Steve was doing this for Robin.
He had to keep telling himself this. He could get through the day, the weekend, life, if he just kept repeating this to himself.
But an hour into their day, his pants ripped.
Not in a place it can be hidden, not a small one.
Right along his ass.
And because Robin insisted he’d be fine, he didn’t bring a bag with a change of clothes.
He could buy some, sure, if he wanted to spend $60 on special convention sweatpants that would be entirely too hot, unflattering, and ruin the costume Robin insisted he wear to match hers.
He was hiding in the bathroom currently, furiously texting Robin to let her know he was just going to stay there until it was time to leave.
She’d be mad at him, but she’d be more mad at herself for not letting him bring a change of clothes.
His pants weren’t even tight. Luke Skywalker doesn’t exactly wear tight clothes. He had no reason behind the rip other than the universe just hating him as much as possible.
Robin told him she would find someone to help, whatever that means, but he didn’t think that was possible without just buying new pants.
He stood in the corner of the continuously crowded bathroom, trying not to draw attention, but knowing it was incredibly odd to just stand in the corner of a public bathroom.
Ten minutes passed and a guy walked in with a backpack and a sign that says “Free Cosplay Repair” and Steve knew what Robin had done.
The man was pretty, and not dressed up, but seemed like he wished he was. Maybe it was difficult to repair if he was wearing some elaborate costume.
Steve didn’t know how this worked.
“Are you Steve?”
Steve nodded.
His voice was calming, and Steve instantly trusted him to fix the problem.
“Heard you’ve got a bit of a problem with the costume. Big or small?”
“Uh. Pretty big, man.”
“Ah. Tear along the ass, then. Happens all the time.”
He set his backpack down and started rummaging through the front pocket. When he pulled out a sewing kit, Steve realized he was going to have to get this fixed in a public bathroom with this very attractive man staring at and touching his ass for who knows how long.
“Um.”
“It’ll be better if you can take them off. I’ll be able to sew it much faster.”
Steve couldn’t just stand around in his boxers. That was not part of the plan or the agreement with Robin. People were coming and going from the bathroom at a rapid rate.
“Is there somewhere private we can go?”
“Awww, Stevie, feeling shy?”
Steve’s face was beet red. He was feeling a little shy, and being called out on it by a hot guy kind of made him think about being called out on other things in other ways and his brain was not doing well.
“My name’s Eddie. I come with my friend Chrissy to a bunch of these every year. We have a tent set up on the show floor for privacy, but you’d have to walk to it. I could walk behind you if you want?”
“Oh. Okay. Um. Sure.”
It was better than standing half naked in this bathroom.
So they left, and Eddie stayed right behind him, covering him from possible exposure to the growing crowd.
He would lean forward and direct him to the tent every few seconds, leaving goosebumps behind from how close he got to his ear to be heard.
When they arrived, Chrissy was finishing up with supergluing something to a mask. Eddie touched her shoulder and whispered something to her. She rolled her eyes and smiled at him before turning back to the person she was helping.
Eddie nudged Steve into their tent.
“Alright, shouldn’t take too long. Take them off, Luke.”
Steve rolled his eyes but followed directions. The faster this was done, the faster he could get back to Robin, who was probably so deep into the crowd by now that he’d never find her anyways.
Maybe he should just stay here. Learn to sew. Become a part of their traveling repair team.
They seemed nice enough.
Eddie got started immediately, and Steve was grateful for the privacy the tent provided. He sat down on a stool they had set up in the corner and put his hands in his lap, covering as much of himself as he could. He was definitely not confident in this place.
He’d embraced that he liked some nerdy things. He was fine with it.
But he was way out of his element here.
“You come to these a lot?”
“No. Just supporting my friend.”
“Explains not being as prepared as the pros.”
“I did try to be. My friend said I’d be fine. Don’t know why I listened to her.”
Eddie snorted. “She a friend or a…friend?”
Steve laughed so loudly, Eddie jumped. “Sorry. She’s very much not straight and I am very much not interested.”
“Is she Leia?”
“Yeah.”
“Everyone will assume you’re together, you know?”
“Yeah, well. She said I had to and I owed her.”
“Must’ve done you a big favor.”
“You could say that.”
Eddie’s hands were moving quickly, and Steve couldn’t help watching in amazement.
“How long have you been doing this?”
“What? Sewing? Or conventions?”
“Both.”
Eddie smiled while he worked.
“Sewing since I was 11. I was in charge of fixing my and my uncle’s clothes since we couldn’t really afford new ones unless I outgrew them. Then in high school I did costumes for drama and cheerleaders. That’s how I met Chrissy. She was a secret nerd so she took me to a convention and I saw too many people crying over broken and torn cosplays so I started doing this.”
“For free?”
“Yeah. I already had most of the supplies on hand and I’m not using them all so why not?”
“That’s really…kind.”
He saw Eddie’s cheeks blush, but he didn’t comment.
Maybe he’d gain some upper hand here despite being half naked in a tent with a stranger.
“It’s not a big deal.”
“It kind of is, man. Just take the compliment. It’s really selfless.”
“Okay. Yeah. I guess. Thanks.”
They settled into a comfortable silence and Steve really took in the tent. There were things hanging up that he vaguely recognized as D&D monsters from Dustin’s room.
“Hey, the kid I babysit is into that.”
“What?”
“The dungeons game.”
“Really?”
“Yeah! I think he even has that exact print in his room.”
“No shit? I made these. I have an Etsy shop.”
“You’re kidding. He’s gonna freak out that I met you.”
“Well, shit. Take one for him.”
“Oh, I couldn’t do that.”
“Yeah you could. I’m not letting you leave until you do.”
Steve felt his heart flutter.
Dustin was like his little brother and he loved him so much. Any time someone did something kind for him, it melted his heart.
He didn’t have time for feelings for a stranger.
Not at a convention where he was the outcast.
“I guess if you insist.”
“I do.”
Steve was a fucking mess. Emotionally, he was the type to get really attached really quickly. It’s why all of his relationships ended within weeks. He was ready to be completely committed and they never were. He fell hard and fast for anyone who showed him even a tiny bit of interest.
He had to get out of this tent.
“I’m not rushing you, but how much longer?”
“I’m almost done. Few more minutes. Doing okay?”
“Yeah. Just wanna find Robin.”
“Text her to meet you here. She knows where it is.”
“How would she know that?”
“I’ve met her a few times at other conventions and she always stops by to say hello.”
Robin knew this guy?
Suddenly, he realized what was going on.
She was setting him up.
“Take your time. She can wait.”
Eddie slowed his hands and looked up at Steve.
“Uh. Okay.”
“She’s a traitor who did this to me on purpose.”
“Ripped your pants?”
“Yes.”
Eddie stopped what he was doing completely.
“She ripped your pants on purpose? How would she have done that?”
“She pulled a seam out or something.”
“Why would she do that?”
“Because she’s trying to set us up.”
“Us?!”
“Yep. Sorry. I promise I don’t expect anything. She just does this sometimes. Thinks I’m lonely or whatever.”
Eddie searched his face for a minute, then looked back down at his work.
“Are you?”
“Am I what?”
“Lonely.”
Well, yeah. Robin didn’t get the assumption from nowhere. But he didn’t really want to admit that to a stranger.
“Yeah, I guess.”
Apparently, he was going to anyways.
“Hm.”
“Hm?”
“Mhm.”
Steve huffed out a breath.
Eddie stood suddenly and came over to Steve, pushing his shoulder back and his legs apart so he could fit between them.
Eddie’s hand cupped his chin, pulling it up so he could look at him.
Steve gulped.
He was feeling more than vulnerable at this point and wasn’t sure what to do about it.
“Your friend must really love you to want to make sure you aren’t lonely.”
“Um. Yeah.”
“You know, I’m taking a lunch break in about an hour if you wanna hang around. I could use some company.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. One condition though.”
“What’s that?”
“You take the pants off again.”
Steve laughed and Eddie couldn’t help the smile he aimed down at him.
“You want me to eat in just my boxers?”
“Well, not just your boxers. That’ll be later at the hotel.”
God, this guy was good. Smoother than Steve’s ever been and he was known for his charming nature for years.
“You think I’ll come back to your hotel?”
“I know you will.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I only temporarily fixed these pants. The stuff you need is back at my room.”
“What if I don’t care about the pants?”
“All the more reason to leave them off when you come to my room.”
They smiled at each other.
Steve felt brave. He felt a little ridiculous. Most of all, he felt like he couldn’t pass up the opportunity literally staring him in the face.
He leaned up a bit more and waited for Eddie to lean down.
When their lips met, Steve knew he was completely fucked.
Robin had fucked him over and he’d never been so grateful.

“A bunny?” you scoff. “Really?”
“It was the only thing left in your size.” Shotaro explains. And in all honesty, it looks like the dress is two times smaller than anything you’ve worn before.
“I’m sure the fancy dress store would have had something better.”
“And I’m sure you know that this isn’t a party for five–year–olds. This isn’t fancy dress, it’s fancy dress. As a member of the committee, I can’t allow you into the party with me if you don’t follow the rules.”
“Maybe that’s the point,” you snatch the dress from his hands and throw it onto the bed. But you pick up the glamorous mask from the box he’d opened for you. This, at least, was something to admire.
A bunny mask, white with gems and lace dotted delicately across it with two white feathers poking from the top to act as ears.
“Come on,” he whines. “You promised you’d come this year.”
“I know I did but now that it’s a few hours away, I’m beginning to think it’s okay to break some promises.”
“You’d really break a promise with your best friend?” he gasps. It sounds like he’s only kidding when he fake sobs but it’s Shotaro and you know it means something to him deep down.
He’s your best friend, after all.
You tut and let out a quiet exhale.
“I’ll go,” you say to him. “But is there really nothing else I can wear?”
“I spent all day shopping to find your costume…” he pouts.
“Fine,” you huff. “Is there a reason I’m bunny?”
“Didn’t I tell you this year’s theme is animals?”
“I thought it was masquerade.”
“Every year is masquerade, dummie. But the theme changes every year, not many people go with the theme anyway. But I thought it would be fun for us to do it, since it’s your first time.”
“What’s your animal?” you ask him.
“I’m an otter.” He says with the biggest, dorkiest smile ever.
“An otter?”
“Yeah!” his eyes close up from how much he’s smiling and you can’t find it in yourself to question his choice further.
“This party’s a big deal, huh?” you mutter to yourself.
“I’ll pick you up at nine, ‘kay?”
You nod and wave him goodbye while he runs out of your room. You know in the few hours until the party, he’ll barely have enough time to get ready himself since he’s part of the committee.
Neither you or Shotaro were party people, but the annual Halloween masquerade is something he takes pride in — mainly because him and a bunch of his friends host it every year, but also because he loves the spooky season.
Though, you can imagine there’d be little festivities happening tonight.
With the kind of crowd at your college — a prestigious and expensive kind — the partygoers only care about drinking overpriced champagne and showing off their designer outfits.
It’s not that you never attended by your own choice. Shotaro invited you every year but last year you fell sick and the year before you were behind with assignments.
You feel worried, in a way. Sure, you’ve been to your share of parties. But this is the biggest party of the year. And your outfit seemed lame.
Tonnes of people go as bunnies, and the number of bunnies would be higher since the theme is animals. Oh well, you trust Shotaro’s choice.
You sigh as you look over the items on your bed.
The white dress, the embellished mask and a pair of white kitten heels — Shotaro knows you wouldn’t be able to handle stilettos for an entire night and you silently thank him for taking note.
You remind yourself to pay him in return for going shopping on your behalf as you get in the shower. Playing your favourite songs, you get ready with a bit of a lighter mood.
Since you’re wearing a mask, you don’t go too heavy on the eyes and instead focus on picking out the perfect shade of lipstick. And then you move onto your hair.
When you’re done, you slip into your dress, fumbling with the zipper as your arms reach around your back to pull it up. You put on your shoes and straighten yourself out in the mirror.
You look… beautiful.
White never looked so good on you.
No one in the entire campus has seen you show so much skin and you begin to tremble with bad nerves but a knock on your room door grounds you.
“You look amazing!” Shotaro looks you up and down with a huge smile.
He is donned in a brown tweed suit. His hair is slicked back and the upper half of his face is covered with a mask — rounded eyes and rounded ears and brown fur.
“Mr. Otter,” you greet him. “You’re late.”
“Only by two minutes,” he grins and picks up your mask before tying the ribbons around your head, making sure to not spoil your perfectly styled hair. “How are you feeling?”
“A little nervous, but I’m starting to feel excited.”
Although the pit of your stomach is a little wobbly, there is a thrilling sensation in your chest that outweighs it. it’s safe to say you’re not as reluctant as before now that Shotaro is here. He’s so happy to see you.
You can only imagine how excited he is for you to finally attend his party.
Maybe it’s the excitement of Shotaro escorting you, or the fact that it’s your first time going, but when you look in the mirror while he fixes your mask, you feel like a completely different person. And you like it.
Maybe just for one night, you could be someone else.
“Ready to go?” he asks.
Your hand slips into his naturally. “Yeah.”
“You remember the rule, right?”
“Don’t take off your mask.”
Tumblr media
The party is everything you imagined it to be, and everything you didn’t imagine it to be.
You’re in awe at the sheer elegance of it.
Sure, you’ve heard many stories about it. You never attended but it was no doubt a hot topic of conversation for days afterwards and people began looking forward to next year’s party immediately.
As you stepped into the hall, it feels like a new age ballroom for modern teens.
Like the old days of high society somehow met with drunken teen spirit of the twenty–first century.
You would be lying to say you aren’t impressed when Shotaro asks you.
Staring up at the dazzling chandeliers, Shotaro’s arm slips from your hold as he hugs some random guy. You don’t recognise him because of the mask he’s wearing, but he’s all green. His suit a dark shade of emerald velvet while his mask is a few shades lighter with textured snake skin.
His smile, on the other hand, is charming and completely unalike to a snake.
They exchange chatter and you don’t pay attention to their words until Mr. Snake lays his eyes on you. His pretty smile widens to show a perfect set of teeth.
Before he can introduce himself, you’re met with a handful of girls who’ve been excited to see you since you announced to them you’d be at the party. They whisk you away and you give a sorry wave to Shotaro.
You didn’t want to leave him so early but he cheers you on with raised fists.
You’re rushed onto the dance floor but you want nothing more than to peel away from the crammed bodies. For a few moments, you blend in on the border of enjoying dancing but you’d need a few drinks to loosen up first.
You escape the grasp of sweaty bodies wrapped in expensive clothes and slip away to the side.
If the party is this hyper right now, you certainly don’t feel excited for how much louder it will get in a few hours.
But then again… tonight’s all about letting go, right?
It wouldn’t hurt to join in with the chaos for one night.
Everyone’s wearing masks and you can barely recognise who is who unless you know them personally.
There’s a hint of fun among all of this.
The hairs on the back of your neck stand up and a gentle shiver runs down your spine. It’s thrilling. And you feel like everyone is watching — your body grows a little to elated to what you’re used to.
Backing away from the crowd, you walk over to the punch table.
You sniff it before drinking, registering a hint of alcohol hidden among the fruity taste.
If you wanted to get completely wasted, you’d have started with the champagne on the other side of the room but you settle with some surprisingly good punch for now.
You just needed easing up a little.
And it works pretty fast. Your shoulders slowly relax and the dancefloor doesn’t seem so daunting now.
You feel a timid buzz in your body and it becomes stronger when someone joins you at the punch table.
He leans his butt against it after pouring a cup and sips it while looking you up and down.
You feel yourself burst into flames under the gaze of… a bear?
“Bunny?”
You nod.
“Nice,” he smirks. “You’re missing a tail, though.”
You roll your eyes and sip your own drink while his eyes slip down your back to your butt where he would expect to see a plush ball of white fur. You didn’t think about it until now, but your mask and ears are enough to let others know what animal you are. A missing tail isn’t a big deal.
But the way Mr. Bear looks at your body is.
It’s a new feeling; you like it, but you also don’t.
Discomfort floods your body but at the same time, you don’t want the feeling to go away. You can feel the walls of your comfort zone breaking away little by little.
You sigh at the thought. You’re doing this for Shotaro, remember?
Speaking of, you glance around the room and spot him surrounded by a group of people. Always the social butterfly. You feel proud of him in a way, but it didn’t help that you’re too awkward to speak to anybody else in the room.
Small talk has never been your expertise.
“Enjoying the party?” Mr. Bear asks.
“Sure.”
“Just sure? Not this is the best party you’ve ever been to?”
“It’s not the worst,” you shrug.
He chuckles and takes another sip of his drink.
“You look like you don’t go to many parties.”
“I don’t.”
“Then why are you here?”
Now, who does he think he is interrogating you for no reason, hm? His bear mask is less than intimidating, but the smirk on his face when he sees you firing up is enough to unsettle your nerves.
He’s here to piss you off on purpose.
There’s no need to give him what he wants.
Just finish your drink and go to the dance floor, maybe find Shotaro and dance with him for a bit before leaving.
“It’s rude to ignore people. It would be a shame to see a cute, little bunny get into trouble with the big, bad bear.”
He scoots over to you as he says it and he makes sure to whisper it right into your ear.
You swallow, ignoring the way his breath floats over your skin and causes goosebumps to rise. You curse the dress for not being long enough to hide how your body reacts to him.
“Big and bad, my ass,” you scoff, hiding your nervousness with an attitude. “You’re as intimidating as my little toe.”
You roll your eyes. When is this loser going to leave?
“You here with anyone?”
“What?”
“Did you come here with a date or are you alone?”
“Why do you want to know?”
“Just curious if you had an invite.”
“First of all, I was invited. And secondly, if I didn’t, I wouldn’t choose to spend my night breaking into some dumb party.”
“You sound angry,” he hisses. “Maybe you should leave if you don’t like it.”
“I would but some asshole bear keeps trying to talk to me.”
He’s silent for a moment before asking, “Who did you come with?”
Your grit your teeth. All the work the alcohol had done to relax you had failed the moment this pretentious ass came along.
“I came with Shotaro,” you tell him.
“Shotaro?” he laughs. “You gotta be kidding. Do you really expect me to believe that?”
“Why not? Is it so hard to believe?”
“A little,” he admits, clearly becoming agitated with you. “How about I call him over so you can say it to him?”
“What are you—”
“Relax, Haechan” Mr. Snake appears in true snake fashion. He attempts to rub away the tension in Mr. Bear’s shoulders. “She’s with Taro. I saw them come in together.”
The bear bites back a remark and finally shuts up.
With the snake dude is another guy — dark hair and piercing eyes. It takes you a while but you realise his mask depicts a wolf.
“You’re YN, right?” he says. “Taro talks about you a lot.”
You nod silently.
“Shit… you’re YN?” Haechan brings his fist up to cover his mouth. You don’t know why he’s so shocked but him being stunned to silence works for you.
“I’m Jeno.” Mr. Wolf holds out his hand but you don’t take it.
He retracts it slowly and you look to Mr. Snake again.
“Jaemin,” he introduces himself. “And you know Haechan already, I see.”
The four of you fall into silence. After learning their names, you can’t say you know them. You don’t recall ever having classes with any of them.
“Are you enjoying the party?” Mr. Snake slash Jaemin asks.
“It’s fine,” you say plainly. “The company, however, is not.”
Your words cut through the air between you like a knife and you can tell they’re all taken aback. You’re not sure where this fieriness has come from but it feels exhilarating. Seeing them all look at you in surprise while at the same time, their eyes travel up and down your body.
Being set on fire by three different gazes is new but addicting.
You direct your attention to tracing the shape of the pumpkin on your cup of punch while they begin chattering to one another. It’s a little awkward and you’re about to leave before you’re knocked into.
Thankfully, your white dress doesn’t get stained but the white shirt of a tux turns red with the punch.
“Aww, man, my shirt!”
You step back immediately, not wanting any of the stains on you.
“I told you to watch it,” a familiar voice whines. Renjun appears donning a fox mask while patting down YangYang with some napkins. “Oh, hey YN. You look… good.”
You don’t miss the way his eyes stick on your body before looking away.
“Th–thanks…” you mutter.
Renjun is a quiet friend, but he always goes out of his way to speak with you. You have a few classes together and you get along well. But one thing you’ve always wanted to ask him is why he hangs out with YangYang so much.
Renjun is a sweet, calm and mature guy. YangYang is nothing but trouble. He’s loud and grabs attention wherever he goes. You try not to question their friendship much but as Renjun tries to clean the stain on the latter’s suit, you really wonder how their friendship came to be.
YangYang wears a mask with a pointed nose and eyes — an eagle.
Interesting choice.
Being surrounded by them all — all of whom are taller than you — makes you feel intimidated. They share glances between themselves; it’s awkward but no one says anything.
Renjun continues to help YangYang clean himself, Haechan starts whining again and thankfully, it’s not to you. And the other two, Jeno and Jaemin, deal with both Haechan’s annoyance and YangYang’s carelessness.
While they’re distracted, you take the opportunity to slip away and scour the floor for Shotaro. He’s further away now and you don’t look forward to fighting your way through the dancefloor to get to him.
You pull your phone from your purse and send him a quick text message. He checks his phone straight away and his eyes search for you as soon as he sees it and you give him a little wave. He smiles back in acknowledgement before his attention is stolen again.
The message reads: gonna head to the private room for a bit. I’ll come back soon
You head to the said room, looking back to ensure nobody saw you slipping through the back door of the hall and down the empty corridors of the building.
When you reach the room, you close the door quietly behind you.
The lights are already turned on, albeit dim. Somebody probably forgot to switch them off, maybe Shotaro.
He showed you his “secret” room a long time ago but you never visited it frequently until recently. He used it to plan for the party while you studied sitting next to him. No one else ever came when you were alone so you assume it’s an unused room.
Shotaro told you he sometimes comes here alone when he feels stressed, and asked for you to use it freely.
You collapse onto the soft couch; the plush, velvety material drags you deeper while you take off your mask and fling it onto the coffee table.
“So much for getting out of my comfort zone.”
You scroll through your phone until you’re bored and then spend the rest of your time laying in silence staring at the decorated ceiling.
Shotaro probably won’t have much time to come see you away from the party so you decide to head back.
But as soon as you stand, you hear voices growing louder. You stop a few feet away from the door, waiting for them to pass so you can leave only for the door to your room to swing wide open.
You jolt slightly, heart racing for some reason.
“Another shirt ruined. My mom’s going to kill me.” YangYang says as he enters first but stops in his tracks right in front of you.
The others bump into him subsequently.
“YN,” the wolf — Jeno — says. “What are you doing here?”
“I… I was just leaving.” You duck to the side to make a narrow escape but a big, tall bear stands in your way.
“Not so fast, little bunny. You know this is our room, right?”
You clench your jaw. What is it with this guy and trying to cause you problems?
“I didn’t know.”
“So you just go wandering into any room you like?”
“I…, no. Shotaro brought me here. He said I can use it whenever.”
“Oh, he did now?”
“Yes, he did.”
“Now, now children. Let’s not start getting into it again.” Jaemin says.
The others step further into the room and you try to leave again but Haechan still stands in your way.
“You gonna move or what?”
“Would you look at that?” he scoffs. “Bunny’s got a bite.”
If he doesn’t stop, you might actually bite him.
He steps closer and you stand up straighter when he looks down at you. He’s only inches away; he feels… addicting.
“Don’t act so brave, little bunny. Or the big, bad bear might gobble you up whole.”
You scoff.
“Not likely. The majority of a bear’s diet consists of vegetation.”
“Bunny’s got a brain, too.” Jaemin says from the couch. Your back is facing him so you don’t see him picking up the bunny mask you left on the table and waving it to the others. “But not a big one, apparently.”
The rest of them have settled comfortably in the room and before you know it, Haechan is grabbing you by the wrist and dragging you to sit with them.
“What are you doing?!”
“Can’t let you go back out there when you’ve broken the rule. The little bunny needs to be punished.”
“What rule?” you huff. “Let go of me.”
You’re more than surprised when he places you in his lap. Freezing up immediately, your eyes widen but the rest of them act like this is just a normal day.
“Did Taro forget to tell you?” Renjun asks, and then explains, “You’re not allowed to take off your mask.”
“What—”
“Be quiet. You’re annoying me.” Haechan says.
And that’s exactly why he has you in his lap, isn’t it? Being stuck here is definitely a punishment.
They begin yet another conversation, complaining about how exhausted they all are from organising the party.
“Wait, you guys are on the committee?”
“Duh.” Haechan mutters beneath you.
“We all host the party with Shotaro,” Jeno explains. “Every year.”
You take in the information slowly. Maybe you should have thought twice before dissing the party to them earlier. No wonder the man beneath you got so pressed.
Stuck in your thoughts, you fall into silence again before a tickle against your leg stirs you. Jaemin’s fingers trace little patterns into your skin. He meets your eyes briefly before giving his attention back to the others as if nothing happened.
They continue talking but you feel both Haechan and Jaemin growing closer to you.
Haechan’s breath flutters over your skin. He places his chin on your shoulder and teases you ear with his lips. Your too stunned to comprehend his whispers and Jaemin snakes his way closer to you.
The others are watching as the two slowly break down your walls and every nerve in your body is on high alert.
Jaemin’s hand travels past the hem of your dress and you gasp as Haechan’s lips finally touch your skin. He’s soft, gently breathing onto the skin of your neck before biting down.
“Ah!” you yelp.
Your body is hot while the others watch Jaemin rubbing your thighs and Haechan leaving marks all along your shoulder.
“What are you doing?” you whisper.
“Hm? Don’t you like this?”
You bite your lips. You do, but it feels so wrong to admit it.
The desperation takes over, and you nod eagerly. This punishment doesn’t seem bad at all.
“Use your words, bunny. Tell us you want it.”
“I want it.”
“What do you want?”
“You. I want all of you.”
“Fuck…” you hear Jeno chuckle behind you. “Who knew Taro’s girl was this desperate?”
“I…I’m not…”
“Don’t give us that crap,” YangYang butts in. His legs are spread wide on the couch and his arms across the back of it. “Why don’t you come over here?”
“Hey, I had her first!” Haechan whines.
“Fuck you. You’ve had her all this time. You wanna know how hard my dick is from watching?”
“Not my problem.” Haechan says and grabs you by the cheeks, slamming his lips onto yours.
Your mouth opens to his immediately, letting him inside and you feel warmth in every part of you, especially in your core. You rub your thighs together, fidgeting in his lap and ensuring you rock your ass against his hardening cock.
Jaemin is exploring you with him. His hands have snuck under your dress, cupping your ass while he attacks your neck with his lips.
His mask grazes against your jaw and his dark eyes look to you through narrow slits.
There’s something exhilarating about his face being hidden, all of theirs. Maybe it was a good thing you were the only one to break the rule.
Haechan lifts your hips and situates you exactly how he wants.
Your ass presses right onto his dick while Jaemin helps him spread your legs wide on either side of him. He drops to his knees, kissing his way up from your ankles to your inner thighs.
His lips tickle you and your core tenses.
“Mind if I take ‘em off?” He notions towards your white, lacey panties.
You nod, swallowing nervously as he peels them away. You can feel the arousal on the material when it parts from you.
“Fuck, you’re so wet…”
“Of course, she is,” Haechan kisses your neck. “She’s a slutty little bunny. Ain’t that right?”
He nudges you and you nod quickly.
One of his hands cups your breast while the other pulls your dress up, holding it against your stomach so no obstacles are left for Jaemin.
“You sure you want this?” Jaemin asks. You appreciate his sentiment but you’re too desperate for his niceties.
“Yes, please…just touch me!”
A filthy grin finds its way to his face before he dips his head and attaches his lips to your pussy.
“Ah!” you whimper.
Your back presses into Haechan as it arches and your ass grinds against his cock while you rock your hips back and forth against Jaemin’s face. He grabs your thighs, holding them tight around his neck while he licks and sucks.
He drags his teeth over your clit gently, causing you to cry out from the feeling. And then he rubs his tongue up and down, electrifying your entire body.
You feel your orgasm approaching when he shoves two fingers into your pussy with ease. You’re so fucking wet and he spreads you open while tasting your sweet essence.
Pleasure hits you, blinding your senses and your body trembles in Haechan’s embrace. You’re gasping and crying, begging for Jaemin to not stop and finally your hips stop moving.
You collapse onto Haechan and catch your breath. Upon opening your eyes, you see them all staring at you with mouths wide open.
“You sound so pretty…” Renjun mutters.
Some of them stroke their boners over their slacks, others watch quietly, waiting for the next move.
“My turn.” Haechan flips you onto the couch. Your shoulders meet the cushions while your ass bends upwards. You shuffle into a more comfortable version while Haechan rips off his belt and pulls out his cock.
He hisses when he strokes it a few times.
“God, you’re so hot…” he whispers. “Gonna fuck you so good.”
You moan into the cushions while he prods your entrance.
“Wait,” Jeno calls.
“The fuck do you want?”
You turn your head to see Mr. Wolf reaching into his pocket and making his way to you. He talks directly to you, ignoring Haechan completely.
“Now’s a good time to tell you about the little gift Shotaro bought you.”
He reveals a fluffy white ball. You’re not sure of its purpose at first until you see the rounded metal hidden beneath all the fur.
Your eyes widen in shock.
“Shotaro got me that?!”
“He pussied out last minute and gave it to me instead. But it was meant for you.”
“Why the hell would he give it to you?” Renjun asks and Jeno shrugs while the others laugh.
You swallow grimly, eyes not leaving the toy.
“How about we give our bunny a tail?” Haechan grins.
His voice is so sickeningly annoying but you can’t get enough of it.
“What do you say?”
You purse your lips in thought.
Did Taro really get you that?
What did he mean by it?
Does he… want to have sex with you? Or was it only meant to as an accessory to your costume?
You don’t have time to think about it and you brush the notions away quickly with a nod.
“Bunny wants a tail.” You whine cutely, pouting your lips as you look up at him.
You hear one of them groan and Haechan grabs handfuls of your ass, spreading your cheeks and spitting between them. His fingers rub gently, spreading his spit.
Meanwhile, Jeno bends down to your level.
“Open wide.”
You part your lips and stick out your tongue, letting the saliva dribble. He rubs the metal part of the ball up and down, coating it in saliva before ordering you to suck on it. Whispers of curses fill the room as you make the most needy face you can while sucking on the toy.
“Good girl,” Jeno strokes your hair, tickling your scalp with his fingers.
The plug pops from your mouth Haechan holds you open while Jeno slips it in your ass.
“Relax, baby,” he rubs your body to ease. “There we go. Almost there.”
He teases it in and out of your hole until you’re ready to take it fully and then he pushes it in. You whine from the sensation but the feeling of being filled is incredible. You shake your ass teasingly and both of them grab it, leaving a red mark from a slap.
Haechan wastes no time in fucking you. He pushes into your pussy, guiding your hips onto him with eagerness. His cock spreads you open and he stutters vocally.
“Ah, you’re so fucking tight…”
You whine in response and push your hips back and forth with him, allowing him to dive in deeper. Your walls wrap around him and he stills for a moment when he’s fully situated.
“Fuck, Haechan!” you cry. “Feels so good.”
“Baby, I’m not even doing anything.” He chuckles and the others laugh with him. “You’re such a little bunnywhore, ain’t ya? So desperate for my cock.”
“Yes!” you cry out. “Please, Haechan, want you to fuck me so good.”
“What was that? I don’t think the others heard you.”
“Please! Fuck me real good, Haechan. Wanna be fucked like a little whore!”
He drags his cock out slowly before slamming back in.
“What a slutty little bunny.”
You moan into the cushions, not caring if they become covered with your drool and makeup. You can only feel Haechan’s cock driving in and out of you and the heated gaze of everyone else on the two of your bodies.
“Fuck, I’m gonna cum already.” Haechan says and you clench around him. “Fuck, fuck, fuck!”
He thrusts a few more times before pulling out and jerking his cock over your ass. His hot cum hits you in spurts and you wiggle your hips side to side while he groans and empties his load on you.
“Fucking perfect…” he whispers and falls onto the couch.
“Who’s next?” Jeno asks.
You rise up on trembling arms and all of them are silent, but expectant. You crawl over to the one closest to you, Renjun.
He seems nervous, swallowing loudly when you touch him.
“Renjun…?”
“You… you don’t have to YN.”
“But I want to.”
You kiss his ears, his neck, his lips. Your hands sneak under his blazer and trace his hard body over his shirt. He nods shyly.
“What do you want me to do?” you ask softly.
“You…” he gasps and throws his head back when you squeeze his cock. “Your mouth. Use your mouth.”
You fall to the floor immediately, held warmly between his legs and he helps you remove his cock from his boxers and pants.
You stroke him gently, feeling him harden even more.
An experimental lick swipes its way up his cock and you eye him, watching him unravel from the warmth of your tongue. When you reach the tip, you take him past your lips. Little by little, teasing him and admiring the way his chest rises and falls rapidly.
You make sure to stick out your ass for the others while you suck Renjun’s cock and in no time, his cock hits the back of your throat from his hips thrusting up.
“God, YN!” he moans.
You suck tighter, bob your head faster and when you see his fists tightening by his side, you remove him from your mouth completely.
“Ah!” he gasps loudly. He reaches for his cock to reach his high but you hold them back. “YN, please!”
“Don’t you want to cum inside your little bunny?” you whisper.
He stares at you, mesmerised.
“Renjunnie… cum inside me… please?””
He nods gently.
“Are you sure it’s okay?”
You bite your lips, telling him that it’s more than fine. You want nothing more than to be filled up with him, with all of them.
To your side, YangYang has his cock out, stroking it up and down while his head rests on the back of the couch watching you. Haechan is still blissed out but watching intensely and the other two sit quietly, waiting for you to finish with their friend.
You climb onto his lap, a thigh on either side and press your lips to his while sinking down in his cock. He moans into your mouth and you mix them with your own. He holds you nervously, unsure where to touch you as you rock back and forth on his cock.
His fingers dig into your side and you reach a hand between your bodies, meeting with your needy clit. You rub circles, causing you to clench around his cock and the feeling of his cum spurting into you tosses you over the edge.
You bounce quickly, not wanting to slow down the orgasm anymore and allow yourself to be taken over with another. All the while, Renjun moans and moans until he’s fully spent inside of you.
You feel your ass clenching around the tail and you feel so full being stuffed again and again.
Renjun is on the border of passing out and you jump from him.
YangYang reaches his arm out to grab you but you find it entertaining to tease him and you slip from his grasp, making your way to Jaemin and Jeno.
“Hey, bunny,” Jeno smiles.
You smile sweetly, wobbling on your weak legs and he pulls you into his lap.
“How about we take her together?” he asks Jaemin.
“Sounds good to me.”
He lifts you with ease and lays you gently on the couch they were sitting on. He gives your tail a little tug, causing you to yelp but you all giggle together after.
“Has anyone ever told you how cute you are tonight?” Jaemins strokes your cheeks.
You shake your head, melting into his touch.
“Hm, we could tell her,” Jeno suggests. “Or we could show her.”
You whine, feeling your pussy flutter with excitement as if it hadn’t already had enough.
“I think she wants us to show her.” Jaemin smiles and you feel yourself drift to cloud nine when they both look down at you between them.
Jeno places himself between your legs, pressing a long kiss to your ankles before placing them on his shoulder. Jaemin, on the other hand, unbuckles his belt and pulls out his cock. He lets it hang freely, waiting for you to grab it.
A groan escapes him and his knees tremble when you begin stroking. You pull him closer, letting your tongue taste his precum.
“Ah! Fuck, bunny. You’re such a good girl.”
You squeal when you feel Jeno pressing his cock into your sopping hole. Your pussy flutters around him as he pushes his way in. You’re so overwhelmed yet you keep wanting more.
You take all of Jaemin into your mouth, moving your head as much as you could in this position and Jeno thrusts deeper, slow and hard.
You moan around Jaemin’s cock, vibrations running through his body and when he can’t take it anymore, he grabs a handful of your hair before thrusting into your mouth.
His cock hits the back of your throat, bringing tears to your eyes but you blink them away, not wanting to distort the image of the two men using you like their personal fleshtoy.
Fuck, you feel so hot.
Your core is so tense and you can feel every ridge of Jeno’s cock in your pussy. He slams harder, faster, pace picking up and rhythm growing messy. He’s close.
“Fuck!” you mumble around Jaemin’s cock.
They both groan, griping onto anything they can and you’re about to cum all over Jeno’s cock when he pulls out. You whine but he uses his fist to empty his load all over your pussy.
Your muscles twitch endlessly and Jaemin pulls out of your mouth only to push Jeno out of the way and replace him inside of you.
“Fuck, you’re so dirty,” he groans. “But so fucking cute.”
He thrusts into you and you let your entire body relax in his hold. His arms wrap around your waist and he kisses the exposed skin of your chest and neck, using his hands to grope your tits.
Your walls flutter around him and you feel the sting of pleasure once again.
“Harder!” you cry.
He heeds your demand and fucks you relentlessly, letting his cum spill freely in your pussy.
“Oh my god!”
You cum together and everyone groans with you. Your head digs into the couch and your hips rise up to meet Jaemin’s until he holds you both still together, brushing your hair away from your sweaty face.
He shushes you and guides your breathing until you’ve come down from your high once more.
Then he takes your hand and lifts you into an upright position, placing a gentle kiss on you’re forehead.
“Did so well, bunny. You okay?” he asks gently.
You nod, slowly and completely exhausted.
Everyone has collapsed onto their backs, letting the couches swallow them whole.
It must have been quite the show.
For all but one.
“Got one more for me?” YangYang smirks.
You crawl over to him, collapsing on his lap with your thighs on either side. His cock is already out and he’s lining it up with your entrance immediately.
He leaves a small kiss in the crook of your neck before sinking you down on his cock.
You rest your head on his shoulder while he lifts your hips up and down on his lap.
“Oh, my god!” he groans. “Waited so fucking long but it was worth it.”
You don’t register how fast he’s slamming you on his cock, nor how hard his fingers dig into your flesh but you use whatever energy still existing in your body to move your thighs.
“That’s right, bunny. Show me how good you can bounce.”
His words spur you on and the raspiness in his voice elates your heartbeat despite it being impossible to beat any faster.
You feel yourself clench one more time and you spill all of your juices onto him. It’s too much, you can’t hold anything back despite having nothing left to give.
“Fuck, she’s squirting!”
YangYang lifts his hips up when he brings you down on him and you feel him reaching even deeper.
“Ah!” you cry. “Too much!”
“Finally had enough?” he growls into your ear.
You nod desperately.
“Can’t take my cock anymore?”
“It’s too good!”
“Fuck, do you want me to stop or not?”
“No! Don’t stop! Please, don’t stop!”
YangYang thrusts harder and he bites into your shoulder. You’re amazed at how your dress was able to stay on this whole time but it slips down further and further, not exposing your chest fully but showing just enough of your tits to drive them all crazy.
One look at them bouncing is enough make YangYang lose all of his control.
“Ah! I’m cumming!” you cry, letting one more, and hopefully the last, orgasm wash over you.
“Fuck! Me too!”
His hips tremor when he pushes himself balls deep in you. They remain flush against your pussy until you feel his cum stop pouring out.
And when he pulls out, his cum drips out of your pussy and back onto his softening cock.
They all groan as you fall to the side, spreading your legs to show them how all of their cum decorates your body.
You’re so fucking messy, sweaty and covered in cum but you don’t care.
All of you sit quietly for a while, not a word spared between you until you’ve caught your breath and attempt to sit upright.
Jaemin and YangYang aid you and help you stand on wobbling legs.
“Are you okay?”
“I think so…” you gasp as you feel the cum dribble down your legs.
“That was fucking amazing…” Haechan says.
And the others agree with him. Renjun just hums in his blissed out state while YangYang strokes your thighs from behind.
“You were amazing. How did you even handle all of that?”
“Because she’s such a good bunny.” Jeno teased but leaves a sweet kiss on your cheek, and Jaemin beings you some tissues and helps you start wiping yourself.
Only now do they remove their masks and it feels refreshing to finally see their handsome faces.
Your entire body trembles gently while they take care of you, making sure to compliment you at any second they get. But a loud click catches everyone’s attention and your body jolts when the door opens.
Terrified of being caught, you grab onto Jaemin and pull him in front of you, but you freeze upon seeing who entered the room.
“Shotaro…” you gasp and pull down your dress as if it would hide the fact that you just fucked all of his friends.
“YN?”
He looks somewhat disheartened as he walks deeper into the room. Music still beats through the walls and your heart hammers with it.
As he gets closer, you see his eyes swim with emotion. And to your surprise, his entire demeanour changes from his usual softness to something dark and dominating. You’ve never seen him like this before but the numbness in your body slowly fades, replacing itself with excitement.
The room is silent as he guides your chin upwards to look him in the eyes.
His warm fingers caress your cheeks and as he stares deep into your soul, his hands slide down to your hips, pulling you so close to him that you can’t escape.
“Looks like someone’s been a bad bunny.”

“Since when do you investigate recently paroled convicts?” you ask, looking out over Metropolis. “This seems like more of Clark’s thing. Literally, journalist Clark could do this far easier.”
Bruce sighs, and you smile. You can exhaust him from miles away.
“Because he started in Gotham, and I want to make sure he doesn’t come back,” Bruce answers.
“And I’m still in sunny Superman-city, why? Our boy bought a plane ticket three hours ago.”
“Until he goes to the airport, I want your eyes on him.”
“And then what? He disappears, free to con people who don’t have a Batman?”
“You do it on purpose,” Bruce accuses. “If you’re done asking questions, I’ve got news.”
“Also Clark’s thing,” you quip.
“Never mind. You can stay in Metropolis.”
“You love me, Bats. I’ll stop; tell me.”
“Against our better judgment, we all do.”
You smile, remembering the first night you put on a mask and took to the streets of Gotham. One of your best friends had been permanently altered by Scarecrow toxin, and you were done being scared in your own home. The same week, before you really grasped just how dangerous what you were doing could be, you ran into Robin. Batman wasn’t with him, but you soon met him, too. Robin was your age, reckless, and had a heart-stopping smile, so when he asked you to stay with him, you agreed. Batman reluctantly agreed, likely more interested in getting you off the streets than anything. After a few months, Dick trusted you enough to remove his domino mask, and Bruce sighed as he followed suit. Your relationship with Dick, both in and out of the Robin suit, made you part of two families: The Waynes and the Bats and Birds of Gotham. Every new addition to the family and the team pushed you and Dick closer, and you know what your feelings toward him are, but you have to remind yourself daily that losing him isn’t worth getting it off your chest.
“Still there?” Batman asks.
“Sorry, yeah, I’m here,” you answer quickly, standing as you watch the sun go down.
“There’s going to be a slight detour on your way back.”
“Just tell me it’s somewhere warmer than Gotham,” you joke.
“Much. Nightwing – Dick – will meet you at the airport.”
You want to laugh at the strain in his voice as he says Dick’s name, but your attention catches on another word.
“Airport?”
✯✯✯✯✯
“Welcome to paradise, babe,” Dick greets, pulling you into a warm hug as you walk through the airport doors.
“Thanks,” you murmur, closing your eyes and letting him envelop you completely.
He keeps an arm over your shoulders, leading you to an expensive rental car. After tossing your small bag in the back, he holds your hand over the console, looking into your eyes and smiling.
“I have a question,” he begins. You nod, and Dick’s smile grows. “Will you marry me?”
Your eyes widen as you tell yourself that it’s for the mission.
“A thousand times yes,” you answer, watching Dick slide the ring onto your left ring finger.
“I was hoping you’d say that.”
Your hand remains in Dick’s as he begins driving, your dream life with him coming to life around you.
“I checked in when I got here this morning. The honeymoon suite is nice,” Dick says distractedly.
“Honeymoon suite?” you repeat.
Dick hums, and you lower your gaze from his profile to the ring on your finger. It’s going to be a long few days.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Your suitcase is in the closet,” Dick says, leading you into the small cottage with a hand on your back. He sees your confused look and laughs. “I packed a few things for you, I didn’t think you’d have beachwear with you in Metropolis.”
“Thank you.”
Dick lays back on the bed, propping his head up on his hands as he watches you open the closet.
“There’s a white bikini in there that I’m pretty proud of. I think it’s a better choice than you would have made.”
You roll your eyes before looking at the beachy pastels, sundresses, and swimsuits filling the bag. Dick chose things you have always wanted to wear but never felt good enough to buy for yourself. Losing your focus, you finger through the different fabrics, jumping slightly when Dick’s arms wrap around your waist.
“We have dinner reservations tonight, so pick a good one,” he whispers.
“Looks like they’re all good ones.”
“I have excellent taste,” Dick replies with an absent-minded tap to your wedding ring.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Good evening,” Dick greets the couple sharing a table with you. He pulls your seat out, keeping his hand in yours as he sits beside you.
“My, you two are just the most handsome couple I’ve ever seen,” the woman exclaims, leaning toward you. “You picked a fine one, didn’t you, dear?”
You glance over at Dick and smile. “I sure did.”
Dick’s thumb runs over your knuckles, and you let yourself go in the act. Losing yourself, you adopt this character of being a wife to the man you’ve loved for years.
As you eat and talk to the other couples celebrating engagements, weddings, and anniversaries, you lean against Dick’s side, playing with his fingers. After one particularly romantic comment about your eyes, you raise Dick’s hand to your lips, kissing the knuckle below his ring. He turns toward you with a big smile, pecking your forehead before pulling you closer. You could get used to this, which is incompatible with an undercover mission.
✯✯✯✯✯
The proximity is killing you. Dick is so close that you could touch him, and you do, but you try to show some restraint. You set boundaries long ago, including one stating that you would never kiss one another purely for Batman’s never-ending mission. Your firm position on that boundary wavers more with each moment. This island is doing something to you, and you’re terrified that it will ruin your relationship with Dick.
Every time Dick smiles at you or takes your hand, running his finger over the fake ring on your hand, it’s like a glimpse straight out of your dream life. Right now, reclined on the beach in a bikini of Dick’s choosing, though, the dream falls apart.
“Dick,” you whisper, tapping your shoulder against his chest.
He pulls his hand away from your hair, a flower you didn’t see him pick braided into a small section of your hair.
“There’s our guy,” you mumble after he hums, pointing with your chin.
“He coming toward us?” Dick asks, running a sandy hand over your arm.
“Not right now. If he’s looking for the same kind of victim as in Gotham, we’re going to have to set a trap.”
“How?”
You turn toward him, frowning as you answer, “Get in a fight and let me storm off.”
Dick’s eyes drop away from yours before nodding. “Not yet,” he mumbles. “It has to look real.”
“Dinner?” you ask, brushing his hair back.
His eyes flutter closed as he nods, aware that the social setting will make enough of a scene. That doesn’t mean Dick wants to do it, though, nor is he sure about using you as bait.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Do I look okay? This fits weird,” you complain, tugging the white sundress down on the sides.
Dick appears behind you, holding your wrists still as he meets your eyes in the mirror. He pulls your back to his chest, looping his arms over your waist.
“You look beautiful – you are beautiful,” Dick whispers. “So beautiful that I don’t know if I can yell at you.”
“We can change the plan. Pretend like we’ve been arguing all afternoon in private, and I can just choose a moment to storm off,” you offer.
“I don’t want to fight with you at all,” Dick amends.
“Hey.” You turn in his arms, looping yours over his shoulders. “This isn’t real, okay? I will never treat you like this.”
Dick nods, dropping his head to press his forehead against yours.
“Promise?”
You nod, dragging a finger along Dick’s jaw. “I promise.”
✯✯✯✯✯
“Yeah,” you mumble, fiddling with the napkin in your lap. “I got it earlier.”
Dick made a passing comment about working with others, glancing toward you at the end, and you took the opportunity to start a fight. The target, Bruce’s con man, is several tables away, but his eyes are on you. Dick’s eyes drop, and you desperately want to cup his chin and apologize.
“Working with women can be hard though,” someone says, continuing the conversation.
“It certainly can,” Dick agrees.
You stand up, silently tossing your napkin onto the table before you walk out. Navigating through the crowded tables, you take a deep breath when you exit and hear footsteps behind you.
“’Scuse me?” he asks.
You slow before you stop, turning toward him and wiping an imaginary tear.
“I’m sorry, I overheard and just wanted to make sure you’re okay. I’m a marriage counselor and I wouldn’t feel right about leaving you here upset.”
“I’m fine, or I will be,” you answer, slightly impressed with how easily he slipped into the lie. “It’s just frustrating to be married, and I wasn’t expecting it to be so different.”
“Marriage counseling is a great option even for newly-weds. I actually have a pay by the appointment service here on the island, if you’re interested.”
“Oh, really? That- actually, yeah, that sounds amazing. What do I need to do?”
“$1,000 cash, up front, and then you can come by anytime.”
“Soliciting for a false business is illegal,” a resort security guard says as he approaches. “I’m going to need to take you to the office for questioning.”
“Really, me? Because her husband looks a lot like the Wayne kid from Gotham, not Gray Todd or whatever he said his name was,” the conman argues. “What about impersonation?”
Dick walks outside just as the security guard looks toward you.
“What’s going on out here?” Dick asks, laying his hand against the small of your back. “Are you okay?” he adds quietly.
You nod and press back against him gently. “This guy was trying to steal our money, apparently.”
“Someone called in a tip that he’s been posing as a marriage counselor,” the security guard fills in. “Though, do you folks have ID?”
Dick removes his fake ID from his wallet, and you’re surprised when he hands one over for you too.
“Your last names aren’t the same, are these up to date?”
“I haven’t gotten my updated license yet,” you answer. “We haven’t been married long.”
“Ask them questions separately and they won’t be able to answer. They’re the con artists, not me!” the conman cries.
“Maybe I should take you two in for questioning too.”
“On what grounds?” Dick asks with an incredulous chuckle. “What would I need to do to convince you we’re married? This is ridiculous!”
You glance over, and a crowd is gathering at the door, so you tap Dick’s side to alert him. He takes a deep breath before speaking again.
“I’d like to speak to your manager in the morning, but for now, are we free to go?”
The security guard also sees the crowd and hesitates before nodding. Dick leads you away and back toward the cottage but pulls you to a stop at the bottom of the stairs.
“Are you okay?” you ask, looking over his face.
“People are still watching us and we need to keep this up or they won’t believe us,” Dick whispers.
“We’re leaving tomorrow. Does it matter?”
“If they think we’re not really married, they can’t prove anything about our guy. Then we just look like we lied to get a nicer cottage.”
You nod and ask, “So what do we do to prove it?”
Your arms are around Dick, you’re as close as physically possible, so you’re not sure what else you can do to look like you’re in love. Especially considering you are in love with him.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers before raising his hand to the back of your neck and kissing you.
He picks you up, a strong arm under your hips as he carries you up the stairs. You grip his shirt at the collar, returning the kiss but refusing to deepen it. As Dick unlocks the door, you drop your head to his shoulder and glance at the dissipating crowd, only a few people left who don’t mind imposing on a private moment.
Once you’re inside and Dick sets you down, he steps back.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I know it was the one rule, but I didn’t know what else to do,” he rambles, carding his fingers through his hair. “Sorry.”
You hold a hand up to stop his pacing and shrug. “We had to. It’s fine.”
Dick nods, another whispered apology rolling off his tongue before he offers to let you use the bathroom first. When he steps back, that proximity you thought would break you is taken away, and you realize that is was holding you together all along.
✯✯✯✯✯
When you walk out of the bathroom, Dick is staring out the window. The dark beach holds his attention until he stands wordlessly. Then, when Dick returns from the shower, he doesn’t speak to you. Opening your mouth, you want to ask him something, say anything, but he sits at the far side of the king-sized bed and makes himself comfortable with his back to you.
The last few nights, you started on opposite sides of the bed but woke up with Dick’s arm over your waist and both of you in the middle. Those moments are being ripped away from you, though, and you’re not sure why. If it’s the kiss, you told him it was fine. Dick is usually the one ready and willing to talk about this kind of stuff, but he is shutting you out.
Hating the distance and craving his closeness, you whisper, “Are you mad at me?”
The answer is barely audible, a sigh of, “Of course not.”
You breathe a small sigh of relief, moving your hand to the middle of the bed like an olive branch. “Then what happened? I’m really not mad about the kiss, Dick.”
Dick rolls over, his eyes bright in the minimal light of the cottage as he takes your hand (again). “I don’t want this to end,” he confesses.
After contemplating what this could mean, you whisper, “It doesn’t have to.”
Dick sits up, pulling you in, slow and methodical as he kisses you this time. As he pulls you into his lap, you enjoy knowing that there’s no rush or fear or lies behind this, just you, Dick, and the love between you.
“Maybe we should get married,” he mumbles against your lips. “Bruce will pay for a few more days.”
You pull back with a breathless laugh. “And listen to your brothers after they find out you eloped? No thanks.”
“So, you won’t marry me?” Dick asks, looking up at you perched on his legs.
“I’ll marry you as many times as you want, Dick Grayson.”
“Different honeymoon suite each time?” Dick jokes.
You duck your head against his chest as he laughs, gladly letting him hold you close for one more quiet, slow night before you return to Gotham.
“We need to pack, our flight is at 10,” you remind him.
“Don’t forget the white one,” he says against your cheek, leaving kisses along your face.
You are returning to Gotham with something far better than a new bikini or souvenir: Dick Grayson’s love running through your veins and your heart safely in his hold.

Bonus:
"It worked, Alfred."
"Excellent news, Master Bruce. Perhaps you could be the next to go on a trip and come back with a woman in your life."

Can i have Lisa,Eula and jean with an academic S/O who became smart through hard work , but still feeling like they are not smart enough?
Thanks for your writing btw they have been helping me whenever i feel down
school’s finna start soon so I’m glad I was able to get to this at a nice time. also, you’re welcome lovely! if you ever feel down just know that I’m always here for you and I’m here to stay. this blog right here proves it and this is for everyone else as well!
btw this is heavy in dialogues–ish. ( not proofread lol)
Tumblr media
“ your cute little nose has been buried in those books for a while now, darling. i almost mistaken you for jean. “ lisa jokes sweetly, placing her hand on your back as she peeks over your shoulder to take a quick glance at your progress. you’ve tucked yourself away in the small corner of the library for the past few hours and now it’s almost closing time. for the time you been there, she doesn’t think she seen you out of that chair.
“ sorry lisa, “ you awkwardly laughed, “ i’ve been stuck on this formula for a bit. i still need to figure out the base ingredient for making the heatshield potion. “ she hums, her eyes skimming over the question and then your written out work. she rubs your back soothingly before she answers, “ you got almost everything down packed cutie but what you’re missing is butterfly wings. “
butterfly wings? was it really that simple?
you groaned, crossing your arms. “ that was such an easy and common answer, lisa. why didn’t i get that?” she chuckles airily and kissed your temple. “ don’t beat yourself over it too much. alchemy can be simple at times despite it being really complex. when i studied at the sumeru academy, even i was having trouble with some of the fundamentals and properties of alchemy. “
“ yes but lisa, compared to me, you’re, well—you! you’re a genius. you had to have gotten it right the first time every time! “
lisa frowns at your words. “ which was due to my insatiable hunger for knowledge back then. I can’t deny that i am more academically–gifted than others but you can only go so far with just pure talent. many people unfortunately doesn’t understand that. “
her words sinks in, you felt stupid for even exerting your frustrations on your lover, she was just trying to help you. “ no need to look so ashamed, darling. i understand how you feel completely, trust me. however, don’t let this discourage you from your studies. i really do admire your work ethic, you remind me of my younger self. . in a better way if i should say. “ she pats your shoulder and yawns.
“ with that being said, it’s just about time for me to close the library. since you haven’t gotten out of that chair, that rear of yours must be sore. so why don’t you be a cutie and help me put everything back up? i’ll reward you with kisses after~ “

eula steps inside of the shared home with a deep sigh. after a long day of the usual nonsense with the locals and patrolling she wants nothing more than to settle in bed with you. she takes off her heels and steps into the unusually dark living room. weird, normally you’d wait in the living room for her with open arms and a huge smile but you’re nowhere to be found. her first thought would of been you going to sleep since she did arrive late later in the night this time. that was until she notices a dim light at the end of the hallway from the shared bedroom.
she raises a brow and made her way down the hallway. “ unbelievable. “ eula mutters under her breath as she sees your hunched over figure at the desk, studying. “ you were like this when i left in the afternoon! “ you jumped at the sound of her voice and smiled apologetically at her, rubbing the back of your neck. “ my dear, you’re back! sorry, i got caught up with the material and i didn’t notice you’ve came in. “ the woman scoffed, crossing her arms with disdain. “ not greeting me at the door is something I can live with, but coming home to you cramped up in this room is ridiculous. did you even take a break, eat, or even come out of this room? “
you avert your gaze to the floor, swallowing thickly. eula impatiently taps her foot, waiting for your response. “ well? “
“. . . .uh, no? “
“ what the devil! what’s the meaning of this? you’ve been like this for the past few days! are there any exams I should know about that’s coming up? “
“ . . .no, “ eula was about to scold you but she stops herself as the sad look on your face makes itself known. her heart drops at the sight.“ i. .feel like i’m inadequate. seeing the people around me thrive while i’m stuck at a standstill. .hurts. “ you admitted, lips pursing into a tight line. eula stands there by the doorway in silence, finding the right words to say. she understands you fully, it scares her of how familiar this set up is. it was like she was hearing her inner thoughts when she was younger.
she sighs, “ don’t you dare say that, (name). you’re not inadequate at all. “ she walks over to you and rests her hand over yours. “ think of it like this, people have their own way of dancing, some may like to go slow or fast in terms of tempo to reach the end of their song. but, do you know what matters most for that to happen? “
“ practice and stamina? you’ve practiced dancing all your life, eula, wouldn’t you say those are crucial? “
“ yesn’t. i’m also trying to be more practical here, mind you. it’s about discipline and grit. you can’t have a good practice routine if you can’t separate yourself from distractions. you most certainly won’t have good stamina if you don’t have the grit to work yourself through inevitable trials and errors. i’m the way i am today not only because of the aristocratic ways but because of those two things. “
she takes it upon herself to close the book in your hands and sets it somewhere on the desk. a soft frown adorns her lips, “ but you also have to maintain your health as well, both physically and mentally. so whatever this you’ve been doing—needs to stop. now, come and get ready to go to bed with me my love, i demand for my nightly cuddles. “
Tumblr media
“ my love, why are you up so late? “ you jumped in surprise at the familiar concerned voice and a hand touching your shoulder. you whipped your head around to see your lover, who had a worried smile on her face. if she was already home then it must of been almost midnight by now! you started studying around midday. “ oh jean, uh, i was just catching up on some notes. “ you explained, gesturing towards the set of papers in front of you. the blonde peered over your shoulder to take a look with a curious glint in her eyes. “ ah. .my apologies but, i don’t remember you mentioning anything about homework or exams coming up, no? “
you scratched the back of your neck nervously, “ no, i didn’t, i just wanted to study. “
“ and. .when did you start? “ jean asked softly.
“ erm, probably like two or three hours after you left?”
jean almost gasped before clearing her throat. “ i know that i’m not the one to talk about taking breaks but. .did you perhaps get a chance to take a walk or anything of the sorts? “ there was a short pause before you responded with a meek voice, “ . .no, no i didn’t. b-but to be fair, i lost track of. .— “
noticing your nervous demeanor, she lightly squeezes your shoulder and kisses the top of your head affectionately. “ i understand. you must be tired and hungry, do you want me to cook something while you rest in bed? “
“ no jean, i’m fine. you just got done with your official duties, it’s okay—“
“ i insist, dear. here, take my hand. “ with a warm smile dancing upon her lips, she holds out her hand for you to take. you tentatively take it and jean gently pulls you up. you stumbled a bit due to your sleeping legs but jean was quick to hold you steady. “ are you alright? do you need me to carry you to bed? “ she asks, her oceanic blue eyes filled with worry.
you chuckled softly, “ absolutely not, sweetheart. i can walk. let’s not put your back at risk here too. “ a light blush stains her cheeks; jean quietly leads you to your shared bed for you to rest. “ I-I will go prepare dinner for us, please stay in bed dear! “ she says shyly before scrambling off to the kitchen to hide the redness of her face as she hears your growing laughter.

sunshine peered through the cream colored curtains of the fourth floor suite where (y/n) and your unexpected guest had spent the better part of yesterday evening and the early morning hours..making love until dawn reached the horizon. The entire room; a disheveled mess of clothes, bedsheets, alcohol and your bodily fluids. The result of filthy, unadulterated, rough sex. Taking you from the bed, the front of the mirror where he forced you to stare at yourself getting those deep strokes to the shower, where you let the cascading water drench your bodies as you exchanged slow tongue kisses. What transpired was something neither of you expected nor did you think would’ve taken place this soon. It was only weeks ago that you were backstage at the club, complete strangers and nothing more. Pacing the floor as you mentally prepared yourself to go hype up a crowd of thousands of strangers. Nervous because not only was it your first time but you were doing so alongside a man that you had admired for years. One of the only handful of celebrities that caused you to be awestruck and that managed to make you swoon. And intimidated you all the same! EJ the Don was a name synonymous with being less than friendly. He was very selective about who he allowed into his energy and it was safe to say that ninety five percent of the industry didn’t make the cut. He hated agendas and politicking. You, of course, were not expecting to be a part of the select few that he’d rock with. Especially when he gave you friendly advice about how to navigate life in the limelight and how to get through the event.
“Well for one, you can start by not treating me like some type of god. I’m just some regular motherfucker that happens to make music. I promise, you don’t have to tiptoe around me. Second, you got picked for this job, didn’t you? So that means you did something right because if I know anything about Mikasa, she doesn’t hire just anyone when her reputation is on the line..stop stressing and be yourself.”
it was the very first time since you had begun to intermesh in these circles that you had heard someone dismiss their fame, especially someone with his notoriety. He was so smooth with how he uttered it too. Most of these people threw their names around as if it were currency and it’d afford them every luxury they wanted. Not him! He didn’t want to be seen as some snobby, famed personality that not even his peers couldn’t even approach. You were so worried that he’d feel like working with you would be beneath him but not even close. “You smoke, sweetheart? I feel like you could use a puff or two.” He was funny, charming and super sweet. Naturally, you’d take a hit and it was up from there. “Trust me, it’s the only way I’ll be able to go out here and do this. I’ll let you in on a secret that not everyone knows about me. I have social anxiety like a bitch..may not look it but I hate being around all these people. Makes me nervous..even after all this time. My first performance? I ended getting so sick, I almost had to call it off..” Telling you as if the two of you had known each other for years. “Guess that makes two of us, huh?” As honored as you were, you didn’t understand why. It wasn’t if you could go reference interviews with the man and find out these tidbits of information. Although it was apparent by the way his right leg kept jumping as time approached. But he could’ve fooled you when he hit the stage. Completely different person and a grade A performer..so much energy and charisma, you were thrilled to be watching. Not to mention when he pulled you on the stage and crooned to you. Singing the lyrics to one of his sexiest songs. Tipping your chin up and singing to you like a man to his lover. You nearly fell apart..fast forward almost a month and it would seem he somewhat manifested it. The whole thing was sort of impromptu but even so…
“..Mmm, good morning, beautiful.”
“Good morning to you too..”
you were so happy that it took place!
swaddled up in the disheveled sheets, you’d roll over and glide a hand over Eren’s muscular chest..riddled with various pieces of inked artwork. His arm cradled around your shoulders and his lips pressed to yours. It was as if the two of you couldn’t keep your hands to yourself. An attraction that neither of you had felt towards anyone in a long time. Normally, he’d be gone before the girl could even wake up or send her on her way the night prior with an Uber and enough cash for a Plan B if needed. He didn’t really do hookups all that often nor had he been with anyone who made him want to stick around..less known fly out to be with them. It was something about you that had him stuck. You were so cold, raw as hell and quite honestly..the finest woman he had ever been with. And him? No man had ever managed to get you out of your clothes that fast. The way he put that dick on you, you were five seconds from telling him he had to stay. Not to mention how fine and sweet he was! Your inbox hasn't stopped blowing up with threats of fighting you because this man camped out in your comments nowadays. Playfully flirting, knowing that it was all one big joke between the two of you. Maybe that’s why it all happened so suddenly. Your makeout session ensued for a little while; even finding yourself on top of him as he caressed your back, rubbing on your ass and feeling every inch of your skin. Not wanting it to end as he longed for the touch of a woman whom he could feel comfortable with for so long. He hadn’t been this relaxed since he’d been in the industry and it would be almost ten years. Which was sad when he thought about it. Regardless, he knew he couldn’t let his guard down entirely. This game was a funny thing and even if you wouldn’t run your mouth, he knew plenty that would..which would become a huge headache. All it took in this town was one bad photo opp or word of mouth to spread like wildfire and your business was front street on Twitter. The main reason why he stayed to himself is that when he popped out. Especially with a new chick on his arm, then the focus and conversation left his music and the poor girl had to endure harassment. When they may have been nothing more than acquaintances at best. It was irksome, for both parties. For him, his craft meant everything to him and nothing could stand between that. Not even the baddest bitch on the internet and you were definitely holding the title. As it stood, the two of you had no plans to make things official or even start dating. Hell, you didn’t even know if the feelings and emotions were there for that. But you did want to keep..whatever this was going for a little while longer. A warm smile cracked across Eren’s lips whilst yours hovered above them. “You keep doing that, I don’t think I’ll be able to leave.” And honestly, it was just fine with you. He could stay here and stay in it as long as he desired. “Who said you had to?” Nothing like waking up to a little lazy fucking. Mumbling against your lips, he’d whisper to you..asking if you wanted to put it back in and by the wide grin on your face, it was obvious. So with a firm grip on your asscheeks, he’d hoist you up and place you back down atop his dick. Subtly nestling it inside of your warmth. Both of you, moaning at the sensation. Releasing a collective “oh my gosh..” unable to believe that this was all taking place so suddenly. “You feel so good..” Even so, it was a moment that you didn’t want to end so soon. You weren’t ready for your dream to be over in just a flash. Draping your clasped arms around his neck and his to the small of your back, you’d make love yet again with the freshly risen sunshine falling cast over your bodies. Kissing, touching, gripping on every inch of each other’s flesh. Drinking it in. Soaking in each other’s scent.. “Don’t stop, baby..right there.” “Just like that..” riding him clean to another climax and although this was the most fun that either of you had had in a very long time, your conscience couldn’t help but to rear its ugly head..
this isn’t right..God, I know I’m not supposed to be here. Doing this..with him. With a man I barely know. It’s not like me. Not even remotely close. I don’t do one night stands and random hookups..letting a man get this pussy that I can’t even say ‘I love you’ to? Fuck no. I don’t remember the last time I’ve let a man near me be less known, inside of me. Hell, my friends might say I play it too safe, even a little boring. But even so, I wanted–no, scratch that. I needed him. Needed him to tell me I was beautiful, that I felt better than anyone he had ever been with..saying the things that no one’s ever told me. Am I wrong? Does that make me a bad person? Am I terrible for wanting to have my cake and eat it too? To work hard and play as well? I’m working so hard in my career, trying to make this all work. Dancing, this social media shit..I want to win so bad. But I want to live too..I want to enjoy the process while I’m in it. Is that too much to ask for?
all questions you’d have to sit and ponder on at a later date because at the moment , you were being thrust up and down, his face between your breasts as he popped them in and out of his mouth. Giggling and whimpering into his ear with light huffs escaping your mouth as well. Your eyes lazily fixated on one another before he interrupted the kiss. “Why’d you quit?” to which he’d snicker, smirking as he looked down at the bed; still clutching you by the hips..close within his grasp. “Cause I’m a hypocrite, that’s why..” reluctantly shoving your smaller frame back with a gentle press. “Shit..I’m sorry, (y/n).” Suddenly, you could feel your heart descend to the pit of your stomach. Were you about to hear the dreaded words that you’d hope to never be uttered? That this was all a one night rendezvous but he had to go? That he had only come for a quick nut but he was leaving? Alas, you’d have your answer soon. And it was neither the former nor the latter. But instead..
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that I talked all that shit about how much I respected your work ethic..grind and shit. How you didn’t choose that bullshit over your bag. Now here I am taking you from that…” admitting with a muffled groan into your collarbone. Placing your hands to his shoulder blades, you’d glare up at EJ, glancing at him before bursting into laughter. You didn’t mean to but you truly couldn’t help it when you saw the look on his face.
“Sorry for what? It’s not like I turned you away at the door, and told you to get the fuck out. As you can see, I’m enjoying myself very..very much.” Declaring as you traced a trail down his bare chest whilst leaving a soft peck to his lips. “I am too..” obviously smitten and staring dumbfounded at your body as your hands traced his torso. “Actually, it’s the most fun I’ve had in a long time. It’s something different ‘bout you. I swear..” words that normally would’ve meant nothing when a man uttered them. Hell, they should’ve meant nothing coming from him and yet, your heart couldn’t help but flutter a little. “Forreal?” “Shit, you think I’d come all the way out here for just anybody? You haven’t stayed off my mind since I met you..” Still, it wasn’t safe to get ahead of yourself. Rather, it was best to play it cool and just take things slow. So that’s when EJ devised an ideal plan..
“Tell you what. Imma be in Houston for a few more days..you go handle your business. I know your girls are prolly worried sick. I got some things to take care of out here myself. When you’re done, you know where to find me. Sound good?” Although the last thing you wanted to do right now was leave this bed, less known this room, he was right. You guys were working professionals with soaring careers and a lot of responsibility. It was only the heat of the moment and your hormones that had you being this reckless but it was time to get yourselves together. Reluctantly lifting you off of his lap, Eren set you by his side, but not without leaving you with a few passionate kisses to get through the day. When he withdrew on the last one, he’d tug your bottom lip along with him, gently between his teeth as your palms resided on his cheek. “You promise?” “Swear.” With that, the two of you would prepare to head out for the day. You, going to the shower to cleanse yourself of last night and the morning’s activities. And him to his respective room, that was on the floor above yours. It was the only way to ensure that you didn’t find yourselves entangled in the web of lust yet again. “Have a good day, beautiful. I’ll see you later.” “Byeee.” So getting out undetected might have been a task in itself. So he’d grab his hoodie, sweats and a hat, hoping to evade anyone wanting to strike up a conversation or snap a couple involuntary candids of the rapper. Truth was, EJ The Don had something that many stars today didn't and that was a true sense of celebrity. Not so much being a diva or putting himself on a pedestal, because he was humble as fuck and super down to earth if you ever met him, but in the way of him not broadcasting his business for the world to see. He didn’t want his privacy invaded. So in the event of some seedy journalist seeing him leave someone else’s hotel room, looking disheveled and crazy, chatter was sure to fly. For now, he had to let you go and deal with some loose ends of his own. He had a homeboy out here needing some mixing and mastering done for his new project and who else better to have their stamp on it than Eren himself. Besides, it’d provide the perfect distraction and keep him occupied. Music was the one thing he always counted on to be consistent and that he never had to worry about being disappointed by. Something people did all too often and he honestly hoped you were different.
once you were finally alone though, you’d find yourself releasing a heavy sigh as you leaned against the door. You couldn’t help but to feel a little flustered and annoying at the fact that you were almost two seconds from pouting and begging this man to stay. It was a little embarrassing even. Nonetheless, he was right. Time to get back to business. And not a moment too soon. Because your phone was ablaze with texts from the group chat, missed calls and an incoming voice message from Ms. Ackerman. You had a gig tonight and that you couldn’t miss for anyone, including EJ! This very well may have been the biggest artist that the Pole Assassins as a collective have performed for. Not to mention, you getting the opportunity to be a host again so there were many different things to look forward to. But that sentiment couldn’t be mirrored by the woman who oversaw both of your careers. In fact, to say she was aggravated..not by you but her oldest client, would have to be a very gross understatement! But she all but had a plan to ignite a fire underneath the stubborn brat. The one thing she could always count on to get him moving was a question of his talent and a little competition.
while the two of you were making arrangements to go to rehearsal and to the studio, Mikasa was currently working behind the scenes on a master plan to make him get his ass back in the booth and put out something that would have everyone from die hard fans to habitual haters alike talking. Sitting in the backseat of her chauffeured car, the executive manager tapped away at her phone..eventually forming a wide smile across her face. Eventually, breaking into a laugh. “You know, the devil works hard..but goddamnit, Annie Leonhart. You work faster. If this doesn’t spark something in him, I don’t know what will.” Glaring down at the phone, a bold printed headline read: “Fans Disappointed After Rolling Loud Headliner Set, Rapper Sparks Online Debate.”
followed by a puffed up piece that went on to say: ‘Rapper EJ The Don, infamously known as the Underground God, his Living Dead Boy l and ll albums, as well as his dark and mysterious aesthetic, along with his outspoken personality that have captivated many. An artist branding himself on being anti industry and not adhering to any of the typical rules and politics, his music and personality have gripped millions. But adoring fans, both old and new, couldn't help but to be left with a bitter taste in their mouths amid the final and headlining act of Miami’s biggest night in music. Appearing as a surprise guest not even listed on the docket. Even so, the crowd saw an influx of attendees and morale once EJ made his way to the stage. Where many would be thinning out and departing for the evening, a plethora of spectators remained for the long awaited show. However, many were left wondering not only if he wanted to be there but if his heart was in the performance at all. Although the highly acclaimed artist does not partake in social media himself, many fans took to Twitter to refute the claims of bored crowds and silence..even sharing personal videos of the performance to prove that everyone was on their feet for their favorite artist. One user became extremely defensive and posted: @dollofgrey: THEE EJ the Don? Boring? Yeah u bitches are smoking dick. The crowd was going stupid the whole time. Don’t play w him.” posting footage of him head banging and inciting huge mosh pits during some of his more hype songs. Others, however..said the rapper seemed to be so jaded while on stage and thus began speculation as to why. Also sparking debate of how male performers are often given far more grace than their female counterparts in terms of performance standards. Rumors have been circulating recently that the twenty five year old had been hospitalized due to exhaustion and heart complications. Which made many arrive at the conclusion of substance abuse or chronic illness, although nothing has been confirmed. With the lack of interaction with his nearly over one million fans, much is expected to remain a mystery. But one thing is for certain: many potential and diehard supporters have grown weary, waiting for news of a new project, especially with his last one nearing its fourth anniversary. Will he step up and refute these claims, once again proving naysayers wrong? Or has The Don’s time on the throne come to an end?’
a very short, simple..yet, super loaded article full of interesting and quite frankly false statements. Ones that as his publicist, Mikasa had no interest in clearing up. If he wanted to repair his reputation, he’d have to do so himself with his talents. However, others were apprehensive of her methods. Including her very own assistant, who was in the process of organizing her boss’ next set of meetings into her planner when she couldn’t help but spot the deviant look on the dark haired woman’s face. “Ms. Ackerman. I don’t mean any disrespect but are you sure this is the right thing ta’ do? I mean, I thought you were supposed to help his reputation. Wouldn’t this hurt it?” To which she’d merely laugh and continue tapping away at her screen. “Oh Sasha. My sweet, little lamb. You have much to learn about this business and the people in it.” Amid her speech, Mikasa would reach over for her martini and stir the glass before crossing her slender legs and proceeding with her speech. “You see, I have over fifty different artists I manage in a day. Some..they’re fairly easy to deal with. Give ‘em a gig and they’ll take it. Whether it’s some no name festival in the middle of nowhere or Glastonbury..they’re on time, punctual and performing as if their lives depend on it. Even if the crowd isn’t as receptive. They work hard to build their brand and maintain good standing with the agency so that when their big break does come, we can put all the necessary power behind them to make sure they succeed. Then there’s the ones who are a little further along in their journey. Been doing it for a while and maybe they just need some time to get back into the swing of things. They may be working on projects or wanting to dabble into different things, helping artists who may just be starting out..that’s perfectly fine. We love to see that type of mentorship. My fiancé Jean, he’s sort of stuck in that limbo right now. He’s one of, if not the best song writers I’ve ever seen so while he works on his new album and our wedding, of course..he’s taken sort of a step back and decided to lend his support to others..I couldn’t ask for a better client and husband.” Sasha Braus, twenty three year old small town girl from Kentucky with dreams of becoming a big time manager herself. Although she and Mikasa were not too far off in age, she truly admired her from her early days on stage to her shift in media presence now. A young woman with such poise and intelligence..it was something to behold for sure. But as she continued to talk, still circling the perimeter of her glass, Sasha couldn’t help but notice how tight her superior was clutching the stem of it once she got to her final part of her little monologue. As did her expression shift; her lip curling and veins protruding from the side of her head.
“…And then..there are special cases. Ones that require a bit more of a push. These are the ones that have a very..individualistic approach to the way they do things. Meaning they act as they damn well please and never think about the consequences it may cause others. They’re very selective about what jobs they take, or even what meetings they attend for that matter. They’ll go months, maybe even years before they release a project and in that time, won’t tell a soul what they’re up to. Even so..they sit atop the charts. They’re constantly in the media; the topic of conversation, whether they do anything to warrant it or not. Either way..they only move on their time, thus making my and everyone else’s job a whole lot harder. That is EJ the Don. See, I’ve known Eren since we were kids. One of my best friends, actually. We’d play together..go skateboard, break into old abandoned houses. The usual. But his biggest flaw was that he never listened to anyone. Dude doesn’t even listen to his own mom. The bastard even left home at sixteen without a plan or direction. Anything could’ve happened to him out here but did he give a damn? No. He always acted of his own volition and didn’t care if it got him hurt or in trouble, or anyone else for that matter. And I learned early on the one thing that would make him listen. Do you know what that is, Sasha?”
befuddled as ever, the starry eyed brunette listened to her boss ramble on, mainly out of her own intrigue to learn more about this EJ character beyond his music and media headlines. Shaking her head, she’d begin to nibble on some nearby chips, listening attentively. Suddenly, Mikasa glared with quite a sinister look on her face. Not one looking to cause harm or malice but as if she just had a very memorable flashback before uttering one word: “Violence.” Which caught Sasha completely off guard!
“Violence?!”
“That’s right. Violence. Now I don’t mean in the physical sense..although, I did have quite a bit of fun beating his ass in a good street fight or two. But what I mean is something more metaphorical. A good swift kick in the ass. A push..something that forces him to be so uncomfortable, he has no choice but to move. This is that article. There isn’t much that Eren cares about, at least enough to get out of character but music? There’s no one in this business that does it quite like him. He’s a damn genius and the second that’s called into question, he’ll be quick to address it and clear up any notion that he’s not the best. It’s his one love in life so he’ll take it seriously. It’s a shitty thing to do, I know and I’d never stoop so low as to run a smear campaign against my own clients. But he’s beyond normal tactics. Besides, I didn’t think that lunatic of a woman would run with just a nugget of information and turn it into this. Leonhart’s a fucking psycho but she knows how to light a fire underneath someone, that’s for sure and press the right buttons. The only thing I can do now is wait and hope that he bites.”
it was a lot for Sasha to take in and trust, if she had faith in anyone, it was this woman. She’d watch her turn complete nobodies into industry sensations overnight. She was gifted at what she did and making the transition from performer to her current role was the best decision that Mikasa could’ve ever made. However, her assistant couldn’t help but shake the nagging suspicion that there was a missing piece to all of this and that it may not go according to her master plan. All of which she’d keep to herself because the last place she wanted to be was on the maverick’s bad side. That was not a woman you’d ever want to piss off! So she’d nod silently and agree. Hoping that for her boss’ sake, he did.
I hope you’re right, Ms. Ackerman. Business is business, but is it truly worth it..if you have to sell out your own friend?

“Thank you Houston! ‘Appreciate the love..and I’d like to thank my wonderful band. My stage crew and of course, my lovely, beautiful dancers for tonight..the always talented Pole Assassins. These ladies are some of the best to ever do it and I’m grateful that they were a part of this experience tonight. Thank you all and good night, bless..”
the female R&B artist stood before the roaring crowd, microphone in hand and a huge smile as the audience showered both her and everyone else with copious amounts of praise. Even spiking at the mention of the quintet’s name. Bouffant curls, body like that of a goddess, tattoos littering her arms and the voice of an angel. It was unbelievable that you all were even here right now! Which was wild to imagine because just a year ago, the group couldn’t get a single booking because no one saw how it would add value to the concert but (y/n) and the entire group had come to prove everyone wrong. Now all types of artists were hoping to have the girls as part of the show. Not to mention, your outside starpower was beginning to have an effect on that as well. Either way, you had a blast. Being in a room with such infectious energy, being felt up by this fine ass singer as she belted the sultry lyrics to her songs and watched you twirl around the pole. It almost made you forget what and who you were doing not too long ago…fast forward, and you all found yourselves at the infamous Pappadeaux’s downtown. Sipping on drinks, reflecting and enjoying appetizers and laughs as you awaited your meals.
“Whew!..I don’t know about y’all but I am feeling amazing! That was the best hands down, I’ve never had that much fun.” Brianne, who was the first to bring up tonight’s show; ecstatic and thrilled after the high that came with dancing. Truthfully, it took her back to her days in the strip club and it felt like being at Blue Flame all over again. That bit of nostalgia, coupled with the fact that she too had a huge crush on their performer didn’t help! Especially when she grabbed her throat and pretended to kiss her. And not one person could disagree.
“Yeah, cause you were ready to bump coochies with that lady, Bri! You’re not slick.”
“And I would be right now, if it weren’t for you meddling bitches. I was this close!”
pinching her fingers together as she nursed another sip of her drink. Mad at her friends’ interference in her affairs. But they all knew better than to allow that to happen.
“Yeah, close to getting your ass beat. Her girlfriend was standing right there backstage and I know she got hands.” Brianne would simply dismiss Kelly and Syrai’s statements, continuing to eat her crab dip, placing a piece of bread between her long nails and taking a bite. “I know she does too. Real nice hands. That’s why I want both of them!” Sending all of them bursting into laughter afterwards. Brianne, who was and has always has been proudly lesbian never shied away from the fact that she loved the ladies. Hence why she was so popular at her old job..sure, she’d pull the rappers and drug dealers but it was the women in business suits and six figures who would line up to get a dance from Candy; her former moniker. “You are so crazy. I’m not messing with you.” Even so, it felt good for all of you to be back together..chatting it up and laughing like this. Celebrating after a huge success. However, it wasn’t lost on any of them that although (y/n) was talking and engaging, you seemed to be spaced out and your mind was elsewhere. That much confirmed by the way you were scrolling and snickering at your phone underneath the table. “Speaking of..” Niesha, who was holding her butter knife, smacked her lips and turned to face you, as did the rest of the table to confront you. Now that you were, they could easily address the elephant in the room: “..mind telling us why the hell you stood us up the other night? Had us waiting that long..” if anyone would remember, it was most certainly the woman you often referred to as your sister! Nothing slipped past Miss Niesha. She was not only perceptive but nosy as hell. You were certain your little story about sudden onset illness wouldn’t hold up in her eyes. So she’d ask for the truth this time.
“I told you, I wasn’t feeling well..”
“I know that’s what you told me. Ion believe that shit though. So….who was you in there fucking on?” The question immediately prompts you to spit your drink out and Kelly, Brianne and Syrai to burst into another fit of cackles. They knew as well as she did that you were full of it. “Nie!” Hell, they knew something was amiss when you left practice as soon as it was over..which had never happened! But instead of going to your hotel room, you beelined to another one on the second floor and it got the girls talking as to what or who was in there. “We’re not mad at you, we’re just curious.” “Hell, they got to be some pressure for you to keep going back. You don’t like nobody..” which they could all agree upon. Nonetheless, you’d suck your teeth and roll your eyes with a gentle smirk on your face. Nursing another sip of your drink, you’d dismiss their comments. Attempting and hoping to evade this topic. “That is not true. I’m nice.” How would they be able to handle the fact knowing that not only had EJ flew all the way out here just to see you but it was so damn good, that the second you two had any spare time, it was spent fucking on each other in the past seventy two hours. Sneaking to one another’s rooms, doing all the things you had no business and trust, if word got into the wrong hands, you’d be branded a clout chasing rapper’s girlfriend forever. Not exactly the label you wanted while trying to build a brand of your own. Even so, your girls all noted the very obvious difference in your demeanor since the night you claimed to have been sick. Most people didn’t sport beaming smiles after a case of food poisoning. However, they knew it was more so a matter of your guts being rearranged that had you elated!
“Chile, you don’t have to lie to us. So…who’s your new man? Is it a man at all?”
(Y/N) didn’t utter a word and rather sat there in complete silence, stealing small sips of the fruity margarita you had been consuming. Instead, you’d leave them to figure it out with the constant context clues you had been giving. Besides, if you said it outright, it’d actually look as if you two were dating which was the furthest thing from! They’d all sit there, mumbling among themselves as they tried to figure out who it was that had your attention all of a sudden. And the first guess would come from Syrai, who had spotted pictures of you and some male backup dancer who had been touring with the artists as well and had been trying to get at you for a while. To which you’d shake your head and the suggestions would continue. “Is it that defensive lineman for the Cowboys? He's been on your shit heavy.” They were blurting out everyone from this singer or that basketball player, who’s radar you had been on for the longest yet not a single one was right! That was until Niesha seemed to have a bit of a breakthrough, looking up and around the table at everyone as if they were crazy. Before finally turning her attention to you with a smirk.
“You lil’ sly bitch..it’s EJ!” Sending the table into complete hysterics. Kelly, Brianne and Syrai all gasping and screaming and you trying to quiet them. The last thing you needed was for somebody to overhear you all. But alas, she had guessed correctly and there was no faking or denying it because your change in expression said it all. He was definitely the culprit!
“Can y’all be quiet?! Damn..gon’ have my business all over Texas fucking with y’all.” Yelling as you tried to feign your own excitement; covering your mouth as you laughed.
but their excitement could not be contained. It made so much sense…the Instagram comments, the stories you posted, listening to his songs and your little incident at the club. Most certainly not off base to think that the two of you had slept together! “You been fucking on that fine ass man and ain’t told us? You so fake (y/n).” As enthused as they were though, they’d have some advice for you. “ion know, I’d be careful with that one. That man is notorious for being a damn heartbreaker.” “Yeah, and staying in trouble. You sure you want them problems, girl?” Which threw you for a loop, considering you’d never seen him with anyone other than his ex. But then again, they made it their business to be up in everybody else’s and you could give a fuck less. Either way, it was none of your concern and you could care less what he did in his past. “You say that like that’s my nigga or something. What he does when he’s not with me is not my problem.” That’s what they all admired about you. Your ability to stay focused and not be phased by any outside influences. You could be laid with one of the world’s most famous and finest men, only to walk right past him the next day as if you never met. It was commendable how much resolve you housed. But that was expected when you didn’t think much of anyone in this industry anyways. They just didn’t know if they could handle seeing that type of pressure. Sure, your time with EJ was very nice and you’d love to see him again if the opportunity presented itself once you returned home, but he was on a private flight back to Miami right now, proceeding to business as usual; moving along with life so it was in your best interest to do the same. Hoisting your martini for another sip, you’d flash a look to all of your girls and address their concerns once and for all:
“Listen, I got three things in this world I’m worried about: my girls, my brand and my motherfuckin’ money. Anything else is just a nice little distraction. Including him. The dick was nice…really, really nice and I had fun but it’s not that serious between us.” Declaring as you stirred your drink and giggled, reminiscing on your past few nights together. You made it abundantly clear he was a non factor. No matter how many times you guys had sex, sent nudes or commented on each other’s posts. Maybe one day you’d find someone to settle down with but today was not it. For now, you were having your way!
“Now that that’s settled…y’all can quit worrying about me. I’m good. Can we move on, my loves?” And that was enough to ease their minds but it wasn’t enough to change the subject though! “Sure!..after you tell us about you and Mr. Jaeger, chile. I’m trying to know what that’s hitting for.” Kelly interjected and the others followed suit. So you had no other option than to divulge all the dirty details. Especially since you had been dying to share with them. “Fine. Since y’all wanna be nosy and shit. Let me start from the beginning….”
What else were girlfriends for after all?!

meanwhile, Eren had already made his departure from the Lone Star State and was long gone. Bidding (y/n) adieu with a quick little makeout session in your room this evening as you got ready, before boarding his private jet and heading back home. The brief sabbatical was one that he needed and would surely linger with him for days to come but it was time to refocus. No distractions, no interruptions and no more playing around. Guilty pleasures were just that: pleasures. Only meant to be indulged in every so often but now it was time to resume the hustle. Get back to his main lady and that was music. The sweet sounds of synthesizers and instrumentals. Penning his raw feelings and emotions onto paper and translating it all into audible art…there wasn’t a greater feeling in the world. Of course, your pussy might have been a close second!
“Yeah, tell Fader I’m a little busy this week. We’ll have to reschedule that interview for sometime later this month. Tomorrow, me and Ony are gonna be locked in on this EP so I don’t want any distractions. I’m sure you can handle that.” “Yes sir, I understand.”
chatting it up with his loyal assistant Floch, who had been awaiting his return. He asked what he had been up to for his few days of leisure and that he’d be rewarding him with a bonus for all of his hard work. Having landed less than an hour ago, Eren had made his arrival back to Miami. Stepping foot off of his private jet to the driver's seat of his brand new McLaren; fresh off of the lot only a couple days before leaving. A sleek, sexy black with chrome accents and an iridescent finish. Very much the rapper’s speed. Another piece to add to the collection of antique and brand new cars sitting at his residence. It was one of the few hobbies he enjoyed outside of his work. But unfortunately, he wouldn’t be greeted by his parked vehicles and quiet estate once he got there. Where he expected to have his hot shower and warm bed awaiting him..plans of relaxation in his bedroom with some video games, or perhaps a movie, there was something far worse on the horizon. On the long, dark stretch of street leading up to his driveway..no neighbors surrounding him, Eren could spot faint lighting beaming from beyond the locked gates..or rather, what should have been. “What the—hey, Floch. I’ll call you back..” cutting the indiscernible chatter on the other end short as he disconnected the call and lowered his iPhone to the empty passenger seat. Who or what the hell was going on?! Was someone trying to rob him and it had tripped the sensors? They shouldn’t have even been able to make it up this far without the security company or his own personal team being alerted. He didn’t keep an entourage of bodyguards surrounding him because he figured what his hands couldn’t handle, his .45 could but someone had just violated his privacy and the sanctity of his home!
but as he’d soon find out, the culprit wasn’t some would-be burglar, wishing for a hefty lick. But rather, a far bigger opportunist. As he neared the entrance; headlights beaming on the monogrammed gates, he’d catch the silhouette of two bodies in the beams as well. However, what followed was a swarm of people, armed with kit guns but the lens of a camera and microphones in hand, hoping to get their scoop by any means. Because unbeknownst to EJ and completely without his knowledge, word had been circulating the internet with heavy accusations about him. Things that he was not expecting to hear tonight.
“EJ! EJ! Is it true you’re quitting music?!” “Can you tell us about what happened at Rolling Loud, why were you so tired?” “Were you really away at rehab for your addiction? Can you confirm?”
he wasn’t sure where any of this was coming from. Hell, he wasn’t even aware that there was a problem with his performance or anything else so this was all news to him. Who had started this rumor mill? Or better yet, who had allowed them to come there?! Paparazzi mobs felt so outdated and cliche anyways but these slimy scumbags didn’t rest when it came to getting in everyone’s mix. Falsely reporting the last time got them sued and one a hospital visit. But what he did know for certain was that they had two seconds to get the fuck off of his property before he gave them something to report! “I don’t know who sent you here but get the fuck out my driveway and away from my house before I do something bad!” Yelling over the barrage of snapping cameras and shouting. He was becoming super irate and that wasn’t good for anyone because he had been known to lose his cool in the past, even resulting in a couple nights in jail and making brash decisions but they were the ones invading his privacy and because of that, he was two seconds from going off the deep end. Just then, as he were trying to keep a cool head, and think rationally, one of them left a slight indent in this hood of his brand new baby. From that point, there was not consoling or soothing him. Whatever happened, he’d worry about the consequences later. “You fucking idiot! Get the hell away from my car! I know damn well you can’t afford to fix this shit.” For now, he was going to beat all of their asses until he got to the bottom of it! Hopping out of the parked vehicle, EJ began to swing at and attack the unrelenting mob, much like he had done in his younger days in fame. He knew it wasn’t right and his manager was going to have a fit, but he was going to teach people about disturbing his peace.
when I find out who did this shit, and sent these bastards to my house..I’m snapping. And they better hope it’s not their fucking neck!
but little did he know that the culprit…may not have been some far off stranger as he may have thought. But rather…someone far closer.

Kitties and Compromises
a/n!: hi! i don’t usually write fanfics. this is actually my first time seriously sitting down and trying to write a fic, but i was inspired by an experience that happened to me fairly recently!! i’m not sure if i’ll write any more fanfiction, but if y’all like my writing you can send in a request, but i can’t promise it’ll be done quickly 😓 i’ll probably only write wlw, nblw, or nblnb! as for characters, i’d be interested in writing for hange, yelena (from aot), moira o’deorain, junker queen, chloe price, or hazel callahan! also ik not that many people will probably see this, but if you like hange fanfics puh LEASE check out @abbyslev on tumblr and @sweetgirl_r on ao3! bc i love their works and they’ve both indirectly inspired me so much! pls read their work its amazing <3 cross posted on tumblr and ao3, pls don’t steal my writing btw :3
4.3k words. Nonbinary Hange x Fem reader, but readers gender is only mentioned twice.
Summary: Hange really wants a cat, and you don’t. On your way to work one day, you hear a distant meowing in a sewer drain. No warnings btw! This is sfw and just fluffy <3
What were the odds of something like this happening to you? Hange simply must’ve been manifesting this into the universe. The day started just like any other, waking up in the morning next to your spouse, Hange. You always wake up before them, reluctant to leave the warm comfort of Hange’s embrace. Even when they’re asleep they find ways to be clingy, whether that be trapping your body against their own as they cage you with their arms or simply latching onto your back and nuzzling your hair, it always makes mornings that much harder. You always admire their sleeping face before leaving your shared bed; Their peaceful expression and lack of their usual eyepatch reminds you how much they trust you. You groggily slip out of their arms, eliciting their normal whimpers and sleepy pleas for you to rejoin them. You kiss their cheek, not even bothering to respond to their words. You know they won’t remember their words or your own regardless. You get yourself dressed in your boring, formal work attire required for your office job. After fixing your hair in the mirror, you head to the bathroom first. You grab your toothbrush from the holder, smiling as you do so. The sight of Hange’s toothbrush next to your own always makes your heart flutter. Despite having lived with them for quite some time, you always fall victim to the butterflies in your stomach when you see your items mixed with their own. Simple things, like their “Best teacher” mug gifted to them by one of their students next to your plastic and faded Hello Kitty cup you’ve had since childhood, or your coat hanging on the same rack as theirs.
Your next stop is the kitchen. You always make lunch for yourself as well as Hange the night before, otherwise they’ll skip lunch entirely or on rare occasion buy fast food. It never bothers you, though. You love being able to do nice things for them. You know they appreciate it, because they send sweet ‘thank you’ messages along with a photo of them eating it every day without fail. Seeing their smile while eating the food you prepared specifically for them makes your effort completely worth it. You grab your food, placing it into your bag.
The third and final place you head towards is the living room. You grab your laptop- previously discarded- from the coffee table and place it in your bag as well. You groan softly with annoyance as you remember how Hange had distracted you last night from finishing a particularly long assignment from your boss. You had been working diligently for a few hours before Hange arrived home, demanding attention from you. You can’t even blame yourself, because how could you say no to your loving spouse’s puppy eyes? Not to mention the fact they had also enticed you by offering to watch a new movie with you until it was time to make dinner. That’s another action that never fails to make your heart beat faster in your chest. They make dinner while you prepare tomorrow’s lunch, always on the counter closest to them. You sigh as you think about the fact you’ll have a little bit of extra work to do while you leave the house and enter your car to drive to work.
-
Hange loves you. Everything about you, and anything that comes with you. They love your day-to-day routine, never growing bored even when doing monotonous tasks and chores. Things they had hated previously have magically become more interesting, like grocery shopping or doing laundry. But even so, something felt… missing. They were 100% sure this feeling has nothing to do with the love they have for you, or the love you have for them. They undeniably and unconditionally love you, otherwise they wouldn’t have proposed to you. They knew early on into your relationship that they wanted to spend the rest of their life with you by their side. Because of this, they want to have a family with you. Neither of you had been particularly fond of the idea of having children- at least, not yet. Having a child is a lot of work, as well as an incredibly big time and financial commitment. They want a cat. They knew that they wanted a pet cat before they had even moved out of their parents’ house… However, they also knew that you were against the idea. They’ve been begging for the past few months about how badly they want to adopt one, only to be shut down by you, saying how expensive it would be to buy one, as well as the essentials for it: a collar, carrier, grooming supplies, litter box, litter, a scooper, toys, food bowls, food in general, as well as occasional vet visits. Between both of your jobs, you and Hange live comfortably. If the two of you agreed to cut back on recreational spending, they were sure buying a pet was within reason, but they knew you didn’t want to. You enjoyed being able to go on nice dates with them on occasion, to the movies, aquarium, dinner, art museums, and sometimes you even do escape rooms together. They also savor the dates you go on together, but that doesn’t stop them from asking you at least twice a week if you’ve warmed up to the idea of owning a cat. Spoiler alert, you haven’t. So imagine their surprise when they receive a video call from you in the middle of class, revealing you holding a dirty, gray kitten with one hand.
-
Really, what were the odds of this happening? After getting out of your car when you arrived at the office building, you hear loud, high-pitched cries coming out of a nearby sewer. Your kind heart wouldn’t and couldn’t ignore it. You follow the sound, crouching in front of the drain, that’s when you see it. The tiniest kitten you’ve ever laid eyes on, seemingly trapped at the bottom of a sewer drain. You jog as fast as your heels can take you, alerting your boss about the situation, telling him you’ll clock in as soon as you can help the poor thing. He graciously allows you to do so, a perk of being a dedicated manager. You jog back towards the drain, kneeling down to look at the kitten again. You were sure if you called the cops that they would take hours to show up, if at all. Instead, you search for the phone number of your local fire department.
Saving this goddamn cat was a long process. Who knew removing the cover of a drain would take so long? It had taken over two hours to remove the cover, and then another forty five minutes to lure the kitten close enough for the firefighter to grab. The kitten was left in your care after it was safely removed from the drain. Luckily, it was dry except for its paws. You were considering what you should do at this moment. The kitten doesn’t seem to have a collar, and you can see a few fleas crawling around on its back. You realize that you simply can’t place it on the ground to roam free once more, what if it’s hungry? What if it gets hurt or stuck again? You’re not sure you would be able to sleep at night knowing you abandoned the cat. You figure you should first and foremost take it to the vet to see if it possibly has an owner who microchipped it. Before doing so, you decide to do what any rational person would do, call Hange. You feel bad for bothering Hange when you know that they’re working, but you wanted to tell them what you’ve dealt with for the past three hours.
When Hange feels the vibration of their phone in their pocket, illuminating from your call, they know that they should answer. They hold their phone in their hand before glancing around their classroom, the eyes of their students peering at them curiously. They chuckle nervously. “...Ah, pardon me for a minute! My wife is calling me. Feel free to chatter while I’m away, just be sure to keep it down, okay?” They give the class an awkward thumbs up and a matching smile. They aren’t sure if you’ve ever called them while they were working, and they feel a pang of worry as they step out of their classroom and into the hallway to answer the call.
The look on their face was priceless. Their eye widens a little with confusion, their lips parting as if they wanted to say something, but they clearly have trouble finding the words. You speak before they do, explaining briefly how you heard the kitten crying, the amount of time it took to save the small creature, and how you plan to take it to a vet to see if it has an owner. After you’re finished speaking, Hange is quick to ask you “Can we keep it if it doesn’t have a chip? C’mon, pretty please? This opportunity is perfect! We won’t have to pay hundreds of dollars to adopt one, we just gotta cover the essentials!” They beg you, barely even stopping for breath as they plead quickly. “I don’t know, Han… Let me take it to the vet first. I’ll let you know what happens from there.”
Hange has been on the edge of their seat all day. You’ve been sending them updates, albeit slowly, considering the kitten is being tested for multiple things, like parasites, ear and eye infections, and other long term health conditions like feline leukemia. What they know so far is that the kitten is- according to the vet- probably a girl, not microchipped, and the poor thing is infested with fleas. You had mentioned to Hange that the vet said it’s a little bit early to tell if she’s really a girl, but that she currently looks like one. Hange has never been so attached to their phone at work before. They can’t help but glance at it between sentences, hoping to see their screen lit up by a message from you.
-
Today has been tiring, despite not even truly having gone into work. You’re stressed, nervous, and worst of all, bored. Your boredom doesn’t help your running thoughts. Instagram can only distract your brain so much when all you can think about is this kitten you’ve unwillingly bonded with. The longer you sit in the waiting room, the more you realize how worried you really are about being able to keep the kitten, despite your initial reservations about keeping a stray animal. She was just that cute. Throughout the whole car ride to the vet, she sat in your lap obediently, even curling up into a ball and purring. Not once did she cry or try to escape your lap. She had only started crying once you left her alone with the vet, and that broke your heart more than you’re willing to admit. You already feel like you have a bond with her, and it would be devastating if she happened to be sick or injured. What you’re waiting for right now is for her to use the bathroom. Number two is preferable, but they would work with number one if that’s all she could do. You silently thank yourself for stopping by a grocery store to get her some canned cat food, which she had eaten in the car on the way here. After waiting in the vet for a whopping 4 more hours, they had concluded all of the proper tests. The vet calls you back into the exam room, ready to talk about the results. Apparently, she ended up doing number 2 when she was left alone in a kennel. “Hello Mrs. Zoe!” He says with a friendly smile. “So, I’ll start with the bad news. Our little friend here has plenty of fleas, which I’m sure you saw already, and after running tests on her stool, I found that she does indeed have a parasite.” After hearing his words, you feel your nervousness festering more than ever. You nod at his words, urging him to continue. “But, there’s plenty of good news. The parasite is nothing life-threatening. She just needs to be medicated every day for a week. Other than that, she is entirely healthy. Do you plan on keeping her?” You think about your answer for a moment, but inside, you knew your mind was already made up. You had plenty of time to think about it in the waiting room, and you can’t deny the fact you’re already smitten with the small animal. You nod at him, a small smile appearing on your face as well. “Well, that’s great! You’ll have to come back tomorrow or the day after to pick up her medicine. We’ll give you a call when it’s ready to be picked up.” He flashes you another award-winning smile before leaving the room to retrieve the kitten. “Congratulations, she’s very well behaved.” He comments as he hands her back to you carefully. “Thank you, doctor. My spouse is going to be absolutely over the moon.” You giggle softly as you hold her once more and leave the office. You hold the kitten in one hand, and reach into your pocket to check the time on your phone. By now, it was almost time for Hange to get off of work. You sit in the car, the kitten once more making herself comfortable on your lap. You try not to think about her fleas as you take a moment to video call Hange once more.
Hange had just finished their last class of the day when you called. They were sitting at their desk, grading some old assignments before they officially left school. This was typical for them, because they absolutely hated dealing with the traffic caused by all of the other teachers, as well as students and school buses leaving the area at once. They see your call and immediately answer with a huge, dopey smile on their face. “Hi, love!” They exclaim, evidently excited for whatever updates you’re going to give them. When the video loads, they aren’t met with your dazzling beauty, but another small, adorable face. You can’t help but giggle as you look down at your phone, the angle making the kitten look funny. She paws the screen in front of her. “D'aww!! She’s so cuteee!” Hange squeals with excitement at the view. You giggle lightheartedly at Hange’s childish excitement. Their enthusiasm for the world around them was something that drew you in immediately about them, and it is still a trait that you adore. “Isn’t she? She’s so sweet and well behaved.” You move the phone away from the kitty, instead showing Hange your face. “Has she melted your cold heart already?” They tease with a soft chuckle. “Oh, shut up Hange!” You giggle at their joke anyways. “I’m just teasing, love. Soooo… Is she ours? Is she healthy?” They ask excitedly, but they already assume that the answer is yes, considering how happy you seem to be. “I just got done speaking with the vet, apparently she has a parasite.” You notice Hange’s lips part into an ‘o’ shape as you say this. You can also notice the concern morphing its way into their features. “But he said that after being medicated for… like… a week or so, she should be perfectly fine.” Hange’s earlier excitement makes a comeback, the worry melting off their features as they squeal a bit. “C’mon, we have to keep her!” They whine and plead. “You love her already, it’s obvious. Stop avoiding the question.” A pout forms on Hange’s lips as they try to convince you for the umpteenth time to have a pet. You sigh softly at their cute expression, giggling breathily at their antics. “I do love her. And you’re right, this is a perfect chance for us to have a pet since we didn’t have to buy her. I guess love is about compromise, or whatever… And since I know how much you’ve always wanted a cat, we can keep her.”
-
Hange had rushed home in record speed. It’s shocking that they got home in one piece without any tickets or crashes. You were right in the assumption that they would be over the moon about this perfect coincidence, Hange wanted to meet her more than anything. You have been home for a bit by the time Hange arrives at your shared home. They practically launch through the door, before realizing their excitement might startle the kitten. When you hear the door opening, you greet them at the door with your arms open wide. They quickly rush into your embrace, lifting you up and enthusiastically shaking you around. They place a chaste kiss on your lips before putting you on the floor once more. “Not that I’m not excited to see you, but where is she?” They ask with childlike excitement. They’re practically bouncing off the walls. As if on cue, a high pitched cry emits from the bathroom. “I have her in the bathroom right now and I put a blanket in there with her. We’re-” Your sentence is cut off by Hange making their way to the bathroom, carefully opening the door. You smile at their excitement, following after them. “Make sure she doesn’t get out. We’re gonna need to give her a flea bath before she can leave the bathroom.” Hange mumbles out a ‘mhm’ before kneeling beside the bathtub. The kitten is looking up at them with big doe eyes. Hange is doing all they can not to squeal and shout from how utterly adorable she is. You decide to take a seat on top of the closed toilet, simply content to see your partner so lively. Hange carefully outstretches their hand to the animal, who seems to back away the tiniest bit. “Heeeeyyyyyyy baby…” They whisper quietly. “Pspspsp…” The kitten sniffs Hange’s finger skeptically, but doesn’t react otherwise. They take this as a sign that it’s okay to pet her. Two of their lithe fingers scratch at the top of the kitten's head, much to her content. Hange mumbles sweet, hushed words to the animal that you can’t really hear. The world around you seems to grow blurry, as you tune out everything else that isn’t your partner and your newfound pet. There wasn’t anything else worth caring about at the moment. The tenderness Hange displays, a stark contrast from their typical erraticism, has your heart thumping in your chest. Hange has always been equally caring as they are observant. While Hange will probably always be excitable, they’re very aware of other’s emotions. They know when someone is overwhelmed or tired, or maybe shy and nervous, meaning they always know when they should turn it down a notch. Quiet moments with them were always your favorite moments. Moments where you two could simply be, without the need for conversation or action. Moments like this morning, where you can stare at their tired face without any ounce of uncomfort. Hange scoops up the kitten into their arms, holding her near their chest, seemingly unbothered by the fleas littering her body. They look up at you, smiling with their teeth and giggling. Their eyes are squinted shut by how much they’re smiling. Even as you’re lost in thought, not fully aware, you smile back at them unconsciously because it’s second nature. You snap out of your trance when you see a flea jump off of her body. “Yuck.” You say, squishing the bug with your shoe and picking it up with a piece of toilet paper. “I picked up some flea shampoo when I went to get her something to eat.” You say, holding up a purple bottle. “She won’t like this, but put her in the sink.”
-
The two of you have spent the better part of an hour picking the rest of the bugs out of the kitten's fur. The flea bath helped substantially, but there were still some that crawled around. Neither of you have spotted bugs for a few minutes, so you retire from your task, wrapping the small animal in a towel as Hange holds her, trying to transfer their own warmth to her. “She’s such a sweetie.” They coo softly, bouncing the kitty as if she’s a small child. “We should feed her soon. Did you get anything else from the pet store?” They ask, tilting their head at you as they ask. “No, she got really antsy when she was alone for too long, so I tried to run in and out as fast as possible. We’re gonna have to go back.” “Oh, but we can’t leave her to go out, what if she thinks we abandoned her!?” They ask you with puppy eyes. “We can’t take her out, she could still have fleas. I can ask someone to watch her while we go out.” You say, pulling out your phone to text one of your and Hange’s shared friends.
Levi and Erwin step into your home, the former appearing to be intensely displeased. “I can’t believe you’re making me do this on a weekday.” Levi grumbles, while Erwin smiles politely at you and Hange. “He’s being dramatic, it’s no trouble. You two will only be gone for an hour before we head home again.” Erwin chuckles, walking to the living room, where the now dried kitten sits on the couch. She runs and hides at the sight of so many people. “Thank you guys for doing this, I know it’s last minute.” You chuckle nervously at Levi’s obvious irritation. “We didn’t exactly have the luxury to give you notice, Shorty.” Hange teases, grinning as Levi rolls his eyes. “Whatever, three eyes. Get going so we can get home already.” Hange pouts, not only from the nickname, but also at the fact they’re being rushed out of their own home. You try not to burst out laughing at the nickname. “Three eyes is diabolical.” You choke out, opting to take their hand and head out, hopefully so Hange doesn’t feel embarrassed. “We’ll be back soon, thank you again!” You wave, before hopping in the car with a pouting Hange to get supplies for your currently unnamed pet.
-
Who knew shopping with Hange would take so long? You knew, actually. You were vaguely aware of the fact that Hange’s erraticism isn’t the best trait when trying to go shopping quickly. You’ve only been shopping with them a few times, and after an hour of bouncing around the store, it becomes a little bit tiring. This doesn’t even account for the many different random items they tend to pick up and insist they need. A similar thing happens when you attempt to shop for your cat. You asked Hange to find a decently sized litter box, and they come back to beg you for toys they think look funny, a bed shaped like a ramen cup, a hat for the kitten, and a matching onesie for her. You have to refrain from twitching your eye as they entirely forgot to get the litter box you tasked them to find. You end up putting the toys, bed, and hat in the basket, since you planned on buying her these things anyway. “Han... My beloved... You forgot the litter box.” You watch as they chuckle nervously, rubbing the back of their neck. “Right... Be right back.” They turn away, determined to get the litter box, (and only the litter box,) while you decide between two bundles of kitten food.
Hange finds you once more, looping their arms around your waist. You’re momentarily shocked, but you quickly recognize the scent of them surrounding you. They place their head on your shoulder, proud of the fact they managed not to pick up anything except the litter box. They poke your cheek, giving you a grin. When you turn your head towards them, they tap their finger against their cheek, silently asking to be rewarded for completing the task you gave them. You roll your eyes playfully and give them a soft peck.
-
You return home after an hour and a half, being slightly delayed by Hange’s typical short and ever-changing attention span. Erwin helps you and Hange bring in the bags of cat necessities. You and Hange tiredly plop down on your couch once you’ve finished, feeling tired from all the events of the day. Levi sighs from beside you. You and Hange look at him, seeing the cat curled up and sleeping on his lap. “This damn cat wouldn't leave me alone. Always craving attention, like it can't survive without constant petting. Needy little furball.” He grumbles. Despite his attitude, he still allows her to sleep in his lap, which you and Hange are both grateful for. He carefully picks her up, shifting her into Hange’s lap instead. They both try their best to ensure she isn’t disturbed by the transfer. You stand up as Levi does, seeing the couple out. “Thank you both again for doing this. We’ll see you guys on Sunday for dinner. It’s our turn to cook this week!” You giggle. Erwin pats your shoulder in a dad-like fashion. “Don’t mention it. Levi was loving the attention she gave him. See you Sunday.” He smiles. To this, Levi rolls his eyes, elbowing his lover lightly as you see them out.
Once again, you plop on the couch beside your own lover. They look at you with worry. “What are we going to do with her? She’s gonna be so scared if we leave her at home, all alone...” You raise your eyebrow, wondering where this conversation is leading. “I’m sure she’ll get used to it. It’s impossible for us to have someone watch her every day while we’re at work.” In response to your words, they cover the kitten's ears. “You’re evil! How could you talk about our daughter that way?” They pout, giving you puppy eyes. You laugh, rolling your eyes playfully at their joke. “You know...” They start. You look at them tiredly, knowing you probably won't like whatever comes next. “We could always get another to keep her company.”

I’m Gonna Tell ‘Em (Don’t you Dare)
Ao3
Tim just wanted coffee. That’s really all he desired in life. Coffee. His position as Red Robin. And Wayne Industries to get its shit together for one goddamn day. In that order.
“Are you shitting me? I was a fucking crime lord you little terror, I don’t give a fuck-”
He’d done an all-nighter in the Batcave. Again. Trying to crack a cold case he was sure had something to do with Riddler's vague warning a few nights ago. And he was so close, but his eyes had started to close for just a little too long.
So tell him why he walked into an argument that seemed to be based around the topic of murder, at 7 in the morning. Between Jason and Damian. Who both tried to kill him at least once. Respectively.
“And I am the Demon Prodigy of the League of Assassins. I could kill a man before I could speak.”
Tim stands in the doorway, contemplating if his need for coffee is higher than his potential rate of getting maimed in the dining room.
“Yeah, but you were fucking sheltered inside the bases like goddamn Rapunzel in her-”
“I was not sheltered. You of all people should know of Mother’s harshness for disobedience-“
“Oh and I’m sure you were so disobedient Mr. Goody Two Shoes-“
Ultimately, the urge for coffee wins. Tim crosses the kitchen as unnoticeably as he can, skirting the edges and keeping his footsteps as light as he can manage on 10 hours of sleep in the last week.
He’s busy, okay?
“I’ll admit I wasn’t raised to go against the orders of a higher-up but that did not mean-”
“Bull. Fucking. Shit.”
“Did my propensity for sneaking animals into the house escaped your notice? I thought you were better trained-“
“So what? You save every bird with a broken wing you come across, but you’d willingly slit the throat of a human?”
“Yes, Todd. That’s exactly what I’m saying.”
The coffee pot is half full. Tim counts this as the one redeeming factor of this morning. The threat of getting stabbed is nothing in the face of sweet, sweet caffeine.
“What’s your fucking number then?”
“I can’t possibly know the exact-“
“Oh no, you don’t get to pull that shit on me-“
Tim considers pouring himself a cup, but he’s gonna drink the whole thing anyway and he’s exhausted enough to zone out during Alfred’s inevitable lecture, so he takes the whole pot and tips it back.
“I was sent out for missions when I was barely more than a toddler. You can’t expect me to remember every-“
“Ra’s had files on every fucking mission I did while brain dead and high on Lazarus rage, there’s no fucking way he didn’t have an exact-“
Tim chugs his precious coffee. The temperature is surprisingly cool enough that he doesn't immediately burn his tongue. Not that a few scorched taste buds would stop Tim from inhaling the only thing between him and unconscious. But it’s the thought that counts.
“What’s yours then, Todd?”
“Nope. Not until you tell me yours first. I’m not about to have you raise the number because I told you mine.”
“That’s preposterous. I would do no such thing.”
Tim calculates his chances of making it back out of the kitchen with a quarter pot of coffee in his hands and decides his caffeine fix is safer off with a few counters between him and his homicidal brothers.
And yah know. His physical well-being. But that’s pretty low on his ‘fucks to give list’ at the moment.
“I don’t trust a fucking word coming out of your mouth-“
“There’s an easy way to settle this if you’d just-“
“What? Shut up? Drop the argument? No fucking-“
“We can write it down separately and then show it to each other at the same time."
“…huh.”
Tim looks up in genuine fear when both of his siblings go quiet. That’s never a good sign. Not in this house.
There’s a window to his right that he could probably smash through if it came to it.
Neither of them are looking at him though, just regarding each other with much less animosity than a few seconds ago. Tim decides he’s probably fine and goes back to his coffee.
“I will go retrieve a piece of paper and two pens.”
Damian leaves the room and Tim freezes like if he stays still enough it’ll keep Jason from noticing him. Unfortunately, now that his older brother’s attention is directed to his surroundings and not just screaming at a 12-year-old, he makes direct eye contact with Tim.
“Oh hey, Timmers. How long have you been here?”
Tim stares at him blankly. He- doesn’t know what answer Jason wants from him and he’s not willing to face his older brother’s wrath if he’d been having what he thought was a private conversation.
“Sorry about the noise. I hope we didn’t wake you up.” Jason says after it’s clear that he isn't getting answers out of Tim.
As if the manor isn’t literally soundproofed. For this exact reason.
Tim’s 17 years of social etiquette training won’t let him just not answer the open-ended comment, but god does he wish that it did.
“No, I was already up.”
Jason nods as if he was expecting that answer. Which is fair. Tim’s sure he looks just as tired as he feels. His eye bags could hold all of his emotional trauma. They’re Guchi.
“And does Alfred know you’re drinking straight from the pot?” Jason motions to the carafe Tim’s clutching like a lifeline. Because it is.
Tim opens his mouth to lie through his teeth, but is saved by Damian’s re-entry. Wow, he’s never been so glad to see his stab-happy younger brother.
True to his word, the kid’s carrying a few pieces of paper and pens. Tim could leave now. He could casually walk right past them, out of the kitchen, and back to the cave to keep working on his case, but dammit, he’s invested now.
He’s still not sure what this argument is about exactly, but he’s willing to wait a few more minutes to satiate his curiosity now that he’s tentatively sure that the argument isn’t going to evolve into physical violence.
“I’ve acquired the tools to finish this once and for all, Todd.” Damian announces, sliding half of his spoils to Jason.
“Great. We’ll write our body count down and on 3 we’ll turn ‘em around. Got it?”
“Don’t tell me what to do” Damian grumbles, but writes dutifully anyway. The kid would be funny if he didn’t back his threats up with swords.
Tim is. Still lost, but he’s always secretly wondered how many people his brothers have killed. In a morbid way. Mostly because he wants to know if the murder attempts on him were a particularly special event or just a pattern. For his mental health's sake.
“Got it?” Jason asks, holding his paper close to his chest so no one can peek. Tim doesn’t know who would, considering he’s the only one in the kitchen that’s not a part of this squabble, but Damian copies the movement and Tim finds himself inching closer, taking the last swig of his coffee.
“One.”
“Two.”
“Three!”
They flip the papers around and for a moment the kitchen is quiet.
“FUCK YEAH!” Jason pumps his fist in the air with a whoop. “Ha! Take that, Demon Brat! I’m the Robin with the highest kill count!”
Tim spits out his coffee and coughs violently. It’s partially because he got some in his lungs, but also to cover the incredulous laughter bursting uncontrollably out of him. It takes him a good few seconds to get his breathing under control, but when he looks up, his brothers are staring at him.
For a moment he’s tempted. So fucking tempted. Because he hasn’t told anyone anything more than bits and pieces about his time with the League. Hell, the only reason his family even knows about his little stint playing lap dog for Ra’s, is because he choked out a vague explanation about his missing spleen when he went into sepsis.
They don’t know about the missions he was sent on. The people he sold out. And most importantly, the multiple bases he blew up because he was crazier than the Joker after Bart and Kon’s death and then the near miss with Bruce.
The bases he absolutely didn’t evacuate. With hundreds of people inside. A few actually avalanched down mountainsides, and he’d eat his Batarang if any of them survived.
The only word he’d confidently use to describe his mental state then, is feral.
He didn’t have to blow them up. He really didn’t. A good few of the bases he’d never actually seen before he snuck in to level the place, but he’d been having a shitty year so naturally, he was going to make sure Ra’s got to have one too.
Not to mention that Tim was as depressed as he’d ever been and wasn’t particularly giving a lot of fucks about if he died during his warpath. He’d already lost a spleen, what were a few more organs?
So this argument? This competition? He finds it objectively fucking hilarious.
Damian and Jason are still staring at him in bewilderment, and for a moment -just a wild moment- he thinks about telling them.
Explaining how he was just. So done. And could only think of one way out, so he systematically hacked into every base he could get his hands on. Stole as many files as he could during his time constraint. And then blew all of them sky-high.
Thought about telling them how on one particularly bad night, gone through every log of the people in those bases. How he hadn’t been ‘sick’ as he claimed the week after he managed to crawl out of his safe house.
He was just too horrified to look anyone in the eye.
It would be funny to watch his family’s expressions go through the five stages of grief and add a few more just for funsies, if they even believed him at all. But no. Tim had his secrets and he was going to take them to the grave.
He grinned at his brothers, patted Jason on the shoulder with a quiet congratulations, and strolled out of the kitchen.
Tim had cases to solve and letting his family assume he wasn’t capable of murder was better for all of them in the long run.
No matter how wrong they were.
👻
In my defense. Writing prompts make the brain noodle go brr. You can blame @coffinbirds and @batcavescolony for these posts.

I think I have an unpopular opinion that I’m willing to explore more. Throughout the Law of Assumption forums and/or community, I’ve seen “repetition is key” and “persistence is key”. Which, in a sense, are true statements. However, I think there needs to be more context for beginners. I wasted SO much time trying to understand the lingo and the little phrases that were being tossed around, and it left me so confused.
Until I took a step back and read the work work of Goddard, Neville and a few other people. All of the forums and YouTubers have honestly over complicated things. So, maybe, I can break it down a bit.
- “Repetition is key”: The repetition of your affirmations is not going to produce your manifestations. It’s not. Point blank. Why? Because you’re not saying these affirmations to an external source in hopes that they give you what you want.
The repetition of your affirmations are for YOU and your subconscious mind. Your beliefs are what create— not your thoughts, your beliefs. Anything that you consistently say or even consume is what becomes a belief. Therefore, your affirmations and the repetition of them are what creates a belief— that is key.
- “persistence is key”: this one is controversial lol.
Persistence technically doesn’t mean that you have to spend every single day and second of your life scripting, affirming, visualizing. Persistence is a way of life. You are supposed to persist in the knowing and peace of mind that your desires are already created. No one can take it from you.
You can persist and that knowing. Even if you have a low moment or have moments of doubt— it’s okay. Have faith the size of a mustard seed; that faith alone can move mountains. When you have old thoughts spin the block, use your techniques— affirm, script, visualize the new belief; eventually they will subside.
- “Live in the end”: this one kicked my ass lol
This doesn’t mean pretend like what you want is already here. It means to make daily efforts to transform yourself ‘mentally’ into the version of yourself that already has what you desire. How? Maybe create habits, work through those trauma points in your life, analyze your current relationships with self and others and work to improve your beliefs and actions towards them.
Doing so prepares you for the “end” which is just when your desire comes into fruition.
-“ God, universe, higher self, etc.” : I fought with this a lot because of my religious upbringing. Moms a pastor— crazy story lol. Anyway, I didn’t want anything to do with the church because it’s just a big ass scandal.
Anyway, it wasn’t until I did hours of research and soul searching that I understood that God is just energy. Literally— just a very conscious and intelligent energy. What does that mean? Well, in the Bible (which is great manifestation tool btw), it tells us that human beings were the only creating made in his likeness. Meaning, we are conscious, we have subconscious, we can create.
The Bible also talks about God and man being one. This is mainly in relation to Jesus, but I think Jesus was kinda like the Neville Goddard of his time. Conspiracy— but hey. I tell you this so that you can understand that you are not absent from God (universe); you’re actually one in the same, but God is like the extended version of you.
This helped soooo much because I felt like I was holding everything inside of my head and that I was responsible for finding a solution. I also felt like I had no one to talk to my desires about. Then I learned about affirmative prayer. (I’ll talk about this more eventually.) knowing that I’m not praying to something outside of me, but to a part of me that has access to the outside brought me so much relief. And I literally trust that the shit will be done.
- “everyone is you pushed out”: giiiiirl this shit is IRKING
I’m gonna get sciencey because this didn’t make any damn sense until I brought science into the mix.
At the foundation of human existence is energy (yeah we have atoms and molecules and stuff, but it’s all just energy). The earth is just made up of energy. The UNIVERSE is just a big bundle of energy.
It’s not different types or species of energy; it’s the same type of energy in different shapes (or bundles) with different responsibilities. Hell, even a table is made up of energy. I’m a big bundle of energy and you are a big bundle of energy. Our SPs are a big bundle of energy— the same energy as everything in all of existence.
What does this mean? It means that we are all connected through the energy. So, yeah. When you think of someone and they text you soon after— that thought was literally energy being transmitted from you to them.
Don’t over complicated it lol. I swear it makes sense.
EIYPO literally means that because we are all energy, we are connected— so what happens to me happens to those around me. Which is why our self concept change is felt by those around us.
- “Birds Before Land”: honey— not everyone gets them, so don’t spend all of your time focusing on looking for them. BBL come after the manifestation, not before. However, there are moments when shit is just SO obviously meant for you to see. In those cases— give it good meaning.
I will say that when you invest all of your time looking for movement and signs, you’ll keep manifesting signs.
Uhhh— yeah lol there’s more but my thumbs hurt.

You’re Mine, Forever
Let’s talk about Bonten!Mikey for a second, shall we?
Pairing: Fem!Reader x Bonten!Mikey
CW: MINORS DNI, NSFW under the cut, Fem!reader, possessive behavior, cockwarming, unprotected sex, creampie, bad writing (please don’t hate me), exhibitionism, degrading, hair pulling, threats of violence (not against reader), please tell me if I missed any
Word Count: 1,024
(Please be nice, this is the first thing I have really written 🙈. And thank you @sweet-seishu for helping me with this, your help is invaluable 🥺)
Imagine you are his s/o and when you go visit him at work he can see the way his executives stare at you. Specifically, he can see the way they stare at your ass as you walk away. Needless to say, he wasn’t very happy about the stares and how the Haitani brothers would nudge each other while smirking.
So he came up with a little scheme to make sure they knew who you belong to and that they will never have you for themselves.
So one day he asks you to join him at a meeting. This meeting wasn’t really planned and had no real purpose except for the executives to watch as you cockwarm Mikey. You were wearing a skirt which covered your lower parts, which kept the men from seeing much.
Mikey seemed to be paying more attention to you then to the others around him. He placed small kisses on your neck and shoulder, pausing every now and then to suck a mark into your skin.
Once Mikey knew the others were watching you both, he leaned to your ear and quietly muttered “do you trust me baby?” to which you nod. Of course you trust him, he’s never lead you wrong before.
Once you agree he lifts you off him and bends you over the table, pulling your skirt down so you were exposed before pushing himself back into you with a hard thrust. He stills again and looks up at his executives, a small smirk on his face at the moan you let out. He moves one of his hands to your hip to stop you from wiggling back against him, the other runs soothingly up and down your back, calming you.
“Enjoy the show while it lasts, cause this is the closest you will ever get to her after today.” He taunts before focusing his attention back on you.
He started off hard and fast, taking hold of your hands and pinning them to your back with one of his. His other hand went into your hair and yanked your head up off the table so you were facing the other men. A few of them groaned when they saw your glazed eyes and already fucked out expression, a few tears already in your eyes at Mikey’s rough treatment.
“Don’t close your eyes, baby. I want them to see how good I make you feel.” He murmured before biting into your neck hard enough to leave a mark, but not hard enough to draw blood. He used his tongue to soothe the spot listening to your whimpers and cries.
The executives sitting around the table couldn’t take their eyes off of you and their boss. A few of them groaning at the slick sounds coming from where you and Mikey were connected, rubbing themselves over their pants.
“Do you see the way they’re looking at you? Bet they would kill to be the one fucking you right now.” He chuckled when he felt you tighten around him. “You getting off on them watching? You like acting like my slut in front of people?” You could barley hear what he was saying, to focused on the feeling of his cock stretching you deliciously and the groans of the other men in the room.
“Pay attention to me when I’m talking to you, baby. Tell them how good I’m making you feel. If you wanna cum you’ll have to beg for it.” You whimper at his words, not wanting to beg in front of his subordinates, but knowing you had no other choice. Mikey would drag this out for hours until he got what he wanted.
With tears streaming down your face, you do as he asks. “Pl-Please Mikey, you feel so good. Please let me cum, I’ll be your good slut, please make me feel good-“ your voice broke off with a whine when you felt Mikey release your hands and wound his hand around your body to your clit.
“That’s good baby, go ahead and cum on my cock.” You could feel his smirk where his mouth was leaving more marks on your neck as he started rubbing your clit quickly with just enough pressure to push you over the edge.
You gasp out his name and he groans as you tighten around him. You could barely concentrate on what he was saying, his hand had moved back to your hip, while his other hand still kept your head held up and you face directed at the other men around the table. He never stopped with his hard thrusts, making you whine at the overstimulation coursing through you.
“Such a good little slut for me. Now be a good baby and take all my cum, don’t waste any of it, ok?” You barely heard his question but nodded anyways, wanting to please him.
Mikey gave a few more hard thrusts before coming deep inside you causing you to gasp at the warmth. You both moan at the feeling of him pulling out of you. He lets go of your hair, and your head drops heavily onto the table. You turn your head to the side rest your warm cheek onto the cold table and let out a sigh.
Mikey puts his cock back into his pants and zips them up before sitting back into his chair and running a hand through his hair. He reached down to where your skirt was pooled around your ankles and pulled it back up to your hips and rubbing them.
Once your skirt is back in place, Mikey moves a hand to your lower back possessively and looks up at his executives with dead eyes. “If I ever see any of you eyeing her again, I’ll carve your eyes out and shove them down your throat.” Miley’s voice is empty of any feeling and the men around the table all pale at the threat.
You hear a chores of “Yes boss” from those there and, satisfied with their answers and expressions, Mikey picks you up bridal style and carries you out of the meeting room and back to his office.

A Robin in the Making: Meeting the Justice League
Bruce frowns at the monitor.
“I already told Superman that I cannot, under any circumstances, come to the Watchtower this week.” He says firmly. Oliver runs a hand down his face, obviously aggravated.
“Batman, I’m telling you, if any of us could figure out how the hell to fix it, we would. And we wouldn’t be calling your stubborn ass.” He huffs out. Bruce’s eye twitches under his cowl.
“I don’t have anyone to watch Robin.” He says, telling only a partial truth.
“Then bring the kid with! I’m sure we can figure out something for him to do while you fix the monitor station.” Oliver says. Bruce starts to argue again, because it really wouldn’t only be his oldest that he’d have to bring along, when a familiar voice cuts in.
“Whoa, really? Can we go, B, please, please, please?” Dick begs, appearing at the edge of the cave with a domino already on his face. And just like that, Bruce has no choice but to cave. Something he was sure Dick knew.
“Fine. We’ll be there in twenty.” He says curtly before hanging up. Sighing, Bruce turns to look at Dick. “You do realize Mari is going to have to go too, right?” He asks. Dick nods rapidly.
“B, you’re not even ready for how totally awesome this is going to be! I’ll go grab M.” He says, darting back up the stairs. Bruce blows out a long breath. He’d told the League that he had prior engagements in Gotham that would keep him from being on call for this entire week. With Alfred in England for another five days, he had no one to watch Dick or Marinette. Which meant he hadn’t even been patrolling for very long. Just long enough for people to notice him (something he rarely wanted as Batman), and then he went right back to the manor. Dick, as he was almost a teenager, had tried to convince Bruce that he could watch Marinette by himself for a few hours. It wasn’t that Bruce didn’t trust his son. He did. He just also knew that Marinette and Dick had been partners in crime ever since Marinette first pulled herself into a standing position. She took off after her older brother and never looked back. It never failed to put a smile on Bruce’s face- well, as long as it wasn’t accompanied by mischievous giggling from the two. Before he can get too lost in his thoughts, he realizes that the giggles are definitely real and approaching quickly.
“Dick, make sure you’re holding onto her!” Bruce calls out. After Marinette had made her appearance, he’d made sure there were railings everywhere in the cave. Didn’t mean he completely trusted the railings to be failproof.
“Don’t worry daddy! Dickie’s got me!” Marinette calls out, and Bruce relaxes slightly. Until the two appear in sight and he sees what his three year old daughter is wearing.
“Richard, why does Marinette have a Robin uniform?” He asks, working hard to keep his tone calm. He already wasn’t thrilled that Dick was running around every other night fighting crime. It terrified him, but the idea of Dick going out as Robin by himself and getting injured because he didn’t tell Bruce where he was going- that fear far outweighed the fear that Bruce had when he would spot his son out of the corner of his eye while going against a mugger. But his daughter, who was still a toddler, wearing a domino mask was a little too much for him.
“It’s not really a uniform, B. She’s not gonna go out and kick the Joker’s butt or anything. I just thought it’d be cool for her to be able to match me if we ever got to meet the League together. Pretty cool, right?” Dick presses, and Bruce takes a second to breathe. Looking closer, the outfit clearly just mimicked the Robin colors, and was obviously not made to fight in. It was, unfortunately, cute. There was even a tiny bat symbol on the belt of it.
“I’m a hero!” Marinette chirps happily, grinning up at him. Bruce softens immediately, crouching down so he can be more on her level.
“You make a great hero, sweetheart. Now remember, what do you call Dickie when he gets his outfit on?” Bruce asks. Ever since she’d started talking, he’d tried to drill the importance of secret identities to her. He knew it wasn’t exactly traditional parenting, but he figured it was better than just lying to her about such a big part of his life. She grins widely.
“Dickie is Robin and you’re B.” She says, rattling the words off as if she’d rehearsed them (he knew she had). Bruce smiles and picks her up, tossing her gently into the air before catching her, heart warming as she giggles and shrieks.
“Very good.” He says, then pauses as he realizes she doesn’t have a secret identity.
“I say we call her Bug, cause that’s already what Lucius and you call her when she has to go to WE.” Dick pipes up, walking back into the main part of the cave as he pulls on his last shoe. Bruce glances down at his daughter.
“Does that work for you?” He asks. She nods, grinning. Bruce exhales deeply. “Very well. Who’s ready to meet the Justice League?”
---
The second they zeta onto the Watchtower, Dick runs to the center of the room, slowly turning as he tries to take in everything. He’d met a few of the other heroes at the Hall of Justice before, but B had never let him go to space before!
“Hey sport. Where’s your old man?” Ollie asks, walking in with his arms crossed. Dick nods towards the zeta tubes.
“He’s gotta get Bug set up first, but he said it was fine for me to come ahead.” Dick explains. Ollie frowns.
“Bug?” He asks. “Is that a person?” Dick nods.
“Yup! She’s my little sister.” He says, and Ollie’s jaw drops.
“She- what- Batman has more than one kid?” He gasps. Dick snorts. It was always funny to see people’s reactions to B having kids. Before he can explain more, the zeta tube announces B and Mari’s arrival.
“B! B, look! Stars!” Marinette gasps, immediately tugging B over to the windows. Dick giggles at the look on Ollie’s face.
“Green Arrow. I assume you have figured out where Robin and Bug can go?” B asks, glancing back at the other hero while Mari was focused on the stars. Ollie sputters for a minute.
“What- I- what the hell, Batman! We had an idea for Robin, not a freaking toddler!” He huffs out. Marinette tilts her head to the side, and Dick’s eyes widen. Uh oh.
“B? What does ‘hell’ mean?” She asks, frowning.
“Oh sh-”
“Unless you want to teach her two new words today, I suggest you shut your mouth.” Batman says lowly. Ollie’s jaw snaps shut as he nods slowly. B turns to Mari. “That’s not a word we use, Bug. Green Arrow is going to have to go sit in time out becuase he said it. You don’t want to sit in time out, right?” Mari shakes her head rapidly.
“No! No fank you.” She says, messing up her ‘th’ like usual. Dick thought it made her the cutest kid ever.
“Very well. Robin, stay here with Bug. I’ll walk Green Arrow to time out and send Superman back here.” B says. Dick nods, and Mari rushes over to him.
“C’mon! Let’s do flips!” She says excitedly. Dick grins, immediately rushing over to help her with her cartwheels. He loved being a big brother.

It was Monday again. You followed the same routine you do every day. You hit snooze two times, finally growing sick of falling in and out of sleep and rolling out of bed on the third ring. Your morning shower doesn’t wake you up like you thought it would, only making you miss your bed even more after you step out into the cold. Not just your bed, but Felix’s too.
You wished you could stay there all day, wrapped up in his arms as he pulls the blanket over the two of you, hiding you from the harsh world you would soon have to step in to. As you pass him on your way to the kitchen, it takes all your strength to lightly nudge him awake.
“Felix, wake up, I’m going to make breakfast,” you coo, wincing when he scrunches up his face.
You hated doing this every morning, pulling him out of his peaceful slumber. But if you didn’t, he would be late for work. It was just another Monday – you both had lives to get on with. Groaning, he stumbles out of bed with his eyes shut, mumbling a quick good morning before disappearing into the bathroom.
Breakfast was just another variation of French toast. You both ate in silence, mentally preparing for the day ahead. Prodding at your toast with your fork, you eventually let it fall to the plate with a clatter and take it away, scraping what you didn’t eat – most of it – into the bin.
“Are you not hungry?” Felix asks, eyebrows furrowed with concern, “You’ve got a long day.”
“I just didn’t feel like it today – I’ll grab a snack on the way there.”
He’s still suspicious, but trusts your judgement. He doesn’t say another word on the matter. When he’s done, he walks you to the bus stop, kissing you goodbye on the cheek before heading for his stop, which was in the complete opposite direction. You always reminded him that you could make it to the bus stop on your own, but he insisted on walking with you anyway.
“If it means we get to spend an extra few minutes with each other, I’ll take it,” he pointed out.
Those extra few minutes were usually enough to prepare you for the day. Not today, though.
Your morning was spent staring at your unread emails. There were always so many on a Monday. Why do people email over the weekend? You held your head in your hands. Four hours later and you still hadn’t responded to a single one. When your boss checks up on you at lunch, she smiles at you pitifully and allows you to take the rest of the day off, believing your lie about having a migraine.
You did not have a migraine. You still felt like crying, though, and you almost did on the bus home. The bright lights of the office and the ticking of the clock only made you feel worse, reminding you of every passing minute that you spent staring at your screen.
When you finally got home, you crawled back under the bed covers almost immediately. You had been thinking of this all morning, but it didn’t feel right. The covers were cold, and your boyfriend’s body next to yours was missing. You check your phone, wondering if he’s updated you about his day, eager to feel his presence even a tiny bit.
[Felix] i’m sorry, but i have to work late today
[Felix] i was really looking forward to your cooking tonight, too
[You] it’s okay, i came home early anyway
[You] i didn’t feel too well
[Felix] i’ll be back as soon as i can
[Felix] take care of yourself. for me, okay?
Putting your phone down, you decide to pass the time until Felix’s, now postponed, return by sleeping.
When he finally returns, it’s already 9:28pm. You’re sat up in bed, in the same position you have been for hours, biding your time by watching any random video that was recommended to you. This one was an analysis on a movie you had never even heard of before.
The door slowly creeks open, his head popping out from between the crack to check on you. He says nothing, only sticking his tongue out and pulling a silly face. You laugh for the first time all day. Satisfied, he shuts the door and returns a couple minutes later with a mug in his hands, hot steam escaping from the top. He waits for you to sit up before carefully handing it to you.
“Hot chocolate?” you ask, trying to make out what the drink was from the smell, your vision hindered by the darkness surrounding you.
“For the prettiest girl in the world,” he smiles, closing the blinds, which you had been meaning to do since you came home.
He crawls under the covers from the bottom end, peeping his face out from the top with a boo! You scoff, but he just grins.
“Made you smile.”
“You always make me smile.”
He rests his head on your chest and wraps his arms tightly around you, careful not to nudge you too much that you spill your drink. Your day ends with everything in your world put right – Felix’s restful figure snuggled up to you, his head rising and falling on top of your chest with every breath you take.

What incident are you talking about that makes zk mad and have personal beef with you?
Actually now that I’ve done some investigating it’s unclear exactly who is mad at me because there are two cliques mad at me for opposite reasons.
Basically, I hold what I used to think was a very simple and uncontroversial opinion, which is that fiction is a great way to explore dark themes and topics, but at the same time, can spread harmful and insulting messages if these topics aren’t treated respectfully. Too much nuance for tumblr, apparently. Some people called me a terf for saying rape is bad and some people called me a pedo for so much as mentioning sexual themes in my writing. So we’ve got polar opposites here.
As for “incidents” I’ll give a brief overview under a cut because (warning) it involves sexual abuse and suicidal ideation.
To summarize:
I became active in the Zutara fandom during mid-late 2020 as a result of being online due to the pandemic. Just before the pandemic, I suffered a sexual assault and Zutara (ship and community) became a source of escapism and comfort for me
Shortly after becoming active on tumblr, I joined a fandom event and was paired up with a beta reader. This person proceeded to groom and sexually abuse me over the course of about a year. To put it in perspective, this occurred during the height of the pandemic and we were often on discord calls for hours every day. It was a very involved and predatory “friendship”. And I want to make this extremely clear—do not try to find this person. I’ll only answer questions about this in DMs if you legitimately have personal safety concerns. I don’t think they’re even active anymore and I’ve made peace with the fact I’ll never get proper closure or justice and any attempt will only result in more victim blaming and abuse. So please don’t bother. I’ve been over it
I didn’t realize what was happening to me was sexual abuse at the time, only that it hurt and that something was wrong. Due to the sort of culture I’d been sucked into, I wasn’t allowed to properly express my discomfort and had difficulty articulating what was wrong (being autistic doesn’t help there either). So every time I tried voicing discomfort, I was shamed into silence until it reached a breaking point
As I gradually started waking up to the fact I was being abused, I also, as a result, started unpacking some of the harmful ideas that were directly enabling my abuse and questioning them. This made my abuser angry; they felt their control slipping I imagine. I started exploring these ideas through my writing and asking questions about things. That made people angry
My abuser knew what they were doing. They were a self proclaimed “fandom old” and knew how these communities operate much better than I did at the time. So they got a notoriously loud and stupid Zutara stan angry with me, who proceeded to (predictably) write a bunch of unhinged tumblr rants and dogpile on me over discord. As a result, everyone in her clique also decided I was evil and scapegoated some other bullshit (at this point I don’t even remember everything I’ve been accused of) onto me. She also used sexually degrading language (I don’t think she knew this but it was word-for-word things that had been said to me by men who abused me in real life) and this resulted in me being triggered, suicidal, and it was a whole mess. Lots of people were fighting and there was even a rumor (I have no way of confirming this) that anti-Zutara people got in the mix because they enjoyed watching the infighting
I actually did attempt suicide once, and seriously considered it on a few other occasions. These people only used this as further evidence that I was crazy and couldn’t be trusted or believed
Then, as I stated increasingly using writing to vent about what I experienced, people got mad at me for that too. Even called me a pedo. I think that’s the worst part—that the message from all this is that women’s sexual assault and torture is meant for titillation and entertainment, but serious and meaningful exploration of it is forbidden
Currently, people still share out of context pieces of this story and act like I’m some horrible prude and/or pervert. People who don’t even know me spread rumors without asking me a single thing. They’re spineless and believe whatever their respective clique does. So that’s where I’m at
At this point I more or less keep to myself and focus on writing. I do really love writing and Zutara, and despite everything, it still did/does bring me comfort while dealing with the worst few years of my life. I also have received so much positive feedback about my writing—people telling me it helped them, it resonated, it made them see things in a new light. That’s meaningful to me so I continue doing it.
And I try not to take what happened too personally either. Over time I realized I’m not the first person they treated like this and I won’t be the last. That’s just how cliques work, and how people who are different are treated. Tale as old as time: once they’ve decided you’re a witch, they’ll burn you no matter what you say.

Bailando (Javier Peña x Female reader)
Summary: You have to deliver a speech tomorrow and you are nervous. Javi comforts you.
Word count: 1623.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Tags: Emotional hurt/comfort, Sweet, First Kiss.
--------------------------------
I learned about this challenge a few days ago, but I read I could submit a story by the end of the month, so here it is my fic for the Pickled Peña Writing Challenge @pickled-pena
I hope you enjoy it! :-)
English is not my first language (it's Spanish) so I apologize for any mistakes. I've included some verses from the song Maníaca by Abraham Mateo. The original song is Maniac by Michael Sembello.
Bailando
You were more nervous than you wanted to admit.
Tomorrow you would be attending the annual general meeting. You didn’t like being the center of attention, and it was the first time you would deliver a speech in the presence of The Chief Executive Officer, who had a reputation for making people cry.
The tension level was higher every time the CEO was around. It was easier to make careless mistakes when people couldn’t keep a level head. Some employees took it out on others, saying things like:
"You stand there and accuse me, but where were you at the time?"
But you didn’t need to worry. You had made a to-do list to make sure you had everything under control:
Memorizing the speech   ✔
Making sure the USB drive works and the PowerPoint slides are readable from the last row   ✔
Making a list of likely questions you might be asked after the speech  ✔
Writing well-thought answers to those questions  ✔
Learning how to look relaxed and confident ✔
Your list was flawless, or so you hoped.
Perhaps I should read the speech once more, you thought.
Your phone buzzled before you could grab your notes.
A message from Javi:
Ready for the party? ;)
A friend of him was throwing a huge party tonight. You didn’t know his friend, but Javi told you that his friend wanted his guests to bring their own friends. “The more people, the better.”
You’d told Javi that you’d go to the party with him. You wanted to be like your female friends, who were eager to put on a dress and dance until their legs felt like jelly.
Going to a party with Javi had always been a pleasant experience. He was playful and sweet, and he always got you on the dance floor. You wished you could forget about the annual general meeting, if only for a couple of hours. Seize the moment. Have some fun.
It wasn’t that easy.
You tried to picture yourself dancing with Javi. You hadn’t seen him since last weekend. You exchanged text messages almost every day, but nothing could beat the face-to-face conversation. You missed the way his eyes light up whenever he said or hear something amusing, and the warmth of his smiles, and his touch. A hand on your back, on your arm, on the crown of your head. A hug every time he greeted you. He had never gone any further, but you’d imagined several times how it would feel to kiss him. You had never kissed anyone. You had never felt the desire to do so until you grew closer to Javi.
He didn’t know you were in love with him. What if you told him and he didn’t feel the same and became distant from you? What if he stopped being friends with you?
Your phone buzzled again:
“Something wrong?”
He could see that you’ve read his message. He must be wondering what it was taking you so long to reply.
“Hey, I’m sorry, but I don’t think I can attend the party. Tomorrow is the annual general meeting.”
You had told him about the business meeting. You had admitted it made you a little anxious, and he’d told you there was nothing to worry about and you would leave everyone impressed with your speech.
He replied right away:
“I know < 3 That’s why you need to take your mind off it. I promise I’ll drive you home early. You won’t miss out on sleep.”
You smiled.
“You’re very sweet, but I don’t think I can have fun tonight.”
“Tell me what’s troubling you,” he typed out.
You trusted him. He would never mock you. He also told you the things that made him afraid or sad or angry. He told you when he had a bad day at work or when he’d had trouble sleeping.
You typed out:
“What if I forget my speech or the file becomes corrupted?”
His answer was short and quick:
“I’m on my way to your house.”
That meant he wouldn’t arrive on time for the party.
“No, please, I’m alright <3  I’ll watch a sitcom episode, eat something light and go to bed. We shall hung out tomorrow if you’re not too tired after the party : )”
“Too late. I’m coming.”
Your phone buzzled again, and a second message showed up on your screen:
“That sounded creepy. Sorry.”
He hadadded a sheepish grin emoticon. You couldn’t help but giggle:
“Don’t apologize. I appreciate what you’re doing.”
“Is it working?”
Now you were smiling like and idiot. “Yes.”
“Good. Don’t eat anything. We’ll have our own party.”
*
Javi showed up at your door shortly after your text conversation. He was wearing a dark grey suit and a tie. His smile was so warm. He didn’t look disappointed in the slightest.
Your heart quickened. “Hi.”
Your hands touched when you took the cool bag. You placed it on a table and looked back at him. The smile was still on his face. He took a step forward and held you in a warm embrace.
“Hi,” he murmured against your heart.
The hug slowed down your heart rate and quelled your mind. Was it selfish to be glad that he was here?
Sometimes his kindness made your heart ache in a way that scared you. You shouldn’t hope for things that weren’t likely to happen.
“You look very elegant,” you told him after he pulled away.
Javi let out a small laugh. Suddenly he looked a little shy. “I wanted to look good for our private party,” he confessed. He stroked your arm. “How are you feeling?”
“Better. I’m glad you are here, but I’m sorry I cancelled the plan at the last minute.”
“Don’t be sorry. There will be other huge parties waiting for us, and if I’m being totally honest, I wouldn’t rather be anywhere else.”
You smiled. “Okay.”
“But I stand by my words. You need to take your mind off the business meeting, and dancing is a great way to relieve stress. Besides, I think I have just found out the perfect cover song.”
Your heart fluttered in anticipation. “Which one?”
He winked at you. “First, help me set the table.”
*
He had brought a jar of pickles, a fruit salad and smoked salmon and sandwiches.
“You said you wanted a light dinner,” he said.
“It’s perfect. Thank you.” You were going to say something else, but you finally decided against it.
Javi noticed your hesitation. He grinned. “You were going to ask me to play the song, but you didn’t want to sound impatient.”
“Yes,” you admitted, giggling a little.
“I know you well. And I’m not going to say no. I cannot wait to dance with you.”
You smiled. Your cheeks felt warm, but you didn’t try to hide your face. “I cannot wait to dance with you too, Javi.”
As soon as the music started playing, you recognized the song, although you had never danced to it.
“Maniac. I love this song! It’s so upbeat and catchy!”
He grinned. “This is a Spanish version. The lyrics are a little different, but I shall translate it for you later.”
“I’d like that.”
“Great. Now, show me how you move.” He came to you and started singing the lyrics.
Salió descontrolada.
Llegó.
Quemó la sala.
La vi
con la mirada
de una loca enamorada.
Javi nudged you. His face was so bright, and there were crinkles around his eyes. He loosened his tie and wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you closer.
You giggled and threw your arms over his shoulders. You shook your hips, and he nodded with enthusiasm.
“That’s my girl.”
Fue inevitable acercarme
Y le tuve que decir
Es que me mata todo de ti
Maníaca
Maníaca bailando.
Y lo baila como nunca antes bailó.
Your chest brushed against his. He stopped singing for a moment, and the way he looked at you took your breath away.
Y aunque no quiera siento que me domina.
Cada paso es mi dosis de dopamina.
“Lower your pelvis closer to the floor,” he said suddenly. The intensity in his gaze was gone, and now there was a hint of mischief.
“What?”
“Let’s see who gets closer to the floor without falling on their ass.”
“Oh my.” You laughed.
Adicta al dembow.
También reggaeton.
La tengo bailando en el suelo.
Neither of you could maintain your balance. Thankfully, you didn’t injury yourselves.
You lay on the floor, bursting into laughter, and you continued laughing until the song ended.
Later, when you both caught your breath, Javi propped himself on one elbow and smiled at you.
You returned his smile, resisting the urge to stroke his hair. He looked so handsome like this. You wished he hadn’t agreed that you shouldn’t miss out on sleep.
He reached forward and touched your cheek. “Feeling better?”
“Yes. Thank you for everything.”
His eyes fell upon your lips. Was he thinking the same?
He met your gaze, letting you see the repressed hunger in his eyes, the same hunger you’d been trying to hide for months now.
“Can I kiss you?” he whispered.
“Yes.”
He pressed his mouth to yours. His hand moved to your hip, and he kept it there as his lips moved against yours. His touch was familiar and comforting, making it easier to get lost in the kiss. His tongue touched yours, igniting something in you.
You weren’t afraid of your feelings for him anymore.
It was liberating to give in. It was wonderful to see that he wanted this.
He had asked for permission to kiss you. Maybe now it was your turn to ask for more.

Lydia-John prompter here! No problemo, as Marie Kendo says if it don't spark joy - toss it! (Closs enough right?) However if it does spark joy, can I request Alec giving a final warning to siblings that he won't protect/take responsibility for them anymore - and then following through! Either that or Alec giving second-in-charge authority over Jace/Izzy decisions because he recognises he isn't objective?
here we go! i hope you enjoy it ^_^
it did spark joy and that was a sweet way to ask lol ty
lumine
-
“I can't believe the clave did this, Alec. But I'll fix it. I'll talk to grandmother-"
“What are you talking about, Jace?” Alec asks, confused as to why Jace has barged into his office, pacing and looking as pissed as he does when someone shows a hint of interest in Clary.
“The clave, they sent you someone else. It should be me as your second, so I’ll talk to my grandmother.”
“Actually, I requested Mirai. Imogen’s opinion is no longer being taken into consideration, as she tried to promote a shadowhunter above his rank solely based on blood ties. There were several options for me, Jace. You, however, weren’t one of them and neither was Izzy. Izzy went science and you went fighting, we all started on separate paths long ago Jace, we knew this was coming.”
“I thought I’d still be your second! You could make that happen and we could have each other’s back.”
“I need someone who has my back and has other people to have her back. Because I won’t be able to pay attention and protect my second.  Which means you definitely can’t have the position, as you’ve gotten careless the last few years. And now, after all this running around with Clary, you think you’re ready to the be the second of the Institute?”
“What if she has in it for Clary?”
“Not everything is about Clary. Not everything is about you. Be done Jace, go tell Izzy that this is my final decision and Idris has agreed. Even if Imogen were being listened to, they wouldn’t change this, and I wouldn’t want them to.”
“I’m disappointed in you, buddy.” Jace says as he leaves the door and Alec lets him leave with a sigh and an eyeroll.
“Yeah, me too.” He mutters, because if he were any less exhausted, he would have dealt with this days ago instead of accidentally avoiding it and letting it fester until Jace exploded.  Which isn’t Alec’s fault, but he knows he could have dealt with it sooner at least.
He texts Magnus, because he wants the comfort of his partner even if it’s just over the phone and then a portaling is ripping open and Magnus is gracefully sliding into Alec’s lap, hands curling into Alec’s hair like it was made to be touched by Magnus’ fingers.
“A rough day?” Magnus croons and Alec sighs and leans every bit of him that he can get against Magnus.
“Uh-huh.” He sighs out, exhausted and aching to be back home with Magnus, “Jace found out about Mirai Lakecastle.”
Magnus makes a sympathetic noise and his hands scratch Alec’s scalp in a delicious way that makes him want to melt.
“How tedious, did he bother you beloved?”
Alec pouts, because Magnus makes it sound so banal, yet he knows that’s just because Magnus considers Jace’s opinions to be of so little value.
“Yes—” he finally admits, because he’s learning not to hide these things from Magnus. “It was like he was channeling my mother, on a bad day. Reminding me of what a disappointment I am, especially for putting myself first.”
“You’re the leader of an entire Institute.” Magnus reminds him soothingly, voice dry, “you need a second you can trust and one that will listen to you and have your back. Who can be trusted and trust others and who will be loyal. Not a brother who throws himself into danger under the assumption that he remains under your protection. You’re helping him to grow up, satang. Now, you have at least half an hour. Enough time for a twenty-minute nap, hmm? For me?”
Alec smiles in tired exasperation and nuzzles Magnus face and then slumps into him,
Magnus pets Alexander’s hair and rubs the tight tendons of his boy’s neck soothingly as he eases him to sleep.
He had meant to lure Alexander to rest in his lap on Alexander’s sofa, however it seems that his boy is too exhausted to even move and he whuffles gentle, mouth open against Magnus’ neck.  Magnus uses magic to ease his position into something more comfortable. Alexander’s thighs are deliciously muscled, but they lack the necessary padding for Magnus to perch on them for any length of times without his own thighs going numb.
Magnus uses the gift of magic to ensure this is never a problem, for him or for Alexander.

what to expect (when you’re expecting) (ccg universe)
words: 3,520 ship: austin butler x reader summary: (a very lovely anon request): actual pregnancy in the CCG universe notes: thank you so much for reaching out about CCG! it means a lot to hear people are still loving it :) kinda crazy that was my intro to the fandom haha hope you enjoy!  warnings: none tag list: @killerqueenfan, @karamelcoveredolicity, @elizabethrosecresswell, @gigisworldsstuff, @stylesmendeshearted, @abloversblog
When you became pregnant, you promised yourself that you were never going to become one of those women that just sat around and waited, becoming a couch potato or prepping the nest or whatever it’s called to just hang out in the apartment all day. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, it’s just not who you are. While you enjoy a good home day like the next person, you’ve always been pretty active—especially when it’s come to your job. Opportunities don’t just stumble upon people, you’ve learned that, so being pregnant is not going to stop you from living out goals you’ve made for yourself. Maybe that sounds harsh to some people but there’s nothing that says women can’t have it all—a family, a career, a doting relationship. There’s no reason you have to choose.
Austin’s been very supportive in that sense, since day one, since your relationship began to form on the set of Elvis. It’s been a few years now, which is kinda hard to imagine, but that bond of love and unwavering support hasn’t changed. If anything, it’s grown and adapted. You know how lucky you are every day that you have a boyfriend who encourages you and your career in every way as he nurtures his own, but things definitely begin to slow down during your second trimester. You suppose that’s not bad, one of the great things about being a script writer is that you don’t have to be on set of a film every single day (you just want to be).
You trust the people you work with, you’ve had the pleasure of developing a film with them in the past and they’re always open with communication and keeping you in the loop. It’s just…by missing days? You feel like something is slipping through your fingers, even though you know that doesn’t quite make sense. It’s a difficult balance you’re still struggling with—becoming a mother and having a career.
But you’re determined to do both.
Sighing softly in the early hours of the morning, you run your fingers through Austin’s hair, playing with a few gentle curls near his forehead. This has become quite the routine since you became pregnant, waking up together, slow moving, Austin shifting in bed until he’s pressed against you—head sometimes directly on your stomach. You smile a little, tracing a circle along his hairline with your thumb.
“She’s as big as a grapefruit today.”
Austin hums, tipping his head just slightly so that he can see your face, “She’s a girl today?”
You smile, shrugging your one shoulder, “Feels like a girl to me most days.”
“I don’t think I can take two of you troublemakers, bein’ outnumbered and all that.”
There’s an amused eyeroll before you gently tug on some of his hair, “Girls are supposed to be troublemakers.”
Austin chuckles lightly, pressing a kiss to your stomach before sitting up. “I’ll keep that in mind.” He moves to sit on the bed, drawing back one of the curtains behind the nightstand to let a bit more light in. Your eyes dance over his face, how easily handsome he is, even upon first waking up…which shouldn’t be fair at all.
He looks back over at you, a soft smile on his face as one of his hands moves to push your hair behind your shoulder. You know what he’s going to say before it even comes out of his mouth, “I gotta get goin’.”
While Austin doesn’t have a current film that he’s working on, he’s been having weekly meetings with his agent, planning out something bigger down the pipeline. You’re ninety percent sure it’s some sort of TV series but he’s keeping it pretty under wraps, even from you, until some things are set in place. You don’t mind the suspense, you’ve always been a big fan of surprises. You just hope it’s…nothing too hectic with a baby on the way.
You know Austin, trust him to make decisions that not only account for his own future but also take you into consideration as well and the life you’re building together. He’s not going to be taking trips that put him in other countries for months at a time. It’s not going to be easy, mapping out how it all works—a family, a baby, two blooming careers. But that’s the point, right? To figure it out together?
He cups the side of your head and leans forward to press a series of kisses to your face—your forehead, the bridge of your nose and finally your lips. “Take it easy today, alright?”
You huff out a bit dramatically but nod, watching as Austin’s other hand slides over the small swell of your belly. As he stands from the bed, you watch him wander over towards the bathroom to take a shower. Yawning, you run a hand over your face and turn to gather some pillows closer to you, pressing your face into the one that smells like Austin’s cologne and fall back asleep.
--
A buzzing noise wakes you up and as you turn, disoriented, you bring your hand down on your nightstand to make it stop. It’s then you realize it’s your phone—squinting at the screen, it’s Ronald, a guy you worked with on your last film that transferred to your new one. He’s really nice, thoughtful, tends to lights and sound on set (Austin insists the guy has a crush on you, but that feels a little silly). Regardless, you let the ringing go to voicemail.
He doesn’t leave a message but he does send a few texts shortly after,
Ronald: you wanted me to tell you if and when there was drama on set? Ronald: think Marissa is close to quitting
A soft groan leaves your lips, running a hand over your face. You don’t even need to text back to know what Ronald is talking about. You knew it was going to be an issue to hire exes as the leads in your movie but your casting director assured you there wouldn’t be any problems and that their chemistry on screen was worthwhile when it came to drama.
Doesn’t seem like it’s paying off. At all.
--
Despite not wanting to go anywhere today, you pull on a yellow sundress that’s easy to move in and drive to set. You’re hoping you can offer a little assistance to the producer and director, who don’t exactly have the most comforting way of speaking to people. They’re wonderful and patient when it comes to the craft of movie making but…this needs to be handled with a little more finesse. Sometimes the drama of actors is more than something other people are willing to put up with.
You’ve learned that you get a hell of a lot more with honey than you do vinegar.
Pulling into the lot and using your badge to bypass security, you park your car and slowly pull yourself out. You skipped breakfast, which you already know is a bad look but…you figure you can grab something from the food tent before heading back home. Or maybe even visit the bistro down the street from your apartment to get one of those extra-large cinnamon rolls you love. Checking your phone, your thumb hovers over the text message thread with Austin…debating whether you should just send a quick text to check in.
You already know he’s not going to be thrilled that you’ve made your way to set when he’s told you to take it easy but…this is totally going to be a quick visit, here and back, just a few words of confidence and comfort to your actors and then heading back home. Not worth the worry and aggravation of letting him know you’re even out of bed.
You’re not about to make statements about how you’re saving the film, either, even though you spend about a half n hour talking down your female lead so she doesn’t abandon the project altogether. There’s drama between her and her ex (meaning there’s tension…in your opinion sexual tension, but) and she just needed someone to hear her out. To understand what she’s going through.
She’s grateful for the venting session and you talk to your male lead as well to hopefully get everything on the same page. Everyone could do with a dosage of taking a deep breath so that not each conversation is reactionary and listening.
Crisis averted, right?
Moving towards the food tent, you pause by the coffee cart and smile a little as past experiences and memories come flushing back—sometimes it’s hard to believe that’s how the bulk of your career actually started. You wonder if you’d be in the same place you are today if you hadn’t managed a coffee cart on the set of Elvis…you suppose a lot of things happen for a reason.
Feeling slightly dizzy, you reach for a cup to fill up with water, turning when you see Ronald approach to your right. He gives you a small smile,
“Pretty sure that would have gone nuclear without you.”
A soft laugh leaves your lips, “You’re just lying so I still feel like I have a spot on this set,” You shake your head, knowing deep down that no one can take that away from you given that you’ve written the script but… You have to admit you feel a bit disconnected given the space you’ve taken with your pregnancy.
“Well, you look great.” He adds, sticking his hands in his pockets.
“Now I know you’re lying,” You smile, running a hand through your hair.
While you appreciate the sentiment, you’re definitely not feeling your best. That wave of dizziness isn’t dissipating like you’d hoped and when you reach for one of the chocolate chip muffins that are on the table next to the coffee cart, you nearly stumble from leaning forward too far.
“Whoa,” Ronald says quickly, reaching out to steady you. “You alright?”
You’re about to wave off his concern and assure him that you’re fine, just the spins or something from moving too fast? Or maybe that whole skipping breakfast thing. But then you realize how wobbly your legs feel and there’s a cold sweat on the back of your neck—something doesn’t feel right.
“I don’t know.” You mumble and Ronald grabs a chair for you to sit in before you can fall down.
It doesn’t stop you from dropping your cup, however, as your vision swarms black.
--
There’s a soft series of beeping that you hear before you even open your eyes, your forehead crinkling in confusion because it sounds nothing like the alarm you have on your phone. Lifting your hand to your face, a wild headache appears, throbbing along your temples when you manage to pry your eyes open.
You’re disoriented, attempting to figure out what’s going on, where you are, why everything feels so foggy and sluggish.
“There you are.”
Frowning, you move your hand and your vision focuses on…Ronald and the background opens up to inform you that you’re in the hospital. Your stomach dips—oh no. Everything comes rushing back, being on set and feeling dizzy and faint.
“Please don’t tell me an ambulance came to get me.” Your voice cracks, throat dry.
Ronald winces, “Uh…alright, I won’t tell you.”
A groan, your head tipping back against the pillows. Great—sure that was amazing for the film set. Odds are it’s going to be plastered all over the internet and social media thanks to paps who like to hang around the perimeter for any breadcrumbs of things to report. Bringing your hand up to your head again, your massage your temples and realize you’re hooked up to a few monitors, an IV.
Then, suddenly— “Austin.” You state, like it might be the most important thought you can state. You have no idea what’s going on or…if you’re okay and the baby—your heartrate skyrockets on the monitor, the beeping becoming more insistent.
“It’s okay,” Ronald tries to comfort, but that’s not what you need right now. You want Austin. “The hospital called him, he should be here soon. I didn’t want to leave you with no one.”
And you appreciate that? But it does nothing to quell your overpowering nerves. Tipping your head back, you attempt to breathe slowly, you know that being worried isn’t going to help anything right now—for you or your baby. Your gaze draws towards the door to the room opening, Austin coming in looking more frazzled than you were aware he was capable of. He always approaches things with such confidence, a cool demeanor, a willingness to problem solve…he’s definitely overwhelmed, worried. You feel instantly guilty for causing it.
“Hey,” He says quickly, eyes darting over to Ronald and causing a momentary pause because he didn’t know he was in here.
“I uh,” Ronald stutters over his words, standing from the chair he was sitting on, “I didn’t want her to be alone.”
There’s this muscle working in Austin’s jaw and before he can say anything, you interrupt, “I went to set to prevent a crisis.” Your hand reaching for his when he comes over to the side of the bed.
He gives you a once over, squeezing your hand, “What happened?” Ronald begins to fill in the blanks before you can answer the question and Austin definitely doesn’t like that, “I’m talkin’ to my girlfriend.”
You wince, your other hand traveling over your stomach, “Austin,” You chide gently and to Ronald’s credit, he doesn’t appear to be insulted—your boyfriend is clearly rattled. “I just—I got dizzy, fainted I think. Ronald helped get me here.”
Austin takes in a breath, mostly through his nose, seemingly trying to calm himself down so he doesn’t snap at Ronald anymore. You can understand how worried he is, to get that call in the middle of lunch with his agent, to rush all the way here with no information about what’s going on or how you were.
“Thanks for lookin’ out for her.”
Ronald gives a small smile before nodding, offering a small wave in your direction before he makes his way towards the door, “Don’t even sweat it. I’ll see you.”
As Ronald leaves, your OBGYN, Rachelle, makes her way in. She doesn’t look overly concerned, giving a small smile in your and Austin’s direction as she writes some things down on her patient chart. So…that’s not terrible, right? That’s a good sign?
“Okay, how we feelin’ Y/N?”
Straightening up in bed, the only question on your mind flies from your lips, “Is the baby okay?”
Rachelle draws her hand up and down, signaling for you to take a deep breath, which…you kinda do, it’s difficult. “Your baby’s fine.” She smiles a bit, her eyes passing between Austin and you. “I’m more concerned about you right now.”
Austin seems to visibly relax, moving his hand that was holding yours to stretch across your shoulders, rubbing gently as he goes. It definitely helps with tension in your muscles—you’re really doing your best to try and relax. While today definitely wasn’t ideal? The point is that your baby is fine and you’re fine too, despite the slight dizziness and now nausea that are lingering.
You refocus yourself, moving back to Rachelle’s original question, “I’m alright, I think. I’m…feeling a little off.”
She hums, moving closer to the bed to hook the chart on the end of it. “That’ll happen with low blood sugar.”
A soft blush kisses your cheeks out of embarrassment than anything else—you got so wrapped up in heading to the set that you didn’t eat and…turns out it was too late to reverse it once you tried. You gotta remember that you’ve got more than just yourself to worry about now.
“I can appreciate that both of you have busy schedules, but Y/N, you gotta make sure you’re taking care of yourself. You’re into your second trimester and it’s only going to get busier from here. I know you’ve cut back on work but you also have to remember that stress is not your friend.”
You nod softly, glancing down at the bedsheets to play with the fabric between your fingers. You know that she’s not chastising you and that today was probably a bit out of the ordinary when it comes to stress, but it doesn’t change the fact that you’re here. You’ve done more than enough reading on how stress is bad not only for you—in making pregnancy symptoms worse, but also for the baby, extreme conditions ending in things like premature labor.
You shake those thoughts right out of your head.
“We’re gonna keep you for a few more hours, just on a monitor but then send you on home, okay?” She clasps her hands together, “With this additional ultrasound we took when you first got here, we also know the sex of your baby.” She smiles, “Did you want to know or be surprised? I can go get the envelope.”
You glance up at Austin, who gives you a small smile. He then nods, “I think I’d like to know before the reveal party that Ashley is undoubtedly going to insist she host.”
You laugh a little and nod, Rachelle smirking before she turns to head out the door and grab the envelope that’s probably in your patient file. Running a hand over your face, you pinch the bridge of your nose and feel Austin sit down on the bed next to you, the silence of the room settling over your shoulders. This is the last place you thought you’d be ending up in today when you woke up this morning.
There’s guilt, of course, but also like…this weird bout of shame that licks at raw nerve endings, like you should have known better than to go to set in the first place. You try to rationalize with yourself, the perfect storm of not eating breakfast mixed with stress but at the same time—
“I’m sorry,” You say suddenly, pulling your hands away from your face. Emotion sits heavily in your throat, hard to swallow over.
“Shh,” Austin shakes his head, “Hey, it’s okay.” He inches closer on the bed, smoothing his hand through your hair and resting his palm on your shoulder. “You’re okay.”
You quickly wipe away the big, fat tears threatening to spill down your cheeks. Your emotions are kicking into high-gear given hormones and the way this day has gone when it started out so perfectly. Sniffling, you let out a soft, aggravated sigh as Austin cups your cheek and wipes some tears away,
“I never meant to worry you like that, I’m sure it was—” You shake your head.
Austin nods slowly, chewing on his lower lip, “You definitely had me worried but…you and the baby are fine, that’s all that matters.” He tips your chin with his thumb, making sure your gaze meets his. “Okay?”
You nod softly, closing your eyes as he leans forward to plant a long kiss to your forehead. You want to say a handful of other things about how he doesn’t have to stay here once the envelope comes back, that you can hang out and probably eat horrible hospital food as you sit on the monitor for a few hours. That he can try to salvage more of his lunch date with his agent. But you already know the answer, can even hear it in Austin’s voice—he’s not gonna go anywhere.
When Rachelle comes in with the envelope, you can’t help but take a nervous breath in even though there’s nothing to be anxious about. No matter what you’re having? You’re going to be happy, grateful, excited, terrified, everything in-between. She hands you the paper and you squeeze it between your fingers as you look over at Austin, wanting to somehow open it yourself and have him read it first all at the same time.
Pulling the envelope flap aside, you quickly pull the paper out and close your eyes, almost like you might lose your nerve otherwise. One, two, three—and then it’s over.
A laugh leaves your lips and you can’t stop the smile from pulling on your lips, “A girl,” You show him the paper, “We’re having a girl.”
And Austin looks touched, his eyes a little brighter blue than they were before, licking his lips and nodding before a warm laugh empties from his chest. “A girl,” He repeats before wrapping an arm around you and pulling you close.
Grinning, you press your face into his shoulder and neck, squeezing onto him so tight—like a lifeline. You breathe him in, stomach fluttering, fingers gathering up the fabric of his shirt to ground yourself in this moment. You don’t think you’ve ever been so happy in your life.
“Knew I was gonna have a set of troublemakers on my hands.” Austin teases as he cups your face, leaning down to kiss you.
You giggle a little against his lips but you’re not about to disagree with that.

The rest of the night passed in a blur. You hung out with Gar until eleven. You just watched two of his favorite movies and he gushed about them the whole time. You were pretty excited to start training with Jason but watching movies Gar helped the time pass by a lot quicker. It didn’t even really feel like you watched two movies. And you even felt bad about bailing on a third movie when it got later but you knew you’d be late if the two of you started another one. You promised you’d continue the marathon tomorrow though and that seemed to please him. So, you went to your room and waited out the extra hour.
Apparently, everyone is normally in bed around midnight if there isn’t something going on. Rachel went to bed two hours ago and you haven’t seen Dick since he checked on you and Gar around 10:30. Gar’s door is shut and there isn’t a light coming from under the door when you exit your room. You’ve always been more of a night owl, it’s always been the one time when you could be completely alone. Even in Gotham, the streets were quieter at night. It almost felt peaceful even but as you walk down the hallways and into the living room, you spot Gar sitting on his laptop on the couch.
“H-hey?” You ask as you get closer. “What’re you doing up?”
Gar looks at you with raised brows. “Couldn’t sleep, you?” He vividly remembers you saying you were going to bed and you don’t look panicked as if you had a nightmare again.
“Same.” You lie with a nod. “Walking sometimes helps.” You don’t like lying, but sometimes it has to be done. You want to trust him to not say anything, but you’re not really sure if you can. For all you know, he’ll run right to Dick and tell on you and Jason before training even starts.
“Do you want me to walk with you?” Gar’s hand goes to the top of the laptop as if to be ready to shut it.
You almost say yes because you like his company but this is a secret between you and Jason. Gar doesn’t seem like the type to disobey authority. You don’t want to drag him into a mess you and Jason are potentially causing for the next week or so. What he doesn’t know, can’t hurt him.
“I’m okay.” You say. “Thank you though, I’m just gonna….walk a bit but I’ll come get you if I change my mind.” Gar nods, understandingly, looking a little sad but confused by it. You didn’t decline after last night’s nightmare but you are now. He isn’t sure why, he feels like there’s something going on but it’s also none of his business so he doesn’t say anything.
You finish your walk to the training room, putting your guilt about lying to Gar in the back of your head. When you enter the room, Jason is right there, waiting. A part of you thought maybe he’d still be mad and stand you up. It’s a pleasant surprise that he’s actually here.
“Midnight.” You wiggle your phone, the screen lights up at Jason.
“Cutting it close.” Jason taunts with a mocking grin.
“Shut up.” You shake your head, walking up to him. “Where do we start?”
A chuckle leaves Jason’s throat, amused by your eagerness. Finally, someone else who gets it. “Have you ever punched someone?”
“A few times.” You shrug. “It wasn’t really my thing.” You scrunch your nose.
“How wasn’t it your thing?” Jason questions, his brows furrowed.
“What do you mean?” Your eyes go left and then right, trying to figure out what he’s so confused about. Some people don’t like to punch other people in the face.
“Seems like you'd be into hitting people.” Jason chortles.
Your survival instincts is actually why he thinks that. The whole dealing with torture for a year thing, living on the streets of Gotham, your overall detached sarcastic attitude, it all makes him think you wouldn't be afraid to throw the first punch.
“Rude. No,” You shake your head with a laugh. “Like I said, people didn’t hate me and I wasn’t one to throw a punch. I talk a lot of shit for someone who’s only been in a handful of fistfights.” You shift your weight. “And….close hand-to-hand combat is a bit sketchy. Shit starts going south, you’re fucked. I threw knives.” You state nonchalantly, watching Jason's face contort in surprise. "People fear knives, everyone thinks they stand a chance in a fistfight."
Jason's brows knit together, trying to piece all of this together. “Knives???? And how did you manage that?” He didn't see that coming.
You shrug. “Guy at one of the shelters, he taught street kids how to defend themselves. Self defense and he had a thing for knives.”
Jason lets out this booming laugh, his head tilting back. “Yeah, uh, Knife Guy? Like, that’s what he was called, right? Shelter by the library?”
“Yeah,” You let out a shy laugh. “Yeah, white hair, scar across his left eye?”
There’s this feeling in the pit of your stomach you can’t identify knowing that Jason knows who you’re talking about. The guy had been around for years according to his stories and rumors. So, of course Jason would know who he is. But, it’s still weird because had any of yours and Jason’s circumstances changed within a year of each other, you likely would have run into each other. You wonder if you would have hated him or been too infatuated with him to focus on anything else if that had been the case. You settle on the feeling being bitterness.
“Yeah, that’s the guy.” Jason gives you this understanding smile. “Okay, so he taught you knives and how to punch?”
Jason didn't care much for the guy. He didn't really know what he was doing, even before Jason's training he knew that. But, it was better than nothing. Time and time again, Jason witnessed other kids who got picked up by dealers, by other kids, by scarier adults. A lot of kids knew to just start screaming bloody murder and it'd scare off the person because it draws too much attention, usually. But, other times, some sort of defense was needed and no one else was helping. Something is better than nothing, that's what Jason thinks anyway. But, the knives, the guy had a thing for that and he rarely ever missed.
“Kind of.” You shrug. "It was mostly knife work I learned from him. Let's be honest, him and the library are the only reason anyone actually goes to that shelter willingly." You grimaces. The staff kind of sucks there. They aren't very nice and the food is somehow worse at that shelter. But, beggars can't be choosers.
Jason walks over to the table containing throwing knives. He picks one up and flips the blade towards him, offering you the handle. “Let’s see what you got then.”
You smirk at him and it’s been a while. You’re not very confident in your ability to hit a target but you won’t let Jason know that.
“I am rusty, so remember that.” You chuckle, taking the knife from him and walking in front of the target. You aim as you were taught, realizing your vision is still a bit compromised but you take the throw anyway. It sticks at the very bottom of the target. “Well, fuck.” You groan.
“Not a sharpshooter that’s for sure.” Jason chuckles.
“Give me another!” You spin, glaring at him. Jason does as told and you spin around, arming again and this time, it’s closer but still far off from the bullseye.
“Least you get it on the target, I guess.” Jason teases you. “Maybe you should get some hand-to-hand in, might do you better.”
“Fuck off!” You grow annoyed and you were never a sharpshooter but this is ridiculous. You should be closer, at least. It’s why you chose the knives. You’re better at it but this is not it. You won’t let Jerry take this away from you either. “Give me another one.” Jason hands another one over, crossing his arms. He is a little impressed with you making it on the target. He can tell by how you move your arm, it hurts. It’s shaky when you pull back and you step into it with a shaky leg. That’s why you’re missing but Jason lets you throw again before saying anything. This one is worse than the first one. “Oh, for fuck’s sake.” You groan, throwing your head back.
“Did you want some advice now? I mean, we can do this all night. It’s pretty funny but I could help.”
You stare straight ahead, rolling your eyes before turning to face him. "Enlighten me."
"You're in pain and you gotta fight through it." Jason picks up a knife, spinning it in his hands as if to show off. "Go faster. Stop thinking so hard about it. You always think that much? Cause, if you're in a fight, you don't get that."
"No!" You yells to defend yourself. "Of course, not but I haven't done it in a while and yeah, it’s kind of painful." Usually, when you were to throw a knife, there wasn’t a lot of thought, not after a while. Your eyes and arms just worked together. Again, it’s not that you were a sharpshooter or anything, but your movements were fluid and you usually hit whatever you were trying to, even if it wasn’t a perfect target. But, this is different. It feels like you’re starting over in a way because hitting this stationary target that isn’t even that far away should have been easier.
"So?" Jason challenges you. "It should be like getting on a bike." His eyes widen as he stands toe to toe with you, dangling the knife. "Just throw it." His grin is taunting and you keep your eyes narrowed at him.
You take the knife from him and does what he says. You don't think about it and just spin around, throwing the knife just as it comes into view. The knife sticks just a few inches from the bullseye and you get this smile on your face that’s drenched in pride and relief while Jason's is proud.
He can’t help the way his heart skips a beat with the smile on your face or with the way you spin back around, confidence oozing from you. Your eyes are bright and this is the first time you look genuinely happy. Jason’s stomach flips as you eye him with pride and in the moment, a subconscious part of him swears he never wants to see you anything but happy and proud.
"See? Stop thinking so fucking much." Jason chortles, brushing off the bubbles in his stomach.
"That how you function?" You quip, crossing your arms over your chest.
Jason shrugs. "Working pretty well." He spreads his arms out. "Robin."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." You let out a sigh.
He has a point. But, you hope that maybe he'll be really good at this training. But, you both can stick it to Dick and maybe it'll be a way, in a roundabout kind of way, for Jason to show Dick what he can do. Maybe that'll be enough for Bruce. You can train carefully but successfully. You think it should be enough because while you have so far been enjoying his company, the way he just beams like the morning sun when he mentions Robin, you want him to be able to get back to that. You don’t have to know him in depth or for very long to know he deserves it.
"No bad though." Jason nods his head at you.
"Was that a compliment?" You wiggle your brows at him.
"Yeah, fuck off." Jason chuckles softly as he looks to the floor and back to you. "Alright, you wanna do that or you wanna fight?"
"Fight." You answer, the smile falling from your face as you nod at him once. You'll get back into knife throwing when you can train with everyone else. You were always better at it.
Jason walks to the center of the floor, you following him but keeping your distance. "Do you do know how to punch someone?"
"Assume so." You shrug. "Knife Guy did teach me that."
Jason rolls his eyes. "Show me."
You hesitate but walk towards him anyway and make a fist and punch him lightly in the arm. Jason bursts out laughing and you can't be serious.
"That's a joke, right?"
"I don't want to actually p--"
"I can't train you if I don't know if you can even punch someone. Aren't you still mad at me from earlier?" Jason questions. He was sure you’d be okay with a friendly sparring session. He didn’t think you were actually someone who didn’t like to punch people.
You shrug a shoulder. "I don't have many grudges."
"Start, it'll help." Jason quips, there’s a roughness to his voice and you wonder what grudges he’s hiding. "Just fucking hit me, it's not like it's gonna be worse than anything I've had before."
You roll your eyes but do as he says, actually putting some force into it and Jason just blinks at you. He can't tell if you just don't know what you’re doing or if you’re weak as a person or if being malnourished has made you weak and that's why you suck at this. You’re going to be a part of the team and he's gotta get you to be stronger than this if your powers aren't going to be fool proof like Dick likes to think.
"That's pathetic." Jason nods.
"Thank you. I used to pride myself in not being very violent." You scoff.
"You're a Titan." Jason almost pleads.
"That's why I'm here so you can teach me to be more violent and actually kick ass. I'm not who I was before. I said used to." You only acted in self defense, life or death, scared situations. But, you want to be ready for anything. Act first, think later kind of mentality from now on.
For a second, Jason wonders if this is a good idea. He wasn't a super violent person before Robin either. He's had his share of fistfights, of course, nothing on this planet will get Jason to shut the fuck up and people don't normally find it charming. He had no choice. It's always kill or be killed. But being Robin gave him a free pass to kick ass. Sure, the criminals all deserved it and it was mostly under the watchful eye of Bruce, but it was a free pass and maybe some of that went to his head like when he beat up a bunch of cops when he was helping Dick. Does he want to put someone else through that? Is that what Dick meant with all that talk about not being Robin? Jason can't imagine another life, sure he fights more but it's also the most himself he's ever felt and there's a sense of feeling complete being Robin. Maybe that's just one of the consequences of finding yourself, losing a part of yourself.
"I'm also injured." You continue. "I could punch harder if it didn't hurt."
"Okay. I'm gonna teach you how to throw a punch and a proper kick then we're gonna spar." Jason explains, earning raised brows from you. "So, I can see what you can do and what you can't right now. It'll be easier for me to figure shit out, not gonna push you too far."
"Alright." You agree. "Show me, then."
Jason walks you over to the punching bag and takes your hand in his and you can't help but notice the difference between how his hand feels compared to Gar's. It's cold, more calloused. It's rough like all he does is beat his fists into things which by the looks of the fading bruises on his knuckles, that is all he does.
He makes a fist with your hand and then stands behind you, using his feet to move yours in a proper position. His hands are on your hips and there's a second where his heart stutters. He convinces himself it’s because he just doesn’t want to get caught and you’re just starting. It’s not because his hands are on your hips and you look over your shoulder at him with nothing but endearment.
Your stomach flips under his touch and you don't know what the flipping in your stomach is. You can't even tell if you like it. It's different than the flipping with Gar because this feels....like adrenaline. It's a rush like running through the streets at night, the sky cloudy and the air muggy but something feels so good about it. Refreshing even. But Gar is a calming and comforting flip, butterflies even. He's the safety of a house after being out late at night, where the bed is the most welcoming place on earth. Jason makes you want to go skydiving, something you'd never do in a million years and Gar makes you want to curl up by a fire with hot chocolate and a pet dog.
"You're gonna wanna move your hips when you punch, gives you more momentum, stronger punch." Jason explains as he walks in front of you.
"Like this?" You throw a punch and the bag moves.
"Yeah, like that." Jason gives you a soft and proud smile, something you never thought you'd see coming from him. "Keep going but try putting more force into, as much as you can."
You do as you’re told and Jason gives a few pointers here and there on your form. But overall, you aren't doing too bad given your lack of experience and it makes Jason feel important. It's the first time since leaving Bruce that he feels important. Someone needs him. It's for fighting, but needs him nonetheless and he's doing a good job helping you. It feels really good. And after a few minutes of you hitting the bag, he feels it's time to show you how to kick properly without breaking a toe.
Jason does a few examples and you always thought the kicks of any type of fighting look so ridiculous when there isn't a person at the receiving end. Jason makes them look a little less ridiculous though and you follow his lead. You try to do what he does and he tells you what you’re doing wrong and what you’re doing right. He's surprisingly good at constructive criticism. Dick might not like what Bruce turned him and Jason into but as far as you’re concerned, they were taught well otherwise Jason wouldn't have any idea what constructive criticism even is and would just be badgering you about what you’re doing wrong.
"So," Jason starts as you grab a drink of water after a few rounds of kicks and punching bag hits. "How's this gonna work with your whole...combat thing you do?" Jason asks. "Because part of this is teaching you how to block but if you can dodge everything already?"
You shrug. "I can try to ignore it?" You offer.
"Is that something you can actually fucking do?" Jason quips with a chuckle.
"I don't fucking know." You laugh. "Probably, I did for a while with Jerry."
It’s not something easy to ignore. It’s kind of like trying to ignore a raging migraine. It doesn’t hurt but it’s throbbing and it’s annoying. But, you’ve done it before in a far worse situation. Jason, you know he’s not gonna hurt you. This is just training, some (Jason) might even say this is just fun. So, you think ignoring it might be helpful for right now but you swear you can’t make a habit of it.
The acid is one thing, it’s not something you like very much but the combat clairvoyance is nice. It’s useful and no one would ever know that’s what it is. But a part of you worries that if you ignore it enough, it won’t be as effective. The last thing you want is to be stuck with powers and then the one you like to not even work properly because you spent too much time ignoring it.
Jason nods. "Right. Alright, well, I won't actually try to hit you hard." Jason huffs but there's still a smile pulling at his lips. "Not a fair fight."
"Ha-ha." You mock. "No, that's fair." You laughs softly.
"You just have to block me, that's it." Jason shrugs as if it’s the easiest sentence he’s ever said. Something tells you blocking Jason isn’t going to be that easy even with him not trying very hard.
"Okay." You rest your water bottle down and follow Jason to the center of the room.
Jason takes position and you mimic what he's doing, not really understanding the purpose but roll with it anyway. It gains you a smirk and a head shake from Jason before he asks if you’re ready. You nod and Jason moves towards you, the sparring starting.
You feel the throbbing of the back of your head with Jason coming at you. It's throbbing and aching, a constant state of feeling like someone waking you up banging pots and pans right against your ears but you push through it. Ignoring the signals from the back of your head, you use your arms to block him to the best of your ability. It's not much actually but you saw him spar with Gar and Rachel earlier, he's holding back a lot. He's slower and there's almost no strength in his punches or his kicks. He's being careful not to hurt you and there's something really nice and reassuring about it. He just wants to help. But then you miss one of the blocks as Jason's leg comes up, connecting with your right flank.
You let out a scream and drop to the floor, holding your side. Jason stands in shock, questioning how it hurt that bad because he swears he didn't kick you hard, it was more of just a tap.
"Fuck, are you okay?" Jason moves to his knees in front of you, you hunching over, fighting back tears as the stinging intensifies.
Your eyes are slammed shut with your forehead pressed against the floor but you give him a thumbs up. "Fine, I...I'm...I'm fine."
"I-I'm sorry." Jason mumbles. "I didn't--" His hand is hovering over your shoulder, not sure what to do or how he can help.
"Not your fault." You cut him off, your words sharp and short, not mad. "Fuck." You look up to him, your eyes a little red.
"Let me see--"
"No." You shake your head. "It's fine...I just...need....a minute." Your words are breathy as the pain makes your heart race.
"Y/n, I'm really sorry." Jason apologizes with sad eyes wreaking of guilt.
"It's a bruise, not your fault, didn't tell you how bad." You mumble, as you try regain your breath, the pain fading just a bit.
"How fucking bad is that bruise? It should be getting better by now." Jason's voice raises with touches of anger and worry.
He's pissed you didn't tell him how bad the bruise still was. He still would have helped you but he would have minded his kicks and punches a lot more. He would have avoided that side. You were going easy enough that it would have been simple for him. He'd never hurt you on purpose. And he can only assume it's the boot print. It's the one bruise you specifically mentioned and bruises in the shape of boot are usually pretty bad and linger but he thought you'd tell him if it were that bad.
You suck in a breath as the stinging fades a bit more. "Pretty bad, I guess." You mutter. "Didn't think it'd be a big deal."
"That worked out real fucking well." Jason groans. You dodge his eyes and Jason feels guilty. It's not really his fault but you just wanted to train. If anyone would understand that, it's him.
You go quiet for a second and you feel bad but you’re just desperate. Being hurt makes your feel weaker and you hate feeling weak. You know that it's okay not feel completely okay and take time to heal an injury but you just don't think you have that kind of time. It's terrifying knowing Jerry is still out there, even if he stands no chance against the Titans. It doesn't matter because he's out there probably living his best life and you just want to live yours.
"I-I'm sorry." You mutter out, still dodging Jason's eyes. "I-I...I, uh, I don't like feeling weak and, ya know?" Your brows furrow. "Um..." Your jaw clenches. "Telling you how bad it is, it's just admitting it to myself and I don't...I don't want to do that." Your eyes finally lock on Jason's and his heart sinks.
He lets out a sigh and rests his forearm on his knee. "You're not weak, alright? Some dickwad did that to you, alright?" He shakes his head and something about you make it really easy to open up. It's easy for him to open to Gar because Gar doesn't judge. He just lets him talk and that's kind of what you do but you offer this sense of genuine understanding, even with stealing the hubcaps off the Batmobile. You're plenty different but on the surface you're so similar Jason finds it easy to talk to you. "I got hurt once, as Robin." Jason states.
"What happened?" You ask.
Jason's jaw clenches. "I didn't listen to Bruce, it got me a little hung out." Jason explains. "I broke my collarbone. It sucked because had I listened to Bruce it wouldn't have happened and then he benched me until it was healed, obviously." Jason scoffs as if to still be mad about it and you have a hunch he's madder about not being able to be Robin than he is about the broken bone. "I tried to train with it broken though." Jason lets out a laugh. "Bruce caught me and it got fucking ugly, he was pissed." There's a simple smile on Jason's face. "So, I get it, alright? But, if you don't tell me, I can't help you. I know how fucking keen you are to tell people shit, but this would help."
"Thanks, Jay." You say and Jason's heart flutters, no one's ever called him that before. He likes it when you say it. You let out a sigh and decide to show him the bruise. "Promise not to tell anyone?"
"Do promises mean something to you?" Jason asks, his voice slightly snarky.
"Yeah, of course. All we have is our word. They don't mean anything to you?"
Too many people have promised Jason things over the years and none of those promises ever worked. His dad promised he'd be there for him, always, because his mom was down and out. Then he was an idiot working with Two-Face and got himself killed. His uncle promised to take care of him and then drank himself to death. Cops promised he'd be okay but he hasn't felt okay a day in his life, not until he put on the Robin suit but that was because of Bruce and because Jason took his life into his own hands. And now it's been tugged away from him. Social workers promised they'd find a really good home for him. They didn't. Teachers promised they would help but they gave up on him. No one's ever been up to the task of really and truly helping him but they all promised they would. They all promised he wouldn't be alone. So, no, Jason Todd doesn't believe in promises.
"No." He scoffs, keeping it short. "People say they promise just to get shit from you."
Your eyes are sad and your heart breaks for him. You don't really know him all that well but you know everyone else is wrong about him. You can tell. No one gives him a chance to be good but you will. You don't trust anyone either, not after everything. It's so easy to break trust and nearly impossible to get it back but you want to trust people again and you want Jason to trust people, trust you. You trust him.
"I won't make a promise to you I can't keep or make a promise just to get something from you." Your voice is small, filled with candor but you keep your eyes locked on Jason's and suddenly it all feels a little too real for him. He feels like you’ve put him under a microscope and is looking for signs of a deadly disease.
"That a promise?" Jason quips back, a bite in his voice but you don't take the bait.
"Promise." You nod your head just once. "I keep my promises. I've never broken a single one."
You’re this puzzle he can't figure out, something of a Rubix cube. He doesn't understand why you even care. You don't even know him but you treat him better than people who've known him his entire life. A part of him even thinks it's some sort of prank, he's waiting for the cameras to come out and say he's being Punk'd. But, your eyes are sincere and warm and welcoming. He drown into you if you'd let him.
"Alright," Jason sucks in a breath. "I promise I won't tell anyone."
You shift carefully so your flank is facing Jason. You lift up your shirt just enough to show him the bruise. Jason's jaw nearly drops as his brows furrow and pain shoots through his entire body. The bruise is, in fact, a boot. He can see the tread and he thinks about old episodes of CSI and how they'd use shoe prints to pin the killer. He swears they could do that with this shoot print because it's so vivid and he wants to know how you didn't have any internal bleeding over it. The whole bruise is dark. It looks agonizing and maybe Dick was right about you not training.
"Shit." Jason lets out a breath as you pull your shirt down and face him.
"Yeah...it kind of hurts."
"No, shit." Jason huffs. "That's..." Jason pauses he swears that he would hunt down Jerry himself right now if it weren't for you sitting in front of him. "I hope you get to hunt him the fuck down one day." His jaw is clenched and it makes you smile.
"Yeah, you and me both." You let out a half-laugh half-scoff.
Jason lets out this dry laugh, his blood boiling. It's just not fair and Jason knows life isn't fair but it should be for you. "I'm serious, I'll hunt him down if you don't want to."
You give him a large smile. "I appreciate it but he's my battle. It's why I don't why you tell Dick. I'll find him one day."
"You'll have the best training in the world." Jason holds his head up high giving you a cocky grin. "I'll make sure the fuck doesn't stand a chance against you."
You almost forgot what it's like to have someone so protective of you. The only person who was ever like that was your mom but it never resorted to something like this. It was just that one time with your dad showing up and the usual things like defending you against nosy soccer moms or putting her arm across you when she had to slam on the brakes in the car too quickly. This is different because Jason doesn't know you but he'd protect you anyway.
"As I said, you're not so bad, Jason Todd." You grin at him.
"Told ya, I'm the best." Jason boasts.
"Yeah, I'll give it to you...this one time." You laugh softly.
"It won't be the last, babe." Jason quips and you roll your eyes. If it were anyone else, the arrogance that radiates off him like bad cologne would be annoying. But, it’s cute on him.
"Mhm, whatever you say, BaBe." You mock him, widening your eyes.
Jason lets out a laugh and you think he's cute when he laughs. You wish he did it more. "Alright, come on." Jason moves to your left side and pulls your arm, putting it around his neck. "We're gonna some ice on it before it gets worse."
You look up at him. "You're not mad, are you?" He doesn't seem mad anymore but you just want to make sure.
"No." Jason shakes his head. "But can you fucking tell me next time?"
"You got it, boss." You give him a thumbs up, standing up with him and wincing with the movement of getting to your feet.
the two of you start your walk, opting to remain quiet this time. You feel safe with him. His grip is tight around you, but not too tight. He’s holding you close to him and you swear he’s probably the safest person in the world. Jason, though, he just feels understood. He thinks if he offered to help Rachel, he wouldn’t but if did, she’d cringe or make some nasty comment about it. But, you, it’s like you just get it and of course, Gar gets it, too. The two of you understand him better than anyone ever has. In this moment, Jason swears to himself that if it comes down to it, the people he’d save over anything and everyone, including himself, are you and Gar.
With every step, you wince and you’re starting to understand why Dick wanted you to wait. You'll never admit that he was right because you’re too prideful for that but you get it now because this pain is horrendous. You knew it would hurt if you got hit but you highly underestimated just how much. And because that wasn't bad enough, Gar is still planted on the couch when the two of you enter the living room. Jason and you freeze for a second as Gar makes eye contact with you.
Busted.
"What are you...what...what happened?" Gar gets up from his seat as concern coats his words, you and Jason just standing there, at a loss for words. "Are you okay?" Gar asks you before looking to Jason and then back to you.
"I'm fine, Gar." You pull your arm away from Jason's neck and make your way to the couch, favoring your right side. Gar follows you while Jason goes to the freezer for an icepack.
Gar sits on the coffee table in front of you. "He didn't....?" Gar asks, knowing full well that Jason would never but needed some type of reassurance.
You sigh knowing you can't hide everything from him, he already knows too much and if he goes to Dick about it, this whole thing will blow up more. You do not want to get anyone in trouble.
"You can't tell Dick, okay?" You ask and Gar nods while Jason comes back, handing the ice pack to you as he takes a seat on the coffee table in front of you. "Jason is helping me train since Dick won't let me yet."
"That's stupid." Gar states, mostly referring to the both of you teaming up to do this. Dick just has your best interests at heart and Jason should know that better than anyone.
"That's what I said." Jason adds in.
You narrow your eyes at him. "You agreed to it." You mutter. "I neglected to tell him about a bruise and he tapped it."
"Tapped?" Gar questions.
"Swear, I barely touched her."
"Yeah," You shrug. "It's just, uh, it's pretty bad, I guess." You look down before looking at Jason as if begging him not to tell Gar further details about it. You want to spare him the sight of it. "It's a shoe print so." You clear your throat.
"Holy shit." Gar mumbles, shaking his head.
"Yeah," You suck in a breath. "I thought it'd be fine but it is not. The others are healing fine, a little faster than I expected actually but this one is just taking a little longer, I guess." You shrug your shoulders. "So, it was just an accident."
Gar sits for a second, obviously, he knew it was bad. He looks at your face every day. But a vivid shoe print on your side seems to have crossed a line he didn't know he even had. He's pissed and Gar isn't someone that gets pissed often. How can someone do this to you? You’ve got a smartass mouth but that's not a reason to do that to someone. It doesn't matter what you did or didn't do, no one deserves that and there's a part of him that almost wants to hunt the guy down.
Jason, on the hand, kind of wants you to show Gar. As he said, whatever Gar imagines is going to be worse than what it actually is. And Jason knows from first had experience that Gar isn't going to make it weird or anything. He'll just be understanding and maybe even he'll want to find the guy. But, Gar would actually understand more why you want to train. However, Jason isn't going to say anything. He promised.
"Okay," You nod your head finding the silence and wide eyes from Gar a bit uncomforting. "You're making it a little weird."
"Sorry." Gar apologizes, shaking his head. "It's just pretty messed up."
"It's fucked." Jason locks a knowing stare with you, matching the conversation you had the night before. "Piece of shit doesn't deserve to walk around free."
"We're not going after him, Dick will kill us." Gar protests though, if Jason or you went after him, he can't blame either of you. Even before knowing about this bruise, he wouldn't have blamed you.
"No one is going after him." You state. "If anyone were going to, it would be me. I said I don't hold many grudges. This isn't a grudge, it's vengeance, karma. Eye for an eye. My eye for an eye, no one else's. But the plan is not to seek him out, just be prepared if he seeks me out."
"Is that why you're training?" Gar asks.
"Gotta be prepared." You dodge his stare and Gar gets you wanting to search the tower a little more now. You’re fully convinced he'll come looking for you if he finds out you’re alive. If you’re alive and you start telling people what happened and who did it, he'll be fucked.
"The guy still deserves the same shit he did to you and then some." Jason remarks.
"Yeah, well, he's also not my fucking problem." It’s harsh but it’s also true. It’s very fresh and maybe in a few months, you’ll feel differently about it. But, for right now, he is not your problem. He isn’t your problem unless he comes looking for you.
Gar's attention snaps back to you with the comment. "What if he does it to someone else?" Gar asks, almost feeling like siding with Jason.
You shake your head. "I'm not seeking him out. I spent a year trying to escape and I won't risk it again." You’re being candid with the two of them and you don't feel too bad about it, actually. The both of them together make it easier. Gar has the calmness and level-headedness you need whereas Jason is the hot-headed one that you prefer in conversations like this, probably because you like the idea of killing Jerry. "I'm not...trying to be a bitch but.....did you do anything about that doctor?"
Gar shakes his head. "But he didn't do that," He gestures toward you. "To any of us. This is different."
"I guess." You shrug, readjusting the ice pack. "Look, I don't want anyone to know how bad it was, okay? I tell you two because I happen to really like the both of you and talking to you. I don't want anyone else to know how bad shit got, alright? Any of it, okay?" You plead with them and Jason nods along, he doesn't like people knowing the deep and dirty secrets his heart carries either.
"Why not?" Gar asks. "If Dick knows, he can help catch him."
Of course, to some extent, he can understand it. It's something that's hard to talk about. Talking about trauma is never easy. He remembers Jason finally breaking down and telling him stuff, he did in a very matter-of-fact way which just made Gar worry about him. But, after a little bit, Jason had a real conversation about it and why he doesn't like to talk about. It makes it real, people look at him differently. You and Jason are so much alike it seems that Gar wonders if that's how you feel about it, too. If so, he wishes you didn't because talking and letting people in, does help. Gar would know.
You admire Gar's endless optimism but you’re a glass-half-empty kind of person. "You know how people say trauma makes you strong?" Gar nods. "It doesn't, it just desensitizes you. Not feeling anything is not a strength, it's a weakness. Being terrified of sleeping and letting your guard down for more than a minute, that's not strength. I will not look weak to anyone, ever again so fucking help me." Your stare is harsh and your mouth is pressed into a straight line.
Listening to someone say they don't feel anything besides a sense of fear and paranoia, it's not something Gar has heard before even if that is how someone has felt. He can't imagine the kind of pain must put someone through. He didn't really get it until now and maybe now he understands why it was easy for you to talk to Jason. Jason seems like he doesn't feel much, Gar seems like he feels too much. He gets why you don't want anyone to know, as much as it pains him, he'll swear he won't tell anyone.
"Okay." Gar nods.
"Thanks, guys." You suck in a breath. "I'll be fine, like, really. It'll fade and one day I'll be okay but I'm not close to that yet." You show some slight optimism.
You aren't sure you believe the words you said or not but looking at the concerned faces of both boys, you felt like you needed to say something. You don't want them thinking you’re about to jump off a building or something because that's not it either. You do feel safe here and while you aren't sure if you'll recover from everything, you do know there's a chance if you’re here with these two because they make life after the trauma look appealing and fun again. They make it look like you can move past it, either in a heroic, aggressive way or in a happy-go-lucky way. They make it seem possible and that's all you really need.
"If I ever see him though," Jason starts, not thrilled with the idea of letting this piece of shit just be free. Maybe that's the issue with being a Titan for him, he wants the fight and Dick won't let him. At least Bruce let him fight. "I'll kill him."
"How do you even know what he looks like?" You ask, narrowing your eyes and you catch Gar stiffen in front to you as Jason’s eyes glance to Gar. "Oh my gosh, did you like, Google me or whatever?"
"No, we didn't fucking Google you." Jason quips, his eyes slightly narrowed. They did not Google you.
"Research me? Using some type of Wayne tech?" You retort. "You know what I mean."
"Well..." Jason gains this sly smirk and he's not all that apologetic about it. There's not a doubt in his mind if the roles were reversed, you would have done it, too.
"We just wanted to make sure you weren't here to kill us." Gar says apologetically.
"Wait, so, you guys knew this whole time and didn't say anything?"
"We're sorry." Gar apologizes for the both of them while Jason just shrugs. Gar gives him a dirty look.
"Sorry we ran your blood through the computer." Jason's tone is almost mocking, he isn't all that sorry about it. He feels a little bad about the invasion of privacy, especially since you did actually tell him what happened. But, it was for the safety of the Titans, or so he tells himself.
Your face contorts and you can't really tell if you want to be mad about it or not. On the one hand, that's an invasion of privacy. Did Dick also do that? Is that why he's so trusting? But, on the other hand, you would have done the same thing and getting mad would just make you a hypocrite. Though you have questions about why they were so confident to use your blood. But, that’s an entirely different thing to unpack that, in all honesty, you didn't even wanna know.
"I...okay." You shake your head, choosing to move on from it. "So...why didn't you guys just say you knew?"
It's Gar who shrugs and speaks up before Jason can have some sarcastic quip. "We didn't want you to know and make you uncomfortable and we weren't really sure what happened. That's not actually in the file."
"We figured." Jason says, looking away from you.
"Ahh." You say. "Anyone else with you two?"
Gar shakes his head. "Just us." Gar clears his throat. "Rachel, knew though. We didn't tell her anything though."
"Hmm." Your eyes narrow for just a quick second. Rachel knew the boys were going to look up who you are and didn't tell you? Alright then. But, you don't say anything about it. Gar is at least her friend so maybe she didn't want to throw him under the bus for someone she doesn't even know.  "Well, since you already took it upon yourselves to look into me," You suck in a breath. "Anything you actually want to know that I haven't said already?"
Gar looks at Jason and they're both almost certain this is some sort of trap. They're not entirely sure how but it has to be. You can't possibly be open to just discussing whatever questions they have about anything prior to coming here. You haven't been that open about anything. But Jason takes it as a challenge, if it's a trap, he'll walk right into it.
"How'd you end up in the system?" Jason asks, jerking his head up slightly. He kind of assumes it's the whole breaking into cars thing but he's curious.
"Busted breaking into a car because no one told me that hubcaps were the smarter option." You give Jason a joking glare, your voice holding tints of sarcasm. "I fucking tripped, can you believe that? Pavement was slick and I slipped." You let out a laugh.
When it happened, it was definitely not funny. It was disappointing and you felt like a failure. But, tonight, there's a part of it that you find funny. You ran those streets a million times in the pouring rain and never had any issues but that one night, you slipped. It's so dumb.
"Fell from a fence." Jason laughs.
"You guys tried to escape from the system?" Gar looks between the two of you. Of course, seeing what you’ve been through so far, he gets it but the entire system can't possibly be like that.
"You guys tried to escape from the system?" Gar looks between the two of you. Of course, seeing what you’ve been through so far, he gets it but the entire system can't possibly be like that.
"Fuck yes." You and Jason say simultaneously.
"Clearly," You continue. "I had the right idea."
"Yeah, foster care is a fucking joke even if it's not as bad as what's his face." Jason shakes his head. He's had his fair share of time spent in foster homes and most of them weren't that bad. But, it wasn't the best time of his life either.
"Assuming you never got the lovely experience?" You ask Gar.
Gar shakes his head. "I went with Dr. Cauldon when I got better after he fixed me."
You offer him a sweet smile. "You're lucky." You clear your throat. "Uh, I mean, there are a lot of foster homes and stuff that aren't bad, of course, right? I mean, I met someone who ended up in a really good home. It's just..." You scrunch your face, trying to figure out how to phrase it.
"Do you want to take the risk in ending up in a bad one?" Jason asks the rhetorical question, finishing your thought.
"Yeah, exactly."
"Yeah, I knew a few people who ended up fine in their foster homes. So, it's not horrible but when it treats you like shit..." Jason turns his head at Gar.
"You turn a little bitter towards the system as a whole because the system should be in place to protect us. But, I was better off on the streets." You set the ice pack on the couch beside you. "So, I mean, you're lucky you didn't have to navigate it."
"I'm seeing that." Gar lets out a breath.
Lucky was never a word Gar would have used to describe himself. His parents die of a mysterious disease, he also gets the mysterious disease and the only way to survive was through a weird doctor. Then, he gets better and he's not even allowed to leave the manor. Of course, he did anyway but he wasn't supposed to. It's not like it was horrible at Doom Manor or anything because it wasn't but it also wasn't freedom or very fun. It was just existing to Gar and he never considered that to be lucky, not until meeting the Titans anyway. They've all had pretty horrible lives, actually, the more Gar thinks about it.
“So, any other questions?" You ask, mostly looking at Gar.
He has one but he's not sure if it's really appropriate. He mostly just wants to know what happened before Dick found you. Did Jerry really just leave you there alive and if so, why? Did he actually think you were dead? He's just curious how it all happened, he's glad it did but he wonders. On the other hand though, he doesn't want this to get uncomfortable or weird, although you seem to be comfortable with Jason asking questions.
"Did, uh, he really just leave you in that alley?" Gar asks.
"Uh..." You stutter, brows furrowed. You don't have much memory of it, actually.  "It's kind of hard to remember." You suck in a breath and suddenly you’re nervous. Something about Gar asking makes you nervous, maybe it's because even when Jason is serious, you have a hard time taking him seriously where Gar, despite the quirkiness and softness and smiles, when he asks, he always seems serious. "I tried to come up with a plan for awhile to escape but I was always chained up and I didn't get to develop super strength or anything. Um....so...." You shake your head, wishing you had a hoodie on suddenly, feeling too exposed. "I figured it was do or die at some point." Your head hangs and you remember the day you made your decision.
It was a regular day for you, chained in the basement and injected with something new. Jerry got mad and that led to the same old situation. This time though, it broke you. There wasn’t anything different about it but it broke you. The exhaustion had finally set in and you were tired. You knew you’d give up soon, you could feel it in your blood so you hatched a half-assed plan.
"Let me preface this by saying that I didn't want to die, not really. I was just exhausted from it all and I needed to get out of there because he was gonna kill me at some point." You state looking between the boys and you feel the mental fatigue deep in your brain like a permanent virus just waiting to be activated again. "I-I decided I'd piss him off real bad one day." You say through gritted teeth, Gar and Jason hung onto every word.
The energy has shifted. It always felt light-hearted despite the seriousness of the discussion. You were joking and so was Jason, Gar giving you looks of disbelief but this is not that. Sometimes what the mind can do to someone is worse than anything someone else can physically cause.
"I knew he'd get really mad and one of two things would happen. One: either he would kill me and I'd be out of my fucking misery."
Gar winces at the thought, that's what you thought about? Having him kill you? And Jason can't fathom it. No amount shit he's been through has pushed him that far. He knew, of course, because you told him but it was very casual. This story while the same as the singular sentence you said about it, feels drastically different and far more upsetting than it did before.
"Or two: he'd beat me so bad he'd think I was dead and dump me somewhere." You tilt your head to the right. "It was risky and not calculated but to be honest, I did not give a flying fuck what would happen. Guess, he thought I was dead and now I'm here." You shrug. "I got good at staying calm so I didn't fight back. In a way, I supposed I faked my death." You scoff as you roll your eyes.
The room falls silent as you finish and you feel like you said way too much. You didn't mean to go that in-depth about it but you kept looking at Gar and his sad eyes and you just couldn't help it. He wanted honesty and you couldn't not give it to him, not with the look on his face. But, now you regret it because the look of sorrow on his face feels like it's going to be permanent when he looks at you and that's the last thing you wanted. And even Jason is just silent. The kid is literally never silent. He just said what you did was badass last night but apparently giving context, changes the attitude about it.
"As I said, I didn't want to die. It just...ya know?" You furrow your brows, dodging your eyes from the boys as you think of how to form your words. "You hit this breaking point at some point where you just can't take it anymore and that's the do or die moment and sometimes that's literal. It was for me. Do or die because I just could not do it anymore. I wanted to escape if that.... clarifies anything. I...I just wasn't....given more options."
"Why didn't you use your powers? You said it's because you were afraid he was going to kill you but if that was the plan anyway..." Gar's voice is raised a little like he's upset by what you did which, is fair. But, he's known you for three days and he doesn't have a right to be upset by it.
"I wanted to escape." You state, sympathizing with him being upset by it. "If I used my powers and he happened to have some, too, he'd definitely have killed me. That was the only way I could see to have a shot to live outside of that fucking basement."
"That's so fucked." Jason shakes his head and it's the same reaction he's had all night but is there anything else to say about it? It's all fucked.
"You've said that." You nod.
"It is. Still think it's badass you just took it though." Jason shrugs, not quite sure how to process any of it and Gar is taking it very seriously. Based on what you've told Jason, he thinks maybe you’ll shut down if something quick-witted or sarcastic or snarky isn’t said.
Gar gives Jason a disapproving look. It's not badass, not to Gar. It's sad. No one should be out there just shrugging off their possible death to escape a bad situation. Jason was at least right about it being fucked. But it's more than that. There is a deep, almost unbearable ache in Gar's chest looking at you and realizing that most of the bruises he can see, including the ones you normally have covered up, are all new. Most of them seem to be turning into shades indictive of healing though, which is good. It's hitting him how fresh of all that still is to you and maybe you’re right that trauma doesn't make people strong but to Gar, you are. To deal with that and come out the other end, willing to trust him and Jason now, after three days is incredible.
You don't seem desensitized talking to them. It's trust and while he wants to do everything in his power to protect you, he also admires you because he knows he could never have made that life-or-death decision. He would have fought to get out or just taken whatever was given to him.
"Please, don't apologize." You say, looking at Gar. You know he's going to, he has the whole time and you don't want or need it. It doesn't make any of it better. "It's not something--" You’re cut off as Gar just pulls you into a hug and your eyes widen.
The hug is gentle like he's afraid if he gives you a proper hug maybe you'll shatter into a million pieces like fragile porcelain. But it's how he knows to communicate best and it's better than apologizing again or just echoing Jason. This is something distantly Gar. And you have a sad smile as you hug him back and you do like his hugs. They're comforting and he's so warm. You wonder if that's just a Gar thing or if it's the mutant part of him that makes him so warm. But you like how it quiets the roaring in your head like a tunnel muffling the sounds of rain. You like that you can feel the warmth through your bones, the constant ache of just existing eases and you don't really want him to let go. But then he does because hugs don't last forever.
"Thanks." Your smile is shy as you look at him while he pulls away and Gar's cheeks burn.
Jason has one furrowed brow, Gar glancing over to him. "Don't fucking hug me." You burst out laughing as Jason looks a little too serious. Sometimes Gar gets into a mushy mood and Jason will never admit it, but he does kind of like when Gar gets like that. But, he’s trying very hard to break the tension in the room.
"Why would I hug you?" Gar scoffs through a laugh. Jason looks like he would murder anyone that showed any type of physical affection toward him right now. Gar isn't stupid.
"Way to ruin a moment, Jason." Your laugh starts to subside.
"You're welcome." Jason huffs, a smirk on his lips.
He didn't really ruin a moment exactly, he did however, break the tension. Shattered, actually. The sadness in the air disappeared with his single comment. Though, you wish you could have known where it would have went with Gar after the hug, just what he would have had to say if anything. But you won't complain for a good laugh.
"So, back at it tomorrow night?" Jason asks, cornered smirk at you.
"Fuck yeah." You agree and Gar lets out a defeated sigh. He can tell you two are going to cause trouble together.
"Can I come? Since I know about it now." Gar asks. Maybe he wants to be the look out or help. Or maybe he wants to be there in case Jason gets carried away, not that he thinks he will, but just in case, of course. Or maybe it's just as simple as Gar wanting to hang around you some more.
"I'm cool, you?" You ask Jason.
"Yeah, of course, man." Jason nods at Gar and they do say they're best friends but this is the first you’re actually getting see it. You think it's cute.
"Awesome, I'm gonna go to bed then, you guys?" You ask.
"Yeah," Gar nods with wide eyes as he stands up.
You give Jason a cornered look and Jason would normally stay up, just a little longer. There's no such thing as too much training. But, you did have an eventful night and maybe he could go for a little more rest tonight.
"Yeah, alright." Jason gets up from his spot and the three of you walk to your rooms.
Jason gives you both a quick "night" before heading into his room and shutting the door, leaving Gar and you. Jason can take a hint. Now, it's just Gar and you, standing outside your room and neither of you are sure why. You're going to bed but you opening up makes Gar feel closer to you. He'll never understand what you went through but he can try. He can be there if you need him to even if it's just to scream or sit in silence. It doesn't bother him either way. And you like how calm he makes you. No one's ever been very good at that. You’ve always had a fire about you and he calms it, not dampens it, just calms it. You like the way your stomach flips when he smiles at you and how much he listens. The only thing, you wish he would stop with the sad eyes but maybe he will now that he knows everything. Maybe, hopefully.
"Okay, I'm gonna go to bed. Goodnight, Gar." Your smile splits your face as you open your door, waving at him softly.
"Goodnight, Y/n." Gar says as he starts to walk off but before you close your door, he turns around. "If you, uh, can't sleep or have a nightmare...." Gar pauses not really knowing how to phrase it without it sounding presumptuous.
"Gotcha." You finish, holding a honey-like smile. "Thank you. Goodnight."
"Goodnight." Gar sucks in a breath and this time, you both go to your rooms, doors closing behind you.
