Okay I have to say aside from simply finding a haunted B&B setting starring my best friend underrated treasure Rose McIver to be a charming & fun setting for a sit com —

things I love about Ghosts

- the unexpected & unique dynamics!!! the Viking warrior is best friends with the American revolution soldier & they watch ‘90s tv together. the dorky Boy Scout troop leader with an arrow through his neck has a huge crush on the diva Harlem jazz singer who died in the 20s. the hippie free spirit teaches the repressed Victorian lady of the house about female sexual pleasure. It’s all endlessly iconic & surprisingly heartfelt for how bizarre some of it gets like the ghost who haunted one of his now adult ghost friends as a child & sang her lullabies but now they’re peers.

- the relationship between Jay & Sam! I ADORE me a good malewife x somewhat off her rocker chick dynamic. not since Joel & Sheila of the cancelled too soon genius Santa Clarita Diet have I this much adored a sit com married couple. the way Jay is endlessly supportive of Sam & her ghosts & their adorable dynamic because they are husband & wife but also they are best friends - is just so cute.

-it’s funny but it never punches down. all of the characters are (so far I’m on season 2) pretty wild & they each get some episodes focusing on their backstory. from the Native American storyteller to the quirky cholera ghost who faked a relationship with the Boy Scout troop leader (long story) to the girl who was murder with a chainsaw on prom night. It’s goofy as hell but each of these hilarious characters still feels very much like a three dimensional person in a way you just don’t get with every show. I also enjoy that so far there’s not a butt of the joke character in an over the top way. This is something that turns me off shows & it happens a lot in sit coms: the Meg Griffin effect. That doesn’t happen on this show! Sure, Trevor is the butt of a lot of jokes because he’s kind of a douche & he has no pants but the episode where you learn his backstory is actually so good & shows what good friends the ghosts really all are.

Anyway!!! I’m only on season 2 but I love this show so far that is all 🫶

At Long Last I Have Created Penny's Moodboard!!

Little backstory about how I came up with Penny.

I've had this idea of a supernatural disc jockey rolling around in my head for years and originally I was making my own Icon OC for HHN (Halloween Horror Nights for those of you who are uninitiated.)

This is how she came about, switching from Werewolf to Zombie. She lived in the same town as all the other Icons dwelled: Carey, Ohio.

She just came back to life somehow and feasted on the normal people who lived in town and played the radio starting from sundown to sunrise.

Basically that's Penny now. Except the location has changed and the rules for her rezzing are different. Originally I had her playing guitar and whatnot. I might still add that to her character. But moving on to her inspo's before I ramble.

•Stretch as played by Caroline Williams (TCM 2) (her job and livelihood)

•Liv as played by Rose McIver (iZombie) (how she obtains her ability to do her job was by eating the brains of her former coworkers)

•Gamzee Makara from Homestuck (her height, stoner-ness and what she's like when sober)

• The Forsaken Race, Designation: Horde (WoW) (her looks and overall appearance)

My love of Rockabilly and Psychobilly also added to her character as it's a genre of music close to her heart.

Penny, like myself has a collection of Patches and Pins she likes to add to her clothing.

Penny has decided that when she gets raised from the dead she just goes back to doing what she's always done. But, with a twist.

Some notes:

Longest season, insane amount of outfits.

Season 2 wigs were the best, because they left Liv's side down fully (and that helped to "blend" the wig).

The iconic three pocket jeans appear for the first time. It gives a simple, functional, comfortable look that has a lot of combinations. I just love the three pocket jeans. Such a pity it will dissapear mid season 3.

I love Bro!Liv crime scene dress. It's such a good Halloween costume.

All outfits worn on 2x03 (Seattle's housewife) are a #look. It's also the first time she stilized her zombie hair.

I also dig a lot the Country Singer, for some reason.

Liv's ID on 2x03 is clearly fake. Noone looks that good on an ID.

Probably this is the only actual show in which sexting are used for tasteful reasons and not for revenge. Nice.

The magician's looks (2x07) are among my favourites.

The blue/black leather jacket was cute. Never seen of a leather jacket like this one.

It's no wonder why Major freaked out while watching Liv performing an ouija scene.

Liv should have roamed the city with her superhero costume more.

Liv + Christmas hat. Awww.

The Fifty Shades of Grey episode (2x11) was a gem to watch little details of the character's costumes. Also, nice looks Liv.

Rose McIver's ass because reasons.

You can spot when is really winter in Vancouver Seattle because of the clothes and the actors' breath in exteriors.

Liv in flannel because she was dating Drake. LOL.

The reddish shirt has a sparkly butterfly in her back. Awww.

I loved the blue/black stripped shirt with a black top underneath. Punk vibes.

Scientist!Liv with glasses kinda look like the protagonist of a porn movie. LOL. Also she was ditched in a place called Heave Ho's.

Liv's wears a blue nightgown with matching slippers. LOL.

Stripper!Liv was also the best and lives rent free in my mind.

Liv wears the same dress for Coach!Liv and HighAchieverStudent!Liv but with different shirts. I remark this one because is one of the most distinctive dresses of the show.

Liv is the cutest SWAT ever. She can tackle me anytime.

‘Back to the Future,’ ‘Stranger Things Q&As Headline Programming at FAN EXPO Philadelphia
