“Of course I didn’t want you!”
Anakin recoiled like he had been slapped.
The anger he had felt only moments before towards the man in front of him dissipated and reformed into the keenest hurt he had ever experienced.
He had known this, of course—had known it forever, and he had prepared himself for the day the truth finally came out, building walls around his heart and forcing distance between himself and Obi-Wan for this very inevitability—but actually hearing it, actually hearing Obi-Wan say those words aloud?
Nothing could have prepared Anakin for this moment.
I didn’t want you.
Obi-Wan was still talking, ranting, but his words seemed far away, distant, like he was standing at the end of a tunnel, miles away from Anakin, who felt lightheaded, unsteady on his feet.
“—ster had just died, the Sith were back, and here was this boy,” Obi-Wan’s voice, tight and forceful, floated in and out of the air, “This boy for whom my master discarded me without a second thought, this boy, who was now my responsibility to raise and train.”
Anakin couldn’t look at him. Didn’t want to see the resentment in the set of his mouth, the long-buried hatred in the furrow of his brow.
“My responsibility—me, a barely knighted Jedi, practically a padawan myself.”
Obi-Wan let out a bark of disbelieving laughter, a sharp edge to it that sliced Anakin to his core.
“I could barely take care of myself in the days after Qui-Gon died, let alone another human being. And now I had the duty to fulfill my master’s dying wish to train this boy on the off-chance that he would save the galaxy.”
Do not cry.
Anakin willed himself to keep looking down, to stay impassive, to not raise Obi-Wan’s ire higher than it already was. If he betrayed how much these words cut him, how deep a wound they inflicted on his heart, then the magnitude of his attachment would be revealed, and that would only make Obi-Wan hate him more.
And Anakin didn’t think he could take any more of Obi-Wan’s hate.
Do not cry.
He heard Obi-Wan take a steadying breath, audibly reigning himself in. When he spoke next, his voice was softer, yet reverberated through Anakin's mind as if he had screamed them.
“So, no. I did not want you.”
He sensed Obi-Wan, his accursed, beloved former master, take a step towards him. Anakin stilled, a horrible thought overtaking him.
Would he strike him? Obi-Wan had never—would never—but he had also never said anything like this out loud to Anakin before. He had finally crossed the line.
Done the un-take-back-able.
Anakin had always walked a thin line with Obi-Wan, pushing and prodding, bringing out Obi-Wan’s frustration, his rolled eyes, dry jabs, and sometimes disappointed frown, but he had somehow avoided tipping the scales all the way over—at least, not until now.
Now, when he had finally pushed too far.
Fuck.
Do not cry. Do not cry—
A hand fell on his shoulder. It took everything in Anakin not to flinch.
“But don’t you ever think,” Obi-Wan said, the fierce passion back in his voice and Anakin’s stomach sank, sank sank. “Not even for one second, that you were not the best thing to ever happen to me.”
Anakin’s head snapped up in shock. The very thing he had wanted to avoid doing at all costs, but surely he had misheard, surely Obi-Wan had not just said what he just said—
“You are the best friend I have ever had,” Obi-Wan said, and there was still that hard edge to his words, but now that Anakin was looking at him, he saw that his master's eyes were not filled with anger-hate-bitterness like he had feared, but simple determination.
A serious expression, but one that was interlaced with a gentleness that Anakin could only describe as fond.
“It has been… the honor and delight of my life to teach you,” Obi-Wan said, and Anakin couldn’t move because the truth of it was ringing in the Force, unmistakable and passionate and firm. “And now to fight and live beside you as equals.”
Was Anakin dreaming?
A flicker of a smile crossed Obi-Wan’s face, like he was lost in remembrance and, oh, Anakin’s heart couldn’t take it, couldn’t handle this emotional whiplash, his greatest fear and most secret hope come to life over the course of a single conversation.
“It only took you about a day and a half to win me over. I was petrified every day that I would mess you up, leave you worse than I found you, let you down, Qui-Gon down, the galaxy down—but not once did I regret you. Not once would I have traded you away from anything.”
Obi-Wan squeezed Anakin’s shoulder and Anakin shuddered, letting out a choked whimper that he immediately wished he could take back, but Obi-Wan’s eyes softened, and through their bond Anakin could only feel kindness, affection, maybe even—
Obi-Wan's expression shifted once more, for the first time his steadiness in the force wavering, and he swallowed, appearing nervous, if Anakin didn't know any better.
"I do not always find it easy to express myself with words, like this. It is... difficult for me. But it appears that it is necessary today."
Anakin stared at him helplessly.
“I am unbearably sorry that I have ever made you believe otherwise. That you could ever think that you are not my favorite person in the world.”
Anakin could not stop the tear from falling down his cheek. And Obi-Wan Kenobi, high general of the Republic Army, one of the strongest, most respected masters in the Jedi Order, and Anakin's former teacher, gently caught it with the pad of his thumb and wiped it away.
"You are," Obi-Wan's voice came out rough and tinged with something that made Anakin's breath catch in his throat. But then just as quickly, Obi-Wan gave him a small smile, his voice clear once more, even dry and teasing.
“I hope that's alright with you.”
Anakin's answering smile was watery, but it could have lit up the entire galaxy anyhow.

You and Inej ran across the rooftops, jumping from gable to gable. Tonight's heist had a plentiful bounty that sat nestled in Inej's pockets. The two of you had been charged with stealing some pieces of the Ravkan crown jewels that had been taken from the palace and illegally sold.
What did Kaz want with stolen jewels? He may be your best friend, but not even you could read his mind. He had tells, of course, as did almost everybody, but Kaz’s past made him especially skillful at hiding them. You knew this all too well.
After all, you had been the one to pull him out of the harbor.
You had been infected with firepox like Kaz and his brother, but Jordie was the only one who perished out of the three of you. You didn’t know them personally at the time, only in passing. When you and Kaz were both dumped into the harbor with the others who had died, thought to be dead yourselves, you had woken up to same horrors of rotting corpses around you and the feeling of cold, mushy flesh.
While you had been around death and illness before—witnessing your parents die of the disease—Kaz hadn’t seen anything like this until then. He’d had to use his brother’s body as a life raft to swim to shore. You’d grown up swimming in a nearby fishing village, so you swam to shore easily. When you saw Kaz struggling, you’d reached out to him, and he’d hung onto you for dear life.
That night had been traumatizing for him, and for years afterwards, he was unable to touch anyone. It took several more years to get him to touch you, and you’d been patient and worked with Kaz to get used to the feeling of skin on skin again. But it could only be you. Anyone else, and he’d be right back in the water.
You were always there to pull Kaz out of the murky depths, witnessing him at his lowest. You were also there to see him in his triumph of leading his Crows and defeating Pekka Rollins. Finally, he could rest, and Kaz wanted to do it with you.
While planning heists, of course.
Kaz didn’t want you going along, and he’d always try to persuade you to stay behind or at least stay by his side. He always had a soft side for you, so he’d usually meet you halfway. You were in the same boat; your connection to Kaz originated from your soul, and you’d do anything to appease him. But tonight, Kaz wasn’t there, so you took the opportunity to join Inej on the rooftops.
You just didn’t expect anyone to shoot you.
Kaz stormed into your room at the Slat, the door slamming into the wall behind him as he took in your white undershirt lifted just enough to reveal the bloodied gash on the side of your ribs. “What the hell happened?”
You rolled your eyes as Jesper held you down while Nina worked to heal the wound in your side. “It’s a scratch, Kaz. I’m totally fine. The bullet didn’t hit anything serious.”
“Bullet?!” Kaz exclaimed in shock. “I was told you fell off the roof.”
Wylan, from his spot in the corner of the room, hummed in opposition. “That was after she was shot.”
You suddenly let out a groan, squirming in Jesper’s arms. Kaz rushed over as fast as he could, ignoring the searing pain in his leg. “Move, Jes.”
Kaz took Jesper’s spot in keeping you still while Nina finished healing you. “It’s going to leave a scar, but you should be fine by the morning. Good thing the bullet never actually went through you.”
“That will be enough, Nina,” Kaz said lowly, and everyone knew to clear the room as fast as they could.
As soon as the others were gone, you sighed, pulling your undershirt down to cover your bandage. “Say what you’re going to say and get it over with.”
“How the fuck could you be so stupid? Joining Inej on the roof, of all places? Why not be with Nina or Jesper on the ground? We all know how clumsy you are, so it was just a matter of time before you fell off, and oh, look. You did!”
You snorted. “Like Wylan said, that was after I was shot.”
Kaz glared at you as he paced the room, leaning heavily on his cane. “That doesn’t make it any better.”
“Nothing ever does. You never let me do anything.” A child-like pout formed on your lips, and Kaz wanted to tuck your bottom lip back in place.
He refrained, however. “I have my reasons.”
“Saints, Kaz,” you huffed, sitting up and carefully standing, trying to keep your bandages in place. “If you’re not going to let me go on jobs, why am I even here?”
Kaz met your eyes, the most intense and unique shade of blue you’d ever seen. “When we were young, we promised to stick together. Don’t you remember?”
You swallowed, memories flashing behind your eyes; pinkies interlocking, teary eyes, and yes, the promise that the two of you had made.
“Of course I remember, you idiot,” you replied, holding out your pinkie finger.
Kaz glanced down at it out of the corner of his eye, dead set on refusing, but he could never say no to you. He sighed, linking your bare finger with his gloved one. “I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you,” he whispered, deep and low in his throat.
You shook your head, lips turning upwards. “You will never lose me, Kaz. I’m yours forever.”
Something crossed his eyes for a brief moment, something you’d never seen before.
“What is it?” You asked.
“Do you mean that? That you’re mine?”
You furrowed your brow, searching his face, but he turned away. “Kaz? What is it? Why are you asking me this?”
He sighed your name, closing his eyes. “I—I think I…The way that I feel about you…I think it’s…I think…”
Kaz trailed off, his chest rising with every breath, unable to finish his sentence, and he turned away. But his shield dropped, and you were able to see every emotion he was feeling.
Now you recognized what you were seeing. You’d just never seen it in Kaz before. It all made sense. The way he never wanted you in harm’s way, how he would always turn to you for advice, secrets that only you knew, the smiles that appeared only when you were around. Kaz cared for you. He…
He loved you.
Your heart soared because you loved him too. You have for a while now, but you’d never been able to act on it. Yes, Kaz was able to touch you, but in this capacity, you weren’t sure.
Taking the small step to close the distance between you was terrifying, but you were meant for terrifying things.
“Yes, Kaz,” you whispered. “I’m yours.”
You looked down at his lips, the palest of pinks. Your breaths intermingled, you were so close. “Are you… Can I…?”
You hated that you couldn’t get the questions out. It was Kaz, but you still felt like you should know him well enough not to ask. But since it was Kaz, you had to. You didn’t want to do anything he wasn’t ready for.
“I’ve never… I don’t know how,” he admitted, turning away from you, cheeks turning the color of his lips.
“It’s okay,” you said, slowly lifting a hand. At your inquiring gaze, Kaz nodded. Your hand was warm against his cool skin. “I’ll follow your move.”
Kaz inched closer, noses brushing. “Is this okay?”
You nodded, eyelids fluttering. “Yes. Are you okay?”
He let out a breath, sending gooseflesh over your skin. “Yes,” he answered, and then his lips touched yours.
It was like no kiss you’ve ever had before. The others you’d kissed had been rushed, a frenzy of lips and tongues and teeth. But Kaz’s kiss, it was slow and deliberate, like he wanted to stop time itself and stay in this moment with you.
All in all, you were seeing a different side of Kaz. He usually had a hard exterior, the ruthless Bastard of the Barrel persona he had created. When he was alone with you, he was more relaxed and open, but still haunted by the ghosts of his past. You’d never gotten to know the boy he was before, only the one you had helped out of the harbor.
Was this who you were seeing? Not Kaz Brekker, but Kaz Rietveld? A boy who was curious and sweet-natured, tender and benevolent?
Then his tongue stroked your bottom lip, and you jumped in surprise.
“Was that wrong?” Kaz asked, panic lighting up his eyes.
“No,” you said, shocked. “It was right.”
Kaz grinned at you, a true smile this time, not the little thing he did as the notorious gang leader, and his gloved hands gingerly touching your waist, careful of your injury. “Can we do it again?”
You returned the smile. “Yes.”
He kissed you again, much more confident and sure than before. When his hands moved across your waist, brushing your bandaged side, you gasped.
“Sorry,” he mumbled against your lips between kisses.
You hummed, chills running down your spine when his hands gripped your hips. “It’s okay.”
“I’d like to try something else, if that’s okay?”
You pulled back a hair’s breadth to look into his eyes, his pupils blown wide, and you knew how much your kisses were affecting him. “Are you sure? This isn’t moving too fast for you?”
“I’ve wasted enough time, and I dont want to wait any longer. I just…” He lowered his head, stray bits of his hair brushing against your bare shoulder. “I’ve never done this before.”
You brushed away the hair that had fallen forward, lifting his head to you. Your fingers tangled themselves in his dark locks, silky and fine to the touch. “We’ll take it one step at a time.”
Kaz leaned forward and kissed your forehead, a simple, gratuitous kiss, and then he brushed his lips across your temple, your cheekbones, your jaw, and then the crook of your neck. He was experimenting, finding each touch a new and thrilling way to explore you. “Is this okay?” He mumbled against your shoulder.
You had your head tilted back, eyes closed. Every single one of Kaz’s kisses tingled against your skin, and your breath came out in pants. “Yes,” you gasped. “Don’t stop.”
Kaz continued to press kisses to your shoulders, across your collarbone, against your throat. “Tell me what to do,” he whispered.
“Do whatever you want,” you breathed.
“And if I want to take your shirt off?”
You opened your eyes, lids heavy with want. Kaz’s eyes were blazing with a fire you’d only ever seen when he’d defeated Pekka Rollins, but that had been a sinister and triumphant flame, and this was burning only for you out of desire.
“Then take it off.”
Kaz fingered the hem of your shirt, lifting it ever so slowly. He avoided the bandage on your side, and when the garment was over your head, he tossed it to the floor.
“Saints,” Kaz cursed, gazing at your bare skin and breasts. “You’re so beautiful,”
You pulled him towards you, kissing him feverishly. “Touch me, please.”
Kaz ran a hand over belly, up your ribcage, and lightly trailed his fingers over the swell of your breast, causing you to gasp in his mouth. “Is that good?” He asked, his voice low and coarse.
“Yes.”
“What about this?” He inquired as his thumb brushed against your nipple.
“Yes,” you whined, enjoying his experimentation. He wasn’t trying to be seductive, you knew, but Saints, he was doing a very good job. Your lower belly fluttered, and desire pooled between your legs.
“And if I were to…”
A gasp left your lips as his mouth closed around a nipple, tongue swirling around the sensitive bud. One of his hands squeezed the breast not occupied by his mouth, and the other settled low on your hip, fingers digging into the soft flesh of your ass.
Your own hands gripped the collar of Kaz’s shirt, and you pulled him towards your bed. He moved to support you as the two of you lowered to the mattress.
Kaz gazed down at you, bare and flushed for him, glowing in the candlelight. You really were the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. If it was between you or mountains of gold, he’d choose you in a heartbeat. Hell, he’d even give the gold to Pekka if it meant keeping you forever.
You trailed your fingers over the expanse of his clothed chest, feeling the hard muscles underneath. Then you undid one button, and then another, and another. You blinked up at him, searching him for hesitation. “Is this okay?”
Kaz nodded, starting to undo some buttons himself, and your fingers met in the middle to slide the fabric over his shoulders together. You wrapped your arms around him, holding him close to you, feeling his bare chest against yours as your lips met again. Legs opening to accommodate his body, you held him to you, and you never wanted to let go.
Hands were everywhere, to your surprise. Never before has Kaz touched you like this, so unreserved and wanting. Before, he would give you a hand to help you up, or a simple pat on the shoulder for a job well done. But this, you didn’t want him to stop.
His hands brushed against the fastenings of your pants, and the hesitation set it. Kaz’s throat bobbed, and before he could say anything, you reached down and undid the buttons yourself, shimmying the material over your hips and kicking it to the floor.
Kaz raked his gaze over you, a faint blush creeping over his skin. He licked his lips, his fingers sliding down your hip, over your thigh. His eyes met yours, and you felt yourself melting under the intensity of his desire. “Can I?” He asked, and you opened your legs in answer.
One finger ran over your seam, and your breath hitched. Then Kaz spread you, the pad of his finger brushing against the tiny bundle of nerves that made you moan. Kaz looked up at you, mischief gleaming in his eyes, and he touched you there again.
Your head thrown back, you gripped your sheets tightly, the anticipation making you squirm. Kaz followed the trail of your wetness to your entrance, and he drew tiny circles around you, and your hips bucked in search for more. This made Kaz curious, so he slowly pushed his finger into you, and you sighed.
You were so warm and wet, Kaz found. And the more he moved his finger, withdrawing it from you before sliding back in, the wetter you became. The sounds you made stirred something within him, setting his heart to pounding.
Then you moaned his name when he hit a certain spot inside of you.
“Kaz.”
He lifted his head to you, and you were watching him, your pupils so dilated, they covered the beautiful color of your irises. Your chest was rising and falling as you stared at him, and then you sat up, causing his finger to leave your warmth.
You reached for him, pulling his face to yours in a kiss. “I need you,” you whispered against his lips, and your hands were creating a trail down his chest and to his belt. “Is this okay?”
“Yes,” Kaz said, and his hands joined yours in unbuckling his belt. Together, you removed his pants, and Kaz kicked off his shoes.
You slid a hand between you, touching the hard length of him with your fingertips. A groan left him, and his head dropped to rest against your shoulder. You pressed a kiss to his hair as you wrapped your hand around him, slowly moving up and down. He grew harder with every stroke, and he began to press kisses to your neck and shoulder.
An idea sparked in your mind, and you hooked one leg around his hips, flipping so you were on top. Kaz’s eyes went wide, and he met yours as excitement and expectation set in. You continued to stroke him, and as you moved to hover over him, you asked, “Is this okay?”
“Yes,” he replied, and he crashed his mouth to yours as you slowly lowered onto him.
Saints, this was better than your hand. You were extraordinary. Mouths moving against one another, bodies joined in a way that was so intimate, nothing would ever take its place. This was heaven, and Kaz would never be the same after this.
You moved, sliding your hips away from his before returning back to him. Every stroke of you around him made Kaz’s insides tighten until it felt like he was going to burst. He ran his hands over every inch of you he could reach, over your arms and shoulders, your waist, and following the movement of your hips.
The moans continued to leave your mouth even as you kissed him, and when you muttered that you were close, he felt you tighten around him, and that was his undoing.
Everything within Kaz shattered, as if something snapped within him. He held you against him, not wanting to let you go. When your breath returned, you slid off of him, the evidence of his release sticking to the insides of your thighs.
“Will you hand me my shirt?” You asked, collapsing beside him.
Kaz leaned over the side of the bed, grabbing the thin undershirt you had been wearing. You cleaned him off first, then yourself before throwing the shirt back to the floor. Wrapping an arm around your shoulders, Kaz held you close, and you tucked your head underneath his chin. Your legs were intertwined, and so were your fingers, the sweat making your bodies stick together.
This moment was perfection, Kaz thought, and he nuzzled your hair.
“I love you,” he whispered.
Your lips turned upwards in a smile as you pressed them lightly to his chest, eyes growing heavy with exhaustion.
“I love you, too.

I just realized that in s5, instead of a parallel to Mike breaking down with Hopper and just doing that again, I want one with Mike and Jonathan.
Something interesting about Jonathan is that he tends to be pretty quiet in situations where literally everyone is being critical of Mike, notably in the scene at Hopper’s canon when he blurts out that he loves El. That whole scene everyone is ganging up on him, most notably Nancy, but the whole time Jonathan is just staring at Mike, deep in thought…
We also know he witnessed A LOT in s4 in regards to Will and just the whole truth of the situation might be closer to him then we realize. Like for example, even though we didn’t see Mike’s expression in the van scene after the painting reveal, with it being blurred from our view, Jonathan on the other hand did see it. He also was there for that and the monologue at SB where he basically just used Will’s words to try to save El. And so what does Jonathan think about that?…
While I know the expectation for a lot of fans is that Jonathan like hates Mike bc of him hurting Will as of the last year or so on a couple notable occasions (now El too presumably), I think there is still something complex about their relationship that would make for a pretty epic television.
Not saying the scene couldn’t start out with some clashing and stuff, bc I mean after all the literal same thing happens with Hopper and Mike in s2. The scene starts confrontational and emotional only for Mike to start sobbing and literally fall into Hopper’s arms for comfort. Even in the following scene he chooses to stay close to Hopper’s side, like it’s clear his outburst had less to do with Hopper ‘lying’ and more to do with all of his bottled emotions coming to head in that moment. And in the company of a man that he looks up to, who is basically seeing him at his lowest.
And I think Jonathan and him having a moment like this, in their own way, maybe related to El again like the talk with Hopper, but I think it ending with it being about Will and Mike breaking down again, maybe thinking Jonathan hates him and then turning it on himself like no one hates me more than I hate myself for how I feel. Or just him basically getting emotional over a similar situation to s2, but us basically getting the Will side of it this time, which would essentially re-contextualize the s2 scene as well.
Another reason I think this scene would be incredible honestly, is because Finn very clearly looks up to Charlie, with him literally following him around on set and you can just tell they have a very close bond that would make for incredible chemistry on screen as Jonathan just like Hopper (arguably even more so), is in this male position of someone that Mike looks up to, who also knows sides of him that quite frankly no one does, it has the ability to be a really emotional and gratifying moment.
Maybe Jonathan is being a little bit curt with Mike and it leads to an argument of some sort. Though it ends with something along the lines of Mike just breaking down and Jonathan comforting him like I never hated you Mike and him just holding him and them talking about their true feelings about the situation.
Mike’s never gonna get that sort of deep and emotional bond with his father, so it feels almost poetic that he’d have these moments with the two men in Will’s life who’ve also had a huge impact on Mike’s life as well and who he will be tethered to forever as family bc of his relationship with Will.
I need it and I need it yesterday.

So Long | Quinn Hughes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: after years of no contact you finally reach out to Quinn, but in the way he’d least expect.
request: yes/no
warnings: swearing, mentions of death.
word count: 2.03k
authors note: so I’ve never written anything like this before. But it felt interesting and I rolled with it. Going through that “I don’t know if I like what I write” phase again so just bare with me for the next few days.
Tumblr media
You were meant to be the girl where things didn’t work out.
Quinn met you during the summer of 2015. You were both still in high school and your family had just made the move from Tennessee to Michigan, where your father purchased the new lake house.
Quickly you two became as thick as thieves constantly at each others side. That was how your summers were when you two built onto your friendship constantly growing closer than you ever thought possible.
So it was no surprise when you both landed up at the university of Michigan where you were quickly asked to be Quinn’s girlfriend.
The whole Hughes family adored you much like how your family adored him.
You were in the car arguing about how Quinn intended on moving to Vancouver to join his new team, the Canucks “don’t you love me anymore?” Quinn felt his throat grow raw as the argument seemed to ensue.
Tears ran down your face as your heart broke at the question “of course I love you baby,” you reached out to grab his hand as you wanted to feel some kind of comfort from all of this but he instead decided to pull away.
Quinn stared out of the window watching the raindrops dance on the glass seeming unaware of what was going on inside of the car “then why are you breaking up with me?” His question rang through your ears.
There were many reasons that came to your mind, you were mainly trying to protect him as you hoped that he would hate you after this all. But instead you couldn’t reveal the truth “we just aren’t meant to be together.” In the logical part of your brain you knew that it was true, but your heart wanted to erase this conversation from your brain forever.
Your comment only hurt him more “you can’t mean that.” You were the first girl that Quinn opened his heart up to entirely, it was all in the palm of your hand and that terrified the eldest Hughes boy.
Quinn couldn’t even look you in the eye as he heard your sobs over the hum of the engine “I want you to be happy-” you made it sound like he needed more than you “I am happy goddammit!” Quinn yelled turning around as he flung his arms in frustration.
It made you choke on your tears as you shook your head “I need you to be happy without me.” It was tough for you to admit but some sense of comfort was going to be brought to you if you knew that Quinn had moved on.
It had been years since that moment in the car. Quinn tried to move on from you, but your abrupt exit from his life left the hockey player wondering how this is his fault.
Despite Ellen and Jim’s efforts to tell Quinn that you leaving was a choice that you made, it seemed to always fall on deaf ears.
So when your moms car pulled up to the Hughes lake house, it was safe to say that the whole family was taken by surprise when only your mom seemed to leave it.
She looked tired as her cheeks seemed tear stained and she carried a stack of letters that represented the way she felt carrying the world on her shoulders.
Ellen was quick to open the door trying to urge your mom inside for a coffee so they could catch up “I can’t stay.” Your mom sighed shaking her head.
Her hand seemed to shake as she held out five letters “I came to drop these off.” She explained holding them out for Ellen to grab.
It was clear that the blonde was confused but she still listened “send your family my best okay?” Ellen’s voice was soft as she could tell that something was up.
All your mom could do was nod before she made her way back to the car trying to avoid being in tears as she knew you would have hated seeing her cry.
Quinn was quick to run to his mom to see what happened “what did she want?” He enquired trying to figure out what was going on.
Whilst Ellen tried to piece the bits of information together she shrugged “I don’t actually know.” She mumbled realising that each of the letters were addressed to someone in the family: Ellen, Jim, Lukey, Big Shot, Love.
Ellen held out the final one to Quinn “I think that this one is for you.” She sent her son a comforting smile as the boy grabbed it from her hand.
His finger ran over the name inked out in black pen. You were the only one who called him that and it was in your writing, a style he would recognise from anywhere.
Quinn knew you didn’t like letters, they were weird and you always seemed to thing they were meant to tell some sad sob story. So it made him nervous that you had written one.
Ellen watched as Quinn shook his head “I don’t want to read it.” It had been all these years since you two last spoke, so why were you reaching out like this.
Surely if you wanted to talk you would have driven up to the house yourself “just give her a chance.” Ellen urged him as something in her gut told her that this was serious.
Rolling his eyes Quinn figured he’d listen to his mom “fine but don’t be surprised when I come back and tell you that it’s stupid.” Given his knowledge of your dislike for letters, Quinn hoped that he would find some kind of comfort there.
It was warm as the sun shone on the water “what are you thinking about?” Quinn asked as your feet danced in the water beneath the dock.
You smiled as you looked up at him “I always feel close to you when I’m by the water.” You confessed seeing his cheeks turn pink.
Quinn rubbed his elbow against yours “you make it sound like the water is our place.” Quinn couldn’t help but laugh at his comment before he went silent seeing that you looked like a lightbulb had gone off above his head.
It made you smile when you thought about it “when you miss me visit the water, and I promise I’ll be there too.” You proposed sticking your pinky finger out to him “you know what? Okay.” Quinn shrugged licking his finger with yours as he smiled.

Quinn felt his heart drop as he read out the first line “what?” He asked feeling emotions all come flooding into his brain as he thought back to that summer. How on earth could he have not picked up that the love of his life was sick?

Quinn felt a tear roll down his cheek before it dropped to land on the letter. The hockey player still loved you, and it brought him some comfort that your time with him left just as big of an impact on your life as it did his.

As unintentional as it was, Quinn couldn't help it when a laugh left his lips mainly when he read that last line. You could have told him anything, literally, this was your letter as you got to say your final goodbye. And here you were telling him you won at something that was never meant to be a competition.

Not even two days ago had Quinn gotten the call, that day when he became captain, was the present. And it seemed to hurt him that two realities he never put together, he never wanted to put those two together. Where you were dead and he was captain.

Quinn didn't like the idea of moving on before, but now he definitely hated it. How was he meant to be okay moving on when there was an alternate universe where you never got sick and he was still with you "'s not fair." Quinn grumbled to himself shaking his head as he clearly disagreed with what you were trying to tell him.

You always wanted to be a mother, it was something you dreamed about doing as you grew up. Quinn wanted to be a father as well and that caused you two to very quickly realize in this essence that your futures were more than likely connected to each other.

Quinn didn’t know how to feel as he reread your letter trying to make sure that he had not missed anything that you had written. Tears rolled down his cheeks as his hands shook so hard he let go of your letter “shit!” Quinn realised what he had done as he reached out to grab the letter that was brought down to the lake by the wind. There was nothing left for him to do besides for just to stare at the letter as it absorbed water letting the paper get wet, much like his cheeks.
The battle between the water and the paper finally seemed to end as the letter paper began to rip.
As sobs left his lips he rocked his body back and fourth coming to terms with something he never thought he would have to worry about.
You were officially gone.

Together Forever

Billy Hargrove x Reader
𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘: You and Billy have been engaged for more than two years in secret, without the knowledge of the citizens of Hawkins but also without the knowledge of the boy's father. You both want only one thing, to live together. And staying in Hawkins is not part of your plans.
𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒: Fluff, fem!reader, bad language, use of Y/N, you're surname is Williams, daddy issues, abuse, sigarettes, secret relationship.
𝐀/𝐍: Here it is! This is the first request, I really hope I exceeded @unamused-boss expectations Sorry for my English, this is not my native language. Please support new writers and reblog. Hope you enjoy! (DIVIDER NOT MINE)

In Hawkins the air was cold and this week the forecast said it would bring down the flood. You savored the air which made you smile. You never hated rain or gloomy weather, in fact you found them relaxing and perfect for drinking a nice cup of milk or hot chocolate, as if you were back in winter close to the Christmas period.
You moved some leaves as you crept further towards the house, a classic house and welcoming and tidy on the outside. You were in the garden, but hey, let's calm down, you're not going to rob! But you are looking for the window to the room of Billy Hargrove, your boyfriend. Yes exactly. You Y/N Williams, an ordinary student at Hawkins High, engaged to the big and strong Billy Hargrove! You didn't believe it either, to tell the truth. You were not popular, much less well-regarded by most of your classmates, you were silent and perhaps even mysterious, you were good at school, sure, but you had a temper that perhaps half the students at school envied, and that is precisely what triggered a connection in you and Billy the day you met.
In his eyes you were normal, nothing that Billy cared about, you were just like all the other girls, but he changed his mind as soon as you won a verbal battle with him, leaving him breathless. No one dared to challenge him and especially with such confidence, but you, you were the first girl to do so, and it left the students shocked for at least two weeks. You seemed like sworn enemies, after that spat neither of you tried to annoy the other so as not to start a war, but in reality you realized that in the end you weren't that far apart, in fact you could even say they were quite similar.
You remembered when you and Billy attended Mrs. Davis's classes, which were really boring. The boy wouldn't stop giving you glances and giggling every now and then, only to both get scolded and sent to the principal. The students were tired of this, you were seriously cat and dog! Unbearable! But what people didn't know was that both of you weren't teasing each other to cause anger or annoyance to the other, but it was totally the opposite, they were pure and true digs. At first you didn't notice, you thought it was normal, something for friends. But apparently this was not the case. From secret friends you have become secret lovers.
Wow...
You seriously didn't expect this...you had to be honest about this. After you both got together you saw a side of Billy you never thought you'd seen. From the obnoxious, arrogant, vulgar and popular boy he was, he had finally revealed himself: kind, loving, difficult and sweet.
In short, never judge a book by its cover, right? The same thing apparently goes for people.
But now you're wondering... why in secret? Why were you two secret friends and now secretly engaged?
This was because Billy had a great reputation at school and was afraid of being criticized by others. You felt very sorry for him and you understood it. In Hawkins High, gossip is the fruit of its existence and if there wasn't anyone to criticize or make fun of, what would the students of this fucking school do? Exact. Just nothing. This is why you understood that your school was perhaps the shittiest of all. They would torment not only Billy but you too. You showed such confidence and superiority towards Billy that day and now you are friends? In short, something that cannot be heard!
You have therefore decided to keep the matter in secret so as to be left alone.
As for the relationship, well, both of you were actually ready to no longer hide and face those dick faces, but you immediately backed out when you found out that Billy's father strictly forbade going out with you and doing anything. something more productive in his life. The boy had never told you about his family until that point and when he told you about his father you were horrified by it. His father was a violent and aggressive man, he hurt him while demanding respect from his son who he threatened or even beat if he disobeyed, a father that no one would like to have...
The night you and Billy got ready to go out on a date, he called you and canceled without telling you why. Then when you met and talked about it you became calm again and consoled him. Billy vented and it hurt, you couldn't know what it meant to live in that hell. For your boyfriend, however, it was fine, especially when he met you, for him you were an angel, one of the most beautiful and sweetest girls he had ever seen, for him, you were a divine salvation from his torment, and if he had to suffer all this to stay with you then he would have tolerated it.
Seriously, this guy turned out to be more amazing than you thought.
For his father you were just an adventure, a simple whore with whom Billy would be satisfied and therefore he ordered him to leave you alone and look for something to earn, since Billy recently left school.
In short...a beautiful but complicated relationship.
You arrived in front of his closed window and as soon as you saw his figure from behind while he was lifting some weights through the glass, you knocked and he turned around. He smiled at you showing his docile face and opened the door for you. Most of the time it was you who barged into his room to visit him, unlike him, other than part-time work, you had nothing to do.
“My bad girl barges into my room again, I should start worrying” He said teasingly as he helped you up. You smiled "Nah, you don't need it, I'm used to it by now" you both gave each other a kiss on the lips as a greeting. That afternoon, all members of Billy's family were out: Max was with his friends, Susan was shopping and his father was at work.
"How are you?" You asked as you eyed his weights. It was now a legitimate question to ask every time you saw him training. An outside observer might think he did it to maintain his beautiful physique, true. But he also does it to let off steam...Billy does nothing but lift weights to vent an enormous anger that he is holding back. He smiled sweetly at you "Good darling, don't worry. Training doesn't hurt me" with this the boy winked at you and moved a lock of hair from his face and then placed his palm on your cheek "And what about you? How is my girl?" He smiled one of his own and you couldn't help but giggle, he loved teasing you with these silly nicknames and you couldn't help but blush and flatter yourself.
"Very good, today I received my pay at work and I got an excellent grade in biology!" You said as you ran a hand down his chest. "But didn't you hate biology?" He said as he invited you to sit on his bed. His room was tidier than you remembered it from two years ago. Billy was messy, and let's say he put his things in plain sight, thank goodness that since he got engaged to you he started hiding inappropriate things to make you feel at ease.
You sat on his bed with your back against the beige wall of his room, he stood next to you.
"Yes, it's true, but I wanted to improve myself, I have to be good in all subjects to improve my future" You said taking his hand "Aren't you tired of all that studying?" Billy said taking a cigarette and placing it between his thin lips "To be honest yes, I really fucking can't stand the thought of opening another literature book or something" You laughed at the idea. Despite being a studious girl, you have never loved studying. So many things, so many poems, so many equations and bullshit like that, in short, enough! Too much! "But, you know, I'm doing it to do better in the future, so I'll have more job opportunities" Billy let out smoke from his mouth and you smelled the smell of tobacco in your nostrils "What would you like to do in the future? In short, it seems that you already know what you want to do with your life, sweet girl" he said looking at a fixed point "Actually, no, I don't know, there are many things and I couldn't decide" He seemed surprised by your answer but then it took him a while to answer you.
"Well there aren't many things you can find here in this shitty town, God, I wish I could get out of here" He finally said almost whispering as more smoke spread into the room. This statement of his made you think...
You never really thought about staying in Hawkins, the city, as welcoming as it was, was also a bad place that you really wanted to escape from, you don't like the people, much less the mayor who runs it. Thinking of wanting to move to have other opportunities and change your life seemed like an impossible dream. You looked at Billy and you looked at him "I share your thoughts, if it were up to me I would leave here too, maybe to New York, or I don't know, to Boston, there are many places outside of here where I would like to spend my life. Instead you Billy, where would you go?" He looked back at his fixed point in front of him. He remained silent for a while and then answered you with a smile "California...I would like to go back there" he said it with a note of sadness and your heart melted. You knew how much he wanted to return to California, after all it was one of the most beautiful places for him, because of his precious memories with his mother.
“Maybe then we would go together…” You said resting your head on his shoulder feeling his sweaty skin “Together?” He seemed paralyzed by your proposal and you nodded “That's impossible darling…” he gave a light chuckle but his tone didn't seem joking, it was as if he wished that proposal had come true. "Why do you think it's impossible?" He shook your hand as he placed his cigarette in the nearby ashtray "Because that's how it is. Look at us, I work as a lifeguard and earn little anyway, you on the other hand are still studying, moreover my father wouldn't allow me to go back to California, he says that he hates it and that neither Max nor I should go back, and also because he wouldn't approve of me going with you" True. He wasn't wrong and this made you stay silent for several minutes thinking about how to find a solution.
You knew it was absurd, in short, Billy was now an adult, if he wanted to leave and move somewhere else it wasn't his father's business, but by now the man seemed to have taken control of his life too and this had taken you by surprise. . The father wanted Billy, like Max, to stay close to them so as not to worry Susan, who unlike the man was worried about the two and certainly knowing that one of the two was too far away worried her, so much so that she asked her husband to order both him and Max to stay in Hawkins in the future. But that didn't mean you would have given up.
"You know, in California there are many chances of finding a job and someone like yours earns well there. Then if I managed to graduate here I could very well walk away with the money I earn from part-time work" He smiled "You planned the your life plan?" You looked at him with a grin "our life plan, you are part of my life, Billy" she immediately smiled so much that he blushed but shook his head "No. With me your future will only be turbulent and then as I said before, it's impossible"
"Nothing is impossible Billy. Together if we want we can do it, obviously if you want to do it" you raised your head and he took a deep breath and kissed you. You laughed in the sweet kiss "Of course I want" You smiled again "Only, my father worries me"
“Don't worry about him, I actually already have an idea for this” you smirked evilly as you stroked his golden locks. Billy looked at you for a while to then understand what was going on in your little head "My smart girl" He said as he approached hungry for another kiss, you laughed "Have I always been or am I wrong?" You both gave each other more kisses.
Exactly two more years passed. It was a rainy night. Midnight. The streets of Hawkins were deserted as the rain got heavier and heavier. A wonderful night, especially for the two of you. You had recently graduated and had saved money, and Billy had done the same thing with the little he earned.
You headed towards the boy's window only to see him land on the ground and take out his bags trying to make as little noise as possible. You on the other hand, had brought yours too and helped Billy by trying not to get him and his bags wet thanks to your umbrella. You gave each other a kiss while the adrenaline was rising. It was the big day and you were as anxious as you were excited. You both headed to the boy's car putting down your bags and stuff and got into the car.
“Are you sure Y/N?” He said holding the steering wheel tightly, you nodded "Yes, remember that together we can do it" you reassured him and he nodded happily. He seemed reborn, new and fresh, a different person. He was about to leave that old life full of suffering to start a new one with the love of his life, you and for you he would also trigger his father's wrath. In the meantime you took a cigarette and started lighting it with the lighter "Ok, together forever, darling" he told you and then put on his sunglasses, you laughed since the sun wasn't out, but he was ready to leave and to adjust to the place “California, we are coming” You said in a confident tone as smoke spread through the car.

Goodbye (For Now) Pt.2
Pt.1
Nightbringer Spoilers Ahead (maybe a little ooc)

///
Synopsis:
You knew you weren’t suppose to stay in the past for that long. You knew you didn’t belong there. You had to get back to your time eventually.
And even if the brothers were warming up to you again, you had to say goodbye. The worst part was that they would never know why you really left.
.
.
“They mean forever Mammon. It means they’re never coming back.”
.
.
.
“Huh?! What are ya saying Satan?! Stop bullshitting!” Mammon yells at him.
You could feel all eyes on you stare you down in confusion.
“He’s right Mammon..”You say in a less enthusiastic tone than before. Mammon lols betrayed by your words as he steps back away from you.
“You’re leaving?…”Leviathan says with clear disappointment.
“I am..”You say as the air grows thick around you.
It’s quiet. A tension between you and the brothers that quickly becomes suffocating until Asmo throws himself toward you.
“You can’t leave!” Asmo yells out as he clings onto your arm,”You can’t! Who else will let me talk about myself and agree with everything I say?!”
“Asmo…”You say with a pained expression as you look to the others.
Beels eyes can’t meet yours as he mumbled something about no longer being hungry while Belphie mutters something about having a bad dream.
“Why?!” Satan says grabbing you by the collar of your RAD uniform as he yanks you from Asmo in anger,”You’re suppose to be our attendant! You can’t just leave!”
“Satan let them go you’re going to hurt them!” Asmo says.
Satan doesn’t move his grip from you and all you could feel is the anger and resentment radiate off of him.
You try to come up with a believable excuse. After all, they can never truly know why.
But why are they acting this way?
“Diavolo said I’d be your attendant until you’ve all adjusted to being in Devildom…” You tell him as you avoid eye contact,”And you’ve all adjusted to your lives here already so…”
“Bullshit!” He tells you immediately,”That’s not the reason and you know it! Tell me the truth!”
“Oi Satan! Calm down!” Mammon says.
“I can’t stand being here anymore.” Levi says bitterly.
“Let me go Satan..”You tell him with a sad expression.
You can see his angry expression change to one with guilt as he lets his grip on you go hesitantly.
“I just don’t …understand why...” He tells you.
You don’t respond to him. You didn’t think they’d be this upset over you leaving.
After all…they always didn’t seem to care when you were requested to appear at the House. Would it have been better to have just disappeared and not say anything like Solomon wanted?
You feel a gentle touch on your hand,”Don’t go MC..” Mammon tells you with a sad expression.
“I’m sorry Mammon..”You say pulling away from his touch,”Maybe you guys will understand one day…”
“Then why not help us understand now?…”Belphie asks,”Why?…” He seems hurt by your words,”Did we mean so little to you?.. sure..we weren’t ..best of friends ..and expressing ourselves hasn’t been easy..but ..didn’t we mean something at least?…”
“Of course you did. ….You don’t know how much.” You say honestly,” Truth be told…i was never meant to say goodbye ..the plan was to just disappear without ever saying a word.”
“That’s cruel.” Beel tells you.
“You were just gonna leave us and not saying anything?” Levi says hurt by your words,”Who does that…?”
“Would it have been better that way?” You ask them honestly,
“Of course not!” Asmo tells you.
Belphie shakes his head in disbelief,” I can’t believe this conversation is happening.” Beel hums in agreement.
This didn’t make sense. Sometimes you’d go days without seeing them and when you did reappear you were hardly acknowledged unless you were in the midst of their schemes. And let’s not forget the whole reveal fiasco that occurred.
“I don’t understand.” You tell them,” I thought you guys…didn’t like me?”
“What’s MC blabbering about-“ Mammom says clearly confused,”We care. Did you not pick up on it?”
“You ..”You say confusingly,”You….you care about me?”
“Of course we do!” Mammon says angrily,”Where did you get the idea we didn’t?!”
Been hums in agreement.
“Oh…” was all the words you made out. Did you just misunderstand? Or did you not notice that these versions of the brothers had different ways of showing they cared about you?
Oh..
You could feel the hot tears begin to fall down your cheeks,”Well..cause I was a demon and then I lied about it so I assumed…. “
Everyone looks at you with sad and tearful expression as you start to cry.
Levi has a surprised look on his face,”H-hey wait -don’t do that.”
“Waaa! Don’t cry MC! You’re gonna make me cry!” Asmo says as he hugs you lovingly as his face begins to tear up.
“I’m ..”you say between sobs,”I’m so grateful to have met you guys. I’m really going to miss you all.”
“When you say it like that..”Mammon voices breaks as he attempts to hold back his emotions,”Ah dammit MC, ya making me all emotional.”
“And we will miss you as well.” Another voice speaks out from behind.
“Lucifer?..”You say trying to stop your tears as you turn to his direction.
His expression is soft yet still stern. However in his eyes holds glints of sadness at your appearance.
He sighs deeply,”I had a feeling ..that this day would...” He tells you.
“but I was also hoping…”He says his eyebrows furrow,”that it would never come…” He says with a disappointed tone.
He looks at his brothers before looking at you.
He sighs as he grabs ahold of your hands,”I’m not the best, when it comes to expressing my true feelings..however..I think I can speak for all of us when I say..we are thankful for all you’ve done for us… you made the transition of living here, in the Devildom, easier. And We couldn’t have done it..without you…”
You can’t recall a time where he’s ever been this honest. But his words seem to Pierce your heart completely as you feel your eye bubble up again with tears.
“We will be sad…to see you go…”He tells you squeezing your hands tightly for a brief moment.
You can’t help it! It’s all just too much!
You find yourself hugging Lucifer tightly as the tears stain your cheeks. After a few moments you feel a hand pat your head gently.
“Thank you..”You whisper to him. You didn’t know how badly you needed to hear him say those words to you.
When you pull away you look at everyone else. While you’re sad that you have to leave them. You know they’ll be waiting to see you again.
One by one, you hug each and everyone one of them. Reminding them that they are just as important to you as you are to them.
You remind Belphie that if he ever has trouble sleeping again -to look to the stars and count as many as he can because somewhere out there you’ll be looking at them too.
You tell Beel to avoid eating foods that will upset his stomach and that if he ever feels an uncontrollable hunger to think of silly sad stories about that food. He tells you he’ll try. And you smile because that’s all that matters.
You tell Asmo that when he starts to feel insecure about himself that he needs to your words and chant them to himself until he no longer feels that way.
You remind Satan that he’s doing his best. And one day he’ll realize how far he’s come. And if he ever feels angry, to look at the cats in the yard and befriend them.
You look at Levi, he seems so upset. After all, he thought you’d be friends forever. But you remind him, that you are always going to be friends. No matter where you go, and you tell him that if he ever feels lonely, he needs to remember he has brothers who love him just as he is.
When you break apart from Mammons he pulls you right back in. You feel him hold onto you for his dear life. You feel his body tremble against yours.. and in a quiet whisper remind Mammon that he needs to keep his buttery fingers away from trouble and he laughs. And you tell him, that he is the glue for all his brothers. That he needs to remember he’s just as important as everyone else. That he has to look out for them because they’d be lost without him. He responds with a cocky”I know.” Before he lets your hand go with the last thing he feels is the touch of your fingertips.
And finally you get to Lucifer. Despite his cold touch and attitude, his hug is quite warm.
He tells you with a whisper as he kisses your top of your hand ,” if you should ever need a job as an attendant.” you’d know where to find him. Causing you to both laugh quietly amongst each other. As you pull away from him he grabs your arm gently back.
His eyes say it all.
“Don’t go.”
You grab ahold of his hands and hold them gently in yours with a reassuring squeeze.
And in a quiet whisper….
You bow respectfully to Lucifer.
His head runs circles at your words as he bows back.
“At least send a postcard or sum Yknow.” Mammom wipes his tears with a murmur agreements following his statement.
“That might be a little difficult -“ You tell him with a reassuring smile,”But I’ll try.”
“Don’t worry.” Another voice says. You turn to see Solomon standing there with a smile,” they’re in good hands. I’ll be sure, to pass their messages onto you all.” He extends his hand out to you.
You take it with a smile,”I can go home?” You ask him with hopeful eyes.
“It’ll be like you never left.” He tells you with a knowing smile.
“Alright then… I guess….“You say as you turn back to the brothers.
“Goodbye, for now.”

𝐚/𝐧 ❥ yup, more gay hc’s bc im gay and i do what i want on this acc AHA— but anyways, yall wanted a pt 2 thanks to the poll i posted a long while ago. sorry for the delay, life got busy and i’ll probably have slower updates for now. enjoy! 🤍

𝐇𝐀𝐊𝐊𝐀𝐈 𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐁𝐀
gay panic
poor baby is weak around pretty boys!
always had eyes on you ever since you accidentally bumped into him trying to find the bathroom.
you were a good friend of yuzuha, so it’s no surprise you’d see hakkai a lot.
every time she’d invite you over to study, hakkai would have to lock himself in his room. so you wouldn’t see his beat red face.
despite that, you curiosity got the better of you.
you’d start to pay more attention to the blue haired boy, looking his way and smiling at him innocently.
you cannot lie, you love the way he practically melt when you look at him. hiding his face to avoid embarrassment, but only drawing you closer.
the gap between you two would close however, when one night, yuzuha would run out to grab some snacks. it was only you and hakkai sitting the the living room.
despite the effort, you two couldn’t ignore one another forever. one thing lead to another, and suddenly, you were talking to him.
maybe the topic of crushes comes up? to your surprise, hakkai revealed that he never had a romantic partner. sure, he did have a few crushes, mitsuya being one of them. however, he could never muster up the courage to say anything.
the both of you knew what the other was trying to say, there was no point in hiding it anymore. not with hakkai’s pink cheeks and your flushed face.
“you like me, don’t you?” you’d asked an already flustered hakkai.
there’s was no point in denying it anymore, he could only utter the word “yes.”
moving your face closer to his, you hear his breath hitch and his cheeks grow beat red. awaiting your lips to make contact with his.
it wasn’t anything intense, a quick peck that becomes a smooch when you grabbed his face and presses it closer to yours. his face was hot against your hands.
it only lasted a couple seconds, before you pulled away, meeting a flustered hakkai.
“c-can you do that again?”
𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐒𝐔𝐘𝐀 𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐈
absolute heartthrob!
it’s no surprise that a couple guys would end up crushing hard on him, including you.
after passing by his club a couple times, you couldn’t help but peer in. curious to see why mitsuya was so popular with the girls. safe to say, you got your answer.
you also decided to join the club, despite you never touching a sewing machine in your life.
despite constantly pricking your fingers, messing up a couple threads, mitsuya never once lost patience with you.
your heart flutters every time mitsuya speaks with you, whether he helps you with the sewing machine or small talk, hearing his voice only made you fall deeper in love with him.
so it's no surprise when one afternoon, you decided to shoot your shot at the club leader.
it was only you and him alone in the clubroom, since you stayed over to help him clean up.
however, as the time to leave inches closer and closer, you still couldn't spit it out. your mind became a train of thoughts that discouraged you from confessing.
you feared the thousands of possibilities of your confession going wrong, maybe he isn't into guys? does he only see you as a friend?
just when mitsuya was about to leave, you quickly stopped him before he could walk through the door.
impulsively, and messily, you finally told him the truth through stutters and shake hands. your face grew hotter and hotter from embarrassment.
shutting your eyes, you braced yourself for the rejection, when you felt a soft hand touch yours. looking up, you practically jumped when mitsuya's was near yours.
you froze when his lips touched yours, it was gentle and sweet. the taste of berry chapstick kissed your tongue, as you loose yourself to him.
pulling away, you could barely look at him in the eye. this is not how you'd get your answer, then again, you weren't complaining.
"wanna walk home with me, love?"
𝐇𝐀𝐉𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐊𝐎𝐊𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐈
my favorite bisexual ♥
you didn't pull him, he pulled you!
a couple of flirtatious remarks and even more flirtatious texts was enough to sweep you off your feet and into his arms.
but even then, you have yet to give him your first kiss.
it's a bit laughable, but poor you couldn't even look at koko without getting ridiculously flustered.
however, koko enjoyed having such a shy boyfriend.
as much as you try, he knows you'll never initiate a kiss. no matter how much you claim to or would want to "prove it", Koko can already imagined you melting into a puddle.
your first kiss with him would be a surprise.
the both of you are on one of your typical dated, ending with a simple walk through the park.
while he was talking, you were barely listening on what he was saying as you kept staring at his lips. the urge to just give them a quick peck almost took over, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it.
“hey, are you even listening?”
koko snapped you out of your trance, now his whole body is facing yours.
gazing into those eyes of his made you want to scream, trying to find a way to break it without it getting awkward.
“why the red face? i know you wanna kiss me love.”
your heart was pounding at this point. he was right, you did want to steal a kiss from him. but how could you?
cold fingertips touched your warm cheeks, which only got hotter as he rested his palms on them. your mind was running in circles at that point. the only thing you could do is shut your eyes as your boyfriend finally did the very thing you couldn't do.
what you didn't expect was a a bite to the earlobe, forcing a yelp out of you and clinging onto his shoulders.
beyond flustered to even look at him, he could only laugh at your reaction. something he both expected and enjoyed.
"what's the matter? shy?"
𝐒𝐄𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐔 𝐈𝐍𝐔𝐈
scary boyfriend who loves you!
despite all your doubts, you somehow managed to score a date with inui. boy oh boy, did that man flick a switch in you.
similar to kokonoi, you have yet to steal your first kiss with him despite dating for a good two years now.
only difference is, inui is the shy one!
attempts to kiss him ends with his hand over your lips, all while he tries to hide his flustered face and reddened cheeks.
of course, that never stopped you. it surely didn’t on the night of a certain date.
sitting in the car after spending the evening at a diner, you two were just talking, occasionally staring into one another before one of you got too shy.
suddenly an idea came over your head.
maybe you two are doing a at home date, snuggling and watching a movie. inui loves physical affection, so it’s natural for him to be a cuddle bug!
at one point, you snuggle extra close to him. maybe plant a little kiss on his shoulder.
he notices, a pink hue begins to form on his cheeks. you would keep going, kissing his shoulder up to his cheek. till he turned his head around, and you stole the opportunity.
the kiss was sudden, until inui succumbed to it.
it was slow and passionate, with you resting your hands on his shoulders to calm his tense nerves.
pulling away, inui was more flustered then before. however, he cracked a small smile before looking down at your hands that were now holding his.
“that was…better then i could imagine. 🤍”

anywhere you go
this is for @bigdumbbambieyes because i wanted her to have something to read and she requested soft harringrove so i hope i got it! <3
“Heads or tails?” Billy asked, fiddling with the coin in his hands. He looked out of place in Steve’ plaid-patterned bedroom, like he’d been dropped down from heaven the way Steve had drunkenly accused at Kildare’s party the weekend before. Billy had been practically glowing with how working at the pool had helped his tan, and Steve was just over the moon that he hadn’t managed to fuck everything up by kissing Billy in the middle of the party.
“Now?” Steve turned over onto his front so he could look over at Billy more comfortably. His sheets tangled tighter around his legs with the movement. “Like, right now?”
“Like right now, Harrington,” Billy replied. It was their version of ‘truth or dare’, developed– like so many other things– in Billy’s car. They’d decided that truth or dare felt too middle school, and this was a much more mature way of achieving the same goal. “I’ll even let you ask me this time. You call it in the air, you ask me anything.”
“Anything?”
“That the question you’re going with?”
“No.”
“Anything,” Billy confirmed. He flipped the coin, and Steve watched it tumble through the air.
“Heads.” Truth. Billy caught it in his left hand and palmed it onto the back of his right before revealing it to both of them.
“Heads. Ask away.” Steve held the chance carefully in his mind, wanting to treat it the way it deserved. Billy was still so against offering up information freely that Steve didn’t want to waste his chance on a teased ‘how long does it take you to bleach your roots?’
“Where would you most wanna move?” As soon as the lazy grin revealed Billy’s teeth, Steve realized that he’d wasted his question. He could say the answer in perfect unison with Billy at this point.
“California, on the beach.” And then Billy cocked his head to the side and looked at Steve curiously. “What about you?”
“You didn’t flip the coin.” Billy flipped it and palmed it again, never looking away from Steve.
“It’s heads.”
“You didn’t look.”
“It’s heads. Tell me.” And Steve couldn’t deny him even if he wanted to, so he sighed softly and looked over at Billy.
“I don’t have an answer.”
“You have to have an answer. You can’t possibly wanna stay in this shithole town forever when there’s a whole world out there that you haven’t seen. Hawkins is not the end of the world.”
“Fine, then anywhere.”
“Any–? That’s such a cop out, don’t do that shit. Come on, play fair.”
“You didn’t even check if it was heads!”
“Don’t have to, I just know.” Billy laid back down next to Steve, bumping his shoulder into Steve’s. The warmth rolling off of his body was almost enough to make Steve wish they’d turned on the air conditioner already, despite it being only April. “Tell me.” His whisper washed over Steve and raised goosebumps.
“Anywhere. But I have a reason.”
“Fine. Give me the reason for your cop out answer.” The note of teasing in his voice made Steve grin even as he flushed with his answer.
“Anywhere with you. It’ll all feel like home.” Billy paused before slinging his arm over Steve’s shoulders to pull him in close.
“I wanna change my answer,” he said softly. Steve melted into him.
“Billy…”
“I can’t have you outdoing me, Stevie. Only one of us is the King, you know?” Steve rolled his eyes and shoved a little at Billy, grinning at the answering bark of laughter. “Come here, baby, don’t be like that.”
“You’re a dick.” Steve curled up in Billy’s arms anyway. As he drifted off, his mind was filled with thoughts of blue skies and bluer eyes and these arms around him every night.

SOME ANDREIL/NEIL/ANDREW CODED SONGS (in my humble opinion)(with links to listen)
(because i have the biggest brainrot, they’re also just great songs so please give them a listen!)
Neath The Grove Is A Heart
Yaelokre
“Home is where we are now. Home is where you are. Home is where I am standing. Where I'Il be staying forever now”
this entire post is just gonna be my biased interpretations of songs but honestly the entire song gives vibes to me…the places that one would refer to as “home” being a constant ever changing cycle of different places, never being able to stay and settle in a physical place. but finding a home in someone else.
Room By Room
Shayfer James (I’ve almost exclusively been listening to him, so the rest of the songs are his oops)
“If the keys in my hand turned a lock of your hair I would walk through the glance, but I'd stop at the stare. And I'd follow it down To the very last step and I'd wait by the room where your secrets are kept”
THOSE ARE THE FIRST LYRICS cmon mannnn,,,learning the brutal past of someone you love as they allow you in, do i even need to say it?
First Date
Shayfer James
“Tell me your story, and I'll tell you mine, I think we will get along fine. Tell me your riddle, I'll tell you my rhyme, I think we will get along fine. And if the rules change, don't hesitate to say you've had enough of me”
It’s literally the whole beginning of their relationship, a truth for truth, trade for trade. The game of, maybe not necessarily originally trust, but of mutual understanding that grows into trust and respect.
Your Father’s Son
Shayfer James
“So if you're any good at bluffing, I suggest you do it quick 'cause everyone is next to nothing, and every tock will have a tick. It fits so well. What you've become is your father's son which will never be much of anyone”
Oh Neil, you poor boy cowering in the shadow of your father, his legacy locked within your image and the face you share with him. No matter what new name and identity you create, you know your father will never be far behind, you will always be his son. At least, that’s how it used to be.
Learning to Be Lost
Shayfer James
“I am a plagiarized autobiography of wreckage, a shipwreck in sheep's clothes. Be patient with me, I am learning to be lost. Don't be gentle. Never gentle. Be mindful of me, I will sink at any cost”
This I feel resonates more with Andrew, but one could argue resonates with both. They both have tortured pasts that are unspeakable to almost all but each other, but Andrew shoves that past and those memories behind a face of calm indifference and apathy. But they are both navigating a relationship with each other that they are unfamiliar with, and didn’t necessarily intend to enter. As they reveal bit and bit of their pasts, they don’t want pity or sympathy, their pasts are what created them and they refuse to be treated as though they are broken, especially Andrew.
Lullaby
Shayfer James & Kate Douglas
“People can't be trusted and we have to fight to stay alive. We'll always be the enemy, oh. Eye for eye and limb for limb, The blood that I've been swimming in, oh. Mother, I've grown tired of this. Mother, I've grown tired of this. There's beauty and there's empathy, some people might've cared for me. I hid my heart, and stayed inside, instead of moving with the tide”
THIS IS ALLLLL NEIL BABYYY. Blindly continuing to follow his mother’s words and advice, she kept him safe for so long after all (in her own way). He trusted that she loved him, wanted to protect him, but he missed out on so much because of her. Missed out on friends and life in general, people who might have been able to actually help him. If it wasn’t for meeting people more stubborn than him, for wanting to just exist for once, he could’ve been on the run and never settling for so much longer. Or have died.
Carve A Smile
Shayfer James
“And with every kiss you make a better man of me. The safe disguise of accidental lies won’t hide us here, no more, my dear. And I would sacrifice the air that makes my body breathe, if it keeps you safe”
They are both so willing to put themselves in harms way to protect the other, even before they came to realize just how much the other meant to them. Andrew with the intention of winning, and Neil half the time not caring if he ends up dead as long as Andrew is alright.
PLEASE DROP YOUR OWN SONG REQS i love good music.
anyway if anyone has actually made it to this point thank you for listening to my babbling. I can associate any and every song i listen to to whatever i am currently hyper fixating on and i need to express it outwardly. Hopefully yall like the music at least, even if you disagree with my interpretations!

okay wait actually now that we're on the book-series-strengths-and-shortcomings-train what do you love most about tlt and tlc? (multiple answers bonus)
HOHO A COMBO
TLC: 1) Friendship not being secondary to romance!! The series' main theme is love. In the grand finale the big bad taunts the MC about love... but she doesn't use her boyfriend, no, she uses her best friend. This is made even more powerful because by all means, the best friend was meant to be the secondary love interest by all rules of 2012 YA, but NO he is JUST A FRIEND and it is not treated as "something less". 2) Team building!!!! Oh my god!!!! Building onto point 1, but it needs its own point. Rarely does a fictional team of main characters feel as natural as the Rampion Crew. This is even more impressive because the 9 of them don't appear in the same room until the end of the series. Even though the team consists of 4 couples and 1 single, everyone has a dynamic with everyone, they have arcs that aren't tied exclusively to their partner but also someone else on the team, they interact with each other freely. 3) The wide range of characters! I am a sucker for a "team of girls totally different from each other saves the world" setup, and TLC does it perfectly. I think this is one of the best YA series out there because of how much it empowers different kinds of girls. The guys are also easy to tell apart even at first read, and I sooo appreciate that at least one of them isn't conventionally attractive (anymore). 4) It's so funny. I love these books and how funny they are. They hit the perfect balance between a fun teen adventure and a heartfelt emotional story. 5) This is one of the least "Here's what REALLY happened" series I've read. A bunch of times major things influence characters' thoughts and opinions, but those things are fake and never revealed as fake, OR the characters never learn some big things that could change their opinions at all. Seeing how impacted Winter was when she realized Levana truly loved her father, when I KNOW what really happened, always shakes me to my core - and Winter never learns the truth!!! Everyone who could explain what really happened is dead!! Winter will forever go on thinking at least her father had a marriage of love!!! And why should she learn the truth, really, it would only serve as yet another sad plot twist that traumatizes her even deeper. 6) Levana. I am not usually a villain girlie, but Levana absolutely slaps. She is simultaneously disgusting, horrible, and pitiful. Usually if I like the villain it's because he has something smart to say, but Levana doesn't, I can't relate to her or see things from her perspective... But the leads can! Levana seems to carry all the trauma and complexes of our leads, but she crumbled under them, showing Cinder what she might have become if not for her loved ones.
TLT: 1) Isn't afraid of people not getting it!! Do you understand how refreshing this is to see in a mainstream popular series??? The book doesn't act like you are an idiot, it acts like you are some sort of a genius, and you feel illiterate until you realize NO ONE got it the first time around and you're gonna have to do lots of rereading and thinking to get it. This makes it impossible to get into for some people, but so what. So what!!! What matters is that it rewards those who stay and put in the work!! 2) Absolutely bonkers insane relationships. No one can be "just a friend" in these, we need 1000 different layers of trauma and tenderness surrounding everyone. 3) Pathetic women. These books are the epitome of all the worst parts of yourself laid bare. These characters act out the most shameful, horrible memories and impulses of your heart, all the while spouting poetics about the entire situation. And it is pure catharsis!! It is so rare to see female characters depicted this pathetic without it being torture porn. 4) Writing style. It's the perfect example of how realism doesn't matter if you're good with your words. No one in these books talks like a real life person, but they are all distinct from each other and filled with personality. Every book has several lines that have the power to reduce me a to a sobbing mess just from hearing them. Just. The writing style is so good that I even enjoy reading INTERVIEWS with the author, she has a way of speaking that keeps you engaged and makes her sound so smart. 5) Each book is its own thing, keeping you on your toes, but they all still feel cohesive. It also means that even if the final book sucks, I won't have any hangups about it, since I will just be able to reread the first 3. Honestly even if AtN never comes out, I won't feel like I wasted any time, because the books are so fantastic and so worth reading that the end of the journey doesn't even matter to me that much - and if you've been here a while, you'll know what a radical statement that is for me. It is so nice to relax and enjoy the ride instead of stressing over my thoughts and opinions aging badly.

Dissonance - Chapter 2: Preparations
The House of Lamentation was in chaos.
Lucifer had been forced into a position where a secret several thousand years kept could no longer remain hidden. Belphegor’s violent opposition to the exchange program had placed him onto the path of treason, and perhaps more importantly, posed an unacceptable risk to a particular human exchange student. His brothers had reacted to the revelation that Lilith had not died when they fell, but had been reborn to live a human life in absolute secrecy from all but Lucifer, Diavolo, and Barbatos with a gambit of emotions, from shock to anger, to solemn contemplation.
They were all angry at him for keeping this information from them. Lucifer could not blame them. Slowly, each of them begrudgingly acknowledged that they could understand why the eldest had not told them of what Diavolo had done. Of the promise that he had made. If even one of them slipped up in the slightest, if the Celestial Realm had found out that Lilith’s judgment and subsequent punishment had been circumvented by the future King of the Devildom it would have led to all out war between the two realms, and likely the end of Lilith’s second chance to simply live a peaceful life. Now they knew why Lucifer was so loyal to Diavolo, although not all of them were content with that, even knowing the truth.
It was like a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders. The knowledge was no longer his burden alone to bear. Lucifer had waited, patiently, for all his brothers to calm after learning of Lilith’s human resurrection. Once a tense acceptance was reached, that was when he shared the rest of the news.
A thrill of excitement rippled through his brothers as Lucifer told them that the second human exchange student was to be Lilith’s descendant. The mood was dampened somewhat when he quickly revealed the final revelation.
There was only one living descendant of their beloved little sister. Only one chance to cling to the last living remnant of her. Lucifer left out the grim fate Barbatos had foreseen for Ezekiel. That was only if nothing changed. Nothing bad could happen to a member of his family, he wouldn’t allow it. All he needed was for their human to come home to them and everything would be fine. His brothers didn’t need to know about something that he would never allow to happen.
What they should know was why they needed to protect and cherish their lost little lamb, and why it was in everyone’s best interest that the human remain with them, where he belonged.
Forever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Attached to the file Barbatos had given Lucifer earlier there was a candid photo of Ezekiel sitting at a coffee shop enjoying a drink while scrolling through his phone. Asmo let out an unholy squeal at seeing him.
“He’s so pretty! Not as pretty as me of course, but just look at those eyes.” The fifth born had snatched the picture from Lucifer’s hand and the rest of his brothers crowded around trying to get a good look at the human that shared blood with their sister.
“Yeah. They’re kind of like mine and Belphie’s.” Beel was looking intently at the human’s face.
“A little, but not quite.” Belphie yawned, rubbing his eyes as he tried to stay awake. This was important, although he was still not happy with the fact that Lucifer had lied to them for millennia.
“Oh, but they look a bit thin, don’t they?”Beel had developed a frown the longer he looked at the photo. “I wonder what he likes to eat.”
“Hm. Yes, I think you’re right Beel, he does seem a little thin, his hair isn’t quite as shiny as it should be, and just look at those nails. He definitely bites them. Oooh, I can’t wait until he gets here! I’m going to pamper him until he’s practically glowing. After a much needed spa day I can take him shopping, he’ll look so cute when I’m done dressing him up.”
“He’s not a pet Asmo.” Satan sighed, having gotten a glance at the human he stepped back and sat down with a scowl.
“Of course not!” The Avatar of Lust sounded downright offended.
“Oi, you can’t just hog the human all to yourself Asmo. He’s going to want to learn about all the best places to have fun, and no one can show him a better time than The Great Mammon!” The second-born was not to be outdone by his little brothers.
“The only thing he’ll learn from you is how much of a scumbag you are stupid Mammon. LOL. The human’s probably a total normie. No way he’ll want to hang out with a yucky otaku like me.”
“Oi! I ain’t a scumbag!” Mammon was ignored.
“He looks really tired. Does he get enough sleep? I should get him to nap with me when he gets here. The rest of you are too loud.” Belphie yawned again, his eyes were closed and he was leaning against his twin, obviously slowly losing the battle against sleep.
“Silence!” Lucifer sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “The human will be arriving in three days, and you will all be on your best behavior. I don’t want you to overwhelm him. Remember, he does not know us and does not know about Lilith. You are going to upset and confuse him.”
“All the more reason for him to nap with me. It’ll be peaceful.” Belphie said with a lazy smirk, peeking one eye open to stare down his older brothers.
At least they were excited now. Lucifer had decided against sharing too many details about the exchange student. It was the human’s right to maintain at least some amount of privacy while he grew accustomed to his new family. All his brothers truly needed to know was that Ezekiel was all alone in the human world, and belonged with his family here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next three days saw a flurry of activity. Surprisingly all of his brothers wanted to contribute to preparing Ezekiels’ room - the spare one next to the kitchen. It had seen very little use since the occupation of the House of Lamentation by the brothers. They rarely had guests staying long enough to need a room.
Barbatos had included information on their human’s current living arrangements and all of his brothers were appalled at just how little he seemed to have - space or possessions. They did not take into account that perhaps that was a deliberate personal choice, but Lucifer did not bother trying to reign them in when they seemed so very excited about spoiling their new human. Not that the eldest would ever admit it, but he also wanted to give Ezekiel more than he might ever actually need.
Beel and Belphie strung soft star lights through the branches of the tree that was the focal point of the room. Levi and Mammon found out through Barbatos what genres of media their human liked so they could partially fill the shelves with Devildom books and manga they thought that he would like. Satan found out that Ezekiel was apparently into the occult in the human world and added a few beginner’s magical tomes to the shelves before stocking up a cabinet with potion and ritual tools and ingredients. Meanwhile Asmo somehow got clothing sizes so that he could gather some staples and basics to tide their human over until he could properly take them shopping.
Lucifer magically added a bathroom suite to the living space that included a walk-in closet. Asmo took the liberty of stocking that too. Belphie made sure the bed and bedding was some of the most comfortable in the house, aside from his own, of course. By the end of the last day before Ezekiel was scheduled to be brought, every single brother seemed satisfied that they were ready to bring their human home.
They had no idea.

It somehow only just sunk in to me that age is an extremely prevalent image in Undead Unluck
In the previous loop, Feng was an old man who resented his age, viewing it as a detriment to the skills he’d spent his entire life cultivating. The act of aging is the act of losing
Gina was a young woman who fell in love with a man who would never age, so to keep pace, she painted herself up as someone just like him. To her, to age is to change, and just like with Feng, to change is to lose who one is
She was ashamed to have Andy see her without her makeup, to see her for who she truly was, because age had robbed her of her beauty, and proved that she hadn’t used the time she had wisely to make a meaningful change in the world around her
But to Andy? A man who couldn’t age? To him, to age isn’t to lose, it’s to gain. To gain experiences, to gain new people to surround yourself with, to gain hope for a future you might never see yourself. To Andy, age isn’t a sign of weakness, loss or ugliness; it’s the sign of a life lived
Andy’s desire to die wasn’t because he was bored of living or because living itself hurt; Andy wanted to die because he had no reason to live, no purpose in his life. Andy’s inability to die meant that he simultaneously had no future and no end in sight. Because he couldn’t age and couldn’t die, he could do anything without fear, but that also meant that anything he did or accomplished would have no meaning
Life is meaningful because you have to make a choice in how to spend it, but when you can never die, you can just do anything you want without limit. It’s never too late to do anything, you never have to give up anything, the opportunity will always be there, so doing something now is just killing time, not actually enriching your life
To Andy, being unable to die meant that he couldn’t form connections with people properly. From the moment he woke up without his memories, he knew how hard it was to lose people, seeing his entire found family killed in front of him in the blink of an eye and knowing he would have to wander the world without them eternally. While he could get married and have children, eventually he would just have to watch them die, and be fated to two horrible choices: live with the weight of it forevermore, or forget those he cared for just to make that eternal life more bearable. Faced with a choice like that, of course he chose solitude, even if it drove him insane
Now that he has Fuuko, he has a reason to live. 200 years alone was enough to make him crave death, any death, as long as he didn’t have to deal with the loneliness anymore. But now? He can shoulder 4.5 billion years for the sake of someone he loves. His life now has meaning because he’s forming real memories and gaining real experiences, and once he’s rid of Undead, he’s not going to just jump straight into committing suicide; he’s going to revel in every wrinkle and liver spot and aching joint his body can throw at him as he watches the love of his life aging next to him
Of course he didn’t think Gina was ugly when the make-up came off! How could he?? Aging is the most beautiful, meaningful thing in the entire world to Andy. Gina’s life catching up with her, the proof of the years that she’s lived finally showing on her face, told Andy everything he needed to know about the struggles and achievements of her life, and he couldn’t help but admire it, cherish it, love it
Will the current Gina insist on staying forever young? Probably not, she’ll learn to appreciate the time she gets to spend with Fuuko, just like Andy has
And what about Feng? Nearly 200 years old, and the man still looks 20. He’s not just youthful, he’s immature. He’s never learned a lesson, he’s never faced loss, he’s just stubbornly held onto what he wrongly thinks matters. Once he learns the truth, will he resume his growth from that moment on, or will the facade crumble away and reveal the old man inside?
Personally, I think a parallel to Gina’s make-up would be the most fitting. An aged Feng turning away from Fuuko in shame only to finally receive the attention he’s always wanted and accepting that to age isn’t to lose, isn’t to fade, but to hone and have the opportunity to become stronger in new ways he never could before
There’s so many more characters I could talk about here, too. Akira aging while using the youthful Anno Un as an avatar; Yusai spending her youth pining for Andy only to move on and start a family; Nico growing older and forgetting the face of his wife while distancing himself from his child in fear of her replacing those memories; Juiz and Victor staying the same age for billions of years solely motivated by the thought of each other
Any one of these characters could beautifully illustrate this point, but they all would ultimately just be me saying the same thing: aging is a gift, and one that many are not lucky enough to receive

the other day i wrote a little smth as a warm up that is based mostly on musings i associate with @officialgleamstar (thank u travvy ily) and i have decided against my better judgement to post it! for funsies
~~~
Taylor’s mom bought the house.
It was a gift to them, after Normal had studied and studied to learn a spell that could regrow her disintegrated hand and after the near end of the world left them far too behind in their schooling to catch up. A safe place: they didn’t have to live there, but Link stayed there as he slowly mended the relationship with his dad, and sometimes Taylor would come for solitude, and sometimes Normal would visit just to get away from his family.
And Scary? Well.
After her stepdad’s death, she hadn’t gone back home. How could she? Her relationship with her mother was irreparably destroyed, torn to shreds and left a bleeding corpse. It was hard enough to call her when all was said and done, hands trembling as she tried to explain the craziness of the world.
She loves her mother. Her mother doesn’t deserve this: a heart broken twice over, the death of her husband and subsequent death of the daughter she knew. No, it was easier for Scary to go to Normal’s dad and beg him to use magic to wipe her mother’s memory, to give her a chance to start again.
She hopes that she’s happy, somewhere, somehow. It would make everything worth it.
Hermie stays with her at the new house most often. He, too, couldn’t go back home to his adopted parents after everything, not with how long he’s been gone, the truth of his heritage revealed. Despite it, Scary almost doesn’t mind: she likes the company, surprisingly enough.
Hermie’s mellowed out over the years. Now, at eighteen, she’s been working on her GED just like Scary has, wanting to fly over the world and audition at different colleges. I still think it’d be neat to get on Broadway, they had confessed to Scary once, when the dark of the night had been heavy and oppressive and all they could do was sit on the porch and share a blunt. Feels like a silly goal after the end of the world, though.
When they’re not trying so hard, he’s actually kind of a neat person. Scary finds his company endearing.
They never had gotten their marriage annulled. It was pointless: Taylor’s dad, for all his charms, was legally dead after disappearing when Taylor was a kid, and it would just be too much effort. Scary doesn’t think she minds, even if she hadn’t technically consented to the marriage in the first place.
Tonight, though, Normal is the one visiting. She finds him sitting in the living area, curled up in the pillows, staring wistfully at the TV screen when she comes down the stairs to make herself dinner.
“Hey, Norm,” she greets, softly, watching the way his gaze flickers to her and back again. “What’s wrong?”
“Hi, Terri,” Normal mumbles, and he shifts around a little bit, leaving just enough space for Scary to squeeze in next to him, drawing him into her arms. He goes willingly, pliant against her chest, shivering.
His hair has grown out into a wild mess of curls that he’s braided loosely. It’s cute. He’s cute, although Scary would never admit so out loud.
“Mom’s made some progress with Margaret,” he explains, his tone muffled as Scary starts to work on unbraiding his hair– as it is, it’s half fallen out, and will only make it harder to sleep later, she knows the pain pretty well. “But with Dad spending so much time with my grandparents… I don’t know. It just gives me the creeps. Is that bad?”
“If you want me to tell you you’re not a bad person, you’ve come to the wrong gal,” Scary snorts. “I’m glad to see you though. Feels like it’s been forever since you came to visit last.”
“I might stay for a few days this time. At least until Dad gets back. She told me that she’d be finding an apartment when she came back to San Dimas, so I won’t have to deal with Margaret smiling at me all the time.” Normal shudders, and he makes a quiet whimpering sound as Scary’s fingers brush a little too close to his neck.
“Stay as long as you want, seriously,” Scary tells him. “Hermie’s been practicing monologues at me again, and let me tell you, I did not miss the method acting one bit.”
Normal laughs at that, and then they fall quiet.
For some reason, he’s the easiest one to deal with, in the aftermath of it all. Link is just… angry at the world, and all the sweet charm that had attracted Scary to him in the first place is gone, replaced with a quiet frustration. Oh, he’s still the loyal teddy bear to them and the others, but even as he repairs things with Grant…
…he hasn’t been the same, after it all.
Then again, had any of them? Scary thinks if she told her younger self that one day she’d be here, living in an extravagant house paid by a famous voice actress, holding Normal Oak in the closest facsimile to a relationship she’s ever had… well, she’d think it was a crazy fever dream, for sure.
It’s nice. Scary’s had the concept of family broken and plastered with glue and duck-tape and then broken again, but somehow she’s found it, and she’s found it here: playing with Normal’s hair, twisting the curls in her fingers now that it’s freed from its constraints, his head tucked into her chest, body pliant against hers.
It’s the closest thing to love that she has, and by the Gods Above, she’s going to take it.
“Norm, I can feel you falling asleep against me,” she finally says, snickering with amusement at the way Normal only hums in response. “Do you wanna change first? Or at least go upstairs?”
“I’m already comfy right here,” he replies, the pout evident in his tone, and to punctuate it, he nuzzles further into her chest, nudging Scary backwards until she’s comfy herself against the arm of the couch, Normal crumpled in her arms. Here, their legs are intertwined, and she can still play with his hair, and the blankets they keep on the couch for this specific reason are all tangled around them.
“You’re gonna have to deal with my backache tomorrow,” she warns, but she can’t keep the smile out of her tone, and she hesitates, and then commits, leaning in to press a kiss to Normal’s forehead. “Get some rest, dork. I’ll get Hermie to make us pancakes in the morning.”
“Hermie’s pancakes suck,” Normal huffs, but as his breath evens out, Scary just smiles again.
It’s not what she pictured for herself, sure, but in this moment? There’s nowhere else she’d rather be.
wawawa i got to the act 3 finale again and looked at both options this time and both are. SO GOOD.
act 3 spoilers, because i have to ramble right now.
like saying its name leads to a SUPER eerie scene. the screen gets darker, sif and the king both take more and more damage, sif's family rally in concern at what is happening-
this variant of the scene also brings up the shattering star imagery two more times - each time sif and the king try to say it. which makes it obvious why they both keep taking damage. something is breaking. siffrin is desperate. maybe he can say it. maybe he can finally say it, finally remember. siffrin starts literally spitting blood and breaking apart and then it kills them.
and the other variant of this scene. not saying it. ohahahaha. it's also very good. the scene is much less eerie, but all the more visceral for it. sif refuses to say it. the screen stays bright. sif's internal monologue continues. they can never say it. something terrible will happen if they do. (and in another time, you can see exactly what that is.) the king begs siffrin to try, but sif refuses, because he cannot allow himself to have hope.
siffrin fucking GETS IT. but they also understand, their home is dead and gone. so they just start YELLING at the king at the top of their lungs, stop it stop it stop it LET IT DIE!! WE HAVE TO LET GO!!!
but the king tries anyway. and everything stops.
it's so. it's so interesting how both of these scenes lead siffrin to the same conclusion: that the king is a fucking moron for even trying. because. there's two aspects to siffrin here.
1.) they know the country is gone. they know it will never come back. it is useless to try.
2.) he would like it to be, anyway
so in a way, the two variants of this scene just lean into one of these aspects. either siffrin is desperate enough to try, or refuses to ever bother for fear of the consequence. and in both scenarios, siffrin is proven right, that the consequence is grave, and attempting it is tantamount to suicide. yet the king and siffrin also get so tantalizingly close anyway, that siffrin berates themself for never taking their own advice. it's a logic vs emotions thing. of course the logical thing is to let go. but emotionally, they really can't.
that's siffrin's whole thing. he can never let go. yet it all slips from his grasp anyway.
it's fantastic, is what i'm saying, how both scenes reveal the same deeper truth about the character through drastically different means, and both scenes have severe emotional weight and impact, regardless of if its horrifying dread or hopeless anger.
and then. of course. talking to the king again. aurgrhhrhrh.
to either scene, it's such a natural next step that you finally get to know the king's backstory. and from everything gleaned in act 3 so far, it has to be a glaring mirror to siffrin's. the two went through the exact same experience, the same loss, the same wanderings, the same new home and same acceptance and same fear of losing it all over again.
when siffrin picks up the mirror picture again, he talks a lot like the king. they talk a lot like the king in general. it's not a coincidence. it's a gradual build up through the third act, especially noticable if you do the family questlines again. sif will mention that they're selfish for doing this, but they like the reassurance again anyway. he likes knowing what happens next. he knows how to make everyone happy, now. wouldn't it be nice to make everyone happy, the best version of themselves they can be, forever?
so. of course you have the option to trust the king. this act is specifically building him up as a foil to siffrin. and again you have that choice, do you have hope, or do you refuse to even try?
which, of course, all comes crashing down when the king reveals he's a massive piece of shit, even with the exact same sobstory as siffrin. aurgh.
goddddd it's just too good okay.
Birds of a Feather- Chapter 2
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Reader
Summary: you're stationed at Top Gun with your brother's long time best friend/your forever crush, Bradley. When you finally realized that your feelings were unrequited, you settled for Adrian. But what happens when Rooster reveals the truth about the man you thought loved you endlessly?
A/N: HI GUYS! I'M BACK!! This is my new series because i am an absolute hoe for Rooster, so I'm gifting this to all of you. I will be coming back to Anything But Free as well, I just needed to get this out of my head. I promise I will try to make the other chapters longer!
Warnings: fluff, pining, cheating, language, angst
Word Count: 2,617
-------------
Rooster’s POV
Rooster hadn’t slept for more than an hour. When he finally did fall asleep around 4am, all he did was dream of you. By the time he woke, he had resolved that today, he would tell you everything. There was the possibility of losing you, sure. But even that was better than watching a cheating pig like Adrian use you over and over again. He got dressed into his running clothes so he could at least jog to your house to plan what he was going to say. As he stepped outside, locked his door, and began running, the intrusive thoughts returned.
There was no easy way to tell you that the man you’d loved for so long couldn’t care less about your feelings. The man you’d given so much, and from whom you’d received nothing in return. The man who broke your heart over and over again while Rooster picked up the pieces and put you back together. His brain was so full of thoughts and anxiety, he hadn’t even realized he was at your door.
Reader’s POV
As soon as you open your front door, Rooster envelopes you in one of his famous Bradshaw hugs. The moment his arms are around you, something inside you snaps and the dam breaks. You start sobbing, and Rooster picks you up and carries you to the kitchen. He sets you on the counter, staring at you.
“Are you- Do I smell biscuits and gravy?”
You laugh through your tears, “I made it for Adrian since it’s our anniversary but he won’t be home for breakfast. I was going to bring it to work for you.”
Rooster shakes his head, laughing with you, “you’re the best. And I will eat it later if you still want me to. But right now, I have to talk to you before I chicken out.”
He stands in front of you, taking your hands in his. “What I’m about to tell you is a big deal. If you never want to see me again because I’m the one telling you, I’m okay with that. I just couldn’t forgive myself if I let this go on any longer.”
You watch him cautiously, cocking an eyebrow, “Bradley, you’re freaking me out.”
He takes a deep breath and lets out in one breath, “Adrian is cheating on you.”
“He’s what?” You let out a nervous laugh, unsure of how else to react, “what are you talking about?”
“Like eight months ago, remember when you had pneumonia and you wouldn’t let anyone come over because you didn’t want them to get sick? You were upset because Adrian said he was working or some shit and he wouldn’t bring you soup. Well, he wasn’t sick. He was at the Hard Deck.”
Your heart sinks like it did earlier when you received Adrian’s text, “why would he lie to me about that? He could have just told me.”
“He lied because he didn’t want you to know he was there. He was there with another woman. I caught them fucking in the bathroom. He saw me and told me that you’d never believe me. And if you did, you would never trust me again because I ruined your relationship.”
You sit in silence for a few minutes, staring at your shoes and avoiding your best friend’s gaze. After a few minutes, he speaks up again.
“Do you want me to leave?”
“No.”
“Do you want to stay here?”
“Where else am I gonna go, Roo?” You finally make eye contact with him, his eyes pleading with yours.
“You can stay with me. I’ll help you move your stuff, we can carpool to work, it’ll be great.”
You feel warmth in your cheeks, but your smile falters almost immediately, “Why would he do this to me? Do I deserve this?”
Bradley wraps you in his arms again, kissing your forehead like he always does, “of course not, sweet girl. You only deserve happiness. He did this because he is spineless, and he doesn’t understand how wonderful you are. You are sunshine. When you walk in the room, everyone smiles. Adrian is selfish. You deserve someone who will take care of you.” Someone like me, his inner voice chimes in.
You take a deep breath to steel your nerves, “we should get ready for work.”
“I already called Mav and explained everything. We’re off the hook for today. He told me to take care of you. So, what do you want to do?”
“I think I need to leave him, Roo. I’m so tired. All this time he’s just been tolerating everything I do for him. I can’t do this anymore. This is the end.”
He squeezes you tightly one last time, “I’m gonna call a moving truck and have them come meet us here while we start packing your stuff. You’re gonna stay with me. It’s gonna be great.” Rooster picks up his phone and heads into the other room, making arrangements. You slowly slide off the counter and walk around the home you shared with the man you thought would be your endgame. You run your fingers along the walls, looking at the photos you’ve taken together. With Rooster’s bombshell, you’re noticing new details. How Adrian’s smile never really reached his eyes. How, on the few times he put his arm around you, it was possessive, like he was holding you in place. On the other end of the spectrum, there were photos where you were leaning on him, and he wasn’t returning the affection at all. He was simply supporting your weight.
When you reach your bedroom, you grab your suitcase set from under your bed. It was a gift from Adrian for your one-year anniversary when you’d made plans to go to Cabo together. A trip that had never happened because he’d “had to work.” Now, you wondered how many times he’d used that excuse on the phone with you with another woman’s tongue down his throat.
You went to your closet and started mindlessly packing your clothes into your suitcase, dissociating from the activity. Every so often, you find a t-shirt or hoodie of Adrian’s in the mix of your stuff, and you carefully fold it and put it on his side of the bed. You know with every fiber of your being that if you allowed any part of Adrian to slip through the cracks, you would forgive everything he had put you through.
You don’t know how long it’s been when Rooster puts a hand on your shoulder, making you jump.
“Sorry! I just wanted to tell you movers will be here soon. They’ll bring boxes for everything and pack it really carefully and bring it to my house. When we finish packing your clothes, we can get lunch and drive to my- our house.” He gives you a sweet smile before helping you continue to pack. When you fill up your largest suitcase, you move onto your smaller suitcases and pack your lighter clothes and accessories in them. Periodically, Rooster will hold up an article of your clothing and ask if you think he can pull it off, earning a small smile from you. Otherwise, you work in silence, both of you unable to fill the void that you feel in your heart. Eventually, the movers arrive and Rooster lets them in and explains the situation, then returns to finish helping you.
—------
Rooster’s POV
He’s helping you pack your last few items, when suddenly you speak up.
“Roo… Why are you helping me?”
Because I love you! His inner monologue screams. He bites his lip, continuing to fold your clothes.
“Because you’re my best friend. I care about you. Because I should have told you sooner. And… because it’s what my dad would’ve done.”
“Oh… Well why did you think I wouldn’t forgive you for telling me?”
Rooster takes a deep breath, putting your last pair of pants in your suitcase. “Adrian… He got in my head. He told me that if I told you what was going on, you would blame me for your relationship ending.”
You bite your lip, letting a nervous laugh slip out as you look around the bedroom which was now devoid of your belongings.
“Bradley… You realize that’s silly, right? He’s the reason the relationship is ending. He cheated. He just can’t handle taking the blame for something for once in his fucking life. He knows you’re too good to not tell me, so he manipulated you. That’s what he-” The sound of a car door closing cuts you off, and you look at your best friend with wide eyes.
“It’s okay, we have all of your stuff and the movers are gonna finish up. We can go. You don’t have to say anything to him.” He takes all of your suitcases in his hands with ease, and you follow him to the staircase.
“Baby? Are you here?” You hear your now-ex call from the foyer.
You shrink behind Bradley as you round the corner and begin your trek down the stairs.
“Y/N? What’s going on?”
“I-” Bradley shakes his head, turning slightly to give you a look.
“What the fuck does it look like, Adrian? She’s leaving you. You fucked up for the last time.”
Adrian scoffs, sending shivers up your spine, “yeah? And I suppose you’re gonna take care of her, big man? She’ll never forgive you. You did this.”
Bradley starts to say something, but you dodge around him and come face-to-face with the man you once loved.
“He didn’t do shit, Adrian. He didn’t cheat on me. He didn’t abandon me when I needed him most. He didn’t laugh at me with his friends. He didn’t ditch me on anniversaries, birthdays, when I was sick, just to fuck someone else. Bradley is the only one in this house who cares about me. The only thing he did was spare me from thinking you were my forever. Fuck you, and fuck everything I ever let you put me through.” Holding back tears, you pull out your favorite photo of the two of you, from your very first date at the Santa Monica Pier. You rip it into pieces while maintaining eye contact with him, then drop it to the floor.
You walk out of your house and hop in the passenger’s seat of Rooster’s car, and the dam breaks. Every emotion you’ve felt today comes pouring out, and you start sobbing. The loss of everything you thought you had comes crashing down, and you struggle to breathe between your sobs. You hear Bradley close the tailgate after loading your stuff, but your body won’t let the tears stop. He opens his door and when he sees your current state, his face falls.
—----------------
Rooster’s POV
“It’s okay, sweet girl. He can’t hurt you anymore. He can’t touch you. I won’t let him get near you ever again.” He continues whispering sweet nothings against your hair until he’s sure you’ve stopped crying. He drives you to his house with a determination you’ve never seen before and gets there in record time.
He steps out of the car and comes around to let you out, scooping you up in his arms and carrying you inside. He takes you up the stairs and sets you in his large master bathroom. He scuttles around, grabbing various bath products and towels, then turns on his bathtub faucet.
“Take a bath, take some deep breaths. I’ll get your clothes and some pajamas. Do you want to sleep in the guest room or my bedroom? I can sleep in the guest room if you want my bed, it’s more comfortable honestly.”
He can see the gears turning in your head as you weigh your options, then meets your gaze when your head moves up to look at him. “Can I sleep in your bed with you? I just want to cuddle… It’s okay if not I don’t want to bother you, I don’t want to make you uncomfortable I just don’t want to be alone and you’re my best friend-”
He cuts you off with a hug, and all he can think is that he’s screwed. Completely, totally screwed.
—-------------
Reader’s POV
Bradley’s quiet for a moment as he holds you, and all you can think is that you should have never overstepped. You know immediately you fucked up by asking him that, and nothing would ever be the same again.
He steps back with his hands on your shoulders, looking you directly in the eye again, “of course you can. It won’t bother me, it won’t make me uncomfortable. I know you need affection, and I’m your best friend. I’ll always be here for you. Now, I’m gonna go get your stuff, I’ll leave you some pajamas outside the door. Take your time and just breathe.”
You nod and thank him before stripping and slowly sinking into the tub, almost moaning at how surreal the water feels on your skin. Your mind wanders to when you were living with Adrian and how he never wanted you to take baths because it was time spent away from him. You couldn’t go out with friends, you couldn’t go on walks without him suspecting something was going on. He truly did trap you into thinking you were safe with him.
You shake off the thoughts of your ex and sink deeper into the water, letting your mind roam to thoughts of your best friend. He had done so much for you, and you had no idea how you would ever repay him. You’d had feelings for him years ago, and having him take care of you now was making those feelings resurface. It had been so long since someone had genuinely cared about you, listened to you, or made you feel appreciated. And here Bradley was, doing all those things like he always did. Ever since you had started dating Adrian, you could see that Bradley was concerned. You’d thought it was just a friendly kind of concern, but now you suspected it was more than that. Could this be the catalyst you needed to finally be with someone who showed you he cared about you every day? Could you confess your feelings without Bradley thinking it was an impulsive decision based on your current situation?
As you wash up and finish your bath, you resolve to tell Bradley in the morning when you were clear headed. Tonight, you would just bask in the affection and the knowledge that despite Adrian’s best efforts, you did have someone in your life that cherished you. And that was what mattered.
You get up and dry off, then turn to see your pajamas on the counter, along with a pair of underwear. Your eyes widen, embarrassed that he went through your underwear, until you realize that if the clothes are in the bathroom, that means he saw you in the bathtub. You blush at the thought of him seeing you naked but regretting you didn’t get to see his face. Did he linger to watch you? To appreciate you? You shake off the intrusive thoughts and get dressed before leaving the bathroom to see Bradley laying in his bed in shorts with no shirt. He extends his arms to invite you in, and you don’t waste a moment climbing into bed and snuggling up to him. He rolls the both of you onto your sides, still holding you close.
“Is this okay?” He asks softly into your hair, and you feel him start to stroke your arm.
“It’s perfect,” you mumble back, his touch lulling you into the first peaceful sleep you’ve had in months.
New chapter because, against my better judgement, I continue to have Thoughts and Feelings:
There were a few truths Ashton had come to terms with over the past several years of living.
1) Nobody owes you shit
2) Vulnerability makes you a target
3) They are expendable
Ashton learned all of this the hard way. Life (and, frankly, people) had tossed and ground Ashton down into what he was today, a thing not to be fucked with. Raw and scraped and hard like an attack dog on a barely strung together leash, they wanted to present to the world that they couldn’t be pushed around any more, and, more importantly, he’d push right fucking back.
But recently, inexplicably, they’ve found himself with a group of people who asked for vulnerability, showed care, and stayed with them through their fuck ups. Suddenly the shield they’ve constructed around their softness was being chipped away and cracked; then, all at once, shattered, to reveal a scared child. A child who craved the comfort and safety of family, of love, but who deep down knew that they were a wretched thing meant to be tossed aside.
Knowing you are wretched and unworthy of love does not discount one from craving it regardless, and, despite their better judgement, Ashton craved. Ashton yearned. And wasn’t that just the fucking worst? To want something that you knew was forever out of your reach?
Fearne Calloway was ethereal and chaotic and perfect. She poked and prodded his mind and his pockets in a fantastic dance of push and pull. She operated on the same wavelength as Ashton, one of fun and mischief that skirted the edge of danger. Or at least he thought, until they finally collided and danger came hurtling towards them both and everything came crashing down. Now their small flirtations felt like things of the past. Now Fearne knew how dangerous it was to come close to loving a bomb. Now they shared the shards of titan lovers, and didn’t Ashton want to fight destiny? Didn’t Ashton want to rebel against what was expected of them? Fuck.
Then there was Orym. Orym who was always gentle and consistent. Who made dumb jokes and showed Ashton that their pain mattered to someone else and worked in perfect tandem with them on the battle field. Orym who told them that he cared for them when nobody else would. That what they were feeling was okay. Who promised to pick Ashton up and asked the same in turn. Who always touched them with sweet reverence and intent. Orym. Who was in love with a dead man, and, Ashton guessed, a faraway companion. Orym who deeply understood what it meant to be in love. The kind of love that Ashton didn’t believe could be offered to them.
Suddenly Ashton was vulnerable and bared for the Bell’s Hells to see. They were a small desperate thing hoping for love and affection and family, and while they were beginning to believe they’d found the family that finally wouldn’t leave them bleeding and alone, they still craved something closer. Something sweeter. Something more intimate and vastly beyond their reach.
The fact that they were unlovable was oh so slowly melting into fiction, and yet…
They’d pushed Fearne away through carelessness. Now the most they could ever hope from her is a casual threesome with Chetney, but love? Out of the question. And Orym could never offer more than the present platonic closeness, he has loved deeply and lost far greater than Ashton, and, honestly, what right did Ashton have to wish for more?
