Is it just me or did the latest ep of New Amsterdam feel like a classic Grey’s Anatomy finale? I’m not saying it was bad (au contraire - the first 12 or so seasons of Grey’s were excellent, with many great finales!), but it sure was... a lot.
The storm, and most of all: the way it hit the hospital, seemed like a bit much. I know this isn’t a wealthy, private clinic, but I’d think some maintenance might be expected! Iggy was a mess, a shadow of the man from the earlier seasons. Makes me feel like it’s plot first, character second (maybe they borrowed some S19 writers too?). I get the point they try to make, I don’t even think it’s that uncommon, but by making it seem like Martin has been acting this way (for all this time) on purpose doesn’t feel right. He’s no villain, just like Iggy is no victim. So yeah, character murder.
Lauren and Leyla broke my heart, maybe even more because I actually believe Lauren’s right. This whole thing has to be out of their way before they can (hopefully!) move on as equals. I for one am not giving up on them, though I also don’t want them to drag it out all over the final season. Can’t have them sad for all those eps, just for a quick reconciliation in the finale. I need some happy moments. Which would leave us with all or nothing, I guess.
I wonder what happened to Helen on that plane to get her this upset. It’s hard to believe it’s (just) her doubt we saw before, as she really did seem happy to board that plane and get married. When it comes to next season though I mostly just want her back, with or without Max. She’s a big part of NA and not having her around in ‘our’ hospital feels like a missing limb.
To wrap it up: just like last year, this season wasn’t as great as the first two, despite some decent moments here and there. The London part, the Fuentes issues, it just didn’t work. Plus with a small cast like this everyone has already gone through hell and back at least three times, which makes whatever they’re facing next not believable anymore. As a result they seem to gradually (?) change them into new characters which - of course - doesn’t work. We don’t buy it, we don’t want it, as we simply love them the way we got to know them. So yes, I think they made the right call by ending this show. But it’s not over till it’s over. They might just surprise us with some great stuff in their finale season. I’d say fingers crossed and till then...

NEW AMSTERDAM REACTION
This reaction is for the season 5, second episode titled "Hook, Line, and Sinker" which originally aired on September 27, 2022. The episode was written by Aaron Ginsburg and directed by Olenka Denysenko. Spoilers ahead!
Tumblr media
I skipped reacting to the premiere episode of season 5 because I knew it would be all about addressing the fallout surrounding Helen leaving Max at the altar and Freema Agyeman's leaving the show. Now I'll admit that why I'm a huge fan of Max and Helen, I was never fully sold on them being a couple. I saw the writing on the wall the moment they moved to London. New Amsterdam, first and foremost, is about Max Goodwin and his crusade to help those who fall victim to the healthcare system. When Max left the hospital last season, I became resentful of Helen. The whole back and forth of them leaving London and coming back to New York City became exhausting and the entire time I kept thinking, Max would never leave his friends behind to fend for themselves while Veronica Fuentes wreaked havoc all over New Amsterdam.
When Helen called Max at the end of last season's finale episode to tell him she could not marry him, I was ecstatic. While I hate to see Dr. Sharpe leave New Amsterdam, a part of me is relieved we have Max back doing what he does best - saving the world, one patient at a time.
Tumblr media
Well, enough talk about the past! Let's chat about the present and what couple possibly transpire in the future. Our latest episode finds out main characters each dealing with professional, family, and personal issues. I want to start with Dr. Iggy Frome because he's my absolute favorite character on the show and I'm very interested in his storyline this episode. While I'm still trying to process that my favorite primetime pairing is getting a divorce, Iggy is embracing his new life of being a single man and he is ready to mingle. Watching him go through the process of creating a dating profile reminded me that this is a man who doesn't have a lot of dating experience, mostly because he's spent most of his adult life with Martin. Here's the thing. I applaud Iggy moving on now that he and Martin have decided to go the divorce route and I also appreciate that both he and Martin seem to be doing a pretty decent job co-parenting their four kids.
The thing I find most frustrating about all of this is that I feel like Iggy needs therapy. Yes, folks - the therapist needs therapy. When we found out at the end of last season that Martin may prefer Iggy's brokenness because it affords him the opportunity to step in and save the day as his partner, the fact that we never get to see them attempt to work through this makes me want to pull my hair out. Also, now that I've had time to process their breakup, I don't like the implication that the revelation about Martin is what ended them. Are we seriously going to overlook the fact that Iggy was having an emotional affair with one of his subordinates or that Iggy's narcissism plays a HUGE role in most of he and Martin's issues? I feel like the show wants us to gloss over all of that for the sake of us getting to see Iggy be this single, hot zaddy getting his groove back. Look, I still have some hope that maybe he and Martin will come back together. However, for that to happen, Iggy is going to need to be very forthcoming about his behavior and how it's affected their relationship and their family.
Tumblr media
One last thing about Iggy. I do find it funny when someone is so intelligent, so booksmart, but the obvious things in life seem to elude them. When Martin was able to easily diagnose the real reason Iggy wasn't getting any views on his dating profile, it was a reminder of why these two make sense. Yeah maybe Martin should want Iggy to have his shit together a bit more but honestly, if it weren't for Martin, Iggy would be a man in shambles.
We move on next to Dr. Lauren Bloom and her frankly bizarre living situation. Now here's what I don't get. Why is an emergency doctor who also comes from money couch surfing when she could just go and rent another apartment or maybe get a hotel? Why doesn't she go back to her old apartment and tell Leyla that she and her new girlfriend need to move out? I find it so interesting how Bloom can be so assertive when it comes to running her emergency room but when it comes to navigating her personal life, it's like she shrinks into herself. There's no reason why someone in her position should be homeless right now especially when we all know she has the money to remedy her situation.
To make matters worse, at the end of the episode we see her move in with her sister who doesn't look too stable. Her sister clearly looks like she's strung out on something and are we just gonna gloss over the two random, passed out people on the sofa? Knowing Bloom's history with drug addiction, I'm honestly worried she will have some sort of relapse this season.
Tumblr media
My heart did break for the paramedic who died in the ER. Him dying while trying to save a man trying to take his life is something straight out of an Alanis Morrissette song. At first I couldn't decide how that medical emergency applied to Bloom's life. Perhaps it was a reminder that life is too short and that maybe she needs to make amends with her sister? Personally, I don't think it's wise for her to be moving in with her sister but hey, only time will tell.
We now head over to Dr. Floyd Reynolds. It's so good to see him free of that weird-ass mé·nage à trois relationship he had with Dr. Malvo and Dr. Baptiste last year that resulted in a baby. Seriously what were the writers even thinking? Anywho, Floyd is trying to establish a relationship with his dead-beat, absentee father and it ain't going so hot. For starters, I didn't like how his dad just showed up at the hospital demanding he go fishing with him and Iggy, I love you, but you gave Floyd some shitty advice  when you should've picked up on the manipulation tactics his dad was using to guilt him into going fishing with him. One could argue that since Iggy has daddy issues of his own, perhaps he wasn't able to recognize that his friend was being gaslit.
Tumblr media
Reynolds shirks a day of work - and apparently a really important surgery - to fish with his dad at a restricted location. The whole fishing trip pissed me off. Every time Floyd tried to set reasonable boundaries, his dad would make him feel like shit. Ultimately this leads to the two of them almost getting caught by Homeland Security. When they get back to the car, Floyd's dad tries to guilt him again into going back to their fishing spot and thankfully Floyd puts his foot down. Floyd makes it back to New Amsterdam and has a chat with Iggy. Through their conversation, Iggy surmises that Floyd's father may be bipolar. Look, that's great and all Iggy, but I do think that Floyd needs to rethink his relationship with his dad. I'm still somewhat confused as to why it's so important for him to have a relationship with his dad. Can we please get a storyline where Floyd isn't being mistreated by the people who so-call love him? Thanks.
Let's discuss Dr. Elizabeth Wilder and her situation in this episode. There weren't a whole lot of emergencies this episode but Dr. Wilder is dealing with the biggest one. When a man ends up in the ER due to a car accident, Wilder determines that for him to survive, he will need to have his right arm amputated. When she communicates this news to him, the man is adamant that he does not want to have his arm cut off and tells her he would rather die. In order to perform the life-saving surgery, she enlists the aid of Iggy in hopes that he will be able to declare the patient incompent and therefore unable to make sound and reasonable decisions regarding his healthcare. After Iggy's assessment, it is clear that the man is fully capable of making his own decisions and therefore his wishes should be respected. On top of that, the patient is a baseball player and not having an arm affects his livelihood and his self-worth.
Tumblr media
Now I was on Iggy's side at this moment. The topic of bodily autonomy is first and foremost on the minds of many Americas, especially as we move towards the midterm elections in November. If we care about bodily autonomy in circumstances where a mother is wanting to terminate a pregnancy, we have to care about bodily autonomy across the board. And I totally get that this might come into conflict with a doctor's oath to do no harm. With that said, while I get where Dr. Wilder is coming from, I didn't like her approach to the surgery. Like Floyd's father, Dr. Wilder employs some manipulation techniques of her own to convince/intimidate the patient into having the surgery. I didn't particularly care for her using her deafness to guilt him into agreeing to the surgery but the show wants me to believe that her actions are for the greater good. I do think Iggy was right in this scenario and that Dr. Wilder should've respected his wishes. It was fun to see these two very likeable characters in opposition.
Tumblr media
Last on the list is Mr. New Amsterdam himself - Dr. Max Goodwin. Max appears to be at peace with all the Helen drama and is back in save the world mode. His latest endeavor involves finding a means to help those who can't afford their medication. His solution? Max convinces the Board of Directors to let him install an ATM where patients can withdraw money to pay for things like insulin and prescription drugs. As Max monitors this process he quickly learns that the definition of medicine varies from person to person. Naturally, the Board of Directors aren't too thrilled about this seemingly waste of money and Max is told to shut the operation down. However, when he witnesses the old lady needing a bus pass due to her chronic, debilitating asthma being given a bus pass by a good Samaritan, he gets the idea to create a GoFundMe-esque website where total strangers can donate money directly to the patients who need it. What I love most about this story is that Max has always fallen into the habit of treating the issue and not the patient. By humanizing the patients, he was able to get what he wanted in the end. Now, realistically-speaking, I don't know how successful something like this would be if implemented in the real world but I do think that it made for a happy ending to this particular storyline.
Tumblr media
To end things with Max, one of the plot points I found most interesting and not exactly in a good way is Max all of a sudden realizing the importance of being able to communicate effectively with his staff. At this point, Dr. Wilder has been on-staff at New Amsterdam for the better part of a year and she has gone to bat for the hospital in ways that some of our other characters, ahem Dr. Reynolds, have not. Max attempting to learn sign language this late in the game is honestly baffling. To make matters even stranger, it appears he only got interested in learning because he was jealous, maybe, of Dr. Wilder talking to another guy who knew sign language in the elevator. Perhaps this is in line with Max's character. His inability to see the complete picture when it comes to most of the things in his life has always been one of his short-comings. With that said, I'm totally onboard for him and Dr Wilder becoming love interests. I love that they both have goals that wouldn't necessarily require the other to forego their responsibilities. I wonder how the fandom feels about Wildwin?
Overall, this was a great episode. Like most, I'm sad this is the final season of New Amsterdam, but I am hopeful things will end well for all of our characters. Like 9-1-1 and The Rookie and 9-1-1: Lone Star, New Amsterdam is one of those shows I came to during the height of the pandemic and after watching a few episodes, I fell in love with the characters. Now characters have come and gone throughout the season but Max has always been the heart of this show and I'm so glad he's back where he belongs. Until next time ...

New Amsterdam really disappointed me too. Started in s3 but this season has been trash. I know there’s still the finale left but it’s not like they can fix an entire season in 1 episode. And there really is so much to fix. Helen and Max have had too much drama(why give Helen a stroke and make it disappear an episode later like what was the point)thrown at them and Helen seems, understandably, a bit hesitant to go all the way in, Max has just annoyed me so much this season with his rivalry with Fuentes and his inability to go all in and leave NYC behind(I know they had to write it that way so they’d come back but the London/NYC split was unnecessary)and now, their romance falls really flat for me. Also Floyd and Iggy make terrible choices and Lauren and Leyla have so much important issues to address that keeps getting swept under the rug because of love? I don’t even know nothing make sense.
Right!! They ruined the love I had for Max and Helen being together. The moving to London bit was random and annoying. They are rushing the romance and kind of making him out to be a horrible father.
Max and Fuentes’ war got a bit cartoonish at some point. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to be that hated. And Max trying to frame her for fraud to get her out of the hospital made him seem just as bad as her. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
Floyd went from being soo self-righteous to getting into a situation that season 1 him would have never even dreamed of doing. And I may never forgive him for selling out all his friends the way he did.
And Iggy. He’s unprofessional and a horrible husband. I swear it started the moment Kapoor left.

@relaxvideobar www.relaxvideobar.com (at RELAX VIDEO BAR) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChyQ8e8Mt3c/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

OC-Tober Day 5 - Throne
(from @oc-growth-and-development’s OC-tober list)
I got. Very behind LMAO. Which I sort of expected but I’m still a little upset about it. In any case, I’m going to keep on trucking on these because it’s worth it just to be able to call them done. That’s very much the energy of today’s piece too, I’m afraid. It’s not exactly what I wanted, but hey, we’re finished with it, right? That’s something.
Featuring @urdnotgrunt’s Iggy, who is the love of my life.
~1200 words
-----
Iggy wasn’t afraid of unknowns.
She wasn’t afraid of untouched borders on the edges of maps, or strange animals calling in the night, or people who spoke languages that she didn’t know. She made friends with strangers, with wild beasts, the odd fish that she could coax over with crusts of bread. She didn’t fear weather, or water, or even the dwindling coins in her pocket.
She was, however, maybe just a little bit afraid of the captain.
Adelina had laughed when she told her. "What's to be afraid of?" she had asked, grinning. "He is the only one with manners."
And she was right, of course. Adelina was usually right. But even with his manners, even with his civility, even with the fact that he hadn't actually spoken more than a few words to her since they put Santo Domingo to their backs -- even with all of that, Iggy had seen his thunderous, churning, storm-black moods one too many times to be put entirely at ease. He had to keep them, she knew. He was barking up at most of the men that he was supposed to be commanding, men who snickered quietly about his age and his stature and a number of other faults they found in him when he wasn’t within earshot. But the look still put Iggy in the mind of a hurricane, and she had spent too long on an island not to run for cover.
Most of the time, anyway.
"It's just a little favor," she muttered to herself by way of a pep talk, loitering outside of the captain’s cabin door as she tried to work up the nerve to knock. "Just a question, actually. He can say no! I’ll find another way if he does. But it’s probably not going to bother him, not really. Probably. Not unless -"
"Ahem."
The interruption came from beyond the door, a pointed clearing of a throat that made Iggy squeak and flatten herself against the wall on reflex. She waited there, heart in her throat, certain that the door beside her was about to burst open in a hailstorm of vicious shouting. Instead, she heard a long sigh, and the faint clatter of a pen being set down.
"Iggy," said Captain Sheffield wearily. “Come in, lass. The door’s open.”
Very slowly, Iggy pushed herself away from the wall. She was well and truly caught now, compelled by politeness and the fact that she would definitely see the captain again to at least give him an answer for her skulking around. Swallowing hard, she shook the last of the nerves out of her hands, counted to five, and pushed through the great cabin door.
It was like walking into a throne room.
Not in grandeur, of course. Nothing on the Ranger could ever be called grand, not even the largest single room it had to its name, the one stacked with glass windows and a locked door and good, solid walls. No, the great cabin of Captain Sheffield was just…dedicated. It existed as if its sole purpose was to be a space for The Captain to be received in, a room where his orders were meted out, where his word firmed up into law. He didn’t live here, certainly. Oh, Iggy could see the shape of a simple berth tucked into one corner, the top of a hastily-filled bookshelf, the rust-spotted lid of a sea chest - but all of that faded into the wings of the stage that was the monstrous writing desk bolted into the center of the room, behind which its captain sat, enshrined in his high-backed chair. Permanently, as far as Iggy knew. If there was a place on the ship where Alex existed on his own, apart from his station, it was certainly not in this room.
He looked up as she slowly approached the desk, shuffling a few sheafs of yellowing paper back into a small pile beside him.
"Evening," he said, switching into his stiff, formal Spanish with a nod. “I don’t usually see you out of your cabin at this hour. Is there, ah, something I can help you with?”
Iggy took a breath. "I need a book," she said, before she could think too hard about it. And then, when the captain quirked a brow, amended, "I mean, I would like a book. Please. If you have one. Or maybe just something heavy? I just need to weigh down a corner of a map, and I thought it might be nice to have something, you know, to read, and I thought, perhaps, maybe, you might just -”
“You thought that I might have something for you,” Alex finished for her. A lopsided little smile had picked up one corner of his mouth, and the angle of it splintered the hard grey veneer of The Captain, just a little. “And I might, in fact. Here.”
He hauled himself off of his chair with a grimace and a few gentle pops of his knees, then moved back towards the small bookshelves pushed against the wall at the foot of his berth. They were short, sagging little things, barely as tall as Iggy’s hip, and the whole of the collection that they occupied could have fit in Iggy’s tiny closet of a cabin with room to spare. Alex squatted in front of them and squinted at the faded covers, muttering under his breath. Eventually, he gave a little noise of triumph and recovered a small, mostly-bound volume wrapped in stained brown buckram from the lowest shelf. He tossed it her way.
“Hamlet,” he said, as she fumbled the catch. “I bought it just before we left England. I think that one might be an illegal printing, but it is well enough. I’ve already spilled everything from ink to ale on it. You can’t possibly do worse.”
He gave her another little twitch of a grin, and a wink, and Iggy felt her face flush with color. She could see no hint of the hurricane now, suddenly. Whatever remained of The Captain seemed to have been left behind at his desk, on the stage, shed alongside his title and his station and the wide, woeful emptiness of his throne. There were hints, still - hard lines around his eyes, the permanent downward slant of his mouth, a deepening bruise color on his lower lids where sleep escaped him - but they were softer now, weary instead of grim. Here, squatting in a little corner beside his berth, backed by sun-baked wood and the only cluster of his things that came from home, he seemed very nearly human.
Iggy felt the thundering of her heart slowly quiet to a rumble.
“Thank you,” she said earnestly, tucking the book against her chest. "I…. will you need it back soon? I won't keep it long, but I -"
"Please," said Alex, with a little huff of a laugh. "Keep it for as long as you need. I would welcome someone else to talk to about it. Tahir tried only once, and wouldn’t get past the first act. I’ve only had my own thoughts to consult since, and it makes for a very poor conversation.”
Five very strange minutes later, Iggy left The Captain enshrined back on his high chair, through the same door that she had stood behind with quaking knees, clutching one of his personally recommended books, and wondering how quickly she could get back in.

NEW AMSTERDAM REACTION
This reaction is for season 4, episode 10 “Death is the Rule. Life is the Exception” which originally aired on November 23, 2021. The episode teleplay was written by Marc Gaffen and David Schulner and directed by Allison Liddi-Brown. Spoilers ahead!
Tumblr media
I love a good villain. Growing up, I was way more into Gaston and Scar and Ursula than I was the protagonists they were terrorizing. When I was older and got into comics, I found myself championing The Joker and Poison Ivy and The Riddler. As much as I love those characters, none of them hold a candle to New Amsterdam’s Dr. Veronica Fuentes.
I haaaaaaaaaatttttteee Dr. Fuentes which I reckon is the point of her character so kudos to the writers. After the stunt she pulled at the end of the last episode, it was a breath of fresh air not having her around this episode.
Casey Acosta, Gladys, Dr. Chang and Dr. Baptiste are still absent. I’m still crossing my fingers that they’ll come back next year.
Iggy gets flirted with by a hot new psychiatry prospect which boosts his confidence. What I loved is that he felt comfortable sharing this information with Martin who was very encouraging. That confidence is short-lived when Iggy has to deliver bad news to a couple whose son has died as a result of the outbreak in the hospital. What shocked me the most was that Iggy ended up offering the job to the hot new doctor. I’m crossing my fingers that this doesn’t result in chaos in the second half of the season. Iggy and Martin are the most stable couple of the show and I know relationships aren’t perfect but they’ve been through so much. Please, writers, just leave them alone!
Now let’s talk about two couples who aren’t so stable. Reynolds insists on keeping his relationship with Dr. Malvo going after she attempts to end things. I’ve already talked about my severe dislike of Dr. Fuentes. Malvo is second on my list. I don’t like her. I’ve never liked her. I think she is bad for Reynolds. I wish Reynolds would wise up and end things with her and just be single for a bit. Oh well, doesn’t look like that’s about to happen any time soon because Malvo is pregnant which can’t bode well for the burgeoning friendship between Reynolds and Baptiste. Sigh.
Bloom finally gets confronted by Leyla who finds out via Floyd that a new position was added to the staff because of Bloom’s monetary donation to New Amsterdam. Even though I love Bloom and Leyla’s relationship, I have to side with Lelya on this. What Bloom did was wrong and the fact that she lied about it has made matters worst. All Leyla has ever wanted was to stand on her own two feet and achieve her own success but now she realizes that Bloom has been working behind the scenes doing it for her. I hope their relationship can survive Bloom’s deceit.
Poor Max! Max tries so hard to be a good person but it’s always one step forward, two steps back. Max belongs at New Amsterdam. Max has achieved so much good in the last few years and now that things are such a mess, I really think he needs to stay and fix them. If I were Max, I’d find it super difficult to leave my friends - Bloom, Iggy and Reynolds - behind to suffer the wrath of Dr. Fuentes. What bothers me is that on some level Sharpe knows that Max needs to stay behind and I keep waiting for her to acknowledge that and give him permission to stay but it keeps not happening. Even tonight, as they were about to get into the cab to leave for the airport, I thought she would tell him to stay but she didn’t. I can’t decide if she is just oblivious or if she is being selfish. Or maybe she is falling into her old habits which is running away.  Well - we’re ten episodes into season 4 and the show is on hiatus until January. The first ten episodes have been great. This show keeps getting better and better. I love that this show draws focus to issues you’d rarely see on television. I love that so many of our patients at New Amsterdam have been POC and a lot of them have been LGBTQ+. I love that the show is not afraid to let it’s protagonist fail and fail often. If this show were made ten, fifteen years ago, Max would be the lovable white savior who never loses.  Well, that’s all I got! This was a great episode. P.S. - I’m glad Dr. Walsh is okay because he’s one of my faves! Until next time!

Why did this leyren breakup make me so much sadder than their first one though? Maybe because I knew that one was coming and hoped they’d work something else out this time. Oh look I answered my own question lmao. Anyway, I’m disappointed but not surprised. I don’t really have hope that they’re going to be a thing next season because there’s so little time and it seems like the writers can’t help but throw bullshit their way over and over again while taking forever to not even solve it…I also read that interview about the series finale and the showrunner sounds almost gleeful about things ending weirdly… he always says he loves them and wants things to work out when in reality it’s like. Dude, Dude. Just write it that way?! Like why the fuck is he even talking about you’re literally in charge buddy lmao
ack idk anon, that first breakup really put me through the meat grinder. plus i can’t even lie, i was very concerned that they were going to write leyla out, especially with her pulling the biggest game of hide and seek. something about this breakup makes me feel more hopeful and i guess it’s because i know there’s still so much love between them and this time it’s not muddied by hurt anger.
i have hope they're going to find their way back to each other next season because there's so little time to the finish line and they've already spent half the show investing in this ship. the writers set up arcs for everyone at the end of the season, max and helen and the very predictable case of the cold feet, iggy's divorce with martin, floyd and his father reconnecting, lauren and leyla kept apart by the visa circumstances. frankly, as long as they don't try to whip up another over arching plot that demands the attention of all the characters like they did this season with fuentes, i think it might work. this show has always done better where it could focus on a character's journey without distractions. s1 with max's cancer, lauren's addiction, helen's fertility issues and desire for a child, s2 with lauren's recovery, max grieving georgia, iggy's eating disorder, floyd's relationship with evie and going against his family's expectations. even s3, which i know was a mixed bag for people but i thought it was miles better than s4, it was lauren meeting leyla, max letting go of georgia, helen and mina, floyd's blossoming relationship with lyn, iggy's body image, self worth, struggles. they can handle one character's thing at a time.
now of course, as i always say, trust the writers as far as you can throw them and have optimism at your own peril lol. of course, i always respect any doom spiral or disappointment. but idk i guess that's still a chance i'm willing to take right now? these writers, demon man david in particular, love to be dramatic and drum up drama like they're gods watching down from mt. olympus. i've kinda learned to cut through their, 'will it OR WON'T IT DUN DUN DUNNN' speak and just focus on picking out their actual tidbits about episodes or the season. so i'm actually very curious to see his post finale interviews LOL.

“These writers have two episodes to fix this before I start throwing bricks!” Message LMFAO. Who do they think they are taking away all the best side characters like that! It better be temporary because this ain’t it. Max pissed me off in this episode. I know he was put in a tight spot but gahdamn.
I think most of them will be temporary (I really hope!) but there will definitely be at least one of them not coming back at all. Poor Agnes got all pepped talked up all day and then this happened. Baptiste is probably just done with the personal and professional BS that seems to have plagued him since coming to NA. And Casey has almost left before so with this and him being on the outs with Bloom, he probably doesn't even want to look back.
I know Max was in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation but I'm sure Reynolds, Bloom, and Iggy wouldn't have blamed him for letting it happen. They know it's Fuentes making all these cuts, not him. His guilt got in the way and it was a bad call, tbh.

Do you like the London idea? I’m not feeling it but I’m excited to see Helen in her element. I keep wondering how they’ll go back and forth between New York and London though? Everyone’s got big stuff going on, with Lauren dealing with her and Leyla’s breakup(I love them but I don’t see how they’ll fix things) and Floyd still messing with Lyn and Iggy wanting to quit. That’s a lot going on and they were already struggling with balancing all the stuff when everyone was in the same place. Now it’s going to be even harder. I know they moved to London to be doctors but I hope they focus on their personal lives a bit before all that because everyone needs to sort themselves out.
I hate it. I always have lol. Like I want more Helen based stories so we can get to know her more and more of just her and Max as a couple, and because Max owes it to his daughter AND Georgia's legacy to FOLLOW through on his promises to the people he claims to love.
But I am wondering how they will return to New York. I want to believe it will be as a united front. That they won't do the New Amsterdam or me thing that Max did to Georgia...like please no.
Lauren is about to get hit and her people, Helen, Casey etc. aren't going to be around for her. At least Iggy is. I hope Leyla can see that Lauren's intentions were from a place of love and desperation if we're honest and focus on that but...it's messy we all know it is and it was unfair to Leyla. I have hope they will make it back to each other but I'm scared. I wanted more joy for them too.
I feel like after the conversation with patient who tried to hurt himself via the pills/wrong script Iggy will be in a better position to feel the magic he has as a psychiatrist and go back to practicing.
Lyn and Floyd are DEFINITELY about to get strained. Baptiste just lost his job and basically his woman emotionally to Floyd. That does a number on a man's ego and I'm extremely curious as to how it will play out. Will Baptiste find work somewhere else and ask Lyn to leave New Amsterdam? Will she?
And yes, finally, if London can be anything it really should be us getting to see Sharpwin the romantic couple.
Also, that ending with Fuentes...wooooooo that was top-tier villain action!
