People have developed entire religions and doctrines to investigate what it means to die.

Funerary practices evolved alongside humanity, predating written language by leaps and bounds. Mourning predated speech.

It's something he's steeped himself in since Lavender Town, and Death doesn't scare him.

Maybe that's why he can't... feel sad when he lingers on the sounds of his travel companions either sobbing or grabbing emergency equipment while the bloodied mountain snow surrounds him.

Death to him had always (he's died thrice now) felt like something pulling on his consciousness until it melted. His soul had the consistency of soft cream in the sensation, no pain, nothing...

Cause of death? Exsanguination. He'd been killed on the mountain by that accursed monster, his Pokémon partners unable to defend him while his companions lashed out to avenge him.

Part of him was so horridly relieved, and the other part of him that trusted them to keep him alive and safe?

That part of him ached for those people in the living world. He couldn't reach for them, either, drifting further into the complacent ether where his soul felt like it fit.

Don't let me die. Please. You are still here. Will you remember me if I do?

Time passed. He knew it was passing, though it felt like an eternity. And then there was a yanking sensation in his body, a sudden jolt, and so much pain.

He choked, eyes blinking dried blood off his lashes. The blurred shapes of people were obscured by salty, pained tears and the grotesque overbearing white. He was so cold.

Probably Kieran, I get trying to compare yourself to someone and always coming up short to the point where you feel frustrated. So I’m sure we would have things to talk about.

As for who I would dislike in real life…

May I introduce you to Yomi, Director of the Peacekeepers from Rain Code. While I enjoy role playing as him, if he were to exist in reality I would probably hide in fear, he’s insane. Torture, imprisonment, threats, blowing places up…etc. I could go on but you get the idea.

okay the obvious answers are yveltal and volcanion. though honestly i think xerneas fits him more than yveltal does any day. that being said, i think there's one that fits as well:

reshiram. the dragon of truth, of fire. i think this is a really interesting pick and one that makes kinda too much sense :') something i try to keep absolute is that lysandre doesn't lie. he tries to be as truthful as possible, even if those truths are often blinding and atrocious. plus there's something to be said about:

Her very first Pokémon, captured as a Clefairy on Mt. Moon when Lusamine was 10 years old. She absolutely had the opportunity to pick one of the starters from the professor, due to her privileged status, but her parents declined. Lusamine’s parents wanted their daughter to be proficient at the capture and taming methods, and so they expected her to catch her own starter partner. Because of her steady movements and calm demeanor, Lusamine was able to catch the shy monster rather easily, with a simply toss of a Poké Ball after indulging in a brief round of ‘hide-and-seek’ in the tunnels of the mountain.

Clefairy was out of her ball almost constantly, joining Lusamine in her classes, on her outings, and everywhere in between. Because of that, the Clefairy earned a studious reputation, and picked up some of the habits of the instructors.

Clefable’s personality is bright, cheery, playful and confident, but also knows when to take things seriously for her trainer. In battle, however, Clefable is. . . . An asshole. She knows she is strong. She doesn’t pretend like she isn’t, and she will Moonblast you to kingdom come. Metronome is also a delight to use, and she thinks it’s funny when she gets access to Gigaton Hammer.

More fun facts:

She is the evolved form of the Clefairy from the Clefairy Says mini game in Pokémon Stadium.

Clefable is actually a fully functioning employee of the Aether Foundation. She makes sure everyone's uniform is in order, and if it's not, she'll write you up and bonk you on the head with a hammer.

Her personality is loosely based on Harime Nui from Kill la Kill.

She can use a faery glamour to appear human.

I held off on this because at the time I didn't have much going on aside from Airplane which everyone already knew about lol. Now I've fallen in to Lemony Snicket hell and I'm reading through the books to see how they differ from the Netflix show. I'm only on book three, but thus far, Olaf is less comical and more menacing in the books. There are also things in the Netflix series that just don't even seem mentioned like Eleanora Poe and The Daily Punctilio. It's not one of those "the books are better" situations, but they are definitely different. Either way, this series is really interesting commentary about how kids in abusive situations are often just dismissed when they try and speak up and how institutions meant to protect them so often fail.

In other news, I also got a rock tumbler so I could polish some of the cool rocks I find out here lol.

The cluster at the top is banded agate, below it on the right is jasper, two pieces of petrified wood at the bottom and fusulinid fossils on the left. I don't know what the round rock is made of, but sometimes I find these spherical concretions so I threw one in just to see what happened lol. It pretty much just got smaller and smoother, but not very shiny lol.

a nation has watched him purposefully leap off a very literal tower, in a fit of heroics, in a trajectory towards a very literal ground of, what was it, concrete ?? asphalt ?? he was caught then. a gust of wind, he'll be caught again. he's been caught at lower heights. someone's always caught him. if he doesn't fight the momentum of this infinite fall, he'll be caught again.

what's the harm in not watching his step, here, at the apex of everything ?? he made it here once.

& oh, he loves it here.

but the climb was heady, & the detox from it makes him ever - so easy ... to ... just ...

i'm sorry gio for this hornet nest you have poked ily I'M GONNA SOUND EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE IN THIS BUT DW I'M FINE I'M OKAY I'M JUST PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS CHARACTER IN A WAY THAT ALTERS MY MENTAL STATE

it's the WHOLE fucking umbrella of giovanni simping. and really the SIMPING, and reducing his entire personality to that and only that. maybe it's just difficult to get right or something? it is a delicate balance. like whatever if someone makes a joke about it it's funny and i love the jokes i get here about it in moderation because i know my friends and mutuals UNDERSTAND it's not all there is. and ic reactions are a different thing entirely bc the dynamic/their reputation to outsiders may present the bond between them like that.

i see it more as archer's personal lack of self-worth and his need to be flawless and perfect and his flawed sense of self-destructive loyalty, and who else he could project that onto than his boss who literally saved his life and elevated him from a dirt poor street rat into one of the most brutal, skilled and sought after criminals in the kanto-johto area. archer doesn't follow his order blindly, he may even challenge his order if he thinks there's a better/more efficient way, because there's a deep sense of trust and understanding between them.

i'm just gonna go ahead and blame pokéspe for this simp culture because what the fuck look how they massacred my boy in it. overall pokéspe used the execs to finish the d/p storyline which i'm endlessly mad and bitter about but won't get into bc it's not part of this but y'know.

and like yeah. i know. this is a pretty insignificant character in a large scale so many people just don't take it as dead serious as i do in my deranged mind space. for most people it's just funnies. i understand. good for them. but i'm still gonna be salty about it.

fanons have a funny way of reducing a character's entire personality to one line of dialogue or one personality trait and giving them nothing else. in comparison to proton (who i fucking adore and you know it it ain't about that and proton's popular fanon takes have a TON of issues too that i could yell about for hours, but this is just for an example) archer often gets the 'prissy stick in the mud uwu pathetic simp wet dog boy' treatment while proton gets the 'cool sexy badass murder man' one. there's a funny divide between the english and japanese fanons in this because japanese fanons often get it better. if i sound like a gatekeeper with this character it's because i am (i'm joking i do like different takes on him but not the 'simp and NOTHING else' stuff it makes me explode).

(( I probably have the least interesting answer for this — but my ex got me into Monster Prom by convincing me that there was a pink fish princess character known for doing war crimes, and while I've written only Miri long enough that this might be less obvious, that's very much my character type that I fairly universally love!
