Author notes: VERY INSPIRED by Possibly in Michigan - Animal Cannibal, Reader is smart and took criminology in college. loosely based off of season one episode fifteen, I thought of this when talking to myself at 12:03 am as any good fic writer does.

The three of you had been in the small town of Bayfield, Wisconsin for almost a week now and still barely anything had come up about the seven missing people. From what you had figured out, there was a sort of pattern; they were always taken at night and it was always in pairs.

Dean assumed it was a demon, but something didn’t feel right to you. Demon’s were vicious, masochistic, it didn’t make sense for them to take a person and not parade the kill about the town for all to see. Sam thought it could be a vamp, maybe even a rugaru, but you weren’t sure.

”How’s the research goin?” Dean asked nonchalantly as he walked back into the damp motel room, a bag of beers and snacks in his hand. You looked up from your uncomfortable position on the bed with an exasperated look and Sam leaned back on his chair. That was all the answer he needed. “So we’ve still got no clue at all?” He continued, turning to look at you, “and you’re sure it’s not a demon.”

You shook your head, “not completely, but it just doesn’t make sense for the profile.” Sam smiled slightly as you spoke; you could’ve been an FBI agent (meaning you probably would’ve ended up crossing paths anyway) but instead you chose the hunting life. Despite this, the criminologist in you snuck out sometimes, something very useful to the two. “If it were a demon, it would be an outlier, one who had either devolved or worked differently.”

There was silence for a while and Sam sighed, pulling his hands through his hair. It was getting longer now, the tips of it tickling his jawline  every so often. “What if they’re human?” He began, “nothing about this screams monster.” Sam turned to look at you, wanting your input.

”Well what would you prefer, a monster who we know how to kill, doing something we’d expect, or a human, who may be completely insane, doing this purely because they can.” Somehow the second option seemed scarier to the three of you.

Time passed the three of you in comfortable silence, interrupted only by the low humming of MTV reruns coming from the TV Dean had put on. Sam was the first to fall asleep, leaning his head gently against his book. Dean followed soon after, his ability to fall asleep pretty much anywhere was something you had always envied. This left you in a half-awake stupor, trying to get some last few moments of research in before falling asleep like the two boys in front of you.

Eventually, you called it quits and closed your book, heading over to Sam to do the same for him. You gently replaced John’s diary with a small pillow and were placing Sam’s coat over his shoulders when you heard a crash outside. This area was known for raccoons but the noise sounded too loud to be an animal. You shook Sam awake and pulled the knife from your waistband, preparing for whatever might be outside.

Sam blearily looked over at you, standing up quickly despite the tiredness that clung to him when he saw the look in your eyes. He followed soon after, his gun firmly in his grip as the two of you walked out the door.

It was almost impossibly cold outside, the mist of the early morning clinging to your clothes. You pulled your jacket closer to you and turned round the corner into the alley, both of you with weapons raised. “Are you sure it wasn’t just a drunk guy?” Sam asked tiredly as he slowly lowered his gun. You shook your head in confusion and turned round to face him.

”It could’ve been, but something just…felt off.” You replied. It had always been impressive, your intuition - Dean had called it witch-adjacent. Neither of you were concentrating on your surroundings, talking quietly between yourself when Sam’s eyes widened and he went to raise his gun again. Though, you didn’t get a chance to fight back as pain bled through your skull. You fell to the floor as the sharp crack of Sam’s gun went off and the final thing you saw before darkness clouded over your eyes was Sam’s unconscious figure beside you.

This is where you are now, waking to an unbearable pain, cold metal stinging against your skin as you come to your senses, your body racked with shivers. You sit up slowly, trying to adjust to the darkness of the room. The only light that streams through was from a dirty, mould ridden window that tints the area with a sickly green. You can hear the sharp breaths of another person from across the room and small, pained cries echo across the dark every so often. “Y/n.” The voice whispers, out of breath and harsh. You move slowly, eyes flitting across the darkness to find the source of the voice.

Sam sits in a cage of his own, hands harsh against the iron bars. His hair is damp and slick against the side of his face, face hollow and pinched from the fug of the basement. “What the hell is going on?” You reply, voice sharp from sleep.

You can see the surroundings through the thin strips of light, sun warping itself around cracked glass - it was day. “I don’t know. You’ve been asleep for a while, maybe three days. God, I thought you were dead.”

Silence spreads like a cancer. It’s been three days. Where was Dean? Did he know you were both gone? Did he care? Of course he did. You push the thought from your mind and move across the cage, hands clasping cold metal. The area wasn’t tall by any regard and you had to crouch to walk across - you felt bad for how uncomfortable Sam must be.

Eventually, you reach the other side where Sam was sitting and look at him with the same, unnatural quiet. He reaches a shaking hand across the space and clasps it over your own. He is cold, hands sweaty - though you find that you don’t care. You and Sam had always been close, leaning against one another during research or allowing him to plait your hair (and you to him if he was stressed). You run your hands over his in repetitive, soothing motions and lean your head against the rusty metal.

Sam sighs, though you aren’t sure of the emotion behind it. His hands work over your knuckles, almost as if he was massaging them, though he moves away quickly when a door opens at the top of the stairs. It shines a new light in, one that’s warm and forgiving - it feels like a new world.

Eager heeled footsteps click down the endless stairs and come to rest by a third cage, her hands laying on the side as if it were simply a wall. “Thank goodness, I was wondering when you’d wake!” She speaks cheerily, hands now clasped together. The caged woman edges closer to the light, you can see a shining, silver cross necklace resting against her chest, the metal contrasting against her dirtied skin.

There’s an almost silent click and the door in front of you swings open, creaking and worn. Sam is first to exit, his hands being chained to a small lead she holds in her palm. You felt like a dog, some kind of rabid animal she was trying to tame. She leads the three of you up the stairs, metal chains clinking miserably against your wrist.

The two of you look around your surroundings, surveying every corner, crack and door with a pinprick precision. You can see Sam’s hand instinctively move to his waistband - though you know there’d be nothing there. The three of you are led into a small dining area, lit with the homely glow of candles. You could almost laugh at the difference.

Lori, as she had introduced herself, sits you down with a smile and places a plate in front of you. It’s warm and suddenly reminds you that you haven't eaten in a while. You share a wary look with Sam and lean back in your chair, you’re not an idiot.

The girl opposite you, a tangle of sinew and bone, eats silently, hair withered and face gaunt - God knows how long she’s been here.

She’s pretty, she would’ve been. The girl has a sharp hooked nose and deep brown eyes, skin dark and warm. But she’s lost her hope, and with hope goes will, strength and livelihood. Though beauty seems to have stayed.

From her, you come to the conclusion that the food wasn’t poisoned, but you don’t want to test it anyway - you won’t accept food from someone who kidnapped you.

The room is quiet, the only sound being the crackle of candles and the repeated scrape of a fork on a plate. 

It’s a winding path to sleep, something Sam doesn’t seem to be blessed with any more. His hands shake in yours, his eyes screwed shut. This is you, sitting, waiting for the path to end, withering resolve and aching eyes. This is you, standing on the shoreline as Hero - a goddess' daughter - as your Leander’s searchlight dims. This is you, letting time slip from your fingertips like golden blood.

The routine continues like a paper mobius strip, one that’s tearing. There’s an end, you can see it carving itself into marble - but it’s an ending you do not want for Sam.

It’s in this routine now, that you wake, hold a slowly succumbing hand in yours, refuse to eat and you hold Sam’s hand once more. It’s made you think more than you’d like, about time. About stories. Sam shivers, almost like clockwork now. His shirt is baggy against hollow bones and the tattoo on his breast seems wilted, like it won’t offer protection. He whispers too, short sentences you can never grasp.

The only word you’ve ever understood is a drawn out, yearning, “Please.”

There had been an offer of treatment, of safety. But Sam had seen to have found a sanctity in his suffering, he tells himself it’s a blessing, reminding him his limbs still ached, his body still yearned. Sam spits at the feet of his saviour and is rewarded with a harsh whip-like slap across his cheek.

He crumbles, rocks slipping from a cliff face, and grows still. “Sam?” You whisper, afraid. You were afraid most days now. 

There’s a moment, then a breath and you lean forward to brush the hair from his eyes. Dean would know what to do - he had always known. Instead you hold his hand again, there’s not much else you can do.

The woman in the corner weeps. It had been the first time she had dared to make a sound, perhaps the violence had scared her.

“Oh, my dear.” Lori speaks soothingly, smiling with bared teeth of mock sympathy. “Come along, let’s calm you down.”

The words feel like an attempt to cajole a scared kitten, but the glint in her eyes shines radiant in the dark. You and Sam don’t see the woman again.

“Where do you think he is?” Sam asks, leaning against the bars. A welt has risen on his face and a large cut streaks across his angled cheek from Lori’s ring. He looks like a corpse, a victim of an illness that never stops taking.

You don’t reply, he nods. Every so often, Sam holds your hand, rubbing your palm with his thumb, and you’d be Hero once more, seeing Leander for the first time at the festival. Though, he lets go eventually (he always did) and as he pulls away, his livelihood drowns - searchlight fading.

In the evening, careful hands guid you up the stairs once more, careful not to touch the raw skin around the handcuffs. Hunger picks at you, stretching your skin over your bones. You look at Sam, allowing a mournful sigh to escape from you. The both of you are dying, it’s something you have accepted, but you can’t bear the thought that he’ll die before you.

You’ve listed every single thing that changed in your mind, every time he shivers, every time the bags under his eyes darken. Maybe it’s become a way to cope. The both of you sit and Sam’s near shoulder length hair falls in front of his eyes - it was an indication of how much time has passed. The both of you have no choice tonight, you have to eat.

This was the choice. You sit, silent, and know that you are giving in to the final piece of defiance you have. You watch while self-loathing washes over Sam’s face as he too is forced to make the same choice, his body weaker than his mind. This is the choice; let go of your morals. Or die.

It’s almost funny how quickly morals leave you in the face of death.

You find there’s no way to delay it either. You have already analysed every movement of Lori’s. Every breath is calculated, every smile is vicious and hungry. So, with one final look toward your closest friend, you bite into the grey meat, the taste of something akin to pork overwhelming you. It’s stringy, but it still tastes like the best thing you had ever eaten - perhaps it was the amount of time you had had in between meals. You take a bite of the mash on the side and feel something cold and metallic in your mouth.

You breathe in sharply and sit in place, slowly moving your hand toward your mouth. There’s a moment of emptiness before your realisation, a stillness as you hope the silver cross necklace you had pulled from your teeth did not mean what you thought it did. You release a shaky breath and hold a hand to your mouth, feeling sick to your stomach.

You had eaten her.

“Sam.”

The whisper is almost inaudible. You’d never spoken at the table before and, though it was allowed, you feel as though you’re breaking a rule. He looks up and his eyes widen, seeing how quickly your face has paled. You look down at the plate, then back at him, shaking your head in a warning motion.

It’s only now he sees the necklace in your palm, pieces of dried blood sticking to it. Lori hadn’t even bothered to clean it - she had probably meant to throw it away. You lean back in your chair, looking out the window to your left and seeing how the trees stretch for miles past it, leaves heavy with snow. You weren’t sure when it had snowed. You try not to cry.

“Are you alright dear?” Lori asks, tension cutting across the room. Your head turns slowly, tears falling down your cheeks like hot tar, eyes wide, sucking in quick breaths. Sam seems scared - you look animalistic.

You hold up the necklace. “Did you make us eat her?” Your voice is unnatural, toneless and uncaring - a stark difference to the look on your face. Lori smiles. All she ever fucking does is smile.

You stare silently, face set with fear as she approaches, placing a manicured and veiny hand on your shallow cheek. You turn your head to the side, but her hand never leaves your face.

“Did you enjoy it?” It almost wasn’t a question - not when she knew the answer. You turn back to face her and her hand moves across your face, coming to rest by the corner of your mouth.

If you were to be treated like some kind of animal, that’s what she’d receive. You bite down hard, ignoring the scream as your teeth carve through her finger. You get to bone and pull, degloving the skin and muscle from her finger and holding it in your mouth like a dog. Then, just as she looks back to you, you spit it onto your plate with an almost smile.

Sam looks at you with an unreadable expression. You meet his eyes, ignore the feeling that settles in your stomach and simply reply, “We’re done with our meal.”

Lori pushes you down the staircase and into one singular cage, being in too much pain to open each individually. This is your plan. She closes the doors and snaps the keys. This is your plan.

Sam is withering, flu-like and scared. “Why?” he asks quietly, moving from your arms. “Why would you do that?” his eyes are wide, begging. Tears litter his cheeks. He’s given up thinking there’s a way to be saved. He’s grown accustomed to dying behind rusted metal bars.

You don’t reply and with blood stained lips you kiss him, trying to offer reassurance. He returns your kiss with a sigh, his pained fever making his skin hot to touch. He leans into you, hands holding your waist as if you’d disappear. You pull away and cradle him, gently brushing shaking hands through his hair. You kiss his forehead every now and then, staining his skin with darkening red.

Everything about you is strangely calm. You don’t fear Lori, not now you have seen her bleed. She could die. She would. You fall asleep almost smiling; she would, she would.

Lori wakes you in the early morning, hand bandaged and face stern. There’s no more smiling. Thank God. Your confidence chipped at her, annoyed her. It’s your turn to smile now. She unlocks the cage to move you to your own - you knew she’d had a spare key, she loved theatrics. As soon as you stand to move to your own cage you sprint, knocking her to the floor.

You knew you would’ve won, but weak monsters always bring a weapon when they feared the Hero the most. Though, you refuse to be Hero. There is no Leander, there is no searchlight. It’s you and Sam: wild eyes, knotted hair and blood stains. 

A knife pushes you off of her, sinking itself into your abdomen with aim and anger. Lori had known you’d bite again.

Your breath escapes you, blood seeping from your sullen skin. You fall into the agony, screaming out to the sky. It’s not the single cut that would’ve killed you, it's the anger. Lori stands now, placing a foot against your throat. “A rabid dog bites three times before it’s greeted with death's hands, a rabid human? They get one chance.” She whispers, her words distant.

Behind the both of you, Sam slowly rises, hands clenched in fists, teeth baring. Her head hits the floor first, a horrible crack echoing in the basement. Screams had a way of sinking into you, biting at your heart, but these made you strong. You stand beside Sam as he hits her, ripping the fabric of your large jacket to tie around your wound.

You let him kill her.

Sam lifts you up the stairs and you help him walk through the cold, each taking turns to keep the other alive. You walk through the snow, damp and ripped clothes doing nothing to keep you warm. It feels as though it’s been hours and eventually, Sam collapses into you, the both of you falling to the soft snow. 

He kneels forward into you and you hold his face gently. The image was almost too familiar; Sam falling into the arms of someone he loves, face slick with tears and body weak. He had died too much already, you wouldn’t let it happen again.

You kiss his jawline so softly it might’ve been a snowflake landing on his bruised skin and he lifts his head. “Sorry.” he mutters repeatedly, a slurry of vowels and tears. You don’t dare to shush him, it wouldn’t help anything, it wouldn’t stop him. “I’m so sorry.”

You kiss him again. “None of this was ever your fault,” You whisper, voice tired and teeth stained. After a while, you try to move again, stumbling over only the iced floor. There’s a cough from Sam that pushes blood to his mouth, then he’s losing his footing again and falling into you, his hand pressing into the wound on your abdomen. You cry out, collapsing to the floor, spilling red on the pure white snow.

It’s his turn to hold you now, muttering endless apologies and ripping his own clothes to rebandage you; his skin is pale, a majority of his muscle eaten away by time and hunger. He looked like a corpse. You lie there, cold and silent as his hands shake, tying knots as though it’s routine. He pushes past his own pain, placing a blood stained hand on your cheek and whispering to you. You shiver under his touch and it shocks you how much you’ve missed being near him. You smile gently, and bury your head into his shoulder. The both of you sit there for a while, slowly freezing and holding each other with a softness you hadn’t felt in a while.

Eventually, you reach the road and lean against a barrier, slowly, softly. He kisses your collarbone as he leans into you and you both wait to die.

“I love you.” You whisper, ready to close your eyes and not open them again. He sighs almost contently, his lips finding your skin again. Your fingers were red and sore, blood picking at the frost.

“I love you,” he replies.

Just as the two of you close your eyes with a sad acceptance, there’s a roar of an engine you recognise. The wheels screech, a voice yells, but neither of you respond. Sam’s fallen asleep now and you don’t have the energy to speak. Hands grip your shoulders, press down to stop the flow of blood, scream your name. You can see him in a blur, but there’s not enough in you to react. Your eyes close and it’s something you’re ok with.

You wake up slowly, bleach biting at your nose. The room is stark white and clean - beeping rings in your ears. You’re alone. You climb out of the hospital bed and wince, the wound clean, but still painful. It didn’t take you long for you to find Dean, his voice loud against the hush of the ward. He turns, eyes locking onto you and grins, running over and leaving the doctor he was talking to behind. His arms wrap around you, soft and welcoming. “Thought the both of you had left me. Took me a month and a bit to find you.” He pulls away, smiling, “You’re both too strong, found your own way out.” He’s happy, Sam’s alive.

He sees the look in your eyes, he knows. “He’s inside, not awake yet.” He replies, voice softer now. You spare one more, thankful glance at your best friend and make your way to Sam’s room.

Sam lies there, still and peaceful. His cheeks are brighter and his bones hidden by strength once more. You sit by his side, eyes tired, and wait for him to wake up. He will, he has to. Eventually, sleep takes you and you lean against his bed, head resting on his chest to feel the gentle rise and fall. Your hand holds his, there’s not much else you can do.

“Aren’t you meant to be in your own bed?” A voice asks and your eyes open to see him smiling at you. His hair is brushed back and his skin is clean of dirt. He sounds okay.

You laugh slightly, smiling for the first time in a month and reply, “I had better things to do.” You lean forward, kissing his lips softly, careful not to hurt either of you. He returns the sentiment, hand tying itself into your hair. You hold his face, thumb tracing his jawline, and smile as you pull away.

He stays there, noses touching slightly. You’re centimetres apart. “You’re lucky I’m not infectious.” He whispers. You laugh again and move your hands to gently clasp the back of his neck.

“I wouldn’t care anyway.”

Sam kisses you again.

so in Rebel Robin, though it’s focused on Robin and acknowledges the weird things that happen in Hawkins (will and barb’s disappearances, respectively), the author, A.R. Capetta, does a really good job of building Hawkins. and by building Hawkins, i mean they make it very clear that it could’ve been Robin.

in chapter fifteen of the book, November 6th, 1983, Robin is at her friend Milton’s house. They’re hanging out, watching MTV, eating dinner, etc. Robin has to go home at some point, and her only mode of transportation is a bike. Here is the scene where she bikes home.

“...There’s a rustle in the undergrowth at the side of the road. I try to ignore it. I do whatever I can to keep the strange skittering sound from sending nervous flicks of fear across my skin. I ride faster, my wheels now blazing a straight arrow down the road. I hum a little bit of the first song I can find in my head, “Hungry Like the Wolf,” but the rustle seems to get louder in response. I shout the lyrics at the top of my lungs.” (pg 120.) “Headlights pierce the night behind me, and the rustling goes quiet as a car passes. Right when I let myself believe it’s gone, it comes back. Louder. Closer. There’s another sound beneath it, soft and pulsing. Something like blood rushing through a heart or breath dragged up a windpipe. I pull onto my street and by the time I drop my bike in the driveway, I'm running scared and I don't care who knows it. I sprint to the door--thank God it's unlocked--slam it shut, twist the lock behind me, and push my back against the solid wood." (pg. 121.) "...I pick it up, hoping for a voice. Any voice. I hear a second of hard breathing and I think that whatever just happened to me is happening to someone else in Hawkins." (pg. 121-122.)

After this, the power goes out, starting with the Byers' house (as we've seen in the show), and then Robin's goes out fairly quickly after her experience (which leads me to believe that she doesn't live that far from Will. Especially since it seems like the Demogorgon was trailing after her, too.) You could replace Robin in some of these scenes with Will, and it would read almost exactly the same as Will's disappearance. It got me thinking, though, and there are two ways that this train of thought has taken me, and now you all have to hear about it.

The first train of thought is this: What if Robin had been taken instead of Will? What would that look like? Who would search for her? she's not friends with Steve or Nancy or Jonathan at this point. (in fact, she actively resents two of these people.) Besides Milton and maybe Kate, I doubt her friends would've searched for her. Dash is a mix of Tommy H and season 1 Steve, and his control over Kate is reminiscent of Steve and Nancy. (which is the point, i know.) but in this case, Barb still would've disappeared, meaning that Nancy still had to search for Barb and fight some Demogorgons. I doubt her parents would've done too much, as she states that they "don't believe in worrying." Not only that, but her parents have admitted to her that she was an accident, "My parents had me by accident (nobody gets pregnant in a VW van on purpose)..." (pg. 40.) and she's described by her parents as "not a hard child to raise" and through several scenes in the book Robin indicates that she's practically raised herself, her parents are nothing short of neglectful, only parenting when they absolutely have to. But this question haunts me because it's one that changes the trajectory of the whole show. because if this is the case, does Nancy still find Jonathan? do they really go fight the Demogorgon together? do they go searching for Barb and then find Eleven? what then of Robin? Do they go in search of Barb, only to find a dead Barb and a barely alive Robin? and what about Hopper and Joyce? Furthermore, what would happen in a season 2 situation with the Mind Flayer? Who would be there to notice if she was acting differently--possessed by the Mind Flayer? certainly not her parents.

what this train of thought proves to me is that, at least, in the first two seasons, could not progress without a character like Joyce because her worry and love for her son drive her to the actions that put this plot in motion. If Joyce had acted anything like Robin's parents, the story would have fallen apart.

The second train of thought (and a much more fun train one) is this: What if the Demogorgon got both Will and Robin? They both disappear into the Upside Down, trying to survive. I figure that Robin would do what she can to protect both of them, considering that when she first meets Will, the first thing she wants to do is to comfort him and tell him that life gets better, but the second thing she wishes she could do is to run away from Hawkins. So now Hawkins has three missing kids; Will, Robin, and Barb. I imagine that much of the season would be the same. I would also imagine that Will and Robin traversing the Upside Down would've been a great dynamic to see. Perhaps it's Robin who's trying to contact Joyce through the phone or figures out that the lights can send messages through the Upside Down--prompting Will to send his messages to Joyce. When Eleven has to find them in the sensory deprivation, she finds them and tells Joyce and Hopper that there's someone there with Will, hiding the both of them from the Demogorgon. When Joyce and Hopper finally find Will, they find Robin there too, barely alive but Hopper grabs her as well and they make it out. I would assume that Joyce would thank Robin profusely for keeping an eye on Will and that Robin would practically be adopted by Joyce.

I'd also like to think season 2 would've been wayyy different. The Mind Flayer takes one of them or the other (or both) and opens a whole new world of possibilities.

Sorry, this post got out of hand; I was skimming Rebel Robin and didn't notice this until I skimmed it. Anyways, feel free to add to this post, I came across this in the book and knew i had to talk about it lol!

on fire: a teen wolf novel chapters 1-3

on fire was published on july 17, 2012. the day after raving had aired during the show's second season.

it was written by nancy holder who has written many, many tie-in books for multiple franchises but most notably she wrote novels for the buffyverse.

by tapping nancy holder to write the novel confirms to me that mtv was trying to do what teen wolf's spiritual predecessors did and create tie-in novels with the show and on fire was testing the waters for that.

it did not succeed because teen wolf doesn't have the kind of space for that. the timeline is too tight. teen wolf was part of the new netflix binge era. it had a seasons of 12 episodes that were wall-to-wall plot. there weren't silly filler episodes and they didn't do monster of the week plots.

on fire assumes that you have seen episodes 1-5 of the show but it is also an AU of season 1 post-the tell.

i get the vibe that the author was given notes, some information or like an outline that she used to build a plot so it's interesting to see what tid-bits holder uses and refers to that still gel with canon or is consistent with what we know.

this isn't a novelization of season 1 that's for sure but, hey, i took notes.

i'm going to break the novel up into 3 chapter chunks.

so without further ado let's get into it. on fire: a teen wolf novel or as i've been thinkin of it as.

the novel starts right at the very end of the tell after the parent teacher conferences. 

the way it's described when argent shoots the mountain lion brings to mind the scene in to kill a mockingbird when atticus shoots the rabid dog. chris argent is no atticus finch but he sure does learn to walk a mile in someone else's shoes doesn't he?

i somehow always manage to forget that the tell is the episode where allison turns 17. she doesn’t live to see her 18th birthday. shot through the heart man. 

oh my fucking god scott. the way this is written i imagine holder is trying to invoke derek and kate as if there’s some wild age gap between him and allison when they're like 9 months apart in age. allison is not kate jesus chris. look at this shit:

“scott hadn’t known allison was seventeen, a year older than the other kids in their class -- older than him -- and didn’t want anyone to know.”

Fuck Rafael McCall. Meet me outside and catch these hands.

“he knew his dad wasn’t keeping up with child support payments. not that his mom had ever mentioned it.”

this is where the transition into heart monitor would be. it is a pretty terrifying dream scott has. peter’s such a dramatic bitch. scott’s dreaming of being in the woods with everything on fire and then he’s being compelled by peter to come kill with him. which just reinforces my whole thing about peter and scott being psychically connected. we don’t see this with any other alpha-beta connection to this degree. derek senses victoria killing scott in raving but we really do not get this in the show very much as it seems to be a Dark Sided power. but we do see peter use it again in season 6a with the whole “you were my beta first” scene. 

scott mentions stiles’s having ADHD so to me that means that nancy holder was definitely working with the idea that stiles does have it. stiles having ADHD seems like a plot thread that got dropped really quickly by the show but remained in dylan’s acting choices and in fandom’s mind.

scott is the only beta we see experience sleepwalking episodes. it seems tied to the compulsion and mental link he shares with feral alpha peter.

the entire paragraph is something. firstly, it wasn't until night school, the episode after this one, that peter tried to push scott into killing his “pack”. but lol melissa called stiles scott’s “litter mate” and stiles wearing his target shirt that he wore in wolf moon and the one that subtextually could reference the nemeton and eventually scott's pack symbol. i don't believe we ever actually saw that shirt again. the tragedy.

“stiles had on his bullseye t-shirt, and it kind of freaked scott out when he wore it. as if it meant that stiles were a target. They both knew the Alpha wanted Scott to kill him to cement Scott’s acceptance that he was a member of the Alpha’s pack. Who better to take down than the guy Scott’s mom had once referred to as his “litter mate”?”

this is where it's starting to get kind of weird because the plot of this book takes place during season 1 but it’s not strictly following the plot. it feels like an alternate season 1.

jackson has gone missing. when is he not missing is the more appropriate question? 

so chapter 2 starts with scott and stiles joining lydia and allison at The Popular Kids Table to discuss jackson being missing. this wouldn’t have happened in season 1. this dynamic didn’t exist until at minimum season 3. lydia didn’t even acknowledge stiles’s existence until the winter formal at the end of the season. 

jackson’s parents apparently went to paris right after the parent-teacher conference, leaving their high school age child alone for an extended period of time in the middle of the school year? what? no wonder jackson’s fucked up. why didn’t they just go around christmas and instead they waited another three weeks or some shit. that is weird.

jackson’s been left a note from a supposed private investigator about his birth parents while his parents are out of town, which is totally not sus at all. 🙄🙄 lydia's concerned about him looking stupid so she won’t go to the sheriff and she doesn’t even approach jackson’s best friend danny. like, danny would know a lot more about jackson than scott or stiles would. lydia, i know allison is the one who involved scott but for fuck’s sake. 

look even a page later lydia says “he and jackson barely know each other.” then why are you involving scott in what you seem to believe is a personal matter? 

do people just generally know jackson was adopted? i can see lydia knowing but scott and stiles? allison just fucking moved there so she doesn’t know anything about anyone. this is quite the personal piece of information i doubt he’d want others to know lydia. 

this is such an AU because after the parent-teacher conference stiles was giving scott the cold shoulder due to his dad being hurt. 

also stiles is supposedly sitting at this table the entire time lydia, allison and scott are talking and has not given his opinion on the matter yet. very unlike him. if there's one thing stiles has it's opinions on jackson and his father's job. stiles would be all over this.

this fucking line is brutal man -- “stiles was the only person on the planet who knew he had become a werewolf. well, derek knew, too, but derek hardly counted as a person.” that said, i do think it’s accurate to scott’s headspace at this point regarding derek. avoiding seeing derek as a person is a way of detaching himself from the situation he’s found himself in. 

alright so we’ve got a POV change to allison --a nd it’s all about how cute acott is. allison I love you but chill please. 

okay so this is interesting. “her mom had been angry, too. allison could tell that if had been left up to her, she wouldn’t have been so harsh about having to stay all weekend. her mom liked scott.” are we sure we’re talking about the same victoria argent? granted this is pre-werewolf reveal so as far as victoria knows allison is just mooning over a nice normal human boy but i have a hard time imagining this being the same victoria who gave us the crazy eyes and the sharpening your dick metaphor.

this still haunts me.

"except i won’t get to spend time with scott except at school until i’m, oh, 112.” oh right in the feels

this book really assumes you’ve seen episodes 1-5 of the first season. allison’s mentioning aunt kate and the necklace in a way that makes the assumption the reader knows who and what they are. 

jackson’s password for his tracking app is “captain”. that is worse than the password being lydia or like scott famously having allison as his password. y’all suck and have shitty computer security.

these kids are sophomores in high school and lydia and allison are really having a discussion about jackson going to a pay by the hour motel as if that’s a thing 15-16 year olds do in the california subburbs on a regular basis. as if jackson would lower himself in such a way to begin with. he’s snobby as fuck. it’s such a weird conversation.

i am page 20 and i feel like so far this author hasn’t been very nice to stiles. not having him say a word in the lunch conversation about jackson despite not only being very opinionated about jackson whittermore’s general existence he’d also have thoughts on a missing person. like, he didn’t even speak when his dad was brought up as a possible avenue of help which is odd. then about a page later there’s this sort of tone used around stiles that feels condescending about him being hyperactive.

this paragraph is, uh, something that could’ve only been written in 2012 because it feels gross:

“lydia shrugged. then she turned to allison. “tell you what. if the boys are willing to the motel for us ---” “to a motel. to look for a guy,” stiles said. ”maybe you should ask danny?” danny, their lacrosse team goalie, was gay, out and proud. “he could act, you know, more casual about it.”

that said, it does track with stiles being overly occupied with the perception of his sexuality and that danny does shit he’s way too young to be doing which is written around his sexuality. remember the whole older boyfriend and going to the jungle thing is season 2? 

it has been like 23 pages and allison’s got this subplot where she wants to have sex with scott. like girlie you’ve known scott for 2 days, keep your pants on. (it keeps coming up with scott too and it's annoying, okay).

it took stiles barely a paragraph to mention derek hale when the point of view switched to him. sir. 

i’m laughing at how derek’s point of view is paired with stiles in the way that scott and allison’s are. even in the non-canon book the Sterek Agenda is there. 

“a prankster with a wicked sense of humor.” is what derek refers to peter as before the fire. is that what we are calling it derek because i would disagree.

“i dreamed of other alphas coming after me. why? it’s not a crime to kill an alpha. i’m a werewolf. the way we progress in status is through challenge.” now this is an interesting perspective. werewolves progress via challenges. that's still sort of in-line with what we see in canon.

allison and scott are driving into the seedier side of town. AKA what seems to be where the poors live. scott describes seeing boarded up buildings, pawn shops and “some kind of clinic where you could sell your blood.” which I assume is a plasma center where people donate and get paid in return and this little classist shit says “remind me to never get a blood transfusion.” god he’s such a 16 year old..

I love the term “across the pond”, which suggests that England, the mother country for the USA, is only a hop and a skip away, when in truth, the spaces between us are enormous.  The innovations transferring from one continent to the other, especially with respect to music and fashion, have always had a strange and years-away delay that has been ongoing since the very beginning, as if the ideas were always awaiting the right winds, funding, and large, cumbersome, three-masted ships from the Colonial period to bring them over to us.  Part of Modernism is to assume the new world will be changed; part of reality is that the change, as delivered, is much more elusive.

In 1982 the Second British Invasion was brought to the United States in color on MTV, and was ushered in by two very important videos: first and foremost with the complete smash “Don’t You Want Me” by The Human League (an electro masterpiece and forever influential) and then by Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like The Wolf”, their first bonafide, giant US hit.  It wasn’t just MTV that had them on heavy rotation, it was nonstop over the airwaves as well: these two songs nearly swallowed up the 1982-83 season for radio.  In truth there was so much happening with British artists over here that year it is dizzying to consider; sound and image were delivered with enormous speed, and very persuasively.  It was a very rapid musical turnover (and considering my previous thoughts, I know this is ironic; however, a backlog is a backlog.)  The only problem for me that year was that I loathed “Hungry Like The Wolf”; this included the song, and the stupid video, in which I believe Simon Le Bon is in animal drag pursuing a female through the jungle, but I can’t be sure: I refuse to look at it again after being forced to 500 times.  I was also only mildly interested at the time in “Don’t You Want Me”, after being worn down by its’ endless radio play in the US.  However, the invasion had begun.

As a teenager, there was a lot to process in 1982/83: music was now television, and MTV was our god.  I wasn’t staying up late to look at the Brits, I was staying up late waiting for Prince to appear in a haze of multi-colored, neon-infused fog spinning around in high-heeled boots to “Little Red Corvette” (an incredible fusion of sound and image).  There was a lot to look over: Men at Work with “Who Can It Be Now”, A Flock of Seagull’s “I Ran (So Far Away)” which was HUGE in the states, and even Bowie, the originator, coming back from the dead with the future-forward “Ashes to Ashes” being re-aired (1980).  The Vee-jays talked and talked, and we absorbed every scene.  

In 1983 Duran issued their 8th single, “Is There Something I Should Know?” straight to MTV in a video directed by Russell Mulcahy, and it was at this moment that I sat up and took notice.  Technically the band had already conquered the UK and the US, but it took forever for these ideas to sail my way.  Capitol Records was looking for another hit and had the band create this track after their best album, Rio, was already a sensation, and they were starting to work on their third, Seven and the Ragged Tiger (a hilariously late-imperial and overblown, if rather beautiful, mess). For me, watching on TV, this video was my first impression of The New Romantics ever.  Even though DD's style had already moved forward into clothes that were more New wave, I could sense the old style running through the images.  Mulcahy, a true innovator in music videos, had directed many of Duran Duran’s previous clips, as well as for many other artists (notably Buggles “Video Killed The Radio Star”, MTVs first-ever video broadcast, and most representatively Duran’s “Planet Earth”, which, shockingly, I had missed).  His work initiated many of the classic techniques in video: spot lighting, jump cuts, platform stages, empty spaces, slo-motion, breaking glass, fog, bifurcated screens, costumes, nonsense—you name it.

Unbeknownst to me at that time, Capitol tacked this single on to Duran Duran’s first, self-titled debut LP (1981) for the 1983 US re-release, to capitalize on the huge success of Rio’s “Hungry Like the Wolf”.  Until this post, I was always confused at the range of style changes and images that we took in from Duran in ’83, and why I assumed this look was from 1981.  We were all taking in so much British fashion then it was impossible to sort any of it out.  The video, however, was sharp, clean, and brilliant, the clothes still holding a bit of the New Romantic flounce and swagger, but cut leaner, and cleaner; the bandmembers, by now seasoned stars, had clothes, hair and makeup all perfected in an exactitude of knowing postures, and the song was one of their best, and hookiest, with old touches of guitar from their previous work, and with synth-work that looked forward to the next record.  But in 1983, I thought that this was vintage Duran.

Fashion is a curiously hard thing to pin down, especially considering the clothes from London and Birmingham in the late 70s and early 80s.  I would submit that a classic, classic New Romantic look would be the Duran Duran of 1981: lots of makeup, lots of flounce and ruffles, lots of teased up hair (even a ponytail, here or there).  The beginning of the look sprang up alongside of punk (which was anarchic and utilitarian); Bowie and Bolan would be among the New Romantic inspirations.  By the time of the 80s things moved quickly, and Malcolm McClaren and Vivienne Westwood’s Sex shop become involved (Westwood’s Pirate collection in 1981—think Adam and the Ants—is a clear expansion of New Romantic fashion); however the Sex shop was also an expression of Punk fashion, and much more avant-garde, so the ideas began to merge and mutate.  By 1983, to be called a New Romantic band became an insult (and to these eyes a downright homophobic assault on foppery and artifice) and many bands distanced themselves from the title, if not outright denied it. Even a band like Spandau Ballet (a true New Romantic sensation from the Blitz club in London) moved away from those associations, and began to wear suits.  With the Duran of 1983 everything was trimmed down but one could see they were unashamed; if their clothes flounced less, they still had the spirit in them.  This was in contrast to the bands that resented the association for whatever reason: ABC, Depeche Mode, The Human League, Soft Cell, Simple Minds, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, and Talk Talk.  The other band closely associated with it, Culture Club, was fronted by Boy George, whose fashion sense ran from Bowie to Punk.  He seemed neither to take offense nor to care what they called him as long as they were looking.

Back in America I was watching all of this late at night on television—too late.  Many of these styles had emerged and were already smoldering in the ashes before we could understand or appropriate them here.  New wave we got, New Romantic we did not.  It did all rather re-flower in the mid to late 80s for us, however.  Looking at the back of the vinyl from the offshoot band Arcadia (with three members of Duran, 1985) I would say their old style had returned.  Around this period there were lots of brooches and asymmetrical haircuts, lots of layers, and lots of unashamed extra everything from nearly every pop artist everywhere. I think the British divisions had finally synthesized into a catch-all aesthetic.  In fact, it was this extra-ness that we now think of in America when we think of 1980s pop music.

There were so many styles that emerged in the 80s from the streets, but none better than Bananarama, who were never hard to understand, being appropriated from street culture in England.  Like the Go-Gos, when you saw them, it was pretty clear what they were doing stylistically, and it was never anachronistic. US or UK, you just got it.

Researching this entry, and looking around on the internet, I became interested in the word “naff”, which because it is British has had many permutations, but mostly means awful, ugly, no-good.  I texted my friend British Rachel for the definition:

Me: Define “naff” Her: Deely Boppers and Ra Ra skirts. That was the 80s here.  Nightmare.   Thank god for Bananarama!

On an internet message board from The Guardian, I found a more complete, and complex, definition:

Naff is polari (or palare), the gay urban secret language developed in London to ensure conversational privacy in public when talking about gay sex or insulting straight people. Polari was widespread in London, and particularly in the theatre, from the 1940s-1960s, suffered a decline in the 1970s and 1980s, and has had a revival since the 1990s. It consists of snippets of Italian, Latin, Spanish, Yiddish, Cockney Rhyming Slang, Black-slang and acronyms. Naff is an example of the latter - Normal As Fuck - and means drab, unfashionable, dull. By extension, it is a defining characteristic of straight people, who lack the style and swagger of the urban homosexuals.

Death in teen wolf

First of all, people out here patiently waiting for me to rediscover any love for Teen Wolf are practicing a sort of faithful devotion that apocalyptic cults would envy. You are stronger than any US Marine.

As for your question, this is a great example of why it's hard to engage Teen Wolf in any sort of genuine critical textual analysis without conflating production bullshit with authorial intent.

Because death has no textual meaning in Teen Wolf. Let's start with what I consider to be the "Engaged" era of S1-3b, after which creator involvement decreased and production went to shit.

Major deaths in this era: Kate, Peter, Mr. Lahey, Victoria, Matt, Erica, Harris, Ennis, Boyd, Kali, Jennifer, Allison, Aiden, the Nogitsune

Of these, 50% were "season villains" featured heavily through the season and killed at the end. Of the rest, two (Lahey and Harris) were minor antagonists. Of the remaining five deaths that we might actually care about, two (that we know of) were because actors wanted to leave the show, not because of narrative intent.

And, of course, we must acknowledge that over a third of them came back from the dead. Why? Because it made sense in the narrative? Or, as I suspect is the case, simply because the actor was popular and/or asked to come back.

Now look at the number of characters who "left the country." I like to think of this, sardonically, as a Teen Wolf euphemism for death the way that "going west" or "riding off into the sunset" is a euphemism for death. Isaac was sent off to a nice farm in France where he'll have lots of room to run around, you see?

When a character died vs. "left," we had about equal odds of them coming back, and those odds had nothing to do with whether their resurrection/return made sense in the TW universe or narrative and everything to do with whether the right handshakes happened off-screen. Theo came back from Literal Hell while Kira, who ostensibly went to live in a cave a day's drive from Beacon Hills, was never seen again. Stiles is such a fan favorite, he can literally never be properly written off, despite the fact that the actor is almost certainly never returning. I haven't watched the movie, but I know Derek dies at the end, probably because Tyler Hoechlin was a producer and doesn't want to return - but in this franchise, death is no escape, baybee!!

What's my point?

In the S4 deadpool plotline, one-episode characters were dying left and right. By S5 there was a literal pile of dead bodies, to the point that, by S6 when people were being disappeared from Beacon Hills, my first thought was, "How is there anyone left to take??" My point is that, for minor characters, there was no emotion or humanity in death, only plot. For major characters, there wasn't any plot either, only contract disputes and popularity surveys. Of course they killed Boyd instead of Isaac. Isaac was a pretty white boy and therefore a fan favorite. Daniel Sharman got to keep his job until the second he didn't want it (half a season later), at which point Isaac went to that farm in France, meanwhile Sinqua Walls got fired and Boyd died.

My point is that Teen Wolf was a poorly-produced scripted show by a network that had never done a scripted show before, which lived and died by market research and product placements and which had no internal stability. My point is that, in an environment like that, it is nearly impossible to create a story with a cohesive narrative intent or any thematic value, and the cast of the movie is proof that, even out from under the shadow of MTV, the story cannot recover. That cast list, I bet you anything, is identical to the list of TW actors who were still sending Jeff Davis Christmas cards at the time he closed the deal with Paramount. I loved Allison as a character, but she didn't come back from the dead because that was the story that needed to be told. She came back because Swamp Thing didn't get renewed.

Death doesn't mean anything in Teen Wolf.

Hi, Brimi! What specific passion projects are you working on right now?

hey, good question here's a list!

starting with my writing. i started working on a story called faking It, a long fic, a few small short drabbles or shortfics, advancing older passion fic projects and requests from prompts which are usually short except an ambitious go of a story about fake dating and trauma, very teen movie esque or that was my intentions to play with.

the one i've been a busy bee with in this holiday season with others on the back burner or tinkering at, this is my like baby right now in terms of story. second, i'm doing holiday cards and holiday shopping while watching Christmas movies, eating Christmas cookies and writing this big longfic as some holiday hallmark vibe, home for the holidays heartwarming and fluffiest with some dark degrassi vibes and there you have, where are you now? loosely based on the song by britney spears, where emma is a star of britney, beyonce and taylor and the other pop girlies that is, in this universe. so like the female drake, but pop, upbeat girly anthems and pink pink pink, but her life is far from happy. the title comes from a song of the same album, albiet a deep cut a song that to me, i interpret fit too as if "where are you now?" is a story about someone she's much in love with, but for whatever reason there's nods to this in the story so it's a fitting title to me, because it harps about the grief behind a long love or loved one, but someone they can't shake they're living but they're also lost and they just want to know where they are, so they can feel closure by distance. boom.

it wasn't initally this much thought out, here's an inside story like I'm some episode of MTV cribs and stuff), like where i tell you all about how it came to be but I'll give you a brief synopsis.

taking it back to 2004, when i wrote my rough and i mean ROUGH idea. i used to think lyrics in songs were stories, beyond the music, behind the veneer of entertainment and i crafted and molded the characters with a general story of how they are in adulthood and what led them to the lives they live combined with the choices they made.

a difference with canon is craig and manning, the hosts of this holiday visit, and they all live together like full house the Jeremia-manning-santos household is a very chaotic but loving place to decvibe it. they're happy, frugal, average Canadian homebodies. they both have jobs, drive an escalade and craig has a vintage car in candy apple red with white interiors he keeps under lock and key a stuble nod to Ferris Bueller an 80's film, they all never really flew the coop but joey who plays a prominent grandfather to craig and manny's baby, who is now in 2023, an attractive mashup, a dark cloud sour puss who's been through some difficult times, grappling with grief and depression and headed for a breakdown and a fall from grace, a loss of innocence and a crisis of faith. stuck between a rock and hard place, craig and manny's daughter is unreachable, rebelling and internally screaming, but trying and failing to be 'perfect' for her mother and father, fighting them at every turn. it's my first go at a deeply flawed character who is blunt and honest. who has been through a lot in her life, despite having a loving family, but across the board. she's not popular, looks younger than she is, a late bloomer, innocent and smart, but doesn't apply herself or think much for herself. she is easily influenced by others and spouts out political commentary. She is average academically, nonremarkable, painfully realistic, or an attempt at a portrayal of someone like someone i know.

needless to say, i'm excited. it's something I'm committed too after having some writers block this year, i also was busy this fall and hard at work on even more passion projects. this is something i do before bed, to unwind. i work all day, and then if i have time i do edit and proofread. I'm not an expert or anything, i do the best i can and write what i feel or what compels or comes to me. i could type for HOURS and it doesn't phase me. i know i could use assistance knowing whats relevant to mention, but i think it's part of me and my charm to wordy, but does the job, natural speech trying to be a non partial narration, usually past tense and future stense or present is checked but third person with asides of course descriptive and stuff but that's the HARDEST PART is showing and not telling all the time.

to achieve that i do write montages or asides to achieve or speech or dialogue between characters or heavily imply through tones or describing but i try to make the believability more than canon because this is something i came up with while i wrote on the show BASED account and i toy with things that happen later. so for instance, craig and manny had a baby, but what are they happy now that she's older, no because they are passing ships in the night. unhappy but in a domestic partnership where they coexist but do their own thing, are more like roommates and less lovey-dovey on most occasions. I'm getting off track, but that's that story and I've been dying to talk about it since starting it in October and now I'm reaching the end of it and I'm actually going to miss this story that is a long time coming, almost 12 or 13 years ago i brainchilded this and only now getting to it. i think it's better than my rough draft a lot of changes were made and embellehsed and built upon.

i moved and relocated in mid-october, i've been slowly organizing and its been hard to make time but it's a pleasure to write. it really is. it feeds my need for semma to be happy, so in turn I'm happy and I'm itching to talk about it. my poor semma shipper boyfriend, he loves them, but i think it's because he knows i love it but he does really love them. so that's passion project one.

passion three, is the others such as faking it i mentioned before, is a fake au, where i was initially going with for the emma and jay summer romantic drama i wrote mostly during the pandemic being bored and even creating accompanying art work i vow to see through to my older projects and finish them out. i mean i have no excuse or whatever i should stop starting NEW fics but i am who I am.

passion 4 has nothing at all to do with writing and everything to do with graphic design my second love i love and design things, iykyk but i also like making passion projects like cd covers, alternative movie posters, fliers and online fandom graphics in various styles.

passion projects for example, i'm currently want to make myself a online store not like redbubble but for printables and art related stuff and where i can track commsions for people for paid art. i wanna monetize my art and design skills but its been awhile since college and i feel confident to try again with more gusto. so keep an eye out. my tagged posts are like where that is.

i make a lot of occasion cards in greetings and idk how to launch anything so I'm in the process of the grueling educating research to get my project off the ground and talk to others who are into the same things. i don't want a fandom specific store, multi fandom and interest store. maybe a few show related (another passion) or film alternatives.

cleaning and taking pride in myself has been a game changer, organizational furniture and decorating for both life and for holidayskeep me focused and excited for the day ahead and organization keeps things easy in the morning. so that's a difference, i prioritize and carve out time on sundays or during the week sometimes for maybe an hour to sift through and organize my items and keep things clean.

some ongoing personal resolutions and hopes to achieve or work on long term year round, such as bucket listed for in the new year list of 10 goals i hope to achieve.

continued weight loss goals from last year, making progress with, and managing health and wellness

2. hand drawing/lettering practices to improve

3. coloring more to give me something to do

4. quit smoking, again in 2024! start the holidays (potentially) smoke-free (ambitious, i hope i can!)

5. budget better/manage money and learn the difference of wants and needs, stop treatin' myself so much, because my budgeting needs work!

6. eat healthier

7. design more projects and try to generate interest and exposure in art-based community

8. spend time with friends and family, make time for people and alow to live in the moment

9. build an online presence/website/shop (see 7)

10. continue to focus when it doubt, on mental health self-care practices healthy communication, make good choices in trusting with care✨💌

Deep dive #2: Jessica Biel’s relationships timeline and all the interconnections

Disclaimer: This is done for fun. No hate, no drama, just some Hollyweirdness. It’s not a detailed timeline but more like key moments with some fun or surprising connections and anecdotes (to me at least). It’s just not possible to do one boyfriend timeline without mentionning another one. No famous people won’t be mentionned, neither most tabloids speculations. People already twist things, so it can’t be worse (right?). And please don’t judge my english.

Spring 1997: During the interview with All-Stars Magazine, 15 years old JessicaBiel shared that she only had two "sort of" boyfriends, both of whom were 17.

All-stars: In real life, do you ever date older guys? Jessica: I don’t really date very many people. I’ve had two boyfriends kind of! Both of them have been 17, so they’re usually older.

Spring 1998: 16 years old Jessica Biel is filming her second movie “I’ll be Home for Christmas” with Jonathan Taylor Thomas in Alberta and Vancouver, Canada. She met Adam LaVorgna who play the bad boy Eddie, they start dating while filming the movie. Even thought Adam is not very well known, he has been acting since he is 10. Nsync’s christmas song was used during the end credit of the movie. FYI The movie is available on Disney+.

April 1, 1999: On The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jessica said that Adam Lavorgna was her first real boyfriend. She said he is very smart and go to Avon Old Farms high school in Connecticut.

August 12, 1999: Jessica Biel and Adam Lavorgna did their first red carpet together at Barry Watson’s movie premiere "Teaching Mrs.Tingle". From what I have seen, it was Adam’s first red carpet of his career.

Fall 1999: 7th Heaven producers were looking for an actor to play Jessica’s character Mary Camden boyfriend and asked her if she had any suggestion. She suggested her then boyfriend Adam. His first appearance as Robbie Palmer in 7th Heaven was in season 4, Episode 10 aired on November 29, 1999. When the producers first called his team, they refused it without talking to Adam. He had to call them to tell them to accept it. He didn’t care for the show but just wanted to be with Jessica and make easy money. Adam shared that story on the Worst Ever Podcast in 2019.

January 2000: Lance Bass from Nsync guest-starred in 7th Heaven as Rick Palmer (Adam LaVorgna character’s brother). He appeared in season 4 episode 13 that aired on January 30, 2000.

I have a friend who worked for a publicist for some of the actors on The WB, such as [”7th Heaven” star] Beverley Mitchell and the people from ”Popular.” So I was having dinner with her and Beverley, and Beverley was talking about how she wanted a boyfriend this season, and I said, ”I’ll do it!” and she was like, ”Okay!” Source: Entertainment Weekly, January 2000

So of course while filming that episode Jessica was asked by Enews about Nsync. She said she knew about them but don’t own any of their CDs and they shared their differents experiences.

March 2000: Jessica did the scandalous Gear Magazine photoshoot. (She quickly regretted doing that photoshoot and shared how horrible the experience was). Adam was not happy about it. There were some tensions between them while she was spending time with the interviewer.

During the time I spent with her, the Boyfriend (whom she asks not to name) is constant presence, though he’s more than 3,000 miles away in Boston. What he thinks  and how he’ll react take up a large portion of Jesse’s thoughts. He’s nervous at her being perceived as sex idol, and having a writer from men’s magazine spend several days with her is not helping. Over the course of those days, the phone keeps ringing - the Boyfriend - and it’s stressing her. [...] Jesse and I are supposed to hook up the first night I'm in L.A., and I wait for the phone to ring at my hotel room. It never does. [...] The next morning, we talk on the phone. It turns out Jesse had a big fight with the Boyfriend on the phone, and, no longer able to deal, she went to her friend's house and spent the night. And her cell batteries died because she'd been talking to him so long, and I'd given her my wrong cell number and…" Really, I wasn't trying to blow you off. Everything went wrong last night. He told her he's unhappy with the situation and doesn't want to talk to her until the writer is gone.The phone rings again. It's the Boyfriend - he's being a jerk, he tells her. Summer 2000: When it was time for Jessica to leave the show to attend college on the East Coast with Adam (Jessica at Tufts University and Adam at Boston College), the producers of 7th Heaven contacted Adam and offered him a regular role for Season 5. Adam agreed, dropped out of college to be in Los Angeles for filming, while Jessica, who needed a break, still went to college in Massachusetts.

With hindsight, Adam regretted accepting the offer because now he feels like the producers asked him to comeback for season 5 to hit back at Jessica for leaving the show. Jessica was still working on the show during her school break, only appeared in few episodes and her scenes were very brief. Contrary to what was said in the medias, Jessica was never fired from the show. Aaron Spelling made it clear she still had 2 years left in her contract. They destroyed her character thought.

2000(?): Jessica Biel, Adam LaVorgna, Chris Evans and a group of friends attend a party all together!!

April 2001: Jessica Biel and Adam LaVorgna did a photoshoot together for Movieline Magazine. They denied dating. Adam revealed in the Worst Ever podcast in 2019 that their PR told them to deny they were dating. (off topic: When I was a kid I had the green dress picture as poster from one of my teen mag)

August 12, 2001: Jessica Biel and Adam LaVorgna did their last red carpet together at The Teen Choice Awards. 7th Heaven won best drama award that day. Adam missed the moment they went on stage, and Barry asked where is he?

August 22, 2001: Adam attended Jessica’s movie premiere “Summer Catch” but they didn’t take pictures together.

October 5, 2001: The Enquirer is reporting that Adam LaVorgna went to Promises rehab in Malibu for cocaine and Vicodin addiction.

The Enquirer is reporting that Jessica Biel's boyfriend and 7th Heaven co-star [Adam LaVorgna] checked himself into Promises rehab in Malibu after Jessica and the show's producers both gave the cocaine and Vicodin addict  an ultimatum. An insider told the taboid, "The cocaine and pills drastically  changed his demeanor." After the two talked him into rehab, he appears greatful as the friend added, "Right now he's thanking God for Jessica and the show's  producers. They saved his livelihood - and his life." Adam revealed in the Worst Ever Podcast in 2019, he started drinking at 10/11yo and had Opioid addiction (and then maybe doing heroin, I didn’t understand exactly what he said). He went to rehab multiple times and the first two times were paid by 7th Heaven producer, Aaron Spelling.

In the interviews with Elle Magazine and Cosmopolitan in 2005, Jessica mentioned, without explicitly stating his name, that the relationship was not healthy. Also mentionned in the London (2005) movie behind the scene.

October 10, 2001: Jessica Biel and Chris Evans did their first red carpet appearance at the wrap party of her movie “The Rules of Attraction”. Unless I'm wrong, Chris’ first red carpet of his career were also with Jessica. There is no information about how they met. In the interview with Animal Fair on January 2003, it is mentionned they were friends before dating. In Chris' workout video for Not Another Teen Movie, you can see Jessica in January 2002 commenting on the evolution of his body after filming the movie. They were not dating yet when he did the movie.

Jessica was back full time to L.A after one year at Tufts University. She did another semester later in 2002.

Jessica is still under her 7th Heaven contract and is working daily with Adam LaVorgna on season 6. 7th Heaven showrunner who was still holding grudge against her, made Mary desperate to win Robbie back while he keep rejecting her.

Before writing this post, I didn’t realize that it seems like Jessica and Adam never lived in the same state until they broke up.

Somehow Adam and Chris built a strong friendship for over 20 years. Adam was Chris plus-one at the 2016 Golden Globes. 💁‍♀️

November 11, 2002: The last 7th Heaven episode starring Adam aired, season 7 episode 8. There were no official explanation of why Adam left, neither off screen nor on screen at that time. Adam later revealed in a interview with belief.net that the Hollywood life (easy money, barely working, drugs, partying) is not for him, he is unable to control him and left California for the East Coast. Neither Jessica, nor the cast ever mentionned his addiction.

Jessica’s initial contract being over after season 6, only apperared in 5 out of 22 episodes of season 7. They had only 2 episodes in common.

2002: Jessica and Chris shared the way they feel about their relationship

January 31, 2003: Jessica Biel attended Justin Timberlake 22nd birthday party with Beverley Mitchell, her future husband Michael and a friend. Justin’s exes Br*tn*y Sp*ars and Alyssa Milano were also there. (Random fact: Adam and Alyssa families are very close, Adam call her “his cousin”)

Beverley Mitchell used to hang out a lot with the Nsync guys in the early 2000s. She participated at many of their Challenge For The Children charity events in Miami from 2000 to 2005. David Gallagher also took part of it. Beverley became pretty close to the guys. Joey Fatone also attended her wedding in Italy in 2008, and she was often seen with Lance Bass. Beverley shared during a recent podcast  with Lance Bass (@ 56min)  that she asked Jessica multiple times to come to thoses events and that she is unlike them actually good at basketball but she always refused.

During a podcast with Tia Mowry, Beverley revealed that Jessica used to tease her for hanging out with Nsync. Tia also shared a story about a Teen People party she was with Jessica where Nsync were performing. Beverley also mentionned that strange moment Justin’s mom asked her about Jessica at the 2007 Golden Globes.

October 2003: Jessica Biel and Chris Evans filmed the movie “Cellular” in Santa Monica, Callifornia. The director of the movie, David R. Ellis, asked Chris to ask Jessica to play the small girlfriend role. He also revealed they had broken up after filming the movie but were back together during the press tour for the movie.

Interviewer: They are still dating? Ellis: They were dating when we made the film and then they took a little break and now they're [back]. She's here. She was just here for lunch with Chris. Now they're back together. They just took a little hiatus.

Interviewer: At the time, was it just a coincidence that she was cast? January 27, 2004: At the Perfect Score movie premiere, Chris Evans confirmed their break up (unknow source)

June 30, 2004: Jessica Biel and Chris Evans confirmed back together. They were pictured together in Santa Monica.

September 2004: During press tour of Cellular, Chris shared that they decided to be more low key and how hurtful it could be to read about heartache in magazines.

October 2006 : Life & Style Weekly reports that Jessica is seeing Adam Levine. They have never been seen together or ever talked about each other. Zero detail about how or where they met. Sound 100% bullshit.

November 6, 2006: TMZ spotted Jessica walking her dog with Zach Braff. Yep that was before she eat him (it’s a Bojack Horseman reference). They never talked about each other and have never been spotted together after that.

November 28, 2006: People reports that Jessica and Derek Jeter are cozying up all over Las Vegas. They also have been spotted together at Social Hollywood on Nov. 15.

December 7, 2006: According US weekly and In Touch, Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake were at Social Hollywood. It is kind of confirmed by Justin on his book.

From January 1 to January 5, 2007: Jessica is pictured with Derek Jeter in Puerto Rico for the first and the last time. They have not been spotted together after that.

January 5, 2007: Gossip site reports that Scarlett Johansson and Justin Timberlake were seen chatting away at his movie "Alpha Dog" party.

January 8, 2007: Perez Hilton reports on his blog that Jessica Biel was at Justin Timberlake first show of his Futusex/Lovesound tour. Confirmed again on his book released in 2018.

My first show for the FutureSex/LoveSounds tour was in San Diego. A friend who also knew Jess was going to come to the show, and she asked me, “What if I was to bring a certain somebody?” I said, “I could be into that.” Patience may not be my strong suit but, apparently, playing coy is. My friend brought her to the show. They were with a whole crew of girls, and they all came into the dressing room and hung out. After the show, they were going to go back to LA, and I was going on to Anaheim. I asked them if they wanted to come with me. “I’ll give you a ride, you can come on my bus. Pagesix reported that Justin spent the new year at Kate Hudson party and Cameron with her family in Vail, Colorado.

January 15, 2007: Golden Globes Night! Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, both presenters that night, see each other for the first time since his San Diego show as planned and got flirty. They were just not expecting 35yo Cameron Diaz public tantrum!

June 2008:  Intouch reports that Jessica Biel is moving with Justin Timberlake in his Hollywood Hills house but she will still keep her Brentwood house. She was rarely seen around Brentwood after this.

Hello! I saw on your YouTube you said that there are a lot of videos you haven’t posted because they got taken down. You could try using Vimeo to post those videos because they aren’t strict with copyright and things like that. I would love to see some videos I haven’t seen before on there!

I started to do that last year with a couple videos, but then I took them down because I'm nervous about the legality of that... like if it gets straight up removed from youtube during the uploading process then I don't think I should post the full thing anywhere else. I've tried to add very short clips of the best moments from some of those videos into my longer edits, though! but in some cases even a few seconds of just the audio from an interview gets the whole edit blocked. And that seems silly because all of this content used to be available to download on fan sites like nbd... and I especially don't get why the SNL performance gets blocked when the rest of that episode seems to be on youtube just fine.

But it's not like I'm over here sitting on hundreds of videos that aren't online, sorry. There are only maybe 10-20 that haven't worked to upload. I'm missing a tragic amount of content. I really regret not saving more... I never planned to have an account like this where I'd be trying to recap stuff, and I didn't realize things back then were so temporary either. Blame Viacom. Here’s a list of some of the content I think I’m missing so far.

side tangent that’s slightly relevant:

Youtube wasn't that widely used in 2005 when P!ATD started touring. I remember using it more by spring 2006 (and then it was huge by that summer), but for a while fans were most likely to upload their videos from shows to sites that no longer exist, like buzznet. That's why there are only scraps of random videos from fall 2005 left on youtube... and those were often uploaded later from someone who didn't film them. For example, there are a lot of GroveStBrent's videos from a Chain Reaction show in December 2005 left on youtube because that person lost their original files around the end of the Fever era and asked if anyone had saved their videos. Those got collected, put into a zip file, passed around, and then someone put them on youtube. So the fact that there are way more youtube videos from that one show at Chain Reaction than anything else in late 2005 doesn't mean it had any special significance... those videos were just shared at a point when youtube was more commonly used. I think this is important to point out because it seems like some teens these days are under the impression that P!ATD wasn’t very big yet in fall 2005 since there are barely any videos from that season on youtube. The reality is that P!ATD was already quite popular in fall 2005… but youtube wasn’t. 

Anyways, people starting using youtube more as 2006 progressed and there was SO much content shared from shows & interviews during the last half of the Fever era. The problem was that apparently MTV owned a ridiculous amount of the shows/channels that P!ATD was featured on (even stuff like Razer). Viacom sued youtube around the end of the Fever era, which meant a good chunk of the Panic fandom's videos were deleted and some channels were removed for repeatedly trying to re-upload banned content. That's why so many of the Fever-era interviews that are left have an upload date of 2007 or later. And that's why we're left with scraps like that pathetically blurry short clip of Brendon holding Ryan's hand instead of the whole series of those T-Minus Rock episodes. 

Basically, I'm trying to share some basic content that the fandom had in 2006-2008, but I'm also trying to not do anything sketchy. The majority of the videos that I'm missing or just can't upload are tied to Viacom in some way... and it's so sad because what is any company even doing with that footage at this point.

I wonder how many views this will get and the turn out. I mean, obviously if someone is curious about it and already has a subscription they’ll watch it but I doubt any of the old fans would bother getting paramount for TW movie when they can just stream it on some website. Out of spite of course, even though it’s been years people are still bitter about a lot of the stuff that went on and wont, if they could help it, give anything Davis does the time of day. An example of some I see being discussed still and it’s been so long; how Sinqua found out he was out of a job when he got the script that he was being killed off as opposed to Davis and his people having a mature conversation about it. Also, how they lied to Holland about season 4, I think, being her season and then shafting her for Shelley to have more screen time for some reason. I feel bad remembering all the things that I hated about the show and Davis and some of the cast because when I heard about the movie and felt annoyed I wished it would crash and burn for a hot second and felt immediately guilty for that.

I don’t think the movie will be fondly remembered. I think people will talk about it for a few days then move on back to fic and headcanons.

Heading into their second season as the stars of HGTV's Down Home Fab, Teen Mom alum Chelsea Houska DeBoer and husband Cole DeBoer are feeling pretty, well, you know. 

When they made their debut last year, "We wanted people to take us seriously and prove ourselves," Chelsea explained in an exclusive interview with E! News. But now that they're back (season two premieres March 21 at 9 p.m.), "We're like, 'No, we do know what we're doing. And we're going to come into it confident.'" 

But lest they worry they're getting too high on themselves, they have daughter Aubree, 14, at home ready and willing to help. 

"She is definitely very opinionated," Chelsea said of Aubree, who she shares with high school ex Adam Lind. "It's so funny, because whatever my style is, she's like, there needs to be records on the wall, posters plastered all over. It's very teenage."

And the high schooler has already given her take on the couple's newest creation, their Down Home by DeBoers decor store that boasts wares with the same edgy chic aesthetic they use to makeover clients' homes. (Plus a section for their own Aubree Says line.)

Recently they all dropped into the South Dakota shop, "And it was the first time she's really seen it completed," explained Chelsea. "I was like, 'What do you think Aubree?' And she said, 'If I ever took over the family business, I'd turn it into a Zumiez.'"

Safe to say seeing her prized storefront transformed into a version of the skate shop chain is not something Chelsea is going to roll with. 

Joked the MTV alum, "I was like, 'Okay, well, then you're never taking over the family business.'"

Chelsea can absolutely envision her eldest striking out on her own, though. "Aubree is very creative," she acknowledged. "I could see her doing anything creative, whether it's design or art or anything." 

As for the rest of her crew, they may also be down to carry on the DeBoer legacy. 

Son Watson, 7, "is so smart and loves to build things," said Chelsea. "So I could see him being definitely a builder." And daughter Layne, 5, affectionately dubbed "Layniac" by the fam, "is so high strung, I could just see her on our demolition crew," joked Cole, "because she's ready to rock and roll."

As for the baby of the family, 3-year-old Walker, "She is so funny," said Chelsea. "She just tags along with the older kids. And she keeps up, too."

In some ways Chelsea and Cole are just along for the ride as well. 

Though raising four kids while tending to several thriving businesses is a bit of a study in controlled chaos, "Our kids are very involved, and they get to see our projects," noted Chelsea. "And that's something cool that we get to share, like, look what Mom and Dad are doing, and doing together."

Echoed Cole, "Being able to show our kids and our family what we've created has been awesome."

So, yes, some days they absolutely lose a battle of wills with a teenager ("When they reach 14, you kind of give up," joked Cole) and others they come to terms with the fact that not allowing Aubree to have a public Instagram account means they are so not Gucci. "I'm just very protective of her having social media and what gets put out there," explained Cole, "and also just the people that follow her."

But, mostly, they spend their days feeling grateful AF. 

"I think it's important to be happy with where you are and see where you can grow in that space," explained Chelsea. "I love HGTV. I would love to do, like, 20 seasons. And I'm so proud of our store that we're opening. And I think really focusing on this right now is our goal."

Well, that, and taking the time to appreciate everything they've quite literally built. 

"We're creating so many awesome projects and working with so many amazing people," acknowledged Cole. "But being able to do that with Chelsea has made it even better."

As for his bride of seven years, she tries not to spend too much time reflecting on just how far she's come from her single teen mom days. 

"If I think about it too much I cry," Chelsea shared. "But it is really cool. And it's really cool that whole journey was documented, too. I feel like a lot of times in your life, you go through things, but you don't really remember it, you kind of just block it off. But to be able to see the entire journey, you are almost able to be more grateful for it."

Her existence now is such a dream come true, "literally once a day I'm like, 'I'm just so thankful for this life,'" said Chelsea. "And that Cole and I get to do this together, I'm always just so thankful."
