Whilst reading Crooked Kingdom again, I stumbled upon a totally underrated Wesper moment:

Chapter 18: Kaz, the scene where Kaz and Wylan are standing in Van Ecks office with the safe

"How would I run an empire?" asked Wylan. "I can't read a ledger or a bill or lading. I can't write a purchase order. My father is wrong about a lot of things but he's right about that. I'd be a laughing stock."

"So pay someone to do that work for you."

"Would you?" asked Wylan, his chin jutting forward. "Trust someone with that knowledge with a secret that could destroy you?"

Yes, thought Kaz without hesitation. There's one person I would trust. One person I know would never use my weakness against me.

So, obviously, Kaz' trust in Inej is so amazing. He loves her, trusts her.

But can we talk about what this scene means for Wesper for a second? Wylan believes that having someone read for him, do these jobs for him would be giving that person the tools to destroy him. He can never imagine running his father's empire because he could never have anyone cose enough to trust them with this kind of knowledge. He will not let anyone read to him, because it would put him in danger.

And then, at the end of the book, this changes. Wylan's walls in this instance were torn down, by Jesper: Jesper wiggled his way into Wylan's heart, earned his trust, and Wylan, who has never done this before, lets down his guard and gives Jesper his absute trust. He loves and trusts Jesper so much that he unlearns the things he always believed about himself, and allows himself to be vulnerable - for jesper.

This is my absolut comfort ship.

Thank you! I truly think it's those little details that make you fall in love with characters. The little contradictions and specificities make them feel so real. Good characters invite analysis and engagement.

With the three crows that haven't appeared in the comic yet, I'm still working out those little details. For the original three, I made sure to keep in the details from the book and add some new ones that weren't mentioned (some I haven't even shown yet), so I'd like to do the same with Nina, Matthias, and Wylan. Lots of doodles to make! Absolutely love drawing Kaz, but I'm already missing drawing Inej and Jesper in Ch 3. I'll have to make some sort of illustration for the pdf release.

i want to take a moment from my venting to highlight the positive aspects of the show

Freddy and Amita were absolutely sensational as Kaz and Inej, their chemistry could not have lit up the screens more- they care so much about their characters, they are their characters and there is no one who could have portrayed them as beautifully and perfectly as them

Wesper were also everything and I didn’t mind the changes to their stories- Kit and Jack also had great chemistry and we got some good moments

Calahan as Matthias was criminally underused but for the few scenes we got to see him morph into the Matthias we are introduced to in Six of Crows- he seemed so much more settled, dark, perfectly conveying the nuances of the sacrifices of Matthias’s character and what is done to him in Hellgate- he was imposing and it makes me sad how little we saw him and Nina

Nikolai, Tolya and Tamar were perfectly cast- and despite my initial distrust of Nikolai’s characterisation based on the sneak peeks- Patrick did a great job conveying Nikolai’s charm and his darkness, sincerity and passion for the throne- Tolya and Tamar were just perfect- EVERYTHING about them- again- underused and it makes me sad we didn’t get a serious enough look at their backstory - them being duplicitous to Alita due to them being part of the cult of the sun saint etc/

Alina and Mal’s chemistry was phenomenal - it was perfect and tender - Archie Renaux said MAL RIGHTS and it paid off a thousand times over- the way Mal was portrayed down to him being the Firebird- his loyalty to Alina, his loss everything, his portrayal of Mal was better and more sincere than the books and all of their moments felt amazing- shame the writers ruined any sincerity of their ending

The Kanej moments we did get and some of the scenes- thoroughly enjoyed

I thought it was smart some of the ways in which the timelines were combined and given the fact I think the writers knew we would not be getting a third season - I did appreciate the attempts to try and shove everything together

Daisy Head BODIED genya’s acting- her chemistry with David wasn’t great but with the limited exposure to her trauma they gave her- it worked out well

best costuming department ever- not a single one of the character’s fits ddi not live up to expectation and beyond - THE DETAILING on the keftas, inej’s leather boots- Tolya and tamar’s fits - insanity - all the awards they deserve all of them

It's me absolutely sobbing over each of the actors' little tribute posts to Shadow and Bone. It is absolutely breaking my heart. Leigh Bardugo's post shattered me because I didn't even think there was the possibility of Season 3 not being greenlit. I knew the writers prepared for cancelation and wrote parts of the spin-off, but I truly thought it would happen. Even with Netflix going on their rampage of axing shows.

There are so many scenes that I wish we could see be brought to life. We didn't even get to see Matthias meet the Crows for God's sake, nor see Alina and Mal end up together. Which is something I don't actually love in the books, but they made Mal such a better character in the show, and Archie is just so wonderful. We didn't get to see Kaz reintroducing Inej with her parents.

But, they also created so many amazing scenes like Ivan and Fedyor being together! Wylan and Jesper meeting, and basically all of their scenes were amazing. Kaz calling Inej his investment. Nina and her waffles and being totally badass with Matthias. Inej meeting Alina and all of Inej's gorgeous knives. And seeing Leigh Bardugo hug Alina.

I really hope this comes back to bite Netflix in the ass.

But seriously I love Kaz Brekker. He was the first physical disabled character I had ever read that wasn’t like the kind of dorky scrawny one that everyone loves, but they also treat like “Oh no! You have a limp so you must always need help!! You poor little thing! I’ll protect you—” I’ve had plenty of people give me similar looks or say similar things and I know they’re just trying to be nice, but sometimes it’s hard not to feel patronized.

But then here was Kaz Brekker who took his disability and owned it. It didn’t control him, he used it to better himself.

“He’d become Kaz Brekker, cripple and confidence man, bastard of the Barrel.”

No one looked down on him because he had a limp or used a cane. He could take care of himself thank you very much. He’s just so cool!! He’s smart, he’s always twelve steps ahead. He drops the sickest lines you’ve ever heard. He’s not perfect. He’s absolutely amazing but he still has faults. He’s struggling to become better. He likes magic tricks and puzzles. He’s funny and he’s loyal. He is still a dork just not a scrawny one. He’s secretly a romantic. He’s so in love with Inej Ghafa— He’s incredible.

Okay. I'm finished. Finally.

I have thoughts. Many.

First, holy shit it's a heckin good time to love Wesper.

And they've clearly set it up for the ice court heist. But, they've fucked up parts. Theyve fucked up the Wesper slowburn, the 'not just girls' scene (which is probably why Kit and Jack did it in the interview). Also kinda fucked up the Kanej slowburn but not as badly. Kinda fucked up the Jesper is a durast thing, but it'll be interesting to see the heist with a Jesper that is proud of his powers and knows how to use them. Interestingly they've still got the Helnik part of the plot pretty much on track.

They've fucked up hopes for Crooked Kingdom. They could still do it sort of. But Rollins position has changed, Inejs position has changed, and they've already used up like half the book.

Tho noticeably they did not say a thing about Wylans family. That is still completely under wraps. And that'll be very interesting to see on screen.

They've also fucked up any hope for King of Scars. Sure they've got the Nikolai part, but my hope for KoS died with David.

All in all, I know a lot of people probably aren't gonna like the last episode and how a lot of different things ended. And I definitely understand that. But more importantly we all want to see the Ice Court heist. So we need to ignore our feelings about how this season ended and stream this season as many times as we can this month to make sure we get the Ice Court heist.

We need to see Matthias and Nina's story play out.

With the changes we might actually eventually get to a healthy Kanej relationship (as healthy as it can be anyway

With the changes it'll mean we get to see many many amazing scenes of Jesper and Wylan, being absolutely adorable and also being absolute badasses and so incredibly proud of each other.

And we might even get to see Zoya and Nikolai.

A/n: I love this request, it was absolutely brilliant!

Request: Hello there, I love your writing, it's so amazing but may I request a Kaz Brekker one shot were the reader is a Tailor and they are very powerful, and once an enemy (there to kill Kaz obv) sneaked inside the slat to kill but the reader do first and Kaz is very impressed and when he asks what happens, they say "what? you think i'm gonna let some random asshole sneak in with a gun and have tea with them?" or something sarcastic like that, thank you so much and take your time, take care!! &lt;;3 @abookloverlmao

Warnings: swearing, killing, death, guns, indentures, I think that's it? You have been warned!

The three P's:

You were new to the Crows as your abilities were not ones commonly used in battle. But you weren't there for a battle, you were there as a spy.

You would scowl at the word spy if anyone ever used it to describe you, a spy was someone who blended in with the background who was not seen. You were nearly always seen, that was often the point of you being there.

You were a Tailor, and your art although it could be used on other people was primarily used on yourself. As you had grown up in the barrel and there wasn't many people to help you hone your skills.

After living in indentures after indentures to women, men, anyone who wanted a grisha Tailor, you had gotten tired. You were being used to your very limb to people you didn't want to work for, sure Tailoring is certainly your passion. Though there is always a difference between living your passion, and forcing it.

In an act of desperation you had whispered to a Crow who was known as the Wraith but you had later found out is named Inej that you could give them information if they could free you.

Somehow it had gotten all the way up to Kaz Brekker and one day your indentures to the people who wanted you without stop had disappeared and you were sitting up in an office in the Slat trying not to sweat your arse off.

Eventually you had talked to Kaz but you hadn't pleaded your case to him like he had expected you to. No, instead you had explained calmly how you could be the Dregs double agent with almost a smirk on your face.

Kaz didn't like your finesse, how dramatic you were, but he had eventually put you to the test and you had been entirely correct. You were a perfect asset to the Crows, and had made Kaz Brekker look stupid.

Despite all of this though, you felt the need to prove yourself, you weren't just a measly little Dreg anymore, you were a Crow. The best of the best, and although you acted as if you were more full of yourself than Jesper and Kaz combined you knew that you felt like you were in debt to Bastard of the barrel. He had freed you from your captors and you have never repaid him.

Some part of you wanted to repay him the world.

Thoughts like those wouldn't leave your mind as you lounge on one of the chairs in the Slat mindlessly looking at an painting that was probably stolen on your right side.

To your left there was three people, two joyously in conversation presumably about a win, and the third looked somber, and excited.

The emotions confused you, you didn't know how someone could be somber and excited? The two together just seemed wrong.

Opposites, isn't that what you and Kaz were? If something is opposites then something is going on. (Although you couldn't say the same about you and Kaz.)

With people and emotions, the combination meant something and in the barrel never something good.

Your eyes followed their figure as they left the room quietly, to go up the stairs of the Slat, you were going to leave them to their own devices and brush your thoughts off as paranoia. You would of noticed if there were a double agent in the Slat, right?

Why would you be paranoid about a double agent? You're a double agent yourself for Kaz but that's either for getting information or for killing someone directly. Although option one usually ends with someone's body dropping to the floor just indirectly.

The only reason there would be a double agent in the Slat would be to kill Kaz, directly or indirectly. But why would there be-

That fucking Merchant!

You nearly leaped out of your seat as you remembered, the Crows had stolen last from a Merchant two weeks ago. Somehow the Mercher had figured out. Although Kaz had said that he had it covered now it was obvious that he didn't.

Your theory was just confirmed when you saw a concealed gun on their side and the way their body leaned towards the right of the stairwell despite that the railing was on the left.

Because Kaz's office is on the right!

Yes, you would notice another double agent if you saw them.

Slowly, you sat up from your seat and walked leisurely behind the double agent. You brought your hand up to your face and changed some small things about it, just so they wouldn't get suspicious that you were following them.

Then in their foolishness when you walked past them and turned the corner past Kaz's office they were overjoyed. Their hands were shaking as they pulled their gun from their coat and had their other hand on the door knob.

Scowling you pulled your own gun out, they were basking in their glory and their near accomplishment that they didn't even think to double check their surroundings and never hesitate.

So with an easy click off the safety you cleared your head thinking about the person's life you were going to take. This wasn't a job, this was much different.

It was undeniably for Kaz, you didn't want to be in debt to anyone. If you truly didn't care for him you would have let him die.

And with a simple pull of the trigger the once living eyes now laid open, looking on to nothing.

Of course the noise of the gun had alerted Kaz and when he opened his door he was surely met with a sight.

A dead body on the floor with you over it with a gun in your hands as you looked at him unimpressed with a hand on your hip.

He didn't realize now, although if he analyzed it later he would assuredly see that it was all an act to cover up how much you wanted to see him alive after someone had just attempted to kill him.

"You killed him?" He rasped with an raised eyebrow. Obviously a bit confused.

"What? You think I'm going let some random asshole sneak in with a gun and have tea with them?" You loured with a roll of your eyes.

He pressed his lips together in an attempt to not let a smile reach his face.

He didn't succeed.

Dirtyhands is smiling, not fully like you people see at those clubs, no Dirtyhands had a small genuine smile on his lips because of you.

You had made Kaz smile!

You couldn't read Kaz, you're not sure that Kaz could understand his own emotions sometimes, but you knew that in that moment he was proud.

If only you could've read his thoughts because in those moments Kaz wasn't only thinking about how proud he was of you;

'Oh shit, I am in love.'

Nina: they rejected my novel again! they said my characters were too cheesy and the descriptions took forever and it seems like i am just proyecting people i know in real life. They are so dumb, there´s no such thing as "overdescription" and this characters are absolutely nothing bassed on real life people not what i think on them

Matthias: let me see "Lord Mayfield Helssing was coming, ridding his white horse, golden hair caressing the wind, like a sun ray was send to earth and taken a human form, he ripped off his shirt, leaving his golden chest on the air..." does he have to rip his shirt? if the weather is windy then he could get a cold. Also, this guy is definitely no one you know on real life?

Nina: absolutely not, he is not inspired by anyone. On an unrelated note i singed you to horseriding lessons

Inej reading: Ira was the kind of person you could never forget. I am tempted to say watching Ira was like watching a sunset but actually sunsets stare at Ira, the sun is still living because she wants to keep iluminating Ira, the water keeps running with the hope one day it can get in touch with Ira´s skin,the air often felt unwhorthy of being breathed by her...this is like five pages of how amazing "Ira" is,well, at least we know she isn't bassed on anyone since no one in real life is that amazing

The Crows: Hogwarts Houses

so I think it's obvious that Kaz is a Slytherin

like come on

however

I think he could also be a Ravenclaw

so that's a tie for me

Matthias is a Gryffindor

no doubt

I will not hear anything else

I mean he was prepared to question his whole belief system for Nina

like if that's not courage and bravery I don't know what is

Inej is a Hufflepuff

I know some people see her as Gryffindor but

she is not brave or daring or chivalrous

she fought for herself, yes

but only out of necessity

she is however loyal, kind, honest, caring and an amazing friend

a Hufflepuff

Wylan is a Ravenclaw

I don't think I need to explain this one

I also think that because he can't read but is still manages to be an absolute genius with the tools that he does makes him the ultimate Ravenclaw

Nina is either a Gryffindor or a Slytherin

but because she is so stubborn and happily goes against her family just to prove a point I think she's more of a Gryffindor

Jesper is probably a Hufflepuff

or a Gryffindor

but I'm leaning towards Hufflepuff just because of his pureness towards his friends

like look at him

even though he has some very bad habits he still tries his best

and lets not forget his absolutely adorable love for Wylan

SAVE SHADOW AND BONE 3 & SIX OF CROWS SPIN-OFF

Netflix HAS to get its act together. The fact that they keep on canceling absolutely phenomenal shows is actually devastating because we love them. We love them and laugh with them and cry with them, and then Netflix just ends them, even though our shows are amounting to something so much greater. But I’ll admit, my breaking point has to be the cancellation of Shadow and Bone 3 and the Six of Crows spin-off. Learning that just broke me completely because all of GrishaVerse, especially my gorgeous Crows, have been so important to me. And seeing it all come to life in front of me…that’s a kind of beautiful I can’t explain. But then suddenly finding out that this show is done and the cast aren't going to film together, especially regarding the fact that six amazing people - Freddy, Amita, Kit, Jack, Danielle, Calahan - will never be seen on screen together ever as our Crows…and reading their goodbye posts…

So, I’M DONE. I’M COMPLETELY FED UP WITH NETFLIX TAKING UP OUR BELOVED FANDOMS AND DROPPING THEM ON THE GROUND WHILE PUTTING UP TRASH ON PEDESTALS. So once we're done, there will be no mourners, and no funerals! (Except for maybe five mourners and one funeral, but that’s not anything new…)

Also, please sign the petition ((I’ve linked it below)). It takes nothing to do so, and I know that we, this incredible fandom, will come for them, for this. And if we couldn't walk, we’d crawl to them, and no matter how broken we end up, we'd fight our way out together - pencils drawn, keyboards blazing. Because that's what we do. We never stop fighting.
