#if if the past few weeks have been distant which I understand

Hi can I request a Neteyam imagine where his female mate has been very busy hunting and training and hasn’t had much time to see him for a few weeks so he sneakily makes a hole in her marui to try to get her to sleep in his one as he knows that she gets cold easily and it works as one night she wakes up freezing and sneaks into his family’s marui moving his blanket so she can be under it cuddling in his arms which wakes him and he puts his face into her neck and wraps his arms around her tightly not wanting to let go as he misses her giving her soft kisses on her neck making her laugh quietly as to not wake up the rest of his family? Thanks 😊
Miss you

You didn’t realise you were neglecting him. You had been so occupied with your duties that you barely spared it a second thought. Yes, you knew you had been hunting and training a lot more than you had promised you would— but Neteyam would understand. He has the same duties, the same pressure— even more so than you, but the only thing you couldn’t see was the amount of effort he was still putting in.
“Baby, just a few more minutes” He pleads, hand grasping onto yours as he gives you a look. He was desperate, this was the first time he’d seen you the whole day and you had spent only mere minutes with him.
“You know I can’t. Nete, I’m training with Ronal. You know how strict she can be” You reason, already pulling away from him until he finally lets go of your hand. You quickly peck him on the cheek, giving him a brief goodbye before you made your way to the marui pods.
Neteyam huffs in defeat as he watches you walk away from him, already missing the way you feel. He didn’t think he was the clingy type until recently when he realised how distant you had been. You didn’t have time to swim with him, braid his hair or even sleep in the same marui pod as him. You used to take random walks and hide out somewhere so the two of you could just spend time alone.
Over the past few weeks, Neteyam has made numerous attempts to try and get you to spend time with him longer— but as usual, training and hunting has been your main priority. It didn’t matter what he attempted, you were too stubborn. He’s finally had enough of it, he decides as he stands and makes his way to the pods.
“What’re you doing?” Lo’ak questions his older brother as he passes him, stopping briefly to question his brother who looks as if he’s on a mission. Which he was— it was just one that sounded stupid and desperate, he wanted to spare himself from being teased by his brother.
“Nothing important. Mind your business” Neteyam plays it off, ignoring the way his brother calls after him as he walks past him and makes a beeline to your marui pod.
He knew you were busy in your lessons with Ronal, so that would buy him a few hours. He wasn’t sure what drove him to this point, usually he would process such things rationally but he didn’t care at this point. This was childish and borderline psychotic, but he had run out of options. If you weren’t going to willingly stay with him, then he was going to force you to come to him. With that thought in his head, Neteyam got to work.
You returned to your home that night absolutely worn out from a day full of work. You had spent more hours than you intended with Ronal and you couldn’t wait to just lay in bed and sleep. You felt guilty for barely seeing Neteyam today but you would make it up to him tomorrow. Although you had finally pulled your blanket over you and your head had hit your pillow long ago— you couldn’t sleep.
Goosebumps were evident on your skin, your teeth chattering slightly as you tossed and turned— attempting to warm yourself up whilst tucking yourself further into the blanket. Despite your attempts, you were still shivering and freezing to death. The cold breeze from the ocean had no effect on you until now and you didn’t know what to do. You huff before standing, tightening the cloth around you before you quietly tiptoe out of your marui.
His was full of his sleeping family, you feel guilty for intruding them especially in the dead of night but you had no other solutions. You could’ve layered on a thousand blankets to warm you if you could, but you knew only Neteyam could help you. You quietly step into their marui, careful not to step on any of their tails and you make your way to Neteyam’s side.
He had been secretly waiting for your arrival, Neteyam figured his plan would succeed so he had spent majority of his night tossing and turning while waiting for you. He had started to lose hope— deciding that maybe you had managed to fall asleep anyway. Unfortunately, he couldn’t help himself and sleep got to the better of him.
“Nete” You whisper carefully, placing a hand on his shoulder as you gently shake him. When he doesn’t budge, you do it again— this time saying his full name. Yet again, nothing. So instead you take it upon yourself to step over him and pull his blanket back. You slip into the space beside him, sighing in relief when you throw the covers back over the two of you.
The warmth of his body felt so good radiating against yours, you couldn’t resist fully cuddling into him— your arms wrapping around his torso and your face pressing into his chest that rose gently as he breathed. You could finally rest, your eyelids feeling heavy as you eventually lull yourself to sleep.
Neteyam wakes barely an hour after you had crept into their marui and seeked refuge in his bed. He smiles to himself when he realises you’re pressed up against him, your face tucked into his shoulder and arms still wrapped around him as you slept. He craved this for so long and now he finally has it.
He presses soft kisses against your neck, sighing in relief at the feeling he loves most. He tries to be careful not to wake you as you shift slightly from the feeling of his lips on your skin, but he can’t stop himself. Which results in you eventually opening your eyes.
“You’re relentless” You laugh quietly as you pull back from him. He shushes you, glancing at his sleeping family right beside you before he presses his lips against yours. You feel him smile into the kiss-- causing you to do the same.

I'm presenting this to myself as a birthday gift 😌
Broken angel
Characters : Hawks/ Fem reader
Warnings and Genre : NSFW/ 18+/ Angst/ Sexual Intercourse/ Creampie/ One Shot
Summary : The heroes might have won the final war, but its scars are a whole other story, so what happens when Hawks finally breaks down in your presence?
Please do not read if you're a minor
Masterlist|Second Masterlist
Tumblr media
You kiss his scar once, twice, thrice, and a couple more times until he starts chuckling tiredly, "okay okay I get it, you can stop now!" and he's playfully pushing you off of him but you refuse to budge.
_ "No not yet!" and you kiss the scar reaching the side of his face yet again.
He's been gloomy lately, quiet and distant.. understandable right? the war has left its trace on him as well as it did everyone else, and your once cheerful and lively boyfriend is now but a shell of what he used to be.
You refuse badgering him into reliving those painful memories, although you wish he would open up to you— even a little. If only he would do that..
_ "Alright, get off me sweetheart, seriously." he squeezes your ass cheeks teasingly before giving you a playful smak.
_ "I love you Keigo, you know that right?" if you're unable to get through to him, then maybe you can remind him that he's never going to be alone.
_ "I know that, and I love you too." his fingers trace your thighs lazily, almost absentmindedly as he turns his head to the side.
That's how it's been lately, almost every exchange between you two ends in him slipping away further from you, one way or another.
It hurts, of course it does, watching the one you love the most stubbornly fighting his lurking demons all by himself, makes you feel powerless.
_ "Keigo, please look at me." you push a bit more, cautiously so, tightening your thighs on each side of his slim waist, and placing your palms flat against his chest.
He's looking away still, and the lump in your throat only grows with each second that passes, "Keigo.." you call out again, and yet.. nothing.
You lean in once more, pressing your forehead to his cheek and sighing heavily, "I just want you to know that I'm right here, for as long as you'll have me, I can only imagine what's going on in your mind and I know it's a struggle, so please allow me to share your burden."
Your lips trail soft kisses along his scarred skin, from the side of his face and down to his neck where you linger, bracing yourself for yet another dismissive response.
_ "I want you right now." his words are dark, almost desperate as he growls his demand and cradles your butt cheeks, pressing you down on him and grinding up against your clothed pussy.
Your body stiffens but only for a moment, as you did not foresee this turn of events. If anything, you anticipated that little fake laugh which has never fooled you, as well as the good old "I swear I'm fine love."
But something is different tonight, he's finally holding on to you after weeks of running away, he's finally expressing his desire clearly after silently suffering for long, and you find yourself biting those burning tears back as you are suddenly reminded of that night -some years ago- when he broke down and bared his soul to you, keeping nothing in as he weeped and screamed and held you throughout the night, it was him Keigo Takami, not the nation's beloved Hawks.
That night -some years ago- the facade he kept up for most of his life had finally come down in front of you, but these past few weeks wrecked it all and reminded you of the way things were when you only knew him as Hawks.
_ "I'm all yours Keigo," you whisper back and press your lips against his parted ones in a heated liplock, it's warm and urgent, same as the hands hiking your shirt up and sneaking past the silky trim of your panties.
You raise your hips quickly, wordlessly begging him to rid you of the soft garment and ravish you at once. You miss this, you miss him.
He groans into the kiss, pushing the delicate fabric down, and you clumsily work it out of your legs without breaking apart of your boyfriend's lips.
You cradle his cheeks, as a strangled whine leaves your throat when he licks his way into your mouth. His tongue is burning hot and his hands are relentlessly exploring every inch of you he can reach from his position.
His slender fingers squeeze your buttocks firmly, pinning you down on his throbbing bulge and you both moan at the tempting friction created between you.
And with a sudden gasp, you find yourself on your back, sinking into the fluffy bedsheets, as he flips your positions and settles between your legs.
_ "Stay still." the darkness in his voice only deepens as he hastily peels off his shirt and lowers his sweatpants.
You swallow thickly watching his cock spring back against his abdomen, hard and raging, as if reflecting your boyfriend's impatience to be sheathed deep into your core.
You're a bit intimidated by his overwhelming aura as your eyes travel up to study his face, his gold brown irises gleam with intense longing, his strong jaw clenched and his lips sealed in a firm line.
He grasps his raging shaft and pumps it lazily, hissing while his knees nudge your legs further apart. His thick brows are knitted and his breathing is labored as he huskily demands you remove your shirt.
It should be frightening right? He has never been so forceful before, never so unhinged, but something about this unusual side of him is intriguing.
You follow the order and struggle to take off your remaining garment as gracefully as you possibly can from where you're laying under his watchful eyes, whimpering unintelligibly and biting down on your lip when he swiftly grabs onto your thighs and pulls you closer.
He's not speaking, not smiling, nor is he touching you gently or kissing you softly like he always does right before easing himself into your heat. No he's not.. not tonight.. tonight is all about a primal desire that's been fueled with weeks of stifled emotions.
_ "Don't hold back, Keigo.." you beg breathily, too afraid of losing him again, and it was the sign he's been waiting for, to snap his hips and sink deep into your core with one hard thrust.
Your eyes roll back and your mouth falls open, but nothing comes past it except for a strangled mewl as you dig your nails into his arms while feeling the delicious sting of the first intrusion.
His eyes are trained on your flushed skin and heaving chest as he pulls back to the tip and slams his way into you once more.
The remnants of his beautiful crimson feathers flutter restlessly around him, old scars mixed with recent ones are scattered across his otherwise fair skin, and an alluring expression is adorning his features as he pounds you into oblivion..
At this moment, and through your hazy eyes, he looks like an angel.. a broken angel.
_ "Keigo, Keigo, kiss me, please.." tears form in your eyes as you reach out a shaky hand, clumsily smoothing out his scowl and bringing his face closer.
His lips crash against yours painfully, sloppily, as he bites onto your bottom one and swallows your desirous whimpers.
His hands travel up to clutch onto your bouncy breasts, groping and kneading the soft flesh as his thrusts turn even harder and faster.
Your fingers caress his arms and shakily move around his neck and back to trace every fading scar on his sweat glistening skin.
_ "Talk to me, Keigo, please tell me what you're thinking." you whimper between sloppy kisses only to receive another hard plunge as a response.
He's not ready to talk yet, and you get it.
His lips leave yours and travel along your jaw, trailing wet kisses in their wake and move further down to suck on the sensitive skin of your neck.
You cry out his name over and over again, pulling on his hair weakly as that familiar warmth is strating to pool within you.
You will not be able to last much longer, and neither will he.
His twitching shaft and erratic hips are slamming mercilessly against your own, again and again, and then you hear it..
The sound of your name flowing out of his mouth, gruff and desperate as he fucks you even harder.
The bruising clutch on your sides trembles, and the lustful growls of your name don't seem to subside.
Your fingers leave his ash blonde hair to dig into the flexing muscles of his shoulders, and you squeeze your legs around his stuttering waist while shockwaves of pleasure wash over you as your lover's voice fills your senses.
You shudder violently with every deep thrust he delivers, and your vision blurs as he pushes one more time into your heat before releasing his pearly seeds and coating your clenching walls without a warning.
He has never done it before, not without asking for your permission beforehand. But even so, you're not mad, you're not pushing him away or asking him to stop and pull out.
In fact, you're squeezing him in your arms, tears are falling down your face as you beg him to keep going, "please, don't pull out, Keigo please!"
And he does as instructed, fulfilling your wish and emptying his thick load in your welcoming cunt before collapsing on top of you, with his softening cock still sheathed within.
Labored breathing, desperate gasps and sweaty bodies are entangled in the warmth of your messy bed. And for a moment, no words were exchanged between you.
But suddenly..
_ "I can't get it out of my head," he's talking, "I can't stop picturing the blood and the terror," he's talking, "even when I close my eyes, I can still see it all," just like that night -some years ago- he's burying his face in the warmth of your neck and finally speaking, "the destruction, the victims and their screams," he's finally talking after weeks of shutting down, but his words are stabbing at your heart.
You get it though, you always have. Many have fallen during the war, and just as many were left with permanent scars on their souls, and Keigo is but one example.
You run your fingers through his disheveled hair, placing the softest kisses on his shoulder and tracing the expanse of his scarred back where you linger a bit, to caress his feathers, "I know Keigo, I understand how you're feeling, it's hard and it's suffocating but trust me, it will get better eventually," you bite back a sob and take a deep breath before carrying on, "you will never be alone, I'm right here and will always be," you squeeze him tighter as warm tears start to fall down your face once more.
You hate how weak you're being, you feel so powerless when the person you love the most needs you, "I wish there was something I could do to make you feel better, but I promise that we will figure it out together."
He's not talking anymore, but.. something warm and wet is trickling down your neck, soft sobs are escaping his throat as he breaks down in your arms.
It kills you, crushes your heart and devastates you, but maybe this is what he needs, maybe he should feel the pain instead of escaping it, maybe he has to face his demons and fight, maybe then he will have his closure.
You listen to his whimpers and cry with him, as his arms crush you between them. It will be a long way, but you'll walk it alongside him.
_ "I'm sorry honey, I'm so sorry for taking my frustration out on you, please forgive me." he sounds weak and broken, too ashamed to look you in the eyes, but you refuse to lose him again.
You cradle his tear stained cheeks and force him to face you. His eyes are red and puffy, a soft loving gaze is emanating from them— unlike the one from earlier, and the sight of it brings a little smile to your face, "there is nothing to forgive Keigo, you can do whatever you want with me, you can even scream and cry or punch a wall if you wish, and I'll do it with you, just don't run away from me again, please."
He hums softly and pecks you once, pulling away but only for a moment to word his response "you have my word," before pressing his lips with yours yet again.
He's been alone most of his life, fending for himself against the world, but not anymore, because now he has you.

You never really fought with Wanda. From the moment the two of you started dating, your relationship effortlessly embodied the essence of the honeymoon stage throughout most of your time together. Nothing ever escalated enough to the point where the two of you would yell at each other, and it was usually not a result of avoiding conflict. There were times when short-lived arguments would occur and last about an hour or so, but even then, they were never too much of a big deal. The two of you just talked a lot more. Communicated. She was patient and understanding, and so were you.
But soon, a subtle shift had taken hold of Wanda's world, and you couldn't help but notice the quietness that had settled upon the recent time you spent together. In the past few weeks, Wanda's presence felt somewhat distant, her thoughts seemingly consumed by a demanding pursuit. You could see it. Your eyes noticed the telltale signs almost immediately, the late nights spent poring over textbooks, the fatigue etched on Wanda's face, and the weight of countless assignments pressing upon her shoulders.
Sitting near her desk in the apartment you shared with a book in your hand, you watched the gentle furrow that creased Wanda's brow as she read through her notebook, a reflection of the mental strain she carried. The lulls in the conversations grew longer, the pauses filled with unspoken worries and unexpressed thoughts. You tried your best to support her, being in her presence in some way at least to remind her that you were always there.
But eventually, with each passing day, your eyes became attuned to the nuances of Wanda's silence. You wondered if she even noticed when you scribbled something on that empty, bright orange sticky note on one of her textbooks, hoping she’d find it later.
You then asked her to take a break, even if it was just for a couple of minutes, maybe drink the tea you had made for her a while ago, sitting cold atop the desk now, but you’d always get the same answer. No. It was a short answer, but it was firm. She made no room for any other comments as she continued to bury herself in her work. You witnessed the flickering of determination in Wanda's gaze, the flickering flame that desperately refused to be extinguished by fatigue — which, in the end, didn’t work. And it was hard to ignore.
Your eyes scanned Wanda's fatigued expression, etched with the marks of endless studying and sleepless nights. A gentle concern flickered across your face as you recognized the toll it was taking on your girlfriend.
“Hey,” you stood from your seat, moving behind her chair to wrap your arms around her gently. “I really think you should take a break.”
“No,” she muttered quickly under her breath, her focus unwavering as she read through her textbook.
“Just for a little bit, babe?” You reluctantly continue, asking softly for some of her time with a smile. “We can watch that show you like… I miss you. And, we haven’t hung out in a while—“
“I can’t, (Y/n).”
She spoke quickly and firmly, ghosting her palm over your arms to move them away from her. Wanda stubbornly clung to her determination, her eyes reflecting a steadfast focus that could not be easily swayed. The weight of responsibilities and academic aspirations weighed heavily upon her, causing her to resist the idea of stepping away, even for a short respite.
“You’re exhausted,” you tell her as if it were obvious. “You haven’t taken a break at all, Wanda—“
“I said I can’t. What part of that don’t you understand?”
You take a step back and furrow your eyebrows at her, “I… I do understand… but it’s been weeks. You’ve been studying nonstop for weeks. A tiny break would be good for you, and we’d be able to spend time together a bit, and it’ll help you relax, too—“
Wanda snapped and abruptly stood from her seat, slamming her papers down onto the surface of her desk as she turned to look at you, “I don’t have time, (Y/n). Please. There’s so much material I have to cover and my exams are coming up in less than two weeks and I still have so many chapters to go through and I cannot fail them—If you just understood the pressure I’m under, you wouldn’t keep asking for my time. I don’t have time to relax. I can't afford any distractions!”
Your hopeful anticipation melted away as Wanda's words sliced through the air with unexpected force. Your eyes widened, a flicker of hurt and confusion dancing within their depths. The color drained from your cheeks, leaving behind a subtle pallor that betrayed your shock. Your lips trembled, longing to utter a response, yet finding themselves immobilized for a brief moment by the weight of Wanda's unexpected outburst.
“I-I know that,” you shook your head, trying desperately to blink the tears in your eyes away. “I know they’re important. I just wanted to be there for you and help take your mind off the stress for a little while.”
“It's not about you being there for me right now! What I need is to focus, and it feels like you're just adding more pressure. It’s not fucking helping,” Wanda rolls her eyes and turns her back towards you, eyes glossing over her work.
“Adding pressure? I'm not trying to burden you, Wanda,” you tell her. “I just want you to take a break.”
Wanda sighs, rubbing her temples, “And, all I want is some peace and quiet.”
Ultimately, she gets what she wants.
You left the room without another word, leaving her alone with the peace and quiet she asked for. Wanda listened as you quietly gathered your belongings, your footsteps carrying a weight of sadness as you moved toward the door. Wanda's heart sank as she watched your figure retreat, the room suddenly feeling emptier than ever. She clenched her fists, desperately attempting to focus on her studying, but the longing to go after you tugged at her with every passing second. The textbooks before her turned blurry as Wanda fought against the overwhelming urge to abandon her books and rush after you, to apologize, to hold you close, and to reassure you that you mattered more than any exam ever could.
But for now, Wanda buried her emotions and tried to bury herself in her studies, the silence in the room a painful reminder of the rift between the two of you.
An hour passed with Wanda immersed in her studies, her mind grappling with the complex concepts on the pages before her. However, as time trickled by, the weight of your absence became increasingly unbearable. Thoughts of the argument kept interjecting her focused thoughts, distracting her from the task at hand. Wanda's eyes wandered from the textbooks to the empty chair where you had sat, and her mind replayed their last conversation, each word etching itself into her consciousness. She wondered what you were up to right now. She figured you’d be trying to relax by reading a book or something or working on your own schoolwork on your laptop.
The weight of regret settled upon her shoulders, pressing down with each passing moment. The silence amplified the echoes of the argument, and the memory of her sharp words hung heavily in the air.
“Fuck,” Wanda whispered, dropping her head down against the desk as she thought of you.
The stillness in the air made Wanda long for your presence, for the warmth of your smile and the tenderness of your touch. Wanda's heart ached with the realization of how much she truly missed you, and how much she craved the comfort and connection you shared. As she gazed at her unfinished work, a sense of urgency washed over her, a desperate desire to complete the tasks at hand so that she could have the chance to make amends, to embrace you once more.
Eventually, Wanda closed her books, the decision to head to bed finally crystallizing within her. Though the material lay unfinished, the ache in her heart took precedence. With a heavy sigh, she set her study materials aside, her footsteps carrying her toward the bathroom to brush her teeth before heading into the bedroom you both shared. As she entered the room, her steps weighed down by the lingering remnants of the recent argument, a flicker of anticipation mingled with the uncertainty within her.
“(Y/n)?” Wanda called out softly, nudging the door open quietly with her fingers.
The room was dimly lit, casting a gentle glow that danced upon the walls. In the quiet stillness, her eyes gradually adjusted to the darkness, and she noticed a familiar shape nestled amidst the blankets. Drawing closer, her heart skipped a beat as she took in the sight of you, draped in Wanda's oversized, well-worn hoodie. Her heart softened as she stared, and the remnants of the argument faded away in the face of this cherished sight. A small smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she found the sight undeniably endearing. She absolutely loved it when you wore her clothes. It never failed to make her happy.
But as Wanda's gaze settled upon your sleeping face, her smile waned.
Her eyes traced the delicate contours of your face. The dim light of the lampshade by the bed cast a gentle glow upon the room, revealing tear stains glistening on your cheeks. Wanda's heart clenched at the sight, a mix of guilt and sorrow washing over her. Eventually, anger slowly swelled within her, directed solely at herself for the pain she had caused you. The tenderness of your sleeping form, coupled with the traces of tears, shattered any lingering defense mechanisms Wanda had built. The weight of regret bore heavily upon her chest, intensifying with each rise and fall of your breath. She hated it when you cry, more so if she was the reason behind it.
She quietly sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out to gently brush a strand of hair away from your face, her touch light and tender, as though she was afraid to disturb the fragile peace of your sleep. She lingered for a moment, taking in the sight of your slumbering form, silently vowing to mend the rift that had formed between the two of you. With a sigh of determination, Wanda leaned down, pressing a soft kiss against your forehead before going into the bathroom to get ready for sleep, then retreating to her own side of the bed, the weight of the night's events heavy on her conscience.
Wanda laid quietly on her back as she recalled what happened earlier, trying to repeat all the words you said along with hers. She didn’t mean to snap at you, and truthfully, she honestly should’ve listened during all of the countless times you told her to take a break. It would’ve eased her, relieve all that tension that was building up in her shoulders. But all of that bottled up stress came pouring out of her tonight, and you were the only one there to be on the receiving end of it.
After what felt like hours of staring at the ceiling, Wanda eventually moved closer to you, unable to fight the urge to reach out to you. Her arms circled around your stomach, drawing you in slowly and tenderly as she tucked her head comfortably in your hair, breathing you in. A soft sigh escaped Wanda's lips as she held you tightly. She could feel your rhythmic breathing, the rise and fall of your chest underneath her arms, and the tension that had plagued her since the argument gradually melted away. You felt so soft in her arms, and she wondered how she could even yell at someone who was just worried about her wellbeing.
Wanda closed her eyes, savoring the softness of your presence, the scent of your hair, and the gentle weight of your body against her own. Slowly, she let herself drift, falling asleep to the sound of your breath, snuggling so close to you.
A soft warmth spread through your being as you slept, the tension in your body gradually easing as you melted into Wanda's touch. Halfway through the night, you subconsciously slipped your hand into Wanda’s, the one that rested against your stomach, gently intertwining your fingers with hers.
Sleep was peaceful. Sometime during the night, you turned over to nestle your face in the crook of Wanda’s neck as she continued to hold you. Your breathing, gentle and steady, harmonized with Wanda's own as if they were creating a shared melody of forgiveness. Unwilling to let go, she held you close, her arms wrapped protectively around you until the sun came up.
You woke up first the next morning, as your classes started at a much earlier time than hers. In a way, you kind of didn’t want to start the day arguing with her, hoping to not annoy her as much as you did yesterday. And you still felt quite upset about what happened last night, so you felt that you should just get ready for the day quietly and deal with it later when your classes are out of the way — if Wanda wanted to deal with it later, that is.
You didn’t exactly know what to expect later when you see each other again when you get home. You thought about apologizing, for not leaving her alone when she asked you to, but you were stubborn and wanted her to take some time off away from all of that work for a while. Although, the weight of Wanda's harsh words still lingered in your mind. You then realized your own role in the escalating tension Wanda was carrying. You persisted, unwilling to give Wanda the space she had requested, and it had only fueled the flames of the fight.
Your college classes seemed to pass by in a blur, the minutes stretching out as your mind continually wandered back to thoughts of your girlfriend, wondering how she was doing in her own classes. The lectures that once held your attention became mere background noise as your thoughts were consumed by unresolved emotions.
Eventually, you stepped through the front door of your apartment, your weary footsteps echoing in the quiet space. The weight of a long day's worth of classes settled upon your shoulders, manifesting as a subtle slouch. You glanced around, expecting to find Wanda waiting for you, but the apartment was empty, devoid of the comforting presence you longed for. You immediately assumed she was at the library, and that she’d probably be home late sometime in the evening.
Weariness creased your brow as you removed your shoes, feeling the fatigue of the day seep through your bones. You didn’t have much work to do, school wise, but you wanted to do something anyway, to distract yourself somehow, so you ended up doing some of the dishes that you left in the sink from the night before. The argument put that chore on pause when you left the room last night.
As the warm water cascaded over your hands, you diligently scrubbed the dishes, finding solace in the simple act of cleaning. The clinking of porcelain against the sink temporarily distracted you from the lingering tension that hung in the air. Lost in your thoughts, you paused, your ears perking up as you heard the familiar creak of the front door opening. Your heart skipped a beat, curiosity mingled with trepidation as you rinsed your hands and stepped away from the sink.
You peeked your head out into the tiny hall that led up to the front door of your apartment, your eyes settling on the sight of your girlfriend who was kicking her shoes off, struggling slightly as she held onto a plastic bag with one hand. Wanda's movements held a mix of exhaustion and relief, her shoulders visibly relaxing as she shed the burdens of the day. The sight stirred a twinge of tenderness within you.
“Wanda?”
“Oh! Hey…” Your girlfriend whipped her head up at the sound of your voice.
For a moment, you turned your head away to look up at the clock, then back to Wanda, furrowing your eyebrows as you looked at her, “What are you doing here?”
“I-I’m home,” Wanda blurted out nervously, walking down the hall to make her way towards you—to greet you with a small kiss like she always does.
“Well, I can see that much,” you replied, voice hinted with a bit of sass as you stepped away and returned to the sink before she could get any closer. “I mean, what are you doing here so early? Shouldn’t you be at the library?”
The tiny smile on Wanda’s face faltered as she watched you back away from her, returning to the sink where you had left the dishes in. Her eyes dropped to the floor, sighing quietly in disappointment as she leaned against the wall. You were upset with her, understandably so, and she hated to live in the present with that fact.
“Uh, no, I… I was thinking of taking your advice. You know, taking that break, like you said,” Wanda fidgeted nervously as she spoke, trying to ease her anxiety by fiddling with the paper bag that was hanging by her fingers. “We can do movies tonight? Or something… Whatever you wanna do. And, I bought some food, too, from that place you like.”
You bit the inside of your cheek for a brief moment as you rinsed off the plate in your hand, still refusing to look at her, “I thought you didn’t have time for distractions.”
Wanda closed her eyes, remembering her words from the night before—words that had obviously hurt you. She walked up and set the paper bag of your favorite takeout on the kitchen table, wondering what she could do to make you look at her.
“No, (Y/n)… You’re not a distraction,” Wanda started, eyes settling on your back as you stood at the sink.
You paused after a moment before turning around to face her, crossing your arms, still guarded as you leaned against the kitchen counter. “That’s not what you said yesterday.”
“I know,” she replied, stepping forward as she ran her palms against her jeans nervously. “I’m sorry.”
“For what?” You shook your head slightly, showing her a look of confusion as you listened to her words.
Wanda carefully took slow steps to get closer to you as she spoke, “For what I said. For yelling at you. I’ve been so caught up with studying and everything and… I’ve been stressed and I took it out on you last night. I said things that I shouldn’t have said, and I’m so sorry.”
You listened intently, your features softening with each word. Despite your own lingering hurt, you felt a twinge of empathy stirring within you. You understood the weight of regret and the courage it took to confront one's mistakes, and Wanda was trying her best.
“I… I’m exhausted,” she continued, voice trembling with sincerity and regret. “And I miss you. I didn’t realize how much I missed you. I just wanted to hurry and finish everything in one go, so I could give you all of my attention. To focus on you… without worrying about anything else.”
A soft sigh escaped your lips, a mix of relief and longing. For a fleeting moment, you held back, allowing the gravity of the moment to linger, savoring the sweetness of Wanda's heartfelt apology.
“Come here,” you said.
Wand paused for a moment, those two words taking a little bit longer to process in her brain. She watched as you opened your arms, a gesture of acceptance and forgiveness. Wanda stared at your outstretched arms in awe, her breath catching in her throat.
Unable to resist any longer, in one swift motion, she rushed into your waiting arms. Her head dropped instinctively to rest upon your shoulder, finding comfort in the warmth and security that enveloped her. Wanda inhaled deeply, allowing herself to be consumed by your scent. The tension that had settled upon her shoulders, weighing her down with remorse and uncertainty, slowly left.
“I don’t think you’re a distraction, I promise.”
“It’s okay, Wanda. I know. I know you’re tired,” you tell her, soothing your hand over her hair as you felt her grip tighten around your waist. “But, you should really listen when I tell you to take a break. You’re overworking yourself too much and it won’t be good in the long run.”
“I’m sorry,” she mumbles into your shoulder, planting multiple kisses there against your skin as she held you tightly.
“I forgive you, Wanda,” you say, planting a gentle kiss on her temple before using your hands to cup her face to get her to look at you. “But, just so you know, if you ever yell at me like that again, you’re sleeping on the couch.”
Wanda nodded eagerly, determination shining in her eyes, “Yes ma’am.”
Wanda's features softened as she looked at you, feeling your hands still cupping her face gently, and a smile tugged at the corners of her lips, spreading across her face like sunlight breaking through a cloudy sky. Time seemed to stand still as your soft touch grazed Wanda's face, your gentle hands tenderly cradling her cheeks.
She felt your delicate touch on her face, a gentle caress that sent shivers down her spine. The soft pads of your fingers traced the contours of Wanda's cheeks, conveying a tenderness that reached depths untouched by words.
“So what are we watching tonight?” you asked, moving your hands from her face down to rest them on her shoulders.
Wanda's gaze flickered, almost instinctively, to your mouth, her eyes tracing the delicate curve of each syllable that escaped.
Shifting the hands that rested on your waist, Wanda felt herself leaning in closer towards you, her voice barely above a whisper, “Can I kiss you first?”
Your cheeks flushed a delicate shade of pink, your gaze shifting down, suddenly shy. You could feel Wanda's eyes fixed upon your lips, her gaze causing your heart to flutter. Sensing the intensity of Wanda's stare, your cheeks flushed, a shy smile tugging at the corners of your lips. You couldn't help but respond with a playful shake of your head. A mischievous glint danced in your eyes as you rolled them, a gentle tease to mask the tenderness she felt inside.
With a flicker of amusement, you leaned in closer, your voice laced with affectionate amusement, "Well, if you insist on asking, go ahead."
Wanda's smile grew, her heart swelling as she leaned into your touch. Her lips pressed against yours, sighing into them as her eyes fluttered closed. The touch of your lips against her own was pure bliss, a delicate mingling of warmth and softness that sent a wave of comfort and want coursing through Wanda's veins.
She missed this. She missed you. You tasted so good, and she missed kissing you. She began to think about how thoughtless she has been these past few weeks — how she could miss out on this and spend time with you instead of forcing herself to study.
After a while, your lips curved into a light smile against Wanda’s mouth, a soft giggle falling past your lips. You pulled away for a brief moment to catch your breath, but Wanda chased your lips, pressing hers against yours once again, moaning softly.
“Okay, okay,” you chuckled again when you pulled away once more, using your hands to keep her from coming closer.
“I want to keep kissing you, please,” Wanda said with a smile, grip tightening around your waist, pulling you impossibly closer.
You tilted your head slightly, meeting Wanda's eyes with a playful glimmer in your own.
“Ah, Wanda,” a mischievous smirk played on your lips as you wrapped your arms around her neck. “Hmm, I think it’s a little too early to be giving you rewards now, don’t you think?”
It was her turn for her cheeks flushed with shyness. Wanda's cheeks pinked, a shy smile tugging at the corners of her lips, breaking through any lingering tension. In that moment, a flicker of hope ignited, weaving through the darkness of the night before that had clouded your relationship.
In that lighthearted moment, the spark of your connection flickered back to life, and the room filled with the promise of forgiveness, growth, and love.

He had always known there was a great divide between the life of a human and a life like his—a dragon. His days seemed to be endless, yet, one of a human’s was so short lived. Was it pity that he felt? No, humans still managed to make the most of their short life. So what was this feeling that resides in his chest now?
It was almost suffocating, the thought consumed him for days, weeks, even. The concept of love, a novel idea made by humans—or so he thought. It was until he met you, which seemed like yesterday. It’s been a few years since the two of you met. It didn’t seem like a long time until she mentioned it almost a month ago.
“That’s right…a month. It’s been a month since my Lady Furina—” He immediately cut himself off before he could finish his own thought. These frivolous thoughts have been plaguing his mind for no good reason, he thinks.
He clenched his fist, unable to focus on the documents that lie neatly across his desk. You haven’t visited in a while. Though, nobody in their right mind would. It’s been pouring for the past two weeks, which is usually no surprise for most citizens of Fontaine, but this was different.
Archons above, this wasn’t just rain. It was practically a flood, to put it lightly. The trees were blown by harsh winds, the few functioning Aquabuses left delayed. There wasn’t a single soul in sight if one were to look out the window, if you could even see anything beyond the heavy rain.
It didn’t hit him until recently, but give him some time. He’s not good at these things. Love: a distant, alien concept to the unmovable, unbiased Iudex of Fontaine. And yet, there could be no other possible explanation for this—this feeling. He thought he was ill at first, yes, illness was the only possible answer. He went to every doctor in Fontaine and, no, not a single proper explanation. So he turned to his last resort—Furina.
“Dear Chief Justice, you can’t possibly be serious.” Is what she had said to him. “You’re in love!” And as stupid it sounded to him, it was the only logical explanation. His cheeks flushed when he saw you, his heart beating at abnormal rates whenever you say something cheesy to him…Yes, it was love.
Typically, humans would be flustered. They were in love? It isn’t to say that he wasn’t flustered at first, but then reality hit him. You’re a human. He’s…not.
It simply wasn’t meant to be. Humans are fragile—their lifeline only a tiny fraction of his. Even if you were to return his silly feelings, what then? What would come of a relationship? He doesn’t understand how he could possibly be a good lover, nor could he ever even be loveable at the least. What would become of him once you leave this world? The mere thought of you dying—leaving him—scares him. He lowers his head, gripping his pen harder, staring at the puddle of ink he left on the page.
“That’s right, there’s no use pondering this matter… I’m thinking ahead of myself.” Is what he thought.
Every single day, he reassured himself. If he was the only one that was affected because of his unrequited feelings, then that’s fine by him. He could bear it. So why does he still feel this crushing feeling on his soul—his very being? After all, there’s no chance you could even begin to love someone like him. Someone as awkward, unfeeling as him? There’s no possible way.
He couldn’t even begin to imagine how someone like you could ever—!
No, forget it. Self-deprecating thoughts aren’t any good for him.
“Don’t always think so low of yourself, yeah? It doesn’t do any good.” That’s something you told him. Something you told him.
***
Something you told him. Yet another month had passed, this time, things were drastically different.
Why did you have to make things so hard for him? You could have just kept it to yourself, like he had. So why? Why did you tell him how you felt?
It poured harder than ever before when he saw the look of complete and utter disappointment on your face when he said the words he did. He didn’t think he’d ever feel such despair, but he did.
“It’s okay.” You smiled, pursing your lips.
No, it wasn’t okay. How could any of this ever be okay? He didn’t understand anything, nothing at all.
After all, Neuvillette is far from being ‘human.’

A couple of years passed, two to be exact, and a lot of things happened. The bakery became more crowded. It was renovated and had a larger space instead of moving the entire bakery to another place. They began hiring extra help, usually part-time working students who used to be customers in the shop too.
Also, turns out that Jimin has a kid. Taehyung met Jihoon just a week after his best friend learned about his existence. Jihoon is a carbon copy of his dad, Taehyung thought. His eyes disappear when he smiles. Now, they have a little baker running around the kitchen usually on weekends.
Aside from those changes, Taehyung now lives in a studio apartment just a five-minute walk away from the bakery. He moved in just weeks after you left. The said apartment is not that big, just enough for him to rest in after work. Jimin commented that he treats that place like a hotel since Taehyung didn’t really personalize it to make the ambiance like a home. The whole place was plain, not even considered minimalist. Just plain. The walls were untouched. It was off-white when Taehyung came and it remains the same now. He didn’t really bother to invest anything in the place.
The house you two bought and lived in is still being taken care of. By him. Taehyung cleans up there once a week, just in case you reach out to visit home again and maybe talk about what to do with it. And when he feels like it, which is almost rare, he sleeps on the couch in the living room. He never really entered the guest room, which became your bedroom after the accident, except the time he got home after Jisoo and Namjoon’s wedding. That room was spotless, just like how you left it. The only things you left that night were on your vanity table; your house keys, the vintage pearl ring he bought you back in the flea market, and a folded paper.
The letter says, “Feel at home, this house is yours too. Paint the walls with the colors you like, buy new furniture, and fill the frames with new memories. Just please don’t sell it. I’ll try to reach out as soon as I can. For now, live the last years you missed.”
He never painted the walls with another color as he found the shade of blue that spreads around the house perfect. He never bought any furniture and still kept the same ones you had. He thought it fit the theme of the house and his preference. And yes, the picture frames show the same photos they originally had. It felt home that way for him. But he chose to move to the apartment because he always felt like he was missing something. The house is cozy and comfortable. But whenever he tries to lie on supposedly his bed, it feels empty. Once, he tried playing jazz music around the house, but it just got lonelier so he turned it off and just continued cleaning.
But he did try to keep up and look back at the things he forgot through his friends and the things he found at the house. Jimin, Namjoon, and sometimes Jisoo were patient with his questions. Jisoo, your best friend, was understandably distant from him at first after you went away. But she adds details to the stories Namjoon tells and later, became amiable with him. Jimin’s mom still looks after him and brings him food when she visits the city. There were a few times she mentioned Taehyung’s mother but he didn’t really care about her. So he ignores it.
“You know, you’re a handsome man. Don’t you have any lady?”
One of their common customer, a man in his seventies once asked him. It was not the first time someone asked him such a thing. He always shakes his head with a smile as an answer. It would lead later with an offer to meet someone they know. Taehyung would shyly and kindly decline these offers, saying he really doesn’t feel like dating for now. It’s true. The idea of him dating someone else felt wrong. It was like his own body rejected the idea as he felt uneasy with that thought.
Tumblr media
“So, it’s that time of the year.”
Taehyung was pulling his third pan of cheesecake out of the hot oven with his oven gloves when he heard Ava, their longtime part-time staff, say that. She sounded amused but not surprised. He looked up and saw her leaning on the door frame with her arms crossed. She had a smug smile on her face.
“I swear, you should just declare this particular day as Cheesecake and Banana Bread Day just to make it official,” she added, teasing.
Taehyung looked at her, unimpressed, “It’s selling. In fact, my cheesecakes are one of our best sellers here… What are you doing here anyway? Go back to the front.”
He scolds her, she just rolled her eyes, unbothered.  Ava was one of the students who knew Taehyung even before his accident. She went from being a loyal customer to a reliable staff of the shop. She has been enjoying the pastries in the shop ever since she was twelve and now, sixteen, she also enjoys getting into small banters with her older bosses. She is usually candid, and not shy to share her thoughts. Taehyung sees her as a little sister most time.
Given that she began working here after you left, Ava doesn’t really have an idea why Taehyung bakes a few batches of cheesecake and banana loaves on this specific date. She doesn’t know you and that you are celebrating your birthday today. Taehyung learned about that fact after his phone notified him weeks after you went. Since then, he has baked your favorites on your special day.
It’s the third time now. It’s probably a slim chance but he hoped to see you around the bakeshop, enjoying pastries. But so far, he hasn’t seen you around. In fact, he hadn’t even heard from you ever since that night. He thought he saw you a year ago in the subway when he came to Incheon to go sightseeing, but he lost you before he could take a second glance. He didn’t know where you moved since he respects your space but he wondered if you really moved that far. He wonders about you every now and then.
Jisoo posted a short clip in her Instagram Stories months ago. It’s just a clip of a long trail and he swore he heard you in the background noise of that clip, telling your best friend how tired you are from hiking. Then, the clip ended.
“Not because it’s best selling you would make a ton of it. It’s something about demand and supply– I don’t know,” she conceded, breaking Taehyung’s train of thought. “Anyway, I’m here because someone called on the phone, asking for you.”
Taehyung’s heart stopped for a second. His hopes almost blasted out of his soul but he tried to stay calm before asking Ava, “Who is it?”
“I don’t know. But it’s a woman. They said they want to specifically talk to you.” she replied, unaware that the man in front of him was holding his breath. She continued, “They are actually waiting on call right now.”
Taehyung almost sprinted to the front desk of the shop. Still in his mint green oven gloves, he reached for the telephone. His heart is beating fast while his gut is twisting tight. He paused when he realized he had nothing to say. He doesn’t know what to say if it’s you. Are you going to talk about the house? Should he greet you with Happy Birthday first and offer you your favorite cheesecake? Maybe you won’t like– Stop.
Taehyung took a deep breath before exhaling. He spoke, “Hello, this is Kim Taehyung, co-owner of The Sweet Spot. How can I help you?”
“Oh, hi.”
His heart dropped. Okay, relax. He told himself. It’s not you.
Tumblr media
There were nights when Taehyung would find himself awake. And tonight is one of those nights. He just lay on his bed, staring at the blank ceiling. He always had trouble falling asleep, maybe a side effect of his accident. He doesn’t know anymore. But he knows that it makes his head go crazy with random thoughts when times like this happen. And now, he thought of something.
That’s when he picked up his phone and keys, along with his coat. He drove away from his apartment.
The bell above the door rang when he entered the convenience store to pick up a few beers and chips. His cold hands stayed in his coat’s pockets as he looked around the store, waiting for the clerk to scan his stuff. Just when the worker was about to say the prince, the bell clung again.
“No, wait. I’m just really hungry. Wait for me… Yes, I have money here.”
Everything went quiet and suddenly all that he could hear was that voice. Your voice. He’s sure of that. He looked back and saw a woman’s back going into one of the aisles. His heart raced once again. You’re here?
“Dude, you okay?” the tired clerk asked, looking at him with heavy bags under his eyes.
Taehyung looked at him, and broke out of his headspace, “Yeah, yeah. I’m sorry.”
He pulled out his cash and paid. He can still hear your voice like you were talking with someone on your phone.
“Do you want anything– Oh, the honey-butter chips I want ran out of stock.”
Taehyung looked at the chips in his hand. He looked at the clerk who also looked at him like they understood each other without saying anything. Taehyung placed the chip back on the counter.
“Just give this to the girl,” he whispered before turning his back.
He didn’t look back. A cool blow of wind brushed on his face when he walked out the door. For a second, he inhaled and exhaled again to calm his nerves. He got in his car, putting the pack of beer on the other seat. As he started the car, his eyes landed on the side mirror.
Yes, it’s you. Definitely.
You just walked out of the same store, still on your phone, as you walked away grinning with your honey butter chips. You walked on the other end of the pathwalk. Taehyung pursed his lips and drove away.
His lips remained sealed but his head was exploding with questions. That was the closest he had seen you since the night you said goodbye. How are you? Why are you in the city? Did you live around here? It can’t be. Jisoo told him you left the hospital you used to work at.
Instead of driving back to his apartment, Taehyung ended up parking in front of your deserted house. He had his beer with him as he turned the key on the doorknob. He stepped into the said home feeling colder even though he still hadn’t removed his coat.  He placed the drink on the center table in the living room and plugged in the TV for background noise. He put on a random show, which happens to be FRIENDS.
Opening a can, he sat on the couch, pulling a couple of books he left under the same table. Photo albums and scrapbooks. You never told him such things exist in here, he just found them after cleaning around the house. It was personalized by you and him. He could tell by the design and handwritten captions.
Almost everything was documented through photos and other knick knacks like receipts from a movie you two saw together. Browsing through the pages of it, it felt like looking at other people’s relationships even though he was in the photos himself. In one of the photos, he saw himself with a camera. He didn’t even know he had one. He tried searching around the house for it but he never found it.
You had more solo portraits in the said books than him. He figured out why. Maybe he really loved capturing you as his subject. You looked the same in every picture: happy and in love. Most of your pictures were candid, taken without you knowing. Then, a handwritten date by him will be seen below it. Each photo was adorable. Some are just random ones. You were brushing your teeth or showing off your colorful scrubs (which was written in the caption: BOUGHT HER YELLOW DUCKIES SCRUBS I THINK SHE LIKES IT).
Taehyung spend his sleepless nights like this, looking back at what he missed. He read through articles before that the possibility of getting his memories back is a hit or miss. So he learned to just go on and maybe accept how things became. He tries to move forward at the same time he tries to look back. It’s quite confusing sometimes.
IT’S HER… I’M SURE
That was the caption in one photo of you dating just weeks after you two moved into this house. In the picture, your back was turned as you sat in front of your vanity table. You can be seen fixing your hair while looking at your reflection. Taehyung’s eyebrow raised with the caption. He wondered what it meant. He turned the page to the next one but was greeted with nothing but a blank page. Turns out, that was the most recent one.
Tumblr media
“The main branch of their restaurant is somewhere in Incheon. I’ll send you the address after the call.”
Taehyung listened to Jimin through a loudspeaker call. His hair is still damp from a shower. Standing in front of the mirror, he compares two coats that would suit the rest of his outfit. He felt the need to look presentable tonight.
“You will meet the owner herself, Ashley. She said you can just introduce yourself to the host and he’ll lead you to your table… Ava kept the samples in the shop. She said she put them in different Tupperware so you can spot it right away.” Jimin instructed.
“Okay, okay.”
He heard his best friend sigh on the other line, “I’m sorry for the short notice, Tae. I totally forgot Jihoon will be staying with me tonight.”
Tonight, Taehyung will be meeting a special client. It’s the one who called a couple of weeks ago, during your birthday. it‘s a big restaurant that is planning to put the bakeshop’s products on their menu for dessert. Specifically, the cakes. The head chef was the one who brought up their product to the owner, whom he will meet now. Jimin initially agreed to meet the said client but his co-parenting schedule had some shifts. Just an hour ago, Taehyung learned he’d be the one meeting the client. It’s not like he had plans anyway. So, he immediately prepared himself.
After picking the clothes, Taehyung blow-dried and brushed his hair. His best friend sent the main address minutes later and so he left his apartment. He first drove by the shop, which closed a little earlier today. A lot of cakes were made for sample. It includes Jimin’s Carrot Cake, his own cheesecake, and six other more. Taehyung left with a brown bag of the samples.
His fingers tapped with the beat of the song playing on the radio as he drove his way to the restaurant. It was a peaceful night on the road.
This will be the first time Taehyung will be going back to Incheon since that time he went sightseeing. He stayed there for just three days before, it was days after his phone notified him about your supposedly fifth anniversary. His emotions were all over the place because of the aftermath and the demanding work in the bakeshop around that time. So he asked Jimin for a very short break. He still hasn’t got a car then so he took the subway throughout the whole time. It was during his last day there when he saw a glimpse of you in the crowded subways of that city. He remembered you were in your scrubs, your hair was cleanly kept in a low bun, and you were walking opposite of his direction. Then, he blinked. You were gone in the crowded place.
“Good evening, sir.”
Almost forty minutes later, Taehyung arrived at the restaurant, Starry Night. He was greeted by the host as he entered the elegant place. It has a great ambiance, romantic. It is a fine-dining restaurant and seems like a perfect spot for dinner dates.
He said his name when he was asked.  And while the man looked down at his guest list, Taehyung’s eyes traveled around the place. And not even a minute in, his eyes stopped at someone who he felt had been staring at him.
His eyes widened at the sight. A stunning woman, clad in a black dress, stares back at him with surprise. His mouth ran dry, he had to gulp. Now, he’s sure. He’s sure.
It’s you.

⌗ ROMANTICISM ₊ ˖ ་. rin itoshi x fem reader (4k)
Tumblr media
⊹ ⠀⠀ there are so many words he wishes he could take back, and he realizes now that he loves you. he loves your colorful laugh, beauty, and passion - all he needs now, is to tell you...and say those three little words. (part two of rationalism - must must read first!!!)
contains; colorblind!rin, painter!reader, rin’s mom is reader’s art mentor, rin hates art, strangers to friends to lovers, swearing, immense fluff, , kissing, extremely inaccurate depictions of colorblindness, happy ending!!! author's note; this was originally supposed to end with reader getting into a car accident and d-wording the day of her art gallery...but i changed my mind :D
Tumblr media
He misses you. He can’t help it, but he does.
The memories he has with you are a cassette tape on autoplay - constantly running through his mind on repeat, and always ending with the awful confrontation that you’d left each other with. Rin wishes he hadn’t raised his voice. He wishes that he would’ve been honest with you from the very beginning, but he hadn’t, and there’s no changing the past. All he has now are two empty hands that would much rather be interlaced with your paint-covered fingers.
“How much longer do you think you’re going to be moping?” Sae’s call is distant from the turning gears within Rin’s brain. He’s sure that his brother has grown tired of his constant state of melancholy - having been forced to be his support system after you walked out the door - and Rin feels awful about it. If he could, he’d rip his heart from his chest and allow you to step on it. To stomp and tear through the organs just as you’d done to those poor bystanding cherry blossoms on the sidewalk.
“As long as she’s still upset with me.” He groans as his forehead hits the marble of the island counter. “I’m such an idiot.”
“Yeah, well we already knew that.” The dim-eyed boy beside him scoffs while taking yet another drink of his apple juice - which he has unfortunately had to drink for the past hour and a half since Rin had somehow consumed his small supply of alcohol within the past few weeks that the two of you hadn’t been speaking. “I was really rooting for you, man. I thought she was the one to break your cycle.”
“Cycle?”
What the hell does he mean by ‘cycle’?
“Oh, you know,” Sae continues without even taking a breath, “The cycle of life you’ve got going on with your inability to actually attract girls.”
Rin hates him.
“You’re an asshole.” He grumbles, taking his own swig of the pint of orange juice he found in the back of his fridge. Is it expired? Likely yes. Does Rin care, at all? Definitely not. Is he even more pissed off that he doesn’t understand the irony of why it’s called orange juice? He doesn’t want to answer that question. “An unhelpful asshole who should definitely stay over and cook dinner for me since he wants to make up for being said ‘unhelpful asshole’.”
Sae scoffs, shaking his head whilst the thin, soft strands of his hair flit back and forth. His right eyebrow raises in a mocking expression, “You need to get yourself back out there, man. You’ll be old and grey if you keep waiting for the perfect girl to come knocking on your door, so just talk to her. Just fucking talk to her and put me out of my misery.”
“Are you trying to make this about you, right now?” Rin stares at his best friend in utter disbelief, but he’s not truly upset. He knows that Sae holds good wishes for him in all manners of life - this being no exception - and takes his words to heart. He’s right. Of course, he’s going to lose you if he doesn’t even try to get you back. “The sun must be falling out of the sky because I’m actually considering following your advice.”
“That’s a pretty picture to imagine,” his older brother chuckles, causing Rin to roll his eyes. What’s the sensation that everyone has with mentioning imagery every five seconds? “Just talk to her, man.” Sae continues, “Please, I’m all out of advice.”
Rin takes his brother’s pleas to heart. It is quite ridiculous that he’s spending his time depressed and lonesome when he could be reconciling with you. Perhaps it’s his fragile masculinity acting out and refusing to take blame for the situation, although he’s fully aware it’s completely his fault that you’re upset with him.
It’s difficult for the gears to begin turning in Rin’s head. They’re covered in brittle rust that’s been creeping deep into the crevices of his mind for his entire life - slithering down his spine towards his blackened heart that you had only just begun to breathe life into. He misses the feeling of spring that came when you called. The freshwater rain of your laughter and budding blossoms of your smile that washed away his loneliness and replaced the awful emotion with an overgrown garden of bliss. He still doesn’t understand how he managed to mow that garden down with one sentence. He might as well have taken a chainsaw and brutally hacked into every connection that he’d managed to make with you in your time of knowing each other.
Now he’s going to be on his knees begging for forgiveness with his hands stained by the minced grass. Does grass stain green or yellow? Hopefully not brown, dear lord. He’ll be buried deep into apologies that should definitely be rehearsed, but he knows he’s not an artist with words and he won’t bother to waste your time with crumpled-up ‘I’m sorry’ notes and improvised tears.
You deserve nothing but the best - so much more than he’s been giving you and he needs you to hear those words come straight from his mouth.
When did you begin to mean so much to him? Rin doesn’t even know.
It could’ve been when you showed up to his game unannounced, with first row seats and a booming cheer that he never knew he desired. ‘C’mon number ten! I know you can do better than that! Beat their asses, Rin!’ He nearly tripped at the sound of your voice, and falling on his face was the last thing he wanted to do in front of Isagi - but to be completely honest, he doesn’t remember much of his qualms with his rival from that day. Rin was solely focused on playing well for you. The world stopped and he was given all the time needed to impress you. You give him a reason to be better, a selfless reason to do good.
Perhaps it was when you’d shown him around your homey apartment, with maple art easels and splattered canvases lining the walls, and watched with glee as he made his best attempt at a finger painting (which may or may not have ended up looking like two worms kissing). ‘It’s abstract’, you’d say every time he found something new that was wrong with the art piece, ‘All it needs is a home. See?’ You hung his shitty little sketchbook paper on your living room wall, right next to your TV for the whole world to see. The way you stood there staring in awe still rattles his brain. You’ve always been able to find beauty in even the smallest things.
Or maybe his heart had begun to beat a little faster that Saturday night on the way out of the theater. The romance of the film the two of you just witnessed was still on Rin’s mind, provoking his alcohol-induced body to make a pathetic attempt at holding your hand - which resulted in him accidentally knocking you over into a street puddle that swallowed the heel of your shoe. ‘I needed to take a shower anyway, Rin, it’s fine!’ Your smile continued to be bright despite the low temperature and sprinkling rain, and he can recall wondering how you managed to stay so positive in such a dreary situation. As you discarded your soggy heels into a nearby trashcan and skipped barefoot on the pavement, you called, ‘Come on! Dance with me!’ The shared laughter between the two of you echoed through the seemingly empty streets that surrounded you - hands connected as you swung in circles around each other and fell over one too many times, until he carried your sleeping body home. He doesn’t think anyone’s ever been able to make him laugh as hard.
The way the corners of your eyes crinkle amidst fits of giggles is his favorite image to replay. He doesn’t need to know the color to be able to see how beautiful they are - to appreciate the blinding sparkle that overwhelms your irises when he accidentally trips over the uneven sidewalk or knocks over your painting station - or even when he unintentionally makes a sexual innuendo that you just so happen to pick up on. ‘That’s a love hotel, Rin! Why would I have stayed there before?’ It was almost as if you were conducting a symphony of glorious laughter that night. The violins played the tune of your voice in a higher octave and the cellos added a punch everytime you’d bite your lip in an attempt to calm down. He hadn’t known what a love hotel was intended for before that night, but he’d also made the mistake to say, ‘I wouldn’t mind going to my first one with you, it could be a first for both of us.’ and you still haven’t let him live it down. Rin’s honest with himself for the most part. He’s awkward, insufferable, and a bore to be around - yet, for some odd and unknown reason, those are your favorite things about him. Why?
Why is it that he can’t function like a normal person when your eyes meet his?
Why do his words rearrange themselves and become complete gibberish when he attempts to woo you with his charm?
What is it that keeps him coming back to you, despite holding such deep hatred for the things that you love most?
“I need to text her.” Rin feels his chest vibrate as he finally makes a decision, the words pouring from his mouth in a short word vomit - forcing Sae to piece together the jumbled mess and attempt to comprehend whatever it was that his big brother was trying to say, to which he jumps up from his seat at the island and aggressively pats Rin on the back.
“That’s what I’ve been saying, dumbass! Get those fingers movin’!”
His phone falls into his hands in a millisecond, with Sae eagerly awaiting to hear his poetry. He’s grateful to have such a supportive friend. Rin knows that there aren’t many people who would be willing to put up with him for so long - having been moping around and complaining day-and-night of relationship problems that were solely caused by him - and he can’t imagine not having his support. Hopefully he’ll be able to introduce you, one day. You’ll both give him so much shit for his attitude. Oh well. It’ll all be worth it having two people he loves get along.
Did he just…
What did—
There’s no way.
Did he really just use that word? That godforsaken word?
He’s trembling. Rin’s phone is shaking in his hands as he finally comes to the realization that he does, with his entire heart and being, love you. In an instant, his entire world scrambles together with rapid dashes and line art that he can’t even comprehend. There’s no rules to follow with these types of feelings - this insistent need to see you. Hold you. Kiss you.
Fuck, he wants to kiss you. He can’t think of anything else he’d rather be doing.
Like tapping raindrops that never cease their fall, his fingertips move against the keypad in a rhythmic motion - singing a song of love that can’t be contained into a simple lullaby. His heart pours out into the message, apology after apology being pasted in paragraphs, and hopes with his whole soul that you’ll find it in yourself to at least see him in person. There’s no way you won’t. Rin knows you well enough now that he’s certain he’ll be seeing you again. All he needed to do was take the first step towards forgiveness, and he’s finally willing to be vulnerable and own up to his inability to be honest about his feelings, because he loves you. He loves you and he wants to tell you a hundred times, a thousand times, and a million times until you beg him to shut the hell up and kiss you.
‘I’ll be at the studio tonight. I miss you, ______, and I’m sorry.’
He ends the message with a final apology, begging fate that you’ll read it in time to meet him while he still has courage - and with that, he’s on his way to the place he hates most, awaiting the person whom he loves most.
Tumblr media
An hour has passed - well technically it’s been fifty-seven minutes, but who’s counting?
He’s counting.
The sun went into hiding ages ago and the moon now stalks him as he sits in his chair, lonely with two vacant eyes that wish they were gazing at yours. Rin can’t even tell if you’ve read the text or not - the grey speech bubbles look the same as they always have, and the delivered sign is posted at the bottom with no response. He wants to send a follow-up message, just a little ‘hey, you there?’ but he knows that’s a little bit much. If you want to see him, you’ll see him and he’ll confess his feelings once-and-for-all - though, he’s feeling much less confident than he was an hour ago. Ahem, sorry. Fifty-nine minutes ago.
Rin has a plan of what he’s going to say to you, and hopefully it makes sense when the words begin to fall from his lips. He’s said it many times before, but he’ll say it again, he’s never been good with words or feelings or anything of the sort. He wants to get better, though - to become more emotionally aware for your sake, because he knows that’s a priority for you. You have an image of your dream guy that’s been in your wishes since primary school - tall, handsome, daring, dashing, yada, yada, yada - and he’s trying to be that guy. He needs to be that guy. He’ll be anything for you.
Anything and everything…even the desperate guy who can’t get a text back.
Y’know, for a moment - a brief and fleeting moment - the world seemed a little more beautiful in his self-realization of love. The stars glistened brighter and the street lights sparkled in their reflections. Before tonight, Rin hasn’t ever been able to appreciate the natural beauty of what surrounded him. He never understood your fascination with replicating real life into paintings and sketches, but he seems to have digested the concept - at least a little bit. The only thing that could undoubtedly make his world more dazzling would be the sight of you, and holy shit there you are. There you are opening the front door - and your gorgeous, perfect reflection in the glass is looking straight at him.
He doesn’t need the ability to see color to know that you’re the most fascinating and jaw-dropping sight in the entire universe - and that the rainbow should be rearranged in the letters of your name in honor of your ability to captivate attention and inflict a multitude of emotions on him that he’s never felt before.
“Rin?” Your melodious voice is the remedy that his ears have been yearning for. “Rin, is that you? Why’re you in the dark?”
This means you haven’t read his text, right? Otherwise, why would you be confused as to why he’s here? Wait, why’re you even here?
You begin to explain yourself without him needing to ask, “I left my phone in here earlier like an idiot and I’ve been looking for it all day. Isn’t that so dumb?” You let out a little laugh, amused at your inability to keep track of your personal belongings. Why aren’t you acting like you’re upset with him? The last time you talked, you could barely look him in the eye - yet now, you’re so casual, almost as if nothing happened. “Here I am looking for my lost phone, but instead I find a lost Rin Itoshi.”
“What are you doing here? Sitting in the dark?”
The repeated question is met with a pregnant silence as Rin fails to piece together the rehearsed words he had come up with earlier, settling on a bear hug that nearly suffocates you.
He’s so overwhelmed by the feeling of touching you again that he barely notices how stiff your posture is. You’re practically a piece of rock in the midst of being carved by its maker, frozen and unable to formulate an action in response - which, in this case, means that he’s your artist. Rin relaxes his hold, urging you to reciprocate his warmth by nestling his face in your neck. Your right arm finds its place wrapped around his waist and your left around his neck, allowing him to engulf you further into his hold. You smell so nice. He notices the lavender perfume that he bought you is still rubbed into your skin, and he’s glad that you’re finally using it.
“I’m so sorry,” he whispers.
Rin’s fingers run through your hair in smooth waves, gently kneading out the small knots and helping you relax - and he can tell that your full attention is on him. For the first time in knowing you, there aren’t any distractions or excuses to avoid this conversation. It’s just you, him, and the bare truth. He just hopes he can execute this right.
“There aren’t enough words to explain how sorry I am, genuinely. I shouldn’t have ever belittled you like that, ______.” He takes a deep breath, one of many, and closes his eyes. The scene of you stomping away from him has no end in his mind. It constantly plays at every hour of the day, re-run after re-run, to torment him and remind him how horribly he screwed up with you. Please, please forgive him. “You’re not just my mom’s student. You’re not just a friend that I get coffee with. You’re so much more than that and I’ve been such a fucking chicken and haven’t been able to be honest with you.”
“You couldn’t have possibly known about my condition and it was wrong of me to take my frustration out on you.” Rin can feel himself begin to cry, his tears raining down his cheeks in cascades of pent up anger and hatred for how he made you feel that day. You didn’t deserve it. You didn’t deserve to be treated like shit by him. “Your work is important to you and I know it should be appreciated. What’s important to you is important to me, okay?”
“You love your art, and I love you.”
He says it over and over again. Those three special words rapidly become six words, nine words, eighteen, forty-two, and onwards as you look at him with an empty expression. Please, please say something. For every second of no response, he confesses his love to you. He confesses as if it’s his source of air - the only way that he’ll be able to survive this encounter is if he bares his emotions with no regrets. If this were a movie, he’d be the desperate protagonist in the climax of the story who fucked up his love life and is begging for a second chance - hell, this is real life and that’s exactly what he’s doing. Just, please, have a happy ending.
You open your mouth, yet nothing comes out. No words. No statements. No confessions. You’re simply staring at him like he’s just told you the most absurd news in the existence of the universe…
…and then a tear falls.
One tear slips from your eyes, followed by another, and another…until your face is drenched in salty rain with black mascara creasing your eyes. You look like a raccoon. Rin almost starts laughing. No. He is laughing; laughing because your false lashes have fallen into your hands as the glue refused to be waterproof - and now you’re standing before him in a puddled mess of makeup and disheveled hair. You’ve never looked more beautiful.
Rin brushes his fingers across your cheek, attempting to wipe away your tears like an artist covering up a beautiful mistake. If he were a painter, he’d paint you a million times and more - hanging every portrait on every single wall of his apartment, until there was literally no space left for a scrap of paper. You’re the most gorgeous girl he’s ever laid his eyes on, and the smile that suddenly bursts from your sobs confirms it.
“What’s going on? I’m so confused, are you happy or are you sad?” He’s so concerned and his inability to read emotions correctly only makes him more helpless. “Talk to me, beautiful. C’mon.”
You lean into his touch and he instantly knows that everything is going to be okay.
“I just never thought I’d hear you say that.” Your smile is directed at him now, and he feels a warmth that is so familiar yet unfamiliar and he can’t get enough of it. It’s similar to the feeling of being showered in sunlight or snuggling beneath a comforter in the winter - an overwhelming comfort that’s a gift from you to him. “I feel like I’ve been waiting forever. Fuck you for that.”
Now you’re both laughing, giggling, and beaming at each other. His heart feels so at peace. The civil war between his divided emotions, love and loneliness, has finally ceased.
“I love you.”
“I love you.”
“I love you.”
Neither of you can stop the flow of confessions that slip from your tongues and in an instant your lips are on his - clashing and colliding in a furious kiss that rivals the strength of a hurricane. It’s almost as if he can physically feel your love pouring into him and warming his heart into a heated flame, stoked by the embers of your touch. God, he missed your touch. The feeling of it is addicting. It’s his personal heroin and he’ll never get enough of it.
Your lips are just as soft as he imagined them to be, perhaps they're a rosy pink color with the slightest touch of strawberry lip balm that he keeps getting a fleeting hint of taste from. Never in his wildest dreams did he think you’d love him too. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. He silently repeats over and over - grateful that he’s been so blessed to know you…feel you…and love you in the awful world that he hated living on his own  - the world void of color that you’ve somehow brightened by simply breathing beside him.
His hands are everywhere. Your hips. Your waist. Your breasts. Your neck. He can’t get enough of the feeling of you. With every passing second he’s falling deeper and deeper in love. You’re utterly perfect, he would kiss you for years if that was an option—
Aw shit, he knocked over an easel.
“Goddammit,” he mumbles while briefly pulling away from you. Of course he had to interrupt the moment he’s been waiting months for with his clumsiness. He’s such a dumbass. If he could punch himself in the gut, he would - but that would be way too embarrassing in front of you - hold up, this painting is familiar!
“Well I'll be damned.” He chuckles and turns the canvas towards you, to which you burst out laughing. “I thought you’d have thrown this out.”
“No,” you gaze at the painting with love in your eyes. “I could never, that’s how we met.”
The painted streak he accidentally inflicted upon your artwork remains in the same position. It seems that you never even bothered covering it up and embraced the imperfection. While Rin cannot decipher the magnitude of colors on the canvas, he’s sure that the various strokes look gorgeous and masterful. You’ve always been so talented. He’s so lucky.
As he places the painting upon a now-standing easel, you rest your forehead against his. He loves you. He loves you so much. So much so that he can’t help but take a step closer, not just one but many, and embrace the overwhelming love and passion he holds for you. There are so many words he wants to say, confessions that can carry on for an infinite number of lines, but there’s no need for that now. You have forever - and he decides to start that forever with his favorite thing…
…a kiss.
“I love you.” You whisper.
“I love you more.” He replies.

you're so quick with these asks omg it's so admirable!! i was wondering if i could get a klaus x reader where reader is extremely sensitive and klaus yells at them one day and they go off crying and klaus feels terrible and does everything he can to make it up to them?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Forgive me?
Klaus was having an awful day. Witches had been attacking the Mikaelsons all week and he ended up being abducted and tortured before killing each and every last witch.
He stormed up the stairs past my room, i could see him covered in blood, clearly still in some sort of pain so i went to help. I opened his door and slowly approached him as he sat with his head in his hands
“hey, you okay?” i asked softly reaching out to touch his arm
“just go away y/n.” he replied gruffly
“you’re still hurt, i can i help-“
“i said go away!” he spoke a little louder his hands gripping my arms to the point where it began to hurt
“Klaus i’m just trying to hel-“
“I DON’T WANT YOUR HELP! so get out.” his face was centimetres away from mine, his eyes gold and veins beneath them, i could feel the tears welling in my eyes and i glanced down at where he was still grabbing me. He did too and noticed the red marks on my skin, he instantly let go and looked back at me. I quickly left the room and went back to my own locking the door behind me and curling into my bed.
i tried to sniff back the tears as i rubbed my arms down and hugged myself to try fall asleep. I could hear Klaus smashing things a few doors down but decided it was best to stay out his way.
i avoided him from that day afraid to push him off the edge with his temper. It was rare that he would show his temper when i was around, he knew it upset me so i normally stayed out the way.
it had been nearly a week, i spoke to him a little when he made small talk or i was talking to Rebekah and he joined the conversation. He didn’t seem particularly bothered that we weren’t talking which just made me feel worse, would he notice if i didn’t acknowledge him altogether?
So i didn’t for a week and a half before he said anything
“is this still about that night? honestly y/n don’t you think it’s getting a little pathetic? i’m over it already, you should be to” his eyes rolled and his arms were crossed as though he were a moody child. I decided against saying anything and simply walked back upstairs. i heard him sigh before his footsteps became distant
The next morning there was a box outside my bedroom door, i took it and opened it on my bed, inside was a necklace, it was clearly expensive, never even touched i reluctantly and felt how heavy it was further proving its worth. I sighed and put the lid back on the box and walked down to Klaus’s room, i put it by his door and went out for the day.
As soon as i got in i could feel his presence, his eyes were on me as i entered my room to find it filled with flowers, bouquets of roses, peonies tulips and growing sunflowers by the window. I felt the air rush beside me and two hands were on my shoulders
“do you like it?” he asked, the hope in his voice made me wanna hug him but he didn’t understand that although it’s an excellent surprise or present, but it’s not an apology
“it’s lovely Klaus but…i don’t want your gifts or your money” his warmth left me and he took a step back
“what do you want then!? A bloody parade??” his tone was harsh and demanding making my eyes drop to the floor
“i didn’t mean to say it like that” he whispered trying to catch my eye but u just walked into the plant infested room
This continued for a few days before eventually i woke up without an ‘apology gift’. I went about my day and everything was normal until i got back to the compound
there were fairy lights everywhere and i could smell something cooking, i put my bag down quietly and wondered to the dining room, the table was set for two places and soft jazz music in the background
i walked a little further to the kitchen to see Klaus dishing up whatever he had made. i leaned against the doorframe and watched the domestic scene play out, his body swaying a little to the music while he rushed about to find which bottle of wine he wanted. Once he had position the plates on one of his arms and the wine glasses in another and the bottle nearly slipping as he tried to hold it against himself, he looked up to see me fighting a laugh
“how long have you been there” he said as a blush crawled up his neck
“not long why? afraid i’d see you dancing?” he gave a nervous laugh and walked towards the next room, i move out his way as he put everything down where it needed to be
“planning a date?” i asked with a tilt of my head, a small pang of jealousy hit me as i swallowed it down
“um..kind of…no?…it’s an apology dinner..date…thing…” i smiled a little as i watched him play with his hands
“an apology?” i asked and he nodded pulling my seat out which i took with a ‘thank you’. He sat in his chair and picked up his fork, we both got halfway through our meals before he said anything
“i’m sorry” he spoke quietly and took a sip of his drink to avoid eye contact
“for?”
“yelling…and…and grabbing you. And then being or talking aggressively”
“and trying to buy my forgiveness?”
“well that actually seemed like a good idea at the time but i suppose i’m sorry for that too”
we looked at each other for a minute before i broke into a smile and took another bite of my food
“i forgive you but only because you look cute in your apron” he looked down and noticed he was still wearing it. His hands rubbed his face as he laughed
“bloody hell” he groaned and i laughed
“i’m serious you look adorable i mean just A-dor-a-ble”

Our First Date - Ruben Dias
Tumblr media
Summary: you make a new friend on vacation and spend the best evening of your life together
I’m pretty sure I’m the target audience for this😹
She burst out of the restaurant into the cool night, pushing past someone, not caring to apologize.
“Fuck!” She shouted into the street. “All I want is 24 hours of peace! Don’t I deserve that!” Frustration threatened to spill as her vision clouded with tears.
She didn’t take as many vacations as she would like but that meant she could accumulate them and take them all at once. Which is what she planned doing for summer this year. A 2 week long break away from the four walls of her office building.
That is, if her co workers would respect it.
“Damn, and I thought I was having a bad weekend.” She jumped at the sudden intrusion of the stranger’s cool voice, it was the same person she’d bumped into on her way out. She wasn’t short but I had to look up at him, really look.
Dark hair, brown eyes and sporting a beard, he was handsome. He wore a white dress shirt folded at the sleeves and cargo pants and if she tilted her head a little, he almost looked familiar. Although he had an accent, his English was perfect. He was the first person she’d had to interact with without google translate.
“I’m sorry for my rudeness earlier…I just have a lot going on.”
He eyed her. “I never would have guessed,” he said, a smirk playing on his lips. “I’m Ruben.”
She stared at his outstretched hand, suddenly realizing she was talking to a stranger on a dark street, save for a distant street lamp, while travelling solo in a country she didn’t understand the language. She shook his hand tentatively, wondering if she should give him a fake name.
“Rebecca.”
“Did you just give me a fake name?”
“What? No, that’s actually my name,” he threw up his hands at her sudden defensiveness.
The waiter who had been standing to the side with her check, worried she was about to dine and dash, took this as his opportunity, “Erm, excuse me…your…” he waved the paper.
“Oh.” Relief flooded Rebecca’s features, finally an escape. She snatched the paper from him and hurried back into the restaurant throwing an “it was nice meeting you Ruben” behind her.
Settled back at her table, she was about to hand the waiter her card when she noticed the stranger approaching her table with dismay.
“Let me pay for your meal,” Ruben said, casually pulling out the chair across from her.
Rebecca watched silently as he gave his card to the waiter instead. She could tell he was a persistent person and arguing with him would just be a back and forth which he would eventually win.
Ten minutes later, they were outside the restaurant again.
“It’s just…” he glances at the shiny watch on his wrist, “7:30. Do you want to do something else?”
Rebecca sighed. “Look, Ruben, thank you for paying for my meal. I really appreciate it. But I’d really like to get back to my hotel room, my friends are waiting for me.”
He quirked an eyebrow. “Another lie? What if you send a picture of my ID to your friends?”
She thought about it. She did need to take her mind off work and what’s a trip to Portugal without stupidly running off with a handsome stranger into the night?
“Alright.” She took a picture of his ID and sent it to her sister back home with the message “in case I go missing x.”
“You’re Portuguese?” She asked, handing him back his ID.
He nodded, “I am.”
“Great, then you can give a me walking tour.”
They spent the rest of the evening walking, conversation flowed easily. Eventually they found themselves staring at the ocean, they’d somehow ended up on the beach.
It was chilly and deserted save for a few out of place pairs like them. The moonlight reflected off the water disrupted by the crashing waves.
Arm in arm, they walked along the shore, his jacket draped over her shoulder.
“Don’t you miss Portugal? It’s very beautiful here.” Rebecca asked when Ruben revealed he lived in Manchester. “Manchester weather is awful.” She scrunched her nose and he laughed at the gesture, she did that a lot.
“It’s not like I have a choice,” he shrugged. “It’s work.”
“What do you do?”
“I’m a footballer.” She slapped his shoulder.
“That’s why you looked so familiar! For Manchester City?” He nodded, amused. “I’ve seen your face on a few posters here and there.”
“And for Portugal.”
Rebecca faked a swoon. “I didn’t know I had a star on my hands.” They both laughed at that.
Soon, they came to a clearing dotted with trees, their leaves swaying in the canopy above.
“Sometimes I wish I wasn’t a footballer.”
“Don’t say that,” she said. “They can hear you.” He looked at the trees and then at her. “You okay?” And then, not a question, “You really think trees can hear us.”
“Of course not. It’s just something my mother used to say to make us conscious of what we say. But you don’t mean that do you?”
He leaned against a tree. “Okay, I love being a footballer but sometimes I wish I could be a regular guy without someone coming up to me for a selfie or to sign something.”
“No one has approached us all evening.” Rebecca looked around to emphasize her point.
“Because it’s dark.” He deadpanned.
She shrugged. “I would give anything to swap lives with you. You’re doing what you love, well compensated for it and you represent your country at the highest level. Some people can only dream of the life you have.”
He let her words wash over him. “I guess I could practice a little more gratitude.”
They talked for a little bit more until Ruben eventually looked at his watch, “it’s getting late, let’s get you back to your hotel.”
“I never got your number,” Rebecca said when they got to the hotel she was staying in. The exchanged phones to put in their numbers, hugs and promises of a second date when they both returned to England.
A/n: I’ve had this in drafts for almost a month now.
I also didn’t know how to end it🧍🏽‍♀️

You and Kylian have been together for ten years now and lived together for almost 7 years and you two were happy until a few months ago. Kylians behavior changed. He became very distant from you and ignored you often. First you thought it was because of the stress with everything that happened in the last few months. But with time you became more upset with his attitude. The boy that always loved you and cherished you stopped being affectionate to you and would always ignore you.
He would stop coming home to you, would sleep at a friend of his. He started to go out more and partying more. Before when he would come home he always hugged you and kissed you, would ask you about your day and how you were in school. Now he just come home eat and either he would play his game or go to sleep.
When you two would eat he would always talk to you and tell you about his day but now he is only on his phone.
When Kylian stopped come home and were always on his phone you were beginning to suspect he was cheating on you. You began to look through his phone when he was sleeping or were in the bathroom showering but you would never find anything. But your suspicion didn’t go away. But you couldn’t understand why he would cheat considering you two would be intimate with each other which ended up with you taking a pregnancy test.
The past week you been feeling off and would have morning sickness, you didn’t think that it would be possible that you were pregnant at first. But after 1-2 week you didn’t get any better and remembered you were late so you took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. You have been pregnant for 2 months
It became so much that you had to ask him.” Baby” you said. Kylian ignored you and continued to be on his phone. “Kylian, can you please answer me” you said again, again he didn’t answer you or look at you. Your voice began to crack and you were starting to cry. Then you became very angry and screamed”KYLIAN I’M TALKING TO YOU”, he looked at you and you can see that he became angry”WHAT DO YOU WANT” he screamed back.” Why are you ignoring me have I done anything wrong to you” you said feeling tears about to come out of your eyes .”Just leave me alone you are so annoying” Kylian said. You felt like your heart broke and started to cry and ran away to your shared bedroom.
After maybe an hour or two you heard the outdoor shut and you began to cry. You laid down and put your hand on your stomach and rubbed it. “I will always be there for you and love you so much my love” you said to your unborned child in your stomach.
Kylian came home at 3am drunk and went to sleep in the guest room. When he woke up he went to brush his teeth and took a shower. After he went down to the kitchen to eat breakfast and saw you eating.”Goodmorning” you said. “Good morning”Kylian said but with a annoyed tone. He then took his breakfast and sat down and began to eat while he was on his phone. Kylian started to laugh and you thought it was time to confront him” Kylian can I ask you something” you said “what do you want?” Kylian said while still looking on his phone. “Are you cheating on me?” You said. Kylian looked up on you confused about where you could get that false information about him. “No why would I do that” he said. “Because you have been ignoring me the last few months and you never come home, you go out and partying a lot this days or when you come home you are always angry at me and stopped sleeping in the same room as me, you stopped prioritizing me” you said with your tears threatening to come out
He got annoyed with you “so just because I go out more means that I’m cheating on you, do you hear how pathetic you sound right now, aghhh your are so fucking annoying, just so you know I have a life and other priorities than you, so JUST LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE” he said raising his voice.
You could take it anymore so you just stood up and walked to your room and started to pack your stuff. He didn’t follow you. You heard the door slammed and started to cry more. You called your friend and told her everything that’s happened between you two.
Your friend came and helped you pack and took you to hers house but before you left you wrote a letter to your boyfriend or maybe ex-boyfriend
The letter
“Kylian this ten years has been the best years of my life. I never thought I would find a better person than you. I love you with all my heart and it breaks me to leave you but I have to do this for my own sake. You have become someone your not. You are not my lovely Kylian anymore. I don’t love this new Kylian. This past months have been the worst month in my life. I don’t know what happened between us, I don’t know what happened to you why this sudden change. You don’t love me anymore and I have to accept it and go on with my life because I see you already did it. Go live your live and be happy without me
Love Yn❤️

Fawney Rig Estate Sale
Fawney Rig Estate Sale, the flyer says, and Hob doesn't know who placed it, or why they chose the Inn as its final housing, but when Dream sees it, the grainy jpeg of some massive gothic monstrosity of a manse bracketed by the words FURNITURE - BOOKS - COLLECTIBLES, his expression becomes distant, and his hand spasms on the bartop. He's gotten fairly good at reading Dream's moods over the past few months, and this one, he thinks, is a doozy. This one is almost like fear.
There's two things that Dream fears, at least that he's seen fit to tell Hob: one, in the darkling hours of the morning, the both of them twined together, Hob pulling the duvet over Dream's thin shoulders and gathering him close, Dream whispering, do not go far from me, Hob Gadling, and that's its own sort of fear, one that Hob understands. He feels it, too.
The other, more insidious, he's seen only rarely. When light catches on a curve of glass just so; when someone speaks in a very specific register and tone; when the night is too quiet, and too slow, and Dream's fingers begin to scratch lines into the tabletops for want of something to occupy him. Dream has told him, in fits and starts, of a hundred years trapped within a glass sphere. He's never mentioned names, but now, in the way that he looks at this flyer, which Hob wants to rip from the wall and shred into a hundred pieces, he doesn't need to.
"How much of it was left?" he asks that night, and Dream tucks his head against Hob's chest, and says nothing. Hob touches his hair, his shoulders, the dear, thin line of his back, thumbing down the rungs of his spine in slow and gentle strokes. "Right. I've got a sledgehammer somewhere. Matty has a forge he made himself, I'm sure he's got something that can cut metal. Everything else we can have shipped out and we'll dump it into the sea."
I do not know if I can accompany you, Dream tells him, and Hob says, That's fine, love. Whatever you need to do. But there's not a chance in Hell that he's letting this opportunity slip by. It's become as much about his own peace of mind as Dream's -- he wants to see the thing that trapped his lover for a more than a century. Wants to see the glass and the iron, the struts and bolts, rendered down into molten slag. All these years and he's thought his great nemesis was his own selfishness, his own attempt to grasp the uncatchable, and yet Dream has said I would have come to you, if I were able, and Hob now realizes the truth: a few tons of scrap iron and lightning-struck sand were the only things that stood between him and Dream, for a hundred and thirty-three years. And he had never known.
It hurts. It hurts in a way that beggars the soul, and out of the centuries of his past he drags up a brigand's easy violence as he dumps petrol into the car. As he drives to Fawney Rig.
It's every bit as tasteless and huge as the picture implied it to be, and the man who opens the door to Hob is older, bent-backed, something soft and yielding about the shape of his shoulders. He takes in the sight of Hob on his doorstep, dirt-grimed burlap sack over one shoulder, the sledgehammer leaning like a loyal dog against the wall.
"Can I help you?"
"Hope so." He drops the bag. It makes a satisfying clanking noise. "Are you Paul McGuire? Put up a load of flyers for an estate sale?"
"I...yes. That's me. The sale isn't for another two weeks. I'm afraid you're rather early." There's something conciliatory about the way he talks. Some sharp and cavernous thing in him senses it, the way that owls can sense the shape of mice in tall grass. He longs for the feel of a good dagger in his hand. It's been a long time since he killed anyone, but he wants, and he recognizes that this is not good, he wants this gutless old man to put up a fight.
This man has never been bloodied nor bled another creature in his life. He'd make a fine target for a bandit, but for Hob's purposes, he's unsatisfying. He kicks the bag, instead.
"I'm not the mercenary I used to be," he says. "Better for you. There's about. Hm. A bit more than a kilo of gold bullion in that bag. It's old, but any jeweler will tell you it's pure. It's yours if you leave. Now."
"I don't. I don't understand."
"No," Hob says, unkindly. "You don't. Which is why I'm giving you this chance to leave. He said you were the one who let him out. Eventually. After a hundred and thirty-three years."
The man's face goes pale as clotted cream. He looks at the sledgehammer with new fear. He remembers this feeling, the intimacy of a knife held to the throat of one who deserves it. It's not one he anticipated dredging up, not once highway robbery went out of style, but it comes back to him as easy as riding a bicycle. Perhaps he should be worried about that.
He'll worry later. Paul McGuire is nodding slowly, looking ill, looking lost. "Is he here?" he asks, and Hob snorts.
"If he was," he says, "I wouldn't tell you."
And that, as they say, is that. Hob is left standing in the entry hall of Fawney Rig, the fading splendor of it, all its gothic twists and its vaguely occult symbolism wended through with high-quality electric lights and a security system to make the Queen weep. Paul hasn't left him a key. By the end of the night, he doesn't intend to need one anymore.
It makes as much sense to start from the ground up as anything else, and finding the stairs to the basement is easy. The hammer is a comfortable heft over his shoulder, and it's as he starts down into that long and sightless tunnel that he feels the shape take just behind him.
"Hello, love," he says, and Dream reaches out. Hob takes his hand, as easy as breathing. "You doing all right?"
"It looks different. From this direction."
"I imagine it would. You aren't alone this time, though." He squeezes the hand in his. It's like trying to squeeze a stone, cold and implacable. "And we're leaving here together."
"Hm." But the hand relaxes, in minute increments. He can feel Dream behind him, can feel the outline of his shoulders, can see the vague eyeshine cast upon the wall, but he doesn't look back. Hob's read that story before. He'll look back when the job is finished. When they leave Hell together.
"Let's finish what you started," he says, as they reach the bottom of the stairs. The ruin of the glass sphere sits in awful majesty in the center of a narrow moat; even from here, he can see the lines of yellow paint, the runes that bound Dream into an airless, feelingless void. The iron struts are lined with spikes; Hob wishes, abruptly, hotly, that he had only given Paul McGuire to the count of ten to leave. He hasn't any horse to ride him down, but he wouldn't have needed one anyways. An old man, and he with rage giving him winged feet.
"Right," he says, and let's go of Dream's hand, only long enough to heft the hammer properly. "Let's get started, darling. I'd like to be home in time to make you dinner."
He doesn't look back (he'll look back, he thinks, when he has reduced this poxy sphere to dust, when he has ground the iron into filings, when there is nothing left of this cursed mausoleum but concrete dust and burnt pages), but he feels the shape of Dream behind him. Can hear his smile.
It sounds like breaking glass. There's no music sweeter, Hob thinks, and lets the hammer fly.

(It’s time for a 4halo ramble and analysis into their current relationship! Everything that follows is about the characters, I’m not using the q! because I’m lazy. I also want to repeat that while I am a 4halo shipper this entire rant is me explaining why I don’t want them to get together right now or anywhere in the near future. I don’t really consider this 4halo neg but let me know if you want me to tag it as such - they have the chemistry and in a distant future I could see it - but the fluffy 4halo that everyone seems to be imagining right now? I can’t see it happening. Toxic 4halo is another story entirely though and not what this ramble is about)
Okay you have been warned (THIS IS LONG):
not saying I’m not a huge 4halo enjoyer because. I am. But I do hope they don’t actually “become canon” or get into a relationship for the foreseeable future. Because the only realistic way that will end is in a giant, heart-wrenching break-up after like. 2 weeks. And I don’t see the ship recovering from that I’m gonna be honest.
Look. They can barely communicate as they are right now, any kind of committed relationship between them would end in fire and brimstone - especially when you take into account the power imbalance that is already causing problems.
Forever has not apologized for jailing Bad, even though Bad has asked for it (a rare show of communication on his part) and he might not apologize ever because he thinks he’s in the right. Somehow Cellbit is the only one to have apologized despite being the one calling for Bad’s head the most during the actual furniture incident. Anyway, Bad knows Forever thinks he’s in the right. And Bad also knows Forever wielded his presidential power to keep him jailed - so if Forever’s not sorry and he believes he was right, what’s to stop him from doing it again - in Bad’s mind, that is. There are actually quite a few things keeping him from doing it again, chief among them being that he doesn’t want to lmao. But Bad wouldn’t know that, would he?
I just- The imprisonment hurt Bad’s trust in everyone so badly that he destroyed every waystone in his base - and he when he found out Pac had someone gotten in anyway, he destroyed the waystone again. I don’t think people understand how long he’s been contemplating doing that. I don’t think people understand how many times he’s decided against destroying his waystones. It takes a pretty big fuck up to get him to do that. It takes a fuck-up of pretty tremendous proportions. And he did that last bit with Pac extremely recently too, which means he hasn’t forgotten.
And that - the whole furniture fiasco - that’s not a misstep that will just smooth over if Bad and Forever just care about each other hard enough. They already care about each other deeply - it didn’t stop the conflict. It’s not something everyone can just sweep under the rug with the power of love and no actual communication. Or at least I hope it’s not. It shouldn’t be. Any relationship the two get into right now will be steeped in distrust and wariness on Bad’s part due to the amount of power Forever can choose to use against him at any moment. And even if Forever hadn’t imprisoned him, that would still probably be the case, albeit to a much lesser extent. But Forever did imprison him, so now Bad’s not only wary of Forever turning on him in a hypothetical sense - he has past experience with that exact scenario. He has reason to distrust. It’s not paranoia in this instance; it’s genuine, rational distrust, which is even harder to alleviate.
By the way, that’s not even taking into account that Bad now knows of the existence of a drug that can brainwash Forever into potentially abusing his power against his own will. Think about how scary we all thought the drug-induced marriage proposals were. Think about how much scarier it would’ve been if Bad and Forever had actually been dating at the time. I’m not going to get into the risus potion here, or what implications it has for Bad’s trust in Forever - or more accurately, the trust he has in Forever’s position of power - because that’s too fucking complicated for my silly brain right now and this is long enough.
So basically: how is a relationship between a president and an anarchist supposed to work? Is Bad supposed to shut up, abandon his core principles, and do whatever Forever wants? When he opposes/attempts to help Forever improve the voting system he’s not being ‘immature’ - he’s acting in perfect accordance with his own belief system. There are points where he does act antagonist in an immature manner but in those instances he is very obviously being dramatic on purpose (and Forever does it as well). Him thinking Forever’s voting system isn’t fair isn’t him being immature, it’s just him being politically opposed. And Forever - what about Forever? Is Forever supposed to throw away his entire presidency? Oh, Bad’s an anarchist so that means Forever has to give up everything he’s worked so hard to accomplish, all the plans he has, all the good he’s desperately trying to do despite the fact that the nature of his position is scaring his loved ones away? He’s supposed to let everyone boss him around? Just because his crush hates government? Really? See, none of these options sounds particularly healthy, but their friendship isn’t even healthy right now so I can’t see them somehow reaching a better alternative.
Idk if you couldn’t tell I don’t like it when people non-jokingly boil down Bad and Forever’s political arguments as something that’ll be solved if one of them gives in or apologizes. Because they won’t. Because neither of them is wrong. Forever was partially right when he told Bagi that nothing he does as president will ever satisfy Bad - Bad is an anarchist, the fact that a government has been forced on him in the first place is already a fundamental problem - and that’s not wrong of him! It’s a genuine difference in beliefs and neither of them is wrong! Bad is not somehow automatically wrong because he’s an anarchist, and Forever is not somehow automatically wrong because he’s the president. Grrr bark woof grr bark, etc… you get what I mean.
(TLDR; if 4halo becomes canon right now it’ll crash and burn instantly and kill everyone on board which I don’t want to happen. Therefore I don’t wish for it to be canon.)

Date Night
Tumblr media
Christian Pulisic x reader
You and Christian are adjusting to life as new parents and find yourselves missing each other’s company.
Word count: 1500+
Warnings: None
Four weeks. It had been four weeks since you and Christian had brought your newborn son, Lucas, home from the hospital and began your journey as parents. And in those four weeks, Christian felt like you had grown further and further apart as you both attempted to settle into your new normal.
You had not meant to be distant to him, you were just overwhelmed, consumed with your son and trying to keep things as normal as possible for Christian.
You knew he had a busy schedule with training, matches and other work related interviews and promotions. You didn't want the lack of sleep to affect him so you had even began sleeping in the guest room some with the baby in a bassinet beside you so that he wouldn't wake up Christian during the night.
Little did you know, Christian missed you deeply. He wasn't sleeping well knowing you were down the hallway from him so really he was just as exhausted as if he was the one up all night with the baby.
He wasn't quite sure where your head was and he was a little scared to ask in case it was something he had done wrong unintentionally.
He had left for training already when you found the note he had left on the counter for you.
Be ready for a date tonight at 7. xx
You nervously bit your lip, unsure as to what he had planned but you knew you weren't quite ready to leave Lucas in someone else's care.
You missed spending time with Christian, and you knew it felt like the two of you had grown apart while you tried to adjust to life with a baby. The attempts you had made for movie nights or spending time together once Lucas was asleep usually ended up in one of both of you falling asleep early.
Christian didn't blame you and he was thankful for how naturally you had taken on the role of motherhood, but he missed having that connection with you.
You understand him better than anyone and he was craving some meaningful time alone with you . Selfishly he hated feeling like he was competing for your love and attention.
That was when he decided to plan a date night. He knew you wouldn't want to leave Lucas at home yet so that the two of you could go out which was why he had gone to great lengths to prepare for a date night at home.
When he got home from training, you and Lucas were napping which gave him the perfect opportunity to set his plans into motion.
He arranged the dining set in the garden with some lights and your favorite flowers and scattered a few candles around. He grabbed a blanket and threw it on the lounger next to the outdoor fireplace he knew you loved to sit beside on cool evenings.
Next he called your favorite restaurant and placed an order to be delivered just prior to seven before heading upstairs to lay down for a bit with you.
You stirred slightly when you felt the bed dip beside you. Christian pulled you closer to him and nuzzeled his face into your neck placing a delicate kiss there before you drifted off back to sleep.
When you woke up, you questioned him about the plans for the night. Sensing your nerves, he pulled your hand up to place a kiss over your knuckles, "just trust me please, baby, I just want to spend some time with you" he pleaded.
You nodded and left the bed to go get in the shower while he spent some time cuddling Lucas. You wanted to make an effort since so often over the past month Christian had only seen you in sweats, oversized shirts and leggings.
You curled your hair for the first time in a month and put on makeup before selecting a simple outfit that you knew Christian would like. Once you were dressed, you made went in search of the boys finding Christian and Lucas in the nursery as Christian was just putting him back down to sleep.
When he turns to see you in the doorway, his eyes light up "wow, you look beautiful" he whispers, cheeks tinged slightly pink as he makes his way over to you and pulls you in for a kiss.
You leave the nursery and as you are making you way down the stairs you hear the doorbell. Christian intertwines his fingers with youra as you both go to answer the door. You breathe a sigh of relief when you realize it is a delivery driver and not a babysitter.
As he shuts the door, Christian turns to you "I know you aren't quite ready for a night out, but I thought we could have a night in while Lucas sleeps."
As you make your way into the garden with your meal, tears threaten to spill from your eyes when you realize the effort he has gone to for tonight. He places the baby monitor down on the table so that you can both keep an eye on Lucas as you turn to pull him into an embrace.
You press your face against his chest and whisper "Thank you, I've missed spending time with you, Christian."
He kisses you lightly on the top of the head as his fingers stroke along your back "I've missed you too, pretty girl."
Butterflies erupt in your stomach, just like when the two of you first started dating at the term of endearment. You stood and held each other for a few more minutes, enjoying the warmth of being close to one another for the first time in what felt like forever.
You finally settle down to eat your dinner catching up on things that seem to have gone unsaid for quite a while. After Christian took your plates back into the kitchen and poured you another glass of wine he came back outside to find you snuggled under the blanket on the lounger, waiting for him to join you.
He cuddled up beside you, pulling the blanket over both of you and moving as close to you as he could. He looks down to notice a stray tear falling from your eye. He wipes it away and quietly asks what's wrong.
"Nothing, nothing is wrong, this was just what I needed. I'm sorry, Christian. I know I've been distant with you, I'm just trying to balance everything, but I didn't mean to shut you out like I have. I really have missed you so much."
"It's ok, baby. I wouldn't want to do any of this with anyone else. But I do miss spending time with you. Just us. I'm never going to stop dating you, even if date nights look a little different for now, will you promise me we will do this more often?" He asks as he slides his hand up and down your side.
You nod and continue running your fingers along his arm. "I promise, date nights, every week, we can take turns planning them."
You lay in silence for a while longer, enjoying being in each other's company and the ambiance of the warm fire and blanket as you snuggled with the man you were madly in love with, until you hear a cry bursting through the monitor.
Both of you move to stand up, and Christian pulls you in for a gentle kiss. He whispers against your lips, "I've got him, you go take a bath." You smile in response and the two of you make your way back inside and upstairs.
As you are slipping into the bath, the door to the bathroom opens and Christian comes in, holding your son in one arm and partly dragging, partly kicking his oversized bean bag from his gaming room through the door.
"What on earth" you giggle at him.
"Your two favorite fellas miss you so we are here to hang out" he grins at you as he settles into the beanbag, Lucas reclining on Christian's legs.
"I could stare at him all night you know?" he says quietly as he rubs his thumb over his son's cheek.
"I could stare at you staring at him all night" you smile over at them.
"I love watching you with him, Christian, you are such an amazing dad already" you continue.
He just smiles at you "You are amazing, too. Do you ever just look at him and can't believe we made him? I mean you did most of the work obviously, but I can't believe he's ours sometimes."
"I seem to remember you being there for the fun parts of making him" you grin back at him.
"Speaking of, I go back to the midwife this week for my final check up."
His face snaps over to look at you, excitement in his eyes "so that means" he trails off as you nod at him at bit of a glint in your eye as you stand to get out of the bath and wrapping yourself in a towel.
"I think I know what we are doing for our next date night, Mr. Pulisic" you chuckle at him.
"I think I know what we are doing for the next several date nights" he winks back at you "and I moved the bassinet back to our room, you aren't spending another night not in our bed, Mrs. Pulisic."

a silence so loud
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: billy russo x fem!reader
summary: after an argument, you decide to give billy the silent treatment. billy finds out just how much he hates it
warnings: angst + fluff, allusions to sex
word count: 3.2k
note: when men grovel 🥰🥰
Tumblr media
it has been a hectic past few days at anvil. billy had been burning the midnight oil this whole week. he sat at his desk, fingers rubbing over his temple as he looked over his paperwork. a half empty bottle of bourbon resting on the surface, his trusty companion these past few nights. a sigh leaves his lips as stretches his neck, rolling his shoulders back.
“billy?”
billy almost doesn't hear you, too engrossed with the file in his hand. when he doesn't answer, you quietly step into his office. “billy?” you say again. this time he barely glances up at you before going back to his work.
you suck in a breath, walking over to stand in front of his desk. his disheveled state getting clearer the closer you come, the bags under his eyes, his hair in disarray, his suit jacket hanging off the back of his chair, his tie hanging loosely around his neck and the sleeves of his dress shirt rolled up to his elbows.
you had been working at anvil part time, helping out with some administration work whenever you needed to. billy took a particular interest in you. people warned you about getting involved with someone from work. the fact that billy was your boss certainly did not help.
you tried to fight the attraction, but in all honesty, you didn't want to. billy russo is… alluring. so after months of flirty banter, you finally agreed to go out on a date with him, much to his pleasure.
“how long have you been here?”
billy shrugs, continuing to comb through his files. “okay. when was the last time you ate something?”
“sandwich at lunch.” he mumbled, you almost didn't hear it. “billy, that was almost twelve hours ago.”
“so?”
you roll your eyes at your boyfriend, “here,” you put down a brown paper bag on his desk, “burger and fries. eat.” his hand moves to grab the bag and your eyes widen in satisfaction, but quickly dim down when he moves it to the side as it was resting on top of a document.
“not hungry.” billy murmurs, crossing out something with his pen. you internally groan at his shortness. you know he’s stressed, which is why you stayed behind today, to see if you could convince him to take a break. but your boyfriend is a stubborn man, determined, but stubborn.
“babe, you gotta eat.” he doesn't respond to that. “want something done right, i gotta do it myself.” he mutters to himself as he crumples up a piece of paper and carelessly tosses it to the side. you let out a dejected breath, moving to sit in one of the chairs in front of his desk.
you watch as he frustratingly runs his fingers through his hair, and by the state of his hair you can tell it wasn't the first time he’d done so. your gaze settled on his face as his eyes moved from the file on his desk to his computer screen, darting back and forth to double check all the information.
“billy.” you call out softly. no answer. “billy.” you try again. zilch. “mic check. one, two, three.” you joke and while it’s a stupid one, it had been an inside joke between the two of you after some technical difficulties you had during one of your facetimes. still no reaction.
you know he's stressed, you know the pressure he’s under. that’s why you hadn't said anything these past few days, hoping his workload would eventually let up and he’ll be a functioning human being once more. but now he seemed even further away, even more distant.
and while you understand how important the company is to him, dear lord did you miss him.
of course, you didn't want to monopolize his time. you didn't need to spend every waking moment at his side, but you hadn't touched each other in weeks, when you kissed it was just a quick peck, neither of you deepening the kiss as billy constantly had to rush from one place to another.
“baby, why don't you take a break? get some shut eye, all of this will still be here when you come back.” you spoke softly, leaning forward your chair, tilting your head so you can meet his eyes. billy still doesn’t look up, but he shakes his head no, humming in refusal.
“billy, come on you've been at this non stop. let’s get some fresh air.” you try again, billy ignores you. you know he's on edge, but you're not far behind either. “can you at least look at me? this isn't healthy, you need to-”
you halt as billy slams his fist on the desk, eyes closed in frustration as he takes a deep breath. you jolt back, heart racing in your chest as you await his further reaction.
“fucking hell, can you just- y/n, i’m sorry i can’t be your attentive little boyfriend 24/7. i am up to my fucking neck here! so either you leave or shut up and be quiet because i can't deal with your nagging right now!”
you stare at him in disbelief, mouth hanging slightly open at his outburst. you almost shiver at the cold look in his eyes. his jaw clenched as he let out heavy sighs. a silence falls upon you, tension quickly filling the air. you've had arguments and little spats, of course. but billy never once raised his voice at you.
you were a strong headed person. you stood your ground and took no shit. it's what billy likes about you, you challenged him and saw through his bullshit.
“nagging?” you purse your lips. “i’m nagging you? okay, fine. i'll leave.” it was late and you were in no mood to argue with him. you quickly gather your things before storming out of his office. if he wanted quiet, who were you to deny him?
“enjoy the peace and quiet.”
-
the next morning you’re seated at your desk, typing away when you see billy approaching. he looks at you warily before setting down a cup of coffee on your desk. he always does that. on his way to work, he stops by a cafe and buys two coffees, one for himself and one for you.
you look at the cup before tilting your head to meet his eyes. you wait for him to say something. when he doesn't, you reach for the coffee sitting on your desk, but not the one he just brought to you, no, the one you had bought for yourself earlier this morning. you bring it to your lips while staring at him.
billy holds back a scoff, “what is that? i bring you coffee every morning.” you shrug. billy presses his lips together. “i tried calling you last night.” he did. about ten times.
you turn back to your computer, suddenly your empty email inbox seems very interesting. billy lets out an unamused laugh. “really? silent treatment?” you stay quiet, billy shakes his head before grabbing the coffee and heading off to his office.
-
billy sat at his desk, head in his hands. only this time it had nothing to do with the overwhelming amount of work (which had been reducing as of this morning, thanks to all of his late nights). it had to do with you. he knew he had fucked up last night. the look on your face after he yelled at you was burned into his memory, unwavering despite his attempts at forgetting.
after you left, he finished the bottle of bourbon, and almost opened another one. a part of him was glad you didn't answer his calls, shuddering at the thought of what he might've said in his drunken stupor. he knew you were still mad at him, he knew had to make it up to you. but how?
his thoughts were interrupted when you walked in. he immediately sat up straight, eyes following you as you walk towards him. the glimmer of hope that filled his chest left as soon as it came when you placed an open document in front him. your finger pointing to the dotted line where his signature was missing. billy sighed as he grudgingly reached for a pen and quickly signed the form. when you go to grab it, he hesitantly takes your wrist in his hand.
“still not talking to me?”
you blink at him, snatching your arm out of his grasp and grabbing the file. “sweets, you can't keep this up forever.” you tilt your chin at him, silently accepting the challenge. billy goes to say something when frank walks in, halting his speech. frank gives you a smile when he sees you, “y/n! how you doin, kid?” you return his smile, “doing good, frank. how about you? how’s maria and the kids?”
billy perked up at your voice, eyes wide as he watched the exchange between you and his best friend.
“they're great. we got a new-”
“what the fuck?” billy suddenly exclaims, making frank whip his head to him. “geez, bill.” billy keeps his gaze on you, though. shaking his head as he stands up from his chair. “you'll talk to him? him? but not me!?” he’s not yelling, but more speaking in annoyance and frustration, through gritted teeth. you slowly turn to face him, feigning a look of innocence. you hold his glare before abruptly turning on your heel. “give the family my best, would you, frank?” you call out before exiting the office.
frank’s eyes confusingly dart between and billy and the door, “do i wanna know?” he asks as billy runs a hand over his face before sitting back down. “she's mad at me.”
“yeah, clearly. what'd you do?”
“you know how crazy shit’s been here lately?”
frank hummed, “yeah with the new recruits and homeland breathing down our necks.” billy nodded in confirmation. “was working late, she stopped by to check on me,” billy paused, pinching the bride of his nose as his eyes closed shut, “god, she was just trying to help,”
“anyway, i was running on like 2 hours of sleep and i was so on edge that i ended up lashing out at her. told her to be quiet and stop nagging me.” he lets out a humorless chuckle, “guess she's just doing what i asked, huh?”
“fuck, bill. you apologize yet?
“yeah.”
“what’d you say?” frank prompted, crossing his arms. “well, i tried calling her last night, but she didn't answer. then i got her a coffee this morning-”
“wait, you apologized with a coffee?” billy nodded cluelessly, causing frank to roll his eyes. “you get her coffee every goddamn morning! how is that an apology?” he almost wants to reach over and smack billy over the head.
“so i should get her like, jewelry or something?”
“jesus christ- this is your first real relationship, right?”
“yeah. why?”
“it's painfully obvious.”
“well, then what the fuck should i do?” billy groans. frank lets out a chuckle, never thinking he would see billy in such a predicament.
“a safe place to start would be with the words ‘i’m sorry’.”
-
billy nervously stood at your door, taking a deep breath. throughout the day he had watched you in the office, how you talked so frivolously with your co workers, handing out smiles like fucking candy. it killed him that not once was he on the receiving end of one.
hesitantly he brings his fist up and softly knocks on the door, three light raps. he hears you shuffling around as footsteps approach. he can see the shadow of your feet as you stand in front of the door. he sees you pause, no doubt looking through the peephole at him. he worries that you won’t open the door, much less let him in.
after a few moments, billy’s ready to throw in the towel, but then he hears the unmistakable sound of the chain being taken off your door, followed by the twisting of the door knob. the door opens slightly and you reveal yourself. a smile tugs at billy’s lips at the sight of you. “hi.” you don't greet him, as expected. “can i come in?” he asks softly. “i've got pizza. your favorite.” he holds up the box.
when you step to the side and gesture a hand out, billy lets out an audible sigh of relief. he carefully steps into your apartment, familiarity hitting him hard. his heart wrenches at the fact that he can't remember the last time he’d been here. was it a week? two, maybe? he doesn't know, but it was far too long either way.
he realized that your silence wasn't just an act of punishment at his outburst yesterday, no, it had been building up. he'd been neglecting you and the time you spent together for a while now. part of him wonders why you'd let it go on for so long, why you didn't call him out. but he knew you thought it would eventually ease up. but it didn't, he didn't.
he sets the pizza down on your dining table before turning to face you. your arms are crossed over your chest. billy gives you a soft smile before extending the hand holding a bouquet out to you. you don't grab it immediately, your eyes flickering from billy to the flowers.
“they're- uh, white tulips? florist said they symbolize forgiveness or something.”
his smile gradually falters as his shoulders sag and he hangs his head down. he lets out a breath before looking back up at you. “y/n. i’m sorry. i'm so sorry. i was a complete dick. i never should’ve lashed out on you. it was stupid and you don’t deserve that. you don't deserve any of the shit i've been putting you through these past few weeks.” he rambles almost desperately, flailing his free arm in the air.
“i promise you will never have to go through that again. i will take any punishment you see fit, i'll do anything you want but for the love of god please just talk to me!” his voice almost cracks as his eyes become watery. you remain silent. “please, just- i need to hear your voice. yell at me, scream, cuss me out, call me every fucking name in the book, but i can’t- this,” he gestures to you, more your silence.
“this is torture. so please, will you talk to me?”
you take a moment to study him. you purse your lips before moving to grab the tulips out his hand. you walk over to the kitchen, reaching into a cabinet you pull out a vase. you rinse it and fill it with water before depositing the flowers inside and displaying them on the dining table, setting them next to the pizza.
billy watches you, frozen in place. almost as if he's scared any sudden movement will scare you away. you take a seat at the table. “come on, the pizza’s getting cold.” it takes a second for your voice to register in billy’s brain. a calm spreads through his chest. he carefully walks over to the other side of the table, pulling out a chair before slotting himself in it.
his eyes don't leave you as you pull open the lid of the pizza box. “i'm still mad at you.” you tell him. billy grins at you, “that's okay, just keep talking.”
“billy, i know anvil means a lot to you and i don’t ever want you to choose between me or the company. but i didn't like seeing you like that, billy. you were barely a person. you were like a workaholic zombie.”
billy laughs, “workaholic zombie?”
“yeah. instead of brains, they feed on emails and manilla colored folders.”
“gotcha. babe, i promise you this will never happen again. i don't know what happened to me, i just wanted to get some extra work done so it wouldn't pile up, but then it piled up anyway. i'm so sorry.”
“billy, i'm never gonna ask you to put me before anvil. but i am gonna ask you to put your own well being before anvil. no more working yourself to the bone, no more refusing to eat the food your awesome girlfriend brings to you at ungodly hours. you've sacrificed enough for this company, let's not add your mental stability to the list. like you seriously need some r&r.”
a comfortable silence fills the room. billy looks at you adoringly as you munch away at the pizza. “way ahead of you. taking two weeks off." you nod proudly at him, “that’ll do you some good.”
“it'll do us some good.” he corrects. you furrow your eyebrows, “huh?”
“you're taking two weeks off too.” he smirks devilishly at you. “billy.” you whine. “come on, if i'm gonna relax, i'm doing it with you by my side.” you shake your head. you try to object, but a two week vacation sounds like heaven right now. billy teasingly raises his eyebrows at you and you can't fight off the smile forming on your face. billy knows your answer.
“so i was thinking paris or italy.” billy suggests, reaching for a slice of pizza. you inwardly smile as this is the first time you've seen him eat anything in a while.
“you wanna go to europe for two weeks?”
billy shrugs, “why not?” you let out a laugh, “when i said relax, i meant like sleeping in and watching shitty movies all day.”
“and we can do that in venice too.”
“you're crazy.”
billy stands from his chair, walking over to you, “not hearing no yet, sweets.” he leaned down, stopping inches away from your face. you can feel his breath on your lips. you tilt your head teasingly, pretending to ponder the subject. “i mean, i guess. if you need me to be there.” you say with mock annoyance.
“oh, i definitely need you.” he smirks before capturing lips on his, he relishes in the feeling. not realizing how much he’d miss this. surprised how he went so long without it. your arms go around his neck, pulling him closer to you. billy hums into the kiss, his hands come down to rest on your waist before gripping them tightly and pulling you up. you raise to your feet, but you can barely find your footing before he lifts you and makes you wrap your legs around his waist.
you abruptly pull away from the kiss and billy groans. “wait, i'm supposed to be mad at you.” you say in between breaths, chest heaving as billy grips your thighs. billy nods. “then let me show you how sorry i am.” he whispers before bringing your lips to his again. he starts to walk to your bedroom, making sure he's holding you tight, all the while still keeping your lips locked, wanting to be as close to you as possible.
he pulls away to press kisses down your neck. he stops at your collarbone before following the same path upwards, a soft hum escaping your lips. he nudges your nose with his, eyes darkening with lust as he leans down to whisper in your ear,
“whatever you do, don't you dare stay quiet. i wanna hear everything, sweetheart.”

Byler Week, Day 6: Pre-Volume 2 Vibes
:)
-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He eyes the two sketches. They both would be a bit like putting his heart on the canvas. But which one would be more damning?
And which one would make Mike the happiest to get?
Still undecided, he pads out into the living room. Thankfully, Mom is between calls. She looks up and gives him a weary smile.
Evens, the DnD picture, odds, the swingset. “Hey, can you pick a number between one and ten?
“Hmmm, seven.”
“Okay…Thank you…”
Will goes back to his room, closes the door, and forces down the roiling anxiety making his throat tight. Swingset painting it is, then.
Mechanically, he finishes setting out his painting supplies. He sets the drawing in easy view of the easel.
If the painting is too much…If he finishes painting out this pivottable moment from their childhood (“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”), and the love he has for Mike comes across too clearly…Well, he can just give Mike the drawing of the DnD scene. It’s a good drawing anyway. One he’ll probably want to paint out at some point anyway.
He takes a few deep breaths, and focuses on the canvas.
-
Will hates to see Mike so down on himself.
Perhaps it’s not the best time. Maybe he should be a good friend and brother, focusing on trying to fix whatever it is that’s broken Mike and El apart so badly. But Will’s heart is hurting that Mike is hurting and he just wants to see him smile.
“Can I show you something?”
Heart in his throat, he hands the painting over. Jonathan and Argyle in the front of the van seem miles away. All Will can focus on is Mike’s face, as he unrolls the painting.
And…
Tumblr media
A smile spreads across Mike’s face, and it’s the most beautiful thing in the world to Will.
Mike looks up to beam at him.
“This is amazing,” he says genuinely. “Did you paint this?”
“Yeah…I…I mean…” Will looks away, feeling flustered at the genuine awe and happiness that’s taken over Mike’s face. He picks at a loose thread on his pants.
“These past few months, I’ve been so…lost without you.” He curls his fingers into the fists. “It’s just…I’m so different from other people.” His eyes suddenly burn from the tears he’s been swallowing back all week. “And when you’re…different, sometimes you can feel like a mistake.” He forces himself to face Mike, needing him to understand. “But you don’t make me feel like a mistake. You make me feel like being different is good. I think I’ve been kind of mean and distant lately, but that’s just because I’m so scared of losing you.” He bites his lip, feeling like maybe he’s said a bit too much. He refocuses on the painting.
“A couple years ago you said…asking to be my friend was the best thing you’ve ever done…” Will swallows and looks up, watches Mike’s face go pink. His eyes are wide and almost sparkling. Pretty. It gives Will the courage to finish speaking. “Well, I guess this was me saying that telling you yes was the best thing I’ve ever done.”
Mike tears up, and it’s so sudden and startling (Mike hardly ever cries), that Will feels himself tearing up again in response.
And then Mike grabs him into a hug, tight and warm and oh so familiar. “Thank you Will. This is the best thing I’ve ever gotten.”
For a moment they sit, hugging and crying a little, and for the first time all week things feel brighter.
“I tried to call,” Mike mumbles into Will’s shoulder. “But the line was always blocked with your Mom’s job. I’ve been scared of losing you too, because it keeps happening.”
Oh.
Part of Will immediately wants to burst out into apologies, allow the nudging guilt at the back of his brain to take the forefront. But that can wait until later.
Right now, Will just wants to hug his best friend. Everything else fades into the background. This moment is theirs.
-
In the front of the van, unheard by the younger teens, Argyle whispers. “Dude, was that a confession? Does baby bro have a boyfriend now?”
Jonathan nudges him. “If they are, they’ll say so when they’re ready.” He bites his lip. Either way, I should make sure Will knows I’m here for him.

Some people leave your life just as unexpectedly as they show up. They offer nothing but distant memories of shared late evenings and cold tea, which soon make you question your sanity and if they were ever real at all.
Such person was Sasuke Uchiha.
You met him years ago, while he was working for a shady man called Orochimaru and was in pursuit of revenge against his brother. He was not like any boy you've met before: arrogant, proud, constantly tense, and untrusting. Rarely talked about himself, and much preferred to sit in silence, dwelling on his own thoughts, than to voice his feelings and opinions out loud. He always seemed in a hurry, constantly telling you he could stay no longer than an hour before he had to leave again.
To this day you never learned the true intentions behind his visits. The first time it was a simple call for help - sitting on a lone hill between the borders of the Land of Wind and the Land of Rivers, he easily mistaken your cottage for an abandoned house where he could seek refuge after being badly wounded.
A terrifying surprise was written on both of your faces once you came back home later that afternoon only to find the black-haired ninja bleeding heavily on your bed. You were no medic, but you used your limited knowledge of herbal medicine to help his recovery as much as you could. In return, he spared your life.
He visited irregularly, but often after this. Sometimes he showed up three times per week, and sometimes months passed before you heard from him again. Sasuke never offered any explanation about where he was or what he was doing, instead often justifying his random appearances as his need for alternative treatment for his scars and wound.
The first few times it made you raise your brows in question - you were not an expert healer, all you knew being tales passed down from your grandmother about the properties of a handful of plants. Yet, you never spilled your suspicion out loud to him, instead quietly finding comfort in his presence.
It was strange how well you got along, your shared love for silence and solitude somehow bringing you together. Most of the time you just sat there, next to each other, quietly sipping your tea and staring at the sky.
Sometimes you caught him glancing at you or curiously inspecting all the pictures and books you had on the shelves around your living room, his lips pressed into a thin line of concentration, while he tried to put the pieces of your life story together in his mind. He never asked you for more other than your name and your age. You never offered anything more either.
It took a few months after his last visit for you to realize he wasn't coming back and that in the end, he was no more than a stranger to you - you didn't know anything about him other than his name, his birth village, and the fact that he wanted to kill his brother. His motives were never revealed, and his ambitions for the future - never shared.
Despite this, it always felt like he was some form of friend to you. There was a silent understanding that both of you carried too much weight on your shoulders and you did not wish to revisit a painful past by re-telling it, instead finding peace in watching the beauty of the stars up the sky or the birds, who migrated to their new home in the late summer afternoons.
Years have passed since then. What you cherished as meaningful moments soon turned into dusty memories, that never reminded you of him outside your dreams. Life continued, despite time staying still - time always felt frozen when you lived a life by yourself, away from all humanity.
So when you found him one day, glaring at you with red eyes, you were both dumbfounded and terrified. He looked at you in a way that screamed hatred, rage, sadness, and pain. For a second you wondered if they were directed at you.
"I didn't know where else to go."
His voice was the total opposite of how he looked - it was small and weak, almost on the verge of breaking.
You quickly stepped aside, an unspoken invitation for him to come into your home. His feet hurried past you and you closed the door after him, immediately walking toward the kitchen to prepare jasmine tea. His favourite. Sasuke didn't like tea, but there was something about the way you prepared it that always eased both his muscles and his nerves.
After a while you came back, holding two white mugs in your hands, only to find him with his head buried in his hands and his knee shaking violently. You quickly sat next to him, before placing the drinks on the table and turning toward him, instinctively placing your hand on his back, rubbing small circles.
"I did it", he said with a hoarse voice, his head still hanging low, his black locks covering his face from you. There was no need for him to say anything else - these three words were enough for you to understand that he has finally achieved his goal. The result, however, seemed not to be what he hoped for.
"I am sorry."
Sasuke finally raised his head, looking at you with narrowed eyes. You could see the trail of dry tears covering his cheeks and you easily assumed he must have cried while you were in the kitchen. His lips were twisted in a scowl and he let out an angry breath through his nose.
"I don't need your pity!"
Despite the aggression in his tone, his eyes started to tear up again and he squeezed his eyelids shut in a poor attempt to stop them from falling.
"I have finally learned the truth", he hissed through gritted teeth, "I finally learned why my brother really did it."
The mention of the word "brother" seemed to trigger something in him and the tears started flowing freely from his eyes, while his lips started to mumble incoherent sentences about the Uchiha Massacre, Konoha, and the orders the elders gave to his brother. It was a mess - he kept referring back to his talks with a man named "Madara" while jumping back and forth between the memories of that bloody night and his plans for destroying the Leaf. It took you a while to piece the chronology together, while the feelings he kept bottling for years just kept erupting, reducing what you once knew as a stoic and controlled man, into a sobbing, raging mess on the floor.
It took around an hour for him to finish his story and for you to quietly absorb every detail, while he poured his heart out to you. The hand that was first rubbing soothing patterns on his back, was laying flat in his palm, while his fingers squeezed it for dear life. It almost looked like he was afraid that you were nothing more than a fruit of his imagination and if he let go, you would disappear into thin air and leave him by himself.
"I will destroy them!", the vow was made once there were no more tears left for him to cry, "They will all pay for what they did to my clan! To Itachi! To ME!
Taking a sip of your tea, you hummed under your breath, before turning towards him. For the whole time he was here, you didn't comment on anything he told you, but you also didn't have the chance to do so, as Sasuke left no time between his voiced thoughts for you to mutter even a word.
"And then what?", the question surprised him and he turned to you with confused expression.
"What do you mean "then what?"
Pulling your hand away, you tilted your head to the side.
"You are going to destroy your village, sacrificing the innocent lives of many, including your old friends, teammates, and teachers", you thought out loud, moving your eyes toward the old map of the world that hung framed on the wall opposite you, "And then what? The Leaf's allies would without question turn against you, and then you are going to have to destroy them too. A bloody path, that would eventually end either in your early death or in pushing someone else to take your path and seek revenge on you."
The more you talked, the lower his brows were furrowing to the point he was staring at you under the dark shade of his frowning face. His face was almost distorted - switching from extreme emotions of sadness and grief to anger and aggression, his whole expression was now twisted in an almost inhuman grimace, a mixture of all.
"None of them are innocent", he huffed, his jaw working, "They were all enjoying a carefree life, because of the sacrifice of my brother... and even then, they still called him a traitor."
There were no words of rebuttal you could offer. You didn't know his life in the village, nor how the people there behaved. Perhaps, the people living there were monsters, who lacked both heart and soul. But weren't they like that everywhere? You may have lived alone and detached from society, but you had enough contact with traveling ninjas - both rogue and village warriors - to know that they were all often fighting for the same cause, it was just their ideas of how it could be achieved that differed.
"And is that something that he would wanted?"
The man lifted his knee and rested his arm on top of it. He seemed to contemplate your question, the muscles on his face twitching every few seconds.
"No", the truth came out as a disappointed sigh. His fingers clenched and you could hear his teeth gritting, before he looked at you with cold eyes.
"But I am not him! I won't repeat the same mistakes!"
Holding his gaze felt almost like staring into the eye of a brewing storm. The determination that he radiated hinted that this is was just the beginning - he still had more hate and more anger to give to the world.
"Yet you seem to repeat your own mistakes over and over", the challenge was bold and even he seemed taken aback. Sasuke rarely got people opposing him - other than Naruto, who always had to have a contrasting opinion - but usually his ideas were met either with encouragement or with silence. His own team was either too scared or too busy with their own worries to question him and his motives, often just nodding their heads at whatever he said.
A dry chuckle left his lips before he rubbed his eyes with his fingers. Every time he came he was met with the comfort of silence, your bond built entirely on the feeling of the safety he felt every time he visited. Now he wondered if that bond was even real - never had he expected that you would actually talk so much, let alone NOT support him.
He imagined that he would just come here, you would make him his favourite tea... and he didn't know what he was thinking when he came here. He didn't plan to tell you any of the truth he learned about his clan's death and Itachi, yet the sentences just kept spilling out of his body, almost like he had no control over it.
"What do you know?", he scoffed, giving you a mocking look, "You live here alone in a cabin in the middle of nowhere."
Sasuke suddenly leaned forward, his eyes narrowing.
"What exactly do you know about the world or even about living? The gravest mistake you probably made was to put too much water in your stupid tea. You know nothing about pain or the real world out there! You know nothing about having everything taken away from you!"
Your expression hardened. You held his furious stare, bravely accepting his poisonous words, which cut deeper and deeper into your soul. Once he finished talking, his breath was rigid once again.
"You will be no different than them", you stated blankly and the man grumbled in response, "The people who pushed your brother to commit these crimes. And I know deep down, you realise that too... Because somewhere out there there is a little kid, who just like you will one day waste his whole life chasing you, dreaming of punishing you, till they become just like you. And the cycle will continue."
His eyes were now back to his original onyx colour, yet the burning sensation they brought to your insides was just the same.
"I didn't come here for you to offer me lessons of morality."
"Why did you come then?"
No answer.
"I offer you nothing, but my honesty", you continued, standing up from your seat, "If you are here to seek support and encouragement for your plans of destroying the lives of thousands of innocent people, you are in the wrong place."
It was definitely a mistake visiting you. He should've known better. Why you, of all people, would understand him?
Grabbing his stuff, he followed your figure into the kitchen. You seemed unbothered by his looming presence behind you, instead focusing on washing the two empty cups. Once you were done, you just rested your hands on the counter, facing the big kitchen window that overlooked the forest. If it wasn't for the faint breathing sound, you would have thought he had left.
"There is light inside you, Sasuke", you finally said, "And no matter how hard you try to fight it, it is there. Don't try to kill it! Use it and spread it in order to bring the change you want to see."
"You don't know me!"
"Maybe not as much as I would like", you shrugged your shoulders, your eyes still gazing at the trees whose branches danced elegantly under the wind, "But I know if you were really that heartless, as you like me to think, you would've drawn that katana you rest your hand on a long time ago."
Sasuke moved his fingers away as if the handle of his weapon suddenly burned his skin and his head dropped low. How did you know, when your back was facing him the whole time?
Before he could raise his question, you started walking toward the door, waving your hand after you.
"Come!"
Not leaving any time for an answer, your form was already outside by the time he could register your simple command and follow it. He was not one to do what others told him to, but his body seemed to act on its own, his steps echoing after yours before his mind could protest.
The man found you sitting on your front steps, a place where you and he have shared countless late nights, just gazing at the sky above you. Like a habit, he sat next to you, easing into the comfort of your old routine without further questioning.
"This area was a village back when my parents were children. It was a small one - only a handful of farmers and herb gatherers", Sasuke looked at you in surprise, before scanning the area. He had never paid attention to the surroundings of your home, noting only the existence of a forest on the right and a large meadow on the left. Now, on a closer inspection, he could see the remaining stones and paths, which were half-covered by moss and too strategically placed around to be just random rocks.
There were remaining memories of buildings now long gone.
"My grandmother always said that our ancestors were tasked with the responsibility to restore what the Great Nations destroyed", you continued, bringing his attention back to you, "Where the ninja waged war, we followed to take care of the land and bring it back to life. Where the villagers left burned forests after they sought new places to build, we moved to these places to protect the balance between the human world and the natural one."
Sasuke listened patiently, his brows furrowed in confusion. Where were you getting with this story? And more importantly, where were all these people you talked about?
Almost like you've read his mind, your head turned toward him with a small sad smile on your lips.
"Our communities have been destroyed dozens of times and they rebuilt themselves just as many. This village was destroyed before I was even born by a conflict between the Land of Wind and the Land of River, one which had nothing to do with the hard-working people who were guilty only of trying to take care of the forest and wildlife", you looked towards your crossed fingers in your lap, suddenly overwhelmed of the sad destiny your family must have suffered.
"There is no greater sin than the arrogance of a man blinded by revenge. Shinobi keep waging wars with each other, each drop of blood they spill being with price of at least one innocent life. And they keep destroying, blinded by their hate, claiming that they only want to "save the world"", suddenly grabbing his arm, you pointed at the trees with your other hand, before dragging it across the air to the meadow, "But look!"
The onyx eyes followed the movement of your finger, before they rested on your face unimpressed.
"Look at what? Trees and grass?"
You huffed at his words, rolling your eyes.
"You are blind, Sasuke!", your forefinger poked his temple a few times and you could feel him stiffen under your touch, "You watch, but you don't see! It is not just trees and grass!"
When he offered no other reply than a small curling of his lips downwards, you gently grabbed his chin and forcefully turned it ahead again.
"It is life! A life born out of destruction, out of pain", your hand gestured around you once again, "The truth is the world doesn't need saving! It has existed for many, many years before us and will exist for many, many years after us. It is us, humans, that need saving... and not by more blood spilling or fear, or hate, or whatever other false values they try to teach you in your ninja academies."
His muscles finally started to relax under your touch, while he kept staring ahead, finally understanding the meaning of the words that you were saying. The slow realization that destroying Konoha is not the medicine for his bleeding soul was slowly creeping into his mind, suddenly making him confused and unsure.
"What if we can't be saved?", the heavy doubts that kept holding him down finally came to the surface, "What if we just... keep destroying?"
You looked at him in silence, before finally letting go of his arm. The sudden removal of warmth made him involuntarily shiver.
"We will keep destroying", you finally answered, pressing your tongue inside your cheek in thought, "I guess it is in our nature! But we will also rebuild. And we will learn from our past mistakes, making sure that we will not repeat them again."
Signing, you turned toward him, before reaching out for his hand again. All his life, Sasuke always thought he hated physical touch, but now it felt right. It felt like it was a silent promise that everything will somehow be alright.
"Do not go down the same path of hatred, Sasuke. Your destination will keep being the same, no matter how hard you try to avoid it", the corners of your lips curved slightly upwards, "Your pursuit for a better world is noble, but you can't do it alone! The same way this forest and meadow did not just pop in one day by themselves - it took years for them to grow, helped by bees, the birds, and even the wind and the rain... They all did their own part. The same way you need to do yours, alongside your friends."
The silence that followed was long, yet comfortable. His fingers wrapped around your palm, keeping your hand in his, while his mind considered the truth you just spoke. There was a part inside of him - the one that was still hurt and crying - that wanted to convince him that it was all just an empty talk. That he should not give up what he already started.
Another part, however, what seemed to be a louder one and for some reason sounded a lot like his brother's voice in his head, was agreeing with you, shifting the perspective he was looking from.
A long time passed till he spoke again.
"Promise me", there was no trace of anger on his face anymore, just tiredness, "That you will always be clear and honest with me."
You couldn't help the small smile that formed on his lips.
"I promise."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two years have passed since the end of the war and Sasuke was once again on the road, this time accompanied by Sakura. Their final destination was unclear, but the first stop was already set in his mind - the cottage sitting on a hill between the borders of the Land of Wind and the Land of Rivers. He has not seen you since that night you opened his eyes to what is really important, but the thought of you never left his mind.
The woman next to him, who still had an unclear status between a teammate and friend, kept trying to make him share where were they going, but was often met either with just silence or with the simple explanation of "someone important". The description make her a bit uneasy, wondering who could have such an impact on Sasuke to want to check on them first thing after he was allowed to leave, but she did not question further, still unsure of how far the man's boundaries lie.
Once they got to the hill, however, her uneasiness grew.
"Sasuke, there is nothing here", she said, looking around the vast field that bordered a forest nearby, "Are you sure that person lived here? Maybe they moved?"
The man did not reply, his body being frozen in place. You were gone, the house was gone, it was just wild nature. He suddenly tensed, once he felt Sakura's hand laying flat between his shoulder blades and running small circles on top of the clothed skin.
Just like you did that night.
Sasuke made a few steps further, before kneeling and touching the ground. While looking the same as the rest at first glance, the grass covering the area where he vividly remembered your house being seemed different... almost greener, yet smaller.
A small parchment of paper poked out of the dirt next to his fingers and he carefully lifted it, revealing a burnt part of the world map that hung on your wall once. The majority of it was gone, but he could clearly make out the names of the Land of Wind, The Land of Rivers, and the Land of Fire. Right in the middle, was a small drawing of a few houses - an indication of where your community once resided. Where you once were.
Sakura peered over his shoulder, looking at the piece of paper with interest.
"There still don't seem to be any indication for a building being here", she noted, before kneeling next to him and caressing the grass with her fingers, "This part of the field was grown by someone. Look, it is a different shade and size from the rest! It is like someone tried to cover the area."
Sasuke stood up, eyes still focused on the piece of paper. There was one, just a brief pencil line, that started from the drawn houses and continued up, till it ended at the burnt end. The man has stared at least a hundred times at the map in your house and he could swear he has never seen this line on it.
"You must have used it to plan where to leave next", he thought to himself. Because deep down he knew you were not dead - everything was left too perfect, including planting seeds in the place which you used to occupy, for him to believe you had met your end.
No, you had to be somewhere out there, rebuilding what shinobi like him have destroyed during the war.
He turned his head toward the sun, watching it slowly dip beyond the horizon. His fingers put the paper in his pocket, before he turned to Sakura, informing her they have to go and find an inn before it gets too dark.
Some people leave your life just as unexpectedly as they show up. They offer nothing but distant memories of shared late evenings and cold tea, which soon make you question your sanity and if they were ever real at all.
And for Sasuke, such person was you.

I took a deep breath as I walked into the library, trying to calm my nerves. Today was another tutoring session with Ethan, one of the jock's from school. I had been helping him with his history homework for the past few weeks, and despite our very different social circles, we had become quite good friends. We started talking when our History teacher put us together for an oral presentation about the Roman Empire, about how it was founded. When we started working on it, Ethan immediately noticed how much of an History nerd I am, which at first, I was kind of scared of, since he's a stereotypical jock that could make fun of me for knowing so much about "old dudes in dresses".
But, to my suprise, he was more impressed than anything and quite friendly. We clicked the moment I noticed how much he tried to help, even if he didn't understand anything. Our presentation was a success; 18/20, that's when he asked to be his tutor. My friendship with Ethan became quite good, I grew more and more attached to him, which seemed to be causing some problems with Ted, problems that I didn't get why even started.
He just grew more distant and cold towards me, while Bill stayed the same so it really is personal. So his new attitude explains why, right now, it's so awkward between us. I told him I couldn't eat with him and Bill because I promised to help Ethan during lunch, which ended in Ted insisting to, at least, make the walk to the library with me. Of course I said yes, I missed hanging out with him too, but maybe I would have said no if I knew how silent he would be....
As Ted and I continued walking down the stairs, I noticed him staring at me with a look of concern so, I took this opportunity to break the uncomfortable silence. "What's wrong, Ted?" I asked, trying to figure out what was going on. "You've been quiet all the way. Which, coming from you, is really concerning."
"Y/N, I don't like you hanging out with Ethan all the time." Ted blurred out, looking down.
"What? Why not?" I asked, surprised by his sudden change in behavior. Where is this coming from?
"He's a jock, dude."
"Oh." I said, understanding. "Ted, you really don't have to worry about this, he's actually really nice ! Nicer than I would've thought too." I smiled at Ted, to no avail; he still refused to look back at me.
"You're supposed to be hanging out with us, not him...We're your friends," He mumbled, his tone turning accusatory.
"I know you guys are my friends, Ethan just needs my help. He's failing History class and I'm the only one who can help him." I explained, hoping that he would understand. "Also, I'm allowed to have other friends. You're not the only guys I can help with History, you know."
"You're spending all your time with him! We don't get to hang out anymore !" Ted protested. "We also need your help dude for, like, History stuff..." He rubbed the back of his neck, walking farther away from me.
"I'm sorry, Ted, but I have to help him. I promise I'll make time for us too !" I assured him, hoping to ease his worries but by the look on his face, none of what I was saying was comforting him.
"Fine..." Ted sighed, his frustration evident. "Just make sure you don't forget about us. We miss hanging out with you dudette."
"I won't forget about you, Ted. You're both my best friends !" I said, giving him a reassuring smile while gently rubbing his arm up and down. "You're also too loud to forget."
He laughs, making my cheek redden slightly. Finally, here's the Ted I know ! He stops suddenly once we arrive in front of the library.
I look up at him with a shy smile. "I should go." I say, quieter than intended.
He simply waves at me before turning around, walking away, way too quickly. As I watch him go, I feel something tug at my heart, some sort of longing. I sigh, going in, ready to help Ethan.
As the days went by, I noticed that Ted was becoming more and more distant. He would barely talk to me and when he did, it was always about how much he missed hanging out with me. I tried to reassure him that I still cared about him and Bill, but it didn't seem to make a difference, no matter what I said. A few days ago, he commented about how I lied when I said I would make time for them. I didn't respond, not knowing what to say to that. He's usually so carefree, I wasn't expecting such an attitude from him, it took me by surprise. We haven't talked since...As I was walking to my next class, Ethan caught up to me in the hallway, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Hey, Y/N, you free tonight? I need some help with my homework !" he asked, flashing me a smile.
"Sure, Ethan. I'll meet you in the library after school." I replied, feeling a twinge of guilt for not spending more time with Ted and Bill, by accepting his offer without thinking twice. Maybe I was getting a little too attached to Ethan.
"Wait, do you have your Spanish class today?" He asked, smirking. "Because my deutsch teacher isn't here."
"Oh no, she's absent too!" We laugh at that realisation. "Well, I guess we can study right now then."
He comes next to me, taking my bag from my shoulders. "Hey !" I gasp, surprised. "You have to stop doing that, I already told you I can carry my bag myself."
"And I told you I can also carry your bag Y/N !" He winks at me, making me roll my eyes. "You're helping me for free so this is my way of paying you." He replies, walking shoulder to shoulder with me.
"What a gentleman..."
I took a deep breath to calm myself as I walked into the library with Ethan, still laughing from what he said. Today was another day I spent doing a tutoring session with Ethan, instead of hanging out with Bill and Ted.
I felt a heavy gaze on me as soon as we entered so, I looked around, until I saw Ted sitting at a table with Bill, both of them staring at me. Bill smiled when I noticed them while Ted just hung his head low. I turn around to Ethan, asking him to take a table for us. After he left, I took another deep breath, preparing myself for whatever mood Ted was in. "Hey guys," I said, walking over to their table. "What's up?"
"Nothing much dude !" Bill said, grinning. "Just waiting for you to show up, we were gonna go grab some pizza's and slushies !"
Ted didn't say anything, just focusing on his fidgety fingers. I frowned, feeling a pang of guilt for how he felt. "I'm sorry, guys. I can't today. I have a tutoring session with Ethan, his test is next week. He barely remembers when the Cold War was so we have a lot of work to do !"
Ted's head snapped up at the mention of Ethan. "Again ? You're always hanging out with him. Don't you have any time for us dude?"
I felt my face flush, taken aback by his tone. There it was again... "I'm sorry, Ted. I'm just trying to help him out. It's not like we're doing anything wrong." I clutched my arm, trying to stay calm. "We talked about this already; I'm helping him, he needs my help."
"Maybe he's using you for your, like, brain dude." He looked back down. "You don't know..."
I bristled, feeling defensive. "He's a nice guy, Ted. And I can be friends with whoever I want." I crossed my arms. "Why are you so angry about this ? You're usually so chill about everything, why is this specific thing getting to you so much ?"
"Yeah dude, what's with the attitude?" Joined Bill, just as confused as me. "Be nicer to the babe."
Ted's jaw clenched as he stood up abruptly. "Fine. Do what you want. Just don't expect me to sit around waiting for you all the time." He paused, looking at both of us with wide eyes. "I'm hungry anyways."
He stormed out of the library, leaving Bill and me staring at him in shock.
"What the hell was that about?" Bill muttered, looking up at me.
I shook my head, feeling just as confused as him.
"I don't know. He's just been acting weird lately." I sigh, rubbing my hand down my face. "Since I started to help Ethan he's like that... I don't understand why tho."
"Maybe he's jealous," Bill suggested, raising an eyebrow.
I scoffed. "Jealous? Of what?"
"Of Ethan," Bill responded, shrugging. "You guys have been spending a lot of time together. Maybe Ted feels left out, I don't know." Bill smiled knowingly at me. "I mean, you did walk in here laughing while he was carrying your bag, dude."
"I, what ?" I think about it for a moment, still shaking my head. "Why would he mind about that ? Ted never carried my bag before..."
I rolled my eyes, but deep down, I knew that Bill was right. Ted had always been a little possessive of me, I just had never thought it was anything serious. We just always had each other so, I simply thought he was afraid I would leave for the more popular kids, maybe it's deeper than that... I look at Bill for an instant, noticing his open notebook.
"Hey, you want to study with me and Ethan ?" I asked, smiling. "I could help you with the Charlemagne chapter."
Bill face immediately lightened up. "It would be most excellent dudette !"
The next week, I had another tutoring lesson scheduled with Ethan, as always. He had his test in two days so this was THE moment to study. It's been days since I saw Ted, I had glimpse of him sometimes in the hallways, he would walk past me after quickly glancing my way. I tried to not overthink it but it was hard, I was missing him an awful lot... Not seeing it everyday of every minute just reminded me how much I like him, how bad my crush on him is.
As I walked into the library to join Ethan who sat at our usual table, I saw Ted sitting alone, looking dejected as always. With my heart starting to pound, I walked up to him, hating how our last conversation ended. The moment I approached his table, he looked up before quickly adverting his eyes, sitting up straight.
"Hey, Ted, what are you doing here?" I asked, kind of surprised to see him here of all places. He usually never hangs out in the library expect if we have to study, he seems to be here quite a lot lately.
"I thought I'd surprise you and come help you tutor Ethan..." Ted said, a hint of bitterness in his voice. "Bill told him you helped him after, you know."
"Really? That's great, Ted!" I said, genuinely happy to see him and especially hear him say that. "Oh yeah, it's great !" I grasped his hand without thinking, dragging him to me and Ethan's table. When he noticed us approach, Ethan smiled nicely. "What's up?" he asked while Ted sat on the chair next to me. "You're Theo, right?" Ethan asked, putting his fist in front of him.
"Ted." He responded simply, fist bumping Ethan's hand with hesitation.
"Right, Ted, my bad man."
"He's really bad with names." I murmured, trying to ease the atmosphere. " Especially Napoléon Bonaparte, he cannot remember his name even if his life depended on it..."
"Hey, that French guy as a hard name ok !" Replied Ethan, his hand up in surrender.
"Napoleon ?" Repeated Ted, before turning to me. "Oh the little angry French dude ?"
Ethan brust out laughing at that, earning us a shush from the librarian. We giggled quietly, Ted shoulders relaxing lightly and is usual smile finally appaering again.
"Guys, guys, let's focus ok ? The test is in two days !" I say in the most neutral voice possible, not succeeding to stop my growing smile from appearing at Ted's one. "Ok, so what famous battle did Napoléon Bonaparte loose ?"
Three hours later, we finally get out of there, sighing loudly. Ethan's leave's us quickly, having a football practice, leaving me and Ted alone in front of the library. I quickly glance at him but feel heat rise to my cheeks when I see that he was already looking at me, a big smile on his lips.
"You were right dudette ! Ethan is a nice dude !" He pat's my shoulder. "He as a most excellent humour."
I laugh, nudging Ted shoulder with mine. "Told you." I respond, adjusting my bag on my shoulder, groaning.
"I can carry it if you want !" Before I can even reply, he takes it from me and slings it over his available shoulder. "There ! Now we're ready to go !"
"Why do you all think I can't carry my own bag ?!" I complain, while catching up with Ted who already started walking. I stop my thoughts for a moment, thinking back on what Billy said to me a few days ago. I look back at Ted who's still smiling, moving his head to the beat of an invisible song. That's when it hits me, finally. I stop in my track, also stopping Ted by putting my hand on his arm. "What's up dude ?" He asks, turning around to face me. "Y/N ?"
"You were jealous of me and Ethan." I whisper, realising it as I say it. "But, not because you were afraid of losing me as...a friend."
Ted eyebrows furrow, confusion written all over his face. "What do you mean?"
"You were jealous, yes ?" I ask, looking up at him. "Be honest."
He's hesitant for a moment, his cheeks reddening slightly. "I mean, yeah...like, kinda. I was afraid he was, you know, mean and stuff." He shrugges, his gaze looking at everything but me. "Turns out he's nice ! And his exam is in two days, so you'll be free again !"
"Ted..."
"Yes ?" He responds, looking at me again, his smile fading when he see's my expression. "Y/N ?"
"Are you..." I gulp, feeling my hand starting to shake. "Ted, I have to admit something to you. I don't know if I'm reading what's happening in the wrong way but I have to try, just in case I'm right." His brows furrow again, now he looks even more lost than before. "Give me my bag, just in case I'm wrong so that I can run away quickly." I chuckle nervously.
"What ?" He laughs quickly "Why would you ran away dude ?"
"I like you." I blur out, looking him dead in the eyes. "Not in a you're my best friend way but in a I want to be way more than your best friend way." I quickly swallow, feeling my courage fade. "I mean, not super mega best friend way either. Romantic way, like couples." I search his eyes. "Ted ?" I ask, my heart hammering in my chest. "Please, say something..."
"Woah dude..." He whispers, taking his head in his hands. "DUDE !"
I jump at his sudden yelling but can't help a laugh when I see him jumping around, punching the air yelling dude and woah multiples time. He suddenly stops, looking at me with the widest smile I've ever seen him have.
"DUDE !" He yells again, running towards me, lifting me in his arms while I yelp.
"Ted ! Oh my god, what are you doing ?!" I laugh while he spins me around. "I'm going to fall, I'll fall !" I breath out, felling my body slip away from his arms. "Ted, what's happening with you ?" I laugh, out of breath while he puts me down, his arms still holding me close to him.
"What's happening ? Dude, you told me you're in love with me !" He responds quickly, his voice trembling. "The most bodacious babe just told me she likes me ! Like, in a romantic way !"
I push him a bit to look at him, surprised. "Wait, does that mean..."
He cuts me off. "Of course it does ! Why would I spin you around ?"
"Do you even know yourself ? You could do it at any given opportunity!" I laugh, in disbelief. "So, I was right, you were jealous of Ethan."
Ted lower his head, his hair covering his face to hide his shamefulness. "Yeah... I mean, the guy's has everything. He's popular, handsome, nice and a jock. Bonus point for being funny !"
I smile tenderly, taking his face in my hands to put his gaze back into mine.
"True. He's veeeery handsome." Ted huff, trying to look away but I turn his face again to make him look back at me. "But I prefer guys with brown hair and eyes, who wear silly jackets with a big smiling face behind, rather than a sport's one. I also prefer guys with a blond friend called Bill. You want me to continue or you got it ?"
I feel the heat radiating from his face on my fingers, if seeing how red he was wasn't enough. We only look at each other for a moment, letting everything sink in.
"I really want to kiss you." He breaths out. "Can I kiss you ?"
"After you apologies."
"I'm sorry for being an evil dude. I shouldn't have ignored such a babe just because of a nice jock guy."
I giggle when he gives my cheek a quick peck. "And I'm sorry for not taking the time to hang out with you and Bill, I should have. I swear that from this day on, I will no matter what !" I finish my speech by returning his quick peck, making him giggle. "Now you can kiss me handsome."
He blushes at the pet name before crashing his lips on mine without a warning, making me yelp in surprise. Quickly, I compose myself and slide my hands to his hair to deepen the kiss while they move in rhythm with one another. It's clumsy, so we smile and giggle through it, he even apologies some times which I always respond with a simple it's ok before pulling him back for more. He doesn't have to be jealous, because no matter how messy and inexperienced our kisses are, I only want his.
"This was the most excellent kiss ever !"
