okay, i have to address something that i've seen float around a bunch on tumblr, reddit, and tiktok lately when it comes to readers who are angry at fanfiction authors for not writing the content they wish to see in their fandom spaces.

...did you ever think to try and write it yourself?

this weekend i saw someone comment on the bg3 sub about how they're sick of seeing astarion fics with 'special/edgy female-centric tieflings or durges' and not much else. they were angry that 'they scroll for hours on ao3 and tumblr but only find all this oc and reader insert garbage, when it's plaguing their fandom space'.

so write the damn story you keep searching for. write what you find the fandom lacks. you take it upon yourself to curate the content you want out there.

if a writer wants to make 50 stories of the same 'special/edgy' original character smutting up a canon, they can? it's their labor of love. their passion project. a hobby. they choose to share it online for free. we are so very lucky to live in a digital age where fanfiction is so readily available, and there are millions if not billions of stories (for free!!) at your fingertips to scroll and enjoy.

i'm getting very tired of finding posts/videos of entitled readers who vocally complain about not being catered to when they themselves are not trying to contribute with the content, pairings, or topics they wish to see.

Steve opens his eyes slowly, the harsh light streaming through the blinds he forgot to close, hits him directly in the eye. He winces. He stretches. He notices that there’s a warmth tucked against his back. He freezes.

It wasn’t a dream, that he’d confessed to Eddie and Eddie has received it in kind.

It wasn’t a dream, that they tumbled together into Steve’s bed after midnight giggling and shoving until they got comfortable.

It wasn’t a dream.

Eddie shifts in his sleep, attempting to hide from the light as he buries his nose into Steve’s back. His hair is splayed out around him, his eyes squeezed shut and his hand balled into a fist in Steve’s shirt.

For the first time, in a very long time. Steve feels a warmth spread across his chest from his heart. A mixture of contentedness and relief. Relief because he was needed by someone, relief because he didn’t lose one of his best friends, relief because he was here.

He shut his eyes again, rolling over to face Eddie and pressing a kiss to his forehead, feeling the lines smooth out over Eddie’s face as he did so. He buried his face in his hair and let out the breath he didn’t realize he was holding, as he slowly drifted back to sleep.

Steve would go through the Upside Down hundreds of times, if it meant he could have this moment again and again and again. In the quiet, golden light of the early morning, Steve finally felt like he belonged.

bweird’s OCtober Prompts Day 5 - Relationships

I decided to write a small fic about my two favourite OCs, MAY and Sara, and explore their relationship with each other.

Summary: Sara, a woman with the ability to transform into a wolf, and MAY, a Lunarian rabbit, have an exceptionally ordinary evening in each other’s company

“When you transform, do you think your claws will be painted too?” May asked

May and Sara sat opposite each other at a fold out table in May’s bedroom. May was painting Sara’s nails a striking, bright pink colour - quite successfully, even if Sara wasn’t the best as holding still

“That’s a silly question,” Sara replied

She looked at her sparkly pink nails

“Do you know the answer?” May asked, putting the nail polish away

She assumed the following silence from Sara meant “no,” - in reality, Sara was now contemplating the nature of her wolf form entirely. This thought process carried on as May guided Sara through the curing process.

Once May was done and started packing her things away, Sara couldn’t help but admire her new nails. The iridescent bubblegum pink clashed with just about every item of clothing Sara owned - but that didn’t matter. To Sara, this was like carrying a little reminder of May around wherever she went. Sara’s gaze drifted from her nails to May, who had seemingly abandoned cleaning up her nail art equipment to rearrange the plushies on her bed. Sara decided to help out by putting her nail art equipment in the box on her makeup table labeled “nail art stuff :3” in pink glitter gel pen.

Sara returned to their shared living and kitchen space, the evening sun bathing their apartment in golden hues. Sara sat on their couch, running her fingers over the brown leather, she found a scratch mark on the seat next to her and lingered on it for awhile. She must’ve scratched up the couch in her wolf form at some point. This train of thought brought Sara back to the question May had asked earlier

“When you transform, do you think your claws will be painted too?”

Sara found herself genuinely wanting to know the answer, she tapped her finger against the couch impatiently. She couldn’t just transform in the apartment because the landlord had a strict “no pets” policy and Sara had the feeling that “no, that’s not a pet dog, that’s my girlfriend, who transforms into a wolf sometimes” would be a hard sell, especially considering the fact that May struggled to rent the apartment in the first place as a Lunarian

“May?” Sara called from the living room, tilting her head in the general direction of May’s bedroom. Sara listened to May as she hurriedly ran from her bedroom to the living room

“Yeah?” May asked, holding a comically large shark plushie under her arm

“Let’s go for an evening run whilst there’s still some light out,” Sara replied “I feel like I need a little stretch, if you catch my drift,”

May gasped and pointed at Sara

“You want to know if your claws will be pink too!!” she exclaimed excitedly

Sara’s cheeks flushed

“…Yes, I do,” she said quietly

that moment when you realize that everything you worked for, everything you did in your entire life has led up to nothing but pain. it was all for nothing. your life, your death, your rebirth. might as well just give up.

first time posting one of my Jason edits, did this in like one hour where i spent most of the time figuring out how to put something in slow motion lol. so yeah it’s just a quick low-effort thing i did because i’m sick rn and have nothing better to do and inspiration struck me and i’m not one to ignore it. might eventually post my other ones, idk yet

also i will forever keep comparing Jason’s death scene with the entire confrontation scene at the end of the movie, i did good parallels in my Friendly Fire edit and i might post it just for those cuz holy shit the fact that it’s so similar is heartbreaking
