Reproduction: They breed year round, with gestation periods of about 60 days, and laying around 5 to 10 eggs at a time.
Diet: Detritivores, meaning they feed on dead organic material, like rotting plants, leaves, and vegetables.
Habitat: They inhabit limestone caves in Thailand
Status: They are a rare species but not yet classified as an endangered status due to them being a relatively new scientific discovery.
Summary: Rubber Ducky Isopods are a relatively new species of isopod that, like their name implies, look like rubber ducks from the front. This species is so new that it and it’s subspecies remain scientifically unnamed. These isopods are unique not just because of their rarity but also because they’re a cave dwelling species, often found in the limestone caves of Thailand. This species, while freshly discovered, has taken hobbyists by storm. People who breed and care for isopods consider this new little insect a hot commodity, with prices for a cup of five isopods reaching easily in the hundreds of dollars.
I know isopods technically aren’t real insects and technically are crustaceans. I didn’t know what category to put these guys in.
"Remove something...?"
There are some things he's never been able to fix. His powerlessness, technically, isn't fixed. And he did hate his 'monstrous' features at first, and at some point in the past tried to undo his own work... but, nothing. You'd think 'working backwards' would be work enough, but it turns out it's a lot more complicated than that.
"You'll have to elaborate. There's some things I can't exactly 'fix,' for a lack of better words. If you want less limbs or features, I'm not confident I can do that. I can change arms to flippers, though, or fuse your legs into a lizard's tail. Or I can add features." Don't have enough spider limbs? He can add ten more if Pokey wants! The possibilities are almost endless.
I’ve had bites from something for over 2 weeks now and it’s driving me fucking mad. It seems likely to be gnats/midges based on type of bite, and I don’t usually get targeted for bites but this just…isn’t going away. I’ve used anthisan and plasters when it’s really bad, then they stop and then the next day they start again. I may have to go to the pharmacy tomorrow.
But like yaboi straight up went to bed a few days ago and woke up with the mosquitoes calling him Gay. Wtf is this? Like one: Slay. And two??? I'm not even gay??? I'm pan??!!
That or they called me 'Cay' but i choose to believe they can't spell because I have no clue what a Cay is.
Like come on, man. My arms itch like hell ;-;
(traced version for clarity)
Also please ignore the hangman's crease in my neck on god idk why i have an inverse Adam's apple but it dismays me
I accidentally stepped on a wasp today (its okay, I watched it fly away) but now it hurts to walk and also it left its sti her in my foot. So, while already in pain, I had to mess with it more and remove the stinger and to top it off, use the antiseptics.
idk if i spoke about my silkworms before on here... anyway i used to raise silkworms from when i was 10 till i was 14. i would feed them vine leaves and observe their metamorphosis then release the moths and get another batch :) i’d keep like 4-5 at a time. i loved to watch them and bring them to school with me in a shoe box lmao
A beautiful friend!!! And also a foe. I found this fucker biting me (very gently, but still). And yes, I did wash the bite with alcohol as soon as I got a chance.
nasu's weird for when hearing umino's traumatic experience about seeing an elephant's corpse and then telling her "yeah draw that" for the insect of the abyss
Reproduction: Adults live for a single breeding season, producing around 30 eggs laid in rotting wood and soil. They stay in a larvae stage for up to 14 months, becoming adults just long enough to reproduce and then die shortly afterwards.
Diet: Rotting wood
Habitat: They are found throughout Asia, from India in the South to Indonesia in the Southeast, preferring forests near sandbanks.
Status: Conservation efforts are varied across the stag beetle subspecies and their locale but what I could find is in Thailand, they are a protected species with restrictions on exportation.
Summary: The giraffe stag beetle is the largest in their family, with long powerful jaws that make up half their body’s entire length. They tend to be aggressive and fierce, with a bite due to it’s powerful jaws. Males often use these long jaws to get in fights, and throw each other away from their potential mate.
went for a walk in a wood known for butterflies, instead found the whole place full of red wood ants! they were so big and beautiful, i followed a trail and found a huge nest! there were multiple of these so it's probably a very old colony
EMOTIONALLY STUNTED... ( @riselazarus / todd , jason ) “ how much insect essence do you think are in every square inch of chocolate? like just how many cockroach guts have i consumed with my hershey’s? ”
nico pauses midbite of his chocolate bar and looks between the candy and jason in horror. with his free hand , he reaches for his phone , and after a few minutes of intense googling and widening eyes , he tucks the device away and finishes the chocolate with a scowl on his face. “ well i probably had somewhere around twenty-five insect parts , ” nico says bitterly. “ what the fuck is wrong with you ? what’s wrong with the fda ?! ” he stares at the wrapper mournfully and adds , “ you know , back in my day , these were like ten cents. i like the taste better now , insect parts or not. ”
