Witchverse is so weird and its hard bc i dont want to completely rewrite a bunch of history, but then i have to sit there and come up with a believable good reason that Birdie didnt step in and prevent any of the atrocities that happened since humans first migrated to the americas and its like. Agents of Shield Rewatch 7x09 As I Have Always Been

First of all, we’re not going to discuss how many times I’ve seen this episode because...welll...the number is pretty high. But this is legit my #1 favorite episode of all time. This episode is an example of this show firing on all cylinders and just at it’s absolute best. And it’s really one of the last times we get to see our family all working together, and that’s where I think this show gets its strength. 

Anyway, this may get super long idk I just have a lot of feelings about this ep.

The number of times Chloe must have had to film waking up in this thing is probably pretty high

Ok first things first, my very favorite thing is Sousa using that box of gloves as a pillow because having spent a good portion of my lower to mid-20s in labs I will not pretend like I haven’t considered doing that

Ok, since I used to be a med tech (aka I worked in a hospital lab), I have questions about why they have so many green and blue tubes there. I mean...green tops are heparin tubes so I guess you can use those for basic chemistry tests, so that might be usable for multiple things. But those blue tops? That’s sodium citrate and the only thing I know of we used those for were coagulation tests. Which require some specific equipment. Does Jemma plan to run that many PT/PTTs?? And on what???

But also, he trusts her so implicitly that he’s willing to risk his life for her.

The saddest thing to me about this is that Daisy can’t seem to understand why he’s always willing to help and wants to watch over her. It’s like she still doesn’t think she’s worthy of being treated like this.

“Some of my favorite people are people like you” I CRY

Whew there’s a lot to parse here. 

First of all, I think Daisy actually really likes that Sousa is seemingly not phased by anything (or at least, not super bothered by it) because her life is always going to be chaotic that’s just facts

Second, in this very short time of knowing her, Sousa definitely has her pegged. He knows that she craves other people, but is also probably a bit scared to want to be around other people. He knows she’s hopelessly stubborn, but that’s because she cares so much. And he knows that she needs someone to have her back no matter what, because she won’t have her own.

Of course, there’s also a personal element here as indicated by the next part of their conversation. 

Also of note, when Daisy is pressing with the questions, wanting to know why he’s always there for her, she’s leaning forward while he sits back. 

Now though, when the question is a bit more personal, she sits back in a very protective stance. I think she’s a little scared of what he’ll say to her question. Because she realizes that she likes him. A lot. And what if he’s just like a generally good guy and this has nothing to do with her?

But of course, it has everything to do with her as indicated by what Sousa says next. “Not for everyone. It helps if they’re fun to be around, and if they say what they mean, and if they have that super power where they can rock things around which is very impressive.”

And Daisy’s immediate response?? SHE SMILES. Like...this is what she needs and what she wants but what she’s been too afraid to go after. And here it is just falling in her lap.

Now that everything is out in the open, they are both leaning towards each other...

Also I love that she says, “That’s awfully specific” and he doesn’t shy away from her. He just agrees with her. They both know what that really means.

And they both like it

So the new plan is to misdirect Enoch by having Sousa go in to take the implant out, but really Sousa is leading Enoch into a fight with him, Mack, May, and Elena and like what a squad

But also this was a super plan, and I wonder if Coulson was involved or if this was Daisy/Sousa original

Either option seems likely

Daisy asks for help and Sousa immediately agrees to help and THAT IS WHAT DID IT FOR DAISY JOHNSON FRIENDS

Like...I know she’s feeling under the gun for time because Coulson said same thing but faster

But also, peak romance is someone just wanting to help her no questions asked which, given her history makes complete sense

She needs a constant, someone who will be there for her no matter what

I feel like this started in some ways with Lincoln. He was just so sweet and helpful to her. And granted he had his own demons to deal with, but in the end he was willing to give up everything to save the world and Daisy herself.

But he also showed Daisy that she could expect love and support and she was worthy of that (even if she doubted it later)

So here’s this guy, who’s just smart and kind and good and clearly into her

So, knowing that this could be one of her lasts chance to do this and realizing that at any rate he’ll totally forget about it anyway, she makes a move

And like this kiss?? It’s hot y’all

You can tell Daisy just like lol Imma kiss him, but then they are both caught in this moment and go back for me

But also he definitely led for that second kiss 

“That was nice” like hahahaha amazing undersell Daisy

And then she traces his collarbone like whoa I need to fan myself for a bit

“Now we need to drop a space robot”

I can’t tell what Sousa is more confused by- that statement or the kiss itself

Imagine being Sousa though. You just got woken up by this beautiful woman who asks for you help then kisses you when you say “Sure thing.”

He’s truly living the dream

Oh also we’re 11 km from the vortex now

It turns out Enoch is the answer to all our problems

But also we have to kill him in the process :(

And then poor Simmons has a breakdown over leaving Alya presumably, but also she’s a better mom than me because after 3 years in space with one of my little super geniuses I’d be more than ready for a vacay idk

I love that Enoch has reached the point where he feels like this entire crew is his family and would sacrifice themselves for him

Enoch didn’t feel lonely until he had friends :((

This whole thing is breaking my heart...not just Enoch in the process of dying, but Coulson actually talking about his deaths and Daisy having to try and process all this

“Yet, this is the nature of families. I have seen it countless times on countless worlds. People arrive so we celebrate, and people leave us, so we grieve. We do what we can with the time in between, but the cycle is always there. No one escapes it. Not even me.”

This really got to me. My family has changed a lot through the years. People have come and gone. Babies have been born. People have died. And nothing I do can change this cycle. Sometimes it makes me happy; sometimes it hurts. But nothing I do can change that process, and that’s not always easy for me to accept.

I think Daisy and Coulson are having a moment here too, where Daisy is telling both Coulson and Enoch that even though they are not human, that doesn’t make them any less alive to the people who love them

RIP Enoch, you were the bestest Chronicom to ever robot

And of course we get one last buzzkill with Nathaniel and Kora

Ok first some timeloop math. We saw 21 loops on screen, but loop #5 was loop #90 for Coulson. So if we figure Daisy died say...every 10-15 ish time loops and it took her 2 or 3 to wake Coulson up, we can probably add an additional 25 time loops or so. So we’re probably looking at around 130 loops roughly.

Of course this begs the question, did Daisy decide to kiss Sousa more than once? It’s possible. I kind of like to think she did. 

First of all, mad props to Joel for nailing that death scene. He was absolutely incredible. And clearly this episode rates 1000000000/10 on the Dousy scale because like...everything. The talk, the kiss, the sacrifice...amazing. I was 95% sure I was getting ending Dousy after this. This episode also gets 50000/10 on the Teamwork! scale because our team did so well and were strongest when they worked together. And of course Enoch gets a 10000000000000000/10 on the Good Chronicom scale because he legit was the bestest Chronicom that could ever not-live.

Since we’re in a timeloop and not in a particular time period, I’m going with the Dousy-est of songs, “peace” by Taylor Swift.

Bad Batch thoughts & predictions Ep 12

Continuing these written reactions/predictions somewhere cause itd be fun I think to see what actually ends up happening and remembering what I thought at the time so im dumping it here, youre welcome. (Feel free to discuss if you want) if you want to keep up with it im gonna be tagging these as #jay rambles about bb

- So I sort of expected it by the end of last episode but it seems like last episode was a start of an episode arc about hera's family, which, for rebel's fans I'm sure it's cool and exciting and maybe answers some questions or will actually show things discussed in rebels maybe, but as someone who hasn't seen rebels yet, I really hope this episode and the next few have more bad batch screentime, cause we were a little robbed last episode lol (but in a way I do still enjoy this stuff too, because im sure when I DO watch rebels it'll make the experience better). -- I'm not disliking this arc or anything, but up to this point we've kind of had almost mandalorian style 'one episode one adventure' sorts of episodes, and personally I really hope we get more of that (which I think we will), because while this is all new content and everything, we all have to admit clone wars had some less interesting filler arcs here and there, and I just hope bb doesn't fall the same way (across all of its seasons, im not very concerned about it so far from what we've seen of season 1) because if there is filler, I'd rather sit through a couple of the one episode stories, rather than a 3-4 episode story that takes nearly a month to get through if im disliking it, mostly for the fact that even if we got those 1 ep fillers, its more stories and more likely I'd like at least one. ---kinda rambling about this unnecessarily atm cause while again right now I think bb is fine, I just want the future to be that way too. - fffff every time I see howzer on screen I think of that fucking audio thats "here comes the boy, hello boy~" and honestly can you blame me he is so precious like ugh I swear dave you better be nice to him -- YOU CAN TELL HE FEELS SO BAD AND GUILTY LIKE IT HURTS - hey admiral can you not be MEAN to howzer when he is trying to be fucking helpful -- ;-; BRO im saying it so much already but I feel so bad for howzer like dude someone help him --- imo it feels like its sort of setting up howzer for something more important in the show kinda, at least for his character. EVEN GONKY IS DEFECTIVE LIKE BB THATS SO CUTE! - uh, im not the only one getting the leia transmission vibes from hera, right? -- ok, again I haven't seen rebels so I dont know BUT if hera has the ability to talk to bb, couldn't she have done so in rebels? Yeah she's older and im sure better at fighting and defending herself and all that, but wouldn't it still be possible for her to have gotten in some kind of rough situation in Rebels to ask for bb's help again? I super doubt bb made any appearance of any kind in Rebels, so doesn't that imply that she lost communications with them? What happens to bad batch >> - bad batch not wanting to help but because omega really wants to you can see its making hunter soften up and I appreciate it - bruh what??? Taa is dead af, like theres no way the show is gonna pull some magic and be like 'oh yep here he is' thing??? Like this has to be a lie, but even then, what even is the plan here?? Saying "oh hes recovering" well he can't be recovering forever, how does that seem like a good plan to lie about that?? Like Echo didn't seem to care much at all when Rex mentioned fives even a little! Or even about seeing Rex that much!! Dave I'm gonna need some answers my guy, cause you humanized these characters but then you dont make them act that way so like whats up. - Lucky hunters abilities came in handy - Back to crosshair for a second im predicting they 100% arent saving him this season. I just hope they don't hurt him... - OH GOD HOWZER BABY DONT -- He's making a speech and I know he's trying to sway them but you know damn well this is gonna go so badly for him because of the chips and crosshair is watching so you know howzer is gonna get fucked here and I know what hes trying for but I really wish he didnt just do that because now its blatantly obvious he's gonna be against them ;-; - Wow ok im kinda shocked people are siding with him (I guess cause theyre not all clones right) but I feel so bad for themmmmm - Crosshair missed multiple shots? can't help but feel like its a little underwhelming (but dont get me wrong still cool vibes) because he's kind of already been doing that anyway?? Or has tried to several times?? So I don't get why its a big deal, however, I do have a possible prediction: We know that bb got their chips removed, (crosshair doesn't, I know that) and so that eliminates the idea that they will get caught and actually go bad like crosshair, but it does leave a possibility where maybe they get captured and then *pretend* to be bad? And that could lead to a better possibility of helping crosshair (they wont) or maybe howzer and the other rebels or something? Cause I also feel like its significant that they brought up how the war will eventually come to them and bb will be a part of it no matter what eventually, and it makes obvious sense theyd be on the rebels side of it, so maybe something like that goes on, idk.

- How do they fall asleep? Wake up? Any daily rituals? Most times they end up falling asleep with each other and waking up with Rayquelle in Eron’s hold due to the nightmares she has she seeks the comfort and warmth! DAILY RITUALS UH YEAH they try to go out at least once a day and have a ‘date’ and stargaze. It’s a way for them to relax, be in each others presence but not have to worry about others.

- How’s their team work? Do they share well? Ray is a very independent woman but since joining the resistance she has had to partake inmore team activities. Eron understands her Hesitance and works with it or around it so they can get their task done without making her uncomfortable. 

- Are they open about their relationship? How do they feel about public displays of affection? Ok so this is a big thing. In the beginning stages of their relationship no one knows hell not even they really do. Eron needs alot of trust because of the walls around him and the second layer around his heart and Ray respects that. He tore hers down before she go into his so thats something she has to accept. They don’t really come out about their relationship I think ever it just kind of becomes natural and people start to see the looks in their eyes when they look at each other. Public display of affection follows the same rules and I actually think Eron is the first to break that (I answered an ask like this) Where he would have to make the conscious decision to partake in PDA.

- First impression of each other? Was it love at first sight? NO IT WAS NOT! So when they first met they payed no mind to each other however, they don’t really count it because it wasn’t anything big it was her introduction to the resistance when she was found. The real start for them was when he found her stargazing in a spot he thought no one knew about. Eron was probably unfazed at her but Ray was curious. He looked scary, not gonna lie maybe mean? But biggest of all. he looked almost... like he’d seen so much and it hurt him and she wanted to alleviate that because she too had that for herself.

- Nicknames? Pet names? Any in-jokes? Ray for Eron: Love,Babe, Baby, Eldin, Honey, Dear, and her favorite My Stars Eron for Ray: Love, Babe, Baby,  (I’m sure more but YOU WONT GIVE ME MORE ALKDJ:LK)

- Any tasks that are always left to one person? Cooking is Ray’s thing she will fight for that!

- What annoys them the most about their partner? Would they change it if they could? N O T H I N G! Both Ray and Eron treasure the other faults and all the only changes they want are to themselves. ( Ray also hates sometimes how he’s so tall she has to ask him to bend down for kisses sometimes)

- What do the like best about their partner? WOW uhm Ray loves everything but his heart is the best. He has been through so much seen so much yet still trusts her like he does and loves her like he does and that warms her to the core of her being. Thats a hard question because i feel like in the canon verse they never feel really a NEED too. They dont need a ring to tell them that they love each other. But in any AU with them as a ship or in a verse where they do get married. They don’’t want anything big only those important to them  their marriage is for them not their friends and family. Its about them giving themselves to each other. The proposal would be cute and heartfelt and could be as simple as Eron kissing her neck and just “I want to marry you...” or her after a night of him grounding her form a nightmare she just “I want you and me forever... let’s get married Eron”  The honeymoon? They dont need fancy yet again just each other. Take it as an excuse to give it all into each other with no interruptions

- What do they do for fun? Do they have a favorite activity or do they like to switch things up? THey both stargaze, Love shooting blaster, she loves just domestic cuddling , and they always when able eat together

- Anything they both dread? Becoming those they hate and losing those they love honestly those are the biggest. Ray’s TRUEST fear is Embrent will return and kill eron and force her back under his thumb

- How adventurous are they? Eron more so than Rayquelle haha I could see him guiding her around her hand in his as they explore things though

- Do they keep secrets? Lie? Cheat? Rayquelles poker face is absolute shit. 

- What would make them break up? Would it be permanent? UHM HONESTLY THE FEARS BECOMING TOO MUCH AND EVEN THEN THEY’RE BOTH LOYAL AF SO IDK IFIT WOULD RESULT IN A BREAK UP

- What are their dates like? How long do/did they date? Do they ever feel the need to take a break from each other? The dates they have are usually very mellow and no stress consisting of mainly stargazing or holovids and cuddling.

- What do they fight about? What are their arguments like? How do they make up? Arguments are almost none existent minor little battles of wit do happen but for the most part full arguments don’t! BUT on the occasion they do they get alittle emotional. Make up consists of lots of just quality time. maybe some sex who knows.

- What does their home look like? Their room? Their home thanks to Ray is clean and tidy with a set spot for everything! The same applies for their room.Their things are in no set sides of room for the most part its where ever it works

- Do they share any interests or hobbies? GUNS, KNIVES, STARGAZING, BEING PARENTS TO JAEDEN AND EVELLYN HAHA

- Does their work ever interfere with the relationship? Not in a serious method. It does spark some fear in both parties and there are nights where they get genuinely upset the other isn't there and have a horrible time sleeping. Unable to get a lick.

- How do they hug? Kiss? Tease? Flirt? Comfort? listen they just soft bbs

- Any doubts about the relationship? Both have doubts because of their history but never about each other. The doubts stem of “They will leave me like everyone else” in Eron’s head and Ray is scared she will lose him like she lost her parents. The minute comfort finds her Embrent returns and kills Eron in front of her. But in Eron himself? She knows he loves her undoubtedly and that he will always. Now she can only hope he knows she feels the same. 

- How much time do they spend together? Do they share their feelings, or hold things in?

- How do their friends feel about their relationship? Their families? Leia and Luke I imagine love that they’re so good for each other. Family on Ray’s front wel uhm.... like i said leia approves haha. Everyone in the base loves it because it softened Eron and brought Ray out more and shes more sociable.

- Do they have kids? Grow old together? Split up? Well N love we both are kill happy for them in TROS SOOOOOO but i do want to write them being parents be it au or whatever UPDATE THEY HAVE A SON AND A DAUGHTER JAEDEN AND EVELLYN

- What are their vacations like? Together literally thats the thing. A vacation for them could be their bedroom. As long as they’re together

- How do the handle disasters or emergencies? Minor injuries? Sickness? RAY INSTANT PANIC ON EMERGENCIES! They are both nurses when the other is sick haha

- Could they manage a long distance relationship? IT WOULD WRECK THEM they probs could but like alot of them is physical interaction and with her nightmares it would wreck eron watching that with nothing he could do to help. Ray loves to hug and cuddle him to tell him she LOVES him and not doing that and watching him have a rough patch? nope wrecked

- Do they finish each other’s sentences? Pick up any phrases or habits from each other? Know when the other is hiding something? They know when the other is hiding something eron especially but ray has gotten good at noticing for him. Another thing is with finishing sentences. Eron could probably but he doesnt engage in it much but shell do it whenever she can!

- Do they ever get into trouble? Is it serious, or are they just mischievous? They dont get into trouble really

- What kind of presents do they get each other? Do they only do it on special occasions? Ray gives presents when she feel like it tbh. They range from hobby based to food and anything in between. If she thinks of eron when she sees it its gift material.

- Do they have any pets? Eron best get his woman her own BB unit

- Do they bring out the best in each other, or the worst? Do they have a fatal flaw? he brings out in ray allowing her to open up and she the best in him because they are actually

- What’s their greatest strength as a couple? Their weakness? The weakness is how much they self doubt themselves. they rely so heavily on each other that it may be SEVERELY detrimental if one dies

- How much would they be willing to sacrifice for the other? Any lines they refuse to cross? they would kill and die for another

- What are they like in the bedroom? Any kinks/fetishes/turn-ons? Anything they won’t do? They both have a think for oral so there’s a fair bit of it haha. Other than that none that i can think of in terms of places. OH! Their stargazing spot!!! Special memories though their first time kissing, with each other intimately, ALSO A memory eron will never forget is walking in on his lady cooing to their daughter promissing her so much in life.

- Are they party-goers? What are they like when they’re drunk? Does it happen often? They aren’t big party goers but they still enjoy a good drink with friends. Ray is HYPERSEXUAL when drunk and kind of a hyperactive person

2017 Fic Roundup Meme

Total Words (of Anything Excluding Blogs) Written: Man I don’t even know how I’d count this -- I’ve written at least ten briefs for work and those are usually between 2 - 5 pages, and I write a lot of WIPs that I don’t end up posting. So I mean it’s probably in the 100,000 range but the majority of that (obviously) is either not fandom related or not likely to see the light of day as publicly consumable or both.

My favorite fic story this year: greenwood -- written as part of an AU meme and so so random -- Maurice-AUs are hardly a fandom trope y’know -- but man that’s one I wish I could commit to writing more of. I love Maurice (both the film and the book) so much and I love John/Chas so much as a pairing that I just kind of forced it to work, and I think it mostly did. But it’s just too far from the Constantine premise to be worth expanding, beyond just for the gimmick. Like as a historical AU I feel like I’d have to incorporate some magic nonsense to it and it wouldn’t be impossible but ugh, plots. Better to leave them in that nice, tender moment with all the possibilities before them. My one regret for it was that I got a little fade-to-black about the sex (not true in the initial conception and I did a little draft of some more explicit from Chas’ POV) but in the end I felt like I’d written too much porn lately (and was trying to be in keeping with the aesthetic of the original story), so.

My best story this year: Adrift -- I’ve re-read it to myself a bunch of times, and I just genuinely enjoyed working through it and figuring out the relationship dynamics and possibilities and putting in references to so many well established headcanons of mine. And John’s SUCH an unreliable narrator/POV character that I always have a great time trying to write him as clearly feeling SOMETHING while he’s pretending he doesn’t. And idk it’s just one of my top pairings ever and I was glad to finally devote myself to writing a nice, slow developing relationship fic with just the two of them working their shit out. 

Story most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:  Honestly at this point, given that I’m writing almost entirely John/Chas fics, and otherwise for very niche pairings, I think any appreciation my fics get is a miracle. Though I do kind of wish I’d written Adrift in the Constantine fandom’s hey-day, because it’s a chaptered developing relationship fic and those are hard to come by and I feel weird saying it’s great but it’s solid and got really good reactions from people who did read it, and I’m proud of that. 

Also I’m not as proud of blended cotton with gannex twill, in terms of its actual quality (I’m not sure the POV shifts quite work as well as I wanted them to) but it took me SO LONG to finish it and it was such a goofy premise that I’m really glad I did, and again I’m a little sad some of the early-day Constantine people didn’t get a chance to read it when I first started goofing around about the possibility of a sentient trenchcoat.

I’m also kind of surprised a reasonable amount of trouble was the least popular of the historic AUs I wrote -- I joked that I didn’t really know what noir was but I think it was close enough and I tried to set a (vaguely angsty) mood of both yearning but inevitable dissatisfaction to it. Maybe I didn’t go gritty enough with it? That tends to be my flaw for any Hellblazer related stuff, admittedly -- I can’t quite commit to the bleakness I know it merits.

Sexiest Story:  Adrift has a lot of sex in it (IT’S NECESSARY TO THE PLOT, she said, not at all defensively), which was described with a fair amount of detail, and then I backed up to more subtle depictions b/c I thought all that sex stuff would get boring. There’s also a lot of John telling himself he’s pretty meh on the sex itself. So I feel like the sexiness of it was kind of neutered by it being so much about the plot (like, the shifts of what they actually get up to were to represent emotional shifts in how they were feeling about each other). Which at least made it less sexy for me to write, anyway.

I got good feedback about The (Shamelessly Indulgent) Sex Chapter in blended cotton with gannex twill [which was somewhat necessary b/c I wanted to get all manner of bodily fluids on the coat b/c in my vague headcanon/justification that’s what actively pushes it into true sentience but--], but honestly I think my truly sexiest fic of the year is mages against literacy -- to the point I was actively embarrassed writing it, and didn’t read it again for months after I posted it, and then went back and was like “w o w”.

Most fun story:  blended cotton with gannex twill. TRENCHIE NO! TRENCHIE YES.

Also a boy with a thorn in his side is....fun for me and a few very specific people, probably. I wrote another high school AU Star Wars fic in 2016 that was way more fun and goofy and idealistic -- it’s called the id fic for a reason -- but if the id fic was what I wish high school had been like for me, ABWATIHS is -- what high school was, tbh. I mean not precisely, but Cassian’s EMOTIONS and his inability to deal with them was #relatable. I wrote it so fast, mostly because I was so intrigued by the possibilities of it and the headcanons I came up with for it, which I’m still really fond of. Like if I were to ever write original fic, I’d file off the serial numbers and make a go of it there.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: In Good Faith wasn’t, in my opinion, a great fic -- I wrote it too quickly and without enough of a reason beyond ‘someone asked for it’, and some parts were very derivative -- but I did work through some things with it, about Kes and Shara’s potential relationship history, and about what Shara’s flaws might be and what her life was like and why she and Kes work so well together. Not a lot of which actually came out in the fic IMO, but at least I had that going on in my head. 

Hardest story to write: partly mors et fugacem persequitur virum, because I didn’t remember nearly as much about Roman history as I thought I did (and what was I going to do, research??? [I did do some but none of it is actually like -- visible in the fic], and I was overconfident about my ability to make it work and still be in IC. I’m.....still not sure if I didn’t fail on one or both of those accounts.

Also I wrote Anything Can Happen (On Halloween) for no fucking reason other than because I wanted to post the 100th fic in the John/Chas tag (I EARNED THISSS) and I think it shows. Again I wrote it too quickly (in about a week?? ridiculous), I was too nervous about someone else posting something else as the 100th fic instead of me and that my hardwork would’ve GONE TO WASTE wah wah wah anyway the ending was boring and I still feel guilty about it not being very good.  Biggest surprise: Anything Can Happen (On Halloween) was actually surprisingly (to me) well received -- like it got very quick positive reactions and idk why since I’m still genuinely embarrassed by it -- I mean I don’t think it’s a bad fic but it’s rushed and clunky and not terribly original.  A story I want remembered:  Someone on twitter said that Adrift made them ship John/Chas and honestly that’s all I want for it -- that and for the people who keep coming to the lil’ Constantine fandom that there is and go looking for fic find it and read it and at least kind of understand why some rando keeps flooding the tag with John/Chas nonsense. 

Resolutions for 2018: This has been a very John/Chas year for me and while I’m mostly okay with that, I do want to at least try to make my way back to finnpoe again -- I’m working on a bigbang fic so I desperately want to finish that (it’s outlined and everything and I think it may end up being one of my most personal fics) but we’ll see -- Star Wars fandom continues to push me away, and I won’t be able to post it until May, which is rough for someone like me, who depends so much on positive attention. There’s also a bunch of DamFam things I want to explore, especially now. 

I also want to keep writing the John/Chas but I want to stop feeling so embarrassed about it -- like so what that it was so long ago, people are still into it! Every few weeks or so I get someone on tumblr clearly going through my John/Chas tag, anyway. So at least I will have/still have some readers for that nonsense. 

I want to be better about prompts people give me -- I try to set expectations at the floor level for these things but I do genuinely like writing things for people, at least partly b/c I’m terrible at coming up with ideas on my own, so I want to try harder to fill memes and such. 

And idk maybe I’d like to find another ship that I like, that’s not from a dead show, where the fandom isn’t the worst. DARE TO DREAM (the impossible dream).

WIP Puppyshipping-ish* drabble - started writing this around Jou’s birthday, forgot about it, and just now got back to it. The TL;DR of my initial idea is “Jou’s father is prick & Kaiba is coaxed into giving Jou a ride to see his sister. Possible bonding?”

I’ve only got about two pages worth, but I figured what I had was worth posting since idk when I’ll finish.

Son of a bitch. Son of a bitch. Jounouchi fretted, trying not to lose his cool and failing spectacularly. Did he have to pull this shit now? January had thankfully been fairly mild, so the blond's light jacket was enough to keep out the cold as he paced the streets of Domino—going everywhere and nowhere in particular. Suppose he'd always be welcome to hang out with Honda or Yugi—hell, Anzu, too, but that wasn't the thing he was so worried about. Sighing into the chilly winter air, Jounouchi checked his phone for the fifth time that afternoon and was just as disappointed with the result as he had been the first four times. No service. Damn it.

Damn it.

Damn i—his phone clattered to the sidewalk and he startled backwards, his basic, stressed instincts telling him to raise his fists in defense. Yet, even as Jounouchi picked up his wits, recognising the figure he'd literally walked right into, it still took several moments longer to finally step out of his aggressive stance. The other man, in turn, first bent down to pick up the dropped cell without a word, inspecting it—judging it, really. Who still used a flip phone these days? Although, the brunet supposed, he shouldn't be surprised, given its owner. Still, with some semblance of passive aggressive manners, Seto Kaiba held out the antiquated device for Jounouchi to reclaim.

“You should watch where you're going; the next person you run into might not be so friendly,” the cold voice chastised, withdrawing his hand just as soon as Jounouchi snatched his belonging from it.

Friendly? Ha, as if..

“Yeah, yeah, and maybe you should watch where you're standing, sheesh. I get it...” Waving a hand, his response was noncommittal. Exhausted, even. Normally, the blond was more than happy to trade a few rounds of banter with the icy CEO, but guess Kaiba would just have to settle with that. What he was doing out in the open, Jounouchi couldn't fathom, but that wasn't important either. Rather, he couldn't help but check his phone one last time, even if the result wasn't going to change. No service—not anything that'd work, anyway. His phone was as good as useless if the bill couldn't be footed. Pocketing it, he leered up at Kaiba, who looked just as sterling as ever.

Kaiba nearly opened his mouth to speak, but promptly decided against it. It wasn't his business and he really didn't care much, despite the curious something in Jounouchi's tone that intrigued him. Knowing how volatile he was, Jou would say what was on his mind if he meant to, and if he didn't..? Then it was no loss to Kaiba, either, turning to face the street dutifully and wait.

“Look.. sorry, alright?” Jounouchi began, rubbing his face. No response. Was Kaiba even listening? Surely he had to have some snide remark, because didn't he always? When none came, Jou continued, begrudging yet a little hopeful. “...I hate to ask, but do you have a phone I can use?”

And, he really, really hated to ask, because the last thing he needed was more debts to pay. Jou dealt with that enough back home. However, this was too important to squabble about their petty rivalry, so he'd just have to be the bigger man and suck it up. There was no way he could face his friends right now, 'n while Kaiba wasn't any better, he was available. He probably had a phone, too.

“And what was it that I just handed you? A paperweight?”

Oh, there it was. Yet, fighting the urge to snap as his temper flared again, Jou took in a deep breath. “Two minutes—can't you be decent for two minutes? I just need to call my sister, 'n mine ain't working.”  

Exhaling, the blond tried to remind himself that Kaiba wasn't worth the trouble. Getting into a fight would only make things worse. Hell, maybe slap him for thinking that Kaiba might have changed at all since they'd met. Sure, the guy had it rough after Atem left, but that was no excuse to be an ass—not that he'd ever needed one before.

Turning back to Jounouchi, Kaiba seemed mostly unfazed, although—after a few second's contemplation—he drew the requested instrument from a hidden coat pocket. Unlocking the screen first, he offered it out to the blond, which seemed to placate him [if only a little]. An exasperated thank you gracelessly fell from Jounouchi's lips as he dialed.

“You have five,” Kaiba answered belatedly, internalising his annoyance for the betterment of the situation. His ride would be there any moment, and wasting time bickering wasn't really on his agenda, either, regardless of whether Jounouchi believed it or not. As such, the brunet was quiet as the phone rang once, twice... it wasn't until a third ring that a feminine voice answered. However, unlike any other time Jou had called his sister, the blonde's face fell at the sound of her—losing the aggression that had threatened to overtake him earlier. Kaiba listened, although he made no notion of it. It still wasn't his business, but it was his phone.

“Hey, Shizuka..” Jou started, trying to put on a smile, even if no one but Kaiba could see it. “I'm alright, but listen—I don't got a lotta time to talk.”

He started to pace.

“Yeah, this ain't mine,” he laughed weakly. Kaiba withheld the notion to scoff. “But I needed to talk to you, because... you know how dad is—no, I'm fine, promise. I booked it outta there before he could find a bottle big enough to get me with.”

A pause, and while Jounouchi fumbled with his sense of humour, a light frown creased Seto's features. Perhaps he'd been aware of Jounouchi's history, but there was a real difference between passive knowledge and conscious knowledge. The reminder of abuse brought with it some unpleasant imagery of his own, which he violently suppressed just as soon as it dared interrupt his thoughts. That was in the past. Gozaburo was dead, therefore he did not matter. Yet, Jounouchi's father was not, and for a moment, he almost sympathised.

“No, you're right, bad joke. Anyway, Shizuka, what I'm meaning to say is that I won't be able to make it tomorrow—” What was tomorrow? “—think the old man finally figured out I was turning eighteen and used up all the money I'd been saving just to spite me.”

That did nothing to answer Kaiba's silent question. Irritation began to set in, fierce gaze locking on the reflective black of a company sedan as it drove into view. That was his business [quite literally]. This was not. However, even as the vehicle pulled up next to the curb, Seto did nothing other than look on and listen as Jou's conversation dipped past the five minute mark. In that time, Isono stepped out of the car, unaware of the situation and fully prepared to open the door for his boss as he usually would, but Kaiba waved him off. One moment, the gesture read, and all Isono could do was nod, confused but obedient.

“Hey, hey, birthday's happen every year, right? Next year I'll be outta that house, and I promise I'll—”

Yanking the phone out of Jounouchi's hand with absolutely zero consideration to how close Jou came to socking him for it—or the daggers being glared in its place—Seto brought the cell up to his ear. “He'll be there.”

...come again? Jou wasn't sure he heard that right. What'd Kaiba mean that he'd be there? Didn't he just explain that he was flat broke? Not that he wasn't gonna be grateful if Kaiba meant what he thought he meant, but it was a little hard to believe.

I figure I should go ahead and let you know what's going through my head right now, just so we are on the same page. First off, all of this is real. All of this stuff has apparently occurred or is currently occurring, and I've been able to pick up more bits and pieces the longer I've stayed in town (hence the long turn around). Where am I? I don't particularly want to tell you. For that reason I've redacted some information which might clue you into my whereabouts. I'm sure with a certain amount of cyber- sleuthing you'd be able to pinpoint my location, as some of the major points I just cannot change. However by that point I figure it will be too much work for you anyways. DO NOT COME AFTER ME! This story is too good for me to pass up on. I'm only messaging you as a courtesy, and to let you know that I haven't forgotten the money I owe you. I will hopefully be able to pay you back with this novel's completion.

Now onto content. I found this story, of all places, in the newspaper. Yeah it was this grotesque murder which had all of the city community in a hubbub. It was strange too, like ritualistic and such. I've included the short blurb I found in the newspaper, it should be the 3rd attachment. Of course I saved it. I wasn't sure where to go next with my writing and everyone loves true crime or at least a good murder mystery. Then, in the next week, I saw a couple other odd articles (I have attached them as well). One is a letter of resignation from one of the news paper's journalists, due to some kind of journalist ethical concern. Apparently he hasn’t been heard of since. Like completely disappeared. For some reason I was sure that the initial murder, and the later disappearance were related, though I couldn't figure how.

This forced me to dig a little further and I think what I found is captivating at least. Even if I'm grasping at straws I think it tells a compelling narrative, and might sell. I found a small interview, written by the Journalist that disappeared, in regards to a cultural movement within the city. As it turns out this place has a long history of creepy shit, like underground slave prisons, civil war ghosts, a history of catastrophic fires, train accidents, macabre poets, dilapidated asylums turned apartment complexes, and even a vampire legend. No kidding! The guy is entombed down at this old cemetery that overlooks the river. Well the interview is with a member of this group of artists, all of whom were trying to keep this inherent creepiness a part of the city's culture. Though she went by a code name, as all members of Pumpkin Patch do to remain anonymous (in this case kittykat666(=^.^=). I believed that she was the victim in the murder. Having contacted the victim’s parents, I asked if they knew anything about the group Pumpkin Patch. Only the mother would respond, with an invitation to meet with her. Though the meeting was brief, she gave me a series of her daughter's journal entries, a forwarded set of emails between her and her daughter on the topic, and permission to use these things in publishing my next book, so long as I didn't use her daughter's name.

 The first attachment is the newspaper interview with kittykat666(=^.^=) It describes really well what the group is about, and how it operates, and it shows you where I'm leaning for main characters (the girl and the journalist). I think it introduces everything well. The second is the girl's journal entries (at least the ones I've deemed relevant). All of these pertain to Pumpkin Patch and they really get you to see who this poor girl was and how she got sucked into this whole mess. The next attachment is the first article blurb I found, the one that describes the murder. The fourth attachment is the letter of resignation from the journalist who interviewed “Kat”. I figure I will just forward those emails that the mother sent to me. There aren't many of them, however there is some character building stuff there. You can see the loving family “Kat” and her mother had before. They also show how the two found Pumpkin Patch. Sorry in advance, the mother has no clue of grammar. I have also included one last attachment, which is unnerving and chilling when you understand how the group finds its inspiration. It's a series of screen shots I took from the group’s auction site. Here, they post a bunch of their work for buyers. They had just posted a new auction when I checked out the site page. Pay attention to the groups shared theme in the artwork.

Remember that group you were talking about? Pumpkin Patch. I submitted one of my works and it got accepted. Please don't freak out but I ended up going to that meeting. It was cool though. We kind of just sat around, discussing what the next theme will be, what scary movies we like that kind of thing. We also planned a little get together at a museum. There are a couple other girls there so I think it's fine. I kind of know one of the people in the group too, although I'm not supposed to. He was actually one of the guys I hung out with last week. He's not in my art class but he is a year above us so everyone knows him. He sort of let it slip that he was in the Pumpkin Patch when we were all hanging out. He assured me that it wasn't going to be weird and that the mask thing was more like a gimmick than anything else, to make the group interesting. That night with my class was fun too, we just sat around a fire pit talking, eating hot dogs, sharing stories. Somebody had a guitar and they all started singing these old songs. They are a good group. I'm going to spend time with them again.

Most of these people are familiar faces to me but not many are that close with me, so I’ll do a quick tribe assessment. Anna - This is my first time meeting her. We’re only talking about Netflix shows right now to hit it off. I didnt follow her season too closely but I think she’s the girl who went to every tribal and lost at FTC, and some people were mad at her?? She said in her intro she’s ready to be the villain again so hmmm, first off there can only be one villain, me. Second off, makes me know to be a little bit weary of you. Andrew - I am SO happy he’s cast. Definitely the closest person to me on this tribe, and hopefully he feels the same way lolol. I want to work very closely with Andrew and hopefully we make it deep. Kevin - We player enchanted together and were on good terms but he went out on a tribe swap. Don’t have much of an opinion game wise. Nathan - Just player furby with him, just gave him third in that, oops. We had a rocky time together in that game and he gave me red flags all the time there because I felt like he was doing a lot of stuff behind my back (which he was) but I just want us to be on good terms here to start. Nicole - Nicole is a really nice person, we aren’t super close though and haven’t been that close in games before. I also know she’s a good player, so I am gonna keep an eye on here. Rhône - Oh Rhône, player my first ORG ever with him. We were the first tribe to go to tribal, he was targeting me, i got people to flip onto my side and we voted him out and then he called me a dick and deleted me. 6 months later... we’ve added each other back LOL. But he extended an olive branch and I never held a grudge against him anyways so ofc I’ll move past it so he doesn’t have a target on me. But we’ll see how things go down later on!

Okay so, um the Athena Goddesses must love me. I went to go to do my first idol search with a random guess. And with a literal 1% of finding the idol... I FOUND LUKE��S IDOL. Literally EVERYONE in my host chat including myself was S H O O K. I’ve never found an idol in an ORG before, so to get this lucky day one. Yeah... these auras are looking nice. My spirit guides are clearly looking out for me and I am going to manifest an Unfinished Business win <3

Well after a full day has gone by it seems I'm in a majority alliance, which in theory is good for me. Though I've also been working on Dani and she says she was approached for a majority alliance, that COULD be the alliance I'm already in and put in the effort of having formed, but it could also be another alliance in the works that I'm not part of, so I'm gonna have to keep my eyes peeled. (It's possibly that the alliance I'm currently part of is not even like a real alliance, in that I could be the only one who's considering it seriously.) Meanwhile Bodhi as much as I like the guy, I feel like he was being a bit too stubborn about the song selection, that could have rubbed people the wrong way, and I think he'd be safe person to recommend for elimination, but with this other alliance potentially floating around, I dunno could be dangerous.

ok I have NO fucking idea if we're doing the intro to this song or not. We picked the best song on the list (not for the comp, but just best in general), but of course we're doing a BULLSHIT COVER OF IT. It's from a movie I think? I've never actually heard of the movie but Colin and Amanda seem to actually care about it so maybe it's a thing? Those two have completely taken over creative control for this challenge, aside from tasking Dani with editing the whole thing. But no one has ANY idea what Dani is going to do. So I think we might be including DIALOGUE from a MOVIE but COMPLETELY THE FUCK OUT OF CONTEXT SO IT MAKES NO SENSE. This is the worst music video I've ever been a part of, and that includes when someone changed the song last minute, but used the same footage as before. I fucking hate lip sync videos. No one should ever have to do this. I can't help but thinking: what if some day I want to get a job?? Like, an employer is definitely going to stumble upon me lip syncing the WRONG VERSION of "I put a spell on you" and decide not to hire me for that reason alone.

UGHHH SERIOUSLY? Literally every time I play a Survivor ORG I go to tribal first. I AM SICK OF IT. But I haven't been the first boot yet... So let's hope it continues? It's really annoying being on a small tribe because no one is really "inactive" so there doesn't seem to be much of an easy way out. I guess Kevin could be an easy name to say because he didn't participate, but I still talk to him and he probably has connections on the tribe. I don't want to get into hot waters by saying any names RN... So my goal is to talk to everyone, see if names comes to me, and keep close with Andrew because I'd hope he would tell me if I'm in danger. Not exactly how I expected my first week back in the Athena series to go... but I can’t say I’m surprised either. Going into tribal, I feel like I’ve made the most connections I possibly could have and I’ve got Anna and Jake for sure on my side. It’s deciding WHO I want out that’s the problem. I could get out Rhône who is a clear threat to my game later on, or Kevin who didn’t participate at all. It’s all about balancing out when to make personal game moves and game moves to help the tribe... and I’ve only got one shot at redemption. So it may be time to go for the jugular and ensure my safety later on by campaigning against Rhône.

The Quality of Talio’s fucking video gave me explosive diarrhea. Who edited(?) using a potato? It’s wild Maury. If our tribe ever loses Emily WILL be bullied out of this community. Anyways I’m in an alliance with Julia, Blake, and Ryan called “Bullies R Us” in honor of the late Toys R Us company and we’re all bullies so the name stuck.

I feel calm now, I can breathe. It's a good day. It's such a great feeling to have immunity and know I won't be first boot. I'm really proud of the tribe because we were able to get it done. I am so thankful for Dani being able to edit that video because that must have taken a lot of time and energy, and also really happy that we were the only tribe to have all of our members participate. Good luck to the person on Talio who didn't...although I don't know why they didn't so they could be fine. Also really happy I don't have to deal with tribal tomorrow because I'll be at a party so I wouldn't be able to talk to as many people. Like yea I have an alliance and I trust them, but I would have liked the ability to make my plan happen if we were going to tribal. But we're not so I'm happy.

Well, we won our first challenge, which is great, my idol search has been uneventful, and Dani wants to form an alliance of me her and Nicholas, which is good because she wants to work with me, but could backfire with me already in an alliance with Amanda, Colin, and Timmy. In a perfect scenario we won't ever go to tribal more than once so I don't have to worry about betraying anybody. I'm also trying to maintain a relationship with Bodhi to keep that avenue open as well, I'm in a weird middle position, and I think my decisions going forward are gonna keep ramping up in importance.

ok so we had our first challenge which was the music video and i was like...fuck yeah ive never lost this....then i looked at my tribe...honestly most of them look dead and im not sure they have pulses or have ever felt emotion past "eh." so i was little worried but i think with my editing skills and mo's fantastic performance we fucking rocked it. (even tho emilys mom yelled at me) a few days ago both isaac and julia messaged me saying that blake wanted an alliance with us four....and i couldnt love that idea more...im not sure how i feel about mo and john...and ryan is an old friend of mine who i think i can at least trust even tho he has shown up like twice since the game started. rn my first choice to go would be mo...ryan and john seem a little more inactive and i think will just stick with our group if we swap or something...mo is more active and actually has a mind of his own...and unless that mind is aligned with mine its gotta go! also queen simone!

Hello I AM SO UPSET. Kevin should by all standards be the one going home there’s been no social connection with him, he’s busy and didn’t even attempt. But here we are AGAIN as in every org I’ve ever played with rhone, people want Rhône gone first and it f*cking sucks. Every single time. Why? Like it makes me livid, at this point I rather flop to see Rhône thrive because they deserve it. In an early TS season work ethic represented outcome a lot more than now, now it’s all who messaged you hello first. Get me AWAY from these cows I am so angry. Like beyond angry, LIVID. Rhône is one of the best people I know and it just makes me upset when people think less of them because they don’t do the whole social butterfly fake ass bullshit we are all so accustomed to. Anyway so that’s my thoughts, these bitches better vote out Kevin because if Rhône goes I’m gonna fight to the death to make sure each of their asses are gone. (Unless I get voted out, even better.)

Okay so we lose the first challenge, great. My goal is to make sure I’m not a target so I talk to everyone. I feel the most secure with Andrew, and he mentions wanting to work with Kevin and I’m fine with that. Problem is, Nicole and Rhône both mention him as a vote to me. But Kevin tells me today that he is interested in going for Rhône. And everyone who I’ve talked to today says they’ve heard it’s between Kevin and Rhône... so hopefully that is the case? Problem is, Kevin is an easy vote but the people I trust don’t want him to go. So that leaves Rhône, but I also feel kind of guilty if I push for him to go since we targeted each other the first round of Crossroads, but as of now it seems like he wants to work with me? If I based it off of who I feel the least connected to on our tribe, it would be easiest for me to vote out Nicole right now. But... she took the time to edit our video so that’s kinda rude. So much drama has happened lol so the vote was between Kevin and Rhône because Kevin didn’t participate and Rhône was inactive. So Rhône comes on today and messages me saying “what are you thinking about the vote?” And I said “I’ve heard Kevin” and he said “oh I’ve heard my name” then he adds me and Nicole to a group chat to try and save himself and I’m lowkey interested. Then Andrew messaged me saying rhone told him that I was the one who spilled the beans to him about him being on the chopping block... so then I confront Rhône and he legit just gives up and asks us all to vote him. Easy first tribal np!!! Also Nicole is worried about Andrew and Kevin being friends and thinks me and her will be on the bottom if we lose again but like.. Hi! My phone is on 4% so this may be short. I have barely been around to talk to my tribe members but I made sure to do my part in the challenge cause I love music videos! So here's a little synopsis of my tribe. Ryan M - one of my good friends in this community. We just got out of a game together a few months ago and we are both very stubborn players. I'm not sure how I feel to see him as much as I love him Blake - I talk to him probably the most! He's really cool so far RTP - only ever heard of this guy but he's an icon. Great guy so far but I'd say he's my biggest threat moving forward Julia - love her!! She's so easy to talk to Mo - I like talking to him though we don't get to much. we have bonded over our gayness LOL Isaac - he has hosted me and I looove him but we haven't talked very much in this game so far?? Also jake price lives literally 15 minutes away from me. He was in crossroads with Ryan and I and he knows exactly how close I am with Ryan, while ryan knows the same about myself and Jake. This could come to bite me down the road for sure so I sorta hope those two are not in the game together for very long with me unless they will get the fuck along. They stress me out LOL
