Having an oc that uses they/them pronouns when my first language isn't English really makes it challenging to write fanfiction. I always worry that sentences may get confusing when there's more than one person in the scene. As in, are they the character, doing something, or are they, as in two or more people, doing the action?

It's so much easier in Spanish and quite honestly I keep switching to "she/her" in the narration without noticing (yes I am a bad, baaaad enby) So at this point, I'm wondering if it would be best to just write it in the second person, à la Disco Elysium or something. But I'm not too fond of the second person point of view, you see...

I have decided to re-read the entire series of The Queen's Thief and I was not emotionally ready.

In the last 3 days while at work I have read The Thief, Destruction, and just finished The Queen of Attolia.

My little autistic brain is pissed about how aphmau can attack a whole ass lord is Skystead and it be fine because she Irene. It’s fine because she got possessed by Irene and since it was divine intervention(if you could even call it that) it’s all good. Everything that aphmau does is fine because she’s Irene and is a god.

But Laurence is seen as an absolute villain for losing control and commuting mass genocide because he was about to get executed along with Katelyn. Plus aphmau was being forced into an unwanted marriage, and he needs to protect her/he loves her. Either way you see it, it doesn’t matter to me we all see it. He lost control himself and didn’t stop until an outside force(aphmau) stopped him.

Aphmau may not have had a choice as to when she got possessed by Irene but Laurence at the very least didn’t decide to continue to stay in shadow knight form, he may have gone into it initially because it was the only solution he could think of in that moment. They both had very similar scenarios, because Jesson had to write another arranged marriage arc because i guess that’s cool. But two very different reactions to said scenarios by other people. My autistic ass is upset about it not being fair.

Ohhhh boy a Vylad rewrite post, huh?

Vylad is honestly the character I have struggled the most with when conceptualizing when coming up with ideas for this rewrite. In my brain the main timeline MCD Vylad is aro/ace, so I never think about him in the kinds of situations characters are going to end up in.

I think for the sake of this rewrite Vylad is definitely demi both romantic, sexual, and gender. What demi gender? Good question!

Vylad needs an emotional connection with someone in order to feel attraction to them, but forming an emotional bond with Vylad is pretty difficult. In the entirety of this rewrite I think three people end up getting this, and those people are Agnes, Laurance, and Zenix but in a bad way. And two of those people end up dating his brother, and the other one goes a little insane. So Vylad is just not doing great in the dating pool.

Luckily Vylad is a lot more open to talking to people in this rewrite. Once the 15 year gap has passed, they've spent so long without anyone to really talk to that Vylad is a lot more open to communication. Agnes especially gets on his case for this, forcing Vylad to interact with people more because she will not have her baby brother that's older than her and not even her brother be so stand offish.

All my musician head canons I talked about in this post and it's follow up on my main are all canon to this story. Vylad doesn't do conversations the best, but he is able to become total besties with Aaron and Travis around the fire and kind of third wheels as Aaron and Travis are having their homosexual tension, but they don't mind that much. Vylad has always loved just observing people as they exist and do their stupid human shit, watching two dumb dorks fall in love while looking longingly at one another's hands on an instrument is Vylad's soap opera.

If popcorn existed in Ru'aun, Vylad would be addicted to it. I don't know why but this is a headcanon I will fight to the death about now, MCD Vylad would absolutely adore popcorn.

Just thought about MCD Vylad in a dress. Not something too showy, a dress that fully covers their body and is like a dark green maybe, definitely a custom order from Cadenza but one that she is happy to fill. Wait do Vylad and Cadenza even talk in the entirety of mcd?? Well they do in this rewrite because Vylad is way too shy to ask someone else to do it for them. But Cadenza is completely chill about the whole ordeal, asks the standard amount of questions, and when she's getting measurements she checks in with Vylad constantly to make sure he isn't uncomfortable.

And when Cadenza finishes it she just drops it off at Vylad's house. Vylad has a dress now :)

I think Vylad and Cadenza would have a great friendship. She's just so fucking chill despite being wound up as a lord. Vylad may not get it in the sense of being a lord, but he grew up with Garroth as an older brother and literally helped guide Agnes on the path to being a lord, so he understands it's trials and tribulations very well. I want to write a scene of these two getting high and just talking about literally whatever, maybe they make fun of Laurance, or Vylad opens up about what it feels like to be a Shadow Knight because Cadenza has a Shadow Knight as a guard and one as a brother, she fuckin gets it.

I-Is this a new rarepair? I mean, if I take it down that route we do have to acknowledge that Vylad is lowkey rebounding from Laurance to Laurance's sister which... I mean, given Vylad's track record with romance, that completely tracks. Gods even when I let him feel romantic and sexual things they're so bad at it!

Uhh, anyways, I think Vylad's favorite color is a pale green. The color of his mothers eyes because Vylad is such a mama's boy oh my Irene I will never shut up about this! I always headcanon that his scarf was made by his mom, and that's part of why Vylad is so attached to it.

Just had the thought of Vylad and Agnes singing a duet together :)

Vylad is still really shy about their singing voice and panics at the thought of singing in front of others, but they feel calm enough around Agnes that he doesn't mind if it's just the two of them. Don't know what they'd sing. Maybe Wolves of the Revolution as a trio with Garroth. Oh that's eating my brain alive right now.

I think as a teenager Vylad was really unsupervised, so they spent a lot of time just figuring out how to sneak around their estate. He made new secret passages just because he wanted to fuck with Garroth and Zane. I think Vylad was a total prankster, but both of his brothers got sick of it pretty quickly, and their reactions weren't funny anymore.

Give Vylad more chaotic energy when the alliance island is built and operational. Nothing malicious, but sometimes Vylad will just climb in through your window, grab an apple off the counter, give you a wave and then dip out. I want Vylad to disappear for like two and a half months, come back with no explanation and then hand Agnes some ancient artifact that he "just found while exploring." Vylad is the king of not elaborating. He loves hearing people's guesses, but never confirms or denies how accurate they are.

Garroth's guesses are always the closest to being accurate, but he still doesn't entirely understand the person his brother has become. I think Vylad being older than Garroth would be really weird for both of them. Like in Garroth's brain Vylad is younger little small baby brother, but Vylad is a smart ass who always has to correct him and remind Garroth that they're technically older than he is. This is thanks to both Nether time dilation, and Irene Dimension time dilation! The divine really just like fucking with time.

I think I want an entire episode of just Vylad and Hyria talking over tea. I always imagined Hyria being akin to a mother to Vylad as both of them sort of leaned on one another and used each other to cope with the losses in their lives. And Vylad still makes visits every now and then to the enchanted forest to visit Hyria and have a chat with her. I think it'd be neat.

Even funnier if Lucinda shows up to ask Hyria about a witchcraft thing and she just stares at Vylad like "When did you become friends with my mom?" "Before I met you."

One time while Vylad and Travis were practicing a song alone Vylad set down his ocarina, looked Travis in the eye and said "I've explored the entirety of Gal'ruk. No one will ever believe you." The only person who does is Laurance, but he still makes fun of Travis.

Vylad is just a chaotic confusing freak!! I love him!!!

It's that time of the year again folks, welcome back to another @khoc-week!!

I love having an excuse to ramble about my OCs and their character development exploits once a year because at any other time I keep it in my brain vault until I die, so it is always a pleasure to participate in this fun event!!

This year I was originally planning on focusing on two of my characters who needed some love, however in light of it being my main KH OC's 10th year of existing plus the return to some OG prompts, I just had to do a triple threat!

May Kingdom Hearts have mercy upon my soul-

Anyway, without further ado~

Day 1 - Introductions

My offerings this year are Irene, Iris, and Iliana! The Triple I, you know they're all bonded when they have a signifigant motif.

Lets get into their lil' noggins, shall we?

Iris:

Iris is an ex-member of the Ursus Union, and is a total busybody. Knows no rest. Vacation time? Who is she? All she knows is collect Lux and badger teammates.

Perhaps this is bad for such a young teenager, but alas it's what fate intended-

She came to Daybreak Town with an older sister, one she hardly remembers and never sees, but she could recognise if given the right moment. The most she recognizes her by is a motif for brightly colored birds... Unless she's mixing that up with her final moments?

She is known for being detail oriented and very meticulous with her work as a wielder, and comes off as bossy about it when it doesn't go her way. She's never had a stable team because of this, at least until she met Alto.

Alto is her best friend, and I had the joy of talking about him for last year's event! He brought a necessary fun loving and relaxing counterbalance that wouldn't make her have a grudge against her role for years to come, and that is something she holds close to her heart

The two of them were inseperable until tragic events took place in an eerie back alley with a mysterious Foreteller, and she got yeeted through time and space to the future, where she ended up missing a good portion of events that would eventually lead to even more tragedy.

This is where she is taken in by...

Irene:

Irene is a member of the Radiant Garden Royal Guard, and is well loved by castle staff and townsfolk alike!

She's best known for her kind heart and motherly nature, as well as her skills in baking and field medicine!

She works alongside her older brother, Elijah, who tends to watch over her despite the fact she can handle herself.

She's the eldest of the Heart Hotel residents, being the only middle aged woman (not counting Igni, but we don't talk about her anyway-) to reside in there!

Before she was assimilated to the collective, she had taken in Iris's heart by complete accident.

In all honesty, when the two first spoke she had thought she was overworked, but over time realized it was all real!! A voice in her head with barely any grasp of her own memories, how unique!

She had to keep it a secret, however, because over time it seemed someone caught on and took interest...

When Ansem the Wise's very... intriguing new apprentice came into town, things seemed dire for the two of them, and it was only a matter of time before Irene too was met with a terrible fate.

Irene with Iris retreated elsewhere, safely to a heart they knew they could trust: the heart of a young girl that visited Radiant Garden frequently with her grandmother...

Iliana:

When I first ever introduced her to the internet (and to the first ever KHOC Week), she was known as Izaberu, but since then she received an overhaul unlike any other!

Golly, I haven't brought her back to this event in a while ([checks watch] since 2019 actually-), so this will be a ride!

Currently at the start of her very long journey (KH2 era), she is (reluctantly) a Keyblade wielder hopping between worlds in her reliable Gummi ship steed, the Firestorm, while also babysitting at least two young boys and two farm animals (affectionate).

She's 18 around this time, but seems like a well seasoned veteran in comparison to those who had already been involved in this mess far longer. Must be the trauma.

She's very laid-back, sarcastic, riddled with sleepygirl (and Igni) disease, and harboring a lot of internal self doubt, guilt and rage, which I proudly say she does get to work on throughout her journey! Not with a, uh, therapist, unfortunately.

She's very goofy and awkward, yet somehow very good at taking the lead when you least expect, which makes her a valuable member to the team later on. She's a nuisance, but a useful nuisance.

Iliana started her life as a noble in the Hills of Progress, a world you could say was if Scala ad Caelum and the Land of Departure had a lovechild that turned out evil. Awful place. Beautiful scenery though!

She lived a very uncomfortable life, both as a descendant and vessel of Igni, the latter being something she had no choice to be forced into, and on top of learning to be a Keyblade wielder she was constantly under a spotlight. Not to mention, uh, having parental issues AND being parentified very young. Yeah, that might explain some things-

The only good things she got out of it was an adorable little brother, some wonderful friends, and a grandmother who took her all sorts of places, most frequently Radiant Garden.

She was 8 when she first met Irene and Iris, and from there seemed to deviate from the norms she was expected of, which typically means bad news where she's from especially as a Guardian (ie. the world's official title of a vessel of Igni, it's definitely not fun!)

Though, things seemed to be normal for a while, of course we can't avoid the domino effect of tragic loss.

It was her grandmother first, followed up by her closest friend's murder a few years later, then shortly after she decided to pack up her brother and leave... the world would fall to darkness... or at least that's what it seemed like, but we can talk more on that later.

She fleed alone to Traverse Town, where she stayed with her uncle and met another colorful cast of characters, a place she considered home for about a year.

Ironically, she did meet Sora during his first adventure, but that was something she forgot just like everyone else. RIP-

After a while, she felt discontented and riddled with survivor's guilt, so she set out to rescue her world against her uncle's advice, something that would now place the final nail in her, albeit very loosely built, coffin.

She was confronted by a Heartless in the depths of space that she was not prepared to face, and it pursued her to an unfamiliar world where it finally finished the job...

Little did it know was that together the memories of these three ladies (and Igni, unfortunately) created Reixen (who I also talked about!! In 2020 I think! Funny how it all comes together-), who indirectly kept them alive, while outside forces who became interested in Iliana's wreckage sought to restore her back to her truest form.

Which brings us back around to where they're at!

After the incident, Iris and Irene are dormant throughout her journey, so Iliana ends up relying on the companionship of Alto, who had also mysteriously popped up out of the blue, to keep her on track towards whatever it is that weird wizard told her to do. Yen Sid's words always go over her head-

Together along with Sora, Donald, and Goofy they save the worlds from Organization XIII while also working to restore the two (technically three) dormant souls back to their true forms... or at least wake them up first, but that will take a while (until the Mark of Mastery, which is an absolute treat in of itself, if I had a place to put the info this week oh boy-).

Aaaaaand that about does it for Day 1!

I'm making my posts meaty this year because it's truly blorbo hours and I'm celebrating what I have so far! Get ready for a lot of reading, for I will ramble my way into the sun.
