We continue on our route, leaving the cursed town behind us.
The shelf scrapes the floor with a loud squeal as we move it out of the way. Thankfully there are no infected around, otherwise this would have drawn all of them right to us. My body still aches from yesterday, and it'll probably continue to get worse today. Once the shelf is out of the way enough for us to squeeze through, we begin back on our route.
The morning sun is just barely peeking up over the horizon, meaning the air is still cool. I know it won't last long, so I savor it now. If my thoughts are correct, we should be passing through the town marked with a star within an hour or two. Something inside me is wary of this location, but the optimistic part of me is hoping that we find something useful.
As usual, our journey begins with more silence. If we're going to be going to Omaha together, I might as well start trying to break the silence to hopefully make him more comfortable talking to me. However, I will give him credit where it's due, he was rather talkative yesterday. Twisting my neck side to side, it cracks and relieves some pressure; and I wish the rest of my bones would do the same.
"Not as young as I used to be." I say as I try to get my back to crack. After trying two more times I give up and just accept that I'm going to be in pain. Joel lets out what sounds like a small laugh.
"You're tellin' me." He turns to face me, a faint trail of humor shown on his features.
"Finding a car would be nice." I say with a huff, thinking about the luxury of even the most run-down car. Joel nods his head,
"I guess you want a night at a five-star hotel too?" His humor catches me off guard, and I laugh at his joke. He looks ahead once more, focusing on our route.
"Hey if the opportunity comes around I wouldn't say no." The two of us fall into a silence once more, but this one feels comfortable and not forced, I don't feel like this one needs to be broken.
As Joel walks I notice how his shoulders aren't as tense as they have been the past few days. He doesn't make an effort to stay several paces ahead of me either. Maybe he's warming up to me after all, or maybe it's just the exhaustion. Tearing my eyes away from his figure, I look ahead and see the faint silhouette of buildings. That must be the place we're looking for.
"Look." I say and point out the buildings. Joel's eyes squint to see what I'm pointing at before he nods.
"Gettin' close. We should try to scope it out before we walk on up." He says, thinking tactfully.
"There are some trees off to the right, we could take cover in those." I spot a small area of trees off the road a ways up. The town is still rural enough to where it's not all concrete, there's still some traces of nature, unlike the QZ. He nods his head and changes our course so that we head for the trees.
Once we reach the woods, we both crouch down to muffle our footsteps. At first glance the town seems to be empty, but my instincts are telling me there's more than meets the eye here. There are several buildings that people could be hiding out in, and we would never know from this vantage point. Joel's eyes stay intensely focused on the town as I try to pick up on anything that suggests life.
After fifteen minutes of silent surveillance, I still can't find anything. Nudging Joel with my arm, I silently ask if he wants to move forward. His face looks apprehensive, but he ends up nodding. We cautiously make our way to the conglomerate of buildings through the woods. Though I'm not sure if anyone is here, going in this way is still our smartest bet.
I get to the edge of the woods first and crouch down again to check the surroundings. It's like a ghost town. But then again, it's still early enough that the occupants of this place might still be sleeping. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something just feels off. My head turns to Joel behind me,
"Something isn't right." My concerns come out as a whisper, and I wonder if he's picking up on the same thing. His eyes are narrowed, his eyebrows knitted together.
"Stay close, we go in quiet." He says and walks in front of me without another word. The curved knife finds its way in my grasp and I follow Joel out into the town, trying to keep my breathing calm and collected. We enter the town from the side, finding an alleyway to sneak down instead of taking the main road.
As we come to the end of the alleyway, my eyes land on a barrel sitting out in the middle of the main road. The black soot on the rim suggests to me that it might be a burn barrel. The windows of the buildings have all been boarded up, blocking our vision of any possible inhabitants. Carefully, Joel rounds the corner of the alley and we're out on the main road, sticking close to the front side of the building.
I see cars lined up at the end of the main street, almost like a makeshift barricade. Confirming my suspicions, I turn around and see a similar barrier on the other side of the main street. There's most definitely someone here. I tug on the back of Joel's shirt and point to the cars, seeing his face darken as he reaches the same conclusion as me.
Before we have time to duck back down the alley, a door opens across the street from us. Three men walk out lazily. My body freezes in place and I watch with wide eyes how the men turn left and go away from us. The men all look very unkempt. Their hair is long and stringy, their clothes tattered and worn. I'm willing to bet they've been out here a while.
Joel grabs my hand and pulls me into the building we're standing in front of. The space is dark, and I can barely see in front of me. But I do see a shadow move behind Joel. As my eyes adjust to the dim light, I swear I see something duck down behind the counter.
My grip on my knife gets tighter, and my elbow nudges Joel again. His head whips over to me, and I just silently point to the counter. From the looks of it, this place must have been some sort of diner. There are tables scattering the floorspace and an old menu board hangs crooked on the wall.
Keeping my footsteps silent is my top priority as we go towards the counter. Joel walks in front of me, his own knife secure in his palm. I try my best to listen for movement on the other side of the counter, but I hear nothing. However, Joel rounds the corner of the counter and I hear scurrying. Peeking around the corner, I see a man in the arms of Joel, being placed into a headlock. Too stunned to move, I watch as Joel chokes the man out until his body goes limp. Joel leaves the body and we continue our way to clear the rest of the building.
As we go deeper into the building I see several sleeping bags on the floor and supplies scattered on shelves. My hands grab what I can hold and shove the supplies into my bag. Luckily, it seems like nobody else is in this building. Unfortunately, that means they're probably all lurking out there somewhere. Once we're in the kitchen area of the diner, I whisper to Joel,
"What's the plan here?" I have a good idea of what the plan probably is, but if we're both certainly on the same page, then there's less of a chance that I make a wrong move.
"We take what we find and kill who we have to." He replies nonchalantly, like this is nothing new for him. And truthfully, this might be a regular occurrence for him. If that's the case, then I should be thankful he's here with me, and not against me. I nod my head and we continue moving.
Joel opens the back door to the diner so that we're in a back alley, not the main road. There's a door slamming across the street, followed by several voices. They all sound like men to me. I swallow my nerves and focus on the task at hand; surviving. I follow Joel closely as we move into another building, seeming to be some sort of old hobby store.
"Yeah man, he told me he was going on patrol today. Fucker keeps getting all the good shit." A voice loudly speaks as the front door opens. Joel ducks behind a shelf and I'm forced to take cover behind a display case.
"Would be a damn shame if he came back and all his shit was gone." Another gruff voice speaks. They're getting closer to us. The metal of the knife's hilt digs into my palm and I prepare myself for what has to happen. My eyes stay trained on Joel, waiting for his signal to move since he has the better vantage point.
Heavy footsteps fall just in front of the display case I'm behind, and a hand slams on the top of it, making me jump. The man's hand is large, dirty, and thicky callused.
"You know there would be hell to pay. Crazy bastard would kill us all to find his stuff and you know it." My breathing is shallow. Joel slowly motions for my to stay calm and I nod, showing him that I'm not going to do anything rash. He turns around and throws something, causing a clashing in the front of the store.
"The hell?" One of the men say, but only one of them moves to check it out. The hand on the display case stays put.
"What is it?" The man in front of me asks, his hand finally moving off the case.
There's no reply, they must be skeptical of something. Only the soft sound of footsteps can be heard, but I can't really tell where they're at. My breath catches in my throat as I see a leather boot step in front of me. Adrenaline pumps through my veins as I make eye contact with the man, and he looks startled.
"There's a woman over here!" He yells out as I lunge forward with my knife. I catch the man's abdomen with the blade's curve and he cries out in pain, doubling over. My hand goes back to wind up another strike, but the injured man stands to his full height and grabs my arm. Thinking quickly, I drop the knife from my incapacitated hand and catch it with my free one, and I waste no time in slashing the man's arm, cutting it wide open with the sharp edge.
The man puts up a fight, but he's losing too much blood too quickly, and soon he falls over. There will be more coming after his tip off, and so I move towards Joel, who took down the second man without any issue. The two of us go to leave through the back of the hobby store, the way we came in, but there's something wrong with the door's lock and it won't budge.
"Shit." Joel grumbles as he tries to force the door open, but to no avail. In the front part of the store, the door opens and there's several people that come rushing in. They're all shouting incoherently and causing chaos in the small space. Joel and I split away once more, trying to hide the best we can.
Luckily I had reloaded my gun just outside of Boston, the night Joel found his stash in the store. So I know I have bullets if I need them. However, if I can use stealth to my advantage, I'm going to do that over wasting bullets on live people.
I try to tuck my body closely underneath the clerk's counter, but my bag is just a little too bulky for me to be able to fit all the way in. The approaching men round the corner and one of them spots me right off the bat. Two men come at me and before I can reach for my gun, they're on me.
Wildly, I slash my knife back and forth, trying to fend them off. They keep backing off quickly to dodge the blade, but one of them moves too fast. He tackles me to the ground, my knife falls from my hand. I reach for my gun in a last ditch effort, but my hands are pinned above me. Across the store I hear gunshots ring out and I can only hope they're Joel's.
I use my legs to try to throw the man off of me, but he's too big. His hips hold my torso down and he's got a sick grin on his face.
"Look what we got here boys!" He announces as I struggle to get free from him. I thrash and twist my body in any way that I can, but it's no use. Soon, another man's face hovers over top of me, his face full of curiosity and perverted thoughts. He licks his lips and smiles before he speaks to my captor.
"Oh she's a pretty one too. Whole team can have fun with her for weeks." He claps my captor on the back and my body is frozen to the ground, no longer able to put up a fight. Hot tears stream from my eyes and the man standing above me crouches down, his finger wiping the tears. Instinctually, my body flinches away from his touch.
"Awe don't cry now hun, we're gonna take care of you." He says sickly sweet before moving out of my field of vision. The gunshots on the other end of the store still ring out, and I hear what I think is a body hitting the floor. My chest heaves up and down in a panic as I feel someone's hands on my hips.
"She's armed to the teeth, look at all this." I feel my hunting knife being taken out of its holster and my gun is tossed from my thigh. My captor chuckles and looks down at me, his black eyes raking over my body while the other man disarms me. If he didn't have to keep my hands pinned to the ground, I fear to imagine what he'd be doing to me.
With no more weapons on me, the hands drift to the button of my jeans to undo it. I try to thrash and kick and fight back to get them off of me, but I think it only makes them more excited. My captor laughs as I sob, the man behind him trying to tug my jeans down.
Suddenly, the hands are gone from my hips and a shot rings in my ears. My captor whips around and I see a bullet go right between his eyes. The man's full body weight falls on top of me, making it even more difficult to breathe. Luckily, the weight is moved off of me and I go to hit whoever is coming for me next.
My swinging fists are caught and I'm looking into familiar brown eyes. It takes a moment to register that it's Joel looking back at me. His eyes are wide and there's blood splattered on his face.
"They're gone, they're gone. It's okay." His voice tries to soothe me but I can't stop the sobs that come through me. He lets go of my fists and I lay on the ground, staring at the ceiling as if my body had become permanently bonded to the linoleum underneath me.
After a few fleeting moments, my breathing has started to level out, though the tears continue to fall. I muster up all the strength I have and sit myself up, quickly redoing the button of my jeans with trembling fingers. My dirty hand wipes my nose and I gather my weapons, putting them all in the correct places.
Without another word I stand to my feet and stumble out of the store. I hear Joel behind me as I turn the corner of the store and get sick in the alleyway. My hands are on my knees to support me as my body ejects whatever was in my stomach. Ragged breaths shake me and I close my eyes, trying to calm myself.
When I find it within myself to open my eyes, I turn around and see Joel standing away from me, a concerned look on his face. I readjust the straps of my backpack and wipe my mouth on my shirt.
Though I would love nothing more than to get out of here, I still have to search these buildings and the corpses for anything useful.
I go building by building and search all that I can. Some buildings have canned goods, others are full of old shoes, old clothes, and other old items. It looks like they used these buildings for anything and everything, there's no organization to this chaos.
As I walk to the last building, I see Joel going through the corpses in the store we were just ambushed in. He's checking their pockets and taking their ammo. With quiet gratitude, I focus back on clearing this building so we can get out of here.
I open all the drawers and go through the shelves, only to find a deck of playing cards. There's nothing useful here. My hands grip the edge of the counter and I close my eyes in an attempt to keep my composure. If we went through all of that for nothing, there will be no words to describe my anger.
Joel comes back out to the street and I meet up with him, still sniffling. He offers me a small smile and tilts his head,
"Ready to get out of here?" He asks and I nod.
We continue on our route, leaving the cursed town behind us. The day is still young, so we have the rest of daylight to travel. Hopefully we get as far away from here as possible. My eyes stay trained on the road below me, and I count my steps to keep my mind occupied on anything except what just happened in that town. For once I'm thankful for Joel's silent nature.

Employer: MC, I've got a news for you.
MC: What is it, master?
Employer: *hands them a poster of with their picture on it*
MC: ...
Employer: It's not a wanted nor a missing poster. Though it's quite concerning.
MC: It's just my family.
Employer: Oh. Are they looking for you now?
MC: Yes. It might be.
Employer: *sigh* I'm sure some individuals will try to hunt you down. Be careful.
MC: You're wishing for the wrong person.

Barbatos: MC, is it alright if you take a day off tomorrow?
MC: ...
Barbatos: *smiles*
MC: Yes.
Barbatos: Do you know why?
MC: Our wedding anniversary.
Barbatos: Is there even a time that you would have forgotten about things?
MC: Yes. But if it's anything connected to you, no.
Barbatos: That's great to hear. I've made a reservation to this five-star hotel.
Barbatos: I'm sure we will have a satisfying experience.
MC: I'll do my best.
Barbatos: ...
Barbatos: *chuckles* No. I'm not talking about that.
MC: But isn't that the purpose of a hotel to a married couple like us?
Barbatos: ...
Barbatos: *smiles* Don't make me excited, MC.
------------------------------------------------
Hotel staff: Welcome to Lucia Luscious Hotel where all fantasies are granted.
Barbatos: ...
MC: *glances at him*
Barbatos: *clears throat* We're not midnight customers.
Hotel staff: *sudden realization* Oh! I'm completely sorry! Welcome to Lucia Hotel where you can enjoy different kinds of activities!
MC: Synonymous.
Hotel staff: ...
Barbatos: Anyway, we've rented this whole place.
Hotel staff: Yes. Here are your keys, sir. Feel free to call us if you encounter any inconveniences.
Barbatos: Thank you.
*after the hotel staff has left*
MC: We can start in the lounge.
Barbatos: *still embarrassed from earlier* Quit teasing.
*the assassins who are hiding and observing MC with a sinister smile*
------------------------------------------------
Barbatos: MC, I'll take a shower first.
MC: *nods*
Barbatos: *smiles* *then goes inside the shower room*
MC: ...
MC: *hears the door creaked open*
The assassin: *smiles* *confident that they didn't hear him* *walks closer*
MC: *casually throws a coin at his forehead, knocking him out*
Barbatos: *gets out of the shower room, dragging an unconscious woman*
Barbatos: I almost got peeked on. *chuckles*
MC: Dear, hand her to me. I know where to place them for now.
Barbatos: *looks at the treasure chest at the corner of the room* In there?
MC: Yes. I'm sure three to four people will fit inside.
Barbatos: Poor thing, they are being treated like clothes. *chuckles*
------------------------------------------------
MC and Barbatos: *hunting down all of the assassins in the hotel*
Barbatos: MC, come here for a second. *wipes their forehead* Are you liking this exercise?
MC: I could say the same with you.
Barbatos: Yes. But can we do it quick? I don't want to waste our time with these people.
MC: Got it.
*The last assassin trying to escape*
MC: *throws the cutlery knife at him, piercing the back of his neck*
Barbatos: Such precision.
MC: I'll start doing the cleaning up. You can head first to our room.
Barbatos: I'll help you. *holding the chemical that can melt corpses but leaves a sweet aroma when used*
MC: ...
Barbatos: Let's start? *smiles*
----------------------------------------------
Servant: Mistress.
MC's mom: I know. *giggles* My dear child never fails to make me proud.
Servant: But Mistress, master MC will—
MC's mom: *shot her dead*
MC's dad: *looking sadly at the poor servant*
MC's mom: If MC becomes impatient, I'm sure they will come here.
MC's dad: Yes... I hope so.

SaL anon here bestie and it looks like we're going to be in for another round of reduce, reuse, and recycle next episode 🙄🙄🙄. The stupidity of this is truly astounding, so since we only have 2 days before this shitshow hits the screen I have chosen to fight stupid with ridiculous and wish to share my optimal scenario for getting rid of guest stars and dumb plots.
First Buck is on a dinner date with Natalia, who pumping him for details about his "death", when Kameron and Connor come over. They have no sense of boundaries so they say they have news about the baby Buck donated sperm for. At first Buck is worried Natalia's going to freak out but she gets weirdly interested and asks when he did that. He explains it was before his death and Natalia starts staring creepily at Kameron's stomach and spouts some nonsense about Buck's death was in exchange for creating life and repeated refers to the "death baby". Kameron backs away and stutters out that they just wanted to tell Buck they ran some tests and Connor is the dad after all. Natalia is instantly dismissive and goes back to eating while Buck politely excuses himself and runs from the restaurant.
Cut to Eddie on the beach in heavy pining mode monologuing to himself extensively about how he wanted a sign and Buck on a date with Natalia who "sees him" clearly is a sign its not meant to be. He spots Marisol and starts reluctantly making his way to her when Buck, still fleeing his date, slams into him and knocks him over. He starts going off about how nuts Natalia is but stops when he noticed Eddie glaring at the heavens mutter "goddamnit..".
After the big finale emergency Eddie and Buck are stuck on an uncollapsed portion of the bridge with no way down to the ground. Buck starts to say this whole ordeal has made him realize and appreciate the people in his life more while giving Eddie A Look. Before he can finish though a helicopter comes in with L dangling from a harness and she says some crap like "need a ride" while winking at Buck. Eddie casually shoves her away causing her to spin comically in a circle and then asks Buck "You were saying?".
Hope you enjoyed this as a break from thinking about what is to come and some of the takes floating around out there. Also since you're the actual writer here I'd love to hear of you have an ideal scenario, we might as well have fun with this mess until forced to do otherwise.
Sorry this is so late at night my friend! It was my niece's birthday and I was out of town with every intention of being home by 8 or 9 tonight to answer this before an early bedtime so naturally it was after 11 before I actually got home 🤷🏻‍♀️
Yeah, none of the news coming out about Buck or Eddie's storylines interest me because it's all just a rinse and repeat of season 4 at this point and I'm so so very tired.
I enjoyed your version of events! There's a reason "gotta laugh to keep from screaming" is a tag I use often! 🤣 This gave me quite the giggle reading over it the other night! I wouldn't call myself *much* of a writer though if I was less brain dead I'm sure I could come up with something (6 year-olds man. They will wear you OUT!)
But ideally I would love to see sassy, petty, bitchy Eddie come out about Buck not being able to make it work to meet up with Natalia because those scenes always give me joy, and I would LOVE for literally anything to come out about the donor baby not being Buck's like I need this storyline to end in such a way that we can all just forget it happened and never have to deal with it again. I would also love if L appearance gets cut down to absolutely nothing. Like, a nod across the accident scene where SHE is the blurry background figure for once and then she also disappears never to be heard from or about ever again.
I didn't watch the sneak peeks but I saw some stills and memes about the Madney ones so at least I'm looking forward to that stuff and the calls look like they *could* be interesting but also like they could just be used to push more of Buck's stupid plot with Natalia so we'll see I guess. I'm disappointed with the news that as of yet, KR is still supposed to be moving with the show but they've got time to hammer out the details. I'm sure it will be like RNM did where it's "oh I left for such and such other, better, opportunity" which is fine I don't even care how they spin it as long as she leaves but if she's still around for s7....eh. I'm too tired to try and cross that bridge just yet.
Good luck to us tomorrow, and next week and then maybe I can breathe and work on my fic and actually get somewhere on it!

There's such an obsession, at least in the US, with memorizing things almost just for the sake of memorizing things and it's honestly such a waste of everyone's time, especially the person being forced to memorize needless junk
The thing is, the stuff you need to know you'll start remembering more because you use it, and the rest it's fine to look up
Examples, I used to be terrible at spelling in part because I'm dyslexic. For some reason in the US people really care about how well people are about to spell, not as in "hey... don't know what this word is supposed to be, it would help if you could spell better", just like this... almost offence at the concept of someone being bad at spelling. At least, that's how it felt to me growing up terrible at spelling
Want to know what fixed it? Talking online with people, even more so once I had a spellchecker and stuff. Having to write words more often got me used to the spelling of those words because I was using them a lot, and the spellchecker let me see how to spell the stuff I was getting wrong
Same for me and typing. Used to do a pretty fast chicken peck, but when I started talking with people a lot through text I just kind of found one day that I could type pretty fast without looking. Didn't train it or anything, don't know if I do it the proper way, though I know it's pretty close
When I was taking chemistry, I knew the atomic weights of the elements that came up a lot, looked up the rest. Pharmacy, you get a good grasp on the meds that come up a lot
I'm not saying studying or trying to memorize things is bad, I just think we focus on the wrong stuff a lot of the time. It's better for someone to know how to look up how to get the right answer than to just have one specific answer memorized. If someone can quickly identify which formula they need for a math problem and know how to apply it, there's no problem with just looking up a formula they rarely use whenever they need a refresher
Method is just so much more important than minutiae, and no matter what it is the stuff that you use all the time you don't forget
#if you're wishing death on people you might just take a peek and make sure your moral compass#is where you want it. You don't even have to change it just check on it real quick#so you like nazis and pedophiles?#oh so you don't think people should learn things? you think knowledge is bad?#I really wish I knew how to say things without making it a huge wall of text#I might just say that last sentence but... you know tumblr makes me need to over explain and qualify every idea so much worse#still remember the time I made a post saying#and I had a couple people hop on that post and be like#and it's just like... ok#that post was about something specific I saw actually but like... I'm not giving a whole backstory for it just to justify it#anyway though if people can twist your words on something like that#what's to stop them from looking at the short version of this and being like#or something equally insane#and in many ways it's not that I really care#it's just I try to stay away from online drama and I don't need it finding me over nothing#I don't know this is a long pointless rant probably because I'm tired#but like I said... that kind of stuff is why I over explain even more these days than I always have#I'm generally very choosy with my wording which isn't a bad thing usually#it means I take time to think about how someone could take my words and I think lets me rework it so as to be as supportive as possible#one on one I think it's mostly a good think though I hate how much more I talk than other people#it makes me feel so annoying#and like I'm talking over them#anyway... thankfully despite having more followers than makes sense no one really bothers me#I can't know all the people who follow me but generally everyone seems cool#anyway... really want to go to bed here so hopefully I can break free and do that

PAIRING: Rich Boy!Eren x Fem!Reader
WARNINGS [present+future]: infidelity, dubcon, gaslighting, manipulative and toxic behavior, toxic relationship, sexual content, yandere tendencies, suggestive hand-holding
part one
kofi
Tumblr media
There's a sneer on Eren's face as green eyes behind Versace aviators glide over your form, staring you up and down. His gaze is so penetrative, it makes your teeth chatter. Maybe he was just checking you out. Maybe he was scrutinizing every blemish.
You suddenly feel so very small in your tennis skirt, the tight collared shirt stretching over your breasts, and wished that today out of all days wasn't when you decided to dress a little more stylish.
"Fancy seeing you here." His voice is nonchalant but there's a tone of humor that accompanies his brisk words. How long would it be until he laughs at you?
He scowls, "Are you mute or something? Why aren't you greeting me back properly?"
"Eren," You took a deep breath, "What are you doing in Paris?"
It occurs to you that you've never seen him out of his uniform before. He's wearing a light blue button-down, half the buttons left unfastened, polo shorts, an expensive black watch glittering on his wrist, silver rings on his slender fingers, and a thin silver chain dangling around his neck.
He's also acquired a new piercing, industrial, judging by the bar across his ear. The silver glints harshly under the sun.
"Are you done burning holes through me?"
You blush, embarrassment coloring your cheeks: "No, I'm just surprised." You tucked a loose lock of hair behind your ear, "Didn't expect to run into anyone I knew in another country."
You were just taking a pleasant walk in the acclaimed Champs-Élysées, the avenue every bit as a picture-perfect postcard as it had been described.
"Have you eaten?" The question is spoken with a sigh like he couldn't believe he was asking you this, and you couldn't either.
"Oh, um, no?" You responded, bewildered.
He runs a hand through his dark hair, which reached the nape of his neck by now: "I know a cafe around here. Let's get brunch. We'll talk there."
You don't know what possessed you to nod but you did so, trying to match his quick and long strides. The walk was silent, presumably because the two of you were saving your burning questions for the cafe.
He rolls his eyes when you stutter through your French. He raises a hand, and simply tells the waiter his order and dismisses him. His French is flawless and you're tempted to ask him how it's so good, but you already know the answer. Probably had hordes of tutors to help him.
Merci Monsieur
"Wait," You remark to Eren, "I didn't order."
"I ordered for us. Pain au chocolate, savory crepes, eggs, and ham. Coffee after. For me. Hot chocolate for you because you don't drink coffee."
Oh. That actually sounds good. How did he know your beverage preferences?
He fishes out a cigarette from his pocket, skinny and hand-rolled, "So what are you doing here? No offense but you don't exactly seem like you can afford a vacation to France. "
Now is your turn to sigh. You've nearly forgotten how blunt he could be: "Here on an internship. For art" You supply.
"I assume you just regularly come to Paris every summer?"
He doesn't deny or verify your statement, "Something like that."
"So you're staying at a hostel or?" He asks, exhaling a thick cloud of smoke that makes your nose wrinkle.
The waiter comes by with food, and you turn to Eren with a sour look, "I sincerely hope you're not going to smoke while we're eating."
To your utter surprise, he ashes the cigarette. You were expecting a witty and mean retort at the very minimum, not silent compliance.
You pick up the earlier conversation, "Well, I'm actually staying with my boyfriend." You mummer the last word quietly but the viridian-eyed boy's ears are keen. You don't notice how his grip on the knife tightens.
"You're staying with your boyfriend?" He repeats.
You nod, "Yeah, he's an art student too."
The rest of the meal is completed in sparing small-talk and lengths of silence. But it's not awkward. It's weird. On one hand, having brunch with Eren Yeager in fucking Paris, heir to a billionaire pharmaceutical company should feel surreal, but it's strangely peaceful. You feel more at peace sitting across from him in France than you did when he sat next to you in homeroom.
When it's time to pay the check, Eren looks amused by the very notion of you digging into your purse.
"What kind of gentleman would I be if I let the lady pay?" His words are spoken with a teasing smile.
You roll your eyes but can't help a glimmer of a smile from peeking through on your lips, "Didn't take you much for a gentleman."
He tosses his black card on the bill, "You'd be surprised."
What's there left to do now? Is it time to part ways? There's a part of you that craves more but life has taught you to not be greedy when you already have so so much.
You dabble the corner of your lips with a napkin, "Well, this has been fun-"
"Wait, uh, do you wanna check out the Louvre? Since you're an art student and all, you might uh enjoy it."
You stare at him. Is he tongue-tied?
"You've probably there been a million times already."
"Yeah...but you haven't been, right?"
You blink before breaking into a smile that Eren is sure is going to give him heart palpations, so sunny and bright.
"I would love to!"
You guys check out Mona Lisa for the sheer novelty, and you're bouncing around the museum, oohing and ahhing at the chiseled statues and Renaissance paintings. There is so much history here, it blows your mind.
Eren finds himself watching you more than the paintings. You have this veneer of snark that you wrap around yourself like a protective gauze (maybe that's how you maintain your survival in a world of hyenas) but you're different now.
You're yourself. Watching you here come alive in unbridled enthusiasm, eyes widened in passion, makes him reach out to his pocket and fish for his disposable film camera. He doesn't know if he's ever seen anyone in his vapid life look like the way you do, so filled with a zest for things that are greater than themselves.
He wants to burn you into his memory, praying to all the gods that you won't notice when he takes a picture of you admiring a bust of a goddess. He slyly tucks his camera back into his pocket.
The world seems to stand still when you tug his hand to show him a painting, an expression of unadulterated wonder on your face. But when you realize you pulled his hand, you immediately drop it like hot coals.
Why do you look so worried? Why do you look so scared?
"You can hold my hand if you want. It's-it's okay." He can't believe he's gotten the words out.
You're taking too long, your hands still hanging limply by your side, an indiscernible expression on your pretty face. Eren doesn't understand why it makes him so mad, why your sudden hesitation grated his nerves. Deciding to make your choice for you, he grabs your hand, squeezing your palm as he flashes you the charismatic smile that's got him out of countless incidents.
He doesn't like the expression of worry marring your features. Where did the happy jovial girl go? Just a few seconds, you were poking him with sparkles in your eyes, "Look at this Eren!" and "So beautiful, right?"
He forces another smile: "Show me the painting you wanted me to see." Maybe it was meant to be a request but it comes out as a demand.
You cast a glance at your joined hands, his grip borderline painful. "O-okay."
You lead him across the floor, and Eren can feel the stares of people around him. They are smiling. An older woman utters a "Un si charmant couple."
You take him to a grand painting. It's haunting and dark, swirling with so many shades of dusty red from vermillion to scarlet. A pregnant woman lies reclined, arm hanging and head lolling. She appears to be asleep, and there is a cacophony of men around her portrayed in varying degrees of stress.
"Death of a virgin", you breathed.
Such a macabre name, Eren thought as he gazed longer into the painting. He loosens his grip on your hand, testing whether you would pull away.
You don't.
It's raining outside and you're giggling.
"Fuck" Eren swears, "I'll call a cab."
You're a vision drenched in rain. Your clothes are soaked, and he could see the outline of your bra from your thin shirt. But it seems like you don't even care.
"Let's just enjoy it!" You cry out. There are thick droplets stuck in between your eyelashes, and you smell like rain too. It's dangerous, he can see chords of purple lightning flash the sky, thunder booming, and it's like you're dancing, the way you move so effortlessly.
You hook his hands in yours, "Doesn't this feel good?"
He feels like all his sins are being washed away, all the impurities and muck that clung onto him after nineteen years of existence. His heart nearly jumps out of his throat every time he looks at you.
He cups your chin and kisses you. When he feels the threadbare resistance, he kisses harsher, tongue and teeth swallowing your protests, coaxing your mouth open with a skillful pinch to your nipple. He pulls away just before you feel like all your breath has been robbed.
You're stunned speechless, "Eren...I...h-have a boyf-"
He kisses you again. And this time you kiss back, holding nothing back.

✎author's note: idk what I was going through when I wrote this but this was from my 2018 archive and I think this baby needs to see the light of day,, so here it is!
"The concert should be done now," you thought to yourself while staring at your phone.
Since your brother's wedding was in 2 days, you didn't have time to fly to Toronto to see your boyfriend and his group perform. You've been on a few tours with them– sometimes working as a stylist for Yugyeom and the whole team. JYP himself even sends you an extra ticket to every single country the boys go to just in case you wanted to come with, but this time however, you had to stay home to help out with your brother's wedding.
It's been almost 3 years since you started dating Yugyeom. What started out as a very unexpected interaction at a dance showcase, later bloomed into something so beautiful. Your relationship wasn't always pretty. In fact, it's true what they say about the first year; it definitely is the hardest.
You've seen them grow, not just as artists but as people, too. You've built such tight relationships with each and every one of them, even the staff members. GOT7 was a family and you were over the moon to be a part of it.
After a few hours of waiting, you decided to take a hot shower before taking a nap. It was a tiring day for you and your family. The wedding was in 2 days and there were a lot of things left to do. You also knew very well that the boys come out exhausted after every show, and so you fought back the slightest feeling of worry in your head and fell into a deep sleep.
You woke up to the sound of your phone going off.
BREAKING NEWS
MEMBERS OF THE KPOP GROUP– GOT7, WERE SEEN AT A CLUB IN TORONTO AFTER THEIR CONCERT. MEMBERS MARK TUAN, JACKSON WANG & KIM YUGYEOM WERE SPOTTED HEAVILY INTOXICATED WITH 3 UNKNOWN WOMEN JOINING THEM AT THEIR TABLE. NO OFFICIAL STATEMENTS REGARDING THE INCIDENT HAS BEEN RELEASED BY JYP ENTERTAINMENT.
People you knew and didn't know were tagging you everywhere. Every photograph, every article, they all had their eyes on Yugyeom, and they all had their eyes on you, too.
Your brother's fiancée barged into your room shortly after the news broke out. She was always there for you, and the relationship you shared was a very special one. You trusted her, and you never hid anything from her after the first time she saw you cry.
"Y/N," your almost sister-in-law cooed. You both knew that it was very unlikely of Yugyeom to act that way, but then again, the people surrounding them aren’t always angels. No one really is.
Just then, the name you've been waiting to see finally popped up on your screen, but this time, you weren't sure if you had the guts to answer him.
"Should I answer?" You asked, sounding miserable as ever. Tears escaped your eyes, glistening like broken glass when the sunlight hits the surface.
"You need to hear it from him, Y/N. I'll be in the kitchen, let me know if you need anything."
Accepting the call, you swallowed hard enough and prepared yourself for what could either be the most painful truth you had to hear, or the biggest lie ever you had to believe.
"Y/N.. hey, please let me explain," Yugyeom's voice was incredibly raspy and shaky, and you knew damn well that he was in tears. It's only been a few hours since the incident, so it was safe to say that he was still quite hungover. You knew they were well taken care of, but what happened cannot be rewritten again. What's done is done.
"Go ahead," you answered. Holding back your tears is always the hardest when you know that you have no choice but to endure the pain.
"We had a few drinks, and we had fun. We had so much fun. The boys and I, the staff. Me and Jackson hyung tried the hose thingy, it was so– cool– but, but I'm sorry babe, I'm so sorry–"
"Do you just.. wanna talk when you’re not like.. this, Yugyeom? Because if you're gonna keep doing this, I might as well just hang up and talk to my fucking wall–"
Oh, the theatrics of a brokenhearted beast.
"No.. stop, listen to me, I'm trying to explain!"
"Okay, then do it," you said angrily. The tears from your eyes were flowing down uncontrollably. It was so painful that you couldn't even hear anything else but the sound of his lies breaking you continuously.
"Mark hyung joined us, and we got so drunk, and next thing you know, these random girls sat with us at the table. I don't remember a lot but– I think one even bit my neck– it hurts, and she– I think she sat on my lap but I think I tried to push her off but I passed out. I don't really remember anything else–"
"You know, Gyeom? Sometimes, I wish you knew what it's like to be the one that patiently waits for you to come home, hoping that the worries in your head just disappear. How could you be so irresponsible? Man.. how could you do this to me? To us?"
"Y/N, you know I love you more than anything else but for fuck's sake, will you please believe me? My head hurts so much and you're acting up! Jesus!"
Yugyeom knew not to push your buttons, but in that state of his, he pushed it all, not missing one.
"Well, if that’s the case then I’m sorry. I’m sorry for caring too much, and for being all up in your business all the fucking time. Have fun remembering how you got that stupid hickey of yours, I’m done–"
"No, you are not hanging up on me, Y/N. It was a mistake, okay? God, my head is killing me and I just.. need you to believe me. I drank too much, and I know it’s bad, but I swear to fucking God, I didn’t do anything to hurt you. I would never hurt you. But you need.. to stop being difficult.. you’re making things worse here–"
The tension grew even more. You were both screaming your lungs out at each other, thousands of miles away from the other.
"Really now?" You spat bitterly. That was it for you. The last straw. "Well then, I know my brother invited you to the wedding, but don't bother showing up. I don't want to see you."
Your harsh words must've hurt Yugyeom so much, that his screams of anger just managed to slip out of his already worn out body.
"You're really throwing this all away– huh? Almost 3 years worth of memories? Just because I made a mistake, just because I don't remember everything that happened to me while I was intoxicated? You think I wanted those girls to come close to us? You're so– Y/N, you really think I wanted to hurt you, don't you? So now.. you do this? You're really breaking up with me? On the phone? Are you fucking kidding me?"
"Trust, Yugyeom. Trust. You broke the most important thing we built. Do you know how hard it is to do this? To date someone like you? People send me death threats, Yugyeom. Just because I decided to be with you. Do you even know how I feel? Do you know how Mark's girlfriend feels? How Jackson's girlfriend feels? Because I do. We all fucking get it!"
"Okay, trust. But let me ask you Y/N, if things were so difficult, why are you still here? Why date me when you could've left? That's what you wanna do anyway, right? You wanna leave, you wanna be free, right?"
But it’s not freedom if it’s not with you.
The bitter taste of surprise was too much for you. It was never meant to hurt that much, but it did.
"Wanna know why I'm still here, Yugyeom?"
"Why," he spat coldly.
"Because I thought that– loving you, oh god, I thought that that was more than enough to believe that we'd make it. But at this point, maybe we're both just better off alone. Separate ways, Gyeom."
Yugyeom let out a faint laugh. The most painful laugh one could ever laugh. A laugh of defeat.
"You're really doing this, huh? This is what you want? You're really doing this to us–"
"You don't need to show up at the wedding.. I'll just, tell them about us after. We'll meet when we're both ready to talk. Be safe."
"Fuck this, Y/N. Fuck–"
And with that, you hung up.
Your heart was broken once again, not by the same person, but because of the same reason you kept your heart safe and hidden in the first place.
Trust.
Yugyeom was your true love. The man you believed to be was your person. The person you entrusted your fragile self to. The person you needed.
But maybe he doesn't need you.
Putting your phone on silent, you cried yourself to sleep, wishing you'd never wake up.
wedding day.
Your eyes were still tired and gloomy, but you were better. You haven't heard from him since the fight and although it hurt you too much to be that person to hang up and end things, you knew better than to mope all day and question your existence.
"You look so beautiful in that dress! I'm so happy you chose that style! It's just perfect," your brother's soon-to-be wife exclaimed. She was the one who held you tight when your heart broke for the wrong guy, and she was also the one who held you when Yugyeom couldn't. It's safe to say she's the sister you never had.
"Thanks, I'm happy to be here. I'm so excited for you and my brother. I don't know what you see in him but I'm thankful you stuck around."
The bride smiled with tears welling up in her eyes. "You stick around for the one you love, Y/N. Even when the storm hits and everything falls apart, wait it out, then love again."
The wedding venue was everything you imagined it to be. A beautiful pathway to the garden, red and white roses everywhere, and photographs of your brother and his soon-to-be wife hung from the stringed lights wrapped around the tall trees to create the most beautiful ambiance.
Your quick peek of the venue ended since it was almost time for the actual ceremony. You were one of the bridesmaids, and you had to be wherever the bride was.
From afar, a tall figure walked towards the venue in a red suit. His dark hair complemented his outfit, and his handsome face was the cherry on top of it all.
Yugyeom showed up to the wedding a few minutes before it actually started. He took his time exchanging words of happiness and support to your brother. Yugyeom's relationship with your brother started out like any other brother – boyfriend relationship, but the two ended up being very close friends. A few moments before announcing the beginning of the ceremony, Yugyeom found his way to his seat. He sat close to the front, but in the corner.
The ceremony began, and every second felt longer than it should have. Closing your eyes, you took slow, but steady, steps to the podium where your brother was. You both agreed to welcome the bride with your whole family present next to him.
dirty looks from your mother
never seen you in a dress that color, no
it's a special occasion
not invited but I'm glad I made it
He looked at you like it's the first time he's ever laid eyes on you. His heart thumped like crazy, seeing how your hair fell perfectly down the length of your spine, in a red dress that exposed most of your back. Yugyeom couldn't resist every urge to kiss you. Every thought of you possibly breaking up with him completely made the poor boy pale. He was madly in love with you, in every possible way, that losing you meant losing everything to him.
The moment you stood next to your brother, your eyes met his. The eyes you hated to look into, but missed the most. Yugyeom stared at you for a long time, before you both snapped out of the trance only you two were in. You saw him mouth a "wow" before facing the bride and giving her a hug.
Walking to your designated seat, your mind went crazy just imagining how hard it would be to keep your composure when Yugyeom would literally be inches away from you.
"Beautiful," Yugyeom said in awe as you sat next to him. "You're beautiful, Y/N."
Without looking at him, you extended your gratitude. "Thank you, Yugyeom," was all you could say.
You both tried so hard to focus on the wedding. For the most part, it felt like no one else was there. You were in the moment, and so was he.
The exchange of vows was definitely something. Every word your brother and his wife exchanged was pure love. And deep down, you prayed that the love you needed was Yugyeom's.
oh, let me apologize
i'll make up, make up, make up, make up for all those times
your love, I don't wanna lose
i'm begging, begging, begging, begging, I'm begging you
As if on cue, Yugyeom held your hand without looking at you. His hand was shaky, and so was yours, but you didn't pull away. You held onto him, too. You held onto him like your life depended on it, and you held onto the person that longs for you the most.
"I do," your brother speaks into the microphone, looking at his woman. Yugyeom holds your hand even tighter, saying the same words your brother said, loud enough for you to hear it. Only you.
I do.
The bride reciprocates, and tears immediately stream down your face as the rush of emotions take over you.
Not wanting to lose the love of your life ever again, you follow suit, and said the same words the bride said. Only for you and Yugyeom, it meant something else. Only something the two of you could understand.
I do.
You both stood firmly, not letting go of each other, when the officiator finally said the words everyone wanted to hear.
You may now kiss the bride.
Not wasting a precious second, Yugyeom pulled you into a tight embrace, holding your head against his chest. His lips planted kisses at the top of your head, and suddenly everything was right in the world.
The scent of his perfume was home to you, and it made you feel so much better.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm so stupid, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry," Yugyeom whispered, still keeping you in his arms.
"I'm sorry, too, Gyeom," you answered, trying hard not to let the tears roll down your cheek and ruin your makeup.
Yugyeom finally kissed you.
He kissed you without stealing the spotlight from the newly weds. He kissed you softly, but it was clear that he longed for it. For you. He kissed you just the way you needed to be kissed, reminding you that he is yours in full surrender.
"I love you, Gyeom."
You finally meet his gaze. The prettiest eyes you've ever seen, and he really was the best thing that's ever happened to you.
"I love you, Y/N. I love you."
Wait it out, then love again.

Hello! I'm back with another request if you're ok with it?! Headcanons with Sebastian and Ash falling for the same darling?
I’m so glad you requested something for Ash!! He’s soo underrated when it comes to Yandere stuff!! We all saw in the Anime that Sebastian is way stronger than Ash, but to make this more interesting and fair Ash will be on a similar level of strength in this scenario.
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, possessiveness, obsessiveness, paranoia, delusions, stalking, manipulation, sabotage, mentions of kidnapping, mentions of killing
Ash and Sebastian falling for the same darling
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🐈‍⬛▫️I already told you what makes Sebastian attracted to the s/o, their scent and the cat-like character. And it’s pretty obvious what Ash’s ideal type is, isn’t it? The most innocent soul on this planet. If you fulfill all this then you’ll have a demon and an angel after you. And this will most likely not end well...
🐈‍⬛▫️I think the s/o is a servant in the Phantomhive manor which means Sebastian was the first one who went Yandere for them. How couldn’t he with their sweet scent and alluring character? Sebastian became quickly possessive over them.
🐈‍⬛▫️Ash met them for the first time during the curry contest. He already knew that Sebastian was a demon and probably expected the whole household from Ciel to be just a bunch of dirty and rotten souls so imagine his surprise when he caught a glance of the s/o’s soul which was basically radiating of purity. To say that he was shocked would be an understatement. How could such a clean soul exist anywhere near such a dark creature like this demon?! His obsession kicked at that very moment in, feeling thrilled that he found such a pure thing like the s/o.
🐈‍⬛▫️Even though Sebastian didn’t know at that time that Ash was a fallen angel he already had a bad feeling about him at that time which came most likely from the fact that he noticed how Ash looked at the darling. He had this look of burning passion in his eyes whilst looking at them, a look which Sebastian knew too well. It was the same look he always had in his eyes when looking at the s/o. He quickly stepped protectively in front of them and sent Ash a silent and warning glare. Over Ash’s face flashed for a short second an angry expression, feeling angry because this...this scum had just blocked this precious clean soul from his view. He was quick to return the glare Sebastian sent him, both glaring at each other with strong dislike and disgust. That’s how it all started...
🐈‍⬛▫️Some time passed until Ash met the darling again, which was when he visited Ciel to inform him about the cult and the queen’s wish to eliminate the cult. During the whole time there was some tension in the air because Ash and Sebastian kept exchanging glares at each other. Sebastian felt the most frustrated since he knew he couldn’t do anything in front of his master and he also knew that telling his master his suspicions wouldn’t be of much help either since Ash was the queen’s personal butler and his master was the queen’s loyal guard dog. Ash also knew that he couldn’t do anything, at least for now, because if Ciel and Sebastian would find out what he really was and what his plans were, he knew that he would get some problems with them.
🐈‍⬛▫️Ash was also clearly annoyed that he couldn’t find you when he had entered the mansion and he knew that this was most likely Sebastian’s fault. How dare this brat to prevent him from seeing you?! When he left the manor he had a clearly annoyed expression on his face, gritting his teeth angrily. But then he suddenly noticed that someone was hiding behind one of the trees in the garden and was peeking from behind the tree trunk at him. Ash quickly noticed that it was you, immediately recognizing the purity which was radiating of from you and called you over with a charming smile on his face. You slowly stepped towards him with a curious look on your face and Ash almost went on his knees and started crying, being amazed at how brilliant your soul was.
🐈‍⬛▫️Sebastian on the other hand was boiling with jealousy when he looked out of the window and saw you and Ash walking next to each other whilst talking to each other. Damn it! Hadn’t he told you to help Baldroy in the kitchen?! But then again, you had told him that you wanted to meet the butler of the queen and if you were interested in something you always made sure to quench your thirst, that was one of these things Sebastian found so charming about you. Your cat-like curiosity. Never in his long demon life Sebastian had ever felt the need to kill someone that strongly like in that moment. Ash noticed how Sebastian was death glaring at him through the window and sent him a smug smile, saying his farewells to you and giving you a kiss on your hand, making sure to send the demon a challenging look and enjoying the blush that was blossoming on your face.Sebastian was fuming with anger and if it wouldn’t have been for his master who noticed how Sebastian almost lost control of himself and ordered him to get a grip of himself he would have probably went berserk then and there.
🐈‍⬛▫️The following weeks were hasty for Sebastian and Ash, but most of all they were stressful for you. Ash had definitely the advantage in here because he was the queen’s butler and was able to manipulate her so for some reason you were often called over to the queen’s palace to stay there for a longer period of time which made Sebastian enraged. He even tried to talk his master into not sending you away, but Ciel told him simply that they were the queen’s personal orders and that this was a chance to enhance the trust from the queen. If you made a good expression there this would automatically have a positive effect for him as well. Sebastian knew that if he would do something to prevent you from going there he would get troubles with his master and Ash so for a long time he was in a bad position.
🐈‍⬛▫️Both of these men here are charming and manipulate and both of them tried to win your affection. Ash often invited you over and showed you around the palace, let you ride on horses and generally let you do things you couldn’t do in the manor. I mentioned in my Hc’s about him that he also wants to impress his darling so he would definitely show them his talent with swords and would basically try to show you that he’s better than Sebastian. He would try to convince you that he was the better choice since he was the queen’s butler and was much more qualified to be your partner than a ‘normal’ butler like Sebastian. Whatever you wish for, he’ll give it to you. Ash would spoil you and shower you in compliments. Sebastian knew that he hadn’t all this money to buy you things you wanted so he relied on impressing you, just like Ash and tried to spoil you in his ways. He couldn’t buy you rings, necklaces and other fancy stuff, but he knew that you were a little gourmet and prepared you very often your favorite meals which made your eyes sparkle with excitement when you saw the mouthwatering food. He also tried to impress you with his intelligence, he did live a long life after all and the look of admiration you would give him whenever he told you something what you were curious about made this man’s chest swell with pride. He would also try to give you a bad image of Ash, telling you that people like him from a higher class often tended to loose interest fast in one woman, especially if she was a normal servant. Sebastian just wants to make sure that he doesn’t break your heart.
🐈‍⬛▫️If you would choose Ash, this man would immediately ensure that you would never go back into this manor, would never be anywhere near this demon again. He wouldn’t even let you anywhere near humans again, being scared that they might taint your brilliant and pure soul with their dirty touches and presences. Sebastian on the other hand would feel nothing, but pure demonic rage that even his master will feel a bit intimidated. But here again, Ash has the advantage in here because he controls the queen and Sebastian’s contract with Ciel will keep him from doing anything because Ciel was quick to notice that Sebastian got too attached to you and ordered him to not do anything and that he should just accept the fact that you loved Ash. Sebastian just wanted to kill that boy in that very moment and resented that he had gone into a contract with this brat.
🐈‍⬛▫️If you would choose Sebastian this man would make sure to keep you somewhere where no one can find you because he knows that Ash will bribe the queen to get you back. And that’s exactly what Ash will do. The moment he hears that you have suddenly disappeared he gets this kind of paranoia that will start wars and immediately comes over to the mansion and will start to pressure Ciel, telling him that the queen expects him to find you as soon as possible. After that he makes sure to find Sebastian, yelling enraged at him and demanding him to bring you back to him. Sebastian on the other hand stays surprisingly calm and tells him with an arrogant grin that you chose him and he just made sure that Ash wouldn’t try to change your mind. This made Ash even more angry, he somehow knew that Sebastian wasn’t lying. How dare this demon to taint your innocent mind with his images?! How dare he to take you away from him, your guardian angel?! He was almost about to attack Sebastian, but held back because he knew that this was what the demon wanted. But very soon he would be able to have you all for himself.
🐈‍⬛▫️The moment he reveals that he’s an angel is the moment we’re both men start getting ruthless. Sebastian because now Ciel knows what Ash really is and gives him free hand and Ash because now he doesn’t need to hide his real identity anymore. Now both of them can finally do what they wanted to do from the moment they first saw each other, killing their greatest rival. When Ash burns London down he won’t offer Sebastian to work together, different from in the Anime, but he’ll more likely declare war to him and the final fight between them isn’t anymore about saving Sebastian’s master or purifying London. It’s all about killing each other so the winner can have the most precious thing in the world all for himself, you. Since I made Ash in this scenario stronger, Sebastian will use his demon form from the very beginning, absolutely ready to shred Ash into pieces and the same goes for Ash. I can absolutely see that they’ll destroy the whole town whilst fighting against each other and whoever wins this fight will instantly start searching for you and as soon as he finds you, he’ll make sure that you’re his for eternity.
I’m personally curious, would you choose Ash or Sebastian?

Forgive Me
Tumblr media
Summary: It only seemed more prevalent, now more than ever, that people like him didn’t deserve people like you.
Word Count: 4.8k+ Words
Pairing: Natsuo x Reader (21+)
Warnings: blood, death, gang organization involvement, gun use, sexual content, explicit language, and angst
A/N: First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MAIN MAN NATSUO TODOROKI!! And I also want to say thank y’all so much for 2k followers! You make my heart ache. To celebrate, I wrote this self-indulgent mafia au fanfic that nobody asked for. I honestly just wanted to write Todorokis involved in organized crime.
All the Japanese in here is from Google Translate. It most likely butchered it, so I’m sorry about that. I tried.
Some things to mention: *Yakuza: Basically, the Japanese mafia  *Oyabun: The leader of the organization *Onna-Oyabun: The spouse of the leader. It really translates to the “wife.” I tried to keep things gender neutral, however, I couldn’t find a gender neutral term for this. Please forgive me!
Thank you for ridin with me, y’all! Enjoy this one, hotties ❤️
Forgive Me
All Natsuo had ever wanted for you was normalcy. Call it wishful thinking—his siblings called it naivety. However, there was nothing more the young successor wished for than for you to have the life you deserved. One filled with love, laughter, and smiles. Not tears, blood, and bullets.
He wanted you to be able to come from work or class with a head full of things for the two of you to gossip about over dinner and ice cream. He wanted to be able to cancel his day and take you to that one amusement park you always talked about. He wanted the petty arguments about whose turn it was to do the dishes and whose brownie recipe was better.
Natsuo wanted that for you. Not this.
Your shared room suddenly felt cold and rigid as he stood by the doorway. The sight of your body curled into the sheets, hoping the mattress would swallow you up, made his heart ache. There was no movement except for the slow rise of your breathing as you stared at the wall next to the bed.
Natsuo’s grey eyes focused on the bandage patched to your ear and was brought back to the events prior. An event that had been the reason why he couldn’t have spent the evening in your arms.
[Earlier]
Since having been introduced into the Todoroki lifestyle, life had been hectic. You had been ripped away from your normalcy and propelled into the yakuza* game. It was seeped in cruelty, darkness, and evil that would make you spend nights shivering.
Ever since you had been engaged to Natsuo, your exposure only grew worse. Your fiancé would spend nights apologizing, but you’d only quiet him with a kiss and a small joke.
It wasn’t his fault. His older brother, Touya, was “deceased”. It was against tradition for Fuyumi to have it, and Shouto was too young. He would have to be the next Oyabun* and, despite his unwillingness, there was nothing anyone could do about it.
But that wasn’t something to dwell on. Especially today. Today, you had plans to go shopping with Fuyumi and Shouto and end the night with some well-deserved quality time with your husband-to-be. You had rarely seen anyone due to yakuza activity, so this was something you were looking forward to.
You smoothed down your outfit, adjusting your watch in the mirror. You gave yourself a nod, liking what you saw.
Natsuo came from around the corner, eyeing you with a glint you knew all too well. He apparently liked what he saw too.
“Hi,” he said, smiling into your kiss.
“Hey,” you grinned. You flattened the collar of his shirt where his tattoo peeked from his neck. “You look good.”
He was quick to respond. “You look better.”
“You flatter me,” you chuckled. “Did you pick where we’re eating for dinner later?”
“I made reservations for the seafood restaurant you like so much. The one with the lights by the ocean.”
“Oooo with the parmesan crusted flounder and the stuffed oysters?”
He hummed a yes and laughed as you did a little dance expressing your excitement. You couldn’t wait to stuff your face. While being classy of course.
“What time?”
“6:30. Is that okay?”
“Yeah, that should give ‘Yumi, ShoSho, and I enough time to shop around.” You turned to the mirror to put some last-minute touches to your hair. “We still have to find an outfit for your mother’s event Friday. You know your brother’s a lowkey diva about that stuff so it’s gonna take hours.”
A sudden slap on your ass made you yelp and just as you were about to cuss him out, Natsuo captured your lips in a kiss that made your knees buckle. He slowly explored your mouth, committing every taste to memory. Your hands massaged the nape of his neck and it had him growling in your ear.
“Why don’t you skip the shopping today and we can start on dinner now?” he suggested, loving the moan he got from you as he sucked on your neck.
As much as you adored the offer, you weren’t going to pass up the chance to get out of the house. You’d been cooped up in there for too long. Not even his dick could get you out of this.
You pushed him off of you, laughing as he bit the air between you, trying to put his lips back on you.
“Nat—Natsuo. Stop it. I promised them I’d go shopping today, so no. Besides, I’m already running late. I was supposed to meet them at 1 and it’s 1:30.”
“But you just look so good, baby.” He managed to pull you flush against his chest, mischief in his eyes. You gave him a look when his hands went to go grab a handful of your ass. “I’m sure they won’t mind if you're just an hour more late,” he said, going back to lay claim to your lips.
If last night’s sex was a testament to anything, you’d be here for much longer than an hour. If you didn’t get your ass to the car, you’d be stuck at home and his siblings would have your head.
“Boy, if you don’t get off me, I’ll tell Fuyumi you’re keeping me hostage again. She’ll sick Shouto on you,” you threatened.
At the thought of his sister and brother’s nagging, he rolled his eyes and backed off. “Ugh, you’re such a killjoy. Fine, whatever.” You hummed in triumph and turned to walk away. Natsuo gave another hard slap to your backside again and you sent him back a glare that made him smirk.
“Natsu,” you warned.
“You better get in the car quick before I really decide to keep you here.”
“Keep it in your pants, horndog,” you bit.
“Keep that ass away and we won’t have problems,” he playfully retorted.
You smacked your teeth but hid the growing smile on your lips. That man would be the death of you.
Despite your wishes, you ended up being an hour late. Natsuo tried to play innocent underneath his siblings’ threats but stopped the act once they pointed out the growing hickey on your neck.
He was waved off, much to his chagrin, when he told the three of you to be wary of your surroundings and reminded you of the security guards that would be following close by. He finally left for his meeting with few choice words and a kiss promising his return.
Fuyumi grabbed your arm and gave you a smile that was contagious. “Now that Natsu stopped hogging you, we can finally hang out!” she cheered. “The outlet just opened up a few new stores we’ve been eyeing for a while now!”
Shouto nodded in agreement. “I’ve been waiting all week to use my father’s credit card.”
“Didn’t you buy a fur coat yesterday—”
“That’s besides the point.”
Once Shouto took your other arm, the three of you spent your time going from store to store. At first, the objective was to find outfits for the party Friday, however you three had become easily distracted with the sight of a smoothie stand.
A couple hours had gone by, and not much was done. Although you might have wasted time (and money) shopping at miscellaneous stores, neither one of you cared.
It had been so long since you laughed so freely. With Endeavor across the ocean, things were steadily heating up. Enemies took his leave as an open shot and the Todoroki siblings were obliged to reinforce why their family reigned supreme. Due to that, it seemed no one could go a day without stressing over something.
Between that and Natsuo’s near-obsessive mission to keep you safe and away from the details of the yakuza, you were forced to stay in the house twiddling your thumbs with constant security around you.
Feeling so useless drove you crazy. No matter how many times you tried to get your fiancé to let you help, he would always give you a firm no. Fuyumi and Shouto tried their best to keep you out of it as well. Even Dabi warned you about wanting something so dangerous.
It was frustrating, but you tried to understand. Regardless, having the chance to hang out with your friends like old times was a saving grace and you’d enjoy it to its fullest.
Eventually, you three made it to the boutiques and clothing departments. Shouto had already gotten a suit tailored so it was left with you and Fuyumi.
Your soon-to-be sister-in-law found an extravagant gown that stole your breath. The crimson dress hugged her body in all the right places, accentuating the softness of her feminine figure and the coolness of her kind eyes. It was beautifully bold statement speaking to the fire within Fuyumi many seemed to miss. But no one would overlook that spirit with a dress like that. Her measurements were taken, and the dress was quickly swiped off the rack and sent to the tailor.
Your clothing didn’t come easy. Fuyumi was indecisive and Shouto was a harsh critic.
“Hmm, that one’s too much.”
“Nope, not enough.”
“Too loose.”
“Too tight.”
“No.”
“Hell no.”
“I’m pretty sure someone from the Nanu family wore that in 2016. Next.”
It had taken nearly an entire hour before the three of you found your outfit. Something that had caught your eye was soon being shimmied over your body. When you stepped out of the dressing room, you were relieved when Fuyumi nearly cried and Shouto’s bi-colored eyes twinkled with satisfaction. The material was comfortable on your body and the pigment made your skin color brilliantly glow. It moved and swayed like it was meant for you. It just felt right.
“That’s the one,” Shouto smiled.
“You think so?” you asked, checking over the detailing.
“You’re going to steal the show, as always, Y/N,” Fuyumi gushed. “The most beautiful Onna-Oyabun* the yakuza have seen this generation.”
At the mention of the word, you casted your eyes downward. “Right. I’m going to be the new Onna-Oyabun,” you sighed.
The two Todorokis caught the heaviness of your tone and looked at one another in sadness. They were privy to the burdens of this family and the titles that came along with it. Your reaction wasn’t abnormal, but the despondent gleam in your eyes was still hard to sit with.
“Y/N—”
The sound of Shouto’s phone cut off his words. As he listened to the quiet words from the other line, his eyes began to harden. The store clerk kept you busy, but Fuyumi noticed his sudden rigidness.
Her brother’s eyes flicked towards the door and she caught the sight of more their bodyguards surrounding the boutique, hands on their weapons.
There were a few more words said before Shouto spoke.
“Anata wa mōru o torikakonde imasu. Natsuo wa 5-bu de soto de aimasu.” (Keep the mall surrounded. Natsuo will meet us outside in five minutes.)
Fuyumi met her brother’s eyes once more and understood the situation.
“So, the seamstress said she’ll tighten around the waist and add more fabric to the end. It’ll be ready by tomorrow evening,” you said to them.
Shouto excused himself while Fuyumi walked towards you, a practiced smile on her lips.
“Perfect. Now let’s get you changed and out for your date. Natsuo will be here any minute.”
The car ride to the restaurant was filled with your rambling about the day and Natsuo’s usual teasing. When he got into the car after speaking with his siblings, he seemed very tense. So you were happy you were able to get him to relax. Work must’ve put him on edge, and you were determined to let the rest of your night come stress free.
When you got there, he helped you out of the car and you made your way to the door. You were surprised to see who was standing by the entrance.
“Dabi?”
“Hey there, doll,” he said behind an easy smirk. He kissed the back of your hand. “Still see you’re with this punk. Tragic.”
You tried to hide your giggle as Natsuo punched his brother’s shoulder.
“Back off, brick-face. Lookin’ like a burnt raisin.”
“You wound me,” Dabi faux gasped.
“What are you doing here?” you asked.
Although Dabi kept his eyes on you, he felt his brother’s stare on his face.
“Just doing some patrol. Heard you were coming around and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to say hi to my new favorite Todoroki,” he responded coolly.
You quirked your brow at that. “Did something happen?”
Dabi opened the door. “Nah, nothing you need to worry about. You just enjoy your dinner for me, yeah?”
Before you could say anything more, you felt the man behind you place his hand on your lower back and guide you into the restaurant. You didn’t miss the order he hissed to his brother before closing the door behind him.
You had to learn Japanese one of these days, damn it.
As you stood in line to be seated, you eyed your fiancé.
“I know something’s going on,” you spoke.
Natsuo didn’t even flinch. “What do you mean?”
“Why’s Dabi here?”
“You heard what he said. For patrol.”
“Patrol for what? He doesn’t just police the area for no reason.”
“It was just on some small case we’ve been working on. No biggie,” he shrugged.
You frowned at his play of innocence. You were getting kind of tired of this. “You know how much I hate being kept in the dark…”
“It’s nothing you have to concern yourself with, babe. I’ve got it handled.”
“Natsuo—”
“Y/N, please.”
You watched his shoulders sag a bit from the heavy sigh that left his mouth. If you hadn’t been watching, you would’ve missed the fatigue that flashed across his face. To see someone usually so upbeat look so tired made your chest ache.
You knew you were being pushy, but all the secrets were piling up and your curiosity was starting to become insatiable.
“I…I just want to help,” you softly admitted. “I don’t mean to be annoying.”
“You’re not being annoying,” he answered in a heartbeat. Natsuo pulled you close and kissed your temple, feeling comforted by your smell. “I know all these secrets drive you crazy, but I’m trying to protect you.”
You placed a hand on his cheek to which he placed a kiss to your palm. “And I want to lessen your burden. We’re in this together, baby. You don’t have to handle all of this alone anymore.”
“I know, sweetheart,” he whispered. He stared into your eyes for a moment before gently smiling down at your hopeful gaze. “How ‘bout this? We forget about all this yakuza stuff whiles we’re here, and as soon as we get home, I’ll fill you in on my meeting today. Sound fair?”
It wasn’t exactly what you wanted, but it was a step in the right direction. Besides, you could see how eager he was to forget about the topic. The focus of this night was about having fun, so you would drop it for now.
You pecked his lips and nodded in agreement. “Deal.”
“Bet.”
The hostess met you two just as you pulled away from one another. She led you to your table where you had a clear view of the beach behind the crystal glass. Your waitress, an older woman with a smile that felt safe, got you settled in.
“My name is Jane and I’ll be serving you today. May I get your drinks?”
Natsuo looked to you. “Wine?”
You made a thoughtful face. “Yeah. Sure. Something on the sweeter side.”
“Bring us Moet Chandon Dom Perignon. 2008.”
“Yes, sir,” she bowed before going to retrieve the drinks.
You frowned in confusion, the bran unknown to you. That was before your eyes scanned over the wine listing. You choked on your spit.
That bottle could pay rent.
Rich people were crazy.
“Everything okay?”
“Yeah, sorry. Something in my throat,” you coughed.
After the waitress brought your drinks and you placed your orders (you both ordered enough for eight but what’s new?), you and Natsuo spent your time talking and laughing.
It was like old times. He was the jokester, throwing out horrible pick-up lines with a terrible pun to match. You’d tease him, snickering when he’d whine about how sensitive he was.
You missed this. A lot.
Your previous grievances left your mind. Like he said, for now, you’d forget about the yakuza. The carefree smile on your fiancé’s face, the one that reminded of you of just how young he really was, was beautiful. He was only 23 and dealing with so much. You wanted this expression of freedom to remain for as long as possible.
“The ‘Saw’ series wasn’t even that scary. It was just really gross,” you said.
“Fair. But the one with the teeth was kinda scary. Saw 3 I think? I couldn’t sleep for like, five days,” Natsuo shivered.
“Okay, yeah. That one was…ew,” you agreed. “But remember ‘The Human Centipede’? Now that was some creepy shit. I couldn’t eat cereal for a month.”
Natsuo visibly paled, sticking his tongue out in disgust. “Nah for real, bro. I’ll never watch that shit again. I feel like it was some big, grotesque, sexual innuendo.”
You gave him a flat look.
“What the fuck, Natsu.”
“No, listen! Remember the part where they took the hammer and—"
“Your food, Mr. Todoroki and Mr/s. L/N,” Jane interrupted. A questioning look flashed across her face but you two just stifled your laughs.
The other waiters laughed as they stood behind her with the food in their hands.
You were eyeing the hell out of those oysters.
“Here we have the lobster bisque, the shrimp tacos, the stuffed oysters—”
“I’ll take that one, please!” you excitedly clapped.
“Excellent choice.”
“And you say I’m a child,” Natsuo snorted.
You threw a glare his way. “Little boy, if you don’t—”
And just as your day had been filled with laughter, the sound of one bullet tore through that illusion.
It was as if the world had stilled for a moment. Then, there was screaming and the onslaught of gunpower. There were so many men in dignified suits running in and out of the restaurant. You hadn’t even blinked before two waiters dropped to the ground, piled beneath the food they were holding.
Two shots rang near your table, and you felt a string of fresh blood paint the sides of your face and a burning sensation on your left ear. Two hands held the table and the back of your chair, body a shield from the bullets.
You slowly looked up and saw Jane’s bright blue eyes wide with surprise. There was a moment of silence as her bottom lip wavered, wanting to say something.
However, her last breath slipped through her lips as you watched the life dull in her cerulean irises.
That bullet was meant for you. That bullet was meant to kill you and instead…instead…
When she fell onto you, dead, that’s when you screamed.
At some point, Natsuo had gotten you into his arms. His body was ice cold as he used his quirk to protect you and carry you out. He was shouting orders and curses while trying to coax you out of your numbness. However, you couldn’t hear anything.
The stench of blood was strong. You saw how the bodies of innocent men, women, and children laid piled on the floor. They bled out; their lives taken from them before they even had the chance to think about it.
You closed your eyes when you saw blue and red flames lick the ground. You had seen enough.
Somehow, you had gotten outside and away from the warzone. Natsuo carried you into the car.
“Doraibu!” he thundered. (Drive!)
The driver took off with speed that made our backs hit the seats. Once he hit the main streets, miles away from the scene, Natsuo took his hand off the gun and quelled his quirk.
His phone lit up and it wasn’t long before he blew up at whoever was on the other end. You don’t think you’ve ever heard him use a tone so mean and angry. He roared into the phone, his words foreign to your ears. However, you couldn’t concentrate on that.
The shock of what just occurred struck your body numb. The ringing in your ears hadn’t stopped since the first bullet. You could still smell the blood and the bodies. Jane’s lifeless eyes would haunt you forever.
The same bullet that tore into her heart was meant for you. Whoever shot that, was aiming to kill. Kill you. But instead, Jane had taken that place. For what reason, you didn’t know. But she did.
You didn’t know which one was worse.
Bile rose in the back of your throat and you let out a shaky breath.
You could do nothing else but hold your head.
Natsuo had gotten off the phone and looked over at you in silence. His grey eyes stormed with pain from the way your shoulders hunched over in grief.
He reached for you. “Y/N, sweetheart—”
You flinched away as his fingertips ghosted your skin.
“Don’t fucking touch me,” you seethed.
He quickly withdrew his hands.
“Are…are you okay?” he slowly spoke.
The glare you gave him made him avert his eyes in anguish.
“Am I okay? You’re asking me if I’m okay!?”
“I just want to make sure you’re not hurt,” he thickly swallowed.
“Are you serious, Natsuo!? I just saw twenty people die in front of me and you’re asking if I’m okay!??”
Guilt drowned him, but you just couldn’t seem to care at the moment as rage took over your body.
“I asked you to tell me what was going on. I’ve been fucking begging you to keep me up to date so I can just be prepared for when things like this happen!”
“I know.”
“If I had just known someone was trying to take me out, I would’ve stayed the fuck home, but you wouldn’t tell me and now there’s people DEAD!!”
“I know. I’m sorry, Y/N.”
“Fuck your sorry!” you roared. “Fuck you, Natsuo! Sorry won’t bring those people back!”
Your voice was beginning to grow hoarse but screaming felt good. It was the only thing that felt real even as it took you to hysteria.
“I know those bullets were meant for me! They wanted to—to—oh my God!” Your breathig grew erratic as it all dawned on you. “I’m supposed to be dead! They wanted to kill me! I can’t! I can’t do this!”
Natsuo felt his heart break with every sob that ripped from your mouth. He wanted so badly to hold you and take you away from all of this. However, he knew better.
For the entire car ride and throughout the time it took for the nurses to patch you up, you hadn’t allowed him to touch you. You even ignored him until he was forced to leave you to rest.
When he told you he loved you, it hurt like hell to see you wordlessly disappear behind the bedroom door. That pain was what later fueled him back to the scene of the crime and into doing things to the captured enemies he would never utter to anyone that wasn’t there.
Fuyumi and Shouto couldn’t look him in his eyes for the rest of the day. It was Dabi, as heartless as he was, that told him it was enough.
He would give anything to give you what you deserved, a life without pain and death. But that’s not how it worked. Not in this life.
He knew that, yet, he had been selfish and took you for himself. Now, this was the result. Your life in unremitting danger because of who he was.
The agonized screams of dry ice burning away flesh constantly played in his head. It only seemed more prevalent, now more than ever, that people like him didn’t deserve people like you.
[Present]
Natsuo’s heavy stare caused you to shift. As he changed into pajamas, you looked at the clock. It was 2am.
You hadn’t realized it was so late.
You felt a heavy dip in the bed and watched your fiancé carefully settle into the sheets. His face was clean of blood and dirt, so he must've showered before coming back home.
A pregnant pause filtered between you two. As you continued to stare at one another, you could see his façade slip with each passing second. The blank front he was so skilled at putting up melted as his eyes continued to pass over the bandages. His eyes sunk and the skin around them was dark with wear. He looked exhausted.
The anger that had once bristled inside of you had given way to melancholy a long time ago. You felt so empty and lonely with the dark thoughts that circled in your head. Sleep wasn’t an option if you wanted to avoid the nightmares that would plague you.
The two of you scooted closer to one another. Natsuo was the first to speak. He spoke in a voice so small, you almost missed it.
“Can I touch you?”
“Please,” you whispered.
Soon enough, you were in his arms, chin on his shoulder as he peppered the junction between your neck and collarbone with kisses. You relished in his hands exploring your body, missing how he just seemed to swallow you up.
“I love you, Y/N,” he breathed.
“I love you too, Natsuo.”
Much of the night was spent reminding yourselves of the other’s touch. Natsuo drew your lips captive, his tongue overtaking you with dizzying pleasure. You couldn’t keep track of where his mouth was. Whether it was on your lips, on your stomach, or in between your legs, you savored how good it felt.
Soon, his low growls and moans were hot against your ears. Your nails ran down Natsuo’s back as his hips swam into you, taking his time to rememorize how you felt around him. The bed creaked along with your moans. You threw your head back and gripped whatever you could hold of him during your lovemaking.
It seemed you’d reach your high over and over again. You could never get enough of each other. There was something intoxicating about how his tongue would roll over yours as he pounded into you, staking claim over your body as he gave himself to you until he couldn’t.
When your bodies couldn’t go any longer, you just lied underneath the sheets. Natsuo lied on top of you, head on your chest and listened to your heartbeat. You pushed back his sweaty bangs, staring down at him.
You hadn’t even realized you were crying until his thumbs went to swipe past your cheeks.
“Damn it,” you hiccupped.
Natsuo let his vulnerability slip. “I know they’re just words, but I’m so sorry, Y/N,” he said. His voice cracked and it was your turn to catch the tears that fell from his eyes.
“I know. I’m sorry too.”
“You have nothing to apologize for.”
“No, I shouldn’t have yelled at you like that. I was just…”
“Just what?”
A fresh wave of images from today filled the forefront of your mind. Those pictures did something to you. A switch was flicked.
Your voice caught in your throat and your eyes pinched as more tears filled them. However, these were not tears of fright, rather tears of animosity. The anger you thought had left you had turned into something worse. Something much darker.
Natsuo saw that look many times before in his own reflection. Vengeance. Pure, unadulterated, vengeance. And as much as he hated it, it was the gas that incited his own flame.
“Natsuo,” you spoke like you were about to tell a secret. You slowly swallowed the ball in your throat.
“What is it, baby? Tell me what it is you want.”
The words that left your mouth felt different, but you would never regret them.
“Whoever it was, whoever was behind this, I want them gone,” you instructed, voice stone cold. “For every child lost, I want ten of their heads. For all our men they took, I want their bodies burned. For the life they took from Jane, I want their blood on the street. Today, they took their stance when they tried to kill me.”
You held his face and fell into his gaze with hard eyes. In those grey irises, you saw a man that would stand against an army for you. It gave you the courage to say your order.
“And for that, I want the entire yakuza dead.”
The glint in his eye matched your own and you knew there was no turning back. Natsuo nodded without a second thought. There was nothing to think about. He’d give you the entire world or burn it down at the flick of your hand.
“Yes, my Onna-Oyabun. Your wish is my command.”
He sealed the deal with a kiss.
“This is war.”

"Taking care of you is a nightmare" Y/n grumbled as we strolled into Dale's market.
I shrugged, thanking very much being out of Erebor with her. "Could be worse."
"Oh really?"
"It could be Kíli instead of me."
"Oh Mahal" she snorted, shaking her head, "I would have never volunteered for that."
"Wait—" I turned to her with a mix of confusion, shock and excitement in my gaze "you volunteered?"
She snorted. "How did you think this happened?"
"Because I might have chosen you." I responded seemingly distracted by a piece of clothing on display.
"Why would you do that?" She inquired, extending her arm to move someone rather suspicious out of my way.
"I wanted to spend more time with the most beautiful knight in the guard." I half-confessed, stopping by a dresses' stall.
"Making her life impossible?"
"Making sure she has fun." I went over the silky gowns tracing them with my fingertips. "Do you like any?"
"Fíli," she grasped my bicep and jerked me back to look at her, her eyes piercing my soul. "someone is trying to kill you, I am certainly not having fun."
"Loosen up, we are safe here." My attention came back to the dresses. "This one would look tremendous on you." I continued, picking up a iridescent green gown for her to see.
It was received with a tired sigh. "do you realize it is not true? We are not safe outside the Mountain where—"
"That's exactly why we are safe— how much is this?" I asked, ignoring Y/n's exasperated huff. "Everyone knows I am not allowed outside." I grabbed a few coins from one of my pockets and handed them to the tradesperson in exchange of the dress.
"That's why you will get me in trouble." She pointed out, following my lead when I resumed our walk, now with the dress. "If the king finds out we are here he will end me."
"Y/n," I stepped on her way, walking backwards so I could look at her whilst moving. "Do you really think I would let my uncle punish you for my actions?"
"You're my responsibility." She circled me with intent eyes. "It's on me if something happens to you." Looking at her y/e/c eyes, I then started to get a guilty feeling. Y/n was right, no matter how many times I would tell Thorin this was not her fault, she would be the one to blame. "Why that face?"
"I no longer feel like staying out of Erebor." I held her hand and guided her down the slopes that comformed the City of Dale, in the direction of the entrance.
"Such an impromptu change of mind." She teased, "You're tired already?"
"Yes, very much." I contributed to the obviously wrong statement. "I think we should go back to bed and cuddle a bit more, huh?"
She snorted. "Don't push your luck."
"C'mon, I'm obeying," I whined as we were about to exit the city. "Indulge me?"
"I indulged you last night."
"Then indulge yourself." She stopped dead in her trucks, refraining me from walking in the process since we were still holding hands.
Here eyes were screaming at me, but her lips did not part, at least not immediately; and when they did, she just said, "no."
"Y/n—"
"We talked about this." "I can't—"
"Why not?"
"Because! you're a prince and I'm a guard."
"First of all you're a captain of the royal guard," she rolled her eyes at me "second of all, Kíli and Tauriel—"
"The sole reason for your uncle to consent that was that Kíli is a second prince," my eyes dodged hers. "you're his heir."
"I don't care."
"Well you should! You should care about a lot of things that, despite your lack of interest, are important!" We were now attracting attention that we certainly did not need; that brought Y/n composure back. "Let's go home and pray for this not to reach your uncle's ears."
"I'm sorry."
"It's alright, let's just go." My eyes lingered on our interlaced fingers; Y/n squeezed my hand and I looked up to see her bittersweet smile, which I ended up mirroring.
All from sudden, Y/n's orbs screamed panic.
Before I could put myself on guard, she tugged me back and stepped in front of me, taking her hand to her sword and giving me enough time to get my blade out.
In a swift movement I slayed the person that had attempted to kill me, triggering gasps and squeals from the people around us. It took me a hot second to realize that Y/n's digits were digging on my arm.
"Y/n?" Confusion was soon followed by terror when the only response I obtained was a ragged breath. "Y/n!" My voice shifted to a desperate cry when her legs gave in and we both fell on our knees.
READER'S P. O. V.
"T-tell me you got them." I felt his hands frantically wander over my torso to find the wound; it was impossible for him to see it without moving me, since I felt my body basically collapsing against his. "I-If I die— Fíli..." I love you, I wanted to say. My fingers gripped the collar of his shirt for dear life until I had no strength to do it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
My abdomen hurt madly when I recovered my conscience, but it was good, I was alive.
I however struggled to find the will to take a peek at my surroundings. My eyes briefly opened and I saw Fíli sat besides me, holding my hand in both of his, his lips pressed against my knuckles whilst muttering some unintelligible words.
Before I could call his name, my eyelids began to feel too heavy to keep them parted, and before I knew it, I was asleep again.
When I woke up again, I was told I had remained in Dale, at Bard's home; I was informed that the foe had been slayed, and the threat's case solved.
The only thing I wished to do was talk to Fíli, but the prince was nowhere to be found.
After approximately a week of rest in the humans' metropoli, I was taken to Erebor.
Once there I looked for the blond-haired dwarf again, but the only thing I could find was the dress Fíli had bought for me, resting neatly folded on top of my bed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had been endeavouring to stay distracted or busy at all times in order to stop my mind from musing on the older prince.
To either our luck or our dismay, we found each other in one of the vast halls of the mountain, walking in opposite directions.
His eyes were first of surprise, then of panic, and lastly, of pain.
I could almost feel his desperate need to turn around and run back to where he had come from, but he probably realized that wouldn't spare him from this.
"You can walk." He awkwardly observed. "Are you recovered?"
"Not entirely," I decided to keep up with the small chat since I couldn't find the words to express what I wanted. "I can't reincorporate to the guard yet."
He nodded. "I figured." His eyes flickered to mines for a second before fixing on the ground. "I should go—"
"Why are you avoiding me?" My question was loud and clear; before he could come up with something, I spoke again. "What happened was not your fault, Fíli." He shook his head no. "I understand that you feel guilty, but you have no reason to do so. My duty was to protect you and I did."
"I..." With a deep breath, he found the strength to reply. "I cannot tell you how sorry I am." He finally looked at me, and I soon picked up on his welled eyes. "had I only listened to you..." I nervously shifted my weight from one foot to another. "I tried visiting you but I just— I couldn't look at you without—" his voice cracked, making me feel a pang on my chest.
Surprising us both, I strode across the hall and enclosed him in my arms, which he eagerly accepted. "Please do not avoid me." I whispered on his ear. "I can't stand it."
There was a moment of silence before he gathered the courage to ask what he had wanted to ask since I first opened my eyes.
"Did you mean it?" My confusion was visible when he pulled apart to look at my eyes, trying to hold himself together. "That... That you love me. Did you mean it?" My face burned as if I was mad red, but it was quite the opposite. "You look livid." He was quick to guide me to a stone bench near us.
"No, I'm-" he sat me down and kneeled in front of me "I'm fine." My head was spinning. I had actually said that out loud. "Fíli, listen," I took a deep breath. "I thought I was going to die I-"
"I am asking you" it dawned on me that his hands were grasping mine as if I would slip away if he didn't do so, "if you meant it. Did you?"
"It doesn't matter."
"I love you." His statement was so clear, so overwhelming, that my eyes started to water. "And you're wrong, I acknowledge the importance of my duties; despite my words I know what I owe to this kingdom, but my mother taught me that my heart comes first." I tried blinking the tears away, "That means that my love for you comes first. So when I tell you— Y/n look at me—" he propped himself slightly to meet my gaze again. "That being the heir is not an obstacle for us, believe me, for it is not."
He awaited for my answer wearing his heart his sleeve, but I felt like I would break down to tears if I attempted to articulate one single word, so instead of giving him a reply, I leaned down and kiss him passionately.
He tugged me down with him and embraced me, returning the kiss with the same enthusiasm I had put on it.
"Had I known this is all it took to gain your favour," he teased with a grin, pulling away just enough for us to breath.
"You wouldn't have been hiding from me like a coward?" I finished with my forehead resting against his.
"Probably." He confirmed, leaning on to resume the kiss he had stopped.

ssa hotchner: chapter 2 - one week

series masterlist
---------------------------------------------
you woke up to the bright sun peeking in through your window past the hills, shining brightly into your eyes. you sat up, and rubbed your eyes in attempt to wake yourself up even more. you looked over at your clock to see the tie was already half past 6 a.m.
you didn't have to go to work for the first time in what felt like forever. trudging out of bed, you made your way into your bathroom and started the hot water.
the cut on your face looks exponentially better than it did last night. the handprint's swelling on your face had gone down quite a bit, but the bruise on your arm was definitely still there.
you brushed your teeth while you waited on the water to warm up. once the shower was ready, you shed your clothes and hopped inside. you took your time, letting the events of last night try to sink into your mind.
after you finished up, you used a towel to dry your hair a bit and got dressed in some leggings and a large t-shirt. you figured you might as well be comfortable if you didn't have anything else to do.
going back into your living room you decided to read the note that was taped to your gate. you pulled the bin out, followed by the shoe box, followed by the note.
you've been receiving them for close to 7 years now, ever since that high profile case you did for the bau. honestly, there was no telling if the letters were from more than one person. they are all typed and printed out.
at first they were all 'thank yous' for putting away a serial killer, but then came the anniversary of him being in prison... and people got a bit angry. then, people who were grateful for you putting him away forgot about it, as they should since they have lives of their own, and all that was left were the people who were angry.
the people who would wish you were dead. the people who think you should be inside there with the other killers. the people who were upset about you putting their 'true love' away for good. those were the people you were scared of.
the people that knew your address.
the people that sent you death threats.
those were the terrifying ones. the ones that kept you up at night, looking out of your window, trying to see if anyone was truly out there. nobody ever was. logically, you knew that nobody was out there lurking.
but if you told big bro, he would go all fbi on the letters. he would try to figure out who sent them, and send them to jail themselves. you didn't know if they were truly a threat, so what's the point in poking the bear? if they got too terrible, you would tell him. maybe...
you son of a bitch. you should've been his last victim so you wouldn't be here and he would be. you're nothing but a manipulative little bitch.
you don't deserve anything you have handed to you.
go die, bastard.
you folded it back up and placed it in the box, the bin, then pushed it underneath the couch.
were you worried? of course. would you tell anyone? not yet. if your fear became unmanageable, you would let someone know.
the only problem with the notes is that there was no return address. you put up security cameras everywhere around your gate in hopes of catching the culprit(s) on video, but sadly they were able to hack into the cameras you had gotten.
you would check the video footage after you received a note or picture. the time stamp went from 8:54 to 9:03, meaning they probably hacked into it before they got there.
maybe garcia could find whoever hacked into it every night if you needed her to. surely she would be able to work her magic when necessary.
you went into your room to check your phone for any new messages.
a <3: what're you doing for lunch today? feel up to spending time together two days in a row? let me know whenever you can; there's no case today.
you: i don't have any plans at all today, i guess i'll just have to suffer through another lunch with you.
and... sent.
unknown number: hi, y/n. it's spencer. i just wanted to know how're you doing? is the cut on your face okay?
you: hey back genius :) i'm doing pretty well, all things considered. my face is looking much better than it was before i went to bed, thank you for asking.
send.
while waiting for a response, you decided to clean the house a bit. you vacuumed your rugs, washed the dishes in your sink, did your laundry, and that was pretty much all you had to do today. everything done before 10 a.m.
checking your phone, there were two more messages, one from each of the guys.
a <3: great! would you mind just meeting me at the office around 11:30?
you: that's no problem at all. any place in mind?
you checked the other message from spencer.
spencer :) : i'm glad you're doing well, y/n. and to clear things up, your face didn't look bad at all last night, bruise and cut included.
what a little charmer...
you: thanks for the clarity, it's very appreciated. so how've you been since last night? save any other damsels in distress?
you put your phone down and decided to start getting ready. you opted for some blue jeans, high rise, and a lavender halter top. you paired that with some white high-top converse and threw on your gray blazer spencer brought you from last night, after you retrieved it from the dryer.
wearing something so casual, you decided to just wear your natural hair to the office. you did, however, need to cover the remnants of your adventure last night so aaron wouldn't be upset upon seeing something.
you used some good ol' color corrector, concealer, a bit of foundation, and some powder to cover the bruises and fail to disguise the cut. then again, there's not much that can be done to cover that up.
you checked the time on your phone, 10:53, and saw two more message notifications.
a <3: i was thinking about ordering some mexican food to the office so we could just stay there.
you: i'm good with anything, so that sounds great! i'll see you soon.
you sent the message and hopped over to the one spencer had sent you.
spencer :) : sadly, no other damsels. although i suppose that could be considered a good thing to most. oh! and if you were wondering, i got your number from garcia. i wasn't stalking you or anything, no worries.
you: yes, i'm glad i was the only damsel in need of saving last night. also, if i were to find out you had been stalking me, i don't think i'd be afraid. in fact, i'd probably be more flattered that THE dr. spencer reid would consider me stalk-worthy.
was it flirtatious? yes. would it make him flustered? probably. would i enjoy being the person that flustered him? absolutely.
sent.
you got into your car and began the journey to quantico. the drive isn't very long, only about twenty minutes. you hopped out of the car, and made your way to the front desk to check in. looking over your shoulder, you saw none other than spencer reid walking up to you before the woman gave you your visitor's badge.
"hi there, damsel," spencer smiled as he greeted you. you walked closer to him after thanking the lady.
"hey, hero," you laughed as you both got closer. "is it too soon to hug you?"
"oh, uhm... not at all. i was actually-yes. i do want to- i'm just gonna..." he stuttered as he opened his arms for you to snuggle into.
"i like your hugs," you surprisingly announced.
"th-thank you," he smiled as he rested his chin on your head, secretly enjoying the coconutty scent that wafted off your hair into his nose.
"yea this is gonna be the new greeting tactic for us. just saying," you huffed into his chest.
"i wouldn't mind that at all," he laughed before you pulled back from his embrace, giving his shoulders a little squeeze before relinquishing all contact.
"okay, i'm here to see aaron. i'm assuming he's in his office, like always?" you rose one eyebrow in question before feeling a hand on your shoulder, turning to see aaron.
"i'm not always in my office," he rebutted as he embraced you in his arms. "how are you?" he asked nicely.
"i'm good! i hope you aren't overworking yourself like you usually tend to do," you voiced into his chest. he pulled back, not releasing your shoulders but looking deeply at your face.
"what's that?" he pointed to your cheekbone, his brows furrowing in concentration.
"oh, pshh. it's nothing," you shrugged as you waved his hand off, noticing spencer behind aaron with a look on his face that suggested you tell your brother what it was.
"y/n. what happened?" he pushed, giving you his 'brother' look.
"fine," you huffed. "i was gonna have to explain it eventually," you rolled your eyes. "last night before i left, ron got a bit handsy. before he did too much, spencer showed up to return my jacket. things got out of hand, ron might've slapped me, spencer might've pushed him against a wall, all's well that ends well," you grinned in hopes that he wouldn't have understood a word you just uttered.
"ron slapped you?" he asked in disbelief, his face still showing no emotion as per usual.
"yea, but spencer stopped him before he got to do anything else. oh! i don't have a job at all anymore, so i'm free for the next two weeks," you pressed your lips together.
"reid was there?" he turned to face spencer, who's face looked like a deer in the headlights.
"yup. i don't know what would've happened if he didn't show up. i really owe him, aaron," you said, trying to calm your brother down from the edge he was not-so-clearly teetering on.
"well, reid. uhh, thank you. and y/n. you should've told me this the second it happened," he ordered, looking at you shooting daggers.
"sir, yes, sir," you nodded off. "i'm sorry i didn't tell you. i just knew you'd be upset and i figured since everything's okay now that it wasn't important," you shrugged, trying to diffuse the situation.
"it is important. it will always be important because you're important to me," he emphasized before taking a deep breath. "as long as you'll tell me next time i think i'll be okay."
"great! now when's the food supposed to get here because... food," you excitedly asked as you followed aaron as he turned to go to his office.
"it'll be here in about 10 more minutes," he announced as he motioned for her to sit beside him in the chairs in front of his desk. "so... what's the full story of what happened?"
"are we really gonna talk about that right now?" you huffed, clearly over the situation from last night.
"yes. we are. harassment is a serious issue that should be dealt with accordingly. you know that, y/n," he reasoned, propping his arm on his desk as he looked at you with his stern face.
"i do know that. i also know that he only ever did that to me. he has a wife and two kids; he'd never do anything to put them in jeopardy," you announced, trying to convince aaron not to press the issue any further.
"but he would be willing to risk a law suit from you because of what happened?" he questioned in defiance, not accepting the ask to drop it.
"i wouldn't give him a law suit, aaron. you know that," you remarked, leaning in towards him slightly.
"you should. logically, you should sue him for hitting you. and i'm assuming for whatever else he's done to you in the past," he corrected you.
"how do you know he's done anything in the past?" you questioned, aaron nodding his head to the side. "right. profiler," you sighed. "look, he used to call me names i'm uncomfortable with, but now i won't have to deal with him. i don't work there anymore and never will again."
"you may not work there, but what if another woman starts working in the office? who's to say he won't harass them as well?" you looked down into your lap, fondling your fingers in avoidance. "look, i'm not trying to be rude about it. i just don't like seeing you hurt, and to know that the guy who hurt you isn't getting anything done to him is ludicrous."
"i know. you've always looked out for me since we were kids, but i'm not a kid anymore. i'm a grown woman and can take care of my own business when i need to," you replied softly, placing your hand over top aaron's in comfort. "but thank you, for always caring. i know you do it because you love me, even though you don't say it often," you laughed, trying to bring some light hearted-ness to the situation.
"i do..." he nodded along. "love you, that is," he added with a rare smile.
aaron has always been there for you. ever since you were kids, because of you dad he would take the role of protector for both you, sean, and your mom.
because of his role of 'protector,' he has this external shell that he feels as though he can't shed. in his mind, if he sheds it he's not able to mask his feelings, leaving not only himself but also those he protects vulnerable.
"i love you too, a.," you smiled back, giving his hand a gentle squeeze before releasing it from your grip. aaron took his phone and checked the time.
"the food's here now," he announced as he went to go pick it up from the front desk.
when he returned he gave you the food and you began to eat together, him telling you the latest garcia story that got quite the kick out of you until his attention went elsewhere.
"... so...?" aaron asked sneakily, a sly grin appearing on his face.
"... so what?" you furrowed your brows in question as you took a sip of your drink.
"you and reid, huh?" he widened his eyes in suspicion.
"what about me and reid?" you wanted to press him further, even though you knew exactly what he meant.
"that's exactly what i would like to know. what's going on with you and reid?" he finalized, pointing his fork accusingly at you.
"nothings going on with me and spencer," you raised your hands in defense. "i just drove him home after he intervened in the... situation, last night so i made sure to thank him. he texted me earlier today to ask me how i was holding up after yesterday evening- like a gentleman," you pointed out, raising your eyebrows to establish some sort of dominance you knew you didn't have over your brother.
"right," he said in a sing-song voice, you rolled your eyes at his tone.
"shut up," you scoffed as you threw away each of yours' trash. "so, i think it's time for me to go," you smiled as you turned to face aaron from the doorway.
"ahh, right," he sighed with a small grin. "i actually talked to strauss about getting you onto the team," he raised his eyebrows.
"did you, now?" you smirked. "what'd she say about it?"
"she said that you'd need to fill out an application, and that if you were to be hired there'd be a trial run first to see if everything would work out smoothly," he announced happily.
"really? so there's a chance i could work here?!" you squealed, rubbing your lips into a tight line from the excitement.
"a pretty good one, at that. i actually have an application right," he reached over his desk to retrieve a couple pages stapled together, "here," he smiled, handing you the application forms.
"oh my gosh!" you shouted, throwing your arms over your brother's stomach and squeezing him tightly. "this is so exciting! do you think i'm actually qualified?" you asked, pulling back from his embrace.
"are you kidding? of course you are?" he asked incredulously. "just fill those out, return them to strauss, and i'm sure she'll review them quickly," he nodded.
"right. i'll get going now," you smiled widely. "thank you, a. thank you so much," you said, giving him one last hug before you whooshed out of the door, papers in hand.
you walked down the stairs and out of the glass doors towards the elevator. the doors started to close after you pressed the 'lobby' button, but there was a brown satchel stuffed between them to stop the from closing right before they shut. once thy opened back up, you noticed who the bag belonged to.
"hey, spencer," you smiled, scooting over in the elevator to make more room for him.
"hey, y/n. how was your lunch?" he asked, returning your smile.
"it was pretty good. aaron gave me an application for the bau, which is very exciting," you bit back a wide grin.
"really?" he asked happily, his eyebrows raised, you nodded in return. "that's so great!" he said cheerily, wrapping his arms around your waist an lifting you off the elevator floor as the two of you giggled together.
"i know! if i'm being honest, i'm a bit nervous about it, y'know?" you said as he placed you back onto your feet, your hands still on his biceps.
"why? we already know you'll fit in well and do great. what's making you nervous?" he asked, his head tilting slightly as he looked at you with a confused expression.
"i don't know..." you started. "i guess since i've only worked at one job, doing one thing, moving nowhere, staying stagnant, i just don't know anything else," you shrugged.
"it's actually incredibly normal to feel nervous about a new job. over 80% of working professionals feel nervous or anxious when starting a new job," he clarified as the elevator doors opened, you both walking out together. "think of it this way: you know the material, you're more than qualified, you know everyone you'd be working with, and you're passionate about what you'll be doing. there's no doubt that you'll do amazing," he encouraged as you continued the walk to your car.
"thank you. at least i know i'm not the only one that gets this way," you sighed. "so why'd you walk all the way out here?" you giggled. "don't you still have work?"
"uhh, yes. i-i do have to work. i just f-figured- i just wanted to uh, talk to you?" he stuttered out, clearly not realizing how charming it was.
"well, thank you, spencer. i really enjoy our little chats," you nodded as you unlocked your car. "thanks for walking me out. i'll see you?" you asked.
"yea, yes. i will uhm, see you later. goodbye, y/n," he smiled gorgeously.
"see you later, spencer," you grinned back as you closed your door and began to drive off after buckling up.
halfway home, you got a call from someone. you pressed the bluetooth answer button on your radio to answer.
"hello?" you replied, readjusting your hands on your wheel.
"y/n hotchner. i can't believe you were at the office and didn't even bother to say hi to me!" emily's voice rang through the speakers.
"emily! hello to you too," you giggled.
"you even said hi to reid! but not me?" she shouted. "what gives?"
"sorry, i just kinda ran into him, i guess. well, he ran into me," you corrected yourself.
"what does that mean?"
"well, he kinda stopped me while i was in the elevator so he could talk to me. he's such a good friend," you complimented.
"only friend?" emily asked suggestively.
"yes, em. only friends," you laughed at the insinuation.
while it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to be more than friends with him, it certainly wasn't the right time for a serious relationship in your life yet.
"righhtt... anyway, that's not the only reason i called you," she stated.
"and why did you do that?" you asked as you turned onto the highway, a straight shot to the street with your house on it.
"i wanted to know if you'd like to come with us to a bar after we get off of work tonight?" she asked.
"hmm... who's 'we'?"
"well there's me, morgan, garcia, and you if you'll come?"
"sure, it sounds fun," you agreed. "besides, not like i have anything to do with no job and all," you laughed out.
"great! now we could probably convince reid to come now that you're going!" she exclaimed.
"jeez, em," you huffed as you rolled your eyes and turned onto your street.
"you know it's true. morgan's already teasing him about it and everything," she snorted out over the phone.
"oh poor spencer..." you grimaced as you thought about the relentless teases.
"yea, yea, yea. but you're coming, and there's no backing out! i'll just pick you up before i head to the bar. be ready at 8, ma'am. dress hot, please, garcia and i already agreed to it," she demanded.
"yes ma'am, sounds good," you nodded even though she can't see you.
"alright, love you, bye," she said, holding out the 'e'.
"love you too, bye," you said as she hung up the phone, finally turning into your driveway to be met with your gate.
you entered the code and the gate opened, allowing you to drive half a mile up to your house. you had always wanted a nice, big house as a child. the kind that people had in movies, and everyone looked at online. you signed a lease for this house a while back, and got an amazing deal on it sense you knew who owned it previously.
unlocking your door, you walked into your house with the papers in hand. you walked into your dining room and started filling the papers out easily. it was only 1 p.m., so you had a while before you had to start getting ready for going out with them tonight.
*******
you threw on a maroon colored corduroy skirt, tucking in your spaghetti strap, black tank top. adding some black  heeled booties, you added a few silver pieces of jewelry.
after adding some mascara, lip gloss, and a bit more powder you felt like you were ready to walk out of the door. you did a few spritzes of perfume before grabbing your black crossbody purse, letting it hang on one shoulder before grabbing your black denim jacket, dashing out of the door to emily's car.
"hey em," you said as you swung the door open, crawling not-so-gracefully inside.
"hey there," she said as she examined what you were wearing. "i seriously did my makeup for half an hour and you come out looking like that? it should be illegal to look that hot, y/n," she rolled her eyes with a huff.
"are you kidding me?" you replied, looking over to see what she was wearing herself.
she had on a short, black dress that had a low neckline, allowing tasteful cleavage to show through. she wore that with some red pumps to match her lipstick and some shimmery eyeshadow.
"okay, you can't say that. you look hot, em! don't sell yourself short," you punched her arm playfully.
"yea, yea, yea," she said, beginning to drive out of your driveway.
once you arrived to the bar, it looked like it was almost full. the music was loud, and you could feel the base through your feet on the floor. it took you about a minute until you could find the others, derek, pen, and spencer, sitting at a booth in the corner of the bar.
because of how crowded it was, you sat across from penny and derek and in between spencer and emily. you were practically on top of spencer because of how small the seats were, the poor guy.
"damn, you look great, y/n," derek gushed before looking at spencer with a smirk. "don't you think, pretty boy?" he laughed out, earning a jab from penny in the stomach.
"play nice, derek," she scolded him. "but you do look great, y/n. your legs look amazeballs in that outfit... like wow," she exaggerated.
"oh, shush," you blushed. "i'm kinda hungry... you guys?" you asked them.
"i could go for some cheese sticks," emily replied.
"i ate before we came here," spencer replied with a smile, leaning into your ear a little bit to answer.
"so cheese sticks and... cheese fries? i adore cheese fries," penny added.
"i'm okay with whatever. i'll go order," you said as emily got up to let you out.
"i'll help," spencer added as he scooted out with you.
"great, any drink requests?" you asked, pointing out to all three others.
"jack and coke," emily requested.
"anything fruity they have!" pen told you.
"whiskey, on the rocks," derek said with a smile.
"you've got it," you said as you turned around, realizing how crowded it was as you tried to weave through the first few people in your way.
you felt a hand grip yours firmly, turning to see it was spencer's hand you felt a sigh of relief wash over you. he leant down to your ear to talk to you, so you leaned a bit closer to him.
"i'm gonna put my arm around your waist so we can get through easier. is that okay?" he asked. his breath on your neck and ear almost distracted you from the question.
"y-yea. that's uhm... that's okay," you nodded your head as you felt his arm snake around your waist, pulling you closer to his side.
you moved one of your arms around his torso in return, squeezing yourself further into your side so you could avoid bumping into as many people. you could smell his sweet cologne, and the smell of what seemed to be coffee and old books. the warmth of his entire being was undeniable, drawing you closer to his presence.
eventually when you made it to the bar, you both kept your arms around the other. after ordering the food and drinks, you finally pulled your arm back, but stayed just as close to him.
"have you filled the application out yet?" spencer asked sweetly, leaning into your body.
"yea, i finished them just before i got ready to come here, actually," you nodded your head with a smile. "i guess you could say i'm a bit eager to start working."
"i think that's a good thing," he smiled brightly.
"oh, it definitely is!" you agreed. "i'm just so bored at the house. i've only been gone for a day and i need something to do, y'know?" you shrugged.
"busybody?" he questioned.
"oh you have no idea," you laughed, pushing his shoulder back playfully.
"i guess it runs in the family. hotch is always working on something as well," he mentioned. "so working at the bau would be a great fit for you both."
"yea, i sure hope so," you said longingly. "so what else do you do for fun... besides reading and working, of course," you asked.
"uhmm, i enjoy magic, i guess," he expressed.
"really?" you perked up, straightening out your posture at what he revealed.
"yea. i know a few little party tricks. wanna see?" spencer proposed, you nodded eagerly. "okay," he licked his lips as he began digging into his pocket and pulled out a $20 bill, also getting a pen. "watch..." he said as he jabbed the green paper with the pen.
"okay?" you squinted your eyebrows at what he was doing, unsure of where this trick was leading.
he then started to drag the paper around the pen, not tearing the bill at all. you felt your jaw drop in awe as he continued playing with it. then, he drug the pen all the way out of the bill, not a hole in sight. he made the bill disappear, leaving you stunned.
"what? how did you-? where did it-?" you stuttered, looking at him accusingly.
he reached around your hair, behind your ear and pulled out the same twenty dollar bill as earlier, a smug look on his face as he did so.
"okay... wow." you said as you began slow-clapping in awe. "i'm thoroughly impressed, spencer."
"thanks," he smiled shyly as he tucked the bill back into his pocket. "i've been doing magic since i was a kid. it's one of my hobbies when i'm we're not trying to catch serial killers," he shrugged.
"i'd say you've picked a good hobby," you chuckled. "i bet kids love it when you do them, huh?"
"yea, it's quite the entertainment for children," he nodded. "i love their reaction to it. it just makes me happy that i can bring a smile to their face."
"that, spencer, is fascinating," you complimented as the bartender handed you the drinks and spencer the food to take back to the table.
walking back was much easier than your journey to the bar, people actually making way for others with their hands full of refreshments. at least some people still had their manners.
"okay guys," you addressed as you began passing out the drinks, "here is your whiskey, jack and coke, and a tequila sunrise for pen."
"ouuu! i like the sound of that!" penny cheered as she took a sip of the drink, her eyes widening with delight.
"thank you, ma'am," derek thanked as he took a sip of his drink.
"absolutely perfect, y/n," emily relished in her beverage.
the rest of the night was fun. you laughed, joked, and danced with the girls. you even got to know spencer a bit more, much to your liking.
the next day you turned in your application, and was surprised when you got the job on the spot. you would begin your trial run in one week.
and you couldn't believe how fast that week went by, because as soon as you blinked, you were in the bullpen of the bau at your very own desk.

"There she is!"
You quickly whipped your head towards the source of the voice and the sounds of multiple, heavy footsteps, startled, "Oh, shit.."
You glanced down at the Shoreline soldier, whom you stabbed to death and, quickly, you ripped a part of his t-shirt away, took his Para .45 gun, and sprung back on your feet, starting to bolt towards a plausible refuge.
'This was a bad idea..'
You thought to yourself just when bullets of different calibers started to rain behind you, causing you to flinch and duck away as you ran, losing balance a little and stumbling onto your feet but, luckily, your strong desire to survive carried you and you continued your sprint through the ship graveyard. Your feet were sore and the gushing bullet wound through your hand was not helping you.
As much as you attempted to maintain a tough facade, you felt terrified. There you were, running away from an entire army of soldiers, who seeked you to avenge their fallen comrades.
It was because of you that so many Shoreline soldiers were taken down, and you reckoned that Nate and Elena took down their own, generous share of them, which was why Rafe was pissed and sending more guns behind you.
But you were on your own.
You'd parted ways with them to cover more ground to find Sam and, after a long argument with Nathan, you were able to bolt away, with only a switch-blade, a revolver, and your will to both save Sam and punch him into oblivion.
And there you were, teasing death with your absolute perseverance, your feet padding strongly on the ground as you rippled through shipwrecks. You were thinking about nothing else but your own survival.
'You're gonna be okay..'
You assured yourself, heavy breaths escaping your parted, cut lips as you vaulted over a stack of piled wood, barely avoiding the bullets that ostensibly came at you from every direction.
Your eyes scanned the environment and, when you saw a coming turn, you decided to take it, slipping a bit when you made the sudden shift. But in no time, you were on your feet again.
"Here!"
You quickly whipped out your gun just when the sniper aimed right at you and took your shot, clean through his forehead. For a second he looked stunned and he fell over, and when you wanted to take a large step forward to take the sniper gun, more men appeared in front of you, stopping you in your tracks.
Your eyes flickered in both directions, back and forth, and it seemed like you were trapped for a good couple of seconds. There was no way through the ship next to you, but there was a small opening that you could squeeze through.
Without wasting another second, you inhaled deeply and squeezed yourself through, breathing heavily and wincing when your wounded hand made contact with the splintered wood and gunshots fired incessantly, putting holes in the ship, but you ran through it, ducking your head away.
'Just breathe.'
You reminded yourself. God, why were you doing that in the first place? Why did you think, for a second, that this was a good idea? You were mad at Samuel for lying and putting your lives at risk, yet there you were, throwing yourself in the face of danger for the same man who'd broken your heart.
But you couldn't bear to lose him again.
Not after you'd just gotten him back.
And that was your only drive. The incentive that was so strong that it controlled your body for you. You'd stabbed and dodged and parkoured your way through Avery's bullshit, and sometimes, you'd be so stunned at your own actions that you'd ask yourself: "How the hell did I do that?"
You had no clue that you were capable of inciting such chaos– to elicit such rage, frustration, and desperation from Nadine and Rafe to the extent that they'd be so threatened so as to send a whole battalion after you.
And as much as that brought you satisfaction, you'd wished that it was all over. You just wanted any sign that Sam was safe and sound, and once you heard guns blazing from a distance and saw that he was there, alive and well and making a beeline from Shoreline, you were instantly back on your feet to retrieve him.
But, oh, how could that ever go according to plan with military men being at every corner?
A loud groan came from you when you jumped on a lower cliff, right below the shipwreck you were running through.
Ahead of you, a battle cry could be heard just as a soldier rounded a corner to surprise you and swing the back of his shotgun to knock you out but you quickly dodged him and ducked, pulling out your switchblade and plunging it into his jugular.
He stopped struggling and fell to the floor, allowing you to take over his weapon. After strapping it to your back, you continued your sprint and, you couldn't deny it, you were pretty sick of yourself.
You'd left this career for a reason.
Inflicting harm upon others had become more of a nightmare to you. For days, you wouldn't sleep properly when you'd remember how you so effortlessly slashed someone's neck or riddled their body with bullets.
You loved treasure hunting but everything came with a price and this was one you were no longer willing to pay.
With a loud grunt, you slammed your entire weight against yet another wrecked ship, getting your body through the moldy wood easily. You caught yourself when you nearly fell over and your eyes skimmed your surroundings.
'There. I can take cover there.'
You quickly jumped behind a pile of excavation boxes and sat down, your back propped against them. You tried to stop shaking and quickly pulled out the cloth you'd ripped from the soldier earlier, tying your hand with the flimsy fabric.
You let out a soft whimper as you applied pressure to your wound, clenching your fist when the cloth was secured around your palm, "Ah, fuck.." You whispered to yourself, resting your head back and trying to catch your breath, swallowing to dampen your dry throat.
"Careful. Lots of hiding places out here."
They were coming closer. And if you didn't get yourself together in the matter of less than a minute, you were going to be a goner.
'God– What was I thinking!?'
You mentally scolded yourself whilst reaching for your thigh holster for your gun, which you pulled out and checked for ammo.
'One bullet. Perfect. Might as well put it in my own head.'
You quickly pushed the magazine back into the handgun and unwrapped your shotgun, adjusted the safety, and clung to the weapon with tight, shaking hands and closed eyes.
"You check over there. I'll stay here to lookout. She can't have gone too far."
"Roger that."
Your eyes snapped open again as the men separated to cover more ground and your guard was up again. You sat in a crouching position so you'd be able to bolt away if you wanted to easily.
You held your breath as you heard footsteps approaching the boxes you were behind. Slow, careful ones, as if the soldier just knew you were there. As if he knew that just the slightest, wrong move from him could trigger a reaction from you that he might not like.
Suddenly, and out of nowhere, gunshots could be heard, and the men's attentions were diverted elsewhere, but you flinched at the flying bullets, ducking your head behind the boxes and holding your head in your hands, not daring to peek lest you lose your head.
You'd had enough. Your lungs were filled with the suffocating humidity and you were trying so hard to keep it together but you were sure you were about to lose your mind. You've been fighting your way through Libertalia on your own for a long while and all the assaults, the attacks, the bullets, the punches, they all left both physical and mental scars in you.
There. Was. A. Reason. You. Quit.
But, for Sam, you were prepared to go through just about anything and you'd often wondered if he'd do the same. If he even felt the same.
You were such a coward.
You could handle yourself, hold a gun, shoot people and impale them with ease, but you could never bring yourself to look him in the eyes and tell him what you've wanted to all those years back.
That you loved him. That you always have and probably always will. He died and left you to wallow in your misery for fifteen years and now that he was back, it was your chance for a redo.
But, once again, you couldn't do it and you just didn't know what it was about him. His intense, yet warm gaze was probably it. It made you shake with fear. The fear of not being adequate enough for him. You've seen what type of women he hooked up with and you were nothing like them. A voice would tell you that it was probably a good thing. That Sam was actually waiting for someone like you to impact his life. To cause that dramatic shift within him. To make him wonder what life would taste like with you, tucked in his arms.
But another voice told you "Don't. He's not looking for anything."
And you'd changed your mind. You'd shaken your head with a thin smile and a soft 'nothing..' before turning away from him, leaving him confused yet intrigued. And that was the last time you had any interaction. After that, his lie was exposed, and you didn't know why, but as much as your heart broke because of it, you couldn't find it in you to be mad at him.
Sure, punching the daylights out of him was a priority, but at that moment, you just wanted to find him and never let him go.
Startled, you let out a loud scream after being taken into a pair of strong arms. You struggled, feeling the person turn you, saying things that you couldn't quite hear over your low growls of resistance.
"Let me go!" You yelled, trying to push them away. You couldn't see anything except the blur of your own tears. You didn't even know why you were crying.
"Hey!" The person's sharp voice came and something in your brain clicked. That voice. It was so familiar and it slowly brought you out or your trance. You were breathing heavily, your stamina suddenly feeling low, "It's me.. It's just me.." He comforted, cupping your cheeks in his hands and tilting your head up, wanting to look at you.
You stared at him for a couple of seconds, studying his deeply concerned expression. You were overjoyed. He was right there, holding you. And it'd dawned on you that the bullet sounds ceased completely. That you could only hear the heavy winds and you and Sam's erratic breathing.
When he realized that you were back to him, he let out a sigh of relief and smiled, making something burst inside of you and you felt the tears rushing to your eyes. The contortions your face suddenly made hurt every deep cut in your skin and you couldn't help but wince before letting out a sob.
Sam knew that reaction was coming and he knew you. He knew that you were relieved to have him right there in front of him. He knew that you came after him alone and as much as that worried him sick, he was sort of glad he had you there. And yet he had no idea what he'd done to deserve that.
Gratefulness suddenly overcame him and he took you into an embrace as you cried and all you could do was surrender and close your eyes as your face pressed into his chest. One of his hands was holding the back of your head, his fingers deep into your hair. His other arm was around you, and he let out a soft sigh of comfort, just basking in your presence.
"It's just me.." He repeated, his voice barely above a tired whisper, "It's okay.."
Slowly, you started to calm down. Your sobs were no more and you only started to sniff and hiccup lightly and Sam pulled away, only to look at you. Your beautiful face. The face that he so dearly loved. You had the ability to make him feel warm and it was almost embarrassing how many times he'd catch himself staring into your observant, curious, lively eyes.
And your smile.
Oh, what he wouldn't give to see you give him a smile and one of your coy laughs. You were such a blessing.
But, much like you, he was a coward. He couldn't bring himself to look you in the eyes and tell you how you made him feel. He wanted to tell you that he's imagined you jumping into his arms and kissing him on more than one occasion but he just couldn't and he too had no clue as to why he felt so timid around you– it was extremely out of character for him.
"You okay?" He asked you gently while wiping away your tears with his thumbs, staring into your lost eyes.
You nodded with a small hum, feeling yourself unable to form the words just yet, like you were brain-dead. If you'd even opened your mouth, nothing articulate would come out.
"We gotta go, alright?" He spoke gently, tucking stray strands of your hair behind your ears, his hazel eyes warm, assuring safety. Quickly, you nodded. After that, his hands left your cheeks so he could reload his gun, "Stay close." He instructed, jogging ahead already.
You stared at him as he did, your shoulders sagged in defeat and your eyes still welled up with tears. You wondered just how much you truly loved him. You let out a shaky breath when you realized that it hurt when he wasn't cupping your cheeks anymore or playfully quipping.
You remembered how hard it was to live for such a long time without him.
And you knew that, as long as he was next to you, there was nothing you couldn't do. That thought alone pushed you to jog and catch up to him, feeling your stamina get back to you.

Prospects and Propriety - Chapter One
Tumblr media
Summary: Everlark Jane Austen AU
“We’re very similar, you and I.” He turns the leaf over in his palm one last time and then presses it into my hand. His fingertips are warm where the leaf is brittle.
We are, aren’t we? Me, a girl forced to marry by the rules and expectations of society and him, a boy whose freewill was stolen away before he could even walk. We’re both prisoners. Destined to fates we did not choose ourselves. Now I see what was so funny to him.
The two of us: we are absolutely tragic.
Katniss Everdeen and her younger sister Prim are the adopted daughters of Mr. Haymitch Abernathy, a wealthy man with no biological heirs. By the rules of Panem society, an older sibling must be married before the younger can wed. In a time when women have no means of making their own living, marriage is the only way for Katniss to save her sister from destitution and set her up for a happy marriage of her own. Katniss sets her sights on Mr. Gale Hawthorne, a wealthy man who just moved to Whitley and who seems to have his eye on her. But what of the poor baker’s boy who once took a beating to save her life?

Author’s Note:
This is a story inspired by my love of Everlark and Jane Austen’s novels. I am in no way an expert on the Regency period and I include fashions/details that are not historically accurate.
The setting is an alternate England-like Panem.
The plot is my own (Gale is not Mr. Darcy people, don’t get it twisted) but does borrow aesthetics and ideas directly from Jane Austen and Suzanne Collins.
The cast of characters is a mix of canon Hunger Games and original characters I’ve created.
I plan on including links to music and ambiance videos I used while writing so feel free to explore those! I typically play nature sounds and music together on my laptop so sorry if you're reading on a phone!
Warning: I do plan on this series getting a lil smutty. There will be graphic depictions of violence, sex, and possibly death. I’m still working everything out:)

Chapter One
I run my hands through the tall grasses at my waist. It’s the perfect morning. The crisp air doesn’t quite hold that harsh bite of winter that will soon sweep the countryside in blizzards and ice. Emerald leaves hint at the coming autumn with the slightest tint of yellow along their stems. The sun shines bright through branches and I watch the forest come alive with squirrels and chipmunks that scurry through the thick brush. The dirt path I followed to get here grazes the edge of the woods, but I’ve abandoned it to traipse through the wild-flower dotted hillsides instead.
From this high up, I can see everything. The village of Whitley lies to the west. I can just make out the rooftops of the squat brick buildings off the main square. By this time the merchants will have opened their shops for business. The rest of the countryside is peppered with grand estates and bountiful farmland. Rivers gleam like veins of silver and dirt roads are wreathed in the dust kicked up by horse-drawn carriages. I wish I could stay and sit here all day. I would drink in the sun and drown in the low hum of insects, though Haymitch has warned me of the nasty gossip that follows a lady with a tan and a set of freckles.
A lady. I almost snort. Apparently, that’s what I am. Or what I need to be if anyone is ever going to ask for my hand in marriage. The thought ruins the good mood my morning stroll had put me in. I throw myself down among the tall grasses and begin plucking mindlessly at their stems.
Haymitch Abernathy, the legal guardian of me and my sister, has never been one to force us into doing things we dislike. I’m allowed to ride my horse alone, hunt with a bow and arrow, and take off into the woods whenever I please, like some woodland nymph from one of my father’s old stories. If it wasn’t for Prim and my greenhouse back at home I would probably live out here. Until it got cold of course. I’m allowed more freedom than any other young girl in the county, I’m sure. But not even Haymitch can protect me from matrimony.
My sister is excited for me. I imagine she’s fantasized about her wedding since she knew what a wedding was. To her, marriage is a romantic fairytale. A strong, handsome man of large fortune will sweep her off her feet and give her an estate to run and small, cherub-faced children to care for. To me, marriage sounds like a death sentence. They say if I’m lucky, I’ll marry for love as well as for fortune, but I never want to love someone as much as my mother loved my father. Because when he died, in a way, so did she. The only person I know that I truly love is Prim.
Primrose Everdeen, my little sister, was never the outdoorsy type like me. She’s fair, with golden blonde hair that hangs in ringlets past her slight shoulders, and a face as fresh and as pure as a spring dewdrop. She spends her days drawing, flower arranging, and studying languages with my old tutor Mrs. Winthrop.
“She’ll be a highly accomplished woman by the time I’m done with her. Mark my words, this young girl is special,” Mrs. Winthrop had said to Haymitch mere days after first starting Prim’s lessons. She had been my tutor for years and had never said anything nearly as flattering about me. Sullen Katniss Everdeen must have been a lost cause in her eyes.
I’m four years older than Prim who’s a mere twelve. We share the same parents, though we look almost nothing alike. Where she received the fair skin, blonde curls, and gentle blue eyes of our mother, I received the olive-toned, straight black, and storm grey palette of our father.
I sit up suddenly, aware that I left home hours ago and it must be getting time for my lessons. I dread heading back to that stuffy room where I’m required to sit straight and learn to be “lady-like” under the scrutinizing gaze of Ms. Effie Trinket, my new tutor. Manners are of the utmost importance to her, seeing as she makes her living off of teaching them. She considers being late an unforgivable sin.
With this in mind, I take my time gathering wild-flowers. There are so many at my feet, their delicate white and yellow petals peeking up amongst the grasses. I deftly craft two flower chains. One for me, which I place on the crown of my head, and one for Prim clutched in my hands. I notice some dirt under my nails and smile, wondering what Effie will say when I arrive late and grimy.
She purses her lips and crosses her arms as I enter the room. “Where were you?” She demands in that high pitched voice of hers.
“Out,” I shrug. I hadn’t seen Prim on my way in so I’m still clutching her flower crown. I offer it to Effie instead. “Flowers?” She squints at my offering, probably checking for bugs, before gingerly taking it and placing it down on a side table.
“Katniss, I need you to take today’s lesson seriously.” Her clipped tone sets my teeth on edge.
“I always do-” I start, but Effie cuts me off.
“Don’t lie to me, Katniss. I know you don’t care for etiquette. I know that to you a spoon is just a spoon, even when that spoon is a soup spoon and should only be used for soup!”
Again with the soup spoon thing, it was one time. But she’s right. I find learning manners and etiquette a waste of time. I’ve only been out in society for a short while. I barely attend balls seeing as I’m sixteen and prefer to stay at home anyway. I look up and realize that Effie is still talking at me.
“Are you even listening? Mrs. Winthrop was right, you are hopeless.” She sighs and wipes non-existent dust off of her shimmery lilac skirts. “It is imperative that you start paying attention and make some kind of progress in these lessons. Mr. Gale Hawthorne has recently taken possession of Templeton and is traveling here, as we speak, to take up residence indefinitely. Do you know what this could mean for you?” Suddenly, her annoyance melts away and is replaced by a teary, almost hopeful expression. The way this woman’s emotions swing back and forth between happy and exasperated hurts my head. She comes to clasp my face between her palms. “Mr. Hawthorne earns ten thousand a year, Katniss. Ten thousand!”
I have in fact heard of the Hawthornes. Maybe those lessons have had more of an impact on me than I thought. I was forced to spend months poring over books filled with the names and family trees of wealthy, well-known families that I had either already been acquainted with or might be acquainted with in the future. A healthy knowledge of people, especially rich people, will get you far in life. At least that’s what Effie says.
Gale Hawthorne is the eldest son of the wealthy businessman Ezra Hawthorne. I forget exactly how Mr. Hawthorne first made his fortune but the word mine sticks around in my head. What his mine produced, I’m not sure. Precious gems? Gold? Coal? All I know is the Hawthornes are incredibly wealthy, and Gale being the eldest son inherited when his father died. He is in possession of everything from the family fortune to a legion of servants to the many extravagant houses in Town. Now it seems he’s grown tired with the city and has decided to try his hand at country living. Good, I think. A wealthy man who’s used to the high society of the Capitol won’t last long out here. He’ll be out of my hair before the month’s up. Effie must not realize this since she’s still staring happily into my face.
“And?” I ask.
“Well, he’ll fall in love with you and ask for your hand in marriage!” She beams as if this is obvious. “If you play your cards right of course. For instance, he won’t find you very agreeable if all you do is scowl at him like you do me-” I jerk out of her grasp.
Of course. Marriage. It’s one of the only things Effie has talked about the entire time I’ve been her pupil.
“Yes, Mr. Abernathy warned me that'd you'd be. . .avoidant. But don’t you see? That’s the reason I’m here. To teach you how to win a husband! It’s an art you know.” She sighs, probably seeing the panicked look on my face, and slips back into a tone of tired annoyance. “You’ll have to marry someone, Katniss. Might as well marry knowing you’ll spend the rest of your life in the lap of luxury.”
She’s right, of course. There’s no way for women to make their own living. I can’t go to university to study business or law, I can’t run my own shop, I can’t inherit Haymitch’s estate or fortune. When he dies the money goes to some estranged cousin on his father’s side. I am a woman, therefore, I am destined to either marry or die poor and unprotected. And Prim…
If I don’t marry, then Prim can’t marry. One of the rules of proper Panem society is that a younger sibling cannot marry unless the eldest has, meaning I must be happily settled before my younger sister can even entertain the idea of love. If I don’t get married and Haymitch goes and does something stupid like die, there will be nothing I can do. For either of us. We’d be turned out of the house and left to beg for scraps. And I will not let that happen to Prim. Not again.
I force myself to swallow past the lump in my throat and spend the rest of the afternoon paying careful attention to Effie. She’s trying to teach me to communicate with men via body language, long gazes, and the fluttering of lashes.
This is the only way to save Prim, and with each horrible flutter I produce and each disappointed sigh from Effie, I feel my chances slipping away.

So...I did a thing....
Tumblr media
Ahhhh I’ve been so bored during these times that I went back through old art n my many DED DeviantArt accounts. I found this old beauty from 2013-14.... and I decided to redraw my girl in the middle
It’s me and two old friends during our TMNT phase in middle school. Kelsi (Sophie), Ella (Me Emma), and Tara (Sara). We’d actually call each other by these names and have over text Role plays....
Tumblr media
Wrote fanfics bout us n everythin! Here’s the only one that I help with:
Kelsi gave a tiny wave to Donatello as he left with his brothers for patrol. He turned around and looked at her with pleading eyes. He had tried to convince them he needed to hang back, but now that Tara was here they decided to let her take over on watch patrol there. He glanced between the Shellraiser and his friend.
"You sure you don't want me to-"
"Nope! I'm fine, Tara will be here, and if I run into problems I can call. Just go, I can handle myself!" Tara gave a sharp nod and motioned with her hands for him to move along.
"Go on Don, I've got her." He hesitated before slipping inside and driving off. There was a moment of silence between the two cousins, smiles beginning to form on their faces.
"Is he gone?" Kelsi stretched her neck in an attempt to get a closer look. Tara ran over and peeked out.
"Gone, the taillights just disappeared." She looked back with a grin. "Ready?"
"Ready!" She snatched her laptop from underneath her wheelchair and opened the lid, browsing through the list they had made an hour earlier, complete with links and information underneath each case.
It wasn't that they were hiding this from the turtles they just…they wanted to do this on their own. If any of them figured out what it was they were up to, they were toast. No doubt that they would immediately be banned from continuing their new pastime, and life would go back to its former dull throbbing. There were nine pages worth of things to look at, and they couldn't choose for the longest time.
"We might want to start with something easy." Tara sighed, leaning back and scanning her eyes over the list. "I don't know, like maybe a missing cat."
"That's way too easy."
"Not for you." She teased. "But yeah, I know. What are you thinking?"
"Maybe bump it up a notch and try missing person?" Kelsi scrolled the cursor over the link to the site.
"You do realize you're on that list right?" Tara smirked. "Lucky me, I found Kelsi, how much money do I get?"
"Shut up." Kelsi threw her head back and laughed. "Just shut up, that's not funny."
She turned back to the screen while her cousin gave a fake pout. "Seriously, they'll be back in a few hours we need to pick something." She opened a link up to a case involving a missing car. It was merely out of curiosity, she had a feeling their first job would end up being a cat after all. She skimmed over the article and blinked in confusion, mumbling to herself.
"What is it?"
"Just reading, according to this article the car disappeared last Sunday when some hijacker stole it, but according to the owner, the car never left his garage."
"Pshh, well it's gone now, it had to end up leaving at one point or another." Tara leaned in closer to read the tiny print. "Footage? The guy kept six cameras in his garage? Must be quite the car."
"Yeah, it is actually." Kelsi opened up the picture attached. A cherry red Corvette that shone like the sun came up on the screen, and Tara could only cringe and suck in air through her teeth.
"Ouch, talk about money down the toilet."
"If there's a reward of over 1,000 dollars then he's not too hurt over it."
"One thousand?! For a Corvette?! This guy's trying to pull off some bargain, nobody's going to look for a Corvette with only one thousand dollars to gain."
"Nobody…except us."
"No."
"Tara! Come on!" Kelsi whipped her head around and pleaded, whining and shaking the monitor. "One thousand dollars, we can get it if we try!"
"Absolutely not. Not for that much money."
"We could weasel more out of him when we're done." Kelsi gave a grin. She wanted this really bad, Tara could tell. Though she didn't blame her, she spent a lot of time down there after all. The smell was beginning to become the norm for Tara. That was new.
"You are evil." Tara laughed.
"Come on, are you in or are you out?"
Tara hesitated. She wanted the money out of it, she wanted the adventure out of it, and she wanted to completely defy all rules she had been given in the past week. And finding that Corvette with her cousin could give her all of it. Kelsi held out her hand and raised an eyebrow, giving another annoying whiny plea. Tara sighed and shook her hand, letting another smile spread across her face.
"I'm in, let's go get that car."
Tara had her head phones plugged into her phone, simultaneously FaceTiming Kelsi as she walked down the streets of New York. It smelled like gasoline and crap, but she had started the mission and she was fine with it. The boys were on the other side of town, nothing could bother her as of right now.
“Okay, the garage should be coming up on your left,” Kelsi said. She was peering at the directions on her laptop and looking up to check on her cousin every two minutes. “There’s an alarm planted on every angle of it though, watch it.”
“How am I going to get in then?” Tara replied, making eye contact with her cousin through the screen. The resolution was fuzzy still, but she could manage. “I can’t take down all of the alarms, there are probably hidden ones.”
“Yeah, there are.” Kelsi began squinting at the screen again. “But you might be able to take them all out if you could disable the mainframe on the top floor.”
“I don’t know how to disable the mainframe Kels’, I’m not that smart.” Tara approached the building and crossed the street, leaning up against the side of it and pretending to smoke with a fake cigarette she had made a few minutes earlier. “I wish you could take it out for me.”
“I can’t, I would have to be there in person, besides, I’m not even sure I could accomplish that, I’m not terribly good with computers outside of error code fixes.”
“Then what do I do? I’m lost as to what you want from me here.” Tara peeked down the sides of the alleys, hoping nobody was listening in on their conversation. The feed went static, then came back in.
“You need to climb up the fire escape on the tattoo parlor next door and hop across to the roof of the garage.”
“Hop across? As in, jump-in-mid-air-and-land-on-the-other-rooftop across?”
“Yes, that kind of across? Cool?”
Tara swallowed a lump in her throat and shrugged, stuffing her fake cigarette back into her pocket. She found the fire escape and swung up trying to make as little noise as possible. It was really dark outside, but a few people roamed the streets checking out street vendors. Her main fear was either falling from the building or getting caught. She couldn’t choose which one was worse.
“I’m at the top.” Tara’s hair blew off to the side and she looked back down at her phone. Kelsi had her eyes fixed on her cousin with a weak smile and twitchy hands. “I’m going to jump now.”
“Just pray you don’t end up like me.”
“Thanks for the encouragement.” Her heart pounded as she approached the edge of the building and scuffed her foot on the concrete ledge. It definitely wasn’t comfy below, but she had to jump now or the entire mission would end. Was this even worth it? Self-doubt was incredible.
Tara gripped her phone tight, took in a deep breath, and pushed off. The first few seconds were slow motion, she couldn’t even tell she was falling or flying through the air. She didn’t dare open her eyes, she shut them tight enough for them to split. Her legs flailed around uselessly. She landed on the other rooftop with a solid thumping, and all the air in her lungs whooshed out with a grunt. Concrete again, she had made the jump.
“Yes! Tara you made it!” Kelsi clapped and gave a cheer.
“I…I need a moment.” Tara’s body shook with fear and her limbs ached, but she was more than proud that she had made it. She was okay now, she could complete the mission. After thirty seconds she managed to stop shaking and stand up again.
“Okay Tara, see the entrance?”
“No, there’s an air vent and weeds up here.” Tara said. “And a few dead cockroaches, ew.”
“About that air vent…hehe…”
“NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT, NOT IN A MILLION YEARS KELSI!” Tara glared at her phone, her cousin rubbing the back of her neck and whistling awkwardly.
“That’s the only way into the mainframe com-“
“NO! I AM NOT SQUEEZING THROUGH SOME DUMB AIR VENT, THINK AGAIN CHAPMAN!” Tara shook her head furiously. No way in no universe was anyone, especially Kelsi, going to force her down a stuffy air vent where she couldn’t breathe, and where she would get her arms stuck a moment later.
“Tara, there is literally no other way to get in, I’m sorry.”
“Then the deal’s off, I am not climbing through an air vent.” Tara shook her head and pursed her lips. “Not today, not ever.”
“Tara!” The whiny voice had come back, Tara hated that voice. “Please, don’t you want that money?”
“Yeah, but it isn’t worth a trip down that death hole air vent.”
“Tara, I didn’t want it to come to this but…climb down that air vent or I will tell Raph.” Kelsi had a slightly amused face now.
“I don’t really care if you tell him.” Tara shrugged.
“We aren’t talking about the same thing Tara. I’m talking about this mission, here and now. He will kill you.”
There was a moment of silence where they just stared at each other making strange faces and giving glares. “Don will kill you too to be honest.”
“No he won’t. I didn’t leave the lair. He would kill you though for leaving me down here alone. Options Tara, tick, tock.” Kelsi seemed really amused now, she had the worst poker face known to mankind. Tara stared at her with a hard glare.
“What if I told Donnie that you did something illegal?”
“I didn’t do anything illegal. That argument is invalid.”
“You’re assisting my break-in into some rich guy’s car garage.” Tara gave a smirk and crossed her arms. “So much for ‘invalid’ sister.”
“Why are we even talking about this, get into the air vent and get those tapes!”
Tara really hated this. She really hated this. There was nothing else for her to do, she didn’t fancy the idea of jumping across the buildings and climbing back down the fire escape again. She didn’t fancy sitting there waiting for the cops or Raph to find her either. She could always try climbing down the side of the brick building though. “I’m climbing down the side of the building and coming back, let’s get a new mission.” Tara headed over to the side and stuck one leg over when-
“Tara you’re a coward! Get in that air vent or I’ll tell them all you were a wimp when I reveal our mission!” Kelsi shouted.
“THE THINGS I DO FOR YOU KELS’!” Tara swung her leg back over and punched the lid off the vent, sliding her body inside. Hot and stuffy. Delightful. She crawled further down and it got cooler though, before she knew it she was directly above the entrance to the mainframe security, and she dropped in as quiet as a mouse. “What now?”
“There should be a power switch on the wall, flip that down.”
Surely enough, there it was, a big red switch she took pleasure in killing. The lights flickered out, leaving Kelsi’s FaceTime as the only source of light. “Now turn it back on, the computer should have corrupted.” And corrupted it was, error messages flashing on the screens, security cameras twitching, and not a single alarm going off.
“Genius. You’re a genius Kels-“
There was a soft thump behind her and she whipped around to face another girl about her age with medium length dark hair. She wore a jean jacket and black leggings, and she brushed off her legs with a huff. Tara’s heart leaped and she took a staggering step back. The girl looked up with a crooked smile and shoved her out of the way, opening the door to the garage and slamming it behind her.
“Get back here you punk!” Tara stuffed her phone in her pocket and ran after her, trailing the ear buds on the ground and nearly tackling the stranger on the concrete if it weren’t for her quick dodge and arm lock. “Let go of me you idiot, I will kill you right now!”
“Yeah, sure.” Her voice was soft and delicate. “I’m guessing you’re looking for the tapes on that Corvette too? Well they’re mine, thanks for taking security out for me.” She dropped Tara and ran to the back wall, stumbled up and freed one of the cameras from its plastic holders. Tara was red in the face and ready to kill.
“What right do you have?!”
“Every right, the same rights you have.” She landed softly back on the ground and gave another grin. “But your nerd forgot to tell you that there was only one camera working that night. And that’s this one.” She pointed at the device and sighed. “Such a shame you missed out on that money. Well, I’ll catch you later!”
“NERD?! EXCUSE ME!” There was a muffled shout from Tara’s pocket that she ignored. She reached in and hung up the call. Kelsi couldn’t bother her right now.
She made a dash for the exit but Tara grabbed her by the arm and slammed her into the ground. “No thanks, I think I’ll catch you later!” She snatched the camera and sprinted out the door and down the stairs to the exit. Her feet practically flew across the cement, but the same girl flipped over her and landed in front of her, hand outstretched.
“It was mine first.”
“I don’t care.”
“Who do you think you are?” She crossed her arms and glared.
“Tara. Nice to meet you. Now if you’ll excuse me…” She ducked in-between her legs and kept running. “I have business to take care of!”
Tara hated this girl, she wanted to put a good nineteen feet between them and get back to the lair before any of the turtles came back. Patrol time was almost up. She could hear the footsteps behind her though, that idiot was going to follow her. She needed to lead her in the wrong direction.
She reached the bottom and skidded across the ground to the fire exit, but the girl yanked her hair, stole the camera, and pushed ahead again. Tara shouted and cursed, waving her fist and chasing after her, but the dark haired girl disappeared into the dark alleys across the street before Tara could catch her. A small piece of paper fluttered in the breeze, Tara figured it were just a shred of a magazine or newspaper. But instead it had handwritten words on it in silver sparkling pen ink. She snatched it from the wind’s grasp and fumbled picking her phone back up to redial Kels’. The note made her even angrier.
Have a wonderful day!
~Ella
Tara crumpled up the scrap and stomped on it, her breathing heavy again. She slipped back into the sewers and trudged through the raw sewage all the way back.
Ella was going to regret messing up her chance for the money.
She was going to regret it.

I'm Not Over You //Ben Hardy x Reader (Part 9)
A/N: All the fact checking had me reeling to be honest and this is one long-ass chapter, longer than the one where I said 'it's the longest I've written' but actually this wins the competition. I've used some lyrics from the song Photograph cos I felt like it would go nicely with the flow plus I am weak with hospital scenes because of the distresses that occur within it but I tried ya know ¯_(ツ)_/¯ It's a little messy and dramatic on a side note because I had to deal with some outside disturbances as well and my mind was on other things 😔 But again, thank you guys for supporting this series! Your feedbacks mean a lot ♥ Tag list is always open!! (seriously, I need more people to tag xd)
Summary: You had always loved Ben ever since you the two of you met in university and became the best of friends. That feeling went out like a candle flame when you parted ways until he re-entered your life...but this time with someone who has already occupied his heart.
Warnings: That angst from 8? Yeah, it just upgraded, fluff if you, like, use a microscope, explicit description of blood and injuries, swearing but I kept it to a minimum, mentions of death but there's actually no death. Melodrama, ig? Sorry, I had a hard time writing consistently this week ^^'

"Someone please help! Help us! "
"Bloody bastard just drove off without even stopping! "
"Are you fu- you left your phone?! He's barely clinging on to life!! Ask a random person to dial 911!"
"Oh god, what- what do we do- his head, his freaking head! There is so much blood right now!"
"D-don't move his neck! He's critical!"
"Rosy. Rosy. Calm down...he has to be fine..he should be... "
"An ambulance is on its way!"
"His head is fucking bloody! Do you even want- fuck! Someone help here! Someone, please help! "
"Is he even breathing?! "
"Oh god, Y/N! He's not- he's not! "
"You better not be joking around!"
"Joe! He is bloody dying and you think I'm fucking joking?!"
"He has no pulse as well..."
"I got to- I have to make an attempt to resuscitate him. "
"Are you sure?"
"We're not waiting for that goddamn vehicle! If I don't do it, he's going to die!"
"Wake up, Ben! Please, wake up..."
Blur. That's what everything was. A huge, uncoordinated, focal blur. A sea of people had crowded the scene like a flock of sheep ready to graze on the pasture, except the only green they had for their eyes was the sight of six, dreadful friends taking it in their hands to keep the seventh one grounded while they wait for professional help.
The ones with flashing cameras hoisted up high to document the scene disgusted you down to the pits of your stomach and you had wished for them to scatter away. You all, especially you had to bear the agony of seeing him motionless on the asphalt ground– without breath, skin drained of color while the only color highlighted in the spectrum was the copious but graphic amount of blood that had tainted the spot he was lying in– his hair coated in the sticky, sanguinary puddle, creating a traumatizing mix of blond and deep red that you now couldn't forget. The tears pricking from your eyes when you had given him mouth to mouth mingling with his bleeding forehead.
He had lost all consciousness at a maximum.
You had ached to cradle his body right there and then but had you acted on impulse; it would've worsened the situation.
Medics had filled in the scene seconds after you had given Ben a well-thought out CPR undeterred by your raging adrenaline. He was then brought into the ambulance with Rosy tagging along to be there when they rush him into the ER. You had gone after with the others in Gwilym's car, your shaking hands coated with drying blood -his drying blood- as you made your way to the hospital in a blistering cruise.
You're still in your dress, only topped with Joe's designer blazer to shield you from the cold and a warm, half-empty cup of brew situated between your palms partially substituting the natural heat of your skin, waiting quietly in the lounging room. They had transferred Ben to a private room after performing an operation on his head and scanning him afterwards. One of the emergency doctors remarked that if it weren't for your initiative to follow first aid protocol and give him immediate resuscitation before help had arrived– he would have gone ten minutes early.
You've been waiting an hour and a half for the doctor to step out of the room and deliver the news about his condition. And while you do that, Joe and Lucy have gone off to collect a fresh pair of clothing from the hotel for you to change into. Rosy is stood at the entrance making some calls, Gwilym and Rami have gone back to their respective hotels to change clothes and come back for the news.
You felt light hearing that comment but it's nothing compared to the aftermath of the accident. It was a hit-and-run and the driver didn't even step on his breaks or bother to stop to take responsibility.
Rami's blazer that had been used to delay Ben's bleeding has been given back to him for dry cleaning. To complicate the situation, you're supposed to be boarded on a plane back to England eight hours from now yet that's something you have to cross out from the bucket list, entirely. You're not going anywhere unless Ben heaves out a single sigh of life.
Not a single step out the fucking institution unless he opens those eyes.
Unless he parts his lips.
Unless he says your name.
You owe it to him for saving your life, nearly costing his.
And it's just 2 in the morning.
You put down the cup on the space next to you, bringing your hands up to your lowered head, underneath your eyes watering from all of that's happened tonight.
"We're back." Two figures stand before you minutes after your eyelids have fluttered shut in despair. You lift your head to be met with Joe and Lucy in their casual clothes, smiling sadly at you with paperbags in hand.
You return that smile with a much weaker one. They settle the bags down and Joe sinks down on one knee in front of you, taking your face in his hands gently while he peeks up at you. "I see the news isn't out yet. You can change, we'll take care of it."
"You sure?" You mumble quietly. He nods and you prolong a sigh as you sit up, getting tenderly lulled into a hug by Lucy. "He's gonna be okay." She expresses definitely as she rubs your back. You thank her for the reassurance before taking one of the bags that contains your clothes.
Pulling the hem of your sweatshirt in place, you couldn't wait to escape the lavatory. It smells of newly applied bleach and the pungent odor is plain nauseating. You close the door with the bag in hand on your way out but freeze in your spot as a certain, exclusive news breaks out in the TV screen above you.
"Just 10pm tonight, Bohemian Rhapsody and EastEnders star, Ben Hardy, has reportedly been gravely involved and injured in a hit-and-run just outside of Wallis Annenberg Center during the ongoing Vanity Fair after party. Sources said that he had dashed headlong down the traffic-jammed streets to what they said was an attempt to save co-star's, Joe Mazzello, date from an incoming vehicle– which he had succeeded in as he failed to save himself–" The rest of the news anchor's words go unprocessed in your head as you hurriedly trace your way back to the lounging area, unwilling to hear recurring reports at yours or anyone's expense.
It already hurts enough that you think it's partly your fault for acting so careless.
By now, the attending physician should be out and conveying the news to Lucy and Joe and as you arrive– he is, hands in his lab coat pockets, informing them in the most serious of tones.
They see you approaching and you ask immediately, words stumbling out of your mouth like perceivable beats. "Doc, how is he? How's Ben?"
With Lucy and Joe already informed about it, the doctor decides to tell you himself to save them the hassle. "He should be fine soon. However I must be frank with you, miss," your heart loses a beat for a fraction of a second at the suspense rising, "he flat lined twice in the ER. It took three sets of defibs to get his heart beating again." Hearing him break to you that Ben was a simple step away from death as they tried to treat him drains the warm color palette in your face, even with the affirmation that he's going to be alright; knowing there were two moments in which he had slipped in and out of life at the same time just upsets your stomach.
The doctor continues with his report, telling you that he's suffered from a mild to severe head trauma caused by the blunt force when he had his scalp dragged along the asphalt. Apparently he fissured the the near front of his skull and underwent neurosurgery for it.  You quickly get the idea, having studied a series of medical topics of course, but it doesn't invalidate the fact that it still sounds like a bad thing.
The doctor sighs and adds. "Although he bled internally at a minimum, he's lucky to have bled externally for the most part."
Forming a steeple of your fingers and stealing a quick glimpse of Lucy and Joe, you gulp hard. "How long 'til he wakes up?"
"I'd say in about 48 hours. His scan results after the surgery showed promise for a stable recovery though he might wake up a little dazed at first due to the moderate concussion," at least you're getting the assurance that he's waking up, "your friend has a thick skull. He'll recover in time, but with short-term effects."
48 hours. Not enough time for you to stay or leave.
"Can we see him? Right now?" Setting your expectations to the highest, you ask with a glimmer of hope and the doctor approves, minding you to turn down the lights in the room as Ben would likely be sensitive to it by the time he wakes. "A nurse will come by and check on him every once in a while as well."
You nod weakly, thanking him professionally as you gradually hang your head in disappointment. He wishes Ben a speedy recovery before turning on his heels, leaving you to it.
Lucy brings her short hair up in a pigtail, asking as she lifts up her share of the paper bags. "Are we going in now? I mean, the doc said we're able to." She vaguely points at the door of the room and you and Joe swap looks before deciding on it. You collect your items from the seats and draw in breaths as you follow suit, stepping into the room and being welcomed by the almost odorless whiff of paint and medicine; along with the light to moderate blow of the air conditioner.
As the door clicks close, you stand motionless yet internally trembling at the heartbreaking sight of Ben lying unresponsive, surrounded by various machines working to keep him alive. Flanking his bed are the heart monitor -fully functional- and a medical ventilator from which he is breathing from. He's hooked up to an IV bag with a breathing tube put into his mouth, his left arm is propped upon his abdomen but protected around a plaster and supported within a blue arm sling and lastly, his head is wrapped in a layer of roller bandage– the giveaway of his major injury.
"Y/N..." Joe cooing breaks you off from your vacant gaze but you hand him a forlorn eye as bring yourself to Ben's side, glancing over his limp body. He's taken quite a hit to have fractured his arm like this. His complexion didn't appear as livid as it is now and marking his bottom lip -which has lost that luscious red tint as well- is a small bruise, parted from his upper lip as he involuntarily breathes through the tube in his mouth. You don't hear his slow exhales but the normal rise and fall of his chest consoles a small part of you; the stable beeping of the heart monitor being the only occuring noise in the room. Concerned with how awfully quiet you've gone, Lucy and Joe give each other fitting looks as they share the same thought on the situation. As one of them begins to step close to ensure you're taking it well, you pipe up before them, your once honey-laced voice diminished to a monotone. "It's...not my fault."
"Of course, it's not," Lucy, being the one who has taken that step close, tenderly agrees but you add.
"It's not but it feels like it is."
Now Joe steps up next but stop as you add once more.
"And I told him I wanted to forget him and for him to do the same." Now some tears are inevitable.
"Y/N-"
"As impractical as it is to think about it now, but what if he does?" your hand has now hovered over him, the nerves of the pads of your fingers itching to skim themselves over his free hand, "I don't want to go. But I have to and he's still not gonna wake up by the time I leave."
His condition just yearns for your touch but you don't want to lay a hand on him just yet, out of the fear that you might hurt a small part of him.
Joe sighs softly as he puts his hands on your shoulders, rubbing them with ease. "Why don't you just email the institution about it? Tell them you're gonna have to delay because of an urgent matter."
"I can do that, but only a day after. I can't take long."
"Rami and Gwilym are on their way," Lucy reminds as she gets off her phone from messaging them, "with some food and water."
"None of us are burning the midnight oil then," Joe stretches his limbs and returns to the couch to take a moment to relax, eyes snapping wide as he remembers something. "By the way, Y/N. If you spilled your heart out to him earlier, did you include the bit where our relationship was all but pretend?"
Surely the stare you and Lucy are sharing towards him could render the atmosphere painful but you answer regardless of the topic, shaking your head as you turn your attention to Ben once more. "No. But he's bound to question it. That is if he remembers what happened."
Lucy rests her hand on her hip as she glances at the heart monitor, the waves tempting her eyes to follow them. "Doctor never implied anything about amnesia."
The three of you fall silent again with you locking your gaze at the man who didn't want to let you go. Who chased you down a busy highway knowing he'd bite the dust if he did and ended up saving you at the expense of his own well-being.
And life.
And his own soul.
He'll recover in a short period, yes. But when you had gently grazed your trembling hand over his bloodied head in the middle of the street, it was as if he was bound to never wake up. A visual you want to shake off for the sake of composure.
Joe and Lucy take notice of your stilled silence again, their expressions low-spirited. Taking small steps towards you, Lucy wraps her arms around your shoulders from behind and pulls out a certain object from her back pocket, slipping it to you. "Found this in the inner pocket of Ben's tainted blazer when the doctors gave his clothes to us."
You cast your gaze to what she's holding and hear your heart shatter at what it is. You slowly take it from her and sweep your thumb over it.
Ben's share of your Homecoming picture.
And behind it, the same date and continuation of what was written on your half.
You piece it in your mind and feel your eyes cloud with tears, a droplet making a small patter as it lands on the polaroid.
He kept it. In his blazer. He brought it along with him.
_I'm not going... anywhere at all. _
"But I am." You mutter as opposed to  the words in your head. For as long as you love him and he doesn't in the way you do, distancing yourself is something that needs to be done to make sure you finally let go. You'd stick around but it would further fragment your soul.
Just in time to tear you from reaching your breakfing point, the door creaks open to two men and a red-haired woman, two of whom are grasping paper bags containing some food and water and one with an overwrought look, respectively.
Lucy leaves your side and walks over to Rami's, kissing his cheek and helping them unload their items on the coffee table. Gwilym gives the three of you, and Rosy who had followed in behind them, an individual hug– asking you about Ben's condition as he lays eyes on him.
You assure him of a smooth recovery and it unknots the lump of worry he's under.
"Oh, Ben, baby... " Breaks down Rosy, who whizzes past you to tear up over her injured fiance. She gazes down painfully at the man before her and delicately fondles his blanch cheek, eyes narrowed to the point where her face has contorted to a scowl which she throws directly at you. "This is all your fault. "
Your brows crease at her in absolute confusion. "What are you talking about?" Sensing that an altercation is about to take place, the rest stumble quiet in preparation for the worst. Joe readies himself to butt in in case it escalates further.
"What did you say to him?" She asks you in a form of a hiss.
"Nothing! I-"
"He chased you down! You must have said something that set him off!" Her demanding voice echoes off the walls, overlaying the beeping and whizzing of both the heart monitor and ventilator. You begin swearing to her that you didn't say anything of the sort but trail off as you realize that what you had actually said, was something that indeed hurt him.
You draw your lips between your teeth and clench your fist, unable to respond with the truth, fearing it might just fuel the fire.
"That's- that's not important now." You shake your head dismissively and turn around.
"It is. You led Ben out into the street, agitated."
"Rosy, please. Can we not talk about this now? We're squabbling in front of an unconscious man-"
"Okay girls. Our boy is out cold but that doesn't mean he can't hear, right?" Eager to quench the growing conflict, Gwilym slides in between the dangerous proximity you've put yourselves in and you huff an apology.
On the other hand, Rosy does the complete opposite. "No, Gwilym. He has been acting strange for weeks and to think tomorrow's supposed to be our wedding! And this is all because of her."
Gwilym turns to her firmly and tries calming - or rather shutting her up for the sake of the peace Ben needs to heal- her down. "We're not throwing fingers here. I know tomorrow's the day and you don't want to put him under pressure, right? I don't think he's going to succumb to waking up if this goes on."
Rami, Lucy and Joe have remained unbelievably quiet but are as keen as Gwilym to prevent something unnecessary as this. It's barely 3 am in the morning for the love of God and you're all in a hospital room. Sleeping patients could bang their fists on the walls from the other side any time.
You, on the other hand, have already made four steps towards the door, ready to leave the room to be alone with your thoughts for the night but you're unable to twist the knob as Rosy snaps once more with the hint, distressing with a clenched jaw.
She's unrelenting.
"Please Y/N, you're overstepping and frankly it's getting in the way of my relationship with Ben."
"You have no idea what I'm trying to do," You mumble in the most bitter of intonations for Rosy to get the message, your fingers clenching around the knob and producing a faint chink. "But he's my best friend. Let me be the person I've always been to him, " you whip your head at her -a stare you're certain could equal to a pelted javelin- and draw your brows together, pleading on account of choosing to be present in a crisis such as this, " he's all yours anyway."
With a strong swing of the door, you march angrily out of the room, making your way outside the building to blow off steam – the smooth rub of the polaroid between your fingers surrendering you to tears.
You give yourself exactly 48 hours to stay before heading back to England to board your flight for Spain.
10 hours
Ben's accident was a clean hit-and-run. Apparently some bystanders had snapped a shot of the license plate the moment the car slowed down and accelerated afterwards. It was then delivered to the police to be given further investigation. His parents have flown in from England to visit him and you badly wish you could greet them but some things are just too heavy to do right now. Back at the hospital, Ben's been given hourly checks and assessments, with each desired result constant. He's not responsive to any physical contact but the doctor is certain that he can perceive sound and sound only.  His body is asleep but his mind isn't.
The rest will be visiting him at dusk while you're going in late with Joe.
After sending an email to the university about your 24-hour delay, you spend the entire day just waiting to go down there and be by his side. Regarding your solitude in the hotel room, Rami had Lucy stay in with him for the meantime and being initially worried about leaving you, she had asked for your permission to which you said yes to.
Sometimes in the day, you can't hold back a few tears at the flashing memory.
17 hours
Loving can hurt
Standing in front of the private room, you clutch the collar of your shirt anxiously, hearing incoherent but distinct murmurs on the other side of the door. Joe looks down at you and squeezes your hand lightly to relieve you of pressure. He knows how much this is affecting you, and though not visually shown, he's taking it hard too.
Loving can hurt sometimes
The door opens to a couple you've familiarized yourself with for so long. Ben's parents.
"Y-Y/N?" Says his mum, unable to believe that it's you standing before her. Your breath hitches as you grin sadly, being pulled into her embrace. "It's been so long."
"It has, Mrs. Jones."
Joe shakes hands with his father as he introduces himself politely. Mr. Jones greets you in with a light hug as well and you can't help but spill a few tears.
But it's the only thing that I know
They give you full access to the room
as they themselves have to leave for a while, thereby trusting their son to his closest circle. Knowing how tight you and Ben are, they give you much of their trust on this one and you'd want nothing more than to make sure he'll wake up without any further complications. They obviously know about Rosy but witnessing how long you and Ben have grown on one another, they trust you the most.
They bid you and Joe goodbye, leaving access to the room exclusive.
When it gets hard
As you begin closing the door behind Joe, he insists that you have some alone time with him. Though it may feel weird but he feels as if you need this the most with time going against you now. Touched by his thoughtfulness, you give him a quick embrace before he leaves you to it.
You know it can get hard sometimes
The sight before you hasn't changed that much.
The same monitors and the same person.
Same feeling.
However you'd rather take everything
in a different light and situation.
You fiddle with your fingers as you accumulate the strength to swallow the lump in your throat, drawing yourself to his side. The mild, incessant whirring of both the air conditioner and ventilator occupies the silent atmosphere along with the steady beeps of the heart monitor, blocking the huge gulp you've taken.
It is the only thing that makes us feel alive
Slowly taking a seat on the stool positioned beside the guard rails of the bed,  you let out a quavery sigh– the byproduct of all the tearing up you've  done today. You take his free hand in yours and stroke his pale knuckles with your thumb, leaning in to plant a kiss on it.
We keep this love in a photograph
"Ben? It's me. Can you hear me?"
One-sided conversations are helpful according to experts and this is the perfect opportunity to tell him everything without having to bear the flits in his expression.
But you beg to differ.
We made these memories for ourselves. Where our eyes are never closing.
You continue, allowing every crack and quiver to manifest in your voice no matter how relatively pathetic it will make you sound.
"Ben, please, you gotta wake up. You're leaving us in a hot mess here, bud. Hell, you gave your parents the scare of their lives. I know I'm starting off rough with this, but it's all cause you had to leap in like that. But then again, it was- it was not your fault. This- all of this is not your doing. I should've been more careful on that road. Would've been better if I had cut back on the melodrama, huh? Haha..."
You lick your lips and resume, owning the patters your tears have soiled on the tiled floor.
Hearts are never broken
"I'm sorry if I had to hide it all from you, " you build it up slowly, tears tenacious to leave your eyes, "it's just that I was afraid you'd soon forget me once you've married and I wouldn't be part of your life anymore. To make matters worse, I have always loved you, Ben. On every level and aspect, I still do. Sticking around to see you spend the rest of your life with someone else when that feeling is still present is just toxic. And to think you're supposed to be wedded tomorrow, "you sniffle, taking a few seconds to form your following words, "that's why it would be easier if we- if we...oh god, I'm actually much more of an actor than you are..." You want to chuckle for it, but nothing resembling a chuckle mopes out of your mouth. Just...short breaths.
Time is forever frozen-
"But I truly am happy for you. I really am. But I can't be happy myself when you've taken a huge portion of my heart and I'm just...I just want to make sure nothing will ever ruin your happiness," You close the distance between you and the bed, your hot tears dripping on his arm sling, the cloth absorbing it. You're really taking advantage of his inability to respond.
"I'm s-sorry, Ben. I don't know how long I can stay by your side like this. Literally like this. But as long as I am able, " you lower your head onto his chest, now shamelessly sobbing like you haven't broken down in centuries, squeezing his free but chilly hand like it's the only thing that'll give you warmth tonight, "I'm sorry if I'm going somewhere."
And still
Despite promising to give you a moment alone with him, Joe -having recurring, inquisitive tendencies- has acted as opposed to his promise and  eavesdropped on your unrequited talk due to having to wait too long, not realizing that after hearing all your words exit in sobs, you've fallen asleep with your head on Ben's chest.
Joe glances around the hall before budging the door open, careful not to disturb you as he sees you out cold next to him. He presses his lips into a hard line and chuckles quietly, amused as he grabs an available sheet from the couch and drapes it over you. The moment he notices a tear droplet stuck in the corner of your eye, he wipes it away with his thumb, sighing profoundly.
"Rosy's gonna flip when she gets back and sees this. So, " Joe, mumbling on his own, tumbles back down onto the couch and kicks back, "I'll be here just in case."
20 hours
So you can keep me
A nurse opens the door with a tray and clipboard in hand to conduct an hourly assessment of his condition, not minding your head placement on his chest. He's still unresponsive to anything external.
I**nside the pocket of your ripped jeans **
As the test ends and the nurse closes the door on her way out, his finger twitches.
30 hours
Holding me closer til our eyes meet
Joe wakes you up softly with a bowl of soup in hand– something he bought from the cafeteria upstairs. You lift your heavy head from its recent spot and blink your bleary eyes at him, giving away a wry smile and telling him you'll eat later on.
You won't ever be alone
"By they way, this slipped from your pocket." He slips something off the table and hands it to you with a knowing look, that something being the dual polaroids you've taped together the other night. You take it from him deliberately and turn your head to Ben, before staring down at the joint pictures, nostalgia ever so sudden like a whiplash.
Wait for me to come home
35 hours
Loving can heal
Rami and Lucy have stopped by to visit and take your 'shifts' considering Rosy is still absent and you and Joe had to return to the hotel to change. The attending physician and a nurse come in to replace his breathing tube with a nasal cannula, since the assessment done hours prior has shown that he's already capable of breathing on his own.
39 hours
Loving can mend your soul
"Funny how today is supposed to be his wedding but we're getting a funeral instead. " Morbidly comments one of Ben's visitors and closest friends. Every single person in the room who has come by to visit Ben shoots a death glare at him for making that joke within a two feet radius of Ben who is sure to give him a bop on the head the minute he gets up.
41 hours
And it's the only thing that I know
Meanwhile Rosy had spent the entire day rescheduling the wedding and the once volatile reactions she's had do a 360 and is brought down to one, constant look as she bumps into you on your way to Ben's room.
42 hours
I swear it will get easier, remember that with every piece of you
You both don't say a word until you've settled down on the couch as she strays to Ben's side and wipes the glistening speckle of sweat on his cheek with her thumb, the silence coming to a close as you pry the words out of your mouth.
"Rosy, believe me. I have never harboured the thought of coming between you both. I'm only ever there for him as a friend."
And it's the only thing we take with us when we die
Giving you an impassive eye, she ignores your words entirely and turns her attention back to her fiance.
45 hours
We keep this love in a photograph
You don't leave the room with the hours progressing to the moment he's timed to wake up. A lot of people have paid him a visit, cracking jokes and talking to him notwithstanding the fact that he's utterly unresponsive. They've done all they can to lighten the mood in the room, hoping all their antics and bliss would lure Ben out of his induced insensibility. But he's nowhere near the edge.
We made these memories for ourselves
47 hours
With Rosy snuggled up against his side, Ben retains immobility and it's a sight you're not used to since he's one of the most fidgety arseholes who's ever graced your life. You know you'd be bombed by her if you do this with her close by, but you had given yourself exactly 48 hours to stay before heading back.
Where our eyes are never closing, hearts are never broken
And so you wander to the opposite side of the bed and peer at down your wristwatch for the time.
Time's forever frozen and still.
48 hours
"Ben?" You whimper close to his ear. He's not responding. You know he wouldn't wake up that quickly at the strike of the exact hour but you're impatient to say goodbye to him with his forest, green eyes on full display and wandering around your (Y/E/C) ones to bolster you up.
"Hey." You coax into his ear again, still no response. The racing beat of your heart has matched the beeps of the heart monitor. His heart beats. The similarity is sketchy but nearly symbolic. You're leaving in the morning and he's not up and lively for you to fervently crush in a parting embrace.
"Bud, please. I can't force you to wake up but I'm leaving tomorrow. You have to help me...here." At this point, though how eager you are to, you can't let some tears stream down from your eyes since the possibility of Rosy waking up to you catching sobs is feasible, but Ben's involuntary stillness is not helping you with that ordeal. Losing all hope for a night, you straighten up and collect your things from the couch, deciding to come back one last time tomorrow prior to your departure.
You quickly open the door to the attending physician who's about to step in to take physical tests but you whisk past him without taking a second look.
Easy to say you didn't have a good night sleep with all the stresses weighing down on you that night. Either you hyperventilated in your slumber or remained asleep but with tears seeping from your half-closed eyes.
You've sent Lucy a text in the early hours of the morning notifying her about your departure today. She hasn't responded yet.
"Just a 24-hour delay? Are they that heartless?" Leaning on the door frame of your hotel room with a bitten donut in his hand, Joe questions as he watches you prop your luggage against the open door. "I had to reschedule the flight thrice last month, this one being the latest. It's only reasonable," You huff as a matter of fact, fixing the scarf that has dangled loose around your neck and staring into oblivion barely a second after going tight-lipped.
Finishing his donut, Joe pokes you out of your momentary trance. "You alright?"
You shake your head.
"I don't even know if he's awake now. It's past 48 hours and what if he-"
"There's only one way to find out," appeasing your elevating worry, he grabs you by the shoulders and looks you square in the eye, silently guaranteeing you of his recovery.
Since he'll be driving you to the airport, your things are neatly stored in the confines of the backseat but of course, you have to see Ben one last time, setting aside all the excruciating anticipation.
You scurry into the entrance with Joe by your side, out of breaths by the time you arrive at the door of Ben's room. Taking precautionary measures, you knock firmly on the surface expecting someone or Rosy to answer. But nada. You swap some looks with Joe and twist the knob gently, finding the room free of visitors and medical staff. Perhaps they've assessed him an hour prior.
"No one's around."
As you begin slipping a foot through the ajar door, Joe puts a hand on your shoulder, stopping you mid-step.
"Lucy's on her way."
His update on her reply makes you smile and you continue into the room, seeing the curtains that had blocked the sunlight for two days cast aside, spilling some sunlight into the room.
You take small, wobbly steps along the floor, unable to accept that until now he hasn't fluttered open those orbs you loved staring into so much. You suddenly fear that a complication has risen and is causing his extended unconsciousness but that must be the least of your worries.
So you can keep me, inside the pocket of your ripped jeans
He has to hear you. He has to. He has to.
He's gone really pasty. Dark circles under his eyes despite being asleep for two days. He has grown a scruff and looks painfully unruly, but still a face of an angel. You crouch and take his free hand in yours– careful not to disconnect the IV tube from his wrist, caressing it and drawing in a sharp inhale to free yourself of any doubt to speak up. "Ben. It's Y/N. You're scaring us, you know. The doctor said you'd wake up earlier but why? Why haven't you? What are you doing in there?"
This being the end of the long haul for you, you're not forcing anything at bay anymore– not your tears, not your peeves and certainly not your feelings. You interlace your fingers around his and kiss the back of his hand, your cheeks growing scarlet and wet with tears.
Holding me closer til our eyes meet, you won't ever be alone.
You get up from crouching and throw your arm around him in defiance of the possibility of applying a lot of pressure on his chest. It feels so different holding him that way. For the time you have left, an overly emotional, one-sided conversation should make up for the lost times that would've been great for those.
And if you hurt me, that's okay baby only words bleed
"You really kept that Homecoming picture, didn't you? Coincidentally I did too, just forgot it was there as well. But I pieced it back, by the way. Ironic that we both made a promise on those polaroids the night before graduation. I-I have it with me here, just so you know. Just thought I'd bring it out since...I'll be going soon." You pull the pictures out from the pocket of your coat with trembling hands, eager to wave them in front of him. Once out, you place it on the bedside table for him to keep once more but with your share of the picture.
Inside these pages you just hold me, and I won't ever let you go
You lay your forehead on his, your tears dripping onto his closed lids as you sob his name to get him to wake, at the same time feeling his soft exhales brush against your chin. " I told you I'd be strong and I'm trying to be. I know it sounds like a selfish thing to do but you have to trust me on this one. I want to move on, Ben. You're bound to be wedded soon and have a family of your own. I want to be there for that. I want to be that aunt who'll spoil your kids and make them fight you for the craziest demands. Those things I'd gladly do...if I wasn't this hopeless for you," Little by little, your voice comes out as broken whisper– losing your strength to add any more things to say in the process. On the other side of the door, Joe is finally joined by Lucy who has arrived not a minute late and they can't help but tear up a little at how uncontrolled your crying is slowly turning out, it's become audible enough to be heard from outside.
"Ben, buddy. Come on." He huffs against the hardwood as he and Lucy are tempted to barge in.
Burying your face into the exposed column of his neck with your arm slackening from being draped across his chest, you utter a voiceless but heartfelt statement.
Wait for me to come home
"I love you, Benjamin Jones. Be happy for me."
Your words hang thinly in the fragile air as you pull away from that proximity and leave a long kiss on his forehead, walking back sadly to the door with your hand outstretched ready to grab ahold of the knob.
"H-how could I be..."
The words released sound like a mere memory resonating in your head but you are proved wrong once you turn around.

Liar (Chapter VII)
Tumblr media
Genre: Angst
Warnings: None
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sun light coming in through the windows was what woke Jinyoung up.
He groaned, burying his face into the pillow as the hangover assaulted him. The pounding headache he had, made Jinyoung wish he could die right there so the pain would just dissapear and he could sleep forever. However, the wave of nausia that invaded his body without a previous warning made him run out of bed and straight into the bathroom. Jinyoung barely had time to kneel down and pull the lid up before throwing up.
"Dude! What the fuck!?" Bambam, who was in the shower, screamed as soon as he saw Jinyoung kneeling down, vomiting everything that had been in his stomach. "Why are you even here!?" Jinyoung raised his hand and Bambam didn't know if he was telling him to wait for answer or to fuck off. The poor guy was trapped in the shower, forced to hear how his friend vomited everything.
"Sorry" Jinyoung whispered, leaning back as he took deep breaths. He didn't feel like throwing up again but he still kept himself close to the toilet just in case. "I didn't think I would-" The male didn't have time to finish his sentence, he simply started throwing up again.
"Somebody get him out before I start throwing up too!" Bambam shouted in a mix of frustration and fear, he did not want to throw up on himself inside the shower. That would be so disgusting.
Some seconds later Jaebum peeked inside the bathroom finding a really sick and almost K.O. Jinyoung and a naked yet panicked Bambam in the shower. In normal circumstances he would have found the scenery before his eyes funny but with all the things going on with Jinyoung at the moment, Jaebum couldn't help but worry more about his friend and about you.
"Here" He handed him a glass of water and a couple of pills which Jinyoung ate in one gulp. He drank some of the water before sitting down and leaning his tired body against the wall. "Did you fight with (Y/N)?" It wouldn't be a surprise if that was the reason of him sleeping here, some of the other members had gone through that.
Jinyoung shrugged though. You technically didn't fight with him since it had been Jinyoung the one that snapped and decided to get out of the apartment before he would lose control of himself. "Not really" He said weakly, looking down as he shook his head. Jinyoung felt Jaebum's eyes on him making him sigh before he kept talking "It was my fault again" He ended up saying.
"Did you...Do it again?" Jinyoung frowned looking up at him, how did he know he was cheating? "I mean" Jaebum cleared his throat "Whatever it is you've been doing"
Jinyoung shook his head "I just got drunk and crashed here, came late enough to not run into Yugyeom" He replied and for the first time, he was being honest.
Jaebum looked away just in time to see Bambam covering himself with a towel before walking out of the bathroom, he knew this was a conversation he shouldn't listen to. The leader flushed the toilet and pulled the lid down, seating on it as he rested his elbows on his knees.
"Do you need to talk with somebody?" He asked, his voice sounded hesitant. Jaebum wasn't sure if he wanted to find out what Jinyoung had been doing even if deep down he knew the truth. He was cheating but what worried him the most was with who.
"I think I need to talk with (Y/N) first" He admitted sadly, staring down at the floor as he sat there. Jaebum nodded agreeing with him for the first time.
"That might be the best thing to do" He said quietly. Jaebum ran his fingers through his hair before he looked down at Jinyoung "Take it easy with her though. Those are not nice news and she is not in her best condition right now"
"Yeah" He nodded quietly, running his fingers through his head. Jinyoung leaned his head back against the wall, staring at the ceiling. "How funny" He scoffed closing his eyes "The best thing to do will be the death of me"
Jaebum looked down at him and sighed too "Well, it was you the one who signed your suicide sentence"
--------------------------------------------------
If it hadn't been for the wet sensation you felt underneath yourself you wouldn't have woken up. With a frown on your face the first thing you did was sit up with your hair being an absolute bird nest, your eyes were still closed avoiding the sunlight that was coming in through the windows. Then you reached up to touch your forehead, your frowning got even deeper when you realized you weren't sweating.
Why were the bed sheets wet though?
Your eyes opened up a little more as your hands reached back and caressed the back part of your neck but there wasn't any sweat drops on your skin. A shaky breath left your lips when your heart started beating slightly faster, you didn't dare to look down. That was the only place where the liquid could be coming from.
"Breathe" You told yourself as you looked around scared. What should you do? Was Jinyoung back already? "Babe!?" You shouted, trying to keep your voice as calm as possible since you didn't want to scared him if he was around. Seconds passed and you didn't got an answer, maybe he didn't hear you. "Jinyoung!?" You tried again, more desesperate this time but when you got no reply, you knew you were by yourself.
You started to panic.
Your hands shook even more as you reached down to pat your pants. A quiet whimper left your lips when your hand slid to your inner thigh and your pants were soaked, it was just in that area, like if you peed on yourself but it didn't stink so it wasn't that. Was something wrong with your kids?
"Calm down" You told yourself at the edge of tears, frantically looking around for your phone. You didn't even wanted to move scared of what could happen.
When you saw the device on your beside table, you quickly reached out to grab it. Tapping the right numbers had never been so difficult, your vision was absolutely blurried with tears as you marked Jinyoung's number since looking for it in the contact list seemed like a waste of time.
Now in the dorm's living room Jinyoung was sitting down, watching the television as he slowly ate a bowl of cereals that Youngjae had insisted him to eat. His phone started buzzing by his side, ready to see Sunhee's name and to snap at her Jinyoung grabbed the phone and picked up the call, however instead on Sunhee's whining he was met with your cries.
Jinyoung started to panic thinking you had found out by yourself.
"Baby?" He asked, his voice shaking as he stood up from the couch "(Y/N)? Why are you crying? What's wrong?" At the sound of his words the other members started poking their heads inside the living room, worried about your being.
"Jinyoung" You sobbed on the bed, holding the phone tightly against your ear "I...Woke up wet...And the bed is wet too...I don't know what it is..."
"Is it blood?" He said, he had stopped listening at the middle of the sentence too scared and confused. The rest of GOT7 got tense, scared as they carefully watched Jinyoung.
"There is no blood" You said looking down at your crotch seeing there was no blood in it "But it's not pee either"
"Call an ambulance" He said softly, reaching down for his jacket and putting it on without hanging up "It's going to be okay, we just need to get you to an hospital...I'll be there in five minutes" He muttered trying to calm you down when his core was shaking in fear inside "Don't move and wait for me there"
After saying those words Jinyoung cut the call and placed the phone back in his pocket, he was already reaching for the door knob to exit the dorms when the guys started asking questions.
"What's wrong with her?"
"Is she bleeding?"
"Did she call an ambulance?"
"Which hospital are they taking her to?"
Jinyoung didn't even know who was asking what and before somebody could stop him to get some answers he got out of the room and slammed the door behind him. He had never ran so fast, thanks to the endless days and nights full of tiring practicing hours Jinyoung stamina was pretty good. He ran through the streets, across crosswalks and pushed people out of the way to never stop his fast pace. The house he shared with you wasn't far from the dorms, he had chosen it to not be too far so he could spend every single night with you.
How ironic.
When he reached the apartment complex he didn't stop to take a breath and prepare himself to go up the stairs to the third floor, the elevator moved too slow for him. He started going up, going step after step and only fell down once, breaking his sweat pants and scratching his knee. He didn't realised he was bleeding as he went up and ran to your door. With shaky and nervous hands he opened the door and didn't even care to close it as he ran to the bedroom.
Stopping at the door, your eyes met and Jinyoung's world broke. Seeing you there on the bed , so fragile and scared by yourself was the punch in the guts he needed to realized there was something wrong. He should have been there by your side, Jinyoung should have been there to calm you down as soon as you found out something was happening.
But when you sobbed and weakly opened your arms for him to hug you. When the tears streamed down your face like waterfalls and when his eyes landed on your wet pants, Jinyoung felt the little oxygen he still had in his lungs leave him.
"Baby" He said breathless, stumbling into the room and finding his way into your arms. He felt dizzy, the pain in his chest being unbearable as you wrapped your arms around him and started crying scared. For your sake he used the only bit of sanity he had left to rub your back, running his fingers through your hair as he whispered sweet nothings into your ear. "It's going to be alright love, you're going to be alright" He whispered burying his face into your neck, holding you as tight as he could.
Both of you lost track of time and didn't even realized when the paramedics entered your apartment, finding the bedroom thanks to the loud sobs that were leaving your body. Jinyoung lifted you from the bed and carried you down the stairs into the ambulance, you were gripping his shirt so tight that your knuckles turned white, you basically were declining to let him go. However when you arrived to the hospital, the doctors forced you two apart before carrying your crying figure deeper into the hospital and leaving a scared and inconsolable Jinyoung behind.
Five minutes passed and Jinyoung had paced around the same room for the twentieth time, Jaebum and Jackson rushed into the waiting room first as it only took one more minute for the rest of the group to join him breathless.
"How is she?" Yugyeom was the first to break the silence between everybody, Jinyoung's desesperate eyes found him "Where is (Y/N)? What are the doctors doing to her?"
"I-I don't know" He replidd weakly, Jackson reached out in time to hold Jinyoung's weak body up before he could fall down.
"Yugyeom, let's sit down" Youngjae told him softly, guiding him to the seats and sitting down with him.
"The just took her inside Jackson, I don't know what's going on" Jinyoung muttered in Jackson's arms, crying all the tears he had to hold back infront of you.
"It's okay Jinyoung, she's going to be okay" He whispered worried, hugging him as he rubbed his back
"I really don't want to lose her" He replied gripping onto Jackson's hoodie tighter "She's my world"
--------------------------------------------------
When you regain conciousness the first thing you saw was a white ceiling. The curtains of the room must have been closed because it was slightly dark so the light couldn't bother you. Opening your mouth to speak, you winced when a small yet sharp pain met your throat, your mouth was too dry and needed some water before you could start making questions.
Your hands instantly reached down and when you felt the huge bump that was your swollen tummy your body visibly relaxed, your babies were still there and everything seemed to be fine. Slowly turning your head you saw a sleeping Jinyoung, his hand resting on the edge of your bed as if he could feel you had woken up just by touching the matress. Weakly, you grabbed his wrist gently, caressing his skin with your thumb to wake him.
Alarmed, Jinyoung snapped his eyes opened and looked down at you "You're awake..." He whispered standing up, looking into your eyes with a huge sense of relief "Are you okay? Does anything hurt? Do you need something?" You motioned to the glass of water on your bedside table. Jinyoung picked it up, placed a straw on it and helped you to drink it.
Once you were done, you felt your throat was hydratated enough to talk again "What happened? Did I get surgery?" You asked looking at Jinyoung, holding his hand softly as you still felt scared.
"You seem to be a tiny bit small to keep carrying the twins" Jinyoung explained looking down at you "There is not enough space and somebody not taking care of herself right made things worse" You looked down at your belly upset. It was true that you had gone to bed a bit later than usual to waig for Jinyoung or that you had skipped some meals to not end up throwing up but you hadn't expected it would turn into something so dangerous.
"A-Are they okay?" You asked touching your stomach, Jinyoung's smile and quiet nod made you relax.
"Doctor said you had to stay here for a couple of days since they want to keep an eye on the three of you" He touched your stomach too smiling brightly "They might get out sooner than we expected"
"Will they be okay though?" You still were worried, weren't they supposed to be inside you for one more month.
"Yeah, they wouldn't get them out if they weren't going to be"
Jinyoung watched you relax, leaning back against the bed with your eyes full of relief. However, he was as tense as ever, after being in such a scary situation Jinyoung wanted to tell you the teuth and stop lying. He didn't want to keep living like this.
"Baby listen" He said quietly, reaching out to grab your hand once again, squeezing it even tighter "I need to tell you something important" Nodding you squeezed his hand, Jinyoung took a deep breath and closed his eyes before he started speaking "I have been che-"
Just right then, the door slammed opened and a happy Youngjae and Jackson entered the room holding colorful balloons and flowers.
"How is our favorite girl in the world doing?"
Catching a Storm
Hi Guys! Finally Jai's new movie "Storm boy" has hit the cinemas! I have'nt seen it yet, but i've read the original story. Instantly it inspirated me for this fanfiction. I alternated a few things for the sake of the story, but i hope you still like it! As every writer i really appreciate feedback, so if you like, you can write me something! Now enjoy!
Tumblr media
After a nearly 10 hour ride, I left the bus, and carefully I put my Luggage down and took a look around: So this was the famous ninety-mile-beach. It was just beautiful out here at the Coorong. I walked the short distance to the little town named Goolwa where I had rented a small room.
Softly I knocked on the door in front of me. Just a minute later, an elderly Lady opened up. "Yes?" I smiled at her friendly." I'm sorry Ma'am, is this Shore Drive 125?" She nodded "Great, then you must be Miss Barnaby! My name is (Y/N), I've rented your spare room." Her face lightened up. "Oh yes, the teacher! Come in, love, come in! I'm so glad you're finally here." I took my luggage up again and followed her inside. She seemed to be around 80, and for that, she was very fast while going up the stairs. "This is your room, the bath is on the left. Breakfast is every morning at six, Dinner at five p.m., and I wait for no one! On weekends breakfast is at 10 o'clock. Oh, and this is an honorable house, so no men are allowed in your room. Sundays you accompany me to church. If you are going by these rules, we will be friends in no time!" I grinned. A real old-school Lady that she was. The rules were no problem for me, I was an early riser, tried to be on point always and had currently no interest in men. "The room is wonderful, Mrs. Barnaby, and I can assure you, that there will be no problems with me." she smiled at me wisely "Good. Now I'll let you sort your things and get a rest. I'll see you tomorrow." Before she got out of my door, she turned to me and smiled." I'm glad that you are here. The boy needs a gentle hand.... and maybe the father too." She was gone before I could say anything in return.
I sat down on the little desk in my room, took out the small Manila folder I had about said Boy and started to read:
Name: Michael Kingley
Born: March 16th, 1953
Parents: Tom Kingsley, fisherman
Jane Kingsley, seamstress, deceased
His father hides them on the Beach 20 miles from here since his wife and daughter died in an accident 6 years ago. He refused to send the boy to school, only occasionally coming to this town. The national child service became aware of the situation but declined to take away the child from his father due to the circumstances... at least for now. So I was sent down here.
Just graduated with a bachelor in teaching a few months ago, this was my first job. I was eager to teach the boy everything I could. How was the saying? If the Prophet can't come to the mountain, the mountain has to go to the prophet. And damn, this prophet wasn't easy to reach! I had to drive with the Bus for 30 minutes down the shore, then another 20 minutes with my bike to there little Shack. Tomorrow Mr. Wilbur, the town's Mayor would go with me to show me the way. I've asked myself if his father would let me teach him. He hid for a reason, and I was an outsider. But I was determined to do my first job right, I would teach that boy, one way or another!
7 o'clock sharp the next morning, Mr. Wilbur waited for me at the front door. He greeted me friendly, and we started our way. It wasn't as bad as I thought, just at lousy weather it might be a problem. Soon we spotted the little hut made of tin and old wood. Mr. Willbur sighed and told me, that Mr. Kingley wasn't very fond of visitors so he would take his leave now. He wished me luck, and suddenly I was on my own. I took a deep breath and knocked on the crocked door. A little boy with unruly blond hair opened the door just a bit. I smiled at him friendly "Hello, my name is (Y/N), you must be Mike?" shyly he looked at me "My Dad says I'm not allowed to talk to strangers." "And he's very right! Can I speak to him instead?" He pointed to the beach "Daddy is down there, repairing the net. But he doesn't like people" I still smiled at him. "That's ok, I just want to have a little chat with him. See you later Michael."
Down at the beach, I found his father quickly. When he saw me, his mood darkens instantly. "What do you want? I have no business with you!" Mr. Kingley turned around and got back to his nets. I stepped forward. "I know Sir, and I respect that... "He interrupted me "If you did, you would have already left!" I sighed, "Mr. Kingley, I'm here on behalf of your Son. I'm a teacher." Again he interrupted me "We don't need a teacher, I can show him everything he needs to know!" I sighed "I know you are, I'm just here to make sure he is up to par with the other kids his age." Now he became really agitated "I told you, we don't need your help. So I would appreciate it if you would leave my ground. NOW!" I instantly know that there was no sense in talking to him at this moment. So I said goodbye and left back to Goolwa.
Back in my room I slumped down on my Bed and rubbed my eyes. This would be a hell of a ride if Mr. Kingley would stay stubborn like this.
When I arrived at the hut next morning, I saw Mr. Kingley's boat laid still on the beach, so he seemed to be at home. I braced myself, set my spine straight and knocked on the door. Maybe he just had a bad day yesterday.
I know I was wrong the Moment the door opened. The angry eyes of Mr. Kingley focused on me "What do you want? Didn't I tell you to fuck off yesterday?" I brushed my wind-struck coat down and smiled at him "Sir, I'm here because of the National Child Service...." "I DON 'T CARE!" He screamed and nearly slammed the door into my face. I crunched my teeth, that's exactly what I was afraid of. But this woman was no one that gives up easily. Sitting down on the porch, I took out my schedule and started to write on it.
10 Minutes later Mr. Kingley came out, the little Boy in tow. I stood up. "Why are you so stubborn? Don't you want a better life for your son?" He looked at me angrily. "We have a good life! We don't need anyone, especially not a nosy young wannabe, who's trying to tell me how to live my life!" The boy clung to his father's leg, too afraid to even talk to me. Mr. Kingsley turned around and both left for the boat.
The next two weeks were pretty much the same. I arrived in the morning at their hut, he left with his son soon after, totally ignoring me. But I was persistent, determined not to screw up my first job. A few hours later he would return, going back into the Shack without even looking at me.
But one day, suddenly everything started to change. The weather was starting to get very bad, but it didn't stop me from coming to the beach. I sat down on my usual spot, looking at the shore. The wind blew hard in my face, and the rain soon soaked me to the bones. Shivering I hold on to my bag, I wouldn't let the weather beat me down, no way!
From time to time I saw the curtains on the window moving as if someone was looking out. He was stubborn, and so was I! Approximately half an hour later the door opened. Mr. Kingley grabbed my Arm, yanked me to my feet and dragged me inside. "Do you have a death wish woman?" He snarled into my face and placed me in front of a small fireplace. After draping a blanket over my shoulders, he left to another room. I used the time to let my eyes wander around the hut.
The main room had a small kitchen site, a table with two chairs, and a bench and a rocking chair in front of the fireplace. One door on the left and one on the right seemed to lead to the bedrooms. Just now I saw that one of the doors was open a bit and Mike peeked thru it. I smiled at him, but he closed the door instantly. Dragging the blanket closer around me, I went back to the fireplace.
Suddenly a door beside me slammed shut, and Mr. Kingley was back. "Take your clothes off!" I whipped my head to him in shock "Ex... excuse me?" He still stared at me. "I said, take your clothes off, you're catching a cold if you stay in your wet ones. I may not want you here, but I don't want to be responsible for your death either." In his hands he holds something. "The Bathroom is right there." He pointed to a door beside the fireplace. "You can wear this while your clothes are drying." Mr. Kingsley shoved the dress in my hands, and I walked to the said room.
The Bathroom was small but with an oven-heated tub. A water pump beside the hand basin was the only source for water. I took a towel from the rack and started undressing. The dress Mr. Kingley gave me was a bit small, but it would do for now.
Back at the main room, he had lit the fireplace up more. He eyed me with a wired look on his face when he saw me. "Sit down" He grunted. The fire was nice, and I felt my body getting warmer finally. A few minutes later Mr. Kingley gave me a cup with a steaming beverage. I thanked him and took the warm liquid to my lips. It burned down my throat, and I started to cough. Mr. Kingley chuckled. "Tea with a good shot of rum. Warms you internally" I nodded
thankfully 15 Minutes I felt a lot better. My host seems to prepare Lunch in the meanwhile. It looked like he was relatively relaxed, so I tried my luck again. "Sir, why are you so much against my help? I want nothing more than to teach your son." He slammed his hands on the counter. "I told you before, Miss, we don't want, and we don't need your help!" He looked angry at me and called his son "Michael, its time for Lunch!"
Mr. Kingley sats down in front of me on the other side of the table and started eating. Just a minute later Mike came out of his room and shyly took a seat beside his father. Soon his curiosity gets the better of him, and he crocked his head to the side. "Who are you?" His father scowled at him. "We don't need to know that, boy. The Lady will leave us soon." I decided that I would ignore his words this time and smiled. "Hi, my name is Miss (Y/N), I'm a teacher." His face lit up "0h, like in a school? I've read about that..." "Michael Kingley" his father roared and stood up. "I told you, we don't need, and we certainly don't want her help."
Now I was fed up too. I stood up straight. "Mr. Kingley, I'm not here because I want to, I'm here because of the NCS has an eye on you! I don't want you to lose the boy. Gimme a chance, I promise to interfere as less as possible" The once fuming father calmed down immediately when I talked about taking his child away. "You... you can't take him!" he gasped. I looked at him softly "No, but the NCS can, and I don't want that. Please, Sir, just four hours a day!" He blinked at me irritated "Oh, are we negotiating now? Ok, two hours!" I smiled and shook my head "Four!" "Not happening. Two and a half" I chuckled "I need one hour to come here, and one to get back again. This is too short. I can't train him properly in that short time!" He gritted his teeth "Three hours and not a second more! You bring all the material. And if you interfere with his chores, you will do them! You will be here every morning at seven sharp! Five minutes late, and there will be no class for the day. Did I make myself clear?" I grunted "crystal clear." Three hours later, my clothes where finally dry again. I changed back and let the dress run through my hands. Did it belong to Mr.Kingley's late wife? I left it in the bathroom. Mr. Kingley and the little boy stood beside the door when I was ready to leave. I gave the dress to the still slightly growling father. "Thank you, Mr. Kingley, for your hospitality, I really appreciate it." Then I looked at the boy. "And we will see each other tomorrow, young man!" He smiled at me big time, "I can't wait!" When I left the shack, the weather was slightly better than before. On my way back to my bike I suddenly saw an Aboriginal coming up from the dunes. He greeted me friendly "A good day Miss! Thank god the weather has become slightly better, right?" I nodded at him smiling "Yeah, I wouldn't know what to do if not" He crocked his head. "You are the teacher right?" I was stunned "How did you know?" I asked, and he chuckled "Tom told me about you. He was pretty angry about your arrival." I sighed "Believe me, I want nothing wrong from him...." the stopped me, holding his hands up. "I know Miss, I know. And I'm really glad, that are you here actually. Come with me, I'll tell you something...." One hour later, Bill had told me everything. How Mr. Kingley's wife and daughter had died in an accident, that the driver -probably drunk- has fled the site of the crash and couldn't be found and the police refused to search any longer after a year. Mr. Kingley was so angry, so disappointed, that he took his little 4-year-old son and left Adelaide "...till now, he has taught his son himself, and I know for sure he could do it further, but....." he hesitated a second and sighed. "My people believe that only a mother... a woman can teach life to a child. His father can show him to hunt, to fish, to provide for himself but not the emotional, the caring side of life." Bill looked at me nearly pleadingly. "The boy needs a womanly hand. Tom loves his son, no doubt, but he has so much to deal with that Mike sometimes comes a little short!"
My head was so spinning from all the Information as I was given. This was probably a much more difficult case than i thought. Bill smiled "Now, I let you go as your way, Miss. It was a pleasure to meet you" I smiled back and headed home. I laid awake most of the night and thought about what the Aboriginal man had told me. Then and there I decided not only to be a teacher for Mike but a friend as well!
