Elves being able to see a whole spectrum of colours that mortals can’t.
Elves wearing the gaudiest possible colour combinations… that just look white to mortals.
Beren genuinely not understanding a conversation he overhears between Finrod and Celegorm about gaudy colours and clashing clothes because to him they are just wearing white. Plain white. And ok maybe the jewellery is a little excessive but also not the worst he’s seen on Finrod (there’s no nauglamir for one).
Tuor repeatedly being assured that Gondolin is actually quite bright and colourful, it just looks like everything is white to him. He doesn’t understand it, but he accepts it. Especially when Idril starts wearing more colours he can see.
Arwen taking advantage of this same thing Ages of the world later to wear the Most Hideous Outfits possible and watch the elven ambassadors squirm.

Concept: Earendil, slayer of Ancalgon, gets to decide what to do with the body. He has a few ideas.
A set of dragon scale armor for himself; for safety when fighting giant void monsters
Some lovely, shimmering dragon's horn jewelry for Elwing, who deserves all the shiny things
A set of dragon tooth daggers for Idril, who deserves to be able to commit violence
A dragon bone sword for Elros because that's sick as fuck
A dragon bone ocarina for Elrond that is definitely not a passive aggressive dig at anyone else who may or may not have given his child an instrument
(Look Earendil learned to play the ocarina from Voronwe when he was young passing it on is important to him)
And the rest of the corpse? Well, let's just say Elwing and Earendil's lighthouse back in Valinor has a very unusual foundation
And some very interesting architectural features

Quiet morning in Gondolin.
Idril is sketching her secret tunnels before court opens, and Eärendil wants to imitate his mother in everything.
The sea lion plush is a stealthy reference to @mynameisjessejk 's otter mayhem, it was a gift from Tuor. The bust on the left is Elenwë, with a painting of Tirion above, because Idril barely remembers either but Turgon doesn't want her to forget.
I don't know who originated the fanon bit about Idril having literal silver feet, but I of course couldn't resist. Which of course led to way too much research on balancing functionality and aesthetics on prosthetics, because Idril deserves beauty.
(all of my Disabled Tolkien Characters art and posts)
Her dress is inspired by the beautiful Cretian traditional gowns. I originally intended for this painting to be more pastel-coloured to feel peaceful, but my brain went "no, shiny!" and who am I to say no to that.
Made for the Gondolin discord server calendar!
Some details because I went all in on this one.

Turgon and Idril watching aurorae* dance across the sky on the Helcaraxë for @nolofinweanweek
Kind of a sequel to this because I think that in addition to all the trauma and hardship he experienced on the Ice, Turgon also felt terrible about the fact that he himself had a safe and relatively blissful childhood in Valinor, while his daughter had to grow up a half-orphan in a frozen wasteland.
*Since aurorae are caused by solar winds, let's just say the Valar were already working on the sun and in the process caused a lot of solar wind to hit Arda. Much to the amazement (and terror?) of the exilic Noldor, who had never seen anything like northern lights before.
