Hello! I hope you are doing well. I have been following your concepts on [cursed bird app] for a while now and find your stance on the totk rewrite intruiging. Since twitter ofc is never a good place to elaborate on anything lmao, I figured I would ask on here after finding out about your tumblr.
You are welcome to take as much time as you need for this, but I was very curious to hear more about why you feel totk 'fails as a sequel' in terms of writing. I can agree that the whole zonai thing did come out of left field a little, and I never did like the whole "zelda is once again separated from you for 90% of the game," bit (bc c'mon Nintendo again? Really??) but I was curious about what else you found dissatisfaction in and sought to redo
If your plan though is to do so gradually as you go with the new rewrite concepts you piece together and post, that is fine too. I just get more curious about your opinion bc you always seem to have a *lot* you want to say outside of just tag ramblings xD

i have talked alot about the things i dislike about totk, all my general talking (not just about totk tho) is tagged with "ganondoodles talks" and all my longer rants should be tagged with "ganondoodles rants" (tho that tag is new idk if i remembered to put it everywhere) so i think it might be easier if you searched for these on my blog bc thats were all my ramblings go and, with no ill intent, have talked about it so much already i kinda dont want to spend hours writing out something that just ends up repeating myself really
somethign i can say that the main thing on why it fails as a sequel to me is .. bc its not .. a sequel really, it reuses map and models but doesnt elaborate on anything from botw (the zonau were barely even a thing in botw and now in totk their stuff looks way different and they have been here all along actually(tm) ) the shiekah stuff is basically erased despite it having been so build into the world of botw (and you could have just .. explored them more bc theres lots of cool stuff to do with them still), characters act weirdly off, stuff that was seemingly build up and was a perfect slide into a sequel either gets ignored or just straight up erased, themes dont match up at all and more
it just feels like they tested the glue mechanic for 3 years and everything else was an afterthought, i felt empty at the end, in a bad way, it felt like the game was actively mocking me for caring so much about botw at times and totk actively hurts botw too imo (with some reveals etc)
they should have just called it an alternative dimension thing like majora and half my complaints could be dismissed, but its not so im super frustrated bc i love botw a ton
if there are more specific questions you are free to ask about it again of course! this is not meant to sound dismissive but me typing out stuff can take a long time and im behind on so much work already qnq
also all development both visual and writing concepts for my rewrite are tagged with "ganondoodles rewrites totk" so you can find everything with that too :D

not to be a nitpicky autist but i often hear people say “ramuda has killed people” as a means of pointing out the dissonance between his appearance and his actions, but ramuda... hasn’t killed people. okay there were those clones out of self defense but that was fling posse as a whole. as for tdd era, the point was all “his” crimes were done by other clones: had ramuda used the true hypmic to kill people he would be dead too bc it kills the users (hence need for clones). you are all falsely accusing him of crimes he DID NOT COMMIT we’re just normal men. we’re just innocent men.

i finished throne of jade and it made me realise how much more i enjoyed to shape a dragons breath lol
its not that one really did "our way is the right way to raise dragons" any better but dragons breath was definitely more approchable! i think it also helps that like. in dragons breath we werent meant to sympathetize with the people being racist lmao i know this series is about Laurence growing as a person and thats great but what about his friends lol
also sorry not sorry i just dont find racist learns not to be racist a very interesting story! especially when told from the racists pov!
i DO like watching Temeraire find his heritage and come closer to his roots but i want MORE of that lmao once again i feel like the dragons are being cast aside and i want MORE OF THEM

did it cross your mind that perhaps the marwa transformation is a plotline that might continue into the next season and that sometimes not everything happens immediately or does that go against the outrage machine you’re operating
it did actually! the show tends to listen to its fans a lot so i have hope that if nothing else the uproar in support of marwa makes them reconsider! but also i just watched an innocent woman suffer a horrible fate on my escapist vampire show that keeps resetting itself every season and tends to sometimes forget about side characters and subplots so i don't have the same faith in it i had 2 seasons ago. sorry my being upset on my own blog under read-mores made you upset in turn!

Hella if you dont like what your studying why dont you change what your studying? Like im american and thats common here but maybe its not common there??
But you said it drains the life out of you and if thats what your studying my guess is that thats what your career is going to be centered around, so why would you stay in a field you dont seem to like.
Or is this one of those things where were only getting the bad parts, and theres more good than bad?
hi before i say anything i want to be clear that this is a totally valid thing to be wondering and im not saying anything against you specifically, but ive said quite a few times on this blog (again, nothing against you and im never expecting everyone to be constantly caught up on every facet of my life all the time lmao) that i dont like conversations along the line of 'just change course' 'why would you stay in a field you dont like' etc. they aren't rude things to say, it's genuinely just a personal thing BECAUSE this topic is very personal for me. there's a lot of complicated reasoning/history behind it that i wont get into partially bc it's not your lots place to know all that and partially bc it will just get too long lmfao, but the summary here is that the option to change course is not available to me. i am stuck doing this degree because of the choices i made and also the corners i was backed into and that's that. it's why i hate hearing 'just change course' bc while it IS a uni available option (though maybe not this late into the year), it isn't a 'me' available option. so yeah. i really do just need to suck it up lol

thoughts below
while i am way too into historical costuming with little to no actual knowledge in the field i must say japanese clothing specifically is not my forte (i've always thought other ppl had that field covered) so please forgive any huge glaring inaccuracies i may present here. i am just someone simply nitpicky abt this sort of thing who doesn't actually know what im talking about.
that being said, first fit is a kamishimo + hakama + kimono, fit isn't entirely accurate but i suppose that could be blamed on him being a tourist.
second is a haori over a more casual fit that i felt like he would actually wear. very much going for that meiji-inspired modern fashion type of thing.
third is a souvenir jacket and was my first idea for a japanese joel fit considering its history and aesthetic made the most sense to me but i was afraid it wouldn't scream japan hard enough. i imagine he sewed the patches on himself.

oh man its so random, but i either use the name lumi or clora for everything whenever i play rpgs (baldurs gate 3, dragon age, you name it) and clora originated from rune factory 4 LOL. theres a character named 'clorica' and i really liked that name, it sounds so elegant and fantasy ish, so i eventually just shortened it to clora bahaha. now its my go-to. i like how simple it is but it also sounds unique and works in modern AND fantasy settings, imo

my first and ONLY playthrough was as clora! i originally did try to make myself at the start, but i have short brown hair and straight across bangs, and they didnt have a style that felt 'me', so i went with just making a ravenclaw that i liked, and then gave her my go-to name of clora HAHA. and yea, i built up her and sebs relationship in my head as i was playing, especially with all the running around the castle i did. i just liked to imagine her constantly out of breath and flushed and seb just watching like ....🧍girl chill...

AND SPEAKING OF MY DARK RELIC COMIC/SMUT, my biggest advice for writing smut id say is to have a reasoning behind it, i guess? i focus a lot on their headspace/WHY they're fucking at that moment when i write it LOL instead of just the movements/sex for the sake of sex. in your case, the sexual tension leading up to the first time gives you SO much to work with, since you can just be in his head with how much hes looking forward to it, how much hes savouring it, how he's also nervous but enjoying it and trusting the other person, etc. the thoughts are hotter than the actual deed a lot of the times (which is why when clora and seb did it for the first time it ended up being like, 15k words of just foreplay and build up from sebs perspective LMAOO) so yeah id just try to focus on their emotions and desires if you can! and a lot of the times with consent stuff it CAN feel forced, and you dont even really need your characters to talk about that stuff verbally, at least not too much. you can do it in body language, or just something as simple as 'ill stop if you want'. it doesnt have to be a long therapist-like conversation about consent, which CAN tend to sound a little awkward and unrealistic (esp in the heat of the moment), if thats the problem you're having. HOPE I COULD HELP

(really in my feels about the ot3 because of the @powerpolyculeshowdown so here's some propaganda)
parker and hardison allow eliot to be sillier. more ridiculous. outragous, even. eliot sings the stupid ditties hardison writes special for him, and he rolls his eyes at parkers pokes and prods and the occasional "accidental" face slap, and eliot can express himself for what actually bothers him no matter how nitpicky, versus having to calculate what he should say. (he still argues with hardison that throwing in on a brewpub was a stupid plan given its risk, no matter how many times hardison claims it was always a gift for him.) eliot laughs more. real laughs; you can tell because his smiles look more and more like grimaces: the way his ma perked her mouth which his dad always teased her about (though it was his favorite thing about her), rather than the wide toothy grins eliot learned because he knows, tactically, they are best for charming. parker and hardison let him not feel like he's a monster. or... parker tells him she always thought the big bad wolf had a bad rap, and hardison says some stupid shit about monsterfucking being the hip thing the kids are into these days, anyway.
hardison and eliot allow parker to feel deep. it's food that tastes like a hug and it's gadgets made just for her and it's loving and being loved and it's being one another's real families. she doessn't want to run away, anymore. or... she wants to run but with her friends beside her. or... running cons is all she's ever wanted to do, and all she did, for so long. parker is good at it. she loves it. she loves that hardison and eliot love it too. but... feeling deep is also being deep. she's no longer just her piles of money because she is no longer afraid of herself. her past. the memories that hurt. the habits she thought she needed to grow out of but always missed. these habits, like bleeping sounds that arent words and hands move move moving. hands that were once made to stay now can fly because hardison buys her fidgets and designs some just for her and keeps locks in lucille for when parker feels like infinity and needs the vibrations of ticktickticks to bring her back to herself. and eliot lets her braid and unbraid his hair; he won't let her blow dry it, not yet, but... he lets her pet his hair while it's still hot, now. it frizzes his hair a little, and parker feels her pulse rush throughout the day knowing she did that to him. eliot and hardison kiss her knuckles when they burn.
parker and eliot allow hardison to be mean. vindictive. he is nicer than he needs to be. wants to be... what he needs to be is nonthreatening, for the most part, in many places. he knows what it means to be him: tall and black and queer and gaining muscle and too smart for his own damn good and so very, very tenderhearted. hardison loves so damn deep, and he cares so damn much, but part of caring (the other side of a coin) is not giving a fuck. it's the boiling point of rage and betrayal. the i need to walk away from this fight because you are dead wrong and imma about to say something imma regret, so go fix yourself. the im not gonna forget, im not going to forgive, and im going to get my revenge. parker and eliot would not have questioned hardison's joy at securing the capture of the men that put him in that damn coffin; they hold space for him to be fully himself with all his ugly parts and his petty parts and the parts that do bring hardison shame if he thinks about it for too long. they know he's not perfect, and that? that feels like safety and love and forever to hardison.

out of curiosity, which parts/episodes have the bad localizationing for phoenix? I'm probably going to read the official translation on sekai.best since I don't like using youtube and i wanna know what to expect
here's my main issues with it in brief for now, but i'll probably do a longer post on the topic of ensekai's translations later

Rui: I guess this is what you want to do
first off from chapter 7, rui's observation of Tsukasa's breakdown. this is just weirdly casual and honestly ooc for Rui. as a director, he's observant, and he's trying to understand what tsukasa's going through and what he's trying to do. The fan translation i linked puts this as "As I thought, this is what you're going for", which is far better.

Rui: We should let Tsukasa be right now...
also from chapter 7 literally 4 lines later. while at first this might not seem that bad, and is fitting with the context, i much prefer the fan TL version which puts this as "This is something that Tsukasa needs". Like do you get how much the word "needs" changes this. "We should let him be" is kinda broad all things considered. Like it could mean he needs it, but it could also mean that someone on tiktok or twitter will probably misinterpret it as wandasho not knowing what to do or some other angsty thing like them not being good friends i dunno

Tsukasa: It's because "I" am not strong enough...
Now this. This is a good line. Note the quotations around I. This is very important to Tsukasa's arc in this event of understanding the role of Rio and improving his acting. Note that here, the pronoun used is boku, when Tsukasa uses ore. Boku, or "I" here, refers to Rio, as in, Tsukasa is thinking as Rio. EN drops the quotations completely and translates it flatly as "because i'm powerless". He refers to himself in first person while thinking as Rio for the rest of the scene on EN though, so hopefully there won't be too many misinterpretations (but. you probably know what I'm vagueing about). Pronouns aren't used as frequently in japanese as in english so this is actually the first time he uses boku in this scene, hence the quotes. This is more nitpicky it's just something I thought was pretty cool.

Rui: Did you see that phoenix you were talking about?
one last Rui quote (rui im sorry ensekai can't translate you well). wow 3 out of four quotes here are rui in chapter 7 damn. anyway. the fan translation of this is "Have you finally found your Phoenix" which is SO much better with the context of the rest of the story. tsukasa decides that he needs to "find his phoenix" in order to nail the role, and this is correctly translated aside from this one line, which is arguably one of the most important uses of it. it's not just any phoenix, it's tsukasa's. his personal one, like a resolve of sorts. once again they made rui far too casual and he doesn't sound right.
yeah as i said i'll do something better another time, but he's my main nitpicks and complaints.

the heights in dhmis kill me lmao (ramble post lol)
right off the bat im just gonna talk about red guy
this is excluding the non-canon pilot, but looking at how tall he is in comparison to the other puppets makes me wonder if he's like 7' in the puppet world.

BC LOOK AT HIM HES ALMOST TALLER THAN THE DOOR (doors are like 6'8") sure, there's a chance joe pelling//(EDIT: DID SOME RESEARCH AND HES ACTUALLY ACTED BY TWO PPL NAMED JOSS CARTER AND ADAM MAYNE SORRY) is just really tall, but im ps they use prop(?) doors instead of real ones. it makes me wonder how tall is "the tall one" in this world.
that brings me to wonder about the other puppets though. bc if red guy is really tall then are they all just ;;; tremendously short

duck and yellow are both relatively the same size as the other puppets meant to resemble civilians(?) with a few inches in difference (this excludes the teachers, i'm being a little nitpicky here lol) and thus that likely means they're all too short for the toilets/urinals and the sinks. it's literally child height.
with that said;; ???lmao??? like are over 50% of the puppets just too small for everything?? bc everything honestly seems to fit the red guy just fine, with a few exceptions where he'd probably have to hunch down a bit. especially in their home lol:

red guy's WAY taller than the fridge, and duck n yellow match the mirror perfectly. their house is tailored mostly to the smaller skrimblies. or maybe to a type of puppet that's somewhat taller than yellow and duck, since comparing them to red, technically the freezer would be too high for them to reach.
though honestly this makes me wonder a little bit on what's the norm for puppets, really. to bring up the work episode again, a lot of the aspects of the workplace seem to be made to fit red guy, or at least a somewhat average sized person, such as the bathrooms or Mr. Peterson's office. But the area where the puppets actually work is made to fit them, the shorter ones. duncan's computer is at a fitting size, and the conveyor belt is just right for puppets of yellow and duck's height. i wonder if there's a sort of hierarchy to taller puppets or something.
i could probably keep going with this ramble but i have no idea how to put what im thinking into words, i don't even know if this ramble post makes sense either. long story short, red guy is too tall for everything, yellow and duck are too small for everything, yet still many aspects are made to fit them in this world. the inconsistencies are really entertaining i am hoping they keep coming/gen

Most days he’ll admit, it’s a strenuous exercise to continue walking the desolate plains. Hell, it’s better with company, but he works alone and walks alone. All the better if one would dare say otherwise.
Trying to figure out your own path, part ways with a life that one would have been so comfortable to continue living, wasn’t something easy. Being just sorta… ripped away from it wasn’t a decision all on his own.
Yet, being friends with people he can put his trust in, learn to feel loved and valued — wasn’t something he decided on either. Wolfwood wasn’t nitpicky in the cards he is dealt, these cards are just ones that simply surprise him and far surpasses his expectations.
What were they again?
Ah he forgot, why would they matter anyway? It’s not exactly worth trying to remember in the face of such solace he felt he was trying to find. For now, Wolfwood would just have to sort through it himself.
Partaking in another smoke, he couldn’t help but notice the own uptake of the small smile taking residence on his face. The thought of you, Vash, Meryl and Robert.
In a way, Wolfwood couldn’t help but think of you all, as his family of sorts. Though he wouldn’t ever truly admit that atloud. Almost as if he would be ripped apart from you all at that very thought, not liked he deserved you or them in the first place.
To be careful, and stay at a distance. To not cause himself heartaches that were unnecessary, to remind himself what and why he was here for a reason.
“You’re not asleep,” Your voice rang out, stopping him from indulging in the burrowing reaches of the desolate pit of thoughts he was so used to being comfortable with. Wolfwood couldn’t help but let out a small scoff, sarcasm at best. “Yeah, why are you not?” He retorted.
“Couldn’t sleep,” Taking another step forward, standing right at his sitting side. “Mind if I join you, Mr. Wolfwood?”
The undertaker wasn’t going to refute your company, in spite of the whole of his being screaming at him to just get away from his mere presence. You sat down right beside him, without an ounce of hesitation. No shame or mere embarrassment that had took either.
With a failed attempt at hiding your sigh, he perks up slightly, elbowing you with a smarmy grin to hide his own self deprecation that had clearly seemed far too evident moments before.
“Talk to us.” Putting a hand on his shoulder, he felt warm to the touch. Which had surprised you, but you masked it quite easily, this was about him right now. He seemed more and more in pain every day that had passed. “I worry about you, Wolfwood.”
Your concern had light a small flicker beneath the stone-cold corners of his heart, but nonetheless, he wasn’t going to allow your worry to be pushed down so deeply. Merely rendering it to a fault, within a moment, Wolfwood had taken the forgotten cigarette from the corner of lips, pushing it out into a nearby sand dune.
“Eh, your worry is pretty useless.” He bit back his usual nickname for you, “Sides’ Im good and fine, no problem. Not like m’ injured.”
Wolfwood knew he wasn’t injured, as were you. Trying to find an eventual footing into this tender situation, wasn’t an easy one. To keep your own worries at bay, he honestly was a little offended you thought otherwise about his own health.
“Your no less important then we are.” You frown, scurrying to wipe away the ash that had been lingering at the corner of his lips left behind by his cigarette. Finding purchase in his warmth was surprisingly easy, Wolfwood wouldn’t always let you touch him this easily.
Trying to suppress his emotions, trying to find the words he was having trouble with speaking, he felt you. The shades were damn good at concealing his eyes at times, yet a troubling thing it is when he is so abnormally quiet.
“Wolfwood?”
“Nicholas.”
You looked at him, eye to eye. Taking off his sunglasses, he leaned into your touch that had still lingered on his cheek, barring as far to his jawline. Wolfwood sighed, barely daring to take another breath, as if he felt he was dreaming this very moment.
“Okay… Nico.” You spoke slowly, assuming as if he was just on the verge of losing it. No, he just needed some sort of ministration of comfort, to find community. “Mind if I do something real quick?”
Wolfwood raised a brow at you, not spilling any complaints. Just rather more curios and attentive to you then anything else. “Hm?”
Just in moments, you wrapped your arms around his frame. He let out a small gasp, no doubt he was surprised, feeling a lot of things in just a hug alone.
Trying to opt for hugs or even just comforting touches when he was younger, had left him scarred. Yours? It wasn’t hurting at all. You just hugged him.
And damn, it felt so nice for once.

TL;DR: what i want to highlight with this comic: satoru calling suguru "geto" / suguru crossing satoru's metaphorical line and permanently severing his relationship with him. kenjaku's plan in canon will never come to fruition in this au. what happens after is up to you :)
and yes ik the trust quote is in the context of the other 2nd years! i added it bc it fit, in a way.
this got long sorry lol i started to ramble
LAST NAME - what started this all and what i hope others picked up on was gojo calling geto by his last name, not his first: geto. even after everything geto did during jjk v0, gojo still calls geto 'suguru.' he's still 'suguru' to him. i wanted a scenario in which gojo would reject his first name - reject their past and their relationship. this whole comic idea sprung out of being unsatisfied with geto and gojo's canon relationship. personally, im not the happiest with how things were written in the story and feel like the author could've done some things differently. this isn't to say i don't like or enjoy what the author has written either. i just have mixed feelings.
KENJAKU - in case it wasn't clear, the door closing on page 14 depicts geto with stitches on his forehead - aka kenjaku. what that page is trying to convey is that the moment geto killed yuuta, the future where geto's body is used to box gojo ceased to exist. in this au, kenjaku's plan that we see in the canon timeline would never and will never work. by killing yuuta, geto crossed a line and permanently severed his relationship with gojo. if gojo wins here, gojo will dispose of the body properly. the panel after shows a closed door with the memory of who suguru was. the person who suguru used to be and the best years of gojo's life etc etc. but "broken" bc it's gojo truly realizing that's not who geto is anymore + the whole "severing relationship" thing. does this make sense.
what happens after the comic ends is up to interpretation though
GETO'S PLAN - i didnt focus a lot on the specifics of how this could've happened considering geto's plan changed in this au. how it happened isnt really important, you can come up with whatever you want. what i wanted to focus on, and what i hope people managed to pick up on is the situation itself - geto killing yuuta. sorry yuuta. i'll make it up to you.
i ended it here because it felt the best place, but here's some scrapped dialogue of a few seconds after: GETO: "… It was a necessary sacrifice, Sato-" GOJO: "don't you dare call me that" basically to emphasize the first name vs last name situation
GOJO N GETO - ive always felt uhhh. nitpicky, i guess. about the specifics of everything regarding gojo and geto. ive felt unsatisfied for a variety of reasons, and this was basically an idea that sprung out (a looong time ago) of a want for gojo to be angry at and feel more.. negative emotions, i guess, toward geto. i still do genuinely enjoy their canon relationship a lot tho. i enjoy the way they’re written together and individually, i just have different/multiple feelings about the same thing :)
RIKO AND YUUTA - erm there was a scrapped panel... you can find it on my blog if you're really curious but there was a panel of geto 'remembering' riko's dead body (a distorted memory, because the blood reflects yuuta's injuries). it's not necessarily that riko and yuuta are similar, it's that geto becomes a bit like toji in the end. just like toji, geto tries to kill a young teenager for the sake of his own goals. while toji's was selfish and geto's, in his own eyes, was for the greater good, there's still the similarity of killing a child. of stealing their future for their own goals. plus the fact that gojo killed both of them in a similar way.
TRUST - yeah i know the quote is in the context of the 2nd years fighting geto. still. gojo trusted geto to a large degree, despite everything he did. so. it's going here.
PG 4-6 - geto values and cares about sorcerers so so much. again, he was fine with trying to kill yuuta for his vision and all but i dont think he wouldn't feel some level of. conflicting emotions i guess. (i am very against the idea that geto wasn't... trying to kill yuuta? i don't really get that perspective at all. it'd make all of that meaningless imo. but this isn’t about that.) ok im done.

I know I'm sending you a lot of asks today and I'm sorry, I'm a bit talkative and I love your incredible ideas 😅
But my previous ask and your implication to soap being a Barracks Bunny had given me some inspiration and I was wondering if you have any advice on how to write soap's speech? It'll bother me to know end if I don't try and include the accent and speech into his dialogue.

apart from that, im incredibly particular about keeping certain aspects of characters canon. if i dont hear soap speaking gaelic, i keep it out. but that's just me, do as ye like.
i also do try to make it sound like it'd be fitting. sound it out yourself so for example, on ghost sometimes i say you unless ya sounds like it makes sense.
"i'm here to protect ya."
"you don't speak t'me like tha'."
so with soap, Ah've instead of i've makes sense, but if you listen to soap during the campaign, his english is pretty basic.
imo, too much scottish slang can disrupt the flow of the convo, because either you translate it then, breaking the sentence, or at the bottom notes which i will eventually get to, so now im guessing what he said based off of context clues. unless, say, he does it in the convo itself.
"away 'n bile yer heid."
"english, mactavish."
"sorry sir. let me translate. 'go fuck yourself.'"
but this is just me. im nitpicky because in my youth, i read too much fucking anime fanfics just to read a disgusting, triggering amount of 'hai, sensei.' and 'baka'
makes me tight just thinking about it.
whatever your vision of soap is, whether he's a basic man with an accent or a man who showers with a kilt, do as you see fit.
