said this on tiwtter too but im seriously at my limit, people go and be all like "oh my god young people have no idea of basic internet security omggggg" and the same person will immediately make an account on t/hreads that is stealing so much data from you its basically one step away from straight up kidnapping
i get we are all desperate, i really do, but i WILL judge you if you go and sign up for the literally shittiest app on earth thats really just a flimsy disguise of a bunch of data suckers in a trench coat
use tumblr, cohost, pillowfort, (the latter two also allow nsfw) ANYTHING but that suckerberg leech i am BEGGING you
idk how accurate it is but i saw the numbers of 75 MILLION sign ups for the threads bs, what the hell are you doing, i feel like im in one of those old anti technology comics were young people just walk off a cliff en masse bc they only look at their phone and nothing else while im the old guy in a chair watching them do it

let me put my apathy towards c!aimsey “losing a canon life” this way: you’re watching a new show thats been going strong for 2 years, has a central plot that everyone has been a part of at one point. a new character is introduced and dies instantly. now. now why would you care

Tumblr media
i feel like i see posts like this so much and it's kind of weird bc this applies only to like. a very specific subset of people (ppl who are into phineas and ferb + aware of the "two nickels" thing being repostet a lot) which is like. a subset of people in a fairly specific age range (the right age to have watched phineas and ferb so like. idk 15 - 30 year olds probably being generous) AND are active on specific social media platforms to have seen this joke repeated a lot so it burrows into their memory bc most people who just casually watched phineas and ferb aren't that likely to remember this specific moment (i know i didn't without the meme). and idk this is not a big deal i just find it interesting how often people online will post about something that is extremely specific to them and the social circles they move in as if it's a really universal experience
#im def thinking about this too deeply but i see this a lot w very online young people#even where they'll be like 'omg everyone in gen Z is like THIS' and its like#no not everyone in your generation is a certain way it's just that#you don't really interact with people outside of your specific circles#be it online or physical#like online you probably algorythmically get promoted things that confirm your world view bc that is the things you're interested in#so you get a sort of feedback loop of people in your same age range#who get promoted similar content based on age and browsing habits#and you're not gonna really break out of that unless you really look for it#and physically you hang out with your friends who have the same interests as you and are likely in similar economical and social situations#and are likely at your school or uni so you're in really similar situations#its even happened to me bc back in the day i never liked using twitter but my friends who were on twitter were really confused when#i didn't get the 'twitter idioms' even though we move in similar circles i just hadn't been introduced to things specifically popular on tw#twitter#so things that seemed universal to them were completely new to me#and the other way around too where i think smth is extremely generally well known but people i talk to have no idea what's up#my sister who's two years older than me probably doesn't even remember phineas and ferb that well just bc she wasn't that into cartoons#idk. all that to say.#your experiences are not universal#the life and times of brows

Two things going on in my mind the last few days:
One! I'd love to do some sort of collab with ppl here ironstrange, Stephen, Tony, or any ship with either of those two tbh stuff along those lines- I've always adored doing collabs, but I don't think I've ever made one with a topic I'm actually passionate about. Soyeah-
But I am incredibly awkward to approach people and don't wanna seem pushy sO- If any of yall ever at some point in life are interested in making a collab, hit me up! My inbox is always open and I'd love to create something together we both like :'D
Two- self ships
How do those work? I've never interacted this way with fandom before, Tumblr has really opened me to new ways to enjoy media and the general non judgemental attitude I've seen around so far really makes me wanna try and have fun with things I haven't tried before.
Plus I've seen other people's self ships and it looks so fun and cool but I'm also like- what if I'm cringe? but also like others don't look cringe but also what if I am though?
Does one just fucking- go with it and say fuck it?

always wild to see people freak out over dark romance novels when you know they're also like... Spuffy shippers? or something along those lines?
I mean, I have no issue with that lmao, I've had ships that are on the same level, but I don't know, it's just like... are you romanticizing the thing you're shipping to the point that you don't recognize its own darkness, or are you fully aware of that and just knowingly hypocritical?
#romance novel blogging#every week twitter declares that society is crumbling because of silly dark romance novels#and usually not even the REAL dark shit lmao#and every week it is the dumbest moral panic i've ever seen#but yeah dude it when you can literally see people with the WILDEST ships handwringing that i get really confused#like okay so the books are undermining women#but the women falling in love with their attempted rapists onscreen... are not..................#and to clarify to me it's just a quality of the work thing; the content itself there doesn't concern me#I MYSELF do not think spuffy as an example was handled well and the context of joss being who he is#retroactively makes it worse than a dark romance written by some random very normal lady keying into common fantasies#like mitzie or heather or whoever doesn't want to go out there and assault someone. probably#whereas joss.....................#wasn't allowed to be alone in a room w a teenage girl#and that isn't every showrunner ofc but a lot of visual representations of trauma#and romanticizations of these relationships onscreen are often written by people of the same gender as the perpetrator#whereas dark romance is often written by women--sometimes even women working out their own shit#and idk i'm kind of making that realization in real time as two why one bugs me more than the other#PERSONALLY speaking#and ofc that doesn't absolve women of handling SA whether it's romanticized or not badly#and CERTAINLY sa is not inherent to dark romance#which i think is a common misconception#dark romance in terms of genre is not 'rape and abuse as romance' it's honestly pretty broad#ANYWAY. thoughts over#just focus on the people who are actually preying on others plsthx

I’ve seen some stuff on multiple social media sites since 5sos5 came out about Luke and Sierra’s relationship and how the songs on the album mean they’re toxic together and I’m just really confused why the fandom seemed to collectively decide that every song 5sos writes is about Luke specifically. Like there’s four people in the band who are all songwriters why does every lyric have to be about Luke?

ngl people keep bitching about tumblr's choices to basically skullfuck their own UI as if the average user has any bearing or influence on the choices made and its starting to irritate me.
it can't be unique as a platform because shareholders and investors are generally high risk to maintain and most corporate teams do whatever the trend is to play conservatively to old men with money who have no idea how the average user interacts with social media. they literally hire everyone to do that research for them.
and you can insist that tumblr is worse; but it isn't and has always been like this. I understand the frustration, and I even agree with it. But can we stop being naive for five minutes and accept that no matter what if a social media platform is funded by corporate wealth hoarders that they will never give a shit what you personally enjoy doing with a website at least?
i use tumblr because it works and for no other reason. if it stops working for me, I follow the rules of capitalism and fuckin leave. This is why the free market sucks! because its blind competitive growth that means ultimately extremely nothing, and CEOs can just claim failed websites as tax deductible expenses if and when they fail.
They will tell staff they care about user retention. The staff believes them. They are being lied to, and so are you. Use the service as long as it is useful to you. That's it.
