Some irl animal lore:
Spotted hyenas once had ranges that stretched far outside of Africa and into more northerly latitudes across Europe and into Russia. It’s possible they could have reached the British Islands via the land bridge that formed due to lowered sea levels (it is referred to as “Doggerland”).

everybody should accessorize plushies more. just carry a little guy out and about with you. take pictures of them sitting with your mcdonalds meal in public. clip em to your belt or hold their hand or put them on your shoulders like theyre real and having fun with you. fucking act like a human and experience so much fun and joy and wonder in the world with a plushie of your favorite animal or maybe anime wifeguy or sonic character. lifes too short to not take simple pleasures in sharing your day with your favorite plushie or other object of choice

During the ice ages, between 2.6 million and 11,700 years ago, more than 50 different elephant relatives still roamed the globe—including mammoths and mastodons. But by the end of that period, extinctions had wiped out most giant mammals across the world. Today, only three elephant species remain: African savanna elephants, African forest elephants, and Asian elephants.

Here's a commission I've been working on of a pair of Harlan's Ground Sloths (Paramylodon harlani).
These beasts could get up to 3 meters long and thrived in grasslands that bordered rivers during the Pleistocene.
