i kinda don't want to play genshin tbh. i just want to play minecraft
#⇢₊˚⊹ 🩷∥ruby∥yo,ide yo !!#i swore i wouldn't sleep later than 11 pm. but man#for some reason doing weekly bosses doesn't make me feel like i actually/did/ something in the game#at this point i don't think it's feasible to do every single weekly boss every week anymore#cuz there's already 8 and we only get the 30 resin discount three times#in total we'd need 390 resin to do all of them#which is literally two days' worth of capped resin and an extra 70#one weekly transient resin from the teapot barely matters#i'd honestly rather grind normal bosses. even though i don't really need to anymore on main#unless i really want to max ascend all 7* members of my teams (*xingqiu's in both of them which i will rectify as soon as i get yelan. or#kick him out of chong's team in favor of melt. whichever comes first. would be sad but the abyss is cruel like that)#man i'm NOT looking forward to breaking up chongqiunett for the spiral abyss#they've been stuck together like glue literally since i started playing the game#i've alread max ascended chongyun cyno baizhu and bennett#not xingqiu because. oceanid man. it's painful#i really should though. as a sort of thank you for carrying me through the entire game alongside chongnett#maybe this'll be my excuse to build yanfei now lol#a little nervous about fighting the primo geovishap cuz i haven't fought it since that one world quest. which was AGES ago#but if i can beat raiden shogun without dying then i should be fine. hopefully#why couldn't it have been pyro regisvine ;-; srsly the most fun boss to beat up#atp i really should be focusing on like talents and artifacts but like...#i don't have any motivation to level anyone's talents up tbh. much less crown them#i'll probably double crown cyno at the very least. but everyone else...#i'm still a little exhausted from triple crowning chong tbh. literally the most massive resource sink in the entire game#(ik artifacts are worse resource sinks but shh im complaining here)#the minute after i gave him his last crown i was more broke than zhongli#leveling characters is way more fun than leveling talents ;-;#i don't mind going back to the taishan mansion forever and ever until the release of snezhnaya#it's just... the amount of mora i need for this shit...#aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

HellBlaster
HellBlaster, Black Dog Games, 2009
HellBlaster is a blasphemous game of Satan worship and demon-summoning that will scare your parents and make your pastor faint. It is Totally Metal and evil as fuck. At least, that's what it tells you.
HellBlaster combines some generic devil imagery, LaVeyan Satanism, the games of id software, the more notorious parts of AD&D1e, and a big dose of Judas Priest and Manowar lyrics. Your characters "fight evil with evil". Examples given include burning down a house to kill a serial killer, and summoning a demon just to murder it. There are no real sample scenarios or "here's how you get your band together", it's just assumed that you're all there to kick Satan's ass in the name of Satan or something.
It's class-and-level-based, uses exclusively 6-sided dice, and has stats and skills that are both on the 3-18 range. Stats are Might, Speed, Power, Wisdom, and Cool. Classes include the Demon Summoner, Face Eater, Pyro, and Doom Reaper. Spells and level-based abilities are almost entirely focused around the game's janky combat, and the rules are too. To their credit they slimmed down the rules compared to AD&D1e - no weapon speed factors or encumbrance - but you roll both attack and defense, you roll both damage and damage reduction from armor, you roll both psychic power and magic resistance, etc. It all has twice as many rolls as it needs while still lacking any real tactics. It has detailed critical hits. Explicitly detailed.
The art is... um... evocative of its subject matter. I can't say it's badly drawn, but I can say that I would rather not look at a lot of it. I do like that the interior uses a 2-color process: white paper, black text, day-glow green accenting. It's reminiscent of the green used in DC Comics' Underworld Unleashed crossover, where they had a normal 4-color process but also this really vibrant, fluorescent green.
The spells are described at length. Each one of them is at least half a page, so there are only maybe 80, but you'll know exactly what your character is writing, chanting, and burning while they cast. There are no in-the-moment combat spells; instead you sacrifice something earlier in the day so that you can throw fireballs or call a Razor Demon later on. Everyone gets magic. Some classes are better at it than others, both in terms of power level and breadth. Balance seems ok.
I had a real hard time figuring out whether this game is in on the joke. I knew a fair number of people back in the day who were semi-serious about evil-metal-satan stuff and who would now find this book hilarious, but the book itself has no feeling of tongue-in-cheek. It's all delivered as if it were completely serious about getting you, the reader, into someone's misguided idea of the occult. I'm still not honestly sure how self-aware the book or its author are. I guess it's up to your play group to decide whether you can keep a straight face while having your black-leather-clad Exotormentor cast Devil Scream at a slasher with a demonic conjoined twin.
HellBlaster has two supplements. Devastation of the Lamb is a scenario, and Damnation Highway is a more-demons-and-spells book. If you're looking for any of them, luckily this was published well after the Satanic Panic. A lot of Black Dog Games' work is out of print, but this had a reprint recently enough that you can probably find copies around.

hi again almandine !! i hope uve been taking care of urself too and eating well ; ur most recent post reminded me that i wanted to ask, what does a sparring session between u and ajax usually look like ? does he use his foul legacy form ? id love to hear abt the specifics on ur hcs for ur s/is powers 🙇‍♀️🫶 wishing u well !!
HIIII, hi, Clara! It’s such a delight to see you again, I hope you’ve been well! <33
I feel like playfighting is, a fairly popular pastime for us together? And by playfighting I mean “we’re leaving this interaction with water in our lungs and scorched skin that hurts to to the touch.”
I’m still slightly unsure which direction I want to take the Genshin self-insert in but having a comfort + universal s/i that is quite literally “just me does” somewhat allow me more freedom and creative liberty with with the former so I’m making little changes here and there pretty actively.
I know in yesterday’s post I was like Genshin Lapis “has killed millions & will do so again” but I think I’m more inclined to take her into a different direction of “has killed millions & now just wants to settle down peacefully” — meaning that I think GI Lapis would be on the same power level as his foul legacy form, but definitely goes easier on him on purpose during sparring. It’s not because he thinks of Ajax as weak (she’s lovestruck & probably regularly tells him he’s the strongest warrior she’s ever seen in the many years that she has roamed the planet) but rather because all things considered, GI lapis is still… you know, the pyro dragon sovereign? And despite harnessing the power of the abyss and utilising foul legacy, Ajax is still only human.
I should mention that I’m not a huge fan of mortal/immortal dynamics personally but I hardly doubt that Tartaglia subscribes to “mortality” as we know it; if he did, the use of his delusion and foul legacy would have destroyed and terminated him by now, so I view him as human but not… mortal per se? That said, Ajax would be insistent on going all out, both of them, but she scolds him because she knows how using his foul legacy affects his health and it worries her. They still spar a lot! Lapis isn’t into fighting that much anymore but she is absolutely invested in improving Ajax’s skills. Just because she is against using her own full power and adamantly against him using foul legacy in their sparring sessions (unless it’s a special occasion) does not mean she won’t literally make it rain fire on him. They are both utterly infatuated though so no matter who wins in the end, it still ends with the two giggling & telling each other throw well they did while cuddling into each other (despite being uh, soaking wet with water and sweat combined). Technically both are victors every round; one wins through combat skill, the other wins by getting pinned to the floor. Godspeed
You know that one dialogue Ajax has about even taking on the Harbingers? Yeah, she supports that idea 100%; she LOATHES the fatui and the tsaritsa (+ her harbingers) (lapis finds them pretentious) and her personal pride doesn’t find the idea of being on the absolute top of the food chain not too bad either, so, he needs to be used to breaking a few bones here and there. Plus, Lapis doesn’t engage in her previous aggressions anymore so, it’s good to get some exercise in, she supposes. It’s a win-win.
As for specifics on her powers! I’m going to be talking from a gameplay perspective here. First of all? I’m pulling the same stunt MiHoYo pulled with the Tartaglia boss fight; the atmosphere during it, the intense music, the panic when you first fight him as one of the first ever bosses (though he becomes literally the easiest one after, whoops), his foul legacy attacks, the way he dashes so fast, the magnificent creature he summons from hydro — it’s intense, it’s gorgeous. And then uh, there’s the playable Tartaglia — who is, you know, not bad! I love him even though I always have terrible luck on his banners despite the fact that I started playing in 2021. But he is still just a tad… underwhelming compared to the grandness of the version of him that we fought.
Anyway, you’re getting the same thing with GI Lapis. He isn’t fast like Ajax but she is, um, like twice the size of foul legacy in her dragon form if not even bigger so that isn’t necessary anyhow. I actually want her to be fairly tall and domineering in her dragon/boss battle form, just like… slightly smaller than Azhdaha? She doesn’t change elements or such however; she remains bound to pyro. I do however want her boss battle to be in a really shallow water body so that the player is almost constantly experiencing reverse vapourise unless they pull some fuckass geo structure bullshit. I want the boss battle music to be quite similar to the Bloodborne soundtrack OSTs but with some Doom themes. Something cathartic and visceral, you know? And then there’s… her as a playable character.
Best support character/sub-DPS for Childe you can imagine. First of all? Pyro and Hydro = vapourise, which is arguably one of the best — if not the best — reactions in the game. Secondly… I want to somehow add energy recharge to her kit (preferably through one of the active skills) so that it enhances Tartaglia’s riptide the way Raiden does. I may make her either a catalyst or a sword (or claymore!) user depending on how I feel, that part is still undecided. As for her passive skill, I think it’d be so much funnier if MiHoYo made it specific like “Increases full team’s ATK by 10% if Tartaglia is in the team, with an additional 10% ATK bonus if vapourise is performed using both character’s skills” Imagine literally requiring another character to fully be able to utilise one character’s kit? Can you imagine the profit they’d make? I could be the perfect cashcow. Non-game play powers also include knife throwing, skill with blades in general and oh! She naturally runs cold and craves warmth so she is constantly using a little bit of her pyro powers to keep herself pleasantly warm.
I also think all of this would tie in nicely with the fact that GI Lapis is no longer the fearmongering dragon warlord that she once was? He, like the other dragons we’ve seen so far, is… more or less just enjoying retirement and works in the legal field almost entirely for fun (and mora); so her being on the battlefield or fighting will literally always 100% be because Ajax is involved somehow and she would do Anything to protect this man, no matter how stupid the thing may be. Plus she likes having a “justified” excuse to be a menace from time to time anyway. To summarise the lore I have for her: war lord dragon sovereign who used to consider international peace a mere suggestion suddenly decides on giving up violence and settling down with some random anime-european man. So. You know.

4.6 beta, kinda negative
Ughhhh i tend not to be the doomposting type but like . i have to say. as much as i love her design and how insane her animations are and just her as a character. arle being just another pyro on field dps that desperately wants bennett (near 30k dps loss without him according to some calcs apparently) is just..... Sigh
like unironically idek if i really need to get her on release at this point unfortunately 😔 and chiori genuinely being the first fucking 5* in this game outside of a hypothetical ajax alt that i actually kinda sorta wanna just hard commit to and c6 over her next few reruns is like. not helping. like i could be trying for her c2 instead
the situation with her numbers seeming on the underwhelming side (? grain of salt) i think will be alleviated like theyll buff her for sure but just. bennett dependency is the ONE thing. that doesnt fly in this household. if i cant nuke 250k on childe every abyss every time whats the fucking point 😭😭 i get that its like in character for him and arlecchino to fight over a support since the harbingers dont get along but man. its so underwhelming.
like . i just Dont hand bennett out to other teams 💀 like yea applies to kazuha too but Technically if i really wanted to i could just take the time to learn guoba swirl on sucrose and keep running childe but w bennett its like nuh uh.
i only got yoimiya After yunjin made her bennett independent. i never ran raiden in abyss pre-dendro. i ran navia + furina with charlotte at first and now xianyun, not bennett despite him being the best buffer healer there. The predecent is quite clear 💀💀
like theres actually a part of me that would rather just wait for the pyro archon as the desperate last bid that instead of pyro on fielder number 17 she might turn out to be that mythical honest fucking bennett sidegrade (no upgrade lol theyll never powecreep him) and then id have an easier time considering arlecchino 😔 but now its just like. idek what id even get out of her gameplay wise unfortunately
i just wanna be hype for her man like everything about her outside of the kit minutiae is brilliant. peak. showstopping. but at this point ive already benched enough on field 5* carries who just havent been engaging for me that i just rly dont know 😭😭😭

"one thing about me is that i will always do the pyro regisvine to get the red gemstones and then craft them into the color i need bc ain't no way im doing some hypostasis or oceanid no sir no thanks i will take the easy route por favor"
dude???? its the opposite with me bc i HATE whopperflowers with all my heart and id rather fight a hypostasis alone (although ive never fought an oceanid alone bc those water illusions are a PAIN)
JHGAHSGDSHGD THE HYPOSTASIS ARE MY NIGHTMARES THEY ALWAYS RESTORE THEIR HP BEFORE I CAN KILL THEM </3
i like the pyro regisvine bc i hit that little root thing with water and it faints for a bit and then i just attack it while its passed the fuck out and boom it dies
the oceanid isnt awful ig BUT IT TAKES SO LONG bc u have to wait for all the water illusions to come and then u have to wait for the platforms to fall and its just so lengthy for NO REASON. but the first time i fought the oceanid i was intrigued i wont lie i was like :O oohhh its like a zoo !!

some concepts I had for tf2 psychonauts au in 2018 that I still remember:
i addressed it 100% as a game concept and not a fanon thing and tried to approach it as I thought a game dev would
the main character was scout, and the plot involved him learning that he had a psychic father who disappeared and he had to hunt him down to kick his ass for abandoning Ma, but finding a ton of interesting characters and uncovering a rapidly unraveling wacky plot about two rich brothers that were experimenting on people in the desert
the first character we meet is Medic, and he was the last person anyone knew that saw Spy. he's a red herring in multiple ways, because you think he's menacing and weird enough to be responsible for Spy's disappearance, and later on, he fits very well into the role of the guy making people into psychic atrocities. but he's innocent both times, he just does normal atrocities. usually involving baboon organs. you come back later to see inside his head and it's a spiralling, confusing obstacle course utilizing ur only 2 current abilities (super jump + blast). it ends when he realizes you're in there and throws you into a giant birdcage dangling over an abyss and tries to give you a medical exam. you fight his second opinion-esque internal self and help him with his fear of death and loneliness
the second is heavy, who tries to knock your block off for messing around in medics head. but you tell him about medics thing for him and he softens up. he lets you in his brain to help him remember what happened to spy. it's a Siberian themed level with a wild animal theme, but with nods to heavy's intellectual side and love for his family. the boss fight is his idealized version of his father, who, upon defeat, tells him that he doesn't always have to be strong for others. you also get enough hints about spy to move on to Engineer
engineers level is a cyber western themed level that utilizes telekinesis, and you learn to lasso things to swing and pull enemies towards you. the boss is a nod to psn1 with a mechanical bullfight, and littered throughout is references to his daunting patrilineal history. he's definitely from a long line of psychonauts
pyros next, with a pyroland themed inner mind singed at the edges. I haven't thought much in this one but it's definitely where you learn pyrokinesis right? maybe some nods to gender nonconformity and identity but you probably get tugged out before a grand discovery
at this point you've learned enough to know it's the Mann Brothers, and Grey Mann has made his appearance and convinced you of how to stop them. he teaches you the mind reading ability probably. id like to think he's the loboto ish figure instead of medic and hes played more sympathetically
demo is probably the prettiest but saddest level. with a theme based on cryptids and mythos and being a psionic warrior. it's also very silly I think but the man has serious mom issues. this whole game is parent problems 101. but! he knows where spy is!
sniper is a hard guy to find and even harder to figure out. you don't get to be in his mind for very long before he kicks you out, but it looked rather lonely and a bit paranoid. he seems pissed off that you only came to find spy, who he's sure betrayed everyone and took off somewhere. last he saw....
soldiers mind is a mess. enigmatic and paranoid, with cartoonish ideas of patriotism and the military. a bit like oleanders, but more wacky. he doesn't remember who he is, and only knows how to follow orders. and he was told to not talk about the Mann Brothers... I think this lvl is about reconnecting him w his past + identity, and ensuring him that he's not alone in his war
when you find spy, you discover he's been irreversibly experimented on and struggles to control his illusory abilities. he mourns having missed your life due to his fear of commitment, knowing it's too late and that he's too far gone to return to normal society. he teaches you invisibility, and you take on the Manns and their army of psychic thralls to avenge him and end up inside his mind
his mind is a nod to noir films, with a jazzy mysterious soundtrack and an intense art style shift. you hunt down a criminal to save a woman, only to discover it's spy himself. the theme is based around self, love, and the fear of your job ruining your life. he fights you as an invisible-man style villain, and upon defeat, he helps you detain the Mann Brothers and reveals that he is a psychonaut spy.
I have more ideas probably but it's way less fun to read then than see them

i learned it’s patterns through sheer repetition of that damn chamber ajskdk but rlly that place was just. ugh. i mean how am i supposed to fight this thing wHEN IT KEEPS RUNNING AWAY
most of my damage comes from childe international so. praying and hoping next abyss isn’t full of pyro/hydro enemies (if it is tho then my taser team + cryo characters will have a chance to come out, since the past few times have been not very conducive to cryo use rip)
WAIT WHAT IS THE LEAK?? i have not seen it?? even if it is fake i would like to know ajsjd and tbh i don’t regret saving the blue rocks either like even if no changes. still fun to spend a ridiculous amt of them at once and see what happens (pls ,, jean,, jean or one of the weapons i actually want,,, pls)
ZNSKZ FAIR LMAO but yeah tbh im not a fan of the whole trend of invulnerable = harder. id rather have bosses like the maguu kenki with interesting patterns and an actual challenge, not just.... 8m hp and 30s of invulnerability (although the intro for the maguu kenki is so infuriating, just get up and fight me you bitch)
tbh as long as they don't put the international abyss motherfuckers again...... istg this one was HELL i had to try so many comps before getting it right absjs
WELL it's really not confirmed, i don't even know who leaked it it's just a random leaker who also gave some info that can't get confirmed yet (aka a character's rarity) so... so far it's just baseless rumors and speculations level. but yeah, the gambling addiction will be well-fed with these pulls <3 HELP hoping u get some weapons... good luck..... i need one more jean to give xiao a final, consistent buff & to run 2 geo 2 anemo but GAH DAMN she won't come. 3 times in a row but she refuses when she's needed like girl come on i built you solely for this purpose

(ง •̀_•́)ง rating genshin bosses
this is based on who I usually fight ((which means Dvalin and wolf of the North aren't included bcs im weak like that lmaooo))
(ง •̀_•́)ง(ง •̀_•́)ง(ง •̀_•́)ง
1. anemo hypostasis
– 4/10
– blue cube full of gas and air, that's all you'll ever be
– i dont like you but I main Jean 😔✊
– unfortunately for me, I can never figure out its pattern 😤😤😤
2. electro hypostasis
– 10/10
– predictable, I know your every move m8 😌💫💯
– the only thing I hate is when you trap us with your pillars and I don't get to move out of it quick enough
– also destroying the mini prisms before actually defeating you? please have mercy
3. geo hypostasis
– 2/10
– I would rather fight anemo hypostasis than you sjJDNAJDNSK
– YOUR PILLARS ARE TOO STRONG ((or my claymore characters aren't strong enough lmao))
– no words, im glad I dont main geo users hsjsjsjsj
4. pyro regisvine
– I loveeee defeating you 11/10
– so satisfying when I see the hp bar of this plant boss go down 📉
— my fave way to defeat this is to jump from the top ((I saw a vid where they just plunged attacked and the boss was defeated, I've been trying my luck but alas 😪))
5. cryo regisvine
– :dragonspine war flashbacks:
– 5/10
– I dont usually fight this boss except to ascend chongyun ((which is rare nowadays jsjdjs))
– not too bad, id fight it only if I have to
– actually that's a lie, I didnt finish fighting you in dragonspine and the event expired ahHAAHSHSJAJ
6. oceanid
– why are you like this
– who made you
– havent we had enough suffering already
– 1/10
– although I am trying to familiarise myself with it ((for the sake of ascending xingqiu)) but I keep dying lmaooooo
7. childe
– chaotic mf, id fight you any week
(ง •̀_•́)ง
– was NOT expecting three different anime girl transformations but here we are
– mmmm id give you a 6/10 maybe even a 7
– not that bad, the thing i dislike about this boss level is when he does that zappy thing in the third transformation
