Sit with me by the fireplace, kiddos as I spin a yarn... it was a blustery day in early November when I received the most auspicious ask in my inbox from Swynlake’s talented and visionary Zero (@zerohallows), who wanted to bring a less Christmassy and Santified line of holiday merch to us all. I grew up learning that

Grief is love with nowhere to go.

I've spied with my little tired eyes

How all those who suffer

Suffer only because they loved.

When I'm looking into your eyes,

I understand how much the heart can carry:

my grief, your grief, 

a heart can even carry another heart.

Like you carry mine.

Can you please hold it a little more gently?

It's made of brittle glass. Transparent. Fragile.

If you see closely, you'll notice some cracks in it as well.

When i try not peel my own skin off

To distract myself from the heaviness

Of the awkward silences between us

I realise how full of emotions, complaints, wants and needs i am,

Yet i don't utter a single word 

in front of you.

When i write about you,

I realise this might be a love poem.

not only because it has your mention in it

but because of the fear of this not lasting forever.

In my family, all those who suffer from a dead love 

tell me it will all turn to darkness,

One day the magic in your lover's eyes

Just won't be there.

but when i look at you, youre the sun 

yet i want to hold you. 

I don't care if i turn to ashes.

i hope i am your light too like you're mine. 

i hope this is a love poem 

only because there's so much hope in it.
