opening commissions
due to my current circumstances, i need to raise some money so i would like to open commissions for (realistic) digital paintings! (i’m open to other mediums i’ll touch on this more further down)
just for some background, i have a ba in studio art, specializing in graphic design, and my focus and thesis (rock and trash paintings below) were in digital painting. i am willing to paint just about anything, including but not limited to: nsfw, fursuits, gore, people, animals and inanimate objects, etc. BUT nothing illegal. do NOT send me reference images depicting real life crimes. i have a particular style of painting which you will see below, and i am most confident in painting in that style. i am willing to paint another style if you insist, but i cannot guarantee quality in any other style so request different styles at your own risk.
also, another disclaimer: i have lost all of the original files of my art due to fleeing domestic violence situations, so the only files i have are from tumblr so the images are rather small. (the two top images are larger so you can see more detail if you click)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don’t own the right to the pink season album art this is just a demonstration of my skill (also sorry to add an unfinished painting but this is the only surviving file of this painting and i do think it gives some insight into my technique and process that the others don’t)
pricing!
object/subject with simple (one color or gradient) background: $100- $150 (depending on complexity)
object/ subject with background: $140- $200 (depending on complexity of the background)
multiple objects will be priced accordingly
background without object: $50- $100 (depending on complexity)
other mediums!
as i prefer digital painting and am more confident in it, i would prefer to make digital painting commissions. but i do have experience with other mediums and am open to doing illustrations, and even other media (pricing will be decided case by case) so i do want to offer more options for people who are interested in helping me out in this circumstance but you want to get something for your money, and you don’t want a painting, or you want something more affordable.
i think i can’t add links or this post will be undiscoverable so please request a link for my portfolio if you would like art in another medium besides digital painting (otherwise if you are able to view my blog page there is a link titled my art)
illustration pricing:
bust with simple (one color or gradient) background: $25
bust with illustrated background: $50 (unusually complex backgrounds will be priced accordingly)
full figure with simple (one color or gradient) background: $50 (unusually complex figures will be priced accordingly)
full figure with illustrated background: $75- $100 (depending on complexity)
PLEASE HELP ME OUT AND SHARE AND CONTACT ME IF YOU’RE INTERESTED IN COMMISSIONING ME!!

So it's been a while since i last posted, what with my country being in war and all, but let's do a quick recap of things i found absolutely absurd in the last couple of weeks:
1. People denying the rape and gender abuse caused by the Hamas terrorrists on October 7th. Yes, those things did happen. Yes, we can prove that via GoPro cameras, eyewitness and survivors. No, many of the victims cannot testify themselves because they were murderd right after. BTW, major women's rights organizations had yet to comment on the crimes commited on October 7th, despite having given proof and several requests to do so by 150 women's rights groups in Israel.
2. People on Tiktok legit support Bin Laden now?? The man who constructed the biggest terror attack on the USA ever in the name of getting rid of "infidels"?? His letter to America is FULL of antisemtic propaganda, but then again - people did say "gas the jew" in an anti-Israel rally so that's not really surprising that those who suddenly view him as hero can't tell the difference between opposing a country and being antisemite.
3. People claiming Jews appropriate the term "antisemite". Yes, "semite" is an umbrella term for the descendants of Shem, son of Noah. BUT the term "antisemite" was created, and used, as a term describing hate against Jews specifically. I srsly CANNOT belive i need to protect a term that was created to explain hate against my and my religion, but here we are.
4. People claiming hostages were taken to Shifa hospital for treatment, and that that shows Hamas' humanity. Dude. DUDE. Just by using the word "hostages" you should understand why this is fucked up. In released footage you can see that the people taken were workers (from Thailand iirc), and definitely not soldiers. So no matter how you look at it - violation of international law.
5. This deserve another point - even if Hamas did treat some of the hostages (and that is a BIG if, considering the Red Cross had never visited them, nor really demanded to do so) this does not make them the good guys - these are civilian hostages taken to a hospotal under threats, and then never heard of again by Hamas. This is a hospital that was proven to have had waapons and tunnels within and that not only Israeli intelligence says was used as a terror based. How can one watch the footage of a civilian capable of walking being dragged around while medical workers only watch and say "oh yes, these Hamas guys are decent"?
6. No one talks about Hamas propaganda od hostages. So i will - since October 7th Hamas has uploaded several videos of hostages as a psychological war. Most containd hostages reading a statement (probably in order to cause political and social mayham in Israel), but some others were worse and showed 2 hostages (one of them an 86 year old man) dead. There are 7 videos in total as far as i remeber. Compare that to the videos ISIS used to make, imagine what this does to a family. And before you start saying "imagine what it's like for a Gazan to see their family dead online" - i have NEVER said Gazans aren't suffering, nor will i ever will. But those videos in Gaza are not posted by israelis, and Israel has not posted a single video of Palestinian prisoners (yes, prisoners, none of the Palestinians taken into Israeli prison were taken for the kick of it) directed at Gaza or at Hamas. This is ISIS tactics.

Chapter 150. So much to say. I'll say a quick aside first that i love the mention of Luo Wenzhou feeling like he's right back to when he heard Lao Yang died, shaking as he grips the doorframe. Cause he's often so STRONG and keeps steady emotionally during so many crises, he earns the nickname of superhero and deservedly. But in a moment like that, despite it all, he feels as human as me and as weak as me or anyone else when the panic and fear and Crushing weight of emotions finally is ruining his ability to function like a superhero. He's just as emotionally distraught as anyone might be in the situation, fumbling just like anyone would, unable to be the Perfect hero in those moments in the hospital. Just trying to do whatever left to do while hes emotionally raw and totally unable to get out from under his emotions drowning him. I felt that scene was needed for a character like Luo wenzhou. I also liked how in retrospect he realizes the great blindspot he had for suspecting shiniang. How in a way, it parallels his huge Willful blind spot he had for Fei Du: knowing fei du was likely manipulating him, stealing info, spying, but letting him in the emotional based hope fei du wouldn't do anything harmful with it. Pained when fei du confessed to the spying, when Luo wenzhou had to finally face explicitly he'd let fei du do that for so long. He emotionally Wants to believe in the best of his loved ones. It's why he knew fei du was spying but just let him, knew fei du may well be capable of killing people but left him alone to accumulate his secret organization for taking revenge. That same trait of Luo wenzhous is why he didn't think to suspect shiniang. Why he let her HATE him so much he couldn't visit for years. Why he let her daughter, Lao yangs daughter, spy on him and play them all too.
Because once he decides "this is my family" and "I care about them" he wants so badly to keep seeing them as HIS people and trustworthy. With Fei Du it was a special case in that Fei Du HAD the red flags he might murder or be cruel for most of their relationship, what with saying he enjoyed hurting things and would like to Strangle and would make a secret org to do Crimes as both a child and an adult who really should be suspected when as an adult they're still doing it as suspicious things happen around them (and to be fair I think fei du partly desperately wanted TO be honest to Luo wenzhou and that's why Luo wenzhou heard him say such things). But even with red flags galore for years, Luo wenzhou chose to love and trust him unconditionally. So of course a man like that, to people without such red flags, who he also views as family... of course he would have a blind spot. Even if he did suspect them, like all his loved ones he'd WANT to believe they didn't have bad intentions even if they lied to him. So shiniang and her daughter proving to have lied to him? Wow that's a lot.
I wonder if it will also in the long run shake his relationship with fei du. After all, fei du is another person who DID lie to him. Who he kept choosing to trust even knowing he was being lied to, in the hopes fei du did not have bad intentions. Since shiniang and her daughter did actually have bad intentions and get people killed, I wonder if that will bleed into Luo wenzhous perception of fei du.
(However I will say in contrast... fei du choosing to admit what he did definitely earns Luo Wenzhous trust in a way that makes their relationship harder to shake, and fei du had also always been seen almost as Luo wenzhous own child. In the sense of responsibility to take care of fei du, to "save" him. Luo wenzhou loves fei du in the unconditional way you would love your own child even if they smashed your house up and screamed they wanted to kill someone. They're your responsibility to get help for, to protect even when they're being bad, to keep alive and try to make a better future for, to steer toward being a good person even if no one else believes they are worth trying to teach to be kinder. Luo wenzhous utterly unconditional love, like a parent loves almost, does mean in fei dus case I think he's unable to stop caring for him. Sure, fei du can break his trust. And certainly as an adult, fei du would face consequences now if Luo wenzhou sees he is lied to. But even if they were estranged, even if fei du full on killed a person, Luo wenzhou might feel betrayed but he'd still ultimately want to work things out. Maybe he'd even sever their connection line for communication... but I doubt Luo wenzhou would. Because fei du fears abandonment so Luo wenzhou doesn't have the heart to even temporarily abandon him, would be too worried fei du would not be able to cope if he did. And Luo wenzhou drove away when fei du confessed and STILL CAME BACK WITH FOOD AND BROKE IN AND COOKED AND MADE THEM TALK AGAIN. So even if fei du did lie more, do the Worst... Luo wenzhou would ensure they talked again. Even if fei du had to go to prison lets say lmao, Luo wenzhou would be there to visit his ass every other day and suggest counselors and suggest lawyers to help him shorten the sentence and order him around to be good and reflect on the bullshit he did and all the rest. Luo Wenzhou is WAY too attached to fei du to ever truly cut him off, even if fei du betrays him. Even if your kid betrays you, you still care for them. Even though fei du is an adult now... and you might limit contact with a violent 30 year old child the way you'd not do that to a 14 year old... Luo wenzhou isn't the type. He just couldn't. Emotionally fei du IS HIS PERSON. That's more true than anyone else in the world. When Luo wenzhou told him your MY PERSON he really meant it with his entire soul.)

now as for why his other crimes against claudia and black and disabled women go unnoticed, i'm going to hazard a guess that you stepped into the ◻️ side of the fandom and especially the side where louis is purely an object for lestat's gratification and not a whole person. where any analysis of louis is only in relation to loustat (which is common for lewis because that's what anne wrote him as).
it's an interesting manifestation of white supremacy where black characters are only seen in relation to white characters.
*claudia's relationship with louis doesn't matter but you'll see endless conversations about whether lestat loved claudia
*all the black women prostitutes and louis as their pimp never get airtime (which btw might give insight as to how louis sees women generally and later on himself) but antoinette the most transparent character gets days of analysis
*louis' relationship with his family isn't discussed (and yet who he is and how he behaves in his own family is informed by this) but when it's time to put up lestat defence you will hear everything about his father, mother, brood of siblings and his cousins if they can be unearthed
u make a rly interesting point on how louis viewed women being part of why his days as hbic of storyville flow in the beats that they do… we’re introduced to the aftermath of bricktop fighting off the alderman who tried to rape her but the framing is more like ah just another busy day for mr du lac cleaning up after some bs again just before the vampire shit. drunk rapist racist man calls louis a racial slur? ahh hes not just that slur u see, ur speaking to louis de pointe du lac& he owns 8 of these 14 properties or however many r down the block. we literally only see the musicmen in the azalea, we no longer need to see him ‘cleaning up’ after nobody. aww aint that nice lou [LOL]. playing stan wars over evil vampire yaoi is stupid but ig its cuz i dont subscribe to the church of white supremacy ppl seem to think im an ‘apologist’ for certain fictional characters or try to group me into certain fan camps. #jobless . theres certainly merit in analyzing lestat x louis relationship n how louis fits into that + how lestat’s own past informs his present [u need ingredients to bake a cake, even if the cake is 150 years old] but u make points in how ppl can be a bit more lenient to lestat bc hes white, even moreso if theyre coming from vc fanon bc post interview lestat is the/a central character n vc fans love framing les as the hero lolz. but i do wonder if louis was kept white would fans still stretch and hyperanalyze cuz they cant see a bm exploiting bw or having a readily available farm of humans in dubai as ‘evil enough’ n would be more readily able to recognize where louis’s moral complexities n capacity for evil in canon lie as is? w/o tryna badger down black fans or fans who dont wanna play into harebrained theories when louis’s actual crimes r right there as ~~ dumb louis fans tryna cry apologetics ~~~ or w/e idk. i think show wise claudia and louis’s relationship is fascinating bc theyre both creole [i have a post n sandwiched in a bs response to an ask i mention how i think the mind link they had/have serves a metaphor to this as well] and vampire siblings/parent and child/etc etc.. emotional codependence predicated on the denial of claudia ever being allowed to be woman, bc louis wanted a child, wanted something to fill the emptiness of losing his family/wealth all in one, but she is selectively mature when it serves louis for her to be. shes coming up on 33, can the children kill the father, can claudia take this out my hands

So I'm stepping away from this Harry Potter re-read podcast after book 7 because I want to check out some other potential similar podcasts and see if I like them better.
My take on this one was that they were very good at spotting some of the crimes of JKR. Her centrist politics, her view of how social change happens, the terrible slavery and antisemitism, and a few other things.
But there were a few fatal flaws in these two hosts take. The first and foremost in my mind is that they fundamentally don't understand how fascist states work and think they do. They also seem deeply unfamiliar with the genre of resistance stories. This leads them to have some particularly bizarre takes on what they consider "bad writing". But neither of these things really surprised me because since these episodes were recorded across 2018-2021 so I know exactly what their real life politics are. Imagine two Bernie Bros who think Elizabeth Warren was someone to mock and who were very bitter that people were happy Joe Biden won the election and what the flaws they might have critiquing centrist politics. Yes they have some valid points but just because JKR is wrong doesn't make their ideas good.
For @darthmelyanna one of the bigger issues is that they don't remember or know or understand Lord of the Rings as well as they think. For me they don't understand 1930s politics in either the UK or Germany as well as they think they do. And for both of us they really don't understand Christian allegory or Christianity which is really bad when they try to read absolutely every element of book 7 as some kind of "ham fisted Christian allegory". And to me that's kind of one of the flaws here. Yes JKR had Lord of the Rings on the brain but they misidentify the elements she's lifting. Yes there are Christian allegories in this story but the entire story isn't a Christian allegory. They spot some of these elements apply their misremembered or incomplete understanding of the thing and decide that JKR doesn't understand what she's doing or is lazy.
I mentioned this earlier that they also thought the last few books were adult books written for adult audiences. Which causes them to make a lot of fundamental mistakes. Those books were messes and I'm not saying JKR wrote good books there by any means. Just that if you know just a bit more about a subject than these hosts did what they're saying becomes complete gibberish and one of the things that worries me is that it undermines the project they are doing which I think at it's roots is good.
Which is all I think the fatal flaw of this project but there are some what I'll call more minor sins. I think they have shipper brain rot despite the idea that they think they were giving the books a fair chance. JKR regrets about pairing off Ron and Hermione are somehow valid because they fit their own shipping takes but all her other post books statements are somehow bad and terrible. Romantic development they don't like is not character development. Their favorite characters were given extremely generous readings while other fans interpretations which were at least as supported in the books (or more so) were fan fiction.
And on the subject of fan fiction one of the hosts clearly read a lot of fan fiction and says that the last novel "reads like fan fiction" and says repeatedly that that there is nothing wrong with fan fiction. But she clearly means it as an insult when talking about the actual book. I also think there was a dynamic between the podcasts hosts that didn't help things here where one of them would dominate the other and unfortunately the one who would dominate was the weaker of the pair for the task they set before them.
I listened to about 150 episodes of this and while I don't think it was a waste of my time all of the above was why I wasn't going to recommend it.

It'd been a while since I'd done a r-dblr purge (mark red and block if they are actively cruel to trans people within the first page of their blog. You'd think feminist issues would be the bulk of posting, it's r-dical feminism after all and all the issues are ongoing. BTW I don't block people for hating men, they have a right to vent and it takes time to understand the systems at play that do allow for decent men even if you're not ready to to partner with any cishet ones) I probably marked and blocked 150 today, many 18-24 years old, lots of them lonely.
Doing the scan of a blog to make sure I'm not marking someone who didn't get the dogwhistles in a bigoted post means you see a lot of the content they're angry about.
I too hate porn unless it's safe sane and enthusiastically consensual.
That means performers who know exactly what they are getting into, who have alternatives if they want a different job and can set boundaries without being pushed or blacklisted for it. The majority of porn doesn't fit but the advent of amateur, onlyfans and ethical studios gives people options to view porn where no-one is hurt.
I also believe that all viewers need to know that pron is sex stunts and some things will not work for them, cause chafing or stds, cause injury if perfomed for real. That should be part of the viewing, a little PSA 'don't try this at home we're actors, we rehearsed the hair pulling so no-one's scalp got torn and switched condoms and edited it out'. Honestly I find most of the porno tropes misogynistic, macho and racist even though we've mostly left gonzo behind.
Straight Male performers aren't allowed to be shown as into their partner... when behind the scenes they get quite tender, briefly besotted with their partner when it's not an ego driven star.
I also have hard boundaries about what kind of porn a partner would watch. I pay extra for no slavery in my chocolate and expect a partner diligent enough to get their porn from people not getting boundaries violated or work injuries.
But there's no nuance to rdfm anti porn stances. They're going off trafficking victims and Linda Lovelace's speeches when sex work like marriage is a whole spectrum from a heinous crime to chosen job. And we have the ability to hear from all of these women. What they really want from their industry, from activists, from society at large. The in person full contact sex workers I've known were doing it so they could be present during the day for their children or get a higher education without their study time consumed by a low wage job. Another was seeking validation and briefly being loved, her rl relationships kept imploding because it was never enough or she'd push them to see if they'd love her anyway. That wasn't exactly sane. But you can't force anyone into getting meds and therapy if they're not ready.
There were articles about how marriage hurts women who must leave their family and join the husbands and instead of talking about the part of the research that showed that women who got men to move in with them were able to negotiate better work and pay equality, it was just desist and kill all men.
Funnily enough it's my "not really feminist", "don't like the term" , mum who originally sent me the study with a quote from Moses in genesis explaining Gd's guidelines "Therefore a man must leave his father and his mother and cling to his wife". Funny how many abramic religious marriages ignore that you can't be momma's boy and a husband and definitely not move your wife in with your folks.
Anyway that's this month's observations, those who actually did have 2nd wave posts on top of hating on transness are very young and are often starting out with the non black non queer reading from 30 years ago after a superficial lib fem alignment with zero reading. Often in college or just out of college having been 'peaked' against what they perceive to be mainstream feminism after seeing crime and inequality statistics. If you're interested in reducing terfs, a good place to start is outreach and local online bookclub where you can get the word of intersectionality and sisterhood out before the gcs groom them.
There is an initial curiosity, there is still that spark but it is being answered with unnuanced conclusions with simple explanations and "solutions" that shut down futher investigation.
There were also a couple of detrans afabs who will probably choose to be gnc or non binary or retransition when they're more comfortable with how they can be men. This is a systematic problem with trans medicalism that wants to stick people into binary boxes and insist they perform masc men and femme women. That's not a patient based approach and it's part of the conservative restrictions on the way gender care is allowed to exist at the fringes of healthcare.

Does it actually happen for immigration to cause a rightward turn in policy, though? Being anti-immigration is such a common position for the right wing almost everywhere that I'd think you need exceptional circumstances to have a large immigrant population that is strongly right wing, like Cuban-Americans in Florida (and my impression is that that's less shifting towards the right wing and more preventing the Democrats from nominating anyone that's too left wing).
"All these Cubans prevent us from going as Left as we otherwise would" sure sounds like a rightward turn to me. Also, are you aware that there are "anti immigration" immigrants? Or rather, "anti open borders/letting in the people we emigrated to get away from" immigrants. Like "Hispanics afraid of MS-13" is a political category, and there's a lot of planks besides immigration to being Right wing.
This is an issue of definitions mostly I think, specifically letting a lot of different people get lumped together as "immigrants" and having a single concept of what "right wing" can mean.
Obviously, if a bunch of literally Nazi high brass mass immigrates to a particular area, it's going to tug the local politics "rightward".
Emigration was and is frequently motivated by holding political/religious views different from the country of origin and wanting to move somewhere more friendly to their beliefs. Historically, this meant that immigrant nations got significant inflows of Protestant weirdos and "liberals".
However, human migration is primarily motivated by economic reasons, so you also get an overall exodus of people from societies that don't provide the maximum return to skilled workers, and unskilled workers coming from the bottom rungs of countries because they like eating and can do that more in a country with a higher quality of life.
Economic migrants are interested in "bettering" themselves, even "securing a future for their children." Politically, they're interested mostly in that, and not having the country they've relocated to turn into the country they left. If they're in an industry where the government might give them money, they'll be in favor of that. If they're business owners, they'll want lower taxes and less regulation on their business. If they're in an industry where the government might nationalize it and destroy their cash cow (doctors) they're going to be extremely hostile to that prospect. If leaning into their immigrant, racial, or gender identities serves them financially (eg. scholarships, government contracts, advertising, or certain industries being associated with certain countries, eg. coffee or aesthetic services) they'll damn well do it.
The global economic and political/religious situation is different now than it was 150 years ago. We're no longer facing a wave of German liberals, for example. Trauma around Left wing governments is pretty common among immigrants ("Latina Ayn Rand" is a down ticket Republican type in blue areas) these days, as is concern about crime, and sincerely held religious beliefs. Immigrants are More likely to go to religious services regularly than native born citizens, for example.
Please also take a minute to look at the demographic breakdowns for the last two American presidential elections.

So regarding last week's Immortality Discourse with @northshorewave on this website,
I wrote a longer post, but the three key things I'd like to point out are:
1 - "Immortality technology" can't make you actually immortal using contemporary physics; all it can do is alter your chance of dying in any given year. Even if you're immune to disease, you're not immune to kinetic energy weapons, supply chain disruptions, or landslides. You'll have to stick to VR or a teleoperated robotic body if you don't want to get killed in a boating accident.
On the other hand if you just want to add an extra 30-50 years the risk of accidents won't make such a big difference. I suspect this is where most of the gain is anyway - a 150-year lifespan with a "long 20s," "long 30s," and "long 40s."
I don't view "upload technology" as a way out of this and I'm suspicious of it in general; if it's feasible it would enable crimes at an astronomical scale.
2 - Whether life extension tech is only available to the wealthy depends on something like a thermo-dynamic-like limit to reading and editing information at the molecular scale - kind of like how even though helicopters exist, we all use ground cars because it inherently requires much more energy to stay aloft (without a slow-moving balloon).
Humans probably aren't at the limit because faster lifespans allow faster environmental adaptation, but someone could probably make an estimate now, before the technology is developed.
3 - We can't just assume away all problems with indefinite economic growth.
Conventional property rights break down under immortality due to the potential for a "property monster" or group of oligarchs to emerge, in accordance with private coercive power converging towards state coercive power as it approaches monopoly. (The other side of the coin to a lack of private property giving the state greater coercive power.)
NSW argued that people were avoiding answering tough questions, so I'll provide an alternative.
1) Allocate each citizen a core commodity resource block (probably land or energy), 2) Split each parent's block with their children, and 3) Evenly distribute a freed-up block between all citizens when someone dies.
In this design, those who have children faster than the rate of economic growth, and thus push the system closer towards subsistence, are themselves moved closer towards subsistence. This is unfair towards the children, but that's downstream of inherent material scarcity. (Most likely they could simply work for other people for a living, which is what they would've had to do anyway under subsistence.) Likewise, there is no deeding the block; if you wanted to give it to someone else, you should've had/adopted a kid while you were alive. Further, the positive incentive for anyone's death is spread across the broadest population, and thus the smallest amount, and descendants cannot benefit any more than anyone else by turning against family members. Relative gains are the largest for those with the least resources, and smallest for those with the most resources.

Here’s just a convenient list (please use a VPN if you need to) of states that codified abortion rights.
Many of them (especially those Northeast states) will happily impede on any criminal investigation by already prohibiting their state agencies from aiding in any abortion criminal case. Connecticut will even help seek damages in court.
I dare states to try to sue New York over hindering their “investigation”. The SDNY is not a federal court run on politics. SDNY attorneys are some of the best in the nation. They have ruled against everyone from the mob, terrorists, drug lords, and New York State and NYC.
Plus I absolutely see a showdown in the SDNY or other federal courts in these states telling anti-abortion states that they can’t convict someone of a “crime” that technically didn’t happen. It’s not a crime here and just because Texas views it as a crime, legally they don’t have the jurisdiction to prosecute something that happened in New York.
There’s a federal case on that called People v Brown defining judicial sovereignty. The anti abortion states will try to prosecute but unless part or all of a crime happened in the first state, they can’t legally prosecute for the actual abortion. We have been through this with same sex marriage, firearms, and pot.
By all means please protect your data because no one needs to be charged with conspiracy either. As far as any formally run by the mob Northeast state will tell you:
We know nothing and we aren’t saying a damn thing. Maybe that paperwork got eaten by a bear in the Adirondacks. We exported it to Canada. It fell in the tidal Hudson and we don’t feel like searching 150 miles for it. The file got corrupted. Epic deleted itself.

Today’s reading from the ancient books of Proverbs and Psalms
for April 4 of 2024 with Proverbs 4 and Psalm 4, accompanied by Psalm 17 for the 17th day of Astronomical Spring and Psalm 95 for day 95 of the year (with the consummate book of 150 Psalms in its 1st revolution this year)
[Proverbs 4]
Gather, children, to hear your father’s instruction.
Pay close attention so you will understand,
For I am passing down to you important precepts.
Do not abandon these valuable life lessons.
Back when I was young—the very image of my father,
and yet from my mother’s view, still her only boy—
My father, with his years of experience, became my teacher.
Father: Son, grab on to every word I say to you—hold them close—
stay true to my instructions as you live, and they will serve you well.
Whatever it takes to gain Wisdom, do it.
To gain understanding, do it! Never forget this!
Never stray from what I am telling you.
If you don’t forsake Lady Wisdom, she will protect you.
Love her, and she will faithfully take care of you.
Gaining sound judgment is key, so first things first: go after Lady Wisdom!
Now, whatever else you do, follow through to understanding.
Cherish her, and she will help you rise above the confusion of life—
your possibilities will open up before you—
embrace her, and she will raise you to a place of honor in return.
She will provide the finishing touch to your character—grace;
she will give you an elegant confidence.
Hear my words, my son, and take them in;
let them soak in so that you will live a long, full life.
I have pointed you in the way of wisdom;
I have steered you down the path to integrity.
So get going. And as you go, know this: with integrity you will overcome all obstacles;
even if you run, you will not stumble.
Tighten your grip around wise advice; don’t let it slip away.
Protect Wisdom, for without her, life isn’t worth living.
Do not start down the road of the wicked—
the first step is easy, but it leads to heartache—
do not go along the way of evildoers.
Stay away from it; don’t even go past it—
and if you find yourself anywhere near it,
turn your back and run as far as you can in the opposite direction.
For evildoers are so twisted they cannot sleep unless they have caused harm;
they’ll lie awake all night until they figure out a way to cause someone to stumble.
For they feed on evil the way most eat bread;
they drink violence the way most guzzle wine.
Yet the way of those who do right is like the early morning sun
that shines brighter and brighter until noon.
Evildoers travel a dark road because they love to hide their deeds in darkness;
they can’t see the perils ahead that cause them to stumble.
My son, pay attention to all the words I am telling you.
Lean in closer so you may hear all I say.
Keep them before you; meditate on them;
set them safely in your heart.
For those who discover them, they are life.
They bring wholeness and healing to their bodies.
Above all else, watch over your heart; diligently guard it
because from a sincere and pure heart come the good and noble things of life.
Do away with any talk that twists and distorts the truth;
have nothing to do with any verbal trickery.
Keep your head up, your eyes straight ahead,
and your focus fixed on what is in front of you.
Take care you don’t stray from the straight path, the way of truth,
and you will safely reach the end of your road.
Do not veer off course to the right or the left;
step away from evil, and leave it behind.
The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 4 (The Voice)
A set of notes from The Voice translation:
It’s perfectly natural to envy those who are successful. It’s even natural to want to imitate them. But what about those who’ve gotten ahead by doing the wrong thing? Sometimes it seems crime does pay, the good do die young, and the wicked do have more fun. But it only appears this way; it is not reality. In reality the success of wrongdoers is short-lived. God is against them, and their house is built on the sand. Even if it seems to be a grand house, it will soon come crashing down.
Fathers have a crucial role in instructing their sons. It’s easy and natural to teach children about some things: how to take care of a car, how to hit a ball, or how to mow the lawn. But what about deeper things, the kinds of things that make life worth living? These are much harder. They must not be left for someone else to do. Paul wrote, “And, fathers, do not drive your children mad, but nurture them in the discipline and teaching that come from the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). Instructing children in the ways of God is crucial work.
[Psalm 4]
For the worship leader. A song of David accompanied by strings.
Answer my prayers, O True God, the righteous, who makes me right.
I was hopelessly surrounded, and You rescued me.
Once again hear me; hide me in Your favor;
bring victory in defeat and hope in hopelessness.
How long will you sons of Adam steal my dignity, reduce my glory to shame?
Why pine for the fruitless and dream a delusion?
[pause]
Understand this: The Eternal One treats as special those like Him.
The Eternal will answer my prayers and save me.
Think long; think hard. When you are angry, don’t let it carry you into sin.
When night comes, in calm be silent.
[pause]
From this day forward, offer to God the right sacrifice from a heart made right by God.
Entrust yourself to the Eternal.
Crowds of disheartened people ask, “Who can show us what is good?”
Let Your brilliant face shine upon us, O Eternal One, that we may know the undeniable answer.
You have filled me with joy, and happiness has risen in my heart, great delight and unrivaled joy,
even more than when bread abounds and wine flows freely.
Tonight I will sleep securely on a bed of peace
because I trust You, You alone, O Eternal One, will keep me safe.
The Book of Psalms, Poem 4 (The Voice)
[Psalm 17]
A prayer of David.
Listen, O Eternal One, to my cry for justice.
These words of mine are true—turn Your ear toward me.
Announce that I am free of all the charges against me—only You can see into my heart to know that to be true.
Treat me with fairness; look at me with justice.
You have searched me—my heart and soul—awakened me from dreaming and tested me.
You’ve found nothing against me.
I have resolved not to sin in what I say.
The path violent men have followed,
I will not travel. Violence is not my way.
Your ways and Your voice now guide my journey.
I will press on—moving steadfastly forward along Your path.
I will not look back. I will not stumble.
I am crying aloud to You, O True God, for I long to know Your answer.
Hear me, O God. Hear my plea. Hear my prayer for help.
Put Your marvelous love on display for all to see.
Liberator of those who long for shelter beside You,
set them safely away from their enemies, ever welcomed by grace.
Keep close watch over me as the apple of Your eye;
shelter me in the shadow of Your wings.
Protect me from the wicked who are poised to attack,
from the enemies swarming around me and closing in quickly.
Like clay baking in the sun, their hearts have hardened;
arrogance spills from their mouths.
They’ve tracked me down like quarry.
They’re surrounding me
and are poised to throw me down into the dirt.
Like a lion—crouching in the brush—they are ready to tear me apart.
Like young lions in their hiding places, they are poised to strike.
Rise up and confront them, O Eternal One! Make them pay.
By Your sword, set me free from my wicked enemies!
May Your rescue find me here.
By Your hand, save me from my enemies, Eternal One.
Save me from men whose hopes are rooted in this world.
But as for those You cherish,
may they feast on all You have set aside for them;
may their children never be in need;
may they have enough so their children will inherit their wealth.
But as for me, my hope is to see Your face.
When I am vindicated, I will look upon the holy face of God,
and when I awake, the longing of my soul will be satisfied in the glow of Your presence.
The Book of Psalms, Poem 17 (The Voice)
[Psalm 95]
Come, let us worship in song, a joyful offering to the Eternal.
Shout! Shout with joy to the rock of our liberation.
Come face-to-face with God, and give thanks;
with loud and joyful voices, praise Him in songs.
For the Eternal is a great God,
and a great King, supreme over all gods.
Within His control are the very depths of the earth;
the mountaintops too—they all belong to Him.
The sea belongs to Him, for He created it—scooped and filled it—
with His hands He made the dry land—every valley and mountain.
Come, let us worship Him. Everyone bow down;
kneel before the Eternal who made us.
For He is our God
and we are His people, the flock of His pasture,
His sheep protected and nurtured by His hand.
Today, if He speaks, hear His voice.
“Don’t harden your hearts the way they did in the bitter uprising at Meribah
or like that day they complained in the wilderness of Massah.
Your ancestors tested Me,
wanted Me to prove Myself though they had seen that nothing was too great for Me.
For 40 years I despised that grumbling generation
and said, ‘Their hearts are unfaithful;
they no longer walk in My ways; though I call, they do not listen to My voice.’
That is why in My anger I swore,
‘They will never enter into My rest.’”

Populist-nationalist former prime minister Robert Fico sealed a remarkable political return as he won Slovakia’s snap election on Saturday. The government he seeks to now build is widely seen as likely to further fracture EU unity on support for Ukraine and threaten the small Central European state’s fragile democracy.
Fico’s nominally left-leaning Smer party took 22.9 per cent of the vote, which was triggered by the collapse of a pro-Western coalition, whose three incompetent years in office laid the path for the strongman’s remarkable revival after he was deposed in 2020 amid public anger over the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak and subsequent revelations of state capture by oligarchs and organised crime.
Russian disinformation and Fico’s increasingly extremist rhetoric also helped fuel the victory. On the campaign trail, Fico promised to end Slovakia’s support for Ukraine – a stance that tallies with the views of around half the country – and block further EU sanctions against Russia.
He has also pledged “revenge” against his political rivals and the reformed criminal justice system that have been busy over the last three years dismantling the corrupt networks that grew up during Smer’s previous rule in 2012-20.
Those promises have stoked fear that a Smer government could push Slovakia into isolation from its partners in the EU and NATO and destroy democracy. That helped boost support for Progressive Slovakia (PS). But despite hopeful early exit polls, the young centrist and pro-Western party ran out of steam, finishing the election second on around 18 per cent.
A further six parties crossed the 5 per cent threshold to enter the 150-seat parliament – the social-democratic Hlas came third with around 15 per cent, the populist but centrist and previous election winner Olano won 9 per cent. The Christian-democrat KDH and libertarian SaS both snuck over the line, as did the radical right Slovak National Party (SNS).
Fico is now expected to launch coalition talks with Hlas, which split from Smer in 2020, and the SNS. There was some relief for the liberal cohort as the neo-Nazi Republika, another potential coalition partner for Smer, fell just short of the threshold.
At home and abroad
The result is viewed as having significant consequences for the Visegrad Group (V4) region and wider Europe.
Fico’s return will boost populist forces in Central Europe and offer Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban support in his efforts to build an illiberal force that can redirect the EU. In particular, Fico is expected to aid his neighbour by further complicating the bloc’s policy on Ukraine.
Fico has pledged not only to halt weapons supplies to Kyiv, but also to oppose its bid to join the EU. Slovakia could also now complicate further EU sanctions against Russia.
In the V4 region, Fico’s election will see Slovakia swap sides once more to jump onto the populist side of the fence. That threatens to isolate Czechia’s centre-right government, which is already under attack at home by populist forces.
It’s little wonder then that Orban was excited at the prospect of Fico’s return. “Guess who’s back!” the Hungarian premier wrote on Twitter. “Congratulations to Robert Fico on his undisputable victory… Always good to work together with a patriot.”
That suggests diplomats in Berlin and Washington will need to act quickly, suggests Milan Nic, at the German Council on Foreign Relations. “The task for Germany and the US now will be to engage constructively with Fico and manage the cracks in EU support for Ukraine,” he told BIRN.
Meanwhile, many Slovaks are wary of what lies in store at home. Fico has also promised to reclaim the country’s sovereignty, which he claims has been sold to US interests, accusing the outgoing government and liberal President Zuzana Caputova of imposing “liberal fascism” on Slovakia.
As evidence he cites a push by the reformed police and justice system to clean up the corrupt networks that were established during his previous rule. Fico was himself accused of running an organised crime gang from the prime minister’s office before the charges were controversially dropped last year.
However, analysts express hope that Slovakia’s desperate need for EU funds and good relations with regional economic powerhouse Germany could temper the extremism Fico used to win the vote, turning him back towards a more pragmatic – albeit it awkward – stance towards Western partners and making him cautious about provoking scrutiny from Brussels over the rule of law.
Some also hope that Hlas, which formed when Smer split in 2020, could also help to moderate any pro-Russian policies. Hlas leader Petr Pellegrini, erstwhile Fico protégé and prime minister, has sought to distance himself from his former mentor’s extremism, and is a keen proponent of Bratislava’s pro-Western orientation.
“Pellegrini has stressed he doesn’t want to see a change in Slovakia’s geopolitical orientation,” points out Tim Haughton, professor of European politics at the University of Birmingham.
However, Grigorij Meseznikov of Bratislava’s Institute of Public Affairs cautions that within a Smer-SNS-Hlas coalition, the former pair is likely to dominate policy.

Unknown Facts About Oakland, California
Oakland is a great place to live, but it has a few unknown facts, which we have addressed below. But taking up apartments for rent in uptown oakland will give you the chance to explore oakland in a more convenient way.
1. A lunch at the graveyard is very appropriate.
One of the best views of the San Francisco Bay in the city may be seen at Mountain View Cemetery, which spans 226 acres on the hills above Oakland. Aside from the hundreds of ancient tombs and eerie mausoleums, it's not unlike your average neighbourhood park. Oaklanders can frequently be seen running, strolling their pets, or simply relaxing. Remember to leave by nightfall. Being imprisoned overnight within a 150-year-old cemetery's walls is the last thing you want to happen.
2. Oakland Coliseum is the site of The Wave's invention.
A staple in the Bay Area who calls herself the "Sexiest Cheerleader in the World" In 1981, while directing the sold-out crowd at an Oakland A's home game against the New York Yankees, Krazy George Henderson started the first full-stadium Wave. Following its television premiere that evening, the Wave quickly became a national phenomenon. It even made its way abroad to events like soccer matches in Mexico and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, when members of the royal family were spotted brazenly waving in the audience during a men's tennis match.
3. It is the birthplace of the Mai Tai.
Yes, Oakland was the birthplace of that gigantic beverage you're sipping from a tiki head at a tacky bar. But back in 1944, the recipe called for merely rum, lime juice, orgeat syrup, Cointreau, and a beautiful sprig of mint. The rest of the world is to blame for its corruption.
4. Many films have been shot in Oakland.
"The Matrix Reloaded," "A Time to Kill," "Howard the Duck," "Basic Instinct," "Moneyball," "Greed," "So I Married an Axe Murderer," "True Crime," and "Fruitvale Station" are among the films shot in Oakland.
5. Oakland is the birthplace of the popsicle.
In Oakland in 1905, 11-year-old Frank Epperson left his drink out in the cold and awoke to discover a treat frozen on the stirring stick.
6. The weather is nicer here.
The Bay Area isn't all doom and gloom. When compared to nearby San Francisco, Oakland is typically about 10 degrees warmer, so you won't need to worry about wearing a scarf everywhere and there are few chances that the foggy weather will ruin your picnic. You're ready to go with a simple hop over the bay.
7. This was the landing site for the first solo female flight from Hawaii to the mainland.
On January 12, 1935, Amelia Earhart made her first solo flight from Hawaii to the mainland when she touched down in Oakland, California, 18 hours and 16 minutes after taking off from Honolulu.
8. You don't have to leave town to see redwoods.
Oakland, on the other hand, contains two redwood parks: Oakland Redwood Regional Park and Joaquin Miller Park. There are hundreds of acres of redwood forest to explore, as well as miles and miles of paths. With origins in the 1880s, the redwoods you'll find are some of the Bay Area's oldest. These were a few unknown facts about Oakland, but if you’re searching for apartments or maybe houses for rent in Potrero Hill or anywhere in Oakland, you should definitely give Raj Properties a chance. SHERRI PAPINI REDDIT MARKMYWORDS FREE
I'm really happy that no one lost their life here but I highly doubt the story. California mother Sherri Papini was 'branded' with message during mystery abduction The 34-year-old was 'tortured mentally and physically' by two armed women after going missing. By alpha aiden book, dark cottagecore outfits and townhomes for rent in broward. There is nothing personal in people questioning what happened. Sherri Papini, who is due in court on Tuesday, vanished in November 2016, launching a massive search, only for the Northern California mother of two to turn up three weeks later, telling. They are psychopathic and don't tend to release victims on Thanksgiving Day. No one is infallible though but this case doesn't have a clear motive and it just doesn't make sense. What's the motive and who gains? There are plenty of cases where people self-inflict very serious injuries that most people would find hard to believe. Forums like this are a venue where people will state their views. Of course people aren't privy to the information that police have but if anyone has an interest in true crime, like many here, it is just a highly unusual scenario. The reason why people question what happened is because it doesn't make sense. However, it wasn’t good enough to prevent her from getting arrested once again. Sherri Papini also claimed it was an elaborate way for her boss to pay her worker’s compensation. One social media user on a Reddit MarkMyWords account event posted saying Mark my words: Sherri Papini is lying about her abduction just like she did in. Just a thought I had.Missing Mom Found Alive on Thanksgiving Morning - Crime and Consequences Blog When that happened, Sherri claimed that her former boss was showing her appreciation by letting her kidnap him.

What she appeared to be chained to may have been something in the back of the truck that she was attached to and was able to break free from. I wonder if she was being transported in the wee hours, and managed to get out the truck and jump to safety. When will law enforcement tell us the truth Any updates 10 comments. What we are now hearing from MSM about SP jumping out the back of a truck I read on FB shortly after she was found. I still think it is all genuine but am open to listen to what others see that maybe I see differently. In the end I was right in what I was feeling. What I will say, is that I know who his source is and that source is 150 credible. After you create your account, you'll be able to customize options and access all our 15,000 new posts/day with fewer ads. Even more so since Sheila Koester, the sister of Sherri Papini, left a comment under his article claiming that everything in his article was false and requesting him to take it down. Then a lot of wonderful posters who I hold on very high regard saw things I didn't see, or maybe I didn't want to see idk. Please register to participate in our discussions with 2 million other members - it's free and quick Some forums can only be seen by registered members. I think I was too scared to say it out loud. 'AH/Kibby' but from very early on I felt SP was coming home alive, I can't explain it. This video answers the question: Can I analyze the Sherry Papini case Support Dr. I have said many times lol bit like a broken record. I may even have felt a little superstitious. I think I only did a couple of godots 'surveys' where one time I listed my top 3, and the other order of possibilities. Mine didn't change but I will admit it definitely teetered on the edge a few times, swayed a little back and forth.
