Bff!Chan Hard Thoughts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: bang chan x fem!reader
genre: smut, a bit of fluff, but basically pwp
word count: 0.8k
warnings: explicit content, toys, overstimulation, oral (f rec.), cum eating(?).
summary: reader decides to show her sex toys collection to chan.
A/N: this was supposed to be 2 paragraphs long but i got carried away. i keep imagining scenarios for each one of the boys using toys… and this one in particular is stuck in my head for too long so i decided to share. i also have a follow up idea involving jeongin, so let me know if you guys think it’s worth sharing.
Tumblr media
You and Chan have been best friends for a while now, and during a conversation about sex, you decide to show the collection of sex toys you use to have fun and explain how they’re supposed to work, and how each one of them feels.
He would listen to you carefully whilst exploring the toys by analyzing their texture, pressing all the buttons, and feeling the vibration going through his hands on each level. He would let his curiosity win, and extend the lesson to a more practical instance by pressing one of the vibrators slightly through your shorts right on your clit. You would stop mid-sentence surprised and aroused by the feeling by staring at him while he’s studying your expressions to see your reaction when he would apply more pressure on your pussy.
You open up your buttoned shirt only to take your bra off and please him with the view of you caressing your breast but never taking the shirt off completely. Unlike Chan, who likes to walk around half-naked (and sometimes not even half), you feel more comfortable when you have at least one piece of clothing even when fucking.
He decides to take his time and go slow as you mentioned in your small lecture earlier on, and undress you from your shorts without taking off your panties, admiring and smiling at how soaked they already are. Pressing the button to adjust the vibration set up to a bit higher, he’s laying on your side on the bed to caress your hair and whisper soft words in your ear while going through all your pussy with the vibration through the cloth. Your moans get higher as his lips starts to explore your neck by licking and kissing all the way through your exposed skin, making it as wet as he can, just the way you’d told him you like.
When he replaces one of your hands to pinch your nipples while setting the vibrator higher and directly on your clit, you can’t help but moan his name and roll up your eyes in extreme pleasure while cumming desperately on your already ruined cloth.
He kisses your temper softly helping you through your high, admiring how pretty you look. Although his smile fades away when he stares at your mouth, passing through your lips with his thumb, he stares back into your eyes and suddenly reaches for another toy in the box. He grabs a smaller wand with a more intense vibration settings than the previous one, and though you assure him you are too sensitive to go through another orgasm, he takes off what was left of your panties and dive between your thighs cleaning the mess he had made just a couple of minutes earlier with his on mouth.
He makes sure to lick through the whole fend before starts sucking on your clit and eat you like it is the only thing that could save him from starvation. Being sensitive from the previous orgasm makes everything even more intense, the dying pleasure tries to force you to keep your eyes closed but you keep fighting to watch him eat you while you grab and pulls his curly dark hair.
He knows you won’t take long but your moans keeps getting louder and the grab on his hair tighter makes him rush the process and turn on the vibrator on its higher setting right on your clit and stick his tongue on your pussy, grabbing your leg with his free hand behind your knee to put it on his shoulder and lick you freely and deeper.
The screams that you let out while coming might be heard through the whole neighborhood, he uses the grab on your thigh to keep you in place during the overstimulation refusing to let you go down from your high. Only when he sees you can’t keep your breathing pace going, he turns off the vibrator placing it on the bed to help you recover from the shivering.
When he sees the dizzy smile on your face, he gets up and walks towards your bathroom to come back with a towel to clean you up properly. Still feeling numb and empty-headed from the overstimulation, you let him do his thing and wait till he’s done, shaking lightly when you feel him using his tongue to help clean the wetness of your pussy.
But this time you don’t even have to complain about the sensitivity, as he’s done with the task quickly and proceeds to lay over you using his forearm beside you to manage his weight. He’s scanning your face with his eyes and the well-fucked smile you have on makes him giggle before he surprises you once again, kissing you deeply and passionately leading his tongue through your mouth with possessiveness.
You keep kissing until you need to part for some air and you notice how he hadn’t kissed you until now. But like he was listening to your thoughts, he says: “Since we’re here, I just wanted you to taste yourself on our first kiss”.

Do you have any advice on how to write more words on a regular basis? I find it difficult to write regularly but am fed up of only being able to produce sporadically in small amounts. Whenever I sit down to write it feels like I'm feeding gravel into a blender (if that even makes sense). I've tried getting advice from others and am told to just "stop trying to write then". But I can't because I want to write. Writing is all I ever think about. It feels like oxygen to me and when I'm not doing it (or thinking about doing it) I feel like I'm dying inside. But damn, I just wish it wasn't so difficult.
I really want to finish my stories and I know I could if I just wrote regularly but I don't know why that's so hard for me to do.
Hi anon!
I might have some thoughts on this because I certainly never used to write as much as I do now!
Tumblr media
Firstly, I'll get this one out of the way now, if you have money to spend, join 4thewords - ignore this if you don't have it. But this gamifies writing in a genuinely fun way. Each monster you kill gives you loot, and fulfills quests that give you more loot, that opens more worlds and more options that give you clothing / house furniture and more. This was - given how much more productive it made me - a game changer re: writing more.
If you don't have money to spend, let's ignore that and go to other methods.
If you want to write more, the answer isn't to stop writing, it's to write more. The best time to hear 'it's time to stop writing' is if you're burnt out, or you hate everything about it. It sounds like you don't hate everything about it, you just wish it was a bit easier.
Decide what you want regularly to mean. I don't have a daily writing habit - I don't write every day! I'm too sick to, so i have a monthly minimum wordcount instead of a daily minimum wordcount and try and hit it by about week 2/3. Regularly for you might be once a day. Once every two days. Or it might be 'I have to write this many words a month.'
Find a way to track the words you're writing. The only way you can accurately see how much you're writing is by tracking those word-counts! Because you will have days where you feel like you wrote nothing and actually wrote a fair bit, and days where you feel like you wrote a fair bit and sadly wrote...hardly anything, lol. But it's also the best way to see yourself achieve more as you increase your wordcount.
Let's also talk about flow. Sometimes you don't get to feel 'flow' - that feeling of the words coming out easily onto the page, and you have to kind of struggle for every sentence. Are you okay with writing more knowing that this is actually normal for many writers, and the gravel blender feeling might not go away? It will over time get easier to write more words, but it might mean more of that gravel blender feeling. Flow is not predictable, and is often story and scene dependent. Chances are you will have more times feeling writing flow, I just want you to be honest with yourself in case it doesn't happen the way you wish.
From there, it's a combination of developing the discipline (which is like exercising a muscle - start small and grade upwards, don't aim too high at first, consistency is better than bursts), and finding the tricks that help you.
Look at how many words you think you could write a week. Let's lowball and say about 100 words a week. When you assess this for yourself, always undershoot, don't round up! 100 words is like... a long paragraph worth of words.
The following week, depending on if you want a daily / once every two days etc. habit, you'd aim to write 150 words that week. A paragraph and a half.
The week after you'd aim for 200 words.
You might find in week 2 it was easy to write 1000 words, great! But the week after you're still only aiming for 200 words. Don't base scaling up on the bursts / writing sprints - they'll lie to you. If you want consistent discipline, base your increases on the low days. If you reach a week where 200 words feels impossible, aim for 200 words the following week, if it's still impossible, go back to 150.
Now for you it might be... 500 words in week one, 600 in week two, 700 in week 3 etc. It might not seem like much, but you'd be surprised how quickly you start scaling through those numbers with practice.
Increasing writing output is a numbers game. And it's a patience game. And it's a 'being forgiving and gentle with yourself while also being a little bit stern with yourself' game.
Here's the thing no one tells you (except for NaNoWriMo every single year) re: increasing your wordcount.
Those words don't have to be good. They don't have to be good in fact it's better if they're not.
You're just getting used to the feeling of writing more. Not writing more good words, that will come naturally with time. You're getting used to sitting in front of a document for longer, thinking of more sentences you don't necessarily love (it's better if you don't! Write the bad ones!) And this is what I mean by it's a numbers game. Getting better at writing happens the more you do it anyway, so you can just focus on 40 bad sentences.
The trick to letting yourself write badly? That one is just...gritting your teeth and screaming through them while you go 'AHHHHH' in your head and let those suckers loose. Or whatever version of this that you have.
Because here's the thing, it's actually pretty easy to write 1000 words of inconsequential terrible story that no one's going to read. I mean 'pretty easy' - it's easier than writing the stories and characters you love the most and are so invested in, it's hard to write the sentences because you want to do justice to it all. That's fucking stressful, friend, and increasing writing output is just better if you're not always a) doing it on those stories or b) invested in writing those stories well in those early draft/s.
But once you're used to writing more words of stuff you don't love, it becomes easier to write less words of stuff you do, and chances are that will still be more than you're writing now. <3 Some of my stories are really easy to write, and some are way way harder. A chapter of The Ice Plague took as much time as three chapters of Underline the Black. So story is important here too. But also the point is basically that... you don't have to scale up your writing output with the stories you're most invested in, but need to be at a certain standard of writing. You can scale it up any time, with any kind of story - anyone can do this. Increasing your wordcount is a matter of like... easy methods that are less easy to implement irl because of the psychology around letting yourself write badly, and letting yourself validate the time / put the time aside to do that.
And here's the other thing - find a ritual that helps you. Whether it's brewing some tea before writing. Setting up a little space. Putting on some music or a noise generator specifically for writing. Listening to Lo-Fi Girl or Synthwave Boy. Whether it's writing a few words on paper first, or changing the font. Eventually you will have a Pavlovian response to the ritual, and every little bit helps.
As for the psychology, this is why you lowball. You make it as easy as possible. 'God writing 1000 words seems really hard oh but I only have to write a sentence today, cool, I can do that.'
The thing about lowballing is that on the good days, you will write way, way more than your goal. Which means a) you're done for the week if that happens if you want to be done and b) when you're back to feeling exhausted and like GGHGHGHGHHHHH about writing, you're still back at that initial lowball wordcount.
On my worst days, I lowball to like, 5 words, 10 words, and just write 5 / 10 / 15 etc. down on a piece of paper and cross them off. 30 words can be a sentence. 10 words can be a sentence. It feels nice to cross off numbers on a sheet of paper and see the increasing words. I can almost always get to 500 words with that method, and I think you could definitely get to 100.
Anyway the TL;DR
Consistency is way more important than quality
Don't be surprised if you don't find 'flow'
ALWAYS lowball when you're developing an increase in words
Figure out what 'regular' means to you (daily / weekly / etc.)
Make a ritual
Focus less on the stories you love most when developing this habit
If you have a bad week, just go back to the previous wordcount goal. And keep doing that, this won't be a linear process!!!
...It didn't need to be this long I'm so sorry anon idk why I'm like this.
I wish you all the best! I 100% disagree with the folks telling you 'just stop writing then.' I'm like nope, embrace the gravel blender, eventually you'll end up with smooth sand in an hourglass, I promise. <3 You just might have to add more gravel sometimes. ;)

Update for y'all that hungry for Harold kills the killer AU
Helped by my beloved beautiful friend @adriviyaa I made the dialog and she helped me with the paragraphs.
Original AU is by @eavee-ry my AU is just an AU of an AU
Invitation from an old friend.
Tumblr media
The silence is interrupted by a knock. The one who opens it is the one he'd come to recognize as Duncan's mother.
"Yes! Wait a minute," a voice answered from inside the house. The door opens with a creak. And her eyes widened in surprise, one that quickly melts into a smile.
"Oh! Mr. Mcgrady!" She said, her tone infused with the smile that can be seen on her face.
He smiled politely back.
"No need for formality ma'am, afterall, I am younger than you." He paused, before asking, "is Duncan home?"
She nods. "Ah.. yes he's inside,"
He gestures vaguely. "Can I have a chance to meet him?" He ask with a polite tone, although one of inquiry.
"Of course!" She brightens considerably. "He.. hasn't been himself lately you know, since the incident...." She trails off, her face sobering into a melancholic one.
He nods. A gesture to show he understand that much. "I see," he starts. "Well i wanted to make sure he's doing okay now," he says.
"So nice of you Harold," She opens the door and gestures for him to go inside. He does so with a practiced movement of being a guest in somebody's home. "He doesn't want to talk to anybody," She confesses with a sigh.
"That is a natural response to trauma," His sentence might not sound like it's one for comfort, but his tone definitely is. "Even I don't want to talk with any of my peers earlier. But luckily, I can pick myself up now." He explains, looking around the neat house.
"I hope you can convince him to do better..." She trails off, showing him the stairs to Duncan's room. He understood as much, he supposes.
"I will, don't worry," Harold assures, and ascend the stairs.
The door to Duncan's room shouldn't be that imposing, but really, maybe it's just the thoughts swirling around his head in that way.
The door creaks open, and Harold could see Duncan lying across the sofa, half of him sprawled on the floor.
His eyes are covered by his forearm, but the creak of the door got him opening his eyes.
His lips pursed.
"What do you want, nerd?" He scoffed half heartedly, moving to sit properly.
"Woah," he held up his palm. "The first thing you throw at me are insults?" There is a genuine grin on his face, one that unpromptedly made its way on it.
"That is so... you, I'm glad you haven't changed much," harold smiles. Duncan sits up with an aggression that he would've thought impossible.
"FUCK OFF! I don't need your pity," he shouted. And couldn't help but think of someone feeling cornered lashing out at anything that could go around itself.
"Pity? Now where did you get that from?" He raises an eyebrow in inquiry.
"I know your kind," Duncan's eyes trail down to the floor, but there's fury dancing in his eyes.
"Just because you got famous you go around parading yourself like you're better than anyone!"
Harold sighs, not wanting to push the argument uselessly.
"Assume what you want," he relents.
Silence hangs uneasily in the air. Harold swallows, hard. He starts, "Your mother."
Duncan's eyes snap up to meet his. "She's fond of the ocean, right?" He asks.
"Wh- yeah. She likes to go to beaches, how do that-?" His question got cut off by an awfully out of place cheerful tone from Harold, who is currently making space for himself on the floor, almost too easily.
"Do you know that murder on the international sea doesn't count as murder?" He says cheerfully.
Duncan's face scrunched up in confusion involuntarily. "Wh-?"
Harold laughs it off, like he just said an out of topic fun fact. Which he might be, but the fact doesn't seem fun at all.
"Haha, I'm being off topic. How are you?"
Perhaps it was the whiplash from moments before. But Duncan's truth slips out before he could process what was asked of him.
"Not fine, obviously." He seizes up when it caught up to him what he had said.
But Harold didn't look surprised, or concerned for all that matters. It looks to him that it's barely news, like saying the sky is blue.
"Of course," he offers easily. "Are you still in touch with Courtney?" He asks.
"...yes," there is apprehension in his lungs, but he ignores it like he always does.
"Thats good, that's good." nods, and while there is a sense that he might be planning something, Duncan finds himself... not minding.
"Spit it out," he says finally, because he wouldn't confess to anything if not prompted. "Why did you visit me, four eyes?"
"As observant as ever," the smile is far too sharp, too cold. "Duncan, do you remember our dear host?"
His throat constrict, and anger is easier than everything else that comes with the memory.
He shouts.
"WHAT DID HE HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?"
Harold shrugs.
"He didn't go to prison. As you know," he just says, and that answers nothing at all.
"That fucker," he mumbles underneath his breath.
"I know you hate," Harold stops. "No, loathed him," he corrects himself.
"What do you expect?" His eyes meet a sharp glint of the glasses he wore, instead of the eyes. Somehow, that's ominous. "He left us on that fucking island and he makes you..." He trails off.
"Murderer of the killer. Yeah, I know." Harold nods.
"They should've kept that fucker locked for the rest of his life." He grit his teeth, and clench his palm. Harold opens it, indent left on the skin where his nails dug into.
It could've drawn blood.
He didn't feel much of that, though.
"Prison would only be a breeze for him. Prison is not enough, no. We have to torture him the way he torture us," Harold offers, and continuing the talk feels like making a deal with the devil.
That too, hadn't mean much when everything else had been taken into account.
"What are you trying to say, nerd?" It's a need for verbal confirmation, really. Because Duncan knows what went through Harold mind with the way his eyes sharpen.
He knows him well, he thinks.
"Let's hunt down the host, Duncan." Harold smile is too sharp, wrong. But Duncan had come to know that wrong, sometimes is _right_.
How does the saying goes?
The hunter has become the prey.

Advice for slicing down word count
While I'm a big believer that a story should be as long as a story needs to be, sometimes there's external reasons that you have to cut something down, and sometimes it's just a fun challenge to hold yourself to a word count. I write a lot of flash fiction, and I am here to tell you that unless you're some kind of natural writing genius, writing with brevity is an editing skill that you have to learn & practice. I learned to write via newspapers, so this is a skill that was beat into me -- here's how I translate it to fiction writing! (Specifically fanfiction/character-driven stories, because that's what I mostly write.)
Just write the thing. You can try to go for brevity on the first draft, but if this is not something you're used to, then you're only going to give yourself a headache trying to pay attention to word count from the jump. The one thing you'll want to keep in mind is scope -- it is very hard to fit multiple scenes into, say, <500 words. The more scenes/transitions you include, the briefer they will need to be. (Which, like, very short scenes are also cool. But you're just upping your challenge.)
Find your purpose. Look over what you've written. What is your story about? I find it helpful to distill this down to one sentence. For example: It's a study that shows how Character A reacts to fear. Or, it shows how Character A and Character B resolve conflict. Or, even as broad as, It shows the consequences of miscommunication. If you can't do that, the rest of this process is going to be frustrating. Also, even if you decided on your purpose before you started writing, it's helpful to really take a look at this now because sometimes things shape out different in practice.
Carve out the distractions. Listen, you came here to write short. You knew what you were getting into. It's time to kill your darlings. Copy and paste your draft to the top of the document so you can go back for things if you change your mind, and get to cutting anything that meanders away from your purpose. I'm talking full paragraphs. Big chunks. Don't cut anything smaller than a sentence quite yet.
Tweak narrative elements. There can be whole structural elements you can change that'll simplify your narrative and cut word count. The things I mainly look at are characters (who is there vs who NEEDS to be there?), setting (characters that are walking down a busy street encounter a lot more obstacles than characters sitting in a parked car), and point of view (would this be simpler if you were looking at this story from a different perspective?). I recommend you repeat step #3 when you're done, but I don't recommend switching the order of these steps, because this is about training your brain to cut things when you don't want to, not speed/efficiency.
Reduce redundancies. Repetition is fun and clever and good for establishing tone, but it does not help your word count. Look for things that are being shown twice. If your character nods, then says, "Okay, I get it," then you can probably cut the dialogue. If the weather is described as raining, and then your character pulls their hood up to protect their hair, then maybe you can merge those sentences. I find that a lot of the body language I include in a rough draft is not really necessary -- I'm usually writing it to give the illusion of pauses or time passing, because I'm imagining the scene in a really specific way, but perhaps it doesn't really matter that the character stuck their hands in their pockets and shifted their weight from one foot to the other, especially if there's other cues in the story that would let your readers infer that the character is nervous.
The classic line edit. This is what you wanted to do from the start. If you are getting close to your desired word count, then you can do this now. Goodbye adverbs, filler words, unnecessary dialogue tags. Goodbye passive voice (unless it the passive voice is actually doing something important). Some of the most impactful line edits usually restructure a sentence. (ie: Restructuring sentences is most impactful.) But know that this alone will not save you. I doubt I've ever cut more than 50-100 words from a <1k piece with line edits alone.
If you line edit to hell and back and still can't get to your goal, it's time to return to some of your previous steps. Sometimes, it even means that your original scope was too broad, and you need to start from the top. Be brave. Cut things out. Save your severed darlings in a different document for later. Don't be afraid of stark, blunt sentences -- they don't read as cold as you think they do. And good luck!

20 Qs for ficcers
I have been tagged by a smorgasbord of wonderful people - @celaestis1, @cha-melodius, @kiwiana-writes and @welcometololaland. One of them even sent me flowers (thanks @clottedcreamfudge, you are a constant delight).
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
12!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
101,280 - not too shabby, I like that it's a round number.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Red, White & Royal Blue, The Thrilling Adventure Hour, Tamora Pierce, *cough* Angels Unlimited...
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Just Like a Dealer (which I am HESITANT about including because, once again, I only wrote the first paragraph)
Henry Fox: All-American Hero
Red, White and Royal Ballet
Alien Magic
Stringbean
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
No! I very rarely respond to comments. Right now, it's because I don't have time, but it's also because every comment will be 'aaaah thank you <3' and that feels like artificially inflating my comment count sometimes. Having said that, if people have questions, I tend to answer them.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
It was gonna be Ghosted before @clottedcreamfudge talked me out of it. Maybe When a Dancer Dies, because the 'happy ending' is massively open to interpretation.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Either Henry Fox: All-American Hero or Red, White and Royal Ballet. I mean, I'm writing for a novel with a strong romantic element - it's unusual NOT to write happy endings.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven't yet, but hey! I probably will! And when that happens I will specifically write them into my next fics and make them suffer horrible fates!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I have written explicit stuff before, but not yet for RWRB. However, @dumbpeachjuice left a comment on All-American Hero that has me considering an expansion/missing scene in that world.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
The only crossover I have is Alien Magic, which is two worlds by the same author, Tamora Pierce, and me crossing over characters from one into the universe of the other, but they're aware that the other world exists, it's just on the other side of the globe from them.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
If I have, I don't know about it! Doubtful, though.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I did receive my first comment in Spanish yesterday which made me very happy.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
YES and I have also co-written a book with my BFF.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Fun fact: my fiance and I almost had 'fictional couples' as the theme for our wedding tables but abandoned it because two bridesmaids (u know who u are) would have wanted to sit at different tables.
Top three: Frank and Sadie Doyle, Mel Beeby and Brice de Winter (thoroughly not canon) and, of course, Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor and Alex Claremont-Diaz.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Henry as a contestant on a pottery show, Alex as the kiln assistant who became a much bigger part in season 2 and has a lot to say.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Punctuality. Does that count? Errr, okay, I can write a banger of a sentence now and then and I'm good at description.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Em-dashes, and trying to be funny. The funniness comes in when I'm not trying too hard.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
It's difficult and I haven't done it yet! I'm learning Swedish (445 days in a row so far) and what gets me is sentence structure. Sometimes it's structured like English, sometimes it's structured like Early Modern English, sometimes the structure is specifically foreign and I fuck it up. However, I really liked what Junot Diaz did in Oscar Wao, which is not italicising words in other languages because that's not how the character thinks.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The very very very first fanfic published somewhere was LoTR. It was about the Entwives and it was dull.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Ghosted. Or Cold Cases, Lost Causes. Sometimes you want to chew on some PLOT, and Ghosted deals with death, and Cold Cases deals with the ethics of podcasts covering true crime. I can't wait to release the last 3 chapters because I'm proud of how I've ended it!
Tagging -- ah shit, it seems that everyone has been tagged. Okay, if you want to do this, do it and say I tagged you. I love you all!

20 Questions More
A deeper and more detailed version of the 20 questions for AO3 fanfic writers. Thanks @fabulousglitch for the tag!!
1) How do you keep getting ideas for your ship/fandom?
The blorbos won't leave me alone.
2) Which authors inspire you in your fandom, and why are they so freakishly good?
There are too many to count. I was introduced to Supergirl through fanfic and the canon I know to be true has been built on the backs of hundreds of contributors. It wouldn't do anyone justice if I started a list because 1. it would become a monolith of names and 2. I would definitely miss one(s). If you're in this fandom, you've likely inspired me, and that counts both for written, gif-ed, and drawn works.
3) Aside from the characters of your main ship, who are the characters you love to write?
Alex, but I don't always get it right.
4) Are there pairings or tropes you know for sure you'd never write about? Which ones?
There is a lot I probably wouldn't do, but I also for sure never expected to write an F1 au, so...
5) What is your writing process and why is it cursed?
I can either sit down and crush 1-3k words or sit down and tweak the same seven sentences for two hours. There is rarely an in between.
6) What is your favorite part of your writing process?
Editing. Oh boy do I LOVE editing. Those opportunities for finessing and fine-tuning and tweaking are *mwah*
7) What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to research for a fic?
This isn't weird but is more recent: I did a deep dive into star constellations for a throwaway line in 'new kind of romance'
8) Is there a particular writing rule you struggle with (grammar, spelling, tense, reality in general)?
This is a nonanswer, but I would love to expand my vocabulary. The thesaurus is my writing buddy, but there are very real moments where I pout and scowl and glare at the ceiling because I can't think of the word that I'm feeling.
9) What was your hardest scene to write so far and why?
Any sort of conflict/confession/confrontation is always really hard for me, but they're also maybe my favorite things to write. I want the characters to hash things out and be honest and vulnerable, and I think tackling big emotions is a delicate balance. I never want to sound too forceful, but I don't want to leave things unsaid, but I don't want anyone to do anything out of character, but i don't want to yadda yadda...
10) Have your characters ever done something you didn’t expect, changing your plot completely?
see: 'crisis of indulgence'
11) If you could converse with any of the characters, who would it be and why?
Lena; I think she'd be a lot of fun to debate/argue with (respectfully).
12) What are some of the tropes or themes that you find yourself returning to in your writing?
(so far) always a happy ending. the readers and these characters deserve it.
13) What's your most important resource as a writer?
Living experiences (which takes time!). I don't think I could write heartbreak without having experienced that guttural feeling of loss in the same way I don't think I could write about failure or anger or insecurity or love or laughter. I think reading and the act of writing every day are incredibly resourceful, but the act of my lived experiences and those feelings is something I draw from in everything I write.
14) Can you share some of your strategies for editing and revising your work?
I edit as I go which doesn't work for everyone; however, a super fun thing I've picked up in recent works is this: when going to do a final edit of a <insert: chapter, one-shot, etc>, I read the last few paragraphs first. That sets me up to know exactly what the chapter is aiming for: feelings, motivations, plot, etc. I then use that as the anchor for how I tweak/edit/add small details to the rest of the chapter during my final read-through. I find it helps flesh out the larger story with smaller details.
15) Which is worse: making the summary, picking the tags, or the anxiety when you post your fic?
none of the above really since nothing about posting is carved in stone. tags and summaries can always be tweaked.
16) How do you define success for your fanfic - hits? Kudos? Comments? Bookmarks? Or just if you like it?
If it's finished. Bonus points if people get something out of it, but the act of having written something feels like the biggest success.
17) Do you have a playlist for your favorite character/ship?
Not really. I have go-to soundtracks for 'writing vibes' but nothing project/ship dedicated. (though 'like we're made of glass' was definitely inspired by very specific songs)
18) If fan art was going to be made from your work, which fic would you pick and which fan artist would you like to create it?
Again there are too many jaw-droppingly talented artists in this fandom to choose just one. It would of course be a wild crazy honor to see a work inspired by one of my fics, but there's already so much in this fandom to be inspired by that it doesn't feel like a loss.
19) How many WIPs do you currently have?
*sighs* for supercorp? there are a few (five). but the one that has most of my creative down time is a supercorp wicked au i have wanted to write for years but only have the faintest wisps of an outline for.
20) What's your advice to new fanfic writers?
Do it, do it, do it!
But also, one of my favorite pieces of advice for ANY creative venture is from Marc Dalessio who made this super cool 'creative process' graph in 2010 and included this line to summarize it: The ability to see improves before technical skill, and we often have difficulty assessing honestly exactly how our work looks.
It helps during those ruts when I look at everything I've recently written/drawn/created and scrunch up my nose in snobbish disgust because it just means I'm growing in some new way and not that anything I'm doing is inherently bad.
- - - - -
tagging (respectfully and without pressure) @sideguitars @fazedlight @inkedroplets if you want some rapid-fire q's thrown your way. but also anyone who wants to take a swing, i'd be jazzed to read the different answers

WIP Poll Result!
Here it is pals! An 11 sentence snippet from Dork Love Pt. 3 as part of this fun little WIP game. (It should technically be 13 sentences, but the whole 4th paragraph is one sentence so I'm taking the liberty to count it as more.)
“Anything?” Hunter probed curiously.
“No,” Tech lamented, shifting his feet below him to further alter his vantage. “It is too dark to differentiate anything.”
“Well, here…” the sergeant chuckled. “Here, Tech… Tech!… Maker, will you just take the damn flashlight?”
Tech permitted his gaze to depart the shadows for only long enough to snatch the offering from his brother’s outstretched hand, igniting it with a deft flick of the switch and aiming at as precisely as he could through the infuriatingly small gap, but the presence of any obvious clues remained shrouded in darkness… evading him, and every panicked exhale accumulating like a cloud on the glass in front of him, saw the simmering panic in his chest continue to boil until even the innate act of swallowing was rendered a challenge.
“Well… I don’t sense anything weird,” Hunter offered, his voice perfectly pairing the phlegmatic way he stepped backward and looked casually toward the direction they’d come from. “I thought I could smell blaster fire a few minutes ago, but it might have been that pair of shifty looking Rodian’s we passed earlier. And, if I’m being honest, it’s hard to smell anything over-and-above the rank trash scattered everywhere in his hell of a hole-in-the-ground. How does anyone bre—”
“There is a mug,” Tech interrupted gravely, his gauntlet clunking against the window as he impatiently moved to wipe away the condensation collecting in his line of sight again.
(is this even worth tagging people in?? probably not? but here we are anyways?) Taglist: @anxiouspineapple99 @starrylothcat @nobody-expects-the-inquisitorius @dystopicjumpsuit @blueink-bluesoul @littlemissmanga @523rdrebel @wings-and-beskar @sunshinesdaydream
**since my taglist form differentiates ficlets from multichapter fics, I did not tag those who did not sign up for multichap as this is technically a portion of a 3rd chapter.**

Fic Writer Meme
AO3 Name: OldShrewsburyian
Fandoms: An embarrassing number because I often find myself needing to write One Specific Thing, but led by: Sherlock Holmes (assorted versions, but especially canon); Timeless; The Hour (still not over it); Foyle's War (mysteriously perfect); Merlin (...I don't have an excuse, I just rewatched it early in the pandemic.) The Wimseyverse and the Morseverse also account for several fics each.
Number of Fics: 134 (oops?)
Fic I spent the most time on: I'm honestly not sure. Writing novella-length fics that require research is a (bad?) habit of mine. The most recent of those is All the Powders of the Merchant. ...It might be a still and woven blue though.
Fic I spent the least time on: ...I'm also not sure. I will say (confess?) that I just whipped The Hands File together for an informal Holmestice round without thinking about it too hard. It was fun!
Longest fic: The Craven Hive
Shortest fic: I have podfics, 3-sentence ficathon fills, and quite a few drabbles!
Most hits: and history immeasurably is wealthier (this is partly due to good timing, I think; the second season of Timeless had ended, and we were all excited by possibility and full of hope.)
Most kudos: Rightwise Born (this is largely due to the size of the Merlin fandom, I think; it's not a popular fic in the grand scheme of things.)
Total Word Count: 516,053 (that's five academic monographs of words; nobody look at me)
Favorite Fic I Wrote: I usually answer The Craven Hive (we write fic for ourselves first and foremost, and this is my "the Holmes-Watson partnership is about everything that is most important in human relationships actually and here's how human love survives cataclysms and also I have a lot of feelings about WWI" fic.) I will also, though, mention that The House of Magic is the only fic for Guzaarish on AO3, and I'm proud of filling that void. Also, several other people have said they're glad it exists.
Fic You Want To Rewrite/Expand On: ...I do also occasionally think about expanding The Craven Hive. Or taking the plunge and writing out my post-canon "here's how my ship can still win" series following on from Only To Uncertain Days (Foyle's War.)
Share a Bit of a WIP or story idea you are planning on: I'm currently writing... an Ivanhoe AU set in 1930s NYC, which is either unhinged or entirely predictable of me or somehow both. @halfbad-333 generously let me run with the idea, and @counterwiddershins is generously beta-reading. It contains the Rebecca-Rowena friendship we deserve, and thus paragraphs such as:
Rebecca folded her hands on the desk. “Rowena, you know I love you, and I love that you always see the best in people — and in the world — but you do realize that I have hired this man because he knows how to use a gun, and how to intimidate people without one?”
I was kindly tagged by @mudlark2019; I tag in turn, in the usual non-obligatory fashion, @gaslightgallows, @sanguinarysanguinity, @tinydooms, @shredsandpatches, @mercurygray

20 questions for fic writers
Thanks for tagging me @bitbybitwrites @kiwiana-writes @cha-melodius I continue to be emotionally withholding from my WIPs so this was a fun little distraction.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
15 and I realised tomorrow is the anniversary of the first fic I ever posted! Might do a little celebration post about it.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
259,263!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Red, White & Royal Blue ❤️🤍💙
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Confirming the mad recency bias in RWRB fics, they are all my most recent fics, all published from August onwards with the exception of the last one, hospital cupboard hook-up fic my beloved:
Deep Blue
In His Wildest Dreams
Just Like That.
Oxford Days
Tumbled Down and Tangled Up
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! Comments are the best thing about ao3 and pretty much the only reason to post my stuff online! I feel boring sometimes, like I'm replying the same thing over and over, but it is SO true that every single comment means so much to me and I hope commenters know that
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't do unhappy endings. The closest I've come to not a HEA is Don't Wanna Be A Fool For You which is still a happy ending lol, but I didn't go into the future and left them only JUST beginning to recover from all the angst
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh, tricky to decide this. I'm gonna go with Down By The Water, simply because I go deep, DEEP into their happily ever after in the epilogue (it is 12k of a 63k fic which should give you an idea of just HOW deep), even though it’s still quite… yearn-y.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, though I did get some intense emotional responses to a few chapters of Deep Blue, which... well, they were supposed to hurt, but it was A LOT. Never have I used the 😬 emoji that much.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Hah, yes. A lot of it. All but one of my fics are E and even that one has got a smutty end scene I didn't publish and might post around the holidays. A Christmas treat for a Christmas fic! I'm not sure what 'what kind' is really supposed to mean here, so: very explicit but always emotionally relevant to the story, and particular in long fics I like to use the, ahem, smut progression to show how their feelings and the relationship is deepening.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know 😬 Only tumblr posts 🙄
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Oooh, someone asked me if they could translate Deep Blue to Spanish, so I'm excited to see that (but it is 76k so it might be a while)! That would be my first though.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Oh, firstprince, no doubt. Alex and Henry have my heart.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I absolutely REFUSE to say I won't finish something. I plan to finish all my WIPs.
16. What are your writing strengths?
This is hard to answer, but I think I'm good at building tension, both in the overall story developments, but also within paragraphs and scenes, playing with sentence length etc. At the very least I like how I do that!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Yikes, pulling no punches. Sometimes I get bored of writing all the 'getting to know you' dialogue, and get fed up of writing banter. It’s the kind of thing that tends to get me blocked on a WIP. I find it quite hard, possibly because Alex and Henry banter so much it feels like it's all been done before. Oh, here’s Star Wars! Oh, your dog’s name is stupid! Etc etc.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Love it. I have one WIP currently which has some French dialogue, and my French is middling at best, so I'm going to have to ask for help with it, but I'm not there yet.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
RWRB ❤️
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
IMPOSSIBLE QUESTION. I reserve the right to change this answer, but right now it's Down By The Water, I literally fell asleep last night wishing I had time to go reread it.
Phew, that was a lot! No pressure tagging a few friends who might want to play: @indomitable-love @historicallysam @14carrotghoul @cultofsappho @celaestis1 @suseagull04 @heybuddy-drabbles but open tag if you too wan to join!

Healing Touch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dabi x Fem!Reader fan fiction
Synopsis: You encounter an injured Shigaraki and offer your healing quirk to his aid. Little did you know, healers were hard to come by in the underground and Shigaraki takes a liking to your skills. To further his cause, he kidnaps you and holds you captive under the watch of the LOV. You play the role of the LOV's little healer while you think of a way to escape. Unbeknownst to you, the pyromaniac with a cold heart begins to melt in your presence. Your compassion and wit draw him in, all the while he swears it's only curiosity he feels toward you. But when your touch heals his burns and your personality soothes his anguish, Dabi begins to wonder, what exactly is he feeling for you? And why the hell does he feel so torn up when you slip away?
Warnings/Tags: canon-typical violence, kidnapping, threats, mention of blood, Stockholm syndrome, eventual smut, kidnapping, female/afab reader, healing quirk
Author's Note: This is a reworking of my old fic, "Healing Hands". I've changed some stuff around, gotten rid of unnecessary paragraphs/sentences, and made the pacing faster. I felt like my last one dragged on for too long and I kept getting stuck. It also didn't help that I wrote most of it while high but I'm not gonna make that mistake again lol. I hope you enjoy the new version.
Abbreviation Guide: Y/N (your name), E/C (eye color), F/C (favorite color)
Word Count: 3K
Chapter One: Imprisoned
“Tomura, I do hope you intend to inform us what the emergency is,” Mr.Compress says to Tomura. There’s annoyance in his voice, thinly veiled by his usual aura of elegance and typical polite tone.
“Yeah, this better be important. What gives? Didya really need to have Kurogiri warp us here without notice?” Dabi agrees and further criticizes Tomura.
“Don’t question my judgment, this is extremely important,” Tomura defends.  “We have a new member.” The league members’ faces seem deadpanned, bored and unbelieving. There was no one new in sight.
“You hallucinating or something? I don’t see a newbie,” Dabi contests with sarcasm. Toga giggles at Dabi’s statement of the obvious. “This better not be a chick with an invisible quirk.” A loud, exasperated sigh escapes Tomura’s lips and scratches at his neck in palpable irritation.
“You idiots, she’s not here yet. It’ll be any minute now so listen up. She’s not a willing addition, but her quirk will be useful to us. We’ll need to keep an eye on her to prevent her from escaping,” Tomura explains, still somewhat agitated. Toga squeals in excitement as some of the other members converse with one another in whispers.
“I’m so happy! Another girl is joining? This is gonna be so much fun, we could be like sisters!” Toga squeals and gushes with excitement. She blushes at the next thought of the new female addition. “Maybe she’ll even let me drink her blood!”
“Hold up, how’s she supposed to be useful to us if she doesn’t even follow our mission? Couldn’t she just use her quirk against us?” Dabi opposes.
“Impossible. She has a healing quirk, there’s no way she could overpower us. Besides, we have too much offense, every party needs a support class,” Tomura counters.  “Healers are hard to come by and we need her cooperation,” Tomura adds. He glares at Toga and addresses his following words to her. “So no stabbing and bloodsucking, Toga. I’ll dust you before I warn you again.”
A warp portal appears in the room, suddenly. Everyone in the room tenses in alert and anticipation. Kurogiri partially steps through, with one of his arms still in the haze. The nomu continues to step through, pulling out a very terrified you from the mist. You attempt to thrash and bolt, but after a few well-placed portals, Kurogiri has you restrained by the wrists with his own hands.
Your eyes are wide and darting everywhere around you. Your panic is on display for a bunch of strange people, who you can only assume are villains. You had just started your (study abroad program/work transfer) in Japan. You were only in Japan for a couple of weeks, not even familiar with your route to (campus/work). How were you supposed to know what parts of the city were dangerous? How could you have known what the local villains looked like? Your ignorance and vulnerability are what led you to these circumstances. An ill-fated encounter with a wounded Tomura led your good intentions to be taken advantage of. You just wanted to help someone who could have been close to death. Your conscience would have haunted your thoughts if you ignored him, especially when you had the power to help. How could you have known he was a villain looking for a full-time healer? If only your quirk had blessed you with a stronger constitution and strength, for all it took to kidnap you was a hard blow to the head. A phone call to Kurogiri made it easy for you to disappear without a trace. You were stacked up against impossible odds. Luck was never on your side.
“Speak, tell them your name,” Tomura commands you.
Despite your precarious situation, you can’t help but let your emotions show. You furrow your brows and the corner of your mouth twitches. “I’m not your fucking dog, stop commanding me like one,” you spit with malice. Your e/c eyes narrow in contempt.
Tomura’s head whips around and he turns to face you. You suppress a shiver when his angry red eyes peer at you through Father’s hand. Time seems to slow as his steps close in on you. He roughly grabs your chin with four fingers, his pinky hovering close to your skin. Your face is pulled closer to his, making it easier to see his glare. “When I give you an order, I expect it to be followed. Do I need to remind you what my hands can do? Now tell them your name.”
Not wanting to piss him off further, you wager your best interest entails complying with his demand. You clench your jaw. You had to swallow your pride, the situation called for it. “Y/n. My name is y/n,” You respond, voice filled with bitterness. Tomura loosens his grip on your jaw, mumbling something about wanting to ‘fix your attitude’. He instructs Kurogiri to unhand you and the two of them give you some space.
“Y/n is pretty! We’re going to be best friends!” Toga exclaims and jumps off the barstool, approaching you. You give her a confused look at Toga’s giddy and friendly demeanor. Toga throws herself at you to embrace you in a hug, a gesture that borders on insanity given how the two of you barely know one another. Your apprehension and stiffness go unnoticed by the blonde.
“Um, thanks?” you reply with reluctance. Worryingly, the teen is much stronger than she appears.
“Since we’re friends and all, can I have some of your blood? I think people look even prettier when they’re covered in blood,” She gushes. Your expression can only be described as that of dawning horror. You’re beginning to realize how a girl like her ended up in such a crowd.
“Miss Toga, I understand you have an affinity for blood but please keep in mind what Tomura said,” a masked man wearing a trench coat remarks. The man lazily swirls marbles in a gloved hand. His demeanor and speech are quite eloquent and formal, standing out from the rest of the group. You note that perhaps he could be reasoned with. After all, he’s almost defending you against the teen’s apparent blood lust.
“Ugh, that’s so boring!” Toga whines. Tomura shoots her a warning glare from behind his mask, or rather his hand. She releases you from her embrace, sighing loudly. She spins on her heels and grabs your hand. Her tone sounds a bit dejected when she speaks again. “I guess since we can’t do that, I’ll introduce you to everybody.” She parades you around the room, introducing you to everyone. You already knew of Tomura and Kurogiri of course, so no introduction is needed there. The process is awkward at the very least, but the other members don’t seem to care much. There’s not exactly a social script for meeting your captors.
You learn the esteemed man in the white mask goes by Mr.Compress, or just Compress for short. It seemed like a strange name initially until Toga explained his quirk involves compressing and reducing anything he desires into small marbles. You shudder to think of what it would feel like to be trapped in such a way. The next introduction is for a man in a black and white body suit. His suit covers his face as well. The man’s name is Twice and he makes clones of people. His behavior is quite erratic, as he’ll often say one thing and immediately follow with a statement saying the opposite. You’ve been shuffled around the room and learned the names of almost everybody except for one other person. Toga pushes you in the direction of a man adorned with many piercings and staples.
“And this is Dabi! He’s got a fire quirk,” Toga introduces. You take in his features quickly, not wanting to stare too much but wanting to pair his face with a name. There’s a lot about him that sticks out to you. There are large swaths of deep scars on his arms, neck, and face. The seams between the scars and healthy skin are joined together with silver staples. Even the scars beneath his eyes are littered with staples. But apart from his scars and piercings, his gaze is piercing. He has eyes that seem to see right through you, scrutinizing you with his cobalt blue irises.
“Y/n, was it?” He asks. His voice catches you off guard, as this is the first time you’ve heard him speak. It’s deep and smoky. In different circumstances, it’d make you weak in the knees.
“Y-yeah,” you confirm. Your voice sounds meek when you speak. He merely hums in acknowledgment and doesn’t question you further. Though, with the way his eyes still follow you and the way his brows are slightly pinched together, you wager there’s something he still wants to ask you.
“Toga, Twice, you two show her to her room. It’s the last room off the hall,” Tomura instructs, shooing the two of them off with a gesture.
“You got it, boss!” Twice agrees, enthusiastically. His tone and voice rapidly shift to a more whiny and annoyed attitude, “No! Why me?”
Toga agrees without refusal, unlike Twice. Though, despite Twice’s uttered resistance, he complies with Tomura’s request regardless. You think that Twice’s mannerisms will take some getting used to. Maybe eventually his switches won’t be as jarring. As the two of them are about to lead you up the stairs, Kurogiri interjects.
“Miss y/n, we found your residence. We went ahead and gathered most of your belongings, excluding devices of course,” Kurogiri informs you.
You blink once, then twice. You can’t help but think, ‘Excuse me, but what the fuck?’
“Wow, you broke into my house, looked through my things, and took my stuff? Thanks, how considerate of you,” you sarcastically remark.
“It’s no problem, y/n,” Kurogiri accepts. You think he surely cannot be serious, but nothing in his mannerisms or tone of voice makes you believe so. This guy has seemingly no sense of your sarcasm. He’s almost robotic in that sense. Toga, once again, grabs your hand and leads you around. The three of you climb up the stairs and walk down the hallway without further incidents.
“This is yours!” Toga announces. She swings the door open and invites herself in. You begrudgingly cross the threshold as well with Twice coming in behind you.
Boxes of your things are stacked, rather neatly, in the corner of the room. They’re all categorized and labeled. Evidently, Kurogiri is efficient and meticulous with details. You walk over and open the box labeled clothes. Sure enough, you see your clothes, neatly folded in the cardboard. Kurogiri was not exaggerating when he said they gathered most of your things. The thought simultaneously scares and humiliates you. For them to figure out your address and take your thing raises three concerns. One, Tomura and Kurogiri could access information that you did not carry on your person. Two, now that your apartment is now empty, it could appear to the authorities that you ran away without notice. Lastly, and arguably a much smaller concern in comparison, is that you can’t remember if you had brought anything embarrassing with you from home.
“I’ll help you unpack!” Twice offers, before immediately countering himself. “No way, that’s too much work.”
Before he’s able to open a box, you interrupt quickly. You shout, “No!” Your outburst catches him off guard. He freezes in his tracks. You realize your reaction might seem odd, so you try to salvage the situation to the best of your ability. “Please, let me do it. Organizing stuff calms me down. Today’s been a lot for me.” Truthfully, it’s not exactly why you’d like Twice and Toga to leave you be, but the lie is plausible enough to be believable.
Toga taps a finger to her cheek, thinking over it. “Well I guess Tomura didn’t order us to move you in, so it should be fine. Unpacking stuff sounds really boring anyways,” She admits. You feel your shoulders relax a bit. The two of them walk to your door before Toga stops in the doorway. There’s a more threatening aura about her when she adds, “I’d hate to have to chase you down and get yelled at by Tomura, so don’t try anything. Twice and I will be down the hall, okay?” She looks at you, either gauging your reaction or waiting for you to confirm. You decide to just nod and mutter out an ‘okay’, to which she gives you her signature manic smile and resumes her usual happy-go-lucky demeanor.
The two of them finally leave your room. You listen to their footsteps travel down the hall before fading out. The breath you didn’t realize you were holding releases. You’re finally alone. You take a moment for yourself, sitting on the creaky bed frame and mattress. You look around the room, trying to take note of everything. You’ve been provided with a bed, desk, and dresser. The walls are plain. The room is windowless. When you stop to think of it, you can’t remember seeing any windows in the other parts of the building so far either. Not to mention, you noticed that this particular hallway was a dead end. These four walls already feel suffocating to you. It’s a perfect prison, and it’s filled with wardens.
As hopeless as your situation feels right now, you can’t afford to wallow in it. You decide to busy yourself instead of spiraling into despair. There are stacks of boxes filled with your things, after all. You’ll be kept busy and away from your thoughts for at least a while. Your situation sucks, but you’re thankful you have the comfort of having your things. Surrounding yourself with familiarity might help you.
You’re in the process of unpacking your third box when you hear the sound of heavy boots coming toward your room. The door is still ajar from when Toga and Twice left, so you’re able to see who it is. You’re a bit surprised to see Dabi, considering he didn’t say much to you initially. He leans leisurely against your door frame. Clearly, he’s in no hurry to do much. You’re not sure why, but his staring makes you squirm.
“You guys should invest in a surveillance system, isn’t hovering around me boring?” you say, breaking the silence. Your attitude must have been amusing to him, as he gives a light chuckle at you. Just like his voice, his laugh is a bit naturally husky.
“Not when you act so feisty, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone bite back at Tomura like that,” he snickers. “It’d be a shame for him to break that attitude.”
“Is there something you need from me? Besides entertainment?” You quip.
“Your quirk, how does it work?” He questions. He straightens his posture, no longer leaning on the doorway. His expression is more serious. If you squint, you think there’s a hint of curiosity in his gaze.
You think it’s best to just show him. You activate your quirk, focusing it on one part of your body. Your hands glow a f/c hue and begin feeling cold to the touch. “I create a layer of stem cells on my skin. It’s at the expense of my metabolic energy and makes me freeze, so overuse can be dangerous,” You explain. You shut off your quirk and glance at your hands. Your fingers feel a bit stiff.
“So what can you heal?”
“It’s easier to explain what I can’t heal.”
“Go on,” he says and motions. He seems to be intrigued.
“Anything that’s already been healed by the body, like scars or old injuries, won’t react to my quirk. Neither will infections or autoimmune diseases. I can’t regrow lost limbs either, unless the original arm is still mostly intact and… um… ‘fresh’. As a whole, I work best with more surface-level injuries than deep, internal ones.”
“You seem to know a lot about this. You some sort of doctor or nurse?”
“Tried to be at one point. I know people with healing quirks are expected to be surgeons, doctors, or nurses, but I don’t want to be defined by just my quirk.”
“Would your quirk work on me?”
“It should. I could try and see,” you offer. He nods, permitting you to touch him. You’re about to ask him where you should heal him, but he offers his hands, palms facing you. You stand up from your place on the floor and walk over to him. His appearance starts to make sense to you when you inspect his hands. Dabi’s wrists and parts of his palms are slightly burned. The scarring must be a mixture of burn scars and grafts. Does his own fire hurt him?
Not wanting to scrutinize him any further with your staring, you clasp your hands around one of his. His hands are much larger than yours. The familiar f/c glow emanates from your hands, along with your quirk’s characteristic cooling effect. Meanwhile, Dabi’s hands are incredibly warm to the touch, a stark juxtaposition from yours. Even his metal staples, which you’d expect to feel cold, are warmed to a comfortable temperature.
“You weren’t kidding, your hands are like ice,” he comments. Aside from the coldness, he feels the rawness from the burns slowly subsiding. The seam between his healthy and grafted skin even seems to close over.
“Small price for you to pay for good results,” you muse. You release his hands from your grasp and inspect your work. His skin appears to have healed over, taking on the same pale shade as his other healthy skin. He retracts his hand from you and sees for himself. There’s just a hint of relief and awe in his eyes as he flexes his fingers, noticing the difference.
“Heh, not bad,” he admits. “Sorry to disappoint, but your ice hands don’t bother me. In case you haven’t noticed, I run hot.” He glances at his hand one more time before nonchalantly shoving both hands in his pockets. He turns on his heels but doesn’t leave yet.
“See ya around,” he adds. He strolls away, leaving you to recollect yourself and unpack everything.

20 questions for fic writers
Thank you for the tag, @anyawen! These were so much fun!
Answers under the cut, and tagging @sweetbabyangels, @mr-iskender, @stinastar, @aprettyspy and @thestalwartheart, in case you haven't done this already and it's of interest!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 30! That number seems astonishing to me now, considering I started writing fic in earnest like a year-and-a-half ago. 😁
2. What’s your total A03 word count? 138,358
3. What fandoms do you write for? James Bond, Glass Onion/Knives Out, and I just wrote my first fic for The Old Guard fandom, which has pulled me in by the lapels and refused to let me go. And the very first fic I ever wrote was for Stardew Valley.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? 1. A Good Man (Benoit Blanc/Phillip) 2. rain (00q) 3. open line (00q) 4. The More Loving One (00q) 5. Must Love Cats (00q)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Ok yes I definitely do and I love to *and also* I'm so sorry, I'm 288 days (yes I just checked) behind in responding to comments, because this year has been...something else. So, taking the opportunity to say that a) all of your comments are incredible bright spots for me, and b) I am working my way steadily through and enjoying your comments all over again as I re-read and respond to them.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? WELP (eyes my pile o' fics warily). If we go based off the fics with "Major Character Death" as a warning, for a certain value of angst, it's a tie between offering and and the wind at their backs. But both of these fics deal with grief, and the complicated emotions that result from the persistence of love even after the object of that love is gone, and there's some hope in that, too, I think.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? lmao most of the rest of them other than the two in number 6? 😂 this is a hard one to answer, so I'll list my RomCom-iest fics for now (Must Love Cats for 00q and in a space that they belong for The Old Guard). Special shout-out to 'tis the damn season, though, because the happiness at the end of this fic feels like some of the hardest fought, to me, and some of the tenderest I've written, I think.
8. Do you get hate on fics? No--I've gotten a few less than diplomatic comments, and a couple people making unflattering notes in bookmarks that I don't think they meant for me to see, but nothing terrible.
9. Do you write smut? ::offers you rain and for the age of the earth, and after as if I am a sommelier presenting you with some very fine wine:: "this one has notes of--" you know what I'm just going to stop there.
10. Do you write crossovers? I haven't yet!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? No, thank goodness (knocks on wood).
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not yet! #goals
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Use. Your. Words., which was a collaborative poem for 007 fest 2023. 😁
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship? I spent about five minutes hemming and hawing about this but you know what, it's impossible to pick. 😂
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Like Anyawen, I have aspirations of finishing all the ones hanging out in my Scrivener app...someday. Probably the one I have the most doubts about is a 5 + 1 fic where Bond tries out different activities post retirement. I still love the idea and some of the vision I had for this one, but it lives almost entirely in my head, still.
16. What are your writing strengths? I think maybe I have a good ear for language, both in terms of the rhythm of sentences and paragraphs, and for conveying a character's voice or accent. But it's hard to assess your own strengths, sometimes, so that's just my best guess!
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I'm actively working on trying to be better at descriptions, especially in giving details about setting or background. I realized I give these things short shrift, sometimes, and want to change that!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I'll do it with languages I'm fluent in (and have done it with Spanish, since I'm a native speaker).
19. First fandom you wrote for? Stardew Valley, in What Dreams May Come.
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written? Omg, another one that is almost impossible to answer! I think I have to go with all the flags we've hung. This is one of my least popular fics--it's a rarepair, the love depicted in it is complicated (though no less real), and it deals with light topics like, you know, structural racism in the United States. As one does. But it's a fic that's incredible close to my heart, for many reasons, and I remain so proud of this one.
Phew! If you have read all of this you deserve a cupcake. 💜
xoxo, Ani

ABSOLUTELY EVIL
FOREWARNING: this is surprisingly not the worst thing i have ever written but it is UP THERE, so take this as a joke and read with caution. one comment/ask and i will rewrite this in my normal writing style 🔥 the way the changes note is larger than the actual fic 😭
- in which asther writes stupid things in the exact opposite manner of their ordinary style. (dallas winston x gn!reader, so so painful; i can’t even look at this without cringing, fluff i guess?)
a/n - thank you @2knightt for helping! the evil writing style challenge has taken YEARS off my life. if you’re counting, the changes i made are 1. (un)intentionally incorrect grammar, 2. a lack of paragraph breaks, 3. no specific or descriptive words, 4. short sentences without flowy run-ons, 5. no capitals (🥲), 6. no appositive phrases, 7. unresearched characterization, 8. dialogue unbroken by actions, 9. very specific descriptions of reader, 10. the use of “orbs” (kill me), 10. telling not showing, 11. very few contractions, 12. stiff dialogue (without the phrase y’know and stuttering and pauses and such), 13. refraining from using the word “just”, 14. unsatisfying endings.
Tumblr media
dallas looks at you. “your absolutely evil. did you know that?” he says. he holds youre hand. you smirk and roll your ocean blue orbs. then you slap his hand and look at him. “of course i know. i got it from you.” he smiles. “you learned from the best.” “yup.” and he kisses your cheek. “why do we not get out of here? the club is very loud.” the music in the club hurts your ears a little bit. but you decide to tease dally. “it is perfect. i am happy right here.” he touches your waist with his hand. “but i am not. you do not need to see all the other men. you should be focused on me.” you step backward. “and you say i am the evil one. we can have fun later. five more minutes and we can go.” dallas smiles. “you drive a hard bargain. fine. five more minutes. then we are going to go. and you can show me how absolutely evil you can be.” you laugh. “ok.”

20 questions for fic writers!
Thank you for tagging me @thotpuppy! I'm reading everybody's answers, it's so fun!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
46. Though only 14 of them in English.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
582,115 holy shit
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Teen Wolf. I've translated for Sherlock before, though.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. The Happiest of All (Sterek, Explicit, 32,5k, ER, Angst, Miscommunication, Stiles runs away from Derek thinking it's for the best. He's wrong) 2. Untouchable (Sterek, Explicit, 17,1k, ABO, Univesity!AU, Courting, Stiles is the new hot omega, bad boy!Derek is the only one allowed to get close) 3. Safe (Sterek, Not Rated, 974, ER, TW Movie Fix-it.) 4. Wait For Me (Sterek, Mature, 64,6k, Spark!Stiles, Cursed sterek, very soft and desperate, forever love) 5. Treasure (Sterek, Explicit, 71,2k, Historical AU, Courting, Heavy Angst, Derek saves Stiles and baby Eli from gold-digging suitors in the most feral and tender way possible)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I answer each and every one, except for emojis. I also stopped responding to comments on Safe because it exploded so quickly and there was an avalanche of comments and I got anxious and I'm still overwhelmed SORRY
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I cannot decide between Wait For Me and Treasure. In both Stiles loses people, willingly or not, and it's devastating that this is something he will have to live with. But both have happy endings, don't worry.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Lmao, it's pwp Devoured (Sterek, Explicit, 5,2k, Sex God!Derek, Human Sacrifice!Stiles). I mean, Stiles is getting fucked by Derek in front of the dozens of deities, and everyone is jealous of them.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, people have been very nice to me. Some people don't like how soft my Stiles is but it's whatever. However, I anticipate the hate from a certain character defense squad for the fic that's coming out in November. I hope they'll never find it.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yep. It's porn with feelings. And they MUST hold hands. Stiles moans and whimpers and Derek has a filthy mouth. Both are feral sluts for each other. Also monsterfucking. It's Derek Hale's fault, don't look at me, look at his tiddies
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, and, please, don't start
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No. Though, I, myself, translated a lot of fics. It's a unique and wonderful experience. I don't think authors realize how deep into their heads we crawl, how we dissect every paragraph, every sentence, how much we immerse ourselves to convey what the author was trying to say. Some fics I banged my head over, they were so hard to translate. Others were so easy and wonderful, it was a joy to work with them. Yes, the last one was Waiting by isthatbloodonhisshirt. I fucking loved working on it so much.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, and I don't see myself doing so.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
STEREK
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Listen. Mutual pining!Sterek, established!Cordia. In order to save the pack from the Monster of the Week, Stiles and Lydia have to work together to defeat it, and they cannot tell anybody what they're doing bc the pack will die if they do. Naturally, the cheating rumors start. Cora is furious, Derek is devastated. Stiles and Lydia see how much it hurts their loved ones, but they would rather have them heartbroken than dead. Only when Stiles kisses Derek goodbye before going to die for his pack, do they realize that something's amiss. It's so angsty and so epic and I've had this idea for over a year.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Purple prose. Conveying emotions. ANGST. I will make it my life mission to make my readers cry.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Action scenes (including smut because sex is an action scene). Sentences have to be quick, short, with lots of verbs and not a lot of time for emotions. I am not made for that! I try, though, I'm learning, HOLD ON. I also take a long time preparing for super emotional scenes, I just sit there and stare at the monitor and breathe anxiously.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Not a full dialogue, but small words like endearments HELL YES! I had an absolute blast with Treasure, having Stiles call Eli cute pet names in Polish. I feel somewhat comfortable with including Polish, bc my native language has the same/similar roots (?), so I understand when the Google Translate is spewing bullshit at me. I'd love Derek to speak more Spanish, but I know that GT is shit, so I have to stay away. Believe me, I know what it's like to read something in your native language and cringe bc of how wrong it is.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Sigh. Sherlock. I translated a fic and it ended up being an overnight hit and it's still the most popular Johnlock fic I've ever translated. The first fic I wrote myself was for Teen Wolf, Sterek. I would probably die from cringe if I looked at it now.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Treasure MY BABY MY LOVE MY FAVORITE CHILD ugh I'm so proud of it, of Stiles, of Eli and Derek in it. It's incredibly raw. I'm also currently writing a fic that's going to come very close to being my favourite. Maybe, even surpass Treasure. But now, I can say with all my heart that Treasure is my best work. Second is The Happiest of All.
This has been insightful and fun. Not tagging anyone, feeling shy, if you want you can steal the questions (hidden below)

Happy Salmon
A short lil LMK fic of just the gang having fun, because man, they deserve a break.
Summary: MK brings a new card game to game night.
Word Count: 1.5k
Read on Ao3
MK slapped the new game he had purchased earlier that day onto the table in the Noodle Shop. Everyone was sitting together, the Noodle Shop closed for this night's round of Family Game Night. Through a lot of bribing and convincing, Macaque, Wukong, and Red Son were joining them for the first time. They’d already played through some of their usual games, and aside from a couple small moments of laughter and over dramatics (when Macaque found out one game hinged on being able to tell who was lying and who was telling the truth, oh, he put his theatre voice on up to the NINES, speaking in the exact same overdramatic fashion at all times, making it impossible to tell if he was outright lying or simply overdramatizing the truth), but thus far, things hadn’t descended into true unrestrained chaos. Yet.
That was soon going to change.
As the others discussed how the past games had gone, MK sat in his chair and took out the game’s rule book to silently read through, knowing that so long as he read it at least once before reading it outloud to the others, he’d be able to articulate it in a way the others would better understand before they played their first practice round.
He didn’t even make it through reading the first sentence before he choked on his own spit, drawing everyone’s attention to him.
“Ya alright, kid?” Pigsy asked, and MK held one hand over his mouth for a moment, in shock, processing, before holding back laughter as he set the rule book down on the table so that the others would be able to look and read it over his shoulder.
“Oh, I think we’re in for it.” MK snickered, pointing at the very first paragraph. “The very first line says ‘this game is best played when standing’.”
A near simultaneous “Oh- no.” went around the table, and MK laughed even harder when he read the next line.
“This game requires you to shout at all times-”
Another, more serious “Oh no.”, mostly said with humor, albeit there were a few looks at Macaque, to see what he thought about it. Noticing the looks, he simply shrugged, waving them away. He could deal with it, it would be fine.
MK, laughing the entire time, ran over the rest of the rules. Apparently, you needed to find someone who was shouting the same action card name as you, perform the action with them, and then discard the card from your personal deck as fast as possible by any means necessary, even if it meant throwing the card over your shoulder or to the floor. There were a total of four actions, high fives, fist bumps, a kinda secret handshake-esque thing where you each lightly slapped the other’s forearm, and- MK nearly wheezed before he read the next bit- swapping places with the other person.
The air was tinged with the anticipation of chaos as they all stood up, moving the chairs they had been sitting on out of the way as MK set out the proper amount of card decks on the table.
“Ok.” MK said, as everyone picked up their own deck. In all honesty, the game sounded simple enough, just find someone who matched what you were shouting and miming the action of, discard your card, and be the first person to get rid of all your cards. It probably wouldn’t take too long, nor be that hard. “Everybody ready?”
There was a series of nods around the table.
“Then three… two…. one…. go!!”
Almost instantly, it was like pure chaos had manifested itself into the room. It was nigh impossible to tell who was yelling what, and MK could barely breathe from the energy as everyone frantically exchanged high fives and fistbumps- MK caught Tang also shouting ‘Switch it up!’, and upon making sure they had locked eyes, both of them took off running to get to the other’s spot on the other side of the table. At the same time, Pigsy and Wukong did the same thing, MK and his mentor almost bumping into each other as they skidded into place, tossing their cards down at the same time. Macaque’s ears were pinned against the side of his head in response to the loud noise, but still even he was smiling and laughing like a maniac as he fist bumped with Mei.
They almost missed it when Red Son shouted that he had won, all his cards gone, it taking him repeating it a solid 3 times, as well as slamming his hands down on the table, before any of the others noticed.
Almost instantly, it was like a pressure had abated, as MK practically collapsed to the ground, holding onto the table with one hand as he struggled to regain his breath, feeling like he had just run an entire race, struggling to take deep breaths in and out around remnant laughter. Holy shit, that had been far more intense than he had thought it would be, and it wasn’t even like he’d done anything difficult!! A couple of the others were in the same state, Mei and Red Son shrugging off their jackets, knowing full well that, with this practice round as an example, they were likely going to end up working up a sweat as everyone decided that they simply had to do multiple more rounds. Macaque rubbed at his ears a little.
“Do you need some headphones, Macaque?” Mei asked, as she went through the process of picking up the cards that had been scattered haphazardly around the table, sorting them back into their own colour coded decks.
“Nah, I’m fine.” Macaque picked up the purple deck as soon as it was finished, absentmindedly shuffling it. “I know what I’m in for this time, chaos isn’t nearly as annoying or painful as the background noise of electric lights.”
“Cheers to that.” MK said, picking up the yellow deck as soon as it was ready. “Alright, everyone ready for round two?”
There was multiple sounds of agreement, and things readily fell into chaos once again.
Round’s 2 and 3 were much like the first, filled with chaos, and a cacophony of noise. The only real difference was that, when MK won in round 3, overwhelmed by the sheer energy the game had put into him, instead of yelling that he had won, he simply shrieked, which ended up being a lot louder and higher pitched than he had been expecting. He covered his mouth apologetically as the others winced, and Macaque covered his ears.
“...Sorry.” Macaque waved him off.
“‘S fine bud, just don’t do it again.”
It was round 6 when things started to go a little downhill.
“Switch it up!!” MK had yelled- looking around the table and straining to tell if anyone had the same action card as him- only to yelp as it suddenly felt like the floor gave out from under him as he plummeted down-
There was a flash of violet, and suddenly he was standing on the opposite side of the table from where he had been before, Macaque standing where MK had previously been.
Oh.
Oh, so that’s how he wanted to play this, then.
Okay.
As soon as Macaque’s shadow-portalling had registered, it was instantly like all bets were off. Obviously, there wasn’t much that could be done in terms of the fist bumps and high fives… but the switch-it-ups were now a competition.
Red Son started using his fire teleportation- very nearly singeing Tang’s arm as he appeared right beside him, Tang only just barely managing to lean away in time. Both Mei and MK started using their enhanced speed to get around the table faster, very nearly hitting each other multiple times.
Wukong, unwilling to waste time with a backflip to summon his cloud, simply decided to outright vault over the table, sending cards flying everywhere with his action, and almost slamming into Macaque as he landed on the other side.
This went on for nearly 2 minutes- fire, green and yellow sparks, as well as purple shadows flickering around the room as the chaos unfolded.
It only stopped when both Wukong and Macaque threw their final cards down on the table and shouted “I win!!” at the exact same time.
Both monkeys immediately paused, before glaring at each other, fur standing on end in a way that MK mentally compared to two cats about to start a fight. Thankfully, they were spared from witnessing another monkey argument as Sandy spoke up.
“Uh, actually, I won about a minute or so ago- but you were all too distracted to notice.”
Everyone glanced over and, sure enough, there were no cards remaining in Sandy’s hands.
“I also think that, maybe, we should switch to a different game.” Sandy held up a nearly burnt card, using it as an example that had everyone visibly wincing. “Y’know, before we accidentally destroy Pigsy’s shop.”
…Okay, so maybe things had gotten a little out of hand.
…Happy Salmon quickly became regulated as a game to only be played outside, or in Wukong’s house.

20 questions for fic writers - tagged by the fantastic @frosty-the-killer-doll ☃️🔪🪆
How many works do you have on ao3?
13.
What's your total ao3 word count?
72,472
What fandoms do you write for?
The Flash, Glee, and Gossip Girl.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Flying Free (or Free Kurt - Emma Pillsbury Style) ((Glee obvs))
Heartless (Glee)
Smoke and Mirrors (Glee)
Maybe Our Real Soulmates Were The... (Flash/Arrow)
As Frightened As You (Glee)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
It depends. Direct compliments, yes, I'll reply to say thank you. I'll also answer questions, or drop little bits of behind-the-scenes info if there's something fun attached to a detail that a reader pointed out. If the comment is simply "wow!!" or "oof" or something else that doesn't really call for a response and that I don't have anything to add to, I'll just leave it as it is.
What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Toss up between two:
Heartless ends with Kurt getting hit with another wave of grief after having Finn's letterman returned to him, and while he's hugging it and sobbing, for a second it feels like Finn's hugging him back.
The Longest Distance Between Two Points Is Arm's Length ends with Cisco accidentally vibing a moment from earlier in the fic, and misunderstanding what's happening in it. If he'd had context, he would've realized he was seeing proof that his mom loves him, but instead he takes it as a painful reminder that he'll never be enough for her because he's not Dante.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Alive Again. Just two dorks playing in the rain, on the brink of falling in love.
Do you get hate on fics?
None so far.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Absolutely not.
Do you write crossovers?
Not usually, but I have a few. Maybe Our Real Soulmates Were The... is considered a crossover fic by AO3 and FFN's standards, but not by mine. My most ambitious crossover (and the one I'm most invested in) is Preppy In Pink, which is gonna be so much fun when it's ready for posting.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I certainly hope not. Doesn't look too likely, though.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Pretty sure I haven't had that happen, either. It'd be cool though.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Smoke and Mirrors started as a few lines of dialogue that @kurtbastian-land had sitting in her notes app that she didn't have a full story developed for, and posted on Tumblr for anyone who wanted to expand on it. I wrote a very dramatic continuation (the majority of chapter 1), and then @jwmelmoth gave it a happy ending (chapter 2). But then she realized we left a couple loose ends untied, so the two of us collaborated on how it should end, and wrote a few more chapters together.
What’s your all-time favorite ship to write for?
I honestly don't know. I think I have the most WIPs for Kamisco at the moment, but Barrisco and Kurtbastian are both incredibly fun as well.
What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I started a crossover AU ages ago where Kurt Hummel ends up with Eric van der Woodsen. I don't think I'll ever finish it, but I like to reread the snippets I've already written every now and then.
What are your writing strengths?
Viscerally describing emotions, setting a scene, nailing characters' voices.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Titles, titles, titles, and titles. Oh, and also titles. They HARD!! Also, I'm very bad at following my own advice to write badly and edit later. I want everything to sound pretty immediately! This is how I get stuck on the same paragraph for weeks with a whole big chunk of the fic still unwritten.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Not something I'm going to attempt a whole lot of in the near future. I have already slipped a little bit of Spanish (+1 word of French) into a couple fics, but only like a single word/phrase at a time, spoken by bilingual characters in mostly English sentences. There are also a few spots where a character says more in Spanish, but I don't write the actual dialogue, I just imply a general idea of what they're saying. I'd love to include more, but I'm not about to make a fool of myself with Google Translate—I'm sticking to very minimal Spanish until I can speak it better.
First fandom you wrote for?
First fandom I finished a fic for was Gossip Girl. As for first one I started writing a fic for, it was either Gossip Girl (not the same fic) or Boy Meets World (a still unfinished Shawngela fix-it).
Favorite fic you’ve written?
I mean, A Little Help From Your Friends is pretty hard to beat. It's got everything—humor, angst, fluff, ambiguity, movie references, ROOMMATES!! And funnily enough, I gave it a title with a little help from my friend, @daftydraw (and by "a little" I mean she suggested the whole title and I ran with it).

20 questions for fic writers
Took me forever to answer but here I am! I was tagged by @echo-bleu
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
36 on my main pseud, the rest being either translations or old stuff I archived from Wattpad.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
89,808 words... How? I write mostly one shots, where do all these words come from?
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently the Silmarillion and LOTR, but I dabbed into the Hobbit fandom and Six of Crows when I first made my AO3account
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Elflings don't grow in a garden (usually) (Silm/LOTR)
Change of the Seasons (Hobbit)
Once upon aDecember in Ravka (Six of Crows)
An unlikely friendship (LOTR)
An ever-growing family (Silm/LOTR)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes, even if it’s only an emoji and it takes me ages.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Dreams of Doom. It follows Niënor from the moment she arrives in Brethil to her death so, yeah, canon is not kind to her. But I think Náro isn’t far behind because I played with the contrast between a very soft start and an angsty ending to make it even more brutal.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I dont' know... Most of my fics have either a very fluffy ending or a bittersweet one so it's hard to decide. But after pondering the question I'm going to say Ice Age(s) which is bittersweet but the end is definitely very fun and promising for the characters
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Luckily never.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope. I wrote a few scenes with implied/vague sexual content in Dreams of Doom but it’s not smut.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I dont' write crossovers. Anymore. I wrote a few super whacky Percy Jackson-Harry Potter crossovers when I was 13 and had just discovered fanfiction.
But in my curred era of writing, the closes thing I have to a crossover is my forever WIP A Season in Alqualondë which is a Regency Au, Jane Austen style Silm fic.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I translated two (one is currently still being translated but I dont' have the brain to work on it often)
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Never, and I don’t think I’ll do it. I’m terrible at working with someone else.
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
Éowyn x Faramir and Celebrían x Elrond
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Tori daughter of Nori, a Hobbit fic where Nori finds an abandoned elfling during his wanderings and adopts her. I have lots of notes and even a few scenes written for this fic but I just don't have inspiration for it anymore.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Making people feel things? I also really like roccuring images and metaphors thoughout the story, to emphasis the characters' feelings or background. From several comments I know I am good at writing very strong contrast between the softest scene and the angstiest angst in a few sentences/paragraphs X) (see Náro or Dreams of Doom)
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Verb tenses. English isn't my first language so I admit to go a bit freestyle regarding verbs and sometimes even sentence structure. I also find writing dialogs quite difficult and always fear they'll come out as stilted and artificial, hence why I make the characters speak as little as possible (Tolkien did that, I am only trying to emulate his style XD)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
As said above, dialogues aren't one of my stengths so I try not to incorporate another language unless absolutely necessary to the story.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Percy Jackson, on Wattpad, nearly a decade ago.
20. Favourite fic you've written?
Ask me to choose my favourite child! But if I have to pick the one I am the most proud of, the one I spent most time and research and went really out of my comfort zone to write, it's clearly Dreams of Doom. I feel that, in terms of writing angst and character developement this fic is a turning point in my style.
And since I'm so late I don't tag anyone
