[kim geonhak] — geonhak, no matter how much he wants to, can’t bring himself to interact with his soulmate. however, he can no longer avoid it when his tutee starts drawing all over him during their tutor sessions.

soulmate au wherein writing something on your skin will also appear on your soulmate’s skin. you can only erase your own messages.

Geonhak never really knew what his soulmate link was until it happened

He wasn’t even sure for how long he’s had it

But one thing’s for sure

Is that he will never forget the first interaction he’s had with his soulmate, back when he was in 6th grade

You got him into trouble with all the writings he had on his arm, it didn’t help that Geonhak sat in the front row of his class,,,

“anime recommendations: Code Geass, Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood”

Thankfully his teacher let him off with a warning, something along the lines of “knowing what to prioritize and when is the appropriate time”

He was a good student after all

....who watches their anime after doing their homework :]

So going back to his new-found soulmate link, he has no idea what to do with it at first??? Because at this point, this could be a tattoo link

(If you ask him though, he thinks it’ll be weird if his soulmate’s first words to him would be these.....)

But the opportunities are endless...

And he was a bit eager to find out what his link could be

As soon as he got home, Geonhak, feeling a bit bold, experiments by writing something back

He uses blue, to contrast the black lines etched on his skin

“are these recommendations for me?”

It takes about an hour before Geonhak receives a reply, and he feels the way your pen glides on your skin as you hurriedly write a reply back to him

Now that he knows that his soulmate link allows him to communicate with his soulmate, Geonhak relaxes and lets out a laugh at your profuse apologies

“I’m sorry soulmate, my friend wrote that on my hand TT We were on the way back home so I didn’t have paper with me”

Constantly rereading the message has changed his laughter to shy chuckles, he’s not sure if it’s butterflies in his stomach or his heart beating a little faster

But just reading soulmate was so overwhelming for him that all he can do is smile to himself

He felt secure

Without hesitation, he takes his blue pen and scribbles his answer to you

“It’s alright”

He pauses for a while, contemplating whether or not he should be more forward with his soulmate

His pen is already on his skin as he ponders, so he decides that he’s gone this far...

Might as well, right?

“May I know your name?”

“(y/n) :) And yours?” is what he receives almost immediately

“Geonhak”

oops he forgot something important :O

By the end of that day, both of you have not only introduced yourselves to each other, but have managed to lay down some rules when interacting:

1. No spoiling of anime shows

2. To avoid scolding from teachers, you two established the most appropriate times to be interacting with each other

3. Blue ink for Geonhak, and black ink for you

4. Unless the conversation is so long that it takes up a lot of space, erase messages in the next morning

During those times, Geonhak and you interacted often, most of the time just sending each other random thoughts or encouraging messages

Particularly because having a whole conversation would make it look like both of you have full arm tattoos lol

Not that you two minded anyway since both of you enjoyed each others’ company

Although as both of you aged, your interactions have slowly decreased

Sentences of dialogue everyday have downgraded to barely 5 sentences in a week

While Geonhak doesn’t like calling it as a downgrade, he couldn’t help but feel bad that he can’t bring himself to initiate a conversation as often as he used to

He has become shy, even to his own soulmate

It’s not only his shyness that becomes a barrier for him, but also the demands he must meet as a student

The workload has become too overbearing that he keeps forgetting to check-up on you once in a while

Don’t get him wrong though!!! He still thinks about how you are :<<<

It has become a habit for him to make sure he has a blue pen on his person every time he leaves to go outside

When he feels a bit bored, he tries to learn how to draw more flowers so that he can draw something new once in a while

Sometimes his mind drifts off wondering if you’ve eaten well today :<<<

He really does try his best :<<< He usually needs a little push to get another conversation going but you aren’t initiating a lot of conversations too :’----)

But he doesn’t blame you, because he knows deep down that you have your own worries to think about

On days where his instincs tell him that things are rough for you, he draws a little smiley and flower to cheer you up

You’d reply back with a simple “thank you <3″

And when you feel that Geonhak is feeling stressed, you would remind him that you care about him too

No matter how little the exchanges have grown to become, Geonhak never felt that his connection with you has wavered the slightest bit

Small exchanges and small greetings like those have persisted until the present

Both of you are now college students in your respective fields of choice

Geonhak is an Early Childhood Education major, aiming to work with children in the future

And he’s even more busy than before,,, He, together with his colleagues, have to immerse themselves in a pre-school regularly

He has to prepare different presentations, write essays, make lessons, all for the subjects he’s taking

And on top of that,,, He’s working part-time as a tutor in a nearby tutorial center

It’s tiring, surely it is, but Geonhak is happy where he is now

He knows that everything will pay off in the end!!

Especially being a tutor !! It’s an opportunity for him to gain experience !! plus it looks good on a resume

While he knows that he’s happy, he can only assume that it’s the same case for you :,) He can tell because his instincts don’t really alert him of any stress or negativity coming from you

But he still can’t,,, bring himself to ask you through your soulmate link how you’re doing :,,,,)

Assuming isn’t really helpful y’know but :///

He knows that he has to initiate a conversation with you eventually

He didn’t think it would be,,, THIS soon,,,,

You see...

Today, he was assigned to teach a new student at the tutorial center, and the kid must have been bored of him at some point

Because when Geonhak turned to look at Haechan, his tutee, he saw the kid doodling a bunch of flowers on his arm

And apparently

You replied back .

After recovering from a bit of shock from your sudden reply, he kindly asks Haechan to get off his arm and for him to continue his English assignment so he can get a better look at your message to him

Once he’s sure that Haechan is actually finishing up his worksheets, he peers at Haechan’s flower doodles

Beside one of the flowers in Haechan’s garden, you wrote: “Wow Geonhak, this is a lot more flowers than usual ^^”

He let out a sigh, a bit worried that Haechan’s special message might have appeared on you at a wrong time

Geonhak reaches for the blue pen on his shirt pocket, pops the cap off, and begins to scribble out a reply on the other side of Haechan’s flower garden

“Sorry (y/n), my tutee was drawing on my arm while I was trying to tutor him English. Hope it didn’t disturb you.”

When he’s done writing a reply, he turns to scold Haechan for drawing on him without permission, but he’s met with a smug look from the child

“You have a soulmate don’t cha!” The kid smirks at him.

He’s taken aback at this kid,,, ur like 9,,,,,, u should think about ur homework not soulmates yet,,,,,,

Geonhak: Haechan, do your homework.

Haechan: ...but can I say hi to them? I’ll even encircle the noun and verb on my message.

Geonhak:

Even after all that, Geonhak can’t believe it but he actually owes Haechan for making the move for him, because now you and Geonhak are talking just as frequent as you were in elementary

He learned that you were also tutoring kids on the side, and his heart warms up at the thought of both of you sharing the same passion for education

Each night has become an chance for both of you to talk more about your days and what transpires during both of your tutorial sessions

He’s bonding more with you, thanks to Haechan, who surprisingly still wants Geonhak as his tutor even after getting bored of him on their first session

Although Geonhak isn’t sure if the reason why Haechan seems so attached to him,,,

Is because Geonhak lets him draw on him while he tutors him,,,

Given that he’s quite patient as an individual, he honestly didn’t really mind, because on the brighter side, in motivates Haechan to do better in English

....well he hopes so

His mom insists that Haechan has improved thanks to him but still,,,,

Well the point is = Haechan is still doodling on Geonhak

And you don’t really mind tbh, because even if you don’t know Geonhak’s tutee, you think he’s cute (PLUS the doodles let you know that Geonhak arrived safely to the tutorial center)

The kid sometimes writes on Geonhak’s arm asking you for math help n u do help him out HAHAHAHAHAHA

(Geonhak has to tell Haechan that if he needs a math tutor he can just talk about it with his mom and you know,,, not bother his soulmate when he’s supposed to be learning ENGLISH with him)

So all in all, the days are more exciting for both of you because of the frequency of your conversations!!

At the end of the day when Geonhak lies in bed, he feels blissful when he looks back at all the ridiculous drawings on his arm and the tiny greetings you left for him and Haechan

In fact he feels so blissful that sometimes he ends up sleeping almost immediately while reading them

To the point that

He misses his alarm LMAO

WHICH is exactly what happened today !

Thankfully the other messages on his arm have disappeared but he has no time to wash out the large sunflower field by Haechan

So he just grabs a sweater, combs his hair a bit, and rUNS TO HIS CLASS WHICH STARTS IN 6 MINUTES !!!!!

He was lucky enough that his professor was a bit late

And sleeping in was the only misfortune he experienced for today ! Which he will definitely talk about with you later when he’s done tutoring

And speaking of tutoring, he’s actually on his way to the tutorial center as we speak

He’s about an hour early since his last professor canceled his last class for the day, so he just decided to chill inside and finish up his own work before he meets up with his tutee

Upon entering, Geonhak is a bit surprised to see only a few people inside; there are a few tutors on their phone waiting for their tutees, and a pair who were still having their tutorial session

He isn’t really sure who the people inside were, but he didn’t really find it necessary to know

So Geonhak greets the secretary, and goes to his usual spot to do his work

There really isn’t much happening at this point because everyone is ~ super ~ productive, and Geonhak has managed to finish most of his work in the time he’s spent waiting for Haechan

After deeming it appropriate to finish the rest of his requirements at home, he stands up to retrieve some more textbooks he could use for today’s session

At the same time, someone else joins beside him to return the math textbooks that they used for their tutorial session

As they return each book one by one, Geonhak can’t miss the familiar sunflower drawing on their left arm

Geonhak is just assuming that Haechan finally asked his mom for a math tutor

Feeling a bit bold, he decides to break the ice

“Oh are you tutoring Haechan too?” He asks you. Your head snaps at his direction, and you have no idea how to answer this stranger,,, Who you assume also tutors at this center too,,,

“Me?” You ask back. “No I don’t actually, I haven’t tutored someone named Haechan.” You can see that the man in front of you suddenly felt embarrassed for asking you, so you try to help him out by asking him why he asked.

“It’s just that the drawing on your arm looks really familiar.” Geonhak says as he points at your left arm. Your eyes follow where he’s pointing, and you let a laugh out.

“Ah this one?” You touch the garden on your arm. “I didn’t draw this, I’ve had this drawing on me since yesterday. I’m actually surprised that it’s still here.”

Yesterday, huh?

Hm .

Wait...

Wait a minute.

You’re starting to be a little uncomfortable with the way Geonhak is eyeing your arm, he’s been squinting at it for a while and he hasn’t said anything since,,,,

You’re about to ask him if he’s okay, but someone beats you to it

Well the little kid who just passed by didn’t really ask him if he was okay

The kid just slaps Geonhak’s ass and greets him cheerily

“Hiya Geonhak! I’m here, let’s goooOOO!”

That was enough to snap him out of his thoughts, now both of you are watching the mischievous kid enter the study room, particularly to the table where Geonhak placed his backpack

“Did he say your name was Geonhak?” You turn to face him again, a smile creeping onto your face. You seem to have started connecting the dots one by one.

“Yes, it is actually.” He replied. He’s about to ask you for your name, but as soon as he affirms his identity, you’re fishing out for your black pen. The little pen key-chain that’s on your school ID.

You pop off the cap and start scribbling beside the sunflowers on your arm.

Geonhak feels the pen on his skin, and he’s quick to look down at his left arm. While you’re scribbling, he takes his left hand out of his sweater’s pocket and pulls the sleeve down with his right hand.

By that time you’ve finished writing, and when your eyes shift to look at him, you can’t help but smile at the blue pen that’s peeking out of his sweater pocket.

Gundam Wing Rewatch Part 2

So unlike last time where I watched half the series and then tried to remember everything, this time I took notes the whole way through. That means some of this has a ‘live-blog’ feel to it, and I’ll sum up my feelings at the end.

1) What is up with Duo hitting the self destruct and not... self destructing. 2) See, now you’re back to being Zechs. I guess he defaults to Zechs when he isn’t sure of himself, because it is a facade that is comforting to him (added later: yeah, he definitely uses that side of him as a crutch) 3) Praise the Lord for Releena Peacecraft and Lucretzia Noin Re: creating defenses for the sanc kingdom. Actually praise the lord for them anyways. 4) Heero oscillates between being very communicative and exceptionally taciturn. I don’t think he does it at will. The lying, however, I think he’s completely aware of although he might not know how to stop it. Get this boy a therapist please. 5) Quatre makes an interesting distinction between people meant to fight and people meant to lead 6) Treize stop being charming. Just stop. 6b) You too, Zechs

So Epyon showed Treize he was gonna die, which explains why he wasn’t really worried about Heero shooting him. I guess if Epyon shows the same thing to Heero, Treize will feel a little better about having to cut out of the party early. Kind of sad to think about though. Also, wise when giving a suit to Heero Yuy to take the self det offline. Very wise.

That answers a question I have had since childhood. Why does Epyon not have any ranged weapons? Because it was designed to fight mobile dolls, who have shields that render anything but the beam canon useless. Maaaakes sense. WHO THOUGHT THE ZERO SYSTEM WAS A GOOD IDEA? Like just... Everyone who touches it goes crazy. Yes, Heero, Quatre and Zechs all manage to make it work, but GATDANG that stuff is no bueno.

Amnesiac Trowa breaks my fucking heart. I don’t blame Catherine for having him call her sister, because she basically is, so it does make things a little easier to explain. Every time he shows up I similarly feel wildly protective so good job. Also A+ for a female character who likes to show up without wearing much and is never treated less by the narrative for it.

Hilde never really gets to the same level of greatness as the other female characters, but that’s kind of fair. The cast of GW is huge. She’s not bad, she’s just a little bland.

Also, weirdly, playing against type, Heero’s ongoing deep philosophical understanding of human nature and politics and Quatre’s ability to seamlessly slide through a battlefield leaving blood in his wake. There’s a lot less stereotyping going on than I remember. LOL @ Romefeller constantly trying to play catch-up to Treize’s charisma The fight against the invasion force at the Sanc Kingdom actually has me emotionally invested? Also Epyon is a Problem Child (TM). MAGUANAC COOOOOOORPS. Kay I love them idgaf they’re just SO GOOD. The Sanc Kingdom takeover must have been one of the most costly things they’ve attempted? Like the amount of troops they go through is bonkers.

Dorothy, you’re a wad. “You should definitely take up arms to defend your ideals of pacifism.” Releena ain’t falling for that. She’d rather dissolve her country and save the lives than betray her morality.

EPISODE 36 MARKS THE FIRST TIME RHYTHM EMOTION IS PLAYED IIRC AND IT’S GREAT. Ngl they play it a few times when things get real and it still hypes me up.

Heero and Zechs are two people who spend way more time fighting each other than they should. Why, guys.

“They should leave the fighting to me. I’m the only one who should have to suffer.” DUO JEEZ. “As they say, evil attracts evil.” Fucking get this boy to a therapist.

Lol @ Sandrock’s first fight in space where everyone else is really worried about the gundam but it is actually the least well equipped for space atm so really they should be worrying about the other guys

Man, I like Treize, okay? Like I think his idea is dumb (he’s not the only one with it though sideeyes Code Geass but like... He trades Releena spots for a bunch of reasons. One, she was going to be successful and that’s an issue. But also because he knows that if things go well, somebody’s going to have to die, and when he is talking to a comatose Une at her bedside (btw UNE’S BACK, kinda) it’s just... it’s sad. YAAAAY Everyone is finally in the same spot for once. I guess that’s how you know we’re getting near the end. Functional Amnesiac Trowa is a lot easier to watch, and Duo and Heero reuniting is a great time. It reminds you how likeable they all are.

Amnesia cure via Zero System WELL THAT WORKS Also p surprised that Releena didn’t vidcall Milliardo with ‘what the fuck are you doing’

The politics/philosophy in GW really varies in quality. Sometimes they have some Important Shit to say, and other times it’s like... what does that even MEAN THOUGH. After a completely nonsensical conversation with Releena where half of what was said was pretty dumb (except her call-out. Burn.) they then manage to salvage it with something profound. Milliardo asks Quinze if he thinks that he’s weak for what he just saw with his sister. Quinze replies that no, in Milliardo wasn’t capable of trying to protect people, he wouldn’t be leader. That’s a very fair point I think.

Quatre begging not to go under the Zero system again sounds like he’s asking someone not to torture him... which it basically is. But him basically deciding to risk his sanity to help the team is very Quatre of him, and it also gives us Team Leader Quatre which is a bit of a subversion of his character archetype and I love it.

What are the rules to Space Empathy TM? No one know.

Okay sometimes this show really nails the badass elements. “There are no survivors.” Is an example. I laughed, but wow

Heero insinuating that Milliardo and Treize’s war is based on personal things (which is true, in a roundabout way) is kind of hilarious. His conversation with Releena is cute, too. His unfailing motivation in turn motivates her, and she’s shown time and time again how hilariously good she is at influencing people. They have very different roles, but they’re complimentary.

Hilde... redeems herself a little. It was nice to see her go out and DO a thing. Also, gimme my Une. Why she still asleep. Her boyfriend is gonna die in space. Where is my Une.

Screaming a little. I don’t remember how the series ends or how Treize dies. This is gonna be rough.

There’s Une. Suddenly, and like a boss. Hello. And then... does Une know? Like does she KNOW? It sounds like she does. It LOOKS like she does.

Okay so... the Dorothy and Quatre fight. He’s got her beat, talent-wise, and is absolutely not buying into the bullshit she’s spouting. Duo calling the scientists ‘the gods of plague’ is VERY fitting and I love his overdramatic ass so much. Dorothy is a cheap jerk... and she somehow discovered Treize’s plan. I reluctantly give her credit. She’s an interesting character but I really don’t like her much.

And Quatre, after being STABBED, still joins back in the fight.

I’m not sure why Zechs is till fighting in the end unless it’s to chase death. I mean, that’s probably it, and Heero isn’t buying it. Also Treize’s death was a lot harder to watch than I remember. Zechs is definitely trying to die in space, but we’ve all seen Endless Waltz. It doesn’t stick.

Heero shouting that he will survive, after how much he degrades himself and says he isn’t worth anything, is a great end. And the mirror with the birthday card vs her party invitation is also pretty great. It doesn’t tell us a lot about what happens to everyone else, but I guess that’s what Endless Waltz is for.

Okay so, end summary...

Gundam Wing is some good shit. I don’t know if it would hold up without the nostalgia factor and I have no way to tell, but I enjoyed myself. It has a few faults. It’s 22 years old and showing it’s age, it has some overused tropes in it, stuff like that. But the characters are just as interesting as I remember, the plot is better than I gave it credit for, and the music is fuckin’ on point. I genuinely had a great time re-watching it, and am proud to list it as one of the few shows I’ve seen cover to cover. They set up and examine character archetypes, they discuss some very interesting things about what peace means, and what people are worth, and they show us a very interesting, textured world full of very interesting people.

I’m gonna watch Endless Waltz again tomorrow and I’ll probably do a write up for that too.

10/10, do not regret my life as a fan

Aight and here's all the shit I got plus all the badges I could find for the years I've been to Sabo.

I'll put a read more about like. Everything because I admittedly wanna talk about it, like Sabo as a whole because like I said in my last post, I think that's gonna be the last Saboten I'm going to...at least unless I do a booth. But that's besides the point. So yeah read more if you wanna read all my nostalgia shit. Stop here if you're good, lol. I’m warning you, it’s fucking long AF.

2009: My second ever convention. I actually got to go because a friend of mine got tickets for her birthday and she invited me to go with her. I was, like, the kind of person I think her parents wanted her to be like? ‘Cause at the time I was a nerd, but I was introverted and I think they were under the impression that I was a good christian straight girl(™) and well. Lol, neither of us were. This was way before I ever tried doing cosplay, and well, technically I did a really shitty Misty at PCC that same year, but like. OMG. It was terrible. I think this was the year I did a ‘lolita?’ outfit? But really it was just me trying to be edgy. It was kind of cute, but man, I would never wear it today.

2010: So this was senior year of high school and the con was actually at the Hilton just down the street from my school. It was my third convention and I got tickets for my friend and I invited my cousin, but he got food poisoning on one of the days he was going to go, so I ended up soloing it for the rest of the weekend. I went as Miki from Shugo Chara and...it was...bad, lol. I tried making the hat, and well, it was a craftfoam hat and everything else I just kind of found around the house. I don’t remember much else from this con to be honest, just that...I went as Miki for at least one day.

2011: This was the year that I got a lot more into Hetalia. I had just graduated from high school and was still kind of...figuring myself out. I dragged an, at the time, friend there with me to a Hetalia cafe and that was fun. I think that was the first time I’d had a con squish? Crush??? The America was mega cool and ooh, I know that was also the year I went to the Eyeshine concert! I was really into Johnny Yong Bosch’s voice ‘cause I was watching Code Geass and Bleach at the time, and well. I like voice actors a whole bunch? And the concert was really cool and I still have the video I saved from it...and yeah. Good times. Actually, p great times, heh.

2012: This was the year I finally went with con friends! God, it was such a good time because for once I had people to hang out with the whole weekend. I’d met a good majority of them at the last PCC and one of the main people I remember is Maddi who’s still one of my best of best friends. There’s also Sabby and again, one of the best friends a person can ever have. We weren’t close at the time, but I do have a pic with her in it? So. She was there. And I think one of the people in it is Hanna who is an awesome person and I love her so much. She’s great like, the coolest person and dang it all, I love my friends?

And then there are a lot of people that I hung out with at the time that...admittedly, I want to forget. One of them, I hate so very very much. Because they were a toxic person and terrible to my best friends and fuck, I wish I had actually stood up for my friends when I was younger and called out some of the shit they pulled because I should have. But. Well. Hindsight...and then the other? Well, I don’t hate but...I guess thinking back on things? It’s awkward and I was awkward and man, that was a...time. I see ‘em sometimes and it’s like, sweet bajeebus you haven’t changed at all.

There was a lot of shit that happened on the last day and like, one of it was there was a panel that didn’t go well and then the other was someone was kinda mega rude to a friend? And while yeah I understand their stance on things, they said things in a rude way that just...could’ve been said a lot better or at least in a kinder way.

But as a sidenote, that was the year I got Laboon! And I still have him, and I still love him. He’s a good whale.

2013: ...this was...the year of kind of an end to some things. But, the beginning of some really REALLY great things. This was the year I became really good friends with Jed, who is like, one of the best of best friends a person could have. He’s such a cool dude, and nerd, but also cool and I might not say it often enough but I’m really lucky to have become his friend. I gotta say that for all my friends, especially Sabby, Maddi, and Jed. I love y’all so much and really, I can’t imagine what my life would be like without y’all?

Anyway, this was the most stressful con I had ever been to. Admittedly? The first day was p good, I went as Cecil (here we go, Cecil version 1 lol) and Jed was Carlos and we had a good time all around. Theeeen Twitter ‘cause at the time, there was a lot of like...sonas for the websites and I was like, I have all that, I’ll be twitter! ...but I ended up having to wait a….long time for my friends to arrive and god, there was just...nothing but drama that day. It was not good.

Day 3 was 1000% better because me and Jed went back to Cecil and Carlos and all around that was just a dang good time. I think someone had actually told me that I was their headcanon Cecil? Which like. Literally made everything that weekend so much better because I was using my real hair (which at the time was sort of long) and I played up my brown skin. There were quite a few other Cecils, but from what I could remember, most of them were the blond white ones and that kind of helped me stand out.

Oh, and that was the first year we attempted flower crowns! Well, I tried, I literally got two garlands of roses and wrapped them around each other. We lost them on the first day, but another Carlos and Cecil found them, which was hilarious to me and I was really glad that happened actually, hah.

2014: HELL.

2015: --god no do you really wanna know about 2014? Okay one sec.

2014: So. I didn’t wanna pay for a ticket. I REALLY didn’t wanna pay for a ticket because also I was flat broke and honestly cons were so far out my price range at the time I shouldn’t have done it.

I did it anyway.

So 2014 was the year of volunteering and doing panels. It was also the first year we did a photo shoot, which was really fun and Maddi’s and Sabby’s were great. I still do love the ones we did for me and Jed, but there was something really nice and bright about the X-Ray and Vav stuff. To be completely honest? I don’t remember much like, for specifics of the con, just that we did panels and that I met a p cool Garrus cosplayer (who still cosplayed the same Garrus at PCC this year, and from the looks of it, it didn’t seem he made it at all more comfortable and I was like, DUDE. MAKE IT SO YOU CAN FREAKING SIT HOLY FUCK).

I’ve admittedly been going back through all my social media accounts to see if anything could jog my memory, and the only thing I remember clearly was that someone thought I was master chef in my Geoff cosplay and that was funny to me.

...I was also apparently America for a day. Which was p alright because I was admittedly a dang great America. Funny story, the only reason I know I was America was because someone from my past recognized us and snapped a pic. I’m like, looking at it and it’s just so funny to me that it turned out as good as it was for like, a really quick throw together thing.

2015: SHIT I HAD TO GO BACK TO MY OLD SHIT TO SEE WHAT THE HELL I WAS AND I FORGOT I THREW TOGETHER A CASUAL!DORIAN FOR THAT. Good fucking god, that’s hilarious, I was always somehow left tiddy commitee...even though it was a v casual Dorian, I guess I just had the right amount of hair for it, lol.

Also, it was the year that we did a panel for the Ladies of Hetalia and then we also did a Youtuber Let’s Players panel with prizes and I only remember spending the night before making those prizes, but the one that everyone really loved was the Geoff picture, which also was a fucking pain in the ass to make because would you be surprised that that picture was really hard to find a good enough quality one to print out? The best thing was though, that I kept running into the people who won the picture and I think some sort of cult formed around it. I’m not sure. I worry for that picture frame sometimes…

I think that was also the last time I cosplayed Cecil. Sabby was my Dana, which I mega appreciate her for, and I took a lot of liberties on my outfit...and based it much more heavily on the weirdness of Cec rather than the button up and tie version that was really popular. It was more fun just to do a Cecil cosplay TBH, and I actually can’t tell if Jed was there or not? I’m also not sure if Maddi was either...uhhh, most of the stuff I can find are selfies of me and Sabby which...I’m not sure of a lot of details actually.

2016: Man, that was the year of Undertale, Dragon Age, and Hamsteak. Er. Homestook. HOMESTUCK. Also the year I got a really nice camera to take pictures with. It was really fun because I got some great pics of our God Tier outfits and I’m still p happy with my Dave cape. Special thanks to Jed for making 99% of that hood. I still owe him a fuck ton.

This was also the year that me and Sabby went to a really fun quiz panel with an awesome Mettaton who is still p dang cool. I wasn’t sure if there was another this year? I don’t think I was able to make it to it, and I know that there was just so much work put into it, I was super blown away.

I also brought back Fen one last time, and that was fun. I dabbed for a dude and that made him super happy, then I just fucked around for the rest of the con. Ooh, also there was Naruto running. Late at night because also, sometimes you just gotta be a fucking loser with your friends. We...kind of started a whole thing? And I feel a little bad looking back on it? But it was at least, at first, just me and Hanna that Naruto ran down the empty hallway to Haruka Kanata and that was just. Such a fun time.

We did another photoshoot that year too, got some legit pics for hamsteak cosplays which was awesome. Then I had a lot of fun editing them. I’d say there’s more to say for this con, but...not really. Oh, but we did spend a lot of time in the activity lounge? Which I love the activity lounge ‘cause they have crayons and hang up your drawings on the walls and I did a ‘great’ drawing of Dave and Karkat that someone took home.

2017: So here we are, eight years later. To be honest? I was actually sort of dreading this con. There was so much just...not happening and I was feeling kind of eh...and I should’ve definitely gotten more done on Gabe but I didn’t. So instead I did Boxerwatch which was still fun, and my armor actually held up really fucking well. Which I was mega happy abound.

Saturday was kind of...a time. Like, I wanted to have fun, and I know I looked cool AF? But it was so hot and humid and I was in like, three layers of clothes and craftfoam and I didn’t bring a change of clothes. Which was stupid on my part. But! Jenny lent me her hot dog costume? Which literally made my day and it turned the whole thing from an /eh day to a THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER sort of time. I’m not gonna lie, I love wearing those mascot sort of costumes because the shenanigans you can have while wearing them. It’s just so good.

Sunday was awesome because I got to hang out with Clyde, Sam, Ray, and I met Keyboard who is p dang cool. Also, I met my hello new person quota of one, so, double accomplishment. On top of that? My armor held up ridiculously well that day and so did my shitty painted on beard and I was literally. So fucking comfortable. I know I was missing a fuck ton of things for Gabe but it worked out alright since I went with a mega casual version. I’m definitely gonna make sure I can wear that jacket anywhere I go though because I love it a bunch? And it was mega comfy. Plus I’m thinking of making the shoulder pads something permanent to the jacket so I could have my own Gabriel Reyes jacket to just. Wear and feel cool in. Well, not cool. More like fucking sweltering because also I live in AZ.

Monday was just a casual day. I think I’m coming down with something and I wasn’t gonna kill myself by wearing Hanzo so, I edged it up. I was kind of really bummed because the Eyeshine concert was cancelled and it was sort of the main thing I was looking forward to all weekend? But I think Sabo might have messed it up p badly because on the website they set it for Sunday at night, which would’ve been perfect ‘cause then all three of us could’ve gone. But the schedule moved it to Monday and I was sad ‘cause it was their farewell tour...and I kind of felt like it’d be just...one of the perfect ways to end my time going to Sabo.

And so yeah, that’s kind of it? Like, I definitely did have fun over the years, there was stress AF during some parts, but then there were some really really great times. I’ve sort of...lost a lot of interest in anime since I started going, and while I will admit, I do still enjoy watching it, I’m so choosy about what I like and what I’ll watch that a lot of the main things available at Sabo don’t interest me nearly as much. There’s one more anime cosplay I wanna do, and admittedly it’d be really freaking easy to pull off...just gotta get the stuff. But other than that single cosplay, I just...I would like to focus on different things. Plus, it’s just so hard to get stuff together because of the timing of it all. Working as a teaching assistant means that I have very little time during those weeks leading up to the con to do anything. The week before was kind of hell, as I had to stay on campus until at least 5:30 most days and god, I couldn’t work on really anything. That and I didn’t have the mental capacity to work on Gabe over the summer, plus I’d planned to have Cyberninja!Hanzo at least started but that just couldn’t happen.

But anyway, that’s it really! This turned out a lot longer than I meant for it to be and I’m probably going to cross post this onto my DeviantArt. So thank you Saboten-Con, it’s been one helluva ride. There were some ups, downs, turns, and spins and while some of those times really really sucked...there were many others that were just so great and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.
