#i'm really wondering about the 40 episodes limit

Ok, let me start this thing then!! *Cracks knuckles*
Four questions for you!
Favorite secondary character?
Who do you think died too soon?
Best case episode
If you could change one thing from supernatural...
Oh, yay! This is wonderful, thank you.
Fave would have to be Benny, I guess. I'm a sucker for that Southern charm & swagger. Good ol' boy kindness but he's also a killer? Sign me up. Add in the whole "losing the fight against his bloodlust" + "abandoned by his comrade-in-arms" (looking at you here, Dean) and then, finally, "sacrifices himself heroically"? Not once but twice? Yeah, I'm here for that. (A very close runner-up would be tough, no-nonsense Ellen Harvelle, though. Or Donna!)
Victor Henriksen died waaay too soon. He was smart, charismatic, scary as hell, & just an all-around badass. I actually wanted to see him dogging the trail of the Winchesters a lot longer. (Although he would've be awesome as an ally, too!)
Hmm... Gonna exclude Nightshifter & Folsom Prison Blues just so I can talk about something other than how awesome Agent Henriksen was again. Also, funny episodes always trump non-funny ones, so I'm gonna set those aside, too, and go for straight "interesting case dynamics unfolding over the course of the episode" with S6:E13's "Unforgiven" (the one where Sam is having flashbacks to stuff that Soulless!Sam did on that same case while they're trying to solve it). I'm usually biggest into mytharc episodes, but the personal aspects tying into the case just upped the stakes like crazy there.
If I could change one thing about Supernatural... Ugh. That's so hard. I've written before about how the 40-minute, 22-episode-season format limited the writers' ability to dive deeper into some of the personal character drama stuff. (But, conversely, a streaming-length season would've been limiting in other ways, as the Supernatural Then & Now podcast recently touched on a couple of times, most notably in their interviews with Robert Wisdom & Kurt Fuller.) Sooo... if I could only change one thing, it'd have to be a structural thing, not a singular plot point or character arc. And I wouldn't nix the existing format, because doing so would make it a very different show (like, I don't think we'd recognize that version of Supernatural at all), but I would give the show a double-length episode every season at the mid-season or end-of-season finale. That would give the writers enough breathing room to actually deal with some of the personal/emotional aspects of the story that occasionally got dropped just cuz they couldn't fit it in. They could resolve (or at least flesh out) things like the false voicemail in season 4; show what happened to the Samulet after it revealed God; explore Sam's headspace more between seasons 7 & 8; have some consequences to Dean's drinking; and actually show us more of the relationship-building/relationship-repairing that went on between Dean & Mary and (especially after her death) Dean & Jack. [It's implied, but IMO, it really needs to be seen.]
(That last answer is a bit of a cheat, sorry! If I had to pick one in-story thing to change, I guess I'd go with giving more time to Dean & Jack's relationship. Sam had enough history with Dean that anything unresolved between them was eventually overwritten/rebalanced with enough good things to basically set them straight, but Dean's time with Jack was so limited that every misstep there, every time Dean played out his intergenerational trauma by taking his anger out on Jack, man, it was like a knife to the chest. And I think Jack got it, y'know? Eventually, at least. He figured out that some of that anger was just Dean struggling with his pain. But, yeah... I'd give a lot to have been able to see them getting to a place of peace together.)

In case you missed it...
Soooo I did actually mean to make this as a separate post weeks ago but a joyful combination of life stuff, the 'rona and a healthy dollop of ADHD got in the way 😂 So, in case you missed this announcement in the S02 Q&A or the posts for that episode:
Season Three will be the final season of Monstrous Agonies!
I had always planned MA to be about three seasons long, for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, MA is (and was designed intentionally to be) a very formulaic programme with a very rigid structure. That structure has been wonderful in a lot of ways, and was a conscious choice to make sure I wasn't biting off more than I could chew in terms of sound design and so on. But with structure comes limits - there's a relatively hard limit on how much I can do with the show without breaking exactly what it is that makes it unique. I mean, you all might not mind if MA suddenly pivoted to hour-long episodes and full-on red string theory plots and shenanigans... but I'd mind 😂
There's also the fact that by the time we're done there's be 111 full episodes, almost all with two letters each. I don't want to risk getting repetitive or treading over old ground - there's really only so many ways you can say, "Listener, have you tried... talking about it"!
Finally, on a purely personal level, I'd like to do something else! I have two other projects in the works, experimenting with different ideas and themes as well as moving into a different writing style and structure.
OK, so what does this mean in practice?
Well, I'm not going anywhere for one thing! This isn't the end of me making podcasts, and I certainly won't be abandoning the MA social media accounts or website. I'm not sure yet what my online presence will look like as I start on other projects, but I'll be around and creating and wanting to hear from you all 🥰
I've just (literally today) done up a wee timeline for S03, and it looks like it should finish around the middle of July 2023. That's 40 episodes, split into 5 chunks of 8, with a week off between each chunk. Of course, life will inevitably get in the way and it's likely there'll be other weeks off in that time, but just to give you an idea.
In terms of submissions for S03, I am going to have a look at the submissions guidelines and work out something around repeat/multiple submissions so's to allow new listeners/first time submitters a good chance of having their submissions used. Again, not sure exactly what that'll look like yet, but I'll keep you posted.
I hope all that makes sense! If you have any questions, fire away 😘

it is wild seeing how little some characters have been on the show so far this year. i don't know if this is because of cast size or whatever, but they used to be able to balance it out better. vinny has only had 19 apperances this year which is very little especially in comparison to his past couple of years. it's like they don't know that to do with him after liv's death. and then you have characters like victoria who have only been on 15 episodes, while jacob and david have been on 23 eps so far and half of the year is almost up. it gets to the point where i wonder why some characters even exist if the writers aren't going to give them any screentime or ever focus on them. it's also frustrating because many of these characters with very limited screentime have potential but they're often just background characters.
So I looked up everyone's episode counts and I kind of surprised me that the highest was still only in about half of the episodes this year so far. I think we're at around 100 episodes because they seemingly stopped counting Thursdays as 2 episodes now that it's a full hour. So Charity, with 54, has been in just over half with Caleb right behind her with 50. And then you've got someone like Moira who feels like she was in a lot more, in only 28, whereas someone like Dawn who has 25 or Manpreet with 26 feel like they've barely been in the show this year. I guess it depends on who has had an actual story or who's just been floating around, supporting other stories. Like Arthur and Marshall are only in 28/26 episodes but they've had an actual story so I feel like they've been in it more (or at least more meaningfully) than say Sam with 27 episodes.
But yeah those "under 20" people, Vic and Vinny and Billy and Dan and Ethan (what happened to Ethan?) definitely fall into the category of the producers having no clue what to do with them. And the low 20s people too: Manpreet, Dawn, Jacob, David, Nate, Lydia, Eric etc. At least Jimmy and Belle have story now with Tom although I still cannot understand what they're doing with Tom's story because, while I'm glad it doesn't seem like he has some secret dark agenda, it also kind of feels like they just brought him back to react to past storylines that happened in his absence or before his time. It's very strange. But maybe it will get them all screen time. Who knows.
I don't know if it is the cast size that's preventing people from getting more screen time, or just them not knowing what to do with them. I'm sure it's a bit of both. That and just not showing work places or every day life or just generally not showing people unless they're very specifically involved in a story. It does seem like a problem they need to solve for. I can definitely think of several characters you could cull: Wendy, Nate, Will, David, Jacob, Dan, Amelia, Suzy, Chloe (although they complicated that with Rueben being Mack's kid). Naomi's already leaving but Ethan barely exists and I know they're bringing in Charles' mom now but as much as I thought they all had potential when they first arrived, they really haven't done much with them and I wouldn't mind just starting over there either. But as much as maybe they need to get rid of characters to bring more balance, I'd also kind of want to get rid of that lot and then bring in some new, better characters. Get someone new to take over the shop. Meet that family that supposedly took over Wiley's farm. I just feel like the show needs an injection of some actual life in it and you know...Wendy and Liam's affair isn't really doing that, nor whatever they're maybe doing with Bear and Mandy (*shudders*).
Charity - 54 Caleb - 50
Marlon - 49 Nicky - 48 Paddy - 46 Chas - 44 Bernice - 44 Gabby - 44 Rhona - 44 Mack - 43 Mandy - 41 Cain - 40 Naomi - 40
Kim - 37 Leyla - 37 Bob - 36 Amy - 36 Nicola - 35 Bear - 35 Noah - 34 Chloe - 33 Laurel - 33 Mary - 32 Will - 31 Charles - 31 Liam - 30 Wendy - 30 Brenda - 30
Moira - 28 Amelia - 28 Arthur - 28 Sam - 27 Cathy - 27 Jai - 26 Marshall - 26 Matty - 26 Manpreet - 26 Dawn - 25 Nate - 24 Belle - 23 David - 23 Jacob - 23 April - 23 Lydia - 22 Jimmy - 21 Eric - 21 Suzy - 21 Sarah - 20
Vinny - 19 Samson - 19 Kyle - 18 Heath - 17 Ethan - 16 Victoria - 15 Billy - 14 Rodney - 12 Tom - 11 Rishi - 11 Dan - 11
Zak - 8 Ryan - 6 Elliot - 5 Angelica - 3

After like five yrs I finally watched SU:Future and the last episode of Steven Universe myself— turns out I actually stopped right before the last episode, which is weird cuz I thought I had missed a whole season, but yh.
But anyways I wasn't blessed enough to not see all the socmed posts abt it— in fact I watched it cuz of the sort of SU renaissance last month —but why did everyone make it out that the memes making fun of the ending were wrong? The plot was exactly as what was claimed. Now I'm getting flashbacks to the LandlordCap diskhorse, cuz it feels like ppl are claiming that detractor's reading of the text is wrong when said reading is flatly correct & the actual unspoken objections are whether the text is enjoyable as an audience member or not
Like with the amount of posts being like "Steven actually HATES the diamonds and fantasizes and even attempts to murder White!" I thought that the sunshine boy protagonist somehow underwent a drastic change, but no he's still sunshine boy— and to be clear, He should still be sunshine boy, that's not a problem at all! —but when I watched the actual arc, the context got totally erased by ppl who think they were "defending" the show but we're actually mischaracterizing it severely. Steven's anger get framed as a mixture of trauma and superpowered pubescent identity crisis that— in the most literal sense —turns him into a raging monster and gets heals through the power of his family's love, which includes the Diamonds hugging him until they all cry and go back to normal. But the way ppl acted, I though Steven was gonna get revenge— for himself or others —but no it's framed as a horrific impulse that was a sign of his descent into madness that he needed help with.
Idk why there were sm many posts misrepresenting the arc when there could be posts wondering why tf the series puts sm onus into Rose/Pink— and that's not to say she didn't do things ppl should be mad at her for, but if we're gonna play relativity games.. then why did the other Diamonds get a series of quirky fun cutesy hobbies while the mere mention of Rose puts the characters on their toes? —And also why did SU: Future completely flatten every non-Steven character? In the main series the "side" characters often had the most personality and growth, but in SU:F they're so flat and dull and effectively lampshaded for Steven crying hour redux. I can see why SU:F wasn't really a hit.
Amd also with the surviving CG's (especially Bismuth) making such a big desk about their friends and comrades lost in the war, you'd think uncorrupting the Crystal Gems would introduce a wide and expansive cast for SU:Future, but they have no character either and the surviving CGs act like they're just acquaintences at best. Seems like a waste of a Future spinoff, and that's saying smth bc the mainline show— in light of getting cut 40 episodes short —wasted a whole episode of their limited schedule just for Watermelon Steven making a phone call from prison.
And— now I'm just thinking about other potential content —you know what else could make for like a flashback or something, smth abt Who made the Diamonds. Or at least White Diamond cuz maybe she made Blue and Yellow. I always headcanon'ed that an advanced organic civilization invention the gem lifeform and created White, but either their civ died out or she killed them or White's creation drained their entire planet's resources and accidentally self-destructed them, and then White perhaps created the others by draining entire other planets for one gem. Whatever the case, I'm sure it's canon that Pink was a later creation cuz she was entirely unfamiliar with organic life, but it would've been cool to see confirmation about White's origins and who made her.
who is this. why are you sending me a whole novel

Thirty Nine - Too little, too late
Marketed as a womance drama, Thirty-Nine tells the story of three women who are about to turn 40 and their enduring friendship with each other as they deal with life, love, and an untimely passing. At least that's how I interpreted it from the onset.
The few episodes had me already bothered by the amount of screen time being given to the male characters, until it seemed to obsessively wrap around the love interest of one of the female leads, Cha Mijo, to the point that a good chunk of the show was focused on his family, his sister and his father. Enough for me to wonder if the writer liked the guy so much to devote so many scenes.
I watched on, hoping for a change when maybe Jung Chanyoung's life will take a predictable turn for the worse. But I just failed to see that involvement in what ought to have been the main plot. The plot was splintered and its priorities are mixed up. As kfangurl said in her review, it's a drama about Mijo who happened to have 2 friends.
I felt so let down because I hyped this show so much and I thought even if the writing is not up to par, maybe I'll just enjoy seeing the girls together. But there wasn't enough screen time for the three women together far beyond the superficial things friends do like going out, teasing, and bickering at each other. In the end I still wonder about their bonding. Are they really truly friends? There Must be more to their lives than their men?
I ought to be thrilled because I'm obviously watching for Son Yejin but acting can only do so much when the writing and the direction force them into lackluster situations that fail to show progress or growth. There are so many character decisions in the first half that made me question the credibility of the narrative, mainly how they handled Chanyoung's condition. And later on, despite Jang Joohee's lament of being left behind, she still is verily rendered a support character, outshone by the others, even by Cha Mijo's male lead (who is always there to a point of suffocation.) In the end, everything seems the same, save for a missing character.
The finale is probably the strongest episode of the drama as Chanyoung is succumbing to her disease. We finally see the girls coming together to do the most for their friend and the drama finally allotted time for them as they should have done from the start. It showed haunting realizations about what it's like to approach a loved one's death closely and live with it day by day. But I'm afraid it's too little and too late for a drama that wasted a lot of time from episodes 1 to 11. In effect, they misspent the potential. They already had 3 incredible powerful women leads, a casting coup. Yet their characters and situations suffered from the writing, the plot holes, and fragmented repetitive scenes - the obsession with side stories and coincidences that are far too heavily handled. The story's strongest asset was the three girls and I wish the drama stayed true to its marketing promise that it was gonna revolve around them, more than anyone else. But it was distracted most of the time.
Of course the final scenes were poignant, thanks to the combined performances of Yejin, Mido, Jihyun, Musaeng and Chanyoung's parents. But I wish I were more immersed, less unbothered, more trusting of the story enough to suspend all my misgivings about it. Instead, I watched with the baggage and struggles I've had from episodes 1 to 11. I was exhausted by the time the finale came.
I'm still happy the drama did well in the ratings and the 3 female leads deserve nothing but accolades given the limitations mentioned. But I'm gonna write this drama off as something that could have been far greater and mourn that it wasn't.

#Psychologist was a pretty amazing drama. I was really excited by what they did right. I loved the psychological aspects and how those cases translated to real help with advice on how to get help if you're in one of those situations which I thought was a great idea. I totally love #YangZi, in later episodes when she opens up she is to cute and her friendship with #JianRenZi's character is absolutely adorable!!!!!The two ML's, #JingBoRan and #JevonWang were pretty good but I liked Jevon Wang's character better in later episodes especially with his mother. Yang Zi and Bo Ran were such a fun couple and I love how their relationship developed. Jian Ren Zi, who is an amazingly beautiful woman, was such a great addition to the cast and so fun to watch I'm just wondering why she doesn't have more lead roles! The story was very good and kept me captivated until the very end. Now let's talk about the ending. Unfortunately I have a feeling that this was one of several dramas that more than likely had more episodes but had to be edited down because of new rules by the Chinese government limiting dramas to a max of 40 episodes. I have seen a few more dramas that seemed that they edited the story a bit but the last episode of this one was obviously cut short as it left quite a bit of the story unresolved. It would have taken several more episodes to really put closure on all of the storylines but as is leaves people with a lot of questions. With that being said I think they did their best playing within the framework of those new rules to add as much closure as they could. This kind of thing will probably happen to only dramas that were being filmed while the new rules were put in place and shouldn't happen later. I would still definitely recommend this as I think it's totally a worthwhile watch 😁

bestie if there was a way to fight your sleep schedule i would do that for you >:(
oh wow yeah !!! lurking and typing in the chat is just. my entire vc experience shdklfjdsf. either that, or sitting entirely still and breathing as lightly as possible so i don't make any sound, but it still looks like i have my mic unmuted.
!!! right. "*waves goodbye like im some woman with a hat in the 1920's watching my lover leave on a boat* farewell jatp hyperfixation! may you return to me soon with many gifts including but not limited to a GODDAMN SEASON 2." FHSDKLFJLSDF I LOVE THAT. SO MUCH. that is exactly what i'm going to be thinking of if/when i ever change my pfp-
it's honestly a little scary how much some people write fhsdkljf. how??? so technically. i've published one (1) fic, for jatp. but unofficially, i have a bunch of google docs for a lot of different fandoms. i wrote stuff for jatp, tua, marvel, kotlc, and probably a lot more but i either forgot them or they're kind of embarrassing so <3 i swear though, i'm writing a marvel fic now-ish and i wILL FINISH THIS ONE. and i'm also planning a jatp x tsoa au, and then in general i'd just like to have more. substance fhsdkljf.
OH MY GOD !!!! DUDE DUDE DUDE. that sounds wonderful and the vibes !!!! incredible. "i'd definitely have a few bookshelves and i'd organize the books so they're not all vertical so they look *aesthetic* and then i'd put some lil fake plants everywhere and i'd put fairy lights EVERYWHERE" THIS!!! SO MUCH AESTHETIC. i love everything about your bedroom holy shit <3
i have never heard that motivational saying but good gOD that's stupid. jesus that's just ???? so stupid wtf.
YES YES YES YES YES !!! i love writing, i really do, and when you can just GO and write the hell out of something. even if you never publish it!! it's still just. so fun and cool.
hfsdljfskd that is certainly a list /lh. the only reason i can talk is that i never write tv shows down, i just forget them all *lip bite* (that was. something, and not a good something fjsd). !!!!! i've heard of all of those, except elementary, and they apparently are all very good! i'm going to write those down on one app and then forget where i put the list and. hence why i never watch anything lmao
i've been meaning to watch,,,, uhhhh. atypical, toh, criminal minds, finish b99. and a lot more i just can't remember them. are most of them just bc that's what my mutuals have watched? mAybe but so what- i swear i do have original ideas. sometimes. maybe.
oh damn,, idk. movies are really cool because there's more of a Vibe, and they're definitely easier for me to watch. and it's pretty incredible what people can fit into a one to two hour film. but tv shows are great for something more casual? and i feel like it's much easier to find a fandom for a show than a movie. idk. there's probably a limit, i'm just not sure what it is yet. something with over ten seasons would definitely be less appealing than something with 2 or 3. i'd say 40 min episodes, because it's easier to have a story with more time, and it hopefully wouldn't be rushed. and it feels more substantial? or less like "oh man i watched 30 episodes in one sitting jesus cHRIST".
i think a forest. the idea of being stranded in mountains feels a little scary ngl, and while there is a lot of shelter, that's also a lot of climbing. so maybe not best for survival, and i also don't know where to get food on a mountain. island sounds nice, but i think a forest would be cooler :)
if you could have any job, even if it isn't something that's an actual job (like tumblr blogger, etc) what would you choose? would YOU rather be stranded on an island, in a forest, or in the mountains? if you made a tone indicator that doesn't exist already, what would it be? do you have any pet peeves? - 🌵
hfsdfjsfl thanks you and me both bestie <3
oh my god no i do that too!! i dont want ppl to like. notice that im muted or anything so im just. silent like 'do not perceive me"
dude i've changed my pfp a bunch and it feels so weird like jatp i love you but- ????? sdfjejsdigisjkf
JATP TSOA ??? BESTIE YOU OWN MY HEART??? YOU WILL BREAK IT ???? you break jules heart?? you break it like the *shit whats a thing you break* mirror during an angsty movie scene??
thank you if only it could be a thing lmao <3
yeah it's real dumb. im very tired
yeah exactly!! like just the feelings of words pouring out of you so fast so fast is just amazing and so satisfying.
LIP BITE SDFGSGHSDLKJFSDKLFJSLDF PLEASE. ok no that's such a mood though, writing it down and then forgetting where you wrote it. literally i just remembered today i had a list of movies i've been meaning to watch. and then i found 3 separate notes because apparently i kept forgetting lol.
ahhhh omg cm!! criminal minds is pretty good and omg b99 my BELOVED!! can't really speak to the other ones but i've heard they're good so :D
yeah that definitely makes sense, tv shows are for sure more casual. in a weird way movies sometimes feel like more commitment? even though shows are technically longer lol. LMAO something over ten seasons... bestie do not watch criminal minds there are 15... yeah 40 minute episodes are great!!! i feel like also it really depends on the vibe of the show!! like if there was a 40 minute sitcom episode i don't think i'd be able to watch it.
oooooh omg forest yes that's so valid. a forest would definitely be cooler :D
i would choose to be an Emotional Support Jules™. my only purpose would literally just be to vibe around whoever hires me and give them hugs and positive energy. im portable and i can travel with them if they pay for my plane ticket :D batteries sold separately
huh idk being stranded anywhere is very scary but uhh. forest so maybe we could be in the same forest and we could find mushrooms together!!
ooooh a tone indicator that doesn't exist. hmmm. i don't know if this counts for tone but maybe just like /v and /a when venting about something, /v for just venting without wanting advice and /a for when you do want advice? just so people know how to respond.
dude i have so many pet peeves and uhhh. i forget every single one of them. im sorry bestie.
questions for you: what would your ideal job be, even if it's not an "official" job? would you rather have a mattress that is too hard or too soft? your thoughts on country music? do you enjoy icebreakers? if you didn't have to sleep, would you still choose to?

"I'm Taking Ben With Me!"
Tuesday 17th November 2020
Hello again everyone! Hope you're all doing okay! Now this the episode that the majority of us have been anxiously waiting for! Is the robbery going to be a success? Or is something going to go horribly wrong and someone gets caught? I'm really looking forward to writing about this episode, something tells me it's going to be gripping and explosive!
The episode begins with Phil, Shirley, Ben, Kat and Kush all arriving at the Insurance building to make a start on their robbery. Phil instructs the group that he wants things to be over as quickly as possible, it makes sense that they shouldn't be there for as long as they specifically have to! He makes it perfectly clear they need to be in and out, end of! Kat informs them that the security guard won't be there until 8am, which really should leave them plenty of time! But then again is it 8am or 8pm? Who knows? I'm sure that will come to light as the episode goes on. They quickly go off in separate directions - Ben and Phil together, Shirley and Kat together and then Kush.
Ooooh, meanwhile back on the Square, Ian enters the Vic after calling the police about the robbery. The look on his face looks like guilt to me - maybe even dismay, jealousy, shock - maybe all of them rolled into one? Max once again calls out to him as he's sat in a booth, as to whether he's got the money to pay him back - Ian ignores him and turns around to see Sharon behind the bar approaching him, asking him where he had been, he ignores her also and makes his way upstairs of the Vic. Max and Linda giggle as they think he's giving everyone the silent treatment because of their actions earlier in the day, sneaking behind the bar and giving out free booze! As they giggle about Ian, Max is looking through Linda's portfolio of her idea of making superhero costumes for autistic children. Sharon watches them as they seem to get cosy. Max is complimenting Linda's work and pushing her to go for her new business plan, even though Linda admits she can't afford it, even if she did want to go ahead with it. Max then asks whether Mick knows, but Linda bows her head and admits that she hasn't told him yet, considering he's been going through a lot lately, she feels perhaps this isn't the right time to be informing him about her new idea. Max looks at her almost with sympathy, but it does look as if he's contemplating something - will he somehow give her the money to start her business? Will he end up helping her set it up? What do you guys think?!
Across the Square, Tina has packed her suitcase after overhearing Iqra and Ash talking about her moving out. She tries to reassure them that their decision is fine and that she completely understands, Iqra appears to be really sympathetic and Ash apologises for her finding out the way she did. When they ask where she's going to stay, Tina jokingly says "The park bench seems free!" - they look at her with shocked expressions but she reassures them that she'll be okay. But in all seriousness, where is she going to go? It's not like she can go back to the Vic, will Gray maybe take her in as he has with Shirley? Could she go and stay with Mick and Linda for a while until she finds her own place? I'd hate to see her be homeless!
At the police station, DI Thompson is playing the recording of Phil and Kat discussing their robbery, whilst Callum is also in the room hearing the discussion. Thompson pushes for Callum to inform him about what he knows, but Callum insists that that is the first time he's heard anything about it, he even insists that Ben wouldn't tell him anything like that! Thompson begins to get frustrated until a fellow officer rushes in telling them that they've had an anonymous tip-off about a robbery and the culprits disguised as cleaners. Thompson knows that that is where Phil and Ben are, he instructs Callum that no matter how he does it, he wants someone arrested! Callum begins to panic and we see him send a message to his boyfriend, warning him to get out of the building! But back at the Insurance company, Ben, Phil and Kush have found the parking lot with the expensive cars, Ben and Phil work separately on different cars whilst Kush stands and watches - he questions how he can help in any way, but they just inform him not to touch anything. Kush watches with a (quite a cute) smile - must be the adrenaline!
Returning to the Vic, Ian is starring into space, almost in a world of his own. Are the events of his actions running through his mind? Does he actually realise he's put his brother and his Dad in danger? Does he feel no shame or dismay?! As he sits alone, Lexi is stood in the doorway and calls him a "Snake!" - which takes Ian completely by surprise. I love little Lexi, she's such a superstar! She informs her Uncle that that is what her Dad calls him. As she continues to insult her Uncle further, Kathy appears and informs she'll be taking Lexi home shortly. As Lexi disappears, Kathy informs her son that she's come deliver his mail, Ian appears thankful to his Mother, she informs him that not everyone is against him, even though it must feel like it right now. She then shows him that one specific later that came was the first payment of the Cafe remortgage is due, suddenly Ian's face drops as his Mum asks him to take care of it, he then sheepishly asks her whether she can pay for it for the month and he'll start to pay from the following month. Kathy instantly looks really disappointed in her son, she questions whether that was his plan from the very beginning, put her into debt and then her be the one to pay it all back. Ian insists that that isn't the case and tries to explain that he needs a few weeks to sort things out - I think that Ian has got himself into something he can't control, he can't pay Max back, he can't pay his Mum back, he can't even pay for the remortgage payments. I think he's on a big downward spiral. Kathy refuses to pay for it and tells her son that it's on his shoulders, but just as she turns to walk away, Ian starts acting like a child and saying that she would do it for Ben - so he is! He's jealous of his brother! Is that it?! - He claims that Ben is the Golden Boy and can do no wrong, but when he drops the insult that she's an unpaid baby-sitter, Kathy hits back! She informs her son that she actually doesn't want paying to look after her granddaughter, because that's what families do!!! That's what Grandparents do! You'd think by now that Ian would understand the concept of "Family" instead of always focusing on money. Kathy states that she would've hoped that Ian would've had a conscience after everything he's done, but it looks like he well and truly hasn't got one!
Back at the parking lot in the Insurance building, Phil and Ben are attempting to jump-start the cars. Ben appears to get his car going pretty quickly as Phil is struggling with the wires of his car. Ben looks over and queries whether his Dad is having problems, but Phil is adamant he's almost got it working. Kush then asks whether he could help, but Phil insists that his only role is to get the gate open when they're ready to leave, but Kush checks they only have 40-odd minutes remaining. Kush makes the valid point that getting the gate open will only take him 5 minutes, Phil then passes Kush the crowbar, instructing him to get the last car working. As he does so, Kush once again gives Phil an excited smile, I do feel it must've been the adrenaline rush of the possibility of doing a successful robbery and the chance of getting a good amount of money at the end of it. Phil laughs and comments that the job they're doing now is much better than selling boob-tubes!
Returning to the Square and at the Prince Albert, Tina walks in with her suitcase to find Kathy drinking on her own. As she joins her, Kathy notices that she has her luggage with her, she informs the poor girl that she can't sleep in the bar again. Tina then comes to the realisation she'll have to bunk up with Shirley again. It's then that Kathy responds to her by telling her that she has family who care about her, Tina can see that Kathy is upset about something and asks what's wrong. Now whether it's the drink that causes her to spill the beans or whether she just needs someone to talk to, Tina pours her another glass of wine and promises not to say a word to anyone, Kathy confides in her colleague about Ian committing fraud by forging her signature and re-mortgaging the Café, much to Tina's shock.
Back at the Vic, as Ian quickly sneaks out into the back in the background, Sharon is at the front and appears to be on the phone to a solicitor, she's informing them that she's knows what is owed to her and what Phil's solicitor is offering can think again about their offer. Ahhh, it's all coming to light now! Max has approached Bobby and is trying to convince him to change the age on his leaflet, and the only reason that Max has done that is so Linda can apply for her business idea. Bobby seems doubtful at first as his thought process is that his sister would want the opportunity to go to someone who was her age, but Max tries to push him to change the age limit, as that way there would be more applications from older ladies. Bobby asks Sharon for her advice, seeing as she and Max are both trustees for Bobby's charity, and she voices her opinion - on what good it'll do for Max? But he insists he's just doing right with a business attitude. Suddenly Linda appears and asks them what she's missed and when she realises that Bobby has agreed to change the age limit on his applicants, Max smiles at her and Linda instantly knows that he's done that for her. She thanks him for helping her and she starts to wonder how she'll make a start on her new business plan, however she needs to send in the application first - what if she's not successful?! She's getting in a bit over her head isn't she? Well Max also?! Or is it written in the stars - she'll apply and she'll get the money to start her new business. Max encourages Linda to call her husband and tell him the good news, however she seems reluctant to do so. As Max approaches the bar to get them another drink, Sharon confronts him head on - she knows what he's up to and warns him to stay away from her, even though Max plays dumb, Sharon can see right through him and warns him that she is her best mate and doesn't want her ruining her marriage to Mick, she doesn't want their marriage ending in divorce - she states that Mick and Linda are meant for each other. Max tries to reassure the blonde vixen that he and Linda are just friends, so she has nothing to worry about. But Sharon gives him one last warning, she'll be watching him from a distance!
Back at the parking lot, Kush successfully manages to break into the car, he seems so proud of himself and so excited, once he knows that he has managed to get into the car, Phil sets things in motion, for them to get into their cars ready to driver off and he instructs Kush to get the gate open. However, when Kush goes over the gate and types in the code, nothing happens. He tries for a second time and once again, nothing happens - has Kat given them the wrong code?! Or is he simply putting in the wrong code?! I don't know whether you guys noticed but the final digit of the code looks like either the number 6 or the letter B (In lower case) - Kush only types in the number 6, something is telling me that he's simply typing it in wrong and it actually is the lower-case B. But I could be wrong, maybe Kat has got the code wrong. Kush looks over to Phil and Ben in a slight realisation of panic that they might not be able to get out. Meanwhile, Kat and Shirley are trying their best to clean the offices, well Kat is however, whereas Shirley is being typical Shirley and is casually sat whilst Kat does all the work. As Kat asks her to make more of an effort, Shirley declines and Kat is quick to announce that she's done good when it's come to the robbery plan. Suddenly, a member of staff comes into the office and finds her and Shirley there.
Ian has found his way into the restaurant and appears to be in such dismay he throws a stash of paperwork all over the floor. As he does so, Suki walks in and see the state he's left the restaurant in, as she approaches him, Ian makes it clear to her that he doesn't want her in the restaurant. However, Suki is quick to make a proposition for him, she informs him about her plans for the Slater household and with him being a member of the council, she thinks he can help get her application get the attention she's wanting. In return she will give him £10,000! Ian is left stunned by her offer and tells her that he's actually not to be bought, but in his desperate need for money, will he take her up on her offer? It may just be the only way to get the money he needs to pay people back with. But of course, that would mean even more trouble for Slater's, once they find out that Ian helped Suki with her plan, he'll only have a few more people out to get him! Something tells me this whole situation isn't going to end well for Ian! What do you guys think?!
Back at the Insurance building, Shirley and Kat are in a blind panic as they're trying to get rid of the gentleman that's walked in on them. Shirley pushes Kat to try and get rid of him. They very subtly and quickly leave the man in the room as he appears to get distracted by sirens approaching the building from outside. Downstairs in the parking lot, Phil is frantic for Kush to get the gate open, Ben quickly notifies Kush that the police are approaching and Kush finally realises that he's been putting the code in wrong, finally he manages to put the code in correctly and franticly, Kat and Shirley dash towards the cars as Phil is shouting for them to get going. Kat pleads to Kush to come with them and leave the one car on it's own, but he's adamant he can do it! As Ben and Shirley drive ahead, the police are gathering outside the building, Kush is frantically trying to get his car to start as Kat begs him to just leave it and go with them. Phil shouts at Kat that they need to move quickly before they get nicked, Kat takes one last look at Kush and simply just says "I'm sorry!" before getting in the car with Phil and leaving him behind.
Kush is absolutely stunned that she's just left him to face the police alone. Callum arrives outside and manages to see Ben leave the scene in his car, only when Phil follows in his car, DI Thompson sees him very clearly and instructs his fellow police officers to go after him. He then instructs Callum to go into the parking lot to see if there is anyone else about. Unfortunately Kush is still struggling to get his car to work, Callum comes face-to-face with Kush and tells him to simply exit the car peacefully as police forces are surrounded everywhere, there is no easy way for him to get out of this now. Kush realises he's backed into a corner, he does everything Callum instructs him to do, only he decides to quickly make a run for it! Callum quickly dashes after him and follows him into a room on the third floor of the building. Kush attempts to hide, Callum comes into the room and spots Kush's reflection, however what he does next is a very interesting thing, he informs his boss that Kush actually got away, much to Kush's relief. When Callum shuts the door, making Kush think he's left the room, Kush attempts to make his escape but is surprised to see Callum still standing there. For a moment, I truly did think Callum was going to let Kush go, but instead he insists on arresting him. Kush begs to let him, but when Callum states he can't simply do that, Kush makes one last threat - if Kush is going to be sent down for this burglary, then he's going to make sure that Ben does to!
Ooooooo what is Callum going to do?! Is he going to let Kush off the hook so he can protect Ben? Will the police catch up with Ben and Phil?! What does this mean for Kat and Kush's relationship?! This has been a brilliant episode to watch, really gripping! I don't think I've seen one as gripping as this for a while! I'm really looking forward to finding out what happens next! What are your thoughts on this episode? What do you think will happen next?! I'd love to hear your thoughts, please feel free to comment or message me, I'll always find the time to reply! Thank you so much for reading! I'll be back again very soon to see what the aftermath of this robbery will be! Love you all xXx

What if we got the story of the rooftop trio animated in season 5 of BNHA?
*Disclaimer before starting: This thread comes from my intense desire of seeing the Vigilantes Spin-off made an anime, and my desire to see the story of Shirakumo animated because I like to suffer. It's written in a "theory" way but I don't want to imply it's true or it's going to happen, because even though I'd love something like this, I feel it is too far-fetched and surely not going to happen. But what if...? So please keep in mind that I'm just joking, and not being really serious about this (..or am I?)
First of all, I'm going to explain how a strange thought like the possibility of seeing the story of the rooftop trio animated in season 5 came to my mind.
I'm obsessed with both bnha and vigilantes. I started reading vigilantes because I wanted to know more about aizawa and I heard that his past was explained there, but I ended up falling in love with vigilantes and I consider it something you must read if you really want to understand the bnha world more. To me, it is not only a spin-off, it's a very important part of the bnha story specially because I can't see someone feeling the same impact while reading bnha story (specially after the Kurogiri reveal) if they haven't read vigilantes too.
My best friend also loves bnha, but she hasn't seen the 4th anime season yet, and hasn't started reading the manga. She is going to start reading the manga soon and I told her "Keep me updated about what chapters you're reading because I want you to stop reading bnha when you reach a certain chapter, switch to vigilantes, read the whole vigilantes (or at least until Aizawa's past arc) and then come back to read bnha"
I want her to do this because I feel the Shirakumo/Kurogiri reveal doesn't hit you that hard if you haven't read the rooftop trio chapters of vigilantes. I mean, I read them before and the reveal got me the most shocked I've ever been. I can't explain how I felt but I couldn't close my mouth and I kept saying "No way... No way... Oh god..."
When do I think she has to switch from bnha to vigilantes? In other way, when do I feel like it's the perfect time to read vigilantes while reading bnha?
Well, this is a personal preference but I think it should be after the joint training arc. Why? Because of this scene:
Tumblr media
It's (if I'm not mistaken) the first time Shirakumo is mentioned in the bnha manga. It's chapter 217, the last chapter of the joint training arc, before the meta liberation army arc starts. (Keep this in mind because it's important later in my analysis)
I think this dialogue is perfect, because it makes you wonder who that Shirakumo is? And it's when I think my friend should switch to read vigilantes. She will eventually read the Aizawa's past arc, meet Shirakumo, cry about him like I did, and then come back to read bnha, starting the meta liberation army arc. She will read that arc, which is very long and focused on the villains, so she will probably forget a bit about Shirakumo. This means when the reveal of Kurogiri happens at the start of the Paranormal liberation arc, she will be shocked.
I didn't like the idea of telling her to read Vigilantes right before the reveal because then, the moment she saw aizawa and mic going to Tartarus, she would be suspicious about that what is going to happen could be related to that. But making her read vigilantes after chapter 217, gives her like an amount of 40 chapters of the manga to read before the reveal. In those 40 chapters Shirakumo is not mentioned, so she will focus on other things, not Shirakumo, and when the reveal comes it will blow her mind.
You're probably wondering why I'm telling all of this when the title of the post is about season 5 of the anime. Well, here it comes:
Yesterday I was curious about what parts of the manga we will probably see animated in season 5, so I went to the My hero academia wiki and started wondering about it. Here's what I thought:
First, I thought about how the pro hero arc wasn't finished in season 4. In the anime, they cut the season when Endeavor wins against the nomu. But in the manga, Dabi appears right after that and then we see the first glimpse of double agent Hawks when both of them talk in private. This means the season is going to start with a few chapters left of the Pro hero arc. Watching the equivalent of manga and anime chapters in each arc, I came to the conclusion that usually in the anime, each arc is more or less half the chapters of that arc in the manga. The Pro hero arc has 10 manga chapters, and so far, we've had 2 anime episodes. So this means we could still get at least 2 or even 3 anime episodes about that arc...
Then, it comes the Joint training arc, which has 24 manga episodes. If we follow the previous estimations, it could be like 12 anime episodes (maybe less, since that arc has a lot of fights and fights are longer in manga than anime)
And then it's the Meta liberation army arc, or my villain academia, which is 23 manga chapters long. So maybe 11-12 chapters, but as I said before, battles tend to be longer in manga so maybe less anime chapters.
This seems correct. Adding those numbers we could get a 25 chapters season. But now let's imagine that my estimations are not really correct, and also the battles turn out to be much quick in the anime, so they end up with less chapters than the ones I've estimated.
Let's imagine they get only 23 chapters, for example. But they need 25...
Even if they could start the next arc and cut again the arc at the end of the season like they did in season 4, it would be weird. I mean, the Meta liberation arc is only about villains, and I imagine they're going to make that second half of season 5 only about villains. Opening and ending villain themed included. So it would be weird if the last one or two chapters of the season were from the following arc, because they would come back to the heroes for like two chapters after being only focused in the villains for 10 chapters... It would feel weird. It would be better if they end season 5 at the end of the meta liberation arc, when the LOV wins the fight.
But... What if they need more chapters to reach 25? What if the first half of the season needs those 2 chapters? (I see it more likely that this would happen to the first half and not the second, because the meta liberation arc would perfectly fit half a season in my opinion)
And this is where my brain said "What about... Animating the rooftop trio story?"
Okey, okey, I know. It sounds really far-fetched. I told you at the begining. But let me explain.
Remember what I said about my recommendation to my friend: that the perfect moment to switch to read vigilantes (and so the rooftop trio arc) would be at the end of the Joint training arc (which as I have analysed, would be in the 1st half of season 5) and before reading the meta liberation army arc (which will probably be the 2nd half of the season 5). That is the spot where I personally think it's the best moment to learn the story about Shirakumo to make the Kurogiri reveal most shocking (as I said, you would have at least like 20 anime chapters to "forget" about Shirakumo and then the reveal would be like "WHAT?! THAT SHIRAKUMO?! THE ONE FROM LIKE LAST SEASON?!")
Now, let's talk about length: if we cut out all the parts related to the vigilantes main story (because it wouldn't make sense to animate for example aizawa talking to Koichi), the arc about Aizawa's past (or Rooftop trio arc) is more or less, 6 manga chapters long. It has a battle, and some extra scenes that could be also cut, so let's say you could fit that story in maybe... 2 anime chapters. Only 2 anime chapters. Wow, that would come handy if you need to fill a 2 chapters gap in an anime season, don't you think?
Animating that arc right after Aizawa mentions Shirakumo at the end of the joint training arc would not only be the perfect spot in the bnha story to do it, but would also have the perfect chapter length to fit in the 25 chapters limit of season 5. It would give us the necessary info about Shirakumo to feel really really shocked about the Kurogiri reveal. I mean, it will surely hit harder if you know the whole story and how his relationship with aizawa was, than if you only know the few glimpses the bnha manga gives us about it.
Do you need another reason to get crazy about this? Well, remember this:
Tumblr media
They literally put Shirakumo in the last ending of season 4. They put there a character that we were not supposed to know nothing about until season 6. Why hint him so soon? Well, maybe to hint something that could happen in season 5...? Something like... An arc about who's him and his story with aizawa and mic?
I'll let this right here. I'm not saying they are going to do it. I'm saying I would love to see this happening and that in my head IT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE
