I finally "finished" Ilo's ref :) he's Null's bff and kind of a trickster figure in Faeng folklore.

Artificially formed in to a rich naval Aurai family, Ilo was heir to the Throne's seas and his fleet remained undefeated for aeons. During the liberation of the Frontier Ilo and his fleet were sent to the Frontier so he could claim it's seas for the Aurai, instead he turned against them and aided the Faeng against his own kind.

Some misc. notes under the cut:

He's very laid back and has a keen sense of humor which clashes with how he looks; he was trained as a upper caste warrior so he holds himself like one and looks pretty emotionless until he starts talking and then you can tell he's actually a big goof ball.

Ilo allowed Null to use his physical form after shedding it in order to "reach enlightenment" so they could use his power to protect the Northern Strata, which is why Null's old form resembles him.

Ilo has a "genetic" trait that manifests as asymmetrical markings and physical features. This trait is common in naturally formed Shimmera and the first generation of artificially formed Shimmera, which Ilo happens to be the latter.

Typically Shimmerain names describe the location and circumstances where/when the individual formed at but since Ilo was artificially formed he simply was known as "Ilo" or "The Typhoon". Ilo eventually found a name that he liked, one that describes the ocean during the summer, just as the warm breeze pushes the sun beneath the waves and before the moon rises from the depths to take it's place. It's a moment in time he cherishes dearly.
