Scarlet Rose redesign!

Explanations + mini rant under the cut (I wrote a lot this time sorry!!!)

Scarlet is such an interesting doll because she’s so beautiful to me, but when you look at the individual pieces it’s just sad (hashtag it’s just sad)

A hoodie and sweatpants/jeans (I’m not too sure what they are, if anyone has the doll please tell me!) are not exactly the kind of fashion we as consumers want to see on these dolls, I think they are cute pieces for mixing and matching but as an outfit and as the ONLY outfit it’s boring… (also I didn’t realize until making this post, she doesn’t even have a shirt underneath her sweater:/)

I have spoken about this before; with one outfit it’s difficult to get a grasp on the character and their style, and mixed with the fact that there is minimal thought put into this character (why is she writing storywood, a supposed fairytale story, but her profile says she writes science fiction? It just doesn’t make the most sense to me? Maybe she’s just a fan and she has merch idk? But also her whole aesthetic seems weird to me)

Enough ranting about silly design choices, now time to explain the pieces I chose for her!

For her sweater I wanted to keep her in something still comfy, but make it more edgy and fashionable, I feel like certain elements of her outfit have an edge to them, her earrings and hair pins, and some of them don’t…she feels like an alternative fashion girl who came home and got changed into a comfy hoodie and sweats

I thought the design was a bit red heavy for the shoes that I knew I needed to include, so I needed something black to balance it out and I thought a corset might be interesting so I chose this one from Alexander McQueen spring/summer 2011. I feel that the leaves give it a fairytale vibe which I tried to give hints of to tie into Storywood! Obviously I would rather have silver rather than gold hardware but it is what it is 🤷‍♀️

I originally was choosing between this skirt and a Chapova Lowena skirt but I thought it would be too similar to Luna, so I went with this Blumarine skirt, I liked the buckles and wanted to include some kind of hardware on it to match with her earrings and hair clips.

These shoes were a must!!! There was no question I knew she needed these shoes. Something about them with the old wax stamp gives off old princess-y fairytale vibes (also I just think Vivienne Westwood is neat <3)

This might be a controversial opinion but some of y’all need to learn to pick your battles and stop chasing the validation of PJMs and JJKs. Who cares if JJKs are hyping some fictional friendship and writing fanfictions because Jungkook stood next to some random dude twice? Who cares if solo fanbases crop out and don’t post the whole picture (that no one should be reposting btw)? Who cares if PJMs and JJKs don’t acknowledge their friendship? As long as they aren’t dragging Jimin or JK, or even overtly saying anything negative about their bond, literally why do some of you guys care what solos of all people think?

It’s odd to me that some jkkrs will go into solo spaces and then try to get them to acknowledge a member you know they hate and regularly drag. What are you expecting to happen? JJKs actually not mentioning or paying attention to JM is literally the best case scenario. I absolutely wish they would never look at him or talk about him or post anything about him ever again. I literally don’t care if they think JK loves random solider #2 or Mingyu or an inanimate object more than he loves JM and neither should you. They are NEVER going to acknowledge Jikook’s friendship, so stop expecting them to. That is literally one of the least offensive things I’ve seen them do this week alone and it doesn’t actually hurt Jimin or JK, it’s just annoying.

100% make fun of them in your own spaces for being so lame and immature about Jikook enlisting together, they ARE super weird for hyping up this random friendship they suddenly invented (and yes I know they were likely doing it on purpose), it IS really frustrating and sad how dismissive so many people are about Jikook -- but I still don’t understand what some jkkrs were expecting. I sincerely hope that whenever the Jikook travel show drops they keep cropping them out and pretending they’re besties with random bartenders and camera men because the alternative is them dragging JM and JK and their entire bond nonstop. Solos are NEVER going to acknowledge their friendship and I wonder why some jkkrs seem to want them to so bad? You are CHOOSING to go into their spaces and be annoyed that these people who call JM slurs and animal names on the regular don’t want to acknowledge his friendship with JK - and some of you are literally antagonizing these people you KNOW have no morals over something like this.

This whole issue snowballed because so many people are bored and miserable right now and tkkrs especially are looking for a fight ever since Jikook enlisted together (or honestly probably since Tokyo). I see how jkkrs can make an innocent post and get jumped and tkkrs can say the most heinous shit about JM and jkk imaginable and get away with it -- but if you’re active online you should know how it is and learn to pick your battles if you actually care about the people you stan. There was no reason for JM or JK to get dragged over something like this.

Anyways this isn’t the end of the world or anything, but I did watch this whole unnecessary drama unfold and opened my twitter account this morning to see report accounts STILL trying to clean it up, so I wanted to rant a bit. I’m sure the Jikook show will unleash the most heinous discourse imaginable so I’m saving my energy for that. Obviously people can do whatever they want, and I’m not saying jkkrs shouldn’t rant or be upset about it in their own spaces, I was just surprised by some of the reactions. Jikook enlisting together makes it obvious to anyone with a brain how close they are, that’s why the people who hate them are being especially weird and petty and obnoxious. JJKs were writing about how JK tattooed ARMY on his knuckles because he knows ARMYs hurt him or whatever just the other day so idk why some jkkrs were expecting them to suddenly celebrate his friendship with JM who they literally hate more than anyone else.

THE ALASKAN DREAM CONSISTS OF HUGE FUCKING FISH ‼️ I don’t know if y’all in the Lower 48 also learn about fish in your schools, especially salmon (and yes in Alaska we do indeed say salmon like ‘samen’, salmon without the L cuz we’re always winning no we’re not), I had to learn atleast like two weeks worth of school of purely salmon and watching salmon documentaries and dissecting salmon cuz of how important they are to Alaska 😭 (I didn’t mind tho cuz I love learning about Alaska) (also, a really long rant below, I don’t expect y’all to read all or any of it— it’s not a sad or deep rant, just like a long letter of appreciation for you guys)

Btw I’m sorry I couldn’t do more this post :( my heads been a little preoccupied with some struggles so I couldn’t focus on drawing much else, also I just simply hit a creative stump is all as well, I have considered talking a little deep about me (or technically, my life a little bit) for y’all, I dunno why, maybe it’s simply the fact most people I’ve talked to within this fandom n such has simply just been so nice and relaxing (although, I’m aware I don’t interact that much or consistently) sometimes I really like deep conversation as well, or just spouting random facts and ideas I have, it’s nice, especially if there’s people that atleast somewhat get my rambles— but I suppose this is a thank you, to be honest, because I love that you guys like my work and sometimes even use them or build off of them, even if I think the idea I had was a bad idea (Punk Ny for example was an idea I was worried about not being a good one), most of the time I don’t edit them out because I think maybe one person out there might like it and want me to keep it there, like my girlfriend who encourages my ideas or helps me shape them, I never had this type of interaction and it makes me so giddy at times, so I really appreciate it :)

Also, I know I’m not obligated to draw so much with each post (maybe I’ll talk about how long my process is and what I do for most posts) but sometimes I feel like I owe you guys it because a lot of you are very respectful, and a lot of states do not have the amount of content that one who is passionate about would want, I mean, that’s why I joined this place and immediately started drawing Alaska like a mad man since there wasn’t much content about him (especially specifically about him), im passionate about my state, I yearn to know as much as I can and see how others think of it and us, I wanna do the same for other states but I worry that I don’t feel the same amount of passion for them as I do Alaska and I know that’s fine, but I still feel bad about it because I think I can do better for you guys, Indiana and Arizona and North Dakota for example I feel I can do more, even if you guys are content with what I came up with, but it’s very relieving to hear the expectations were not unreachable like I expected you guys to be about them, and I’m glad you guys aren’t critical about the fact I’m very inconsistent with Alaskas design because I’m not quite sure what I want for him and how much his design feels like him so I’m still trying always

It’s so interesting how spot-on you were with the thoughts about toxic Beaujes folxs fleeing to D20. The same person who’s been starting shit on twitter just found out that CR doesn’t allow mass-produced zines, and used that fact to make some batshit generalization about how “that’s why the fandom is corporatized and violent and racist towards any canon-contradicting fanon like all my beaujester friends told me and now I’m parroting it uncritically”.

So I think this might be my last post on this unless some more wild shit goes down (very possible) not because I disagree but just because I am also trying to be conscious of overshadowing my genuine excitement for The Ravening War. But yeah...like, I followed a few people who were CR fanartists until Beauyasha started happening and unfollowed them once that went down; it was extremely exhausting watching a bunch of (mostly white) people in their early 20s suddenly claim a show they'd watched over 200 episodes of was hopelessly problematic simply because their ship didn't happen. It was a truly vile combination of normal shipping drama plus appropriated social justice language about said shipping drama plus, as others have noted, middle-class white queer people [a demographic I fit into myself] shoving aside narratives about POC or working class people because they aren't explicitly queer narratives (or even narratives about queer people that aren't to their exact specifications of what queerness looks like; see people who refuse to respect Molly's pronouns or who erase Vax's bisexuality because he was primarily romantically involved with a woman).

The zine thing is fucking wild in particular for the following reasons:

The two CR-centric zines that person has mentioned as not ultimately moving forward were both zines that intended to pay the artists, ie, at least partially for profit rather than charity zines.

I am not personally in a creative industry but I've been reliably told by basically everyone who is that CR's policy is boilerplate.

CR has a pretty extensive history of showcasing and hiring fanartists; this is not opposition to fan content, which is how this wack job is attempting to portray it.

Similarly no one is devaluing fan content; they're just saying "you are throwing a big old hissy fit in public about the hypothetical scenario of The Ravening War not honoring a ship that has, and I am not joking here, six fics on Ao3 in total." (For reference: Lapin/Theo, a ship that person actively dislikes, has 56 works, which, idk I feel that's almost ten times as widely accepted fanlore.)

Their twitter currently is bragging about their cookbook zine (which as far as I know wasn't based in fanon but was just a cookbook with fanart in it) and not about their currently active charity zine (which is the one about Belizabeth and Citrina). Also that charity zine is available for free which really undercuts the "for charity" aspect. Anyway a cool thing to do is to not buy it, but just donate directly to the International Rescue Committee or your refugee-supporting charity of choice.

Anyway. This was an opportunity to rant a lot but I will leave you with this: I am not the right person, obviously, to enumerate every possible issue with CR's portrayal of characters of color nor the lack of diversity of the cast. I think discussions of racism and lack of representation in actual play are important to have. But it's telling that fanartists, specifically, who left CR over Beau and Jester not getting together but pretended this was about social justice, always seem to go to D20. Or NADDPod. Or Friends at the Table. Or have their art featured in the TAZ graphic novels. All majority white or entirely white main casts.

They rarely seem to go to, say, Rivals of Waterdeep, or Into the Motherlands, or Three Black Halflings (and those are still some of the better known examples, frankly). People complaining that Critical Role hates lesbians for having a lesbian relationship they didn't like never seem to check out The Broadswords, or use resources like this to find women-led actual play. It's about getting clicks; they want to find an existing fandom to adore them rather than use the power they claim to wield to popularize something underrated.

Anyway that's the last reason why I think I'm done for now: I think the best and most satisfying thing is to starve them of attention, and to enjoy the Ravening War and art and fic about it from fans who are happy to be here.

I know the characters are still the same, I know we’re gonna get revisits and personally I’m excited for them I love shows/movies where there’s a shift in perspective I think it’s so fun. However I do think they gotta be careful when doing the revisits bc some things would be problematic/racist, and I have read your rant which is why I say that you agree w this. You also agree with this in your response. What I’m confused about thooo is the contradiction in both your rant and your response to me where you say that “ if I‘m going to see anyone scream “bad writing“ or “Louis being made a liar or the memories revisited/changed is racism“ when the changes will hit I‘m just gonna block you.” And then say that it has nothing to do with the problematic directions the show could take to the revisits “because there are many traps there to consider because of the racial change”. And then say “but it’s not bad writing, or racism, if and when these things happen”. I don’t understand, what is it then? Or maybe we disagree about what would actually be a problematic way to revisit ep5? Would something have to be super explicitly racist for it to be considered problematic or bad?

As for listening to the Black cast and creators, I do and I agree with them as well? Jacob says Louis lies and I didn’t need him to say that for me to see it already in s1 like Louis’ lies ab tbe extent in which Claudia resented him, how much he loved Lestat to the point of not being able to kill him etc. I’m literally saying if he lies ab the ABUSE it would be badddd which is why I don’t think they’ll go that way, even if Louis lying ab things is canon (+++ how are things being canon suddenly an argument for why they wouldn’t be bad if adapted in the show??).

And then the other anon saying “why would it be bad if Lily was shady anyone of any race can be a villain” bruhh like what evils could she have committed to deserve death? As for the comments you got on your fic, I personally did not read your fic but I’m sure you write v well and I’m assuming the comments are super hurtful and unnecessary and things like “kys”, which I find the casual use of in online spaces in general very weird so I’m genuinely sorry that you received that in your inbox. However I’m talking about how even getting just a “hey that’s racist” would also be not a great thing to receive like no one wants to be called that. Getting anything negative at all in the inbox is not great so getting even wilder stuff is very hurtful, I get that, which is why I’m trying hard not to come off in any type of way that would suggest that. People saying I’m tired of this discourse, plz know this is in response to your rant as well as a lot of the asks ab the jassad pairing, not just for discourse’s sake. Personally, I think it’s important and interesting to discuss how changes in certain characters’ races could affect the story moving forward, and I like that you talk ab your theories for how they will adapt s2 that stuff is fun and very fandom like behavior. But when ppl point out that some things won’t work bc of the race (which again u agree w in ur rant + ur response) u talk ab how some fans who say this pair it w hurtful language and then by dismissing the hurtful language you dismiss the notion that the suggestion would be racist or problematic in the first place which is very contradictory. But I guess since I have not read all of Anne Rice’s work my opinion ain’t shit.

I don’t condone certain aspects of the Outlast lore edit: please read my reblog regarding what i say about Outlast 2 it’s not relevant to my point, plus this is just a rant about something stupid and specific plus i have no idea what i’m talking about regarding Outlast 2 for the most part plus i’m being hypocritical (namely the jessica thing i think it could have been done better and CSA didn’t rlly have to be a part of it to show religious trauma but i get it when you look at the big picture of Outlast and Outlast 2, it just could have been infinitely less graphic and still held the same weight) but literally it’s going too far saying shit like FOR EXAMPLE “making Richard Trager a rapist was unnecessary” Id argue it’s one of the only characters that like actually makes sense from a lore perspective and if you rlly get the character you’d understand why it makes sense. Idk how to say this without sounding like it’s a feature i enjoy about the character, I obviously don’t but like i cannot stand seeing my favorite characters misinterpreted and along with Eddie, Trager is one of the most misinterpreted characters in Outlast. He literally has 0 reedemable qualities, he’s an outright rich prick who never had to face any consequences his entire life, he’s been privileged since the day he was born, and anyone who tries to act like he has a good bone in his body is so wrong. I hate to say it (no i don’t lol) but he’s just plain evil and i love him for it. He’s not real, his actions have never hurt a real person please keep that in mind. The main story wouldn’t have happened the way it did if he never did what he did, they’d have to come up with a whole other backstory for him AND a reason women were removed. It’s a horror game with dark, explicit subjects due to the fact that they’re exploring such a unique subject, with characters who are mentally ill, affected by the engine, both or just plain terrible people and it obviously would have things that may trigger or make people uncomfortable, and that has to be up to you to decide to not think about it or indulge into content that might do those things. Do not bring cancel culture into fucking Outlast, do not try to babyproof it. Go watch other forms of media with lighter subjects and characters instead of acting like it’s the developers fault for creating characters and plotlines with the whole point to scare people, shock them, make them uncomfortable, etc or remaking the characters into something they’re not bc it doesn’t fit your idea of them. Rant over if I see one more person misinterpret Richard Trager i will start taking peoples eyes. (also more rants abt Rick’s character coming be prepped)

Him. Plushtrap is a character that appears briefly in FNaF 4 and Ultimate custom night. This is a plush modeled off of Springtrap from the previous game.

Seems pretty reasonable right? Wrong. Why the hell is there a plush of Springtrap. The corpse of a murderer in a fursuit that nobody should know about. He was completely forgotten until Phone Dude found him. There’s a lot wrong with this. First of all, a plush of a murderer. Safe to say, acknowledging and profiting off of several deaths caused by and because of the actions and negligence of their own company isn’t a very good idea. There is no real reason to actually make this plush. Adding on to this why the fuck are they making plushies of a literal known corpse. Why would this company appealing to children make a plush of a corpse. Even though you can’t really see the corpse, 2 seconds of googling about him will have literally any kid looking at images of murderer corpses which idk man might not be the best thing and lastly why the fuck does anyone know who springtrap is. Now I did some research and a few people were also curious on this and people usually respond with something along the lines of “plushtrap is just a spring bonnie plush that the player character hallucinates him as a springtrap plush” but first of all in Fazbear Frights (which is a controversial source for lore but. Idc) the Fazbear company does make Plushtraps (which is weird and bullshit as we’ve discussed) and second of all WHY WOULD THE CHARACTER HALLUCINATE SPRING BONNIE AS SPRINGTRAP. Again, literally nobody knows who springtrap is, so unless this is post FNaF 3 Michael (which I’m pretty sure we are but still) or we’re playing as fucking phone dude we simply have no reason to hallucinate him as Plushtrap.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuut I do have some broken and weak theories if you’ll listen

The general explanation for Scraptrap is that Afton used another different Spring Bonnie suit, but this suit was one of the springlock failures mentioned by Phone Guy in FNaF 3, but what about the person who got springlocked? What happened to them? There are two ways that this could relate to plushtrap, one explanation is they died and became RWQ, and plushtrap is modeled after them, or they haunted the Player Character’s Spring Bonnie plush and physically altered the design somehow to make the plush look like Springtrap? Idk man there’s not really a reasonable explanation for Plushtrap that I can think of.

Little rant but I saw a semi recent post about how RedCrackle is weird cause Carmen mentioned how she sees Graham as a big brother and that shipping them is weird cause if the brother/sister dynamic and I’m like……. My rough theory on Haibara & the supporting character woman in Detective Conan Movie 26: Kurogane no Submarine

The Reason Why Haibara Was Crying In Tears & More

feat. my own made-up assumptions & delusions XD

* mainly based on the official preview videos, NOT the actual movie!

* Note: I originally wished to make this post earlier and more organized, but time flied OTL and now the movie is already at theater in Japan XD I think I will NOT try to read the movie spoilers (by fans) myself anytime soon, though..!

First, we all know Haibara = Shiho = Sherry is the main character for this movie, who is an ex-BO member, who lost her big sister Akemi.

Apparently her name is Naomi Argento, so I’ll call her just Naomi!

The very “supporting” character that appears in the previews more often than Ran and the Detective Boys trio... I wonder why! So suspicious :’))

To me, Naomi feels like Akemi & Elena Miyano, Haibara’s big sister & mother. At first, I didn’t know her name was Naomi, and now there’s even more similarity with Akemi & Elena asdfg

The Europol woman who was killed (probably) by Gin has the (almost) same hair color & forelock as Naomi’s, so they might be “related”...as (bio) sisters :’)))

Maybe, the murdered Europol woman is Naomi’s big sis. The engineer Naomi developed the new system related to the security camera & face authentication in order to find out who killed her big sis - so that she could take revenge on the culprit(s) - Black Organization = BO. However, the BO obviously hated the new system already. That’s why BO kidnapped the engineer Naomi, and the battle or war came to begin.

I’m kinda 50:50 (lol) if Naomi = Pinga (the new BO member to die for this movie) or not. I mean, Pinga seems to have some similar hair color (& braid) to Naomi’s...idk XD

Besides, Pinga appears in the movie poster, even if s/he barely appears in the previews...while Naomi isn’t(?) in the poster, even if she appears in the previews quite a LOT (again, more often than Ran!). It looks like Naomi is even staying together with Haibara after both got kidnapped. I know the new BO member is more important than some supporting character, but still lol

(yeah, I think that’s Naomi on the upper right!)

If Naomi = Pinga, then Naomi & Haibara would share even more parallels - the active BO member now totally betrays BO after their big sis got murdered by BO. This adds even more dramatic elements, so I high-key wish it happen for real tbh :’)))

Vermouth knocked Naomi out and stole some secret info from her, without killing her right away. But it might be that Pinga was very secretive like Vermouth or RUM, and so BO members never knew Pinga’s daily or real face = Naomi. If this is true, then Naomi was so unfortunate that she got picked up as the targeted engineer? asdfg Or it’s just destined to happen at some point from the start, cuz the new system is that dangerous and threatening to BO...

Q. But, if Naomi = Pinga, then how about her own face getting recognized by the new system...?

A. I have no idea :’))) She’s the engineer for it, so maybe she exceptionally corrupted some data in regards to herself with the administrator mode? Ooops XD

Maybe here Naomi is ranting to Haibara about how much she wanted to take revenge on Gin and destroy BO for her big sis’ death on her own (the new system), how frustrating it is that her plan got completely ruined, and that there’s no hope left now, cuz BO kidnapped them to kill them soon. She probably thought Haibara could never understand her feelings, oops :’)

There’re some lines from Haibara in the previews, like “I’ve changed...so, have faith!”, as if...she’s trying to encourage “someone” that a BO member is still able to make a choice to change their life for the better in the light, no longer living as a criminal in darkness, or such :’))

I mean, current Haibara is supposed to be (acting like) a 7 years old “kid” and hide her actual identity from almost everyone else. I genuinely don’t see why she would say that kind of line to “a non-BO, ordinary person” who she just met as fellow kidnapped victims, much less to any of the few people who already know her true identity.

To persuade Naomi who gave up, Haibara revealed her personal backstories in regards to her own big sis and parents. And how much her life has changed thanks to Agatha, Conan = Shinichi, Ran, the Detective Boys trio, and so on. And how OP Conan is XD that they, especially Conan, would never give up on her and would definitely come to save her, no matter what. Naomi quickly understands in regards to Conan cuz that young boy suspiciously dodged the new system too well, perhaps XD

In fact, Haibara low-key gave up, too, after getting kidnapped (”Bye-bye...Edogawa Conan-kun.”). But she was not alone there, really, and Naomi in despair reminded of her past depressed self and also how she still has been saved by others several times. Now Naomi got impressed to see the girl being genuinely hopeful in a serious manner, even if she looks / is much younger than herself.

After their long and deep talk, Naomi finally agrees to cooperate with Haibara and try to get out of there “alive” together. Two is better than one, and doing something to survive is better than doing nothing but just waiting for death, right? Not to mention both used to be BO members and so have some more than zero(0) (lol) info and knowledge about BO! Once they get to meet Conan, Naomi might be protected by FBI or such (and/or live in the Kudo residence with Subaru = Akai XD near Haibara’s current home ;w;).

However...of course it’s not easy to run away from BO and their traps, after all, especially when even RUM is actively involved. At some point, only one of the two could possibly survive in some super evil situation, and Naomi sacrifices herself to protect Haibara, so that Haibara would not die right there.

If Naomi betrays Haibara and makes her die alone, then both will simply get to die in vain, and she knows it. Even if Naomi alone survives and escapes somehow, realistically she (probably, oops) has NO remaining family members or friends or colleagues she can safely rely on right away, much less against BO - unlike current Haibara, who has her safe place and kind people to go back to.

Besides, Haibara and her ally Conan have some amazing / potential colleagues from Shinichi’s own OP parents, the great(?) detective Kogoro, Japanese Police, FBI, CIA, MI6 (soon lol), etc etc, who could actually stand against BO. That’s why Naomi decided to leave everything to Haibara - even the revenge on BO. Naomi entrusted her life to Haibara, and Haibara is of course so sad :( She got attached to her, only to lose her so soon, because of BO again :((

(This crying scene might be when Haibara just realized she got kidnapped by BO, but shhh XD)

# Naomi was like Haibara herself - she was an active & capable member of BO, but she got mad at Gin/BO for killing her big sis, and so she fully betrayed BO in the end. The two could’ve been not only great colleagues but also close friends and even semi-family sisters who share such a similar life...

It might be also that both didn’t really realize their product (APTX4869 / the new system) would cause the horrible chaos in the world that much until it’s too late.

# Naomi was like the big sis Akemi - she’s (probably) older than teenager Haibara/Shiho, so she might start to see Haibara like a little sister. And/or Haibara sees Akemi from Naomi first, more and more (strong and weak, smiling, actually kind, etc). Naomi eventually died to save Haibara from BO - similar to Akemi, who tried to take Haibara out of BO.

Haibara might scream “Big sis!!!” out loud, and Naomi would get surprised and smile at her “like an angel”, right before she dies or they get separated, possibly ;_;

# Naomi was like the mother Elena or an aunt - she’s probably in 20s or 30s, and her big sis might be in 30s (or 40s?), while Haibara is in like 7 years old body. If Naomi’s big sis lived an average ordinary life, she might’ve had a child of that age, and then Naomi would’ve been an aunt for the child. Haibara was like a niece to Naomi because of the body age gap, which made her even more protective of her. Or even like her own child, if she were not a criminal.

Naomi might leave some last words of advice and encouragement to Haibara - “like a mother”; don’t push everyone else from yourself, don’t try to do everything by yourself alone (like I did), get along with good people (like you’ve been recently), go survive and fight & punch BO in some way (for yourself and me) together with Conan, achieve an ordinary happy long life, and such, perhaps.

...and Haibara did her absolute best as much as possible indeed, not only for herself but also not to make Naomi’s will meaningless. She struggled and almost despaired in the last minute, cuz at that point she’s alone and reached her (physical) limit - until Conan came to rescue and finally found her (= no longer alone).

Haibara reunited with Ran, who is like Akemi or “an angelic big sis” but never going to die.

I wondered for a second if the color is orange overall here because of the sunset in the early evening - but nope, it’s probably from all the fire in the background asdfg The introduced cool facility and ships got exploded and wrecked again XD My point is, I believe this scene is from the ending part = at night / dawn, after Haibara got rescued by Conan and almost everything got wrapped up somehow. (maybe) Ran is hugging Haibara tightly like that, and Haibara is making such emotional faces.

PS. I’m so curious if Haibara would actually take the APTX4869 pill = become an adult(?) and wear dead Naomi’s clothes for hours...or maybe the staff low-key deceived us, and she never takes any pill lol XP

PS. I read some complaints (long ago, not Tumblr) if both Akai and Amuro really had to appear (again) even in the movie where Haibara is supposed to be the main. But, when you think about it...both are deeply related to Akemi; Akai & Akemi were tragic lovers and cousins, and Amuro & Akemi were childhood friends. Additionally, Akai is watching & protecting Haibara now, and Amuro recently(?) tried to “take”(...) her under his wings, out of BO, even if now he thinks she died then.

PS. If my guesses were so wrong here, then welp, my guesses were wrong, I guess uwu XP

The reason being though is because I don't really like sweet things, like too sweet things. So Cheesecake is the best bet, especially sopalilla cheesecake cause it's got cinnamon (I LOVE cinnanon) and it's lined with pastry. So it's not too sweet, but it's also missing is sweetness. Idk, if you haven't had it you should definitely try it. Like its pretty easy to make in my opinion, and the results are AMAZINNGG. I also like strawberry or lemon cake. I love fruity stuff ngl.

I just love how Jason and Bruce are so entangled in each other. I love how NOTHING about them is healthy but also like…there is a core of softness because they both just WANT to be with the other SO MUCH. (As seen in their respective Cheer hallucinations…I will seriously never get over this I will be 124 years old sitting in my Mad Max motorcycle-sidecar screaming to my whippersnapper companion as we drive through the post-apocalyptic desert wastelands, “AND SEE THEIR PERFECT WORLD IS THE CHANCE TO FIND SATISFACTION WITH EACH OTHER!!!!”)

Like I don’t even mean it specifically in a shippy way, they just get SO MESSED UP about each other.

I mean…when Jason died, Bruce genuinely tried to kill the Joker and then did a “kill myself (with extra steps for plausible deniability)” speedrun.

When Bruce “died,” Jason decided to Be Batman—complete with attempting to recruit a Robin! And also went on a miiiinor fratricidal rampage. Just a little one.

So, you know…they’re super normal about each other is what I’m saying.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on this ship?

I’m not really into the “Bruce realizes the error of his ways and that he was mean to Jason and idk maybe is cool with Jason killing or w/e” genre of fics. I understand why people like them, but one of the things I find so compelling with Bruce and Jason is how they so consistently attract and repel each other.

And, like, as a Bruce-stan (although it may not seem like it)…I don’t want him to be okay with killing. And like, yeah, I know he’s gone all sorts of ways in canon wrt his code…but I like him having a line he won’t cross and I like him holding to that line for the heroes in his city.

(Oh yeah and that might be an unpopular opinion wrt Ghostbat in that I don’t like Bruce being all “it’s whatevs girly!” when it comes to Khoa killing people.)

And like…OBVIOUSLY I don’t want Jason to give up killing people (as I have made…uh…abundantly clear in the past lol), so honestly my ideal Bruce&Jason dynamic would be one where they’ll have each other’s backs when the shit hits the fan but they are still, on the books, enemies.

So Batman will still foil Red Hood’s Crime Lord plots…but it would take too much time and too many resources to SOLELY take down the Red Hood.

And Red Hood’s still going to be Crime Lord-ing away…but he’s not going to specifically target the Bats. (Anymore.)

(And then also they have scream-fights and “I need you too much to let you go even though that would probably be objectively better for both of us” sex.)

I think another thing to note is that a lot of the TSATS negativity stems mainly from users on tumblr. I’ve been on twitter & Tik tok and the reaction seems to be overwhelmingly positive. Like the first few days the book came out, seeing tumblr reactions versus other platforms was literally like night and day. I’ve even seen some ppl say they cried a lot or that it’s their fav PJO book! (Which is a surprising but whatever 😭) I have seen some criticisms on the other platforms, sometimes about the writing quality or OOC-ness or being underwhelming, but it still wasn’t all terribly negative. The only place I’ve seen VERY VERY harsh vitriol is on here, and I’m not sure why. personally I thought TSATS was okay and I have my own criticisms, but honestly I have that with every PJO-verse book. Imo some of the takes I’ve seen here are valid, but some are also really really mean and honestly a tad overdramatic, but idk why or what it is about tumblr. I think I’ll stay away from here for a while when chalice comes out.

Ok. So.

You're saying that most of the negative reviews come from Tumblr whereas TikTok and Twitter give mostly good feedback. I think I can offer a few explanations about this.

Tl,dr:

Tumblr allows long posts, whereas Twitter and TikTok have a length-wise limit to their content.

Tumblr is more fandom-centered, a much more suitable place to rant in a book of a franchise.

Tumblr has a different approach, which enables different types of posts to come across you, unlike Twitter.

(Please keep in mind that I don't use TikTok, so most of this would be assumptions based on my limited knowledge about the platform. I have a Twitter account though)

Now. The first point is quite clear. Tumblr doesn't have any limitations to whatever you post on the site (or at least that limit exceeds normal people's capacity of writing/reading per post ajsdhakjdhak), which enables you to give long, complicated, detailed essays on a certain topic.

Which is the best fit if you want to criticize something.

Because unlike complimenting something, when you criticize it, you'd need to give a reason for how and why it is bad (in your opinion). To compliment something, you might just need to say simple things like "OMG I LOVE IT" "This is so adorable I might cry" etc...

Adding to that: sometimes it's just easier to list what you dislike, you know? 🤣🤣🤣 I mean. When you hate something, you'd find it very easy to focus on its flaws to dissect, which results in many rants. Whereas when you love something, you just... love it. Not mentioning sometimes you can find it hard to articulate said love.

In Twitter's case: Twitter has a character limit, which hinders people's need to rant. This appears unsuitable when you want to rant about st in dissatisfaction. Although, it'd be pretty good if you're overwhelmed with love and want to flood the complimenting post with memes.

Yes, there're people writing a whole long ass thread on Twitter. But again, with Tumblr alr providing a function, it's understandable which one would prefer.

TikTok, in addition to having a length cap on their videos - which acts roughly the same as Twitter's character limit, allows only video format. This is just a hypothesis, but I suspect people might be discouraged by the idea of making, filming, and editing a video about something they don't like - rather than just... writing it down. I find the second choice much easier.

Similar to the above, Tumblr is more fandom-centered. The app is literally advertised as for Fandoms and Creators.

When you want to share an opinion on a certain topic, you'd go for those who at least have a semblance of whatever you're talking about, right?

Tumblr is created for fandoms and has its own tag system. This makes it easier when you're targeting a certain group of enjoyers. I doubt that Twitter and TikTok, while having their own tagging systems, would be more effective than Tumblr. (Ppl on Twt rarely use tags when it comes to fandoms......)

Different approaches.

Tumblr, as far as I know, filters content by tag. Which means that if you look into the The sun and the star tag, you'd see everything related to it. If you like something from it, chances are you'd get recommended another post in said tag, regardless of what it is about. Including conflicting opinions.

On Twitter, on the other hand, if you want to see a certain topic, chances are you'd need to:

1/ Follow someone who's active on said topic. Generally, you would go for someone you like/ share some of your sentiments/ you vibe with to follow right? Hence, chances are they would share the same view as you.

2/ Search for the tag. But I doubt people would use tag for this book.

3/ Search for any other keywords. This runs the risk of missing content, which might or might not include the criticizing post.

Of course: This^^ relies heavily on my predictions and assumptions of your engagement. It might not apply that well.

All in all, it all comes down to whether and where people choose to express themselves. I have a Twitter and a Tumblr, and I choose to deliver most of my PJO content on Tumblr. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ You don't see me criticizing on Twt, but I'm def there.

About Chalice though, I don't think you need to worry lol. TSATS has its problems because it focuses on already controversial topics and is put on a pedestal before release, so people tend to be more extreme. Chalice, on the other hand, afaik, is about another average quest by Percy? It's not that... extreme, I mean, and there's hardly and complicated plot. I think of it more as a side story, really. So maybe you don't have to worry that much? lol i do hope so. 😂😂

Cool songs I heard in 2023

Well obviously I am not the busiest doujin music nerd anymore (at least not busy with doujin music in particular) but I still heard a fair amount of cool stuff this year. Going to keep it jp of course, I’m not about to write a long recommendation for Beautiful Mind or Barrel to you all. Bro I have no idea what “Deemo” is but this song from that game has to be the coolest song I’ve heard in these two years. We’ve already liked Ai Ohsera for a while but this goes even further beyond. Honestly, I take my metaphorical hat off to such a majestic piece and hope the "weird rhythm game" money pipe never shuts off cause I'm assuming it's a major relief for an artist when they get a call to compose for any of these.

EVEN IF I SWALLOWED A THOUSAND NEEDLES, I’D STILL THINK THIS SONG IS COOL. The lyrics on this song go insanely hard, that gif with the pen writing while on fire is the one thing that can describe the tremendous righteousness of the words depicted in this one, I just love it.
