call me dad// tony stark
pairing: dad!tony stark x daughter!reader
warnings: mentions of injury, death of a parent, mentions of abortion, time jumps, shitty ending
summary: when tony first met his daughter she wanted nothing to do with him but when she thought she lost him she realises just how much he means to her
REQUEST
Tumblr media
Being the child of a single parent is hard. But losing that parent is even harder. But what is even harder is finding out that the person you now have to live with is the one person who couldn’t have cared less about you in the past 15 years of your life.
This is what happened to Y/N after her mother died. It was hard for her losing her mother but it was even harder when her case worker told her she would be living with her father over her grandparents as they believed they were not suitable to raise a child due to their age and health. Y/N had never met her father, she only knew about him because her mother would tell her stories of how they met and how everything was before his parents died, she would also use him as an example to her daughter on how to not be treated by a man, to show her daughter you can be successful and raise a child.
//
Tony was stood in the living room at Stark Tower looking at the folder he had been given by Coulson when his phone rang.
“Hello”
“Hi, is this Mr Stark?”
“It is? Can I ask who’s calling”
“Of course, my name is Tia. I’m calling from Child Protective Services, it’s regarding your daughter”
“Umm, I think you have the wrong number. I don’t have a daughter” Hearing the word daughter caught Tony off guard, he doesn’t have a daughter there is no way he could.
“Well do you know a Miss Stephanie Taylor?” That name. He hadn’t heard that name in over 15 years, of course he thought about her on occasion but not since Pepper.
“Umm yes, why is she relevant”
“Well, I hate to be the one to tell you this Mr Stark but she passed away a few days ago and she has a daughter”
Tony was shocked to hear she had passed, but why was CPS telling him this. To say he was confused was an understatement.
“I’m sorry but why are you telling me this I haven’t spoken to Stephanie for over 15 years”
“That’s the thing, she has a 15 year old daughter
As soon as Tony heard those words he almost fell over, immediately he knew why they were telling him this but none of it made sense how the hell does he have a child…
//
“It’s only me honey” Tony called entering Stephanie’s flat that he had a key too.
As Tony walked through the flat he was confused, normally as soon as he walks through the door he is being jumped on by his girlfriend but this time there was no sign of her.
“Honey, where are you”
“I’m in the bathroom” He heard a small voice call out breaking slightly.
As he walked through to the bathroom the sound of sniffles and whimpers became slightly louder.
“Hey, what’s going on? What’s got my girl so upset” Tony said sitting next to Stephanie on the floor, causing her to rest her head on his shoulder.
“Tony, I’m pregnant” Stephanie said to him looking up at him slightly
“Oh, is that what’s got you all worked up, it’s going to be okay I promise”
“But I don’t think I want to keep it, we are too young, you’ve just lost your parents and we just aren’t ready”
“Breathe baby, it’s your body so you do whatever you need to do okay and I’ll be with you no matter what you choose” Tony said pressing a kiss against Stephanie’s forehead.
2 weeks later…
It had been 2 weeks since Stephanie had found out she was pregnant although she hadn’t decided what she was going to do about it. It’s such a big decision for the two of them. There was a part of Stephanie that wanted to keep the baby, she had always wanted a baby but just not right now, well it wasn’t planned to be right now.
Stephanie walked into the party Tony had decided to throw for no reason but because he wanted a party which was very normal for him. Stephanie was wearing a deep red silk dress with a low back and a v-neck, and as she entered the room she was immediately looking for Tony. She needed to talk to him about their situation and it had to happen now she needed to get it off her chest.
She turned the corner and saw Tony talking to a blonde women and before Stephanie could say anything he kissed the blonde. Stephanie felt sick, he was cheating.
She quickly left the party and rushed to the bedroom and packed her stuff up. She ripped a piece of paper out of a notebook she found a wrote this note on it:
Tony,
I saw it all. I hope she makes you really happy, more than I could obviously. I’m leaving, I’m not going to sit back and watch as you convince her you love her more than anything in the world when I know for a fact you can’t love more than one person. Not really. That one person for you is you!
Goodbye forever,
Stephanie
//
Tony thought back to the moment he found the letter. He knew he screwed up badly but he also knew Stephanie and he knew she was stubborn and independent and there was no amount of words that could convince her to come back to him so he saved his breath and let her leave without a single word.
He thought she had the abortion, she seemed so certain about it. If he had known about her he would have made more of an effort, actually been in Y/N’s life but instead she grew up without a dad and honestly it made her closer to her mum and grandparents because they stuck around but it also left her with some internal problems, it was hard for Y/N to trust people in case they would change so quickly just like her dad did and the thought of being alone scared her more than anything.
Tony agreed to take Y/N after the situation was explained by your case worker, it was either go with him or end up in the system and neither him or Pepper wanted that. She had agreed to help Tony raise Y/N and he wanted to be better, he felt lots of guilt already for not being around although he had known about Y/N for approximately 10 minutes but that was long enough. He had always said if he ever became a dad he would be more involved than his own father was but instead he was nowhere to be seen in Y/N’s life, it was almost as if she didn’t have a father at all.
//
6 months later…
It had been an adjustment for Y/N to have a dad but to have that dad be Tony Stark was a completely different experience. Granted he was trying to be there for Y/N but with the current situation with Loki he wasn’t overly present, leaving Y/N in the trusted hands of Pepper and Happy.
Both Y/N and Pepper were on the jet on the way to DC when they saw on the news that there was an attack on New York and of course Tony was there. The tension in the jet was felt by everyone, something pulled at Y/N’s chest although she wasn’t sure why as she had no major feelings towards her father he was just her responsible adult, he wasn’t her father, her dad, nothing. Just another man, she hadn’t even called him dad yet.
She felt her phone vibrate in her lap which pulled her attention away from the TV, when she saw Tony’s name lighting up her screen.
“Hello” Y/N said, confused as he was supposedly fighting Loki and his army.
“Hey kid, look I need you to listen to me okay. I don’t know how much time I have left” Tony said.
“Yeah, um okay” Y/N said walking to the end of the jet away from the noise and other people.
“I’m sorry for not being there for you, I always promised myself I would be better than my dad but I ended up being just like him if not worse. If I could go back and try and find your mum before it was too late I would in a heartbeat. I wish I could have been there for all your firsts. These past 6 months have been amazing, you are going to do amazing things I just know it. I love yo…” Tony said as the line began to crack, eventually losing all signal.
“Tony, Tony…”
//
3 hours later…
No one knew what actually happened that day, whether Tony survived the fall or not; they just awaited the teams return at Shield Headquarters. Both Y/N and Pepper were sat waiting in one of the empty offices when a car pulled up outside, without even seeing who pulled up the flashing of cameras from the paparazzi stationed outside the building told the two of them the Avengers were back.
Both Y/N and Pepper rushed down to the foyer to see if he was there but they couldn’t see him. How had she gone from having a mum, then no mum to having a dad then having no one all in the space of a few hours. A few tears began to fall slowly down her cheek until she heard his voice.
“Did you miss me?”
Y/N rushed into Tony’s arms without even a second thought. There was slight confusion on Tony’s face, what had happened for Y/N to go from wanting nothing to do with him to now hugging him and crying in his arms.
“I love you dad” Y/N said quietly
Tony was gobsmacked. He never once expected to hear those words come out of her mouth but he loved it nonetheless.
“God, I love you too kid” Tony said holding his daughter close for the first time feeling content for the first time in years.

Flirty bully coming your way
Summary: Midtown organizes a school trip at Stark Industries' where the one and only Y/N Stark decides to teach a lesson to Peter's bully.
Warnings: none really, just a tiny bit of language
—————————————————————
Tumblr media
————————————————————
"May, I'm going! See you later!" Peter yelled from the kitchen, quickly grabbing a toast and running towards the door.
"Pete, school isn't for another hour!" May answered, poking her head out of her bedroom door.
"I know, but we have the school trip today and I don't want to be late." He explained, impatiently biting on his toast as he held the door open, ready to run.
May walked into the kitchen, still in her pajamas, looking at her nephew in amusement.
"Alright honey. Be careful, have fun and tell Y/N I say hi!" She smiled at how excited his nephew was in spite of his regular presence in the tower.
"Will do!" The boy smiled to himself at the only mention of your name.
Another reason, and also the main one, to be excited for this trip was the fact that he'd get to spend a whole day with you. Let's just say that between school, patrolling and choosing to keep your relationship a secret from your father, it was getting harder and rarer for the two of you to have some proper time to yourself.
He knew that the whole school was going to take part in this trip, but that wouldn't stop him from finding you the moment he'd get to his destination.
The moment Peter set foot in the school bus, he recognized the friendly faces of his two best friends.
"Hey!" He smiled walking towards them.
"You excited?" Ned asked, already aware of the answer. Peter nodded energetically as he sat beside his best friend, not able to play it cool the way he had planned.
"Hey Peter," A voice called from behind them. It was of a girl that Peter had seen once or twice around the school and who had taken a seat right next to MJ. "is it true that you have an internship at Stark's?"
"Yeah" Peter smiled shyly, not wanting to drag the attention to himself. "No big deal".
"Have you ever met Iron Man?" The girl asked, her eyes filled with curiosity and amazement.
"Well-" The boy begun to answer but was rudely interrupted by the well-known school bully.
"Obviously not. Do y'all seriously believe all the crap that Penis Parker makes up?" Flash laughed loudly, causing his group to giggle along.
"Just ignore him." MJ whispered as Peter's fists clenched. He decided that it was best if he just turned around.
"For your information, Peter has met Mr. Stark countless times!" Ned stood up to defend his friend, completely blowing off Peter's attempt to keep a low profile.
"Oh really? And do tell us, Parker," Flash continued, not willing to let go the matter. "Did you also have the honor to bring coffee to all the Avengers? Or are you exclusively the dog of Mr. Jerk?"
A whole lot of giggles erupted from the back of the bus, Flash' being the loudest. As the boy teased, he started getting closer and closer to Peter's seat, not risking to miss the expression on his face.
The spider-boy's fist started to clench and his whole body stiffened. "Mr. Stark is a perfectly respectable man." He mumbled.
He remembered quite well the time he found himself saving his bully's life, and he hated that he couldn't bring himself to regret it. He was a hero, after all. The only thing that helped him to keep his calm, together with Ned and MJ's words, was the memory of all the words of adulation Flash used to wash Peter's alter-ego with every day.
"Perhaps you even got to shag that hottie of y/n Stark?" He laughed even harder. "I know I would get her in no time." As the last word left his mouth, Peter couldn't take it anymore. He was used to getting insulted over and over again, but when it came to you he couldn't let it happen.
The chestnut haired boy got up quickly, turning to face his bully who was rather close to his seat.
"How dare you-" As words found their way out of his lips trough gritted teeth, MJ pulled his sleeve signaling that he should let it go.
"Oh, what happened? Penis Parker's crush is out of his league? Well, I'm not surprised. If she's breathing, she's already out of your league." And with that said, almost everyone was laughing.
Luckily enough the driver's voice interrupted their conversation.
"Take your seats in silence, this isn't an amusement park." He scolded grumpily.
"Heard that, Eugene?" MJ mockingly raised her eyebrows as the boy huffed, walking back to his seat.
Peter's eyes were still seeking revenge for all the years of bullying that had piled up, not being able to forget a single insult Flash had ever said to him. But this. Insulting Mr. Stark, insulting you- it was too much.
Ned slowly pulled him down to sit again. MJ's voice got close to Peter's ear, so that she wouldn't be heard by the girl sitting next to her. "You know how much I'd enjoy watching you completely disintegrate that guy but even so, it'd be useless. You'd just get in trouble. You won't prove your point because no matter what, you still can't tell him about..." She paused. "You know."
Peter nodded, breathing slowly to calm himself down and decided to patiently wait until they'd get to their destination. He knew his friend was right, so he put in his earphones to help himself ignore his bully.
—————————————————————
The moment the class walked into the tower, following the far too enthusiastic teacher, the head of Mr. Stark's personal security team was ready to examine their backpacks and bags.
When Peter's turn came, he handed the man his backpack that only contained a sandwich for the day and a few other harmless items. Although, the man didn't take ahold of his bag, instead he looked at the boy and gestured him to pass.
"Don't worry Peter, I know you're clean." The man almost smiled.
"Thanks, Happy." Peter smiled, slightly embarrassed at the thought of the whole school watching. Some of the students who were closer and had witnessed the scene gave Peter a confused look to why Mr Stark's head of security would know someone like Peter Parker.
"Internship." Was all the boy said shrugging slightly, although it came out more as a question than as an explanation.
"Alright, let's move towards the elevator everyone! Mrs Potts herself will say a few words in the theatre in a few minutes!" The teacher announced excitedly, freeing Peter from all the stares.
Everyone made their way to the elevator, getting into the room-sized platform.
"Now, the theatre is floor 25. Or -19. Or maybe it's 44. Oh God, so many buttons!" The man quietly freaked out to himself while the rest of the class chatted about how unreal the experience felt.
"It's on floor 3, Mr Wilson." Peter spoke up. Mr Wilson looked at the boy with a puzzled expression, as if to say 'and how would you know that?'
"Mr. Stark always gathers his interns in the auditorium when he needs to announce something." Peter explained shyly. It was a lie, but no one needed to know that. The teacher sent him a grateful nod, then pressed the button that would lead them to the huge room.
As everyone took a seat, a woman appeared in the middle of the large stage. Starstruck eyes were all Pepper could see from her position, explaining the rules of what can and cannot be touched during the upcoming tour.
"Now, to make sure your experience here gets as pleasant as possible you'll be divided in groups for the tour, each one of which will be guided by a different referee. We'll alternate three groups at the time in each room. As I call your name please step on stage." Pepper started reading from her binder some names, causing several people to climb the stage.
Once everyone was settled into their group, - Peter ending up with both his friends and Flash - Pepper casually added "Alright, now your tutors for the day. For group number one, two and three we have Mr Clinton Barton, Dr Bruce Banner and myself. The following three groups will be following Miss Wanda Maximoff, Mr Stark and Mr Sam Willson. And last but not least, the remaining groups will be guided by Mr Steve Rogers, Miss Natasha Romanoff and Miss y/n Stark."
The moment these words left her mouth, cheers and screams erupted from each group. Not long after, Steve entered the stage followed by the others. The moment girls saw him in his suit, they were all about to rip their hair off, screaming and jumping.
You were sipping your coffee, ready to head on stage once you'd have finished.
After properly introducing himself - not that it was needed - Cap spoke up. "Alright, shall we get star-" But a loud noise cut him off, causing everyone's heads to shoot up toward the now open ceiling.
Iron Man's suit descended slowly from above them, causing Pepper to pinch the bridge of her nose and shake her head in frustration. After placing itself on the ground, the red and golden armor shot open revealing a formally dressed Tony Stark. "Starting without me, are you Cap?"
"You're late." Steve replied in a straight face.
"Forgive me for wanting to make an impression. Grand entrance, ever heard of it?" Tony's voice dripped with sarcasm as he adjusted his tie.
"What a showoff." You exclaimed as you too walked on stage, earning glances and causing loud whispers to rise.
"Alright everybody!" Pepper tried to reinstate order before the situation could worsen. "Let's get started. Stick with your group and your Avenger and...have fun!" She smiled in frustration, sending the groups off to the tour.
—————————————————————
"Hey Cap!" You smiled batting your eyelashes at him the way you always used to do when you needed something. "Looking good today!"
"What do you want y/n?" He playfully rolled his eyes as he waited for the group to tag along.
"You see...I couldn't help but notice that...well, Peter's in your group. I was wandering if maybe we could-"
"Switch?" He completed your question. "Not in a hundred years of life."
"I only have eight more to go then, so you'll be 101." You chuckled, causing him to join in.
"You know what? Alright. But my eyes will be on you two the whole time. And if I see something I don't like, I'm telling Tony."
"Roger that." You smiled excitedly right before hugging him. "Thank you!"
"Now let's go." He giggled as our groups finally came along. You immediately spotted Peter and you sent a quick wink his way after eyeing up and down. You then started leading everyone out.
"Did y/n Stark just wink at you?" Ned asked in disbelief.
"Why are you surprised? I've been talking about her for the past six months, dude." Peter remarked in disbelief.
"I know, I know! It's just- it's real!"
"Wow. Thanks for the trust, man." Peter playfully shook his head in disbelief.
"Don't take this the wrong way but...it's just- she looks so out of you league when you're not in your suit."
"I know." Peter smiled goofily. "She's perfect isn't she?"
"Yeah." Ned nodded, still not able to take his eyes off you. Somehow, you were even more beautiful in real life.
"Man! That's my girl you're drooling over!" Peter whispered then chuckled lightly.
—————————————————————
"And this is where the weapons used to be assembled." You said as you set foot into another room of what used to be a death factory. "Feel free to look around for as much as you'd like. Just- don't touch anything, we really would rather if you didn't blow up." You commented sarcastically, causing Cap to speak up.
He chuckled nervously before sending you a death glare that only made you laugh harder. "She's joking, no one is going to explode…hopefully."
"Anyways, if you have any questions we'll be here." You smile as you watched everyone explore a different part of the room.
"Hey, why don't you let me show you how to actually get a girl?" Flash cockily asked as a smirk played on his face the moment his eyes fell on you.
"Flash, don't." Peter threatened.
"Or what? You'll hurt me?" He challenged in a mocking tone.
"No. But she will."
"Oh please, she's a chick. Watch and learn."
Buzz! Buzz!
Your phone had just gotten a text. You took it out of your pocket and saw it was from Peter.
Pete💘
Flirty bully coming your way...
You
I got this ;)
"I have a question!" An approaching voice caused your head to snap up.
"Yes?" You ask politely as you put your phone away.
That boy must've been Flash, the guy Peter told you about a couple of times. He's a real jerk and Peter's too clever to screw with his strength and powers for someone like that. He knew that if he wanted he could take him out with a touch but Peter grew kind, selfless - and hotter - everyday more, which made you constantly fall more for him, even though you didn't think it was possible.
"Did it hurt when you fell from the sky, angel?" He overconfidently approached you, ready to kiss your hand.
"I can ask my daddy to take you for a fly with his suit and drop you so you feel for it yourself." You snapped with a misleading kind smile before starting to walk by him, leaving an unsatisfied Flash frozen in his tracks.
Before moving onto the next phase of your plan, you leaned to his ear and teasingly whispered "Besides, I've met cuter guys."
You knew that that was a straight up insult to his honor and his ego, and you knew exactly what your next step would be.
"Like who?" He asked, crossing his arms to his chest and raising an eyebrow.
"I dont know, Steve?" You answered as if it was the most obvious thing in the world - which it was.
"Thanks, kid!" Cap shouted from across the room, making you giggle lightly. Your move and his response to it confirmed that he, in fact, had his eyes - and ears - on you.
"Don't you need someone more...your age?" He asked flirty, obviously meaning himself.
"Maybe you're right." You smiled mischievously. "There'd be Spiderman..." The moment his alter ego was mentioned, you couldn't help but see Peter's head shoot up in your direction.
"Oh please!" He scoffs. "He's just an arrogant jerk."
At that comment you had to hold yourself back from punching him right in the face - which would have made Nat and Tony proud, for sure.
"You, on the other hand..." You mumbled as your eyebrows shot up. He obviously didn't even get close to get the sarcasm dripping from your words and just winked.
"Well," I continued "when he saved you from that mugging attempt and you kept rambling on about how much of a fan your are, it seemed quite the opposite." You cockily comment while sarcastically inspecting your nails.
"And he's a liar, too." He snapped after a couple of seconds, not being able to think of a comeback fast enough to avoid seeming pathetic.
You sighed, trying to hide the amusement given by the situation. "You're right, he can be a bit or a git sometimes. Plus, he's too cocky and definitely too stubborn." You falsely described the superhero, trying to send any suspect away from Peter. "He's just not my type."
Especially since you knew exactly what your next move would be.
"And what is your type, then?" He asked after gulping loudly, trying to keep his confident attitude up.
"My boyfriend." You spoke, although your words didn't seem to intimidate Flash at all. "He has been working here for just a few months but my father loves him! He is sweet, kind, fun, cute, but I still think he's way out of my league." You chuckled lightly.
"C'mon, I doubt there's someone in this universe who's out of your league." He flirted again. "If you show me a closet or something, I can make you forget about him in no time." He was the one now whispering in your ear. As opposed to the effect that you had on him, though, his flirtatious words did nothing to you.
"I'd never want to forget about him. But thanks...Eugene." You simply replied before turning around, ready to walk away.
"How do you-"
"I'm y/n Stark. I see everything. I know everything." You cockily cut him off, then you swung your hips as you walked towards an amused Cap, who was attentively watching the scene, and a smirking Nat, who held out her fist for you to bump yours against.
"And now?" She asked.
"Now it's time for phase two." You grinned, proud of how everything had gone according to plan and confident in the way you were avenging your boyfriend.
"I'm not sure I like the sound of that." Cap admitted. "Closer than three feet and I'm telling your father."
"You better start heading your way, then." You smiled mischievously, causing Cap to sigh and Net to giggle.
————————————————————
"Didn't go so well, did it?" Flash' friends teased him as his ears had gone red out of embarrassment and anger.
"Told you." Peter muttered as he couldn't help but laugh along.
"Excuse me?" Flash turned around to face the boy, ready - as always - to let his anger out on Peter.
"I told you that you couldn't get her." Peter spoke up as a proud grin found its way on your face.
"And you could, nerd?" He asked as everyone started to laugh along again.
The loud laughs and Peter's clenched fists were your cue: time for phase two. You walked straight up to the group, not having to pretend as a lovestruck smile found its way on your lips.
"Flash!" You called sweetly causing him to turn around, a little taken aback from the sudden change in your mood.
"Realized your mistake, doll?" He teased.
"You never told me you knew Peter!" You exclaimed, completely ignoring his question.
"P-parker?" Flash' tone was filled with anger, embarrassment, jealousy and shock.
"Hey, y-y/n. H-how are you?" Peter stuttered, a little embarrassed by all the attention being on the two of you. His smile caused a blush to take over your cheeks.
"Hey, babe. Is that the Star Wars shirt I gifted you? It looks so good on you!" You cheered confidently as your arms found their way behind the boy's neck.
"Thank-" Before he could get out another syllable he was cut off by your lips on his and, although he was taken aback by the action, it didn't take long for him to melt into the kiss. You brushed your fingers through his chestnut curls, signaling to him that it was alright to pull you closer by the waist.
You could have sworn you heard Flash's jaw hit the floor, or everyone's jaw for that matter.
The kiss quickly came to an end when your father's shouting voice echoed through the room nearby.
"They WHAT?"
Damn you, Cap! You thought.
You chuckled and rested your forehead on Peter's for a second as you sarcastically whispered to him "Glad he caught up after only six months."

The Runaway Distance Life Of A Little Stark Chapter 14: Here's to the good times
Pairing: Tony Stark & daughter!Reader, Nick Fury & reader, parker family & reader, Ben parker & reader Summary: Reader’s birthday warning: Panic attack, memories Co author with: callikc Tag:  @venomsvl  @geeksareunique Previous
Four months had passed.
It was May 30th now, a day you'd never really found much joy in. The day that you were born.
It just reminded you that you never got to meet your mother, that your birth was the reason she died. And you never really got a decent celebration. Sure, you had the money and the mansion to organize a party, but you never had the friends. And, of course, your dad was always too busy to be there.
Birthdays just weren't fun in the Stark household.
As you entered your lab, you let out a heavy sigh and put down an untouched cup of coffee, thinking about what you could possibly do to occupy yourself for the day. Most of your projects were complete and you didn't feel like starting from scratch just yet.
You did have a little side project that was almost finished. It was your own little experiment called Test Eco in which you made your own environment in a glass box from samples of earth's minerals. It needed a test or two so you grabbed one of the many notebooks littered around and approached the box.
"FRIDAY?" You called.
"Yes, miss?" The AI greeted.
"How are we doing on Test Eco?"
"My data suggests the potential for a copper deposit, dropping at fifteen. I also found coltan, cobalt, and silicon."
"Huh..." You peered at the box, impressed by what you could accomplish sometimes. "All of those can be used and processed?"
"In a virtual environment such as this, I'm afraid not. But if presented with real Earth conditions, possibly. However, the most important are the iron and bauxite deposits I detected."
"Construction materials?" You questioned, intrigued.
"Aluminum, and everything needed to repair existing equipment as it ages."
"And the soil?"
"Light on nitrates."
"Nothing I can't compensate for. What about the water sample?"
"There is some salinisation and minimal microbial concentrations."
"Easily eliminated with purification and filtration processes."
"Cleaner than here."
You nodded and smiled, noting down everything. "Thanks, FRIDAY."
"My pleasure, miss."
You once again praised yourself for creating something as amazing as that and were about to do some more tests when you heard a knock on the door of your lab. You turned and saw Fury.
"What did I do now?" You mumbled.
Putting on a smile, you set everything down and went over to let him in.
"Campbell." He greeted in the usual business-like tone.
You nodded once. "Hey, Director."
"You're in early."
"I got bored."
"Hmm."
You stood there, a little awkward. "So can I help with anything, or...?"
Fury entered the lab and closed the door so you'd have more privacy. He looked around, seemingly impressed by some of the things you had created, and then turned to you.
"It's your day off." He stated.
You raised a brow. "Since when do you complain about extra hours?"
"I don't. But today is a 'special occasion'."
"Is it?"
"Happy birthday."
You almost laughed at how strange it sounded coming from someone like him, especially since it seemed so painful for him to say the words, but you kept a neutral expression.
"Thanks, but I think I'll work it off." You said.
"Campbell, you've worked with more dedication and the assiduous nature of half my agents in the time you've been here. SHIELD won't collapse if you take a day off."
"Famous last words."
"Take it as an order."
You crossed your arms. "You're ordering me to take a day off and celebrate?"
He nodded. "Yes."
"I hate you."
"I'm sure you do."
Knowing you couldn't win, you rolled your eyes and shrugged. "Fine. I'll take a day."
"Good." He reached into his jacket and withdrew what looked like a card. "Go crazy."
You smirked, amused. "If this ain't favoritism I don't know what is. How much?"
"Limitless."
"Holy shit." With a grin, you accepted the gift. "You're a softie really, aren't you? Director Furry."
He did not look amused.
"Agent Hill has left you a car outside. It's all yours."
Actually feeling like today could be better than you anticipated, you smiled. "Tell her I said thanks. I'll be back in tomorrow."
He nodded once more. "As expected. Have fun, Campbell."
"Oh, I will."
With a smile and your new gift tucked away safely, the two of you parted ways and you checked everything in the lab before leaving yourself. A few agents and scientists you were friendly with said hi and you waved back.
The car outside was much more impressive than you anticipated. A 2006 Dodge Challenger. Agent Hill certainly knew your tastes.
There was another agent waiting with the keys and he tossed you them when you approached, not saying a word. Most agents didn't anyway, it was normal to be ignored. In fact, you were certain 'grumpy' and 'mute' were part of the pass criteria.
But, God, did that car feel fantastic as you drove.
The roar of the engine, the smooth touch of the wheel, and the leather seats... It was like heaven.
-
After celebrating your birthday with a not so cheap meal and a Starbucks, you decided it was time to head home.
It was only the afternoon and you didn't expect many people to be out on the streets. However, as you parked the new car beside the sidewalk, you noticed a commotion at the end of the road. You didn't bother driving over since there were too many people but you did walk to investigate.
The people were apparently shouting and cheering for something, huddled around two people you couldn't see from your current position.
But then the crowd parted slightly and you felt like your heart dropped in your chest.
It was your dad.
Clint Barton was there as well and the two seemed to be making fun of each other and being general idiots as the adoring public reached out with things to be signed. You could barely breathe.
It was your dad.
He was so close. After all this time...
When you saw him talking to people, you accidently called out. It didn't mean much since the overlapping voices drowned your own and no one noticed you.
You wanted nothing more than to reach out, to let him know you were okay and you were there, but you couldn't. You couldn't without bringing attention to yourself. The threat, now years old, still hung like a shadow and you forced yourself to walk away with tears in your eyes.
It felt like the ghost of Obadiah was strangling you.
Then you just ran.
You ran as far as you could, straight to your apartment. Once there, you slammed the bathroom door and simply broke down as everything overwhelmed you.
You wouldn't get to see him ever again.
Suddenly it didn't seem to matter if he ignored you or you were rude to him, you just wanted a dad again. With no mother or siblings, he was all you had. And you wouldn't ever get the chance to tell him you loved him despite all the estrangement between you.
You fell to the floor and pulled your knees close to your chest as you sobbed. Breathing felt like trying to swallow sandpaper and even if air did make it through it was foreign and unnatural, causing your breakdown to become more severe and messy.
"Ellen?" There was a knock at the door and you looked up, everything blurred and fuzzy.
You left the front door open in your rush but the voice was Ben's so you knew you were safe. You wanted to say something but nothing would leave your mouth. You only lost more air by trying to speak.
"(Y/n)?" He asked more quietly.
You had a hand over your chest as you panicked and fumbled for the bathroom door. There was a click as you unlocked it but then fell back again.
Ben was immediately at your side, his hands on your arms as you fought to breathe. "(Y/n)? Hey, you okay?"
Your body shook and you cried and cried. He didn't want to scare you further and carefully pulled you in for a hug, whispering words of assurance.
Thanks to him your breathing started to get back to normal, your heart no longer as loud. You could finally catch air instead of nothingness. You curled up into the smallest ball you could muster and clutched Ben's arm as he held you, the tears still streaming down your face.
"You're okay, (Y/n)." He said, keeping you close and comforted.
"I nearly talked to him." You spoke up with a broken voice. "My dad."
"Tony?"
You nodded. "He was - He was right there. I-I couldn't - It was-"
"Hey, it's okay. You're okay."
You tried to focus and explain it all, and were thankful he just waited patiently for you to process. After you settled, you moved to your living room and sat down.
"I just can't believe he's really a superhero." You whispered.
"It's a big job." Ben agreed. "I saw him when those things invaded the city. He saved my guys and me. He's a good man."
"A lot of power." You sighed. "All those people he needs to help... With great power comes great responsibility."
Ben studied you carefully and by now he'd known you long enough to realize it wasn't just the superhero status and tough past that made you miss Tony. It was simply just a daughter missing her father.
"He hasn't forgotten, you know." He said.
You looked up, bottom lip still trembling from the earlier panic attack. "What?"
"Tony. He loves you."
"I don't... I don't know."
"(Y/n), he does. A parent never stops loving a child. I'll love Peter until the day I die and even beyond that. Your old man is the same."
You closed your eyes and shook your head. "It's been too long."
"Not for him. Trust me."
You wanted to argue, to insist he was wrong, but you just didn't have the energy. What started off as a decent birthday for once had quickly turned sour. You needed to sleep.
"I'm gonna take five." You decided.
Ben nodded. "Alright. I'm next door if you need me, kid."
"Thanks."
He smiled sadly and wrapped his arms around you one more time. You melted into the hug and took the moment to breathe, wishing you could stay like that forever.
"Happy birthday." He then said, placing a kiss on the top of your head.
-
You woke up about an hour later to a light weight on your middle. You weren't too sure on what it was until a little boy's giggle followed.
"Peter Benjamin Parker, what are you doing?" You grumbled, eyes still closed.
"Morning, Ellen." You heard his cheery tone greet back. "I want to show you something."
"Go away, I'm dead."
"No, you're just lazy."
"Peter!" A new voice scolded.
You opened your eyes at that, realizing two more people accompanied him. "May? Ben?"
You were surprised.
May held a birthday cake lit with candles, and Ben held a bag that looked filled to the brim with all kinds of snacks and candy. Peter was standing next to the bed with half of his body on top of yours and an adorable child-like grin on his face.
Tumblr media
"What's the occasion?" You joked.
Peter rolled his eyes and poked your cheek. "Don't play dumb. It's song time."
"No, thanks. I like my windows in one piece."
He stuck out his tongue. "Shut up and listen."
"Peter." May scolded again while Ben simply laughed.
"Sorry." He mumbled, standing straight.
Then, on the count of three, Ben initiated the singing.
"Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to Ellen... Happy birthday to you!" The three of them sang.
During the song, Peter sent a not-so-subtle wink when your alias was named which made you laugh.
"Thank you." You then said with a smile. "Really."
"Aren't you, like, ancient now?" Peter teased.
You playfully glared, then looked at his aunt and uncle. "Are you sure you two raised him?"
They laughed and May shrugged. "I think it's your influence, Ellen."
You faked a gasp. "I am insulted!"
"And I'm hungry." Peter complained, taking your hand and dragging you out of bed. "Come on!"
And for the rest of the afternoon the four of you had a mini party.
You had pizza and cake and watched some random TV in the background. The Parkers had even gotten you a gift. It was a homemade lava lamp in your favorite color. It was a simple gift, but it meant the world.
For the first time, your birthday was genuine fun. Save for the incident earlier on, you felt truly appreciated and loved. You couldn't help but remember celebrating all your other birthdays alone since you never got along with your dad.
Even after Parkers left - May for work and Peter to study - you had a smile on your face. However, thinking back on your life also made you also think forwards, and you realized there was something you needed to take care of.
The warehouse in Upstate.
You hadn't visited in a while since it was mostly just storage for you now. It was collecting a ton of dust but it still felt like home, bearing in mind it was for a few months when you were homeless.
The inside was tall and looming, shrouded in darkness. Even asking FRIDAY to illuminate the place didn't do much. Still, it wasn't too difficult to navigate.
"Hey, FRIDAY?" You called softly.
"Yes, miss?" She replied.
You looked at the clear space ahead of you and took a breath. "Show me Protocol Waterlight."
"Are you sure, miss?"
"Nope, but go ahead."
Even FRIDAY hesitated, but finally did bring up the image.
It seemed so innocent at first, just a calming lake with a distant sunset. It was in the form of a hologram, meaning the water rippled and glistened in the dusk light. However, that sunset was simply the promise of a future sunrise, a light to eventually emerge from the coming darkness.
Time went on, and little waterlights began to appear, floating on the surface of the lake. Their candles made the water appear like a night sky filtered with stars, beacons so far away and yet seemingly so close. It resembled a tribute almost.
As you watched, the orange glare reflected in your eyes, you focused on each individual lantern, remembering little bits of your past and the stories you created as you grew up.
Tumblr media
One of your very first memories was sneaking into your dad's workshop and watching him take apart one of his cars. You took mental notes and tried to do the same with another car the next week but he had only gotten annoyed.
You remembered one of your birthdays in which Pepper, Happy, and Rhodey tried to celebrate with you. They had made you a beautiful cake and bought you so many amazing presents but the first thing you asked was where your dad was. You could see the looks of uncertainty on their faces even now.
You remembered high school, with so many people wanting to be your friend solely because of your last name. They would ask what it was like to be rich and live in a mansion with such a famous father but when you had no amazing stories to tell they simply started to act as if you didn't exist anymore.
You remembered running away. That fear and coldness, the thought of leaving everything behind, it haunted you even now. That shadow might never lift, and you didn't know how much longer you could live with it.
You remembered everything as you watched the waterlights. From childhood to the present, things were as clear as day.
And when you thought of your dad...
Instead of feeling rage and hate and malice, you smiled tearfully. Thinking of him was the easy part, you did it every day. But missing him? That hurt like hell. Even in the darkest days, when you felt inadequate and unworthy, you found yourself remembering who you were. You remembered whose daughter you were.
You were (Y/n) Stark, and it was about time you came to terms with that.

Disneyland
Tony Stark
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a sunny day, so Tony decided to take his adorable little girl, y/n, to Disneyland. Even though she was only two, he could always retake her. He dressed her up as Minnie Mouse.
They got to Disneyland, and he took her on the few rides she could go on, one being the teacups. Happy, who Tony had made come with them, had gone on the ride with them and taken pictures.
They got off the last ride before y/n began to yawn as she rested her head against Ton's shoulder, and he decided to take her home and bring her again when she was older.
Two years later.
Tony had decided to surprise y/n by taking her to Disneyland, as it had been a couple of years. When they got there, Tony carried her around, waiting for her to tell him which ride she wanted to go o.
When she pointed out a ride, Tony took a look and decided if she could go on it or not. Most the times she could but he had to go with her, he didn't mind as long as his little princess was happy. Like two years before, she had fallen asleep on his shoulder, and Tony decided to take her home to put her to bed.
The next day, the next week, the only thing she talked about was Disneyland.
Until she was taken somewhere else by Tony, she would talk about her new adventure.
The end.

Waiting for Spiderman - (Part 4) Peter Parker x (Y/N)
Peter Parker x fem!stark!avenger!reader
Warning: some flashbacks which the reader is somewhat shocked by
Hey guys! I am so sorry I haven't uploaded recently. This is the final part of the Waiting for Spiderman series (unfortunately), so thank you so much for all the support you've shown it. It means a lot to me.
Also, I have zero inspiration after writing this, so requests would be much appreciated.
If you haven't read the previous parts, go to the masterlist so you can find them all! Here is my complete masterlist with all the fanfics I've written as well.
A/N: This fanfic is inspired by the song 'Waiting for Superman' by Daughtry (I changed it to Spiderman for obvious reasons). Also, Pietro never died. Let me know if you want to be tagged. Enjoy ;)
It wasn't a wonder Flash knew about (Y/N)'s mother. What had happened to Laura Stark had been on the news for months after her disappearance. Tony had made sure people never forgot her, because he always held out hope that his wife, the mother of his daughter, would someday come back.
(Y/N) had been two when her mother had gone on a mission for S.H.I.E.L.D, leaving her daughter with her only sister. Police closed the investigation two years after Tony had reported her missing, but fourteen years later, everyone who knew her still kept hoping.
Even people who hadn't known her as well. (Y/N) Stark had been forced to listen to rumors regarding her mother all her life. After she arrived in Queens, she had managed to develop a sense of always being ready to hear something about the Unsolved Case of Laura Stark.
And now, she got caught off guard. Right there in the gym of Midtown High, she let her guard down and Flash had hit her right where it hurt.
Thankfully, Peter Parker had more sense than most boys his age. He took one look at (Y/N)'s frozen expression, Flash's arm still on her wrist, and jumped to pull her away. He didn't even pay attention to Flash's deathstare. All he cared about was getting the girl out of that situation as quickly as possible.
"(Y/N), what did he say?" Ned asked as his friend sat her down on the bleachers. Peter shook his head at Ned, as if to silence him from any further questions.
The coach was rounding up the students in the middle of the gym, but the three paid no attention to him.
(Y/N)'s eyes were staring straight ahead, the shock still clear in her eyes. She felt nothing but surprise, shock at what she had heard. It was as if Flash's words had been a resounding bang in her mind, and the deafening silence that followed was the rest of the period, closely watched by Ned, MJ and Peter.
They understood nothing. Peter kept asking (Y/N) if she was ok, first at intervals so he wouldn't pressure her, then more and more as his worry grew. He hadn't heard what Flash had said, and if he wasn't so concerned with keeping his friend safe, he would have punched the bully in the face for what he had done.
It was as if she was in a trance, nodding or shaking her head vaguely when she was asked something, her eyes wide and staring ahead of her. It lasted so long Ned began to discuss the possibilities of Flash being capable of full body hypnosis.
"Ned, come on," MJ protested right as Peter said, "Not cool, dude." Ned's eyes widened. "No, no, I'm serious!" he said, raising his hands in surrender. Look," he added and waved a palm in front of (Y/N)'s face.
To Peter's absolute shock, the girl blinked and looked around as if she was just waking up. "(Y/N)! Are you ok? Talk to me," he said, raising his arm to put it around her and then putting it down as the voice in his head whispered, too soon. He contented himself with an arm on her shoulder, desperate for her to feel some kind of comfort, some sort of support.
"I-I was just shocked, is all," (Y/N) stammered, looking around and trying to get her bearings. "Oh, my goodness, did I miss gym?"
"Oh, it's ok! Wilson excused you," MJ explained hastily before her friend had time to worry. "So..." she looked worriedly at the others before speaking. "What did Flash say to you?"
"Oh, uh..." (Y/N) looked around nervously. Life was hard enough without her closest friends knowing something that would forever change how they saw her.
Peter took one look at her and understood. (Y/N) Stark was the opposite of an open book, and yet somehow he seemed to know her, to really understand her, without trying.
"You don't have to tell us if you don't want to," he said hurriedly, earning a grateful look from the girl. "Thanks, Peter," she replied. "I probably will at some point, it's common knowledge anyway, but..."
"You don't have to explain," he interrupted. "Whatever you're comfortable with."
A soft smile graced her face and he felt his heart do a backflip. What would she do if she found out Peter had a crush on her after one day of knowing her? Freak out, probably. Never talk to him again. He was surprised at how scared the prospect made him.
The bell interrupted his thoughts. He hurriedly followed his friends out of the gym, taking care to put as much distance between himself and Flash as possible. A suspension for punching a student wasn't top on his list of priorities.
---
The rest of the day passed slowly. Peter could have sworn the clocks weren't working properly. He was desperate for the schoolday to end so he could check on (Y/N) and walk home with her, but it seemed for every hour, a minute went by on his watch.
Meanwhile, (Y/N) was hardly paying attention. All she wanted was to go home so she could talk to Nat and Tony about what had happened. She wanted to know how she could make sure she wasn't caught off guard again, or why she was still affected by mentions of her mother.
Her vision blurred as her thoughts deepened. She only saw a smudge of the pale gray wall opposite her, and the shadow of her teacher as he crossed back and forth across the classroom. She followed it as if hypnotized, her mind already transporting her to later in the day, to her father's horrified expression and Nat's comforting hand around her shoulders as she told them everything.
She had no idea how she got through the rest of the day. She never really registered Betty and Liz running up to her and asking her why she didn't meet them in the gym, what happened with Flash, why she was hanging out with Peter and the wierdos that were always with him. She also never understood how she raised her hand when the last teacher of the day called attendance.
All she knew was that she was alone, and it would only get better when she was at home. But then, she felt a hand on her shoulder, and all she knew was Peter.
They were both standing outside on the stairs, making their way out of the school. "Hey," the boy said. "Are you ok? You almost passed the exit."
"Not surprised to hear that," (Y/N) replied, giving a shaky chuckle. "I've been out of it pretty much all day."
"You mean, since gym," Peter said knowingly. She nodded, closing her eyes. "I just... I guess I was caught off guard. My dad will know what to do. We need to get home fast so I can talk to him. And to Nat."
Peter said nothing, and (Y/N) looked up at him to make sure he had heard. He was looking at her with an odd expression on his face. "Well," he said after a while. "I'm no Quicksilver, but if speed is what you're looking for..." He smirked, and held up his bag.
The next minute found Peter with his suit on and (Y/N) Stark grabbing onto him for dear life, her face hidden in the crook of his shoulder as he swung them from building roof to building roof.
"PETER!" (Y/N) screamed as they landed on an apartment two houses from the Avengers tower. "I don't know how much experience you have, but Pietro is usually WAY smoother than this!" Peter held his hands up apologetically. "I'm really sorry, (Y/N), but this is the only way. I'm not really used to this suit and I haven't really taken anyone with me, so..."
"Ok, ok," the girl interrupted. "Just land easier next time, ok?" She grabbed hold of him again, and Peter couldn't resist smiling at how tightly she held onto him. But in the next moment, he snapped himself out of the trance and he jumped onto the next rooftop.
"We..." he gave a breathless gasp and holding his hand to make sure (Y/N) got up safely. "We're going to have to swing onto the street, Mr. Stark still has that alarm system on the roof and he'll be pretty pissed if we set it off."
(Y/N) nodded and made her way to the edge of the roof. "But..." she said. "That street is full of people." Peter looked down. "Oh crap," he whispered. "Well, I guess we'll have to wait - wait, what are you doing?" he broke off as he saw the girl raising her hands, which were glowing blue. "I have psychic powers, remember," she reminded him, and swung her arms below.
Immediately, the crowd of people in the street began sprinting to the side closest to them, hurrying to get out of there with a frenzied expression in their eyes.
"Nice," Peter gasped as the last person disappeared around the corner. "Thanks," (Y/N) replied. "Now can you please try not to bash my head on a sidewalk?"
"Yeah, sure," he replied, smiling, and hooked his arm around her waist. "Hold on, I've got you, ok?"
"Just don't let me go, Parker," she whispered, finding her face inches from his again. She hoped she was the only one who heard a double meaning in her words. "I'm not going to let you go, (Y/N) Stark," Peter whispered back.
And with that, he aimed his web shooter, shot, and jumped, holding (Y/N) firmly in his arms.
When they entered the living room of the Avengers compound, Tony, Nat and Sam were sitting in armchairs watching a video of Cap saving a girl from a burning ruin.
"She'll be in love with him forever after that," Sam was saying, pointing to the woman's face. "Look at that, look how she's looking at him."
"And how do you know he's not currently crushing on her?" (Y/N) asked, earning the startled expressions of her dad, aunt and uncle. "Hey, sweetheart!" Tony exclaimed and got up to kiss her. "Hi, kid," he said, looking over his daughter's head at Peter. He gave a half wave back and sat beside Sam, his eyes on (Y/N). She was already looking at her dad, her eyes asking him to listen to her.
"Is everything ok, honey?" Tony asked, immediately understanding. "Can I talk to you, and to Nat, please? Alone?" she asked in reply. Tony and Nat exchanged apprehensive glances and hurriedly followed the girl upstairs.
Sam frowned at Peter. "Did something happen?" Peter looked at him, debating how to answer without betraying (Y/N)'s confidence.
"Um, I think you should maybe ask her that."
Sam's eyes widened. "It was about Laura, wasn't it?" Peter frowned. "I don't know. And who is Laura?" Sam looked as if he would very much like to take back his last words, but all he said was, "I think you should maybe ask her that."
After a moment, he added, "Don't worry. She'll feel better after she talks with Stark and Romanoff. Especially if it's about... what I think it is."
Sam was right, although it did take a time for them to get to the whole matter of making the girl feel better.
"That kid did what?" Tony shouted, his eyes wide as he stared at his daughter. "Tony, why don't we calm down," Nat suggested gently, her arms around her niece. "I should get that bully expelled. He knows how hard Laura's disappearance hit our family, it was in the freaking news, why would he bring it up?"
"Tony," Nat said dangerously, but the man was beyond warning. "That kind of thing should be against the rules. It is against the rules, right? Jarvis, pull up a copy of the full rulebook of Midtown High Sch-"
"Tony!" Nat shouted, not stepping away from (Y/N). "Why don't you stop ranting and listen to your daughter." Tony looked at the girl, and immediately stopped raging and sat down at her desk. "I'm sorry you had to go through that, sweetheart," he said. "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine now," (Y/N) said. "But in gym... he caught me by surprise, I was basically in shock all day."
"Do you miss her?" Nat asked. (Y/N) considered for a moment. "I wish she were here, that I knew what it was like to have a mother. If that's missing her, then yes. I do." Tony gave a sigh and a sympathetic smile.
"We all miss her," he said. "It's not fair that you had such little time with your mother, and we spent practically half our lives with her."
"She was such an amazing person," Nat said. "Somehow, I still don't want to believe that what happened, actually happened."
(Y/N) stood up. "I want you to tell me about her, dad. And you, Nat. All of the Avengers, you all knew her. Today."
"Bucky and Wanda get home tonight," Nat said suggestively. "Sounds good," (Y/N) said. "And now there's... something I have to do. See you later?"
"(Y/N)?"
The girl turned around to Nat. "Yes?"
"Are you sure you're ok?"
"Yes," (Y/N) said, smiling. "I'm ok. Really, don't worry about me."
Nat's worried expression turned into a grin. "That smile is going to mean everything to somebody one day, beautiful girl," she said. Warmth filled the young girl's face and she turned away, her cheeks glowing red.
With any luck, it already did.
She made her way to the roof where she and Parker had talked on the night before school.
As she always did, she let herself drift away into the beauty of the view of Queens. The sky had grown gray and cloudy, the cool sky rippling into her face and blowing the hair from her eyes.
She was a Stark, and that came with a boatload of emotional baggage. Something always seemed to happen to her. But she had the right people to help her. Wanda, Pietro, Nat, her dad, not to mention-
"Hey, stranger."
"Peter."
(Y/N) smiled softly as the boy came up next to her.
They stayed silent for a few moments, staring into the distance, before the girl spoke.
"Laura Stark was my mother," she said. "She disappeared when I was two, but my dad makes sure people still talk about her. He wants to make sure nobody forgets her."
Peter showed no signs of surprise. He didn't want to. He wanted her to talk to him, and to feel safe when she did. He just said, "And you?"
There was a short silence. "I guess I wish I knew her. I don't feel her absence, except in my dad's face when he talks about her, or Cap's eyes when somebody says her name. But since... since there's no way she's coming back, then - then I just wish people would stop talking about her. Not my family, but... at least outside people who just know her from the news. That's why I didn't tell MJ and Ned. I don't need two more people looking at me as if I might break at any moment."
"I get it," Peter replied. "I mean, I don't actually get it, since something like that has never happened to me, but I do... kind of... get-"
His sentence was left hanging in the rain-foreseeing air as (Y/N) slammed her lips on his. She just couldn't take it anymore. She needed to kiss that boy if she wanted to take her next breath. She hardly knew him, hardly understood his past or his future, but in the present, she knew she wanted him.
She pulled away, suddenly horrified. "I'm so sorry, Peter. I'm really sorry, I know we haven't known each other for that long, I just..."
Peter held up his hand. Joy was running through him, flowing through his veins. It was taking everything in him not to return her gesture with every ounce of energy he had. "(Y/N)," he said, his voice shaking with the effort of keeping it steady. "If you don't come here and kiss me right now, I'm going to do it myself."

Whumptober 2023 Day 9: Polaroid
Ro
Peter and I clean out my room together after Dad becomes a little too frustrated with my mess. After telling Peter about my overwhelming task, he offered to come over and help. I gladly accepted.
“Shoebox under the bed? Looks like a pretty good place for secrets.” He teases, opening the box.
“Quit it.” I reply, grabbing the box from him. “I don’t even know what’s in here.”
He takes a photo out of it. “Whoa, that looks so much like you. Is that…you?”
Peter points to the baby in the photo and I take a closer look. “Yeah…Yeah, that’s…me and my mom.”
His eyes widen slightly. “You never talk about your mom. What’s she like? If…if you don’t mind me asking.”
I slowly nod. “She was…God, she was a beautiful person. Her name was Ivy. She’s the one who raised me until…until she was killed. When I was nine. And that’s when I met my dad. It’s kind of…a long story. But she’s gone now.”
Peter frowns. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bring up bad memories.”
“It’s okay,” I tell him. “You didn’t know. And honestly…if I stop talking about her, I’m afraid I’ll forget about her. But if I start talking, I might not stop.”
He gives me a sympathetic look, hand moving towards mine as if to ask permission to hold it. I allow him to do so, Peter squeezing my hand gently. “Ro…you can talk to me about anything. You know that, yeah?”
I nod. “Yeah, I know. I just…I don’t want to scare you away.”
“You could never do that. There’s nothing I won’t understand.” He says. “I’m an orphan, Ro. I get what it’s like to lose that. At least a little. I was young, but I do miss them.”
“Is it too hard for you to talk about my mom because of that? I guess I’m pretty lucky to have my dad.” I reply softly.
I sit down on my bed and he sits beside me, still holding the Polaroid picture in his hand. “Tell me about her. Anything you wanna say.”
I take a deep breath. “She was amazing, Peter. I…I wish she was here. If she still was, I’d probably be in the middle of nowhere where I grew up. My mom and her parents before her…they had to go on the run from HYDRA. It’s a long story. Then my mom met my dad and…she gave birth alone. My grandparents both got killed before I was born. And my mom never told my dad I existed. She was terrified. But then…HYDRA caught up with her. And she was killed. In front of me. She was shot and…”
Closing my eyes and letting some tears fall, I feel Peter rub my back. “It’s okay. Take your time.”
“She was shot and I ran. She gave me a letter right before she died…with my dad’s address on it. And that Polaroid was inside.  And the rest is history. If I was stronger, maybe she’d still be here. I couldn’t s-save her.” I explain.
Leaning onto Peter’s shoulder, I apologize for my tears. “I’m sorry. Thank you for being here. That really means the world to me. Can I ask…what happened to your parents?”
“Plane crash.” He says. “Nothing anyone could do about it. I was six. I…I understand your fear of forgetting. It’s been ten years and I…I don’t remember their voices. That’s when Aunt May lost her sister and had to take in her nephew all at the same time. She’s been through a lot just to give me a home.”
I slowly nod. “I’m sorry, Peter. I know Aunt May must be glad that she’s been able to give you a place to live. And after losing her sister, I’m sure you were a comfort.”
Peter wraps his arm around me. “For the record…you were nine. You couldn’t have saved your mom. That’s not your fault.”
“Thanks…I just wish you could have known her. That my dad could remember more about her. He met her and they…well, made me. And then he never saw her again.” I explain. “I miss her so much.”
“You look a lot like her. Same eyes.” He comments.
I grin sadly. “Thanks. It’s hard for me to feel connected to her anymore, so…it’s good to hear I have a piece of her forever.”
There’s a knock at my bedroom door. “On a scale from one to ten, how clean is your room right now?” Dad asks.
I look around, seeing that our efforts were paused by me and Peter talking about the photo he found. “Umm, zero?”
He opens the door. “You invited a friend. I should’ve known you’d get distracted.”
Dad glances at the photo in Peter’s hand, playful and slightly annoyed facade dropping. “I forgot you still had that. You okay?”
I nod. “Yeah, we bonded over our shared dead parent trauma.”
He puts his hand up for a high five. “Welcome to the dead parent club, kids.”
Peter suppresses a laugh but doesn’t leave my dad hanging and high-fives him. “Uh, thanks, Mr. Stark.”
“No problem, kid,” Dad replies. “Get to cleaning or I’ll sell your gaming laptop.”
“I’ll sell your soul, old man.” I tease.
“Can’t sell something I don’t have.” He counters.
“Damn it,” I mumble.
I love the people in my life. I can’t lose them. I really, really can’t lose these two. I don’t know what I’d do without them around.
I don’t know if I’d survive.

Really disliking the current popularity of killing off main male characters at the end of their series or book (usually dying fairly young) and unable to watch their unborn or small child grow up. This going along with the current trend that main characters should be killed off at the end to give a finite end to their story (as of their life). Like, it is one thing to kill parents for backstory or whatever but constantly, I’m seeing these main male characters that we know and we love and we have seen grow and want to get their happy ending and then they just…die in the end. I get that these deaths are often (almost always) sacrificial with meaning or whatever but that doesn’t mean I want it in everything. I can literally think of at least three examples absolutely immediately off the top of my head. I fear that this trend is people saying something about the role of fathers. And I don’t like. I’m sick of these “realistic” and “dark/gritty” stuff in fiction and fantasy. I am absolutely good with happy endings. I want the happy endings. We see enough sadness and tragedy in real life. Let the fiction kids of fictional main characters of books and series and movies grow up with their parents.

summary:
Tony is tired of hearing her daughter talk about her crush, and Peter talk about his. So he sets them up for confrontation and decides to have a little fun with it...
Tumblr media
you stepped inside the most spacious classroom of Midtown High, and the familiar scents of chemicals immediately invaded your smell. The chemistry class was soon filled with people taking their seats at their tables and putting on their candid white lab coats and protective goggles. Your usual desk mates were absent on that day due to the intensive sport training they were undergoing; soon they'd have a really important match and the school couldn't risk loosing (again), so they were excused from classes that day.
It was no big deal, but it was an absolute tragedy for you: who will you blather about your crush to? Who will listen as you make up romantic - most definitely unrealistic - scenarios, and encourage your imagination? How can you go a whole day without hearing their encouraging words on how you should just go up to Peter's desk and say-
"Hi, is this seat taken?" The familiar voice shakes you out of your thoughts. Your eyes widen as the sight of THE Peter Parker.
The boy wasn't popular in the slightest, but you had the chance to admire him in his natural habitat, the chemistry and maths classrooms, (or so you thought) and he was the smartest person in MILES. The rare few times you had the chance - or the excuse - to talk to him, he had been the most caring, generous and kindest person you ever had the chance to meet.
"Of course not." You smiled, making him smile, too. You blushed at the thought of always being the one to make him smile like that. Better yet, at the thought of him making you smile like an absolute fool everyday.
"y/n, right?" Peter asked while fixing his bag next to him and sitting down on the stool.
From there on the chitchat never ended. You both did stay silent: he was rather invested in the experiment, and you were rather invested in watching him focus. Chemistry came pretty naturally to you - just like every other scientifical and technology-related subject - which gave you more time to dream of the moment that had finally come.
You guys discovered that you had so much in common: interests, friendships, hobbies...heroes. You both loved Spiderman, for instance, and you both really looked up to Ironman and Captain America. You both liked Star Wars and Delmar's sandwiches, and you both knew MJ.
After class was over, the two of you agreed to sit next to each other the following time as well: your friends had been telling you to talk to him for ages, they won't mind at all if you actually did and stopped distracting him from their assignments in class. Even though, underneath, you knew they enjoyed it just as much as you did.
The weeks went by and you couldn't help but like him more and more, falling deeper and deeper for the boy. He seemed quite involved, too: every time your hands brushed against each other, or you made him laugh, or even just held eye contact for more than one second, it just made your heartbeat run a marathon. And that wasn't like you at all, but you weren't sure you liked it much. That little voice in your head just kept telling you that it might all just be your imagination going a bit too far; basically just gaslighting yourself.
Six months later you guys had become absolute best friends. You walked back home together after school, worked on projects, had your own inside jokes; you had even met his aunt May!
"Hey y/n?" Peter broke the silence while he was laying on a park bench, his curls on your laps.
"Yeah?"
"Do you- would you ever-" he started stuttering as he usually did when he was going to say something important for him. It always made you giggle, you found it cute.
"C'mon Pete, you can tell me anything, you know that."
"I know" he whispered before sitting back straight up. He took a deep breath before finally saying what he wanted to "Do you- like pillowcases?"
You looked at him, puzzled and surprised by the question. "Do I- like pillowcases?" You let out a laugh, trying to hide the disappointment in what you thought he'd have said. "I guess I do. Do you?"
"Yea. I do, I really do."
"That's- cool, I didn't know that about you" You chuckled, as he let out more of a nervous laugh. "I guess we should get going now". You smiled, gathering your things.
After Peter dropped you off where you "lived", you waited til he was out of sight before getting into the most famous building in the State: your actual home.
"I CANNOT BELIEVE HIM!" You shouted as you angrily climbed the stairs and walked into the kitchen, reaching straight for the fridge and opening it. "I seriously cannot believe that boy!"
"What did he do today sweetheart?" you father asked, not getting his eyes off of the newspaper he was reading.
"He almost asked me out!"
"And the problem with that is..."
"THAT HE ALMOST ASKED ME OUT!"
"Oh, obviously" He mocked you as he folded his newspaper. "Honey, have you ever thought of asking him out yourself?"
"Of course not. I mean, what if he says no?"
"You've never had this problem with any other boy before, and you're having this kind of doubts now that I actually like one of your picks?"
"Yes, because I also actually like this one!"
"Pepper, I don't need the blood test anymore, she's definitely a Stark!"
"I thought we had agreed on that when she fixed the- technology thing you couldn't deal with when she was 5." Your mother shouted from the other room.
"Okay, ouch." Tony replied.
"To be fair, you did deserve that." You chuckled. "Anyways, I'm starting to think it was just all in my head. Maybe that's just how he is with everyone, I'm nothing special. I guess I love for the both of us. I mean, how could I be enough for someone like him? He's the sweetest, kindest, most generous and caring person on this planet. And me? Well, I'm just really smart. And I'm amazing for everyone else, of course, but him? He deserves more than I'll ever be able to give." You concluded looking at the ground as you let your head fall into your arms. You were forced to raise your gaze when you heard a sudden loud noise. Something had fallen and broken, like a plate or a mug.
Looking up you saw the only thing you needed but last thing you wanted to see in that moment.
"You better clean that up kid. Oh and, y/n? Peter's here, by the way. Which is a really good thing because now you can both stop using me as your shrink and actually talk to each other." Tony looked at you with the most amused smirk as he was on his way to leave the room.
Your face had reached the cherry red color of the ceramic bowl that was scattered all around on the floor.
"Are you- did you actually mean all that?" An incredulously open-mouthed Peter asked.
"What are you even doing here?!" You inquired, confused and embarrassed.
"That's not important right now. Did you mean that?"
"Haven't I proven it to you?"
"I- I feel awful about making you doubt how much I love you." He said sincerely, while walking towards you.
"You- love me?"
"More than I thought I could." He leaned in slowly, following your every move until your lips fused into the most beautiful feeling you had ever felt. When the kiss was broken he held you in his arms for a few minutes, you both contemplating how the moment felt as magical as you had imagined it. Peter broke the silence with a sudden realization.
"Wait- you are PEPPER POTTS AND TONY STARK'S DAUGHTER?"
"Yeah..." You laughed nervously.
"Why have you never said anything?"
"I don't really go around advertising it. You know the bad guys and stuff can-" As you were explaining, you accidentally hurt a mug. Luckily, before it could touch the ground it was promptly saved: Peter was holding in his right hand the purple thing.
"you are SPIDERMAN?! MY BOYFRIEND IS SPIDERMAN?"
"Mh, boyfriend." He chuckled before hugging you again. "I like the sound of that."
