“The gods are not special in our creation, little one. We are born, we must learn, we must grow, and we must die as all things across the worlds. We are all forged of that same stardust, and so none is above the other. The smallest creature in its poorest state is still made of the stuff of gods, and so we all go to the same place in death.”
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Even from there miles from the river, their voices rung out in a mismatched symphony of sorrows. Some sorrowed over leaving loved ones behind, others over time misspent back in their worlds.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
“The soul remembers, but the mind does not. In her heart, she will know you. Somewhere buried there, you will always be her little bird, even when her mind does not realize it, and somewhere within your own soul she will always be your mother.”
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Morrigan tore her gaze from the river to the bundle of blankets cocooned in the middle of the spacious bed, eyes more green than silver peering back from beneath them. Little stars spilled over the dawn kissed ocean…
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
She’d hoped, knowing better, that they’d grow out of their need for emotions. Hoped that the small child would realize their futility before their hurt had a chance to rear its head and make them remember.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
“We can. The occasion does not rise often, but we can. Everything that has been given life must one day lose it, little one, even the gods.”
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Morrigan shook her head at the curious glimmer in the child’s eyes. Unhappy things didn’t make for very good bedtime stories she’d been told. Her arm found itself around Syanna, pulling the small child closer for the goddess to rest their heads together. A low song rumbled through the silence around them, one she’d heard a mother sing centuries ago in the hopes it’d reach her child wherever they’d gone. Sung to a child that had grown up scared and bitter and alone, now calling for her mother’s head.

“Such is the nature of souls.” Morrigan brought her hand up to the space between the child’s little nub horns, hesitating before gently patting her on the head. “The soul remembers, but the mind does not. In her heart, she will know you. Somewhere buried there, you will always be her little bird, even when her mind does not realize it, and somewhere within your own soul she will always be your mother.”
“Why don’t they remember?” Syanna glanced between the goddess and river of souls, pressing her face against the window as if it’d bring them closer. Even from there miles from the river, their voices rung out in a mismatched symphony of sorrows. Some sorrowed over leaving loved ones behind, others over time misspent back in their worlds. She ignored the ones with more violent or depraved sorrows, covering her ears and shuffling back to sit on the goddess’s lap under the cover of her own wings.
“A heart is a heavy burden to bear, little one. There are too many sorrows for a single life to experience within their time above, far outmatching what fleeting happinesses they stumble across. None would be able to bear it if they remembered them all at once. As a mercy, we make them forget.”
-excerpt from Stone Heart, Thawed

Why did I actually spent my actual, God given time on this ridiculous fever dream? Unclear
IDK, something goes differently in TPM and Maul and Obiwan join forces to sabotage the Clone Wars...Good Omens-y action rom-com shenanagins ensue...Ahsoka says “I believe in peace, bitch” at some point...Padme becomes Chancellor...I want to stress that last bit...

↬ "Bulky” ↬ 948 ↬  Wattpad
Away.
Her footsteps echoed against the smothering silence of the hallways, almost matching the child’s hiccuped crying as it buried its face in the thick of her sleeve. She ambled in no particular direction, letting anger guide her steps away from the room behind them and away from that beast’s shadow of a man. Servants offered them curious looks as they passed, eyes settling at the chain tied at the child’s leg scraping along with a trail of dull sparks. They averted their eyes as they felt hers turn in their direction, swallowing any remarks at the hurt in her eyes and studying whatever object stood closest with great interest.
It was only when her feet began to ache as much as her bruised knuckles that she stopped walking, finding herself and the child amongst the dragons in their pens. A few turned their heads to look, humming soft purrs from the back of their throats as they sniffed at the elves. The child shrunk away from the dragon nearest them as it huffed at its face, gently nipping at its hair before turning to prod at Elanoriel’s wings. Seemingly satisfied with whatever it found there, it nudged them deeper into the herd with a warm, resounding chirp that settled the child’s cries to sniffles- though whether out of fascination or fear, Elanoriel could scarcely tell.
She raised her wings instinctively, winding one closer around her own person as the other moved to shelter the child from the dragons’ curious gazes. Elanoriel’s wing twitched as the child dug their small fingers into the thick of feathers hovering above them, a small chirp falling from their lips in wonder as their eyes widened at the softness. Her head turned to look fully at the small child, the silver of their eyes brimming soft with wonder bringing back long dormant memories of a song she’d heard oh too long ago.
Only when the dragons raised their heads, tilting them this way and that way, as did Elanoriel realize she’d begun singing. The song began to drift between them as a slow fog setting on a bay, bearing that loneliness that unsung songs are often weighed by. Her voice carried the weight of the world, all of its mourning and grieving barely contained in its tremble. She slowly raised her hand to the child’s back, as if not to startle a wild animal, and began rubbing gentle circles into the small of their back as she remembered her father doing.
Her song wavered as a lump raised beneath her fingertips, all the same soft and compressed, ragged as it moved up and down with the child’s breathing. The song reflected her surprise as young feathers brushed against her hand once underneath the back of the shirt, if these threads could be called so. They spilled eagerly out of the bottom in a colorful cascade as she lifted the fabric, a disarray of patchworked colors jutting out in most every direction they found. Light brown leather belts, thick as Elanoriel’s hand was wide, fastened the child’s wings down, bending and folding them into unnaturally misshapen blocks of feathers at her back.
The song slowed, words almost unrecognizable beyond a distortion of sounds as Elanoriel’s trembling hand undid first the left wing’s belt then the right’s. The child gave her a curious chirp, straining to look back at the bulk of its feathers as they unfurled to double its height. They twitched as Elanoriel’s fingertips grazed over them, the child’s face warping with such fear as to cut her deeper than any sword ever had as it froze, waiting. Elanoriel gave a soft shake of the head, “No”, resting her cheek against the child’s. It stood, unmoving and waiting, muscles tensed and braced until Elanoriel’s legs went numb from standing and the dragons moved away in disinterest. It seemed to understand no harm would come- no sharp sting of a whip or chains too small for its person, no raised voices or bruises to color its body- as it bumped its cheek back in response, curling into a small ball in Elanoriel’s arms.
Elanoriel began to weave her fingers through the mess of feathers, combing the outer layers into the general shape a wing ought to be before nitpicking at the edges. Those that were loose came off easily enough, a pile forming at her feet as she continued grooming and shaping and plucking. One of the smaller dragons sniffed at the pile, jolting back in alarm with fur standing on end as its breath caused a few to suddenly stir. It huffed, standing tall and proud as it waddled back to its mother on the small nubs it had for legs, deciding to spare such a fearsome opponent for the day. The feathers seemed to mock it as it left, those nearest to where it had scattered away wiggling after it before settling back onto the pile.
Elanoriel suppressed the shudder crawling up her spine as her fingers struck an abnormally smooth, featherless patch the width of her index finger in the dip between the child’s shoulder blades. She focused on humming, straining to push back any and all thoughts screaming in her head as a cacophony of uncoordinated emotions surged forward all at once, a singular word desperately trying to drown out the rest: safe. The small child gave her a curious expression, intelligent silver eyes appearing to make out what she so ardently tried to swallow as it leaned its face to gently poke Elanoriel's cheek with its little nose. She smiled, perhaps genuinely for the first time in a while, pressing a soft kiss to the child's head.
Safe.
