#if he’s a secret villain I won’t survive

Scar sits on the ground, back against the “Succeed” button, and looks at the book, open in his hands.
Win Secret Life.
That’s what it says. That’s all.
He laughs quietly to himself.
He looks up at the Secret Keeper, looming over him.
“Now I’ve gotta hand it to you,” he says, waving the book at it. “This? This is funny.”
He looks thoughtful for a moment.
“I wonder if I could turn this in again? I mean, I am the only one who’s alive! I’m pretty sure that makes me the winner by default, even if I haven’t killed any new people since last time I pressed the button. Wouldn’t you agree?” He grins. “I could get so many hearts.”
A moment passes.
Looking up at the featureless stone face, his eyes, oddly enough, soften.
“…Nah,” he says. “I wouldn’t want to survive like that. Making deals is one thing, but that- it wouldn’t be skill. That would just be bad form.”
He tucks the book in his pocket, and glances over his shoulder, at the ravine with the nether portal in it. The place where Pearl died.
“We go out together,” he murmurs. “Together, or not at all.”
He shakes himself a little, as though clearing his head, and turns back to the statue.
“Are you a villain too?” he asks curiously. “It is really dark over here, and I’m sure there was sun a minute ago. That would be a very villainly thing to do, you know, blotting out the sun. I wish I could do that!”
He laughs again.
Then stops. Sighs.
“Is this supposed to be a punishment?” he asks. “Or a reward? It’s really hard to tell! Although maybe it’s obvious, and it’s just me.” He shrugs. “That does happen sometimes!”
He smirks. “Whichever one it’s supposed to be, it’s probably not going to last very long, so prepare yourself for that. And also I don’t think it’s going to be very different to how it was before everyone died, really? In fact maybe it’ll be better!” He perks up. “Yeah! Try and make me blow up people’s stuff now! They won’t care! They’re dead! In fact, maybe I will do that, it seems like it might be fun! What are they gonna do about it?”
He pushes himself up, and- pauses.
“If you are a villain,” he says, looking down at the floor. “Did you mean to be one?”
He stays there for several seconds, almost as if he actually expects an answer this time.
“Do you think it matters? Whether you meant to be one or not?” he asks, voice very quiet. “Most people think it doesn’t, you know.”
“…I think it does, though.”
He pulls out the book again. Stares at it for a while.
“I could go fix up Trader Scar’s, if I wanted,” he says.
“I could steal everyone’s stuff. I could fill in all the holes round here, make it real pretty. I could do whatever I wanted.”
He glares at the book.
“You know what I wanted the most, though. You know what the one thing was that I really wanted. And you could never just let me have it, could you? Not until it was already too late.”
“Would it really have broken your game so much if you’d let me have friends?”
He looks up, then, and tucks the book away once more. “I won’t be long,” he says. “Stay here.”
And he leaves.
The sun has already set by the time he returns, not that it makes much of a difference, near the Secret Keeper.
“Mine broke,” says Scar, “so I needed to find a replacement.”
He pulls out a flint and steel, lights a fire on the ground, and throws the book into it.
It burns.
“Ok!” says Scar. “I think we’re even.”
He nods, decisively.
“I’m gonna go and do whatever I want, now.”
He grins. He eyes, though red, are clear.
“For however long it lasts, I’ll do whatever I want.”

I know Félix’s villain/hero name comes from the Greek myth of Argos, the hundred-eyed watchful giant who was killed by Zeus and then immortalized in the peacock’s tail feathers, and all of that fits quite nicely, from the peacock tie-in to the “keeping guard” to the enemy of the most powerful guy around you know?
but half the time I hear his name my brain mishears it as “Argots,” which is pronounced the same way and means secret code languages used by underground groups to communicate in public when they don’t know who can be trusted, like bands of thieves but also like the slang code words queer people use to talk about being gay that will only be understood by other people in the community, or even like “i like your shoelaces” type code phrases, just , all these codes used to identify yourself only to members of the group and pass on messages that won’t be understood by the judgmental/dangerous public because people will always find a way to survive and keep community alive and help each other even if it’s dangerous to do so,
and i think about how he doesn’t actually say that anyone is a sentimonster in that episode, the implication only works if you already know and suspect and have been thinking about it, and how there’s just this awe from him when he sees kagami and he’s like “you’re like me” and the scene where theyre the only ones in the ballroom with masks off and the hiding in plain sight and the metaphors hinting at things and i just… i don’t know what to do with these brainworms i have about linguistics puns i just have a lot of feelings about him

THE STRIKER AND ALASTOR ASPEC4ASPEC RELATIONSHIP SAGA
off the back of this post
@justletmeon12 this ought to exist outside of notes honestly:
justletmeon12 said: Now I suddenly want them to meet in S2. They hate each other because everyone in Hell hates everyone else when they meet, and whatever convoluted plot has caused the crossover has them briefly on the same side. Striker starts griping about everyone making it seem like a sex thing, because most of life ISN’T SEX, and Alastor looks at him like he’s the only rational person in Hell and offers to buy him a drink later. justanotherhh said: @justletmeon12 striker and alastor go out for drinks and it’s absolutely chill and theres no tension whatsoever and they both sigh in relief (and then they go on their villainous ways, content that they can try to kill each other next time without anyone making it weird!) justletmeon12 said: @justanotherhh The next time someone (definitely not Vox, no sirree) wants to put a hit out on the Radio Demon, Striker volunteers to do it cheap, because succeed or fail, at least it won’t be awkward. justanotherhh said: @justletmeon12 sdfghjgfdsdfhj alastor and striker having a sort of chill “we can be enemies who try to kill each other” situation that makes everyone around them ??????????? because their framing for relationships is so alloromantic and they don’t understand this 5d galaxy brained dynamic at all justletmeon12 said: @justanotherhh “Sooo, are you two…” [awkward, vaguely obscene gesture] “Et tu, Angel Dust?” “That tears it. Free booze isn’t worth it. Next time, we’re getting drinks somewhere nobody knows either of us.” “Ha! Good luck with that, Strikering. There isn’t a bar in the city where I’m not a regular or banned!” justanotherhh said: @justletmeon12 ET TU ANGEL DUST!!!!!!!!!! cannot tell if it’s harder being aspec irl or in hell 😂😂😭😭 justletmeon12 said: @justanotherhh Well, murder isn’t an option in real life… justanotherhh said: @justletmeon12 *alastor grinning shiftily* … noooo…. sure…. isn’t……………. justletmeon12 said: @justanotherhh (I was hoping you’d do that)
@creepysora and I were also talking about how in all likelihood Striker wouldn't really be able to kill Alastor, because of the sheer power-difference (but, you never know... Niffty killed Adam after all), but it just becomes their way of hanging out. "FINALLY violence that's understood on both parties sides to be completely un-erotic and non-romantic!"
creepysora: I keep thinking that veeeeery slowly, Striker taking jobs to "assassinate" (unsuccessfully) the Radio Demon just start to morph into excuses to hang out with someone who Gets It. Neither knows how this happened. They start getting breakfast before trying to kill each other. Maybe this overlord can survive the class war actually. Mutually "hes useful so I cant kill him yet" delusion. Do they become better people through this? No. They encourage each other to kill people hitting on them. But everyone else surely is unhappy about this weird and unexpected development. not friends not enemies not lovers not rivals not a qpr but a secret fifth thing (aspecs desperate to connect with someone like them)
it's a good thing they both enjoy murder and violence so much, really gives them something to talk about

h ghe hheh,,, for the drabble/headcanon event,,, you are the villain of an otome game and you either die tragic deaths or suffer fates even worse in all the routes. you reincarnate one day with this knowledge and decide to change your destiny, whilst doing so you accidentally catch the interest of ace and deuce, two of the romanceable character, an they try to win your affection instead of the main heroine's
Event is still open for submissions here!
General things:
Since I do love my otome villainess manhwas, I’ll be basing this AU in a typical royalty setting!
You’ve played this game before, so you vaguely know the plot - but things are very different because you got isekaied before the canon game’s start point.
As such, the only logical thing to do is prepare for what will come next year, right? When your fate will truly be thrown into the hands of the storyline, and you’ll have to try your best to not end up dead.
Ace
No matter what world you were in, having money is one of the essentials if you plan to escape from the academy you’ll be enrolled in 1 year from now, where the game story starts to take place. You’ll need to pay for transport after all, and loose lips can only be sealed with an adequate amount of gold coins…
As the story’s villain, you do indeed have a wealthy noble background, however just relying on that won’t get you very far if you planned to survive on your own after running away. Thus the first thing you try to do is start connections within the merchant circle, and potentially expand to commissioning mercenaries.
Perhaps you could find one that’s skilled enough to be a hired bodyguard? That’d certainly be helpful in case one of the love interests tried to attack you to protect the protagonist… (Many things are up in the air at this point, so it can’t hurt to be flexible).
You’re exiting a tavern after a meeting when you bump into Ace - literally, as he pickpockets your pouch and walks away. If it wasn’t for the important magic trinket inside of it, you might not even have reached for said pouch to check if it was there and connected the dots, breaking into a chase after the thief.
You didn’t recognise Ace as himself at first (you didn’t manage to finish playing his route, though your friends loved to gush over him), and was surprised to find that he was the one that stole your belongings.
Suffice to say, by surprising Ace (calling out his brother’s name), you managed to tackle him to the ground and demand your items back.
Seeing as he didn’t just teleport away (a signature move he used to save the player once), you deduced that Ace hasn’t had his magic training yet, and seemed to be living as a thief before being found by his master? He was dressed well though, so you believed there might be more to the story than meets the eye.
What would your friends have called this… ah, a secret route? Or was it a DLC? Anyways, you supposed that finding out more about Ace wouldn’t hurt your survival prospects, thus you threw your pouch of coins back to him after you retrieved the most important item inside.
You’d frequent the city after all. If Ace is as curious as you remembered, you’d be meeting him many more times after this even without a contract or deal.
He’s surely wondering how you knew his brother of all people, and will only grow curiouser when his brother tells him he’s never heard of anyone like you~
Deuce
Honestly speaking, Deuce was one of your comfort faves when you played the game. So when you see sign-ups open for a knight apprenticeship that you recognised the name of, you’re quick to write your name onto the form with bated breath.
All you knew is that Deuce trained here under the same master. You weren’t sure if he was still here though since the storyline is only a year away - he might’ve graduated already and was preparing for the academy’s entrance exam.
You later learn that Deuce is your senior as you spot him during a training drill, and he surprises you by flashing you a friendly smile. When you’re practicing alone (modern muscles were not meant to train like this), he walks over and you think you can hear your heartbeat in your ears, only for the anticipation to shatter as he offers you a drink.
Right. He doesn’t know who you are, and you’re in the villain’s body of all people - Deuce probably just wanted to say hi because he’s just that nice, not because you caught his eye or anything.
(You actually did catch his attention; you’re a member of higher nobility, but despite how you could easily afford private mentors you chose to train here instead. Deuce gives you the benefit of the doubt and assumes you’re hard-working, since why else would you be running drills even after your session ended?)
He sees a bit of himself in you (the desire to improve quickly), but advises you to not push yourself too hard since he’s hurt himself before by overworking his body. Yet when Deuce invites you to have lunch together with his friends something irks you at the back of your mind. Despite your better judgment, you let it slip from your mouth:
You ask him if he’s here out of pity, since it’s evident that your peers have been avoiding you in light of your gaps in status. It comes out coldly and causes surprise to flicker through Deuce’s eyes, but he’s quick to smile and shake his head instead.
That might’ve been the case a moment ago, but your words are catching his interest; you seem to have something else lingering on your mind despite standing before him, and Deuce somehow feels inclined to offer his company to you.
Strange, it’s as if he was talking to someone he met a long time ago… Must be his imagination, right?
Additional thoughts/comments are at the end of my tags, if you're curious!
Commissions are also open for September if anyone's interested in AU type things like these 👉👈 (might take 2-3 weeks to write though, depending on wordcount and how busy I am!)

Ok, I'm curious mostly because of your Ecco fic. How do you see the Gotham villains as parents?
No one knows much I love discussing this idea except many @gabile18 who is present for most of my ramblings.
Sooo this might have to be a multi part ask?

🤡 Papa Jerome
So I believe with my whole heart he would try to be good father
Never saw himself as a parent but children and animals naturally gravitate toward him
Wears the name with pride.
Bandit Heeler Vibes
He REFUSES to be like his parents
Will even go straight for his kid(s)
That doesn’t mean they won’t end up with some new shiny toy, or other obviously stolen item of desire
Spoils them Rotten
Constantly talks about them will show photos it’s embarrassing
“Look at my baby 😭😭 aren’t they just amazing” shows albums of photos to hostages
Always present in their life. He’s very involved. (Whether they want it or not)
School drop offs are a must much to other parents and Jim’s dismay (Education is v important to him)
“I never had this chance I got dragged around a circus by my abusive alcoholic mother you’re going .”

Oh, you mean His Child? 🥹 (Eventually)
He DID NOT EVER want a kid, however it happens and he has to adapt and survive
Bourbon Dad.
He will quite drinking, but he picks up smoking
Baby's an iPad kid
Ecco will primarily care for them as a little little.
Him change a diaper? (No.)
He is very awkward around them.
BUT he gives them any and everything.
Has no parental instinct whatsoever.
His child is a SECRET.
Unlike Jerome who will gladly be public as a dad, Jeremiah keeps them well hidden in the bunker. He has his life to think about

👔 Father Jeremiah (Post Spray)
Oof.
There are so many thoughts here…
His love evolves into possession, an obsession to protect them.
If they had any freedoms before, they’re gone now. The kid is under constant surveillance. Always guarded.
They’re too precious to lose, too precious to be on their own
They’d never understand the complexities of what he’s trying to do for them. So, he HAD to lock them away.
Mother Gothel Mode ACTIVATE
“How is my flower today Hm? I brought you another book to add to your collection.”
ON THE FLIP SIDE
He could care less what happens to them.
It’s like a switch was flipped. He doesn’t feel a thing toward the child.
Regardless on how much they beg and plead that they need him, or love him
Unless, they had some special talent, or skill that he can exploit.
Then, he guesses you can stay, but stay out of his way until he needs you.
Oh, you don’t? You’re worthless to him and his plans, you could be canon fodder for all he cares.

Top 5 Scar Appearances
Tumblr media
Tomorrow is Halloween, everybody! Good news, bad news, WORSE news time: the bad news is that a very special month-long countdown I WAS planning to do in November isn’t ready yet. I’m going to try and get it done in time for either December or January. The WORSE news is that I also didn't have time to write a Halloween story special. :( The good news is that, since I don’t have those things to worry about, I now have a chance to present to you all a smaller list in commemoration. And, seeing as how Halloweentime is the “Season of the Villain” for Disney, and we’re still in the month of Disney’s 100th Anniversary…how about a list devoted to a lot of people’s favorite Disney Villain: Scar, from The Lion King. I’ve never been AS into Scar as a lot of other people I know are. I love him, make no mistake, but he’s never been my absolute favorite Disney baddy; he’s not even in my Top 10. However, do not misconstrue this as me thinking Scar is a bad character or even an unfit antagonist: there’s a very good reason he’s widely considered to be one of Disney’s greatest and most sinister evildoers. Many people name him as either their number one favorite, or at least somewhere in their Top 10; I’m an outlier there. You can’t blame anybody who does: Scar is one of those wonderful villains who is equal parts menacing and delightful. He does some of the absolute worst things any Disney Villain can do, which is saying a lot, yet it’s hard to completely hate him because he’s just such an entertainingly vile character - the secret formula that makes a lot of villains, especially those from Disney, so uniquely enjoyable. Despite his notoriety, Scar is surprisingly not a villain who makes a LOT of appearances beyond his film, and most of the ones he does make are relatively small. There are a lot of possible reasons for this, but whatever the cause, it does mean that making a full Top 10 for this list was very difficult. Ultimately, I decided to shorten things up and make this celebration of Scar a simple Top 5. Also, I’m just going to say it right now: I WON’T be including the 2019 Remake version of the Lion King anywhere on this list. This is for two reasons: a.) the remake sucks, Sucks, SUCKS, and b.) even if it didn’t suck, it doesn’t really do anything new or meaningfully different with Scar compared to the original, in my opinion. (Unless you count making him infinitely more boring.) With this in mind…I know it sounds sordid, but I think it’s time Scar be rewarded, and at last be given his dues! Be Prepared: these are My Top 5 Appearances of Scar (since the original Lion King).
Tumblr media
5. Kingdom Hearts.
As I’ve said many times before, Kingdom Hearts is quite possibly my favorite video game series of all time (alongside Castlevania), and Scar’s big appearance in the franchise was in my favorite game of the series, “Kingdom Hearts II.” You’d expect, therefore, for this to be in my Top 5…so the greater question is why the KH version gets the lowest billing. Well, first, let’s focus on the positives: Scar provides an awesome boss fight in the first visit to the Pride Lands, which essentially follows the footsteps of the original film, but with Sora and Co. inserted into the story. It’s also cool to think of Scar siding up with characters like Maleficent and Pete, since part of the reason he becomes a threat is due to his joining forces with them. I also really like the way the second visit to the Pride Lands plays out, in fact I like it more than the first visit: in that one, Simba is now King, but is haunted by the recurring reappearances of a shadowy “ghost” of Scar. This Ghost seems to pop up all over the Pride Lands, mocking Simba for his past failures and calling him a coward. It’s revealed that the mysterious Ghost of Scar is a lingering trace of Scar’s inner darkness, which feeds off of fear, and survives off of Simba’s doubts about his role as the King. Villains who have a legacy even after their gone are fascinating to me, and this is one of the best examples of such a thing I’ve ever seen. While I really love all these elements, one specific point drags this Scar down to the bottom: the voice. He’s played by James Horan, who does, to his credit, provide a near pitch-perfect impression of the great Jeremy Irons…but something about Horan’s performance feels like it lacks a lot of energy and direction. He’s honestly much better during the boss fight, providing the necessary aggression and intensity for the battle taunts and dialogue, but everywhere else in the game his work feels somewhat wooden to me. It’s a pity, because Horan is a fantastic actor, and I feel could have done so much better with the part…but, for whatever reason, the stars just weren’t in alignment. Still, this is ultimately a nitpick above all else, and KH still provides perhaps the most memorable appearance Scar has had in a video game to date.
Tumblr media
4. Lion King: The Musical.
While I didn’t feel the 2019 cinematic remake of “The Lion King” deserved credit on this countdown, I think the stage musical does. This is, once again, for two reasons: a.) the musical isn’t an abominable waste of time and brain cells, which the remake largely is. And b.) while the show basically follows the same story as the original film, and does include a lot of the dialogue and other elements you would expect, the Broadway-originating musical does do a few new things with the material. First of all, aesthetically, it has to use some very clever costuming, choreography, and staging to bring the African Savannah and its wildlife to visual existence onstage. Second of all, the musical does actually do a few new things with Scar, in particular, giving him a few extra scenes and songs absent from the film. The most notable is the infamous sequence called “The Madness of King Scar,” where the audience checks in on the villain after his hostile takeover. While there is a scene like this in the film, the musical takes more time to look at the situation, and gives it a musical number to accompany it, diving into the depravity Scar has fallen into as tyrant ruler of the Pride Lands, and indicating that his sanity is slipping just as the kingdom is crumbling around him. The Broadway version of “The Lion King” is one of the most popular musicals in the world, and has been brought to other countries and theaters worldwide, such as London’s West End. This is not to mention numerous touring companies! There’s even a “Junior” version of the show intended for younger performers to put on, typically for High Schools and community theatre productions. Scar has been played by some pretty big names in musical theatre over the years, accordingly, such as John Vickery (the original performer in the role) and Patrick Page (pictured here). Ultimately, the only reason the musical doesn’t get into the top three is because, aside from the fact it’s basically just a staged version of the original film, I feel it’s a show best experienced live, and I unfortunately have not had the proper pleasure of witnessing it in such a fashion. Hopefully someday that will change.
Tumblr media
3. The Lion Guard.
There is a LOT I could say about this show, just revolving around Scar alone, and I DO mean a LOT. It’s kind of hard for me to figure out where to begin. I will attempt to be as succinct as possible. “The Lion Guard” was a Disney Junior series that acted as a spin-off/official sequel to “The Lion King,” and covers the period of time between the end of the first movie, and the events of the earlier sequel film, “The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride.” The first season of the show was essentially a series of disconnected adventures, with the main characters - led by Simba’s son, Kion - having to protect the Pride Lands from a variety of antagonists. However, in Season 2, Scar was brought back, and became the main villain of the series until early in Season 3. (A new main antagonist, Makucha, became the primary rogue for the remainder of the show’s time.) Resurrected in the form of an angry, fiery spirit, dwelling in the bowels of a vast volcano, Scar is unable to do anything DIRECTLY to cause chaos for his rivals, but the phantom’s mind remains as cunning as ever. He thinks up an elaborate scheme to destroy the Pride Lands, vowing that if he cannot rule, no one shall. Instead of Jeremy Irons (or James Horan, or even Jim Cummings, who helped with singing duties in the original movie after Irons strained his vocal chords), Scar is voiced in the show by one David Oyelowo, who brings his own unique flair to the part while still carrying the mixture of foppishness and cruelty the original version had. The show gave us what are now considered the official origins of Scar, and while I have a few niggling issues with those origins, it did lead to some interesting story points for the show in its final season, as - much like in KH - Scar’s wicked deeds still have an effect even after his second defeat. Again, a villain with a legacy is a grand thing, and this is probably Scar’s biggest post-original-film outing, outside of direct adaptations of the same. “The Lion Guard,” in general, was a surprisingly well-crafted series; it went a little deeper and a little darker than most other Disney Junior shows have gone before or since. You might say it is the “Batman: The Animated Series” of Disney Junior…though how much that’s really saying is somewhat up to debate. Regardless, while neither Scar’s depiction nor the show as a whole were totally perfect, both have more than earned their placement in my Top 3.
Tumblr media
2. “Disney Villains: Scar” Comics.
Recently, Disney teamed up with Dynamite Entertainment - a comics company that I know best for publishing things like “The Shadow” - to produce a series of comic miniseries focusing on the stories of several of their greatest villains, all set in a time before the Events of the original films. Of all the ones I’ve read so far, Scar’s miniseries is by far the best. This simple four-part miniseries takes place in the time between Simba’s birth and…well…the rest of the movie. It tells the story of how Scar formed an alliance with the hyenas, and thus began to work out the machinations of his grand scheme for power. While this is an interesting premise on its own, what these comics do so beautifully, and why they take top-billing, is that they do something for Scar that, honestly, no other version has really achieved before: they humanize him. (Or…lionize him, I guess? Semantics.) While Scar is, of course, fully immersed in the shadows by this point, so to speak, the comic dives into his mind and his heart, as we see what really makes him tick. The way he’s written, and the way other characters rebound off of him, gives us a more empathetic and almost tragic look at the dark lion than anyone has really ever attempted. Past origin stories of Scar always depict him as a bad seed, even before getting his namesake wound and becoming the scoundrel we all know and love to hate. “The Lion Guard” indicated Scar already had a desire for power and glory before getting his scar, and an earlier story, “A Tale of Two Brothers” (now considered non-canon) was much the same. While this comic doesn’t describe Scar’s origins, per say, it actually makes you FEEL for him, as we get the feeling there WAS some good in him somewhere, and he DID have a chance to see the light. The tragedy of Scar, as the comic makes it out to be, is that he was so blinded with anger and jealousy, there was no way to save him: it wasn’t that he didn’t have a good side, it was that he SHUNNED that goodness in favor of his ambitions and his rage. That’s something no other version has honestly TRULY achieved, which is funny because, in my opinion, Scar is one of the easiest of the Disney Villains TO make into a sympathetic, or at least empathetic, character. This miniseries does that, but still makes sure to make it clear that Scar is too far gone to be anything but the bad guy…which, of course, is what we love him as best. I actually debated making this one number one…and considering what I DID end up making number one, I sincerely hope it won’t be considered blasphemy of the highest order that I did not…
Tumblr media
1. Leona Kingscholar, from Twisted Wonderland.
Okay, so…I had to fight with myself over whether or not I SHOULD make this lad and this game my number one. Because he’s not actually Scar HIMSELF, and therefore it felt like massive cheating to make him number one. After discussing the issue with a friend, they made a very simple and very good point: “I think Leona should be number one, because it’s been a long time since you’ve gone this crazy over a character.” I realized…yeah, that was correct, and therefore, even if I HAD placed Leona at number two, it wouldn’t have really been HONEST. For those who don’t know or have simply forgotten: “Twisted Wonderland” is a game that takes place in a parallel world, set in a school of dark magic called Night Raven College. The school is inspired by seven of the great Disney Villains, and many characters reference those villains. Scar is the villain who inspired the Savanaclaw dorm at NRC, and is seen in some flashbacks…but his main claim to fame here is the analogous character, Leona Kingscholar. Like Scar, Leona is the second prince of an African-styled kingdom ruled by leonine beings, but whose claim to the throne has been ruined by his nephew, after years of living in his older brother’s shadow. Also like Scar, Leona is sadistic, lazy, gluttonous, selfish, and while he absolutely can throw down in a physical fight, his true asset is his intellect. Leona lacks Scar’s elegant manners, but underneath his more beastly exterior, he’s a genius and a master strategist, who always has schemes within schemes (within schemes, sometimes). He’s also indicated to be one of the most powerful characters at NRC, second only to the Maleficent character, Malleus. Despite all these despicable elements, what separates Leona from his inspiration is the same as many other TW characters: he isn’t too far gone yet. While he resents his family, he actually does still care about them, and despite his at times downright narcissistic behavior, he genuinely cares for his kingdom as well. He’s not very nice, and he’s willing to go to some dangerous extremes to get what he wants, but he’s not pure evil the way Scar is often seen to be. It’s hard for me to say why I love this guy so much, but the fact is that I do. It’s probably going to be something a lot of people disagree with, but at the end of the day, he takes the cake at number one on this list. Whether it’s Scar or Leona…Long Live the King.

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! What a delightful and spooky Halloween week. As usual, this list is not comprehensive, but this is what stood out to me this week. Some spoilers ahead, in the shape of vibes~
🩸Hemophobia did NOT disappoint. My word. The strange disconnected way the story was told; the fact that the sermons were more coherent and clear than the action; the Extremely Teenage Teens. Man. I cannot wait to listen to this next episode.
🦀 THE SILT VERSES. Every day I think about Faulkner. The person he is. The apostle and the fool. Jeez louise. I can’t tell if he’ll save the faith or obliterate it and take everyone down with him. @thesiltverses
🌊 Modes of Thought In Anterran Literature - is that Felix Trench??? On the one hand, hearing a familiar voice does break the immersion a little, like the most unnerving part of this show is how real it feels; on the other hand, Felix did such a good job, the immersion break didn’t last long. This new character sucks, i love him.
👻 Palimpsest!!!! New palimpsest!!!! Easily one of my favorite single-narrator shows, and this one is set in the 1920s, which is one of my favorite historical periods. They’re also very good at a horrible subtle twist, so I can’t wait to hear more about this ghost.
😈 Kakos Industries is literally always good, but I really feel for Corin being like “PLEASE leave me alone on Halloween.” Man, this show is funny. Why isn’t it more popular. Please listen to Kakos Industries. They’re on hiatus, there’s no better time to catch up. @kakosindustries
🍔 Mayfair Watcher’s Society always knows how to get to me. It’s like, the absolute corruption of the Normal into something horrific and wretched is the point of the show, especially when it’s something you always suspected was messed up. Like a fast food job. I shudder.
🌲HALLOWOODS JEEZ. Mx Wellman did in fact try to kill me. I survived. I WISH SOME OTHER FOLKS HAD. @hellofromthehallowoods
❄️ Red Valley. Man alive. One of the things I love about this show is how there are no real heroes, but this season from the POV of the villains—the architects of the apocalypse, in a lot of ways. Creeps. It’s delicious. Today’s episode, watching Clive finally reaping what he sowed, was absolutely glorious. @redvalleypod
🦷 Welcome to Night Vale - HOBOY. Idk if the return of Kevin is going to be a plot point, but it’s the perfect idea for a Halloween ep. Chilling work as always, Kev! It’s also fun to listen to him seethe about his loss of power.
🅿️ Podcube is always a delightful treat, but this week had a fantastic little bit of sound design, which I’m told is this sound designer’s first attempt at such a thing. He did a great job! I love this show, everyone listen to PodCube. @podcube
👑 Malevolent: We’re Back To The Horrors. I’m honestly relieved. Arthur having friends and family is so scary, I keep waiting for something horrible to happen to them. And now something has! Which is not to say more terrible things won’t happen, but i feel like the other shoe has dropped. This is not a criticism at all, Harlan is so good at this.
🌞 I finished Fall of the House of Sunshine this week and…it made me cry? This goof goof show made me CRY? It really is just You Make Your Own Meaning The Musical, isn’t it? If this show had to have a moral, then “even if all you can do is something small, it matters” is a pretty good one. The fact that there was a moral at all is pretty miraculous. I’m going to go listen to the soundtrack a million times now.
🧛🏻‍♂️ Re: Dracula is coming to an end in just a few days and here is a secret: i haven’t heard these last few eps yet. Tal and Stephen finished working on them while I was in the thrall of New Job, so I get to hear their excellent sound work new with you. I am so excited for the final showdown, let’s GO. @re-dracula
🧟‍♀️ The Dead premiered this week! Go subscribe to it, it’s about to get REAL WEIRD. We did some table reads for the next story this weekend (and we have one more today!) and if you think zombies on a plane are scary…
Go check it out!
Now that all is well on the job front, I hope to get back to recording Inn Between soon, because I Want It To Exist. If you want to help us out or you just like what I got up to today, please drop by my ko-fi!

🌹 for Angae
🌹 - They're lonely/missing home. What do they do?
…………………………………………………
There’s nothing out of ordinary at Rosemary station, Angae continues to do his work as usual. However, despite not having an episode, Angae is visibly more detached than usual.
This is the last day of the month. Since Rosemary is a top-secret facility, they have to manage all the finance and administration work themselves or they will risk having information about their spending and organizational structure leaked out when submitting info to the defense finance accounting service.
North capital is considering putting Angae out of commission and have other general replace him, which would end in his neutralization considering his position in national threat. Seoltang is a literal doormat at this point, so his authority won't mean much at North capital and Noeu is still being suspected of multiple cases of corruption, so Angae had to find a way to survive on his own. Everything had to be extra perfect, after all losing his job mean losing his life which also means that Angae won't be going home tonight.
Last night Angae dreamed that he’s back home at Tulip Island which dug up a thought he tried to ignore. It’s fascinating that he still misses his home intensely even after 20 years had passed and when this kind of thing happens, he would simply live his day normally until the thought fade.
Gripping his pen tightly, he tells himself to stay focused. If he has an episode now, he won’t be able to finish his work.
Suddenly the light in his entire room flash in Morse code.
[Want some help with your asset report Secretary?]
In an annoyance, Angae leave his office. He walks straight to the west part of his office where the hallway light-no, the light of the entire base flickered in other set of morse code.
[I'm here to help if you just say the word]
Angae arrived at the jail area where they temporary keep threats that they capture in Area 21 until the law enforcement come pick these people up.
The rosemary guard salute at Angae as he appoarch one of the jail cells.
Angae: "Excuse me Hongcha, can you stop playing with the light?"
There is no reply, Hongcha is too focused on messing with the wire he manages to dig out from the electric door that he doesn’t notice Angae. Through the gap between each cell bar, Angae reach to tap Hongcha on his shoulder.
Hongcha jolted in disgust but still try to play it cool.
Hongcha: “Hey secretary, you should thank me for helping you cleanse this base from many fatal security deficiencies”
He put the wire down, studying Angae's body language.
Hongcha: "The biggest intelligence facility in the country using simple AC for electrical route is pretty embarrassing you know?"
Angae: "This base was built before other option was invented. Regardless, can you stop breaking into my base? I have to announce a drop in security every time some of my men pause their patrol to deal with you"
This morning Hongcha attempted sneaking into B2 for an intel on some cases where citizens attempted to report that some of generals and executives SA them.
Hongcha: “Let me remind you that I am not on your side. Baegcha is the only one who agreed to join you guys, I’m not interested in your super villain alliance”
Angae: “To correct you, it’s a neutral mercenary corporation”
Hongcha sarcastically make a laughing sound…either that or he really did laugh but his stone-cold expression make thing confusing as usual.
Hongcha: “Yeah, whatever. But you do realize that keeping me here for too long might draw in some catastrophe, right? We all know he has no problem buried a couple thousand of your men with me in this basement”
Angae pout a little.
Angae: "The underground part of this base is strong enough to withstand air raid and if the entrance and exit are buried, we can always use communication to call for outside help. Beside he will not find you here because of the counterintelligence measure especially SIGNINT unless you call him here before you sneak in just in case you got caught, your plan is to escape while Orenji keep everyone busy and Orenji's air raid will destroy any trail leading to you"
Right at the end of Angae sentence an air raid siren alarm came to life. Angae facepalm.
Hongcha: "Awww, so you do remember my behavior pattern. Unlike a certain surgeon who claim to be helping me yet all he wants is for me to stop existing"
Angae: "You all are too predictable, if there's something you want you just go for it, no precaution or consideration"
Angae decide to drag Hongcha with him outside the station and order all soldiers on the ground floor to turn off the light.
Hongcha: "Hahaha, are you seriously using me as a hostage against myself right now?"
Angae: "If you don't want to die, you better corporate. The visibility is low today because of the fog so we should still be at advantage"
Hongcha: "I didn't poke much but I can tell you are about to have an episode; your eyes are darting like crazy, your shoulder is tense, and your lip is shaking, clearly you are reaching your limit, you can't use your camera because your men will see it and you are out of Risperidone because you didn't have enough time to visit Docs lately. Oh, wait maybe you are already having one..?"
Angae got chill down his spine starting to doubt if the fog in front of him is real and if he just makes a fool out of himself.
Hongcha: "Just messing with you, the fog is totally real"
Somewhere outside Area 21, Orenji is out conducting air traffic.
Orenji: "04 to D44A, stop fire. Enter FL010, head 67 at minute 15. CB10 request approved. 04 to D46A, descend to 50 feet, make 90 degrees turn then open fired at minute 24"
One of the invading fighter jets descend then make a sharp turn to the starboard and open fired in straight line, stopping the Rosemary soldier from leaving the station entrance.
Rosemary's anti-aircraft weapons fired some missile in retaliation.
Orenji: "04 to CB10, drop bomb at minute 50"
A bomber flies by above the missile. A bomb was released accurately right on top of the missiles that had target locked on the closest fighter jet to the facility and because of that, the fighter jet is now able to spot the location of anti-aircraft system.
Orenji: "04 to D46A, approved"
The fighter jet open fire at the anti-aircraft weapon, this prompted the air defense unit of Rosemary base to release their own aircraft for ariel defense.
Angae: "Negative! All pilots remained stationed, suspend all flight activity-"
Two aircrafts lifted off unannounced and went straight crashing right to the anti-aircraft station, a couple of strawberry scatters around as the aircraft explode. The confused Rosemary control tower report that the ground that their frequency was jammed and none of them are able to contact the pilots, it is as Angae fear.
Orenji had jammed the signal that the tower use, then pose himself to the pilot as the ATC from the tower they are in contact with then lead them to their demise. Position them at the angle where hearing anti-collision warning is equivalent to seeing 4 red PAPI during touch down. It's seemed that he too is at advantage with this level of visibility.
Hongcha: "Oh nice! These pilots appear to be on my stoplist, what a coincident!"
Hongcha is crossing names on his stoplist while whistling in which Angae look at him with disgusted expression and yes, 30% of the forest around the base are now currently on fire, clearly this had become a miniature active war site.
Angae vision started to flicker between hell on earth and rainbow flower field, he can feel that he also had to close his eyes longer each time to retain himself. He got to find a way to end this fast.
Angae told one of his men to go get him a Barret M82. At the moment an extraordinary powerful rifle could be a better approach compared to SAM that are not just a bigger target for fighter jet to strike back and easier to spot but also a more explosive one.
The soldier handed him what he asked, but they also have to report him that Angae had took the scope back home with him for a maintenance a couple of day ago and the scope of the other guns here won't fit the barrel. So much so for not making a fool out of himself-
And so, Angae asked his soldier to bring him myopia glasses and magnifying glass.
Tumblr media
Decommissioning the aircraft with sniper gun is impossible as bullet can only travel at 2,600 km per hour and these jets fly at least 1,900 km per hour. But he knows how he can decommission its firearms. Also, he personally doesn't want any aircraft to crash here as it will become his base's responsibility to clean it. So he decided that he should go straight to confront Orenji head on.
Before getting close to Orenji though, Angae want to decommission a couple of his communication equipment but where could Orenji be hiding?
Suddenly a Hydrangea with two comedically huge petals spoke in Hongcha's voice.
Hongcha: “Oh man, if only there’s someone who had 5 years of experience in dealing with first generation Northland combat controller standing right next to you”
It appears that his vision had already switch and he is 100% in psychosis episode now as temporary closing his eyes don't make the vision inaccuracy go away, he won't have much time before the rifle in his hand turn into something else.
Hongcha probaly notice the puzzled look on his face hence asking for involment.
Angae: "I'm not returning your electronic equipments so you can hack into the North capital system and release a conventional war scale missile designed to sink a battleship"
Hongcha: "Come'on. Unlike Baegcha, I won't try to kill Orenji"
Angae sighed, Hongcha is indeed one people with the most information about Orenji and having him completely station here is indeed a waste of resources.
Angae: "Can you pinpoint Orenji's hiding spot?"
Hongcha: "Thought you'd never ask"
Suddenly the comedically large petals on Hydrangea start spinning at turbine speed, then it shoots a gigantic neon blue sausage into the sky. This led to Angae also notice that the fighter jets had turn into a wooden bird.
Alighting the magnifying glass at the right distance, Angae asked Hongcha to hold it still for him. Angae is very curious as to what his brain will interpretated a Hydrangea holding stuff but apparently, the magnify glass simply float in place.
Orenji statled as his radar goes out of commission followed by two of his duplex radios then the RF modulator, limiting his communication route.
Orenji: "D44A, D46A, CB10 return to base"
Orenji inspect his broken equipment, he hopes to fix it as soon as possible and may be ground jack one of the airliners just in case. But then he heard a subtle ruffle sound which prompt him to take his own pistol out.
The intruder fired at Orenji first in which he shoots back in retaliation, he would have D45A take care of the intruder for him however he had no idea where exactly this intruder is. More shot was fired and Orenji continued to shoot back.
While reloading his gun, Orenji hear a quiet thud sound on his left, he looks up from his gun in which he found Angae.
Tumblr media
Angae's eyes are not exactly alight with where Orenji is, clearly mean that Angae can't see where Orenji is and is only listening to his radio. This greatly impress Orenji as this means that Angae recognized the type of his gun purely from the sound, he then precedes to count each shot and took the opportunity when Orenji is reloading his gun.
Angae look at the massive orange tree in front of him, each orange hanging on his branch talk over each other, reporting every single little thing they see. Angae is a bit nervous knowing what he's currently facing. Orenji doesn't sees a single thing on field, everything he know are from his radar and pilot reports.
Angae stare at the orange tree intensely, he didn't intend for Orenji to notice him. He doesn't even know if he's really holding guns right now, he just knows that it sounds correct when he squeezes it.
Both are at stalemate. Either the wooden bird shoot or Angae shoot.
Hongcha: "Orenji...."
Both were taken aback by the approaching Hydrangea that had now grow a pair of chicken feet. The Hydrangea and the Orange tree stay still in front of each other for a couple of second in awe, it's been 3 months since Orenji last saw Baegcha/Hongcha and it's been 6 months since Hongcha last saw Orenji.
Orenji: "Baegcha"
Unlike the rest of C2ISTAR, Orenji called both Baegcha and Hongcha "Baegcha", this is because Orenji want to call his significant other by their preferred name.
Angae can't quite tell what's going on but both plants seem to be giving some sign to each other, wrinkling and shuffling their leaves.
Orenji: "All is worth for ending your suffering Beagcha, I look forward to it. 04 to CV04, drop ladder at 13.68N 100.99E"
A wooden bird fly by then hover above them. One of Orange tree's branch reach out to the chain hanging from the wooden bird. It's seemed that Orenji had escaped with his aircraft.
Angae still doubt the situation. Beagcha/Hongcha was in front of him, but Orenji choose to escape instead of pressing on to putting his significant other out of misery as intended. It was an abnormal sight.
Both Hongcha and Baegcha stay to help Angae out with the bills and incident reports while Angae reorganizing the intelligence in the base. A couple of days later another box of money was drop in front of Angae's house. With a photo of the funeral held for the two Rosemary pilots, seem that Orenji paid for their funeral.
Hongcha: "Here's the conclusion report, are there anything else?"
Angae: "No, that is everything, I'll pardon your jail time as promised"
Finally, being in a less chaotic mindset. Angae now notice that he made mistake in his deduction and what happened is somewhat less obvious than he thought. Apparently Orenji, Beagcha and Hongcha can carry some discreet operation as well.
Angae: "Orenji was the one who paid you to break in here didn't he?"
Hongcha reply with silence.
Angae: "You two are trying to scare the other generals away from this base and you want North capital to think that they need me to fend you two off"
Angae look up from his computer only to find that the secret service was already gone. Angae make a small idiot smile, he definitely has the worse group of friends in this world. But this probably will be the closest things to the homesick pill he will ever get.

Resident Evil 6: When a franchise has an identity crisis
I can’t tell you RE6 is a better game than RE5, but if nothing else, it’s a far more interesting failure.
Tumblr media
RE6 is famously the game that tried so hard to appeal to everyone that it wound up appealing to no-one: overlong, overproduced and utterly OTT. RE5 left the franchise at a crossroads: the previous two games were huge successes, but drew criticism for straying from the series’ horror roots. Faced with the choice of doubling down on the new direction or diverting back towards something more survival horror, Capcom attempted to do both, at once, and then some.
The new RE6 would have three different main campaigns (Chris & Piers, Leon & Helena, and Jake & Sherry), all aimed at different markets, plus a fourth which would unlock only after the previous three were completed, which was to be different again. It would have something for everyone! Provided ‘everyone’ wanted a co-op shooter experience with ALL the explosions, or was prepared to play through three different extended co-op experiences just to unlock the one that was kinda more designed to be played solo. Completing that fourth campaign would also be essential to ever finding out what the fuck was going on during those first three. How could that go wrong?
RE6 is, in other words, exactly what happens when a franchise has an identity crisis.
Experienced purely on the level of plot and cutscenes, RE6 remains hard to rate overall because while there are parts of this game I genuinely enjoyed in a way nothing in RE5 could boast, so many other parts of were legitimately uncomfortable to sit through, and in ways owing less to effective horror than to gratuitous, ugly misery porn.
Tumblr media
Watch, as these bit characters you barely know die in horrible, gruesome ways in front of people who care about them! Watch! As Helena is finally reunited with the infected sister she committed treason to save, just in time to watch her beloved Deborah transform into a horrific butt-naked-lady monster who will spend the ensuing boss fight posing sexily while her tits show off their jiggle physics! It’s so traumatic for poor Helena, you have no idea!
Watch! As Chris reaches desperately for the outstretched fingers of StarryEyed McNewKid in the final seconds before his body erupts into a monster cocoon! Chris, dude, how long have you been in this business? He’s not falling off a rooftop, Chris! Grabbing his hand is not going to help!
Tumblr media
It would all be hilarious if it wasn’t also all so skin-crawlingly unpleasant. There’s something uniquely gross about how these scenes play out, and largely not in the fun way.
With all four campaigns down, the big secret behind devastating bio-terror outbreaks in three different locations around the world turns out to be that some member of the Actual Illuminati gets Big Mad that Ada Wong won’t put out, and converts a loyal scientist (Carla) into an Ada-clone, who promptly sets out to end the world in a fit of clone-angst. There’s a bit more going on in some of the individual campaigns – Illuminati Dude also sets up a plot to kill the US president so he can’t reveal the truth about Raccoon City (whatever that means), then frames Leon and Helena for it. He’s also sent Sherry out to find Wesker’s son, whose blood may be the one cure for their latest alphabet-virus, Sherry little realising who she’s really working for. And the real Ada’s around too – you can tell her apart by how the clone doesn’t wear enough red to be the real deal.
Tumblr media
Among the many problems with this game are that Illuminati Dude and clone!Ada are our only real villains, and neither are up to the franchise standard. Ada is just too well-established a character to work as the kind of villain who just wants-to-watch-the-world-burn – you can see the twist coming long, tiring hours before it hits. And Simmons (Illuminati Dude) just does not have any of the personality that makes people remember villains like Wesker or Salazar. There is some impressive creature design in this game – some of the boss monsters are far more memorable than the villains. But by this stage of franchise-transformation, your base level infected-enemy is just a generic guy with a machine gun and maybe an extra couple of eyes up close. It's a military shooter with occasional monsters, expecting you to mow down mooks without stopping for breath.
Speaking of military shooters, Chris has a campaign too, but for the life of me I could not tell you anything in it that matters to anyone else. He runs around a few locations, he fights a lot of monsters, completely fails to stop a missile launch, and loses people in the field. In the wake of RE5, the new game has honed in on the one defining feature of Chris’ character, Man With Lots Of Feelings About Losing People In The Field, and doubled down. Chris loses a lot of people in the field in this game.
The four campaigns in this game are separate enough that I’m going to talk about them that way, so let’s start with Chris.
Tumblr media
Chris and Piers
Like the franchise as a whole, Chris is in the midst of his own identity crisis. Is running from place to place, fighting monsters and losing so many people in the field really his whole life now? Yes, Chris. Yes, it is. I don’t know what else to tell you.
As much shade as this game gets for not being proper horror, there’s a case to be made that Chris’ campaign is absolutely a horror story, just one about the specific horrors of toxic masculinity. Aww, Chris, are you having an alcohol-fuelled, amnesic breakdown after traumatically losing your whole team in the field? You think maybe you could use some therapy, some downtime? Well fuck you, Chris, what you need is for the one survivor of your big fuck-up to come yell at you, drag your amnesic ass back to base and give you a whole new team. Then you can go lose them all in the field again, this time down to the very last man, so you can learn how to be a fucking man about it! MEN DON’T GET TO HAVE FEELINGS!!
Tumblr media
Chris persists in having feelings nonetheless, mostly rage and denial. By the end game, poor Chris is about half a breakdown away from the point where he could see his whole team smeared into a bloody pulp, and would still have to be dragged away screaming “noooooo we can still save them!!!” The sheer hilarity can only temper the misery so far.
Watch as Chris solemnly retrieves the C4 cartridge that is all that was left of the last (non-playable) survivor of the second team he’s lost this game, which game text will dutifully label as Marco’s C4. Watch the sadness in Chris’ eyes as he slaps it onto a door and blows it open! (That was Marco’s C4, Piers! He loved that C4! He took it everywhere with him! Now it’s as burned and blackened as he is!)
Tumblr media
If you’re here for testosterone poisoning, Chris and Piers’ campaign is here for you. Up to this point in the series, one of Chris’ few vaguely-distinguishing features was how many women there were in his life, and how he generally managed not to be weird about that – Jill, Claire, Sheva, even Rebecca. In RE6, Chris is a man’s man in a man’s world, full of men – no lady partners around to slow down this Redfield!
Chris interacts with all of three women in the whole game, and is one of those is him telling a barmaid ‘Listen, sweetheart, you’re here to pour drinks and look pretty’ when she tries to cut him off during his drunken-amnesic opening sequence. Chris spends the rest of the game hunting clone!Ada after she gruesomely murders his first team in front of him. He never gets his final showdown with her. He never finds out she’s a clone. But he sure does get into a big punch-up with Leon when Leon has the gall to suggest they need to bring “Ada” in alive, not in a body bag (the clone herself slips away while they’re still arguing).
Tumblr media
Chris does manage to be nicer to Sherry, at least, but his biggest interaction with Jake is similarly testosterone-laden. If you play these campaigns in their intended order, you’ll have the big Wesker-junior-reveal exposed for you in other people’s dialogue long before you’ll ever see Jake find out for himself. Chris decides this means he absolutely has to let Jake know that I Killed Your Father at the first possible opportunity, never mind that the lives of millions could hang on whether he and Jake can get on long enough to get out alive. He and Jake very nearly come to blows over it.
It’s all so ridiculous that even Piers calls him out on it; Chris simply insists that Jake “had a right to know.” Sure, but why now? For which matter, why would Jake suddenly care about the death of the evil, asshole deadbeat he hates so much? Oh, let’s not kid ourselves, it’s all because the writers wanted their big, tense, manly, “I killed your daddy!”-confrontation, and were going to shoehorn it in at any cost.
And yet, for all the bullshit that is Chris’ manly, manly campaign, I can’t completely hate it, because there’s this one bit at the end where Piers injects himself with a virus in a desperate moment, and promptly grows a giant mutant arm that shoots lightning. Like, if you are playing as Piers, you get to wield his mutant lightning arm through the remaining combat scenes.
Tumblr media
The game even throws up a bunch of lightning-destructible barriers after the big boss battle just to give you more to do with it. I mean, how can you not love a thing like that? It’s amazing.
More importantly, why the fuck is there not more use of Piers’ horrifying lightning-shooting monster-arm in Chris/Piers fanfic? Do you all not see how 100% DTF Chris would be if he thought it had even a chance of helping convince Piers his monster-arm wasn’t so bad and he didn’t need to nobly stay behind to die? You can’t experience this game and tell me this isn’t the moment Chris has been building up for the whole damn campaign! Am I going to have to write monster-fucker!Chris myself?
Ahem.
Tumblr media
Leon and Helena
Leon’s campaign does not start in a bar, comfortably far from the action. It starts in a presidential office, where Leon is already pointing a gun at the zombified PotUS, who is even now eating another victim.
“Don’t make me do this!” Leon begs, demonstrating that Chris has absolutely set the standard for seasoned-pros-still-living-in-absurd-denial that we can expect from everyone in this mad game. Leon, c’mon – wake up and smell the decomposition! Fuck, your boss is so far gone already they can probably smell him from the building next door!
Tumblr media
Leon seems to be working presidential security, but he can’t be doing a very good job, considering that not only has the president been zombified on his watch, there’s a woman with a drawn firearm standing next to him in the president’s presence, and (in one of many record-scratch moments) we’re about to find out Leon hasn’t a clue who she is. Other games might have spent some time leading up to this moment, establishing how Leon, Helena and the ex-pres all got into this position. They might even have given us a scene or two to set up Leon’s relationship with said president, a man whose death has apparently been so traumatic that Leon’s forgotten everything he ever knew about zombies (and take note that this isn’t even Ashley’s-dad-the-president, it’s apparently some completely new guy, so even franchise vets are coming in blind). But not RE6! RE6 gives us a few seconds of flashback-montage right before Leon pulls the trigger, and gets right back to its regular schedule of misery porn.
Helena mutters, “It’s all my fault!” but refuses to elaborate in any way until they reach this cathedral on the other side of town (naturally hiding some kind of biotech lab facility) where it will all become clear. It takes a long time to get to the cathedral, however, because there’s a zombie outbreak in progress, and Leon and Helena keep stopping to watch people die.
Tumblr media
There’s a man who wants help looking for his daughter! “We don’t have time!” says Helena. “We’ll make time!” says Leon. Well, they sure do make time to watch that newly-zombified daughter eat her father in a horrific scene. Yay! Later, they find a security feed showing a couple of helpless civilians desperately waving “HELP” signs at a security camera, like there’s going to be anyone checking security feeds in the midst of the zombie apocalypse. Leon watches the feed. The civilians persist in waving signs in one of those awkward video-game animation cycles. Leon watches some more. The signs wave some more. Finally, “we should go help them!” says Leon, as zombies show up to eat everyone present. Helena points out it may be a little late. It’s all so hilarible it hurts.
There’s no good reason why Helena can’t explain anything until they get to the cathedral. All she needs to say is that she’s a federal agent whose sister was taken hostage to force her to cooperate with the villains responsible for the president’s death, and who've been making bioweapons in a secret lab under the cathedral. You could question why a major bio-terror outbreak was necessary for one little act of political assassination, but because this is the Resident Evil universe, any evil worth doing is worth doing with zombies.
You could question exactly what Helena was forced to do, but the game isn’t interested in any of that logical plot stuff. You could question exactly why whatever the president was about to reveal about Raccoon City was worth a political assassination, but the game isn’t interested in politics either. We’re going to the cathedral! It’ll all be much easier to explain there! (It won’t be, we’re not here to explain anything.)
Tumblr media
It doesn’t really get better from here. Leon’s campaign is, in short, an epic mess. But I can’t completely hate it, because despite all the bullshit material he’s working with, I am kind of into this take on Leon. This is a Leon who’s older, cooler and more sophisticated, and it just gets me something ridiculous. I’ve seen complaints from fans of the original RE4 who weren’t happy he’s more serious and has less goofy one-liners, which is probably fair – Leon still gets some good ones in, but Jake is hoarding most of the real one-liners in this game, and Leon does come across kind of absurdly over-earnest in a lot of early scenes. He's not going to be to everyone's taste.
But frankly, I’ll take this Leon over RE4’s any day. He feels so much closer to the version in the new games I fell for so hard (and not just because he can actually work with women without being weird about it). He also looks amazing in a suit and still has great chemistry with (real) Ada, and good god, they should just run away together already, those combined genetics would produce the coolest babies imaginable, you just try and tell me they wouldn’t!
And, y'know, sue me, but I kinda liked Helena too. I could do without the police-brutality backstory that she gets in documents, but she's a woman who has fucked up big time, who knows it, and is trying to make up for it, and that kind of complicated tends to be what gives me most of my female faves in this franchise.
Tumblr media
Jake & Sherry
Much as I enjoyed Leon and Helena though, their campaign at large is still a pretty miserable slog. And having already sat through two long campaigns of indifferent misery porn, I can’t tell you what a breath of fresh air it was it reach Jake and Sherry’s story and realise, oh my god, I’m actually having a good time! They’re actually having some fun together! They have such great chemistry! Jake even has an actual character arc where he looks back on his life with new eyes and real drive to become a better person! Did I accidentally switch to a whole different game?
Jake (aka Wesker Junior) is the kind of character who shouldn’t work: an above-it-all edgelord mercenary asshole who sounds like everything wrong with this game in a nutshell. His reaction to discovering he might be carrying the cure to a zombie plague is to cheerfully put a price on his own blood in the millions. And yet, he’s refreshingly not awful to Sherry, quickly get attached to her and develops a great dynamic, and he’s young enough that he’s out of his depth a lot in the world of bio-terrorism, and not too uptight to admit it.
Finding out his father was none other than Wesker prompts some serious self-reflection, but we’re not going to watch him spend the rest of the game angsting over it, and even through all the horror he mostly seems to be having a good time. Jake’s great.
Tumblr media
My only serious complaint about this campaign is that it’d be nice if they’d given Sherry a little more personality beyond being Jake’s no-nonsense handler. I like that she’s grown up from rescued-little-damsel into trusted agent, that she’s competent and comfortable enough with the world of bio-terror that nothing really fazes her (even if the game does get a little patronising about having Jake tackle her out of danger repeatedly), but she’s stuck being the straight-man to Jake’s wilder personality, and that’s just a bit disappointing.
For someone whose parents were neglectful Umbrella scientists responsible for throwing her into a world of horrific childhood trauma, Sherry comes across like she’s never questioned an authority figure in her life since, and that just doesn’t ring true to me. But at least she and Jake get to have friendly interactions with Leon and Helena, because god knows Chris and Piers can't ever be invited to a group cutscene without one of them having to hold the other back.
I can’t say whether I’d have enjoyed Jake’s storyline nearly so much had I not suffered through Chris and Leon’s first, but Jake’s feels like a far more complete story than either of the previous – and there’s a refreshing lack of stopping-to-watch-people-die-horribly. I don’t feel like I’m missing a preceding act’s worth of set-up, and clone!Ada has a smaller role, so the fact Sherry and Jake never find out what her deal is doesn’t feel like it leaves their story critically unfinished.
Which brings us to Ada’s campaign.
Tumblr media
Ada
So here’s where we learn that the Ada in the purple dress is a clone created by that one Illuminati Dude she ghosted after he got too clingy. And by ‘we learn’ I mean ‘just the real Ada learns’, because god knows Chris and Leon never find out – and one can only imagine the kind of furious arguments they’re going to have over Ada’s character, motives, and whether she’s even alive or not after the events of the game. Even Ada only finds out her clone exists because the clone insists on trying to best her original, in that classic clone-angst way.
I have such conflicted feelings about Ada’s portrayal in this game. I’d like to be able to enjoy how unflappably cool she is, even when faced with evidence that the Literal Illuminati may be trying to make her the scapegoat for the apocalypse. But the reality is that Ada flaps so little she’s utterly one-note here – like, if you thought the RE4 remake Ada was a little limited in range, RE6 is exactly that, only more so, for much longer. Surely she should at least be annoyed that someone with Chris’ connections thinks she’s directly responsible for major bio-terror outbreaks in multiple countries? A little flap or two would go an awful long way here.
Tumblr media
The most memorable part of Ada’s campaign is her final showdown with Carla, her clone – who mutates into a monster so huge and horrific that she basically becomes the whole battle stage, and it’s fantastically creepy and fucked-up (in a way I can actually enjoy, for a change). But most of the rest of Ada’s campaign is her wandering through her scheduled appearances in other characters’ stories, and there’s just not much of interest going on there. Time to fight all those same bosses that keep coming back over and over again!
A lot of what makes RE6 ultimately so unsatisfying is that in the end, thousands or millions of people have died around the world because of what amounts to bullshit illuminati infighting, well beyond the ken of any of the heroes running around the edges doing damage control. Even when Chris finally catches up with the Ada clone, it’s only to see her shot down by mysterious men in a black helicopter who just fly away out of the story again as inexplicably as they entered.
Tumblr media
The clone’s not dead, of course – she gets right back up again in time for her boss fight with Ada. There’s no need for the helicopter in this scene at all – letting the Ada clone throw herself off the rooftop without being shot would have served the same narrative purpose. But throwing in an Illuminati drive-by shooting sure does underline how little real agency any of the heroes really have, when the world can be brought to the brink of a bio-terror apocalypse because one rich, white man couldn’t deal with the fact a woman said no to him.
No-one other than Ada even seems interested in the real truth: no-one asks who was flying the helicopter, or ends their campaign with any ‘time to get the rest of those Illuminati bastards’-declaration. Had RE6 been a smash-hit success, I don’t doubt that some kind of get-the-Illuminati plot would have come up in the sequel, but as it stands, Chris and Leon seem unbothered by being mere pawns in the schemes of the unknowably powerful. That’s not much of a happy note to end on.
In the end, the best thing about RE6 is that its reception was so tepid that it led directly to the IP being almost completely reinvented for RE7. And without a trainwreck on the scale of RE6, that might not have happened.
For all the parts of this story I like enough to wish they’d appeared in a better game, it’s hard to call RE6 any kind of success. But it’s at least an interesting failure – a fascinatingly awful trainwreck of an experience – and that’s at least something worth talking about.

Okay Okay Sorusing you've got me intrigued: What is FLY?!!!!
thanks for asking @sanfangirl !!! It’s my favorite things ever: superheroes, secret identities, and Hiccstrid. and modern AU, of course.
(So, FLY was the title I picked after seeing one of those motivational posts of it being an acronym for “first love yourself”. In the original iteration of this AU, it used to be more important, but the actually flying is also important lol. It’s not really that good of a title anymore but eh.)
This is my superhero AU (“really, not much to know” is actually the AU of this AU) in which Astrid is training to be a superhero sidekick at school. Her family name is disgraced, so she cannot become a “solo” hero without lots of extra work in college. She has extremely good control over her water powers.
in this universe, everyone born in “The Above” (artificial flying islands above th earhipelago after a war) is born with something called a “karyon”: a mark/bead on the neck that grants them powers by using a particle called dust.
I have an entire 10 minute explanation on dust that is plot-relevant but I’m skipping it right now for brevity’s sake
one day, she is confronted with an odd situation: a vigilante who’s powers don’t work how powers SHOULD work, fighting a new kind of villain that recently popped up. He doesn’t have a karyon, and neither do these new villains who seem to permanently be beserk and incapable of human speech or thought.
after this odd meeting, she wakes up in the middle of the night, outside her house, after having an odd dream, and her powers are…off. Instead of water manipulation, she can now fire off odd spikes…and why can she smell so well?!
She eventually discovers more about the situation: these new villains are people controlled by a villain that the vigilante - whom she’s dubbed “black” - calls “The Queen”, and are being hypnotised to do her bidding.
she eventually agrees to help him out, and joins him in his fight against her, since the heroes aren’t doing anything about the situation and she knows they won’t budge any time soon.
The vigilante calls himself “Night Fury” which as her laughing at first: him? Name himself after the unholy offspring of lightning and death that all of the Seven Families boasted to have survived encounters with?
But then she realised that his powers fit the creature to a T: the lightning. The super speed. She invisibility.
and then, more puzzle pieces click. She’s somehow gotten the powers of a Nadder. All of these new villains are dragon themed…so the Queen must have some obsession with the ancestral dragons.
things spiral from there.
on hiccup’s side of things, life isn’t looking great at all: the only person in the above who doesn’t have a karyon.
he has three and they all don’t work properly at all. They even cause him so much harm that he had to undergo surgery to get one removed.
His father is the shining beacon of his family, the leader of the Seven, superheroes of epic proportions who are gods among men, essentially.
his mother is Skullcrusher’s second in command who has control over the Alpha Matrix, a device that monitors all superpower usage. (And a certain kind of superhuman but shhh he doesn’t know that)
and then, there’s him, Hiccup. he’s just a screw-up. He is not worth of either family name and knows the other relatives in the council are dying to kick him out and leave him nameless. To make him a nobody.
So it doesn’t surprise him in the slightest when his father sends him to live with his aunt to avoid the media.
hiccup knows it’s to hide the fact that his son is weak, or that he even HAS a son, but alas.
-
when hiccup was young, a supervillain did something to his karyons. Hiccup knows better than to ask which villain.
For whenever he asks; his father or mother just shake their head or freeze, clearly not wanting to talk about it.
he knows his karyon was messed up by a villain, and someday? Someday he WILL find out which villain and give him a piece of his mind. —
things don’t exactly begin to look up once the dreams start.
dreams in which is body doesn’t ache whenever he gets into contract with high concentrations of dust.
Dreams in which he can freely leap across rooftops, dreams in which he is fighting villains effortlessly from afar with his lightning powers - well not completely effortlessly, but still!! - and shows great mastery over his lightning and super speed-
powers which he doesn’t have. At all.
or…does he?
things derail further once a certain blonde girl in blue begins to pop up in his dreams, stubborn, fierce, and…wait isn’t that his classmate?!
-
also another fun fact: Gothi is a tattooist in this AU.
eventually, the other dragon riders would show up…but I’m not that far yet.
———
this is my oldest au and the one that has been reworked the most.
anyways I think I should stop here before I type an entire essay. Thanks for asking :D

I’m unaware of what exactly happened with crackstone in this au, but let’s assume Tyler survived the incident. I imagine that during the spider Enid au, reports of a hulking creature gets Enid’s attention. At first she’s all, “ooh boy, another big one, hopefully I won’t be as bruised after this.” To her surprise, unlike the other animal themed villains, this one looks like it’s covered with sticky ink, and has a giant, sharpened white spider on its chest. After the fight comes to a draw and this thing escapes, Enid senses something familiar about it. It also seemed weirdly jealous and angry at her. So, her initial guess is Tyler (idk how paranormal this au is, so he’s either a literal or metaphorical monster in the past) and she tries to prove it but can’t find any legit evidence.
Anyways, more plot stuff passes, the creature calls itself Venom, more Wenclair stuff, then we get to the reveal. Enid is sure Venom is Tyler, and at this point, with the help of Bianca, they’ve figured out it’s weak to certain noises. They get the symbiote off, and it’s…Xavier? (You mentioned his feeling weren’t reciprocated, and while maybe for the most part he accepted it, the symbiote brought out his worst qualities). Jealous tortured artist venom, hates spider Enid because he knows about Wenclair (even if they may not realize it themselves at this point). Idk what happens after that.
Most people like the symbiote becoming venom after it was once spider-man’s black suit, creating emo spider-man, but I’m kinda over those storylines, don’t need emo Enid, Wednesday would probably step in the second she started acting differently. I like the mystery on venom’s identity. One could say swapping out venom with green goblin would also work, but I figured that would actually be Tyler. Plus, the juxtaposition of what Xavier looks like and what venom’s looks like works better in my head. Plus, the inky type texture of venom vibes with the fact that Xavier draws and paints (also, the spider symbol can both be a bastardization of Enid’s symbol, and a reference to when he and Wednesday first met, she squashed his spider drawing).
Oof, that was a lot. I rambled for a bit my bad, the release date for the sequel game came out today so it’s on my mind. I may have more ideas but maybe later (I did have a passing thought that some version of Morbius exists in this au, and Yoko hates them because morbius is a bad excuse for a vampire wannabe)
Xavier with venom? Hm, I can see it but id need a reason as to why he'd go after spider Enid bc I'm keeping the secret identity a secret
Also bc if he knew abt Wenclair what's stopping him from attacking them at school

Here’s a little au niblet that I know I won’t be able to work on: Inko is a Vampire, Izuku is as well, Dad for One does not know and is planning to force Izuku to be his successor but Inko is, quite violently against it, have fun with this idea if ya want!
- Hisashi Shigiraki had a love and greed for intelligence of all forms.
- he longed to match wits with someone or something that was almost as cunning as him. His brothers successors were fine and all but spewed out the same drawl about justice and goodness.
- so by the eighth Ofa successor, Hisashi could officially consider himself bord.
- little did he know that just what he was hoping for would stumble into his life.
- one Inko Midoriya. An intelligent, clever woman who always kept Hisashi on his toes.
- Inko was a mystery from the very beginning with little quirks anyone else might find strange but we're new and endearing to the white haired man.
- she had a preference for antiques whether it was furniture or clothing, the fact that he had rarely ever seen her sleep at night, or the fact that she always seems to know his next move! It was invigorating!
- so of course he made her his wife!
- little did he know Inko Midoriya had many secrets.
- the most important of which was that she was a vampire. Second of which was she was older than quirks and lastly was that her main food source was evil men and woman of history.
- before quirks that meant hunting down abusers, rapists, murderers and capitalists to get the life force she needed to survive.
- nowadays she has added villains onto the menu.
- Inko in no way considers herself a vigilante, an assassin maybe but never a vigilante.
- and yes she knows who her husband is or what he is, but she unfortunately hasn't found it in her to take him out at least not yet. She was sure Hisashi would find his due whether it was at her fang or not. Men like him always did.
- though there was one good thing that Hisashi ever did and that was bless Inko with their son Izuku.
- Izuku thankfully took after his mother with not only his looks and kind heart, but also his need for blood... So everything is going just swell.
- that is until her meddlesome husband conceives the idea to make lil Izuku his heir and successor to his criminal empire.
- well Inko's held back far too long... She'll have to finally off the troublesome man.

Bracket F Round 1
Poll 29
De Ville (@just-one-mun) vs. Jamie Cross (@gonzoisms)
377. De Ville (@just-one-mun)
He/Him
A morally grey vampire, antagonist for some part of the story, secret supporter for another. Pwerful, charming, strategic, cunning and focused, though if it suits his needs and he thinks it necessary he can be quite Machiavellian. His burning scars on his eyelids hint at a past he tries to hide, using this false name to hide his true identity.
378. Jamie Cross (@gonzoisms)
he/him
I originally made him to be a side character but now he occupies all of my thoughts.
The main premise of his character is that he’s incredibly self sacrificing and just doesn’t really care about himself. It all comes to a head when he lets himself get possessed by the literal concept of love to save his friends, potentially at the cost of his own life. Love sticks around and luckily his soul is strong enough to survive it. Think a GreedLing sort of situation. Love takes one look at him and is like damn bitch you live like this, and starts helping him combat those tendencies.
Jamie’s also bisexual and doesn’t know it, black, and bipolar. He’s really into robots and creates little guys to help him and his friends fight the villains. His best friend is someone who gets reincarnated over and over, and he won’t. They are partners for life and the only reason Jamie’s involved in the plot is because of her.
Warm, medium brown skin with dreadlocks that go down to his chin. Almost always wears a hoodie and jeans. After he gets possessed, his teeth grow sharper. He wears glasses

Worm Reading - Part 4, Arc 4 Shell
Ok, I didn’t get a chance to take notes on Arc 4 as I was reading it, but here are some retroactive thoughts glancing back through the Arc:
Honestly, great to see Taylor laughing in Emma’s face at the start. As I’ve mentioned, the bullying sections are the least enjoyable for me to read, but this was some nice catharsis. I’m sure there will be repercussions later, but at some point these high school bullies are going to learn that they’re screwing with the wrong person, even if she’s traumatized enough by it to not want to hit back.
Actually, let’s stop and look at the bullying angle for a sec. In this world it’s established that some people just randomly get superpowers, and those people keep their identities a secret. I’m assuming the ratio of powered:nonpowered is extremely low, but I’m surprised there’s not more of a social impact on how people interact. How dumb is it to bully someone, or mug someone, or commit any sort of abuse or crime, when the person you’re bullying might end up as the next Clockblocker, or worse, Lung? Sure it’s unlikely that any one person is powered, but you don’t know! And while most people don’t seem to know about the whole “being pushed too far can activate powers thing,” the fact of the matter is that people who are bullied or abused are more likely to end up superpowered! I’m a little surprised that doesn’t have some impact on how people navigate social hierarchies.
Nice to spend some time hanging out with the crew in the street market, opening up about her past and doing some shopping. I will admit I like the Undersiders as a group of characters, so this was some nice development. I am slowly warming to Brian, I’m no longer convinced that he’s intentionally manipulative. (I do still think he’s got abusive tendencies that he’s inherited from his father)
We get an explanation of who one of the supposed “murderers” in the crew is, and the details about definitely soften that blow. I’m still team #JusticeForRachel #GiveRachelABreak!
Who is our murderer #2? I could still make a case for it being anyone. I think Brian is more hardened by his past than he lets on, and he could justify killing someone as “doing what I had to do” to keep his goals from slipping away. I think Lisa has a cold streak in her, and we also have established that she just straight-up carries a gun, which is really funny in a superhero universe but also speaks to a level of lethal pragmatism. I still straight-up think that Alec could have a sociopath streak, and it’s possible he’s taken things too far in the past because he thought it was funny or because something made him snap. This one’s still up in the air.
Speaking of Lisa, I don’t believe that her power hasn’t tipped her to the fact that Taylor is planning to sell them out. After what we saw she could do just from standing in a room with Glory Girl and Panacea, I fully think that Lisa knows that Taylor thinks of herself as a double-agent. At this point my headcanon is that not only has her intuition told her that Taylor intends to sell them out, it’s also told Lisa that Taylor won’t actually go through with it. Taylor is feeling at home with this group for the first time in a long time, and she needs that connection and community. When the time comes, I don’t believe that Taylor will be able to sell out her friends. And Lisa knows it too.
The whole fight in the storage locker facility with Uber and Leet and Bakuda is wild. I don’t have a ton to say about it specifically.
Uber and Leet are such odd characters. They’re obviously bottom-feeders, and it’s a little amazing that they’re hanging on and surviving in this whole parahuman scene. I can totally picture them as ineffective Teen Titans villains. There is some interesting dynamic in why a parahuman with such potential as Uber sticks with an apparent loser like Leet. His comment of “because he’s my friend” speaks to some depth there, a real relationship between them, which is fascinating. I kinda get a vibe similar to Theseus and Asterius from the game Hades, except in this case Theseus is ineffective as well as annoying.
Bakuda, on the other hand, is just a straight-up psycho. Blow stuff up, kill people, try to hold on to power. Cool bombs though. Great villain.
Interlude 3.5: Purity - Ok, from literally the first line of this I got a sketchy vibe from Purity. Annnnd sure enough she’s a recurring member of the White Supremacist villain team! Whoooooo fun! She makes some token comments about not agreeing with Kaiser’s methods, but honestly it seems like she objects more to him as an abusive/narcissistic leader than any issue with his racist worldview, and she drops some super gross comments herself soooooo not gonna give her any credit there.
God I feel bad for this Theo kid. It’s pretty apparent that his whole parenting situation is absolutely a mess, there is basically no way he comes out of this well-adjusted. Seems like a nice kid too from the brief glimpse of personality we get. I hope he finds some way to break out from whatever his home situation is and become his own person but, uh.... doesn’t seem likely.
God basically everything we’ve seen about Max/Kaiser and Empire 88... barf. They make for effective villains though. Definitely seem to be at a power level above what the Undersiders are capable of operating at.
That actually reminds me that we still have basically no information on the secretive “Boss” behind the Undersiders. Could it be Kaiser? He clearly has resources and an interest in pulling strings in the city, he could be using the Undersiders as pawns for plausible deniability. I don’t see it as likely but it’s possible.
My original theory was that Tattletale was actually the Boss, pretending to just be a member of the team. It would require her to not be around whenever other members of the crew talk to the Boss, and then she would just be faking each time she pretends to call the Boss in front of them, which is a stretch but not impossible. This theory isn’t totally scuttled yet and is currently my favorite, even if I suspect it will get scuttled at some point.
We’ve now glossed over a few indicators about Taylor’s powers that I think are quite worrying, and no one in-universe seems to have questioned it: 1) We have not yet seen any sort of limit to Taylor’s power as far as how many bugs she can control and how long she can continue using them. Other characters get worn out when they use their powers too much, but in the Bank Robbery job Taylor harnessed large amounts of bugs with a high level of control with zero apparent power exhaustion for the entire time. She thought her power was wearing down but it was actually Panacea messing with her, and as soon as that was fixed Taylor’s power came back in full. What are her limits? Does she HAVE limits? 2) When she got knocked out during the Storage Facility fight her powers continued working while she was unconscious, with bugs responding to her last command. So Taylor is basically a walking bug bomb, and in a worse-case situation she could send out some incredible dangerous instruction like “multiply” or “devour people” and then get knocked out or killed(?) and all bugs in her radius would continue following that command. That’s a PROBLEM!
We’ve also not questioned the exact limits of WHAT Taylor can control! She generally just says “bugs.” But then we saw that she can control a crab, and she said “oh basically anything with a simple brain.” Does that mean any Arthropod? But she said she can control worms! That’s an entirely separate Phylum! And “worm” is a HUUUGE category! How simple does a brain have to be for her to control it?? I am very worried about how far her reach could extend with some practice and exertion.
So Danny has now met a few of his daughter’s new friends. I think Lisa and Brian did a perfect job of handling that situation, they had a solid cover story, they displayed responsibility and care, basically seemed like model friends for Taylor to spend time with. I feel like from Danny’s point of view this was a scary situation (especially after the phone call he got when his wife died, god I can’t imagine getting a phone call about his daughter being hurt with that trauma in mind), but overall it showed him that his daughter has good friends now and things are getting better. It’s a real shame this is all going to come crashing down on him at some point soon.
Interlude 4: Brutus - OK LOOK OK I HAVE ONLY KNOWN THESE DOGS FOR 24  HOURS BUT IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO THEM I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL STAB EVERYONE IN HERE. Brutus is the goodest of boys and Judas and Angelica are good doggos too and they’re sweet and perfect and they love Rachel and nothing bad can ever happen to them (ughhhh I know it’s gonna).
Look I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Is Rachel a messed-up person, violent and unstable? Unquestionably yes! But based on what we know about her life, frankly, I GET IT! I too have days where I like dogs more than I like people! Should she have commanded her dog to put that little girl’s arm in his mouth as a way to scare that mom? No that was super fucked up and not ok! BUT she had a point! That lady let her little kid harass random dogs in the sketchy part of town! That’s just irresponsible! Basically my stance on Rachel is that her responses are invariably disproportionate, but I don’t disagree with the logic behind pretty much anything she’s done (ok attacking Taylor on sight was uncalled for, but like I’ve said it makes sense for Rachel to be territorial based on her history). And wrecking that dog fighting ring was probably heat that their crew doesn’t really need right now, but I’m not gonna lose too much sleep over it. Also she has specifically trained her pups not to kill, even to the point of not using things like claws that could be accidentally fatal! And, I will say this again, they are Very Good Dogs and Perfect Sweet Puppers and I love them.
Honestly I just want Rachel to leave the city and start a Canine Sanctuary on a nice farm out in the countryside, rehabilitate abused dogs, don’t deal with people. That sounds nice let’s do that instead of whatever bad thing is inevitably going to happen here.

Talking about kagero mansion
I remember I had a idea of a Kirby being dragged into a trap by a original villain which used a artifact (implied to have been given to him by necrodeus) to shut the puffball’s mouth, so Kirby has to destroy the artifact and escape the mansion which is a floating piece of debris on a deserted spooky planetoid, but since is a Kirby game he’ll be helped by a ghost girl who is cursed to stay on the mansion (she’ll give tips about the puzzles)
The game would have been purely about puzzles, some mini games and chases with there only being 4 kinds of enemies and 3 bosses
The walking alarms:tamed beasts which will reveal Kirby’s location if they see them, if Kirby can take out the enemy or scape before the alarm starts then the main villain will appear and chase Kirby
Flying alarms:same has the walking but they can fly
Dirt monsters:they will only walk side to side and can only damage kirby on contact, they are has dangerous has a waddle dee but without their ability’s or the ability to regain health then Kirby would be in serious danger. You can use candles and other items to hit them which destroys them pretty quickly
Bombing skulls:when they notice Kirby they will fly towards their position not stopping till they reach a wall or similar causing them to explode, they are a pretty weak hazard but they are there to be a more active threat to Kirby
The villain (I don’t wanna give he’s name since I thought about this game has a sequel to another game in which this villain appears so If you want to know he’s name then I should tell you about that other game and this ask is getting too long):being able to run on the ceiling, smash walls and jump very high, it will chase Kirby with a axe destroying everything in its path. It’ll won’t insta kill Kirby but it does a great amount of damage
The bosses are
Unagiza:a giant monstruos Eel known has the most dangerous creature of the entire planet for its extremely strong skin which will chase down Kirby in a underwater level, kirby then has to make the Eel destroy some pillars in a circle arena like the ones on robobot to make the ceiling fall on a pool the eel is coming out of making the ceiling to crushing the eel although it survives but kirby run away before it woke up
Kagero-san:the owner of the mansion which is attacking Kirby because the villain has been talking how he would free him of he’s curse chaining him with the mansion if he kills kirby, kirby has to use a candle to light up some ropes to burn the painting Kagero uses has a avatar meanwhile Kirby Dodges flying furniture Kagero throws at Kirby, every time you burn the painting it causes the floor to fall forcing some parkour, and some dirt monsters will start to appear. Once it burns the mansion will start to burn as well and it will be a clock which every time it reaches Zero the main villain will appear
The villain:once you reach the artifact which ends up being a clock the first phase is pure survival dodging he’s axe, arrows and the alarms he summons which now attack, the second the ghost girl will give Kirby items and plataforms to have more space to escape, in the third face she destroys the clock allowing Kirby to absorb enemies she summons (is basically that one phase of Magolor of Kirby using súper copy ability’s) after the villain is defeated he’s absorbed by one of the portals of the ghost girl, the mansion crumbles down but kirby survives and sees how the mansion rebuilds itself
Through the game there’s several secret rooms with lore talking about “a man making a deal with a sinister undead in exchange of inmortality, he tries to trick the skeleton so he wouldn’t have to make he’s part of the deal but the man’s spirit got chained to the house by the horned skull which also took all the light of the world and unleashed a rampaging beast on the flooded tombs under the mansion which was the only part which wasn’t cursed, this curse prevented anyone without he’s permit to get inside the mansion but even then the beast will attack anyone it finds, accidentally the skeleton also cursed the man’s daughter so out of pity he told her how only someone with a pure soul will be able to free her
Eventually both man and daughter forget who they are, the man only remembers he’s wish to be free while the daughter only keeps her compassion”
In this same secret areas there’s some soul pieces which if you collect they’ll give you a secret ending with the ghost girl being freed of her curse and being Able to leave the mansion
Sorry if I’m annoying but I just wanted to share my brain rot of a kirby horror game
NAH DW MAN THIS IS actually pretty spot on 😳 it's got enough kirby vibes to potentially be a kirby game!
Also the element levels still being kept despite it taking place in a mansion.....really brings out that SUPERNATURAL vibe.
The ending though...MAN FATHERS AND DAUGHTERS REALLY HAVE IT TOUGH IN THE KIRBY UNIVERSE :')

Here are my top manhwa picks
Category: reincarnation/rebirth
Death Is The Only Ending For The Villainess: Penelope Eckart reincarnated as the adopted daughter of Duke Eckart and the villainess of a reverse harem dating sim. The problem is, she entered the game at its hardest difficulty, and no matter what she does, death awaits her at every ending! Before the “real daughter” of Duke Eckart appears, she must choose one of the male leads and reach a happy ending in order to survive. But the two brothers always pick a fight with her over every little thing, as well as a crazy crown prince, whose routes all lead to death. There’s even a magician who’s enamoured with the female lead, and a loyal slave knight! But somehow, the favourability meters of the male leads increase the more she crosses the line with them! Alternative Name: Death Is The Only Ending For The Villain / Villains Are Destined to Die

What's Wrong with Being the Villainess?: Yoon Dohee transmigrates into the body of a villainess born with a silver spoon in her mouth and succeeds in completely turning her life around. With fierce and confident looks so unlike her actual timid personality, she becomes perfection itself by utilizing her knowledge as a graduate of a prestigious university.I thought as a villainess I would find only hatred and my own quick death, but this is totally the jackpot!!! Alternate name: Being A Wicked Woman Is Comfortable And Pleasant / so what if am the villainess? It's such a nice and comfortable lifestyle

The Way to Protect the Female Lead’s Older Brother: I accidentally took possession of someone in a 19+ reverse harem novel. The problem is that I became Roxana Agriche, the older sister of the sub-villain. My damn father kidnapped the heroine’s brother. Now, is the only thing left to meet a terrible end from the vengeance of the heroine? But what if I can avoid that horrible development? “I’m also interested in this toy.” ‘I’ll protect you until you can get out of here safely.’ The heroine’s brother, Cassis Pedalian, will definitely be able to pay me back later. Alternative Names: How to Protect The Heroine's Older Brother/ The Way to Keep the Older Brother of the Heroine Safe

The Golden Haired Elementalist: I thought I was dead, but when I woke up, I was reincarnated as a nobleman's daughter?! The only thing I did in the seventeen years of my first life was studying. Now that I'm alive again, I won't live just to study! The second life of an ordinary middle school girl with a slightly strange personality, Jean, begins an unstoppable journey on this continent!Alternate name: The Golden Haired Wizard

The Duchess’ 50 Tea Recipes: When I opened my eyes I had become the duchess. But something isn’t right. I went as far as becoming a character but I’m just a duchess in name that gets mistreated by the maids and ignored by her husband. What a crappy life! Gosh, I don’t know what to do anymore. I’ll just quietly enjoy my tea, was what I thought. “Can you prepare tea for me again next time?” Something’s gone wrong with my cold husband!

My Husband Hides His Beauty: There is a family, who for generations, were rumored to be monsters. The lord of the Halstead castle, Erden. He adorns a mask to hide his scary face. Leticia, who was sent to marry Lord Halstead in place of her sisters, began to be referred to as ‘the woman who married the monster’ and was pitied by others. but there is a secret that they don’t know. “I’m always grateful to you, wife. You’re so kind to the unsightly me…” “well, since I’m Erden’s wife.” “I need to divorce you soon so you won’t be troubled by such things anymore… I’m sorry but I lost the divorce papers.” Well of course, that’s because I burnt them. “So I need more time…I think it’ll take more time.” I need to spread more scary rumors about the north to the lawyers. I am definitely not divorcing such a handsome husband!!! Alternative Name: My Secretly Hot Husband
