the concept of corruption to the dark side being a visible affliction is so fucking cool to me? like, you not only have the yellow eyes, you have an absolutely haggard look. in rots anakin looks half dead after marching on the temple due to the undereye bags he’s sporting. in the mortis arc it’s even more severe - ahsoka has not only yellow, tired eyes, but also black veins, as if she’s rotting from the inside out. sidious is the most extreme example, with how his continued usage of the dark side has slowly corrupted his body until he’s greatly aged. all of these are great examples of why the jedi view the dark side as toxic. aside from the obvious moral aspects, it’s frankly a horrible idea to immerse yourself in the darkside for extended periods of time because it’s literally killing you. i know the eu goes more into depth with how the dark side corrupts not only the spirit but also the body, but i wish it was explored better in current canon because i feel like there’s a lot of missed opportunities when it comes to this. it’s a brilliant way to limit the power levels of certain characters to keep them from being op in the narrative (i’m looking at you, palpatine from tros) without completely nerfing them. there’s a trade off - power for a shortened lifespan
