#what I'm reading #gun violence #school shootings #in hindsight it was maybe a mistake to read this while I'm still reeling from the aftereffects of a mass shooting #but I'm glad that I did and I would recommend this book to everyone--it is harrowing but incredibly informative and well-researched #I consider myself fairly well-informed about gun violence and I write about it at my own job but I think the main takeaway this book #impressed on me that I hadn't fully understood before is just how devastating the impacts of shootings can be on children who weren't #injured or didn't directly witness the attack and that includes the psychological consequences of lockdowns #and when you factor out how many kids are affected by that...that's a grim figure
