Is Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury the first anime series to depict a married same-sex couple?

Given the rings and comments from the staff (excluding Bandai) it's pretty clear that both Suletta and Miorine are married. And looking at older anime couples I can't find another one where the characters are actually married to one another.

There are series that depict engagements and proposals (implied or otherwise with queer characters).

Some examples would be:

Yuri & Viktor from Yuri on Ice, where it's implied that they want to be engaged.

Ranma & Akane from Ranma 1/2, both find themselves in an arranged engagement but end up falling for each other anyway. Ranma is canonically genderfluid in both the anime and manga and Akane is attracted to Ranma as both a man and a woman. And this is ignoring all of Ranma's other fiances who know about their curse and want to be in a relationship with them anyway.

Utena & Anthy from Revolutionary Girl Utena, while the circumstances of their engagement are out of their control, the two of them fall deeply in love with one another despite that. And in the movie they kiss.

Other LGBT anime couples are together or in love but next explicitly depicted as engaged or married would be:

Michiru Tenou & Haruka Kaiou from Sailor Moon, they are very much together and in the Crystal series end up living together and adopting a baby.

Yukito Tsukishiro & Touya Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura, who are in love with one another.

Eiji Okumura & Ash Lynx from Banana Fish, who are in love with one another. And it hurts.

Yuu Koito & Touko Nanami from Bloom Into You, who are two girls who fall in love with one another. And in the story you watch them grow and get closer.

Nezumi & Shion from No. 6, a sci-fi drama where two boys fall in love. This one also hurts.

And countless other examples, none of which I could find have the characters taking their relationship further than dating or engagement.

So, is Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury the first married same-sex couple in anime?

On a minor note, there have been several gay weddings depicted in manga.

Some examples would be:

Our Dreams At Dusk by Yuhki Kamatani, which was written by an asexual, X-gender author.

Until I Meet My Husband by Ryousuke Nanasaki and illustrated by Yoshi Tsukizuki. This manga was written by a gay man and based on his own essays about his life. The manga is auto-biographical.

I Married My Best Friend To Shut My Parents Up by Kodama Naoko, who has written several other LGBT manga, most of which are Yuri.

And there are several more!

Shoutout to Episode 7 of the 80s anime Dirty Pair for having a wedding between a cis man and a trans woman in one episode.

Premise: Periods aren't fun. But you know what is fun? Pizza and ice cream and Sloane Cameron. Those things are fun! GN reader!

Warnings: Period mentions (obv), other than that, none! Pure fluff!

You stared down at the fallen coffee mug as tears involuntarily begin to form in your eyes. Coffee spreads out in every direction and stains the fabric of your socks.

"What happened?" Illari peaks her head into the kitchen. "Oh..."

You wipe away tears gently as frustration wells up in your chest. An angry groan escapes your mouth before you could stop it.

"Ugh! Why is everything always so difficult?" You complain, leaning over to pick up broken pieces of ceramic.

"Accidents happen! It's okay!" Illari reassures you.

You toss the broken ceramic into the trash.

"I can take it from here. Go clean yourself up." Illari grabs several paper towels and soaks up the puddle of coffee.

You begrudgingly make your way into the bathroom, take off your damp socks and toss them in the dirty laundry hamper.

"Hmph... those were one of my favorite pairs." You feel the tears coming on again and begin sniffling. Immediately you shake your head in an attempt to center yourself. "Why am I so upset at everything today?" You ask yourself softly.

You glance over at the bathroom calendar and notice a red X scribbled in the box of today's date. Well... that explains it.

"Oh no..."

You place your hand over your stomach and quickly rush to the toilet to address the situation. Luckily enough you only spot a smidge of blood and let out a sigh of relief. You clean yourself up as needed and thoroughly wash your hands.

"Hey, Illari?" You call into the kitchen. "I'm running low on– uh... shark week stuff." You lower your voice from embarrassment.

"I could've brought you some. Have you started already?" She wipes her hands off on a kitchen towel and looks up at you.

"I have enough for today, but I'll need some more as soon as possible."

"Alright. Well I'll just text Sloane then–"

"No! I don't want to bother them with it..."

You're hit with a sudden wave of pain in your lower stomach and you double over from the shock. "Alright, scratch that. Text them immediately."

Illari nods. "I'll get the heating pad."

You collapse on the couch in the fetal position as the cramps intensify. Illari places the heating pad in the microwave before picking up her phone.

☀️Illari☀️: We got an emergency. Any chance you can stop by the store on your way over?

🪨Sloane💀: Yeah, what's up?

☀️Illari☀️: 🩸🩸🩸

🪨Sloane💀: Say no more.

Illari hurriedly places the warmed heating pad on top of your stomach. The heat begins to soothe the cramps in your lower stomach as she places a pillow under your head for extra comfort.

"Thanks Illari." You smile up at your friend.

"You're welcome. Sloane will be here in a few."

She throws on her jacket and shoulders her bag. "I'll be back in a little while. If you need anything– well, you know the rest."

She opens the door and jumps in surprise. "Oh my God, a warning next time, please!" She clutches her chest for a moment before Sloane rushes past her with several bags in their hands.

"I've got everything!" Sloane sets the piles of plastic bags on the floor and pulls everything out one by one.

"Ice cream– three different kinds!" They place three different containers on the coffee table and continue their digging. "I didn't know if you preferred pads or tampons so I got both... hope that's okay!"

"Alright. I think you're in good hands. I'll be back soon." Illari closes the door behind her before locking it.

"Pain killers–" They set down an extra large bottle of pain relievers next to your ice creams. "Soda–" A bottle of your favorite soda is set on a nearby coaster. "Oh, and the pizza will be here in about five minutes!"

Without waiting for your reply they run off into the back room to grab your favorite stuffie and a comfortable blanket. They toss the blanket over your body and tuck you in with your favorite stuffie.

"Alright, now to make you nice and comfy..."

They fold in all the corners of the blanket to make sure your entire body was covered. You snuggle into your blanket burrito and smile.

"We can't let these melt so pick one and I'll put up the rest– just make sure Illari doesn't see what kind they are or she'll lecture me about junk food again."

You remember that lecture fondly.

"Hmm, I'll take [ice cream flavor]."

Sloane rushes off in the kitchen to place the other ice creams in the freezer and grab a giant spoon. They set it down in front of you before dashing to answer the door for the pizza delivery person. It was so cartoonish that you had to laugh, but your returning cramps failed to see the humor in the situation.

☀️Illari☀️: I just saw the pizza delivery car drive by. You didn't order pizza, did you?

🪨Sloane💀: No

🪨Sloane💀: Okay

🪨Sloane💀: Maybe

🪨Sloane💀: But I paid for it!

☀️Illari☀️: I told you already that bananas are better for periods than pizza. Do we need to have this conversation again?

🪨Sloane💀: Oh no! My phone is dying! I'll text you back later lmaoooo 🤪

☀️Illari☀️: Of course you'd use that excuse...

🧸[Y/N]✨: It'll be okay Illari. I'll save you a couple slices!

There was a five minute pause before Illari answered again.

☀️Illari☀️: You better!

Sloane finally kicks off their boots and hangs up their jacket after everything settled down. You reach out to grab a slice of fresh pizza before they stop you.

"Hey! No moving! I'll take care of you tonight!" They chide.

They reach out and grab a slice before holding it to your mouth. You bite off a piece of it before they move it away and place a pain killer in your mouth instead.

"Take one of these so your cramps aren't so bad."

"Alright, doctor." You joke.

They grin and hold the soda to your mouth for a drink.

"Okay. Let's see. Ice cream? Check. Pizza? Check–"

"Three stacks of pizza, you mean." You butt in.

"Pizza is important for the recovery process! You have no idea!" They ruffle the hair on your head and you can't help but giggle. "– Sodas? Check. Looks like we have all the essentials!"

Without you even having to ask they turn on the TV and put on one of your comfort movies.

"I'm at your beck and call, my liege!" They kneel down in front of you and wait for your command.

"Okay. Give me a kiss, then."

Without hesitation they lean over and give you a kiss.

"I have an endless supply of those!" They smile.

"Oh? Then give me one more for good measure."

They lean in and give you one more kiss.

"I think I'm feeling better already. However, I think I'm missing one last thing..." You sit up in your blanket burrito. "I need a cutie to cuddle me."

Sloane immediately flops on the couch and throws their arms around you, nuzzling into you and making sure you're warm and comfy.

"How's that?" They ask.

"Perfect! Now..." You glance over at the food sitting on the table. "I think we should take care of the real issue here."

"You don't have to tell me twice!"

Before the two of you knew it, you were both full on pizza and ice cream and passed out on the couch in absolute bliss.

Illari quietly unlocks and relocks the door before setting her stuff nearby. She flips on the lights and notices two empty pizza boxes and a completely cleaned out container of ice cream laying on the floor.

"You've got to be kidding me."

Her hand flies up to her face before grabbing a cold slice of pizza and nibbling on it.

"Sloane Cameron, you're in huge trouble."

specifically putting ice spice on karma, the song about how great life is for taylor because she’s just such a good person, where the first line of the chorus is “karma is my boyfriend”, is really fucking insidious when it’s her current boyfriend that laughed at/made racist jokes about ice spice specifically not that long ago. and then she brings her out on stage and holds her hand and there’s this dead look in ice spice’s eyes like she’s just waiting for all this to be over, like she’s just doing this for the money and exposure or contractual obligations, and it’s fucking torture to watch. taylor’s walking her around like a pet. her patronizing, demeaning approach to this situation has only reestablished the belief that taylor is a racist white woman using white women tears and white feminism to get what she wants at the expense of not just black people as a whole, but black women, because she needs to feel better than other women to truly feel like she’s won.

Mors Martell - Miguel Ángel Silvestre

The coming of the Rhoynar to Dorne is clearly inspired by Moorish Spain so I specifically chose a Spanish actor for Mors.

Nymeria of Ny Sar - Sofia Boutella

Since the inspirations for the Rhoynar are Moorish Spain and Dorne is Palestine, I focused on choose Maghrebi/North African and Palestinian faceclaims for the characters from here onward.

I think Sofia actually looks kinda like some of the drawings for Nymeria as well!

Morra Nymeros Martell - Hiam Abbass

I chose the name Morra because I thought Nymeria would want to name her first born, likely knowing there would be some push back against a woman inheriting, after the father whose seat she’d be taking over.

I also thought Morra would likely be a bit older considering Nymeria lived for so long

Mors II Nymeros Martell - Takfarines Bengana

We aren’t told why they rule together.

I figured that meant either they were triplets and the oldest decided they should rule together, or that the oldest was sickly and decided to give their siblings ruling power to help cover the gaps they wouldn’t be able to fill as a disabled ruler.

With that in mind, I tried to find people around the same age, and gave them all “M” names because George loves naming conventions like that. I like to believe Myria is the oldest and the disabled one, with Mellei as the leader of her forces and Manfrey as her right hand in Sunspear. 

Myria Nymeros Martell - Hafsia Herzei

I completely made this name up

It should be pronounced MY-ree-uh.

I combined the “Ny” sound from Nymeria but with the M from Mors, then added the “ria” because a number of female Dornish names end in “ia.” 

Manfrey Nymeros Martell - Rami Malek 

There’s a Dornish character named Manfrey, one of Doran’s cousins. 

Mellei Nymeros Martell - Nadia Hilker

One of the two servants that Doran assigns to Arianne is named Mellei.

I figured it was likely an old fashioned Dornish name, along with Morra.

Kindergarten crush (Open rp)

It was recess at Toby's kindergarten and he was playing in the sandbox, making a sandcastle. Suddenly, the three bully kids came along, stomped on his castle and kicked sand in his face, which made Toby cry.

"Toby's a crybaby! Toby's a crybaby!" They all chanted.

"Hey, that's enough!" The newest girl in Toby's class came to his side, standing bravely between him and the bullies. "You better leave him alone!"

"Who's gonna make us?" Kevin, the leader, asked.

"I am!" she proclaimed, but the three kids looked at her and laughed.

"What are you gonna do? Make us sit down for a tea party?" they continued laughing, but the leader suddenly got a mouthful of sand. She picked up some sand and threw it in their faces. She looked ready to rumble, but the kids ran off coughing and rubbing their eyes. She stood triumphantly while Toby watched in awe. He felt something flutter in his belly when he watched her.

"Hey, are you okay?" the girl asked, helping him up.

"U-Um, yeah, I'm-I'm okay. Thank you." he answered.

"No problem. Those guys were jerks, but don't let them put you down. I like your ears and tail, by the way; I like dogs!" Toby felt his face get hot as he blushed. Soon, the bell rang for lunchtime.

"See you later!" she smiled and went inside. As he watched her go, Toby felt weird. He was all warm and fuzzy inside. Could it be that he was experiencing...his first crush?
