Fanon mischaracterization of the Drakes is how I end up making a post defending Tim’s parents from baseless fanon bashing only to immediately after make a post complaining about their canon parenting.

If you were emotionally neglected as a child you might think having a person obsessed with you will help fill that void for attention you never got. But what kind of attention is it? Is it nourishing attention? Usually it's about control, and they end up criticizing your every move. Remember, control reduces you to an object.
Respect > attention

Parents who compete with their own children are sick.
Even to look at a child with competitive eyes, for an adult, is shameful. You are supposed to take care of that human being, not be jealous of the attention, not take them as a threat to your insecurities, not make sure they don't 'have a better life' than you did, not someone to outsmart and put down for being stupid, so you could feel superior to them.
Normal humans do not want or desire to feel superior to children. There's no need. It's very clear that this is a child, inexperienced, clueless and completely non-threatening human in development. Anyone can outsmart a kid or steal attention from them, because they're children! It shouldn't soothe anyone's insecurity to do that, it should make you feel absolutely terrible because why are you competing and taking resources away from a literal child! Are you that hungry for attention and praise? Are you that clueless that even a child's intelligence comes off as a threat? Are you willing to inflict damage, insecurity and neglect on a kid to feel better about your own damn self? A child being damaged and neglected is what makes you feel good and happy inside?
Pathetic. Shameful. Sick and disgusting. Thousand years of shame on you if you ever do that to a kid.

“The Sullys didn’t owe Spider anything, they didn’t adopt him.” It is basic decency to not leave a child with the murderers that kidnapped him. Much less a child you knew since infancy, much less a child who at least two of your children love like he’s their own brother.

speaking my truth….
people who write jason with pit madness actually just want stephanie brown
I mean for the most part fanon Jason really is just Stephanie Brown with the main differences being the crime lord thing and Jason being Bruce's adopted son but I think it would be easier to just make an au where stephs a crime boss rather then completely destroy Jason's whole ass character by giving him pit madness

CW - mind-blowing lack of critical thinking skills, spider slander, etc.
what in the HOT HELL is this (blurring out the user cause I'm not here to start drama)
Bored??? the poor thing looks emotionally damaged.
he finally got rescued by the people who abandoned him for months, who he was willing to be tortured and die for, and he had to watch his brother die because of it. not only did he die, but he died in front of him, for him. spider and Lo'ak were the ones holding him up as he bled out (we can't see from the angle, but he also probably held pressure on the exit wound).
he saved his dad (which I won't be discussing why I don't blame him for that, cause I don't care enough) who cared for him more in a couple of months then the Sully's did for him in 16 years. he has no idea what he's supposed to do, what's expected of him. he feels out of place in what should be his family. he's never been included in family life with them and now he's at the funeral of his brother. the women who almost killed him literally 5 feet away.
he looks like he's dissociating, numb, cause I don't know, he's a kid who just want through a shit ton of traumatizing events back to back. he looks hesitant because he knows one wrong move, one ounce of perceived disrespect could get him killed.
he looks like a traumatized 16 years old reacting to his brothers death. cut him some slack. there is so much going through his head, he's just floating through the motions.
if you think he's being disrespectful, check yourself, cause that's genuinely terrifying.

I feel like there's something to be said about the way fandom will treat characters who's trauma they can personally relate to Vs characters who they cant
#like obviously fandom has a thing against unpalatable victims regardless of where their trauma is from#but like#people tend to be way more understanding and compassionate to trauma that they can personally relate to or comprehend#in narutos case:#naruto struggled academically and was bullied as a child. he was alone and neglected on an emotional/domestic level#people can relate to aspects of his character despite the fantasy stuff of being a human sacrifice and part of the military and tend to car#alot more about his struggles#on the other hand the uchiha are discriminated against. sasuke is the sole survivor of ethnic cleansing/genocide. that is not something mos#people could even fathom the pain and trauma of. i mean its fucking /genocide/. and ontop of that he was essentially mind raped by his#brother. the person who he loved the most who betrayed him#and is still expected to function in a society that provides no support and continues to objectify him for his clans desirable traits#i feel like atla is also a good example#people can relate to and sympathize with the parental abuse and inadequacy/anger issues zuko deals with. and are forgiving when it comes to#his redeption arc#but when you take a character like jet. who has trauma in loosing his entire village/community and taking on a caretaker role to other#war orphans. thats not exactly a regual occurrence the average person can personally understand. his trauma is directly related to the war#and so despite him doing WAYY less shitty things than zuko. his is still demonized by the narrative. killed off and then mocked#and the fandom largely saw nothing wrong with this outcome#hama is in a similar bag but she also has the whole 'exploding apartments of pregnant women' distraction tactics added onto her#cause just showing colonialism and forced assimilation and fucking SLAVERY is bad on its own isnt enough ig#psii.txt#slavery mention#genocide mention#rape mention
