Halloween is becoming almost as bad as Christmas.

yes, this is about the pumpkin kitty. :( I've always wanted one, and I know halloween is a very popular time for marketing. But honestly, all the hype around Michael's, Hobby Lobby and the like are sucking the fun right out of my favorite time of year. Collecting plushies gives me serotonin, especially after as I see it, rebuilding my collection after a horrible fire my family experienced in 2020. Knowing BAB makes popular releases they know will make bank but not enough so that everyone can get one online, especially since some of us don't have the luxury of living close enough to a real store.. It's infuriating, it's greedy corporate taking advantage of people who can only spoil themselves once a month! This really makes me want to stop collecting build a bears all together if all I do is get my hopes up over and over again.

And yes, I did contact a representative to at least get another gift card or a promise of maxing out my certs.. but a 10 dollar coupon isn't gonna make me happy at all with this situation. I'm better off just buying the original pumpkin kitty at this point.

like, sure we are told even by wwx himself that hgj and the yllz had a feud, but the only "feud" we've seen early on is their silly teenage rivalry, and before we get to the point where their relationship is strained, we already receive bits of pieces of information that point out to lwj being worried about him, lwj trying to reach out and being denied, and finally wei wuxian's lament over what he was already beginning to understand as a misunderstanding

and we haven't even seen that fight yet

(these are just some examples i could think from the top of my head, but there are def more. what i basically mean to say is that i think it matters that we see these right before the xuanwu cave, lotus pier destruction and wwx's return flashbacks)

I genuinely enjoy yellowjackets, so much it's unreal. It's the first TV series in ages that I feel like i just can't wait for the next episode. spent the whole day at an archery competition yesterday!!! twas really fun and i got slightly better :3 i also spent the whole day with long sleeves till it was my turn. it did not prevent the sunburns. i have a stripe pattern on my left arm now (caused by my arm protection)

#yes i forgot sunscreen. i also forgot to take a spoon to eat my pasta salad. #to be fair i didn’t forget anything that i put on my list. but i did make the list at past 11pm while completely tired #and with the knowledge i’d have to wake up at 5am #also there was barely any sun or warmth for the entire morning. i was nearly cold actually #when twas my turn in the afternoon the sun suddenly started to burn for an hour and i could feel it. and then it rained jdhdhjs #nothing like last week’s competition where we were drenched and kept waiting for 5min between each flight for slightly better conditions #(no lightning in the 5min span) #yesterday there was a lot of wind too which is more worrying than the rain #but i dealt really well with it and i’m proud of that!! i release my arrows really quickly usually but!!! #i took my time to find the best window between the blasts of wind. we have two minutes for a flight of three arrows and it feels so so long #(because really. it *is* very very long. the longest 2min of my life are when i wait for my turn) #but i really help to know that i am able to fly my arrows fast enough. so i know i can calmly wait for 20 seconds and still finish on time #anyway i had fun!!!!!!! i socialised the whole day!!!!!!!! with good people!!!!!!!!!! #and i got some advice which is always valuable

I'm gonna have to disagree. Like okay... I can't lie, I'm actually annoyed right now with twdg fans and the comic, so I'm sorry that I'm about to go on a little rant.

Y'all are reeeeally out here making me defend the comic by tossing around accusations that Tillie copied/stole/ripped off other things when I don't believe that's the case. You realize you're making that judgment of "Book Two sounds like ANF" based on a four sentence description, right? and trying to spin it as "Tillie's just copying from the games" based on four sentences? Book Two isn't out yet, we know so little about it!

Hell, Book One barely has anything in common with S2! What it does have is surface level! The most they have in common is taking place at a ski lodge, there's snow, there's walkers and murder, but the plots are not the same. Believe me, I read Book One NINE TIMES, I know what the plot is! It wasn't copied from S2.

Book One is about Clementine and friends building houses before the evil twin decides to be evil for next to no reason and then the remaining three escape in a plane. S2 is about Clementine dealing with incompetent adults, then getting kidnapped and brought to another group, it becomes a prison escape game for an episode, then Rebecca has a baby and the story becomes about Kenny losing his shit after everything that's happened. Just because there's a ski lodge [which btw is in only ONE episode of S2 whereas Book One it's the main location] and snow in both of them doesn't mean they're the same.

By that logic, I guess S2 copied from the 2010 horror movie Frozen, which takes place at a ski lodge and has a lot of snow and is about survival.... never mind that the movie is about people stuck on a chairlift after the resort shuts down for the night and isn't a zombie movie.

The only similarities in these descriptions is "how far will you go to protect loved ones" and "can these people be trusted" which I don't know if y'all are aware of this, but those are very common phrases within descriptions of pieces of media. You could apply both of those two the rest of the games, too:

How far is Lee willing go to protect Clementine/Can the group Lee meets be trusted? How far is Clementine willing to go to protect her friends/Can the cabin group be trusted? How far is Clementine willing to go to protect AJ/Can the Ericson crew be trusted?

Hell, you can apply it to Book One: How far is Clementine willing to go to protect her new friends/Can the twins be trusted?

It's faux deep media analysis all for the sake of discrediting Tillie over a comic you don't like. I hate the comic but I will defend Tillie, okay. Hate the comic all you want, but don't make shit up to convince everyone, "hey not only is it a bad comic but it's also STOLEN."

And when Book Two comes out, if it does share striking similarities to ANF that are undeniable, then we'll talk. anyway making another long post because i’ve realised it’s coming up to 2023 and even though im a month early, im still plagued by the idea that a lot of my mutuals and i have been sitting just staring at each other across the dash like the li who’s route your on and the otome protag when you’re in the early stages without saying so much of a word to each other.

1.) ive been ... lowkey worried that the muse list i have is extremely long and therefore has made it difficult for people to reach out or simply pick the muses they want to write for the common fear that grips people when it comes down to it: picking a muse that they worry the multi didnt want to write with them. truthfully, know that whatever muse you’d pick, you’d never upset me. its the main reason why i have never, ever really picked any ‘primary’ / ‘main’ muses for this blog. however, in hopes that it does encourage people to pick the muses they want, or more importantly, don’t want to interact with at this moment in time. i’ve come up with a list of two muses who i will now try my best to default to if my mutuals pick to a fandom level, in hopes that if there is another(!) muse a mutual are far more interested in, they may feel more confident to pick so! these are as follows:

i really do wonder if we'll see the end of the mcu soon though cause the quality of the movies has undeniably been getting worse, and ive noticed a lot of casual fans (which is what most people i know are, including myself, at least a few years ago when i would have actually considered myself a fan at all) are completely uninvested in phase 4 and havent really liked any of the movies lately. plus with how fast theyre pushing them out, overexposure could lead to a huge backlash soon

Alternatives to Squishmallow

So as many of you have probably already heard, Jazwares, the company that produces Squishmallows, is donating to charities that support Israeli soldiers and the IDF. They’re also supporting Canary Mission, which has been doxxing people who speak out against Israel. BDS hasn’t called for a boycott against them, but I can’t in good faith spend my money on their products, and I would strongly encourage everyone who enjoys plushies to really think long and hard about if you want to give your money to a company that’s helping support genocide!

But the holidays are coming up, and lots of us enjoy plushies and were fans of Squishmallow, and were planning to give Squishmallows to friends and family this year.

Fortunately, there are a number of great plushie companies out there, and I want to promote some of my favorites in the hopes that folks will get their plushie fix from a source that doesn’t side with Israel. So without further ado:

Fluffnest

Fluffnest got their start on Kickstarter a few years ago, and I adore the round shapes of their PuffPal plushies! My favorite is Pete the Possum, which is probably the best possum plush I’ve ever seen. I’ve also got a beautiful moth from their Kickstarter and I’ve been wanting their bats for ages. They also recently had a Kickstarter for an Animal Crossing-esque video game featuring their plushie characters and it looks fantastic.

Squishables

I can’t get over the plague doctor plushies. They’re so perfect and cute, and they’ve released other variations of them called Alter Egos, like a ghostly version, an alien, or a really sweet cottagecore one! They’ve got a ton of variety, but what I like the most are the fantasy plushies. There’s a lich! There are dragons and demons! Cryptids! Biblically accurate angels! A lot of really fun stuff!

Also they do a lot of great charity work! Right now they’re doing an auction for the Food Bank of New York City.

AfternoonFika is a very small business of only three people, but their plushies are extremely cute. They tend to sell out fast, so I recommend following them on social media to stay on top of any restocks! They recently released a line of dinosaurs that are precious, and of course I love their iconic cactus cat and cinnamon bun bunny.

Jellycat

Jellycat has been around since 1999, so they’re the oldest of these companies. They’ve got great designs, a ton of variety, and a lot of their plushies are made to be cuddled on and not just displayed. All three of my tiny nephews sleep with a different stuffed dog from Jellycat. My mom has a sun and several succulents that she uses as decorations. There’s a little something for everyone who enjoys plushies!

If you have any other favorite companies I haven’t mentioned, feel free to add on! I’ve enjoyed Squishmallows for a while now and I’m sad to see their leadership coming out on the side that’s committing war crimes on a daily basis, but this is a good time to discover new favorite plushie companies!
