Deadpool and Outlaw VS Dog-Thing
Deadpool (Wade Wilson), Outlaw (Inez Temple) and Diamondback (Rachel Leighton) are walking through the cave as they investigate over the disappearances of the Morlocks and the rumors of the monster. Then, they are attacked by the zombified humans and mutants in the cave. Deadpool, Outlaw and Diamondback fought them off until they reach the tunnel. Diamondback stays behind while Deadpool and Outlaw continue their journey to investigate further. As they reach the end of the tunnel, Deadpool and Outlaw see a dog sitting there in the room. However, there is something wrong with this "dog" as it is surrounded with skeletons of the victims in the room. Deadpool is wary of the "dog" while Outlaw did not want to shoot it as she found it cute. Then, the "dog" reveals itself as the monster that was the cause of the disappearance of the Morlocks. The Dog-Thing lures its victims with its cuteness before devouring them. Since Outlaw is shooting around madly from being hypnotized by the Dog-Thing, Deadpool covers his eyes with his spare underwear to prevent himself from getting lured in. Deadpool shoots the Dog-Thing (and Outlaw who is bulletproof) until the monster is dead. After minutes of gunfire, Deadpool and Outlaw are exhausted as well as the latter (Outlaw) had snapped herself out of her trance.

i, enjoyer of the comic books Domino and Domino: Hotshots by Gail Carriger and also the novels Domino: Strays and Outlaw: Relentless by Tristan Palmgren, and specifically Domino’s Posse, have a declaration to make:
it is absolutely VITAL that at some point, over drinks, Diamondback told Domino and Outlaw about the events of Cable & Deadpool issue #20 by Fabian Nicieza.

X-Pitch: HOTSHOTS
Tumblr media
Finally off X-Force, Domino decides she needs some relaxation and fun. And she can’t think of anyone better to provide that than her old friend, Outlaw! However, to her shock, Outlaw’s lost her spirit. She partied herself out non-stop in the early days of Krakoa, and now nothing seems fun anymore. So instead, Domino’s new mission is to get both of them back into the spirit of things, and to do that, she decides to reform her old team, the HOTSHOTS, consisting of the two of them and their bestie, Diamondback.
When they give Rachel a call though, she doesn’t pick up. For days. Eventually, they decide they need to investigate, and in case something’s actually happened to her, Domino decides to bring Transonic for backup, the two having bonded over having had the worst bosses (with Laurie eventually admitted, somehow, that Beast was worse than Hope). Narratively, Laurie is here because putting a girl who hates guns on a team with Domino is just fun.
With issue 1 ending with them heading off on their quest, issue 2 primarily consists of the three investigating, discovering the Serpent Society was somehow involved, believing they’ve captured Rachel, looking for revenge, and subsequently beating the tar out of many of their goons. The issue ends with the three being captured. And here they learn that Rachel hasn’t been captured by the Society, but rejoined and has become one of its new leaders, alongside Veronica Eden, now going by Lilith. And she’s oh so happy to see her best friends again after how they abandoned her.
Tumblr media
Veronica is still determined to kill every superpowered being on the planet, and since Hydra didn’t work out, she took over the Serpent Society. Meanwhile, after the Hotshots broke up, and Domino and Outlaw moved to Krakoa, never calling or writing, her life fell apart, she fell back into villany, with her talent, fun personality, and open hatred for Krakoa all drawing Veronica’s attention, and eventually leading to her becoming her right hand. Rachel doesn’t actually WANT to kill every super in the world, let along all Mutants, but this is the best job she’s gonna get, and she knew it would eventually at least lead to getting her revenge on Neena and Inez. And she’s more than happy to let her replacement, Laurie, suffer with them.
Domino tries reaching out to Rachel, apologizing for never getting in touch and saying how she doesn’t need to do this, while Outlaw is 100% convinced Rachel’s been brainwashed, unwilling to accept her bestie’s gone genocidal.
Rachel ignores Inez, simply calling her an idiot, and instead responds to Neena, who she thinks has no room to talk to her about “right and wrong” with what she’s been up to, Eden having gotten her hands on the details of X-Force’s activities, the nature of which, as she goes over them, horrifies Inez and Laurie.
Imprisoned and awaiting whatever’s coming next, Domino can do nothing but express regret for her actions, for all her actions, with Inez getting more supportive overtime as she sees just how much pain Neena is in, while Laurie is beating herself up for thinking a nation as powerful as Krakoa wouldn’t have its own CIA, going on a long , Autistic schpeel about evil intelligence agencies around the world.
Laurie does have a question for Inez though: Domino, misguided as she was, has at least genuinely been busy. Why didn’t *she* ever get in touch with Rachel?
And Inez admits she has no good answer. Domino got lost in the idea of protecting Krakoa, but she got lost in its safety, and she just forgot about the rest of the world, and that not everyone had it as good as they did.
When Veronica and Rachel return, Neena and Inez try their hardest to apologize together, being far more open than last time. It actually looks like they’re starting to get through to her, until Inez makes the mistake of staying that if she helps them stop this, they could maybe even get her a home on Krakoa, which only pisses Rachel off further for thinking she’d want that.
Veronica admits that despite earlier dramatics, she really has no plans in place that are ready to go, and she was really hoping she’d think of something to do with these two, but alas. So, since she can’t kill them, she’s just gonna let her trusty #2 make the call.
Rachel decides since they can’t kill them, they’ll just keep them as prisoners. And they’ll see if anyone on their island doesn’t just forget about them like they forgot about her.
I don’t ACTUALLY know how to wrap this up, so...to be continued lol

yknow what. fuck it. cringe is dead. i killed and buried it. let me be free.
i made a hazbin hotel self insert in the year of our lord 2024.
Tumblr media
this is inez, they are always failing their perception checks. they do not notice that someone is manipulating them until it is smacking them in the face. val offered them a job and pushed just the slightest bit, and they immediately sold their soul to him. (they may have accidentally developed a crush on him that they know is Very Unhealthy, and it haunts them daily.)
angel told them one (1) time that moving to the hotel would be a good way for them to get some distance from val, and they were already packing their bags ready to go. they don’t really drink on their own, but they are always bothering husk at the bar, sipping their virgin shirley temples. genuinely they are ‘fuck around and find out’ personified. they are very insecure they they don’t have antlers despite being a deer person, (they have been informed many times that that’s because only male deer have antlers, but they refuse to accept that as an explanation) so anytime they see alastor they BEG him to give them antlers. he always refuses. they have weekly ‘sleepovers’ with charlie where they do each others nails, do skin care, and charlie vents about all her problems while inez listens intently.
whenever they see vox they bombard him with questions about his head. “can you change what’s on the screen? can you play music? can i watch cable on your face? IS THERE A PORN CHANNEL ON YOUR FACE? do you play asmr videos on your face to sleep? do you have your own tv, or do you just stand in front of a mirror and watch it on your head?” vox hates every second of it, and only tolerates it because of val.
speaking of val, any adventurous/taboo content he wants to film, he always casts inez. they never really complain or object, and usually they have a pretty good time! if val didn’t work them to double death, and generally be a piece of shit, inez would really like their job! they love meeting new people, and what’s a better way to connect with someone than filming a porno with them?! they have filmed a couple of videos with angel, but typically they aren’t cast together. both of them are too bottomy.
i could go on, but you get the point :]

Deal With The Devil, Chapter 3
Word Count: 2.2k
Warnings: slight angst, mentions of aggression/violence, throwing things at people.
Tumblr media
“Well, Stark…it sounds like you have a deal!” Steve smiled, downing his own drink.  The two men shook hands and Inez huffed from the bar.
“So, what now?” she growled, “we get married by a JP or have a big gigantic wedding where everyone pretends to get along?”
Steve looked at his soon-to-be bride from across the table and he shrugged, “it depends…how do you feel about premarital sex?”
“Steve…” Tony growled, his tone becoming a warning one.
“I’m joking, Tony…come on…” Steve grinned playfully as he clapped his soon to be brother-in-law on the back, “I’ll take her virginity after we get married.  I’m not an animal!”
She sneered at him, “you’re disgusting.”
He chuckled and crossed his arms over his chest, “you take things too seriously, Inny…”
“Don’t call me that,” she hissed, her nose scrunching up at how he so easily called her by the nickname that Tony had given her when they were children, “you don’t get to call me that, Rogers.”
“Ohh, the last name,” he chuckled sarcastically, “you know, you’ll be a Rogers soon.  Calling me by my last name to distance yourself won’t do much, Inez.”
“Trust me…there’s not enough distance in this planet…”
“Maybe we should let Steve and Inez get to know each other…” Pepper suggested, “have them go out on a few dates bef-“
“Pass!” Inez sneered, cutting Pepper off, “seriously?  Can’t I just marry Peter? I mean it’s not like he’s your brother.  He’s your cousin.  There’s no relation between him and I.  It’s not like we are brother and sisters-in-law.”
“Inez…you’re going to marry Steve,” Tony sighed as his hands started rubbing his temples, “I’ve already explained this.  You marrying Steve will allow the three remaining original families to keep the peace in our boroughs while those idiots murder each other.  I’m doing it to ensure the safety of our people.  So please don’t make this harder than it has to be.  Please.”
“I have to be at the club…few meetings tonight, so I can’t do any ‘dates’ per se,” Steve shrugged, “but I could move her into my place immediately…she could get the lay of the land, before I lay with her…”
“Excuse me?”
“What?” Pepper asked, “Move her in with you? Tony-“
“What did I just say about the sex jokes, Rogers?” Tony sighed.
“Don’t take it personally, or do, I don’t care,” Steve shrugged before looking at Inez once more, “but I feel like if I let you out of my sight after our lovely little engagement idea tonight, you’ll hop on the first flight you can to hide from me, my little bird.  Flighty little thing…that’s the vibe I get from you!”
Tony chuckled, knowing from the look in his sister’s eye that she had been thinking exactly that.  But she tried to hide the expression from her face as she shook her head at Steve, “What?  That’-That’s crazy.  Who would do something like that?”
“I’m good at reading people, Inez…” Steve said simply, giving his future bride a knowing look, “I helped one of my best friend’s sisters disappear because of a particularly brutal engagement.  I don’t need my pretty little wife doing the same because she doesn’t like the way I speak.”
“I’m not your wife…”
“Not yet,” he admitted with another simple shrug, “but you will be.  I intend on getting you to that altar…and then doing the dirtiest of things behind closed doors once you are my wife.”
She grimaced.
And Steve smiled.
Tony’s glass nearly cracked from the amount of pressure he was putting on it, trying not to reach across the table and punch the man who was talking about doing things to his sister.
“We can have Inez’ stuff packed up and sent to your home so that by the time the two of you are finished with your night out on the town it’s there,” Pepper said softly, putting her hand over Tony’s, “we can all make this work with a little effort…right?”
“Yeah…sure…”Tony grumbled.
Inez looked away from her sister-in-law, and brother, towards the man that she was going to be marrying.  Steve puckered his lips and teased a kiss.
She looked away from him and to the ground, a tear slipping down her cheek.
“Sounds good to me.  Thank you for all of your generosity, Tony…as promised, I’ll make sure that none of my men are involved and that Brooklyn stays out of whatever fight happens between Staten Island and The Bronx.” Steve said quickly, standing from his spot at the table.  He walked over to where Inez was sitting and lifted her cheek, wiping away the lone tear, “don’t cry, Inez…you are not a caged bird.  And I will not harm you.  You’ll see that I can be a very good husband.  All joking aside, I do have some decorum.”
“You’re a self-righteous ass, Steve Rogers.”
“And soon enough I’m going to be your self-righteous ass, Inez,” he said softly, his fingers trailing down her cheek, before falling away from her face.  He gave her another soft smile, before holding his hand out to her, “come on…we have to get back to the club.  I have other meetings to attend to, and I want to get you settled first.”
“Are you alright?” he asked once more as another one of his generals left his office, “I could get someone to bring you a drink…or some food.  I know that we didn’t have a chance to grab dinner before-“
She gave him another frown as she crossed her arms from the large couch behind and off to the side of his desk, “does it really matter what I say that I want, Steve?”
“Of course it does,” he answered with his own frown, “you’re going to be my wife, Inez.  I want you to be taken care of.  All jokes aside, I mean that.  I really do.”
“Then don’t make me marry you…stay out of whatever war is going to happen because it’s the right thing to do.”
“But if I do that, Tony and Peter will cut me out of whatever territory doesn’t get carved up by the fighting,” he noted, “keeping you by my side ensures that they keep me in the fold.  After all, you should know that.  You don’t leave family out in the cold, hungry and alone.  You and Tony seem close.”
“We are…”
“And it’ll stay that way,” he reminded her, “don’t be mad at your brother for what he’s doing.  You know he probably could have done worse.”
“I’ve heard of you,” she admitted softly, “well, your father.”
“My father was a ruthless asshole,” he admitted with a frown, “but his results weren’t anything to be laughed at.”
“Your territory is small.”
“Small but effective…”
She nodded and gave him a guilty look as her stomach grumbled, “I-I might be a little hungry.”
“I can have the kitchen whip something up for you.”
“You aren’t going to eat?” she asked softly.  Steve nearly dropped the phone that he’d picked up as he looked back at her.  His brow raised and she pulled her arms tight around herself, “Wh-what?”
“Since when did you start caring about me?” he teased playfully with a scoff.
She frowned, and her cold exterior pushed back out into the room, “I don’t.”
“Says the girl who just asked if I was going to eat too.”
“As far as I know you haven’t eaten today…I mean, I didn’t see you eat anything…” she shrugged dismissively, “I was trying to be nice…dick.”
Steve chuckled, enjoying the back and forth ever so slightly, as not many in his inner circle had the audacity to be a little rough around the edges with him.
“I haven’t.”
“Well, you should…” she said simply, as though that would end the conversation, “eat I mean…”
“You know…people don’t normally do things like that for me…remind me to eat or-“
“Well, they should…mob boss or not, you’re still a human.  And you still need to eat meals to survive, Steve.”
“Be careful…I might start to think that you care about me…”
“I don’t…”
“What do you want to eat, Inny?”
“Don’t call me that,” she grumbled softly, looking away from him.  Steve continued to watch her for a moment, and she sighed, mumbling under her breath, “pizza…”
“Not a salad?”
Her head shot up, and her brow raised.
Steve could feel the tension lighting up the room, “if you’re one of those guys…you can cut the bullshit right now!”
“One of what guys?”
“I don’t spend my days eating nothing but salad and doing fad diets,” she hissed as her arms wrapped even tighter around herself, “and if you insinuate that I need to-“
“I’m not,” he said quickly, laughing as he cut her off, “just…most women don’t have real appetites around me…it’s refreshing…”
“You’re eating it too!” she huffed, “I want pepperoni.”
“Yes ma’am,” Steve chuckled as he called downstairs, telling them he wanted a pizza and a few cokes, “anything else, my queen?”
“You could drop the sarcasm!” she commented dryly.
“Have someone pick up something that’s chocolate and extremely sweet…I think the wife might be hitting her time of the month.”
Steve almost didn’t dodge the heel that was thrown at him as he hung up his phone.
Sam wasn’t so lucky as it managed to catch him in the thigh as he opened the door.
“You have horrible aim!” Steve laughed, smirking at her.
“Well, I don’t exactly spend my time throwing things at assholes!” she growled.
“Steve, stop riling up your future wife!” Sam frowned, rubbing his thigh, “she throws those shoes really hard.”
“I’m sorry!” Inez frowned, feeling bad over hitting one of Steve’s men, when the shoe had been meant for her fiancé.
“It’s okay, sweetheart,” Sam shrugged, “I understand that Steve can be a lot sometimes…trust me.  I grew up with him.  I’ve seen women throw a lot of things at him.”
Steve frowned as Inez giggled, and he didn’t like the fact that Sam had developed such an easy back and forth with her.
“Is there something you needed, Sam?”
“Barnes has been messaging me.  There hasn’t been any movement in their territory.”
Steve shrugged, “so?”
“He doesn’t want to spend any more time out there than necessary.”
“Fine,” Steve sighed, “have him pick up the pizza I ordered from downstairs and across the street for me and Inez.”
“Pizza?” Sam questioned his friend and boss, “since when do you eat pizza, boss?”
Steve frowned his brow furrowing as he answered Sam, “I eat pizza.”
“Steve, I’ve worked for you since I came up.  We grew up together and I’m your second in command,” Sam chuckled, “and not once have I’ve never seen you eat anything unhealthy…let alone eat pizza.”
Inez smirked and crossed her arms, “you eat salads all the time, don’t you?”
“Steve’s diet is drinks and the occasional fruit that comes in them!” Sam chuckled, “that or the meal prepping that Barnes does for him.  He’s gonna be pissed that you’re eating pizza.”
“That punk will get over it,” Steve shrugged, “have him pick it up.  And I guess he can meet Inez too…all of you need to be aware of who she is and that it’s your jobs to protect her just like you’d protect me.”
“If they hate you, you’re just giving them a reason to hate me too!” she frowned.
Steve gave her a sad look as he turned to glance at her, “are you insinuating that my people don’t like me?”
“I don’t…and I’m apparently ‘your people,’ so….”
“Correction, Inez…you’re my wife.  You’re not ‘my people,’ so you don’t count!”
“Correction!” she mocked, shaking her head at him, “not yet…you know you settled into the idea of being married to me pretty quickly, Steve…I guess I’m not so ugly after all.”
Sam couldn’t stop his laughter and Steve gave him another firm look, “did you need something else, Sam?”
“Oh no…I’m good,” Sam chuckled, putting his phone into his pocket after he texted Bucky about the food, “but this…this is comedic gold, right here.  Your future wife is gonna keep you in line for sure.”
“You can go, Sam…thank you!” Steve frowned.
Sam gave his boss another nod before leaving the room, and Inez threw her other shoe, albeit a little softer.
It did hit Steve this time.
Right between his shoulder blades.
He turned from his chair and looked at the barefoot woman curled up on his couch.  She gave him an innocent look.
“What?” he asked, slightly irritated with her.
“I’m tired…”
He huffed before taking off his suit’s jacket and tossing it beside her on the couch, “use your arm as a pillow…I’ll wake you up when the food gets here.”
“There’s no pillows or blankets, or-“
“You know, you’re awfully needy for someone who doesn’t want me or anything to do with me.”
“Yeah…well you’re-“
“I’m what…”
“I don’t know,” she huffed with a frown, “I’m tired and hungry…and not sober…leave me alone.”
“Take a nap, Inny…”
“I told you to stop calling me that,” she mumbled, curling up under Steve’s jacket.  He chuckled as she yawned, and she pouted from behind closed eyes, “stop laughing at me, jerk.”

7. Grandparents.
It was the first time Ivy Nicole's been home in awhile. These days all her time is spent at school, hidden away from the world. She was glad to be home, even if that meant that she'd be stuffed into a car with her brothers going for a long road trip. Carson City. Ugh. A six hour drive to go see a grandma that has nothing but mean things to say to her. Ivy Nicole doesn't get it. Her grandma treats her like garbage, her one grandkid that's actually trying to better herself, be good and God-fearing the way she wants and she tears her apart every chance she had.
Her grandma had always liked Dominic more. Which Ivy Nicole has never understood. Dominic is a piece of shit. He's barely functional and he's 20 years old. Ivy Nicole is only 16, and yet she can take care of herself.
"Ivy Nicole, straighten out your shirt. It's driving me nuts." Ivy’s mom, Inez said, peering through the rearview mirror.
Ivy Nicole rolled her eyes and tried to straighten out her clothes the best she could. She's wedged in between her brothers, and neither brother is letting her move. Luckily Dominic is skinny as hell. She has a little bit of room.
"Leave her alone, we still have hours until we get to abuela's house." Brian, Ivy Nicole's 24 year old brother sighed, waving dismissively at his mom.
"It won't kill her to to make sure she's dressed properly. Now, when we get there you know the drill." Inez looked over at her husband and their father, Bennie, who was driving.
"Be good." Bennie said with a firm nod.
"Yes, be good. Be polite. Say 'por favor y gracias' okay? Speak Spanish if she speaks Spanish to you. You get it, you get it." Inez said as she smoothed out her dress.
Ivy Nicole rolled her eyes. She hates how on edge her mom gets whenever they go see her mother. No matter what they do, they're never good enough. Her dad is apparently not a good dad, he works too hard. Her mom isn't a good mom, wasn't a good daughter, so on and so forth. Her older brother, Brian is a waste. Already married with three kids. He never stood a chance, her grandma would say. He's a "Harris" and Harrises amount to nothing. Then there's Dominic. Her angel. She claims she loves him so much because he never claimed to be anything he wasn't. Then there's Ivy Nicole. 16. A mistake, as her grandmother has so lovingly referred to her. When she isn't calling her a deviant, a blasphemer. She practically scoughs at the sight of Ivy Nicole. It's a terrible feeling.
"Don't roll your eyes, Ivy Nicole! I ask *one thing* of you! One!" Inez exclaimed, whipping around to look her her daughter.
Ivy Nicole nodded her head quickly, feeling her eyes line with tears.
"Oh God! Not the tears! Always the tears!" Her mom groaned, rubbing her temples.
Dominic reached over and held Ivy Nicole in his arms. He let her cry into him, whispering to her that she’s alright.

What the River Knows review
Tumblr media
4/5 stars Recommended if you like: Egypt, Death on the Nile, archeology, adventure Thank you to Netgalley, Wednesday Books, and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review! I really wanted this to be 5 stars. The premise is so intriguing and Egypt has so much interesting history, both on its own and in relation to archeology. Unfortunately, this is a book where I'm not really sure how I feel about it, so it's 4 stars right now but might drop down later. The first half of the book lives up to expectations. We get Inez traveling to Egypt and using her wits to tag along on her uncle's excavation. I loved the descriptions of Cairo and the Nile and Phillae. There's so much culture and lush imagery, it's easy to become engrossed in the setting and story. Unfortunately, after that the plot doesn't focus as much on archeology and Egypt as it should. We do get multiple excavation/temple/tomb scenes, but I wanted more of them. I wanted a true exploration of being on an archeological site and discovering these big things and worrying over tomb raiders. Instead, we get more focus on personal relationships (or lack thereof). The story was also fairly predictable. I wasn't entirely sure at first, but once Inez got to Cairo I felt more certain of what I suspected. Then, later on when the first half of my theory was revealed, it was also immediately obvious that the rest of it was too and I got to sit with a feeling of utter dread while Inez just went with things despite the signs pointing to a bad conclusion. That being said, I can actually understand why Inez didn't question things as much as she should've, and why when she did question things, she dismissed her own instincts. Like, honestly, I think anyone probably would in that situation. This is one of the few cases where I think things being predictable for the reader and not for the character actually makes sense...I just wish the predictability was less subtle so I didn't have to spend 30% of the book waiting for the other shoe to drop. One thing that really bothered me was that the whole mess with the grave goods was framed as being wholly Inez's fault. Like, was she being extremely dumb? Absolutely. Is it understandable? Also yes. And is it especially understandable because her uncle kept lying to her and hiding the truth? 100%. Half of the mess would've been avoided if Tío Ricardo had simply told Inez what he'd suspected and dealt with the potential fallout of that. Instead, he kept secrets and lied (and it was fairly obvious this was setting up to be a miscommunication trope) and then got angry with Inez when she didn't magically know who their enemies were. Not just him, Abdullah also got upset with her, though not as much as Tío Ricardo....but Abdullah also wasn't telling her shit. Like, a single conversation in Cairo, as upsetting as it would've been, would've literally circumvented this whole thing and instead everyone blames Inez. As for the characters. Inez is great in the first half of the story. She's got a lot of spunk and a desire for the truth. She's fairly good at getting herself in and out of any situation, which comes in handy. But for someone so interested in Egypt, she doesn't really seem to know that much about it. I actually liked Isadora, and I'm not really sure what Whit's problem with her is (though I'm sure it will get revealed in book 2). She and Inez make a formidable team and I would've liked to see them interact more. Her dad can be awful and kind of gruff, but Isadora seems to manage him fairly well. Whit is...mainly annoying, imo. Inez wants the two of them to be friends, and while they're in Cairo he seems fairly normal, but so much of the story involves him being secretive or lying or just being annoying and pushing Inez away. It gets frustrating after a while. We also get to see things from his POV, but they're mostly small snippets and single scenes. I think it would've worked better if we'd gotten chapters or half-chapters from his POV or if it had been excluded altogether. Some of his POV scenes provide helpful information, but the way it's written now it mostly just seems like he has a POV because Ibañez couldn't figure out how to provide the information any other way. Tío Ricardo had the potential to be a fantastic character. The first scene where they're all at dinner makes him seem really promising, and it definitely appears as though he cares about Egyptian history and the injustices being wrought by the British and French. However, a lot of that is overshadowed by how secretive he is and just downright awful he can be to Inez. He sort of redeems himself toward the end and shows that he truly cares about her, but it still doesn't make up for the rest of the book. I didn't realize that this book was part of a duology. I thought it was a standalone like her previous book. This book really didn't need a sequel. The way it stands now, there's obviously things left unfinished that require a sequel, but if the book had been cleaned up a little, I really think a full story and arc could've been told within the one book. Certain parts of the book are dragged out and probably could've been cut in favor of finishing the story satisfactorily. And honestly, what's left of the plot doesn't really feel like it could fill a whole second book. Also, what was that ending? Things were already fine without that INEZ FELL FOR IT note. It adds a layer to the story that it absolutely does not need. There are already so many complicated relationships and crossing and double-crossing, the book doesn't need more. I was actually somewhat interested in a sequel before reading the epilogue, but once I read it just kind of felt 'meh.' It's too much going on and I'm not really interested in seeing more of Inez getting lied to and then falling flat on her face when everyone else's lying is revealed.
