Fanfic Idea! (ABO Lucemond, modern-ish, where Lucerys deals with one problem after another)
Lucerys knows he had made a mistake, choosing to be mates with Alyn. Everyone in his family, even Alyn's full brother Addam, asked him to choose someone else, anyone else. And Lucerys was adamant, choosing Alyn. To be fair to him, he wasn't really in a good emotional state to decide what was best for himself.
His grand mother, Rhaenys was murdered. When his step-father and mother tried to find out who murdered her, they too, were found dead, with Aegon III witnessing it all, and was in a state of shock. The money that was meant to be their mother's, along with her company, was instead given to their uncle, Aegon II, because apparently, their grandfather changed the will as he was about to die. They tried to contest it, but it was soon clear that the judge was bribed, leaving them without the inheritance. Then Vaemond, their grand uncle decided to take over their grandfather's business, and they were powerless to stop it.
Jace did multiple jobs, mostly physical labor, but was then found heavily wounded, his back bleeding so horrendously, and he was never able to walk again. Corlys' sickness got worse, eventually putting him in a coma, and the medicine prices skyrocketed, and Lucerys, Lucerys had to bear it all. He needed to find multiple jobs to feed everyone, he barely slept, and still had to worry about his youngest brothers.
Rhaena and Baela were eventually taken in by one of his mother's kin, much to Lucerys' happiness and jealousy. Eventually, Joffrey was taken in by them, too, lightening up the weight on Lucerys' shoulders. He wouldn't dare ask for more, lest they might revoke his siblings' chances of a better life. When Baela and Rhaena tried to give him money, he told them to keep it, just in case something were to happen to them and Joffrey. They do still send some of their allowances, and though it was never going to be enough, Lucerys was still thankful.
Eventually, Viserys II was also taken in by one of Daemon's friends in Pentos, and though Lucerys refused to give him up, the man eventually wore him down, pointing out that he would be able to give Viserys II a better life than Lucerys could. When asked if he could also adopt Aegon III, the man refused, saying he can only take in one, and he wanted "the less crazy one".
Despite the responsibility decreasing, at least financially, it didn't mean everything would be ok. The machines and medicine keeping Corlys alive needed restocking and maintenance, and he and Jace needed someone to watch over them while he was working, lest something does happen to them while he was gone. Aegon III had to be sent to a special school, and would sometimes throw fits, would get panic attacks and anxiety attacks, and Lucerys would be called by the school. There was also the fear in his heart. The people who killed his family was still out there, and if they do want to kill them, too, it would be incredibly easy, and it scares him. His life from the end of his eighteenth birthday to that of his mid-twenties, was a constant cycle of fear, abuse from his job, constant tiredness and stress and irritation, and, at times, wishing to end his suffering by dying, and feeling guilty for ever thinking of abandoning them.
Then, out of the blue, the Hull brothers, Addam and Alyn, came into his life. They told him they were Corlys' sons, a DNA test proved it to be true. They told him they wanted to help what was left of their family, as their mother died weeks prior. And Lucerys felt like this was they were the light at the end of the dark tunnel. They helped him with the payments for Corlys, even helping out Jace and Aegon III, he was finally able to breath after so long.
Then Cregan, an old friend of Jace showed up, and it became incredibly obvious he was there for Jace, a solid rock for him to lean on, and Lucerys felt relief that his brother has someone like him. Then he felt a pinch of jealousy, wanting something like that. And so, he tried finding one, and it led to Alyn.
He and Alyn we're almost always together, with Addam taking care of Corlys and on his boat. Alyn was there to comfort him when he cries, make crude jokes that made him laugh, and made him feel like he was floating after years of feeling like he was drowning.
When he asked if Alyn wanted to be mates with him, he agreed. It caused problems with Jace, who Lucerys felt was still treating him like a child, with Baela and Rhaena, who were introduced to them earlier, despite them not knowing him fully, even Addam questioned if this was truly the man he wanted.
And Lucerys got sick of it. He got sick of the questions, got sick of being treated like a kid when he was the one that made sure everyone survived, got so tired of everyone undermining him. Wasn't he the one that helped the family? Didn't he sacrifice enough? What more do these people want from him?
So he and Alyn eloped. Lucerys didn't feel guilty anymore. He only took a bit of money, and left a note promising he'd give more in the future. Addam and Cregan took care of everyone left in their home, and Aegon III was slowly getting better. He deserves to be happy, too.
And happy he was, for a few months, he and Alyn lived blissfully, despite living in a small apartment, they were happy. Then Alyn got hooked into gambling, and Lucerys found out the money that was meant to be sent to Jace and Corlys and Aegon III were being used to gamble instead. Arguments ensued, fights, Lucerys found out Alyn brought other people home, and eventually, Alyn left Lucerys crying.
He hadn't heard from him in weeks, and Lucerys didn't want to go back and face everyone else after he was proven to be wrong. He knows they would comfort him, knows Addam would curse at his brother and Jace would just hug him and treat him well, but he didn't want to go. He had a bit of pride left in him.
So he didn't tell his family, and he's sure Alyn wouldn't tell Addam anything. He made sure to send the money himself, and called Cregan to make sure it reached them. He had a relatively calmer life.
Then the debtors showed up. Apparently, Alyn owed too much and ran, leaving Lucerys with a huge pile of debt that kept increasing. Lucerys felt like he was being dragged by the current of the ocean again.
The amount kept rising, and he was back to working multiple jobs just to pay what he could. Eventually, one of the debtors suggested he work in the red district, and though Lucerys was incredibly resistant to it, he eventually accepted, because the pay was higher than most of his jobs combined. His only condition was that he would only need to dance. No bedroom services. The debtor snickered and just mockingly agreed.
Lucerys started working there at night. Thankfully, he was a dancer before everything happened, and his body still remembered what his mind couldn't. With the help of Alys, the owner and one of the oldest dancers, he was able to gain enough to pay for the debt.
And that was his new schedule. In the morning, he works a bit more, sleeps for five hours, before getting ready to dance. It was already proving to be fruitful, he got a pay raise and everything. What he liked about it the most, however, was how when he was on the stage, he can ignore everything. He would just need to focus on the music. The tips were increasing, too, which he liked. He even got to send a bit more to the others.
And his life finally stabilized, if he can ignore the weekly debtors entering his home. Then one night, he saw them. His uncle Aegon II and Aemond. He chose to ignore them, to just dance and leave early for the night. But before he could even reach the dressing room, he was called to give a private dance in their vip rooms.
He knew he would see them, and he had to swallow his already bruised up pride to face them. Aegon's face lit up and laughed, clearly recognizing him. Aemond just started at him, hands in fists. Lucerys headed to the pole, but Aegon stopped him, insisting that he do a lapdance for his poor brother Aemond. Aegon even promised to pay him triple if he could get Saint Aemond hard, and that was all the initiative Lucerys needed. He gave his one rule, Aemond wasn't allowed to touch him at all.
It took less than a few seconds, he didn't even technically start. He just sat on his lap and grinded on him once, before feeling little Aemond hardening up. It wasn't just a semi, either. It was a full on hard on. Aegon was like a drunken hyena, and Aemond just looked embarrassed, so despite already ensuring he has the triple pay, Lucerys gave him his lapdance, desperately hoping Aemond doesn't actually explode before he was done.
As soon as Aegon handed him the cash, he left. He had hoped that would be the only time he would see them, but they seem to decide he was their favorite, because they just kept returning every single time he was on stage. Aegon kept paying for Aemond's lapdance, even paying ten times as much, and soon Lucerys just saw it as taking back their mother's inheritance (ignoring the fact he had to pay most of it to his debtors). Aegon kept adding stranger tasks, telling him to pour champagne all over himself, made Lucerys just sit on Aemond's lap all naked, made Lucerys take Aemond's shirt of and wear it instead.
Eventually Aegon got bored and stopped coming, and Lucerys thought that would be the end of it, but Aemond just kept returning. Soon, Aemond just told him he wanted Lucerys to sleep with him, offering to pay him any amount. That made Lucerys pause. He could ask him to pay the entire debt. He could be free from that amount at least. So he tested the waters, doubling the remaining debt. He was shocked when Aemond agreed without hesitation.
So Lucerys slept with him. It was...enjoyable for both of them. The money sent to him was even three times what they initially agreed on. He paid Alyn's debts, and when he heard Corlys was waking up, he rushed home to find him and Addam talking.
He was embraced by all, Aegon III was especially happy to see him return, though it took a lot for him to say anything to Lucerys the first few days since his return. He told them what happened, his life with Alyn, his life without him, opting out on his night job and the debt he just managed to pay, and they, in turn told him about what was going on with them.
Jace managed to find a better job, Cregan managed to get his company back from his uncle, and Aegon III was able to speak a few words unprompted. Addam never heard from Alyn after their break up, and it scares him, but he's sure Alyn would show up sooner or later, and when he does, Addam promises to beat him up for what he did.
Lucerys finally felt like things would get better for them. Then Aemond came to their door with a ring in one hand and a divorce paper signed by Alyn, and his life became a roller coaster once more.
------------
Fun fact: This idea came when I was reading a manga titled "Kozure Omega to Boukun Yakuza", I was going to make Aemond the debt collector and give Lucerys a kid, but I changed it😅 I don't know, as I was writing, stuff changed and the outcome is now much different. Enjoy for now!

There is something so delicious abt the intertwining of failure and success when it comes to the narratives of pathologic.
Daniil enters the town a success, a celebrity doctor, well know and well liked, desperate to save his lab and secure funding but ultimately it isn’t the end of his life if the Hail Mary doesn’t turn out- he still might find a way to save it. Even though the details are uncertain, Daniil Dankovsky enters the town mostly a success. Artemy enters the town hated, suspected of patricide, denied his inheritance, in p2 he didn’t get the degree his father wished of him (it was more about the actual learning than the degree but still) because he was drafted into the war. His old friends dislike him and all hate eachother, by all metrics, Artemy Burakh enters the town a complete failure.
However, even when Daniil gets the Utopian ending, his entire time in the Town is a never ending cycle of little victories that ultimately end in failures. He barely does jack shit, even his medicine sucks ass and doesn’t work. He’s technically the only person here with a medical degree even if both Rubin and Artemy are qualified, yet he functions as a bureaucrat most the time. Even if he gets the utopian ending, he still has failed to save his lab and his old life, it’s all still in ashes.
In Daniils quests, even the ones you do well, half the time it still feels like you’re losing. Daniils story is the story of a man who lost everything he held dear in the span of 2 weeks, the entire time getting punched in the balls.
However, Artemy, even though he enters the town as a failure, retakes his place. He manages to disprove his guilt, he finds his fathers murderer, takes his revenge, he takes his rightful place in the kin (debatable how much he wanted to but like, he didn’t want literally anything so yk), he reunites his friends, his medicine is so good, even when you’re playing as Daniil it’s THE most useful medicine you can create by far. HE ADOPTS CHILDREN FOR FUCKS SAKE.
If Daniil wins, he’s destroyed the town and the people will forever hate him for taking it away. If Artemy wins, he’s the town hero, the one who successfully filled his fathers shoes and saved the town from a deadly outbreak.
Does Daniil deserve such a title for his ending? Absolutely not lmao, he’s an outsider afterall. This was never his world to come in on, merely all he had left. But it’s simply showing how Daniil is doomed to be a failure, and Artemy has the chance of being a hero.
AND the way this feeds into burakovsky is great I feel, the town hero and the disgraced doctor. The one who had it all and lost it all vs the one who lost it all and gained so much more than he ever could’ve expected. Not to say Artemy has only won, but he comes out of the outbreak with far more of a purpose and direction in life, he has a job to do. Daniil has nothing at all, the closest thing being his old friends who spend all their nights drinking away their lives mourning the dream of Utopia. Artemy has set up the future of the town, the children who will ultimately succeed him. Daniil has lost the closest thing he had to a child as well as his own hope.
The story of Daniil is getting beat into the ground where the story of Artemy is climbing your way out of the pits of hell. And idk. I think. I just think it’s fun. (AND both of these things do LITERALLY happen- with Daniil getting the shit beat out of him in the abattoir and whenever you talk to Clara before Artemy jumps in the pit. Or in p2 whenever it’s arguably even more clear that he jumps in a glowing red pit and makes his way out of the bowels of the earth yk)

do you have any headcanons for the dunebabies (toph and aang's kids)?
Hello Anon!
Thank you so much for sending an ask - as you can tell I absolutely love talking about Taang and everything related to them. I especially love talking about the dunebabies and how they'd handle parenting!
Ok, as I previously stated in a past post, I really think Toph and Aang would have a very big family - about five to six kids. It comes in part because of Aang's burden of repopulating the Air Temples and keeping his culture alive. But I just genuinely believe that Toph and Aang are such a good team and couple that they take the challenge of raising a large family, test their communication, relationship and love.
They have 3 girls (one earthbender, two airbenders) and 3 boys (one earthbenders and two airbenders);
Their first-born son, at the ripe age of two, sneezes twelve feet into the air - scaring his mother as she momentarily lost "sight" of her boy; his father, on the other hand, cried with thrill with the notion he was no longer the last living proof of the Air Nomads;
Their first three children are all airbenders. Toph loves them more than she'll ever be able to put into words, but a part of her does fear that her earthbending genetics would not pass onto her children. Thankfully, their fourth child, a beautiful girl, at one, whilst throwing a temper tantrum, cracked their living room wall.
All their children are menaces - they either adopted their mother's humor and confidence, or inherited their father's mischievous and playful personality. They're kind and respectful children, but, just like their parents when they were young, they love having fun and goofing off;
Toph loves parenthood, adores being a mother. It's something she had once believed ill-suited her and she'd worried she lacked the nurturing, soft, gentle touch that came naturally to Katara and Suki. Despite everyone's concerns, Toph is an amazing mom. Laidback and carefree but strict when need be; she gives her children the freedom her own parents had denied her but always keeping a close, protective "eye" to guarantee their safety; she plays with the kids, tells them bedside stories of her adventures with Aang, suffocates them with tender love and care (love and care exclusively reserved for her family). Aang never once doubted her.
Aang would take all his kids to the Air Temples - earthbenders and airbenders alike - he took great pride in teaching them his culture, his values and morals, his history. He'd promised Toph he wouldn't force the Air Nomad lifestyle on his kin, unless they showed interest in pursuing it; additionally, Toph had made it clear that if he ever showed any sigh of favoritism for his airbending children, she'd terminate the Avatar Cycle with him - it was a threat he had taken seriously (though Aang would never neglect his two little earthbenders, he loved all their kids equally);
The kids adore teasing and pranking Toph because of her blindness - especially her airbending boys. They had found great joy in airbending their way out of her sight to escape punishment - so much so, that she had crafted little metal bracelets for all her children so she could keep tabs on their whereabouts (and so they wouldn't surprise her into an early grave);
The dunebabies love their uncles and aunts - and when accompanied by the steambabies and bladebabies... chaos and mayhem is certain. It doesn't help that the two youngest members of the Gaang enjoy causing their friends just as much stress as their children - many a times, Aang and Toph would join all the children in terrorizing the Fire Palace Staff or pissing their parents off;
Instead of having a permanent home - they have little homes in every nation due to Aang's Avatar duties. However, once the children grow old enough to go to school, cultivate friendships and need that stability - Aang and Toph agree that a forever home was long overdue. They eventually settle to reside within a calm town just on the outskirts of Republic City;
Toph eventually reforms the old Dai Li into Republic City's law enforcers. Balancing motherhood with her professional life was no easy feat, however, she and Aang had always worked in perfect harmony. So, when she needed to be present at work to teach metalbending, Aang would be at home caring for the kids; When Aang needed to leave for Peace Summits, Political Events and other Avatar duties, Toph would step in. They were always a team and because of that their kids never once had to be alone or without a parental figure.
Despite the odds, Aang and Toph raise their children beautifully and their a happy family, imperfect yet wonderful.

The metaphysical mechanics of Anakin's Force Ghost are the single biggest mystery of the period between RotJ and TFA to me.
If he can Force Ghost, or at least sometimes, then what governs what he can and cannot do, and who he can or cannot speak with?
If he can appear to others the way Obi Wan, Qui Gon, Yoda, and eventually Luke can, it makes very little emotional sense unless something is blocking him.
I like to think that Anakin, in death, had enough respect for Leia not to appear to her. His actions killed her real mam and dad, the people who raised her into a kind, strong person with integrity in every step. He tortured her, he destroyed her homeworld and her culture. He wouldn't be so stupid as to think that a nice father-daughter chat would solve everything.
I like to think that he loves her from an observational distance, and brims with pride at every step she takes for the galaxy that he injured gravely and so nearly destroyed. So like Padmé, her justice-seeking Naberrie qualities nurtured like rare orchids by Bail and Breha, who were themselves so principled and just. Anakin might also see the ways in which she is not like any of the senators or royalty who made her who she is. He might want to take credit for the parts of her that are so brave, so impassioned, so willing to challenge any authority she sees as unworthy or unjust. Obi-Wan told her, when she was very young, that this was her inheritance from Anakin. But Leia doesn't want anything from him, and he understands. So he spends time watching, in grieving pride, at what his daughter became in spite of him.
I also like to think that at a certain point he would have to try, if he could, to intervene in what was being done to her family. In my heart there is no version of a redeemed afterlife Anakin who does not try to save another Skywalker child from what he went through.
He would have tried to materialise, blue-aura-lit and kind eyed, into the living room of a Chandrilla apartment, to try to soothe the terror and discomfort of a tiny child levitating cambiblocks and breaking glass in distress. He has far more experience with child murder than child rearing, but by the Force he'd damn well TRY.
It probably wouldn't work, and I think some of us fans (esp those who love the sequels or those who are more interested in the Skywalkers than the Disaster Lineage as a family) deserve to know why.
Why, in my headcannons, does Anakin spend years trying to send thoughts of 'no kiddo that isn't me, I'm me, your grandpa, and I can tell you that your mom and dad love you so much and that those other voices are full of bantha-poodoo, please trust me, please believe me, please hear me' out through the Force, only for them to never find their way to their intended recipient?
Why can he not appear to Leia and say, 'I know you don't want to talk to me and I don't want you to have to endure the distress of talking to me but it's about your kid. I can't make the past alright, but let me please give you the information you need to stop the cycle repeating'.
Why can't he warn Luke? 'There's a storm coming and the lightning is not natural. You have seen that lightning before, standing right by my side, and it comes from the same source. Our nephew dreams things that are not his own. Consider striking him and you will doom the world, but also our family. Don't let the Darkness guide you, its only goal is to make more Darkness.'
There are several potential answers, of course.
The first is that Anakin can get through but nobody listens. It's a steady stream of 'stay away from my child, stay away from my academy, don't corrupt our future with the evil of the past'. This option reflects negatively on Luke and Leia, but it also feels true to traumatised families. I'm a firm believer in the fact that Luke, Leia, and Han as having unwittingly done poorly by the next generation of their kin does not 'ruin' their characters, it makes them more sympathetic and human, and so it doesn't upset me if this is the option. It's bad parenting and good storytelling.
The most obvious answer is of course, Palpatine. He can block Anakin's access to the likes of Luke, Leia, and Ben. This means that a dead Palpatine is still torturing a dead Anakin. Excuse me while I cry for a thousand years. Now either this means that Palpatine thinks Ahsoka is small potatoes and it doesn't matter if Anakin can see her in the WBW, or that Anakin could only communicate with Ahsoka BECAUSE she could enter the WBW. So, considering that the Ahsoka show takes place after 'Last Shot', it still makes no sense that Anakin doesn't go 'please see what's going on with Leia's kid, I'm worried about her and about her lil guy.'
The third option is the one that I find genuinely upsetting. Not in-world upsetting, but what-are-they-doing-with-our-story upsetting. It's also the one I find the most likely:
DLF in general and Favroni in particular are pushing Disaster Lineage out in front, and trying to sublimate the Skywalkers. I see Ahsoka as Anakin's sister, and I don't think it is inappropriate for him to love her the same way he loves his children, his grandchild, or his brother Obi-Wan. It makes emotional sense for him to reach out to her, and love is not a finite resource.
But a set of wider storytelling choices is highlighting that the most important inheritance of the story is Yoda to Dooku to Qui Gon to Obi Wan to Anakin to Ahsoka to maybe Sabine, or Jacen Syndulla. I feel in some ways that shifting Anakin's attention, or the context in which we encounter him, may give the audience a sense of the greater legitimacy of the Disaster Lineage to the long term future of the galaxy.
I have ZERO problem with this being the thread by which Force training is maintained in the GFFA through the sequels and into the post-sequel era. I prefer it to watching my beloved Rey of Jakku doing it all alone.
I have a HUGE problem with the idea that we may never get more Skywalkers in context with one another. And more importantly, the idea that we really shouldn't care about what happened to them after Return of the Jedi. That the sequels don't matter.
Anakin is the greatest silence in the sequels. I suspect that they didn't get Hayden back because they were still nervous of prequel hate (sweet summer children that they were, not knowing that the penis-brains were gunning for them, too). Many of us hoped that the New Republic Era TV series would inflect upon the ST the way that Clone Wars inflected upon the PT.
So far it really hasn't.

Pumkachubby's side story: Gourmet Expeditions! Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Here we go! A new story begins today, set in the same universe as my main story but this time the setting is in the Paldea region, our new protagonist Shiro and in this chapter we will see how he meets a particular Miraidon, I hope you all like it~
Warning: This story is set after the events of the main plot of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and while in this particular chapter nothing remarkable is spoiled its recommended to be aware of it for future chapters, since game characters will appearing here and there
The situation was bad: not only was I lost somewhere in the mountains of the North Province, but I also lost most of the contents of my backpack trying to run away from an enraged Noivern earlier that day. My rotom phone was damaged too so I had no idea how far we were from a town or at least a pokemon center, and with the sun setting already I had to set up camp for the night and try my best to make something edible. I was left with enough ingredients to make one last sandwich, so despite the worried look of my pokemon I decided to try my best.
It was so awful my body rejected it so hard I ended up dropping it to the floor.
-”I’m sorry guys, I really tried my best” - I apologized to my Applin and Tatsugiri who quickly came to comfort me - “ I was really hoping that weird spice we found the other day would be useful… What should we do? Walking in the dark of the night could be dangerous, I guess we can go a night without dinner, right?” - I said as I looked at the sunset.
It has been half a year since I moved to Paldea, using all of my savings from my last job I came to join the Academy, since I heard they take students from all ages I took it as a chance to start a new life alongside Ringo, my Applin that has been my partner since I was teenager, and the only friend I ever made back in Galar. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that I prefer the company of pokemon over other people, I was never able to get along with them… Well, at least I am until they realize my true nature. If you were to separate the people of this world you would usually make 2 distinct groups: normal humans and Hybrids, those who share a characteristics with pokemon, but in fact there is a third group people don’t talk about or are simply looked down as “mongrels”, descendants of Hybrids and human that by a simple look you may think that barely inherited any of their ancestors visual appearances, but once you notice you can’t unsee it, like the shape their hair naturally grows, which is my case.
School life in my childhood was terrible, children, no matter if they are human or hybrids, are awful, and that extends to teenagers and adults, so I ended up being homeschooled, even though I tried to join school multiple times. I wouldn’t blame them for having an easier time getting along with those who are kin, but is it really necessary to look down and mock those like me who don't fit in either group? I can’t even blame my parents for it since they didn't even know they had a hybrid ancestor until I was born…
So I ended up growing bitter, as to be expected, but after an awful situation in my last job I decided to quit and start a new page in my life, I tried my best to come with a positive energy, forget about my past and be ready to make friends but unfortunately that wasn’t the case… once my new classmates realized my origins they turned against me. I ended up joining Team Star because I met one of its leaders, who is a pretty cool guy who immediately accepted me for who I am, but that didn’t stop the same cycle to repeat among the grunts groups, so I ended up running away once again.
A rumble in my belly brought me back to reality, my pokemon looking worried at me.
-”Don’t worry I’ll be fine, I’m sure we can find some berries in our way to the nearest town tomorrow morning, we just have to endure the nigh-” A sudden movement in the bushes at my back startled me, under normal circumstances I would have been able to deal with a wild pokemon but I couldn’t force my friends into battle with an empty stomach so I quickly put them back into their poke balls. A large figure jumped from the bushes and glared at me, for a second I thought it was a Cyclizar but it was purple, way bigger and metallic-looking, like some kind of robot. The creature stared at me for a couple of seconds and quickly jumped in my direction. I closed my eyes waiting for the worst but nothing happened, when I opened them again I noticed the creature was behind me, happily eating the sandwich in the ground. Once it was done it turned back at me, this time with a more friendly look in its eyes. It was then when I noticed I had seen this pokemon before, it was a Miraidon. The latest Champion have been seen riding one of these and since they are quite popular it's hard to avoid knowing about them, although I have heard that this pokemon in particular was quite rare so I immediately assumed it must be the same one.
-”Did you get separated from your trainer?” - I asked the Miraidon, who gave me a confused look - “So… you don’t have a trainer?” - I said as I petted his face - “I’m sorry you had to eat that from the floor, must have been pretty hungry right?” - The pokemon smiled back at me and started to run in cycles, usually looking back at me. Normally I would say that I have a good instinct to what a pokemon is trying to tell me, you don’t need to be a hybrid to get an idea after all, but as this Miraidon jumped everywhere my confusion only grew bigger and bigger.
The pokemon kept moving around and occasionally looking back at me for a while until it suddenly stopped and jumped on me. It was pretty heavy so there wasn’t much I could do, but at least it was clear it wasn’t trying to hurt me. its eyes were very close to mine until I saw a strange glow on them, in that moment the Miraidon jumped back into the air and started to spin quickly as a yellow and violet light enveloped it, it didn’t look like any move I knew and somehow it didn’t felt like I was in any particular danger, it was captivating. Then it suddenly exploded into a cloud of purple and yellow sparks, I looked away for a moment and when I looked back I was presented with a sight that made me question my sanity: The wild Miraidon now walked in two feet, no, it had transformed into a humanoid begin! Their body still had a robotic look but it was considerably closer to a person now. After checking their new appearance for a couple of second it spoke to me:
-“Good, it worked”- They said, with a deep but electronic-sounding voice.
-”Yo- You can talk!? Wait, what’s going on??” - I managed to say as I fell to the ground, I couldn’t believe what I just witnessed - “I must be dreaming, right?”
-”What are you saying? Oh, let me help you” - They said, offering their hand, I took it by instinct and I could notice how hard and cold it was.
-”Is this, is this real?” - I said out loud, but the Miraidon replied nonetheless.
-”Well you can say I’m surprised too, I moved by instinct, I noticed you didn’t understand what I was trying to say so I took a form more suitable for communication.”
-”Wait a moment! You can’t just say that! Pokemon can’t just turn into people, right?”
-”How can you deny what your eyes just saw? You are an interesting one, but to satisfy your concerns, no, not all pokemon can do such a feat, but I guess some really powerful ones like myself can, although… I’m not sure if I can turn back now, at least I’m certain I don’t have enough energy to do it again, but I’ll worry about that later. For now let’s proceed with the reason I took this form, speaking human language is easier than I expected so let's not waste any more time.”
-”You did this just because you wanted to talk to me?” - I asked in shock.
-”Yes, that food you didn’t ate saved me, I’ve been traveling around in this unknown place for a while and finding something to eat has been quite the struggle so when I saw that piece of food I couldn’t help myself but to jump into it, I wouldn’t exaggerate if I said that you saved my life so I want to pay you back.”
-“But… it was a terrible sandwich…”
-”Maybe for you, but it was the most delicious thing I have memory of tasting”
-”Or maybe you just were too hungry?”
-”Its a possibility, just like the fact that I don’t have many memories of flavors, let alone memories to begin with…” - They said in a sad tone. -”I woke up in a cold, shiny cave with no memories a couple of months ago, alongside many others like myself. Life was rough there, constantly fighting for food, and while I had no problems getting it I couldn’t stand being trapped in that cave, so I ended up using all the energy I had to escape…”
-”I see…” - I replied looking at his hand, still holding mine, knowing too well how that feeling of being trapped in an hostile environment feels like.
-“Please excuse me, that was uncalled for. While you may have discarded that meal I don’t know how long it would have been until I found more food, and I heard that it was the last of your supplies so, as a way to pay you back, I can provide you with a fast way to travel around, sure I can’t transform like I was before but I can still travel way faster than a normal person can.”
-”I-I see” - For a moment I doubted myself, but how could I say no at this point? Even if I wanted to say it I had to think of my pokemon too after all. - “ Then… how should we do it?”
-”Just hop on to my back and get a good hold. Oh, but first, there is something we should take care about.”
-”What would that be?” -I asked, as they grabbed my backpack, taking an empty poke ball and dropping it into the air, as it fell on his head the usual red light came out of it and surrounded his body, taking their body into it and quickly closed itself. I jumped to grab it by instinct and as my hand touched it I could see the sparkles that announced the capture was successful.
That night, I captured a Miraidon…  a humanoid Miraidon!!??
The warmth of the sun in the morning woke me up, I was in my room in the academy and Ringo quickly came to check on me, he looked worried, like every morning after I had a nightmare.
-”Don’t worry Ringo it was just a dream”- I said as I petted him - “There is no way a pokemon can take a humanoid appearance and talk, well, maybe some Zoroark…?”
-”I’m glad to see you are awake.” - Said Director Clavell, who seems to be waiting right in the entrance of my room, thankfully most of the staff here don’t have prejudices against people like me so I have always felt welcomed by them. I would ask why he was here but Tatsu was on his shoulder so I deduced it was him who told him I had woken up. - “It was quite the uproar last night.”
-”Uh? Did something happen?”- I asked, confused.
-”How rude” - Said a deep, electronic voice coming from the same way the director came from - “But I guess I can’t blame you for thinking it was all a dream, you fainted when I got into that ball.”
-”WAIT WAIT IT WAS REAL!!?? Did YOU bring me here??”
-”That’s correct.” - Intervened the Director - “I was finishing my duties last night when you showed up unconscious in their arms, it was quite the scene between the few presents, after all not every hybrid share so many physical characteristics with their pokemon ancestors, there are some that have tails and wings but these are very rare cases, but I guess that doesn’t really apply to our guest here.”
-”So, you know about his nature?”
-”Of course, we talked about that last night alongside Ms. Geeta, they even had a battle.”
-”It was rude of me to suggest such a thing, I underestimated her strength…” - Said the Miraidon scratching their neck.
-”Wait, so you know that they are…?” - I asked the Director.
-”While it's certainly a surprising event to witness, it's not precisely something “new” in our world, there are many old folk tales that mention pokemon taking human form to make a bridge between the human and Pokemon, who were separated from each other for big part of our history, although such cases are often about pokemon of legends. If you want to know more about such tales you can ask Ms. Raifort, your history teacher.”
-”I wasn’t asking about that, I mean, they literally went inside a poke ball! They technically are my pokemon now?? I can’t just own a person! I mean sure they don’t look completely human but it's kinda messed up if you think about it. Why did you do that in the first place??” - I asked looking at the Miraidon
-”I guess I should apologize, I didn’t know that’s what getting into that ball meant until last night, I thought I had to do that to properly travel alongside you, that was the impression you and the other trainers I saw in the last couple of days gave me, I couldn’t just ask them after all.”
-”I understand your concern, Master Shiro, but you need to understand their point of view too. They don’t know much about our society after all, but they can learn about it, don’t you think? We talked about this too with Ms. Geeta and we concluded that as long as they remain with that appearance they can’t act like a pokemon anymore, so it would be better if they travel around and learn about our culture. As far as we know they can’t return to their previous state, but if they become able to do it then they should decide how they want to live their life by themselves, don’t you agree?”
-”I see, I guess you are right, who are we to decide for them who they are…”
-”Then…” - Said the Miraidon as they walked closer to me - “Would it be too much if I asked for your support? I still feel like I’m in debt to you, but I would like to have you as my guide…”
-”You took me back to society safety, that’s more than that dirty sandwich was worth! If someone is in debt here it should be me, of course I can teach you around, although I do have something I want to ask… ”
-”Of course, what would it be?”
-”You need to put on clothes…”
-”Now that you mention it, you are absolutely correct! We need to get you some clothes as soon as possible.” - Replied the Director, quickly covering his eyes as he rushed out of the room.
-”Do I really need to?”
-”If you want to experience life as a person then you need to start by following the basics of modesty.”
-”... fine. But with that in mind, there is something important I want to ask from you.”
-”Sure, go ahead.”
-”I want a name.”
-”Eehh!!?? But I’m not good with that… and I’m not going to be your trainer, I don’t really know how to feel if I named you…”
-”It doesn’t have to be the most creative name around, I may change it in the future, but if I’m going to live life like a person then you can’t call me “Miraidon”, right? It would be like if I called you “Pumpkaboo”!”
-”THAT’S-”- I shouted, just now realizing that I wasn’t wearing the hat that I always have on to hide the very distinct hairstyle that has given me so much trouble all my life. I could be angry but they clearly are not aware of my own circumstances, I could do nothing but agree. -” That’s correct, you do need a name, give me a second… … … What about something like… Light? Since you shined in a bright light when you changed your form.”
-”Hm… Light…”- They stood up for a couple of seconds, repeating the improvised name a couple of times to themselves - “yeah! I like it. Thank you Shiro, I hope you can teach me a lot of things from your people”
-”My people, you say…” - I had to admit for someone that has never felt like belongs anywhere, it hit pretty close where it hurts, but I couldn’t run away, this is what I came looking for in this region: start a new life, live new experiences, and I wasn’t going to let this chance escape, not when there is someone right in front of me that sees me for who I am. - “Then? is there anything in particular that you are curious about?” -I asked them, not really sure myself where we should start
-”Well, I was wondering… you said that the sandwich I ate last night was pretty awful, so that means there is way better food out there, right??” - Said Light, with an excited sparkle in their eyes.
-”Of course! This world is full of different, delicious food for everyone to taste, I can show you a couple of places in the city to start”
-”Marvelous! Then get ready, we have a starting point for our journey! Let’s begin our Gourmet Expedition!” - They said, grabbing me by the arm and lifting me into the air, my pokemon joined in jumping cheerfully around us.
-”Alright alright! but first get some clothes on!!”

I think one major potential weakness of the bonobo-like human social system is it might be less effective at preventing inbreeding.
A major Homo sapiens inbreeding-avoidance strategy is communities exchanging people through marriage. Historically, this was often gender-asymmetric, with women being exchanged more than men. I suspect this gender-asymmetrical exogamy pattern was a major contributor to the development of patriarchy; it meant women got their social connections disrupted more. One of my major worldbuilding challenges for bonobo-like humans is giving them features that would either prevent this gender-asymmetric exogamy pattern from emerging, mitigate its disruptive effects on female-female and male-female solidarity, or some combination of both.
@who-canceled-roger-rabbit some of this is kind of relevant re: that conversation we had a while back about matriarchies.
I suspect the causes of this gender-asymmetry in Homo sapiens exogamy are 1) male solidarity was more important to military power, 2) the last common ancestor of gorillas, chimps, and humans had silverback-centered social groups in which a single dominant male was the nucleus of the group and chimps and humans inherited a tendency toward females changing social groups at maturity from them. I'm not really worried about 2), human behavior is pretty flexible, but 1) seems like a probable huge obstacle to the emergence of a female-privilege society (which I suspect is a big part of the reason unambiguously female-privilege societies were rare to nonexistent in Earth history if the known historical record is anything to go by).
IIRC actual bonobos seem to have kept the social pattern inherited through 2) and went the mitigation route; female bonobos change social groups more than male bonobos, and the key to female power in bonobo society is strong solidarity between non-kin females reinforced through sexual bonding. It would be intensely on-brand if bonobo-like human women also use sexual bonding between women to build strong female solidarity between unrelated women and thus mitigate the disruptive effects of females changing communities as an inbreeding-avoidance strategy.
I don't think I'll make that the whole picture with them though, because my ideas on how they got a low-key female privilege society hinge on matrilineal kinship solidarity between mothers and their adult children being important. Importantly, that model would make matrilineal kinship solidarity between women and matrilineal kinship solidarity between women and males both important for maintaining the bonobo-like human social order, which would tend to discourage exogamy of any kind.
Regarding the second thing, I think one big leg-up bonobo-like human women might have over bonobo females there is being smarter. Bonobo-like women are smart and (through language) communicative enough to observe the deleterious effects of inbreeding, realize they are consequences of mating with relatives, and do deliberate and coordinated inbreeding-avoidance. I suspect actual bonobos do inbreeding-avoidance behaviors without realizing that's what they're doing, in an "adaptation executor, not fitness maximizer" way. Deliberate planning is much more flexible and optimizable than "adaptation executor, not fitness maximizer" behavior. A bonobo-like woman can conceptualize the social benefits of remaining in her natal social group while also conceptualizing the risks of mating with close relatives and then imagine a strategy for exploiting her capacity to track her menstruation/ovulation cycle to simultaneously have the former and avoid the latter; wait until she's near ovulation, then travel to another group and submit to a consensual gang-bang, then travel back to her natal group and rejoin them. That sort of "having their cake and eating it too" reproductive strategy would have big potential social benefits for women compared to changing groups, so once they got the idea I expect it'd become very popular - and older bonobo-like women would start encouraging their daughters and nieces to plan their futures around following it, so their daughters and nieces would stay in their natal group and keep contributing labor to their natal group.
Also, re: bonobo-like strategy of using sexual bonding to recruit unrelated women into strong female solidarity networks...
... An idea I like is bonobo-like women eventually got good enough at that to turn that strategy on males and assimilate outsider males into female-centered solidarity networks in the same way. Basically, male kinship solidarity was less important to the military power of small communities in bonobo-like humans because in their species the community's women could totally take some wandering mercenary, go to work on him, and turn him into a fiercely loyal ride-or-die human guard dog for their community in a few years. Actually, when I put it that way, I suspect Homo sapiens women have a social strategy like this too and it's part of what went into the knight/damsel thing and this and that whole women as civilizers/domesticators of dangerous wild men concept (Enkidu and Shamhat might be allegorically about this!) and a nontrivial amount of male misogyny is rooted in the fear that a woman might rewire your brain in ways your present self wouldn't like by doing this to you. But I guess the bonobo-like human version would be more powerful (when used on bonobo-like human males, at least) and less monogamish (sapiens versions of this kind of male domestication narrative seem to heavily emphasize couples, but that might be culture-specific). Ability to do that might have made ancient bonobo-like human communities much more gender-balanced in terms of bringing in new genes by assimilating outsider women vs. bringing in new genes by assimilating outsider males.
A lot of this wouldn't be directly relevant to bonobo-like human society today, when it's pretty peaceful, but bonobo-like human typical neurotype and culture would be influenced by the social conditions and physical conditions their ancestors lived in, just like our typical neurotype and culture are influenced by the social conditions and physical conditions our ancestors lived in.
Also, I like the idea that bonobo-like humans are a more genetically diverse species than us because they missed Toba and maybe a few other genetic bottlenecks that badly depleted our genetic diversity, so inbreeding would be less damaging to them. So that might help.

(So I impulsively wrote this three part essay in a poor YouTuber's comment section, and since it's unlikely to ever be read and I also spent too much time on it I'm posting it here)
Okay I'm stupidly passionate about Grimm, and in the mossbag reaction video you were interested in a deeper dive into Grimm's lore, as well as in this video you expressed confusion on why people view the banishment ending as the bad ending, so I decided to a three part essay about the subject matter, enjoy!
*Part 1: Grimm's nature: Grimm Vs the Pale King*
You have stated that you prefer the banishment ending because it's more in line with the rest of the game's story, one that condemns those seeking eternity, but to know why the main story condemns this we must examine the person who set it in motion, the Pale King.
The Pale King not only sought to create an eternal kingdom, but he also maximise its size at all cost , tempting the moth tribe away from their god, the White Lady taking chunks of Unn's land, and them attempting to build into Deepnest despite Deepest clear hostility towards them. And when the desire for endless growth came to bite them in the ass with the Radiance retaliating, the Pale King sacrificed droves of his own children to prolong himself and his kingdom. This goes against the natural cycle in which the parents give themselves up for the sake of their children.
For an example of similar messaging within a popular piece media that should be known to all, in the novel Dracula, a novel that places emphasis on one's inheritance, the aforementioned Dracula is villanised due his nature breaking the natural cycle, feeding on the blood of young people prolong himself and achieve immortality. He is criticised not simply because of his want for eternity but because of who he harms along the way, especially those who still have their whole lives ahead of them.
Now compare this Grimm, who despite his title as king in this dream fight seems to have no desire for a kingdom, happy with four mortal followers (Brumm, Divine and Grimm steed, that being those Willoh like bugs in front) alongside the Grimm Kin, which seem to be extensions of the Nightmare Heart rather than individuals, with Grimm having the smallest number of followers out of all the higher beings (with the exception of the thing that spawns the lifeblood cocoons which appeared to only have one follower that being Joni).
The Grimm troupe also do not come to Hallownest to conquer it, in contrast to the Pale King, rather they are there for the nightmare essence, something that seems to only spawn within lands long dead, and used to nourish the Grimmchild. In essence the Grimm troupe are vultures feeding on the dead rather than predators seeking the living, seemingly uninterested in the residents of Dirtmouth, and therefore essential to the process of decay.
With him only feeding on the nightmares of the dead and bearing such a small number of followers Grimm/the nightmare heart, despite his devilish appearance, is ironically one of the higher beings that has the least capacity for harm.
Not only that, while the ritual is described as a never ending song Grimm, unlike the Pale King, does not break the natural cycle, giving *himself* up for the sake of his child ("burn the father feed the child"), rather than the other way round like the Pale King, as he dies in the nightmare king ending. He does not seek to prolong himself but rather his lineage, the difference between these two things will become important later.
So why does Brumm take issue with the ritual?
*Part 2: Brumm's dilemma: and why people feel like the banishment ending is the bad ending.*
While the citizens of Dirtmouth, Jiji in particular, are wary of the Grimm troupe, believing them malicious, Brumm does not appear to wish to discontinue the ritual because of the harm it may cause, but rather out of compassion, especially for the Grimmchild, believing their lineage would strip them of their free will, and Brumm himself feels that he lacks it within the troupe, going into Deepnest to avoid his master's scarlet eyes. He wishes to banish the troupe but does not believe himself capable, seeking Ghost aid as he sees them as without a master. He however does state that he bears them no hatred if they choose to not banish the troupe, as in his eyes any choice is right as long as it's willed as and he believes himself as without a will.
So what happens if you do banish the troupe? Does Brumm regain his will? Does the endless song end?
Eh here's where things get murky and heres why this ending is so divisive. Not only does Grimmchild disappear alongside the troupe making it possible that they are with their father awaiting a new summoner in a different land making it so that the ritual, and therefore the endless song, have not been discontinued but rather paused.
Not only that but Brumm regaining his will is debatable, as Nymm, now mask-less without the memories of his previous identity as Brumm, stays in Dirtmouth. But does do so because he wants to? Or because he does not remember any other option? This gets especially murky at his carefree melody dialogue, as he describes this charm, clearly from his time in the Grimm troupe, as filling him with a sense of longing. Would Nymm choose to return to the troupe if he remembered it?
That's what his story is about, the circumstances one is born in and how that leads them to live a certain type of life. While Grimmchild is born into a role he did not choose, is Nymm not the same? Born again with a new identity confined to a small town because his memory does not allow him to conceive of anything else.
That's why people view this ending as a bad ending because to most it does not feel like much was achieved.
But does the nightmare king ending not doom the Grimmchild to become another puppet for the Nightmare Heart?
*Part 3: Grimmchild and Ghost: the nature of vessels.*
In the Grimm troupe DLC we are shown that Grimm and later grimmchild are the mortal bodies of the Nightmare Heart, a higher being that cannot exist within the mortal plane, only shown to us in the background of the nightmare king fight within the dream realm ( perhaps because after the dream realm split, as the seer states in the hunters journal, it became too weak to do so) . Because of this it's not uncommon to see comparisons being drawn between Grimm and his child and the vessels, however there are some differences.
For one the relationship between the Hollow Knight and the Radiance is not one either party had any say in, with the Radiance enraged with her containment and breaking the Hollow Knight's body in the process.
In comparison the Nightmare Heart appears to be a lot more passive, especially with how easily it can be banished, with it's relationship with Grimm appears much more symbiotic, allowing Grimm his own voice and sense of self, (perhaps even allowing him to choose who to recruit to the trope as there doesn't appear to be a reason why the nightmare heart would require bugs like divine and brumm specifically tho that is more speculation on my own part rather than anything).
While the Radiance acts as a parasite to the bodies of those she inhabits, the Nightmare Heart is more akin to stomach bacteria, because while the majority of bacteria is harmful to us, some not only live passively within us but also benefit us, as you can see with Grimmchild lacking the ability to defend itself until it has consumed the nightmare essence.
Because of this I believe that Grimmchild is not necessarily doomed simply because they are the new troupe master, but rather I believe that they by sheer virtue of not being their father, regardless of their role, has the chance to do things differently.
This does not even get to the role of the summoner within the ritual, that being Ghost.
When you finish the ritual Ghost and Grimmchild awake in dirtmouth, with the troupe gone. If Grimmchild were to take the role of troupe master immediately would the troupe not stay with their new master? I believe that the reason the trope disappears is so that the Grimmchild is raised by their summoner, and only when they reach adulthood are they to return to the trope (perhaps even assembling his own troupe? It's unclear whether they're supposed to find the old troupe or create their own) and take on the role of troupe master. This is so that the child is not spoiled as child leaders tend to become, and to acclimate them to the common bug as the role of the troupe master would require them to travel many lands and interact with a various selection of bugs.
Even if Grimmchild is merely a vessel to the Nightmare Heart, who's better raise them than Ghost, a vessel created for a specific purpose but shown time and time again that they are capable of going against what is expected of them.
In conclusion, to me both endings are morally neutral, it just depends on whether you, the player, values giving Brumm a chance to regain his sense of free will, or whether you value giving Grimmchild the chance to come into their own. It's the choice of continuing one's lineage or not and cutting oneself from it, both of which can be seen as valid outcomes depending on your outlook.
Personally in my playthrough I picked Grimmchild because I have a soft spot for the concept of two weird godly children hanging out in a dead kingdom, and Grimmchild being the only one keeping me sane after half of the character I liked died.
Also Grimm pretty

"One day you will hear what I am saying, one day you might understand."
“I’ve heard your words very clearly, mother.” He would not - could not - succumb to his hatred. It flowed through his veins just as it did her, but he was something more. Or so they said. Perhaps that too was just part of this venomous linage — a part of the lies. Something that he, despite all his scrutiny, could not be sure of anymore. Nothing was certain, nor sacred, it seemed.
“You will not have them.” he bellowed without hesitation. For the first time in his life he could feel himself resounding with the harsh tone of his father, his words rasped like a snake, his fangs bared as the emotion stirred more violently. He could care not for how it unsettled him so; his kin’s - his children’s - future was in dire jeopardy. And she should know such rage. He inherited it from her.
“Not a single drop of my sibling’s or offspring’s blood will be spilled for your ridiculous war. For either side, especially by force. We are outside that cycle, beyond it. Or were your intentions never for us to be our own?”

Unexpected Fate
INHERITANCE CYCLE (ERAGON) AND LOTR CROSSOVER. VILANSIA AND HER DRAGON, SVELLEVARINA, HAVE SPENT MANY YEARS TRAINING YOUNG DRAGON RIDERS ALONGSIDE ERAGON AND SAPHIRA. BUT, THEIR TIME OF ADVENTURE HAS COME. THE PEOPLE OF MIDDLE EARTH HAVE CALLED FOR AID AND ALAGAESIA WILL ANSWER
Chapter 10: The Breaking of the Fellowship
Tumblr media
The predictable forest landscape along the river bank was interrupted the following day around mid-afternoon by two grand statues on either side of the river. They were much larger than even Saphira herself. Stern expressions were carved into their faces, both of them holding out their hands before them, palms facing us as if motioning those who may oppose them to halt in their presence. Gimli looked on in amazement, no doubt admiring the stonework. Stone crowns were structured atop their heads.
"The Argonath," Legolas informed me. "They are the kin of Aragorn,"
While it was hard to discern a likeness to Aragorn at such a low vantage point, there was no doubt that they all held ancient energy about them. The statues exuded power and strength, something that the ranger was quiet about showing to others. The Argonath marked the point at which the river entered a large lake, the blue water expanding in front of us. The crashing of a waterfall echoed across the waterfront.
Aragorn signaled ahead of us to pull up onto the river bank once we reached the lake, each of our canoes pushing onto the rocky riverside.
"We cross the lake at nightfall," Aragorn told us. "Hide the boats and continue on foot. We approach Mordor from the North,"
"Oh, yes?" Gimli questioned. "Just a simple matter of finding our way through Emyn Muil...an impassible labyrinth of razor-sharp rocks! And after that, it gets even better. Festering, stinking marshland as far as the eye can see,"
Aragorn paused in unpacking his canoe, an eyebrow raised. "That is our road. I suggest you take some rest and recover your strength, Master Dwarf,"
"Recover my-"Gimli grumbled in disbelief. "Recover strength? Pay no heed to that, young Hobbit,"
Pippin did not seem too concerned with Aragorn's friendly jab.
Svellevarina drew my attention to her, her scales sparkling from the water droplets that clung to them. "While the company rests here I will do some hunting. I won't go far, there is plenty of fish within the lake,"
"Very well. Do not close your mind completely to me,"
She nudged my shoulder once before jumping into the air, the wind from her wings rustling our clothes and shifting the canoes slightly. I watched her skim the surface of the water in search of fish, her senses focused on the hunt. I turned away after a moment, leaving her be.
Merry and Pippin snacked on a portion of the lembas bread provided to us by Lady Galadriel with Gimli, taking full advantage of the time we had on the shore. I helped Sam set up a small cooking fire, waiting until he had set up small sticks in a pointed, circular formation before snapping my fingers together to reveal small sparks. The Hobbits watched in awe as I snapped my fingers again, releasing the magic towards the deadfall and allowing it to catch fire.
"The word for fire in the ancient language is brisingr," I told them. Pippin began chanting the word under his breath, trying his best to commit it to memory. "Take heart, that is no easy spell for beginner magicians,"
Sam leaned against a large boulder behind him, crossing his arms tight against him as he shut his eyes for a quick rest as he waited for the fire to reach proper cooking temperature.
Merry sat up from where he sat next to Pippin. "Where's Frodo?"
Sam's eyes snapped open as he scrambled onto his feet. As I looked, I noticed that both he and Boromir were nowhere in sight. I extended my mind in search of the Hobbit, but his mind was shielded from me, preventing me from finding him. I cursed myself for not maintaining surveillance. I was able to find Boromir, who was deep within the forest.
"Remain here," Aragorn said. "I will go after him," he ran into the woods, a hand resting on the hilt of his weapon.
I felt Legolas' unease rise, causing certain stress of my own. I reached out to Svellevarina, making sure that she was not too far.
The clang of metal swords colliding suddenly echoed throughout the forest, the sound easily reaching my pointed ears. There was no hesitation in Legolas as he ran into the forest after the ranger towards the sound of fighting. Gimli gathered his axe in his hands before joining the Elf.
I reached out to Svell, urging her to fly as fast as she possibly could. She acknowledged my request and I felt her drawing closer. I faced the three Hobbits, their faces scared. I knelt before them, making sure they paid attention to what I told them.
"It is imperative that you remain here. Hide if you must but do not go into the forest after us. We will return once everything is safe. Do you understand?" They nodded their heads but said nothing. "It will be okay, little ones," I stood up, letting a wave of ease wash over them from me. I noticed their shoulder relax ever so slightly before I turned and sprinted into the trees toward the sound of clanging metal and yells. The leaves that made up the treetops rustled from the wind of Svellevarina as she flew above me, following closely.
I entered a clearing in the forest where a stone structure was built on the hill, stone steps leading to a flat elevated surface. The three other members of the company were already present, fighting off the coming onslaught of orcs. Boromir, however, was not in sight, though I still sensed that he was still alive. I unsheathed my rider weapon, holding it out before me as I released a battle cry, plunging myself into the crowd of orcs. They were considerably taller than the creatures we fought in the Mines of Moria, their strength instantly noticeable. It presented a challenge, even for my speed and experience, as their thick armour proved more difficult to slice through. I made sure to take aim for areas of skin that were exposed.
With a snarl, an orc swung its weapon at my head. I ducked, swinging my blade from the left side in an arc to the right, sinking it deep into the back of its knees. I pulled the sword towards my chest, slicing through. It shrieked, falling to the ground as blood gushed out
Svellevarina roared, causing the fighting to pause as she dived down into the crowd of orcs, swinging her tail as she landed, sending those nearest her tumbling into the air. She snapped up a few in her jaws, snapping them in two as she bit down, her teeth having no trouble in piercing their armour.
"Find the halfling!" One of the orcs bellowed. "Find the halfling!"
A portion of the orcs bypassed us, running into the woods in search of Frodo. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli ran after them as I remained next to my dragon, taking on the orcs that attempted to join those that made it into the forest. A droplet of sweat ran down my forehead, and I drew upon the energy within the sparkling opal that rested within the hilt of my weapon. I extended my left hand as I cast a spell, the orcs closest to me dropping to the ground as their life left them, the remaining energy flowing into the gem on my weapon.
The sound of a horn resounded through the forest. I paused, turning towards the sound. I extended my mind to check on the status of the company. Fear and panic ripped through me. Boromir was in grave danger, and he wasn't alone. Somehow Merry and Pippin were both with him.
I ran into the forest as Svellevarina blocked the path of the orcs to me. I used my magic to kill any orcs that crossed my path as I raced towards Boromir's energy. I made it to where Legolas and Gimli were fighting an aggregation of orcs, Legolas was now making use of his daggers, his quiver of arrows empty. I swung my blade at an oncoming orc, the bloodied sword landing with a thud in its side. I pulled, letting it cut open the creature's flesh. It continued coming, thrusting it's angled weapon towards my chest. I jumped out of the way, the tip of the weapon just grazing above my collar bone near my shoulder. I hissed, clenching my teeth at the sting of the cut, extending my blade forward to stab through the orc's back. With a snarl, the orc's life left him, my weapon piercing its heart.
I gasped, as I clutched at my chest, a great pain ripping through me. I turned with my hand on my chest, looking around me. I turned, taking in the sight of Boromir further down the hill as an arrow stuck out from his chest. With a twang another arrow was released, landing in the man's stomach. He paused for only a moment before he kept on fighting, swinging at the orcs that neared him. I felt the fear of the Merry and Pippin as they watched Boromir defend them. I blocked my mind from Boromir's pain, charging forward in an attempt to reach him. Aragorn managed to first, though, taking on the orc that fired the arrows. Gimli had taken to wrestling an orc on the ground, beheading the creature with his axe. I continued to fight through the orcs, a group of them making it past Boromir and towards Merry and Pippin, sweeping them up off the ground and carrying them away. I yelled, releasing my energy to the orcs that were left here, using my magic to snap all of their necks. As they crumbled to the ground, I too fell on my knees. Boromir had fallen, three arrows protruding from his torso. Aragorn was at his side, his hand clasped tightly with Boromir's. I could feel Svellevarina's concern through our connection.
"I would have followed you, my brother, my captain, my king," Boromir said breathlessly to Aragorn. He choked slightly on his breath before his eyes focused on the trees that grew above him. His life left him at that moment, his grip on Aragorn's hand going limp.
"Be at peace, son of Gondor," Aragorn said softly before kissing his forehead. "They will look for his coming at the White Tower, but he will not return,"
Legolas stepped forward to help Aragorn carry him back towards the river. Gimli and I followed them until we reached the river bank, where Svellevarina met us. I stood next to her, relying on her for emotional strength. Boromir's body was laid within one of the canoes, his sword placed on his chest within his grip. Aragorn placed his broken horn within the canoe as well. We stood for a moment in silence before he pushed the canoe out onto the water where it was carried towards the waterfall. Svellevarina lifted her head to the sky, releasing a mournful roar. I offered a blessing for his soul, providing whatever guidance he may need to the gods that his people believed in.
Legolas grabbed hold of the remaining canoe. "Hurry! Frodo and Sam have reached the Eastern shore,"
I looked out across the lake to see the second canoe on the river bank. I could feel both Sam and Frodo, their intentions clear to me then.
Upon noticing that none of us had moved to join him, Legolas looked back to Aragorn. "You mean not to follow them,"
"Frodo's fate is no longer in our hands," Aragorn said simply.
"Then this has all been in vain," Gimli said beside me. He hung his head. "The Fellowship has failed,"
"Not if we hold true to each other," Aragorn replied, looking to each of us. "We will not abandon Merry and Pippin to torment and death, not while we have strength left. Leave all that can be spared behind, we travel light," His expression changed to one of fierce determination. "Let us hunt some orc,"
Gimli grinned wickedly. "Yes!"
Aragorn hoisted his pack over his shoulder, then took off into the forest. Gimli was quick to follow him, his grip on his bloodied axe tight.
I took a moment to ensure that the saddlebags were secured in place before wiping the gore from my weapon. I returned it to its sheath on my hip, looking out to the waterfall. My heart was heavy with loss. To feel the life leave Boromir was something no amount of training could have prepared me for. I leaned against Svell's side as I shuddered. The images of what occurred only moments before flashing before my eyes. The terror in the Hobbit's eyes as they were carried away. Oh, gods, they did not deserve this.
"Vilansia," Svellevarina said gently. "Come, we must go after them to prevent whatever danger awaits them,"
To be overcome with emotion was something I had never experienced before. Despite my Elvish nature, I could not find the words to communicate with my dragon and instead let my feelings speak for me. I felt her surprise for a moment before she forced her calm to wash over me.
A hand on my shoulder forced my attention to the world around me again. Legolas stood in front of me, concern clear on his face.
"We mustn't tarry, Vilansia," he said gently.
"Eka kenna," I replied, my voice brittle. I cleared my throat, forcing my shoulders back. "My apologies, Legolas. Come, let us catch up with the others,"
He paused a moment, giving me a knowing look. "There is no shame in having grief. This is a dark moment for the Fellowship," He looked up to Svell as if saying something to her as well. "Do not carry your sorrow with you, as there is hope yet," He squeezed my shoulder slightly before letting his hand fall back to his side. He smiled slightly, extending his left arm out to his side, gesturing for me to take to lead and catch up with the other two.
I swallowed thickly, letting Svellevarina's calm settle within me. I gave a determined nod, my jaw clenched and began to jog into the woods after the remainder of the Fellowship, Legolas close behind me. Svellevarina took to the air, remaining as close as possible to us. Boromir gave his life to protect Merry and Pippin. I would not allow his death to be in vain.

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime, books, movies or tv series)? Thanks....
The "..." is so ominous LMAO yeah of course! Gosh, of all time?? That's a big ask, I'll do my best to remember, but I'll inevitably forget one or two. This is a really great question though!
1) Sun Wukong from Journey to the West - is THE number one, like the rest of this list isn't a ranking except for this! I had this disc set of an animated series based on him that was only ever aired in China that I loved to death as a kid! Looking back, I definitely had gender envy towards this androgynous trickster/shape-shifter character even when I couldn't quite put it into words. I'm not one to kin characters, but he'd be the only one that comes close to it.
The rest in no particular order:
2) Percy Jackson - Very rarely do I find a main character that I absolutely adore! I love my demigod son and only want him to be happy
3) Kakashi and Rock Lee from Naruto - this is cheating but you knew Naruto characters were going to be on here and I can't choose between the two aogdkahaalval
4) Kikyo from Inuyasha - Listen. I know she's annoying as hell. Like every time Kagome and Inuyasha make any romantic progress she shows up and Inuyasha loses his shit. I get it. But I found her story beautifully tragic and really fell in love with the quiet strength she exuded. I cried when she finally passed away and got closure with him.
5) Midoriya Izuku from MHA - I've kinda fallen off the series lately, but he still remains one of my favourite protagonists! Such a kind and compassionate soul!
6) Arya from Eragon - does anyone remember the Inheritance cycle? Because that was my favourite fantasy series as a kid! Loved the badass elf lady and Eragon's hopeless crush on her lol
7) Zuko and Toph from Avatar - cheating again, I think this one's pretty self-explanatory
8) Hiccup from HTTYD - Ahhhh these movies are such a treasure!!
9) Jack Frost from RotG - this film was super formative for my understanding of what I value in storytelling! And I love how nuanced of a character he is. All of my favourite scenes are with him bringing joy to others despite his own sadness!
10) Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens - these two NEED to be a package deal, I literally just started watching the show and am already in love with their relationship. @everyone don't you dare send me spoilers rn 😭❤️
No dn characters made it onto the list but that's just because I enjoy more uplifting shows and books. Thanks for the fun ask!

kin languages! French is a big one for me (my mother in this life speaks a decent amount of French so that's been helpful), Gaelic, Japanese, and a few fictional languages as well ( the Na'vi language from Blue People Avatar movie the Middle Earth Elven language, and the Ancient Language from The Inheritance Cycle are the ones I can think of)

Cremation Services - Arrangements For the Final Disposal of a Loved One
Tumblr media
When a loved one is cremated, there are different options for the final disposition of their remains. These are discussed with a funeral specialist or consultant as part of the planning process.
Sending flowers to the funeral home can help to create an atmosphere of warmth and caring. This is especially true when the deceased was well loved and cared for by many. To know more about Cremation Services in Redlands, visit the Farewell Funerals website or call 0404660974.
The first step is to select an urn. These come in many different material selections from metal to glass and ceramic. Generally adult urns are larger and therefore have higher Redlands cremation urns cost than child urns.
After a basic body preparation (washing and disinfecting, closing the eyes and mouth and redressing), a viewing can be held before the cremation process. A religious service can also be held in a funeral home chapel if preferred by the deceased’s family.
The cremation itself takes place in a special furnace called a cremator. This is set to a cycle of heating, maximum burn, boost and cooling. This is done to ensure that all the bones are reduced to ash. During this time, the ashes are inspected for metal remnants from pins, screws and joints the deceased may have had surgically removed in life. These are removed by hand or with magnets and sent for recycling as part of the overall cremation process.
When a loved one is cremated, the remains are removed from the body and reduced to a fine powder, mostly grey in color. The ashes can be stored in an urn for display at home, kept within memorial garden furniture, scattered in a special place that was meaningful to the deceased or even interred in a cemetery plot.
A funeral service may be held immediately after the cremation or days or weeks later at a time when family members can gather to celebrate the life of their loved one. Whether you choose a funeral or memorial service, the urn of your loved one will be returned to you following the event.
A casket burial is also an option that can be accompanied by a graveside or chapel service and traditional ground burial. In addition, the urn of your loved one can be stored in a family plot, entombed within a mausoleum, or placed in an urn niche at a columbarium.
Farewell Funerals can help you make the final arrangements for your loved one. The process is much more streamlined than that of arranging a burial. It is also more affordable as you do not have to pay for the purchase of a grave site and its long-term upkeep.
The cremated remains may be scattered in a memorial garden, cemetery, over water or at any other meaningful location. They can also be stored in an urn. Some people prefer to scatter some of their loved ones ashes while keeping the rest in an urn in their home.
If you wish, you can hold a memorial service after the cremation. This is a very therapeutic event for family members who are mourning their loss and gives them an opportunity to share fond memories of the deceased. The memorial service can be held immediately after the cremation or days or weeks later at a time that is convenient for everyone.
The term next of kin is generally used to identify a person’s closest living relatives. These individuals can either be related by blood or have legal standing, such as spouses and adopted children. The specifics of determining next of kin and inheritance rights vary by country and jurisdiction.
In California, the legal next of kin are known as the intestate heirs and are defined as those closest to a decedent in terms of family relationships. They typically receive the largest portion of a deceased’s estate if a will does not exist.
Losing a loved one is incredibly difficult, especially when they die due to another’s wrongful actions.
