Hi, Lost. I recently saw a discussion about Ackermans and how Levi never mentioned to Mikasa the possibility of them being distantly relative. And it suggests that Levi doesn't actually reveal that he's an Ackerman to the others, at least, not to a lot of people. I always assumed Levi and Mikasa at least discussed this off-scene but anyway, we all know Levi definitely talked to Erwin about it. Knowing Erwin's curiosity and personality, there is no way he wasn't obsessed with the idea of a clan of, basically, titan slayers. He loves a good mystery and they would be too important for Survey Corps and Paradis in general. It's weird that this Ackerman thing was never explored other than "yeah Levi and Mikasa are OP don't question it" because I don't know about you but I would be so interested in freaking super soldiers living amongst us and I believe so was Erwin. We were robbed of that conversation, it'd give us so much Eruri material I believe :(
Hi Anon, sorry it’s taken me so long to answer your ask. You're definitely not the only one to be frustrated with the lack of information and resolution about the Ackermans. People waited years for Levi and Mikasa to have “the Ackertalk”, but when it finally came in chapter 63 it left everyone pretty disappointed. It did happen though, and Levi does suggest to Mikasa that they may be related.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was a glimmer of hope that more would be revealed when the Ackermans were referred to as a “subproduct of Titan science” in chapter 93.  That really set the cat amongst the pigeons, but again, we got no further explanation about what that actually meant, either in the manga or in any of the supplementary materials. The only subsequent information we got about the Ackermans were Eren’s lies to Mikasa in chapter 112, where he claimed that Ackermans were slaves to their host, and Zeke revealing in chapter 130 that there’s nothing magical about the so-called Ackerbond, it’s just love.
Tumblr media
A lot of the additional information we have about the Ackermans comes from interviews with Isayama in the supplementary guidebooks, and it’s confusing at best and contradictory at worst.  For example, in chapter 65 Grandpa Ackerman tells Kenny that the king’s power to alter memories does not work on the Ackermans, and that this is one of the reasons they were feared and persecuted by the crown. However, later in the manga Eren was clearly able to alter Mikasa's memories, so that doesn’t add up. It's almost like Isayama was just making it up as he went along!
Tumblr media
The lack of resolution around the Ackermans is just one of a number of threads that Isayama never tied up, which includes HIstoria’s arc and Mikasa’s relationship to the Azumabito clan.  It’s frustrating, because the Ackerman lore had so much potential, but none of it was ever developed, and at the end of the day they were a bit of a McGuffin. (Levi McGuffin doesn’t quite have the same ring to it though 😂)  Having said that, I can understand why Isayama shelved the Ackerman backstory, because it wasn’t really central to the plot. Also Levi, Mikasa and Kenny didn’t need any additional lore to make them really compelling and popular characters.
If you're interested, I've got a post collating all the canon information about the Ackermans from the manga and the guidebooks: Ackermans Master Post.
With regards to how much Erwin knew about the Ackermans, there’s nothing in the manga, but I agree that once he discovered the connection between Levi and Kenny he would definitely have made it his business to find out more.  I wrote a tiny ficlet once about Erwin learning Levi’s name, it’s called Everything and Nothing
The words have been rattling around inside Erwin’s skull for days. Clattering against each other, discordant, disconcerting.
When they finally pass his lips one is familiar on his tongue, familiar as his own breath, the other foreign, sharp and bitter in his mouth.
“Levi.”
Levi’s head turns towards him on the pillow.
“What?”
“Ackerman.”
“Don’t.”
He turns away again.
“I always wondered…”
“I didn’t know.”
Erwin runs one finger lightly over Levi’s shoulder.
“I know, but it makes sense somehow.”
“Don’t.”
Levi is silent for a moment.
“It doesn’t change who I am. It doesn’t change anything.”
Erwin looks down at the black hair feathering over the pillow beside him. The pulse flickering in his neck; blue blood below porcelain white skin.
Ackerman.
Erwin leans down and presses his lips to Levi’s throat, to the pulse.
“Levi,” he says again.
It changes everything. And nothing.

Hello Levihans!!! It's been a WHILE since I interacted with anything attack on Titan but I finally watched s 4 p 3 (1/2) (the titles are getting ridiculous i swear) and I have a couple thoughts on the whole thing but I'll stick to Levi and Hange for now. Hear me out. I don't actually hate how they handled it. Was I disappointed and did I say to myself " Is this it? " ? Yes. But when I sat down and thought about 132, it didn't really give us anything more. Yes i prefer the eyes in themanga but the anime did give us a beautiful additional shot of Levi
Tumblr media
Equivalent exchange 😂
This further brought me to another realisation. Mappa didn't rob us. Isayama did. He had no issue making Armin and Annie explicit despite them being less developed than LH. I feel gaslighted bruh. The anime did well with what they have. Wishing for them to add more romance is a bit much. Anyhow viva fic writers/ meta writers/ fan artists/ gif makers etc you guys rock.

Hello, disabled person here. It is definitely ableist of the anon to suggest Levi’s life is somehow less meaningless because he’s disabled.
However, I was an able bodied person who became disabled after a car wreck and I definitely wish every day I still could walk. So I would 100% say I wish it didn’t happen to Levi. Purely because it’s a sad thing to see, being disabled isn’t fun and the discourse online about it kind of grinds my gears as this world isn’t catered to disability so my life is harder. I wouldn’t wish that on Levi or anyone.
Hi there,
absolutely, of course, I don't think anyone wishes what happened to Levi did happen. It's heartbreaking. And of course, Levi's life is going to be immensely more difficult for it. I never meant to suggest otherwise. I just have a problem with people who suggest that, because Levi is now disabled, it's going to be impossible for him to live a good or fulfilling life, or that he's somehow always going to be stuck in a cycle of misery and despair.
It's just something that happened within the story. People forget what AoT is even about. It's about the horrors of war. The story is a tragedy. The things war takes away from us. The things it robs us of. The things it ruins. Levi's body became ruined as a result of war. He lost every close friend he ever had as a result of war. To me, it makes sense within the themes of the story that Levi would end up physically disabled. That doesn't mean I wish it had happened to him. Of course I don't. But I'm not going to criticize Isayama either for making the decision to have Levi become disabled. It doesn't lessen Levi as a person, and it emphasizes the tragedy of war, that this truly good man loses so much, even the full use of his body. It drives the themes of the story home all the more, it forces the reader to contend with the full scope of wars tragedy, and doesn't let us pretend it isn't so bad after all. That the most selfless and heroic character within the story ends up losing the most out of everyone exemplifies and drives home why war is something we should always strive to turn away from, because when war breaks out, it doesn't matter how good or bad a person is, it's going to end up affecting them with all the indifference of nature itself. It doesn't care if you're a good person, it doesn't care if it's unjust for you to suffer. Levi didn't deserve to end up in a wheelchair. He didn't deserve any of the bad things that happened to him. He was a hero and he gave everything for others, and still, it didn't matter, because war is indiscriminate in who's lives it destroys. Being disabled isn't going to make Levi's life easier or better. But I contend that, in spite of the added difficulty it will present him with, he can still find happiness. That's still a possibility for him. Anyone who says otherwise is suggesting that people who are disabled are incapable of living good or full lives, and that's just not true.

Two Years Ago Today
Attack on Titan came back, and Hajime Isayama stole someone very precious from us. With MAPPA’s help, he forever poisoned the anime, by robbing us of our beloved Sasha Braus.
Tumblr media
And all for WHAT PURPOSE AGAIN?
All for the sake of this little prick.
Tumblr media
One of the most disgusting and upsetting scenes in anime.......All for a character who serves NO PURPOSE TO THE STORY. Very little would change without Gabi Braun, but the series paid a huge price for Sasha’s loss and after that, it became unwatchable. Sasha was the true heart of the series and had all the makings of a truly great character. And absolutely nothing about Gabi’s overblown and highly invasive “redemption” arc accomplishing anything.
Not one valid reason was offered for why we should care about Gabi. Not ONE. And yet she was forced upon us in the worst way possible. All at the expense of a character so many of us cherished, and one who was abused and exploited in a way nobody can ever justify. Sasha brought something to this series that must NEVER be taken advantage of in the perverse manner that it was.
To this day, no single work has caused me more anger and frustration than this motherfucking season, all because of this one goddamned episode and of course, because of the MANGA that came before it.
For all those who still remember how much they love Sasha, please remember why. We all deserve to have that back, and that effort to get it back, so long as I’m here, will never stop.
THERE IS NO ATTACK ON TITAN WITHOUT SASHA.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as for you goddamned Gabi Braun fans who may be listening out there.....Shame on every one of you for your silence on Isayama’s actions. And for every bad excuse you’ve made for this inherently poisonous and unnecessary character.
And with that I leave you this:
Tumblr media
From the bottom of my heart...
Tumblr media
Because fuck your feelings, I only wish you felt the same sadness and anguish we did no thanks to this bitch.
THERE IS NO ATTACK ON TITAN WITH GABI BRAUN.

Damn this man is so wide and strong 😩 maybe I'll watch that Vinland Saga just for him lol.
Eren as dilf would be so hot, too bad Isayama is so mean to us.💔
Snake, Snake, Snake, this man has been on my brain since I started season 2 of Vinland Saga 😩 Vinland is definitely worth the watch though especially if you're into Viking history. The scruffy long haired daddies are just a bonus. 😋
I look at Snake and all I'm seeing is an older DILFY Eren who's in his 30s ( the curse is broken and he lived okay? I'm a delulu girl in a delulu world ) he and Mikasa are married, and they have three children (she's currently pregnant with her forth) His breeding kink is in full force. 💯
They live out on a secluded farm or (a cabin) where she grows vegetables like her mother used to do, and I can see Eren helping people out as a doctor (with the knowledge he's retained from his father's past memories)
They have a little family of their own, something they're always wanted together.
Isayama robbed us so badddd, I'll never forgive him for it 😭

I love the way you said to that anon about Armin and Mikasa coming out to each other i love their friendship so much and i hate that we haven’t got to see their besties moments it would be so much better than that eremika scenes i swear isayama robbed us
YES! A million times yes!
Armin and Mikasa are friendship goals. I love them so much it hurts. Although I'm very sad we didn't get more besties moments with them I still think Isayama did a good job portraying their friendship.
Isayama could have gone a very clichê route and make Armin and Eren both fall in love with Mikasa and sort of become rival/friends. Honestly I was scared we would see a weird love triangle between Armin, Mikasa and Eren (even Jean, Connie and Sasha). But Isayama was really good at making them genuinely friends (of course, we have to exclude Eren and Mikasa from this, but they are a different story).
Anyway, I know Isayama couldn't develop so many things at the same time so I am quite satisfied with what we got (but I'd love to see more about AruMika friendship shenanigans, they are so wholesome!)
In my head Armin and Mika are quite similar. They are both very rational, they don't display emotions unless it's necessary, both are really good at non-verbal conversation and have quick problem-solving abilities. To be honest they are a very closed duo inside a trio, you know what I mean? Eren and Armin are good friends but I like to imagine that when Eren is being a little annoying Armin just wants some peace and quiet with Mikasa.
Besides, Armin and Mikasa are the personification of "two pretty best friends".

Rivetra Headcanon! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ The gang visits the ocean and this is Petra's first time seeing the ocean and she's absolutely amazed by it. Everyone is wary and shocked at first, And Petra looks so breathtaking that Levi can't help but to stare at her.
YESSS I’ve been crying over thinking about an AU where Levi Squad or at least Petra survived the 57th and they make it to the beach with everyone else. It would be so incredible and Petra would be so overwhelmed and awestruck and bittersweet and Levi would just watch her all soft and let his guard down for once. Maybe even smile a little when she looks at him with happy tears in her eyes and a watery smile of her own. It’s what we/they deserved :(

Sometimes I'm unable to sleep at night when the real unanswered questions of SNK are keeping me awake... What is the real story behind Levi's Captain ranking? Whose black jacket is THE black jacket that Levi occasionally wears? Why was Levi seen in the same classroom as smol Erwin? Why Erwin in new survey corp uniform was robbed from us?
Fear not Anon, I have all the answers to ensure you have a peaceful night's sleep 😴
1. What is the real story behind Levi's Captain ranking?
You can find one answer here: Levi's rank. Though of course the real reason is that Captain is not Levi's rank, it's a term of endearment that Erwin calls him in bed.
2. Whose black jacket is THE black jacket that Levi occasionally wears?
Erwin's. I mean it's not called The Boyfriend Jacket TM for nothing. Receipts are here (X / X) and no, I will not be taking questions at this time.
Tumblr media
3. Why was Levi seen in the same classroom as smol Erwin?
Only Isayama knows the truth and he's not telling. The bastard. Luckily you can read some fan theories instead.
Tumblr media
4. Why Erwin in new survey corp uniform was robbed from us?
Such would have been the overwhelming power and majesty of Erwin Smith in the new leather uniform and military issue bondage gear that he would have made the Titans look feeble in comparison. The power of the Titans would thus have been vanquished by Erwin's sheer sexiness magnificence, bringing the story to a swift and satisfying climax. And we can't have that.
I hope that answers your questions Anon, and you're able to sleep as soundly as Erwin.

So it was a love story after all
One of the things that has been said over the years about Attack on Titan is that it had no romance. Isayama, was the general consensus, didn’t write a love story. AOT is not about ships. It’s about the nature of humanity, about hatred, about racism and the will to survive. It’s got its roots in Norse mythology, in real life events from the recent past and a more ancient past. But love and romance, so everyone thought, never had a place in this story.
How wrong we all were.
As it turns out, Eren’s motivation for everything he did was always his eternal and undying love for Mikasa.
Here’s where I stumble.
I never saw any convincing signs of Eremika in this story. I didn’t like their dynamics in the first place – Eren seemed annoyed with her a lot of the time, or at best consider her his adopted sister – and what really rubbed me the wrong way during the entirety of the story was Mikasa’s unhealthy obsession with Eren. Yes, he saved her, and yes, she’s an Ackerman, who are known for their intense bonding to their host (although this was a false assumption as well, according to Zeke), but her obsession was unhealthy and annoying to the point that I was unable to see her character development or her actions.
Her looks didn’t make her special to me (contrary to a lot of male fans I encountered on social media and irl), to me she was just one of the characters, albeit a rather uninteresting one, so I wasn’t paying as much attention to her as they did – we all pay most attention to our favourites (which in my case are Eren and Levi and to a lesser extent Hanji and Connie), and as a result I may have been blind for any character development she had.
Maybe it’s because I’m a woman and I feel like she’s one of those poorly written -“the man is my only goal in life” -women. Women who in a story solely seem to exist as an appendage to the main character and have no life or will of their own. Eren and Mikasa were, in my opinion, never equals in this story.
I know many people do see Mikasa’s character development, and do see meaningful interactions between Eren and her, but I’m sorry, I can’t see them unless I use a microscope, and I think this is the main flaw in Isayama’s writing: with all the twists and foreshadowing (which I so thoroughly enjoyed), some hints he left are way too small, while some of his red herrings are too in your face to ignore.
It also feels like Isayama changed the ending too often and forgot about a lot of foreshadowings along the way.
This is why it feels that we’re left with so many plot holes – if you read closely, there aren’t many, but the red herrings were sprinkled so abundantly throughout the story that we may have expected way too much. The origins of the Ackermans, the importance of Historia’s’ baby and “who is the father”, Zeke’s presumed 4D chess and Eren’s 5D chess, the Underground cities as protection against the rumbling, what caused the titan forest trees to grow so large, what happened 854 years ago in the year 0, Reiner heavily being foreshadowed to become the new Helos, what is the Hallucigenia thing, where did it come from and how does it create titans, where did Ymir’s first titan come from if there was no one in PATHS yet to build it – we don’t need all these answers, but somehow Isayama made us believe there was more to this than there actually was, and that’s why many of us feel robbed of the ending we wanted or expected.
The Historia storyline bothers me the most. The dynamics between her and Eren were much more interesting and realistic than those between Mikasa and Eren. To begin with, they were equals. Whatever happened, they always had each other’s backs. So it made sense to me that Eren had at least something to do with her choice to have a baby, especially because he was so vocal against it. Instead, she too married a guy who hadn’t been particularly nice to her in the past and nothing of it had anything to do with Eren or his plans, or their shared memories of previous founders.
Parallels between OG Ymir and Historia seemed abundant, but apparently, in the end, we were supposed to see an essential parallel between Ymir and Mikasa. Her Stockholm-syndrome-love for the first King Fritz felt like a sort of deus ex machina (and yes, if you reread chapter 122 there were hints, but so scarce, so small, that they didn’t seem to hold much significance).
I find the fact that OG Ymir needed to see someone break loose from the clutches of obsessive love in front of her own eyes to finally break loose from her own love for Fritz a bit far-fetched, especially since I consider that this is what the entire story hinges on.
(Now we do understand why Isayama had Levi so severely wounded in chapter 114 (the explosion). Had he been fit, then he had most likely been the Ackerman who killed Eren (because this has been foreshadowed too, multiple times) – and that wasn’t supposed to happen. It had to be Mikasa, or else OG Ymir wouldn’t understand how to break loose from her bond.
Another thing that bothered me was Eren’s sudden confession of his love for Mikasa to Armin. Like I said, I found the Eremika dynamics particularly uninteresting, so this confession felt very unnatural and far-fetched to me – but, again, this is what the entire story is built upon.
He does what he does for them, specifically for her.
It’s actually kind of sad that some fan theories were better/more interesting than the canon ending, but Isayama is the creator of this story and we’ll have to accept his ending – I do know that the more I’ve been rereading the final chapter, the less it bothers me how the story wrapped up. I might even come to like it, and when I reread the full story (which I will certainly do, I LOVE this story) I’ll pay more attention to the small hints Isayama sprinkled between the lines for us about the love Eren felt for Mikasa, to see if his words in 139 will finally make sense to me.
For now, Eren’s motives don’t feel real or grounded. If he’d cried about the millions (billions?) of deaths he’d caused instead of about Mikasa, it would have made more sense in the grand scheme of things. He’d cry for the lives he’s taken, and for the realisation that it has all been in vain, because the ones he tried to protect so that they can live long and happy lives, will now be consumed with grief and survivor’s guilt.
Still, could any of this have gone differently?
No.
Eren was rightfully desperate when he, from behind the bars of his cell, yelled at Hanji if there was another way. Because there wasn’t.
The irony was that Eren always fought for freedom, but all his life he had been a slave to his own destiny. He was unable to change the future, and could only try to influence it. Or else, as Kruger said, this cycle would repeat itself, again and again.
All in all I feel there was more to this story than what we got, it could have gone deeper, more foreshadowing could have paid off instead of being a red herring.
A bittersweet ending
Levi surviving and finally getting closure with the knowledge that this was what all of his old SC friends died for, brought me to tears. And that smoke, was that the disappearing of his Ackerstrength?
The frame where he travels the world with his carers/adopted children Gabi and Falco and his new best friend Onyankopon (friend? lover? just look at that glance they share) made me so happy that this is now the desktop background of my laptop.
(I hope they’ll travel to the AOT equivalent of the UK so he can finally enjoy some decent black tea)
To me, at least this part was sweet. The rest: bitter, even the fates of the Alliance members. This is a story with an open ending. We don’t know if they’ll succeed on their peace mission, we don’t know what the Yaegerists will accomplish, we don’t know what the rest of the world will do; all options are open again, but maybe that is the point. Eren never meant to end the hatred, there’s no fighting the nature of humans. Erwin knew this already: mankind won’t stop fighting among themselves until there’s only one person left.
Eren’s goal was to end the titan era, and at the cost of his own life and that of 80% of humanity, he succeeded.
Learning that Eren, who held freedom in such high regards, was a slave to his own destiny all along was painful and ironic, but in a way he lives on as a bird, finally free, finally Vogel aus dem Käfig.
Thank you, Isayama.

The mindset of Eren Yeager: The reason he rumbled the World
The topic I will be analyzing this time is Eren Yeager’s decisions and motivations in the final arc of the series. Many words have been said about our main protagonist, especially after his appearance in the final chapter, which made many question him and his actions. Given the dialogue between him and Armin it is not really hard to understand why. Isayama’s word choices have confused many fans. So, here I am. Trying to explain to the best of my ability what was going through Eren’s mind. Of course, I might be wrong. There have been many interpretations of the character after all, not to mention that Isayama will be releasing a character book the next month, which might explain things better. But, seeing as I will be in the army at the time, I figured I should write this now and compare my view to Isayama’s later on.
To begin with, we have to answer a very important question. What was Eren wish and what kind of life did he want to live? This question can easily be answered just by looking at Mikasa and Armin, Eren’s two most beloved people. These two represent what Eren wants out of life. Armin is responsible for Eren’s desire to be free. The outside world for Eren is freedom. Mikasa on the other hand represents Eren’s desire to be loved. She is his home to return to. You see, these two desires perfectly correspond with the visions Eren shared with his two friends in the paths. He used the paths to see with Armin all the places from Armin’s book that they imagined back when they were kids and he used the paths to live with Mikasa the life they never had the chance to live in the real world. Eren himself says he doesn’t want to die. He wants to live with Mikasa and everyone else. This is the kind of life he wants.
But he couldn’t. And it wasn’t because of some supernatural force that guided his own actions and prohibited him from making another decision. No. It was because of his personality and the circumstances he found himself in. After Eren saw the future his attitude changed. He was by far more silent and sad than usual. He saw himself committing mass-genocide. He also learnt that the world was not what he imagined it to be. Eren wanted the world to be just like Armin’s book described. Empty of humans, but full of beautiful places. However, between himself and his dream stood enemies. Countless people who had never seen them, all wishing them dead.  The outside world had betrayed his expectations. For him, all these people that stood between him and his dream were just like the walls in Paradis. An obstacle. This is why, despite knowing that the Rumbling went against the justice he was supposedly fighting for, he decided to complete it. Deep down, he hated this world and he wanted to burn it down. This is in part due to his idea of freedom. For Eren, freedom is living your life the way you want it to, without ever taking orders from anyone. Doing whatever you want. This is why he was surprised by Levi’s follower attitude towards Erwin. With all his strength, he expected Levi to be the freest person in the legion. A world that continued to chain him down and disappoint him was something Eren could not tolerate. And when he got the power, he just wanted to erase it. He was free to do so.  It is no coincidence that the panel of his father saying to him “you are free” appears at the same time that Eren reveals his desire to destroy the world. This burning desire of his to erase the world contradicts his view on people being special because they were born in it. If this world makes people special just because they were born in it, then why the fuck would you completely destroy it Eren? Well, that’s exactly the point. Eren’s though process is entirely irrational. That’s true for all humans to a degree. Our deepest and darkest desires are irrational. The part of Eren that wanted to bring the Apocalypse, just because the world wasn’t like he wanted it to be is exactly that. Eren had to choose between what was just and what made him feel free. He chose the latter.
Moving on to the more rational side of his motivations for doing the Rumbling. That is the safety of his friends and his island. Eren genuinely cared for all of his friends. Mikasa and Armin were special, but he also cared for Historia, Jean, Connie, Sasha etc. He even cared for fucking Floch. And, obviously he cared for the island that he was raised in. He couldn’t just let the world annihilate them. This is like, the core of his ideology. If you fight, you might survive. If you just roll over, then you get fucked. Eren is not the type to get fucked. However, this did not mean that Eren wouldn’t opt for a different solution if a better option presented itself. After all, he did appear in the speech given by the Organization that protected the rights of the Eldians. The first problem here is that when Eren saw the memories of the future he had just 8 years left to live. Zeke had 5. Eren was displeased with this lack of time. The second problem was that he was stuck with a hilariously incompetent leadership. The leadership of Paradis failed spectacularly in finding a good solution and wasted half of Eren’s remaining lifespan. At the rate the Survey Corps were progressing, Zeke would have died and without him they wouldn’t be able to use the Founding Titan at all.  Additionally, none of the solutions they tried to find were exactly great. The 50 Y.P. required the sacrifice of Historia and her line, without ensuring with 100% certainty the eternal existence of Eldia. Since Eren cared about Historia and the island, he couldn’t accept such a proposal. The rest of the Survey Corps felt the same way. Hizuru on the other hand didn’t help them at all and Hange’s plan to approach the Organization that wanted to protect the rights of the Eldians failed spectacularly. Eren was left out of options.
The biggest turn off for him though was the revelation of Zeke’s real plan. When Yelena learnt that the SC would visit Marley she approached Eren and told him all about Zeke’s euthanasia and how to contact him. From this point on, Eren really had no other option left to save Paradis. If the meeting with the Eldian Rights Organization were to fail then he would have no choice but using Zeke’s blood, especially given his brother’s limited lifespan. He would never get another chance to visit Marley, nor was it certain that Zeke and he would manage to make contact. Worst case scenario, Zeke dies before meeting Eren, Colt gets the Beast, the Global Alliance attacks Paradis and they get fucked. Or, the SC somehow manage to find a serum to turn Historia into a dumb Titan, have Mikasa and Levi alongside Eren restrain her and use the Rumbling anyway, while also having sacrificed Historia.
Things might have been different if Eren had actually decided to talk about the future he saw. Knowing what would happen if they didn’t try hard enough, might have made the Corps work harder. Of course, Eren just couldn’t predict the outcome of such a decision, so he decided to stay quiet, since, as established above, deep down he wanted to destroy the world.
Eren’s decision in the end came down to this: either he destroys the world or he says “fuck all” and elopes with Mikasa. He loved her enough to abandon everything and live his last few years peacefully with her. His dream about the outside world, Armin, Historia, Paradis, he was ready to turn his back to all of them just so he could selfishly survive with Mikasa. However, both he and Mikasa are incredibly shy people who can’t quite express their feelings easily. So, instead of telling her that he was in love with her, he left it all to her. To top it all off, he framed the question in such a way, that gave her the chance to pick an easy answer, without risking rejection. Then they got interrupted and the rest is history. He said fuck it and accepted his fate.
Attack on Titan’s world does operate under a fixed timeline. Destiny exists. Ever since Ymir became a titan up to Mikasa killing Eren was predetermined. They were meant to happen, exactly as they happened. However, the reason for that is not entirely supernatural. It is just that the personalities of each and every major character led to the result we saw. It is entirely because Eren cared about his friends and because he dreamt of freedom that he chose to rumble the world. It is his and Mikasa’s shyness that robbed them of a future together. Ymir had nothing to do with all that. It wasn’t Ymir who made the Santa Titan dumb enough to not bite Eren properly, nor was she the one who made the Azumabito clan greedy as hell or the Marleyans imperialists.
Eren knew what he would do and this of course played a major role in his decisions. But nobody forced him to do it. And, more than anything, he also knew why. Deep down, he knew. Eren decided Rumble the world, because he wanted his friends and island to be safe and because he hated the world. Eren accepted his fate, because he was left with no choice that he liked, time was running out and because Mikasa didn’t give him the right answer. The result? 80% of humanity dead, some of his friends dead, the ones who survived are mostly well, with Mikasa being the saddest one. The world is slowly marching to war, with the Yeagerists having regrouped and Armin and the co are trying to prevent this. The island’s survival is by no means guaranteed.
Was it all for nothing? I don’t think so. Eren saved Paradis for some time, giving the chance to Armin to save humanity. After all, he did tell him so himself. Eren believed that with the Rumbling leaving the world in the state we saw, Armin would be able to find a solution. The series seems to imply that this is what will eventually happen.
In the end, Eren acted just like himself. Just like he told Falco. His reasons are not that complicated. He kept moving forward, because he was seeing something beyond this hell. We know now what that something was. His actions make total sense. It is just that his deep desire to end the world is rooted in his own childish view of freedom and of the world. In a story about children who need to become adults, Eren remained a child. His two friends on the other hand didn’t. Armin accepted his role as the Commander of the Survey Corps and despite the world not being what he wanted it to be, still fought to protect it from the person he once wished to explore this earth with. Mikasa accepted her role as a guardian of humanity and not Eren’s, like she believed herself to be, and despite wanting to share her life with Eren, she killed him. Eren saved Mikasa and Armin. This is his legacy. A world without titans.

The real heart of AOT.....
God how much she deserved better. And so did we.
Tumblr media
I had to share this amazing fanart I saw over on Twitter. Obviously I claim no credit, and I hope I’m not pushing my luck by posting it here......
There really is no fathoming how much I hate what happened to Sasha. My hatred for Assassin’s Bullet. And how much I hate the guts of the man who made it so, and of the fans who still are making excuses for Gabi Braun to this very day.
This is what they stole from us, for their own pathetic little waifu, the entire series was robbed the day Isayama gave Sasha the axe four years ago in the manga. And in the end, absolutely nothing about it was justified. And who were the ones who got indulged by exploiting Sasha post-mortem? THE GABI BRAUN FANS.
You still proud of yourselves for putting the brat on a pedestal? For your part in bringing down the series by indulging the man who insisted on pushing this damaged merchandise on us that served no meaningful purpose by the end? For the fact that your waifu actively exploited Sasha and all her connections?
Still proud of yourselves?
Sasha had so much more to give. She was more integral to the story than those who still with season four will ever admit. What happened in season four was a perversion and exploitation of the show’s original cast, in favor of ones who contributed nothing of value. It’s extraordinarily difficult to enjoy Sasha anymore because everything that ever follows now is centered on the unjustified manner in which she was killed off. And the fans who defend it are just as guilty as the asshole who made that call.
There is no Attack on Titan without Sasha. And there is no Attack on Titan with Gabi. Sasha Deserves Better. She still does. Gabi’s fans? They aren’t owed a goddamned thing.

Hizuru wants to take Mikasa immediately.
The military wants to keep Mikasa as a bargaining chip for Hizuru and to keep the Yeager brat in check.
The Yeagerists keeps trying to take Mikasa and the child for their "own safety"
Even Zeke asks to see his niece and nephew. (Yes, if it wasn't bad enough... Mikasa had to carry twins.)
Then there's Eren...
Eren abandoned them first so she's going to do what's best for her children. Mikasa tearfully hugged Levi and Armin before getting in a carriage to take her to a place far, far away.
That'd be so fucking painful.
She's being treated as an object for each of the side's benefits, it's not because they actually care about her.
When Zeke gets to know it, i think he'll have a conflict tho, his little brother has kids, that means he's an uncle, meaning he has a family, one he yearned for, and Mikasa is so kind hearted that if they meet she'll actually introduce them to him. [btw this is me just trying to have some zeke and mikasa moments cuz Isayama robbed us]
Make it like this, she's trying to leave but the military, meaning Zackley, Nile and MPs stop them before they can escape and bring them in the same cells Eren is in, not the same cell but like they pass by each other. Zeke is with her too then.
A whole lotta angst cause Mikasa refuses to talk to him, she just makes sure that her babies are secure and Zeke helps her.
