i’ve got this picture of Yutu being kind of artsy from your description. besides, being an outcast probably means a lot of solo hobbies from no friends. maybe a bonding method for Yutus with a father that is more artistic 👉👈
You have such a good point about being an outcast driving people towards solo hobbies σ( ̄、 ̄=) certain Yutus are more outgoing than others but that does only get you so far.  Of the ones I have written about, Floyd! and Cater! Yutu both had friend circles before coming to Twisted Wonderland, while Ace!, Azul!, and Riddle! Yutu were certifiably friendless.  Bonding between Yutu and a more artistic dad hmmmmm let's see...
notes: they/them used for Yuu, this is part of my fyuuture kid au, you can find an explanation of it here and here, or look at my masterlist for all of the posts.
Tumblr media
Vil! Yutu
... really likes to paint and draw, when I first wrote about him his unique magic involved temporarily bringing his paintings to life.  My brother used to dig through old fashion mags when he was teaching himself to draw and I can see Yutu doing the same.  So when he finally gets to see a not tortured version of his father and finds out he is a model on top of being an actor?  He's so eager to learn about all of it, and Vil has got to be thrilled to share.  You know between him and his own dad Vil has got to have a nice collection of vintage designer items he's willing to let Yutu have a look at.  Yutu has drawn his dad a lot, receiving a drawing someone has made for you is already beyond flattering, but when it's from a family member?  Forget the fridge, Vil is getting this framed.  I can also see him maybe commissioning Yutu because he wants to make sure he never under sells his work.  He is a member of the Schoenheit family, he is allowed, nay required to have a great deal of pride in himself.
Cater! Yutu
... likes playing guitar and he loves playing with his dad.  He's not really interested in playing with the other pop music club members, Yutu is a bit shy around his dad's friends.  When he's stressed he likes to play a few songs and sing, something I could see working for Cater too.  While I'm talking about Cater, I don't think he'd make a bunch of magicam posts about his family, just in general.  He uses magicam as a way of maintaining his false happy facade, his want to date Vil comes at least partially from his presence on magicam, some of his real self is on display there sure but a lot of it is exaggerated and fake.  When he has something real he wants to keep it away from the rest of the world, so while his followers absolutely are told he's #taken #blessed they don't know about the details of his relationship.  At least not if it's a healthy one.
Jade! Yutu
... is someone I haven't written about before but he is also very into music, just not jazz music.  Not that he hates jazz, he's just stuck in that teenage phase of refusing to admit the things his dad likes are cool, something Jade reasonably “sniffles” about but that's not to say music isn't a bonding point for them.  He also plays bass, just an electric not an upright one, and Jade enjoys listening to Yutu play.  He's very supportive and surprisingly soft in his praise for someone who just got done listening to his kid scream out a punk rock song.  As long as Yutu is willing to do some hiking with him (which he is) then he has no real problem with what his kid likes, if anything I can see Jade enjoying their differences.  Life is boring if everyone is the same.
Rook! Yutu
I've been thinking about Rook, just as a character recently and one of those things that's been stuck in my mind is that he was very shy as a child.  To keep this from becoming just general information about Rook! Yutu, unlike his father Yutu never got over his shyness, so a lot of their bonding revolves around Rook encouraging Yutu to see the beauty in himself.  He books tickets to shows, symphonies, and ballets in advance so he can make sure Yutu knows when they are going out and can prepare himself to be seen in public.  They plan their outfits together in advance, look up information about the company and what they are going to see so they can appreciate the art just that much more.  On the day of Rook makes sure to kiss Yuu goodbye,  and promises to come home safe.  But not to worry, he always has Yutu help him pick out a bouquet of flowers to bring back for you.  (Unless you're allergic to pollen in which case he'll bring home something else.)

heyyyy!! might seem random and I don’t know if you listen to Lana Del Rey at all so feel free to ignore me, but if you do, what are some of her songs that you associate with Oscar’s characters (like Poe, Llewyn, Miguel, Rydal, the Moon boys... whatever, I’m not picky). Love your work btw!
dear anon, you are in luck, you have no idea how much.
I don't listen to lana that much, I do listen to a few songs and appreciate her work but my dear best friend @eatingyouryoung happens to have the oscar + lana brainrot cocktail
when I asked her for help to answer this ask, she happened to have already thought about this and sent me a 5 pages long document she had written about the subject, so there you go:
Llewyn:
In My Feelings
Brooklyn Baby
« Could it be that I fell for another loser
I'm crying while I'm cummin'
Making love while I'm making good money
Sobbin' in my cup of coffee
'Cause I fell for another loser
Get that cigarette smoke out of my face
You've been wasting my time
While you're taking what's mine, with the things that you're doing
Talk that talk, well now they all know your name
And there's no coming back from the place that you came
Baby don't do it
'Cause you got me in my feelings (catch you, it's so much right now)
Talking in my sleep again (you can whistle if you want) »
Rydal:
« Well, my boyfriend's in a band
He plays guitar while I sing Lou Reed
I've got feathers in my hair
I get down to Beat poetry
And my jazz collection's rare
I can play most anything
I'm a Brooklyn baby »
« They say I'm too young to love you
They say I'm too dumb to see
They judge me like a picture book
By the colors, like they forgot to read
I think we're like fire and water
I think we're like the wind and sea
You're burnin' up, I'm coolin' down
You're up, I'm down
You're blind, I see »
California
Lucky Ones
« I shouldn't have done it, but I read it in your letter
You said to a friend that you wish you were doing better
I wanted to call you, but I didn't say a thing
Oh, I'll pick you up
If you come back to America, just hit me up »
« You don't ever have to be stronger than you really are
When you're lying in my arms, and, honey
You don't ever have to act cooler than you think you should
You're brighter than the brightest stars
You're scared to win, scared to lose
I've heard the war was over if you really choose
The one in and around you
You hate the heat, you got the blues
Changing like the weather, oh, that's so like you »
Santiago:
« Boy, get into my car, got a bad desire
You know that we'll never leave if we don't get out now, now, now
You're a careless con and you're a crazy liar, but, baby
Nobody can compare to the way you get down, down, down
I tried so hard to act nice like a lady
You taught me that it was good to be crazy
Every now and then, the stars align
Boy and girl meet by the great design
Could it be that you and me are the lucky ones?
Everybody told me love was blind
Then I saw your face and you blew my mind
Finally, you and me are the lucky ones this time »
On Our Way
Poe:
« Why do I think too much?
You tell me not to worry
Because you're the boss
And you, you got a real good plan
My trouble's all over now
Because you're my man
You don't know what you've done to me
You're heavier than heavenly
Life on the run has set me free, me free now
We're on our way »
Love Song
Miguel:
« Dream a dream, here's a scene
Touch me anywhere 'cause I'm your baby
Grab my waist, don't waste any part
I believe that you see me for who I am
So spill my clothes on the floor of your new car
Is it safe, is it safe to just be who we are? »
Black Beauty
Marc:
« I paint my nails black
I dye my hair a darker shade of brown
'Cause you like your women Spanish, dark, strong and proud
I paint the sky black
You said if you could have your way
You'd make it nighttime all today
So it'd suit the mood with your soul
Oh, what can I do?
Nothing, my sparrow blue
Oh, what can I do?
Life is beautiful, but you don't have a clue
Sun and ocean blue
Their magnificence, it don't make sense to you »
Say Yes to Heaven
Jake:
« If you dance, I'll dance
And if you don't, I'll dance anyway
Give peace a chance
Let the fear you have fall away
I've got my eye on you »
Honeymoon
Steven:
« There are violets in your eyes
There are guns that blaze around you
There are roses in between my thighs
And a fire that surrounds you
It's no wonder every man in town
Had neither fought nor found you
Everything you do is elusive
To even your honey dew »
Prom Song (Gone Wrong)
Nathan:
« Boy, it's late, walk me home, put your hand in mine
At the gate, stop and say, "be my valentine"
You are, by far, the brightest star
I've ever seen, and I never dreamed
I'd be so happy that I could die
You used to say that I was beautiful like Cleopatra
But you the king too, so I would say, "back at ya"
I flip my hair and make you stare and put my makeup on
And make up stories 'bout my life and put on very cherry bomb
And even then, I knew that we were something serious
That you would dominate my thoughts like radio to Sirius »
Pretty When You Cry
Blue:
« All those special times I spent with you, my love
They don't mean shit compared to all your drugs
But I don't really mind, I've got much more than that
Like my memories, I don't need that
I'll wait for you, babe, you don't come through, babe
You never do, babe, that's just what you do
Because I'm pretty when I cry »
Dealer
Jonathan:
« I check it, I wreck it, I turn it around
I gave you all my money, gave you all my money
Gave you all my money, gave you all my money
I don't wanna live
I don't wanna give you nothing
'Cause you never give me nothing back
Why can't you be good for something?
Not one shirt off your back
Why can't you be good for something?
Not one shirt off your back »
Young and Beautiful
Leto:
« Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful?
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul?
I know you will, I know you will, I know that you will
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful?
Dear Lord, when I get to Heaven
Please let me bring my man
When he comes, tell me that you'll let him in
Father, tell me if you can
All that grace, all that body
All that face makes me wanna party
He's my sun, he makes me shine like diamonds »
National Anthem
here you go :))
« I'm your national anthem
God, you're so handsome
Take me to the Hamptons, Bugatti Veyron
He loves to romance 'em, reckless abandon
Holding me for ransom, upper echelon
He says to be cool but, I don't know how yet
Wind in my hair, hand on the back of my neck
I said, "Can we party later on?"
He said, "Yes, yes, yes" »

First musical emotion?
TF: I grew up in an environment full of music, with a very open-minded mother who listened to a lot of pop and rock music and, above all, an older brother who was 13 years older than me. That's how much I was immersed in teenage culture as a child. I was 3 years old in 1984 when the glam metal wave invaded the airwaves and TV screens. These bands, like Kiss, WASP or Mötley Crüe, very strong visually for a child, attracted me irresistibly. And let's not forget Twisted Sister. I Wanna Rock is the track that remains the basis, the trigger for everything for me. A song that, at 3, 13, 23 or 43 years old, still has the same effect on me as soon as I hear it: to jump in the air like a madman.
First record bought?
If not Kiss, probably a Rolling Stones album. It didn't make much of an impression on me because my brother used to buy so many of them, so my money was mostly spent on Star Wars stuff. There are tons of bands I love, but I think the Stones are my favourite. Because they embody everything I love about rock, even though they weren't as sophisticated as the Beatles or Pink Floyd. Between 1967 and 1972, in their darkest period, nobody did it better than them: they had the look, the attitude, the style and, on top of that, the songs! Let It Bleed is incredible, with songs like Midnight Rambler and Live With Me. As much as I admire technical singers, virtuosos of harmony, Jagger remains unique. I've never tried to imitate him, but as a performer he is the absolute model.
First concert of note?
My brother used to take me to see local punk bands at a very early age, but I remember B.B. King most of all, when I was about 5 or 6, with my mother. It was a jazz festival, outside in the courtyard of a castle, a very cool atmosphere. As soon as B.B. King started playing, there was electricity in the air. Everyone got up and started dancing, I was blown away. And as I was the only one of my age, I could move around freely, so much so that I found myself in the backstage, in front of B.B. King himself! He invited me into his dressing room: "Do you play the guitar?" - Yes! - so don't stop!" And I took his advice. Even though I sing on stage, the guitar is still my favourite instrument, the one I play and master the most.
The band that best managed to avoid the pitfall of the image taking precedence over the music?
Kiss, unfortunately, was far from being up to the task musically. Alice Cooper, after two minor first albums, went on to make four incredible albums with the original Alice Cooper Group. Above all, he made a phenomenal comeback with Welcome to My Nightmare in 1975. After that, the show took over... The band that managed to stay straight and dignified, without compromising the artistic quality of their work, is undoubtedly Iron Maiden. All of their 80's production is impeccable, and if they had a slump in the 90's, they came back even stronger with the return of Bruce Dickinson, and have been going strong for twenty years! Their work ethic is exemplary. With Ghost, we take up Phantom of the Opera, one of my favourite tracks from their early period, and one of the few where I felt we could add a little something to it.
Best punk song in the world?
There are so many, because I was also brought up on the sounds of the Pistols, the Ramones, the Dead Kennedys... But as a kid, I never got tired of listening to The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle again, especially the sequence where Sid Vicious sings My Way. His version is one of my favourite songs of all time. What could be more awesome than to see a guy slaughtering this standard while doing the same, shooting the shit, with the audience that came to see him! It was like the ultimate middle finger, and it made me happy, and it showed me the way.
The band that remains the grail for you?
Queen, because the show side, the big show, is the ultimate for me. In the early 70s, my favourite musical period, there were no big shows yet, like the Stones started doing afterwards. Queen is the same. Of course, their best albums are from the 70s, but the peak of their career for me is the Wembley concert in 1986. Magic wasn't a great record, but the show was breathtaking, dantesque, with a repertoire as vast as it was delirious. If Ghost could ever come close to the 1986 Queen, I would be delighted.
The greatest Swedish band?
ABBA, of course. No one will ever be able to stand in their way. The Beatles are the monarchs of English rock, ABBA the monarchs of Swedish pop. Björn and Benny are national heroes. I found myself at a huge, formal party when Benny suddenly sat down at the piano and started Thank You For the Music. There was silence in a second. This guy is a monument. You can't imagine what ABBA has done, not only for pop music, but also for Sweden and the Swedes. This band proved that you can move mountains.
Which Ghost song are you most proud of?
Cirice, probably. I often write my songs by singing into my phone a melody that is in my head. We were about to finish the album Meliora. And the co-producer tells me that a really heavy and powerful track is missing. I tell him I have this heavy, heavy, macabre sounding tune with a long intro and a crushing riff. He suggests I tweak it while he goes for a run. When he came back, I had written a chorus, lyrical, catchy. It wasn't the leaden track he was hoping for. But it won us a Grammy!
The most evil band?
Certainly not Mercyful Fate, as one might imagine. They, like most Norwegian death metal bands, more or less satanic, are the most charming guys I've ever met. They seem more like nice teachers than evil creatures. The scariest band is probably Von, a mythical American black metal band from Hawaii. These guys were really scary, with their terrifying size, they looked really dangerous. But I think the evil is mostly on the side of those who pretend to defend the good. For me, the most evil and unattractive musician is Ted Nugent. He's pro-life, pro-hunting, and claims he's only fighting for freedom. But the world he defends is about as free and tolerant as Vladimir Putin's. I refuse to listen to him.

Warnings: toxic relationships and manipulation
Summary: In which you were dating the world famous Ellie Williams
Well, my boyfriend's in a band
Tumblr media
He plays guitar while I sing Lou Reed
I've got feathers in my hair
I get down to Beat poetry
And my jazz collection's rare
I can play most anything
I'm a Brooklyn baby
I'm a Brooklyn baby
Ellie was bound to be a star.
When Joel first taught her how to play guitar, he knew.
She was going to do great things, and everyone knew it too.
Ellie's first school concert was when she was 7 years old. She had guitar classes and her teacher was so impressed with her that she had Ellie do a solo.
As soon as Ellie got on that stage, it was as if she took control of the room in an instant. Everyone was so enchanted by her and everything she did.
Ellie was 17 years old when a producer reached out to her. Joel wasn't surprised because he knew his girl, and he knew one way or another that she would be a star.
And a star she became.
As soon as she turned 18, Ellie immediately signed the contract and she climbed the ranks in the music industry very quickly.
Within 3 months Ellies first single reached over a 100 thousand listens, and she was in high demand.
Everyone wanted her for brand promotions, they wanted the use her music.
Ellie was taking the music industry by a storm.
As the years went by, Ellie went from a solo artist, to being in a band with 2 best friends, Dina and Jesse.
They were called the golden trio, and because Ellie was the face of it they surpassed massive artists within days.
Now six years later, Ellie sat in her dressing room, as she heard the crowd chant her name.
Ellie! Ellie! Ellie!
She heard a knock on her door and she yelled a quick: "come in!"
As the door opened you walked in, and you walked towards her giving her a quick peck before whispering "you're on in 5 babe".
Ellie gave you another kiss, as she got up, walking to the mirror quickly fixing her outfit for a second.
"Do I look ok?" Ellie asked as she looked at herself in the mirror.
She was wearing a white wife beater, and a pair of black jeans, her hair was in a ponytails and her fingernails were painted black.
Ellie felt your arms wrap around her from behind.
"You look great, now go break leg baby!" You whispered before giving her a kiss on the side of her neck.
Ellie pulled away with a smile before she reached down to grab her guitar.
"Let's go!" She heard Jesse yell.
As she stood backstage, the chants grew louder and louder.
Ellie! Ellie! Ellie!
They repeated her name as if it was a prayer. Her fans worshiped the ground she walked on.
Even though they were the golden trio, Ellie would always be the one that out shines everyone.
Ellie walked onto the stage, the bright lights were shining into her face as the crowd erupted in screams and cries.
Ellie walked to the microphone with a massive grin, as she slinged the guitar to her front. She held the microphone as she spoke.
"Good evening Brooklyn!"
The crowd was yelling as if it was their last night alive.
Ellie yelled a quick "let's fucking do this!"
As the she brought her fingers down the strum the guitar.
Jesse started playing the drums, and Dina, her backup singer started with the back up vocals.
The crowd sang along and Ellie couldn't help but smile as she saw all that she had accomplished. She was thankful for everything that everyone had done for her over the years.
But she knew she wouldn't have come this far if it wasn't for you.
They say I'm too young to love you
They say I'm too dumb to see
They judge me like a picture book
By the colors, like they forgot to read
I think we're like fire and water
I think we're like the wind and sea
You're burnin' up, I'm coolin' down
You're up, I'm down
You're blind, I see
When you and Ellie fell in love, the two of you were only 15. Everyone always told you that you and Ellie would never last. That you were too young. But yet the two of you stayed together years later.
You were never as talented as Ellie.
Where she could flourish in room filled with people, you would shy away and hide a corner.
You've always wanted to be famous. You remembered when you younger you used to watch people blow up, and wish it was you.
You wished that you could be in the spot light. But for some reason you couldn't do anything to achieve that.
You were the complete opposite of Ellie. And because you were so shy you missed so many opportunities, and you hated yourself for that.
You met Ellie when you were 9 and you fucking hated her. She was everything you were not.
She was attractive, good at playing multiple instruments and she could sing. There was no way you would be able to beat or to come close to the Ellie Williams.
But where Ellie failed, you excelled. Ellie wasn't good with organization, or management. She was quite clumsy, to be honest.
And as soon as you guys became friends you helped her. You helped her make a schedule, you helped her make posters, you helped her with everything.
The two of you were an unstoppable duo.
Where Ellie was on fire or nervous, you would always calm her down, and put out whatever she got herself into.
When Ellie told you she liked you, you knew this was a way to get in. A way to get into the industry. Ellie was your key to success, and when you agreed to date her everything became better.
She hired you as her manager, and you had control over everything.
Her reputation, what she posted, who she saw, her finances. You were in control of Ellie and she didn't even realize.
You were going to be successful, and Ellie was the perfect person to use for your plan.
I'm talking about my generation
Talking about that newer nation
And if you don't like it, you can beat it
Beat it, baby
You never liked the way I said it
If you don't get it, then forget it
Cause I don't have to fuckin' explain it
Your plan started as soon as Ellie signed the contract.
The first step was for you to become her manager and that was the easiest thing ever due to Ellie always choosing you.
She would've left that company if they didn't let her have you.
As soon as you were in control, you realized that you had to get Ellie as out there as possible.
You arranged photoshoots, and interviews and you pushed her to the limit.
At some point in Ellie's career, she took a dip. She struggled, to write songs, she struggled to do anything.
You were loosing money and you hated that.
And on one random winter night it hit you.
You needed to hurt Ellie.
You loved her, but you were never in love with her. You cared, but you loved money more.
It started with small comments, such as:
"work harder" and "you can do better" and soon after you realized that manipulating her was the best way to about this whole situation.
You convinced her, that all her friends apart from the golden trio hated her.
"Ellie they are just using you. They'll never support you, like I do"
She cut ties with all of them and she wrote beautiful songs from the heartache, of loosing her dearest friends.
You made hate accounts on social media that focused on making fun of her insecurities. And with that more and more songs came out.
You were hurting her, but it was only temporary. Hurt is temporary, money will last you a lifetime.
You'll do anything to get what you want, and nothing and no one suspected you.
How could they? You were the love of Ellies life. The person she wrote most of her songs about.
But little did Ellie know you were the reason most of her songs even happened in the first place.
Without you, Ellie would've been nothing.
And you thank god that he gave you such an easy target.
Yeah, my boyfriend's pretty cool
But he's not as cool as me
'Cause I'm a Brooklyn baby
I'm a Brooklyn baby
"Did I do good?" Ellie whisperd as she lay on your chest.
"Could've been better" you lied. She was brilliant as always. But you realized that if you break Ellie down, her music would be better.
She would have more drive, to record and to sing, and to make money. Her hurt is what made you money.
More money, and more recognition for you as her manager.
Ellie let out a sigh.
"Are you sure I should continue singing? Recently you've been disappointed in me and I don't think that's good from a professional point of view" she admitted.
Ellie would always say things like this. Sometimes, the things you would day does get to her. And I hurts, it fucking hurts. But she never saw you as bad person. You were only there to help she would say.
"Don't be sensitive Ellie" you said as you pushed her off your chest.
Ellie sat up immediately with her eyes wide.
"If you stop singing who's gonna pay the bills?" You started.
"Do you want me to end up on the street..? Remember it'll be your fault I something happens to me"
Ellie quickly shook her head.
"No, god- no,... I don't want anything to happen to you" she said.
"Then you better stop thinking about quitting, and so as I say. After all I'm you're manager-"
"and you know what's best" Ellie finished your sentence with a smile.
You gave her a smile back before you opened your arms towards her, gesturing, with your hands that she lay down.
Ellie quickly crawled back into your lap, as she lay her head back down onto your chest.
"Sorry" she spoke softly.
"Don't be sorry" you muttered as you ran your fingers through her hair.
"Just go out there and make me proud... i love you, ok?" You spoke gently as Ellie closed her eyes and hummed.
Yeah, you might been dating a superstar, but she would never outshine you.
You would always be better than Ellie. Even if it wasn't on stage.
Tumblr media
Authors note: thank you sm for all the requests! My inbox is full of them so just know I'm working harder than the devil himself to get all of these out! Remember you are loved and to always be kind!

For a one shot, if you do x reader, then Alastor x sex repulsed ace reader? Maybe while they’re alive, and they meet because reader has something to do with radio broadcasting? I don’t think I’ve seen any one shots that cover that side of alastor and I’ll always request Alastor lmao
Ooo I love doing human Alastor! It wasn't until I saw everyone's similar hc fanart of human Alastor that I found him so attractive.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
Paring : human!Alastor x reader
Summary : Alastor never really found much comfort in other's presence. That is until he met you and the soothing voice that accompanied you.
───
Alastor was a well-known radio host in the beautiful city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Which meant that his show had a large audience along with many guests applying to be on his show. His favorite thing to broadcast was the local Jazz bands and singers. He wasn't much for talking to the guests though, the man kept to himself. The one time he tried to connect with a guest was with a poorly timed pun in which the guest just looked at him stupid. Never again. Well... until he met you.
Your popularity in your beloved hometown was building up quickly. At first you were just a singer in a church choir. However over time all your friends and family believed you were wasting your talent just singing in a church. Never has anyone heard such an angelic voice. Taking their advice, you began to sing from pubs and restaurants to minor radio shows.
After a while you yourself got a bit of a following, people came from nearby cities to hear you sing. You had a unique talent that sensed the listener's emotion and corporated the feelings into your song whether it be love, heartbreak, grief, or joy. And everytime, the audience was sent to tears.
Eventually your reputation finally reached Alastor's ears. He had all kinds of requests from fans to have you on his show. It was a first for him. So of course he followed through and managed to get into contact with you. It wasn't hard really, in fact it seems your home phone number was attached to every possible pub in town.
One week. In one week would you be singing for the most popular radio host in Louisiana. It was a a dream. Your career would finally be taking it's first huge step. Every night since the show started, you have listened in. You were a big fan and all the bands that have been including in his episodes turned out to be famous in the long run. Somewhat anyway.
The night had finally came and all you brought with you was a guitar. It's all you needed. Singing was great but writing music was your real passion. Being able to sing is just a bonus.
"My name is Alastor. It's a pleasure to meet you, dear. Quite a pleasure. Your reputation precedes you." He takes your hand in his, kneeling a little to kiss the your knuckles.
"The pleasure is all mine really. My name is, Y/N. I've been looking forward to meeting you myself." You took one side of your dress in between your fingers and curtsied, steadily holding the guitar in the other.
"Well dear let's not keep our folks waiting any longer then!" He sets up a stool and microphone on the mini-stage behind him, gesturing you to sit down for taking his seat st his desk in front of you. He obviously wasn't interested in any small talk but his moods weren't that hard to read. As you started playing your guitar, you took everything he was feeling into account.
His face remained away from you but you could feel his tense body starting to relax. Your voice soothed him to a point of shock. He had never heard anyone more beautiful. All the sorrow and loneliness he's been feeling is flowing through his ears like she had just listened to his own heart. His own breath caught in his throat, forming a lump.
Gentle and quiet tears streamed down his face as he remembered the best memories of his mother whom had just recently died. While his eyes stayed had been on you for quite some time now, a smile began to form on his cheeks. He wiped the tears away before clapping upon the end of the song. He held his hand out to you, allowing you to take a step down from the stage.
"That was amazing, Y/N." He took a deep breath to compose himself. "Say.. would you like to come back next week? I believe everyone will agree when I say we need more of your voice." He says handing you his card with his personal phone number on it.
"And please feel free to call me for anything you may need. Even if it's just for a coffee." He says with a wink.
───
a/n- i know it's not exactly what was requested but I hope you like it anyway 💗 🙏

Regarding fandoms and comments, I've recently had negative comments that tell me I'm not good and should just quit writing. Well, it worked. I no longer am able to write without it affecting my mental state. People who do the bullying do it to get rid of authors they don't like that doesn't fit their mindset. When does it end? I didn't want it to hurt my mental health and get me to quit, but it did.
People treating each other badly whenever they can never ceases to make me sad.
I try to think the quote "hurt people hurt people" when dealing with negative people. Happy, balanced people, who view others as their equals, have no need to leave negative comments, send hate messages etc. to others just because they can.
Take a little break but don't let anyone stop you from doing what you love! I try to keep this mentality and I always think about how Billy Idol (80's famous singer) just kept pushing forward whenever someone or something said no to him:
When he was a child, he wanted to play a guitar. Parents said "No, you can only play a violin" -> Billy secretly got himself a guitar with 5£ at the age of 9 and learned to play it by himself.
His teenage girlfriend dyed his hair white. Everyone said it looked horrible on him -> Billy kept the white hair and made it his trademark.
He discovered punk and FINALLY managed to put a band together in his late teens. Too bad that London, where he lived, had closed all bars and pubs from punk bands. They weren't legally allowed to play anywhere. -> Billy and a few other guys established their own place for all punk bands, where all where welcome to play.
He went to university to study music. He was bullied and ostracized by other students as he was too weird, too freaky looking and listened to punk instead of jazz -> He was lonely but staid in the school and kept his looks and music taste.
He started to dislike being a band member and wanted to have a solo career. Everyone said you can't make it, you suck, you can't make compose a shit -> Billy decided to start a solo career as Billy Idol anyway.
When he started to get a little footing in the Europe, he decided that he wants to go to USA. It would give him better markets and more chances to succeed. Too bad that Europe's most famous punk band, Sex Pistols, has just epically failed in their attempts to make it in the USA. America hated punk and Billy Idol was nobody compared to Sex Pistols. Everyone called him delusional for having such stupid dreams. -> Billy went to USA anyway
In America, all record labels he went to said the same thing; you will never make it here. You sing punk and we hate it. You sing with British English and we hate it. You look so fucking ugly that no one will come to see you. If you want to succeed here, you need to change your music style for radio friendly stuff, change your accent and change your looks. -> Billy thought that if singing with American accents helps, he does it. Otherwise, fuck you. This is the music he wants to do and this is his style and how he wants to look. -> This decision led him to become super famous. Everyone loved his music and the fucking ugly guy became one of the 80's sex symbols, and his music videos were literally directed to sell with sex to the female audience.
Also, it was told him with dead certainty by many people that your music will never play in radios. EVER. Well, what do you know, his music still plays in the radios, 40 years later :3
So, keep going! Keep writing! There's audience for every single style out there and just because some asshat wasn't impressed, it doesn't mean others wouldn't like your stuff.
I mean, how much emphasis do we want to put into asshats words anyway? Which matters more; some random asshat's feelings or our own joy and inspiration when we do something creative?

synopsis: it's your anniversary with wilbur, and you cook him his favorite dinner, but... why is he taking so long to come home?
TW: cursing, angst, hurt, abandonment etc
Tumblr media
as you counted down the days until your anniversary with your boyfriend wilbur, you decided you wanted to suprise him! so, about a week or two before the day, you asked him if he would mind coming over to "just hang out". he agreed, and when the day came, you started cooking.
you put on a nice dress, knowing will would still be in a collared button up and nice pants from work. you cooked ALL. DAY. going to the grocery store, letting the bread dough rise, making dessert, boiling pasta.. it was a lot to handle.
you calculated an estimate time for him to be home, and once it hit that time, you set the table, lit candles, and turned on soft jazz music. oh, and of course, stashing away his gift.
...
...
after what felt like ages of waiting, y/n decided to call him.
...ring...
...ring...
...ring...
“hi, this is wilbur, leave a message after the beep“
y/n sat, a little shocked. so she decided to text him, just in case he was taking the subway and didn't want to be rude by answering the phone.
y/n💕
hey will, you on your way?
*20 mins later*
wilbur, you there?
where are you?
will..?
as an hour had passed, y/n realized he wasn't coming. she just stared down at her lap, and cried.
she didn't know how long she was crying, could've been minutes, could have been hours. but her sobs were broken by the front door making its clicking noise.
y/n was paralyzed. she could barely breathe.
as wilbur stepped through the entry way, he looked no different than normal. not rushed, not sorrowful...
"where the fuck were you wilbur."
"i was just at tommy's, why?"
y/n kept her head down.
"why didn't you answer my calls? ot my texts?"
"oh, tommy and i were playing a game that just came out. idk what the big deal is..."
y/n shook with anger, still not letting wilbur look at her in the face.
"not a big deal?" she brings her head up, and wilbur noticed her running mascara and puffy red eyes. "do you even know what today is?"
wilbur's heart dropped as he realized.
it was their anniversary.
"you know what, im leaving." you said, not even pausing to grab a coat to protect against the harsh weather. "i made all of your favorites. it's all in the fridge so you can microwave it." you said bleakly, eyes filling with tears as you turn to him one last time.
"i even got you a gift." you shove the beautifully wrapped present box with a card on top into his chest, letting your eyes wander up into his. his eyes were filled to the brim with tears, and his face is in a state of pure shock.
"im gonna go. don't even think about calling or texting me." you said, slamming the front door behind you.
Wilbur pov
fuck.
i've fucked up.
i had forgot the most important day of the year. she tried to make plans, and i went to tommy's instead to play a stupid fucking video game.
she worked all day to make all of this food for us.
wilbur laid his their shared bed, sobbing in a curled up ball, only before sitting up and staring at the gift box. it was quite large, very enticing, but he decided to read the card first.
"dearest wilbur,
there are no words to describe the amount of love i feel for you. you have helped me so so much, and i can never thank you enough. your passion, determination, and the amount of love you put into things is and always will be a marvel to me. you make me feel cared for, and no matter how bad it gets, you're always there for me.""
"you're always there for me"
as he slowly opened the box, the tears immediately started flowing.
it was a guitar.
wilbur remembered this guitar.
on their first date, wilbur took y/n to the city to roam around and see the new shops. they stopped inside a cute, quaint little music shop. he made a light comment about how he played guitar, and y/ns eyes lit up, immediately bugging him to play something with one of the shops guitars. they sat down and he played a light tune, a love song. written for her. she fell in love.
that was the guitar, sitting before him.
he didn't know what to do, but he had to do something to make things right.
Tumblr media
a/n: HELLO EVERYONEEEE!! peachy is back and better than ever. a pt. 2 to this will come out at some point, comment if you wanna be tagged. im glad to be back, soon ill be doing a request event, so if you have any good prompts, comment!! ty guys so much, and stay peachy.🍑🍵

Paul’s Trying To Get To You
The thread of this song weaving in and out of Paul’s most formative music experiences
Oct 1956: Elvis’s debut album is released in the UK as Rock ‘n’ Roll and the B-side includes Trying to Get to You
Tumblr media
I just had to reach you, baby / In spite of all that I've been through / I kept traveling night and day / I kept running all the way / Baby, trying to get to you.
Well if I had to do it over / That's exactly what I'd do / I would travel night and day / And I'd still run all the way / Baby, trying to get to you
[full lyrics]
Jan-June 1957: Ian James gets the Elvis record and a guitar
Tumblr media
“It was in this time frame that Paul formed a closer friendship with Ian James, an Institute boy (in his year) he’d known since 1954. Ian was also into rock and skiffle and he’d recently been bought an acoustic guitar by his grandparents, at whose house he lived in the Dingle. (Every guitar had a maker’s name: his was a Rex.) The two boys became good pals on the strength of it. While they tended not to see each other in the evenings, because they lived some distance apart, Paul often went to Ian’s house for an hour or two after school—they walked there together down the hill from the Institute—and Ian sometimes went to Forthlin Road at weekends, taking his guitar with him. Ian James held a triple attraction for Paul: he was an intelligent, decent and affable lad, he had some rock records, and he had a guitar—an unbeatable combination.
In the front room at home I had a table-top portable record player, three speed. I remember playing “Blueberry Hill” by Fats Domino over and over, just the first line and then I’d pick up the needle and put it back at the start. I also had Elvis Presley’s first album, which we played time after time after time, with “That’s All Right Mama,” “Trying to Get to You,” “Lawdy Miss Clawdy,” “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry (Over You),” “Mystery Train” … Elvis was the one to copy, he was the hero. He had everything: the charisma, the looks, the voice. Frank Sinatra had only one style but Elvis could do anything—gospel, blues, rock and roll, romantic ballads. There was nobody else like him. Paul and I talked about Elvis all the time.15
The Rex guitar was ever at hand. Ian showed and reinforced to Paul those three chord fundamentals that would get him started, C, F and G or G7, the basis for pretty much every song they loved.”
—Tune In (Ch. 5, Jan-June 1957)
July 1957: Paul is invited to join the Quarrymen and trades his trumpet for his first guitar
Tumblr media
At some point in July 1957, Paul finally got his first guitar. It had been a long time coming and he was desperate. As he couldn’t afford to buy one he had the bright idea of swapping his trumpet for it, the one his dad had bought him two years earlier. Jim didn’t mind—it was clear where Paul’s interest was. “I traded in the trumpet for a £15 Zenith guitar from Frank Hessy’s. There was a feller there called Jim Gretty and he showed us (me and George) a great chord. I never knew its name—we called it ‘a jazz chord’…”
Mike McCartney has said of Paul and his first guitar, “He would get lost in another world. It was useless talking to him—I had better conversations with brick walls.” Paul played the guitar everywhere, even on the bus. At home he played it in the bath and sitting on the toilet. “The fine acoustic of the toilet area was always very appealing to me. And it was also very private, about the only private place in the house. I used to sit there for hours—there and the bathroom. Dad would shout, ‘Paul, get off that toilet!’ [And I’d reply] ‘I’m practicing!’ ”4
…Rod Davis has a recollection of Paul dropping in to see a group rehearsal at (of all places) Mimi’s house, and Eric Griffiths says the group all went to Paul’s house one afternoon for a rehearsal together—something Paul has never mentioned. (Like almost everything to do with the Quarry Men, solid information is lacking.)
…Ian James says he and Paul struck up an informal musical duo: “We used to take our guitars around to parties and play a few numbers. Have guitar will travel—wherever we went our guitars went too. We played songs from that first Elvis LP: ‘Trying to Get to You,’ ‘Lawdy Miss Clawdy,’ ‘Mystery Train’…
—Tune In (Ch. 7, July-Aug 1957)
Aug 1957: Paul’s away at summer camp and then on holiday but glued to his guitar
Tumblr media
[O]n August 7, the Quarry Men played the Cavern again…This Cavern booking would have been Paul’s Quarry Men debut but for him being away with the Boy Scouts at summer camp—another ten days of wet feet, wind and Woodbines. The 19th City troop’s destination this year was the Peak District—Callow Farm, Hathersage, Derbyshire—and both McCartney brothers went. Paul (inevitably) carted his Zenith along with his sleeping bag and tin mug. Almost as soon as they’d pitched tents, Mike had an altercation with an oak tree, badly breaking his arm; he was taken to the hospital in Sheffield while Paul remained at the camp and entertained around the fire with Elvis’s “Trying to Get to You.”13
Mike was in the hospital four weeks, his plastered arm in a sling, and on the day of his release—the last full week of the school holidays—Jim arrived in Sheffield with Paul and revealed they were all heading straight off to Butlin’s. Bett and Mike Robbins had fixed them seven days at Filey, on Yorkshire’s east coast…
Ever the keen photographer, Mike operated the camera single-handedly to take a fascinating photo of Paul on Filey beach with Bett Robbins and her infant son Ted. Paul is perched on Ted’s pushchair and playing the much-traveled Zenith. The photo could be the closest taken to the date he met John Lennon, showing a 15-year-old who’s come through his chubby period and is looking good.
—Tune In (Ch. 7, July-Dec 1957)
Oct-Nov 1957: Paul plays his first gigs with the band as John’s equal
Tumblr media
In images of the Quarry Men before Paul joined they’re all wearing different clothes. In the first photo of the group with Paul they have a uniform look, and a sharp one at that: white shirts with black bootlace ties and black trousers, and John and Paul (only) are also wearing jackets on top, white or cream—it’s Paul’s “white sports coat” and something similar John has managed to acquire. This was undoubtedly Paul’s doing, reaching back to his experience at Butlin’s in 1954 when he saw how a singing group in matching gear claimed everyone’s attention. He’d brought the thinking early to John, and John had bought it. And something else is compelling about this Quarry Men photo: although it’s John’s group, new boy Paul is not at the back with Colin or Len, or to the side like Eric, he’s up front with John. Lennon and McCartney are clearly the front line of the Quarry Men, strumming crummy Gallotone and upside-down Zenith, and they’re the only ones with vocal microphones. The group is the two of them and three others. When one sings lead the other provides harmony; often they sing the lead in unison—and their voices go together.
One can only surmise what they sang into those microphones. Nigel Walley remembers plenty of rock in the repertoire in this period and not so much skiffle, including several Elvis numbers—“All Shook Up,” “Blue Moon of Kentucky,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Lawdy Miss Clawdy,” “That’s All Right Mama” and “Trying to Get to You”—as well as “Be-Bop-A-Lula,” “Blue Suede Shoes” (Carl or Elvis), “Come Go with Me” and “Twenty Flight Rock.”
—Tune In (Ch. 7, July-Dec 1957)
Jan-May 1958: Paul writes In Spite of All the Danger and John wants to record it
Tumblr media
As George knew several more guitar chords than John or Paul, every time he showed them a new one they tried to write a song around it36—and it was in this period, possibly at Upton Green, that Paul wrote one he called “In Spite of All the Danger,” a chugging and melodic country-flavored number with a couple of extended lead guitar solos created by George. For this reason, the song was a unique deviation from the Lennon-McCartney credit: it went down as McCartney-Harrison.
The tune of “In Spite of All the Danger” was entirely Paul’s, but it leaned heavily on the melody of Elvis’s “Trying to Get to You,” a song that includes the lyric “[in] spite of all that I’ve been through.” Using an existing song as inspiration for the writing of another is standard practice, but the rock and roll era was already littered with outrageous examples of plagiarism seemingly free of legal action—possibly because the song being copied was not entirely original to that composer either.
…John decided the Quarry Men should make a record, and the others needed no persuading—just 3s 6d each. This time the answer to “Where we going, Johnny?” was 38 Kensington, where one Percy F. Phillips ran probably Liverpool’s only recording studio and record press.
Seventeen years later, without the advantage of hearing it in between times, John recalled what he could of the session: “The first thing we ever recorded was ‘That’ll Be the Day,’ the Buddy Holly song, and one of Paul’s called ‘In Spite of All the Danger.’ It cost us fifteen shillings and we made it in the front room of some guy’s house that he called a recording studio.”
…John again sings lead on “In Spite of All the Danger,” Paul provides more fine harmonies throughout, and George adds an “ah” backing. It’s said Colin and Duff hadn’t heard the song before, and so were feeling their way through it, but it’s not solely for this reason that it plods somewhat. Though the debt to “Trying to Get to You” is clear, it’s still an original number and an interesting, attractive one at that, written by a boy of 15—a fantastic achievement.
—Tune In (Ch. 8, Jan-May 1958)

Ok I said I would make a pin full of music so here it is
First off, I mentioned KNOWER. It's a long project that started a really long time ago, but their best stuff is probably coming out like right now. As in, they are just about to release a new album, KNOWER FOREVER. The singles on it are incredible, like I'm The President just comes right out the gate with the fattest walkdown I've ever heard from a horn section. The B section makes it feel like I'm enjoying a song like I would a multiple-course meal. Then Crash The Car just transfixes you. Yes, yes, you should listen to those, but don't neglect the fire they put out in 2017 because you owe it to yourself to watch the live sesh of Overtime:
youtube
Oh god this post is gonna make viewing my blog super annoying isn't it
Anyway the next thing I gotta mention is Vulfpeck. These guys are famous for scamming Spotify, basically. They released an album full of 30-second tracks of pure silence, just absolutely nothing, titled Sleepify. They got online and said "Yo guys, help us raise money for a free concert by listening to this on loop while you sleep." What they were actually doing was exposing a loophole in the way Spotify calculated royalties, and before they could pull the album (citing "content policy violations," of course), Vulfpeck had already bagged around $20,000, so they put on the completely admission-free Sleepify Tour, which was incredibly fucking based of them.
Vulf went on to become several spin-off projects, all entirely independently released and full of some of the stankiest funk fusion that I cannot stop listening to.
My favorite of these projects, The Fearless Flyers, is headed by Cory Wong, with a guitar idol of mine for 5+ years Mark Lettieri and of course the government subsidized active bass of Joe Dart, but the keystone of the group is no doubt Nate Smith on drums. Dude makes a three-piece set onstage sound like a full kit.
Like just look at what they can do with the added power of sax:
youtube
And yeah, I could just talk about those guys, but let's get weirder.
I'm talking modal. The kind of stuff that makes my choir-trained mother cringe inward at the dissonance. Let's talk about the crunchiest, most feral fucking harmonies and keyboard solos that make you question what you thought you knew about chord progressions and key centers.
Obviously anyone super into this stuff will have already heard of Jacob Collier, so I won't show him. But THIS:
I listened to this the first time and it was just.. too much. I put it in its own specific playlist titled "very complex shit" immediately. When I went back to it, enough time had passed and I had learned enough that after way too many listens I can actually follow along with this insanity. This track blew my fucking mind, dude. I have never heard a chorus use so many of the 12 chromatic notes and still sound heavenly. The groove changes add so much texture. The flute solo goes off way too hard. The slower final section is just disgusting syncopation when the drums come back in. Everything about it is incredible, and this album came out in 2007. I am staring back at years of my life I spent not listening to this and ruminating my lack of music theory knowledge. And when I wanted to see if some kind transcribing jazz grad student like June Lee had uploaded anything of System, I found a 2020 reboot with 24 musicians playing System for over twice its original runtime, and guess who did the showstopping final solo??
Tumblr media
JACOB FUCKING COLLIER.
Look him up if you don't know. The other musicians I obsess over inspire me. This guy makes me want to quit.

My experience at the show at Spektrum Arena, Norway, 30th april 2023 ❤️
THIS WAS THE BEST FUCKING CONCERT EVER.
I loved the person who'd done a list of highlights/thoughts and here's mine. It helps me remember what the fuck even happened 😂
SO! I'd been looking so much fucking forward to this show, and it just meant so much to me. They've been my favourite band since 2005 and I've never had the chance to see them before. And it was just the most wholesome experience. That's the best way i can describe it. I'd expected to feel super emotional and cry my eyes out, but I was just happy. Perfectly and superbly and absolutely HAPPY! Blessed to be there and to get to experience being in the same room as my favourite band and sing their songs with them. I was so so so so so happy and kept smiling and recording to have everything to relive later, and they were in a great mood and they sounded INCREDIBLE and Alex was such a little sweetheart. The most adorable man on the planet!!!
I can't describe the endless happiness i felt in my heart getting to sing along at the top of my lungs to my favourite songs, to watch these guys I've been admiring for almost two decades and finally see them with my OWN TWO EYES LIKE FUCK! And watch them play and interact and Alex being so happy and chipper, and getting to watch them do their thing fucking expertly.
And being in a room of other people who share that joy was just amazing. All i want is to do it all again. It was perfect, everything I ever wanted, exactly what I'd been expecting. I'd hoped for a different setlist, but who fucking cares! It was amazing and I wouldn't trade anything for the world.
SO! Highlights and rambly thoughts incoming!
FLUORESCENT ADOLESCENT!!!!!!! I SCREAMED
Other highlights for me were teddy picker, suck it and see, mirrorball and body paint. I was genuinely blown away by how astoundingly beautiful mirrorball is and i got so emotional thinking back to when the video dropped and i was up crying at 1am and how we all shared it and it was just 😭😭 flashlight moment here also
R u mine and dancefloor fucking SLAP!! They're just sosososoos good and fun and they sound awesome!!
I FREAKED OUT SEING THE GUITARS!!!!!
In general i thought the audio was really good!! Alex's voice sounded incredible and the band played exquisitely!! The sound in the arena wasn't muddled at all and it wasn't so loud everything was drowned out. also the big screens are so pretty??? the big circle one ofc but also the others, the colour grading is superb and my photos dont do it justice at all! i loved watching when the circle would create an infinite image of circles and alex's face in the middle
I was the only one standing up and dancing in my entire section during brianstorm but i was too busy rocking out to care
He said "hellooooo... I'm over here... By the piano!" after the lights had gone down and he'd moved there in the dark, it was the most adorable thing ever. His voice was all small and smooth and cute and jazzy, like the lounge singer he is. Could so easily imagine him in a dark jazz club somewhere sweet talking everyone from behind his piano
His voice is higher in real life!!! Someone said it and it's so true!! Sounded so much like his older self
He was in such a great mood! So happy and excited to be there and he kept saying little things to us, saying "so many rockers gathered under one roof, Oslo!!"
During the big solo in body paint he went around to all his bandmates and played with them all, giggling and smiling and it was ADORABLE. And the solo itself was SO LONG AND COOL AND AWESOME !! He just kept playing!!!! AND he also did the piano thing at the same time! And before he started playing the solo he did a little headnod to himself
He did the bowling bit during pretty visitors!!! and celebrated himself for landing an imaginary strike
The crowd was a little dead, very much just TikTok people and dads with their little kids. At least in my area. Might've been better down on the floor tho
Before they went on during the preshow playlist the crowd did a big wave all around the arena!
There was a flashlight show during four out of five! and there was the red blinking lights and a slow ending!!
It was literally the most wholesome experience!!! I was smiling the whole time, so happy just to see them having fun and playing and being happy. It was exactly everything I wanted it to be
Except for the fact that they didn't play From The Ritz or Perfect Sense 😔
The lights and the mirrorballs were so pretty!!! People screamed for it!!! They had two! the one in the ceiling and the one on the set and they used that one during wanna be yours
At the end of R U Mine? Alex went up to Matt and they had a little chat and giggle and I caught it on the big screen and Alex looked like Humbug and taotu for a second and then his smile was so pretty and I'm !!!!! 😭😭😭😭🥰❤️❤️🥰❤️ Most adorable man in existence!!!!
And the end Alex didn't want to leave the stage and he kept blowing kisses and waving even after everyone else had gone and the lights had been turned off, he just kept waving 😭 i sent him so many kisses back i just couldn't help myself
He kept saying "Terrific!" and "Excellent!!! Really, excellent!!" and he mentioned he was having such a nice time!!
HIS VOICE DURING DO I WANNA KNOW WAS SOME OF HIS BEST VOICE WORK THIS ENTIRE TOUR.!!!
When they returned for the encore everyone was applauding and screaming and he tapped his heart and did a little shy gesture, like waving his hands at us like "oh stop it you" VERY CUTE
HIS VOICE IS SO BEAUTIFUL I CANT BELIEVE HOW GOOD HE SOUNDED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE THING
It was really a lot seeing him irl with MY OWN TWO EYES on stage, and then on the two big screens and ALSO in the big circle screen!! That's a lot of Alex Turner at once and it made me emotional!!
He wore the red scarf when he entered the stage but took it off immediately after sculptures
They did a slow piano bit before why'd you only call me when you're high!
Also the low-key suck it and see intro, the slow solo in crying lightning and slow solo intro for don't sit down too!!! Very cool!!!
His hair was a big gorgeous mess at all times!
Toms guitar malfunctioned during the Arabella solo so Alex and the lights were just going crazy to nothing and i snorted at the view on the big screen of Tom not playing 😂
Star treatment!! "What doya ~*MEAN*~ you've never seen blade runner?" Alex did such a pretty high note and he looked so impressed with himself afterwards. wiped "sweat" off his brow too. also this song is so beautiful??? they do it so well live
Even if the upbeat rockier songs are my absolute favourites, the thing that really hit me at the show was that they really fucking excel at creating beautiful slow moments. The slower songs and the lights and Alex's voice and everything coming together - no one can fucking beat them at that. That's fucking growth, gentlemen. And it was glorious to behold.
Four out of five is so fucking funky when they play it like that! Alex's voice was GORGEOUS ON IT! It reminded me so much of a star wars soundtrack for some reason, like a super cheesy 80s one. also davey played bongos!!!!???
They played the new version of 505 which was great (even if i prefer the punch of the old one) but it was amazing still! Alex played guitar on the Vox Starstream which was a super treat and he seemed to enjoy himself immensely!
He played legit looked like he was going to smash his guitar for a second but then it was just the baseball thing after body paint. wouldn't have put it past him if he'd smashed it tho! his energy was through the roof!
DONT SIT DOWN IS A FUCKING BANGER AND IT KICKS MY ASS. Alex was stomping all over the stage to the beat and rocking out so hard!! It sounded SO GOOD and it's still one of my absolute favourite live tracks of theirs !! It's so fucking cool, the beat is so deep and heavy and the guitars are back it up and !!!! I WAS SCREAMING FOR THIS ONE!!! Lived up to all of my expectations!!
Also they did teddy picker and i was so happy!!!!!!!! Was rocking out so hard!!! I love that one and it works so well live and !!!! LOVED IT!!! Even if i knew it would probably be at the expense of Ritz
Sculptures REALLY PACKS A PUNCH!!!!!! ITS SO POWERFUL!!!! I was so sad that it was over so soon, we need it twice in the setlist!
THE CROWD WAS SO LOUD! Mostly during the popular songs BUT STILL IT WAS A JOY and I'm so proud so many people love this little band
Alex did a big wave your arms bit during pretty visitors and it was so much fun!
Also even if Arabella is kinda overplayed at this point it's still such a live banger!!! And they obviously have a lot of fun playing it
Alex did a really pretty note during Teddy Picker "that says that we ~*AREEEEE*~ defenders.." very cooooool loved the energy of this performance 🥰
Between don't sit down and why'd you only call me Alex sat down at the piano (see earlier point 😭) and played a little interlude where he sang "that was don't sit down cause i moved your chaaaaaiiirrrr oslo and now is why.. you only call me when you're hiiiigghhh...." very cool and smooth and jazzyyyyy
He generally said a lot of little things in between songs, saying OSLO!! all the time and little comments
The big mirrorball was lowered during big ideas and it was very pretty! He did the sit down slam thing on the piano! he looked very serious for a lot of the song!
He did a lot of spreading his arms and posing, lots of running hands through his hair, lots of stomping and waddling around on stage.. all in all very cute behaviour!!

5 Songs I'm Into Right Now
Thanks to @riftdancing for the tag! I love talking about music so this was perfect :)
1. acloudyskye - Surface
I decided to check out this album after seeing it pop up in RYM's new music since I'd heard one of acloudyskye's previous albums, and this song just sunk its hooks into me and won't let go. That guitar line. The piano chords backing it up. The production. The lyrics. The vocal delivery. The vibes. The main guitar riff and the chorus ("If you're there, can you hear it?/They're shooting flares in the distance/They won't find a trace of us/We'll be gone when morning comes") both live in my head rent free. This is a song that ends a character playlist I'm working on, and that spot is well earned.
2. 2hollis - all 2s
Fitting to go at number 2, I stumbled on this while trying to find more electroclash in the vein of Justice and decided to give it a spin. That first 30 seconds or so is what grabbed me: the simple synth line & choppy vocals that becomes a Wall of Noise after 16 bars. Don't know what it is about it, but that kinda noise just scratches some part of my brain the right way, and this song does it like few else. The synths in this are also fun, and I love the hype energy this has. Just a banger.
3. Fever Dolls - Gennifer Flowers
You can blame @reversalsun for this one, I got it from their playlist for one of their OCs (Anja, the one I made a drink for, as it happens), and it's wormed its way right into my brain. I love the very "theatrical" delivery of the verses with a lot of meat to unpack in the lyrics that's counterbalanced by the shouted chorus: "And if I've got the power to take it (got the power to fake it)/Gennifer Flowers got the power to shake her debasement". Basically, I wanna see the musical this is from, and the fact this band has only a handful of singles is a crime. Thanks Sam!
4. The Hives - Tick Tick Boom
A classic garage rock tune that made its way onto a playlist I put together for Lehon'a's time in Shadowbringers. In my head this soundtracks the final fight with Emet-Selch, with Lehon'a lording her superiority over Emet in the lyrics: "Yeah, I was right all along/Yeah, you were tagging along/Exhibit A: on a tray, what you say as I throw it in your face/Exhibit B: what you see, well it's me I put you back in your place". And that main guitar riff and the iconic "tick tick tick tick tick tick tick BOOM" where everything cuts out just make this song.
5. The 8-Bit Big Band - Can You Feel The Sunshine? (originally from Sonic R)
This one is YouTuber Adam Neely's fault. I decided to rewatch his video on how Video Game Music has spawned its own jazz scene and how it fits into the culture of jazz at large, and this is one of the songs that he helps perform. Just from the snippets in the video, the main hook managed to get trapped in my brain, and now I'm obsessed. The original song is a fantastic eurobeat adjacent track, but this jazz version just adds some extra spice. I especially love the vocalist really showing off towards the end of the number. Highly recommend watching the YouTube video which shows all the performers in the studio playing (and the Adam Neely video too), it's super cool!
Tagging (though no pressure to do it if you're busy or otherwise don't wanna): @reversalsun @zylphiacrowley @ga-keaton @ferrocyan @gatheredfates and any other passers-by who wanna share some cool tunes!

♡ Well, my boyfriend's in the band
He plays guitar while I sing Lou Reed
I've got feathers in my hair
I get down to Beat poetry
And my jazz collection's rare
I can play most anything
I'm a Brooklyn baby ♡

 Shreveport's Municipal Auditorium October 16, 1954, Lousiana
"Mrs.Valmos... She'll be fine." Midge said, pulling out equipment from her boss's car.
"This isn't like from when she was 12 singing jazz..." Denise sighed, watching Cheryl Midge's "friend" pull out a White Falcone guitar, "Careful with that!" Denise rubbed her temples.
"Are you always this uptight..."
"Cheryl!" Midge hit the tall, shorthaired woman's arm.
"Are you always so... ill-mannered." Denise scoffed. Cherly rolled her eyes, watching the woman before her walk off,
"Midge..."
"Yes, Mrs. Valmos,"
"I'm going to talk to the promoters. Keep an eye out on Cecelia..."
"I'm not a babysitter-" Midge groaned, "And she's gone..."
"Which ones gone?" Cheryl asked,
"What do you mean which!?!"
The backstage was massive, the hustle and bustle of stagehands moving equipment and groups rehearsing in each corner. It was what being big time had felt like. At least, that's what everyone thought, especially Cecelia Shanel Valmos, a 19-year-old North Carolinian black woman. She had been performing with her mother since she was a little girl, but now Cecelia was 19 and old enough to understand the business, the way of the world, and a reminder that she wouldn't always be accepted,
"Oh, are you lost? The theatre cleaning staff went that way."
"No, I'm not lost, I'm performing to-"
"Did you hear that she thinks she got a chance!"
"Night..." she scoffed,
"Who do you think you are, girl...."
"Cecelia Shanel Valmos." Cecelia said, hands on the waist of her pink Chanel evening gown. "The daughter of Denise Valmos," the other woman laughed as Cecelia's face fumed with anger,
"Oh, I get it... the underprivileged colored section is over there." she pointed. Cecelia's face frowned as she ran off toward the other side of the stage.
"EP, are you ready yet ..."
"Just u-uh... combin' my hair!" he sighed. Elvis Presley, the guy hiding in the bathroom for God knows how long. In reality, he was trying to get rid of his stage fright, "Well, we're just gonna wait outside for ya!"
"You fella's go do that." If he didn't have a guitar strapped to his back, he'd have snuck out the window and run off, or worse, thrown up on his specially-made Beale Street suit.
"Come on, you just sang at The Eagles Nest last night..." he took a deep breath, "We're gonna go out there, sing to those folks, and make somethin of this," he said, trying to pep himself up, he took one more deep and finale breath as Elvis walked out the bathroom, he felt someone run into him. Catching each other. Before the other person fell,
"Hey, are you okay,"
Time stood still as Cecelia stood paralyzed by his hypnotic, captivating blue eyes,
The man was beautiful, and her heart was pounding in her ears.
"Wow..."
"Wow yourself, mama..." he winked at her as she giggled.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to bump into you." Cecelia took a deep breath as she looked down at her shoes.
"I should be sorry. I've got a big ass guitar on my back." Elvis laughed, Cecelia's heart beating faster as she smiled back at him. He took a glance at her as his face turned bright red. She was beautiful with her hair pulled back. And her smile. Her kissable red lips and- No, he couldn't think of her like that. He already had a girl back in Memphis. Besides, he didn't even know her name, "Say, what's your name..." he asked as she was surprised. Could it be a nice person finally on this good fall night?
"Depends on who's askin daddy-o." she winked as he smirked. She was a cool chick, and he could tell.
" Elvis Presley." he stuck out his hand,
"Cecelia Shanel Valmos you forgot your guitat!" Midge shouted, out of breath,
"As in Denise Valmos... The jazz singer..."
"That's me." She took hold of his hand as he kissed it.
"I'm in the presence of music royalty." Midge watched the two interact. It was as if they were both each other's forbidden fruit,
"Oh, me! No..." she laughed,
"Well, Mama has all your mama's records an-"
"E We're on!"
"Oh shit... I mean, shoot..."
"You'll do great!" she shouted to him, Waving as she'd soon be on the same stage after him. A little swoon left her lips.
"Who's the dreamboat..." Midge smirked,
"What dreamboat?" Cecelia said the two walking to get her into place.
"The one you were talking to." Midge looked at her, "Tall, dark, and handsome if you like men." she whispered,
"He's a friend.
"Just a few weeks ago, a young man from Memphis, Tennessee, recorded a song on the Sun label."
Cecelia peeped from behind, stage right. He looked like he was shaking like a leaf. "Uh uh, no Cece..." Midge sighed. She knew that look on her face. It was her overtly cocky face, her I'm going to impress him face.
" He is only nineteen years old. He has a new, distinctive style. Elvis Presley."
He would have disappeared into himself that night with how scared he was.
"Let's give him a hand. Elvis, how are you this evening?"
"Just fine. How're you, sir?"
"Are you all geared up with your band--"
"I'm all geared up."
"To let us hear your songs?"
"Uh, well, I'd just like to say how happy we are to be down here. It's a real honor for us to get a chance to appear on the Louisiana Hayride. We're gonna do a song for ya--you got anything else to say?"
"No, I'm ready!"
"We're gonna do a song for ya, we got out on Sun Records. It goes something like this.' Elvis sang That's Alright Mama."
"Isn't that, that song you play repeatedly ..." Cecelia was mesmerized by his voice, guitar playing, and his hips especially, he was a star in the making, and she could see it if no one else could,
"Hey, Midge... Denise wants to see you."Cheryl said, taking her by the hand.
"How'd I do out there."
"You could improve a bit." she smirked, "But you were great."
"Well, I'd like to see you try." Elvis joked,
"Up next, she's under the colored label Paradise Records. Also nineteen years old, she's the daughter of the Jazz singer Denise Valmos. We have Ms. Cecelia Valmos."
Cecelia walked onto the stage, nervous but ready,
"What will you be singing..."
"My new hit song, Money Honey."
"Quite the song for a young lady like you?"
"It is, but I wanted to try something different."
"We'd like to hear it."
Tunning her guitar, her mother was in the front row furious. This was the song Denise told her not to sing, but here she was about to sing on the radio and in a room full of people who she knew never heard the song before.
You know, the landlord rang my front doorbell
I let it ring for a long, long spell
I went to the window,
I peeped through the blind,
And asked him to tell me what's on his mind
He said,
Money, honey, uh uh
Money, honey
Money, honey, if you want to get along with me
Looking to the side of the stage, she spotted Elvis, who was mesmerized. She did her job, from the sway of her hips to the plucking on her guitar strings. Elvis Presley was enchanted. "She could command me anyday he mumbled,
Well, I've learned my lesson and now I know
The sun may shine and the winds may blow
The men may come and the men may go,
But before I say I love you so, I want
Money, honey, uh uh
Money, honey
Money, honey,
If you want to get along with me
"You were amazin out there, Cece."
"You think so El..." she asked, her brown eyes sparkling under the lights.
"Yeah, couldn't take my eyes off ya."
"Neither could I..."
"Say you wanna join my friends and I. We're going to a diner just up the street,"
"I... Don't know-"
"CECELIA!" her mother shouted,
" On second thought, I change my mind."

Attoye Normal AU HeadCanons
Attuma Xoc Almehen - 26 - Yucatec Mayan
Okoye Achebe - 28 - Zimbabwean
Okoye was working in real estate when they first met and Attuma was studying Marine Biology but worked Part-Time as a Gym Instructor.
Attuma rides a motorcycle and has taken Okoye for a ride on the back of it. He puts his helmet on her head and takes her around the corner. She hates it. It’s awful. Now she calls it a death machine and Attuma has to be extra careful while riding it. Because if he crashes, she'll make him sell it.
Okoye loves jazz readings and poetry nights, which is great because Attuma writes poems and plays guitar.
Attuma watches soap operas/ Telenovelas but doesn’t want anyone to know; He used to watch them with his mother growing up in Yucatán. He’s sensitive and loves rom-coms and reality TV too. Attuma absolutely DOESNT cry at the end of The Fault in Our Stars, there was dust in his eye…
Okoye occasionally watches them with him, mostly because she loves to sit in his lap while he yells in Spanish at the Television. She has been secretly taking Spanish lessons online and learning and one day she chimes in to surprise him.
“Josephina! She caught the bullet with her hands! Órale!”
“Que? Now She is poisoning Senor Gonzales? Estúpido! Doesn’t she know Carlos is her real father??”
A shocked silence rolls over them both. Okoye just hopes he would find it funny, even if she sounded ridiculous.
Why is he crying? “Mi corazón! Enamorada de ti…” he is sobbing and crushing her in his arms.
“So I said it right?” “Yes! You did so good!”
Attuma thinks it’s so amusing when she randomly curses in Spanish.
“Esra taco está de puta madre.” She says under her breath at the table and he bursts into laughter. “I’m glad you like it, I guess??” He'll say.
Attuma likes it when she calls him ‘Papi’. He likes it a lot.
“Attuma, come here please!”
“One second, Ko! What the fuck!? That was in!” He’s watching soccer, but she needs him to come taste this new recipe she’s trying.
“Papi, come here and eat this!”
She doesn’t hear anything for a moment and then, quick heavy steps until he’s in the doorway. He looks her up and down then to what she’s doing. “What did you say?”
“I said come try this.” She lied.
“No, you didn’t. You said ‘come eat you’. You called me Papi. Them is 'fucking words'.”
“Come try this damn asada!”
“I’m not hungry for that. Bend over the counter.”
“Attuma!”
Okoye sends him dirty pictures while he's at work or often with friends. Before she moved in with him, he would have to endure her sending him racy photos in her underwear or suggestive selfies.
One time, she did it and he got tired of it.
She sent him a picture of her in new lingerie and watches as his text bubble pops up and down repeatedly.
Then
Incoming Call: Attuma 😘
"Hello?"
"Open the door."
She learned her lesson that night.
Their first date:
Attuma planned everything. With the help of their friend group.
He made dinner reservations and a beautiful walk through the botanical gardens and then he'd have Namor drive his range so he wouldn't have to worry about parking.
The reservations fell through, so they had to get take out food instead.
Namor got a flat on the way to pick them up from the gardens, he was waiting for M'baku to pick him up now.
and it was pouring rain. They were stranded in the pouring rain.
He and Okoye were soaked and he nearly cried thinking about how the night was ruined.
"It's okay, Tuma! This has been great still!"
"But it wasn't supposed to be like this, Ko! It was supposed to be perfect..."
They found slight shelter under a tree, and she comforted him. Pressing soft kisses into his cheek while he kicked at the rocks in front of him.
"I'm sorry, Ko..."
"Don't be. Listen, I like you and I love that you put so much effort into today... I don't even care that my hair is wet!"
"Really?" "Of course... sorta. But the rain isn't your fault."
They sat in silence for a moment.
"Y'know..." Okoye starts. "I've never had a kiss in the rain..."
Attuma doesn't respond just stands up and takes her hand in his, walking out into the rain. When he stops, she goes to ask how he wants to do it and her feet have left the ground.
The world stops when he holds her up in his arms and kisses her. And she feels like a princess! She thinks the violins she hears might be in her imagination... but she doesn't care.
His hands, gently in her hair, hers upon his chest. Attuma smiles and glances toward the sky which promises more rain to come, thunder like a round of applause for love and romance.
She takes a moment to appreciate the rain rolling down his neck and off his stubbled jaw.
He pulls back and sets her down gently. He lets out a small laugh and she knows it's because she's awestruck at how perfect he looks, soaked in rain.
"I'll make it up to you, Ko. We can have another first date."
"No."
"N-no? Wha-"
"This was perfect."
