family portrait :D young sam and sybil are behaving themselves and vimes is throwing a hissy fit because they tried to make him wear the helmet
[id: a digital painting of three people sitting for a portrait in a domestic interior. young sam is standing with his hands behind his back and beaming proudly. vimes is standing behind him with his hand on his shoulder, wearing a shiny military uniform and a surly expression. sybil is sitting on the right with an arm around young sam, smiling at the viewer. a plumed helmet is sitting on a table on the left. end id.]
The bizly character formula is thus: First of all a past that they drag around with them like stones on their feet, a burden that is so impactful on them that it's also an intrinsic part of them, inseparable from who they are. second of all abandonment issues, or familial issues. then you make them at least a bit of an asshole, if not outright morally....questionable. AND you gotta throw in at least a little bit of soul crushing guilt over something or other at some point. generally they are also greasy little pathetic bastards who always end up being at least a little bit queer. I am right.
We as a society do not talk enough about how Kaz Brekker, Dirtyhands himself, the Bastard of the Barrel, carved an entire underground tunnel from his club ... To his besties house
There is no explanation for this other than that he is king softy
Like just imagine how much money that would cost, and how much work. Like sure bro is rich as fuck but like be fr, there is no way he would do all that for crime and gang business, it's just not practical. Like take the surface roads it costs nothing and it's probably not that much slower
Like bro fr just wanted a secret short cut so he could drop in on his babes whenever he wants and never be seen by the masses
Got a reputation to uphold after all
Can't have the pigeons seeing Dirtyhands taking another trip to the Geldstraat to visit his favourite boys
...RIPe Banana, I guess.
He remembers nothing like this! Not his crew, nor how he died- simply that he was cursed, and he wants to possess another pirate to live out his days on the surface again.
His control over the ship is limited as he can only usually drag it across the sea floor. It's become an extension of him, as any damage to it will directly affect him as well :]
people treating either dirk or jake as the 'villain' of the relationship fundamentally misunderstand that they were isolated teenagers with social issues who both contributed to the relationship's problems, and neither of them are evil
