Why is there a sudden influx of LGBTQ people?

Quite a few reasons:

Being queer is being more accepted as time goes on; people are more comfortable being open about their sexuality if they're not ridiculed for it. The digital age also allows for more opportunities to communicate with other queer people and enhance that sense of community. There are heaps of organizations supporting queer youths. All these things contribute to creating a safer environment.

Trans people have more accessible (more than before, anyway) resources for transitioning and info about their possible identity. Bet that speeds up the process of treating gender dysphoria or just realizing their gender identity. But that's only if we're talking about a handful of countries.

The LGBTQ+ community is still not very accepted in most places. If we compare say Norway, America, and Canada to Iraq, Bhutan, and Turkey, the number of people comfortable with coming out would be severely different.
