Maya: I am the ultimate third wheel.
Riley, cuddling with Lucas: You shouldn’t think that way.
Cory, holding hands with Topanga: What makes you say that?
Isadora, sitting in Farkle’s lap: Complete untrue.
Maya: Wow. I have leveled up to the seventh wheel. I am truly powerful.

Fire in the Water (Chapter 23)
Story Notes:
Focal ship: Lucas/Maya (slow burn ish)
Rating: Mature/Teen & Up
23: Circuit Breaker (Isadora POV)
Patrick brought out a side of Isadora that teased her mercilessly. It was the side that played with possibilities in science; the side that daydreamed of hula dancing with Lucas in Hawaii; the side that often tempted her to join Maya on the roof during Gym class.
That side of her had always been there. It helped her win her best Debate achievement in middle school, and because of that she caught Farkle’s eye as something more than an intellectual adversary. And because of that, Isadora gained more friends; friends she cared for, in myriad ways.
Friends who cared for her in myriad ways too.
Patrick was wrong to suggest they didn’t.
Or, read from the beginning…

I will forever and always defend Smarkle wholeheartedly and I need to discuss this because they are SO underrated
First of all, Smackle is generally a really underrated character, I think she's such an interesting part of the friend group and its development, and her friendships with each character are just the sweetest, she's just a really nice character to watch in my opinion.
BUT. Smarkle. I am their number one supporter and defender. They are so often discarded and ignored because the relationship is 'boring' or they ship Farkle with someone else (which is valid ship whatever you want), but no one talks about how lovely they are! They have such a cute little rivals to lovers arc, it's really sweet seeing Smackle express continuous interest in Farkle throughout her whole appearance, and then when they're together they have the most adorably affectionate and understanding relationship on the show! Like they're the only canon ship I actually enjoy watching because it's so healthy! It's cringe in a cute way, not an awkward and hard to watch way, and after they get together, they're just vibing for the rest of the show, barely any conflict, just comfort.
I have been doing a lot of rants lately, but THEY DESERVE IT. THEY DESERVE ALL THE LOVE.

Conversation
Riley: Why do we have to commemorate everything on social media? Why can't we just live in the moment?
Farkle: You were on Twitter the entire time you were in line.
Isadora: You tweeted thank you to a Target ad telling you to have a happy Labor Day.

A Flower in a Field of Wheat- Part One
Tumblr media
It wasn’t that Lucas disliked New York or the people in it. He loved Riley and Maya, albeit in different ways, Farkle was great and now he had Zay. Even Charlie Gardner was a Constant source of entertainment. So no, it wasn’t that Lucas Friar disliked New York. It was just that it reminded him far too much of Rosemary.
The constant smell of meat cooking from small vendors just outside his moms apartment reminded him of staying up late with his little sister and cooking food. The music on street corners reminded him of her Azure bass guitar that matched her eyes. It reminded him of how the deep rattling of the strings were heard throughout their house at obscure hours of the day. The small parks and gardens reminded him of her name and how she would press and dry flowers to put in her books. The small horse statues in the pawn shop reminded him of how she rode her own horse for fun, staring out at sunrise and sunset alike.
Even his friends reminded him of her, even if it was small. Farkle had her thirst for knowledge and love for learning. Smackle had her no nonsense manner and lack of filter. Riley had her love for people. Maya would have been her best friend with both of their resilience. And Zay had the memories of her that they shared. Every time someone would do something so very similar to her both of their eyes would fill with a wistful yearning.
Rosemary was left so utterly alone when Lucas and Zay left her behind in the hot farm in Texas. They had run off to New York, leaving her behind. She understood of course, it wasn’t hard to grasp why they had to move across the country. Still, it was hard for her to cope with. However when she talked with her councilor and learned she was moving to New York to enter a new high school better equipped for her mind, she was ecstatic. Rose had thought of her two best friends every day, and they had thought of her.
Rosemary Friar was unforgettable. Anyone who had ever crossed her path carried a piece of her soul with them. They would see her in the rain she loved or the books she would loose herself in. They would see her in the tea she loved to drink and the pens she always carried. They would see her in collared shirts or sweaters. They would see her in fresh baked bread and random little gifts. They would see her in live singers and old guitars and coffee stained sheet music. They saw her in boots and aviators and leather jackets and silver rings and red hair ties.
They would recount her name when asked if they were ever given kindness by a complete stranger. They would remember her bright smile and crinkly eyes she’s they thought back to when they were told something that helped them. They would whisper her story every time a child talked of the coolest person they ever met.
One person in particular would recount these things. Because Rose didn’t care what others thought, she made her own judgements. So outside an apartment building, on an empty park bench, she sat next to a boy with brown curls and a green jacket and talked about the stars.
Rosemary Friar touched every soul. And she would touch none more than Charlie Gardners.
