jess has always been the bad boy of stars hollow since he moved. that is a fact. and when he meets you it completely throws him off because how can someone be so happy and sweet, and so beautiful at the same time?

obviously he’s not known for being optimistic… so when you meet him while working at luke’s, you try to make it your personal mission to have jess smile at least once a shift

luke thinks it’s great that you two have to work together because jess badly needs a good influence, and you’ve known luke since you were young so you’re completely and entirely trusted with the shop when luke goes fishing and whatever

jess is astounded

and then the way you treat the customers

even kirk likes you- he thinks you’re a wonderful break from whatever the hell luke’s attitude is

you’ve memorized everyone’s regular orders and never fail to serve someone without a smile on your face

at first it kinda pissed jess off tbh because he thinks it’s an act and not genuine

but as he gets to know you better he realizes that you’re just a really lovely sunshiney person no matter what, and hey, maybe you’re rubbing off on him a bit after all

one time he leaves his book at the counter while he’s on a break and you run up to the apartment to give it to him, even though there’s a backlog of customers

“you forgot your book downstairs”

he kind of stares at you, a smile creeping up

“thanks”

“you’re welcome”

more awkward pauses

“you should really use a bookmark, you know, it’s bad for the pages if you bend them like that”

“you read?”

“yeah. you should really start a new book, though. that one had a super unsatisfying ending”

“oh yeah?”

that’s when everything changes for him

the next shift he comes to work on your day off and you’ve left him a small package beside the coffee machine with his name in cursive on it

it’s a book

your handwriting is inside the front cover with a little note to him

‘for jess, this is my favorite book, don’t bend the pages please :)’

and then there’s a homemade bookmark

from then on you guys start trading books

and he starts smiling at you more

you guys get closer and more attached, working perfectly in sync at the diner- you’ll have the fries done at the same time he’s grilled a burger, so that everything stays warm for the customers

jess also starts doing more little things for you: wiping down the counter, helping clean up so you can go home earlier, giving you all the tips in the tip jar even though technically he deserves half

until one day you come into work late, eyes rimmed with red, furiously blinking tears away

he’s never seen you like this, so obviously he has to fix it

because you’re y/n l/n. you’re the sunshine of stars hollow

lorelai and rory are there, and so he asks lorelai to help man the coffee

jess takes you upstairs to his room, away from prying eyes, and asks you what’s wrong, cause he can tell

you just burst into tears

“hey hey hey, you’re okay, what’s wrong?”

cue protective jess.

through the tears you tell him how you’re overwhelmed with school, homework, the pressure to get into a good university, and how you feel like you’re supposed to handle it all by yourself

jess knows it’s not the time for wisecracks

so he wipes away the tears from your cheeks and listens as you talk

when you’ve calmed down, you hug him as a thank you

jess has never really been hugged before. luke and his mom aren’t very affectionate, especially physically

when you finally pull away, his touch lingers

and you kiss him on the cheek very quickly

that’s when jess knows you’re the one

you’ll always be his sunshine, even through both of your worst moments

and he knows he’s going to spend the rest of his life with you, and devote his days to hearing you laugh

but that’s a story for another time

I love you..." his voice rings in your ears.

"You're so beautiful..." his words make your skin crawl.

"Are you listening?" You have no choice.

From the moment your mother made you let him in to the note on the school board to shuffling down the isle this morning, you were miserable.

Possibly the only enjoyable part of this was seeing how proud your mother was the whole way through. She had fixed up her old wedding dress and fitted it to you. She made you up like a doll for the ceremony. And as your father walked you down the isle you could see tears falling from her eyes. He was so happy. It would have been discomforting if you had thought too much into it though.

Gilbert stared in astonishment as you walked down the aisle in the church. When you arrived at the altar you wanted so badly to repeat the same actions as Prissy had. Run out of the church and into the field. But you couldn't bring yourself to do it.

After the ceremony the reception was held. Your family and friends all told stories of both you and Gilbert- which were very much exaggerated for the occasion.

Anne had written a poem, Josey made a few snide comments, Ruby talked up every interaction you'd had with Gilbert as if she hadn't been in love with him just a year ago.

It all made you so sick that you couldn't even swallow your food.

Finally you were here. In Gilbert's home. Bash in the room next door caring for his baby, and Gilbert hugging you from behind, his face in the crook of your neck.

"Are you listening Y/N?" He repeats, giving your body a small squeeze. You nod, tears sliding down your cheeks and over your nose. "I'm sorry..." he takes a deep breath.

"For what?" You ask, knowing the answer. He'd done this countless of times in the last few months. Apologizing but never changing.

"I want you to be happy..." you don't respond. It's easier to tune him out. "I'm aware you didn't want thus marriage..." you've fought him every step of the way on this. "So I'm sorry for forcing this onto you..." he's not sorry. He's quite right happy with himself. "But I do love you." The tears begin streaming down your face. "and I'll make sure you're happy. We can have a happy little family- if you want!" He stutters a bit. "We don't have to have kids if you don't want any. It's up to you." He thinks for a second. "It could just be us- and Bash and Delphine, of course."

This isn't love, to you. It's possession. It's kidnapping. It's grotesque and disgusting. Love is supposed to be flowery and sweet.

Maybe you could've had a real romance if Gilbert had approached you correctly; Walked up to you in class, talked to you about your day, invited you over for a nice meal and took your wants and needs into consideration. But that's not what he did. He went to your parents, who gave him his guaranteed spouse. It was as if nothing you thought or felt mattered.

"I love you, Y/N..." he leans over and kisses you on the cheek. "You don't have to say it back." Then reaches over and blows out the candle.

You rub your eyes dry and your cheek raw.

alright here we go, this is hc of some of my favourite boys and one girl with a short s/o. like quite short, like 4’11/5’0. this honestly became more general hcs but they still focus on height factors.

includes: leo valdez, connor stoll, gilbert blythe, carter kane and kate bishop

disclaimer: these are just my personal opinions so please don’t be mean if you don’t agree. also lmk if i’ve made any mistakes regarding canonical facts about these characters.

pronouns: i think i only used pronouns once in this and it was they/them so anyone could read this although some head cannons were more geared towards a female audience as i myself am female.

leo valdez:

-starting off strong with our short king, mr. leo valdez

-he is canonically about 5’6 so we’re going to go with that

-he’s a little shit

-just putting that out there

-1000% using you as an armrest

-asking you to grab something for him that he knows for a fact you can’t reach

-the whole package of teasing

-but can we really blame him

-he’s been the shorty for a while and he enjoys finally having someone shorter

-now leo i hc as a little spoon

-just because our boy has some major trauma

-but if you were a demigod too you would probably have a whole lot of trauma as well

-we love

-anyway with the height difference i feel like he would big spoon a bit more but you bet he is still laying on your chest with his face in your boobs (for anyone who has them) or just your chest (for everyone else)

-anyone messes with you they mess with him

-which isn’t very intimidating as he’s also short

-but he makes up for it with attitude

-all in all leo will be a bitch about your height but he will also love being taller just the same

connor stoll:

-next comes my one of my favourite demigods

-idk why i love him so much but i do so ya

-let’s start with his height bc he’s a tall lad

-all we get from the books is ‘tall’

-so i hc him to be around 6’3

-i also think travis is about 6’2 so a little bit shorter than connor

-and boy he will not shut up about it

-but i’m getting carried away

-as you can imagine this is a biggg height difference

-probably the biggest one i’m gonna be writing about

-it’s like 15-16 inches so ya

-you don’t even come up to his shoulder

-kisses are always a struggle but you make do

-he picks you up

-you stand on a chair

-he sits on a chair

-it works fine

-he is another little shit

-wow i seem to have a type

-this time it’s even more extreme of a height difference tho so it’ll be sooo fun for you

-that was very sarcastic if you couldn’t tell ^

-he will toss you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and parade you around while you whack at his back

-and if you ask him to get something for you

-don’t expect it within the next hundred years because he will hold it just out of your reach so you have to literally climb him to get it

-unless it’s something you need of course because he’s secretly a sweetheart that would so anything for you

-in terms of cuddling, im assuming you already know it would be very hard for you to be the big spoon

-wow i just realized that this height difference is giving those draco fanfics where y/n is like 4’11 and not like other girls

-back to cuddling tho

-i think it would be okay because i see him as more of a big spoon anyway

-or he would like to have you lying on his chest

-i generally feel like protectiveness in battle would be about equal both ways

-and he’s the quiet jealous type so i feel like if a guy was like flirting he wouldn’t necessarily do anything

-only if the guy got like to touchy or aggressive like i mentioned before

-i’m sorry i just love him so much

-so all in all he would be annoying but he would have so much respect for you and your abilities even with your height

gilbert blythe:

-alright we’re switching fandoms now

-for the first time in forever i don’t think he’s a little shit about your height

-gilbert is around 5’8

-but for my self indulgence let’s say he’s around 5’10

-because he gives decently tall guy vibes

-so that means we have ourselves a height difference of around 10-11 inches

-he really just sees your height as a way to coddle and protect you

-which obviously you don’t need

-but it being the late 19th century we got all the big strong man stereotypes

-he’s not possessive or anything though

-just protective

-especially from a certain someone

-because i hc that our boy had late puberty and a late growth spurt

-i hope you enjoyed the small amount of time being taller than him

-i don’t think he ever really payed attention to his height

-or others heights for that matter

-my guy was travelling so much and had like no friends his age so i don’t think he had much of a perception of how tall he should be

i has an idea

im sleepy so just bear with me im gonna start rambling, this is basically for me so i can come back after my sleep amnesia and decide whether its worth writing or not

to anyone who reads this pls keep in mind this is actually for moi lol so if there will be very random details

okay this is like a halal romance type something

we have our main fmc (like 17-18?) who decides she needs a job so she starts working at her local ice skating rink because she really loves ice skating. [She's a muslim hijabi btw] The person who runs the management allows her to work there and use the rink for free during her breaks. So she works 3 days a week, 4 hours, with 1hr breaks in between. [total 5 hours] She's been working there for a year or so and she saves enough money to buy her own ice skates, pays for training with a group and gets really good. oh, and She's super good at her studies, and very organised. She gets promoted to manager so now she has higher pay, she is better at ice skating, she gets more time to train, her boss leaves her alone to man the stalls because she's super trustworthy and yeah life is going great.

then we have our mmc. he basically crashes into our fmc practical and perfect life. he is joining to work there as well since the ice skating rink has gotten super popular over the last year so they need more people. Since fmc is manager there she is requested to train the newbie in return for [something idk higher pay? more breaks?]. and she is not happy about it but the offer was too good to be true. [okay extremely random but now im imagining the guy as a Lebanoni person, he's muslim too obvi, and tell ME WHY DOES HE LOOK LIKE A MIX OF GILBERT BLYTHE AND MATHEO RIDDLE IN MY HEAD!?? HELP its the hair]

okay anyway girlie does NOT like him, he's too uppity and she likes being in control [this is definitely sunshine x grumpy trope, girl is the grumps if that wasnt obvious enough]. anyway long story short they fall in love [all halal dw], the guy helps her overcome her fears and helps her become a better muslim [random plotline: the girl was accidentally missing her prayers because of her work so she would just skip it but seeing the guy pray everyday without fail at the workplace makes her want to pray better as well and they both pray together how cute is that] and the guy has lots of home problems so the girl listens to him and comforts and they both brainstorm solutions. they both are silly people after they get to know each other. girl becomes less uptight, guy becomes more responsible and can better express his feelings [can u tell he uses humour as a coping mechanism] They both learn about each others cultures and the guy also wants to learn ice skating because the girl is 👌👌 so she tries to teach him ice skating very fun very cute anyway they wanna get married etc happy ending.

3 Ships: there are so many. ok: obi-wan/cody for the serious adult/serious adult content my heart craves, apollo/klavier because i LOVE an anxious weirdo and what's better than 1 anxious weirdo?? and finally peter/harriet on account of all the heyer mysteries i've been reading and there are some good and fun romances in them but truly nobody did it like peter and harriet.

First Ship Ever: i have forgotten the specifics of the chronology of my youth. Nancy Drew & Ned Nickerson or Anne Shirley & Gilbert Blythe, likely. han & leia also, possibly. i watched the original trilogy straight through on a snow day so i wasn't left in suspense about them for very long but i did very very badly want it to happen. the first ship i ever read fic for, however, was mulder & scully.

Last Song: the Glass Onion score while doing some research, but i currently have Transgender Dysphoria Blues by Against Me! playing on a loop in my head (not a complaint)

Last Movie: watched Invitation to a Murder last night after finding it on a wikipedia list of films set in the 1930s. i have been reading almost exclusively books written and set in the 30s and i just wanted to see it. i like the unpretentious nature of tv movies so an american-made straight-to-streaming take on a Christie country house mystery should have been right up my alley but mostly i was bothered by how wrong the breakfast service was.

Currently Reading: just finished one heyer (A Blunt Instrument) and immediately started another (No Wind of Blame)

Currently Watching: nothing. i am very weird about tv.

Currently Consuming: just finished the contraband (a peanut butter cup cookie from the cafe)

Currently Craving: it's still fucking pimento cheese

my thoughts on “my life with the walter boys”

i do not like cole as a love interest

alex reminds me of the awae gilbert blythe

i know they are a sophmore and a junior but it feels freshman/senior

this feels like it came out in 2017

is alex my favorite character? yes, yes he is

see i thought “i don’t hate cole as a person, just as a love interest” but i was wrong i just think i don’t like him at all

i am obsessed with alex

i will be pissed if she ends up with cole

why are you avoiding him? why would she avoid him?

erin deserves better

okay finally it’s already been five episodes

Liam didn’t notice the edge of annoyance that Theo made sure to put into his sigh. He hasn’t noticed any time before, but why would he start now? Liam’s been glued in front of his TV for the better part of—Theo checks the time—six fucking hours now, not bothering to pay a lick of attention to Theo, who’s been laying on the beta’s bed the entire time, bored out of his goddamn mind.

Theater kid meet ups were a usual thing after the musical, obviously. They weren’t going to stop hanging out just because there wasn’t a production to keep them busy and together, and really, they had made some great friendships that fall. Sure, it was tense at first, but the teens valued friendship far more than petty rivalries and less than ideal relationship drama.

Winifred Rose had a truly splendid time at the fair. Avonlea was a beautiful town and its inhabitants fit the mold perfectly. It reminded her of a puzzle, but she was the wrong piece for the game board of Avonlea. Her place was somewhere else.

She had fun with her family and with Gilbert and meeting everyone he knew. The entire day was a fresh breath of air Winnie so desperately needed. There was just one problem.
