I really should be sleeping but I really think one of the reasons Adrien is so fond of the statue scene and why it led to the realization of his feelings for Mari is because in that scene she's basically doing what he does as Chat Noir to Ladybug.
As in she's speaking his love language.
And I don't mean cringe, I mean honestly saying how she feels, showing open and deep devotion for the other person, a willingness to be vulnerable and dramatic in pursue of passion and love.
It must have been so jarring for Adrien to see Mari act that way, because it really is something Chat would do. And while I do think he thought it was just her joking around, that playfulness is what Adrien adores! And remember in psycomedian how important comedy is for Adrien! And Mari, well she's like him!
That "cringe" that all the haters complain about is exactly what Adrien loves about Mari, because it's exactly how he would express his feelings! And, as we've seen in canon, it is what opens his eyes to her and to his own feelings.
Don't forget Mari has ALWAYS struggled with her feelings and never been clear about them. That's WHY the statue scene happened in the first place, because Adrien thought she hated him. And all he wanted was to know if she maybe, just maybe liked him back. At least as a friend.
What he got instead was something way more, and I really do think it's because once she did say her feelings, in that ridiculous over the top way of hers to a statue, he realized they were more similar than they'd previously though.

from: thirteen by @anna-scribbles
art by me :)
start from the beginning // read the november chapter // read the most recent chapter (january)
hey listen. look me in my eyes. have you read thirteen by anna scribbles. i think you need to read thirteen by anna scribbles. i think if you want your life to be forever changed you need to read thirteen by anna scribbles. i think if you are a person who is breathing and alive you need to read thirteen by anna scribbles. thank you
#thirteen#miraculous ladybug#ml art#emilie agreste#adrien agreste#miraculous ladybug fic#ml fic#ml fic rec#my art#THIS IMAGE HAS BEEN HAUNTING THE INSIDE OF MY BRAIN EVER SINCE I READ THE NOVEMBER CHAPTER BACK IN NOVEMBER#now. listen. in an ideal world i would've done this way back in november but uhhhhhhh i don't know what happened. suddenly it was december#and now it's february! not sure how that happened. anyway my goal is to be making a piece of art for each chapter to convey#just how fucking INSANE this fic makes me feel. like how crazy and insane and awesomely constructed it is. anna just GETSSSS ITTTTTTT#(and is using her 'get it' ability to hurt me bodily)#like with every chapter i read i am just assaulted with this intense desire to Make An Image which is not really an impulse im used to#since i don't draw a ton but anna's voice is just so evocative of images in a way that just. inspires every creative impulse inside of me#i took forever to read the december chapter but the moment i read it i already had an idea of something i wanted to draw for it.#my idea is. well. complex for me to say the least but as i told anna i am determined to make my skills match whatever i need to do because#the way she writes it is literally haunting me it is shooting me with a gun it is so something i have no idea how to handle#except i guess to repeat her themes and ideas and imagery in a collage of sorts#i don't know that's what my october chapter comic felt like- a collage. and this one does too in a way even though it's very different#i just like connecting the dots. and then smashing the dots together in an image#anyway. read thirteen. it is changing me all the way down to the dna

Just a small frustrated stream of consciousness, don’t mind it’s rushed nature:
You know, there's a very specific kind of behavior and type of trauma response that people like in characters. Fandoms go out of their way to justify their lashing out, to make it cute. Many times, there are understandable reasons for how they turned out the way they did. To each their own, if someone wants to latch on to different characters, that's their prerogative and there is nothing wrong with that.
However, there are two aspects of the way some fans approach things that I am so frustrated by. I run into them time and time again. Obviously, part of it is just how it attacks my own favorite characters constantly, but it can also be a sign of unhealthy patterns in how people think about real people with trauma or in certain circumstances.
First part: Lack of recognition that there is more than one way that trauma presents itself. I find it is often the case that people give characters like Jinx, Catra, Lena Luthor, Adrien Agreste, Leo Fitz, and Steve Harrington a pass. And I get it, they are likable characters! They have complex reasons, and tragic pasts, and weren't ever actively trying to be bad people. Many of them are genuinely good people. Their mistakes are treated with compassion and understanding by their fandoms.
Their friends or significant-others’ traumas, however, are frequently not. Vi, Adora, Kara Danvers, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Daisy Johnson, and Nancy Wheeler are examples of group ones' counterparts. These are characters that respond to trauma in a different way from the first group. Theirs is less immediately obvious, as they don't lash out the same way.
They tend to repress and avoid. They react to hurt by trying to help. These are masks that many people overlook. The second group are the kind that like to take responsibility onto themselves unnecessarily. They all deal with survivors' guilt, or something of the sort. They are hard on themselves, rather than others. This does not mean that they are correct in that blame. They don't look as obviously in pain or in need of help, and so people take them at face value. This creates a different perspective when they do lash out, or when they do make mistakes. Suddenly, there isn't any of the compassionate understanding given to others. They should have been on top of things, should have understood what others were feeling, and how it hurt them. Because they had been shown to make an effort to understand before.
And THAT'S DUMB.
Believe me when I say that that is an extraordinarily harmful way to approach people like that! Just because they hold themselves up to an extremely high standard, doesn’t mean others should too! The second group needs just as much help as the first, and be given equal levels of leniency and compassion. Because of their outward appearances though, people don’t realize that. Fandom’s don’t find that as appealing, because they still take these characters at face value, even though they are shown more of what’s going on under the surface than anyone in the character’s world.
And that leads to the second point, that people like to shift blame and responsibility off of the first group and onto the second. People project onto characters, it’s just a part of fandom. What ends up happening though, is that creates a desire to remove the responsibility/blame from their chosen character, and place it onto someone else.
There’s a difference between understanding and feeling empathy for someone, and removing responsibility. Removing responsibility means the responsibility must be put on someone else, because it can’t be removed entirely from the equation. Someone needs to come down, to prop the first one up, in situations where character one either hurts the other, or shares the blame with them. Doing this does two things, which are harmful to both characters. It infantilizes character one, as suddenly they aren’t capable of truly making their own choices. Two, it warps the view of character two. It villianizes them for things outside of their control. It becomes more than just preferring one character over another. I don’t know how else to say it other than, That’s Bad.
It also ruins fandom content for people who like character two. They don’t have to be the center of everything, but no one likes reading a fic only to realize that character two is being treated with hate by the author.
It doesn’t have to be either or! People can have compassion and empathy for multiple characters in a conflict! Heck, there are plenty of examples where people on both sides are both right and wrong. I don’t know where I’m going with this, and I’m not hating on people who love those characters, but gosh darn it, is there anyone else who understands?? I am so sick and tired of having to avoid large swaths of fan content because they are so populated with dislike for the types of characters I relate to or love.

illicit
Is it really cheating if A) it’s an arranged engagement and B) the person you’re cheating on is the person you’re cheating with?
366 words, vague ladrien knight/prince au in the background (yes, again, i’m sorry it’s a sickness and it’s terminal)
“Shouldn’t you be with her?” Ladybug asked, head ducked, playing with his fingers. “With your new fiancée, I mean.”
Adrien huffed, leaning against Ladybug’s shoulder. “Marinette?”
Ladybug twitched. “Yeah,” she said. “Don’t you have some—some event later tonight?”
“Mm. It’s to announce the engagement.”
“So shouldn’t you, I don’t know.” She fiddled with their hands. “Talk to her before the event, or something?”
“Hm? But I barely know her.” Adrien snuggled closer. “Besides, I’d rather spend my time with you, my lady.”
Ladybug laughed, soft; his hair ruffled slightly with the gentle force of it. Her chin bumped against his forehead. “Oh?”
He smiled down at where their hands lay, entwined on her lap. “Mhm.” He flipped their hands over and interlaced his fingers with hers.
“I’m sure Princess Marinette’s pretty, though,” Ladybug said, after some time. “And I heard she’s well-loved by her subjects. You should give her a chance. Maybe you’d—”
“—fall in love with her?” Adrien finished. He shrugged. “Well, you are right about that first bit. She is pretty, and she seemed kind, but—”
“But?” Ladybug’s voice was whisper-soft.
“But I’m already yours,” Adrien said simply.
“Oh,” Ladybug said. Adrien peeked up at her through his lashes. There was red blooming in her cheeks. “W—well,” she stammered. “I’m. Yeah. I—me too.”
God, she was so pretty when she blushed. There were times that Adrien could hardly believe he could do that to Ladybug. He grinned, giddy, and clutched her hand tighter.
“How long can you stay this time?” he asked.
When he looked up, there was a curious smile on her face. “I... I have somewhere to be in a few hours,” Ladybug said. “So an hour more, or so. But until then...”
“I’ll make it worth your time,” he promised.
Ladybug’s lips ticked up into a half-smirk. “How does a kiss sound?”
“And to think, just earlier you were trying to get me to spend time with my fiancée,” Adrien breathed.
“I’m sure Princess Marinette won’t mind if I steal a kiss or two before the both of you are wedded,” Ladybug murmured, and then she took his face into her hands and kissed him until he didn’t care what anyone else would’ve thought.

amélie being the rabbit in the representation play because the name 'amélie' means work and rabbits represent hardworking. rabbits being a symbol of fertility yet amélie is incapable. the saying 'breed like rabbits'. eostre being the goddess of fertility and taking the form of a rabbit. rabbits meaning quietness, cautiousness, observing from a distance and choosing not to get involved in her sister's tricks. rabbits meaning tricks, though, as in a rabbit coming out of a hat. a cowboy's hat? when the rabbit and the hat meet, there is suddenly a need for magic and witchcraft. sorcery. some witches took the form of rabbits. the witch used magic. the witch caused mischief with their new rabbit and hat and sorcery, unlike before when she was the quiet, observant, clever one. rabbits constantly being portrayed as foolish despite this, as prey for the hunter. falling into their trap. rabbits representing love, but not love exactly, not requited love, just love. the feeling. when the rabbit's lover sees her, it is bad luck. when a hare crosses your path, it is a bad omen, and you are destined to die. however, a rabbit's foot is good luck. good fortune. if the rabbit's lover wants good luck at the moment, is sick and dying and needs good luck, they would need the foot. not the rabbit - just the foot. and if ripping the foot off of the rabbit would give them the foot, then they would do that. rabbits do not represent requited love. just love. not love for the rabbit. love for good fortune. love for good luck. love for oneself. good fortune for the lover, not for the rabbit. the rabbit is a symbol of innocence. as it innocently falls into the hat. the hat is a metaphor, a trap, a perfect pitfall. and the rabbit has fallen into it. it gets pulled out by the neck, caught in a chokehold unable to breathe, and laughed about among the audience. until one day, the hat and the cruel magic weaken and die. the rabbit's son takes on the role of magician afterwards. it is not a rinse-and-repeat situation, as the rabbit's son is not a rabbit. he gets to fall in love and have that love returned. the rabbit's son is a magician, but would never use that power to hurt people. he is a creation of sorcery and witchcraft, of a rabbit and a hat, and he is something, someone, special. he is not a rabbit. the name 'félix' means lucky. the rabbit's son gets to have good luck without the foot of the rabbit. he gets to love and be loved back. he gets to share a heartfelt kiss and have good luck. he always manages to get what he wants, because he is a magician. félix fathom is not an innocent rabbit.

Boulangerélla updates every Saturday (sometimes earlier)! The concept was "3 nights of a Cinderella ball + 1 wedding makes for a perfect lovesquare fic" and then Lore HappenedTM. So you get to choose your plotline:
Ladybug, hero of the city, and Chat Noir, notorious thief and part-time hero, have been protecting the City of Bright Lights and their miraculous gifts of the Fays of Destruction and Creation from Hawk Moth's curses for a year. Now, they must face their toughest challenge yet: a ball!
Crown Prince Adrien Agreste must choose between marrying a woman who can protect his kingdom, a woman offering the power to wake his sleeping mother, and the woman he has loved and admired for the past year. By the time he realizes he doesn't have the power to choose at all, it may be too late.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng was content to finish up her apprenticeship and begin the next phase of her journey to artisan by traveling the world and studying her craft. But with the biggest project of her career due the night of the ball, a partner who's about to leave her, and a young musician coming to court her, she may have to admit that the solution to indecision is not, in fact, over-commitment.
Prince Félix has spent the last year desperate for answers about his father's disappearance. As he investigates what actually happened the night Queen Emilie fell asleep and never woke up, he might find that the truth is more terrifying than his nightmares.
And if that hasn't sold you yet, here's the title card for next week's chapter:
