#id like to think the latter. i put a lot of thought into it
Text
so i had the bright idea of rewatching s1 today whilst im working from home, now knowing what i know about s2, and so i can ruminate a little more on s1 with the additional context. ive barely made it past five minutes
im pretty sure ive gotten most of the frames accurate from this bit, and im sure it might just be a bit of demonstrative cinematography (which ya know, *chefs kiss*) but at the same time i love going into full year 9 english teacher mode about this shit, and i think there is something to comment on (which someone already might have done but w/e). in any case, this bit of dialogue is very noticeably layered with shots of crowley and aziraphale, but intercut with the shots of adam facing down the lion:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like, i can't help but feel that there is some symmetry in this and either other people have spotted it and im very behind, OR we havent spotted it and s2 spoilers have helped unlock it✨
so who is meant to be who here? for my money it would be that adam is mirroring aziraphale, and eve is mirroring crowley - in so much that at a really shallow level, aziraphale is a platoon leader, a guardian, fought in the war etc. crowley, regardless of his rank, is a starmaker, and let's face it the boy has the structural integrity of a strand of dried linguine. so we could look at it on that level (ignore the lion for the moment ill sort of explain that if it isn't already obvious)
but also we now know that this scene is not their first meeting, and that aziraphale and crowley do in fact remember each other and know that they have met, and in aziraphale's case is probably the teeniest bit shy bc damn heart eyes as an angel, heart eyes as a demon 🥵 but my point is that this is after the fall. after (as far as crowley tells it) crowley fell for 'just ask[ing] questions", and "just hung around the wrong people".
now i have my thoughts on why crowley fell: tldr because it would require another post - both reasons he gave above are bullshit and obvs conflict with each other, so i think that he doesn't actually know why he fell and has just guessed his transgressions so he can rationalise it, that god actually never had an issue with him asking questions, and instead it was actually god's plan to make him fall so he could represent the 'evil' side of free will on earth, as aziraphale's counterpart, and essentially ensure that humankind stays eternally 'in balance'
ANYWAY so the fact that in the lion sequence, 'crowley' is being shielded by 'aziraphale' against an unknown entity; but does this mirror a flashback, or is it foreshadowing? again, id put my bets on the former visually, but the latter... lyrically? idk the word but regardless take the dialogue:
"What if I did the right thing;
with the whole 'eat the apple business'?
A demon can get into a lot of trouble;
for doing the right thing."
so let's rephrase this:
"Was it the right decision to fall;
was I right to choose this for myself?
to choose the right to choose?
Because i feel like i could live to regret it."
so is crowley in essence already asking if aziraphale is on his side? is he asking if falling was the right thing, the good thing, to do (regardless of whether god gave him any choice in the matter)? But was he given the choice, first true free will? did aziraphale try to protect him during the fall, so crowley could get out in time (but ultimately fail? or at least bought Crowley enough time to find a back staircase and fall gently and peacefully, 'saunter vaguely downwards'?), and then get assigned to earth to be the 'good' side of the coin for humanity?
and is crowley asking if aziraphale will continue to be with him? in whatever romantic, platonic, acquaintance context you want - is he asking aziraphale if aziraphale will fight for him again, for them both? aziraphale made his decision, enacted his free will, in giving the humans a sword, and thus brought the concept of war and horror to earth, even if that was never his intention - so now swordless, and now only condemned to watch humanity as it strides out on its own (or was this the plan all along?👀), is aziraphale willing to do it? does he have the power, the strength, the will? would he stretch his finger over the line to fight on their side?
maybe im asking the wrong kind of questions, but all ill say is that in the above sequence? at the end of the dialogue? adam kills the lion.
i think 'their side' began in the job minisode, yes maybe, but also maybe the idea of it, the understanding of it, was planted here.

among us au please?
hi \o/ firstly i'm going to direct you here for some backstory/information about the au
next: here is a bit of the first chapter \o/! it's 2500 words basically so reblogs are appreciated but it does cut off before a proper chapter resolution
Really, there are better things Felps could be doing with his life. But technically he’s obligated to do this, and he hasn’t found anything else to do, so, here he is. Handing over the fake ID Cellbit made for him.
The security guard barely even scrutinises it before passing it back, and nodding him through. It’s always a gamble, though. So, he keeps walking until he’s far enough out of view that the other guards won’t really pay attention to him, and lingers until Cellbit catches up.
“Easy.” Cellbit mutters. “I don’t even think he read our names.”
“Well, easier is better, right?”
“So careless. It’s like they’re asking us to kill them.”
“He’s not in the line of fire.” Felps says with a shrug. “Even with all the security crackdowns, no ports have been attacked yet.”
“We should change that.” Cellbit says, far too determined for Felps’ liking.
“I dunno… you know the plan. Cucurucho won’t like it if we deviate from it.”
“Fuck him.” Cellbit hisses. “Any day now I’m going to get you your freedom, and then we can kill whoever the fuck we like.”
“Keep your voice down.”
Felps says it calmly, but he won’t deny that the slight rise in Cellbit’s volume sent a spike of fear through him. Cellbit doesn’t seem to care as much—confident that he’ll be able to break them out of whatever prison—but Felps would rather not chance it. That’s the whole reason they’re doing this, after all. He’s caught between a prison sentence from the Federation, and a prison sentence from the human government.
Ultimately, Cellbit would prefer the latter, Felps is sure. If the Federation finds out he’s travelling with Felps, they’ll probably just kill him.
Thankfully, though, Cellbit changes the topic to something less incriminating, and Felps spends the rest of the walk through the station feeling calmer. Until they hit the body scanners.
The ID check is always easy. Even when heavily scrutinised, Cellbit is good enough at making them that they always end up passing through with no problems.
The body scanner is a different subject.
It’s finicky. Relies entirely on Cellbit’s ability to successfully use sleight of hand to put in the USB with the code that’ll make Felps look human, and then take it out again. Without any guards noticing.
One of the reasons they hit this port specifically, though, was that they haven’t been involved in any incidents. No caught aliens, and no departing ships that never arrive to their destinations. The crackdown has been intense, but people are lazy. A persistent, unconscious thought of, but it’d never happen to me.
This station is fairly busy, too. A lot to keep an eye on, no reminder to keep an eye on it—it’s the best shot they have.
Cellbit steps on first. The holographic grid climbs up his body, and then back down. He’s waved along. He stops, and leans close to the guard—his elbow resting on the desk, hand lingering past their view. Easily, he slips the USB into the computer.
“I’m just gonna wait for my friend, is that okay?”
Felps can’t hear him over the crowd, but they’ve gone over the plans a million times.
The security guard nods, looking bored. Felps steps onto the platform. The scanner sweeps over him, static and nerves following it. But it’s easy enough to keep his cool while his heart is beating in his throat. He’s always been good at that, even without the amount of practice he’s been put through recently.
He steps off the platform. Doesn’t even get the chance to worry as the computer quickly confirms him as human. The guard waves him through. Cellbit pushes himself away from the desk—USB safely retrieved, and quickly hidden back in his sleeve.
“Easy.” Cellbit mutters again.
“Easy is good.” Felps reminds him again.
When they first started doing this, Cellbit used to revel in all the gaps of transport security, and how easy it was to exploit them. Felps thinks, maybe, Cellbit misses the challenge a little. He doesn’t know a lot about what put Cellbit on that prisoner transport ship, but with the gleeful look in his eyes when he murders, he can take a guess.
“Do you remember where our ship is?” Felps asks, before Cellbit goes on another rant about lax security.
“Of course I do.”
Cellbit takes his arm, and pulls him off in a direction. Felps lets himself be led.
It’s a smaller ship, as usual. Which means it’ll stay in port until they arrive. Felps is tempted to take a detour to eat a proper meal before they leave, but he knows they need to stake out the situation.
The information on this ship is frighteningly scarce. Usually Cellbit can have a whole crew list pulled up, as well as general spaceship schematics. This one has nothing, though. All they managed to find was a list of potential departure stations so they could sway the choice their way.
It’s not the kind of mission Felps is happy to take. Cellbit’s eyes had practically lit up the second he realised it wasn’t going to be easy, and had spent roughly the next forty eight hours trying to dig up any scraps of information he could.
Felps hid all his coffee sometime around hour number thirty nine; when he was too focused on the investigation to remember how much he had in stock, and figured he had just run out. Or, that’s what Felps assumes, considering Cellbit never bothered him about the missing coffee. Either way, he eventually passed out at his desk.
The point is, even though they should be through the difficult part, Felps still feels his unease grow.
Cellbit stops abruptly, Felps bumping into him.
“There.” He points over to airlock number six. “That one.”
Felps cranes to try and look at the ship through the window. It doesn’t look like a model he’s familiar with, but he’s a little too far away to tell.
“Let’s go introduce ourselves then.”
They walk over, dodging through the crowd. There’s no one waiting outside the airlock yet, but Felps catches a glimpse of someone with bright pink hair carrying cargo onto the ship.
He makes a beeline towards them. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Cellbit heading to the window facing the ship. Felps knocks quickly on the edge of the airlock to announce his presence.
“Yeah, hold on.”
The voice is familiar, but Felps can’t place it. Probably just the accent.
They place down the boxes hastily, turn around—and practically jump five feet into the air.
“What the fuck?” Mike exclaims, eyes wide. “Felps? You’re alive?”
Ah. That’s why it’s familiar.
“Oh. Yeah!” Okay, this complicates things. “Hi, Mike!”
“What are you doing here?”
“I’m the pilot.”
“You’re—? Ugh.” Mike swipes a hand under his glasses, and drags it back down his face, clearly annoyed. “These stupid fucking blackout documents. Well, it is good to see you, at least.”
“It’s good to see you, too.” And it is, really. Felps had grown… maybe too attached to him and Pac. “I’m here with Cellbit—he’s my co-pilot.”
“Cellbit made it out, too? Damn, soon you’ll be telling me the murders just completely stopped after we left.”
“Ah, I wouldn’t know.” Felps lies. “We took a page out of your book.”
“Good idea.”
“So, you’re working here?” Felps asks, dread curling through him.
He managed to get Cellbit to leave them alone before, but this ship is a lot smaller. They probably won’t get that luxury this time.
“Yeah, me and Pac. We’re the engineers.”
“Nice!”
Not nice. Really not nice. Shit.
“Well,” Mike points a thumb behind him, “Pac’s in the engine room setting some stuff up if you want to go say hi.”
He resolutely tries to ignore the butterflies floating through his chest at the thought of seeing Pac again. He’s probably going to have to let Cellbit kill them, now is not the time.
“Thanks. I think Cellbit’s taking a look at the ship.”
“Cool, cool. I’ll see you later, then.”
“See you later.”
As they go their separate ways, Felps quickly messages Cellbit the news. Then he tries to find his way towards the engineering room.
It’s more difficult than it should be. The ship’s layout isn’t like any he’s been on before, and there’s absolutely no maps, or directions anywhere. But finally, he stumbles into the place. The heat from the engines is overwhelming, but nice. Felps rarely feels temperatures that mimic the types of weather he grew up with.
There’s a grate on the floor that’s pulled up, and Felps can see a blue hoodie, and black hair crouched down in the space revealed.
“Hi!” Felps calls out over the sound of idling engines, trying not to startle him.
It doesn’t work. Pac yelps, and there’s the distinct sound of something being dropped. Then he pokes his head out from the space, and grins.
“Felps!” Pac pulls himself up so he can sit on the floor, legs still dangling over the edge. “Mike told me you were here.”
In lieu of taking off the hoodie, he’s just pushed the sleeves up to his elbows. Grease covers his arms—there’s spots of it on his face, too. He looks good.
“Yeah! It’s good to see you again.”
“You too! Man, I’m so glad you’re alive.” Pac winces. “Sorry we didn’t take you with us. It’s just the lights went out, and we couldn’t find you, and then—uh, yeah. We, like, had to get out.”
Felps keeps his eyes carefully trained on Pac’s face, instead of letting them dip down to where his legs are. He’s not supposed to know about that.
“It’s fine.” He says with a shrug. “Me and Cellbit got out pretty much right after you, anyway.”
“That’s good.” Pac clicks his fingers. “Oh, hey, have you met Miss Government Agent yet?”
“Miss—huh?” He laughs, not worried about the fact it sounds nervous. He thinks anyone would be in this situation. “A government agent?”
“Yeah! She’s who we’re transporting. Bagi, her name is.” Pac lifts his legs out of the hole so he can stand up. He’s wearing long pants, so from Felps’ brief glance, he still has no idea what his leg looks like now—how well it managed to heal, if it did at all. “I know, I know those blackout documents are so annoying, right? But, yeah, that’s the reason—safety protocols, and all that. I don’t even know what she does in the government, it’s that top secret! I can introduce you guys, if you want?”
“Oh, sure. Thank you.” He watches Pac shift the grate back in place. “Unless you’re busy?”
“Nah, Mike’s better with all this stuff, anyway.” Pac shrugs, and wipes his hands together as if that would do anything but just smudge the grease more. “He’ll do a check over on my work, and finish up anything I missed.”
“Okay, nice.”
God, he never should’ve let Cellbit accept this mission. A government agent? Who the government is going to these lengths to protect? They’re never going to live comfortably again if they follow through with it—constantly on the run from authorities who would never leave a case as big as this alone.
Pac grabs a rag near his toolbox, and absently attempts to clean the grease from himself.
“Also, don’t be surprised if you see a kid running around.” Pac informs him. “His name is Richarlyson, and—my god, Felps—he’s so cute.”
Felps feels the blood freeze in his veins.
“A kid? There’s a kid here?”
“Yeah, he’s mine and Mike’s actually.” Pac says, unaware of Felps’ escalating crisis. “We adopted him—totally legally, by the way—hm, maybe earlier this year?”
“Oh, how cool!”
A kid. Felps can’t kill a kid. Well, technically he hasn’t really killed anyone, but he knows that the blood on Cellbit’s hands may as well be on his, too.
They’ve never been in a situation where a kid was on the line. Felps doesn’t know how to proceed now that there is.
He knows he’s gotten a reputation within the Federation of being brutal, but efficient. All Cellbit, really, but Cucurucho doesn't know about him. Maybe that’s why he was given this mission.
But he hasn’t even come to terms with the fact he’ll need to let Cellbit actually kill Pac and Mike this time. And now there’s a kid. And they also need to kill a government agent, too, and there’s no way the aftermath of that is going to be pretty.
This is very quickly spiraling out of control—veering heavily away from the kind of chaos Felps enjoys with these missions.
He needs to talk to Cellbit. Quickly.
But, for now, he also needs information. So, he follows Pac out of the engine room, and down the confusing hallways.
“The ship layout is very strange.” Felps comments.
“Yeah, you can thank Mike for that.” Pac says with a laugh. “He designed it.”
“Really? That’s cool.”
“We built it a couple years back. I don’t know why the government wants to use our ship, though. Surely they’ve got better ones at their disposal, right?”
“Must be to do with the whole secret thing.” Felps shrugs. “Like, if people want to attack the ship a government agent is on in the middle of space, they’re probably not going to look for something two random guys built, right?”
Not like it really worked out for them. Somehow Cucurucho still got their hands on the information.
“Ohhh, very true, very true.” Pac sends him a smile, and Felps tries not to trip over his feet at the sight of it. “You’re very smart, Felps.”
“Thanks!” He thinks he’s smiling a little too much like an idiot at the compliment, and quickly changes topics. “Wait, but if it’s your ship, why are me and Cellbit here? Surely you both can fly it.”
“Well, we can, but… I dunno. More hands on deck if there’s an emergency, maybe?”
“Ah, true.”
“Here, let me connect to your comm—I’ll give you a map.”
Pac stops in them in the middle of the hallway. While he’s distracted with the task, Felps takes the opportunity to drink in the sight of him—now that they’re closer and he can see all the little details more clearly. He looks mostly the same as Felps remembers, honestly. Still beautiful. If Felps had to point out what’s changed, he’d say that Pac looks less scared.
See, Felps hasn’t been able to forget the expression on Pac’s face when the lights turned out, and Cellbit tackled him to the ground. Even after all this time, he can still conjure the sound of Pac’s screams of pain, and desperate pleas for help clearly in his mind.
Felps usually likes to let Cellbit have his fun. This was the first—and only—time he’d ever interrupted that.
It’s… nice to see Pac not so scared.

and that's what i have so far \o/! hope you guys enjoyed! unfortunately this is way too much of a multi-chaptered fic for me to work on actively right now, but maybe when i finish one of the others i'll come back to it

Now, I have the dilemma of being both a scrawny Heart and a chubby Heart fan.
My taste in men is scrawny, short and meek, don't get me wrong; and my only taste for chubbier people is very specific, so naturally making my second-favourite character of all time be the latter option seems rather unlikely, but believe it or not I'm capable of liking a character even if they're not my type! Just because I love pathetic twinks doesn't mean rounder characters aren't cool and deserving of love too. :)
However, strangely I just love chubby Heart. I love it when depressed characters are overweight because it adds a special layer of realism; depression can cause overeating, depression can cause a lack of exercise, antidepressants can cause someone to gain weight, someone can become depressed because of insecurities about their weight, etc.
I think we need more characters that are chubby for reasons besides loving food, because there's a lot of complex reasoning behind it! Plus, representation for bigger people is wonderful. But while I could rant about this for hours, that's not what I'm here to talk about!
I made a compromise for my Heart with my love for both headcanons. However, it's not in a way that would be traditionally realistic for humans, it's written with fictional evolution in-mind!
Ids, Heart and Mind (and kind of Soul)'s species in my little canon-divergent AU I share with Grimm Grimm, are strange animals meant to survive in mild conditions, namely forests.
They are not meant to survive the cold; in-fact, bundling up with several layers of clothing won't keep them warm enough, like how a human would.
Instead, they have two solutions that work in coordination: By eating a lot, ids can release a significant amount of that energy as heat, whilst also putting on a lot of weight to help insulate their bodies.
Ids do not have fur (in-fact, they somehow have less than a human does), nor do they know how to start fires in the wild, with their IQ-of-a-five-year-old in their natural habitat. So, they get plumper and spent the coldest hours of the day in a den, snuggling up to one another to preserve and share as much warmth as possible, and rest through much of the colder temperatures, before going out to hunt and forage for plant-based food to help maintain the weight and heat they need.
Heart and Mind are the rare case of civilised ids; ids raised by a human. This means that they don't technically need to do this, as a nicely-heated home can do the trick, but they still have the instinct to get chubbier to help warm, especially with the outside temperatures posing a threat, and the imminent risk of hypothermia even in good conditions.
Heart is not at all bothered by having a heavier size during the colder months, even having a bit of fondness of it due to sating his body's needs. With this compromise, half the year Heart is scrawny, and half the year he's a decent bit chubby– for a reason I think is pretty cool! He's an animal going by animal instincts.
I apologise if this is bad somehow! I have no intentions to hurt anyone's feelings. I just simply like the idea of Heart and Mind getting bigger in the winter months because, well, they're animals, and it's their way of keeping warm. I've always been a massive zoology nerd, so I thought it'd be pretty cool. :)
That's all! I hope you enjoy my little ramble about my little evolutionary anomalies. :)

you or them saying “id give you head” as a (not)joke
pairing - gn!reader x kags, ushi, tendou, kenma, oikawa, tsuki and bo
tw!! slight suggestive themes, nothing too sexy sexy,
lets start with the guys that would be on the receiving end
kags 🫶
he is flustered..!! “p-pardon?!” you put your hands on both sides of his head, jokingly pushing his head down. “or would you like it the other way?” you ask. he wants to just melt away. ‘this is so embarrassing’ he thinks. “youre joking” he says softly. and you chuckle. “idk. i might not be” you replied. “throughout my life, ive spent it with you” he starts off. and youre starting to get scared(not) that he could be agreeing. “and you’ve never had a bf. that just means you have little experience. i wouldnt take head from a newbie” your expression drops. “so YOUVE received?” “possibly?” the remaining of the day was spent with you chasing kageyama around still thinking he never told you. even though he lied.
ushi 💪
would probably be like; “you cant. im just too much” which makes you gag. his reply didnt make you back off. “whatever, go big or go home, yk?” you said with a smirk and tying your hair up. now, ushi is scared. ‘either everything goes down the drain, or it could go really well!’ he thought trying to stay positive. the higher beings may have listened to his prayers and gave him the latter.  he has his dream gf, just no head 😔
kenma 🤘
just literally says “then get under the desk and get it over with” he honestly doesnt care. free head? sure! “you really thought i meant that?” you asked. he looked over at you, “you really think i wouldnt get your pranks after being friends with you for so long?” you pouted. another failed prank. when will he ever fall for anything? this just left you to find new ways to prank him.
tendou 🙌
i mean. well. ok look. “id love to have your head. it’d be a great trophy!” “seriously?” he nodded. you ended up crying into a pillow whilst he laughed. dont worry he also felt bad. so to make up to you, he gave you head.. 😳
now the ones saying it
OIKAWA HANDS DOWN.
so.. yeah…well you see. WHOS NAÏVE ENOUGH TO DECLINE HEAD FROM THE GREAT KING. yeah he said it as a joke. but after your “yes, my king” and a few simple seconds of teeth against teeth. it was no longer a joke.
tsukiblalala 👏
boi- anyways. uhm. well. HAH. you were laughing so HARD. you were in the middle of an online CLASS. and luckily, the mic was off. but you started laughing so hard and couldnt hear your teacher calling your name. “i dont get why youre laughing so much. because i should help and give you a head with your assignments” oh so he didnt understand that phrase. but you continued laughing anyways(actually he did understand. and this part was foreshadowing the next)
bokuto 🤞
oml. he’s- AGHHHHHH. baby. we must protect. you were struggling with homework and he asked “do you want head? i could help! i might not be the best at studying, but i can help ease your stress!” what he meant was; instead of asking if you needed a hand, which was useless, he asked if you needed a head. which was basically two brains to make work easier. it made sense in his brain. but for you, oh man. it took a lot of explaining for him to understand. as he now understood, “you still want head?” HES SO CUTE IM DYING.
hopefully this was enjoyable and not confusing 🤲

this is not something id usually post but why not!
ive been on a queer movie kick lately, and wanted to give a few reviews and recommendations of some lesser known ones so i can spread the word because some of these are complete hidden gems!
Beautiful Thing | 1996
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i rated this movie four stars. not because it is outrageously deep or new or profound. but of how it’s so particularly captured such a subculture of life, and can make even the worst things seem joyful. the relationships, even outside of the main romance, were also nuanced and detailed, and it felt like you knew all of the characters from people in your own life. ithink the best way that I can describe it is that it was endearing in a really normal way. and the last shot is perfect.
Shelter | 2007
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i have rewatch this movie twice since I originally have seen it. once again, this movie really captures a particular person’s life and it’s so much more about life than it is just the romance. It felt like a natural connection, the characters had chemistry, and i was just giggling a lot of the time. im a sucker for a found family movie and this really hit the spot. i did cry the first time.
Latter Days | 2003
⭐️⭐️⭐️
this movie was interesting. I really enjoyed the main characters connection with his best friend and I found most of the scenes totally normal early 2000s stuff. the romance was good, the chemistry was there most of the time, and I was rooting for them after one of the big events later in the movie. I watched this after the first two and my expectations from those put me at too high a bar, and just this one fell in comparison.
Birdcage | 1996
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
this movie was a pleasure. i absolutely love Robin Williams, and I think his performance in this was great. I love queer movies that involve drag, as that is such a big portion of queer culture. I thought the premise was interesting enough to keep me connected, I felt like it had a logical chain of events that culminates in an interesting watch. there were some points where I felt like it was dragging on too long, or the joke was repeating itself too much however, I think some parts of it absolutely captured queer culture in a way that makes me have to appreciate it. I definitely recommend.
Shiva Baby | 2020
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
this whole movie was centered in one house, 99% of it was just scenes in this home from a funeral which on paper, sounds like it could make it boring but I really enjoyed watching this movie. rachel is so talented and her performance in this movie was great and I think this role was perfect for her. I’m a big fan of slice of life and this was definitely that. but also extremely dramatic and messy and complicated in the best way.
Theater Camp | 2023
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
as someone who did not grow up in theater, but had friends that did, this movie was absolutely incredible. the characters were great, and knew when and how to make fun of itself, while still taking itself seriously in someways. their performances throughout the whole thing are great. this movie is really stuck with me for one reason or another, i think it’s gonna be a new go to comfort movie.
The Four-Faced Liar | 2010
⭐️⭐️⭐️
if I’m being honest, this movie wasn’t great. but when you’re trying to find sapphic films that aren’t historical or depressing, it’s really hard to be picky. It’s a dramdy at its finest. interconnected and messy relationships, slightly insufferable characters then sprinkle in some cringe you get this movie. but sometimes the drama is what you need. and there’s also movies that you need to make fun of while also paying half attention to, if you’re looking for that this is your pick.

Beyond What the Lights Could Offer - Chapter 1
Soukoku Kowloon Walled City 1980s Filmmakers AU. Prepare thyself for agonisingly slow updates, a lot of references towards Hong Kong and me screaming into the void.
original fic link on AO3 (by yours truly): Beyond What the Lights Could Offer by Lemon(ivlenyxx)
May 14th 2023, 29 years, 10 months since the release of Stray Dogs.
“Nakahara-san, Dazai-dan, nearly 30 years have passed since the release of the hit movie ‘Stray Dogs’,” the interviewer says with a smile. “It has grossed over 800 million USD at the box office and many consider it a classic. Many fans have wondered ‘Just what is the story behind the film?’. Now that’s a question that’s been asked for nearly thirty years now, so we beg of you,” she claps her hands together to form a prayer gesture and bows her head. “What exactly is the story behind Stray Dogs?”
The pair sitting opposite her both chuckle, amused.
“Alright, alright. Since it’s nearly the 30th anniversary, we’ll tell you.” the man in the fedora answers.
Nakahara Chuuya, age 52, executive producer of “Stray Dogs”, sits up straighter as he ponders the question, combing through his faded copper hair with his hand; his partner, Dazai Osamu, age 51, director of “Stray Dogs”, smirks slightly, wrinkles spreading across his face. “Come on, Chibi, can’t keep our fans waiting,” he nods towards the interviewer and the TV crew across from them. “Unless the Great Nakahara Chuuya is getting slow in his old age.” he teases, leaning over Chuuya’s neck.
Nakahara noticeably bristles under his partner’s breath, that discomfort quickly morphs into annoyance and reaches its stunning conclusion as Chuuya grabs Dazai’s collar. “I swear to God, you shitty mackerel-” he snaps as the other man whines and wallows dramatically under his grip. “We’re the same age! I can’t take a moment to think?!-”
“No! Oh no! Chuuya is attacking me!” Dazai exclaims and yaps, notes of fake panic and amusement dripping from his voice. (The interviewer sits awkwardly in silence while the rest of the crew whisper amongst themselves) “My God, this is marital violence!” He throws up his arms (making sure to flash a gold wedding band at the camera) and easily overpowers his dear Chibi, shoving him onto the far end of the couch before redirecting his attention to the interviewer, the poor unfortunate soul bearing witness to Nakahara making grabby hands at Dazai while the latter holds him off with a hand in his face. “It goes a little something like this…”
April 29th 1986, 8 years before the release of Stray Dogs.
Chuuya’s not exactly sure how he ended up here, but okay.
The red light floods the crowded, 40 square foot room, Chuuya’s eyes hurt from the strobing lights;Chuuya’s ears are bleeding from the music blasting through the crackling radio.
Oh second thought, not okay. Chuuya wants to leave.
He puts down the half finished glass of cheap whiskey before manoeuvring his way through mountains and seas of people dancing to the beat of something that just came on. (something American, he doesn’t want to know) The red lights continue to pull assassination attempts on his eyes, which is only made worse by the pixelated screens displaying images of half naked men and women “available” in this cursed brothel-nightclub hybrid. The two dozen people making out in every direction doesn’t help either.
If there was such a thing as unsee juice in this world, Chuuya would like 10 litres of it, please.
Finally, Chuuya makes it out of the brothel-nightclub, (thankfully in one piece) he looks back at the bouncer, who doesn’t even spare him a glance. Hell, he didn’t even ask him for any form of ID, despite him obviously being underaged. His short stature speaks for itself.
Guess that’s Kowloon Walled City for ya.
Chuuya makes his way through the interconnected hallways, counting and reading the posters plastered all over the place. 1, 2, 3, 4… 28. He thinks half of them are advertising stuff for the Port Mafia Gang. Interesting. He’d heard of them, of course. The most powerful underground organisation of the Walled City, operating in the dark (well, as dark as the City of Darkness could get) or even beyond. He’d heard rumours of them stretching all the way to Lantau Island and the Shatin District. Hell, even Cheung Chau’s underworld carries traces of their interference!
Not that he’s ever personally been down there, of course. The underworld, he means.
Chuuya kicks at his feet as he makes his way up to the rooftop of the building, the gate creaks agreeably every time he pushes it and it returns to its original position with a pleasant clang! He squeezes his way through the drying sheets, careful not to bump into them in his dirty clothes, and legs it across a huge pile of scrap. At last, he reaches the edge of the rooftop and leans on the railing, taking in the sight of the City in the middle of the night. There are still a few lights on at this hour, not counting the establishments of the night, aka the opium traders, nightclubs, gambling dens, makeshift casinos etc etc. He spies one on the far left, the light of the balcony flickers in a way that reminds him of moths flapping their wings, and under the light is a boy his age with black hair and a bandage over his right eye, teetering back and forth on his feet, fingers gripping tight on the handrail. His eyes are downturned, expression blank.
What a weirdo. Chuuya thinks. He turns away to light a cigarette and takes a long drag. The next time he looks, the light is off, the boy is gone.
He can’t help but feel disappointed, somehow.
Chuuya shrugs off the feeling and takes another drag of the cigarette, looking straight ahead, beyond the Walled City, at the Kai Tak Airport. Planes take off and land dangerously close to the buildings nearby, another few soar mere metres above Chuuya’s head, their loud, rumbling engines sing a comforting tune to accompany the city’s orchestra of dripping air-cons and creaky pipes down below.
It’s as beautiful as ever.
One of these days, I’m getting outta here. He vows, before putting out the cigarette and flicking it off the roof.
He doesn’t know how many hours have passed, only that this is the perfect way to celebrate his fifteenth birthday.
Chuuya continues to admire the view of the Kowloon Bay, occasionally glancing over to Victoria Harbour for a glimpse of its colourful and lively skyline. The best part about this corner of Kowloon Walled City? It contains the tallest building. One can pretty much see everything within a 20 km radius, and if one’s lucky, the clouds’ll part for the stars, and even the shortest, most 150-centimetre-ed of people could enjoy their glory.
He reaches for the radio beside him, switching between channels until he finds one that plays something that suits his favour.
It ends up being an English channel, playing something from a new writer from America.
“Now playing: The Tell-Tale Heart, by Edgar Allan Poe,” the presenter states calmly, before a low and unsettling voice takes its place, narrating the tale of an insane man who murdered his elderly housemate.
Chuuya listens absent-mindedly as he lights another cigarette and continues to watch over the Walled City, his position giving him a handy bird’s-eye view over everything else. More lights have switched on, the opium dens are starting to close, the bars and brothels are chasing people out like a restaurant owner at animals like you see in movies or it’s 20-something A.D. and they have leprosy. Must be nearly morning.
Oh shit it’s nearly morning.
His eyes widen as he catches the faint blue ring of the sun rising over the horizon and slowly but surely evolve into a blinding orange light that pours over the Sai Kung District to the east, then to the Uni of Sci and Tech, to Tseung Kwan O- Chuuya throws his cigarette over the railing for the second time before shutting off the radio and making a mad dash for the gate, legging it over the scrap, nimbly contorting his body to avoid touching the sheets, before finally bolting down the stairs and out of the building. He passes the town square - a relic from the Walled City’s past as a Song Dynasty military outpost - and nearly slams straight into a bunch of bakbaks and popos doing taichi. A couple of them yell at him for his insolence. He zips his way through alleyways full of drunkards and shakes off a madman trying to gut him with a knife, (it’s the Walled City, he’s seen worse) he looks up for a split second and stops in his tracks.
He can see the sky from here.
The small slit of bright, warm blue peeks out amongst the mess of pipes and haphazardly built roofs, the clouds dance across it in pinks, soft oranges and light yellows. Chuuya stares up at that beautiful sight through the gap, the City has never been this generous before, the most daylight he ever got to see was approximately none, except for when he headed out of the Walled City every few months to run for supplies that the Triads couldn’t access.
Chuuya looks around for a landmark that he can bookmark into his memory, and spots another one of the Port Mafia Gang’s posters on the wall to his left.
He sighs. That oughta do. And so the poster enters his mind.
He allows himself several more minutes of staring at the sky before booking it back home, he just hopes that Shirase and Yuan won’t be too pissed.
Unbeknownst to him, a boy with jet black hair and bandages all over has been looking at him through a window for a while now.

I Get a Sugar Rush Whenever I'm With You - Chapter 7.1
Happy Friday fellow Drukkari stans, or whatever day it is for you! Took a little longer, but I'm back with the first installment of the next chapter! If you need to catch up, you can find all other chapters on my table of contents here, or you can find me on AO3 (though you'll need an account to view). Last time, Sprite won Star Baker, Ajak was eliminated, and Makkari invited Druig over. Whatever will happen next? Find out now, in the next mini-chapter of Drukkari in the Great British Bake Off!
Tumblr media
In the middle of the week, Druig found himself standing at Makkari’s door, arms full of groceries, wondering once again if this was a date or just a secret hang-out between friends. Hunter seemed to think it was the former, but then again, Hunter had said he’d marry Bobbi a third time if she’d have him, so perhaps he wasn’t the best judge of these things. Druig was leaning toward the latter just when Makkari opened the door, her eyes lighting up at the sight of him, and he found himself hoping that Hunter was right for once. She took a bag from him as she ushered him inside.
Druig wasn’t quite sure what he was expecting. While it was comparable in size to his own, Makkari’s flat was undeniably much homier than his. It wasn’t overflowing, but it was certainly filled with stuff, unlike his own sparse sitting room. That said, it was still tidy, and although he couldn’t decipher its organization himself, he felt there was likely a method to the madness. Instead of cleaning products, it smelled of old books and, as he neared the kitchen, something sweet he couldn’t quite place. As he put the remaining bags on the counter, it hit him.
Did you actually bake a lemon cake? he asked.
I’ve sort of been wanting one since last week, she answered, a playful smile tugging at her lips. Luckily, we don’t need the oven for this recipe.
Shall we get started, then?
Makkari’s eyes widened as he echoed her words from before, and her grin grew even wider.
Since they’d decided to buy cones rather than make them, they made quick work of the ice cream. Makkari guided him through it, observing him steadily as he followed her instructions. Although he was trying to concentrate, Druig thought he caught her looking directly at him rather than what he was doing more than once throughout the process. She’d looked away quickly, but not quick enough for him to not notice.
It wasn’t long before the mixture was in the ice cream maker, then all they had to do was wait. Makkari made tea to go with the lemon cake, which Druig had nearly started eating directly out of the pan, it smelled so good. Makkari had shooed him away while she cut it into slices before bringing him a plate. As they ate their cake, they chatted about work and tea preferences and practice bakes.
I mean, I baked a lot before, but practicing for the competition is practically a part-time job, Makkari said.
It would be, if they paid us, he replied with a mock-pensive expression.
Well, obviously! she retorted with a snort, which made him chuckle. But, if I’m being honest, I didn’t think I’d still be here in week seven.
Druig softened a bit as he responded, You’re not still having doubts about belonging here, are you?
Not nearly as much as before, thanks to you, she said, her expression softening as well. But I still haven’t won Star Baker, and I wasn’t so sure about my performance last week.
I’m sure you’ll win one of these times. And I wasn’t sure about last week either, but neither was anyone else. Well, except Sprite, Druig conceded.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure nothing scares her.
Agreed. I also think she’s actually twelve, maybe thirteen at most. Must’ve made a fake ID to get in.
You said it, not me, Makkari said, shaking her head but still smiling.
Well, I had no doubts that you’d still be in the competition, Druig continued. I’m slightly surprised I’m still here, though.
Hey, you’re not having doubts again, are you? Makkari asked, her face growing a bit more serious.
Only a little. Last week was tough, he admitted. I mean, Ajak’s been baking for years, and she got eliminated.
It is going to be weird without her there, she said sadly. I felt like she was always looking out for us.
Even when she was disapproving of your investigations? he asked.
Even then, she replied wistfully, but her expression grew mischievous again as she added, Although, she was wrong about not interfering.
Why do you say that? he said, though Druig had a feeling he already knew the answer.
I talked to Dane. He has decided to ask Sersi out! Makkari could barely contain her smile, and it proved to be infectious.
Wow, another successful case, then, he said, which made her giggle. I’m sure Sersi will be over the moon on Saturday.
I can’t wait to see her face! Makkari’s expression softened again as she continued, Thanks, by the way.
For what?
For always supporting my shenanigans.
Well, you do most of the heavy lifting.
True, but I couldn’t do it without your help. You make an excellent partner-in-crime.
The conversation was lighthearted, but Druig could feel the weight of her last statement, his heart swelling a bit. Between that and the way she was looking at him now, he was surprised he could form any coherent thoughts. He managed to sign, Thank you, Detective Makkari. It’s an honor to be your partner-in-crime.
Better than being Star Baker?
Undoubtedly.
She giggled at that, making him smile. As she looked up at him through her eyelashes, Druig found himself transfixed. It was as if nothing else in the world existed outside the two of them. All other thoughts seemed to drop away as he looked at the beautiful woman in front of him, and she looked back. They had begun leaning toward each other from across the small kitchen table as they talked, and Druig thought for a moment Makkari might be leaning even closer.
The ice cream maker dinged, and just as quickly as it had started, the moment had passed. Druig got up, and Makkari quickly followed suit. They sampled their chili mango ice cream, and Druig actually felt his knees buckle under him. As his senses came back to him, he noticed Makkari was laughing at his reaction. So, he leaned into it.
Glorious Makkari, I am defeated, he said, collapsing into a chair.
This made her laugh even harder, but she managed to sign, You, sir, are exaggerating!
Not even a little. I’d give you a handshake, but I can’t possibly get up.
She crossed over to him at that, saying, Well, I have to get my handshake.
Makkari offered him her hand, which he gladly took. And if their handshake lingered a bit longer than necessary, neither commented on it.

opinions on open world/creative/base building games
the one thing that always gets me about games that either are centered on or have elements pertaining to being able to build stuff like a base/house or a city or reshaping the world to your liking is that they always leave out some key elements that are practically quintessencial to engaging with the building at all
speaking from experience (and from playing acnh recently) those types of games either dont encourage the player enough to put effort into things or the things you can build end up having little to no practical purpose
the first game that comes to mind of the latter is vanilla minecraft. arguably infinite possibilities, but you're limited to the blocky style and you can quite easily beat the game and go on for irl/ in- game years without building a base at all. let alone homes or cities, since theres only you and villagers but they arent really company since theyre too busy hrrrnging their way with other villagers. theyre just a game element and i doubt anyone ever thought of them as genuine npcs. you can build castles, spaceships, anything! but theyll always be unnecessary compared to shutting yourself in a dirt hut - or villagers for that case. and even if you ignore that (and modding ands multiplayer for that case lol) then you still have to come up with the ideas for actual buildings yourself, AND then. even if you have everything in mind. building it is so painful, even with scaffolding. ive seen this opinion multiple times but minecraft simply doesnt benefit from its survival aspect. theres nothing thats worth digging all that ground and building that huge castle when it comes to time spent. its so cumbersome and unfun
the sims' house building id say is practically unparalleled - though it has plenty of limits (and furnishings behind paywalls of course) it still suffers because youre not an actual player. that house is for sims only, for people that arent you. and even if you could play there, you'd still be stuck in the game world that you cant influence like you can house lots.
while i havent played it, theres also technically house flipper but its one of those simulator games that dont have much in replayable/satisfying game loops to keep you going, and your house isnt the center point either. it also suffers from the no npc things. youre fixing houses, yet its all done through menus and no interaction (which id say works well for the game's workflow, but not belivability imo)
then theres something like terraria. it gets bonus points from having a housing system, but it still doesnt ask enough of the player and because of its genre ive always found it annoying to have to build their houses anyways. a huge majority of the good blocks are gated behind the end game, and by the time you get to build a nice house, you practically dont even need one. the enemies can also be countered somewhat easily and the npcs are, again, just that. shopkeepers that most of the time just die like boss fodder. ironically that always encouraged me to build their houses far away so they dont die.. not very helpful in creating a sense of community
the forest has a really good system and a lot of replayability, though there are barely any furnishings and everything is made out of logs. of course its not meant to be the end-all of building games and its focused on survival, but you have very good reasons to build a base, and you can get quite creative with them
and last but not least, the one that made me think about and write about this in the first place - new horizons. the creativity it allows is amazing. there are many screenshots that are incredible and barely look like the game at all. and even though there are literal hundreds of villagers and theyre more expressive than ever, they still fall flat. the islands, again, can be amazing. but almost everything is entirely cosmetic, the predefined paths and fences are very limited and so are the color choice for furnitures (though im guessing a lot if not all of these are limitations due to the console hardware/storage size). they have nicely introduced more custom design spaces and even a horizontal mirroring tool, but not an actual tiling editor.. even with the dlc they introduce stuff like wall partitions and room resizing, but the partitions can only use the main wallpaper and you cant resize the rooms in your house. and even though its nice to have a nice house, again.. outside multiplayer, theres not much purpose to them (SPECIALLY when i have to sit through loading screens to get to any of them. are you kidding me??). at best you can have a toilet to get rid of the fruit points, a kitchen for cooking and i guess a bedroom for going to dream towns.. or you could have a bed, an oven and a toilet in your room. you know. ugh
it has a lot of strengths with the kind of toy/dollhouse vibe(??) its going for, like how the house's insides are completely different from their outsides but it also means you cant have cute stuff like seeing your island from outside, seeing your villagers through windows, or just having an actual big house n stuff.
idk man.. they always seem to either lack a reason to build, or if they give you reasons to build theyre so weak you can often just not build at all. maybe im asking too much but is there ever gonna be a game that gives you a reason to build and keep going at the same time? :(
imagine if you still had villagers like acnh, but they had good dialogue and commented on your stuff/decisions, while also only moving in because you built a shop or a market or a city to live in. and the reason you built that is because your goal in-game is to be a chef or an adventurer or something, and you werent limited to an island or pre-made furniture.. something in-between the sims' cartoony realistic proportions and acnh's childish toy designs when it comes to aesthetics.. could you imagine

i remember when my very close friend and i were three months into our friendship in 2021 i remember feeling happy , quickly followed up by severe depression.
i was happy id gotten to be friends with someone this far , but i really felt like it wasn't going to be any longer than six months at most. he'd leave and that'd be that , id be back to feeling and being lonely.
with how my most recent friendships then went , i figured that id end up doing something that would make him leave , or he'd just naturally move on with other friends and forget about me. a friendship i had then at that same time had fallen apart because she pretty much forgot about me and only talked to me to get answers for a class we both had in two separate periods during distance learning. and the friendship before that broke because of me. i had been extremely upset anytime my friend interacted with anyone else and she ultimately cut contact with me.
both of those friendships lasted about 2 years , i think the latter one lasting closer to 3.
it's been a bit over 2 years and he's made it blatantly clear to me that he'll never leave me; he'll never stop being my friend , no matter what. he's helped me through a lot of things and is one of few people who ive put every ounce of my trust and faith into.
still. how ive been treated or how ive treated others in past friendships has been haunting me and i really do expect this very tight knit friendship to eventually snap one day. im always worried ill do something that'll make him leave or he'll just decide he's bored of me or hates me. i just don't know when. or if ill realize that i made him leave. i didn't for several months when my friend at the time cut contact with me - i always thought it was her until i really thought over my actions and realized it was my fault. and since then ive been very worried about snapping a friendship in half without realizing i was the cause of it. on multiple occasions i tried to just cut ties between my closest friend and me by myself but couldn't do it. i can't imagine myself in a world where he's not there and we're not friends.
i just want to be a good friend...but i know i don't deserve friends , and i have a feeling something will happen that will crush our relationship like ive been worried to the point of uncontrollable tears for the past couple of years , basically since our friendship began.

kravitz and lup for the taz x persona 5 au
(askmeaboutthepersonaauaskmeaboutthepersonaauaskmeabo)
lups design had a lot more thought put into it than kravitz. her codename is phoenix, for several reasons (her fiery personality, shes the creator of the phoenix fire gauntlet, shes literally known for using fire based spells so i had to go with some kind of fire based theme, all that good stuff). my old concepts for her had things like a flowy dress that would end in a kind of feather design, then briefly a kinda mob boss look, and then a few concepts later, i ended up going for a different idea entirely. i think a detective style trenchcoat would be fitting for the kind of roal i envisioned for lup. shes definetly the thief most dedicated to justice and solving who the black mask is, so a detective look matched with a red and yellow scarf to try and still give a phoenix look seemed fitting. for her dailywear, i stole a ginjaninja jacket. im sorry it was what i doodled and i really liked it.
her moveset is similar to ann's, focused on powerful fire attacks with some status ailment skills to go with it.
lups role in the story is either as a very late game party member who's been gone the whole time for unexplained (as of yet) reasons, OR she's been around from the start and joins the party after getting curious about where taako's been running off to all the time and following them into the metaverse. if the latter is what happened, lup awakens after seeing the party (or at least taako) in an unfair fight and wanting to protect her little bro because nobodys allowed to hurt taako but her.
kravitz was a lot less complicated, and is also probably the most joker looking fella. most of his design sketches were just combinations of a suit and some kind of reaper look (i didnt draw it but his weapon is a scythe dont worry guys). the only major change across all my sketches was the lack of hood (i debated a lot and decided to remove it, but i might add it back) and the flowy bit of his suit is new. i stole it from my older lup designs because raven queen he gets a bit of bird theme too. his dailywear may be the average cartoon scientist but thats okay. he can kin sasha if he wants to. i think he works as a mortician or akechi kinnie but is really trying to get his music to work out
kravitz's moveset is very inspired by third sem akechi, focused on curse skills but overall pretty balanced. he can be support or not depending on your mood.
his role in the story is probably similar to the black mask at first, but about halfway through he starts working with the thieves instead of against them. probably because of a deal like third sem akechi or in the crystal kingdom comic. they share similar goals so theyll work together for the time being. also hes super gay for taako. like yknow he tried to kill him but also taakos really hot. how can he not love him.
the arcana and persona choices were the result of several hours of reading the smt wiki. i almost gave lup judgement or chariot arcana but those actually went to killian and magnus respectively. id give you my reasoning for the specific arcana choices for them but for some reason on my notes i wrote "just read the wiki page" so.

Ok ANGIE MARKETS ROMANCE LESSON. Like get into comfy pajamas start kicking ur feet back and forth... angie markets romance lesson. So i know that the conceptt of the friend zone is kind of like heavily clowned on atp bc of guys who get into a friendship with a girl and go Oh noooo im in the friend zone booo why cant i get any pussy😡😡😡 but honestly IT IS REAKL in a sense... Like with friends especially best friends i feel like after a certain point in the friendship youre either crazy in love with them and totally screwed or if things continue as they are you could never see them that way ever. idek exactly when it is all i know is that its there. But also heavy emphasis on the if things continue as they are part cuz if ur the former and ur best friend is the latter thus putting you in that sort of friend zone genuinely the only way out of it is to just SNAP OUT somehow im not explaining well at all i sound like a girlboss tiktoker whos like If u dont snap him back for 3 hours on the dot u will make him obsessed with ur manifestation mind powers😈 but i swear i have a point. BC why do u think there are so many movies where someone gets in a life or death scenario or almost moves away or gets with someone else and THEN the love interest realizes they want them. i very strongly believe that everyone has at least a couple of people who if they really thought about them and their friendship they would fall for BC possibly the absolute crazy-insanest ive ever been was over one of my best friends who i knew i would never have feelings for like id thought about it and everything but i just knew it would never happen. until his birthday came up and i was writing him a rlly long letter thanking him for being my friend and talking abt how awesome he was in ways i had never rlly put into words even in my head Like i was writing "youre so this and that" and then i was like "wait actually he kind of IS so this and that..." and then i went crazy. Like i even went crayz on the paper i started word vomitting about every good quality he has cuz it was like a revelation i shouldve taken a picture of it so i could look at it and get grossed out. But im currently in that zone with him RN and i cant fake a life or death scenario or get a job offer in another country or get bitches or make him write me a letter and its just UGHHHHHHH. BC my hypothetical advice to anyone in this situation would probably be to distance yourself a little because lots of times people dont think about things they have until theyre gone Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that. But its like why would i do that hes my friend i like talking to him. so its like Well. the romance lesson is dont be in my situation which is the moral of the whole blog

How about your Atlas and Jack for *whispers* alllll the questionnnns!! >:3c
*wheeze*
i hope you dont mind but i ended up taking some of the questions/answers out simply because they were my answers were boring/irrelevent (and i was really starting to lose steam at the end there). i answered the rest of them with as much detail as i could, though.
what is each members love language?
atlas love language is definitely "physical touch", which is interesting because he comes across as extremely charismatic when he wants to be. i think, while he understands how useful words can be, he doesnt put much stock into them himself; ive said this before but hes very much a 'punch first, ask questions later' kind of guy. atlas is usually the one to initiate any sort of physical contact between him and anyone else.
jacks a little trickier, but id probably peg him as either "acts of service" or "quality time". if he likes a person, he makes a point to make himself useful to them. that, or he just… hangs around them and attempts to make conversation. how well that works depends on where his attention lies.
what would they describe as a perfect date?
neither of them are difficult to please. jacks standards for romance are rock-bottom; hes able to be swept away by just about anything. however, he doesnt care much for fancy dinners or anything expensive (in fact he considers that kind of thing to be rather thoughtless, and who can blame him?).
atlas is a little more specific but just as low-key. a glass of whiskey; a roll in the hay. he isnt particularly fussy.
i will say that neither of them (and this is more-so me projecting) are that into the idea of dating. they go about their daily lives, stealing kisses and loving fiercely, and thats more than enough for them both.
who made the first move?
atlas, and with dishonest intention. jack wasnt meant to be anything more than a pawn in raptures inevitable civil war; atlas was planning on buttering him up enough so that the common man would have at least one high-class idiot on their side. the fact that said high-class idiot just so happened to be "the prince of rapture" was just icing on the cake.
atlas took advantage of jacks listlessness and apathy and ended up falling for him like an absolute lovestruck moron. jack knows this, of course, but he doesnt blame atlas. after all, he might have done the same if it meant the possibility of a better future.
who is more sentimental?
initially i would say both, but ultimately i think atlas may be the bigger sap, if only for the immense guilt he carries.
jack, after regaining his memories and thinking atlas dead, resolved to finally find his sense of self as a savior and caretaker for his newly-adopted daughters, and had purpose to help him through his (unwarranted) grief. he has learnt how to persevere despite adversity and to not dwell too much on things he cannot change.
atlas, on the other hand, was stuck in persephone for a long while with nothing but his own thoughts for company, and thus had plenty of time to accumulate the biggest guilty conscious known to man. he knows that, had things not gone the way they did, both of them would probably be long dead, but he cant help but sometimes imagine what might have been if rapture wasnt as cruel as it was.
which one calls the other to kill the spiders?
these two have faced down super-powered zombies on crack. spiders are nothing.
who falls asleep first?
whoever couldnt sleep the night before.
who wakes up first?
whoever gets sick of their own thoughts the fastest, so atlas (usually).
who is more relaxed/carefree?
jack is generally a lot more chill (not necessarily forgiving); atlas has a much shorter fuse.
what is one way their personalities compliment each other (is it opposites attract or are they pretty similar)?
atlas is loud and aggressive and viscous while jack is cool and collected and frosty. jack is probably the only person on the planet that could insult atlas and have the latter take it seriously, because he knows how honest to a fault his boy is and much he means every word he says.
jack is so used to fending for his own emotional and physical satisfaction that it was initially overwhelming that someone wanted to provide, for once.
who is always cold?
they both run pretty warm! (summer with no ac is an actual sodding nightmare for these two).
which member is always trying to bring home stray animals and which member always has to say no?
this really isnt answering the question directly, but i can provide something similar -- jack is actually the "bad cop" parent. atlas is way easier for the girls to manipulate.
who worries more?
they both worry immensely about each other and their daughters and the future but since they dont want the other to worry even more than they already are (and because neither of them are great at communication) a lot of things get left unsaid out of consideration.
what are some non-sexual activities they do together?
sleep. they love sleeping together. after being so violently separated and after experiencing so much intense pain and grief, the only thing they can do to force themselves to remember the other and their surroundings are real is via physical touch. at this point its almost impossible for one to comfortably fall asleep without the other.
who would be able to talk their way out of a speeding ticket?
jack, probably. atlas would probably just get really pissed off and possibly get a second ticket for verbally berating an officer of the law.
who is the better cook?
theyre probably about the same, which is "passable, if youre close to starvation".
what are some things they dont agree on?
whos fault it was (newsflash: it was no-ones fault). they talk in circles about taking blame, and then as soon as they think theyve reached a conclusion the argument will start anew.
which member is more physically affectionate?
atlas!
which member is more verbally affectionate?
theyre probably about the same.
how does each member feel about pda?
i mean this is the 1960s, so… theyve simply gotten used to saving that stuff for when theyre away from prying eyes.
whos the safer driver?
jack!
whats each members flirting style?
their styles violently switch between "shut up" / "make me" and approaching each other in an extremely gentle and genuine way. they know how to read a room well enough to figure out if its going to be one or the other.
which member steals borrows the other ones clothing?
uhhh atlas has probably stolen a couple of jacks sweaters once or twice, but i dont think its something they make a habit out of.
are they an introverted or an extroverted couple?
introverted by a huge margin.
who is the big/little spoon?
they take turns, although usually it ends up looking more like a crazy straw or a pretzel situation.
who is more likely to make an impulsive decision and who is the voice of reason?
despite his short temper, atlas isnt stupid by any means. theyre both pretty well thought-out and reasonable in the grand scheme of things.
who is more likely to get jealous?
oh, atlas. 100%. and you can see it too, clear as day (hes very bad at hiding strong emotions). hell cross his arms and glare and and sulk while he struggles not to interrupt whatever conversation jack has going on and whisk him away to inevitably drive him up against a wall and make himself feel better.
what was the most surprising thing they found out about each other when they started seeing each more seriously?
atlas often forgets that jack was born into a much higher socio-economic class than he was. jack has a "rich boy" switch he very seldom uses (atlas saw it for the first time when they joined forces with sinclair and delta); he becomes cold and calulating and downright dangerous. atlas is both frightened and turned on a little by this.
jack was intrigued by just how soft atlas could get in comparison. atlas is a man made up of emotions, and compassion is absolutely one of them.
who stays up way too late and who drags them to bed?
atlas is the worse sleeper of the two.
whos messier?
honestly theyre both pretty untidy but jacks a bit better if he actually maks an effort to be. atlas just does not care.
who wanted / would want kids first?
given the events of the au that i use, neither of them had much of a choice concerning that. it wasnt like jack was going to leave the sisters behind, and atlas understood almost immediately that jack and the girls were now a packge deal.
who fell in love first?
jack did. jack fell hard, because he was so lonely. if he was going to spend the rest of his days living in someones shadow, then hed rather do so with someone who loved him back (or at least pretended to) than with someone who didnt care at all.
atlas was quick to follow though. he was unintentionally wooed by jacks earnest honesty and just by the fact that he loved him and loved him so deeply. atlas just couldnt help himself; how could he say no to that face?

i had a debate in my history class but i thought id say it somewhere where people may have opinions on it (but wont call me slurs)(thanks twitter X)
i don’t believe high school relationships tend to last. statistically, they don’t. so, that being said, i go into them expecting that they won’t. my friends opinion on that is that it is “irresponsible and immature” and that if i hold that mindset i shouldn’t be in a relationship because i won’t put in any effort because i believe it won’t last (so why put anything in anyways)
i don’t think those things correlate the same way - i can put in a lot of effort, despite knowing that it probably won’t last. its kind of like living, in that we all know that we will die eventually but we live despite the inevitability of death. whos to say that my love is not in spite of the fact that it may end?
high school relationships don’t tend to last, but that doesn’t mean i won’t care like its forever. its kind of defence, in that i can prepare myself for it ending so i don’t get hurt as badly if it does.
i was rambling, my bad, but i am curious to see if anyone else shares this mindset or if i am in fact a terrible defeatist person (its probably the latter but who cares)

i dont know what it says about me that i expect it all to hurt. you know? getting better. talking about things. not talking about things.
maybe hurt is the wrong word. maybe hurt is too dramatic. im not always expecting pain its just- discomfort. im not expecting devastating or world ending pain i just. i just. things are going to suck for a bit, thats fine, right. things can always suck a bit. things are good too, right, its not like a never ending slog of. pain or discomfort or.
i dont know who in justifying myself to. theres no one else here. i am preempting something and i dont know what.
im reading these title cards for therapists and i dont . i dont know. i dont even know how to conceptualize talking to people. i havent even planned what im going to say. i dont really know what to do and i know i dont need to, to carry through with this but im. im looking at these stupid goddamn profiles and feeling like an idiot. Theyre talking about embracing strength and finding light and it sounds- stupid. i know its not intended to be patronizing or. its not like theyre lying or anything, these are carefully chosen words and.
christ. im so tired. i havent done anything and im. tired.
Im going to go tell someone about my problems and theyre either going to tell me its not that big a deal, really, or theyre going to. i dont know. freak out. tell me i need to. quit. or stop. or . do something big and visible and. i want more than anything to solve this silently. in an ideal world i fix this without anyone knowing. in an ideal world i fall apart and put myself together in the dark where its just me and maybe this trained professional and i get to lie to everyone in my life.
in an. ideal world.
i know the- solution is a symptom, probably, that this desire to lie first and fix second is a bad sign. but i just. i would love to be able to do that. i gwt it. i get it. i always fucking get it. but i want to, do you understand. id love to.
its just me. losing my fucking mind. i know that. its always more embarassing to have other people see it. its always been better to do it silently and come back than have someone hold my hand and then try to break it to me later that i was unwell. i know. i know. i know. you dont need to tell me i was being irrational. i promise you. ive thought about it.
people who love me try to help and i worry i always end up hating them more for it. people try to get to know me and it becomes an arms race between how badly id like to know them and how quickly i can construct a lie they might find acceptable.
i lie to people and then when i get tired of lying, things fall apart. self fulfilling prophecy, or maybe just poor communication.
i think about breaking down and i think about people seeing it and i go. embarassing. embarassing. humiliating. there is no catharsis i imagine that is worth the shame after. what does that say about me. what does that say about the people around me.
no one hates me more than i hate myself, probably. at what point does that get dangerous. at what point does that get frustrating. for others.
my own happiness feels like a lost cause, a lot of the time. unreliable emotions. irrational thinking. putting up guardrails like bumpers for bowling, slamming into them as my mind dissolves. this doesnt matter. none of it does.
i watched my mom jump from thought to thought to thought on an awful day in a bad spiral and thought. oh this feels familiar. this feels familiar.
its all so much work to end back up in the same place. its fine. its awful. it doesnt matter. it doesnt matter or it all does, and if its the latter i dont know how to deal.
Im so tired. all of this is just self indulgence. this isnt helping.
sliding. away. its fine. i wrap the rope twice around my hands and pull back. there is something wrong here.
id prefer not to think about it.

just some classic oversharing in the form of a bullet point list
fun facts about me
when i was like 11 or something my art got featured in a cringe compilation
i was in mormon boy scouts
both of my siblings are also trans
i was so bad at school that they sent me to another one that had crisis lines on the back of our ids
my first fanfiction was either wings of fire or warrior cats
i have on three separate occasions attempted to write a fic alongside another person which intersected.
none of these fics included a single canon character
none of them were completed, but the one i was most serious about had my partner abandon their side first. i wrote 23,510 words across the original and a rewrite, as well as detailed character bios with math as to each character and their abilities. because they were all ocs. every single one.
i have tried to get into game design but always gave up to quickly. i would draw map and ui plans on schoolwork though
i have livestreamed twice. once was undertale on youtube when i was like 14, and once was little witch nobeta on twitch. the latter contained in-depth criticism of capitalism to an audience of zero. probably for the best as my laptop is trash and the recording was choppy af
in seventh grade i wrote an undertale x hunger games fanfiction as a school assignment. look idk either. i think it was my first time writing for canon characters
i also wrote warrior cats fanfic (original characters, original clans, etc.) as a school assignment but i don't think it had to be fanfiction that time.
i have an unfinished 17k word original work set in a post-climate change society where serial killers are basically celebrities.
my biggest work is a 53,729 word original story
i actually have a lot of original stuff. a fair amount of it is horror or has horror elements.
a line i wrote for a fanfic a long time ago was so visceral and graphic that to this day my older sibling refuses to read my writing. it was just a character shooting another upwards through the chin but i'll admit the way i described it was a bit much. i haven't written anything on that level since.
oh right the "all ocs" thing wasn't true for one of the warriors fics. i briefly wrote scourge because i gave him fankids. and a mate.
okay let's just go over some of my original stories
androids
lawyers
chaos dimension
magical girls but gay and also they fight god and eventually blow up the world tree and its actually a lot more convoluted than i can put succinctly.
the grim reaper retires and chooses a dead kid to take his place. more of an episodic thing.
a girl who can't feel pain
a story you can tell was written out of frustration after reading the (garbage) be more chill book. it has a high school guy that immediately gets rejected at the beginning.
angel and demon try to kill each other (mt only romance thing)
submarine goes into an underwater labyrinth and a lot of people die
literally almost all the characters in these are queer. idk anyway back to me.
my first "relationship" ended in a couple days because i thought they deserved better. she was later found out to be faking being in a band and selling other people's music and it was a whole thing. for those two reasons combined i don't really count it.
i have 4 albums of music from sonic on my phone, with album art and everything, adding up to 265 tracks. they are all ripped from youtube.
i've been sent to grippy sock jail three times, but only made to stay once. during this time i read most of the ultimate hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.
when i was a kid i had a deviantart where i posted some of my earliest art. i had a riolu oc and constantly drew riolu and lucario. this is because i got riolu as my character in pokémon mystery dungeon 2.
i used to be known as "best sass cheld." now i am simply an uninteresting 19 y/o adult.
i own a demon horn headband
i used to use "rose" as a stand-in last name on the internet. i stopped using it as the name had too much baggage attached.
the great gatsby sucked. that's not really a fun fact but it's been a year or so and i'm still thinking about how terrible that book is.
when i was 14-ish i had a health teacher that blasted heavy metal music before class
i took a full year-long break from social media when i was 17 and a couple months into 18
i would list some stuff from deviantart but it's not really stuff i wanna share
i would also list stuff from twitter but i can't remember the vast majority of it.
i can't think of anything else but that's already a lot more than i thought i'd be able to remember
well i can think of some stuff but they're either personal or identifiable so that's that

One time, i thought of writing a helpful guide on how people could get into Doom, even if it's flawed but i think someone else could build upon this.
There's probably some errors and missing stuff but i thought it should be big enough for someone to get clear information. Some stuff could be suggested (What else to explore about the series and its history, some technical stuff, gameplay pro tips, stuff about settings, intructions, certain ports/source ports/versions being mentioned, differences between those etc) so if possible, feel free to modify it.
It starts here/below:
Here's some instructions manuals from the originals if you're interested in even the otherwise, not important story.
http://www.wolfensteingoodies.com/archives/olddoom/home.htm (CTRL + F and search for "Original Doom Manuals")
Also, if you want to get into the games, here's some info:
The classic Collection/Bundle on Steam or GOG has Ultimate Doom (First game with an additional fourth episode), Doom 2 (Which has the Master Levels) and Final Doom (Two 32 maps episodes, which are a bit more difficult and not as enjoyed as the main two games) (I also think it's the GOG version that has a fix for a problem with TNT's map 31).
(As of editing this, in August 2022 id changed some of their games' listings, so this classic bundle mixes up the original version of 1/2/3 with their Unity/BFG versions and even include Doom 64 in, so expect some info here to be outdated).
Most people play Doom with source ports and there's a lot of them for Doom games.
Chocolate Doom is the most faithfull one, while Crispy Doom is like a slighty "friendlier" version of Choco offering some options.
PrBoom and PrBoom+ work as vanilla source ports with some additions. I think the latter can play maps that are still vanilla but have lots of enemies if i'm right (There's also better demo support i believe).
Forks like DSDA-Doom https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/118074-dsda-doom-source-port-v0150/ and MBF https://doomwiki.org/wiki/MBF are based on the Boom lineage of ports and have their own features and changes too.
GZDoom is for gameplay mods, advanced modding projects and has a lot of settings and features. It's more advanced than other source ports but it's not as faithfull (Either due to some default settings or outright changes), some of its default settings are kinda bad (You can change them if you can browse the options menus) and can be a bit heavy on certain hardware (Which means PrBoom+ can handle huge maps better, if i got that right).
Some mods may require later/previous/specific versions of GZDoom or even the now abandoned ZDoom.
The Eternity Engine https://doomwiki.org/wiki/Eternity_Engine has some features similar to the ZDoom family and while not as popular, it is home to some very good maps.
Zandronum is also mod focused but for multiplayer.
Odamex is another MP source port and this one seems to be vanilla focused.
ZDL is a launcher that allows you to set up orders for which content you want to play (Such as a mapset, then one or two gameplay mods after it). Normally, you put the maps/wads before the gameplay changing stuff, while selecting a specific IWAD, that the map/mapset/wad is made for (Other launchers exist too and some could be better).
IWADS (As in, the games themselves like Doom 1, 2 etc) should be in the same folder as your chosen source port but source ports themselves should be on seperate folders. (Which means you may have to copy+paste the IWADS into each seperate folder) (There may be a better alternative to this)
To find the IWAD files, this should help (credit to Thathomestar) https://i.imgur.com/7fe8XmB.png
Tumblr media
To get mods or wads, you can check sites like Doomworld's idgames, ZDoom forums, ModDb or maybe simply google mod related stuff and see if a forum thread or video description have a download link. Doom modding/mapping is big enough that there's a lot of places to get that content. Even Realm667 posts about latest mod/map releases at times.
There's also YT channels dedicated to Doom mod stuff and even Tumblr/Wordpress blogs and Twitter accounts.
Doom 64 had its own source port (Which was Doom 64 EX, but it required a Nintendo 64 ROM of the game) and there's the official port from the same guy behind Doom 64 EX which seems to be more advanced and include new levels.
There was a PS1 Doom port that was amazing despite its differences from the pc version and it has a TC (From fenderc01 i think) that you can play on pc.
SIGIL is a 5th episode from John Romero himself and it's set after Thy Flesh Consumed, so it's also hard like that episode. It's also free but you can also order some tracks from Buckethead and a box or something.
If you want to play Doom 3 (And its expansion Resurrection of Evil), you could see the original game and its expansion and mix them with the duct tape mod, if you're worried about the changes in the BFG edition.
Doom 2016 is great for a modern shooter and if your PC is good enough it'll perform great and while most of the praise centers around the single player, you may have different opinions on the multiplayer and SnapMap.
Its sequel, Doom Eternal, builds up on the formula and could be harder, but more exciting, while its multiplayer BattleMode could be a bit more niche in comparison to the singleplayer.
Opinions over The Ancient Gods expansions can very, based on gameplay or story, but there are things there to like.
DE also has some better mod support than 2016.
Speaking of info, the wiki i linked to you above is what most fans use instead of the Fandom version.
Doom also had mobile spin-offs such as the RPG series and Resurrection but most of these are hard to find, have little documentation and require emulation, even if there's reverse engineering projects for them.
Though D1RPG has a fanmade PC port that is really good https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/129997-doom-rpg-port-reverse-engineering/
There's also a recent D2RPG fan port https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/135602
I tried to add as much info as possible and someone once made a Doom guide, so i hope this one guide i found can work too.
(It's also something i used as reference/copied from if the imgur link with the IWAD images means anything)
Also, here's this for some gameplay tips.
youtube
youtube
And someone on YT called Decino made videos about Doom's gameplay and it should help you.
There's also this thing about mods to play before Eternal came out wich is obviously old now:
https://old.reddit.com/r/Doom/comments/cezqa4/mods_to_play_before_doom_eternal/ and
Ends here.
If there's something else worth adding, then suggest some ideas.
