we're not bothered by the way wizards talk about muggles in harry potter because while we're reading we forget they're talking about us. because we're in harry's head and living the story through him we think we're special, that if we were living in his world we wouldn't be muggles and it changes our perspective immensely
i wonder if there's anyone who's been uncomfortable from the get-go about it, who read the first book, with hagrid and the weasleys' dismissive comments (not the obvious villains, the good guys. it's important for this discussion) and got this "they're talking about me" feeling. how different would your experience of the books be if you kept reading with the knowledge that the main characters at most see you as background noise or interesting aliens, a nice pet, an abstract concept? so weird to think about
Quick excerpt of Winter's Wrath in a belated WIP Wednesday because I like the vibe. Is Atla in trouble? Is she not? Who knows. (I do... for once... I think, I haven't written the followup conversation yet)
If you see this, take this as your sign to also do belated WIP wednsday!
Ravenna was not like I had expected her to be upon my return. She wasn’t angry. She was eerily calm. And Ravenna wasn’t one for calm anger, not like Freya. Ravenna’s anger was wild and hot, it burned you when you weren’t careful.
But she was calm and composed and it put me on edge far more than an actual shouting match would have. She led us to her quarters, into her luxurious bathroom and told me to strip.
Ravenna got all the mud out of my hair that had practically changed colour and even Grimr got a bath. And during all of it she didn’t say a word.
the urge to delete some old ass posts bc the way i was writing or/ and editing was so bad that i’m so embarrassed but at the same time it’s good to have them to see how much i evolved
but i still want to erase any trace of their existence
I would write a Clone wars western AU solely for a scene that mirrors the ending of the Lone Ranger remake, specifically the scene of John Reid and the Colonel shooting at each other from the separate train cars, but make it Rex and a bounty hunter.
As someone who have born in a country that used to be a fucking colony just 200 years ago, I find the monarchy disgusting. I find insane that figures that should only exists in books actually exist in real life, I find it violent and abhorrent, by the simply fact it exists, even before we talk about the impact that it has on us (the people).
It's bizarre see journalists and reporters from my own country similing and talking about the party the coronation is gonna be, like??????? Brah??? You're brazilian wtf you're doing.
look idk if this is going to be the last season and idk when the trailer is going to come out BUT if I were in charge of promotion for the last season of succession I would do a teaser trailer like this one for breaking bad:
i don’t know how to express the way i feel when i think of that clip from in the studio 2002 of them crowding everyone into the small recording room shouting “SOME DAY!”, getting all giddy at how it sounds, and then i remember how they did a chorus of voices again for mama, this time bringing in their parents to immortalize them on the track, cheering “we’re damned after all, through fortune and flame we fall-”. it’s so fucking visceral.
I can't find a specific clip from Dark isolated on YouTube anywhere and I'm distraught bc it's one of my fave scenes in the whole show and just deeply impactful to me and I wanna show people 😭
i think this is my fav lumity moment in the finale bc i love how you can tell they've been together a while by this point just from the way amity kisses her cheek without any hesitation and luz instinctively puts her arms around her even tho her attention's on the others
