being a hater in this fandom used to be fun i swear !! like, i was never a massive ron fan. when i read the books as a kid he reminded me too much of a boy i knew who i didn’t like. he just annoyed me, which is how it goes with books sometimes. that said, any analysis of hp as a narrative clearly shows that ron was the PERFECT friend for harry, an extremely realistic kid, a great demonstration of choosing loyalty even when we have doubts and insecurities, as well offering the average and well-meaning magical perspective, biases intact. you used to be able to be a hater while fully acknowledging this. now it’s like “um actually ron befriended harry for the money and ron and hermione’s relationship is abusive (she should have been with draco)” and it’s so annoying. remus and tonks were very well written, and through their relationship we get to see a lot of their strongest traits (remus’ cowardice and self-hatred for his condition, tonks’ spunk and resolve), as well as drawing a parallel of an orphan who grows up so loved. all of this understood, i didn’t love it. but not because fucking.. tonks morphs into sirius in bed (?????) and remus is a repressed tragic homosexual who would never touch a gross dirty w*man. like what on earth. where do y’all get this shit. it takes all of the fun out of being a bit of a hater because these people truly believe this stuff and cannot appreciate narrative value or cohesion when it gets in the way of their made up story. like girl no. stop. i thought we were just playing but you were fr..
Long ago you could tease characters, ships, tropes with nuance. Today it is black and white. Either it is evil or it is good. No middle ground. Your opinions = your morality.
I blame falling reading comprehension skills and illiteracy.

Media literacy is absolutely dying, and in the same vein, i was having a conversation with a psych mate the other day about something that has always existed but seems to be growing in prevalence, which is people within communities/fandoms who constantly try to start discourse over works of fiction, characters, the story, etc. it really is clear that people are becoming so emotionally dysregulated to a degree where they let fictional works and online discourse affect their mental health, and to a point where it's observably ruining their lives.
You have to understand that I'm not coming from a place of harsh judgment w this but one of genuine concern. This isn't even about people (myself included) who may disagree with something or dislike something or even think that something is problematic. these are all important and inevitable things that will happen when we engage in media. there ARE certainly problematic creators, authors, artists and others out there and it is healthy to have a moral code when navigating entertainment, as much as it is important to speak up against the people behind media who turn out to be abusers, racists, fascists, etc. i am specifically talking about people who i will see in constant misery, endlessly complaining and attacking everyone they disagree with, and it really does tell me that people nowadays have lost the very important wisdom that is going offline.
I don't mean that someone is superior for having a lower screen time than someone else, i simply mean IT. IS. A. MUST. that people learn to be able to disengage from the internet instead of participating in discourse. it is not only bad for your mental health, but simply put, when someone visits your profile and can see, as clear as day, that you are online 24/7 and always in a bad mood, it becomes hard to take you seriously. if you feel in your soul that something is worth speaking out against, there are more effective ways to do so than bickering with a troll who is just as unwavering in their opinion as you are. I know it's something of a joke to say "go outside and touch grass" but I am so serious you all to develop healthy boundaries when it comes to the fiction you consume and the people you interact with online.

"Censor-shipping"
Tumblr media
Thing that pro-censorship people have told me I'm not "allowed" to write, because reasons:
Tumblr media
m/m
a/b/o
rape
dub/con
infidelity
drug use
religions
self harm
violent crime
polyamory
abortion
underage
polygamy
slavery
incest
crossovers
cannibalism
Tumblr media
Guess how many I decided to not write about?
(Hey, you guys! I invented a new term: it's "censorshipping" 😂)
OOH, one of the trolls came out from her bridge as soon as the above post came off my queue:
Tumblr media
I HAVE to imagine it is either a relatively unintelligent teenager, or else god help us if it calls itself an adult 😳
I don't think it understands that books are constantly being written with horrible things that happen in the plots. Including each and every one of its personal squicks.
Does it ever go to the library??
Does it belong to Moms for Liberty? I bet it's a card carrying member of Moms for Liberty 😂
Ignorant cowards hide their hate behind anons 🥱

The increase in illiteracy among the urban poor in the United States is consonant with a new rise in overt racism and contempt for the poor. The illiteracy is programmed into the system: an intelligent child can go to school and not be taught how to read or write. When the educational system abandons reading and writing for particular subgroups, it abandons human dignity for those groups: it becomes strictly custodial, keeping the animals penned in; it does not bring human life to human beings.
Cross-culturally, girls and women are the illiterates, with two thirds of the world's illiterates women and the rate rising steadily. Girls need husbands, not books. Girls need houses or shacks to keep clean, or street corners to stand on, not the wide world in which to roam. Refusal to give the tool of literacy is refusal to give access to the world. If she can make her own fire, read a book herself, write a letter or a record of her thoughts or an essay or a story, it will be harder to get her to tolerate the unwanted fuck, to bear the unwanted children, to see him as life and life through him. She might get ideas. But even worse, she might know the value of the ideas she gets. She must not know that ideas have value, only that being fucked and reproducing are her value.

Spry Community Links High School, in the Heart of Little Village in Chicago, says its vision is to “provide a challenging and supportive environment…to enable our students to succeed in the 21st century.” Number one on the school’s focus list? “Increasing reading and math scores to or above grade level.”
But a look at state data that tracks reading and math scores for each Illinois school reveals two frightening facts about Spry. Not a single one of its 88 kids at the school can read at grade level. It’s the same for math. Zero kids are proficient.
Spry is one of 30 schools in Illinois where not a single student can read at grade level. Twenty-two of those schools are part of the Chicago Public Schools and the other eight are outside Chicago.
Tumblr media
The failure list in math is even longer. There are 53 schools statewide where not one kid is proficient in math.
Tumblr media
The absolute failure to teach even a single child to read and do math in so many schools is yet another indictment of the state’s educational system. At Wirepoints, we covered in detail the failures of Illinois education across the state in Poor student achievement and near-zero accountability: An indictment of Illinois’ public education system.
The data comes straight from the Illinois State Board of Education.
This column focuses on schools where zero percent of kids are able to read or do math. But we could have just as easily looked at the 622 schools where only 1 out of 10 kids or less can read at grade level. That’s a whopping 18 percent of the state’s 3,547 schools that tested students in 2022.
And only 1 out of 10 kids or less can do math at grade level in 930 schools…that’s more than a quarter of all schools in the state.
Defenders of the current system are sure to invoke covid as the big reason for the low scores. But a look at the 2019 numbers show that the reading and math numbers were only slightly better than they are now.
Take Spry, for example. Just 2 of the school’s 127 students in 2019 could read at grade level before the pandemic. In math, zero students were proficient.
The failure isn’t about money, either. Data from the Illinois State Board of Education shows spending at Spry was already at $20,000 per student before the pandemic. Today it spends $35,600.
Tumblr media
What’s really incredible is that many of these schools are rated “commendable” by the Illinois State Board of Education. That’s the 2nd-highest of four “accountability” ratings a school can receive.
Not a single one of the 113 students at Sandoval Sr High School can read or do math at grade level. And yet the school is “commendable.”
Same with Ralph Ellison Chicago International Charter School. Over $24,000 spent on each of its 172 students. Labeled “commendable.” And none of the students are proficient in either reading or math.
In a sane world, schools that don’t and can’t teach a single student the most basic of skills would be shut down. But here, they carry on…the system thrives while students wither.

LITERACY QUOTE OF THE DAY
Tumblr media
Tuesday, April 23, 2024
“…in Afghanistan, the women refer to their illiteracy as blindness. When I asked them what they meant by that, one woman explained: ‘I couldn’t read, so I couldn’t see what was going on.’ In fewer than a dozen words, she described a system that men in power have relied on for centuries-keep women uneducated so they won’t know what’s going on.” – Sally Armstrong, Uprising: A New Age is Dawning for Every Mother’s Daughter

Allah found humans lost, so He guided them.
How can I put their words into the glorious Quran? Only to please them, only to fulfil their selfish desires, only to get a name and fame quickly. How can I put their words into the glorious Quran?
Allah found humans lost, Allah found humans miser, Allah found humans brutal, Allah found humans ignorant. So He guided us and showed us the right path. How can I put their words into the glorious Quran?
Nay, the world is lost in the wilderness again, no peace anywhere, bloodshed everywhere, and humanity is lost in ignorance like before. It's time to put the words of 'The Guidance' and 'The Furqan' to them with a 'Dhikr' of righteousness once again. How can I put their words into the glorious Quran, then? 🤔
