Oh, You’re Cool [BI WENJUN] Imagine
Tumblr media
*GIF CREDITS TO THE ORIGINAL CREATOR!*
[REQUEST: Hello, I love your Au's so much♥️ Can I request for a Au with Wenjun pls? anything is good✨]
Ever since you were younger, Bi Wenjun was always in your life. Not because you were his friend - oh no, no, nooo. He was best friends with your older brother Xinchun. A part of you never really liked him when you were little. He was just as annoying as your brother. Whatever Xinchun did to make you cry, Wenjun was always present for it. The two of them used to chase you around with worms, ruin your chalk art on the sidewalk, steal your snacks - heck, Wenjun even poured sand in your hair when you guys took a trip to the beach that one time.
But when Wenjun moved one summer, you thought you would never see him again. Finally, a part of you thought. You could finally catch your breath.
For a while, you didn’t really think about Wenjun. He was an old memory who appeared vaguely late at night when you couldn’t sleep. But as you grew older, a part of you always wondered what happened to him.
“Y/N!” a voice snapped, causing you to look up. It’s Zhengting. He taps his foot, one hand is on his hip and the other is holding a burnt tray of cookies. “You forgot to set the timer again!” he scolds.
“I’m sorry,” you reply, slightly bowing. “I won’t forget again, I promise!”
“Yeah, yeah,” he sighs, rushing off to make another batch.
You look around the coffee shop and take a deep breath. You knew that Zhengting wasn’t that upset since there was barley anyone in here but he did have a thing about wasting product or whatever.
“He’ll get over it. Don’t worry,” Justin smiles from where he’s wiping the tables.
You nod, “I know.”
It’s starting to rain a little harder outside. You can hear the thunder clap in the distance. Zhengting has the radio playing softly in the background. It was almost peaceful.
Almost.
The door bell rings as someone enters. They’re dripping wet, shaking the droplets off the best they could at the doorstep. You softly seeth.
“Justin, I’m going to take you home today, okay?” You say. The teenager usually rides his skateboard home but after seeing the man before you, it made you sort of nervous that he would catch a cold.
“I’ll let my parents know,” he smiles, walking off to the back.
“Welcome to Zhengting’s Coffee Shop!” you greet as the tall man approaches the countee. “What can I get you started with?”
“I’ll take one black coffee,” he says.
Wow, you’re cool, you think. A lot if students - boys especially - get this drink and it always makes you think that they do it just for the show. I mean, nobody in their right mind actually likes black coffee, right?
“Y/N!” Justin calls, coming around the corner as you take the man’s money. You hum, not looking up but acknowledging him. “Zhengting says that if you want, you can take a break. He says I can run the register!”
“Did he really say that last part?” you ask skeptically.
“No,” Justin sighs.
“That I did not!” Zhengting chuckles, emerging from the back. “Justin, go make that man’s order. Y/N, take your break.” You nod, sliding around the counter, taking your drink with you. “Hey, wait!” Zhengting stops you. You turn around, raising an eyebrow. He simply slides you one if the muffins from the display case.
“Thank you,” you smile. Zhengting always made sure his workers ate on their break ever since he had an incident where your coworker, Yanchen, got sick from not eating. He always makes sure everyone works on a happy stomach - especially Justin even though all they do is bicker all the time.
You take a seat in the corner of the store and pull out your phone, scrolling through your news feed.
Suddenly, someone clears their throat, causing you to look up. It’s the same man from earlier.
“Do you mind if I sit here?” he gestures in front of you. “I don’t like to eat alone.”
You scoff at that last line. “You sound like my brother,” you say, waving to the seat in front of him.
“I mean, he was my best friend,” he says nonchalantly as he takes a seat.
“I’m so sorry for your loss,” you reply. “You must miss your sanity.”
He chuckles, shaking his head. “You haven’t changed a bit.”
That statement makes you crease your eyebrows together in confusion. “Do I know you?” you ask.
“Don’t tell me you forgot about me,” he pouts. “After all I did when I was a kid, I thought you would shiver at the sight of me.”
“Bi Wenjun?...” you whisper. The man nods. “Oh my god. Bi Wenjun!” you exclaim, hugging him over the table. “I didn’t even recognize you without snot running down your nose!”
“Hey!” he whines as you pull away. “I’ve learned how to wipe it in recent years!”
“I’m glad you did,” you laugh. “What are you doing here? When did you come back?”
“I got a job offer here,” he explains. “I came back last week. I told your brother already so we’re going to hang out pretty soon.”
“That’s good,” you nod, taking a sip of your drink. He nods, mixing his coffee around in the cup. “You actually like that stuff?” you scrunch your nose. “I never even took you for a coffee drinker.”
“Things change in five years, huh?” he smiles.
“God, has it been that long?” you sigh.
“We should catch up,” he says. “You and I.” You nod at his statement, agreeing quietly. “Let me take you for a meal one of these days. My treat as a way to apologize for everything I did to you when we were kids,” he offers.
“I’m always down for free food,” you laugh.
“Could you possibly make it out today?” he raises his eyebrows.
“Oh. I mean, I would but I have to take Justin home. He lives far away and-“
“No, you don’t!” Justin all but yells from the counter.
“Are...Are you guys listening to my conversation?!” you sqeal.
“At least be a more discreet about it,” Zhengting snaps at the younger one.
“We have been wiping the same two tables for fifteen minutes now!” Justin shoots back.
Zhengting rolls his eyes and decides to ignore it. “Listen, Y/N. I’ll take Justin home. I can promise to make sure he reaches the porch but whether he’s dead or alive when we get there depends on his attitude.”
Justin rolls his eyes and comes up beside you, leaning down to not so quietly whisper in your ear. “Listen, Jiejie. The two of us know you haven’t been on a date for as long as I’ve been alive. This is your chance! This guy is handsome and obviously has lost some brain cells since he wants to go out with you!” Wenjun laughs at this, making Justin blush and once again yell whisper in your ear, “Oh crap, Jiejie! I think he heard me!”
You push the younger one away, smacking him on the butt and giggling when he yelps out in pain.
“Looks like you’ve got no choice but to go to dinner with me,” Wenjun smiles.
“I guess so,” you reply.
-
“Wow,” you sigh after dinner. “HaiDiLao? You should really apologize to me often,” you laugh as you guys leave the restaurant.
The entire dinner was spent catching the two of you up. The entire time, you found youself wondering if Wenjun had always been this funny. You barley caught your breath after he told you all his embarrassing stories and jokes. He even pulled out a yoyo at one point and showed you sone tricks.
The air around you guys is frosted with the remnants of rain. You found yourself shivering as a gush of wind blew past you.
“Here,” Wenjun smiled, wrapping his jacket around your shoulders.
“Thanks,” you whisper.
A part of you is glad that it was dark out. Your cheeks burned bright pink but if anyone asked, it was nipped from the wind.
Wenjun approaches the steps to your house, a comfortable silence falling over the both of you. He has his hands shoved deep in his pockets as he look around.
“It’s still the same house,” he smiles. “I have so many memories here.”
“Like the time you scrapped your knee and cried,” you remind.
“I was thinking more about my first kiss.”
And oh.
He does remember that.
The two of you were younger at the time. Xinchun was still at practice when Wenjun came to find him so the two of you ended up hanging out for a bit. You wanted to play house and Wenjun happily agreed as long as he got to play the dad. You decided to use your doll was the baby.
You don’t exactly remember what happened but you do remember Wenjun telling you that parents kiss often and well, next thing you know, Wenjun planted a wet kiss on your lips.
“I’ve always had a crush on you,” Wenjun suddenly speaks up, snapping you from your daydream.
“You what?” you gape at him.
He bites his lip, “I don’t know. When we were kids, I always had a crush on you but I never said anything because I thought your brother would be mad.” He smiles softly and takes a step closer, pushing your hair behind your ear. “But now that I’m older, I don’t really care anymore.”
“Wenjun,” you whisper as he slowly leans in.
His lips connect with yours and it’s then that you realize that Wenjun isn’t some snot nosed kid anymore. He was a man now who had grown up gracefully.
He deepens the kiss, pressing your body against the pillar on your porch.
All you could think of now was Wenjun and how nice this felt. You thought of all the times you would unconsciously think of him. You though about how you always thought he was kind of cool when you were younger and how you had your own little crush on him.
He pulls away, opening his eyes slowly.
“Was - uh, was that okay?” he asks, licking his lips.
“More than okay,” you smile, wrapping your arms around his neck to pull him in for another kiss.
When the two of you pull away again, he leans his forehead against yours and sighs.
“I’ve been waiting to do this forever,” he whispers.
He leaves little pecks all over your face for a while before he finally decides that he should go.
“Let’s keep this from your brother for a bit,” he says as he’s walking away.
“Why? We’re not anything official,” you tease.
“Not yet,” he winks.
And with that, he’s gone.
You open the door and walk inside, sighing. Your head was still dizzy, high off of the feeling Wenjun gave you.
“Why are you smiling like that?” Xinchun asks as he leaves the kitchen.
“I just had a really good night,” you reply, walking up the stairs.
“Hey!” he calls after you. “Wenjun is back in town and he’s offering dinner. Wanna come?” your brother asks.
You smile and nod, “Yeah. Goodnight, Xinchun.”
“Goodnight,” he replies.
The entire night, you stay up thinking of tonight’s events. You can’t help but think it was some sort of dream. It’s almost one in the morning when you hear your phone buzz. You pick it up and can’t help the grin that happens to fall across your face.
Had a lot of fun, tonight. See you soon, gorgeous. -wenjun aka your soon to be boyfriend
