I saw a post on the Bleach subreddit which asked about which parts of the series people found most disappointing. And a lot of people there obviously said Chad, and I agree - But I want to be more specific. Chad in the Lost Agent arc is some of the most blatant missed potential I've ever seen.

I think its pretty easy to infer that each of Bleach's five arcs focuses on one of its five originally-introduced main characters. This is something my librarian-coded brain adores!! Our lineup, as introduced in Substitute Shinigami, is Ichigo, Rukia, Orihime, Chad and Uryu (Renji gets added to that group later, but ignore that for now). The first two are pretty obvious - Substitute Shinigami introduces us to Ichigo's character and his moral code, what he fights for, what potential he has. Rukia, or more specifically the Shinigami as a whole, are of course the focus of the Soul Society arc - even though she's trapped in a cell for lots of it, characters like Renji, Ganju and Byakuya specifically serve to explore the different sides of her character. Both her and Ichigo are of course important throughout Bleach in its entirety, but these two first arcs put them and their relationships with those close to them in the focus far more than atany point later in the series.

Arrancar arc and TYBW are pretty self-explanatorily Orihime and Uryu-focused, if arguably a bit misguided with TYBW in particular. Even though, again, Orihime spends most of Arrancar stuck in a cell, she shows tremendous growth and maturity, and the entire arc's theming of what it means to have a heart is centered entirely on her. And Uyru...well, Uryu is the center of the conflict in TYBW, despite it definitely feeling underwritten in the Manga. I think thats mainly a result of its rushed pacing by the back half though, and it seems to be getting resolved with the adaptation now. So I'll hold off on Uryu for now - his treatment is salvageable and if nothing else he's always gotten at least one golden moment to shine in all other arcs.

That only leaves Chad and Lost Agent - a perfect fit for one another, and something Kubo himself was pretty clearly going for at the start. Its Chad's disappearance that instigates the drama, he's there with Xcution to help Ichigo regain his powers, and the existence of Fullbring in general elegantly explains where Chad's powers came from in a way that's true to his character (the "pride in the color of my skin" line is still one of his best character moments imo). It is, effectively, an arc built entirely around answering the questions Chad himself asked about his powers back in the Arrancar arc.

And then...nothing. He explains his powers, helps Ichigo, he trains to get stronger in a video game, and...then falls under Tsukishima's mind powers and gets knocked unconscious. Only for the Soul Reapers to show up and do all the fighting again - even characters like Byakuya and Kenpachi, who clearly don't have any material for growth when pit against the Fullbringers, show up just to clean house. To me it reeks of Kubo deciding to include fan-favorite characters toward the end of the arc just to make people happier with it, since Lost Agent in general was so divisive. Though it was obviously earned for Rukia to return in order to give Ichigo his powers back, having everyone else also show up to do the work of other characters for them felt kind of like a slap in the face.

It feels so obvious in hindsight, but Chad and Tsukishima would have been a borderline perfect matchup for a fight to move the arc to a satisfying conclusion. Out of the entire core cast, Chad is the one who feels most motivated by his past to act - he remembers his Abuelo's words, he remembers his times in turmoil with Ichigo, he remembers just how hard he's had it in life and fights to make sure nobody else has to suffer like him. Pitting him against the character able to alter memories would've been a genuinely fantastic challenge of character, and would've made for the most satisfying Chad victory the series could've pulled. Even though Tsukishima isn't Bleach's strongest villain, he's certainly one of its scariest and most potentially dangerous, and Chad's entire personality and design is built around protecting others from such harm.

Instead, Kubo just kind of... procrastinated with Chad, always hinting at more to come, hoping maybe anotber matchup as good as Tsukishima would roll around eventually. Only for him to still gst nothing to do for all of TYBW, and his send-off being to fight some stone statues off-screen.

It's such a shame, imagining what could've been, and remembering just how damn cool Chad is when he actually gets to play with the cool kids.

Episode 23 Thoughts

I’m crying, but I knew I would be, because this was The One With All The Deaths.

I love that the battle matchups were the same as the opening. Nice use of foreshadowing there.

Even though Mint’s had a different name, and the other girls didn’t say names at all, I’m still pretty sure those were the Re-Turn attacks. In particular,Zakuro restraining the chimera anima looked a lot like this panel.

Tarpurin and Zakumint shippers continue to win.

I liked the montage of the Mews’ friends and families watching them (and I think Ichigo’s mom suspects the truth).

Six Hearts vs Fullbringers: Renji vs. Moe

This matchup, I think, works a heck of a lot better at accomplishing the goals of the original fights that these two were involved in.

I took Renji’s battle against Jackie to be an attempt to demonstrate how out of their depth the Fullbringers are against the decades of experience and professionalism possessed by the Soul Reapers. Renji doesn’t just beat Jackie, he’s super condescending to her, beats her without ever really being threatened, and then even overrules her attempts to help him get out of the dimension they’re trapped in. But it all comes off with a pretty bad taste thanks to the bizarre chauvinism he demonstrates throughout the fight.

Meanwhile, Moe’s battle with Ikkaku hits some similar notes, but plays them a lot better. Sure, he’s a momentary threat to Ikkaku, but Ikkaku quickly powers through, and demonstrates that he’s got way more depth to him than Moe does. His weapon gets broken? Fine, he’ll power up and beat Moe in a fistfight. And then he gives him a great talking-to about how relationships-- especially those you put your life on the line for-- need to be reciprocal. It’s great, except that this is all showcasing character development for Ikkaku that we didn’t see-- he’s very clearly grown as a person in the last 18 months, but we haven’t been around to see it.

But you know whose development we have seen? Renji! He’s Ikkaku’s old protege, so he hits a lot of the same notes as concerns the virtues of hard work (or, making your own luck) and persistence. But the difference is that we saw Renji grow as a person. Back when he first appeared, he really was willing to sacrifice his life for a captain who would not have done the same for him. But he eventually figured out his values (in a killer on-panel fight scene with Ichigo), then he earned his captain’s respect (in another killer on-panel fight scene), and finally he and his captain came to an understanding about what they would both sacrifice their lives for (Rukia, and again, we saw this). So this message coming from Renji would hit a lot harder!

Not to mention fighting Moe would get all the weird chauvinism out of the story. And while you could still see him be condescending here, I think it would fit a lot better? After all, Renji acted awfully superior to Ichigo when they first fought, and Moe is the exact same age Ichigo was at the time.

And last but not least, the fight would be pretty compelling visually too. Zabimaru has loads of joints that Moe’s Lucky Knuckles can bust up, giving Renji the chance to fistfight him while he delivers his message. And then at the end...whoops, he still has Higa Zekko. I don’t see him using it all the way against Moe-- the psychological impact of just initiating it, combined with him winning the verbal argument, should be enough to get Moe to surrender. But I like the idea of that power being useful for once.

BLEACH TYBW ep 25: Well, it was nice while it lasted

What an episode. We're riding high and feeling alive; then, next thing we know, we're watching as our childhood stuffed animal is set on fire right before us. This is all hyperbole, of course, but I still feel it's a very accurate metaphor. This episode is a good episode, but it comes at a point in the story where we have to set up the insurmountable odds our true protagonist has to face in order to save the day. The downside is is that while we get to enjoy the thrills and highs of a brand new fight that seeks to make amends for a fight that was originally quite lackluster, we also have to now deal with the true ending of that fight which unfortunately cannot change and only now serves as a punch to the gut after seeing something that I feel appeased nearly all of us. So, as the title says, it was nice while it lasted. Still, great moments for the characters and an especially vicious and somewhat haunting usage of a technique that we've heard about but never gotten to see. Plus, we all now know why you don't mess with the eyeball monk.

So now to do a death tally and wait for next we-...what do you mean the next episode is out already? Wait, WHAT HAPPENS?! Soul king I need to pay attention more!

Things I liked:

We get to see the remaining visored again as well as Yoruichi's brother! But we also get to be reminded of Kisuke's habit of sending sacrificial pawns to buy time for him to figure out solutions. What can I say, even after a hundred years, old habits die hard.

Whenever Ichibe draws anything with his brush I always like the effect of following the brush stroke. It makes it feel more supernatural

Ywach is such a hardcore fighter, it really is a perfect matchup between him and Ichibe. One is willing to humiliate the enemy by any means while still beating them down, the other will risk deadly injury just to negate the humiliation. Absolute refusal to give an edge to both sides.

A return of sanct bogen! Although this one doesn't serve as a sword delivery device

Ichibe's eyeless moment is straight from the Manga. It is perfect and really fits the name thing he has been doing this episode (this is why I've been bolding his name btw, gotta show respect)

It's very subtle but I love Haschwalths ability just ruining everything for everyone else. It will really be great to have it explained eventually.

I think this is a great episode for Uryu because we get to see Chad, Orihime and Ichigo's power ups, but with this we see Uryu hasn't been slacking either. Also I want to thank @takibikaen for the comment on how Ywach got out of the cage. Uryu's antithesis just straight up teleports now and him dodging Tenjiro's water ball kinda proves it.

If I could have a wacky spin-off show with just Nimaya and Askin, I would be the happiest man alive. They're roommates in San Francisco and they hate each other. Boom, instant hit. But seriously, with a ton of comedic moments cut, these two provide a great amount of levity to the situation.

Aizen did the slut strand look first, but I'm willing to bet that Askin stole it and made it his. Man earned it this episode

Senjumaru is the QUEEN this episode. Has been clowning on everyone for two episodes now, if she does it in the next one, she's my new favorite (edit here: she did and she is now)

This whole fight really is a battle of overpowered ability versus overpowered ability.

Askin and Nimaya are the kids who would role-playing sword fights on the playground to try and compete on looking cooler and you cannot change my mind.

Aushwhalen is way more brutal than I thought it would be. Also it shows that Ywach never explained what it was to his army, just waving it off as just a purging of unworthy Quincy. But then when the unworthy are gone, who is picked to full their spots?

Giselle is creepy as hell in this episode. I hope her fans are enjoying themselves. I mean that legitimately

It was nice to see Bazz B and Liltotto reacting the same to the betrayl. It's a nice setup to their switching sides

PERNIDA'S LITTLE HAND WINGS!

UKITAKE IS BACK!! And oh no he brought a friends with him ✋️

Things I didn't like:

I feel like if they were going to introduce Yuishiro so soon, we should have gotten to see him sooner, especially since we've got one episode left of the season. It's a bit abrupt but it's nice to see him at least, let's hope he gets some love later on

I thought it was Weird how Ichibe was bleeding from his coat when he dredge Ywach's arrow. The first thing I thought was that maybe he's so ancient that his body doesn't function the same way that a more modern Souls body would. I'm probably overthinking it, but it does make me wonder

I still think we don't get to see what Kinpika really does beyond glow. Granted if I had to fight someone with a sword and someone was on the side shining a flashlight in my eyes the whole time, I would find that pretty distracting too. Not every sword gets to be super powerful

I did not expect to see Giselle like that today. Not a bad thing, but dang I was expecting her to just eat the blood from her guts, not-im gonna stop there. Also there were claims of her possibly being romantically and or amorously entangled with the otherwise alive, I don't think that it's a possibly anymore, I think it's an actually. Glad Liltotto is my favorite especially since they're the only two left. Cannibal or Zombie lover, starting to remember why I didn't like the Bambi's so much.

They cut the scene of Robert having his meltdown and trying to kill Liltotto. Real shame. Plus we get confirmed that Giselle and Liltotto are the only female sternritter left.

Last thing and this is a silly thing, but with the amount of blood that Giselle was consuming and or covered in, how does she keep the all-white outfit clean? Do Quincy uniforms repel moisture? Or do they just have an unlimited supply of stain remover everywhere?

Needless to say great episode, and now that I know that there is a second episode I have to watch that. So I guess we're getting two this week. Still, seems like it should be a fun one regardless. ( hi Nowen from the future here, just wanted to say I watched the episode and holy s***.)

It will still take me a good deal more time to find or make images for all of these pairings and schedule the polls, so don't expect voting to start up right away. But let's take a look at our contestants anyway!

MY DREAM DEATH BATTLE SEASON

I'm a fan Death Battle, I enjoy the fights, analasys, tje music, etc. And to day I'm going to talk about my dream season of Death Battle, what would I do if I was aloud to have my own Death Battle season. Well let's talk about it.

Episode 1: Captain America vs Kamen Rider Ichigo (Marvel vs Kamen Rider) 2D

I chosed this as my first episode since it was in the Champion Poll and I feel like it would work as the first episode and of course it has a lot of potential to be a pretty fun episode.

Episode 2: Vilgax vs Megatron (Ben 10 Reboot vs Transformers Animated) 2D

If you don't know I made this matchup myself and I talked about it in a post, to put it simply it has a bit more connections than the OG versions, the fight potential is better with both being warriors and strategists with Vilgax having the antitrix, the banter is pretty good along with the music. Overall it has the potential to be a great episode and basically be OGS Vilgax vs G1 Megatron but better.

Episode 3: Hellboy vs Nero (Dark Horse vs Devil May Cry) 3D

This is a matchup that I really like, even though I don't know to much about Nero and even DMC in general I do think it's pretty cool and I love Hellboy I saw the og movies and I love them, in general Hellboy is pretty fun and I would love to see him in Death Battle and the best part is the potential in the analasys, fight, music and of course banter. It's a fun matchup that I can't wait to see whitch is why it's the third episode.

Episode 4: Boros vs Battle Beast (One Punch Man vs Invincible) 2D

I love this matchup, I really like both characters and even some say they don't enough material that's not true, Boros litereally has material for DB and Battle Beast more than enough comics to use. And the fight OH BOY, this would be amazing if I could desgribe it, I would probably say it would be a weird mix between Goku vs Superman 3, Omni Man vs Homelnader and Guts vs Dimitri. That's how amazing it could be and that's not counting the visuals and it's debate than can go eather way.

Episode 5: Palpatine vs Xehanort (Star Wars vs Kingdom Hearts) 3D

It was in the Tournament of Champions and it's great matchup with the banter, fight, analasys and of course the music, This Heartless Empire by Brandon Yates is amazing both series have great soundtracks and a mix between them would be great I mean have you watched Yoda vs King Mikey, it would be basically that but cooler.

Episode 6: Zero vs Meta Knight (Kirby vs Mega Man) 2D

Zero vs Metal Sonic is a bad episode with a pretty bad fight and both analasys were kinda boring, with Zero being one of the characters I want see back and Meta Knight is one of those characters that I would like to see in Death Battle, and this gives me exactly that both are the beat opponents for both and the would be pretty good with both sword users and they also have a lot of abilities that would make this a pretty fun and great fight and the banter would be intersting and the analasys could talk about there stories and where they are now, overall it's a matchup that would be happy to see with a fun fight to booth, whitch why it's in my dream season.

Episode 7: Joker vs Giorno (Persona vs Jojo's Bizzare Adventure) 3D

It's a matchup form what I've heared some people don't want, but for me I would be interested to see it, the debate is really interesting, the fight and music could go of the wall, the analasys could talk about there stories pretty well and there powers and abilities, it's a fun and interesting matchup that could go eather way and a fight that can be interesting and fun.

Episode 8: Infinity Ultron vs Heaven Ascention Dio (Marvel vs Jojo's Bizzare Adventure) 2D

I know it's weird that the next would be another character form the same series and how's also related but I honestly really wanted to be 8th aka finale of the first half since it's a marchup that's interesting with there stories and fight, with being villains who won and gained stronger with new powers, there's so much to talk about where they differ, there powers and story, as for the fight it can great cosmic battle like Galactus vs Unicron and Thans vs Darkseid but good, as for why have this as the finale episode of the first half, it's because I feel like it fited better than the other matchups of the first half, so that's why.

Episode 9: Kratos vs Aura (God of War vs Asura's wrath) 3D

Here we have a matchups that was in the champion poll and tournament and it's also the one that I wanted to happen whitch even though I'm happy what we got I still want to see this, it's pretty great with analasys talking about there stories and motivations and what happened to them ay well as talking abouth there powers, the fight would something like Goku vs Superman 3, Guts vs Dimitri, a fun fight that fan be bloody and insanely cool and the music would be amazing, there's a recent comission track by Brandon and Therewolf and it's good, now as for why I have this matchup as the returning premiere it's because it's perfect for it.

Episode 10: Ego vs Mogo (Marvel vs DC) 2D

Here's the first and only Marvel vs DC matchup in my dream season, it's a interesting fight since there both planets and it could be fun to see how they do it, banter would be great along with the music.

Episode 11: Ghost Rider vs Spawn (Marvel vs Image) 3D

I love Ghost Rider and Spawn, both did appeared in DB with Spawn fighting Kratos and Ghost Rider fighting Lobo, now with the analasys they could talk about something new with both talking about there stories in a new way, as for the fight it would insane with using there demonic powers against each othere and also there chains in unicue ways to try one up the other, it can be a cosmic battle with Spawn becoming God Spawn and Ghost Rider becoming Zerathos, the music would be amazing to hear. And the reason why it's episode 11 is because to prepear for the next episode whitch is also the halloween special.

Episode 12: Sonic.EXE vs RED (Creepypasta) [Halloween special) 2D

Now I know, I know, it's creepypasta matchup but I don't think that it can't happen because of that, both Sonic.EXE and RED are poblic domain and there both popular so I could it happeing, as for why this?

It's because both Sonic.EXE and RED are one of my facorite creepypasta characters, and more importantly the matchup it's self you see both Sonic.EXE and RED are tow iconic creepypasta demons who were created in 2011 and they both a impact and a legacy, Sonic.EXE story and game spawned the EXE games and Sonic.EXE himself is popular even having his own fandom, as for RED his story is what made the NES popular and spawned other Godzilla creepypstas. So yeah that's why I'm having marchup be part of my dream season and the halloween special.

As for the fight it can go insane both are demon who can reality warp and the dincamic would be interesting, Sonic.EXE would be getting most hits in due to being smaller and faster, but RED would be doing the fatal damage and you can pretty cool moments like Sonic.EXE laughing thining he won until notices somethings is of and then behind him is RED in his final form getting his shot at him, now the analasys would be talking about there powers and there goals, but it would talk about there impacts what made them special. Overall Sonic.EXE vs RED can be fun and scary whitch is why it's the halloween special of my dream season.

Episode 13: Luigi vs Pac-Man (Nintendo vs Namco) 2D

Luigi vs Tails is mostly a bad episode it disrespected Luigi by having doing damage to him self while Tails does nothing, so yeah Luigi should return and what better way than to fight Pac-Man, I know some want Luigi to fight Shaggy, I just think Pac-Man works better since it's a battle between gaming's most iconic ghost busters, Luigi's analasis would talk about new stuff like goo Luigi and could give him power ups while Pac-Man's would also talk about jis powers and feats, the fight would be simple but affective with bott countering each other unitl one of them gets the upper hand. Also Luigi vs Pac-Man is one of the matchups along Spawn Rider where it's concidered for halloween, and had this matchup be after my halloween special since it's a goofier one with Spawn Rider being before.

Episode 14: Hulk vs Godzilla (Marvel vs Godzilla) 3D

Hulk's two episode are (in my opinion) good with Godzilla's episode being ok, and how DB's animations are now this would be beautiful and can go to a cosmic scale since there likely using Devil Hulk and giving Godzilla in hell feats along with other stuff, the music would be amazing and powerful, the debate is interesting that can go eatjer way.

Episode 15: Composite Ryu vs Composite Goku (Dragon Ball vs Street Fighter) 3D

If Goku does return for the final time this is they way to do it, I know there some that Goku vs Sonic/Jin Mori, while I do like thos matchups I think this should be how they Goku run on Death Battle, compositing him along with Ryu, the fight would be incredible with both fighting up close and using long range attacks, the music would be epic. As for why it's the episode before the finale it's because it feels like it.

Episode 16: Bowser vs Eggman (Nintendo vs Sega) Season finale 2D

Here we are the finale of my dream season and what better to finish it with my most wanted matchup, I don't think I have to explain it's a legacy matchup that go either as a army battle or with each other, eather way it works, the fight would be a spectacle woth both using the arsenals to one up each other and the finale would using there most powerful forms, this can go in multiple ways, the music would amazing I recommend listening to Hard Boiled Fury by Brandon it's great, and finaly the analasys can talk about new stuff and fixing some mistakes. Overall Bowser vs Eggman has the potential to be one of the best episodes of all time, with the fight that can go in multiple ways and music that you would love to listen twice with two of my favorite vidoe game villains of all time whitch is why it's my most wanted and the finale of my Death Battle season.

MANKAI STAGE Fan Favorite Tournament

Here is our fan-submitted best of MANKAI STAGE tournament! As a reminder, I'm not doing a full MANKAI STAGE tournament because the size of the endeavor is a bit intimidating. But if anybody else decides to host that bracket, please please tag me in it!

I was able to include everybody's submissions, with the exception of some of the full-play songs. This was honestly just a game-time decision of mine, since I felt that the 10-20 minute full-play songs would have a bit of a disadvantage in the tournament.

This is an updated rules post of my blog and what I will and will not write for.

The fandoms I will write for at this moment are One Piece, Bleach, Demon Slayer, and Genshin Impact.

I cannot stress this enough. DO. NOT. SPAM LIKE. While I appreciate the sentiment if that's what it's for, liking does nothing for me as a creator. Reblogs are best.

This blog contains NSFW material. Do not interact with me if you are under the age of 18 or an ageless blog. I'm 25 and do not feel comfortable with this. I will block.

Be polite when requesting. Please and thank you go such a long way, especially because I do this in my free time and I am not obligated to.

I do not write things in the order that they come in. I write if it inspires something so if I don't get to your ask, there's a chance nothing came to me and I apologize for this. Just because something is requested, does not guarantee it will get done .

When requesting, it's okay to be specific, but if something seems too specific such as it could be for a OC, I won't write for it. I'm thinking of opening up commissions and that's where you could request if you want something written for them.

When requesting, don't just put 'Headcanons for Law.' or "Relationship heacanons for Histugaya" Instead, give me something like "Can you please write headcanons for Law when his crush has gotten injured? How do you think he would react in that situation? Thank you!" or "Hi! I'd love to hear how you think Hitsygaya would court his crush! Can I get a scenario like this please? Thank you so much!"

Please limit your asks to around 4 characters for headcanons, and 2 for scenarios and anything NSFW related. Anything over and I either won't respond, or I'll do the first ones you ask for.

I will not write for super dark content or the following such as: rape (can be insinuated but I will not write it explicitly. CNC is fine though), incest--the same goes for sister complex or step step siblings--necro, daddy kinks, scat/piss, or anything involving animals.

I will not write anything for ships, no canon x canon. This is a reader insert blog only. I do not do matchups either.

I will not write ABO.

I do not write for anyone under the age of 18. For Genshin, this includes Bennett, Fischl, Qiqi, Diona, Razor, Sayu, Noelle, Xiangling, Barbra, Gorou, Chongyun, Amber, or Xingyan. I won't do NSFW for Venti.

For Bleach, this includes anytime Ichigo, Orihime, Chad/Sado, and Ishida when they were in high school. They will be portrayed after their timeskip if they're requested.
