hi rly enjoyed ur post on elysian realm! ik ur a new fan (i am too) but i heard that before retcon, elysia was a lot more morally gray. would you happen to know how exactly?? im rly curious bc i think it would be a severe improvement obviously. we deserve complex women who do wrongs

So when I say retcon in relation to the elyrealm arc it's less so "things they changed because of the story evolving and wanting to expand previously established events" and more "things they straight up forgot about in service of making Elysia a herrscher". It's not like hi3 is a stranger to retcons though?

For example, Durandal being the "original" Kiana is a retcon. The fact that our Kiana was a clone remained the same, but it's clear from older story stuff (iirc it's Everlasting Memory/Theresa's chronicle set?; second eruption manga doesn't focus on the Kiana part) that Durandal wasn't originally there. Otto refers to Kiana as K-423, and that Theresa needs to retrieve her, which implies that Theresa knows it's not Siegfried and Cecilia's kid, but her distress remains the same. The later game retcon by Thus Spoke Apocalypse is that OG!Kiana and Siegfried were going to go retrieve K-423, but OG!Kiana ended up injured and so Siegfried only left with K-423. And if you're confused then so am I because the details don't really super line up with the presentation, but it's like, fine, because at the end of the day the current writing intention and trajectory is for Durandal and Kiana to be sisters, and to both be Siegfried's daughters.

Anyways, for Elysia, a lot of her retcons occur in a very rapid pace from the first realm chapter set to Elysium Everlasting. Like I mentioned in my last post, the herrscher reveal is nonsense just going off of basic information like the fact she received MANTIS surgery like all the other Flame Chasers. However, there are other plot threads that are completely dropped for the sake of making Elysia a very special good girl who you should love because she's so nice and never did anything bad.

Elysia the traitor plot is something I was, well not hopeful for (a friend had already warned me that the game wouldn't do anything interesting with it] but I still ended up mulling it over a lot because it was such an interesting hinge piece for her initial presentation.

What stands out to me is the phrasing. Kevin says she never endangered humanity even if she was a traitor. Kevin says that Elysia made a decision. This implies agency, like Elysia was actively choosing to do something dangerous for the sake of the Flame Chasers. However, if Elysia was a herrscher from the beginning, then none of this makes sense. She doesn't choose to be a herrscher if she was one from the beginning, so why even make it seem like her betrayal was her choice at all?

[Traitor - Chapter 1]

It doesn't stop there though. Mobius' active disdain implies that whatever choice Elysia made, it was enough to make Mobius of all people consider her a lost cause. Mobius, who body mods and injects honkai energy into anyone with a pulse (hyperbole) to try and make humanity last just the slightest bit longer.

[Traitor - Chapter 1]

Mobius wants us to doubt Elysia's intentions. If you go through all their shared information, you'll find that the worst Elysia really does is just... coerce Mobi to wear pink dresses, and while that is obnoxious, it wouldn't warrant utter contempt for Elysia as a person.

There's actually a lot of stray text that implies there's something wrong about Elysia's existence, which I guess in generous terms could be interpreted as setup for the herrscher reveal? But it just feels like it's just there to add to the mystery that won't go anywhere.

[The Blind Spot - Recollection]

This right here nags at me. Deeply so. Elysia isn't so much a character as much as she is just a concept, the idea of a story that could be told. Not even in the canon-compliant weird endgame hook meta-textual breakout in Transcending Finality about the power of stories... Although, there's a way to introduce it here and tie it to Elysia to give some semblance of connectivity.

I went this long without actually giving my thoughts on how to make Elysia's writing good though. Disclaimer for clarity sake I know not everyone will agree with the changes I want to make and I'm also not claiming to be a more skilled writer than anyone in the hi3 team, they're all people with enough talent to be employed by the company.

That out of the way.

This isn't so much about making Elysia morally grey as much as it is about giving her an emotional core, because right now she's pretty hollow. Rather than a pristine girl who never did anything wrong, I'd rather cast her as a romantic, tragic heroine who would move heaven and fate just to seem noble.

Elysia was born human. Maybe she loved stories, and how they transported her to far off places, far far far away from the tiny town she was growing up in. When she was old enough, she traveled the world. Honkai descends. Because she was a globe trotter she ended up connected to many people, and was given the chance to join the MOTH organization. She gets MANTIS surgery. As the number of soon-to-be Flame Chasers grow, discussion begins about if the strength of the soldiers is enough.

'Maybe, if I had power comparable to a herrscher, we could fight with less casualties.'

She doesn't say this out loud, of course. It's a dangerous thought, a line that shouldn't be crossed. But she's curious. She breaks into Mobius' lab [Miss Pink Spy - Pristine Memory] to find the information she wants. Mobius figures out her intentions and warns Elysia off. It's not even in consideration, so keep whatever plan you have in mind off the table before you do something irreversible.

Mobius thought that Elysia gave up on the plan after the seventh erruption. The haunted look behind Kevin's eyes, the sadness creasing Elysia's face, all of it makes it seem like a simple consideration forgotten by the sands of time.

Elysia doesn't have a discipline. She told Dr. Mei it wasn't needed since her combat performance was well above standard margins anyways. (She is on par with Kevin in strength, after all.) At least, we all thought she didn't. A deal is made with Aponia.

Aponia, Aponia, apostle of fate, I offer you my 'humanity' to become a 'story'.

Elysia cannot receive any more disciplines. The target has to be "human". Elysia as a story, unchanging, pristine, capable of remaining as she is without blemish, can reach out and become a herrscher while remaining herself. She's desperate. She wants to help. She reaches into the deep, the start of the universe, and gathers the power. She names it Origin, since it's something she found at the source.

She's a herrscher.

Herrschers are an enemy of humanity.

Kevin runs her through with Shamash.

Elysia is still herself though, talking like she would as usual.

-Oh Kevin, I wanted to know if your tears would freeze, but I was hoping it wouldn't be like this. They're so warm, though. Thank you for crying for me.

-I see no herrscher here, just... the flame chaser, bearing the signet of ego.

The Elysian Realm keeps a secret. Aponia keeps it, the fact that Elysia gave up her humanity. The final banquet? A polite way to refer to Elysia's own demise.

It's sad, isn't it? That strength she wanted to give fell right through her fingers. Her own undoing, the desperate plan of a foolish girl who wanted to be a hero, but only ending up as a villain to oppose. It's so much more meaningful, then, that Elysia's gift, the power of sapience, is kept on to the next cycle of humanity. Held again, the power of ego, of humans, to someone with a kind heart to move beyond the past she's trapped in. Thank you, Raiden Mei, for carrying on the ideals of the thirteen trailblazers, the moths who chase the flame.

And that was always so obviously apparent to onlooking eyes.

"shhh" Taehyung reached up and grabbed another apple from the tree, tossing it into the bowl he carried in the other hand.

You two had recently made an expensive upgrade from your small city apartment in Busan to a small cottage house in Gwangju.

Your mothers health had not been the best within the past year, and it became difficult to travel over to her so often, so Taehyung made the decision to move closer for convince, now she was more accessible.

He also appreciated the smaller atmosphere of the country side, he actually had a yard now, which he was going to take advantage of immediately.

You've only been in the new house for a month and a half and he's already burning bridges with the neighbors, who are a much older couple and dont seem too pleased with the idea of 20 something year olds living beside them.

"didn't they "accidentally" mow over your new flowers?" tae points out, as if its some competition with the 62 year old husband next door.

"he apologized" you cross your arms, watching your boyfriend pick from their fruit trees.

You raise an eyebrow as he stands beside you.

"we can make apple pie, baby!" he smirked and walked to the side, entering your house as you giggled, following behind. Apple pie does sound convincing, you have to admit.

He walked to the kitchen and placed the bowl down, smiling at you as you picked up Yeontans toys scattered around the living room. "you know.." he adjusted his farmers hat that he insisted he bought so he fit the role of the town, "im gonna build you that porch swing you always wanted"

"yeah?" you giggled, listening to his voice from the other room.

"and I'll build you a nice white wooden fence around here.." he points out the window, "so we can have all our privacy, and then I'll build you a treehouse, so when we have kids we can hang in there and we can paint it and-"

You hug him as you walk into the room, taking his hat off as you put it on yourself. "youre so caring and considerate, my love"

Taehyung blushed and hugged you back, "because I love you"

"i love you too, country boy" you poked his chest, smirking. "and you know we can build the tree house now, why wait for kids? we can have fun in there I think. Put a tv up, snacks, pillows-"

Taehyung informed you that he was taking you out on a small date tonight, but refused to disclose exactly where or why.

It was not often the two of you got to go out together anywhere, He had to transfer jobs when you both moved, meaning he went from a college art teacher, to a full time elementary school art teacher, which was in his words, "more enjoyable then teaching college kids".

Meanwhile, you were lucky enough to join the arts and culture center as an activities director, meaning you helped out plays and performances as well as acting in them. It wasn't too different from your job in Busan, the only real change is the people you worked with were much younger and around your age, which helped make you feel more comfortable.

bottom line, You and Taehyung were working all the time every day, leaving weekends the only time for you two to be alone. So when he told you he had something planned, you didnt want to question it too much, instead, you wanted to appreciate it.

A while later, you both had hopped into the car, he drove to the unknown destination while you put lipstick on in the overhead mirror of the passenger seat.

"please dont hit the pothole, I want to look good not like a clown" you mumble, lining your lips with the dark red coloring.

Taehyung giggled and looked over, "you do look good, baby, seriously" his hand rested on your thigh.

"did I overdress?" you look at him, "you wont tell me where we are going so I assumed to wear something sort of nice?"

He nodded, "you look amazing, not overdressed, promise"

You trusted his word as you pulled into the parking lot of a restaurant that reserved near a small lake, it really was beautiful, and for someone who grew up near the area, you've never seen or heard of this place before.

The sky became dark as you two walked in, he smiled and made sure to hold your hand, his cologne creating a comforting aroma for you.

"hi! reservation under Kim" he mumbled to the woman as she checked the laptop.

"for 3?" she looked up

"yeah" taehyung glanced at you nervously as you raised a brow.

"three?"

You followed the waitress to a window seat where you were met with your mother sitting, she had a wide grin plastered across her face as she saw both of you two.

"mom?" you giggled, running over to hug her as she sat in her wheelchair

Tae smiled softly as he stood behind you, a hand on your lower back before he hugged your mom too. Once you both sat down, you stared at taehyung waiting for an explanation as to why, although a pleasant surprise, your mother was here on date night.

He cleared his throat, "I just thought we could all use a night to just sit down and eat without having to worry about cooking" he smirked, your mother trying to hold in her giggle as she agreed, "yup"

You seemed confused, you didnt mind cooking a dinner for everyone if she wanted to come over to your house, but you suppose its the thought that counts.

Throughout the meal, you all shared small conversations that seemed casual, other than the fact your mother and taehyung kept sharing similar glances, making you suspicious.

"is there some kind of joke I dont know about?" you suddenly spoke up, pouting as you took a bite of potato.

"no baby, why do you say that?" he asked, reaching to hold your hand

"dunno.." you shrug, looking around.

Taehyung began to grow more nervous and fidgety as the night went on, even more so as you excused yourself to use the restroom.

Your mother put her hand on his back, whispering, "dont be nervous, taehyung, youre giving it away you know" she laughed

Taehyung ran his hands over his face, "ahh I know but...what if she-"

"she loves you, she wouldnt have put up with your shit this long if she hadnt"

"true..." he chuckles , sitting up as you return to your seat.

"lets order dessert" your mother suggested, making you nod and smile

"good idea, do you guys wanna get the ice cream float and we can all share it? its pretty big.."

Taehyung was suddenly too anxious to even speak casually as he looked at you "yeah, sounds good." he spoke flatly, his eyes drawing to the live band that sat across the room you were in. He smiled and got up, walking over to them as you and your mom discussed dessert.

"hello, do you take requests?" he whispered, hopeful.

"we do!" the man cheerfully replied, taking his earpiece out so he could here the young boy. "what would you like to hear?"

Taehyung looked back to make sure you werent paying attetion, "well...um, do you guys think could play this?" he showed him his phone

That song held a certain significance in yours and Taehyungs relationship.

every couple had a song, and that just happened to be yours.

He had a deep love for music from the 50's, constantly playing vinyls throughout the house that echoed most nights as you came through the door after a long work day.

You loved to consider Tae a classical romantic, the kind to make you a cd with all of his oldies on his after you two get into a fight, which he's done before.

Taehyung returned to the table, smiling at the dessert on the table as you lifted the spoon to his mouth, "taste it baby, its so good"

He chuckled, taking the spoon and wiping his lips, "that is good my love"

He reached out to hold your hand over the table as you began talking, your mother couldn't help but tear up at the sight of how much love was budding between her daughter and this boy so obviously.

The current song playing through the restaurant came to an end, and taehyung nervously swallowed his wine, his foot bouncing not going unnoticed to your eye.

The gentle instrument began, alerting you immediately as you stopped mid-convo with your mom to look around, gasping, "tae! its our song! they are playing our song!"

He smiled gently, looking across at you as your face lit up. God, you were so beautiful. "yeah, it is..." he mumbled, eyes only drawn on you.

Hurry back, hurry back Oh my love hurry back I'm yours

you turned to your mom to explain how you and him always hear this song on the radio, like it follows you everywhere.

"lets dance?" he gently nudged your hand, nodding towards the center of the room where much older couples swayed slowly in the dimness.

You blushed, "now..?"

"why not, baby?" he took one last sip of his wine, hoping to gain any courage he could as he stood and grasped your hand, slowly leading you away from the table to the floor.

Your mother pulled her phone out and filmed, if you werent so caught up in taehyung right now you would have noticed her not-so-slick grin.

His hands rested on your hips, pulling him closer as you looked up at him, blushing once more.

"why you always so shy, baby?" he whispered, nudging his nose against yours.

"im not" you reply, giggling

"mm yeah you are"

You shook your head, swaying with him slowly as you rested against his chest. In that moment you heard his heart beating rather quickly.

"why is your heart beating so fast?" you whispered, closing your eyes."

For my heart wants you only Hurry home, hurry home

"is it?" he played dumb, resting his head against yours.

The softly played music and warmness of his body against yours made you almost forget where you were. You didnt care if people stared, you felt so in love in this moment, and almost protested for another song as it came to a close.

Taehyung took a deep breath and exhaled, spinning you around slowly as he looked at you, in a way youve never seen before.

"taehyung?"

He smiled gently, the instrumental playing in the back as the floor cleared out.

"Y/N" he whispered, grabbing your hand as he slowly sunk down to one knee. Your heart froze, hand covering your mouth as you immediately caught on.

"y/n"....he looked up at you with eyes so nervous yet hopeful, you wanted to cry out of the amount of love you had in your body for this boy. "I...Ive loved you for so long, you are my other half and have always been. Without you, theres no way I would be here today as the person as I am, you make me a better man, and I cant imagine going a single day without you beside me" he was now crying as he spoke, the entire room watching with careful eyes, "we know eachother better than anyone, and all I want to....all I want to do baby is love, and spoil, and take care of you for the rest of our lives. Let me make you mine, forever, my beautiful girl" he whispered as tears of your own fell.

Suddenly his previous behavior made sense, watching him reach into his back pocket to pull out the small black box.

As a little girl, you dreamed of this moment, the moment someone will love you enough to offer you their life and promise to treat you with care. You began to fear that moment would never come, but now as you stand here with the love of your life, looking at you so passionately with the ring in his hand as he patiently waited for your response,

It was straight out of a fairy tale.

"will you marry me, beautiful? and let me pick apples for you for the rest of time?"

You giggled, wiping away your tears as you nodded quickly, "y-yes, yes! over and over again, yes" you have him stand so you can kiss him, the room erupting in applause as you do so.

He kissed you deeply, pulling away and pressing his forehead to yours, "I love you..."

"I love you too.....so much"

You watched as he slid the ring onto your finger, making everything seem so real. "oh, wow...this is so beautiful" you sniffed, leaning against him as you looked at your hand.

"yeah? you like it baby?" he smiled, kissing your head, "im glad"

You made your way back to the table to hug your mom, who, by the way, was an absolute mess.

"I filmed it all" she spoke, wiping her teary eyes.

"were you behind this, mama?" you giggled, kissing her cheek as she nodded, "you know I always am"

You looked at taehyung as he sat with you two, nodding.

"about a month ago after we moved here, I spoke to your mom about me proposing, and she gave me her blessing under one condition..." he trailed off

"that im here to see it" she finished softly, making you smile sadly.

"oh mama..." you sniff, hugging her again.

Your mothers health has taken a turn for the worse recently, leaving things a lot more difficult for you. Time and life is never a given, so for taehyung to go out of his way to make sure she was here to see such an important moment, knowing how much it means to you, made you love the man even more....if that was possible.

"thank you" you whispered to tae, looking at him with teary eyes.

He wiped them softly, kissing you delicately. "My baby, I love you so much"

Once the night was over, you and Taehyung were sat inside of your house once more.

It felt different, like someone flipped a switch and suddenly life was a lot brighter. You still had your entire future to see, and now taehyung has just promised to be there with you, and to share each beautiful moment. Things could not have been lovelier.

"I cannot wait to be your wife"

"and I cannot wait to be your husband"

You giggle, brushing his hair back with your fingers as your eyes glued onto his, the bed was warm, large blankets covering your bodies.

"I seriously.....dont know what I would have done without you. I never assumed I would marry my best friend" you whisper, thumb brushing his cheek. "Im lucky enough to have known my person my whole life"

He smiled warmly, palm placed on the back of your hand. "we dont have to worry about what ifs, or ever fear being lost again, yeah? I'm never gonna leave you"

You kissed his nose before nuzzling into his neck.

"I adore you...and I cannot wait to see all of the adventures life has in store for us" he mumbled, rubbing your back.

"I cant wait either....i just hope everything goes smoothly"

"oh things will be crazy, we attract crazy" he teased, earning a laugh from you, "but we can handle it.....we always do."

"yeah, we do" you whisper, looking down at the shiny ring that now sat proudly on your finger.

it symbolized a new chapter in your life, and God, you were so ready to enter it headfirst with Taehyung. Through thick and thin, you were his.

On Conventions, and why it is good that Roosterteeth is getting rid of RTX.

So, many people have probably already noticed and have been made aware that RTX is not happening this year. I have seen many reactions to these news, anger, joy, satisfaction, dismay etc. What i have also seen is people asking some good questions and making some bad conclussions too, like for example the person talking about how RTX made RT money and the like, so i wanted to put my two cents in.

Do be aware that im not an expert, nor an event organizer myself, the information i will share here has been gathered mostly from the comments and statements made by organizers and those who have participated in these events.

Conventions arent profitable

First things first, everyone should keep this in their minds moving forward. CONVENTIONS ARE NOT PROFITABLE. There are exceptions of course, but at large, most conventions operate at a loss, especially those that occur in the United States.

It all comes down to cost versus earnings ratio, which more often than not, does not fall to the side of earnings. To make a convention, one has to organize a venue, staff, events, security, decorations, catering and many such associated details. Venues alone cost a LOT of money, this is not like me, a random Eastern European dude renting out a specially prepared cottage for a party with friends, Venues are specifically made and built for conventions, they are extremelly sought after and they KNOW it, as such their costs are often jacked up to high heavens, especially since things like location matter to them extremelly. The problem is even worse in the United States where many venues jack up the prices to, quite frankly, criminal ammounts.

Earnings for such events are also, not amazing. Lets remember, most of these conventions are fan-events. So if a convention isnt sponsored by a corporation, most of its earnings will be things like ticket sales, people renting out space for vendors etc, sometimes signatures and even auctions.

As such, most "profitable" conventions are the low-key ones. The ones that are small-scale, that can get cheaper venues, and thus save on the costs while being able to profit.

Big companies can afford to make big conventions at a loss because to them, its partially a flex and partially an advertisement for the company. Think of things like Blizzcon.

RT however is in a shit position of NOT being a big enough company to spend money willy nilly, but also, their conventions are not small enough, to turn in a profit either.

Cutting Fat is good

RT is not in a good state. Those critical of the show and the company in general have known that for a long time now, despite the crying and bleating of some of the biggest of fanatics that "RT IS DOING GREAT GUYS!" and other such nonsense. We know RT is in a shit state, they know that they are in a shit state, everyone with open eyes knows they are in a shit state.

As such, cutting costs is actually good.

For a long time RT has acted as a "big" company due to the success of RWBY. When RWBY blew up, so did RT, they expanded into other animated projects, started high-profile conventions, started hiring TOP class VA's etc. The thing is, the golden years dont always last.

Many a Youtuber has said as much over the years, many of them have shared that they know that they wont be popular forever, and those smart among them build up nest-eggs from the money they earn on Youtube and streaming in general.

If a youtuber refuses to accept that they are becoming less popular, well, their ending can be less than pretty. The same applies to companies like RT. After RWBY became less popular, RT did not have the golden goose anymore. They could not afford to make stupid financial decisions anymore.

So now, they are trimming the fat.

Which is good.

Possible brighter future

Hope for the best, but expect the worst, that is my current opinion on this. Trimming the fat and tightening up that belt might result in RT being able to squeeze out some smaller profile shows and earn enough money to possibly come back to RWBY, or at least make a movie to end it.

It might help the company, and as far as im aware, this is the right step to take. At the same time, this can also just... Not be enough.

hi! congratulations on starting this next big chapter of your life!!

there are so many factors that will shape the experience for you (age, purpose, gender, home and host countries, changes to communication, goals, etc etc) so to speak as universally as possible, moving to a different country (even moving to a different town within the same country, really!) can be scary but it’s also an experience that is full of wonder and discovery. you’re going to grow a TON and become more resourceful and introspective, and over time you’re going to experience deep personal journeys into your identity and what makes you you, with a particular focus on national identity and what it means to be where you are from. you might have moments where you realize that you don’t know who you are, but from within these periods of philosophy you are going to find a love for yourself and a trust in yourself that will support you all life long.

i am an american and i left the US during the bush years. i remember at the time, for many reasons, it felt so freeing to leave —even if i was moving to japan, which in some aspects is a more collectivist country with a culture of conformity— to live in a very agnostic, orderly, safe environment. and in the beginning i was living in tokyo and there was such a vibrance and energy of big city life that really inspired and informed so much of my character. and i worked super hard at socializing with locals as opposed to only expats, which really opened my mind and heart to new ways of thinking and experiences that i might have shied away from if i just stuck to people like me.

the world has changed and gone back and forth so much since and it’s been such a roller coaster figuring out what parts of me are american and which are not, what it even means to be an american, etcetera, what it means to be a citizen of the world… but in the end im glad i made the choice to move. i still go back often but im glad to have two homes.

i’ve lived more than half my life here now, got married here, i have kids.. so speaking to your last part, as a parent now myself i want to encourage you to keep in contact with your parents often (**if you have a healthy relationship with them where you feel comfortable doing so), especially the first year. i remember my mom in particular being deeply sad and worried sick for me in a way that was so hard to understand. she would try to hide it but then she would email me every once in awhile to express concern and love and i could tell that she wanted to be with me and protect me and guide me. now as a mom of daughters i also understand this impulse. we had internet in the 2000s but things were much more isolated than they are now. technology is so much better and easier these days so i encourage starting a shared album with you parents and adding photos from your adventures, video chatting them or group chatting them when you can. this will mean the world to them in ways it’s hard to understand until you’re a parent/guardian yourself.

Hello! I am here to inform you that I would happily read a 10 page essay about Alduin's Bane. Spoilers are a highlight. Your Elder Scrolls lore is incredible and I am frothing at the mouth for more.

oh man now i have decision paralysis i have so much to talk about given the fic is over 150k (somehow. i cant believe i wrote that much) uhhhhhh im just gonna give some bullet points of what i can think of

>originally was going to just be a oneshot centered around the past that would have been the first 3-ish chapters but i liked it so much i had continued it

>hell i had debated actually naming eyja or not for a while lol

>originally fengr wasn't going to be in the story, but i actually liked him the more i thought about him. he is supposed to be the archtypical box art "dragonborn" bethesda markets (except two handed weapons instead of dual wielding). i thought he made a good foil and could help drive some of the character development and give eyja more to connect her to the world and also because i wanted to use him as a foil for another character

>i did intend for sheogorath to be the champion of cyrodiil. not everyone agrees with this theory but i liked it. i also hope i did a better job making the quest more interesting. i was really proud of connecting the weird, seemingly disjointed dream world quests to our main character's psyche and problems rather than being just a cheap joke

>i also LOVE sanguine if you couldn't tell. writing him was some of my favorite stuff. genuine chaos and debauchery. he technically had the right idea

>i had a big plan in mind for a side plot where The Gang currently (fengr, serana, eyja, alduin) run into cicero and the listener who were tasked with assassinating the dragonborn and instead ask for their help to take down astrid who they know is planning on turning on them. this was going to lead to a full blown assassination of the current emperor, but for the life of me i couldn't think of a satisfactory way to connect the plot to the rest of the story without feeling like i was forcing a block through a circular hole so it has been indefinitely tabled. if it makes it back in the story then it does but so far i'm not planning on it. but if you're wondering what happened to our dear little jester he is off helping rebuild the dark brotherhood with his wood elf listener

>in my fic to be mentioned later alduin actually got so angry he ripped off solstheim as a provide from mainland skyrim and flung it off into the ocean during a big ass battle

>i remember some ppl saying alduin could be akin to shiva. whether or not you like this idea or think it is credible i was a lil inspired by the myths of sati and parvati in the loosest of ways

>im still very proud that i made bleakfalls barrow originally designed and built to be eyja's tomb. in functions VERY much as a tutorial dungeon in many aspects with like blatant plot hooks in the form of the dragon stone and word wall that we just dont see in other tombs. not to mention it is very large and in your face, something you expect to be of bigger importance, and delphine wanted the dragon stone for some unexplained reason, so. head dragon priest's tomb it is. but alduin wouldn't actually let her be buried there, which only lead to credence to the mainstream belief that konahrik had defected or betrayed alduin and he had killed her in a rage.

>how she got the mask i just realized i never explained. basically my bullshit reason was she owns the mask. the mask was sealed off to wait for a new owner if one ever came, and then was lost to time. dragon priests arent really supposed to "die" in my telling of events so she got the mask by wandering in and it opened up for her assuming she was the original owner here to claim it. it does not do this for literally anyone else

>alduin kind of fucking sucked at sex. i hint at this in several ways but in their first lifetime he just fucking sucked at it. i cannot fully stress how just bad and clumsy he was. this immortal dragon god of the end of time was a complete virgin and it showed. if it wasn't for the fact he was a god she adored i dont think eyja would have put up with it. but luckily she taught him better.

>they were together i estimate in the ballpark of 60 years prior to her being killed. a very fun time for the people of skyrim given alduin wasnt randomly flying overhead to munch on them

>i wanna work more on serana and alduin's dynamic bc i think it is very funny. she's gotten over her panic into just normal rational fear and questioning her sanity of "wait the actual dragon god??? thats who im traveling with????"

>as far as dragon priests knew it was an open secret eyja and alduin were fucking. the general public didnt know but most of the priests knew. and most of the dragons but they were more confused by the concept of actually having sex which seemed weird in general

actual big spoilers under the cut for people who dont wanna see:

>fengr is, in the next little mini arc we're about to do with curing lycanthrope, about to be revealed as also a dragonborn. i like to imagine that was akatosh's back up plan or something. i wont reveal all of what the revelation entails to keep that fun and exciting

>also to be mentioned: molag bal has beef with alduin and eyja because her mask is actually made of daedric ivory. alduin went "i need a cooler material for her mask to be made out of" and went all the way to a realm of oblivion to kill one of molag bal's big ass daedra. this has lead to much of molag bal's beef with dragons

>several members of the thalmor were investigating the masks (this is canon) and took a particular interest in both eyja's and the time traveling unnamed mask. this wooden mask alduin had made in hopes it could bring eyja back (it failed)

>back to the sati and parvati myths uhhhh part of that has translated to miraak and his motivations. i hope you didn't have "miraak is past life eyja's ex" on your bingo card because you will not be able to check that off. miraak was her father.

>in that regard i had to think a lot about how having kids would be handled by dragon priests. i dont see miraak actually raising any children he had, and he probably had a variety of concubines and wives to sleep with as i imagine most of the other dragon priests did, but no time to actually get attached. so she probably only had some status and little interactions with him prior to this, but boy was miraak mad he couldnt just use her influence for his own gain. idk if i will get to mention all this part in my fic lol

>finding out one of his kids actually inherited his abilities led him down the path to trying to understand what dragonborn were. he thought he was a strange, special existence, but finding out there were more people like him made him wanna find out how they worked. this also invariably led to him experimenting on several of eyja's multitude of half siblings that died prior to him getting his hands on her. also prob wont get to mention all this in the fic

>in this vein i had the idea to make vahlok eyja's other parent but i didn't think it did much for the story so. i might go in the way of "helpful mentor" or just that he didnt fucking suck

existential crisis.

i have been having an existential crisis for about 3-4 weeks now which was kickstarted by me reading The Scret History by Donna Tartt whilst I was chilling at my home country. It is a good book and i had fun with it but it kinda pulled me out of my denial and ignorance about my own life and made me realise that "wow i am starting university this september". This may and june i did my A levels only 2 months after being dumped by my first ever long term proper partner who I really loved, valued and genuinely had a good relationship with. It was a hard time but it was very busy, I was either thinking about my ex, sad about him, crying about him etc and trying to calm myself and cheer myself, or I was studying. I was studying A LOT and all other time was either spent socialising, crying about my breakup or distracting myself watching TV and stuff. So ofc i didnt think about anything. Anyways after A levels I started doing fun things. going out etc and just having a good time but i started being a little hypochondriac and getting a lot of anxiety about my health particularly a few specific sensations.

Then I went to my home country for about 2 weeks and had a good time so i lowkey forgot about all this. THEN i came back to the UK and after having read the secret history I kinda realised that shittt im going to uni and I immediately felt trapped? I felt trapped in my city, regretting my decisions not to move out and overall feeling hopeless and sad and lonely and depressed thinking I need a HUGE change in my life to ever feel better. I even researched unis I could move to through clearing perhaps. Then the hypochondria came back and it got worse I even went tot he doctor and i didnt feel reassured so much so that the panic was with me all day from the moment i woke up to when I fell asleep.

Then it was results day. Literally yesterday. I woke up and found out i got into the uni i wanted to go to. It was early and I was sleepy so the whole situation didnt register in my mind until later that day I just felt anxious and sick due to both this and the hypochondria. Then I had a panic attack which lasted quite long, probably the longest I have ever had and so I went to my mum who helped me do a little breathing exercise. Then i started bawling my fucking eyes out. I am talking sooo much crying I had a full face of makeup and it ALL came off. It wasnt about the hypochondria or the panic. I was panicking about growing up. I was crying about getting older and going to university and entering a completely new life stage. Up until now I have gone to school and even though ive been looking forward to leaving school for years now it is terrifying. TERRIFYING. So yes I am feeling existential crisis I cant tell if i want everything to stay the same or change but i think in life things stay somewhere in between. I dont like being older and discussing adult things i think i am avoiding that I am older. I just want to stay youthful, hopeful and curious and I want to stay loving and soft. I am just scared of the world and change. I am also aching for change in a way.

i am sharing cause i looove when others share stories like this online so why not!!!!! i will for sure inform yall here on this accont how everything progresses and we can look back on this post with the power of retrospect soon (not too soon hopefully)

anyways cranberry was annoyed (and understandably so.) he said his gf was mad at him (impossible - if she was, shed be mad at ME first cos thats how women are. better than revenge is living proof. but she isnt! ) and i get it, but then people stop being mad, right? i mean, ive been really mad at him too, for a variety of reasons. i forgave him though and he didnt even apologize like i did! but he seemed normal at prom perhaps a bit icy? a guy friend told me im overthinkinngit and while he may have been annoyed it doesnt mean hd stop being friends with me or anything, and that he definitely wouldnt stay mad because its not a big deal.

he texted about it and i delved into a tiny argument he said its fine but "just think more next time". i think he and han both know i didnt mean for this to happen and that it was a genuine accident, but people gte hurt over things even if they know it wasnt meant to hurt them. shoulve said no is proof of this.

but they did send me a video of them reading the story together [cranberry and his friends, it was han who filmed (i did ask them to film their reaction)] and cranberry was cracking up as he read it! if he was mad he wouldve abandoned it. but they sill seemed to love it. surely if cranberry was mad at me, then that wouldnt have happened?

Pattie Boyd, marriage to George Harrison, Wikipedia

In March 1970, a month before the Beatles' break-up, Boyd moved with Harrison to Friar Park, a Victorianneo-Gothic mansion in Henley-on-Thames. I have read Georges book I, Me, Mine though and I don't remember him speaking much about his relationship with Pattie (could be remembering wrongly though?), so I probably wouldn't recommend that—although, its a book you can read in one sitting so maybe pick it up, its not a massive commitment.

Also, its worth just listening to the whole Dark Horse album (which is my personal favourite solo George record!), specifically the tracks Simply Shady, So Sad and Dark Horse.

artificer. primarily bc as much as i love him, matt’s pcs tend not to be my kind of character. at least in cr oneshots he’s got a thing for the Generic Edgy Protagonist Boy type which i’m sorry buddy but like. no thanks. and based on artificer/engineer type npcs he’s played i doubt he will go for that archetype as a pc. matt loves some Insane Scientists and so do i, easy S tier character trope, so whether he plays it straight or goes for the more unhinged type like most of his npcs im down 100%. also i had a whole rant here abt how much i love dariax and i hope that matt continues to step out of his comfort zone for pcs because for me personally i think it works really well!!

YESYEDY!!!! okay idk if im gonna add most of the specifics that lead to ajay having to deal with the work process but basically after serving his tour of duty he was on reserve for a Good While before decidedly applying to go to the CIA. he wasn’t really expecting it, it was just a means of running away from what his homelife used to be like now that ishwari was gone, in fact the process of how he got there was pretty boring. the usual “i’d like to apply for the job” settlements but that was UNTIL the CIA looked up his background and realized he might be useful as an asset to them. when they informed him about it and asked if he would like to be an informant/asset in KYRAT ITSELF immediately he was like ??? thats not what i signed up for but okay whatever. it’s my duty and gonna be above my paygrade so i might as well and the ThING IS. even after fucking hearing about what happened he just. didn’t seem to care about it like at all. especially with all the parts missing from pagan’s side, it just seemed to ajay that ishwari wasn’t mentioning any of it because she wanted to be american so badly. (his viewpoint not mine LMAOAHEHSUDH lord forgive his terrible inability to read people or put himself in other people’s shoes it’s the autism aksjenehs) (dw it also gets called out eventually) disclaimer: he does care, to a degree, but as much as every detail remains vivid to him he just took things on the surface level and didn’t think much of it up until the real story batted him in the head.

one of my throwaway characters from forgotten idols is actually mentioned here!!! his name is divin and he’s a sniper in the original fic, but since Bhadra is 17 here and 15 in the flashbacks he’s either in Banhi’s womb or like a toddler LOL. and yeah, Banhi and Achal have a kid despite being in a war.

I think at one point Pagan had to visit Paul’s family to deliver the news about him getting stabbed to death passing away which is the ONLY time Paul’s wife and daughter got to meet him. Paul’s wife just assumed he was a flamboyant brother-in-arms (if we can assume that Paul had military history this could apply very well) but she always found it rather odd that she never got to contact him again especially after learning that they “couldn’t recover the body”.

Chotu is a ferret. I’m trying my best to add him into the story even as just a comfort pet for both Bhadra and Noore but that would take awhile LOL.

One of the conditions Noore was supposed to have was rheumatoid arthritis and chronic traumatic encephalopathy. But then like, after awhile I realized how much of a bad idea that was (and how her having CTE would probably have killed her since she was stuck in Durgesh for 10 goddamn years man) and how hard that would be for literally everyone cause Noore needs to Move.

Noore and Ajay weren’t to be together by the end and instead were gonna separate after Ajay does some reflecting in America but I realized how pointless that would be + how I already did this fucking ending already so I had to go back to my pros and cons maps for the fucking ending and went with the one I’m going for right now. All is happy. I promise.

Just to adjust everything because I fucked up, Ajay is now 30.

Longinus and Bhadra have an interaction here!! He becomes a catalyst for something important that Bhadra does later on, but I headcanon that Longinus loves children and leaves wanting her to make her own decisions akhdksjs ITS CUTEEEE

Ajay is 6’2. Why? Well I mostly just wanted to, but men don’t stop growing until they hit 24(?) and considering the kind of workout you get in the military the amount of testosterone that gets pumped out is what made him fucking BIG. He’s already taller in canon than most of his Kyrati peers so I thought it would be fun to make his intimidation factor come with the added height lol.

Ajay never went to college.

Bhadra’s a very smart assed and hyper girl, all that pent up rage from being 14-15 with the Golden Path did a lot of shit to her so she’s in a lot more stable hands living with Rabi. Unlike COT!Bhadra she doesn’t have mental breakdowns or screaming fits, she actually learns how to communicate her feelings to Rabi because that’s a thing that he taught her to do. She’s a lot more stable than everyone in this fic lmao

Basics: I’m a bisexual INFP cancer girl

Personality: When I’m with people I’m close to, I’m bubbly and funny and silly and loud as shit. I’m either ranting about whatever stupid & random thing I can think of, or scream laughing at the dumbest of things. It’s hard to get me to shut up. When we’re hanging out, chances are we’re both rolling on the floor cackling at whatever nonsensical joke you or I made and can’t stop, no matter what. I strive hard to be the funny friend, or at least a funny friend. Though if I’m with someone who likes to talk more than me or has more to say, I’m always happy to listen for hours and hours on end! I basically try to match the mood of the people I’m with.

I’m not the sharpest bulb in the toolbox- I sometimes don’t realize obvious things or forget stuff a lot. I spend more time inside of my own head than outside of it, so much so that I sometimes neglect work and other things. I also have a tendency to overthink or stress myself out or close myself off when I’m anxious- which makes me seem a bit overdramatic. I’ve got a few confidence issues, insecurities and all that jazz, but I’m trying to work on getting better.

Likes:

Writing (the love of my life!! I’d like to say I’m good at it, or at least creative enough to be good at it. If I’m lucky, it’ll be a part of my future career.)

Meeting new people (I’ve got a bit of social anxiety, so it’s pretty hard for me to be comfortable around them and act normal-- I usually come off as awkward and timid). You have to make the first move because I probably will never make it.

I love shopping but malls and stores make me so on edge lol

Having my feelings invalidated

Similarly, I don’t like being treated like a child. Because of my short height and my naietivity, I feel like people kinda baby me. It makes me feel like I’m not worthy of respect.

Excessive PDA, I’m kind of a private person, especially with more deeper and vulnerable emotions like love

Those were good times,probably one of the best memories. Those moments spend with you,holding hands,going on dates...Days filled with affection and laughter.

But those days didn't last long as you went to study abroad. In your third year of high school,you broke up with him because you didn't like the idea of a long distance relationship. Shinichiro reluctantly agreed to your decision but that didn't mean he could cut down his feelings.

Even years later, his mind would sometimes wander to his high school days spent with you which reminded him of his lingering love for you.

Here he thought he moved on yet once you appeared in-front of him years later, his heart heated faster, his hands formed sweat as he could feel his face heat up. Fuck. He was never able to move on...

"Shinichiro?" You waved your hand in front of his face,snapping him back to reality.

"Whoa- Oh- Uhm..." You giggled when Shinichiro snapped out of his daze. He cleared his throat before smiling. "How could I ever forget you..."

Your heart raced as his words. You opened your mouth to reply when you left someone lean on you,their arms around your shoulder. "Hey, the stuff you were looking for is in the shop across the road."

Shinichiro's gaze hardened as he looked at man who had his arms slinging around your shoulder. Of course...It's been years so you must have found someone new. And the person in front of him was clearly trying to say 'This is my girl back off.' With his arms around you.

The person smiled at you. "I'm going to look around this store a little more. You go ahead."

You nodded as you turned to Shinichiro. "Guess I'll see you next time." You waved as you walked away. "Bye bye."

Shinichiro smiled as he waved back at you before a sigh broke his attention. Oh right...Your boyfriend was still here. He thought in distaste.

“Long time no see I guess…” The man said in a awkward tone,only to laugh at Shinichiro’s confused face. “I guess you don’t remember me…”

“It’s me. Y/N’s little brother…You would bring me ice cream whenever you came to pick up my sister on dates…” The boy explained.

Shinichiro’s jaws dropped. He was so tiny the last time he saw him so there is no way he’d recognize him. “Woah! You’re almost tall as me now.” On a closer look,he could see the resemblance between your brother and you.

“You know…” Your brother started as he fiddled with his hands. “My sister always wanted to visit this place ever since she heard you owned it.”

Shinichiro’s heart raced. He always thought only he was stuck in fast so reluctant to move on but the words he were hearing right now made him so happy.

Your brother smiled at the relieved expression Shinichiro put on. These two idiots were still so hopelessly in love with each other. “Every time we passed by she would always stare at your shop so today I thought I’d make an excuse to bring her here today.”

“That’s all I wanted to say-“ Right on time, you entered the shop with a bag in your hand. Shinichiro smiled when your eyes searched for his as soon as you entered. Your brother smiled at Shinichiro one last time as he walked away. “Im rooting for you two…”

Shinichiro watched the both of you walk away. His mind was still a mess. So many new information were poured on him and before he knew it he was on his two feet running after you.

“Y/N!!” Shinichiro shouted making everyone turn to look at him as if he had gone crazy . “Do you want to go and hang out this weekend!”

He was not thinking about anything. He didn’t think about the fact that he was in the middle of a crowd. He didn’t think that he was making a public confession. All he could think was the fact he wanted to be with you even years later, he couldn’t imagine himself in a future without you or you with someone else.

Your brother sighed as he face palmed himself at the second hand embarrassment. He turned to look at you,to check your reaction.

You were also s covering your face but from this angle he could see you smile,as you giggled clearly happy with Shinichiro’s offer.

Your brother’s lips curled. Guess acting as a wing man was worth it after all.

Cinematic language to help you understand why Levihan is more canon than you think

First thing first, of course the plane was Hange. And the wood parallel is deeper than just hints of canon ship

If the birb is Eren then the plane is Hange. It’s called a ✨symbol✨ and a ✨parallel✨ , a narrative device and a visual cue means for readers to reflect on

a) things that happened related to the actual object (when have we seen this before and last time we see it what happened)

b) what it could represent in terms of symbolic meaning (travel, migration, meaning mobility and freedom and civilization and means and that Levi has a good life for example)

c) how it is positioned in relationships with other object/symbol that are similar to it visually, to draw some similarities and differences in terms of narrative (plane is a machine birb, scientific birb, Levi sees plane while Mikasa hanging out w birb, what do this mean???? Thinkkkkkk)

Some folks will find value in learning comp lit, to know how to read narrative work, including cinema. AOT is visual but it is also deeply cinematic in the way Hajime Isayama draws the panel and the variety of shots he uses to depict the passive narration such as voice-over, time-lapse, flashbacks, time jump, etc.

Here’s an example of how AOT is structured by paralllels, symbols, and narrative devices through editing/cinematic techniques to tell the story. This is my favorite scene when Isayama uses a combination of cutaway and montage to use a character’s dialogue beyond the immediate moment (real time) to depict a larger theme of the story:

This scene is Levi and Kenny talking to each other in real time. There are many ways to depict a dialogue. If it is about each other, then characters are usually depict in “continuity editing” where the whole scene is about them talking to each other, shots will be opposite shots of their face, over-the-shoulder, giving audiences a feel that you are there with them in the convo, listening to them talk. But this scene “cutaway” in that it breaks up the “linear time” by showing audiences other images not realistically been seen by any character, to broaden the scope of the scene. Now you know it’s not just about the dialogue. However, cutaway usually is a thing that realistically in that scene, like cut to the tree while Kenny is still speaking, then go back to them.

In this “sequence,” what is shown is a montage of images that are not only “flashbacks” (memory of things the characters have seen/witnessed, since he couldn't have seen Kuchel) but compilation of new images that are “symbolic” to the lines Kenny is speaking. In other words, the author is drawing “parallels” from one instances to others, connecting separated people, scenes, stories, actions, decisions into one larger thing we call “theme”––Isayama’s making sure that audiences know exactly what to think by forcing separated images into one montage, and make sure you understand that this message needs to be understood beyond Kenny. So that’s the cinematic language readers should be aware that Isayama is using.

That’s why arguing events based on literal evidence is limited, because it is cannon itself that events, stories, people’s decisions and investments are meant to be interpreted and understood in juxtaposition.

Now let’s move on to juxtapositions and parallel in Levihan and Eremika:

I know people have use the wood parallel to talk about how Levihan is canon, but I think the wood is meant to show that Levihan are the adult version of Eremika, who also understand and rely on each other, but a lot more secured in their relationship and trust.

So, get this: for Eremika, Eren had to ask who he is to Mikasa (I know, dumbo) before they get the alternative living in the wood. That’s cuz their young love is shy and also full of insecurities and they are unsure of how to understand their affection for one another. The insecurity is especially pronounced when Mikasa, after having been asked that (”who am I to you”), still get so hurt when Eren said he had been hating her since they were kids. That means we can read that she took the question as “what do you want from me why are you clingy” instead of “pls tell me you like me.”

In another world, she is her fierce self who lives only for her and Eren (like she used to back then, ready to fight the whole army to keep Eren alive but now she’s a soldier for humanity) and suggested that they runaway to live in the wood. In this scenario, Mikasa’s suggestion was implied, we never saw her do it, only told in Eren’s retelling, and even so, in his words (“thats what you said, Mikasa”).

This whole scene is continuity editing with flashbacks, purely from the perspective of Mikasa. You as the reader assumes her point of view, because the images depict Eren speaking, and Eren’s words dictate most of the information. So you, as a reader, is being told to, passively that this is what happened, and that whatever decision of how they get here, has been made prior to you. In other words, while the dialogue happening about them being together is real time, the dialogue of how they decided to do so, is not. That is meant for interpretation. The author does not let you know how it happened in real time. This intended foreclosing is meant to evoke a sense of confusion, unsatisfaction (because you do not get to know how decisions are made and why), so it is safe to assume that the intended feeling is also just that--bittersweet. You know the couple get to be together, but they were not entirely at peace. This life will weight heavily on them until the day Eren dies. This scene is in chapter 138, but in story’s time, it’s meant to be continue before the timeskip.

For Levihan, in chapter 126, the conversation between Levihan was playing out in real time itself, but the whole scene is an independent moment that preceded the real event (which was continued on from chapter 125, where Hange and Levi met with Pieck and Theo).

In this scene, readers can see that the suggestion was direct, and we were in on the act as it happens. Hange thought Levi was unconscious, so they were thinking out loud. “Maybe we should just live here together, right, Levi?” We see Hange contemplating about it, said it out loud, and sad that it might just be a wild thought.

Time cut. Now they’re doing something else, before the path appears, and they turned around to wake Levi up. Levi woke up at that same moment, immediately asking about what happened before he was unconscious, not letting Hange know that he heard the whole thing. He took time to catch up with what happened, gathering information and providing information. This means he is contemplating about Hange’s proposal.

“I let him get away again.” Hange responded to this sentence with “I’m sure you want revenge, but for now...” Levi moved on, seamlessly, without a beat, “If we keep running and hiding, what will that get us?” At first it seems like a continuation of the convo--as in Levi doesn’t want to keep hiding and want to go back to battle, but Hange understood immediately that he was referring to their talk: “So you heard me talking to myself.”

Here, Hange weren’t like “omg im sorry I didn’t know u were up i would have never,” because that would suggest that the relationship between them is unconfirmed and that Hange has yet to know what Levi thinks of them (as seen in Eremika’s nature of their relationship). But they were just like, ok, so you heard. Then Levi saw that Hange was making a thing to carry him, and concluded, “I know you. You’re not able to stay out of the action.” Hange admitted, “Yeah, that’s right, I can’t.”

If you look at the scene itself, you will see a lot of opposite shots (POV of the two characters who are talking to each other), many of them are close-up (right in their face). It is a short, but continuous, linear conversation where Hange and Levi got to talk about the possibility, discussed it together, before Levi pointed out that Hange could never just sit this one out, and Hange agreed. This scene is also meant for interpretation, because even though they talked about the possibility, they didn’t go “so what do you think, I think we should” but it was Hange’s wild thought that they fully intended not to go through, and Levi’s understanding that he was not meant to truly respond, because he saw that Hange already had a plan to keep it moving. (The next scene is Levi negotiating with Theo and Pieck, so it’s safe to assume that they spent the rest of their conversation discussing strategies.)

Levihan’s scene is short, but it was meant to read in juxtaposition with Eremika’s more elaborate life in the wood in 138 -- communicating the idea that if they had run away together, they would also suffer intensely survivor’s guilt. Which, as soldiers and commanders, they simply cannot choose. So, in a way, this is to depict Levi’s theme, “no regret,” even as they never had a future to be together at peace. The fact that they can have this extremely heavy conversation means that there were peaceful moments between them that they experienced, that would allow this scene to read like a final good bye.

So, as I have rambled more than I needed to, I’mma stop here. My point was pretty simple and meant to invite folks to read AOT very generously in terms of its couple/romantic/partnership, in that just because things are not fleshed out doesn’t mean it’s not real and that readers are supposed to read between the line, thematically, across storylines to get the full picture, but sternly in the way that you need to understand narrative devices and visual cues the ways they’re meant to be read. To go back to the plane controversy (apparently some people insist that planes are planes), of course planes are planes, that’s what they first and foremost need to be. No object would be included for the symbolic meaning only - it always need to be itself first and foremost, to create a normative sense of reality before it could go imaginative and interpretive.
