I'd be lying if I said I was sick of being haunted by you, it's satisfyingly romantic in an artistic movement sense of the word (which is probably why I've had it go on this long, certainly less about you in particular and more about the vibes), though I'll admit it's somewhat hard to know that to a degree, I'm haunted by a version of you that I don't know ever really existed

Red Curtain (Bang Yongguk/Smut)
A/N: The smut isn’t really the focus point on this one. It’s more about the build up and the feelings around it all. I really hope you guys enjoy and please leave feedback.
Tumblr media
tags: Burlesque, glittery costumes, Yongguk in a suit, Piano player! Yongguk, fist fights (vague), some old school 50′s romantic stuff, a day on the town and some sweet sweet love making
Word count: 8385 words (my too much gene happened)
His hand came up to adjust the cuff of his shirt sleeve, a small smile playing on his lips as he did so. Yongguk entered the club fearlessly and revelled in the sound of heavy bass filling his ears. He felt good.
It wasn’t often he got to indulge in evenings like this, being a hard worker he tended to just go home after a long day at work. But tonight he was feeling energetic and decided to treat himself to a show. The show his work buddies couldn’t seem to shut up about and he wanted to see for himself.
“Burlesque.” The word sounded funny in his mouth. It wasn’t a word he had ever really heard before, yet it seemed to be so incredibly popular. The club was full, men and women sitting and staring at the stage waiting for the next performance. Yongguk had no idea what to expect as he entered, but he was excited none the less.
Brushing past a waitress dressed in a corset, suspenders, thigh high stockings and high heels, he smiled at her gently. He was starting to feel a bit out of place and awkward. She was very pretty and when he took a look around to the other’s, he could see every woman there was beautiful. It was paradise on earth.
The club was filled with rich reds, heavy curtains keeping the stage hidden from the world before show time. The soft scent of perfume and alcohol filled the room and there was a soft chatter mixed with laughter. Groups of men with cigar’s sat at their tables close to the stage, waiting for the show to start. The band was sat in the corner of the stage playing a lively tune as an interlude to the rest of the evening’s events.
“Are you going to have a seat handsome?” The waitress returned to Yongguk and he felt a blush set on his cheeks. “Oh, yes here is fine.” He stuttered and she smiled at him, it was so obvious he was knew. The new ones always sat furthest away from the stage, not knowing what to expect. “Can I get you a drink?” She asked, leaning down to his level and Yongguk couldn’t help but swallow thickly at the close proximity of her cleavage. “Whiskey, please.” He said and she smiled, knowing the effect she had on men. All the woman here knew that they had that effect.
You especially knew you had that effect. Looking at yourself, you touched up your lipstick and added a little more powder to your nose. Intense smokey eyes, soft pink cheeks and red lips, the show was almost ready to start.
Slipping your satin robe off of your shoulder’s, the stage help moved to put your costume on and pulled the strings of your corset tightly. Watching as your waist cinched you couldn’t help but smile as you felt a rush of adrenaline course through your body. This was what you lived for.
You rolled your stockings over your legs, clipping them to the suspenders and you pulled your heels on. You were ready and you were excited to get back out there. Loving your job made work easier and your job made you feel incredibly special.
Yongguk tapped his fingers against the table in anticipation, the lights in the room had gone dim. He felt nervous listening to the drum roll as a spotlight shined on the red curtains. They opened with a dramatic trumpet sound filling the room and the watchers clapped.
The curtains pulled back to reveal two girls, each holding large feathered fans that were white and red. Yongguk could see that they were hiding someone, presumably the star of the show from the way the others looked at the stage anticipation. The girls holding the fans shook them along to the beat of the music before on lifted the top fan away, uncovering the face of possibly the most beautiful person Yongguk had ever seen.
You cheekily winked at the crowd as the fan lifted away from your face and made a surprised face as the fan closest to the ground lifted away, revealing your heel covered feet. Yongguk wasn’t nervous anymore, no he was intrigued. He leaned forward slightly, almost as if he wanted to get closer to the stage as the other fans lifted away from you completely. You were wearing a black sheer dressing gown, that fell down to the floor, embellished with red feathers on the ends of the sleeves and the lining of it.
You waved at the crowd cheekily, greeting the familiars in the club before waltzing your way over to the band on the other end of the stage. Yongguk was absolutely amazed watching you, smiling at your little gestures and feigned innocence as you acted for the crowd. You were absolutely captivating and he was starting to understand what the buzz was about.
He watched as you worked through your dance, swinging your hips to the music seductively and smiling as your fingers moved to the little silk belt holding your dressing gown together. You undid it slowly, not taking your eyes off the audience even once before revealling your glittering corset.
Yongguk was absolutely amazed, the way you revealed yourself with such confidence and the way you looked. The corset was red satin with black boning, little diamonds embellishing it and catching the stage lights. Your panties matched, red satin and black lace leaving very little to the imagination. A simple black garter belt held your stockings up and your heels were red, all very cohesive and all of his favorite colors.
The dressing gown slipped off of your shoulders and onto the ground and you winked before walking away from the band, back to center stage. Your back faced the audience and you shook your bum a little before going through your routine and slowly your corset came off.
Smiling softly, he propped his elbow up on the table watching as you moved to undo your corset. It almost felt like when you looked at the crowd you were making eye contact with him. Of course Yongguk knew that, that was insane but he admired the fact that you could make people feel that way. You threw the corset to the side, your chest now only being covered by a thin, black lace bra and you shook your chest slightly. Afterall, burlesque had some comedy to it. You smiled as the crowd laughed slightly. You lived to entertain.
To say that Yongguk was sad your performance ended was an understatement. You were his introduction to burlesque and he had seemingly fallen in love with you at first sight. Even though your performance was over, he stayed. He stayed and watched the other performances. They were all good as well, but you had stayed in his mind. Imprinted in the best way.
The final performance had ended and it felt like the evening only lasted 20 minutes in total, with how much he was enjoying himself. But in reality he had spent almost his whole night there. Looking at his watch and noticing it was 3 a.m and the club was closing.
“Have a good time handsome?” The waitress who had been serving him the entire night asked. “Oh, yeah I did.” She smiled softly at his answer and took his empty glass. “You’re a first timer. I can tell. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself.” She said and he turned pink. “Make sure you come back.” She added and he simply nodded, heading for the door. “I will.” He said shortly, smiling at her before leaving the club.
You yawned as you slipped your coat on, rubbing your eyes slightly as you pulled your regular shoes on. These heels were significantly shorter and your regular clothing was significantly less extravagent and sparkly. But you managed to keep your personality shining through, even with your shin length pencil skirt and oxford heels.
“Girls, I’ll be heading home now.” You told the other girls in the dressing room who were taking their makeup off and getting ready to leave. With a choir of  “Bye’s” and “See you later’s” you exited through the back door. You were greeted with the semi dark alley that you left through every work day. Moving to close your coat, you felt a hand on your hip and you jumped back in surprise.
“You were on stage earlier tonight.” The voice said and you turned to look at your agressor. He looked greasy, hair hanging over his eyes and breath reeking of alcohol. “Yes I was.” You smiled politely, just praying that your kindness would be enough to get the man to leave you be. He huffed, looking you up and down and disappointment was very visable on his face. “I should’ve known you’d be disappointing up close.” He said and his other hand came up, cupping your cheek. You cringed, his dirty hands touching your face was more than you could handle. “Please leave me alone.” You said, trying to move away from his touch and leave.
However, his hand came up and grabbed your arm. You were now pressed against the brick wall of the club and had nowhere to escape too. “You pretty things on stage are never what you say you are.” You couldn’t tell if he was angry and going to hurt you or just trying to scare you. But his face got really close to yours and his hands held you in place, you had no place to go once again. As his face got closer and closer, you closed your eyes not wanting to have any more visuals to this experience. Only to feel him getting ripped off of you and pushed to the concrete.
Your eyes flew open, confused as to what happened. Your agressor was now sprawled out on the ground, too drunk to stand back up after the forcefull blow he had received. You looked at the man standing over him, who had his fists clenched and one strand of his slicked back hair had fallen into his face.
“I hate cowards who sneak up on women and drink themselves to death.” His voice was incredibly deep, surprising you greatly as you stood still against the brick wall. The drunk finally pushed himself onto his feet and managed to scramble away, running as fast as he could. A coward indeed.
Your saviour looked at you, warm dark eyes scanning you over as you stood frozen. “He didn’t hurt you did he?” He asked and you shook your head no. He looked familiar, like you had seen him in the club that night. “Thank you.” Your voice was small and shakier than you cared to admit. “It’s no problem really.” Yongguk said and smiled, he would have done this for any woman, not just you. But the fact that he had helped you out made him feel even better.
You looked just as beautiful as you did on stage, even in your regular clothes and no makeup. Some stray glitter was scattered over your face, but it added a certain appeal in his opinion.
Yongguk stood up straight, adjusting his clothes slightly before nodding. “I’ll be going then. Please stay safe.” He said and moved to walk back down the exit of the alley. “Wait!” You called after him, scrambling to walk beside him. “Can I get your name and maybe buy you breakfast?” You asked, a small hopefull smile in your face. You wanted him to say yes, you wanted to thank him.
Yongguk stopped and turned to look at you. However he had to look away quickly, feeling shy under your gaze. “Uhm, my name’s Yongguk and yes you can buy me breakfast.” He said softly and finally locked eyes with you. “It’s nice to meet you, Yongguk.” You said and stuck your hand out for him to shake. “I’m Y/N.”
You couldn’t help but look Yongguk over as you sat across from eachother in the diner. He was incredibly handsome. Warm eyes, attractive face and an incredibly deep voice. He was wearing a simple suit, showing that he was a working man and had slight bags under his eyes. But none of these features stifled how attractive he was, especially as he drank his coffee slowly.
It’s was 4 a.m and your local diner was serving breakfast for the early bird workers. It was a place you often came after work for a nice cup of coffee before heading home. Today wasn’t any different, only now you had a guest.
“You look familiar.” You said and he looked at you with wide eyes. He cleared his throat and wiped his lips with his napkin before replying. “I was at the club last night, I was leaving when I spotted what was happening in the alley.” His words surprised you, you had never seen him at the club before. You grabbed your own mug, taking a sip of your coffee gingerly because it was too hot and maybe because you wanted to leave a good impression on him.
“I’d never been there before.” Yongguk started, not looking at you again. His ears and cheeks were tinted pink in embarrassment as he spoke. “But you were my favorite performer tonight. Not just to be shameless.” He said and you couldn’t help but blush yourself. Sure, you had been complimented on your performances outside of the club. However this seemed so genuine.
“I’m glad you had a good time.” You said softly with a little laugh. Yongguk noticed his compliment flustered you and he thought it was cute as your cheeks turned pink. The waitress came by and placed your food infront of you and smiled greatfully. You never realised how hungry you were after work until food was placed in front of you.
“Now, I’m probably going to shatter that lovely image you have of me on stage here. But I am absolutely starving so I am not going to hold back.” You said and listened as his laugh filled your ears. In that moment, you decided that his laugh might have been the best you had ever heard.
“Please enjoy your food. You worked hard last night.” He said and you smiled before digging into your eggs. Yongguk watched before starting to eat himself. You had seemed so unreal the night before. As if you were almost a figment of his imagination, yet here you were, sharing a breakfast with him.
“So it seems you know a little bit about me. Tell me about yourself, what do you do? What are your passions?” You asked, genuinely interested in him. This meeting was unconventional but it made you seem almost more relaxed with him. “interesting choice in questions.” Yongguk stated and you smiled cheekily. You propped your head up on your hand and looked at him intently. “I’m curious about you.” You told him and meaning it completely.
He didn’t know how to respond at first, but mentally cursed his cheeks and ears for giving his emotions away. He was also confused as to why you were curious about him, in his own eyes he seemed horribly average.
“I work in an office. A 9 to 5 job, every week day.” Yongguk said, trying to hide the hatred for his work. It was never something he wanted to do, but it was the encouraged choice. “Ah, but your work is not what you’re passionate about.” You stated, taking a bite of your toast. It was quite evident in his voice that his job was simply a way to make money. “You’re right. It’s not. But I work hard. I’m steady, sometimes that’s better than exploring your passions.” He said and he sounded unhappy. You frowned, allowing your hand to reach out to his. “Stability is nice. But happiness is even better. What brings you joy?” You wanted to provide comfort for him.
“I like music.” Yongguk confessed softly, looking at your hand that was on his. “I love music. I love playing the piano.” You couldn’t hide your smile at all as it stretched over your face. You grabbed his hand and examined his fingers. “These seem like piano playing fingers.” You commented, running your own fingers over his skin. “They seem like skilled piano playing fingers.” You corrected, listening to his stifled laughter. You looked up from his hand and into his eyes. “I’d love to hear you play.” You told him and released his hand. He felt like he was back in school, staring at that girl he used to like. He felt giddy.
The rest of your breakfast was pretty silent, general small talk and light laughter. Yongguk found himself absentmindedly looking at you, you seemed to bring your elegance and quirkiness that you had on stage with you everywhere you went. He could tell you loved your job and he couldn’t help but wonder what that was like.
You exited the diner together and the city was now waking up. It was 5 in the morning and as tired as you were before, you felt full of life again. Yongguk was a breath of fresh air to you.
“Thank you again for helping me out.” You told him, smiling softly. You didn’t really want this to end, you were having a good time. “It’s really not a big deal. any decent person would have. Thank you for breakfast.” He thanked you, bowing slightly. That was when you had a thought that made you smile a little brighter.
“Do you have some more time?” You sounded eager, a little more eager than you would have liked. But it had been a while since you had had the company of anyone outside of work in a while and this was just really nice.
He froze for a moment, thinking about the fact that he hadn’t gotten any sleep. However Yongguk realised he had fallen into a pattern a weekly pattern, a monthly pattern even. Today was as good of a day as any to break that pattern in his opinion.
“I have all the time in the world.” He smiled at you and you felt butterflies in your stomach. “Good. I want to show you something.” You said and grabbed his hand. He felt his heart pounding in his chest at the sudden contact, completely flustered and nervous. “What do you want to show me?” He asked, walking with you as you pulled him along. “A place to think. A place to take a deep breath.” You simply responded, not wanting to give away too much. Your mother always told you men liked a woman with an air of mystery to them. However your mother also always said that you shouldn’t take your clothes off on a stage.
Picking and choosing between your mothers’ advice was a talent of yours.
With every step you both took it seemed like the world was waking up a little more. You dodged cars as you crossed the street, waved to people you recognized and held Yongguk’s hand tightly as you pulled him towards your safe spot.
“Okay now just climb up here.” You said and looped around the back of a tall building. Yongguk was confused, quiet as you let his hand go climb up a fire escape. He could tell you were close to the harbor, the sounds of freighter ships and water being incredibly loud. “I’m-” He was going to say confused before you started laughing and pushing your hair out of your face. The action itself was simple, but just so attractive in his eyes. “I realise I sound crazy. But trust me. It’s the best view in the city... or maybe just my favorite view in the city.” You corrected yourself and noticed Yongguk just looking at you.
“If it’s your favorite view in the city, it must be the best. Let’s go.” His words were warm and comforting, making you feel all warm and mushy inside. You watched him as he started climbing up the fire escape, going first because you were wearing a skirt and even though he had seen you in lingerie before, you still had modesty.
You both reached the top, Yongguk helping you up onto the roof by lending you a hand. His other hand held your waist carefully to steady you and for a split second, or what seemed like a split second, your eyes were locked. You pulled away, swallowing thickly. Many men had approached you, especially men who came to the club. However Yongguk was different. He was shy and he was considerate and not as straightforward. It had a much better appeal than others.
“So this is the best view in the city.” Yongguk said and looked out at the water. You couldn’t help but blush, this was your spot and you had now exposed it to criticism. Yongguk placed his hands into his pockets as he stared out. The sun light reflected off the waves and big ships were on the horizon.
“The ships, remind me of people.” You started, moving to stand next to Yongguk and stare out over the water. “They have a schedule. They travel hours to do their jobs and then they go back, or where ever they are ordered to go. They make less noise than people though.” You said with a little laugh at your explanation. Yongguk understood what you meant, however poorly expressed it was. “I’m sorry that makes no sense.” You quickly said when your words were met with silence.
“No, I understand. Even with the colorfull explanation.” He laughed before pausing again. “It seems like you like your job.” He commented with a carefull tone. “I do. I love my job. But you can’t help but wonder about other career choices. After all beauty fades.” Your words came off sadder then you intended and you kicked your heel against the ground.
“No beauty doesn’t fade. Especially not a beauty like yours. Your personality is half the charm.” Yongguk said and you laughed. You knew it was just a poor choice of words and you could take a joke. “Are you saying I’m not visually beautiful?” You asked through laughs. Yongguk’s eyes went wide with panic and he frantically tried to think of what to say, stuttering a few syllables. “Calm down, sir. I’m only joking.” You said, looking away from him and out to the ships again.
Yongguk sighed in relief, starting to laugh a little himself. He hadn’t flirted with someone in a while, it seemed he had lost his way with words.
Leaning slightly, you nudged him to get his attention. “Thank you.” You looked at him, your eyes glittering as the sun caught them. “I’m glad you understood what I meant. I saw you tonight for the first time ever. Your personality carries into your everyday life. Even if I never see you again after today, I know I’ll remember you.” His words almost made you tear up. Being memorable wasn’t something you ever truly strived for, but it meant a lot that someone you had just met saw something in you.
“I bet you say that to all the girls.” You joked, trying to hide just how deep his words hit you, in a positive way. “Actually this is the longest I have been with one in a long time.” Yongguk was embarrassed but he felt the need to be honest with you.
It seemed the roles had changed and now Yongguk grabbed your hand. “My turn to show you something.” He said and pulled you along.
The city was fully awake now, the sidewalk alot harder to maneuver but you and Yongguk managed. His hand never let go of you once, but he still clearly lead the way and cleared the path for you to make it through easily. It was a simple gesture, but a sweet one none the less.
So now you both stood in the train station. “Now, now, now. I just met you sir. I don’t think I’m ready to go away with you.” Yongguk laughed at your joke, his fingers lacing with yours. “No, this is what I wanted to show you.” He gestured to the people waiting on the platforms, the people buying their tickets and people running to catch their trains.
“I like coming here when I need to think. Like you with your ships. These people are all on schedule to do things and come back. Almost everyone experiences the same things in life, yet the stories are always different. It’s nice to think I’m not the only one who feels this way.” Yongguk explained and you felt your heart lurch forward.
Never in your whole life had you made a connection this deep with someone so quickly and Yongguk felt the same.
“Yongguk.” Your voice was soft as you said his name. You continued to look at the people as he hummed in response. “You need to stop making me fall in love so fast. I think it’s giving me whiplash.” You admitted and a pitifull sight caught your eyes.
His chest tightened with an overwhelming feeling and a wave of emotions. Turning to look at you, he noticed your attention was on a couple in the station. The girl’s luggage was in her hand as she held her lover close. Tears streaming down her face as they said goodbye to eachother.
“It’s sad, I wonder if she’s leaving for good.” Yongguk thought out loud and you smiled softly. “It’s always sad seeing love being pulled apart.” You squeezed his hand softly. “But being pulled apart at least means they got together in the first place.” You were adding on to eachother’s sentences and you felt like a school girl with her crush.
The sound of piano filling the station distracted you from your thoughts and you turned your head to look at the source. In the corner of the station, a man sat at a piano to entertain the people waiting.
“Seems like I’ll be hearing you play sooner than I thought.” You said and Yongguk looked at you with a raised brow. “What?” He asked and you ignored his question, walking off into the direction of the piano.
Yongguk stood frozen as he watched you walk away and towards the pianist. You tapped the man’s shoulder and the music stopped as he looked at you. You were talking, a beautiful smile over your face as you gestured to Yongguk. The pianist nodded and stood up from his bench and you smiled even brighter. Making eye contact with Yongguk, you gestured for him to come over.
He felt a big wave of nerves as he approached the piano, knowing you meant for him to play. “You’re crazy, you know.” He told you before bowing and saying hello to the pianist. “So I’ve been told. Now sit and play. Blow me away.” You said and pushed him towards the bench. Yongguk took a deep breath as he sat, not only would he now be playing for you but for a train station filled with people.
He had made the choice that today would be great day to break pattern, boy had he under estimated how much he would actually be breaking his pattern.
You sat down next to him on the bench, shoulders touching and your leg touching his. You were watching his finger’s intently as they decided what to play and you couldn’t help but admire his hands. It felt like your brain went into the gutter as you did so, imagining his hands touching your skin. But thankfully, the notes that started playing snapped you out of your thoughts.
His touches on the key were light, yet they created a beautiful tune. It was a light and airy song, something different than the heavy songs that were playing in the club all the time.
You simply watched as his fingers danced over the keys and you leaned over, resting your head on his shoulder. Yongguk was a blushing mess before this but this really elevated it all. But he felt good, he hadn’t played for people in a long time, but it was so nice to him. He wanted to do this forever, he was passionate about it.
He continued to play, people now standing to watch the pianist. Not a large group but enough to make you smile at the small gesture of appreciation. Yongguk however refused to look up from the keys, in the fear that he would mess up before his song was over. Turning your head, you watch his face. Concentration was all over it but there was a small smile playing on his lips. He was enjoying this.
He finished and you lifted your head from his shoulder with a proud smile. The people watching clapped lightly and he felt his cheeks turn beet red.
“That was beautiful. It seemed like you enjoyed it too. I know I did.” You said, eyes staring into his. Now Yongguk was going through a mental debate. He was so happy could kiss you and your lips were so horribly inviting. But it was so soon, he had just met you.
Your faces were close and his breath fanned over your lips. “I- I’m really glad I went to your show last night.” Yongguk said and you nodded. “I’m glad too.” You said and stood up from the bench. Thanking the pianist, you left with Yongguk in tow.
No that the moment was over, Yongguk felt silly for not taking the chance. Especially seeing you walk in front of him, he was wondering what was next because now, now he was in and he didn’t want this day to end.
Yongguk grabbed your hand, making you turn around and collide with his chest. “Hello.” You said in surprise as your free hand pressed against his chest to brace yourself. “I’m breaking my pattern today.” Yongguk started, words shaking slightly as his eyes flickered down to your lips. “Okay.” You responded softly and waited for him to finish what he was saying. His eyes flickered down to your lips again and you caught on. “If you want to kiss me, you don’t have to ask.” You smiled, your hand slowly moving up his chest to wrap your arm around his neck. His eyes widened at your words and how you seemingly managed to read his mind.
Leaning forward, his lips met yours and you smiled against him. How this felt so right confused you, but sometimes things just don’t make sense and this was one of them.
Your fingers played with the hairs on the back of his neck as your lips moved against his. His hand released yours and moved to wrap around your waist and pull you against him tighter. This felt so right and Yongguk was regretting nothing about his day. Even though it was a very long one.
Humming against his lips, you pulled away and took a deep breath. It really was like a scene in a movie to those who didn’t know what was going on. Even for you, it felt unreal. Especially when he pressed his forehead to yours.
“Why am I so comfortable with you?” He asked, feeling so utterly confused at his emotions. “I don’t know but I feel the same way.” Your hand moved again as you spoke, now caressing his cheek lightly and moving to his lips. You ran your thumb over them and bit your bottom lip slightly. This man was singlehandedly the most attractive man you had ever come across, not only physically but intellectually.
Watching you bite your bottom lip brought him back to seeing you on stage. Only this was better, this wasn’t a show, this was all for him.
Leaning forward, you burried your face into his chest. There was comfortable silence surrounding you both even though you were in a highly crowded train station. As you inhaled his scent, the mix of coffee and whiskey from the night before, you realised how tired you were. Feeling so safe and comfortable allowed your body to relax and exhaustion was setting in. However the yawn you felt bubbling up stressed you out, you didn’t want to think you were tired of him.
As you yawned, Yongguk laughed and looked at you. “It’s been a long day for you too hasn’t it?” He asked, no judgement in his voice and no assumptions about your feelings. “Yeah it has, I’m really sorry. I’m having such a good time.” You said and pecked his lips again, maybe to prove a point but also because you wanted too. “The good time doesn’t have to end. I live nearby, if you would like to lay down... I realise how straight forward this is.” Yongguk rambled making you giggle. It was straight forward and you understood he didn’t mean any harm to it.
“Yeah it is straightforward. But you’ve seen me in lingerie. It doesn’t get much more straight forward than that.” Yongguk instantly turned pink at your words and you stifled a laugh. You weren’t wrong and he knew that. Grabbing your hand, he remained silent as he tugged you towards the exit and the laughter you were holding in escaped you.
He wasn’t kidding when he said he lived nearby. Only really needing to turn a few street corners before reaching his apartment building. Yongguk seemed humble of his home. It was a small apartment on the third floor of a grungey brick building but you admired it. It was simple and it suited him. You yourself didn’t live large either, being an entertainer didn’t make you as much as you would have liked. Your apartment looked quite similar to this, maybe a bit more color around but the size was similar. It was homey none the less.
Yongguk had hardly looked up from the floor since you entered his home, he was debating why he suggested this in the first place. His home was small and he considered you to be quite glamorous and thought your home would be incredibly extravagent.
“Your apartment looks a lot like mine.” You said and looked around with a smile. Yongguk finally looked up, surprised at you words and now feeling a lot more comfortable. “Let me take your coat.” He quickly said and realised he had lost his manners a little. “Oh, thank you.” You said as he stood behind you, slipping your jacket off of your shoulders. The action was simple, but so undeniably sexy to him and when you ran your fingers through your hair after, he couldn’t help but swallow thickly.
Your heels clicked on the floor as you took a step forward, adjusting your blouse and pencil skirt. You weren’t nervous and you weren’t as tired as you were not half an hour ago. Possibly you got your second wind, or when you turned and saw Yongguk rolling his button up’s sleeves something inside of you gave you new energy.
“I can make some coffee if you want, or if you want to lay down you can.” He said softly, walking towards you. He was sweet, that was for sure. Once he was in arms length, you took his shirt between your fingers and pulled him even closer. Then you noticed the tattoo on his lower arm, tattoos weren’t a common thing and this made him even more special.
Allowing your fingers to trace over the lines, your other arm wrapped around the back of his neck. Yongguk was just watching you, fascinated with the way you were fascinated by him. “Do you have anymore?” You asked, finally looking up and in his eyes. His tongue swiped over his bottom lip before he nodded. “A few.” He said, eyes not leaving yours. He was so intriguing to you, and the sexual tension had grown instantaneously.
Yongguk’s lips found yours, alot needier than before and it caught you off guard. But you definitely didn’t mind, your hands moving up his body and tangling into his hair. His hands held your waist, tugging you closer to him to feel your chest press against his. The action was confident and it made you moan against his lips. His grip on your waist tightened as he was trying to decide if he could let his hands roam your body, still not incredibly sure how far this was going to go.
Your tongue swiped over his bottom lip and you tugged his hair slightly. His breath hitched in his throat in reaction, causing a low groan to escape him. The sound instantly fueled the heat that was forming between your legs and you decided, you wanted to hear that sound again.
Moving your lips down to his jaw, his hold on your waist tightened further as he sighed. “I want to see them.” You started, kissing his jaw lightly. “Your other tattoos.” You added on and he moaned as you nipped his skin lightly.
“Fuck.” He mumbled under his breath, grabbing your hand and tugging you further into his home. You stumbled lightly as he did so and pulled you into his bedroom.
His kiss was even more unexpected now, catching you by surprise and moving you back against his wall. Yongguk felt addicted to the feeling of your lips on his, it was like they were made for him and he couldn’t get enough. Your kisses were sloppy, teeth clashing slightly and so horribly intoxicating.
Your hands moved to the collar of his shirt, fumbling with his tie and trying to get it undone. Laughing as you couldn’t manage to do it without looking. Yongguk pulled his lips away from yours and you could focus on the work your fingers were doing. He smiled, the action being incredibly sweet and clumsy and it was such a nice contrast to the hot and heavy.
“Darn things.” You said as you finally got it loose, tossing it to the side. You sighed in relief and he started laughing, finding the whole thing horribly endearing. Pushing yourself off of the wall, you moved towards his bed and looked back at him with a coy smile.
This was different than how teasing happened on stage. Burlesque was all about the show never more than that.
His hand came around to your front, resting just under your breast as his palm flattened against the fabric of your shirt. Your back now pressing to his chest and his other hand moved your hair to the side. Yongguk leaned down, kissing the side of your neck and taking his time to make a mark. Generally your job wouldn’t have allowed the marks but you had never had a problem following this rule. Breaking the rules was good every once in a while, especially when it felt so right.
Your hand moved to his own that was on your torso. Grabbing it, you moved it up and allowed him to cup your breast. Yongguk moaned into your neck and he massaged your breast lightly. His lips moved to your ear and goosebumps covered your skin. “Do you have any tattoos for me to find?” He asked, his fingers moving to the buttons of your blouse. His fingers were notably more nimble than yours as he undid them all swiftly, untucking your shirt from your skirt. Pianist fingers most definitely.
His hands started exploring the new skin, revelling how soft it was between his rough fingers. You sighed in enjoyment, your head rolling back to rest on his shoulder. “Yongguk-” You sighed, feeling his finger tips graze over your nipples.
Not being able to handle it anymore, you turned in his arms and slipped your blouse off of your shoulders and onto the floor. Yongguk thought you were even more beautiful like this. Your underwear wasn’t extravagent like your stage outfit, simple white bra covering your chest. Yongguk hummed in approval at the sight of you up close.
You reached the last buttons, smiling at the large chest tattoo you had revealed. “This is beautiful.” You said softly, tracing your fingers over the intricate design. Yongguk could feel goosebumps coating his skin especially as you pushed the clothing off of his shoulders. You smiled up at him before capturing his lips for another kiss.
His hands made quick work of your bra as you kissed, not wanting to waste any more time and wanting to explore your body as much as he could. After your bra, your skirt soon followed and fell to the floor. It left you almost completely bare to him.
But you weren’t uncomfortable or shy or feeling odd at all. You had met this man today and you weren’t scared of a thing.
“I was hoping to find a tattoo.” He said and you held back a laugh. “Sorry to disappoint you.” You said and let out a small squeal as he pushed you back onto the bed. “You haven’t disappointed me this far. I’ll let this slide.” He joked while crawling over you. “What a relief.” You responded, enjoying how light hearted this whole situation was.
He settled inbetween your legs and started leaving open mouthed kisses over your chest. Your fingers tangled in his hair, tugging and moving him where you wanted him. Yongguk didn’t mind at all, he loved that you weren’t afraid to direct him where you wanted him.
The trail of kisses lead to your nipple and he wrapped his lips around the nub gentley. He was listening intently to your sighs and his fingers danced over your stomach, gradually going lower and lower. Tracing over the lace of your panties, he moved them to the side. You were practically shivering with anticipation at his actions, your grip on his hair tightening.
His index finger swiped over your slit, teasing you a little. After all teasing was half the fun. Your breaths were shaky and even more so as he slowly slipped a finger into you, curling it antagonizingly slow. You were starting to get frustrated and Yongguk could tell, his eyes being trained on your expressions.
“You’re impatient.” He commented and placed a kiss on your skin. “Only a little.” You said, stopping your comment with a gasp as he added another finger. “I’m used to getting what I want.” You finished, pulling his lips up to yours. The pace of his fingers gradually increased, leaving you tetering on the edge.
Yongguk’s lips teased you, lightly grazing over your jaw as your sounds progressed. He didn’t want to stifle any of them, he was enjoying them far too much. He was also enjoying the feeling of you tightening around his fingers. You gripped the sheets with your other hand, feeling your orgasm fast approaching. It was so intense, making your toes curls and your breath get caught in your throat as you were thrown over the edge. He simply watched, curling his fingers to ride it all out and to prolong this beautiful sight.
Your legs closed on instinct and your curled into Yongguk. He was smiling petting your hair as you came down from your high. You moved your hand, palming him through his pants and feeling the need to return the favor. He helped you push the clothing down his legs, taking his underwear with it. You bit your lip at the sight of him laying proud against his stomach, before reaching for his cock.
You stroked him softly as you laced kisses over his chest tattoo, running your lips over the flesh. Moving to his neck, you paused and looked at him. His eyes were shut, long eyelashes seemingly stretching for miles and soft sighs came out of his mouth. “Can I leave marks?” You asked, kissing his neck lightly, You didn’t want to possibly get him in trouble. “Yes please.” He said, the words coming out more as a beg as your hand picked up speed.
Smiling, you got to work adding your own personal artwork to his body. Moving all around his neck, small purple marks started to bloom. You might have been overly proud but he really did look like a piece of art in your eyes.
Your thumb swiped over his slit, making a small growl almost leave him. Yongguk’s eyes fluttered open before stopping your hand with his own and looking at you. “I want to be inside of you.” His words were low and hushed as his hips bucked slightly. Nodding, you pulled him to lay over you and wrapped your arms around his neck.
“If that’s what you want.” You paused, kissing his lips and resuming your sentence. “Who am I to deny that?” Yongguk loved the way you spoke, the way you teased him and the way you kept him on his toes, this situation wasn’t any different than earlier on in the day.
Lining himself up with your core, you took a deep breath and let your fingers play with the hairs on the back of his neck. Your legs instinctively wrapped around his waist as he pushed in to you and you let out a sigh at the pressure. Yongguk released the deep groans he had been holding in when he felt your tight walls swallowing him. He hadn’t expected you to feel this good or this tight. His hands moved to your thighs and gripping the flesh when he bottomed out completely.
However he wasted no time fucking into you. His hips taking over before his mind really could. Your nails raked down his back at the sudden wave of pleasure coursing through your body. It felt like your nerves were on fire and everywhere he touched left a flame in it’s wake. It was all so intense, even his face burrying in the crook of your neck.
As he picked up the speed, he hit your sweet spot catching you off guard and making you let out a small scream. “Oh, right there.” You said, holding him down against your chest. Yongguk was letting out the most beautiful sounds by your ear, moaning as he felt your walls flutter around him. Picking up the speed a bit more, the room was now filled with the sound of skin on skin and your moans.
The sun was pouring into his bedroom, it was hardly 1 in the afternoon and anyone one of his neighbors could hear you both. In all honesty, you both could have cared less. In that moment, the only thing that mattered was how you both felt.
“I’m so close.” You whimpered and he lifted his head from your neck. Your eyes locked as his hand rubbed core lightly, knowing you might the little extra push to reach your climax. He himself was close too, refraining from holding your hips down and fucking you into the mattress.
A loud moan tore from you, only to be silenced by his lips pressing against yours. Your orgasm tore through you, leaving your body in tremors as Yongguk strived for his own release. Holding him close, you slowly started to feel overstimulated and your legs shook around his waist.
“Fuckkk.” He groaned against your lips pulling out of to finish on your abdomen. The gutteral moans that left him were absolute music to your ears as you watched him come undone on you.
He sat up straight for a moment and the room was in complete silence. His chest rose and fell deeply as you both caught your breath. You watched him, admiring his little details as you let your body relax.
Finally opening his eyes again, he looked at you. Taking note of your swollen lips, red tinted cheeks and small marks gracing your skin.
“You’re so beautiful.” He said softly, leaning over you again to place a soft kiss on your lips. “Let me clean us up.” You nodded at his words, trying to resist the horrible sleepy feeling you were experiencing. Watching him disappear to another room, your eyes fell shut. Mentally claiming you were only closing them for a moment. However when your eyes opened again, 10 minutes had passed and Yongguk had cleaned you up, slipping his button up onto you after. An arm was wrapped around you loosely and his light snoring had filled the room.
It was only logical how tired and drained you were feeling. You had been awake for almost 24 hours and it had finally hit you both. Threading your fingers through his hair lightly, you couldn’t help but smile.
“Do you have to work tonight?” His voice surprised you, considering you thought he was asleep. “Yes I do.” You answered and watched his eyes slowly open. Pulling you into him more, Yongguk held you tightly.
“I’m aware I sound like an absolute mad man. But I haven’t met anyone like you. I want to keep you, I want to love you.” He admitted to himself. Yongguk meant it, never had he had a connection with anyone like this. His previous relationships never reached the level of passion you both had reached within a few hours.
Even though your mind was tired, your brain could still register his words. Oh how sweet they were. You had to look away from him for a moment, resisting the urge to spill tears. “I want to keep you, I want to love you too.” You said softly wiping your eyes as you turned to look at him again.
His smile was so beautiful and it was what you were met with when you faced him again. “You’re beautiful on stage, but so much more beautiful like this.” His compliments were too much really, however you revelled in them. You felt like you were glowing.
“Come to my show tonight.” You said softly, wanting him near you always. Yongguk looked at you with a soft expression and you almost felt shy under his gaze. “I’ll come to all of your shows if it means I get to love you.” He smiled and it was horribly cheesy yet it tugged your heartstrings immensly. Laughing slightly, you kissed him suddenly.
“Please do, as long as you remember that I’m the on behind the red curtain.”

Must be the Summer Heat (That Gives Her That Glow) | Branjie
Summary: This is a continuation of this drabble that ended up being a oneshot. There were six individual requests for a follow up and also a recent prompt for Nina playing Vanjie in snatch game. Enjoy!
-
The All Stars Six cast had entered the workroom for the first day of the third episode. Everyone was in good spirits, relieved to have survived the first two eliminations.
Brooke Lynn and Vanessa, specifically, were happy to have narrowly avoided outing their relationship. It would have been embarrassing to have blown their cover in week one, especially since their official reconciliation was – as Vanessa had put it the first time around – fresh out the womb. In fact, they had only concretely confirmed their status to each other a week before arriving on set.
Maybe they would have better luck convincing literally anyone that they were ‘just friends’ if they had time to work out a story beforehand – they were as bad at improv as they were at any other type of acting. Winging it, they supposed, was all they could do.
This week’s challenge was the Snatch Game – something everyone saw as either a chance at further success or, for people like Brooke Lynn and Vanessa – a chance at redemption. It didn’t take long after the announcement for everyone to rush to their stations and get right into preparations.
“Who are you gonna do, Nina?” Brooke Lynn asked as he brushed out the wig that he was planning on wearing.
“Well, I’ll tell you who I’m gonna do…” Nina spoke in her ‘Vanjie’ impression, immediately making everyone laugh, “You know, hopefully it’ll go over better than Roxxxy’s Alaska impersonation, but I think my Vanjie-isms are on point,” he explained in his normal voice.
Vanessa arched his brow and laughed. “Ima be watching you, bitch. Tread lightly,” he warned, scribbling potential jokes and one-liners for his own character, shifting nervously as he tried to prepare. Clearly his stress was starting to show as he realized Brooke had made his way to his table with a concerned expression.
Brooke Lynn put his hand on Vanessa’s shoulder and squeezed lightly. “How’re you holding up, Vanj?” he asked gently, sitting beside him. “You feeling more confident this time around?” he asked, despite knowing the answer.
“Not as much as I should be,” Vanessa confessed quietly, resting his head on Brooke’s shoulder. “This is the shit I still struggle with, you know? I know Ru and everyone else are gonna be looking at me to see how I do. Guess I’m preaching to the choir, but you got some redemption already,” he mused.
He wasn’t wrong, Brooke Lynn knew that as much as Vanessa did. “I know, believe me, I get it. Last time was rough for both of us. But you’ve grown so much, and everyone’s rooting for you no matter what,” he told him. “Besides, you’re too much of a fan favorite to go home this early,” he teased.
Vanessa laughed, sniffling a little. “Thanks, Brooke. I don’t know what I’d do without you,” he hugged him before Brooke Lynn returned to his station. He could do this, he thought. He just needed to get out of his head.
When it came time to play the game itself, everyone’s nerves appeared to have subsided for the time being – the most important thing was making RuPaul laugh however they could get him to.
One act that stood out, unsurprisingly, was Nina, who was able to mimic Vanessa’s mannerisms and vocal inflictions almost to a T. It was almost enough to make Vanessa break character at a few different points.
At one point in the game, RuPaul asked Nina in character if he had been staying in touch with the other season eleven queens, to which he answered, “Yeah, you know, I still got my Dream Girls. And between you and me mama, I ain’t been kicking Brooke Lynn out of bed either.”
Ru and the two contestants laughed heartily at that. “Oh really?” he egged him to go on – this was almost as good as getting a confession from Vanessa himself.
“Listen, what happens on tour stays in the hotel rooms. And the dressing rooms. And sometimes the bus when we thought everyone was asleep,” Nina continued, having all but forgotten that Vanessa and Brooke Lynn were both on the same panel, staring at him incredulously. ----------
“Hey Nina,” Asia called out to him while they were getting ready for the runway. “If you get into the top two and win the lipsync, are you gonna split that ten grand with Vanjie? You’re profiting off of her likeness,” he asked with a light laugh.
Vanessa bristled at the question even without being directly addressed. “It’s the least she could do after blowing up my spot like that. She knew she didn’t need to go for that low blow,” he chimed in as he did his makeup.
“Nina, girl, you know I love you, but it would’ve been just as easy to do a funny Vanjie impression without having to drag our personal lives into it like that,” Brooke added in a much more calm and gentle tone.
Asia looked between the three of them oddly. “Wait, so she was telling the truth? I mean, I had my suspicions, but…” his voice trailed off as he gestured vaguely, “I just figured y’all discussed what was gonna go down beforehand,” he shrugged.
Nina looked taken aback, but it was clear he did feel guilty. “Vanjie, I had no idea it would be a sensitive subject for you. We’ve all been joking about it, so I thought it would be fair game. But Asia’s right, I should have asked you for confirmation regardless, and I’m so sorry,” he apologized emphatically.
“I forgive you,” Vanessa replied curtly. He knew Nina’s apology was sincere, and he did accept it, but he did still feel tense and uncomfortable in a way that only time could heal.
“Are you alright, Brooke?” Nina asked with a hint of awkwardness in his tone, knowing that Vanessa was still upset.
Brooke nodded, doing his best to seem poised and unphased. “I’m not mad, I understand that you got carried away,” he replied even though, in reality, he was just doing his best to stay strong so neither Nina nor Vanessa felt any worse.
That had been the end of their storyline for that episode. All of them survived to the next week, and the pressure was building even more. They were all starting to feel the heat. Perhaps that was why after they got to a challenge that they were both safe in, Brooke Lynn and Vanessa managed to sneak away while the focus stayed on the winners and losers.
“I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up, Brooke Lynn,” Vanessa confessed. “It was one thing to compete when everyone knew we had our thing going on, it’s different when we’re trying to hide it. It’s just another fucking thing we gotta worry about, like we don’t fucking have enough to deal with,” he vented.
Brooke frowned sympathetically and wrapped an arm around him. “Baby, I get it. It’s hard for me too. I’d much rather be able to hug and kiss you whenever I want. But this is what we agreed to do if we didn’t want to have that narrative again. Then when all is said and done, we can pick up where we left off and love each other on our own terms.”
Vanessa sighed and curled up against Brooke Lynn. “You say shit that’s smart and makes sense, and I want it to change how I feel, but I just…” in an impulsive act, he suddenly sat up and kissed him deeply, cupping his face with both hands and pouring out every single feeling of longing and need over the past few weeks into that one kiss.
And Brooke couldn’t have fought his feelings if he tried. His arms wrapped around Vanessa’s waist and pulled him close. He had missed this – missed him – more than he realized. He wouldn’t go so far as to say love was more important than winning, but he’d be damned if he couldn’t ignore Vanessa’s feelings, let alone his own. If he was going to give in to their desires, he was glad they could do it alone, sequestered from their friends and the harsh eye of the camera.
“Anyone see where Brooke Lynn and Vanjie went?” Asia asked offhandedly, looking around without realizing he was in earshot of the couple.
As nonchalantly as possible, Vanessa and Brooke returned from their impromptu reconciliation-slash-makeout session and joined the group. “What happened?” Brooke asked as casually as he could. All he received in response, however, was a bunch of confused stares. “Is there something on my face?”
“Other than most of Vanjie’s lipstick?”

royal au | the minstrel, kim seungmin
Tumblr media
MINSTREL - a singer or musician for the royal party.
KIM SEUNGMIN was a famous singer who travelled far and wide to all corners of the country doing what he loved the most - singing for the people. no matter where he travelled to, as far or as close as it seemed, as long as he was singing, he was happy. your kingdom hired him for your father’s birthday and you’re suddenly drawn to the beautiful boy like a pirate to a siren. you can’t get enough of the color of his voice and you want nothing more than for him to sing to you forever. it’s seungmin’s dream to sing for all the people in the world, but when you look at him like he’s the only voice you could listen to for the rest of your life, he figured singing only for you would be just fine.

kim seungmin used to be just a boy with his guitar.
in his small town, just outside of a neighboring kingdom, he’d play and sing for his parents who could never get enough of his voice.
then one day, a neighbor passed by their open window.
the neighbor was so captivated by the angel in the home that they told their friends to come and listen.
and then they told their friends to come listen.
and soon enough, seungmin sang for his whole town.
when his king found out about the boy with a voice of angel just outside of the citadel, he demanded to bring him in to prove it, for there was no way that a single boy could out-sing the king’s choir.
but oh, was the king so, so wrong.
seungmin was hired as the king’s leading entertainment whenever he had noble guests visiting the kingdom.
as soon as the other kings and queens and bishops heard the honey in his voice, they, too, wanted to hire him as the leading act.
without hesitation, he accepted any and every offer thrown a him, and that’s how kim seungmin travelled the country.
he was never in one place for very long - no longer than a couple of months staying at a kingdom.
traveling to far and wide places was no problem for him, anyways, since the money he earned singing was more than enough to cover any expenses.
by now, seungmin was sure he visited every kingdom at least twice over, but when he received an invite to a birthday at a kingdom he’s never heard of, he was excited for the adventures that would soon come.
your kingdom wasn’t small but it wasn’t huge, either. it was a humble and comfortable sized one that was simple and lovely.
the entire kingdom was preparing to celebrate your father’s birthday by spending the next seventy-two hours knitting flowers into every fence and arch, brewing the kingdom’s best ales and wines, and seasoning only the finest meats that could be offered.
whether it be your father’s, your mother’s, or even your own birthday, the kingdom would always be full of life and color for those three days prior.
if you thought welcoming other royal families to the kingdom was stressful, then you clearly hadn’t experienced a royal birthday at the kingdom.
usually, your father would hire a jester or a band or some opera singer to perform on his birthday.
but this year, you were informed about a special guest who would be staying in the chamber next to yours.
“can you believe i was able to get him to attend my birthday?” your father said excitedly. “i’ve heard so many good things about him from the seo kingdom that i just had to book him.”
“are all these flowers for you or for you to throw at him when he finishes a song?” you teased, plucking off one rose from a thousand.
“both!”
the boy arrived right on time when the kingdom had begun their first day of preparation for the birthday celebration.
nothing was really set up yet, but at the rate everyone was going, all the decorations and food would be ready in no time.
for a brief moment, the entire kingdom halted their activities to gather around the entrance of the citadel, where seungmin came on horseback.
he was a bit intimidated by all the people he saw. he’s performed for bigger cities before, but never had they all come to greet him this way.
they eyed him like he was a king.
but you looked at him just as you would any other person.
any other cute person, that is - he was incredibly cute in your eyes.
“hello, kim seungmin!” your father greeted loudly. “welcome to our home!”
“ah, hello ~” he greeted shyly, causing all the women and girls of the kingdom to squeal. “thank you for having me.”
“as a thank you for traveling all this way for my birthday, we will celebrate your coming tonight with a feast at the castle. so please, do rest up until then.”
“thank you, your highness. where will i be staying?”
“_____ will be showing you."
“huh?” you say absentmindedly.
you were too distracted by the boy’s smile to listen to what your father said.
you’ve never seen anything so blinding that it was also deafening.
“i said you would be taking him to the guest chamber. i have some errands to run in the city before i return, so please make him feel at home.”
“oh, right! please follow me.”
seungmin gladly followed with his horse right beside him.
as you two walked through the crowds of people, you heard faint whispers and murmurs of how you two looked good next to each other.
“it’s like he’s royal, too,” you heard one whisper.
“he might as well be - he’s already well-known throughout the whole country.”
“i suppose you’re right... they look good walking next to each other, don’t they?”
“yes! i agree.”
“you have a beautiful kingdom,” the boy said, tearing you away from the gossip. “there’s a lot of life here.”
“oh? are they not like this everywhere else?” you asked.
during your whole life, you’ve never stepped too far away from your kingdom. the closest you ever got was the kingdom over, but that was just an hour or two on horseback.
even so, your two kingdoms were similar, so that’s all you’ve come to know about kingdom life.
“they’ve all been different - at least the ones that i’ve seen. some are small, some are big, some lived in the sunshine, and some in the rain. though even the kingdoms that thrived in the sunshine valleys never had as much life as yours.”
“wow, you really have a way with words.”
“it comes with the package of being a singer,” he winked.
it was unsettling having the chamber next to yours be occupied, and by a boy no less.
the first night, you didn’t sleep very well because that was all you could think about!
a handsome boy, just a short distance away from you.
you wondered if other members of royalty felt the same way whenever he visited.
you wondered if he ever thought anything about it.
probably not though, at least not now - he should be used to this kind of thing, right?
the morning after, you were woken up by the golden rays of the sun from the east and a golden voice singing an angel’s song from the west.
everything truly felt warm and golden - it was like a dream.
the faint hum of a guitar and seungmin’s voice could be heard through your open windows and you immediately jumped out of bed to go to your balcony.
peaking over to the balcony next to yours, you saw seungmin sitting on a chair still dressed in his pajamas, drinking in the sun rays as he sang a song.
of course he noticed you listening and looking, but it didn’t stop him from singing his song.
instead, he shot you another wink to acknowledge your presence.
you stayed for the entire song. you were so drawn into his voice, like how pirates were to sirens in your childhood story books.
you couldn’t even say anything after he finished. you just stared, awestruck and dumbly.
“good morning, your highness,” he greeted lightly. “i didn’t wake you, did i?”
“u-uh, no! i was already awake,” you lied.
“oh, good! i would have felt bad. did you like the song?”
“i loved it! your voice is so beautiful. i can see why all the kingdoms want you to perform.”
“ah, you flatter me ~”
“do you sing every morning like this?”
“mostly. i like to warm up my voice and sing with the birds.”
“you’re a real fairytale prince,” you teased.
“that’s the best compliment i’ve ever received. have you eaten yet?”
“i haven’t.”
“would you like to join me?” he asked, packing away his guitar.
“i’d love to.”
you and seungmin got along really well.
he was so kind and charming, it was hard not to like him.
but you weren’t the only admirer in the kingdom. he drew the attention of many young citizens who looked at him with the biggest heart eyes and he got more attention than your royal family ever did.
you were a little jealous - of the citizens and of his fame.
it’s only been two days since seungmin arrived to your kingdom, but you’ve spent a lot of your free time with him showing him your history, hidden gems, and listening to him sing.
even when you least expected it, you spent time with him.
“you must like me, huh?” he teased from his balcony.
on a clear night like tonight, you wanted to study the stars and the alignment of the planets, but you don’t think you could focus with seungmin tuning his guitar next to you.
“this is a mere coincidence,” you pouted.
“uh huh. what are you doing up so late? shouldn’t you be getting some beauty sleep the night before a big event?”
“you talk a lot for someone who should be saving their breath to sing.”
“touche, your highness, touche. but really, it’s very late. what are you doing?”
“i like to stargaze.”
“really!? me, too!” he beamed cutely. “can i join you...?”
a boy who wants to stargaze with you? was your biggest fairytale dream coming true?
“i’d like that a lot. i’ll come over to you.”
“aw, i was hoping to see your chamber ~”
“i don’t let weird boys come into my room.”
you took your map that the astronomer gave you to study for the week and headed to the guest chamber.
you hoped that no one was spying on you at the moment because it looks quite suspicious that you’re sneaking into the party entertainer’s room in the middle of the night.
the both of you sat closely next to each other gazing at the stars and inspecting your map carefully.
“i’ve never used a map before,” he said, squinting closely at the diagram.
“really? i’m forced to study it, but it’s so hard to read sometimes...”
“why don’t we forget the map and just look up?”
you glanced at the boy who gave you the softest smile and wondered how anyone could live so freely.
you always lived your life through strict rules and set ways that you were creatively inept and to think that there were people like seungmin out in the world who lived so freely without books or maps or documents to force their ways made you so jealous.
but really, you were just thinking too much of it - it was just stargazing after all...
you nodded as your response and folded away the big map of the sky.
“huh...” you mused. “i’ve studied the stars for so long at yet i never realized how many there are...”
“it’s beautiful, isn’t it?” seungmin beamed. “they remind me of home.”
“that must be nice. they remind me that i want to be anywhere but home.”
“why’s that?”
“i sound kind of bratty, don’t i? me, someone who’s been blessed to be born into royalty, living in a beautiful castle with all the riches i could ever ask for... yet i still feel trapped, you know? i’ve never travelled too far, i do the same tasks every single day, i’m forced to be confined in this box and be what my parents want me to be and it just sucks and looking at the same stars every night reminds me that i’ll never be able to see what’s really out there. sounds stupid, huh?”
“no no, i completely understand. i’d hate to live life that way. i guess i’m the exact opposite - sure, i get to do what i love the most and travel the world and make others happy, but is it worth it if i feel this lonely all the time? i miss home so often, but the stars remind me that home will always be waiting.”
“i guess we’re two of the loneliest people on the planet.”
“not so much anymore.”
“why’s that?”
“we have each other, don’t we?” the handsome boy grinned.
as you blushed, you said, “yeah, for now. you’ll be gone after tomorrow.”
“what if the king wants me to stay for a bit? it happens a lot after they first hear me perform and i almost always do.”
“whether you leave after tomorrow or stay for a while, let’s just enjoy the time we have together.”
“you’re right. not to be, uh, weird or anything... but can i hold your hand?”
silently, you immediately laced your hand with his and held it tightly as you both continued to talk to the stars.
seungmin had to be the sweetest boy you’ve ever met and you really hoped he’d stay for a while after tomorrow.
the two of you stayed up until seungmin could no longer keep his eyes open and the stars began to fade into the light.
with his last bit of energy, he walked you to your chamber and kissed your hand goodnight.
“goodnight, your highness,” he whispered. “i’ll see you in... a couple of hours...”
the both of you slept in for quite a while and if it wasn’t for the hustle and bustle of the kingdom on this holy day, your asses would have been toast.
but you both were safe. for now.
the commencement ceremony began with a feast-like breakfast in the great hall for residents and workers of the castle, including seungmin who sat right beside you.
you two laughed at how exhausted you both looked from the night before and the castle cooed at how cute you two were together.
except your father, who was not amused one bit.
after breakfast, seungmin was free to do whatever until his performance at dinner in front of the entire kingdom.
you, on the other hand, had to participate in the parade, afternoon tea time, a prayer from the minister, the lunch feast, meeting the children of the town, and then took the last couple of hours to get ready for the big feast.
you were dressed in your newest, finest clothes that even had gold sewn into the fabric and wore your cute little crown.
finally, it was time for the last event of tonight.
when you opened the door of your chamber to exit, a startled seungmin dressed in his handsome performance wear with his guitar on his back stood frozen in your doorway.
“hi!” he greeted nervously. “w-wow you look... wow...”
“you look pretty ‘wow’ yourself,” you giggled. “what are you doing here?”
“i-i was going to ask if i could escort you to dinner tonight...?”
with a grin on your lips, you said, “of course.”
and so seungmin offered you his arm to take and you both walked into town square.
all of the towns people were scurrying to their seats as dinner was about to be served.
seungmin held you back before you entered the madness.
“i have to prepare for my performance, so i won’t get to talk to you much. but will you save me a dance tonight -?”
“yes!” you blurted out. “i-i mean, sure...!”
“sounds good. wish me luck ~”
before he could leave, you quickly pecked his cheek.
“good luck, dandy boy,” you said before running off to your seat.
great, now there’s no way seungmin could stay calm.
never in any of his performances had he ever felt so nervous before... and this was considered kind of small for him.
but when you kept your attention on him at all times, even as he was setting up the microphones and the stage, he thinks to himself that he can’t perform and he should just run away.
but he doesn’t because he wants to sing for you.
not for the king, or the nobles, or the people - just for you, while everyone else didn’t matter.
throughout his first song, he tried to make eye contact with the king, the queen, and to all the people.
he tried his best to avoid your eyes the whole time, but at the very last lines, he caught them and from then, it was over.
the rest of the set, he just looked at you while he sang.
here and there, he’d have his eyes wander so he didn’t look too suspicious and didn’t creep you out, but he was always drawn back to you and your beautiful, smiling face.
it didn’t make his situation better when he sang of love and life and beauty because it was like he was singing all these things about you.
and obviously, you knew that his songs were made way before he met you.
yet somehow, even seungmin thought about how these songs could have been inspired by you if he’d met you earlier.
throughout his set, you couldn’t help but feel a little jealous by his words of love and admiration because he had to have gotten his inspiration to sing those words from someone.
but all your jealousy and doubt faded when he couldn’t take his eyes off of you.
three days spent with you, and you already had him thinking about new songs he could sing.
the kingdom loved seungmin and his angelic voice - there was a standing ovation each song.
but sadly, his performance came to an end, and now that dinner was over, the floor was open and it was time to dance.
seungmin immediately ran to you once the floor was cleared.
“dance with me?” he asked.
and so you both danced the night away, smiling and twirling as the kingdom watched.
neither of you let go of each other and you stayed in each other’s arms until the music stopped and it was time to go to bed.
he walked you back to your chamber and it was then you realized you might not see the boy who made your heart race for a very long time.
you knew seungmin must have sensed your sadness when he tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ears.
“i’ll make sure to see you before i leave,” he said.
“promise...?”
“i promise.”
“can i ask you something?”
“of course.”
“do you... do things like this in the other kingdoms...?”
seungmin couldn’t blame you for questioning. if the tables were flipped, he’d be afraid you’d be that way, too.
but luckily, he wasn’t. no one ever captured his attention or interest like you did.
“only with you,” he reassured.
with a soft kiss on your forehead, he bid you goodnight.
that night, you couldn’t sleep. you stayed in your bed wide awake until it was time to say good bye to the only boy you think you could ever see yourself loving.
the entire kingdom waited by the gates just like the day he arrived.
with tired eyes and a tired stride, you walked with him just outside of the kingdom so you could exchange words in private.
“i’ll miss you,” you whispered softly.
“i’ll see you again. i promise,” he said.
he took your hand in his and handed you something. a gift.
it was a small necklace with a pedant that was shaped like a star.
“when you look at the stars, i hope they remind you of me.”
through your tears, you couldn’t even see seungmin leave your kingdom on horseback.
minutes later, he was gone, and you were left alone again in your prison of a kingdom.
you spent many nights looking at the stars and wondering if seungmin was looking at them, too.
you tried to ignore the empty balcony of the guest chamber that was haunting you and making you miss seungmin even more.
but it became so overbearing that you stopped watching the stars all together and instead held onto the one that hung loosely on your neck.
days fade into months and soon months turned into years and you can’t even remember what seungmin’s voice sounded like anymore.
even if you barely knew him, even if that happened so long ago, even if you can’t remember what his singing sounded like, you still never got over him.
he was still the keeper of your heart, even when you were arranged to be married to a prince.
“i have a surprise for you, my love,” your soon-to-be husband said as he dragged you out to his courtyard covering your eyes.
now that you were to be wed into his family, you moved out of your castle and into his so the post-wedding moving would be easier.
you absolutely hated it - even more than your own castle.
at least your castle felt more like home than this dungeon.
“what is it...?” you groaned.
“are you ready?” you nodded. “surprise!”
when your fiance released your hold, you were standing face-to-face with a crestfallen seungmin and you felt your heart leap into your throat.
five years.
it had been five years since you’ve seen seungmin.
and now he was here in front of you, just days before your wedding, and you were ready to jump into his arms and ask him to take you away from this hellhole.
“s-seungmin...?” you whispered.
“yes!” your fiance cheered. “he’ll be singing in our wedding! can you believe that!?”
“you’re getting married...?” he couldn’t believe the words coming out of his mouth.
“yeah...”
“... congratulations,” he muttered, taking his things up to his guest chamber.
which - surprise, again - was right next to yours.
for the rest of the day, you stayed as far away from your chamber as possible, fearful that you would run into seungmin even for a moment.
how were you supposed to face him now? when he looked so angry at you...?
but it’s not like this marriage was what you wanted, right!? he had to have known that...!
your scurried and messy thoughts made you exhausted so you figured it was about time you head to bed.
but of course, just as you turned to doorknob of your chamber, seungmin stepped out of his.
“i thought i heard you,” he said.
you were too scared to say anything.
“you still wear that?” he asked, pointing to the necklace he gave you.
“i only take it off when i bathe,” you admitted, clutching it closely to your heart.
“does your fiance know that i gave it to you?”
“no. he’ll take it away from me if i do.”
seungmin furrowed his brows angrily and ran a hand through his hair. “what are you doing here? why are you getting married!?”
“do you think i have a choice!? does anyone in royalty ever have a choice when it comes to marriage!?”
“your father arranged this?”
“of course he did! do you think i wanted to marry him? how could i, when i wanted to wait for you.”
“how can you say that when you barely know me?”
“how can you be so angry at me then?”
“i’m not -” a frustrated sigh escaped his lips because seungmin knew he can’t lie to himself or you if he said he wasn’t upset about your arranged marriage. “well, we can’t do anything about this now, huh?”
“no... we can’t.”
when seungmin saw tears well up in your big, beautiful eyes, he doesn’t hesitate to wrap you up in his arms and hold you the way he’s been dreaming of the past five years.
and you just sobbed.
the stars were aligned in a way that made sure nothing for you went the way you wanted.
“you’ll be ok,” he cooed. “you’ll be an amazing partner to him... and you’ll rule this kingdom with an iron fist.”
“but you won’t be with me...”
“no, i won’t. but if you ever need me for your birthday, or your father’s birthday, or even your anniversary... you know how to reach me.”
for a while, you just stayed in his arms, crying into his chest.
once in a while, he’d sing you a song to calm you down and you almost fell asleep.
when he felt you breathing steadily, he kissed your forehead and told you to get some sleep.
but now that you weren’t in his arms, there was no way you’d be able to.
and just when you least expected it, your wedding day was here.
you went through the motions of preparation like a zombie, clearly not paying attention to what anyone was saying about wedding etiquette as they fitted you in your wedding garment.
when they were finished, they guided you to a mirror, and you had to admit, you looked stunning.
but your eyes were dead.
you were finally left alone in your room, taking these last personal moments to prepare yourself for the rest of your life.
it would just take a few moments, right? walk down the aisle, say your vows, kiss, and that’s that.
and you’d be doing all of that in front of seungmin.
no, you couldn’t do it - you wouldn’t do it.
panic was rising in your chest when you already missed your cue to leave your chamber and head to the church. it was too late now, you might as well not get married to this prince guy, right?
was your chamber shrinking?
“hey,” a voice said, breaking you from your thoughts.
seungmin closed the door behind him and knelt down to your crying form.
“what’s wrong?” he asked.
“i can’t do it.”
“can’t do what? get married?”
“no, i can’t, i just can’t, it’s too late! god, my parents must be so disappointed out there, my make-up’s already ruined, oh my god i don’t even remember my vows i -!”
“hey, calm down,” he said, gripping onto your shoulders tightly. “stand up with me.”
nervously, you did as you were told and already felt better with a smiling seungmin looking down at you.
“there you go, my starlight. you look so beautiful as always. now say your vows.”
“what?”
“you heard me. say your vows. i know you remember them.”
you took a deep breath and looked him straight in the eyes. this was good, this would be good practice.
“to the boy who turned my world upside down,” you began. “i don’t think i’ve ever met anyone else like you. you’re so kind, passionate, and so, so beautiful that the stars can’t even compare to you. there are moments when i can’t ever take my eyes off of you and i think about how lucky i am to be sharing this space with you. we haven’t known each other for long, but i can already see myself falling so effortlessly for you...”
your words seemed to trail off into nothing when your lips were consumed by the boy in front of you.
of course those vows were written with seungmin on your mind.
how else were you supposed to write about the deepest feelings you had for someone?
for a long while, you stood in your wedding garment kissing a man you fell for that wasn’t your fiance and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
you were the first to break the kiss.
“let’s run away,” you said.
“what?” seungmin laughed incredulously.
“let’s leave.”
“and go where...?”
“back home. my parents are here, i can sneak in, grab some stuff, an we can just go. anywhere. i’ll travel with you.”
“... you’ve thought about this, haven’t you?”
“three years in the making.”
“... ok.” he sighed in defeat. “come with me.”
“really!?”
“yes, but we have to go now.”
and so you did.
like a fairytale, you ran away with the man of your dreams on horseback still wearing your wedding garment.
you successfully took your belongs from your kingdom without anyone seeing you and you were ready to spend your life with seungmin the minstrel.
the two of you spent your first night together under the stars.
your new fairytale would begin from there.

Written by: Brad Falchuk Directed by:  Paris Barclay
Overall Thoughts: Here we have yet another season one episode that I basically totally forgot about, and which I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would. There’s actually a lot more that I like about this episode than things I dislike, which really surprised me considering I placed it pretty low in my pre-watch ranking. I feel like all I remembered of this episode was the Will storyline, and somehow forgot all the amazing Kurt, Mercedes, Quinn, and Finn stuff. It really is an amazing episode. Although it might also just be that it seems that way when compared to “The Power of Madonna”.
What I Like:
The start of Burt and Carole’s relationship! I don’t know whose idea it was to have these two get together, but I honestly want to bake them a cake.
Literally everything about Mercedes in this episode makes my heart sing. Her struggle is so palpable and real that it’s almost painful to watch. I teared up so many times during her scenes because I’ve felt that. I’ve felt that a thousand times over. Having attention drawn to it, showing how a bigger woman can love her body but still feel insecure and be willing to give into societal pressure is one of the most honest and heart wrenching stories Glee ever tackled, and unlike some of their later topic episodes, this one is handled perfectly. Bravo.
Having the person who brings Mercedes down from the edge be Quinn. It would have been so easy to stick Kurt, or Puck, or even Finn or Artie in there to give her a pep talk and remind her of how beautiful and wonderful she is, but they didn’t. And not only did they have Quinn come in, but they also let Mercedes tell her point-blank that Quinn is thin and fits the typical standards of beauty. It’s just a wonderful scene. I also really enjoy the contrast of Quinn saying “you are beautiful Mercedes”, compared to Artie saying “you know we like you no matter how you look”. With Artie’s, it sounds like “we can look past the fact that you’re fat. You’re beautiful despite being fat”. With Quinn, it’s just “you’re beautiful” point blank. Mercedes is beautiful because of her size, not in spite of it.
“You were conceived on a pinball machine” they really should have given Carole more comedic moments oh my gosh.
“You two have dead spouses, maybe you should talk” Kur you little shit.
Brittany and Santana linking pinkies and Santana leaning her head on Brittany’s shoulder. They’re so goddamn gay it makes me so happy.
Burt and Finn bonding. I’ve always felt it strange that Glee wanted to portray Will as the father figure that Finn never had, when Burt was literally right there and a much better role model for the guy.
Kurt apologizing to Mercedes at the end of the episode. It’s nice to see him like that, because it shows once again that even though Kurt can get really into himself and his wants and ambitions, he can also take a step back and realize how what he’s done has affected others. He’s the perfect blend of selfish and self-less, and it makes for a really compelling character.
The scene where Tina and Artie and Rachel and Jesse turn into food. It’s honestly hilarious, even if the context is upsetting.
No Rachel storyline! I think it’s one of, like, three episodes in all of Glee that doesn’t have a Rachel storyline. It actually is kind of refreshing. Plus, it shows that a Finn storyline that doesn’t center around the three hundred girls who want to have his babies is actually pretty interesting. Honestly, I always found Rachel and Finn’s storylines a lot more interesting when the other person wasn’t involved, or it didn’t center around a romantic interest. It’s a shame there were so few like that.
Burt calling Kurt out for setting him up with Carole and then getting upset when he started bonding with Finn. “Didn’t you do it to make me happy?” Even though I don’t think it fully got through, I do think Kurt needed to hear that.
Carole shutting down Finn’s pity party by reminding him that he didn’t even know his father. Something Finn does a lot that I’ve only noticed with this re-watch is that when something difficult happens to him, and that thing affects a woman in his life as well, he makes it all about himself. It’s so hard on him, he’s so stressed out, nobody wants to help him because they’re so focused on her. Meanwhile the show actually does focus on him, and the woman, who is usually suffering a lot more than he is, gets sidelined. It happened with Quinn’s pregnancy, and it’s happening now. I think it really shows the importance of having adult characters who are actually adults influencing these kids lives. Carole is able to tell Finn without any hesitation that his father’s death has been infinitely harder on her than it was on him, and that he needs to stop playing the victim and acting like she is the one being insensitive to his feelings. This is a message that characters like Will or Emma would never be able to get across, and it’s actually a great, emotional scene.
What I Don’t Like:
Once again, April sings three songs in this episode. She’s a guest star, and I get that she’s amazing, but it really does feel excessive.
Will’s storyline is a little boring. He never seems to be able to do anything without a woman who is attracted to him helping him pave out his path. He can’t come to any realizations on his own, and it’s starting to get really frustrating. Neither Emma or Terri are in this episode, so the role of Will’s Keeper falls onto April. It’s just annoying that this guy who is supposed to be this amazing leader and motivator literally can’t get his life together without someone there to help him glue the pieces together. While I understand needing help every now and then, it feels like the only purpose of any of the female characters that are interested in Will is to make his life easier and better.
Kurt is actually quite frustrating in this episode. First of all, setting up your dad with your crush’s mom is really fucking stupid. It’s not going to make you closer, it’s going to make you family. Ew. Secondly, he was really selfish in doing it, and Burt was right to call him out on that. As soon as things aren’t going his way, he wants to pull the plug, even though Carole and Burt are obviously very happy together. Third, he’s a dink to Mercedes, which IMO is inexcusable. Come on, Kurt. Get your shit together.
Sue acting like Mercedes pep rally was her idea, and taking all the credit for it. I mean, I know that’s just how Sue is, but it’s still a really ugly move.
Sue in this episode, period. Encouraging Becky to literally be bulimic, which is awful, and then asking Mercedes to drop ten pounds in a week?!?!? The most a person should lose per week is 2 pounds, and even that isn’t that healthy. Plus, what difference is ten pounds going to make? No, seriously. Maybe on someone like Quinn or Santana you’d be able to notice ten pounds, but on someone like Mercedes? I’ve been hovering around 200 pounds for about five years now, and I’ve looked exactly the same weighing 190, 200, and 210. On bigger people, something like ten pounds really does not make that much of a difference. Mercedes would have to lose 20-25 pounds at least to have a noticeable difference. Which means that Sue literally made her faint from hunger for no reason whatsoever. Fuck, that pisses me off.
April wanting to do an all-white version of The Whiz. April, that literally exists, and it’s called The Wizard of Oz.
Songs
Fire: This song isn’t necessary. It doesn’t work in the context of the episode, and it just takes away time from one of the actually interesting storylines in this episode. They sound good together, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just really not necessary.
A House is Not a Home: I think Kurt sounds incredible in this song, but it’s never been a favourite. It’s too slow for my taste, and I don’t like that it was a surprise sneak-attack duet instead of just a Kurt solo (I don’t actually think we’ve had one of those yet which is brutal). I’m counting down till “Laryngitis” here, people. I’m ready for my Kurt solo.
One Less Bell to Answer/A House is Not a Home: Holy shit. Okay, so. This song is way too long, and they could have cut a good two minutes from the performance (it’s literally a four-minute-long in-episode performance which is out of this world). That being said, holy fucking shit. The vocals on this are amazing. Not just April, but Will too. There’s not that many songs that make me think “goddamn, Matt Morrison can sing” but this one does. I actually only really noticed the length of the song once it ended because I was so enraptured by how incredible these two sound singing this song. Goddamn.
Beautiful: an absolutely amazing and powerful performance. I cried the entire way through. It’s so uplifting, and Mercedes obviously sounds incredible. Absolutely top-notch
Home: Boring, and once again, unnecessary. Kristen Chenoweth has a great voice, nobody is denying that, but three songs for a guest star is too much. And frankly, the choir-style background singing of the Glee club doesn’t really work for me. A bit of a mediocre ending to an otherwise fantastic episode.
Final Thoughts: This was an episode I started not expecting to enjoy it, as all I remembered about it was the Will stuff. When it ended, I was in a much better mood than I’d been when it started, and it made me excited to watch the next episode (something I don’t often feel in season one).

Magnus Chase and a Plotless Hogwarts Fanfiction
Chapter 6: Halloween
full story: http://archiveofourown.org/works/11429727/chapters/25832337
Magnus and his buds dress up for Halloween. some Fierrochase fluff. some of Blitzstone fluff.
"Magnus you are going to love Halloween at Hogwarts. It's literally the best night of the year." Alex told Magnus excitedly at the breakfast table. Magnus had just finished telling her about how he had never really celebrated Halloween. Since his mom died Magnus had been a little too preoccupied trying to find his next meal or safe place to sleep instead of dressing up as his favourite fictional character. Which was Frodo thank you very much.
Alex was practically bouncing out of her chair with excitement telling Magnus about the Halloween feast the school held. And how after the student went to be they all went to the village to actually celebrate.
"So do you guys dress up?" Magnus asked. He had always wanted to dress up at Halloween. The last time he got to wear a costume was when he was 10 and got to be Spider-Man. He was looking forward to have an excuse to geek out.
Blitz who was sitting two seats over from Magnus beside hearth gave a glowing smile. Obviously excited they had reached the topic of costumes.
"Well of course. It wouldn't be Halloween without costumes.” blitz beamed. "Also speaking of costumes I think us four should all collaborate you know do a group costume. I can make them. And the students will get a kick out of them"
Alex almost broke Magnus’s ear drums when she made a high pitch squealing sound of excitement. "Oh my Gods Blitz that's a great idea! What should we be?!"
Hearth waved for attention and signed "I don't do Halloween. Count me out"
Blitz's face knotted and his eyebrows knit together. He pursed his lips and turned towards Hearth.
"What do you mean you don't 'do' Halloween? Halloween is amazing." Blitz started telling off Hearth "Also we need you. I was thinking Star Wars. I mean even slot of wizards know Star Wars since Alex had that movie muggle night for the students last year. Magnus you grew up around muggles right? You've seen it?"
"Duh of course. I love star wars." Magnus said.
Hearth pursed his lips and signed." I didn't see it. I wasn't at the movie night. Plus parents didn't let me see muggle movies."
"Don't worry about it bud. I'll find a way to watch it with you before Halloween" Blitz signed. Hearth smiled at that but still kept his expression of loathing at having to participate in a group costume.
Blitz turned back to Alex and they began planning out the costumes for the four of them
* Blitz was an amazing costume designer. In less than a week he had made 4 amazing costumes. Blitz must have stayed up late to create them because he had worn dark shadows under his eyes all week. Magnus also guessed Hearth had helped out because the guy also looked like he hadn’t slept a wink too. Still Magnus was grateful for Blitz’s hard work.
The day before Halloween they all met at Blitz’s office to come see their costumes. He had made himself a perfect costume that made him look like a more impressively fashionable Han Solo. To Hearths displeasure Blitz had made him a sort of Chewbacca costume. To be honest the costume wasn’t that bad. It consisted of a pair of brown trousers and a very furry brown sweater. He had also made Chewies iconic bandolier for Hearth to sling across his chest. Magnus guessed Blitz had held back for Hearths sake since he knew how reluctant the guy was to dress up.
“Why do I have to be the furry guy?” Hearth complained in signs when Blitz made him try it on.
“Because you’re the tallest. Also Chewbacca doesn’t talk so you have that going for you” Blitz said not giving Hearth the opportunity to weasel his way out of the plan.
Hearth flipped Blitz a rude gesture when Blitz turned his back to hand out the costumes for Magnus and Alex.
“So the plan is for Alex to be Leia and Magnus to be Luke Skywalker” Blitz said handing them their costumes. The costume looked like Blitz had stolen them right from the production.
“And what if I’m not a girl tomorrow” Alex said
“Already thought of that” Blitz replied. “You’ll just switch with Magnus”
Alex smiled wide.
“Hey!” Magnus protested.
Alex sniggered and punched Magnus on the arm. “I think you would look great in a dress” Alex teased.
Magnus just scrunched up his face and stuck his tongue out at them both.
Hearth had given up completely on the conversation and had fallen face first in Blitz's couch refusing to look up at them.
* Thanks fully for Magnus’s reputation Alec was a girl on Halloween. At first when he heard knocking on his office door he was scared it would be Alex demanding to trade costumes, but instead he opened the door to a beautiful looking Alex. She was wearing the long white robes of Leia and had made her hair grow out into long locks which she tied up on either side of her head. Her facial features were still Alex, with entrancing and very distracting two toned eyes and perfectly sculpted features. Magnus caught himself staring again and quickly shook his head to focus.
“Hey Alex. Almost done, just have to brush my teeth. Give me a sec” Magnus said letting Alex in his sitting room. Alex walked over to the couch and crashed down putting her feet up on his coffee table. Magnus went to brush his teeth. When he came back he found Hearth and Blitz had also let themselves in. They were also all dressed and ready. They all stood in a circle and took in their costumes.
“We all look great!” Blitz exclaimed. “My best costumes so far if I do say so myself”.
Hearth rolled his eyes and led the way down to breakfast.
*
When the four of them entered the Great Hall a lot of student called out complementing them on their costumes. Even Hearth couldn’t help but smile when students exclaimed they had the coolest professors ever.
At the staff table Sam and Amir sat eating breakfast with Mallory and Halfborn.
Sam simply wore her regular robes but donned a pumpkin orange head scarf today in honor of Halloween. Amir however was dressed like a pirate. He waved as they sat down and started complimenting Blitz on his work.
Mallory and Halfborn had also decide to go for a group costume/or couple costume. Magnus still hadn’t figured out exactly what they were to each other. He guessed they were somewhere between being romantic partners and mortal enemies. Sometime both at once. For Halloween they had dressed up as Kahl Droggo and Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. Halfborn had no problem pulling off his costume. The guy was pretty much already a dothraki minus the horse. Mallory however had charmed her hair blonde for the occasion. It still kept its giant frizzy mess and her braid looked like a rabid raven had teared it apart. Still the effect was pretty, frightening yet beautiful. T.J came in a while later dressed in a Night Watchers cloak with a giant fake sword at his side. He looked slightly uncomfortable but smiled as two older students from the Gryffindor table wolf whistled him. He joined Mallory and Halfborn at the table to complete their group.
*
The Halloween feast was amazing. Magnus thought by the end he was going to end up in a sugar coma. The hall was filled with glowing pumpkins instead of floating candle and every inch of table was filled with the widest variety of sweets Magnus had ever seen. The school choir provided entertainment during desert singing some classic Halloween songs. Then Halfborn entertained everyone with a dramatically scary story. Magical visual depictions curtesy of Blitz and T.J.
Around 11 o clock the students were all sent to bed. Magnus and everyone else got ready to head down to the village for a little celebrating of their own since tomorrow was a Saturday. Mallory and Halfborn said they would stay behind to patrol the corridors together, so Sam and Amir had no excuse to ditch out on the fun this time. Magnus also suspected they wanted and excuse to ditch the group to sneak off somewhere alone, but he didn’t say anything.
They all ordered rounds and began telling scary stories around a large wooden table in the back of the bar. Amir won at having the most horrifying stories. Magnus was pretty sure he would have nightmares about killer cow men tonight. The night quickly turned into the best time Magnus had ever had. He spent a good hour learning how to play darts from T.J and Amir. Sam sat and criticized his technique playfully as T.J. kept trying to show him how to hit the board and not the wall behind it. At the table Hearth and Blitz sat very close to each other conversing. This time around Hearth was refusing to drink anything stronger than Butterbeer, but unfortunately for him Blitz seemed to be in a good mood as he was now starting on his 4th mug of mead. He talked rapidly his singing become very exaggerated with ever sip. Eventually Hearth cut Blitz off from drinking when Blitz spilled his mug over covering his costume in dark red stain. Alex was again in deep conversation with the bar maid. When Magnus’s arm got tired from throwing darts he went over to Alex. When he approached the bar maid waved bye to Alex and went to the back room. Magnus cleared his throat feeling bad he had scared off Alex’s friend.
“Umm sorry, I didn’t meant to interrupt.” He said.
“Don’t worry about it. Shelly was getting on my nerves anyway. She can’t catch a hint. I can only turn her down for diner so many times before I have to hex her” Alex went on taking a sip from her mug.
Magnus smiled and nodded not knowing how to respond. He felt awkward hearing Alex talk about someone hitting on her.
“Anyway enough about my sad love life. Tell me about yours. Have a girlfriend? Boyfriend?”Alex prodded with an evil smile on her face. Magnus shook his head and snorted.
“Ya right. I’ve never even had a kiss unless you count some girl in grade school. Which I don’t” Magnus went on.
“Oh really? A soft cinnamon bun Hufflepuff like you has never had any action? Well I guess that explains why you’re so lame” Alex teased.
“Ha ha very funny. For your information Hufflepuffs are the best lovers. We have natural charm” Magnus teased back. After 2 months spending time with Alex he felt much more comfortable joking around with her. Joking with Alex was easy once you got over the fear she might decapitate or hex you at any moment if your annoyed her.
Alex raised one eyebrow and looked over Magnus’s shoulder. “It would appear quite the opposite actually” She said pointing over at the corner where Hearth and Blitz sat. Magnus turned around to see what she was talking about.
Blitz now obviously very much past his limit had taken Hearths hand and was clumsily trying to show him how to tie a tie on himself. Unfortunately for Hearth Blitz couldn’t seem to remember how to tie a tie. Hearth didn’t seem to mind he took his hands back smiling and trying to retie Blitz’s tie back on trying to save the short guy some dignity. He was practically laughing when Blitz leaned forward trying to take the tie off and accidentally nudging Hearth in the chest with his forehead.
“I don’t know if I would call that natural charm” Alex joked. “More like failed attempts at flirting. Man I wish those two would just get it over with”
Magnus raised his eyebrow at Alex. “Blitz and Hearth? Really?” He said skeptically.
“Oh come on Magnus even you can’t be as oblivious as they are?” Alex sighed in fake exasperation.
“I don’t know Alex. I mean Blitz and Hearth are the best of friends but I don’t see that that means there’s anything else going on” Alex rolled her eyes. “Am I the only one who isn’t blind? They are so obviously into each other. Plus I caught Hearth coming out of Blitz’s office last Sunday morning when I went to invite Blitz down to breakfast”
“That doesn’t; mean anything. Hearth could have just gotten up earlier to see Blitz, or accidentally fallen asleep on his couch” Magnus protested. It’s not that Magnus was against the possibility of Blitz and Hearth being a thing, just that he didn’t want to assume anything until he knew for sure himself.
Alex rolled her eyes again. “In his pj’s? I seriously doubt it” Alex said.
Magnus rolled his eyes back at her but didn’t fight her on it.
Sam came over to them with a Butterbeer in hand and sat down beside Alex. She smiled at them.
“I’m so glad I came out. I really needed this.” Sam said stirring around the straw in her Butterbeer.
“You work too hard Sam” Alex said accusingly wagging her finger at her.
Sam rolled her eyes and ignored Alex.
“Magnus I got your owl about your dragon keeper friend bringing in a baby dragon for your upper year classes to see. I think that’s a great plan but I’m going to have to send you some safety forms to fill out first” Sam said in her usual serious business voice.
Magnus nodded. Alex dramatically slammed her head against the bar.
“Sam take a break. No work talk.” Alex groaned.
Sam pouted her lips and gave Alex a look.
“So Sam how are you and Amir?” Magnus asked trying to change the subject.
“Um were good” Sam said a little too coldly. She turned her head and Magnus could say he saw her blush.
“What’s wrong? Spit it out.” Alex prodded.
“Nothing’s wrong.” Sam said defensively.
“Ya but something is up. Come on you can tell us. I’m your sister. Plus Magnus and everyone here is pretty much family. You can’t hide whatever it is forever” Alex said.
Sam looked over at the both of them she was definitely blushing now.
“Well I know it’s kind of early to tell everyone, but I’m so excited. Me and Amir are having a baby” Sam said her eyes wide and face in a contagious smile.
Alex squealed again and ran forward to hug Sam. Magnus smiled and awkwardly hugged Sam too. At that moment everyone else had decided to come up to the bar. They had obviously heard what Sam just said because Halfborn slapped Amir on the back so hard the guy almost fell down. Mallory and T.J. also took their turns hugging and congratulating Sam. Even Hearth hugged Sam which was a rare sight to behold since the guy wasn’t very physical.
Blitz in his tipsy state ordered a round for everyone except Sam, Hearth and Amir. They all toasted to baby Al-abas Faladan. Eventually Hearth signed that he was going to walk Blitz back to the castle before he got himself into too much trouble. Magnus and Alex offered to walk back with them. Magnus helped Hearth carry Blitz most of the way back to the castle as halfway back Blitz seemed unable to walk straight anymore. Alex teased that she would never let him forget the embarrassing moment when he fell over into a bush and couldn't get out. But blitz probably wouldn’t remember that.
When they got to the staircases Alex departed and Magnus helped Hearth carry Blitz up to the 4th floor. Once they managed to get into Blitz’s office Magnus and Hearth dumped Blitz onto his bed. Magnus pulled off Blitz shoes while Hearth wen to grab the blanket from the couch to drape over Blitz. Hearth insisted on staying to keep an eye on Blitz so Magnus headed back to his office.
*
Magnus slept in late the next morning and woke up with a huge headache. Round 11 o’clock he managed to roll out of bed and slogged down to the hall for food. There he ran into T.J who was poking at his eggs half-heartedly, one hand holding up his head. Magnus grabbed a pot of coffee and some toast and decided to bring some up to Blitz.
Magnus knocked on Blitz’s office door and to his surprise Hearth in sweat pant pajamas answered. He waved for Magnus to come in ignoring Magnus’s confused look. Blitz was sitting on the couch head in his hands. The guy looked like death. He was clammy and had bags under his eyes. He groaned at the sound of the door closing. Magnus walked over and handed him some toast. Blitz took it and chewed on it slowly. Hearth poured a cup of coffee and shoved it in Blitz’s hand. Blitz immediately started draining the luke warm coffee like it was the elixir of life. After he finished his third cup he said.
“I am never drinking again?” he signed so that Hearth could hear as well.
Hearth rolled his eyes and signed “You said that last time” and then turned to pour him a fourth cup.
“Well at least you didn’t do anything embarrassing last night. The worst was that you bought everyone rounds and then fell into a bush" Magnus said and signed trying to make Blitz feel better.
“That would explain the twigs in my hair” Blitz mumbled into his coffee cup.
“What?” Hearth signed “Stop mumbling”
Blitz put his cup down and signed “Not important, never mind”
Hearth stood up and started filling a kettle at the sink and went to put it on the fire. He then went through Blitz’s drawers and pulled out some tea and a mug. He turned to Magnus and signed “Do you want tea?”
Magnus nodded then turned to the grumpy looking Blitz on the couch when Hearth turned his back to look for sugar. He raised his eyebrows at Blitz and quietly said.
“So are you two…is there something I’m missing?” he practically whispered the last part. He knew Hearth couldn’t hear him but still. Blitz looked a little like he had been caught stealing the last cookie from the cookie jar. He opened his mouth to responded but no sound came out. He then closed his mouth and sat in thought for a minute. He looked a little uncomfortable all of a sudden.
“Hey ummm I didn’t mean to be nosy. Just something Alex said last night. Plus you guys have been like super close lately. Like way more than usual.” Magnus said whispering again. Looking up to check that Hearth’s back was still turned. Magnus felt ok interrogating Blitz. Blitz was usually confident and didn’t keep many secrets. However he felt that if his new found suspicion was wrong Hearth was way more likely to be very upset that Magnus suggested what he was suggesting.
Blitz also glanced over at Hearth then back to Magnus. Hearth was now watching their conversation. Magnus couldn’t read his expression since Hearth had his usual unreadable guarded face on. But he still shifted his weight from foot to foot looking slightly restless, probably uncomfortable.
“Uummmm, well ...ya we’ve been kind of … I don’t really know the word … ummm together I guess would be the word. But don’t say anything kid. Hearth and I aren’t really comfortable enough to tell anyone yet” Blitz stammered out. He kept glancing at Hearth to see if he was going to interject, but Hearth didn’t really do anything except start to look awkward.
Magnus just nodded. “Hey man no problem. I’m actually happy to hear that. You two are adorable. As for keeping it to yourselves it might be a little hard. Blitz you kind of blew your cover last night. Alex now totally ships you.”
Hearth blushed so dark Magnus could see his face changing colour from across the room. Blitz just looked down at his now empty mug of coffee looking horrified. Hearth brought over the two mugs of tea and placed one down in front of Magnus. He took his and warmed his hands. Hearth went and sat down in the armchair by the fire still blushing slightly.
“At least it was just our friends” Hearth signed to Magnus and Blitz “Not students. Everyone last night are practically family. well they are really the only family I do have”
Blitz just groaned and signed. “I am never drinking again. I didn’t do anything too embarrassing with you did I?”
Hearth just shook his head. “Nah, you just get a little touchy when you’re drinking”
Magnus snorted and grinned at Blitz. He patted him on the back.
“Just little touchy. Plus Me and Alex both thought it was cute” Magnus joked.
Blitz just sighed, but Hearth flipped Magnus a very rude gesture.
“Speaking of last night” said Blitz obviously trying to change the subject. “Did I remember this right? Are Sam and Amir having a baby?” Hearth nodded vigorously obviously in an ‘excited’ Hearth manner.
Blitz grinned and Magnus smiled as they started talking about how happy they all were for Sam and Amir. Apparently according to Blitz they had been trying to a long time to have a baby. He then started going into a long explanation about an outfit he was going to make for the new baby for Sam and Amir.
Magnus stayed talking with Hearth and Blitz until around dinner. Just a typical happy Saturday. A Saturday he was so grateful to have.

Anita Baker, H.E.R., Meek Mill shine at BET Awards
Legendary singer Anita Baker was honored at the BET Awards with impressive performances that nearly brought the eight-time Grammy winner to tears.
Baker earned the Lifetime Achievement Award on Sunday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, where Ledisi, Marsha Ambrosius and Yolanda Adams — in superior form — sang the singer’s well-known hits onstage.
The 60-year-old, who dominated the R&B charts from the early ’80s to mid-90s with smooth songs like “Sweet Love” and “Giving You the Best That I Got,” used her speech to encourage the artists in the room to keep music alive.
“I would ask that the music be allowed to play, that singers are allowed to sing, and rappers are allowed to rap, and poets are allowed to rhyme,” Baker said.
Rising singer H.E.R. had the night’s best performance, as she sang the R&B hit “Focus,” played the electric guitar like a rock star and sang softly during the sweet love song “Best Part,” where she was joined by Daniel Caesar.
Rapper Meek Mill, who was released from prison in April, also captivated the audience with his performance: He rapped the song “Stay Woke” on a stage transformed into a street corner, featuring hustlers, children and police officers. A mother screams as her child is shot during the powerful performance, and an officer lays an American flag over the body.
Meek Mill also made a statement by wearing a hoodie featuring the face of XXXTentacion, the 20-year-old rapper-singer who died after being shot last week.
“We can’t get used to these types of things. We’re too used to young people getting killed,” host Jamie Foxx said when speaking about XXXTentacion later in the show.
The Oscar winner told the audience to “try to sneak a message in” their music.
“We got to figure something out,” he said.
Snoop Dogg celebrated 25 years in music, performing the classic songs “What’s My Name” and “Next Episode.” The rapper also performed songs from his recently released gospel album this year, wearing a choir robe on a stage that looked like a church.
Childish Gambino, whose song and music video “This Is America” tackles racism and gun violence and became a viral hit last month, gave a short, impromptu performance of the song when Foxx brought him onstage.
“Everybody begged me to do a joke about that song. I said that song should not be joked about,” Foxx said.
Foxx kicked off the show rejoicing in the uber success of “Black Panther,” namedropping the records the film has broken and even pulling Michael B. Jordan onstage.
“We don’t need a president right now because we got our king,” Foxx said of T’Challa. “(Director) Ryan Coogler gave us our king.”
Foxx entered the arena with a stuffed black panther toy — with a gold chain around its neck — which he handed to Jordan. He later pulled the “Creed” star onstage to recite a memorable line from “Black Panther.”
“Bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from ships, ’cause they knew death was better than bondage,” Jordan said to cheers from the audience, which included Childish Gambino, LL Cool and DJ Khaled.
The film went on to win best movie.
“The film is about our experiences being African Americas and also captures the experiences of being African,” Coogler said. “It was about tapping into the voice that tells us to be proud of who will are.”
At the end of his speech he told the audience to travel to Africa and learn more about the continent’s history.
Most of the awards, including video of the year, were not announced during the live telecast.
SZA, who was the most nominated woman at this year’s Grammys, won best new artist and said she’s “never won anything in front of other people.”
She dedicated the award to those “lost in the world,” saying: “Follow your passion … believe in yourself.”
“Girls Trip” star and comedian Tiffany Haddish, who gave her speech in a taped video after winning best actress, also said encouraging words.
“You can achieve anything you want in life,” she said.
DJ Khaled, who was the leading nominee with six, won the first award of the night — best collaboration — for “Wild Thoughts” with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. He was holding his son on his hip onstage and also used his speech to highlight young people.
“All of y’all are leaders and all of y’all are kings and queens — the future,” he said.
Migos won best group and gave a fun performance that even had Adams reciting the lyrics.
Nicki Minaj crawled on the floor a bit during her performance of two songs, and she later joined YG, 2 Chainz and Big Sean for “Big Bank.” Janelle Monae went from rapping to singing for top-notch performances of “Django Jane” and “I Like That,” and Miguel, in a white suit, was smooth as he sang the songs “Come Through and Chill” and “Sky Walker.”
The BET Awards normally hands its Humanitarian Award to one person, but six individuals received the honor Sunday. Dubbed “Humanitarian Heroes,” the network gave awards to James Shaw Jr., who wrestled an assault-style rifle away from a gunman in a Tennessee Waffle House in April; Anthony Borges, the 15-year-old student who was shot five times and is credited with saving the lives of at least 20 other students during February massacre in Florida; Mamoudou Gassama, who scaled an apartment building to save a child dangling from a balcony last month in Paris; Naomi Wadler, the 11-year-old who gave a memorable and influential speech at March for Our Lives; Justin Blackman, the only student to walk out of his high school in North Carolina during the nationwide student walkout to protest gun violence in March; and journalist and activist Shaun King.
Debra Lee, who stepped down as chairman and CEO of BET last month after 32 years at the network, earned the Ultimate Icon Award.
“The power of black culture is unmatched. It’s beautiful. It’s amazing. It’s everything. It’s us,” she said.
She ended her speech quoting former U.S. President Barack Obama, calling him “our commander in chief,” which drew loud applause from the crowd.
“And, it’s Debra Lee, out,” she said as she dropped her imaginary microphone.
