People who come away from the high school musical movies thinking Sharpay wasn't the villain of the series are a very good example of media illiteracy.

I think most stories could benefit from having two characters whose relationship is just "those two guys" (gender neutral). Most of the time if you look for one of them you'll find both of them. They can hate each other or be the best of friends or something in-between but they just can't find that same spark with anyone else. Their relationship is best described as "do not separate them". They are fully fleshed out characters individually but if either of them are left alone without the other for any reason it feels so wrong.

a surprising number of people I've talked to didn't know this about ao3, so if you are not on ao3:
you don't need an ao3 account to access the site
you don't need an ao3 account to comment on a fic

I was a Nesta girl from the first moment she showed up. I saw a mean older sister, knew we were supposed to hate her, and simply decided not to.

Absolutely the best part of Roy being Phoebe's football coach was him acting like he normally does and treating it 100% seriously and all of them listening to him looking like this

when two people have been tragically separated for ages, for years, maybe even thinking the other is dead, and they suddenly- accidentally - end up in the same place and they see each other and maybe first think they're dreaming but then they realize it's not a dream and they scramble to get to each other as fast as they can and nearly knock each other over as they crash into each other desperate to hold the other again after so long

Fics where a character gets magically turned into their younger/child selves with no memory of their adult self and everyone around them has to help take care of the child and in the process learn about their traumatizing childhood and/or realize just how much the adult self has gone through in their life my beloved

I was talking about this with my mom, who 1) is a younger sibling who never once thought about this and 2) never knew I ever thought about this.
You get bonus points if you imagined taking care of them on the streets.

I hate fics where Alicent and Rhaenyra talk and Alicent tells her she was afraid Rhaenyra would hurt her children and Rhaenyra's like "I would never do something like that why would you think that?" And Alicent only goes "oh good, it was just my father trying to scare and manipulate me!"
Where's the fic where Rhaenyra says "I would never do something like that" and Alicent says "Your kid literally stabbed my child's eye out and you not only made sure Viserys focused only on you and your thing but also wanted my child to be tortured for it"
Edit: if it wasn't clear by the tags and the argument of the post itself, I am Pro Alicent Hightower. Making an argument of "But Alicent did this-" isn't relevant and won't sway me. Please shut the fuck up about it.

Not to combine or compare wildly different shows but Alicent should have gotten with Viserys what Simon from Bridgerton got with his dad.
A scene with the patriarch on his death bed, asking for his final wish to be recognized (Rhaenyra on the throne/Simon's dad's bloodline to continue).
Only for the victims of their abuse to tell them in their final moments that their wishes will Not come true. That they will be enacting their own desires and spitting in the face of everything their abusers have ever wanted. And the final words they ever say to their abusers being something that their abuser told them, twisting their words and spitting it back in their face.

Two things that stand out during Jamie's emotional breakdown: one, Roy's noticeable struggle to switch from how he was just acting with Jamie to comforting him (the way he asks "what is... wrong?") and two, Roy nodding comfortingly in understanding when Jamie says he's tired in that voice.

Jiang Cheng is stronger than me because if some guy I hated decided it was his responsibility to discipline my child and did so by magically silencing him I would have attacked him right then and there.
